I have loved Vizcaya since I was a little girl, I had not been in 25 years and it did not disappoint. The home is exactly as remembered. The Gardens are magical. I did not realize that James Deering was the brother of Charles Deering another estate in Miami I recommend visiting. This home is truly beautiful with Gardens that make it extra special, the estate is inspired by Italian renaissance villas architecture the home is awing, breathtaking, and inspired. It’s got a lot of exhibition space. The permanent collections upstairs are relatively small, and the rotating exhibits throughout the building are a larger percentage of the overall space.

Bring your student ID for free/discounted entry! This was such a lovely surprise. We were in the area and decided to stop in and realized belatedly that we should’ve added it to our itinerary. Their hours of operation is rather limited so we couldn’t view the entire museum but the little that we saw was well worth it. You could easily spend the whole day here and it wouldn’t be enough. I really enjoyed it and the staff were so knowledgeable and kind. They had some interactive activities that we were struggling with, and they were very helpful. Definitely a must if you’re in the area! (Sort of unrelated but I got chased by an unhoused/homeless person on my way there 😂).

I was able to score free tickets through the library and took my mom to History Miami. She isn’t usually a fan of museums but she really enjoyed this one. I also found it very interesting. It has great pictures and artifacts about Miami and its development. As a born and raised Miami girl I really enjoyed seeing the pictures of Miami throughout the years throughout the museum. The museum is comprised of two buildings with a lot of stairs in both. They do have elevators too. But worth noting for people with mobility issues. One building houses the history of Miami that’s displayed chronologically. The other building houses exhibits and special artifacts. The exhibit we got to see was one on the evolution of swimwear. It was fascinating if you’re into fashion. All in all, this is a great activity to do on a rainy day or a slower day. We took about 2 hours to finish the whole museum.

I came for the Waves of Style exhibition opening and it was great. They had places where you can snap photos with Waves of Style props and individuals dressed in the theme. In the lobby area, there was also a DJ and an open bar. The drinks were traditional open bar drinks but they were good. I toured the museum, including the Waves of Style exhibition, and I loved it. It was interesting to see history of swimwear through the Miami’s perspective. It was also neat to see what Miami looks like through the artist’s perspective. I went to the Frost Museum with my friend, and it was a wonderful visit! The museum is well-maintained, large enough to explore but still a manageable size. Definitely recommended for families with kids because it’s very interactive and really can teach and entertain kids at the same time. There are plenty of installations for people to explore. For example, in the Feathers to the Stars gallery, which introduces everything that can fly (dinosaurs, air planes, spacecrafts, …), you can make your paper airplane and test it using their setup to see how it flies or spins in the air. Paper and instruction are provided. Another one I like is a video game that shows how a spacecraft works. You play as the pilot and try to land on the moon. It’s an easy game but it tells you how many steps it takes for a spacecraft to travel to the moon and return. We made the mistake of going too late. I definitely recommend going at 10:00am and taking your time. The museum is interactive, with a live working coral lab to a fossil lab and the scientist are more than happy to answer questions. The following level is more aquarium, the planetarium, I missed one exhibit but it is the baptist health (Ill be returning to take my time) and at the moment currently they have a Leonardo DaVinci exhibit. I cant recommend this place enough, it is stunning and well done. I dont live in miami but grew up there my parents still live there so I look forward to going back

It’s so relaxing just watching the fish, sharks and string rays swim by. The other animals such as the birds, jellyfishes and seahorses were also amazing to see. I do think that some of the things should be improved, such as the wet lab and the planetarium shows. They’re not really entertaining for children. The interactive activity where you see the shark’s point of view was also broken during my visit. This time around, the Smurf’s characters were present promoting their new movie. At first, I did not see the correlation between the Smurf and physics lesson provided but the children enjoyed the dance party afterwards. Although, I must say that the staff providing the physics lesson was very knowledgeable and entertaining. They also provided Smurfs coloring pages, puzzles, crayons and temporary tattoos for the children to enjoy. As for the food, it is a bit overpriced but it was quite decent. I would definitely eat there again. I will also continue to come back to this museum as it’s fun and they keep changing some of the exhibits so there is always something new to see.

