Visiting Mehrangarh Fort is always an amazing experience — I’ve been here twice, with a gap of 10 years, and the feeling of awe remains the same. The fort’s beauty and grandeur are truly timeless. Parking is available below the fort in a large designated area for around ₹50 per car. From there, you walk up to the entry gate to purchase your tickets. You also have the option to hire a guide or rent an audio device (about ₹180 per device). The audio guide works with numbered points displayed around the fort, making it easy to follow along with the history. There’s also a lift facility that can take you directly to the top, allowing you to explore the fort from top to bottom. However, if you take the lift, you will skip points 1–6, so make sure to listen to those explanations before you start, since the audio device has to be returned at point 33. Exploring the fort properly takes at least 1–2 hours, and every corner feels worth it. I also tried the Makhaniya Lassi at their café — definitely a good choice to refresh yourself during the visit. The staff at the fort are very humble and helpful, which adds to the experience. The only advice I would strongly give is: avoid visiting in the summer. The heat can be unbearable. The best time is during the core winter months.

This is one of the most important places to visit while in Jodhpur. This fort is amazing to see both inside and outside the fort. You can get here by Tuk Tuk and pay entry at the ticket office which starts at fort entrance. They accept card payments and also cash. It costs 800 Rupees per person to see the fort but worth it. You can spend approximately 2 hours here walking around and enjoying the historic buildings. It is quite warm here but there are cafes around the fort if you need to buy drinks. There are also toilets on site. I would highly recommend you visit this fort. You can also exit the fort through the Blue City side which is also another nice experience exiting the fort through the Blue City. It gets very busy from early. It is best to come at opening time which is 9am.

We visited Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur on March 1, 2025 with our family, and the experience was truly unforgettable. The fort stands as one of Rajasthan’s finest—beautifully preserved and showcasing the true splendour of Marwar’s royal heritage. From the moment you walk through the huge entrance gates, the grandeur is evident. Intricate carvings, elegant jharokhas, spacious courtyards and towering walls paint a vivid picture of the royal era. The museum is equally impressive, featuring royal costumes, weapons, miniature paintings and palanquins that perfectly capture the history and culture of Jodhpur. The entry fee is ₹200 per person, and ₹100 for senior citizens. We didn’t hire any guide but if you want you cant get guide there. For those who prefer not to climb the steep pathways, there is a lift service for ₹50 per person, which takes you directly to the main courtyard — very convenient, especially for families and elders. We spent about 2–3 hours exploring the fort at a comfortable pace. The views from the top are absolutely stunning — a full panoramic view of the Blue City, especially magical during sunset. The fort also has clean washrooms, a nice café offering tea and snacks with scenic views, and a souvenir shop with good-quality local handicrafts. Overall, Mehrangarh Fort is a must-visit in Jodhpur — grand, informative and family-friendly. A perfect mix of history, architecture and breathtaking views.

Absolutely stunning fort! The architecture, views, and museum displays are incredible. The view of the Blue City from the top is unforgettable. The fort is well maintained, clean, and has helpful staff. The audio guide adds great context to the history. It can get a bit hot, so try to visit early morning or evening. Truly a must-visit in Jodhpur!

We really loved visiting Mehrangarh Fort. It was built in 1459 by Rao Jodha and is one of the biggest forts in Rajasthan. The view from the top is amazing. Inside the fort, there is a museum where you can see old weapons, paintings, and royal items. The entry ticket is ₹200 for adults. If you have a student ID card, the ticket price becomes half. The place is very clean, well managed, and a must visit in Jodhpur.

This fort is privately run by a trust. Well maintained. They have a lift if one cannot walk up. The architecture was amazing. Rock, bricks and carved marble structures over that. If you catch the sunset it's beautiful.

A beautiful and grand modern palace that still houses the royal family of Jodhpur. Only a small section of the palace is open to the public as a museum, but it’s well-maintained and gives a glimpse into royal life. You can also see the vintage car collection of the Maharaja, which is quite fascinating. The architecture and interiors are stunning, showcasing luxury and heritage together. The gardens are vast and beautifully kept, and you’ll often spot many peacocks roaming around, especially near the lawns — though the main garden area isn’t open to the public. The palace sits atop a hill, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of Jodhpur city. Parking is available outside the main boundary. The tour is relatively short but worth visiting for the royal vibe and stunning views.

We visited Umaid Bhavan on a weekend around 12:30 PM, and as expected, it was a bit crowded. Just past the entrance, we found a stall selling delicious kulfi — a small but very welcome treat in the heat. The entry is restricted to only a limited section of the palace, mainly the central museum area. While the accessible part is relatively small compared to the entire property, it still offers beautiful glimpses of the royal interiors, vintage collections, and the palace’s history. Overall, it’s a nice stop if you’re exploring Jodhpur, but be prepared for crowds during weekends and remember that only a portion of the palace is open to the public

The palace was built with "dun-coloured" (golden – yellow) sandstone with two wings. Makrana marble has also been used, and Burmese teak wood has been used for the interior woodwork. When completed the palace had 347 rooms, several courtyards, and a large banquet hall which could accommodate 300 people.It also has vintage car musium.

