Beach
Outdoor Activities
Playa Xpu-Ha is a stunning beach along the Riviera Maya, known for its clear turquoise waters and wide stretch of white sandy shore. The beach offers a relaxed atmosphere with restaurants, bars, and live music from morning until night. It's less crowded than other nearby beaches, making it perfect for those seeking peace and tranquility by the sea. Families and couples love the shallow waters and variety of water sports available, including snorkeling and kite surfing.
This is a great choice for a beach. Most of the beaches are associated with a resort, who charges a lot for outside visitors. This one only charge 100 MXN per person with parking and bath facilities. You can walk a couple of hundred meters and have a secluded experience. Definitely recommend
Jakob S — Google review
This is a beach XPU-Ha, on it there’s a bunch of beach clubs we only went to one and there’s diff roads to each it was a little confusing and we came in around 230 so there wasn’t much time left because most of them close at 5 PM. But these beautiful beaches are so beautiful. It’s like when you think of Caribbean, this is exactly what you think of. The Quintessential Mexican Caribbean Beach… not crowded and so so beautiful. Here in March and the Seaweed was fine? Got lucky maybe I dunno… The people next to us had specifically come here from Akanal to snorkel so I guess it’s a really great snorkel place and you can see there’s a reef way out because you can see the water break, anyway we’re going back again today even though we’re at a really fancy all inclusive and Playa Del Carmen because it was that good!!
Teresa T — Google review
Beautiful beach and if you go a bit further out you can literally have the beach to yourself which is a nice escape from the crowded beaches in Tulum. Unfortunately there was a lot of algae so we didn’t go in the water a lot but still a very nice experience!
Andrea P — Google review
The beach itself is beautiful, you can see fish and the water is transparent. They charged 100 pesos per person at the entrance. To rent a chair you will need $400 pesos. A huge problem is that there is robbers that go walking all around the shore robbing the people that go swimming, at first they come close to you, stand around you, and then they assault you in groups. I watch this robbers steal the things from 2 Italians and a girl that had 2 dogs. They took their things and throw their cellphones and wallets into the forest. Be careful and please go in a big group and never leave your things unattended!
Blake J — Google review
Our favourite beach in Playa by far. The entrance fee is 60 pesos per person. The sand is so soft, the water was clear and beautiful. I saw a sting ray and plenty of fish while snorkelling. The restaurant itself is near the beach, but the tables are right on the beach. It’s a bit pricey when it comes to the food and drinks. We rented an umbrella and two chairs for 400 pesos. Absolutely beautiful during sunset.
Julaine H — Google review
Entry cost 70MXN per person, children under 3 are Free and if you go by car you get fee parking. The restaurant there close at 5pm but the beach still open till 6pm. It’s a very nice beach with clear water and white sand where you can swim and rent your chilling place. Showers are available too and the area looks fantastic with the palm tree 🌴. I recommend going there
Hussain A — Google review
awesome beach, not very crowded. you can get some drinks and bring with you there to enjoy it the most. to get inside you something like 300 pesos per person, worth it.
Babak B — Google review
Lovely beach. Drive down the second road entrance if coming from Tulum end and it's 50peso per person, you're given a yellow wristband. Park just ahead of the beach clubs and it's free. Come early and get a palm tree for a blissful beach day!