I came to the children’s museum and I thought it was a great place for children. I absolutely love how the children can pretend to be firefighters, doctor, veterinarian and even grocery shop. I love seeing local partners inside the museum such as Publix, Jackson Health System, Baptist and Carnival. The Peanuts exhibit was very reminiscing from our childhood. I also absolutely enjoyed the Peanuts show where they read some books in a very animated way. They kept the children’s attention throughout the whole show. Really cool collection! The front desk employee was super helpful and thorough.. There were three different collections when we visited. They seemed rather random in relation to each other but all were really interesting and we definitely enjoyed the experience. One of my favorite pieces was the phallic sculpture that was in A Clockwork Orange film!
The only off putting thing was that there was a private security room upstairs in the midst of the collections. An employee in the room was blasting music extremely loud and also singing along with it super loud and crazy. It was pretty strange and did interfere with the atmosphere of enjoying the collections.
The price of admission is $20/person, which I feel is a little steep for the type of collections they had. But I do understand that museums are not huge money makers and I'm sure they are even more challenged with pandemic so we were fine to pay that much.
It's also pretty cool that you're allowed to take photos in the museum with the art :)

While an interesting concept and some interesting pieces, the museum itself seemed poorly maintained.. We often encountered very warm rooms or hallways that should have led to other exhibits with no door handle that lead to them. My visit to the Rubell Museum has left me deeply troubled and wounded by the “art” that was on display. I attended a wedding at the museum this past weekend, and to say I was shocked and appalled is an understatement. Not all, but several of the exhibits contained imagery that is profoundly inappropriate for minors and emotionally distressing for humanity at large.
As a woman of faith, I was especially disturbed by works featuring inverted crosses, dark spiritual symbolism, and depictions suggesting the harm or consumption of babies — visuals that clearly carry evil undertones. Other installations contained highly explicit material portraying acts that, in my opinion, cross far beyond artistic freedom and into moral corruption.
I consider myself very open-minded toward art, diverse worldviews, and even controversial subjects. Yet there is a clear line between creativity and depravity, between nudity and vulgarity, between thoughtful expression and a deliberate attempt to shock and desensitize. What I witnessed inside this museum was not art intended to elevate or inspire — it was art that sought to wound, provoke, and desensitize the soul.
It came as a tremendous shock to learn that the museum admits children for free under the age of seven. I cannot understand how anyone could consider this environment appropriate for young, impressionable minds.
At one point, I stood in the middle of the museum and wept as I saw a small child— perhaps seven or eight years old (without parental supervision) — standing alone before a graphic painting that no child should ever have to see. How can this be permitted in a public space that welcomes families, when similar imagery would be restricted in a film or television program as ‘rated R’?
I wept at what I saw. My heart shattered. To see our children exposed to this filth in the name of “art”. This is not art. This is an agenda. This is the indoctrination and desensitization of our children and the populace at large.
This is not artistic freedom; this is a reflection of a culture losing its moral compass. I pray that more people awaken, stand firm in truth, and protect what is sacred — faith, purity, and light — in a world that seems increasingly dark

We stumbled upon the Museum of Graffiti in Wynwood by chance and decided to visit. Admission is US$16 for adults.
The museum offers a great introduction to graffiti history, styles, and techniques. Each artist has their own dedicated space, which makes exploring the exhibits especially engaging. In a way, it’s the indoor experience of the Wynwood Walls, which are displayed outdoors. I came here with a friend for an event featuring a new artist. It was after regular hours and free as long as you RSVP'd. The event was stellar. Obviously, we were able to see the new exhibit which was displayed throughout the museum. There was also free beer being given out for samples, as well as free Levi jackets with screen printing from the museum. Outside was also a vibe where they were showcasing a couple things. All in all, I really enjoyed this museum. Definitely a good addition to any trip down to Wynwood.

If you are into Art Deco and who isn't in Miami, then this is definitely a place that you would enjoy. It takes anywhere from 1-2 hours to view, depending on your interests.
The Wolfsonian building is located in the middle of South Beach and is not easily noticed when you are driving by it but when you enter, you see how large it actually is. There are 7 floors. The elevator takes you to each floor. The top floor is currently under construction to add insulation. The 3rd floor is the library and it was closed the day we went. You need an appointment to see it, which we didnt know. The first floor has the lovely gift shop and the coffee bar.
Admission is free to all Florida residents. You are free to do your own self guided tour.
Art lovers and artists have been very positive about the unique collection of the art deco and other collectibles from the early 1900s to the 1940s, including exhibits on the Industrial Revolution, the Great Depression, and World War I. It also says a lot about Wolfsonian that the staff are friendly and helpful in pointing out the well-curated exhibits, and the charming gift shop and cafe.
We were very impressed with the art collections and the way they were presented. This is a worthwhile museum to visit.

