Have been hearing about this place for quite a while and finally decided to drag everyone along. When we got there it wasn't much to look at, pretty standard Chinese shop vibes and definitely could do with a bit of TLC but I never judge a book by its cover. We got directed to our table pretty quickly and the waiter was decently pleasant. We sat down and we decided what to get on the menu, so many options that we ordered way too much and then realized that we might not eat it all. As an entree we just got the mixed entree and it came with a spring roll, dim sim, prawn toast and satay puff. They were all good but the stand out was the prawn toast, we considered just ordering a heap of them to take home. Soon our mains came out and first was the Thai fried rice, and let me tell you that this is the most flavorsome rice I've had for a long time. Soon after the sweet and sour pork and honey chicken came out and they blew me away. The honey chicken is usually a go to for me and this didn't disappoint but it was overshadowed by the pork. This pork was the perfect amount of sweet with just a twang of tang, a perfect crunch and a fresh aftertaste. Next we had even more come out, the Pad Thai and double BBQ beef. Both great and I'd say the pad Thai isn't usually my go too but everything was exceptional, spice was nice and had decent chunks of chicken through it. The BBQ beef was sort of one we just ordered because we wanted a beef one but it turned out to be one of my favorites. (trust me it was hard to pick a favorite) the crunch was on point and the taste was like nothing I'd had before, a bit like hoisin but sweeter and just better all up. Lastly we got the Mongolian lamb, this was one that I picked and was a bit worried about because I've had bad experiences with this meal in the past. But they nailed it, it came out on a sizzling plate and the meat was so tender that it felt like eating velvet. My girlfriend is the biggest anti lamb person I know and this was her favorite meal of the night, so that should tell you everything you need to know. The only things I'd improve on is the decor/care of the restaurant. I know that's probably not going to happen as it's not really that important so I can't fault them. But one thing that would be nice is if the staff/waiters would just come and check on you as we needed some drinks refills and didn't really get a chance to ask. We will definitely be returning and hopefully bring a bigger party next time so we can share this amazing place with others, thanks for having us.
TLDR: Incredible food, recommend the Mongolian lamb and Sweet and sour pork plus the prawn toast as an entree. Staff needs to just ask a bit more about drinks.

The food is very nice But I will say I was very disappointed about my fried rice as I can’t eat egg. I asked them if they can make it without the egg which they were fine doing and I asked them if That fried rice had the little prawns in it and they said it does which I was absolutely happy with because that’s my favourite part of fried rice little did I know when I opened the fried rice. I only saw one tiny prawn in the whole dish. But there is lots of ham and chicken in it which I’ve never had chicken and fried rice before but just very disappointed that if they had to make my fried rice from scratch because it Had no egg that I would get more prawns. My advice is if you like prawns in your fried rice then you might as well just ask them for extra extra Prawns and hope that you get them

My friend recommended this restaurant to me, saying its the best Chinese in town so we had to try it out! We had a small birthday dinner last night for my husband, and it definite live up to its reputation. We loved the food so much, everything was freshly cooked.
Service was so friendly and all our dishes are brought out to our table.

Great value, especially the a la carte menu option. Each dish is more than enough for a table of four. Service was prompt, drinks were fast, from order to table was astonishingly quick, but it was a quiet night too. Restaurant is clean and tidy, but is showing it's age. Went there tonight for my mum's birthday! It was absolutely amazing! There was a group of us and had the $25 per person, all you can eat and it was Definately worth the money.
Would recommend it as a group as it is cooked to order and you need to eat what you have ordered in order to get more, so don't know if id go with only myself and someone else. Which is fair enough so it doesn't waste food.

Our party 9 adults 3 children went to order from the menu when our server suggested the party pack for our table. This seemed to please everyone in our gruop.

Well, surprise, surprise ! with covid restrictions this restaurant was good for home deliveries. Not anymore, just got a very rude, short and sharp reply from a woman there, re: a home delivery…NO, DONT DO THAT ANYMORE, no apologies and hung up on me. Rice was undercooked extremely bland, got the chicken and vegetables but changed the sauce to sweet and sour also very bland only vegetables being big chunks of cabbage, couple bits of capsicum and zucchini would have loved to see some broccoli and cauiflower to give off the real vegetable edge. Of the other main dish again no flavour. Definately will not be ordering from here again, first time we tried this place too.

It's pretty rare that I leave reviews these days, but I have been irresistibly compelled to share my experience at August Moon this evening.
After a long drive (from Charleville) I decided I needed takeaway so I could eat in the Motel and fall asleep. Chinese Takeaway usually does the job, and having had the classic fried rice and sweet n sour pork combo from literally hundreds of places across Australia, I'm pretty tough to impress.
Cut a long story short, August Moon easily exceeded every other Chinese takeaway I've eaten at.
From the inviting aroma of food when you walk in, the friendly and accommodating staff, to the absolute delight that was the dishes, I'm dishing out a 98/100.
Sweet and sour pork was exactly how I dream about it being, and the fried rice is the measure of a good cook - if the rice is good, everything else is going to be great too - let me tell you, it's in the top 2 of combo fried rice I've ever had.
My only complaint (hence the 98/100) is that now I've finished the food, and I'm too full to go get the same thing again.
Will definitely be back, in fact I'll bring the kids next week, a 4 hour return trip but absolutely worth it.