Ecopark Kantun Chi is a hidden gem in the jungle of Riviera Maya, Mexico. It boasts a collection of unique cenotes and underground rivers that were revered by the ancient Maya as sacred wells. The park offers the Magical Waters tour, which allows visitors to explore five cenotes and visit a Mayan shrine. With its variety of flora and fauna, it's an ideal destination for adventurous activities like kayaking, swimming, and exploring underground caverns.
FANTASTIC experience at Ecopark Kantun Chi. We did the Grotto experience which includes a guided tour to all of the cenotes as well as the cave experience where you swim and walk through the cave. Rene was our guide and was outstanding! He pointed out numerous types of birds and lizards during our tour, answered all questions that we had. The restaurant is delicious, drinks, food, all of it!! I got the pork and it had great flavor! Incredible experience and you have access to the cenotes after your tour if you want to spend the rest of the day there. The entire park is beautiful, shaded, and endless paths to wander and explore. Definitely a must do if you are in the area!
Melissa C — Google review
Truly a spectacular collection of cenotes. We did 4 cenotes while we were here and it was a great experience. They have a restaurant on site, which is really convenient. Showers and changing rooms included. A beautiful spot in the middle of the jungle.
Steven O — Google review
We had a private tour for 8 people. It was about 4 hours and included a full meal. If you go with a group, only rent 1 locker because they are huge. The grounds are lush and beautiful. There is a LARGE variety of wildlife to see on your small touring walk. I especially loved the history lesson we received on each cenote throughout the day. We purchased our tickets in advance. Those of us who have our residency received a reduced rate and buying the tickets in advance afforded our guest a nice discount. When we walked up, the were waiting for us and immediately stated our party's name. If you can't swim, no worries, the life vest are PHENOMENAL! Make sure you bring water shoes.
Dr. P — Google review
This was our first time visiting a Cenote, this place is so peaceful and we just walked around and followed the path to different cenotes. You could kayak and/or swim in one if you prefer. It was a fantastic experience being with nature and what nature had to offer. Definitely an experience you should not be missing when in the area.
Ajo G — Google review
My partner and I had an absolutely wonderful time at Kantun Chi Ecopark! We did the guided tour of the cenotes + the underground cave and would highly recommend the full package as it was definitely a magical experience! Our guide, Rene, was fantastic! We spent about 4-5h there and got to swim in 3 out of the 5 cenotes during the tour. You also get free time after the tour to explore the park if you want to revisit some of the cenotes. As someone who can’t swim very well, I felt comfortable following along and they provided a life jacket, mask, and snorkel. Lunch is also included and we loved the ambience and food at the restaurant!
Cherry — Google review
We couldn't decide which cenote to visit in the area because there are so many and the guided tours seem to take you to all the same ones! Kantun Chi ticked all the boxes for us, there is 5 different cenotes, caving, great facilities and fantastic food! All of which are included in the full package which we would definitely recommend. This place was the highlight of our holiday in Riviera Maya. Beautifully kept, not too busy and welcoming!
Craig T — Google review
My wife and I just went on this magical guided tour of Kantun Chi. We really enjoyed our experience! Our guide, Jose Carlos, was so helpful and engaging. His excitement for the Eco-park was inspiring, it really created a comfortable experience for the both of us. We definitely recommend giving it a shot if you’re up for some adventure. The underground river is a bit more adventurous, so if you fear tight spaces, it might not be for you. Overall, it was a beautiful step into a piece of culture and nature.
Anthony P — Google review
This place is absolutely incredible! I came across it online while searching for a more local experience, and wow…. this ended up being the highlight of our entire trip. We purchased the tickets directly online. From the moment we arrived, the friendly staff greeted us and provided outstanding customer service. Our underground tour began right away after we were given life jackets, then our guide took us to explore three stunning cenotes. Lunchtime came around and damn..!! It was a complete surprise, I was expecting something quick or similar to amusement park food, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. The meal looked and tasted like it came straight out of a 5-star restaurant. It was delicious! After lunch, we continued visiting the cenotes and were amazed to find that we had each one completely to ourselves, as most other guests had already left the park. It made the experience feel even more magical and peaceful. Note: The park does not offer transportation. Don’t get ripped off by the hotel taxis. We were being charged $1,200 pesos each way. So we walked to 5th avenue and took a colectivo for $40 pesos each. You can even take a taxi here they are way cheaper. It drops you off directly in front of the location. From there you can walk to the entrance. On the way back we walked to Barcelo hotel and sat in the bench that is located there. The colectivo ($40) picked us up and brought us to Playa Del Carmen where we took a taxi ($100).

