This is a bit out of the way from other four lakes and quite a challenge bicycle ride from Gawaguchiko station, but it’s quite worth it. The bike path along the lake side is well maintained and less car traffic. There are many restaurants and cafes to take a break. Swans are very beautiful and they can be easily spotted.
First thing first, for those who has the need to go to toilet often, if you are coming here by joining open trip from Tokyo, then the first thing you can do is go to the toilet first or you will spend your time in waiting line because another participants will go too. They only have 2/3 rooms for female (it should be 2, iirc). After that, you can freely roaming around the lake. The lake, is the prettiest lake I've ever seen. It looks like a crysta navy blue. I was lucky to experience where the color of the lake and sky were same. I really recommend you to visit this first in the morning. You can find the open trip who puts this location as their first destination of the tour (I used the package tour from Trip, this is not an endorsement). If you are lucky, you can see swans here! They got one of the prettiest swans I've ever encounter. And if you are lucky again, you can see Mt.Fuji from here too! It was really a wonderful experience. *the swan cruise looks really elegant but I don't know how to hop inside. But it was unlikely to hop due to tour time limit.
Lake Yamanaka is a calm and scenic spot that’s perfect for a relaxing visit. The area is peaceful, with well-kept walking and cycling paths around the lake, and it offers a variety of outdoor activities like boating, fishing, and picnicking. If you’re lucky and the weather is clear, the view of Mount Fuji from the lake is absolutely breathtaking. But keep in mind—it’s often cloudy, and Fuji can be completely hidden. Early mornings tend to give you the best chance of a clear view. Even without seeing Fuji, the lake and surrounding nature are beautiful and worth the visit. A great place to unwind and enjoy a quieter side of the Fuji Five Lakes.
The first time I came here was for the fireworks on August 1st, 2025. I arrived around 2 PM and it was already crowded, haha. I ended up just wandering around the whole time. Mt. Fuji was covered by clouds, but it still looked beautiful🤍
It was fun feeding the birds and taking a ride around the lake. We didn’t get to see Mt. Fuji though because of the weather.
Yen200 / pax to buy food for swan. Better view of Fuji peak in the morning. Tip: check their live cam on their website to make sure the view is clear before coming.
Fuji Safari Park is very fun and interesting. You drive past the animals and get to see them up close. The large area is incredible, and you also have a view of Mount Fuji.
Beautiful place for families and kids. You see Mount Fuji clearly. Road side parkings are available.

Activities: ⇧ For visitors who wish to explore the expansive grounds more conveniently, bicycle rentals are available at the park. ⇧ Parents and children can enjoy a place called "Water Playground Square". Enjoying Diamond Fuji from Hana no Miyako Park during late November to mid-January is possible when the sun sets on the top of Mt. Fuji. In winter, the entire area is covered in snow and snow flakes stick to branches, making them look like flowers. The ideal time to visit is typically late April to mid-May.
Overall a good camping with some indoor places for kids to play on case of rain for example. The camping spots are okay. The one we got was wide but only made of stones which is not ideal to lay a tent comfortably, and not good to put tent pegs in. Very clean bathrooms and showers.
Almost didn’t pay the entrance ticket to go in but we were glad we did. We didn’t spend long there. We went off season but the flowers were still blooming and capture many nice shots. It wasn’t crowded when we were there so we could sit down and chill.
Summer time is too hot to visit, but there are ice cream and drinks available to purchase. Rent a peddle car is a nice way to see the park. The view of Mount Fuji from the park is beautiful.
Should be check weather before go there. End of Sun Flower Season. If clear day can see Huge scenery of Mt.Fuji. Should be buy a ticket to go inside park 400¥.
A beautiful garden and conservatory. Lovely walks or cycle rides around the grounds. A view of Mount Fuji enhanced by colourful seasonally adjusted flower beds. A cafe. A tranquil place.
Lovely park near Mount Fuji. You can really feel the owner’s dedication—tidy paths, clean facilities, thoughtful signage, and well-kept gardens that frame beautiful Fuji views.

