Place Stanislas is a stunning neoclassical square in Nancy, France, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Designed by Emmanuel Here in the 1750s, this grand space is named after the enlightened Duke of Lorraine and features his statue at its center. Surrounded by elegant 18th-century buildings like the Opera National de Lorraine and the City Hall, visitors can admire exquisite gilded gates crafted by Jean Lamour and beautiful rococo fountains designed by Guibal.
A truly impressive square with royal charm! Place Stanislas in Nancy is an architectural gem – spacious, elegant, and full of history. The golden gates, fountains, and classical buildings create a grand and welcoming atmosphere. Cafés, museums, and the town hall are located right on the square – a perfect place to soak in the charm of Nancy. Some buildings around the square are currently under renovation, but this doesn’t take away from the overall experience. A must-see when visiting Nancy!

Really loved it. A mix of French and Polish baroque. The place and the surrounding garden was really friendly. We saw a dancefloor in the middle of the gardens, behind a really nice cafe. All the locals young and old swinging to the music. Magical.
John M — Google review
I visited Place Stanislas today and was completely charmed. The golden gates, elegant facades, and lively atmosphere made it feel like walking through a fairytale from the old times. It felt peaceful and inviting I took a break by the Neptune fountain, enjoying the breeze and the sound of water — such a calming moment in the middle of the city. This place isn’t just beautiful; it has soul. I’m truly grateful I got to experience it.
Konrad K — Google review
beautiful square with several restaurants & elegant classic coffee shops surrounded with beautiful buildings like opera house and fine art museum and during summertime there’s a tourist train can show you the glamour of the town & all the monuments.

Very beautiful and well preserved plaza. The architecture is stunning and the finishes with gold add a nice touch to the look of the buildings.

This is an extraordinarily magical place at night and a must-see during the day! Baroque styles Gates and decorations on the buildings make this one of my favorite spots in Nancy! Fun fact: this place, the place de la Carrière and the place d'Alliance are part of the World Heritage Site 💯
Stefan H — Google review
Absolutely stunning square and a true gem of Nancy. Place Stanislas is beautifully designed, with elegant 18th-century buildings and golden gates that shine in the sunlight. The atmosphere is lively during the day with cafés and people enjoying the space, and at night the light show on the buildings is magical. A perfect place to stroll, relax, or take photos. Park
Parc de la Pépinière, also known as La Pep by locals, is a lush 21-hectare park nestled in the heart of Nancy's historic center. Originally a royal nursery established by Stanislas, it was transformed into a public park in 1835 while preserving its original layout. The park features wooded areas, a stunning rose garden, and a grid of alleys flanked by flowerbeds and statues including one by Auguste Rodin.
A beautiful and peaceful park in the heart of Nancy, with lots of shadow and green light. Perfect for walking, relaxing, or enjoying a picnic. There’s also delicious food available, a lovely rose garden, and a small animal park – great for all ages and a true highlight of the city!
Rayna — Google review
Located in the centre of Nancy next to Place Stanislas, the Pépinière park is a wonderful green place for families and couples. It has a rose garden, a mini zoo where peacocks freely wander around, a great playground, sports field, merry-go-round and children's rides. It also has a small cafe and ice cream stand. There are many floral displays, also wooden architecture exhibitions and beautiful paths with ancient and exotic trees for a stroll. Magnificent and calming place.!
Ely M — Google review
A tranquil haven in Nancy, ideal for leisurely walks and unwinding. Captured serene moments, like an elderly couple peacefully seated on a bench, without intruding.
Gagan — Google review
A good place to relax. Extensive trails on 21 acres. There are several gardens including a rose garden. Several rides for children and a band shell for entertainment. Snacks are available at several stands.

Huge park and great ambiance. Situated just beside city centre and good for sports, gatherings etc. We have been to this park few times during our visit to Nancy and enjoyed a lot

Nestled in the heart of Nancy, Villa Majorelle is a stunning example of Art Nouveau architecture that dates back to 1902. Designed by renowned Paris architect Henri Sauvage for the talented furniture designer Louis Majorelle, this grand estate showcases exquisite stained glass and elegantly curved wooden staircases. The villa features striking metal supports that gracefully rise towards its balconies, reminiscent of swaying cobras.
A beautiful example of Art Nouveau design applied in architecture, interior design & furniture design. This is a beautifully restored and presented house. Very inspiring. Walkable distance from the train station with a lot of other buildings from the same period along the way. Must book your tickets in advance before you visit. Group visitors in the morning and other visitors in the afternoon. Unfortunately they don’t have much in terms of souvenirs to buy.
G. S — Google review
A stunning example of Art Nouveau architecture and design—an absolute gem for anyone interested in the movement. The restored rooms are beautifully detailed, showcasing exquisite furniture and decorative elements that reflect the spirit of the era. That said, I left feeling underwhelmed. Only three rooms are accessible, and while they are lovely, they offer a limited sense of the house as a whole. I would have loved to learn more about the daily life of the Majorelle family, the full layout of the villa, and what lies behind the many closed doors—even a small plaque or visual hint would make a big difference. I also wish there had been more information about the architect and access to architectural plans or sketches to better understand the building’s original design. The little brochure notes that there will be more rooms in view after the final part of restoration planned for 2021-2022. Well, writing this review in 2025, I can attest to that not happening. The exhibition texts mention the family’s photo album several times, but unfortunately, one can only see a couple of photos. Knowing that the house was used as advertisement for Majorelle’s firm, I would love to see the commercial photographs, articles and catalogue entrees as well. Overall, it’s a beautiful site with great potential—but I left wishing for a deeper, more immersive experience.
Elizaveta K — Google review
We enjoyed our joint visit to this villa & the nearby School of Nancy museum. It's a bit cheaper to get the joint ticket. Down load the guided app as this gives lots more information. Stunning glass windows!
Pauline M — Google review
This is a review of a guided tour. It was instructive and logically designed, as we spent time talking about the consistency of design in each room, how the family used the rooms, and how the layout changed (e.g., the Moroccan influences after the bombing). The tour was very accommodating and I recommend it. I wouldn't have gotten as much information via a self-guided tour. The extra 3 euros for a tour are cheap. The caveat is that you must book tours in advance and there is at most one per day, as the guide doubles as guide with the nearby museum. Note that restoration work is ongoing so you can visit the first floor and only the master bedroom in the second floor at present. Very tiny gift shop, so consider buying at the museum instead or in complement.