Dolphinaris Akumal offers an unforgettable experience for those looking to connect with dolphins in a beautiful setting. Visitors rave about the friendly atmosphere and the delightful interactions with these intelligent creatures, making it a highlight of their trip. While some may find the pool area on the smaller side, the overall ambiance is charming and enjoyable. Many guests appreciate how well-treated the dolphins are, ensuring that both adults and children alike can enjoy this unique adventure without any worries.
My family had a great time interacting with the dolphins and learning more about them. I attempted to buy my tickets online but for a date and time after our departure. I wasn’t able to get in touch with anyone by calling, whatsapp, email, nada. We visited after our arrival to the resort and were able to change the date without any issues. No jewelry, (lock them in your safe) and no sunscreen. Take your ID… not sure if it was because I paid online. Entrance fees are expensive and photos are ridiculously priced. Especially to be emailed… 8 for $149 or all for $249. They will be the best and are great photos since there is no way someone on the sideline could get good videos due to placement & vantage point in favor of their photographer. The dolphin experience is worth the memories though, which are absolutely priceless. My teens loved it.
Errin L — Google review
This place can seem to be luxury and interesting, but all of this is nothing when you realize the main attraction is having animals inside a small container. I hope who is reading this do not support these activities and place until there is a change.

Honest review here it goes If you’re looking for dolphin experience or encounter… GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. First to start, they say they allow you to take pictures they basically don’t they have these bushes to cover the people taking pictures and the only opening they have to take pictures in between the bushes they shoo you away. So I stepped back and the photographer lady wanted to stand in my way PURPOSEFULLY. so then after when they wanted me to take my son to interact with the dolphin they didn’t even allow me to stay outside and take pictures on purpose they made me bring him in and stand there waiting while phone in hand not being able to take a video of the dolphin with my son Long story short go somewhere else these people are extremely money hungry and the whole package charge u cheapest 120$ and No photos included 1 single photo they tried to charge us 40$ the staff is mostly unfriendly even when we was about to leave my son grabbed a dolphin toy and the guy took it from him and said if the toy falls on the floor I have to pay for it extremely bad experience 1.5 out of 5 stars real honest review You can see the photo here down below mind you she doing is on purpose not even taking a photo at that moment
Deebo D — Google review
I'm very neat experience. Although I wish that they had more information on the dolphins or someone there who could answer questions about the dolphins. The trainers seem to have a real connection with the dolphins and the dolphins are happy and cared for. It's very cool how you can observe the dolphins at any time of day. Even when they are not doing your enrichment or private sessions with guests.
Courtney B — Google review
To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to express my profound disappointment and deep concern regarding the conditions in which dolphins are kept at the Delfinario located within the Barcelo Riviera Maya resort. My recent visit to this facility was deeply disturbing and left me with serious questions about the ethical treatment of these intelligent and sensitive marine mammals. The enclosures housing the dolphins appeared to be shockingly small and shallow, offering what seemed like an incredibly restricted and unnatural environment for these animals. Observing them in these confined spaces was distressing, and it is difficult to imagine how their physical and psychological needs can possibly be met under such circumstances. Dolphins are known to be highly social, wide-ranging creatures, and the limitations imposed by these small pools seem inherently inhumane. It is my sincere hope that Barcelo and the operators of this delfinario will seriously reconsider their practices and prioritize the welfare of these animals. The current situation appears to severely compromise the dolphins' quality of life and flies in the face of growing global awareness regarding the ethical treatment of captive marine life. I urge those responsible to explore alternative solutions that would allow these dolphins to live in a more natural and spacious environment, ideally in a sanctuary that can provide for their complex needs. The entertainment of tourists should not come at the cost of the well-being and suffering of these magnificent creatures. I implore potential visitors to consider the ethical implications of supporting facilities that maintain marine mammals in such conditions. By raising our voices and making conscious choices, we can advocate for a more compassionate and respectful approach to these remarkable animals.

