Really loved it. A mix of French and Polish baroque. The place and the surrounding garden was really friendly. We saw a dancefloor in the middle of the gardens, behind a really nice cafe. All the locals young and old swinging to the music. Magical.

I visited Place Stanislas today and was completely charmed. The golden gates, elegant facades, and lively atmosphere made it feel like walking through a fairytale from the old times. It felt peaceful and inviting I took a break by the Neptune fountain, enjoying the breeze and the sound of water — such a calming moment in the middle of the city. This place isn’t just beautiful; it has soul. I’m truly grateful I got to experience it.

This is an extraordinarily magical place at night and a must-see during the day! Baroque styles Gates and decorations on the buildings make this one of my favorite spots in Nancy! Fun fact: this place, the place de la Carrière and the place d'Alliance are part of the World Heritage Site 💯

Absolutely stunning square and a true gem of Nancy. Place Stanislas is beautifully designed, with elegant 18th-century buildings and golden gates that shine in the sunlight. The atmosphere is lively during the day with cafés and people enjoying the space, and at night the light show on the buildings is magical. A perfect place to stroll, relax, or take photos. Located in the centre of Nancy next to Place Stanislas, the Pépinière park is a wonderful green place for families and couples. It has a rose garden, a mini zoo where peacocks freely wander around, a great playground, sports field, merry-go-round and children's rides. It also has a small cafe and ice cream stand. There are many floral displays, also wooden architecture exhibitions and beautiful paths with ancient and exotic trees for a stroll. Magnificent and calming place.!

Nancy is a beautiful French 🇫🇷 town in Lorraine gifted by Luis XV to the Polish King 1704–1709 i 1733–1736, Duke of Lorraine and Bar in the years 1738–1766, where Stanislaw Leszczyński resided to the end of his life.

A stunning example of Art Nouveau architecture and design—an absolute gem for anyone interested in the movement. The restored rooms are beautifully detailed, showcasing exquisite furniture and decorative elements that reflect the spirit of the era. That said, I left feeling underwhelmed. Only three rooms are accessible, and while they are lovely, they offer a limited sense of the house as a whole. I would have loved to learn more about the daily life of the Majorelle family, the full layout of the villa, and what lies behind the many closed doors—even a small plaque or visual hint would make a big difference. I also wish there had been more information about the architect and access to architectural plans or sketches to better understand the building’s original design. The little brochure notes that there will be more rooms in view after the final part of restoration planned for 2021-2022. Well, writing this review in 2025, I can attest to that not happening. The exhibition texts mention the family’s photo album several times, but unfortunately, one can only see a couple of photos. Knowing that the house was used as advertisement for Majorelle’s firm, I would love to see the commercial photographs, articles and catalogue entrees as well. Overall, it’s a beautiful site with great potential—but I left wishing for a deeper, more immersive experience.

We enjoyed our joint visit to this villa & the nearby School of Nancy museum. It's a bit cheaper to get the joint ticket. Down load the guided app as this gives lots more information. Stunning glass windows!

This is a review of a guided tour. It was instructive and logically designed, as we spent time talking about the consistency of design in each room, how the family used the rooms, and how the layout changed (e.g., the Moroccan influences after the bombing). The tour was very accommodating and I recommend it. I wouldn't have gotten as much information via a self-guided tour. The extra 3 euros for a tour are cheap. The caveat is that you must book tours in advance and there is at most one per day, as the guide doubles as guide with the nearby museum. Note that restoration work is ongoing so you can visit the first floor and only the master bedroom in the second floor at present. Very tiny gift shop, so consider buying at the museum instead or in complement.

Villa Majorelle is a beautiful example of Art Nouveau in Nancy. Designed by Henri Sauvage for Louis Majorelle in 1902, it has amazing details like stained glass, ironwork, and organic designs. It was both a home and a place to showcase Majorelle’s furniture. The interior is stunning, and the craftsmanship is impressive. If you like architecture or history, it’s definitely worth a visit! There is a maquet of the house on the terrace, explaining the structure and materials used for building. Also, the staff was lovely and helpful.

I literally said "wow" out loud at least twice., especially the fireplace in the dining room. Simply amazing to see full-blown Art Nouveau en place. More interesting to me than the Musee Ecole d'Nancy because of the total effect of the architecture, furnishings and decoration. Wish more were open and I would go back in a second. Highlight of the Nancy trip.