Villa Majorelle is a beautiful example of Art Nouveau in Nancy. Designed by Henri Sauvage for Louis Majorelle in 1902, it has amazing details like stained glass, ironwork, and organic designs. It was both a home and a place to showcase Majorelle’s furniture. The interior is stunning, and the craftsmanship is impressive. If you like architecture or history, it’s definitely worth a visit! There is a maquet of the house on the terrace, explaining the structure and materials used for building. Also, the staff was lovely and helpful.
Vafa — Google review
I literally said "wow" out loud at least twice., especially the fireplace in the dining room. Simply amazing to see full-blown Art Nouveau en place. More interesting to me than the Musee Ecole d'Nancy because of the total effect of the architecture, furnishings and decoration. Wish more were open and I would go back in a second. Highlight of the Nancy trip.

Museums
The Musée de l'École de Nancy is a former collector's home and garden that showcases art nouveau furniture and craft pieces by members of the school. Located in the historic center of Nancy, it is surrounded by notable attractions such as Place Stanislas, Parc de la Pepiniere, the ducal palace, and the Fine Arts museum with its impressive collection of Daum crystal.
Wow! A fantastic collection of furniture and beautiful windows. Resting in the garden on a very hot day was very welcome. We did the self guided walking tour, then this museum and then Villa Majorelle. Get the joint ticket for the museum & villa as it's a bit cheaper. Small shop where you can purchase postcards, jigsaws etc.
Pauline M — Google review
An amazing art nouveau collection of furniture, stained glass, and rooms with carved and curved panelling. Mosaic flooring. Exquisite carpentry skills in every room. The garden has another round building with an aquarium which looked amazing from the outside.
Chev M — Google review
Excellent and highly specialized collection in local art nouveau. A bit amateurish in museum management so far, so it's not yet a broad international destination. Descriptions are bilingual at times, solely in French often -- international tourists struggled. The gift shop could have a lot more on art nouveau. Some of the descriptions are inside rooms that we can't walk into so it's hard to read. The staff was very publicly complaining about their jobs. I see it as having strong potential but needing a more professional management.
Philippe — Google review
Nancy was an important city in the art nouveau movement in the late nineteenth century. The museum contains extensive glass, ceramic and furniture work by Emile Galle, a leader of this new art in Nancy. There are also works by Jacques Gruber and others. This is an amazing museum. Highly recommended.
Mike Z — Google review
Free for students when card is presented and, due to interventions in the house, the normal price is 5€. I really recommend for Art Nouveau lovers, it’s a well kept house fully furnished. It’s not a huge space so your visit might be quick. The garden is really beautiful in spring.
Bea — Google review
Wonderful collection of one man which showcases the artistry of designers in the Nancy area during the Belle Epoque.
John A — Google review
This place is amazing. My wife and I both loved it. The best museum in town.
Bonus N — Google review
This museum is a home dedicated to Art Nouveau and was the home of collector Eugene Corbin. It’s beautifully presented with very helpful staff. They have an amazing collection of works and it’s very inspiring. There was an on going work during our visit. This is not a wheelchair accessible museum. However, I think it is best to switch the entrance and exit points because all that inspiration has no outlet, just the streets. The visitors should go in that small side door, go through the collection and get inspired then come out to the garden (hopefully a cafe and a shop for souvenirs). I was disappointed there weren’t any souvenirs to buy. It would’ve been nice to have a fridge magnet, tote, tea towel a replica or an art nouveau inspired jewellery to bring back. Maybe a book or two as well. This and Villa Majorelle are within 10minutes walk, so I recommend visiting the Musee de L’ecole de Nancy in the morning then Villa Majorelle in the afternoon. You can buy combined ticket for both places for 9€

Place de la Carrière is a picturesque square with a rich history dating back to the 16th century. It is flanked by historical buildings such as the Palais du Gouverneur and Fermee par l'Arc Here. On 17 July, 2024, my wife and I came here. Coming from Hong Kong, we were very impressed to see the landscape architecture. Having waited for passers-by to walk or cycle past, we captured our sights.