Great experience. Knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend booking your excursions in advance. First booking of the day is best as there will be less people in your group. Photos are a little pricey.

Dolphins are well looked after and there was a huge focus on education and preservation of the oceans and the aquatic life. My children were so happy for the incredible opportunity to learn and experience these beautiful creatures 💕

Caleta Chac-hal-al is a hidden gem nestled in the southernmost part of Puerto Aventuras, offering an enchanting escape for those willing to venture off the beaten path. This secluded inlet features a rugged coastline and remnants of ancient ruins, making it a fascinating spot for exploration. While there’s no traditional beach here, visitors can enjoy scenic walks through lush jungle trails that lead to stunning cenotes and crystal-clear ocean waters.
Beautiful place to explore at Puerto Aventuras, a great option to walk through the jungle, passing cenote and jumping into clear ocean water! It is private, but you can walk in or ask for access. Mention you are visiting La Caleta, and the security will give you. Bring some drinks and snacks for you to enjoy a full day at this gem of the Riviera Maya. We invite you to enjoy it with us! With your partner of the family!

The path shown on Google Maps is not correct, the entrance is a bit further down the street through the jungle, maybe 10 or 20 meter after the construction site. Take the first path into the jungle on the right side of the street and then keep to the right. We could snorkel a bit, no sargasso, but the sight was a bit foggy, I'm sure it will be better in a few weeks. Enjoy 💛 We saw many fish and even a stingray.

Chez Waffle is an adorable eatery located at the end of a charming street in Puerto Aventuras. The portions offered are substantial, so it is advisable to order accordingly. The food quality is excellent as well. One can begin their dining experience with a delightful cappuccino and a smoothie consisting of peanut butter and banana, both of which are highly enjoyable. As for the main course options, there are both keto and traditional waffles available.
This is such a great place to find in Puerto Aventuras! We felt so welcomed when we first walked in and there’s great seating inside or a beautiful area outside. Lots of choice on the menu and the food tastes amazing! The pictures really don’t do it justice! We also had a milkshake which was delicious! Highly recommended going here if you get a chance.

I went this morning here to have breakfast. The chilaquiles with eggs and red salsa were a 20/10 I think by far the best I have in a few years in Mexico. Also the place is nice, actually it is really nice, the view on the water in the back yard is beautiful. Friendly and attentive waiters. Great place, I will for sure come back

We went from Cancun to Tulum to Bacalar and now we are in Puerto Aventuras for our last stop and I can say this is the best place/hotel ever. We rented a golfcar because it is like a luxery resort place. You are very safe here and the beach is the prettiest I have ever seen. For this price and service it is 5 stars and it will make your trip to Mexico go to a higher level!

Adorable restaurant situated at the end of the prettiest street in Puerto Aventuras. Portions were huge so order accordingly. Quality was great too. Started with a cappuccino and peanut butter and banana smoothie, which were delicious. For the main course we had a keto waffle and a traditional waffle topped with boneless buffalo wings. The keto waffle did not taste good, but the toppings were delicious. You could probably get the same toppings on a traditional waffle and it would be fantastic. The traditional waffle with wings was great. It had a drizzle of their homemade ranch on top, which was fabulous. Next time I will order a side of ranch as well. Everyone was so nice and accommodating. I really like this place.