Very disappointed with tonight’s takeaway. I’ve attached some photos for reference.
The lemon chicken was extremely dry, and the sauce tasted strange, not even a hint of lemon.
The sweet and sour pork was worse. It had a strong, unpleasant flavour that made me suspect reused oil, possibly from frying beef. I'm quite sensitive to the taste of beef, and this dish was completely inedible for me. I’m now just hoping my kids won’t have any reaction from eating it.
The honey chicken had barely any sauce, and the meat was just as tough as the others.
To top it off, the food was already cold when I picked it up.

Long term customer and this evenings meals were the worst we have ever had. Combination chow mein had no sauce was dry and gluggy. We ordered sweet and sour pork and received pork in plum sauce. We had the dine in option and shared a banquet. It would be nice to see the dining area decorated and done up a little more, but that is honestly the only fault i could find. We've paid good money for bad food before, who hasn't, but the food we received from the Ocean Breeze Chinese Takeaway tonight was THE worst we've ever experienced.
We ordered king prawns with cashews, sweet and sour king prawns, 4 spring rolls and a small serve of fried rice. The spring rolls were almost cold, had no seasoning and were greasy - the accompanying dipping sauce was tasteless and an odd colour. My Mother had the prawn with cashews and said it was bland and tasteless because it needed salt. The fried rice had a 'not quite right' smell and after taste so it went into the bin pretty much straight away.
The biggest disaster of all though was the sweet and sour king prawns - they were truly, truly awful. It was obvious they'd been cooked by someone with no clue. No care or thought had gone into the preparation of this dish whatsoever.
They battered the prawns (with the shell still on the tails), deep fried them and then threw them in a plastic container. Instead of putting the sweet and sour sauce (which was ALL sour and no sweet) in a separate container they poured it right over the top of the battered prawns and put the lid on. I got home and sat down to a gluey, claggy, doughy mess of prawns. When I tried to separate this abomination and pick a prawn up with my fork the soggy batter just fell off it. It was shocking just how bad this dish was. I did try to eat it (and I think I deserve a medal for my attempt) but after two mouthfuls it went into the bin next to the dodgy fried rice. See my attached pictures of the goopy red mess. Yuck.
We may as well have walked out our front door and thrown $50 out into the street, that's how ripped off we felt after paying for the slop we received. We're hoping we don't end up with food poisoning now. This place should be closed down.

Left above post in 2019 & was happy to order here until approximately 6 months ago. Deliveries still fast & drivers are great but food has become inedible. Just ordered salt & pepper king prawns & threw half of them away as there was so much oil it was running down our fingers as we were trying to eat it. BBQ pork in plum sauce was mostly onion & carrot with a small amount of pork all swimming in a thin sickly sweet sauce. Their soups used to be really good, but even those are now bland with very little meat or sweet corn.
Such a shame that the quality of the food has gone down so much that it's not even worth the price from 3 years ago let alone that they charge now.

Three people visiting from brisbane and myself so we bought a container each and received a free fried rice. The rice was hard, the battered chicken was hard, dry and very overcooked. I ordered the Combination hokkien Noodles, boneless duck with plum sauce and beef omasum.
The restarant was almost empty, only one other table was seated, but it's a very nice place.
Food came out of the kitchen surprising quickly. Staff was very friendly.
The duck in plum sauce was superb, the meat fell apart in my mouth. The plum sauce was a tad sweet for my taste, but I don't have a sweet tooth (I prefer a savoury meal to a dessert anytime), so that's a question of personal preference.
Noodles were great and so was the omasum. I didn't know what an omasum was, but quickly googled it. I recommend it highly. I think even if you are squeamish and don't like food that looks weird, it'll be an easy challenge to conquer because it tastes great.

The atmosphere and the service was good however the food is quite average compared to other places with similar pricing that I have been to. We tried around 4-5 mains with rice. The food was served quite fast and the portion sizes were good. Almost all the dishes we got were a little too salty. Great place to have a nice dinner and is in a quiet part of grandy. For starters I ordered the pork buns and they were great, sort of like the ones you get in the freezer but a lot better, then I moved onto the Mongolian lamb that came out on a hot plate and was a nice spectacle and also kept the food nice and warm. My partner ordered the honey chicken and the mixed starters platter, she was very happy with her choice and I obviously got a try as well. The chicken was just how I like it, soft with just enough crunch on the battering but still was able to have the honey sauce absorb into the coating. The starters were quite nice too but I do wish everything came with just a little more sauce. Lastly we had deep fried ice cream and I had no idea what to expect as I haven't had it before but I was definitely happy with my choice, the coating could be a little more crispy but it was still a nice taste and looked great.
Tldr: Definitely worth a try and has an overwhelming amount of options, would need multiple visits to try even half of the menu. Has room for improvement but overall was a pleasant dining experience.