This is a beautiful square located next to Place Stanislas. It consists of numerous World Heritage structures. The Arc Here, Merchants Exchange, Government Palace, the Beauvau-Craon Hotel, the Here Pavilion and others constructed from the 1500s. There is a semicircular colonnade decorated with the busts of Olympian gods. In the center there is an esplanade lined with lime trees and with fountains at each corner. There were races and tournaments along this road. This is an amazing area. You can now stop for a meal at Louis XV or a drink at LE 15 at the Government Palace.

Very animated in Christmas with christmas shops and cafés and a huge ferris wheel with a view on practically the whole city. A lot of events take place in it too throughout the year like the pride, music festivals, Nancy's book festival and others.

Churches & Cathedrals
Nancy Cathedral, a Baroque masterpiece dating back to the 1700s, is a sight to behold in the charming city of Nancy. Located near the stunning Place Stanislas and the opulent Ducal Palace, this cathedral stands out with its Italian-inspired design by Giovanni Betto. The interior boasts a serene atmosphere with minimal carvings but features a striking painted dome dedicated to heavenly glory by Claude Jacquart.
This cathedral is dedicated to King Sigebert III and the Virgin Mary; Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-l'Annonciation et Saint-Sigebert. This is baroque style architecture at its glorious representation! King Sigebert III was laid to rest here and became a pilgrimage for both religious and secular populus. It's absolutely stunning inside especially the domes on the transept and the main Apse. The Great organ gallery is a classified French historic monument. Originally built by Nicolas Dupont and one of his largest and most spectacular. One of the marvels of this cathedral worth exploring. A slow and meticulous exploring of this beautiful cathedral is required to really appreciate the magnitude and splendour of this very Baroque place of worship. Suitable for all ages and backgrounds and it's wheelchair friendly.
Antoine M — Google review
Note the hours of entry as the cathedral is open to visitors only at certain times. This is a very pretty cathedral and has a lot of light to be able to see the interior. Unfortunately right now (summer 2023) the cathedral is undergoing renovation so you have various aspects of a renovation blocking some parts of the structure. I’d say it’s still worth the visit if you are in Nancy at the right time.

Cathedrale Notre-Dame de l’annunciation Nancy was built in the 18th century in the baroque architectural style. It has not been maintained very well but is still worth visiting.

Big and magnificent Baroque style cathedral in Nancy. They broke ground in the 18th century and finished building it in the century. It is a national monument and the seat of the Bishop of Nancy and Toul. Sculptors and structure are very detailed. Location is excellent as it is in the center, right in front of several restaurants.

Notre-Dame-de-l'Annonciation Cathedral of Nancy or in simple English Nancy Cathedral. It is about 300 years old. Location is very convenient, very close to Place Stanislas. We visited on a Monday. It was quite and peaceful. We spent some time enjoying the ambiance and browsing the beauty of it's architecture, paintings and the details. It was a very pleasing experience.

Porte de la Craffe is a restored gate located in the 14th-century defense wall of the city. It features bas reliefs and two watchtowers, offering a glimpse into the historical significance of the area. The gate is part of the rich cultural heritage found in the capital of the Dukes of Lorraine. Visitors can explore various attractions such as Place Stanislas, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its impressive Golden doors and Rococo fountains.
This magnificent city gate was built in the 14-15th century. It was made during the reign of Duke John of Lorraine. The view from Grande Rue is stunning and “fairy tale”like in appearance. The gothic stone cutting is amazing and very well preserved. This is the best of the surviving city gates. There are several cafes from which you can admire the gate. It is close to Place Stanislas so easy to get to.

The Museum of Fine Arts in Nancy is a must-visit for art lovers, housed in an elegant 18th-century building. The gallery showcases a diverse collection ranging from 14th-century paintings to modern art, featuring renowned artists like Monet, Rubens, and Picasso. Visitors can also explore the city's charming old town with its cobblestone streets and half-timbered houses.
Visiting the Museum of Fine Arts in Nancy was an unforgettable experience. The incredible collection, especially the works of the Impressionists, is simply mesmerizing! The paintings captivate with their play of light, colors, and emotions, transporting you right into the heart of the era. It’s amazing how this museum preserves artworks that tell an entire story. This place inspires you and leaves you wanting to return again and again.

There is a great special exhibit on the history of graffiti. There are also works by Yayoi Kusama which are also amazing. There are paintings by Perugin, Rubens, Caravaggio, Emile Friant and many others. Simply an outstanding museum located right on the Place Stanislas. Not to be missed.

Really impressive museum with a lot of amazing pieces and an incredible vase collection. Was a lot of fun to visit. Prices were (as of July 2023) Free for students or till age 26. From 27 it costs 10 euros a person.
Justin ( — Google review
While the artworks themselves are exceptional and the architectural interior is impressive (plus there are many comfortable seats!), I found the exhibition flow a bit confusing. The sequence felt somewhat disjointed without a clearly suggested route to follow.
Yanhao L — Google review
Variety is the spice of life and so is this museum. For every style of art there is a painting or object in this museum. The art ranges from the European middle ages through to the modern era, with an Asian art section and a Jewish art section. What I found exciting is the layout of the floors. It isn't just square rooms with art on the walls... It has nooks and crannies that entice you to explore the whole building. This gives the visitor some unexpected suprises in discovering new, unexpected spaces and art. In the basement is an ancient wall that was found through archaeological digs, with a huge Daum, art nouveau glass and art deco glass vases up through until modern times. It was a pleasure for the eyes as the collection is colorful and quite extensive. Throughout the building there are some English translations about, art but it is limited. I would suggest using a Google Lens with translation feature if you aren't fluent in reading French. There is also a museum app that is used for an audiotour, but i didn't use it. Highly recommended if visiting Nancy.

