When visiting Guangzhou, make sure to include a visit to the iconic Canton Tower in your itinerary. This modern architectural marvel boasts stunning lines and lighting that make for a terrific sight. While in the area, take time to explore other nearby attractions such as the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall with its exquisite Lingnan styled sculpture decorations. For families, a day trip to Chimelong Safari Park is highly recommended.
Awesome experience to visit canton tower. Any new visitor at Guangzhou, I would recommend to visit here, not only this tower but you will get bunch of other attractions around this area, including cruise tour which is great experience to visit. Must visit site and unforgettable experience.

Canton Tower, Guangzhou, China, is now the second-tallest tower and the fourth-tallest freestanding structure in the world. Many cities have a skyscraper or a tower with observation deck, but Canton Tower outshines them all for its innovative adventures. There is a “bubble tram” at the 460 meter level, where you sit in a ferris wheel type cabin that goes around the top of the tower for 20 minutes. There is also a “sky drop” that’s similar to a vertical drop ride in an amusement park, only that it starts from 485m and drops to 455m.

The Canton Tower formally Guangzhou TV Astronomical and Sightseeing Tower is a 604-meter (1,982 ft)-tall multipurpose observation tower in the Haizhu District of Guangzhou. The tower was topped out in 2009 and it became operational on 29 September 2010 in time to 2010 Asian Games. The tower briefly held the title of tallest tower in the world, replacing the CN Tower, before being surpassed by the Tokyo Skytree. It was the tallest structure in China prior to the topping out of the Shanghai Tower on 3 August 2013, and is now the second-tallest tower and the fifth-tallest freestanding structure in the world.

Rude people seem to pícnic (food included) all over the panoramic windows, so you can´t actually enjoy the view. As many sight seeing spots in China, the large crowds along with the lack of education of many chinese, makes what should be an enjoyable visit, turn into a nightmare.

Guangzhou Opera House, also known as the "twofold stone," is a stunning architectural marvel designed by Zaha Hadid. This modern masterpiece, along with other cutting-edge structures like the Guangdong Museum and Canton TV Tower, showcases the city's commitment to innovative design. The opera house features a mesmerizing blend of glass, granite, and steel inspired by two rocks washed away by the Pearl River.
The Guangzhou Opera House presents a mesmerizing fusion of art and architecture, captivating visitors with its breathtaking design defined by a myriad of curves. Situated in the heart of Guangzhou, this iconic structure is a testament to modern architectural ingenuity and artistic vision. As you approach the opera house, you are immediately struck by its grandeur and unique form, seamlessly blending into the urban landscape while exuding a sense of grace and sophistication. Step inside this architectural marvel and immerse yourself in a world where music and design harmonize to create an unforgettable experience. A visit to the Guangzhou Opera House is a journey through the intersection of culture and creativity, leaving a lasting impression on all who are fortunate enough to witness its magnificence.

What a beautiful piece of statement by Hadid. The place is clean. The architectural structure is stunning. Well kept. Totally recommend it.
Dumb D — Google review
The Guangzhou Opera House is a fascinating example of contemporary architecture. At first glance, its bold concrete forms and exposed surfaces might suggest a touch of brutalism. But the comparison doesn’t quite hold. Brutalism is typically defined by its raw, blocky geometry and utilitarian ethos, whereas the Opera House leans into fluidity and organic design. Zaha Hadid’s vision here is unmistakably modern—almost futuristic. The twin-boulder concept, inspired by river erosion, gives the building a sculptural quality that feels more like nature imitating architecture than the other way around. The use of advanced materials and parametric design techniques places it firmly in the realm of neo-futurism, not mid-20th-century brutalism. So while there are echoes of brutalist aesthetics in the material choices and scale, the overall effect is far more dynamic and expressive. It’s a building that doesn’t just sit in the city—it interacts with it, both visually and symbolically.

It's an unique construction and great place to visit.

