I had the best experience! One of the greatest of my life! Fernando was amazing! He was informative, attentive, funny, and made the whole experience relaxing and fun. He could tell this was an exceptional moment for me and made me feel special. Gracias Fernando!! ☺️
We are happy with the service at this location. Rene is the guy. He is very thorough in helping us with whatever we need. He also speak fluent english that it is easier for us to communicate w him. Very attentive and friendly. This place is good for family with young kids. They will see Manetees, dolphins and seal.. people has option of watching it for free or swim, pet and interact w the animals with pay. Its worth to visit.
I wish I had done more research before booking this experience. What I thought would be a magical encounter with dolphins turned out to be DEEPLY DISTURBING. These incredible, intelligent animals are confined to small, artificial pools for the entertainment of tourists. They spend their entire lives trapped, unable to swim freely, explore, or socialise as they would in the wild. Dolphins are highly intelligent mammals who swim up to 100 km a day in the ocean. In captivity, they are often kept in tanks barely larger than a backyard swimming pool. Their natural sonar, which they use for navigation and communication, bounces endlessly off the walls, causing stress, confusion, and even psychological trauma. Some captive dolphins are seen floating listlessly or grinding their teeth from anxiety. What makes it worse is that these animals do not choose this life. Many are captured from the wild in violent hunts, separated from their families. Others are bred into captivity, never knowing the ocean at all. Either way, it is a life sentence in a concrete tank. If you love dolphins, please do not support this industry. Every ticket sold tells these places that it is okay to keep exploiting animals for profit. There are ethical alternatives, like seeing dolphins in the wild on respectful eco-tours, where they are free, not performing tricks for fish. I left this place feeling ashamed and heartbroken. Please do not make the same mistake I did. Do your research. Choose kindness over curiosity.
Why this place has a 4.1 star average is beyond me. Why some of the people posting unfavorable reviews complain about “services” that weren’t offered that involved interacting with dolphins in one way or the other is bewildering. This place is only allowed to stay open because the Mexican government won’t force them to relocate existing specimens to a sanctuary or release them into the wild, even though IT IS NOW ILLEGAL to keep animals in captivity. If you visit this place you’re contributing to the exploitation of these intelligent, sentient creatures. This place is not in the World Cetacean Alliance’s list of approved operators, and the parent company The Dolphin Company is not only going bankrupt, they’re under investigation for animal cruelty in Florida. STOP ANIMAL EXPLOITATION!
The animals were very well looked after, the experience was incredible with the dolphins, sea lion and manatees. Staff were very knowledgeable and the facilities were clean and well maintained. We had the option for the food which was tasty. Overall an amazing experience 👍
Located on Puerto Adventures. Very clean location. There is a lot to do and see. Plenty of food and shops around. There are also numerous pharmaceutical stores.
2025-July We booked the Royal Swim Plus for $3448.50 MXN each, which included dolphin, manatee, and sea lion interactions—plus a catamaran ride (which we never received). Transportation was an extra $300 MXN, and we paid a $100 MXN animal interaction tax at check-in. Animal encounters were amazing, and the trainers were knowledgeable and kind. However, the photo package was misleading—$2200 MXN only covered dolphins, and we were shocked to be charged an additional $80 USD for manatee and sea lion photos. Also, our photographer was unpleasant- even the other family noticed it. In addition, the water, although warm, was full of seaweeds. Buffet food was poor—dry chicken, brittle rice, and bland fish. Total cost was approx. $7550 MXN (~$400 USD) for 2 people. Despite the frustrations, my child had a great time with the animals. ✅ Great dolphin, manatee, and sea lion experience ❌ Poor food, misleading photo pricing, no catamaran ride Hope this helped.
Getting booked ahead of time for a large group was a headache. We went with a small group 5 years ago and it was very easy in person and much less expensive per person. I suggest going in person last minute instead of booking online, even if it's a big group. For the tour itself, the staff was great! They were helpful, informative, and obviously love the animals. We did the biggest package and saw dolphins, manatees, and sea lions, which was wonderful. A lot of the focus is getting pictures, which I don't love. If you want photos included, you should try to negotiate that price before you start. The picture prices were $40 per photo or $550 for all.

We went for our honeymoon and just loved it there. So beautiful. We felt like we were in paradise. Everyone was so welcoming. We enjoyed Tues night's karaoke at ole Cafe and Wed mornings local food market. Food was good. Few shops to buy souvenirs. We will be back for sure!!