Panorama-dai has free but limited parking, and there's even a toilet nearby, super convenient. The view from up there is really nice. You can see Lake Yamanaka, all the little houses below, and on a clear day, Mt Fuji in the background. When I went it was cloudy, so I didn’t see much of Fuji, but the view was still worth it. The whole place looks like a miniature model from above, pretty cool. Just a heads-up though: there are wild blueberries or some kind of berries on the ground, and if you’re not careful, they’ll stain your car’s white carpet or your clothes, especially if your kid walks over them and you carry them after. Happened to me lol.
The view is quite nice but if you’re going for sunset it’s not a spot for winter since the sun sets behind mountains and it won’t look pretty unless the clouds turn red. This is definitely an autumn and spring location. The parking is also very limited and technically you cannot park on the side of the road which people still do so drive slow and avoid peek times. I think it looked nice during the day as well so go then if you don’t want to do U turns back to back finding a spot to park.
The viewing spot is about a 45-minute drive from the Kawaguchiko area. Unfortunately, we visited on a cloudy day on 22 August, so the famous view was hidden. The location is only accessible by car, and parking is quite limited, though we were lucky to find a spot upon arrival. Basic facilities such as toilets are available, which makes the visit more convenient.
Yamanakako (山中湖) is a picturesque town located on the shores of Lake Yamanaka, one of the Fuji Five Lakes (Fujigoko) in the Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. It’s a fantastic spot for those looking to enjoy nature, outdoor activities, and stunning views of Mount Fuji. Whether you’re visiting for a day trip or a longer stay, there’s plenty to do and see in Yamanakako, especially if you’re into peaceful lakeside retreats, hiking, or exploring the Japanese countryside. Yamanakako is known for its serene atmosphere and close proximity to Mount Fuji. It’s the second-largest of the five lakes that surround the iconic mountain, and its location offers excellent views of Mount Fuji, especially when the weather is clear. It’s a quieter alternative to some of the more tourist-heavy areas around Mount Fuji, like Fujikawaguchiko, making it perfect for those who want to escape the crowds while still being close to the natural beauty of the region. Things to Do in Yamanakako 1. Lake Yamanaka (Yamanakako): • Lake Yamanaka itself is the main attraction. It offers a variety of outdoor activities such as boating, fishing, and cycling around the 14-kilometer shoreline. Renting a boat or a pedal boat on the lake is a fun way to enjoy the views and the peaceful waters. If you’re into fishing, there are many spots around the lake where you can try catching bass or trout. • The lake’s promenade is also perfect for a leisurely walk or jog. In the warmer months, the area is great for picnics, and you’ll often see people relaxing and taking in the stunning views of Mount Fuji. 2. Mount Fuji Views: • From various points around Yamanakako, you get clear, unobstructed views of Mount Fuji. The lake’s shoreline provides some of the best spots to snap photos of the iconic peak. The views are especially beautiful at sunrise or sunset, when the lighting creates a breathtaking reflection on the lake’s surface. • If you’re an early riser, you may even get the chance to see the famous “Diamond Fuji”, a phenomenon where the sun aligns perfectly with the peak of Mount Fuji, creating a diamond-like effect at sunrise. 3. Fujisan Juku no Mori: • A forested park near Yamanakako, Fujisan Juku no Mori offers a chance to hike, enjoy nature trails, and explore forests with scenic views of Mount Fuji. There’s also a Fujisan Juku no Mori Museum that provides information about the history of the area, Mount Fuji, and the ancient Fujisan pilgrimage routes. 4. Yamanakako Hananomiyako Park: • If you’re visiting in the spring or summer, Yamanakako Hananomiyako Park (Flower Park) is a beautiful destination. The park is famous for its seasonal flowers, including lavender fields, sunflowers, and cherry blossoms (in spring). It’s a great spot for a relaxing stroll and offers great photo opportunities. • The park has a flower museum and other facilities, making it a perfect spot for families or anyone who loves nature and flowers. 5. Oshino Hakkai: • Located near Yamanakako, Oshino Hakkai is a small village that’s famous for its eight crystal-clear springs that come from the melted snow of Mount Fuji. It’s an idyllic, traditional setting with preserved old buildings, beautiful ponds, and the stunning sight of Mount Fuji in the background. It’s a peaceful place to wander and enjoy the old-world charm of rural Japan. 6. Yamanakako Onsen: • If you’re looking to relax and unwind, Yamanakako offers a number of onsen (hot springs) where you can soak in warm, therapeutic waters with views of Mount Fuji. Some of the onsens even have outdoor baths (rotenburo) that let you enjoy the natural beauty of the area while you relax. • The area’s onsen are generally less crowded than those in more famous hot spring towns, offering a quieter and more peaceful experience. 7. Yamanakako Village History and Culture: • You can also visit local cultural spots like Yamanakako Art Museum and local shrines to learn more about the history and culture of the area. The town has a calm, rural vibe and is home to local crafts, small shops, and eateries serving regional delicacies.