Located in Guangzhou, the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees is a significant Buddhist temple complex with a history dating back to 510. This ancient site features a main hall and an impressive flower-like pagoda housing relics. The temple is renowned for preserving cherished historical relics, including the iconic 57.6-meter tall Flower Pagoda and precious Sarira.
A beautiful old Buddhist temple/monastery. Beautiful architecture. Well kept and clean. A must when in Guangzhou. Easy to reach via cab and easy to get a cab from the temple too.

This is a lovely temple with huge breezy courtyard . I admire the tall pagoda inside. When I entered the compound, I felt a wave of serenity wash over me. After performing my prayers, I walked around the compound. There are many people sitting around and doing nothing but enjoying the peaceful vibes around them. The entrance to this temple is free and there is a clean, public restroom here as well.
Gevs — Google review
Since AD 537, it burned down & rebuilt during the Northern Song dynasty, when Su Shi composed a poem "Six Banyans" (Liu Rong) in honor of a visit to the temple & since renamed in honor of the famous poem. The Flower Pagoda, main structure of the temple, was built in 1097 & was named for its colorful exterior. The structure that had been there before had a square base, but the Flower Pagoda was designed with an octagonal one. It was rebuilt again in 1373 after another fire in the early Ming dynasty period and restored in 1900...

Beautiful temple. Calm, peaceful, quiet and not overcrowded even on a Sunday morning. No entry fee. Surrounding streets are full of old eateries and shops selling all kinds of clothes, shoes etc for bargain prices.

Visited the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees (Liurong Temple) and really enjoyed it! This Buddhist temple has such a long history, built in AD 537. The atmosphere is super tranquil and peaceful, a nice escape from the busy city. One of the highlights is definitely the massive bronze statue of Buddha, said to be the largest in Guangdong, weighing around 10 tons and dating back to the Qing dynasty. It’s incredibly impressive up close. Overall, it’s a beautiful, serene spot with a lot of history and calm energy — definitely worth a visit.
Sue W — Google review
Really lovely temple, enclosed and quite easy to pass by as it is nestled on a quiet side street far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Lovely temple, and a nice courtyard that is well laid out. Nice and peaceful - and a good place to spend an hour. A hidden gem that is very easy to miss

The temple is full of lotus. The main pagoda is the focus of the attraction. It demonstrates a solemn and sacred atmosphere with Buddha statues.

