However, I did notice that part of the area is currently undergoing maintenance, so only the front cave is open for exploration at the moment. Loved the walk-through tunnels and the surrounding area. A beautiful day made the views that much more spectacular. Some areas in the tunnel get dark, others have water dripping down and loose gravel so you shouldn't try to cycle thru. Take time to learn about the amazing history of this place. Definitely coming back with the family as it is a pretty flat walk not too long at all. Would highly recommend it for all ages, you need to see it at least once.

Very impressive tunnels, and also a wonderful story behind them. Well worth the almost 2 hour drive from Vancouver. Went there on Civic Holiday (Aug. 1) 2016 with my family, everyone enjoyed the trip. We arrived around 7:30-8:00 PM, so there were few people and the area was quite tranquil. I suggest going quite early or quite late in the day to avoid the large crowds. The picture was taken from the inside of a tunnel, I forgot which one.
Edit: The tunnels have reopened after the floods in 2021 on August 19 2024, I went again on August 25 2024 and the tunnels are open to halfway into the second tunnel. You can see workers working on the rest of the tunnels beyond the fence.

Beautiful scenery as well as an important part of Western history. U just feel different kind of relaxation walking through one of the best nature and man made wonders. So much greenery and the freshness of the air. The sound of the river bouncing off the canyon just makes the best no instrument music ever. I can literally spend all day there jus exploring woods and water and just listen to the water and nature's sounds. Simply just love it!!!

Great not so little park, lots of spaces to relax. Big play structure for kids to play on and lots of place for parents to sit and watch. There is a bunch of picnic table to have a lunch at, cafes and shops close by which is convenient. Probably one of the few towns to have a large park with all the amenities so central to the towns core. There are tennis courts, a large open field, old growth trees, a cenotaph, and tons of wood carvings including but not limited to Rambo. The bathrooms are really clean and are conveniently located off the main drag on Wallace street. Great place to stop on your travels or spend the day exploring this quaint town.

By far one of my favourite parks!
The pictures attached are up Silverdaisy mountain. It has been one of my favourite hikes so far. The trail is in pretty rough shape in some spots, but it adds to the challenge and charm.
The rest of the park is also really beautiful and it seems exploring the whole park would take a really long time, but I would recommend visiting it. There is a bit of everything there that would be good for a lot of different people. There is a lot of interesting historical information here and there are rhododendron patches which is quite rare for them to grow naturally in the wild. Did I mention the park is beautiful?
If you go make sure you are aware of bears and bring bug spray. There is also no cell reception here, so come prepared and be aware of that in order to ensure your safety.
The mosquitos and wasps are the biggest negative to this wonderful park. As long as you let people know where you are going and are prepared with enough food and water so that you can take advantage of all the exploring and different activities the park has to offer.

The site was beautiful. The only slight is the logging road drive up. I've been on much worse though. The park ranger, Issac, was wonderful. Made our time there great. New outhouses, nice playground, and lots of hiking trails.

The park is absolutely beautiful and Ross Lake is clean and refreshing. The campground at Ross lake is well kept, park operators are hard to find. I did enjoy speaking to the American and Canadian park rangers and they had great activities for kids. It seems like a party campground as it’s 60km down a gravel road. Also the mosquitos were horrible, you can’t stay outside without bug spray and in the sun or else you will be eaten alive. We left a day early because the bugs were so bad even with heavy spray.

Last week I was driving from Kelowna to Vancouver and thought it would be best to move my legs in Hope. What a pleasant surprise it was to find this beautiful kept path to a breathtaking falls just of the highway. It was the perfect spot to rejuvenate and splash my face with some fresh Adam’s ale.
Some mystic wood treasures to behold as well along my quest.

I took part in the Autumn Leaves tournament this weekend and it was well put on. I had never been to Hope GC prior to last week and it will now be a regular course to play. A very lovely woman helped us in making decisions on how to spend the afternoon exploring the town. Although the centre is just a trailer they have a good selection of brochures, maps and other info. As well as souvenirs.
Also the centre is the winter home of the great Rambo carving. As of early April it is still waiting to be installed back on the street.