This place has a special place in our hearts as it is so beautiful and lots of nice people staying there. The restaurants get to know their clientele personally and you feel like you are back in the hood old days because of it. But these are not any old good old days. These are the good old days like we never experienced. Just magical.
Currently staying at the Catalonia Riveria Maya Hotel which is set within a private village with golf course, residents , shops, restaurants and Dolphina Adventuras are also within the village. It may not be the best place in the world but it’s certainly worth a try, I’ve stayed here three times in the last six years there Xcarat Parks, 5th Avenue shopping close by…. To some it up it’s a beautiful destination.
Just get there by renting a Yacht, so didn't experience the lodge, but it is a controlled access area, with apartments and a marina. Will be interesting to stay a few days here.
Awesome!! Very private and secure.full of variety of Restaurant restaurants in de Dolphin swimming area. Goos food, specially at the Pub, but not disregard the Argentinian and Mexican Restaurant are awesome , quality food and overall excellent service. Stores, mini market, money exchages, boutiques, and many others services are available as golf cart prople in the comm are polite and helpful. They all treat you nice.!!@
Wonderful place for a family vacation! Behind the gates it feels very safe and we were happy to walk around, visit the shops, eat at the restaurants and enjoy the beach. There are several hotels in the area, we stayed at a condo which allowed us to spread out and have plenty of space. This is also where the Dolphin Discovery is located so while walking around you are able to see the dolphins, sea lions and manatees up close!
Had a wonderful time, service was great, food was excellent! Stayed 5 days, room was always clean and stocked with a few nice touches and gifts from the staff/hotel such as champagne, chocolates, tequila samples, show tickets.. Room service was on point anytime day or night with a huge selection of snacks and entree's and drink's! Drinks of every color of the rainbow! All included in our room package and worked at all the restaurants and bars throughout the resort.. There were no fewer than 5 Restaurants or Cafe's, all of various cousines, coffee shops, bars, and drink refill points around the hotel and beaches. Saw a different show on the beach nightly, fire dancers, acrobatics, music, movies on the beach, private dinners, dance parties.. Many local attractions for those wanting to spend the money, shops, a dolphin show which can include swimming with them and other photo opportunities.. We enjoyed our time there so much that the Mrs went back for a girls weekend with her mother and sister the following year. It's Mexico so of course certain precautions were taken while traveling, stayed pretty much on site once we got there, only rode with the hotels shuttle service, there was more than enough to do at the resort without venturing into the local town Playa Carmen, which is actually very nice, (I've been there on an previous trip to Cancun) but better with a larger group. It wasn't the newest place down there, and kids were allowed as well, so thats a factor for some.. but we had a great time, the price fit our budget and we felt safe and relaxed while there.
Amazing dolphin experience. Fernando was our trainer and he was so patient with our three kids. He took the time to explain everything to them and make sure they were comfortable. He made the experience so great! If your child is smaller than 4’6” they cannot do the sea lion experience.

FANTASTIC experience at Ecopark Kantun Chi. We did the Grotto experience which includes a guided tour to all of the cenotes as well as the cave experience where you swim and walk through the cave. Rene was our guide and was outstanding! He pointed out numerous types of birds and lizards during our tour, answered all questions that we had. The restaurant is delicious, drinks, food, all of it!! I got the pork and it had great flavor! Incredible experience and you have access to the cenotes after your tour if you want to spend the rest of the day there. The entire park is beautiful, shaded, and endless paths to wander and explore. Definitely a must do if you are in the area!
Truly a spectacular collection of cenotes. We did 4 cenotes while we were here and it was a great experience. They have a restaurant on site, which is really convenient. Showers and changing rooms included. A beautiful spot in the middle of the jungle.
We had a private tour for 8 people. It was about 4 hours and included a full meal. If you go with a group, only rent 1 locker because they are huge. The grounds are lush and beautiful. There is a LARGE variety of wildlife to see on your small touring walk. I especially loved the history lesson we received on each cenote throughout the day. We purchased our tickets in advance. Those of us who have our residency received a reduced rate and buying the tickets in advance afforded our guest a nice discount. When we walked up, the were waiting for us and immediately stated our party's name. If you can't swim, no worries, the life vest are PHENOMENAL! Make sure you bring water shoes.
This was our first time visiting a Cenote, this place is so peaceful and we just walked around and followed the path to different cenotes. You could kayak and/or swim in one if you prefer. It was a fantastic experience being with nature and what nature had to offer. Definitely an experience you should not be missing when in the area.