The restaurant was a little messy with just one young girl working. I had to wave her down to order however there was not even 3 tables being used when I arrived l. There was lots of dirty tables so I guess she had a bit of a busy time before I arrived, the dumplings are not made on premises can tell, that’s was a big let down for me, the chicken feet where nice, the chicken omelette was nice too. Things I liked were that the meal was not too salty or packed with sauce. It was rather a balanced dish which may not be as palatable to a western appetite but could be enjoyed in different ways by tasting the ingredients more.

We ordered 2 combination noodles- 1 as is and the other with rice noodles. They were both flavourless and 1 had one prawn and the other one came with no prawns 😞 I was especially looking forward to the prawns out of the whole dish and to receive none when you've paid for them ($17.50 for the rice noodles too) is extremely disappointing.
I won't rule these guys out completely as maybe the combination noodles are meant to be plain and virtually flavourless, so open to trying another dish there. The service was really helpful and friendly too.

One of the few places in Toowoomba where they really care about the quality of food they serve. This must be one of the best, quick, and affordable chinese takeaway in the area. The wok area is in the front where you can see the wok hei action and flavour being incorporated to your food, giving it a smokey flavour. This place is rubbish, here i am thinking the noodles are at the bottom of my Combination Egg Noodle Soup. And there's next to no noodles. Better off calling it Combination Vegetable Soup..

Ordered the pork bao and chicken skewers. Bao is tagged with 'customer favourite' on the menu. I'd like to know who decided to put that there. How many customers have come back and said "hey, this is my favourite", that they made it a permanent addition to the menu? The bao buns themselves were great, not rubbery at all as is oft the case. Nice and soft. Decent slice of pork and tasty sauce. I'd say overpriced for such a small volume of food but this is the way.
Chicken skewers were succulent and full of flavour. Mild spice. Just right for my western caucasian palate. I'm yet to know how they go on exit but at the time of writing, my gut and bowels are in good health. The skewers taste kinda like those pre-marinated skewers from Woolies (other supermarkets are available). Sounds bad but those skewers are so good! Underrated. Nice one woolies. These ones had a slightly bolder flavour and some extra garnishes. Could you do the same? Probably. But here they'll do it for you, plus you get to look like you have a social life because you're eating out.
An Englishman was on what was clearly a first date at the table behind us. Strong accent and strong statement with the gold chain necklace. I hope his date went well though. He arrived quite early, paid for the lady and from what I caught of their interactions he seemed lovely. Good on him. Five stars for that guy.
Another couple who I suspect have been together for quite a while were also there. They scrolled through their respective phones and kept out of each other's business. Dressed casually at 7pm on a Sunday night, I think that's what love looks like.
Seemingly meaningless observations, but I think it speaks to the diversity of this places appeal. Good enough for a causal "can't be bothered" Sunday dinner, but equally good for a first date. Is it the best location for either? Possibly not, but they do have a dragon.

Stumbled across Junk recently when wandering through Toowoomba. The wife and I decided to grab an early dinner, selecting several plates to share so that we could better experience their offerings.
We chose the Crispy Eggplant, Pork Bao, Charcoal Satay Chicken Skewers, and lastly, the Loaded Fries. All 4 meals were well presented and quickly served. We disagreed on order of preference yet, overall, both enjoyed each plate. None of the meals had the 'wow' factor that would see us racing back but, truthfully, that's rare to find in any establishment.

A quite Sunday night down a downtown side street, designer graffitied walls and lit by lanterns. We were warmly welcomed. Smaller street style menu but plenty of great options. Extremely enthusiastic service, and very reasonable prices. Extraction fan over the woks sounds like a jet engine! I've had a few dishes here and whilst the service and price has been spot on the flavour isn't authentic. Tonights experience only worth 2 stars, was the Chef having a bad day ? Pick up service & food usually good, not so tonight. Got to restaurant at stated time for p/u on a large order, told 1 dish not yet ready so waited 15 minutes while rest of order must have just been sitting on a bench in the kitchen & not kept warm as after the short 10 min drive home food was just warm - everyone was very disappointed. Worst of it though was that everything tonight was REALLY bland, salt & pepper pork didn't have any salt & pepper flavour, sauce on omelette was thin & just tasted like watered down soy sauce, everything needed warming in the microwave & heavy seasoning at the table. Toowoomba has many Chinese restaurants, will be giving someone else a go next time.

I visited today for the first time in ages - I really need to visit here more often. Lucy does a great job with fast, friendly service. The Malaysian dishes are my favourites; Marmite pork, rendang and the combination laksa (pictured)
Originally planning on takeaway but changed my mind to dine in that was cheerfully accommodated. The dining area is spotless - very clean tables and chairs. Highly recommended for Malaysian dishes in Toowoomba.

Got three meals there recently as takeaway.
The restaurant is spotlessly clean so top marks there.
The staff were friendly, the prices were reasonable and the food came out in good time.
All the food elements were fresh and nicely cooked, the only issue was that across the three meals they were bland. There were no nice interesting Asian sauces in evidence, it was about what i would cook at home, a bit boring.
Happy to go back and try other dishes but spice it up a bit guys.