Hell’s Gate is definitely worth a visit if you’re driving through the Fraser Canyon. The gondola ride across the canyon is short but breathtaking, and the views of the rushing Fraser River are stunning. The suspension bridge and historical displays add a nice touch, and the whole place feels like a piece of BC history.
However, parking is very limited, so try to arrive early. The on-site restaurant has a very limited menu — mostly sandwiches (around $14), two soups, fries, and burgers. The food is overpriced and not very impressive. Also, the gift shop, while fun to browse, is quite expensive.
Still, the scenery makes up for the downsides. If you manage your expectations for food and shopping, the overall experience is memorable and well worth it.

A great place to stop and stretch your legs on a long road trip and well worth the time spent. A great look into the history of the salmon runs on the river. There’s a great little ‘spooky’ self-guided tour and the suspension bridge was definitely a bit hair raising. Also, they have a penny crusher machine so make sure you have some loonies!

I've been to hell's gate a number of times and it has a nice view of the Frazer river but there isn't really much to do once you've taken the airtram to the bottom. The gift store is lacking and doesn't have much things to offer but the fudge on the other had is really good. The road to get there is good, the last 6kms is gravel but still very well maintained and any car with decent car can make it, don’t necessarily need a 4x4.
The campgrounds are great and also well monitored. The Day Use area is relatively small but I imagine this place doesn’t get too much traffic anyways. However, if you walk by the lake, there are many day-use spots where you can have your picnic or go for a swim.

The road into the park is terrible!! There are some places it's a washboard road, others when there are giant holes and some with rocks jetting out. You can just drive super slow if you decide to go.

This rustic park is located about 20 minutes from Hwy 1. Follow directions from the BCParks website. The road turns to a good quality dirt road partway in. The scenery as you drive into the hills is spectacular with rushing creeks, waterfalls, and coastal forest. On the plus side this park has large private campsites that are mostly level with tables and firepits. There is a small lake surrounded by mountains with a 10hp limit and a small boat launch. Perfect for canoe and kayak. The park is small, and the lake is an easy walk. On the negative side none of the sites have power, water or sewer hookup. There are no water taps but there is are hand pumps for drinking water located in the campground area. No showers. No flush toilets just pit toilets. There is only limited hiking available and no playground for children.

It is beautiful and extremely peaceful. We were able to walk down the trail and find a private little beach area for us to lounge at. There isn't a lot of parking but wasn't busy when we went on a Monday afternoon. We went swimming in the water it was cold and so refreshing as it was 35 degrees out. I didn't like the garbage people left lying around. My daughter found some glass in the water. There is also camping there but we didn't check that out.

What a hidden gem with such history! I think the gentleman's name was Sam and he is so passionate and knowledgeable. He has done an absolutely amazing job of curating the history of the Sunshine Valley area and this unique part of the history of Canada about the Japanese men taken from their homes to work. That's so important to learn about.

Do yourself a favour and exit off the highway and make your way to this great little museum. Ryan is a terrific guy to talk to and he's extremely knowledgeable about this era. Twenty years after the camps closed we weren't taught about them in school. There is a lot of memorabilia tucked into the rooms.
The museum seems to operate on donations and souvenir sales. Be generous, and keep an important part of our history from being totally forgotten. Perhaps even repeated.

Excellent museum about the Tashme Japanese Internment Camp. I had no idea the largest camp in B.C. was located in Sunshine Valley. This is one of the best small museums I have been to. Well worth a stop. The curator and owner opened the museum up for us and shared his extensive knowledge of the History.

An unforgetable experience! We visited the Tashme Museum during our Inaba Family Reunion in June. Our grandfather, Masakiyo Inaba, had been interred there. It was incredibly moving to see where he lived and to learn of the history of the site.
We cannot express enough thanks and admiration for Ryan who has done so much for the Japanese Canadian community.

Located in Sunshine Valley near the campground and cabins. Tashme museum tells some of the facts about Japanese detention camps in the 1940s. Historically located at the site where thousands were imprisoned. A real eye opener and also very educational. Pretty sad that a whole demographic were imprisoned based on heritage.

I was stunned by how incredible this small museum is. I didn’t realize that it’s not only privately owned, but that it’s a passion project by someone, and not run and owned by our government, which you may think they would do.
Regardless, Ryan the owner has gone to great lengths to provide a ton of value by staging what it looked like, but having a small theatre running documentary films and basically being a fountain of knowledge regarding the history of the interment itself plus the area surrounding it.
I found my grandfathers name, where him my aunt and grandmother were living for the 4 years and where my mother was born in the camp as well. Such an amazing place. I’ll be donating my mothers photos to this place when she passes on. She’s got a ton of them. Ryan will place to good use.