We couldn't decide which cenote to visit in the area because there are so many and the guided tours seem to take you to all the same ones! Kantun Chi ticked all the boxes for us, there is 5 different cenotes, caving, great facilities and fantastic food! All of which are included in the full package which we would definitely recommend. This place was the highlight of our holiday in Riviera Maya. Beautifully kept, not too busy and welcoming!
My wife and I just went on this magical guided tour of Kantun Chi. We really enjoyed our experience! Our guide, Jose Carlos, was so helpful and engaging. His excitement for the Eco-park was inspiring, it really created a comfortable experience for the both of us. We definitely recommend giving it a shot if you’re up for some adventure. The underground river is a bit more adventurous, so if you fear tight spaces, it might not be for you. Overall, it was a beautiful step into a piece of culture and nature.
This place is absolutely incredible! I came across it online while searching for a more local experience, and wow…. this ended up being the highlight of our entire trip. We purchased the tickets directly online. From the moment we arrived, the friendly staff greeted us and provided outstanding customer service. Our underground tour began right away after we were given life jackets, then our guide took us to explore three stunning cenotes. Lunchtime came around and damn..!! It was a complete surprise, I was expecting something quick or similar to amusement park food, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. The meal looked and tasted like it came straight out of a 5-star restaurant. It was delicious! After lunch, we continued visiting the cenotes and were amazed to find that we had each one completely to ourselves, as most other guests had already left the park. It made the experience feel even more magical and peaceful. Note: The park does not offer transportation. Don’t get ripped off by the hotel taxis. We were being charged $1,200 pesos each way. So we walked to 5th avenue and took a colectivo for $40 pesos each. You can even take a taxi here they are way cheaper. It drops you off directly in front of the location. From there you can walk to the entrance. On the way back we walked to Barcelo hotel and sat in the bench that is located there. The colectivo ($40) picked us up and brought us to Playa Del Carmen where we took a taxi ($100).
Lovely experience! There were four cenotes open to the public all in the one facility and it was nice to experience the different vibes each of them had to offer. Some of them we only swam in and others we used the provided kayaks to explore deeper into the caves. We came late in the day on a Friday and were some of the only people there. I would go back but take a tour next time!

My family had a great time interacting with the dolphins and learning more about them. I attempted to buy my tickets online but for a date and time after our departure. I wasn’t able to get in touch with anyone by calling, whatsapp, email, nada. We visited after our arrival to the resort and were able to change the date without any issues. No jewelry, (lock them in your safe) and no sunscreen. Take your ID… not sure if it was because I paid online. Entrance fees are expensive and photos are ridiculously priced. Especially to be emailed… 8 for $149 or all for $249. They will be the best and are great photos since there is no way someone on the sideline could get good videos due to placement & vantage point in favor of their photographer. The dolphin experience is worth the memories though, which are absolutely priceless. My teens loved it.
Honest review here it goes If you’re looking for dolphin experience or encounter… GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. First to start, they say they allow you to take pictures they basically don’t they have these bushes to cover the people taking pictures and the only opening they have to take pictures in between the bushes they shoo you away. So I stepped back and the photographer lady wanted to stand in my way PURPOSEFULLY. so then after when they wanted me to take my son to interact with the dolphin they didn’t even allow me to stay outside and take pictures on purpose they made me bring him in and stand there waiting while phone in hand not being able to take a video of the dolphin with my son Long story short go somewhere else these people are extremely money hungry and the whole package charge u cheapest 120$ and No photos included 1 single photo they tried to charge us 40$ the staff is mostly unfriendly even when we was about to leave my son grabbed a dolphin toy and the guy took it from him and said if the toy falls on the floor I have to pay for it extremely bad experience 1.5 out of 5 stars real honest review You can see the photo here down below mind you she doing is on purpose not even taking a photo at that moment
I'm very neat experience. Although I wish that they had more information on the dolphins or someone there who could answer questions about the dolphins. The trainers seem to have a real connection with the dolphins and the dolphins are happy and cared for. It's very cool how you can observe the dolphins at any time of day. Even when they are not doing your enrichment or private sessions with guests.