When the weather is clear, it’s an amazing view deck and a good half-way rest place along the mountain road with modern design. The only issue is the parking area is too limited compare to the among of visitors to this place.
Limited parking spots. I recommend driving past this panoramic point until you reach a point where you can park on the side of the road. Better views, no people.
This spot is a must-visit if you're driving. Visited this observation spot on 28-Mar-2024 and was disappointed cause we can't see anything due to poor weather. We were lucky to revisit this place again on the next day when the weather turned good. The view was magnificent but the annoying part was the crowd of tourists (we included 😂). Also remember to hike up the small hill for better view (see video) There's no facilities nearby besides a toilet.
Fantastic views of Mt Fuji and Yamanakako. Parking is extremely limited though, I was extremely lucky to arrive and have someone leave. Might be best to plan for a weekday if you can.

An absolutely breathtaking view! Walk along the lake and enjoy the weather and the beautiful view of Mount Fuji. We went in January, it was a bit cold, we had to bundle up but the fresh air was worth it.
The best view for mt Fuji around the lake. Free carpark next to the park. Don’t miss the paths to lakeside and try your luck capturing Sakasa Fuji (Fuji mirrored by the lake surface).
We spent our early Saturday at Nagaike Water Park and had an absolute blast! It’s the perfect spot for a fun day out with the family. The splash areas were clean, well-maintained, and just the right size for kids to enjoy safely. There was plenty of shade and grassy areas to set up a picnic, and the whole place had a relaxed, family-friendly vibe. The water was refreshing, and the park layout made it easy to keep an eye on the little ones while still enjoying the scenery. We’ll definitely be back this spot is a gem for warm-weather weekends!
If is superb location for sunset and flower too. It is located just slightly pass Nagaike-iriguchi. The venue was awesome too compare to the usual park that everyone else goes. Slight feedback for those traveling by bus, Kindly travel back before 5pm because when the sun goes down transportation is not as easy at night unless you are fit to travel by foot
Nagaike Water Park near Lake Yamanaka was one of the best Fuji spots of our trip. Calm place, free parking and a crazy clear view of Mount Fuji right in front of you, with the reflection on the lake when the weather is good. We went early in the morning and it was super quiet, just a few people walking, taking photos and enjoying the fresh air. If you’re around Yamanakako, this is the perfect stop to breathe, shoot some photos and just sit down facing Fuji for a while.
A great spot to take photos or videos of Mount Fuji. There are small benches with roof so you can rest and enjoy the breathtaking view. I stumbled upon the area while cycling around Yamanaka lake.
Best view to see mount Fuji at Yamanakako. Very quite, a lot of parking space. There’s also have gazebo to enjoy your food. Big bus can’t park here. Only small car and microbus can park here
One of the best views of Mt. Fuji, in a crisp winter morning the view is breathtaking. I am so thankful for the experience.

When I visited, part of the lake was still frozen, creating a stunning contrast between the lake and Mount Fuji. This area is not crowded, allowing you to fully enjoy the beauty of Fuji. However, I would recommend it more for those who drive or rent a car, as getting here by bus might be a bit inconvenient.
Another gem and a good spot to take photos of Mount Fuji. Less crowd since it is quite far from the usual tourist attraction. I came here for the sunset and there were professional photographers at this spot. It is a park so they were playgrounds and public restrooms and vending machines. There are also ample amount of paid parking space that cost around 300yen and has to be paid by cash. There are boardwalk around the lake where you can stroll around take photos of Mount Fuji.