An eclectic museum with paintings from grandmasters as well as French and other artists. Also decorative glasswork from Daum. And some contemporary exhibitions. Well worth visiting.

The Basilica of Saint Epvre in Nancy is a neo-Gothic church constructed in the 19th century, boasting vibrant stained glass windows and a choir pavement made from stones originating from the Appian Way. Endowed with riches by notable figures such as Napoleon III and Pope Pius, the basilica also houses a collection of paintings contributed by artists from various European countries.
Great Church Facade, appears to be undergoing restoration, could NOT enter. Beautiful Exterior, easy parking near by to pair with visit to the Nancy Basilica and Parc and Hotel de Ville

On 17 July, 2024, my wife and I came to check out the architecture. Although it was smaller than the cathedral we saw in Metz a day ago, it stood tall. As non-believers, we just captured the images and left.

The basilica is located in the heart of Nancy, nestled in the beautiful old town. Unfortunately, it was closed when we were there, so we couldn't see anything inside. But the surrounding area also invites you to linger, with its nice restaurants and cafés. We parked here and explored the city on foot. If we come to Nancy again, we would like to see the inside.

Looks beautiful from the outside, wasn't able to get in unfortunately (was there outside opening hours). You could have a drink on the opposite terrace and gaze at the details ;-)

Great Basilica at the heart of Nancy Vieille Ville. Walking distance from Place Stanislas, Place de la Carriere, Porte de la Craffe and Parc Pepiniere. Surrounded by cool bars and cafes. A must see in Nancy
Rami B — Google review
Small gem. Yes, it doesn’t compare to larger one at nearby Strasbourg. But the entire interior perimeter is covered with stained glass windows. The subjects are more medieval in setting rather than ancient biblical but that doesn’t make the windows any less amazing. Free entry, recommended to spend 1/2 hour here.

Nestled within a former palace, the Musée Lorrain is a treasure trove of Lorraine's rich art and history, showcasing an impressive collection that spans from prehistory to the 20th century. As you wander through its halls, you'll encounter captivating exhibits that chronicle the region's evolution, including stunning paintings and intricate tapestries from the 16th and 17th centuries.
This is also known as the Palace of the Dukes of Lorraine which is now the Museum of Lorraine. When I visited it was closed for major renovation until 2023! The only other part of this museum opens is the Church of the Cordeliers which is a tombs church, the burial site for the Lorraine family. It has collections of art history with an archeological collection in one of the buildings in the back of the courtyard. Pity that it was closed but the outside façades gave a glimpse of the stupendously magnificent architecture that was once the Dukes Palace of Lorraine.

The reopening is set for 2029, but the view outside is still lovely!

The Jean-Marie Pelt Botanical Garden, located in Villers-les-Nancy, France, is a sprawling 25-hectare oasis boasting an impressive collection of over 12,000 plant species from around the globe. This expansive garden features diverse attractions such as a rhododendron valley, an arboretum, and five tropical greenhouses showcasing exotic flora like orchids, water-lilies, coffee plants, banana trees, citrus trees, and various cacti species.
Great place to visit for free. Even with the closure of the indoor gardens for lunch, there is enough to see on the outdoor to pass the time untill it reopens.

Very nice, highly recommend. The greenhouses are free for under 26
Benjamin B — Google review
Good facilities: free chilled water and free, clean public toilets. Admission to the park is free, entry to the greenhouse is 6.10€ for an adult at the time of writing this review. I didn’t visit the greenhouse, it was in the middle of a heatwave in summer so we just chilled on the benches. Nice little former chapel now used as an exhibition space, with cute garden.

Fabulous place!!! Visited whilst on holiday passing through, the lady behind the dest was very friendly and helpful, gave us a map and a guide to where to go and what to see. The greenhouse are a small charge but if you are a student or teacher you get in free! The rest of the gardens are free to look around, cute little gift shop aswell, only downside is the didn't have any stickers for my collection of places visited! But overall a fabulous place and would definitely recommend!!

A must-visit in Nancy. We didn’t go at the greatest time for the outdoor section. I’d imagine it’s a lot more colorful at other times of the year. It was still stunning though. A very impressively large facility with a ton of variety. Be prepared for walking, sometimes up steeper hills. Plenty of places to stop and take in the views. The greenhouses were the highlight for us. Definitely worth paying the few euros to take a look. Lots of cool, exotic plants to learn about.