An amazing art nouveau collection of furniture, stained glass, and rooms with carved and curved panelling. Mosaic flooring. Exquisite carpentry skills in every room. The garden has another round building with an aquarium which looked amazing from the outside.

Excellent and highly specialized collection in local art nouveau. A bit amateurish in museum management so far, so it's not yet a broad international destination. Descriptions are bilingual at times, solely in French often -- international tourists struggled. The gift shop could have a lot more on art nouveau. Some of the descriptions are inside rooms that we can't walk into so it's hard to read. The staff was very publicly complaining about their jobs. I see it as having strong potential but needing a more professional management.

Nancy was an important city in the art nouveau movement in the late nineteenth century. The museum contains extensive glass, ceramic and furniture work by Emile Galle, a leader of this new art in Nancy. There are also works by Jacques Gruber and others. This is an amazing museum. Highly recommended.

Free for students when card is presented and, due to interventions in the house, the normal price is 5€. I really recommend for Art Nouveau lovers, it’s a well kept house fully furnished. It’s not a huge space so your visit might be quick. The garden is really beautiful in spring.

This place is amazing. My wife and I both loved it. The best museum in town.

This museum is a home dedicated to Art Nouveau and was the home of collector Eugene Corbin. It’s beautifully presented with very helpful staff. They have an amazing collection of works and it’s very inspiring. There was an on going work during our visit. This is not a wheelchair accessible museum. However, I think it is best to switch the entrance and exit points because all that inspiration has no outlet, just the streets. The visitors should go in that small side door, go through the collection and get inspired then come out to the garden (hopefully a cafe and a shop for souvenirs). I was disappointed there weren’t any souvenirs to buy. It would’ve been nice to have a fridge magnet, tote, tea towel a replica or an art nouveau inspired jewellery to bring back. Maybe a book or two as well. This and Villa Majorelle are within 10minutes walk, so I recommend visiting the Musee de L’ecole de Nancy in the morning then Villa Majorelle in the afternoon. You can buy combined ticket for both places for 9€

On 17 July, 2024, my wife and I came here. Coming from Hong Kong, we were very impressed to see the landscape architecture. Having waited for passers-by to walk or cycle past, we captured our sights.

This is a beautiful square located next to Place Stanislas. It consists of numerous World Heritage structures. The Arc Here, Merchants Exchange, Government Palace, the Beauvau-Craon Hotel, the Here Pavilion and others constructed from the 1500s. There is a semicircular colonnade decorated with the busts of Olympian gods. In the center there is an esplanade lined with lime trees and with fountains at each corner. There were races and tournaments along this road. This is an amazing area. You can now stop for a meal at Louis XV or a drink at LE 15 at the Government Palace.

Very animated in Christmas with christmas shops and cafés and a huge ferris wheel with a view on practically the whole city. A lot of events take place in it too throughout the year like the pride, music festivals, Nancy's book festival and others.

Beautiful square between the Arc Here and the Governant Palace. You always pass by here when walking the historic routes of Nancy.

A very nice place but I am surprised that it is World Heritage listed by UNESCO.

Christmas Market still open after 12/24!! The scale is pretty small,only around fives stalls. Contains some entertainment facilities suitable mainly for kids.

Note the hours of entry as the cathedral is open to visitors only at certain times. This is a very pretty cathedral and has a lot of light to be able to see the interior. Unfortunately right now (summer 2023) the cathedral is undergoing renovation so you have various aspects of a renovation blocking some parts of the structure. I’d say it’s still worth the visit if you are in Nancy at the right time.

Cathedrale Notre-Dame de l’annunciation Nancy was built in the 18th century in the baroque architectural style. It has not been maintained very well but is still worth visiting.

Big and magnificent Baroque style cathedral in Nancy. They broke ground in the 18th century and finished building it in the century. It is a national monument and the seat of the Bishop of Nancy and Toul. Sculptors and structure are very detailed. Location is excellent as it is in the center, right in front of several restaurants.

