Last here 10+ years ago. So glad we were able to stop for lunch on our way through Macon! We had the Grouper Finger basket with broccoli, the Shrimp & Lobster Bisque, and a salad. One of the best designed and decorated restaurants in downtown Macon! The outside seating was very charming, as well. We are already talking about the next time we're able to eat there! Found this place on the way for a weekend trip to Savannah. After driving looking a little we settled on this place from Yelp reviews. Even though landlocked, wife had better seafood than some of the places we at at in Savannah. She said the shrimp and lobster bisque ranked up there as her all time favorite. Great historic location, easily accessible to I-16. Located in a great area for food, it was a nice stop with great service (thanks Stephanie) and atmosphere. Crowd was steady so they must be consistent. If we were local this would be a regular spot for sure.

The food had good flavor, but most things were fried light, so some pieces of food were just right and the other was slightly under cooked. The inside of the restaurant was dark (so was the kitchen, missing lights or sections with not enough lighting, kind of scary) the lighting was strange for my eyes, I felt like I was eating with a bunch of desk lamps working to light up the room. I get the feeling it's one of those places that's always been around and hasn't seen a need to update anything. Which, isn't bad but it does make the atmosphere look a little generic, the menu bland.
That said, the service was great. Friendly and hospitable.
My biggest issue was with the fried food. Which was everything. The batter isn't seasoned, so everything you order is one step away from tasting like everything else. This is especially true for the battered fries. Don't do it. The batter to fry ratio is about 1:1 and you have to chew through bland, fried batter just to barely taste the potato.
But the hushpuppies are great, the slaw is good and the in-house made Key Lime Pie is delicious. So get that!
And if you get dessert, you will: it's the only thing on the menu.

It was ok. Worth trying once. Oysters were fresh but there were no interesting vinegar options if you don’t want horseradish and ketchup. The specials menu had no prices and the bartender said, “tell me what you want and I’ll tell you what it cost.” Crab soup was fine but there were no oyster crackers. I ordered the grouper blackened. It was fine but was like a meal you would get in a diner. How's about a "Let's Eat" Review for Brunch? Today we decided to go to Parish on Cherry Street.
We got there shortly after 11 and the place was pretty empty, which surprised me being a holiday weekend.
I ordered the Bottomless Mimosas (because I was raised right 😂🤣) and let me say, whatever Orange Juice they're using, it is tasty and was impressive!
Had to try the Macon Bacon as an appetizer. It definitely is a MUST TRY. It's got this whole sweet smoked thing happening. They use the thick cut too, a personal fav of mine.
We tried the Eggs Benedict. While the taste was good, the eggs weren't poached, they were more like medium boiled and that was a disappointment.
I also got the Fried Chicken Biscuit. Later found out that they have someone come in every weekend to make the biscuits from scratch and it's evident. They were so good! The fried chicken was your basic breaded white meat and it came with Pimento Cheese. That was it. Pretty basic. I think a Fried Green Tomato on it would have made this a super star.
Summing it up...
The brunch was good, I don't know if I'd run back there for brunch but I will DEFINITELY be back for their craft cocktails and appetizers.
Breaking It Down...
I was disappointed that they have a 3% surcharge for using a credit card. Honestly, I found it kind of lame. Credit card fees are the price every business owner faces. Build it into the cost. I found it to be unnecessary and at the end, it was less than $2 but it was the principle. Who carries cash anymore? 🤷🏻♂️
All in all, we paid $63 for two people for Brunch and while it wasn't bad, I feel like they're going to need to make some modifications to their brunch but I am excited to try them out again for dinner.

A bit disappointed with Parish on Cherry. The food was average or below at best. I'm not a discriminating eater, but everthing seemed over salted. My wife stated that her Red Beans & Rice was tasteless. She didn't even finish her small cup. I had the Po Boy fried oyster sandwich. It was pretty good. The best item was the fries. These maybe the best fries I've had in a long time. Everyone agreed that the hushpuppies were not tasty at all.
Our server must have been new or inexperienced. Several times we had to ask twice for something. Very nice guy, and he seemed to be trying very hard. We are a very laid back group, and as such we gave him a lot of slack.
The most disturbing thing that we experienced was the way our drinking glasse were handled something I've never experienced before. When our glasses of water needed refilling the waiter would grab up all the mug style glasses and take them back to refill them. The rims on the glasses were touching and we were certainly not sure that the glass returned to us was our glass. Water should be refilled at the table, or fresh glasses brought out to the table.
One person in our party was served warm beer. The manager replaced his beer with a substitute because the beer he wanted could not be served cold at the time. Another person in our group ordered a Blue Moon beer, but she was informed that they were out. A third person ordered one of Parish's signature cocktails. but they lacked some of the ingredients to make this drink.
Eat inside if possible. Traffic noise was pretty bad. Lots of motorcycles with loud pipes. Not Parish's fault, but we would have eaten inside if we had known that.
I might stop in for just fries next time, but nothing else.