Brasserie L'Excelsior is a refined dining establishment located in a century-old art nouveau building. The restaurant offers a unique ambiance, distinct from other dining venues, and is housed in the former Hotel d'Angleterre, which has withstood wars and urban developments. Designed by architects Lucien Weissenburger and Alexandre Mienville, the brasserie features lavish interiors characterized by Art Nouveau curves and motifs.
Ideally located with well maintained distinguished decor. The staff are nice and polite. Typical continental breakfast with fresh bread, pressed orange juice and hot drink. We tried that large plate with a variety of cheeses before going home. This was our preferred breakfast place for the duration of our stay.
G. S — Google review
Had dinner at Brasserie L'Excelsior in Nancy, and the Art Nouveau interior is absolutely stunning. The ornate ceilings, stained glass, and the central tree installation create a unique and memorable atmosphere. I ordered the Choucroute Strasbourgeoise as my main dish. It was not bad at all, featuring a generous portion of sauerkraut and assorted meats. However, it didn't particularly stand out in terms of flavor or presentation. For dessert, I had the Tout Nancy, a local specialty parfait with bergamot and mirabelle. It was pleasant and light, offering a nice regional touch to end the meal. The service was totally fine, with staff being attentive and courteous throughout the evening.
Stefano P — Google review
I almost never make reviews so this one is for the skeptical readers—There’s so much mixed comments about this place that I can’t even begin. I decided to visit and thank God I did—we had a wonderful time. Yes, the food indeed took some time but nothing absurd or unusual. Dishes were delicious. We had oysters, the duck and the steak. Everything great. Desserts, ugh. 🤤 The profiteroles + crepe were so, so good. The place itself is beautiful and we had a lovely waitress who made us feel welcome.
Lais O — Google review
Nestled in the heart of the city, it is a stunning tribute to the Art Deco style of the 1910s, seamlessly blending elegance with a nostalgic charm with intricate geometric patterns, rich colors, and stylish furnishings that evoke an era of sophistication. The menu features a selection of classic French dishes Soupe à l'Oignon and Steak Tartare. The food is acceptable but not as impressive as its deco.
Taa S — Google review
We had a late breakfast with pastries, coffee and hot chocolate stopping off on the self guided Art Nouveau walking tour. Server was patient with our basic understanding of French.
Pauline M — Google review
It’s like time slipping into the Art Nouveau era. Perfect place for a date but a little noisy. Going there early was a good idea o avoid the massive crowd. Food was nice. Choucroute was lovely. The cabbage was perfect, a little on the soft side though.
Eiko N — Google review
Highly recommend, definitely worth making a reservation. Food is not too fancy, traditional and fairly priced. Ambiance is amazing, staff is great.
Roan K — Google review
I was about to order two dishes when the waiter stopped me, he was right. I was full after having the Lorraine quiche and the crème brûlée. The brûlée was five times larger than ones I eat in Japan and had a great bergamot scent. I think you can access to delicious dishes at a reasonable price. I went in around 6pm without a reservation, but if you can, I recommend making a reservation in advance. Even if you don't speak French, you can feel at ease.

A must to do with children, I visited the aquarium with my 4 year old daughter. Adults are €6 and children are free. We started on the 1st floor and the natural history museum. It was very clean and tidy and had a good selection of taxidermy animals. Also, dinosaur skeletons hanging from the ceiling. There is a temporary exhibition on the lifecycle of death, complex subject, but my daughter did view the exhibits. Moving downstairs to the acquarium, there is a good mixture of specimens of fish, aquatic fauna, and flora. Nice wooden steps so children can see into each of the tanks. We spent about an hour here. There is a nice garden at the back of the museum with seating. They have a break from 12-2 p.m

A small yet quite varied museum-aquarium. A fun experience for an hour or two. English was available everywhere. The quality of the taxidermy in the museum section was hilariously subpar for some animals, particularly the felidae looked strange.

Great food, although the fries were more like left over fries than fresh. It was over crispy. Quality of the potato was great and the burger was great. The chairs are terrible and not comfortable to sit on. The outside seating is uncomfortable because the street has a high gradient. Staff can be trained better on customer service. Nestled at the entrance of Place Stanislas in Nancy, France, the Arc Héré is a stunning triumphal arch that dates back to 1755. Designed by architect Emmanuel Here de Corny during the reign of Stanislas Leszczynski, this architectural marvel pays homage to King Louis XV. The arch features intricate allegorical imagery and classical sculptures representing themes of war and peace, including figures like Ceres, Minerva, Hercules, and Mars.

On 17 July, 2024, my wife and I walked past through it. The Arc was smaller than what we had seen elsewhere before. Even so, it was nice to know Nancy has an Arc as well.
Peter C — Google review
Does this arch look like the Arch of Septimius Severus in Rome? This arch was made around 1750 was inspired by the arch of Rome. The Arc displays the might of Louis XV with an inscription stating: ""terror of the enemies, maker of treaties, and the glory and love of his people". It contains deities like Ceres, Minerva, Hercules, Pax, Fama, Mars and Apollo. Apollo, the sun god, is of course a reference to Louis. In 1983 was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it is definitely worth a visit to enjoy the craftsmanship of the ornate features. Did the Duke of Lorraine, the banished Polish King Stanisława, made this arch to boost the ego of Louis XV and stay in posive favour after he made the beautiful Place Stanisława?

It was an unusual church for me because it was a museum/necropolis. There was a lot of cool old nobility’s tombs from the region, The Dukes of Lorraine. I also loved the main stain glass which shines beautiful orange/red/blue colors. The cupola is absolutely beautiful.