This museum will make you feel like in another era. As a foreigner, it made me have a deeper understanding of Indian culture especially Rajasthan. The artifacts, the view outside, the architecture, everything is magical. We went there on weekend so it is kinda busy with lots of people but not that suffocating. Overall, it is very nice.

This is very nice to see. It is located very close to the fort. You can spend approximately 1 hour here taking nice photographs of the temple and also you can see the fort from a different perspective. The entry fee is 100 Rupees per person and they also accept card payments. There is also toilets on the grounds. If you are visiting the fort visit this place also. It gets warm very quickly here so come as early as you can. It opens at 9AM.

We visited Jaswanth Thada around 10 AM, and it turned out to be the perfect time, the place was calm with very little crowd. The white marble monument looked absolutely stunning in the morning light, and the whole atmosphere felt serene. The entry fee was ₹30 per person for Indians, and as we walked around, a musician was playing the Ghoomar tune on a Ravanhatta. The music blended beautifully with the surroundings and added so much charm to the experience. We ended up spending almost an hour here, just taking in the architecture, the views, and the peaceful ambiance. A lovely spot to unwind and enjoy Jodhpur’s heritage.

The Ghanta Ghar is a historical clock tower of Jodhpur. It is located inside the Sardar Market. The entry ticket costs around 25 rs per person. Access to the clock tower is through a series od stairs and there is no lift. The person who looks after the clock mechanism has been doing so for ages. His family is the only group of people who are able to maintain the clock as they have been doing so since the tower was made. The tower also offers great views of the city and the fort. So it is worth a visit.

Beautiful architecture and a mechanical marvel to witness the grand clock still doing it's duty after so many decades. One major disappointment is maintenance and upkeep of the monument and surroundings. It would be fantastic if the premises is maintained well.

The former capital of Rathore Clan before Mehrangarh. The park houses temple constructed by lock and key method as in Khajuraho. Stones are carved nicely and minutely. Park offers great view of the hills behind. It’s a gem for morning walker and outdoor enjoyment place for kids as it have many activities. Situated near main road Jodhpur to Khatu or Jaipur makes accessible easily.

First time here, loved it. The architecture was mesmerizing. I took at at least 10 mins to view each part of this Garden. The temple in the end was the best. Came right on time for arti, felt really blessed. The garden has so many places to click beautiful pictures. You'll have to beaware of the monkeys around, they are a lot of them. I'd recommend a visit to this place at least once if you're in Jodhpur.

Mandore was the capitol of Marwar until the capitol moved, because it was more vulnerable to attack, to Jodhpur in the mid 1400's. It was given as a marriage gift to the Rathore. Now it's a nice park full of temples, museums, and monkeys. I spent a quick 2 hours there, but there are enough trails and nooks and crannies it would take most of a day to explore everything. A restaurant and food area. Also restaurants outside the entrance. There's a train, I think it's hop-on/hop-off, I didn't use it, that takes you to the main points in the park. There's an evening laser and light show. Should charge a bit more than 25 rupee and hire some more cleaning staff Entrance 25 rupee I paid 100 rupee for a TukTuk from the fort.

I enjoy a lot the walk around the roa Jodha park. Nice and quiet place, surrounded by green. I did the green trail and took me only 35 minutes slowly walking. The yellow was only 20 minutes. You can see the wall and another nice view of the fort and blue city. Outside they have clean toilets.

A very Unique where one can find different stones and walk a trail… In a walk there’s a different bird watching, a lake and the back side of mehrangarh fort… it’s worth a watch especially for nature lovers… the ticket price is 100 rs per adult

Went for morning trekking and it's a awesome place for bird watching . There are different tracks as per difficulty level, I was suggested for yellow tack however that's too easy and short, tried others too and on red found a lotus pond. Perfect view of fort and lake. I recommend to check those stones displayed outside the ticket counter, they are fossiles and some are very unique.

It was a very nice experience of trekking of 2 KM by foot through rocky desert hills with the experience of a lot of different varieties of plant species, birds, squirrels, lake and fishes, reptiles, wild pigs and vast view of Mehrangarh Fort and its boundary walls, zip lines. It will take a minimum of half an hour and maximum up to your interest. Entrance fee of Rs. 100/- to be paid and a Guided tours are also available with additional fees.

Nice green park to get away from 'beep beep beep' and give the head some much needed peace. Always a good idea when travelling in India to find a quiet place for an hour or two. Guards there were very sweet at the entrance too.