Recently visited the Haitian Heritage Museum in Miami, Florida, it is a beautiful museum with wonderful displays of art and expressions of the Haitian and Caribbean culture. Majority of the art on display were made by Haitian artists, while displaying their works in their own unique style. The art is of course the main attraction but the key piece was our guide and curator, Eveline, she was very friendly and very passionate about the pieces and very knowledgeable. I was supposed to write this review over a year ago now, but better late than never!! I thought about this museum a lot and it is because of Eveline's hard work and energy that I remembered to write this review. Eveline was absolutely fantastic. She was knowledgeable, warm, open to conversation and curiosity, and most importantly: passionate. Her love for her work radiated throughout her speech and information. She even ran out to give us an umbrella we forgot inside the museum! So, she really was just all-around wonderful. I learned a lot as a Haitian-American myself and I would love to go back as she did an astounding job paired with the artworks being undeniably beautiful, while also inciting storytelling. I didn’t know much about Haiti, beside the generic stuff they teach you about the revolution. This exhibit was very well done. Serge was a very good tour guide. He knew all his information and delivered it in a very candid way. The exhibit is $10 and so worth it. Wow, this little museum blew me away.
CBS4 recently interviewed a member of the 2506 Brigade and after viewing the segment I knew I had to visit.
It is free and you can plan to spend 1-2 hours there. I parked in the lot next to the museum which apparently is not theirs but the docent gave me a parking pass, otherwise there is street parking.
The building was purchased by one of the brigade members in the 80's when the property foreclosed.
They will be closing in December 2023 for a major renovation and upgrade.
Currently there are only 2 rooms to the museum, a large library area as you enter and the room that houses all the artifacts. There are walls of pictures, in the center those who paid the ultimate sacrifice during the conflict and on the side walls, those who have passed since.
The docent, Julio, as well as another employee spent a lot of time with me individually telling me about the museum, some of the veterans as well as the chronology of the conflict. I learned more during my visit than I had in school.
There were 2 of the veterans at the museum during my visit.

We were visiting Miami and happened to stumble on the Bay of Pigs Museum while visiting Little Havana and we were so happy we did. This museum was curated by veterans of the Brigade 2506 and are still staffed by the men and the wives of the men that served. What makes this museum extra special is hearing first hand accounts from these men and their experiences leading up to and the aftermath of the invasion. The memorabilia and artifacts from this somewhat forgotten historical event in the late stage of Dwight D. Eisenhower’s service as President and the early days of John F. Kennedy in the early 1960’s are truly remarkable, especially given the historical context and personalized backstory from the volunteers that served. The volunteers at the museum are so knowledgeable, proud and humble and you can see and feel how passionate they are to share their stories to every visitor of their museum.
I highly recommend everyone go and visit this museum. Huge thank you to Humberto Díaz Arguelles, the President of the Miami Bay of Pigs Museum, and Humberto Lopez, the Museum Administrative Director. It was truly a memorable experience.

This is the best art venue I've been to in a long time!
The collection is expansive and well curated. The works are well chosen and well presented. The selection is expansive in both style and range of artists. There are many artists who have not been shown in the US and it was a delight to see their work for the first time. It was also a delight to see little known, or older, works by artists who are well known in the US. The curators know how to group the pieces in ways that make historic and thematic sense.
The exhibition space is absolutely beautiful and it was great to be able to get close enough to the work to really SEE it. Nothing is roped off. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly.

There’s plenty of fun illusion walls to take photos and they even have instructions on the wall on how to take the best angle of each picture so that the illusion works perfectly.
We went as soon as they opened and there was only one more family there which was great because it gave us more time to take photos and videos without rushing. As the time went by more and more people came and it felt a tiny bit rushed to get through the last photos, so we do recommend going as soon as they open during the weekend or probably during the week.
There’s two floors full of fun walls. We brought our own tripod but if you don’t want to carry yours around they have them available for an extra fee and they also have professional photographers who can take your photos and even edit some of them.

I’d recommend everyone who loves Miami, its people, and its history to come and visit the Black Precinct. We found this museum on TripAdvisor yesterday. We arrived at the museum and were told to book the tour online which we did right at the station with no issues. There's a discount for military, seniors, and students but even without the discount the tour is pretty affordable (IMO). Right after we booked and paid for the tour, Ret.
