Parked in the car park of the Little Manor pub, not my first choice as landlords often rail at being treated like public car parks. I've even known some to clamp non-customers. However, there's not a lot of off-road spaces so I took a chance. Next time I'll investigate the Parish Hall opposite.
The first half mile from the pub to the start of the trail is a bit of a meander but easy to follow on the AT App. The route proper is in two sections, each running parallel, the Trans Pennine Trail and the Bridgewater Canal. Which you take out and which back is up to you, I chose to start on the Trail. Being honest, this is just one straight, rather uninspiring pathway and I was glad to reach the end point. The towpath of the canal back was far more interesting and pleasant.
The Trail path was largely wide tarmac or hard soil so very suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs. The Tow Path not so much so; muddy patches, tree roots growing through and rough ground would make this difficult. No special footwear is needed but take clothing appropriate to the weather as there is little shelter on the way round.
A good three star but mainly owing to the canal section.
Today's wander from Thelwall, out along the Trans Pennine Trail for a mile or three and back along the Bridgewater Canal. The Trail section was a bit uninspiring but the canal tow paths much more interesting.
And it didn't rain!!

Scenic trail to go for a stroll or bike ride! Great for nature and wildlife spotting.
Usually quiet, but can be busy during sunny weather. Peaceful and refreshing. Clean pathways. Nice unique boats dotted about.
Passes through Worsley Village, a rural area far distance from the city centre. Only recommend visiting if nearby. Cafes and restaurants around to enjoy. Perfect for anyone, solo or families. Dog-friendly.

もともとマンチェスターに石炭を運ぶために作られた運河なので、当然マンチェスター市内随所に見どころがあります。
マンチェスタートラムのディーンズゲート - キャッスルフィールド駅から徒歩２分ほど。古い鉄道高架橋をくぐってすぐ右のスロープを下っていくと、トラムに沿った小さな運河に降りられます。
運河の片側は幅2m少々の岸壁兼歩道になっていて、ところどころに繋留された細長いボートの横を、自転車や歩行者が普通に往来。その姿はどうみても、ちょっとくたびれた運河沿いの単なる生活道路ですが、小さな閘門を過ぎて少し進むと、突然開けた場所に出て、ナローボートのたまり場やウォーターサイドの小公園、大きなアーチを描いて運河を越える歩行者専用橋、古い跳ね上げ橋の歩道など、歴史的なウォーターサイドの景観が目の前に広がります。
イギリスでは当たり前すぎる風景なのか、観光客はほぼゼロ、行き交う人も周囲に目もくれませんが、ただ古いだけじゃない風格＆オーラが半端ありませんでした。

Just a fabulous stretch of Canal to stroll or ride down, leading all the way to Eccles and beyond or the other way Wigan and beyond. There is so much to see snd do on, next to and just short walk from. In the summer on dry days you can purchase handmade jewelery, handmade artifacts, art, food beverages and even get a haircut. The canal is a fantastic way to visit new towns and their amenities and learn the local stories. You will always be bumping into like-minded people too. This stretch, as you would expect is packed with history and not just industrial either. Walk, dog walk or bike, there really is something for everyone and in many instances, it's right on your doorstep.

If desired you carry on walking past Stretford and onwards into Manchester.
Look out for the wide range of birdlife on the way including a Heron that occasionally appears, near Dane Road.

Lovely place to walk around at anytime of the day. But i do enjoy an evening walk 👌
The restaurant stays open quite late and offers take out option on their hot drinks, possibly others never tried. The restaurant staff are helpful and friendly too.
There are a few different walks available, lots of great photo opportunities and also a wildlife hut half way if you need to take 5. Benches around the walk too. Plenty of parking and easy to get to.
Never tried the water activities but from what I have seen they appear to be good, folk sound happy enough when partaking.

A beautiful place to visit especially on a sunny day. Lots of activities available and a lovely place for dog walking and a day out. Has everything needed for a great family activity day to a quiet lone walk with the dog. A lot is wheelchair accessible.

Lovely place for a walk if the weather is good, and you can get on to the Mersey and join the Transpennine Trail if you want to extend your stroll.
There's a good children's playground and it's pretty flat to go around the lake (suitable for buggies or a robust mobility scooter). There's a car park with toilets (they are not great though) and there's often an ice cream van there too.