Prior to my lunch I have never been here and let me just say I made the right decision.
With a group our size and everyone ordering at different times they still managed everything smoothly. I was so impressed with the service! So... The experience was amazing! The food not so much. Very disappointing. Grace was our server she was absolutely wonderful. And I'm not sure what the other lady's name was but we will call her Auntie! The most amazing beings ever. Had a great time with them both. Justin was an excellent host/waiter. He knows his stuff. I was a lil disappointed because i actually went for the lobster dinner but that is only on Thursday. We had crab cakes, which wasn't that good. A bit too fishy for me. They also lacked seasoning. The lobster ravioli was good. Chris had the lamb chop dinner which was okay. We were traveling through Macon and found this quaint little restaurant on line. it was located on a back street. The server was nice & polite. We both ordered the NY strip steaks. These steaks had to be one the toughest gristled meats that I’ve ever eaten. I told the server. She said she would tell the Chef.

We visited the Back Burner for dinner over the weekend, and it was truly lovely.
The food was very good, and the ambiance was very nice, upscale but comfortable.
I had one of the specials and cannot remember the name of it! It had very tender chicken breast, mushrooms, sausage topped with a nice cream sauce, and shaved Parmesan.
My husband ordered the shrimp and grits, as usual for him, he likes to compare. It had a lot of other things in it, and he wasn’t nearly as impressed with his. He honestly didn’t care for it! I will say the our waiter tried to steer him away to something else and he wished he’d listened!
I ordered a Caesar salad for us to share, and our server split it between two plates even though we didn’t ask. Excellent service! It was VERY good..
We finished with a delicious Crème Brûlée for dessert. I would have taken a picture of that, but we ate it too fast!
Dinner was quite expensive, but not surprising for the quality of the food, service and experience.
We would definitely go back for a special occasion! Highly recommend this place, especially if you’re looking for a romantic place for a date, and don’t mind dropping $100 before drinks..

I was blessed with the pleasure of being greeted & helped by Keynia who came out to the menu board to explain & assist me n making a great choice of items. I must say, she was correct folks. The catfish sandwich, the slaw, the fries and the Talipia plate was cooked upon order and brought to me steaming hot and fresh. And the Red velvet cake was so damn moist & good until it wasn't funny. And then to have their Specialty homemade Lemonade 🍋 to wash it all down, was priceless folks. As a Trucker I make it my business to go to small mom & pop restaurant bcuz u normally get a better one on one service from people bcuz they know their business depends on it unlike the large businesses. Well I had my great time here with each & every person I encountered even the cook who told me my Truck was gonna get Towed. Lmbo.. He played a prank on me & we couldn't stop laughing about that. Lol.. I got to meet other longtime customers, family members of the owners & friends of theirs who were there to get their share of good tasting food too. I ordered stepped outside about 10 minutes they were already done. When I opened the box I loved how nicely fried everything is! I love that when I took a bite it didn’t give fishy but a true nice fried fish! I loved the sauce. I loved how fast! I loved the cooking! It wasn’t overly seasoned but not under seasonings either. We love coming here because it reminds us of the old Clark's Fishcamp in Jacksonville. We always get the fried catfish dinner with 1 add-on of extra fish to split between us. A friend and I decided to dine in at Red Lobster (Macon, Ga) b/c I was dying to try the newly launched seafood boil and I will say, the food wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t amazing either! I won't trash this business with a 3 or 4 star overall rating but i want to point out a few things. Someone in another review pointed out it seems odd to name a place a steakhouse and have only one steak (ribeye). My food came out quickly and the server was very nice. The lady at the hostess stand didn't seem rude but she didn't have much spark. Someone else gave them a really bad review based mostly on the hostess. The waitress was very efficient and cordial. The places ventilation for the grill needs to be fixed. I love the smell of steaks cooking but not so much in the restaurant I am eating. We did have the ribeye which is weird that it is a steak house but they only offer a ribeye and a chopped steak. More of a seafood place which is fine. I've never been a fan of "booth seating" where you can seat 2 or 3 people per side...because somebody is going to have to disturb the whole table if the need to step away and some poor soul isn't going to be able to relax because they're being asked to get up and let someone out. They sell ice by the bag and she refuses to sell him ice..they are one of the most worst black run stores, corporate needs to visit and re evaluate the workers. I’ve been a frequent visitor here and have tried nearly everything on the menu—Korean fried wings, deli-style wings, hibachi, seafood, Philly cheesesteak, burgers, and appetizers.