Established in 1894, the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall is a grand architectural complex that showcases remarkable artwork. Travelers interested in immersing themselves in the culture, history, and cuisine of this vibrant city typically spend 2-3 days exploring attractions such as the exquisite Lingnan-styled sculpture decorations at Chen Clan Ancestral Hall and the iconic Canton Tower with its impressive design and lighting. Families often allocate an additional day for a visit to Chimelong Safari Park.
If you're in Guangzhou, the Chen Clan Academy is definitely worth a visit. It's a beautifully preserved ancestral hall from the Qing Dynasty, and now it's home to the Guangdong Museum of Folk Arts. Built back in the late 1800s with donations from Chen family members all over Guangdong, the place is packed with history and culture. What really stands out is the classic Lingnan style architecture with super detailed carvings in wood and stone, plus pottery and traditional paintings everywhere you look. It’s honestly one of the most impressive traditional buildings in the area, and you can easily spend hours just admiring the craftsmanship and exploring all the unique artifacts. A must-see if you're into history, art, or just cool old buildings.
Sue W — Google review
The Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, also known as the Chen Family Academy, is located on Zhongshan Seventh Road, Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. Construction of the Chen Family Academy began in 1888 (the 14th year of the Guangxu Emperor's reign) and was completed in 1893 (the 19th year of the Guangxu Emperor's reign). It is one of the largest existing traditional Cantonese buildings and one of the largest, best-preserved, and most exquisitely decorated ancestral halls in China, hailed as a "pearl of Lingnan architectural art." The Chen Clan Ancestral Hall's architectural structure can be divided into three axes and three courtyards, comprising nine halls and six courtyards. The Chen Clan Ancestral Hall embodies the pinnacle of Lingnan architectural craftsmanship and decoration. Almost every hall, courtyard, corridor, pavilion, door, window, railing, wall, roof ridge, and beam showcases the superb skills of Lingnan architecture's "three carvings, two sculptures, one casting, and one painting," namely wood carving, brick carving, stone carving, pottery sculpture, plaster sculpture, bronze and iron casting, and painted murals. The Chen Clan Ancestral Hall is a representative of traditional Lingnan architecture and a concrete manifestation of ancestral hall culture within the Cantonese culture.
Wayne T — Google review
The Chen Clan Ancestral Hall in Guangzhou is a highly-rated cultural attraction, praised for its beautiful architecture, intricate carvings, and displays of folk art. Visitors appreciate its historical significance and the opportunity to learn about traditional Chinese art and culture. The hall, also known as the Chen Clan Academy, is easily accessible by metro and offers a peaceful and educational experience.
Vinai W — Google review
Besides being a 200-year-old heritage site, it also features a fascinating display of detailed craftsmanship. The entrance fee is 10 yuan, and there is a metro station right at the location.”
David T — Google review
A splendid witness to the glory days of the Chen clan in Chaozhou, this ancestral hall (陳家祠) is a labour of love that glows with pride in housing candidates preparing for the Imperial Examinations. Being a Chen of Teochew descent myself, despite being generations and thousands of miles removed, I simply had to take a peek. What started as mere curiosity grew into a historical and cultural adventure. From its intricate carving and moulding works, attention to detail and taste are on full display, complete with copious notes and context so that visitors are left without doubt about the achievements and contributions of this long line of Chens. Artistry, civility, discipline and ethics are demonstrated across a mind-boggling range of materials like porcelain, metals, brick, stone, wood, paints and lacquer work are fashioned into furniture, fittings, walls, gates, arches, roofs, stuccos abd and a variety of ornamental sculptures. Put aside 2-3 hours for this manmade wonder. While rather inconvenient for people with mobility issues, this hall is accessible by public transport and otherwise extremely walkable; walking shoes work best. It gets crowded, even on weekdays, and can be slightly uncomfortable on warmer, more humid days; so dress light.
Gregory C — Google review
Try to avoid weekends, alot of people, they may stop selling tickets. We went there on a Monday morning after buying tickets online. Very serene and feel more at ease as there is less crowd. Can engage a tour guide in the hall, this will take you 45 mins. All the written explanations are in Chinese. A beautiful place to enjoy the stone and wooden carvings.
Choon P — Google review
I love to visit old buildings and hear their stories, you can get audio guides or just download audio program here. The carvings are amazingly intricate and beautiful, lucky it was not too crowded to enjoy.

Guangzhou Sacred Heart Cathedral, located on the north bank of Pearl River in Yuexiu District, is a magnificent church and one of the world's four Gothic churches entirely constructed with stones. It boasts double steeples that resemble Notre Dame de Paris from the outside.
Free tourist place and very crowded. Grey blocks after grey block, more towards gothic feel. Didn't get to go in as they were having a service. Near to this church is One link, lots of toys n cute stuff n artwork to buy

Unfortunately we came here when there was an event and they didn’t allow us to enter so that was quite disappointing 💔 Managed to take some pictures outside and at the gate, though the security guard was extremely rude and kept yelling at everyone to leave. There’s a great dessert store nearby so be sure to check it out!

The Guangzhou Sacred Heart Cathedral, with its awe-inspiring architecture and serene ambiance, serves as a tranquil retreat in the vibrant city of Guangzhou. The cathedral's intricate Gothic detailing and towering spires beckon visitors to step back in time and embrace a moment of peace and reflection amidst the bustling cityscape. Stepping inside, the grandeur of the stained-glass windows and the hallowed halls instill a sense of reverence and awe, offering a spiritual haven for all who enter. Whether you seek solace, historical significance, or architectural marvel, the Guangzhou Sacred Heart Cathedral stands as a timeless gem that leaves a lasting impression on all who experience its grace and beauty.