Lovely lake to take the dog on a walk around, gets busy on a weekend after around 11am with lots of people have a jog or walking the dogs as well.
There’s a little playpark for kids not far inside the entrance, along with the Tibetan cafe for food and coffee.
There’s a car pack with toilets, 4* for the review is because the toilets aren’t particularly nice, but overall a lovely place to have a walk!

Lovely park nice and quite not alot of people around so you can enjoy this tranquil space the lake is really big with ducks and swans to feed. We went on an Autumn day and spent a couple of hours here walking around and then playing in the park. There is carparking on site and cafe. For the toilets take your own soap and toilet paper, there wasn't any . We always bring some with us.

The park covers a large area. There is a pond on the southern part of the park where various types of birds can be seen. The water seems blue and people enjoy watching the views. You can find a mound where people enjoy sitting on the grass field. In the southern area, it remains crowdy all the day. Platt Fields Park really exemplifies a marvellous multi-faceted sense of community! Many of the activities in the park are supported by volunteers.
There’s Market Garden, offering locally-grown produce, a youth-handicraft program, and a ‘sit-down-and-take-a-break’ area for coffee and pastries.
There’s a playground, with numerous slides and swings, for kiddies.
There’s a model boat club, favoured by seniors who are often seen skilfully guiding their model boats across the lake.
For the more physically active groups, there are Saturday morning park runs, a tennis court, a BMX track, a basketball court and a cricket field.
There are also vast areas of open field for just sitting and watching the world go by, meeting with friends, or enjoying family picnics.
Very often there are various fairs and cultural events, that give the term ‘fun’ a whole new meaning.
There are dozens of benches throughout the park and a centrally-located WC.
As well as providing a wonderful sense of community, this beautiful park also affords quiet areas for those who simply seek solitude and quiet reflection.
On my latest visit to Platt Fields, what totally mesmerised me were the colours of nature! I’m still trying to get my head around the vividness of Nature’s palette! Simply gorgeous!

A wonderful park with something for everybody. Just to walk or relax in the beautiful grounds. It's well cared for and obviously loved by the locals. There are plenty of activities available with boat hire on the lake, bowling greens, bmx track, children's play area and various ball game courts. Many historical things to see with the Cathedral Arch, Nico Ditch and Platt Hall (1764) which houses a gallery of costumes. Also several different gardens including the Shakespearean Garden. Manchesters first MP, Charles Worsley, converted the estate in to a country park in the 1600's. Plenty of free car parking.

What an amazing hidden gem such a brilliant idea to restore this former Victorian viaduct I can’t wait to see the phase 2 expansion when it’s completed. What a wonderful place! The National Trust team have done an excellent job converting this abandoned railway bridge into a magnificent elevated garden full of endemic trees and herbs. Great idea that is only half completed awaiting further funding to finish the project off. Only puzzling thing is the viaduct was decommissioned in 1969 & it took them this long to decide to do something worthwhile with it! Lift was out of order when we visited so had to use the stairs. There are toilets available on the viaduct.

I have been to different Parks around me, because I am walking 60 miles for Prostate Cancer Research. Choose Alexandra park on Saturday.
When arrived it was quite busy, lots of people running, local runners, it was at the end of the race ,so not a problem to walk around. Having people around make it safer. Ashame cafe wasn't open,only Sundays to Tuesdays 11 to 4pm and the same to toilets. It's a good park to go anytime if the year if it's not raining. There are tennis courts,cricket square and football pitch. Walked around saw the lake named serpentine,I couldn't understand why,but when you keep walking around,yes it looks, like a serpentine, with geese,ducks and swans. Thera are 2 or 3 tables by the lake for picnics. Could be a good place to go,but make sure kids are accompanied by adults.

Situated reasonably close to both old Trafford football and cricket grounds, this park can provide some nice respite from the heaving crowds on match day and associated hooliganism.

There's snacks and ice creams and coffees or tea available from the different shacks or ice cream van. Climbing frame is huge and really good for keeping the kids fit climbing to the top. Then nursery staff missed to update admission details joining details, settling in session until i rang them to check.
Now during settling-in session my child got injured or hurt. Nursery staff had no information or awareness about the incident and they filled accident form as formality based on information i provided. Rather than comforting the child or asking them if they are hurt.
They really need to see what they are doing. I am scared regarding the safety of my child whilst with this setting.