Best place to snap Fujisan when the weather is good, and bright. We went here after researching over TikTok for the best views. While some Tiktokers gatekeep this location, we are here to share this awesome stopover. We came here by car, and it was an open space with playground for kids, toilets, open park, and walking paths for leisure. Be sure to walk along the wooden walkways for best views of Mt Fuji.
Last two years I came to Yamanashi I stayed around Kawaguchiko lake but this time (mid of October 2024) I decided to stay close to Yamanakako lake because I found several nice places and nice reviews about those places where this communication plaza was one of them. Yamanakako is more peaceful compared to Kawaguchiko. The communication plaza is huge. Many people came here to run in the morning. Me and my family just went there for the view. We took lots of photos cause every places are beautiful. It’s a little sad we could not enjoy Fujisan view cause he’s hiding under the big clouds that day.
This place was a hidden jem. We came in the afternoon and it was nice and quiet for a walk. We had full view of Fuji and could just relax and enjoy the moment
Sweet love shower 2023 Beautiful space near Yamanakako Lake with mount Fuji view Access by bus and car 🚘 ———— I wanted to share my excitement about the upcoming summer music festival. The thought of dancing under the open sky to our favorite tunes is truly exhilarating. I can't wait to create unforgettable memories, surrounded by the vibrant energy of the crowd and the enchanting melodies that will fill the air. See you next time
A perfect view of Mt Fuji !! It was a beautiful day indeed. We could see Fuji san and enjoy the view. It wasn't too crowded. There is a small park for kids too. Highly recommended!!
Huge park lands area for all to enjoy. Kids playground, concert area, decked walking path with views of Fuji and toilet facilities. Also has a car park. Looked like in warmer months there is a fee for parking but it was free when we were here. Fuji is in full view here. We came for that and wasn't disappointed at all. Gets cold though with the breeze!

A breath taking Shrine. We started from the parking lot and climbed endless stairs, followed by another 15 minutes rough hike. It took us at least 45 minutes to the shrine. The hike was exhausting but the view was absolutely worth the pains.
We weren’t planning to visit this place, we had some spare time and went there without much research. There were a lot of stairs at the beginning. After the shrine, there is a road that leads you to a summit where you can see Mt Fuji, but the road is very hard to walk, it’s narrow and it was very muddy that day which made it dangerous. It took sus 1 and a half hours to get to the summit and a few mins less to go back down. I would recommend to wear appropriate shoes.
Was a really nice experience except you need to know it will take you 1:30 hours to get to the top. A lot of climbing and gets more tricky towards the top. Got to the top and mount Fuji was covered so didn’t really get any good photos from it. Close to the top there is a nice shrine you can rest at.
Nice adventure very close to lake Yamanakako (about 5 minutes by car - more difficult to reach if you don't have a car). The adventure starts with a simple torii door. Behind it, you can see what is probably the longest stairway you've ever seen (that was the case for me). In total, 403 steps. The first 300 are in a straight line, when you start the first step you can't even see the last ones - they are too far. After the stairs, keep walking around 15 minutes and you will reach the shrine itself. It a very small shrine, but next to it is a massive stone, cut in two parts. To bring good fortune to yourself, you have to walk three times inside the small space that's between the two parts of the rock. I didn't know that first so I walked only once. I hope I won't get cursed. If I'm cursed, maybe this was my last review posted on Google Maps. So goodbye. Going back from the shrine to the torii is about 15 minutes if you run in the stairs (which is doable).
Love the ambience of the shrine and remember to go round the shrine for 3 times! Didn't climb the stairs.. instead went via the Onsen Hotel side.
Second time doing this trail, short but pretty steep and fun some paths can be very slippery. Otherwise definitely worth it.
Stopped by on our hike to the peak of Ishiwariyama.
excellent place to feel the harmony and peace of a Japanese shrine. Get ready to climb 400 steps.

It's a beautiful shrine surrounded by plenty of trees and its two sections are connected over a bridge spanning the main road. Someone collected the fallen leaves into a heart and there's a post on to put your phone on top to take a good picture of yourself infront of the main building. You can really feel the care that is put into this shrine.
A nice hidden shrine on the way to Yamanakako. The walk bridge over the main road caught my attention. Quite a nice surprise.