To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to express my profound disappointment and deep concern regarding the conditions in which dolphins are kept at the Delfinario located within the Barcelo Riviera Maya resort. My recent visit to this facility was deeply disturbing and left me with serious questions about the ethical treatment of these intelligent and sensitive marine mammals. The enclosures housing the dolphins appeared to be shockingly small and shallow, offering what seemed like an incredibly restricted and unnatural environment for these animals. Observing them in these confined spaces was distressing, and it is difficult to imagine how their physical and psychological needs can possibly be met under such circumstances. Dolphins are known to be highly social, wide-ranging creatures, and the limitations imposed by these small pools seem inherently inhumane. It is my sincere hope that Barcelo and the operators of this delfinario will seriously reconsider their practices and prioritize the welfare of these animals. The current situation appears to severely compromise the dolphins' quality of life and flies in the face of growing global awareness regarding the ethical treatment of captive marine life. I urge those responsible to explore alternative solutions that would allow these dolphins to live in a more natural and spacious environment, ideally in a sanctuary that can provide for their complex needs. The entertainment of tourists should not come at the cost of the well-being and suffering of these magnificent creatures. I implore potential visitors to consider the ethical implications of supporting facilities that maintain marine mammals in such conditions. By raising our voices and making conscious choices, we can advocate for a more compassionate and respectful approach to these remarkable animals.
Great experience. Knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend booking your excursions in advance. First booking of the day is best as there will be less people in your group. Photos are a little pricey.
Dolphins are well looked after and there was a huge focus on education and preservation of the oceans and the aquatic life. My children were so happy for the incredible opportunity to learn and experience these beautiful creatures 💕
They were so cute and loved the show. Pool is a bit small and didn't get to swim with them . They seemed very well treated. We were without the kids and still liked it.
Had a blast! The instructors connection with the dolphins was apparent. He said he trained with them for 4 years! Amazing experience!

Our favourite beach in Playa by far. The entrance fee is 60 pesos per person. The sand is so soft, the water was clear and beautiful. I saw a sting ray and plenty of fish while snorkelling. The restaurant itself is near the beach, but the tables are right on the beach. It’s a bit pricey when it comes to the food and drinks. We rented an umbrella and two chairs for 400 pesos. Absolutely beautiful during sunset.
The beach itself is beautiful, you can see fish and the water is transparent. They charged 100 pesos per person at the entrance. To rent a chair you will need $400 pesos. A huge problem is that there is robbers that go walking all around the shore robbing the people that go swimming, at first they come close to you, stand around you, and then they assault you in groups. I watch this robbers steal the things from 2 Italians and a girl that had 2 dogs. They took their things and throw their cellphones and wallets into the forest. Be careful and please go in a big group and never leave your things unattended!
Simply stunning. The water is lovely and clear and the beach is perfect for relaxing. This is one of the best beaches in Mexico and a true paradise.
Entry cost 70MXN per person, children under 3 are Free and if you go by car you get fee parking. The restaurant there close at 5pm but the beach still open till 6pm. It’s a very nice beach with clear water and white sand where you can swim and rent your chilling place. Showers are available too and the area looks fantastic with the palm tree 🌴. I recommend going there
awesome beach, not very crowded. you can get some drinks and bring with you there to enjoy it the most. to get inside you something like 300 pesos per person, worth it.
Lovely beach. Drive down the second road entrance if coming from Tulum end and it's 50peso per person, you're given a yellow wristband. Park just ahead of the beach clubs and it's free. Come early and get a palm tree for a blissful beach day!
Pros: The beach was nice and relatively clean. It was OK to swim. Cons: The entrance fee was 80 pesos/ person vs 50 peasos/ car last year. Too long time to wait for food.
Amazing beach not far from Playa del Carmen! It is in about 15 on public bus (colectivo) from the center of the city. Beach is very beautiful and not crowded, in some places there are almost nobody. There are free bars and cafes (I advice to try quesadillas with seafood). Entrance had to paid. There are several entrances and the price differs from 30 to 80 mxn.

We didn't stay in their rooms as the review suggests. We only participated in the dolphin & manatee attraction. The orientation was short and sweet. The instructors were bilingual which was a plus. The instructors who were in charge of our session were professional and talked to the animals with a lot of respect. They are very by the books when it comes to handling the animals in front of us. We got to touch the animals multiple times throughout our session. The only con is that they offer a free buffet with your purchase but the food is unfortunately very poor quality. A lot of the items felt like they were sitting around since the morning. Some items were very greasy and inedible. Mashed potatoes had a texture like they were made from a box. Stick to the fruit and drinks here and you'll be fine.