Nice building and good transport connection, close to city center

Notre-Dame-de-l'Annonciation Cathedral of Nancy or in simple English Nancy Cathedral. It is about 300 years old. Location is very convenient, very close to Place Stanislas. We visited on a Monday. It was quite and peaceful. We spent some time enjoying the ambiance and browsing the beauty of it's architecture, paintings and the details. It was a very pleasing experience.

Another Notre Dame, the ceiling is covered by fabric. Though, the impressive cupola is still visible. Pope John-Paul II was here in October 1988.

The best experience!, excellent service, great Bourgogne wines. This chief is a magician, an artist who knows the state of french food. And the best of all, they have true caipirinha drink (made with brazilian cachaça!)😋.

Nice place to hang out with many restaurants and bars around

Really cool to see in person. It looks like the entrance to a grand castle! The street of cafes and small shops just after the entrance was really nice, too. Nice small town vibes; busy but calm and quaint. You can walk through the entrance too, the interior isn't as grand but is also nice to see

There is a great special exhibit on the history of graffiti. There are also works by Yayoi Kusama which are also amazing. There are paintings by Perugin, Rubens, Caravaggio, Emile Friant and many others. Simply an outstanding museum located right on the Place Stanislas. Not to be missed.

Really impressive museum with a lot of amazing pieces and an incredible vase collection. Was a lot of fun to visit. Prices were (as of July 2023) Free for students or till age 26. From 27 it costs 10 euros a person.

While the artworks themselves are exceptional and the architectural interior is impressive (plus there are many comfortable seats!), I found the exhibition flow a bit confusing. The sequence felt somewhat disjointed without a clearly suggested route to follow.

Variety is the spice of life and so is this museum. For every style of art there is a painting or object in this museum. The art ranges from the European middle ages through to the modern era, with an Asian art section and a Jewish art section. What I found exciting is the layout of the floors. It isn't just square rooms with art on the walls... It has nooks and crannies that entice you to explore the whole building. This gives the visitor some unexpected suprises in discovering new, unexpected spaces and art. In the basement is an ancient wall that was found through archaeological digs, with a huge Daum, art nouveau glass and art deco glass vases up through until modern times. It was a pleasure for the eyes as the collection is colorful and quite extensive. Throughout the building there are some English translations about, art but it is limited. I would suggest using a Google Lens with translation feature if you aren't fluent in reading French. There is also a museum app that is used for an audiotour, but i didn't use it. Highly recommended if visiting Nancy.

An eclectic museum with paintings from grandmasters as well as French and other artists. Also decorative glasswork from Daum. And some contemporary exhibitions. Well worth visiting.

Interesting museum with lots of exhibits. It's bigger than it looks. We liked the Infinity Mirror room. The museum entry was free due to the heat wave conditions but it is good value at €10.

Vegetables inside of basilica? I will never understand to French people

The basilica is located in the heart of Nancy, nestled in the beautiful old town. Unfortunately, it was closed when we were there, so we couldn't see anything inside. But the surrounding area also invites you to linger, with its nice restaurants and cafés. We parked here and explored the city on foot. If we come to Nancy again, we would like to see the inside.

The Basilica of Saint Epvre in Nancy is a majestic church with stunning architecture. Inside, you'll find a peaceful atmosphere perfect for reflection and prayer. Its historical significance and intricate design make it a must-visit attraction in Nancy.

Looks beautiful from the outside, wasn't able to get in unfortunately (was there outside opening hours). You could have a drink on the opposite terrace and gaze at the details ;-)

Great Basilica at the heart of Nancy Vieille Ville. Walking distance from Place Stanislas, Place de la Carriere, Porte de la Craffe and Parc Pepiniere. Surrounded by cool bars and cafes. A must see in Nancy

Small gem. Yes, it doesn’t compare to larger one at nearby Strasbourg. But the entire interior perimeter is covered with stained glass windows. The subjects are more medieval in setting rather than ancient biblical but that doesn’t make the windows any less amazing. Free entry, recommended to spend 1/2 hour here.

The reopening is set for 2029, but the view outside is still lovely!

For the sake of god, please put out signs that show interested tourists that the museum is closed. And please adjust the opening hours here. It's a disgrace for any museum to let potential visitors not know that you are closed. I'm really disappointed.

Beautiful edifice but IT IS CLOSED INDEFINITELY FOR RESTORATION. I have updated the opening hours multiple times but for some reason they still reappear as if the place was open... Palace is NOT OPEN.