It doesn't have much to offer except the steep staircase you need to climb down. If the lighting is right the photographs you take might look good, otherwise they'll just look dirty. Not too crowded but it was very hot when we went. Overall worth a small visit after the Ghanta Ghar.

Its a historical location surrounded by several houses abd shops, nearby you van take a walk and look at why they call the place as blue city. The architecture is splendid, many locals come here for photoshoots. A must place to visit in blue city. There was no much crowd and no place for parking as well, would recommend to go by bike or auto or walk

The toorji ka jhalra is a historic stepwell in Jodhpur. It was a means of collecting rainwater for storage during the harsh summer months. Although stepwells have been in disuse for most parts of the century, people still gather here looking at the space as a hangout spot, to catch up with friends or just to enjoy the quiet. I visited during the Jodhpur arts festival and it was so nice to see the stepwell bringing in so many people in a new way of engagement. Do visit when in jodhpur!

The architecture of this historical site is absolutely amazing! The details, the patterns, and the design itself is wonderful! 💯 It made us rest and relaxed after some time of wandering.

This is my first time for Birdwatching activity conducted by Rao Jodha Desert Park environmental study group. Due to great care and maintenance this place reserves natural habitat for plants and animals. The old buildings in surrounding lakes impart vintage lifestyle also.

My family was so happy to be here. This is Mind blowing place and a place where we could find a peace of life.

Perfect picnic spot in jodhpur

Balsamand Lake is a lake situated 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) from Jodhpur on Jodhpur-Mandore Road. This lake is a popular picnic spot, built in 1159 AD by Gurjara-Pratihara rulers. It was designed as a water reservoir to provide water to Mandore. The lake has a length of one kilometre (0.62 mi), breadth of 50 metres (160 ft) and a depth of 15 metres (49 ft). The Balsamand Lake Palace was built later as a summer palace on its shore. The lake is surrounded by lush green gardens that house groves of trees like mango, papaya, pomegranate, guava and plum. Animals and birds like the jackal and peacock also call this place home. Balsamand Lake is an artificial lake that was built way back in 1159 AD by Balak Rao Parihar as a water reservoir to cater for Mandore. One kilometre long, 50 m broad and 15 m deep; the lake is located in the middle of a manicured garden full of mango, papaya, pomegranate, guava and plum trees. Jackal and peacock are the prominent guests in the garden. There is an impressive red sandstone summer palace on the shores of the lake, which is now converted into a five-star property. Make a point to watch out for pesky monkeys when walking the nature trails. The area is a popular picnic spot for locals.

Such a beautiful art school! We stayed for 4 hours learning how to paint in the traditional way - VJ was very knowledgeable and patient with us, he even brought us chai and samosas! We had a fantastic time and all ended up leaving with some gorgeous art work - even if you’re not interested in painting yourself there are tons of beautiful pieces to sift through! We went for an art class for drawing and painting miniatures. Mr Vijay, the proprietor of the Umaid Heritage Art School was our teacher and guide, and over the course of 3 hours, he helped us paint miniatures from first principles. Even though we did not have any prior experience in painting or drawing, Mr Vijay's teaching style was so good that he was able to "draw" the best out of us. He is patient and enabling, and his own skill as an artist is quite unparalleled.

On a rainy day in Jodhpur would not have asked for a better activity. Mr. Vijay (also popularly known as lentil man) is an excellent teacher and he took us through a quick crash course (abt 2 hours) on miniature art and the technique involved in a process which is passed on by generations and 100’s of years old. If you have sometime and believe in promoting art do try it out. It’s a stone throw within the main clock tower market. Check out the painting that he helped me put together!

We had a great few hours here learning how to do the miniature paintings. Our teacher was very patient and helpful, and we had really interesting conversations about life and culture in India too. 1000 rupees pp. Great experience :)

Evidence suggests that Osian is a very old settlement. Some of its early names include Uvasisala, Ukesa and Upkesapur-pattana. In its early history, the village was a center for Brahmanism. It was a major stop for camel caravans during the Gupta period.[6] The town was an important center for the Pratihar dynasty. Tradition states that, after being abandoned for a time, the village was re-established by Utpaladeva (c. 900-950). Utpaladeva converted to Jainism, and turned the village into a center for the religion. However, Jainism had a presence in the village long before that. Sachiya Mata Temple is located at Osian in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Sachiya (also known as Sachaya Mata and Sachiya Mata). Easy walking distance from the fort. This statue of Rao Jodha points directly at the Fort high on the hill. The statue is mounted on a large area of Rajasthani sandstone and seems to be not of interest to tourists. While I was checking it out and taking in the view for over 30 minutes, not one other person stopped in to see it but carried on in their tuktuk to the more appealing sites. This statue is free to see and I recommend while in the area of the other tourists attractions, stop in and enjoy the scenery 😉

The Rao Jodha Ji Statue stands tall, honoring the founder of Jodhpur. Positioned on a rocky hilltop, it offers a limited yet beautiful view of the city. A serene spot, especially during sunset, providing a unique perspective of the city's beauty.