It was beautiful during autumn. Located near the Yamanaka lake. A very good view featuring momiji and ginkgo leaves. The leaves also scattered around below, makes it a good spot for taking dramatic picture.
There are many sights around lake Yamanakako. This is one of them. There is another building to the left after you cross a bridge. There are mobile shrines inside which are used for a festival in September. At this shrine one prays for good childbirth.
I havE visited Yamanaka lake alot, but I did not kow this wonderful place was here, very close by I always pass by
Visiting this shrine on a rainy day as an enchanting experience. I was happy to receive a beautiful goshuin, too.
Beautiful, peaceful, and easily accessible. What a wonderful place to go sit down and breathe in nature. A quick walk from lake Yamanaka and a must see. There are also little paths through the forests around the shrines if you'd like to have a little forest wander. Remember to respect Japanese customs and clean up after yourself. Enjoy the walk!
The Yamanaka Sengen Shrine and Suwa Shrines are two intertwined shrines - one first established in 104, the other first built in 931. The Suwa Shrine was built to honour the god of agriculture - and to quiet a spreading epidemic. When bits were added in the 1500s and 1600s, the goddess of mothers and children was said to help make childbirth easier and safer if sacred waters were used The nearby Sengen Shrine was built to honour three gods in 931 - and was updated in the Edo era but destroyed by fire just after World War 1, so it was rebuilt in the 1920s and refurbished 50 years ago. To be honest, I have no idea of the difference between Suwa and Sengen ... and the brochures I picked up don't seem to help. Perhaps it's two variants of Shinto like Sunni/Shia, or Catholic/Protestants, or Pureland/Zen. Or perhaps I am completely wrong! The monk who was operating the info stand / Gift shop was friendly and seemed to want to be informative - but I had no Japanese, and his English was quite basic. It didn't matter - the shrines were peaceful and calming, and the architecture and statuary was quite charming. Certainly well worth an hour or two.

Fun place to visit if your in the area. Good translation at one of the museums but none at the other.
This is a great museum , but you can not take pictures All the area is surrounded by nature , next to Mishima Museum you can get with the same ticket to another museum If you keep walking there's a very beautiful place where you can see how the comunity work , and you can go inside

(Translated by Google) It was a very quiet place. Here, you'll find a collection of his manuscripts. His elegant handwriting reveals a poetic spirit, making it difficult to imagine his final death. Mount Fuji in the rain, Lake Yamanaka, exudes a vast, distant, and hazy beauty, much like the writer's life itself, radiant in its stillness. It was a truly worthwhile trip. Not a very big museum, but interesting with collections of Santa Claus all over the world. If you are a fan of Christmas, this is definitely a place you should not miss. The ticket price can get 100 yen off if the homepage of the museum is shown at the counter. I like the music played inside, but unfortunately it was not vendible in the Christmas shop. I am lucky enough to see some deers in the wood around the museum. Perfect!
It's raining in the Yamanakaku. This is the best place to go on this rainy day. The outside is cold and damp, and the museum is warm, creating a warm Christmas atmosphere.
The museum displays Christmas art from Europe and the United States from the 1980s and 1990s, which is now rarely seen on the market. Traveling in yamanakako, I feel it is worthwhile to visit the Santa museum.
Perhaps the best place to experience the Christmas atmosphere is at the foot of Mount Fuji. A few weeks ago, I visited this place for Christmas. Many visitors were very happy because of the strong Christmas atmosphere. I did not expect to have a happy Christmas in other places outside the United States and Europe.
Let down was closed though google site said that it was opened.
A friend from Japan brought me here last month. It is said to be the oldest and most famous art museum in yamanaka lake. It is also the only christmas-themed museum in Japan. Many of the pieces in the museum come from Europe in the last century (my native Germany) and are handmade, a rarity these days.
The Christmas museum is on the hillside above the red leaf park. In the most beautiful season, come to the most beautiful place and continue to visit the museum after enjoying the red leaves, because it will be Christmas in a little more than a month. It is a perfect journey. The Christmas museum is as well worth visiting as the red leaf park.
Also known as Santa Claus Village. Took a bus there and was quite disappointed to find out that it quite a small museum with nothing much to see. Whole place filled with Santa Claus figurines and quite scary with no one around. Definitely not worth the visit as it quite inaccessible to travel to.