The museum was partly closed. However the refugee exhibition of the area was excellently made,the exhibits well displayed and the browse interesting.

Good facilities: free chilled water and free, clean public toilets. Admission to the park is free, entry to the greenhouse is 6.10€ for an adult at the time of writing this review. I didn’t visit the greenhouse, it was in the middle of a heatwave in summer so we just chilled on the benches. Nice little former chapel now used as an exhibition space, with cute garden.

Fabulous place!!! Visited whilst on holiday passing through, the lady behind the dest was very friendly and helpful, gave us a map and a guide to where to go and what to see. The greenhouse are a small charge but if you are a student or teacher you get in free! The rest of the gardens are free to look around, cute little gift shop aswell, only downside is the didn't have any stickers for my collection of places visited! But overall a fabulous place and would definitely recommend!!

A must-visit in Nancy. We didn’t go at the greatest time for the outdoor section. I’d imagine it’s a lot more colorful at other times of the year. It was still stunning though. A very impressively large facility with a ton of variety. Be prepared for walking, sometimes up steeper hills. Plenty of places to stop and take in the views. The greenhouses were the highlight for us. Definitely worth paying the few euros to take a look. Lots of cool, exotic plants to learn about.

Great place to visit with children. Enormous garden on a hill slope to explore, even an old chapel. Marvelous greenhouse with a small exhibition to explore when raining. Picknick is nowadays allowed.

This botanical garden is a great place to visit during Summer. I went to visit this when we visited Nancy. Entry fee is reasonable. Garden is well maintained. At least 2 hours is needed to cover all the designated areas of the botanical garden. The plants were well explained. I liked the place.

Had dinner at Brasserie L'Excelsior in Nancy, and the Art Nouveau interior is absolutely stunning. The ornate ceilings, stained glass, and the central tree installation create a unique and memorable atmosphere. I ordered the Choucroute Strasbourgeoise as my main dish. It was not bad at all, featuring a generous portion of sauerkraut and assorted meats. However, it didn't particularly stand out in terms of flavor or presentation. For dessert, I had the Tout Nancy, a local specialty parfait with bergamot and mirabelle. It was pleasant and light, offering a nice regional touch to end the meal. The service was totally fine, with staff being attentive and courteous throughout the evening.

I almost never make reviews so this one is for the skeptical readers—There’s so much mixed comments about this place that I can’t even begin. I decided to visit and thank God I did—we had a wonderful time. Yes, the food indeed took some time but nothing absurd or unusual. Dishes were delicious. We had oysters, the duck and the steak. Everything great. Desserts, ugh. 🤤 The profiteroles + crepe were so, so good. The place itself is beautiful and we had a lovely waitress who made us feel welcome.

We had a late breakfast with pastries, coffee and hot chocolate stopping off on the self guided Art Nouveau walking tour. Server was patient with our basic understanding of French.

It’s like time slipping into the Art Nouveau era. Perfect place for a date but a little noisy. Going there early was a good idea o avoid the massive crowd. Food was nice. Choucroute was lovely. The cabbage was perfect, a little on the soft side though.

I was about to order two dishes when the waiter stopped me, he was right. I was full after having the Lorraine quiche and the crème brûlée. The brûlée was five times larger than ones I eat in Japan and had a great bergamot scent. I think you can access to delicious dishes at a reasonable price. I went in around 6pm without a reservation, but if you can, I recommend making a reservation in advance. Even if you don't speak French, you can feel at ease.

A must to do with children, I visited the aquarium with my 4 year old daughter. Adults are €6 and children are free. We started on the 1st floor and the natural history museum. It was very clean and tidy and had a good selection of taxidermy animals. Also, dinosaur skeletons hanging from the ceiling. There is a temporary exhibition on the lifecycle of death, complex subject, but my daughter did view the exhibits. Moving downstairs to the acquarium, there is a good mixture of specimens of fish, aquatic fauna, and flora. Nice wooden steps so children can see into each of the tanks. We spent about an hour here. There is a nice garden at the back of the museum with seating. They have a break from 12-2 p.m

A small yet quite varied museum-aquarium. A fun experience for an hour or two. English was available everywhere. The quality of the taxidermy in the museum section was hilariously subpar for some animals, particularly the felidae looked strange.