Seafood restaurant
Pelican Point in Puerto Aventuras is a standout restaurant known for its warm welcome and fresh fare. The owner, Guillermo, is not only knowledgeable but also entertaining, leaving visitors eager to try everything on the menu. The Caesar Salad for two is a must-try, prepared tableside. Accessible via a public footpath with some overgrown areas, the restaurant offers beautiful views and well-maintained beaches.
A Must-Visit in Puerto Aventuras: Pelican Point Restaurant Excels Again! Pelican Point never disappoints! I had the pleasure of dining there again today, and it was a truly exceptional experience. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. For starters, I dove into the mussels in white wine. The flavor was absolutely incredible – a perfect balance of savory and herbaceous. The clams in their shells were equally delightful – the freshness shone through in every bite. But the real star of the show was the centollo crab for my main course. Spectacular doesn't even begin to describe it! The preparation was flawless, allowing the crab's natural sweetness to take center stage. To top it all off, I finished with a decadent chocolate mousse. It was the perfect ending to a truly memorable meal. This wasn't my first visit to Pelican Point – I first came in 2016, and it's become a must-do on every trip to Puerto Aventuras. The quality of the food is undeniable, and the flavors are truly mind-blowing. But it's not just the food; the service is outstanding as well. Guillermo, the owner, was fantastic – attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Expect to pay a premium for this kind of quality, but it's absolutely worth every penny. Pelican Point is a culinary gem in Puerto Aventuras, and I can't wait to return for another incredible meal on my next visit!

This place was fantastic! The service was phenominal! I pulled my hand fan out because I was very hot and the (possibly owner or manager?) came and brought a large fan and directed it towards our table without us even having to say a word (it was very refreshing). They had a live saxophone player and they brought cute little flower clips for all the women (it was almost Mother's day). I had some of the best food I had in Mexico here. The rolls they serve before dinner were all different types to satisfy many pallettes. They had vegetarian menu options and one vegan option but could be served a few different ways. I had what I would equate to fettuccine alfredo and it was wonderful. We also shared a dessert which was delicious and had a dessert coffee (also delicious). I normally remember the names of the food/drink but it took me a month to write this review. I had a hard time finding it again on Google Maps but this experience was so wonderful I wanted to make sure they got this review! I will also shout out the gentleman that served us was so wonderful and accommodating, I would highly recommend this place to anyone! I will mention, this is a very nice so expect to pay for it. It is definitely on the higher price spectrum but you get what you pay for!

I usually don’t leave reviews but this was extremely bad, worst place we have eaten at in PA so far. It’s so pretentious (trying to be french?), and expensive for what it is. The tuna steak was cold, 5 fries that came with it were also cold and weren’t cooked fresh (looked a few days old), boiled green beans - also cold. The place was empty (makes sense) and smelled of sadness and bankruptcy. Just go eat somewhere else.

Everything is wonderful. Guermo, the owner takes pride in his menu and each ingredient. He is extremely knowledgeable and inviting. The care and expertise that he portrays should be envied be every restaurateur.

Whilst spending 8 days in Puerto Aventuras we tried many of the best restaurants. There are many good options but, standing out far and above the rest, was Pelican Point. After being warmly welcomed by Guillermo, the host and owner, he brought refreshments and proceeded to explain the fresh fare and preparation. He is extremely knowledgeable and entertaining and left us, mouths watering, wanting one of everything. We started with the delicious Caesar Salad for two, made tableside. Next we had two of the three fresh catch entrees, Wahoo and Grouper. These dishes, prepared as recommended by Guillermo, were exceptional. There were also excellent shellfish and meat / poultry choices on his extensive menu. Excellent bar with a great wine and cocktail selection. The restaurant is in a beautiful setting. Great ambience with marina views. Highly recommend Pelican Point as one of your finest dinner choices in PA!

I only walked here using the public footpath (a bit overgrown in places) approaching from the west. There are signs stating this is private but apparently this only applies to the furniture. Beautiful spot. I walked on the big rocks all the way to the point. Not much to do here if you're not staying as a guest but the beach is beautiful and well maintained.

Great place. Very cozy and classy at the same time. Beautiful music. Exceptional service and food. Very nice owner and overall experience. Wide selection of daily catch and raw seafood.

Tourist trap. Expensive menu for what they offered. Owner/Manager/head waiter is a charlatan.Took about an hour for the food to arrive. One party member asked for their lobster to not be spicy, came out as the spiciest thing on the table. Others asked for fish and it was overcooked and inedible. Ordered a dirty Martini and somehow came out with chili in the brine undrinkable. Don’t come here it’s not worth it like most places in this place.