We are from Southern California and have been coming to PA for years. Haven't been back since the new owners took over The Beach Club. This is our last stay at PA, not because the area isn't beautiful, it is, or that the individual condos are well kept and accommodating, as they are, it is because The Beach Club "blast" music from 8am to 10pm EVERYDAY. If you are on the beach you hear a boom, boom noise all day. Even hear it in your condo and we are halfway down the beach. If we can hear their music halfway down the beach and in our condo with the AC going and doors closed, I can't imagine how loud it is at the hotel. It is our understanding that the homeowners and HOA have asked them to turn the music down so others can enjoy their home, time on the beach and surroundings. The new owners refuse to be considerate of others and continue to blast the music everyday. So sad as we loved PA.
The staff are untrained, forgetful and apparently can’t see well; my margarita arrived with not one but TWO massive dead flies and I never got my food order . .. although it’s all in the final bill. The management do not care about you having a good experience. This place sucks to be blunt. They don’t give towels after paying 50usd for a beach day pass lol. The day pass is just to get in and they do not have towels.. It’s a joke. Our guest wanted to order more drinks but we had no service. The manager was just seated in his phone the entire time.. it was more self serve with a cost. Don’t waste your money or time.
Ot a 4 star, maybe 3. Not much services in 5he hotel - not tours, no spa. The rooms are big and good, great balcony on the ocean. Beach bar is nice thanks to its location. Foods and drinks so so, legit but nothing special. Behind the hotel there are many restaurants, all ok and none is amazing. There is a nice reef you can reach from the beach, not bad for snorkelling. Overall very relaxing, not many people, good value for money.
We had a two week vacation in Puerto Aventuras and we found this beautiful place to spend the day at the beach. The place is fully renovated so everything is shinny and new. The beach even if we were here during sargasso season they did they’re best to keep it clean, so we were lucky enough to have a clean beach. And we really appreciate that because that was hard work! The food and the drinks at the beach and the restaurant were always served by one of the most friendly and respectful waiters we ever had, I want to give a huge thank you to Oscar, Hugo and Veronica for they’re outstanding service and hospitality! And of course to all of the other employees here. We truly had an amazing experience here, can’t wait to come back.
We have been coming 25+ years and are residents in the community. The upgrades to the hotel look more modern and appealing. The restaurant atmosphere is very nice and relaxing. The menu could be expanded more to appeal towards the setting. Fries? Wings? Tacos? Nachos? More options for the pizzas? Calamari? Chicken tenders? Traditional ceviche? What do kids eat when they are here? It seems that these are the concerns being brought up by other guests. The food we did have was good btw.
New hotel administration here… - If you have a room you better bring cash at the pool bar because you can’t charge on the room and need to pay right away - If you want to come for a day pass and get a 4 persons “palapa”, well it comes with 2 chairs only and without towels (bring your own 😅) - If you want to order a cocktail be ready to wait and have flies deep in your cocktail - If you order food it will be a long wait and terrible for the price charged So… just go somewhere else if you want peace and good time
As locals we use this beach club often, but new rules , management and prices have made the place not very appealing. Very sad. Expensive and unappealing (unaffordable) to spend a few hours at the beach and have breakfast or lunch. Only targeting tourists.

Beautiful place to explore at Puerto Aventuras, a great option to walk through the jungle, passing cenote and jumping into clear ocean water! It is private, but you can walk in or ask for access. Mention you are visiting La Caleta, and the security will give you. Bring some drinks and snacks for you to enjoy a full day at this gem of the Riviera Maya. Helming bird rental has a few options in the area to stay and enjoy all these beautiful places that Puerto Aventuras has to offer. Properties las villa 34 or Casa Caleta. We invite you to enjoy it with us! With your partner of the family!
The path shown on Google Maps is not correct, the entrance is a bit further down the street through the jungle, maybe 10 or 20 meter after the construction site. Take the first path into the jungle on the right side of the street and then keep to the right. We could snorkel a bit, no sargasso, but the sight was a bit foggy, I'm sure it will be better in a few weeks. Enjoy 💛 We saw many fish and even a stingray.
Awesome and quiet spot where you wouldn't expect it.
Very nice place, for snorkeling, swimming, and relaxing. Kinda hard to find, Google maps doesn't do very good job.
Cant really rate the place itself. Tried to get here going through barcelo and Puerto aventura, neither would let us through.
Wonderful experience! So much to see andr such a relaxing way to do it!
wow a really nice place and many fishes