Beautiful cathedral in the middle of Guangzhou, often called the “Stone House.” The architecture feels very European with its twin towers and stained-glass windows, and it really stands out from the modern city around it. Inside is peaceful, quiet, and a nice escape from the busy streets. Even if you’re not religious, it’s worth visiting just to admire the design and atmosphere. The area outside also has lots of small shops and food stalls, so it’s easy to spend a little extra time here. Definitely one of my favorite spots in the city!

Beautiful, clean park and full of different botanic species. There are several paths to follow and multiple places to rest, mediate or have a picnic, but not in the grass. We also visited the Guangzhou Museum at the high point of the park. It contains the most relevant history of Guangzhou as the main port for Southern China.

The Guangdong Museum, located in the heart of Guangzhou, is a striking modern structure that houses an extensive collection of Chinese paintings, ceramics, bronzes, and archaeological artifacts. It offers visitors a deep dive into the rich history, art, and culture of Guangdong Province. From ancient relics to contemporary artwork, the museum's exhibits provide insight into the region's past and its ongoing development.
My best friend and I had a great time visiting the museum in Guangzhou. It is free to enter, and you can register through the app. The lighting is very beautiful and the details are very detailed. The exhibition area and the design of the place are very cool. I am very impressed and recommend it.

Museum which showcases the history of Guangdong, in where you can see art, sculptures, artifacts, boats, architecture and much more. And while I was there they also had a special exhibition on Iranian culture and art. Free entry but you have to apply for the tickets in advance as it can get quite busy. Big museum with many floors - easy to explore and relaxing when taking in all the history and culture. Well spaced out I liked the pottery exhibition the best, found it quite interesting and beautiful to see some of the designs but if I am to be honest I found the museum, as a whole, a but underwhelming. Its good but not quite brilliant. A tad bit boring in places truth be told. Could have emphasized more of the characters and stories behind the history. There are other museums and galleries in Guangdong that I much preferred. Worth a look for sure, but it just didn't float my boat, as they say! (dinosaur and natural history part was closed on the day we were there - which was a pity)
Rob N — Google review
Spent about 3.5 hours here and it was totally worth it — entry is just 10 yuan! If you're a foreigner, make sure to bring your passport or ID to get in. The museum is pretty big, with everything from dinosaur fossils and Bronze Age artifacts to beautiful treasures from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Super easy to get to — just take the subway APM line to Huacheng Dadao Station, Exit B. It's on the same side as K11 Mall and right next to the Guangzhou Library.
Sue W — Google review
This megabuilding looks like rectangular box of bricks with black and red in colors. Be prepared with ID document(passport) for free entry at the west gate main entrance. There are 4 floors with some halls are closed to visitors; howver, it needs at least one hour for quick look up with things( inspired myself) . It’s unfortunate that gallery with Guangzhou natural wildlifes and land are under reconstruction. Nonetheless, its rotation exhibition at my visit is” kingdom of iran, land of sun “ , it’s spectacular. Outside, it’s panoramic view of modern urban architecture of Zhujiang new town.
Chajchawan N — Google review
The Guangdong Museum is a worthwhile and free stop in Guangzhou. It's a huge space with a fascinating collection spanning from ancient history to recent decades. The English audio guide is helpful, though limited. It would be great to see more English descriptions on the exhibits. Definitely worth the time!

I went here on my first day in Guangzhou. The museum is in a good location and the exterior looks very cool. Inside, you get to see the whole history of Guangzhou and the English speaking tour guide i had was very interesting and informative.

For anyone who likes ceramics, porcelains, the exhibition, "The Extremely Beautiful Colors of China: Glazes on Porcelain" is already well worth the visit. Featuring over 200 pieces of porcelain from the Guangdong Museum's collection. Entrance is free, ensure your passport is with you before going.
VL K — Google review
Another museum. If you a museum enthusiast, you might find this museum huge and a lot to check out? But if you a casual stroller? Meh!! 😑 The Guangdong Museum[2] (Chinese: 广东省博物馆) is a general museum of art, nature, culture and history in Guangzhou. It covers both local art and artifacts from the Guangdong province as well as general Chinese art. There are two separate buildings. The building which housed the original National Sun Yat-sen University became the Lu Xun Memorial Hall and contains an exhibition of objects related to Lu Xun and some other intellectuals who influenced Chinese modernization and indirectly prepared the way for the communist revolution. The newer building to the right was initially built in 1957–1959 and greatly enlarged in 1992. It contains several distinct exhibitions and has notices in English. In the historical exhibition of "Chaozhou wood carving", on display are screens and other objects elaborately carved in wood as well as an explanation of the history and different techniques used in the art.