Hiking the trail Mt Ishiwari - Mt Ohira - Mt Nagaike on a drizzling day. No view of Fuji. But still great hike with nice ambience of the shrine and the forest trail. Some steep wooden steps and muddy steep terrain due to the rain. Took 6 hrs to return back to the hotel.
Good for easy hike. On the way to the top, you can see large rocks. It is said that if you go around the rock three times, your wish will come true. And best of all, you can see Mt. Fuji at the top.It is an easy yet gorgeous hike. However, there are not enough parking spaces, so it may be better to come early or have a driver who does not climb.
(Translated by Google) Use the parking lot at the Ishiwariyama trailhead. It was full at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning, and luckily someone was kind enough to give it to me. However, some people who visit Ishiwari Shrine leave in a short amount of time, so if you wait patiently, there is a chance that a space will become available. There were some people parked on the road, so I guess it's a tacit agreement unless it's obstructing the road or clearly violating etiquette. First off, it's a ski jump! It makes you think, this is a truly divine stairway to the sky, and at the same time, you are horrified by its heart-breaking length. After clearing about 400 steps and walking a short distance, you will reach Ishiwari Shrine and the summit of Mt. Ishiwari. Unfortunately, the head of Mt. Fuji was covered in clouds at the summit, but if the weather is clear, the view is sure to be spectacular. However, there were so many insects at this time of year that it was difficult to take a leisurely look at them, and they soon disappeared. It would be lonely to see Mt. Ishiwari alone, so most people walked all the way.
(Translated by Google) We arrived at the Ishiwari Shrine parking lot before 8:00 on April 13th, passed through the red torii gate, climbed the 403 steps that continued forever, and followed the mountain path from Ishiwari Shrine, reaching the summit of Mt. Ishiwari in less than an hour. When I was driving on the expressway in the morning, I was looking at Mt. Fuji without a single cloud, so I climbed up looking forward to the wonderful view, but clouds were forming more and more on the way up the mountain, and by the time I reached the top, I was in the clouds. It was completely hidden and I couldn't see the spectacular view. The summit was narrower than I expected, but there were routes that allowed you to reach the summit from various directions, so I hope to see Mt. Fuji without a single cloud next time, and I would like to take revenge. Well, I was pretty tired from the stairs at the beginning. However, from the shrine it is a full-fledged mountain climb. Therefore, if you come to the top of the mountain, It is necessary to make some preparations I think there is. From the summit, Mt. Fuji is right in front of you. It looks huge😆 The parking lot is crowded, so in the afternoon It might be a good idea to climb up from there! If you are in good shape, it will take 2 hours round trip to the summit. (Translated by Google) We started the climb from Ishiwari Shrine parking lot. As I had heard, the stairs were extremely long and difficult for my less-active body. There are benches at Ishiwari Shrine where you can take a rest and then pass between the rocks to pray. There are no particularly dangerous areas on the way to the peak, so even beginners can feel safe. The peak is not very wide and there is a slope, so there are limited places to rest, but the view is spectacular so it's worth taking your time. When my friend jokingly shouted "Yahoo!" on the side of the mountain that is not Mt. Fuji, we got a faint yamabiko in return. I recommend yamabiko.

Lovely park, especially in winter with the evening illuminations! We spent almost two hours there as there was so much to see. Check their website to find out the days they have fireworks! There’s also a heated rest area. The entrance fee is very cheap.
We had the unfortunate timing to have cloudy weather and couldn't see mount Fuji, however the flowers and little area are amazing. It's a very nice and easy walk around the gardens. And here are bikes you can rent to easily get here or ride the bus.
We visited in February during the winter. The flower dome was a great visit , 300 yen to park , free admission during this time of year. There is a little café inside as well with great Yuzu tea
A wonderful place to spend an afternoon strolling around and enjoying the beautiful flowers. Well laid out and free to enter. The playground was fun for the kids and adults alike
Nice little park. A lot of great flowers and photo spot. Had to pay 500yen to get in but I think it was worth it if you’re a photographer. Make sure to come when Mt Fuji is clear.
Beautiful flower park. Very peaceful and tranquility