Interesting church-made-into-museum space
Elizaveta K — Google review
This is one mighty place to visit as it's a tour-de-force of both architectural design, historical significance and a royal tomb and cenotaphs of all the dukes of Lorraine, ancestors of the Habsburg-Lorraine family except for François Etienne de Lorraine (was Emperor of the Holy Empire) who is buried in the Habsburg necropolis in Vienna, Austria. Right next door to the palace of the Dukes of Lorraine, with its chapel of the former convent contains the royal tombs. The exterior is sober in design of Gothic and Renaissance style and inside is made up of one long nave with collateral chapels housing several funeral urns of certain dukes of Lorraine. There's so much to explore here, from the ceiling frescoes to the altarpiece, and most impressive of all for me is the Notre Dame de Lorette chapel which is the funeral chapel of the Dukes of Lorraine. It's free to enter, as part of the Musée Lorraine inside Palais des Ducs de Lorraine. This is a must visit museum inside a historic church that forever ties with the Habsburg-Lorraine dynasty. On a trivial note, it was temporarily used as a parish church when the Basilica of Saint Epvre was almost in ruin. Also, Otto of Habsburg-Lorraine married Regina of Saxe-Meiningen in the Chapel of the Cordeliers in 1951 and returned in 2001 to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary in the same chapel. Suitable for all ages. It's wheelchair friendly and kids should most certainly be encouraged to visit (accompanied of course). I don't think there's a public convenience inside.

Every time I come to Nancy I have to bring the original Macarons with me. It’s an establishment with history behind it and the quality offered is still well kept. The Macarons have a sweet taste of almonds, they are crispy outside and chewy inside. They are sold in boxes of 12 for 11€ and last long. The staff was nice and quick.

A small shop with lots of traditional and local specialties - sweets, drinks, chocolates. It is relatively pricey, but the products are good. The customer service was not very good though. Like many commercial centers it lacks of places to sit down for a while. It would even be beneficial for the business since one could stay longer being able to test without having to pay for it at a cafe

Worst commercial centre ever. First time in my life I paid for parking and toilet (where even napkins were missing) in a shopping mall. People come here to spend a money and they add extra for these basic services.

Saint Sebastien shopping centre in Nancy is one impressive Commercial Palazzo. It's inside Saint Sebastien Square with Église Saint Sebastien in the main frame. This is one unbelievable collections of shops, from fashion to games, gifts, health and beauty, recreation to grocery shopping. It's right in the centre of this glorious historic old city of Nancy. Accessible by foot or public transport and there's also parking station in the centre or nearby. It's also surrounded by the indoor Central market. It's not too far from Nancy railway station and Place Charles III isn't too far from here. Glorious shopping inside a beautifully square. A great place to explore.

Gorgeous building and atmosphere, high quality productions of fantastic operas, many of which are not part of the never-changing canon of operas you've heard a hundred times. So there'll be always something new to discover! The musicians are usually top notch (that's coming from a professional classical musician), and the tickets range from expensive to so inexpensive, they might as well be free.

Beautiful and historical church in the center of Nancy
Nikki A — Google review
This Catholic parish church in Nancy is one of the most attractive I've seen. It's in a beautiful square with very distinctive baroque inspired façades. It was built towards the end of the 1500s and dedicated to Saint Sebastien. Most impressive are the four panels on the front façades with two framing the door represent Jesus and the Virgin Mary, the other two at the end represent Saint Nicolas and Saint Charles. The statues of Saint Sebastien and Duke Leopold are on the second level, on the right and left respectively. What really impressed me about the interior are the vaulted ceilings and the spectacular liturgical choir with decorations depicting four scenes of the martyrdom of Saint Sebastien. Absolutely worth visiting and despite being inside a very commercialized center, it's a welcoming place to visit, explore, meditate, and it's open every day, including weekends, for all to visit.

Nestled opposite L'Excelsior, Au Duché de Lorraine Biscuiterie Confiserie Chocolaterie Lefèvre Lemoine has been a cherished culinary gem in Nancy since 1840. This enchanting boutique is not just a shop; it’s a delightful museum of Lorraine's sweet heritage.
Fantastic choice and still family owned. Lovely people and great products. The red tins are the same that were used in the film "Amely" - nice little souvenir. They also do a day where you can visit the original building and talk to the family about the history of the shop and sweet making - check for the Journées du patrimoine 👍