What an amazing old city!!!! Clean and unique!

(Translated by Google) Beautiful old part of Nancy, several squares, churches, and a lovely park. When we were there, there was a literary market. (Original) Mooie oud gedeelte van Nancy, meerdere pleinen, kerken, mooi park. Toen wij er waren was er een literaire markt.

Great food, although the fries were more like left over fries than fresh. It was over crispy. Quality of the potato was great and the burger was great. The chairs are terrible and not comfortable to sit on. The outside seating is uncomfortable because the street has a high gradient. Staff can be trained better on customer service. The toilet seems to be temporary and needs serious work

Super great burger. The best in Nancy. The burgers are juicy, well garnished, fresh, tasty and most importantly big. The restaurant offer a wide range of meet burger and an option for chicken. (Also options to go vegetarian). They come with a homemade french fries side, salad and their special sauce. We came without reservation and you can sit outside or inside the restaurant. Staff friendly.

Great burger with REAL ad tasty meat cooked to the point, good french cheese on top (from umsterilised milk which you don't get often, it really adds to the taste), the fries are perfect. Also, the concept is kinda cool (the facebook-like-machine, the thursday rock-paper-scissors-free-coffee-game) and helped along with super nice and humorous staff.

So good! I think it was my 2nd time, my sister always recommended me to go there and so we went there together and it was so good 😍 The waitress is so nice and plenty of people waiting in line too so that's the proof 👍👍

On 17 July, 2024, my wife and I walked past through it. The Arc was smaller than what we had seen elsewhere before. Even so, it was nice to know Nancy has an Arc as well.

Does this arch look like the Arch of Septimius Severus in Rome? This arch was made around 1750 was inspired by the arch of Rome. The Arc displays the might of Louis XV with an inscription stating: ""terror of the enemies, maker of treaties, and the glory and love of his people". It contains deities like Ceres, Minerva, Hercules, Pax, Fama, Mars and Apollo. Apollo, the sun god, is of course a reference to Louis. In 1983 was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it is definitely worth a visit to enjoy the craftsmanship of the ornate features. Did the Duke of Lorraine, the banished Polish King Stanisława, made this arch to boost the ego of Louis XV and stay in posive favour after he made the beautiful Place Stanisława?

Interesting church-made-into-museum space

This is one mighty place to visit as it's a tour-de-force of both architectural design, historical significance and a royal tomb and cenotaphs of all the dukes of Lorraine, ancestors of the Habsburg-Lorraine family except for François Etienne de Lorraine (was Emperor of the Holy Empire) who is buried in the Habsburg necropolis in Vienna, Austria. Right next door to the palace of the Dukes of Lorraine, with its chapel of the former convent contains the royal tombs. The exterior is sober in design of Gothic and Renaissance style and inside is made up of one long nave with collateral chapels housing several funeral urns of certain dukes of Lorraine. There's so much to explore here, from the ceiling frescoes to the altarpiece, and most impressive of all for me is the Notre Dame de Lorette chapel which is the funeral chapel of the Dukes of Lorraine. It's free to enter, as part of the Musée Lorraine inside Palais des Ducs de Lorraine. This is a must visit museum inside a historic church that forever ties with the Habsburg-Lorraine dynasty. On a trivial note, it was temporarily used as a parish church when the Basilica of Saint Epvre was almost in ruin. This Catholic parish church in Nancy is one of the most attractive I've seen. It's in a beautiful square with very distinctive baroque inspired façades. It was built towards the end of the 1500s and dedicated to Saint Sebastien. Most impressive are the four panels on the front façades with two framing the door represent Jesus and the Virgin Mary, the other two at the end represent Saint Nicolas and Saint Charles. The statues of Saint Sebastien and Duke Leopold are on the second level, on the right and left respectively. Bed perfect, lighting terrific, room painted a pleasing color that matches the linens, and is bright and inviting, including bed lighting for reading, little things like Kleenex boxes and tea, coffee, candy, TV, immaculate bathroom down the hall that 2 of the rooms share, extra everything from toothbrushes to whatever. All state of the art design, including a shower with a slightly tilted floor that lets the water run down under the faucets.