Lovely horseback statue on a hill top overlooking the majestic mehrangarh fort. The statue is atop slippery rocks so one needs to be careful. You can't park alongside the road as the road is narrow towards the jaswant thada complex. Do not attempt to take your suv near to the statue as local police doesn't take it too well. Respect the local culture You should visit the statue preferably in evening as you can enjoy the sunset. Please do not litter. Parking is available at nearby jaswant thada parking lot.

Historic city of Jodhpur was founded by Rao Jodha Rao Jodha shifted his capital from Mandore to Jodhpur in 1459 & built the Mehrangarh fort. After 554 years of its foundation, an equestrian statue of Rao Jodha was installed on 12th May 2012(554th Jodhpur Foundation Day) This statue made of ashtadhatu (blend of eight metals) is worth Rs 37 lakh. It is just next to Jaswant Thada & Rao Jodha is pointing towards Mehrangarh Fort.

History -Kaylana Lake is located 8 km west of Jodhpur in Rajasthan, India. It is an artificial lake, built by Pratap Singh in 1872. In ancient times this region had palaces and gardens made by two rulers of Jodhpur - Bhim Singh and Takhat Singh. These were destroyed to make Kaylana Lake. Present - Very scenic and calm place specially if you are a sunset lover. Perfect for calm evening near lakeside with beautiful sunset views and boating. Few camel rides are also available with some evening snacks to munch on. Welcome maintained these days. Perfect place for a photo shoot specially your pre wedding shoot as the ambience is breathtaking specially during the sunset. Must visit once.

This place is a little far from the city area and when I visited that time the lake had not enough water so you might be disappointed and also, this place does not have that much greenery and even the whole jodhpur city need some trees and gardens so many tourists can easily attract to visit. But yes this place is situated at a small height and you can also enjoy the sunset view from the small mountain area.

One of the beautiful place in Jodhpur. Got very beautiful views of the lake, sunset and the mountain range. Place is as cozy. Enjoyed the Zip line and Boating. Though lake is not managed well and there is no option to pay by card or UPI so carry cash with you. Food prices are average, quality and quantity both are good for food except the tea. They use toooo much ginger and quantity is too low of the tea so give instructions before you order.

The Phool Mahal is a beautifully decorated hall in the Mehrangarh fort, Jodhpur. The hall probably served the purpose of a pleasure dome of the Maharajas, and the female dancers used to stay here. Accordingly the room was made to look as beautiful as a magnificent flower, which earned it the name Phool mahal. The ceiling has golden filigree work, for which it is said, gold was brought from Ahmedabad, Gujarat. There are also some beautiful portraits and paintings, especially the raga mala series, and furniture from the British period to enhance the glory of the room.

Phool mahal is in Mehrangarh fort..entry ticket is 200 per person and if you want a guide than 500 more u have to pay..fort is big and beautiful and phool mahal,seesh mahal adds there beauty...there is 2 temple in the fort which I highly recommend and view from temple is amazing

Colourful, vibrant, throbbing with life... A variety of street food from the spicy mirchi vada, pyaj kachori, to the sweet makhaniya lass, mava kachori and the local delicacy ghewar. In addition there is the hustle and the bustle of a local market that supports artisans and their products. One normally goes to see the clock tower, and sort of stumbles on the market. The market stretches from the clock tower through Nai Sarak, almost upto the railway station about 2 km away from the clock tower. Colourful clothing is the highlight of this place in addition to knick knacks produced by the local artisans and an unforgettable view of Mehrangarh Fort at all times...

The largest and busiest marketplace of Jodhpur, Sardar market is named after Maharaja Sardar Singh, the king of Jodhpur responsible for building the Ghanta Ghar which lies near the market. This is the most famous shopping zone of Jodhpur and attracts customers from all parts of Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India, and the world. The marketplace is abundant with everything a shopper could dream of buying, with locals selling all sorts of products such as local fabric, clay figurines, silver jewellery, grains, spices, marble, pottery, vegetables, and many more products.

It's an old gate and old market. But you can get almost everything there it is connected to famous ghanta ghar which is famous for shopping. Anything you want is available here. Including the wonderful cafes and tourist attractions. This place has all the colors and all the variety jodhpur has to offer. If you come to jodhpur and wanna shop this is one of the places to consider.

There is clock tower which is also known as heart of jodhpur .... You must visit here if you come to jodhpur..... Especially to see old jodhpur... My experience was quite good ....