(Translated by Google) - A live larva was found in the Duchesses! - The products are excessively sweet (the Visitantines, chocolates with mirabelle liqueur, etc.). - The Nancy macarons are acceptable. - Some of the packaging is unprofessional: a freezer bag taped shut, macarons sticking to the paper, etc. - The labeling is minimal, only meeting the legal minimum. A production date or expiration date would be helpful given the questionable freshness. - Unfriendly staff. The shop is dark. - High prices for mediocre quality. Conclusion: A shop that doesn't do justice to the specialties of Nancy. Very nice B&B close to the center of Nancy. Friendly courteous and super helpful host. Everything is very clean. In the morning Yannick (host) surprised us with a yummy breakfast
Andreas S — Google review
Well located, extremely clean and with a truly excellent breakfast, this is an great example of a well managed Bed and Breakfast. The only minus is sharing a bathroom, although I know this is common with B&B accommodation. Having said that, perhaps I need to look at more B&Bs for accommodation because the overall experience was far superior to many well rated hotels. Yannick could not have done more to assist.
Dirk W — Google review
An excellent stay. The property is conveniently close to the station without the station being a noise nuisance. Yannick was an attentive and welcoming host, ready to share information about visiting his city. The room was clean, comfortable and well-supplied. There was access to a kitchen where a good breakfast was also served. The shared bathroom was only a small inconvenience.
Eileen H — Google review
Yannick is really kind and friendly . It was really comforting to stay at his place. The room is just next to Nancy Train station and the downtown is 5-10 min by walking. The rooms are clean and you have some extra facilities like tv and coffee machine. The breakfast was really good and on-time. I really recommend people who want to visit Nancy to stay at Yannick’s place.
Ali B — Google review
All 5 stars for this place. Yannick, the host, showed us great hospitality. The place itself is clean, easy going and modern. The place is very central placed, all shops and restaurants are 2-5minutes walk from the appartment. Breakfast was every morning diverse and delicious. The room size is decent and there is enough place to store your stuff. There is also complimentary water, snacks and sweets in the room. Even though the bathroom is shared, it didn't seem like a nuisance regardless that other guests were also in the appartment. The parking space was not so practical, but manageable.
Sara R — Google review
The name of the place does not lie - you are in the very heart of Nancy and can walk to all the highlights of the city. The room was very clean and well equipped - it even had all the streaming platforms open and available! The building itself is super interesting as it is a great example of French modernism of 60s. Last but not the least, the main highlight is the host - extremely nice, helpful and preparing amazing breakfast. Look no further for a perfect stay in Nancy.

Super nice place to stay in Nancy. The room and the bed are confortable. You have boiler water in the room and the coffee machine. The house is very new and everything is super clean. I very reasonable the place. And the host is amazing
Alessia P — Google review
It's hard to explain just how extraordinary, and yet unlikely, this place is. An office complex converted to a 3-room BnB, a 5-minute walk from the train station, fifteen minutes to the huge central park and Place Stanislaus, the amenities are state of the art. Bed perfect, lighting terrific, room painted a pleasing color that matches the linens, and is bright and inviting, including bed lighting for reading, little things like Kleenex boxes and tea, coffee, candy, TV, immaculate bathroom down the hall that 2 of the rooms share, extra everything from toothbrushes to whatever. All state of the art design, including a shower with a slightly tilted floor that lets the water run down under the faucets. A breakfast you'd pay a minimum of ten Euros for at other auberges, fresh bread and croissants, yoghurt, cereal, juice, coffee, tea, fruit, free with the price, which is also incredibly reasonable. And it's in a security building - an office building with a cafe downstairs and walking distance to anything you want to eat, including a covered food market and Excelsior, a 120 yr. old Brasserie in an Art Nouveau building. Which brings me to Yannick, who could not be nicer. It's his business, he built the place, he lives there, and goes above and beyond to make sure you're happy and getting everything you need. Brochures, maps, directions, all with a great demeanor. He's very communicative, sent me meticulous directions in advance. Really a jewel he's created.

I enjoyed the duck breast with the cream and mushroom sauce on the side and paired that with a local Pinot noir. The food did not disappoint. We recently visited this restaurant, and it was just okay. The atmosphere was nice, but the fondue didn’t impress—it lacked depth in flavor. The sausage platter was large but the meat quality was mediocre. The wine also didn’t pair well and was a bit flat. Overall, it wasn’t a bad experience, but it didn’t stand out. There are definitely better options for a fondue night.

We only spent one night in Nancy and we were pleased with this restaurant which provided a good selection of typical Lorraine food. Definitely a great place for kids given the entertaining presentation of dishes and the cute decor.

This is a great restaurant and we will definitely return. We have order a Tartiflette which was absolutely great. However, when we ordered the super Entrecote which was the most expensive dish in the restaurant, it was no way super, rather very basic...the quality of meat was very poor. I had so much expectation but the quality of the meat, which was not at all soft rather sinewy and chewy, made the experience very disappointing. Again, we will come back to try the Tartiflette and Fondu, which we feel are great. So do visit and eat and drink in this wonderful restaurant.

The Iron History Museum in Nancy is a must-visit for those interested in the history of mining and metallurgical installations. The museum features well-presented exhibits showcasing engines, presses, parts, and machines from the steel industry alongside old vehicles. There's also a dedicated area with activities for children on the ground floor. The first floor offers an intriguing section on the history of mining. Additionally, visitors can explore future exhibitions in closed rooms.
For a materials engineer as me this is an awesome place. Anyway, if you’re curious about the iron industry history and how Alsace and Lorraine got a so vital importance for the development of France, Germany, Luxembourg and neighborhood countries take a look at this place.

(Translated by Google) Quite a nice visit to the Nancy area, with three main parts: exhibition on video games with a very good idea of having us play several games with an avatar that we create at the start of the tour. Then, a manual part for children, with several games which are somewhat reminiscent of the city of science in Paris. And finally a very interesting permanent exhibition on iron which mixes several mediums: models, objects, machines, works and paintings. And above all with very good and clear explanations. There weren't really many people, and the staff was very friendly. The Porte Saint-Georges is a magnificent and impressive architectural structure that holds great historical significance. Nestled amidst surrounding buildings, this beautiful entranceway may appear slightly concealed. However, it exudes a timeless charm and grandeur, with its intricate stonework showcasing a multitude of stones that are truly captivating. This remarkable door is comparable to the one found within a room, emphasizing its undeniable presence.
(Translated by Google) The monumental façade of the Tuscan order (influenced by Jean-Baptiste Stabile) surmounted by a pediment surmounted by a statue of Saint George is a masterpiece by the sculptor Florent Drouin. On either side are allegorical statues by Jean Richier representing war and peace.  In the center of the composition, traces of the large coat of arms of Lorraine, which was mutilated, can be seen.  Statues of sphinxes are placed at the base of the pediment.  The counter-facade of this Renaissance building looks quite restrained. On the monument is the so-called equestrian statue of the knight Georges de Lydd, a masterpiece of the Lorraine artist Florent Drouin from 1608. This magnificent gate, built in the 18th century, is an example of the elegance of Baroque architecture, complemented by intricate details and majestic proportions. As one of the main entrances to the city, they are of historical significance and serve as a reminder of Nancy's rich cultural past.

The Sainte-Marie Park in Nancy is a landscaped green space that features a rock garden, gazebo, and an information center housed in a restored Alsatian house. To reach the Musee de l'Ecole de Nancy, it is recommended to take a bus unless one enjoys a 30-minute walk. Adjacent to the park, towards the southwest of the train station, lies the Art Nouveau Museum.

I grew up in Nancy and this is the park of my childhood, so I'm a little bit biased about it. Nonetheless, it is a great park, with beautiful trees. It is a very pleasant place at all times of the year, perfect in summer to gather with friends on the grass and chill, perfect for a running session, and ideal for kids with many trees to climb on and a little game area.
Santo H — Google review
Great park for summer strolls in the shade of the trees. Nice space and pedestrian runways. Some really interesting trees. My kids loves it in autumn to take strolls amongst the dead leaves!
Pierre S — Google review
I walked through this lovely park after visiting Musée de l'École de Nancy art nouveau museum in the Blandan district of Nancy. Close by here is the Nancy Thermal swimming pool complex (under renovations until 2022) and accessible via Rue Pasteur, avenue Boffrand, avenue du Maréchal Juin (the judicial area). Fascinating history that goes back to the 1600 when it was first settled by Jesuits and named it in dedication to the Virgin Mary. This park is second in size to the Pépinière park and it's frequented by the locals as there's a kids playground, tracks for joggers and walkers, basketball court, cycling tracks and a boules pitch. What fascinating here is the Alsatian house transplanted in the park from Zutzendorf, a village in Alsace, in its entirety. This half-timber house was part of the International Exhibition of Eastern France in 1909 and is used for exhibition room and is named the Green Space House. Suitable for all ages, even in winter when I visited. A beautiful urban green space.

During the Saint Nicolas festivities, the region reveres Saint Nicolas as its holy patron. Nancy becomes the center of attention from December 4th to 6th, with a strong focus on exploring the history of the area, its traditions, delicious local cuisine, and renowned Christmas market. Additionally, in autumn, visitors can enjoy their stay at Nemea - Appart Hotel Nancy Grand Coeur which offers a pleasant accommodation option for both business and leisure travelers.
Gorgeous Renaissance gate of Nancy, built around the seventeenth century. It used to close off the southern end of the old town of Nancy. This current visit the gate is closed for renovation but pedestrian can walk around it. The semi circular opening with a central opening allows pedestrian to walk through it. This is one of the most impressive Renaissance gates in Nancy. Absolutely a must visit monument. Best side is from the southern end of place des Vosages with the Arms of René II clearly displayed.

I would not recommend this bar, if you are a foreigner who speaks imperfect French or worse only English. The bar looks nice, the cocktail was okay, but nothing special. The service looked annoyed and her colleague had to remind her to accept the cash (there were almost no other guests), once I stood there for quite some time. Also no goodbye (yes we said it in French). Strange, that I never had issues in Luxembourg and Strasbourg.

Now they claim that we handed it in 3 days late and charged us an additional 250 while the people at avis in the Netherlands actually confirmed we handed it in on time. Of course people can make mistakes but it's been three weeks now and they hardly respond to our emails or to the info avis the Netherlands is sending them about the mistake. (Translated by Google) Saurupt is a neighborhood located in the south of the Nancy municipality, renowned for some of its École de Nancy style homes, a branch of Art Nouveau. The homes were built in the early 20th century[1], thanks to one of the city's first housing development projects, called "Parc de Saurupt" and located in the southwest part of the neighborhood. Saurupt is home to a university residence managed by the Crous (Cultural and Housing Council), and formerly the École des Mines (School of Mines). Saurupt is located in the south of the city of Nancy. It is traditionally bounded by Boulevard Georges-Clemenceau to the west, Avenue du Général-Leclerc to the north, and Quai de la Bataille to the east. To the south, Rue de Nabécor and Rue du Maréchal-Oudinot mark the border between the neighborhood and the municipality of Vandœuvre-lès-Nancy.