Baiyun Mountain, situated in the northern part of Guangzhou, is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts. Renowned for its stunning natural landscapes and refreshing ambiance, it's often referred to as 'the most beautiful scene of Yangcheng' by locals. Visitors can revel in the breathtaking beauty of this mountain range and immerse themselves in the tranquility that nature provides.
You can walk up the mountain and there are several paths up . You will get to visit temples on the way up if you are walking . We decided to take the cable car up it’s around 10 mins, view was scenic . Once you reach the mid peak , you can take the local bus or walk 2 km up to the next point closer to the peak of mountain . The bus ride costs RMb 10 per pax . There is a fee to enter to view the view from the peak but this covers the escalator which will take you up to the peak. Once you get to the peak , You will be rewarded with beautiful view of the surrounding Guangzhou city .

Came here in December and the weather is sunny. A big park with beautiful flowers 💐 and you may take the cable car to the summit to enjoy the view of Guangzhou city. There are a few spots at the summit where you can explore by taking the shuttle buggy with minimal fare.

If you don't have all day or don't want to sweat a lot here's a tip: starting from the west gate, take 2 different buggy cars up to the peak.. then take another buggy to the south gate, or by the cable car Very nice place to have a picnic and strolling

A few ways of entering, we went from the north entrance and left by the south. Very interesting place to wander around and hike for a full day - lots of lovely trees, flowers and foliage, great views from the top of the city of Guangzhou, and also a chance to hike to Moxing Summit, the highest point in Guangzhou - and if you are tired by this stage - we were - can get an elevator back down the mountain! Plenty of chances to sit and relax and take it all in, or also to have some food and drinks as there are quite a few eateries and restaurants dotted all around. Well worth a visit - good exercise, good fun.

We visited Baiyun Mountain during our time in Guangzhou, and it turned out to be a wonderful escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. It’s about a 30-minute ride from the city center, and once you arrive, you’re greeted by clean air, lush greenery, and a calm that’s hard to find in urban areas. The mountain is sprawling with several entry points and hiking trails, suitable for both casual walkers and serious hikers. We took one of the electric shuttle buses up and enjoyed the scenic ride. Along the way, we spotted various gardens, small temples, and scenic pavilions. The view from the top, especially from Moxing Ridge, was stunning—offering a panoramic look at Guangzhou and the Pearl River. What stood out most was how relaxing the whole environment was. Families were out picnicking, people were practicing tai chi, and others were just soaking in the serenity. There were cafes and drink stalls at intervals too, which made it easy to take breaks. Overall, Baiyun Mountain is a great place to recharge, take in some nature, and enjoy peaceful surroundings just a short distance from the city. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in Guangzhou.

What are the main attractions within Huacheng Square? Key attractions include the Canton Tower, Guangzhou Opera House, Guangdong Museum, Guangzhou Library, and the Children's Palace, all surrounding the vast pedestrian plaza with its parks and ponds. Huacheng Square was established in 2010 in anticipation of the 2010 Asian Games, since then it has become a regular venue for special events and festivals including the Guangzhou International Light Festival held in November. Visited on May 10, 2025. Free to visit this area. Normally people visit at evening to chillout and enjoy night lights. This square is really big and can spend 1-2hrs just roaming and chilling out. It has Haixinsha Island to its south and Huangpu Avenue to its north. Guangzhou Opera House, Guangdong Museum and Guangzhou Library, Guangzhou Children’s Palace are also located around the square. On the surface the square, it is pedestrian area with parks, ponds, fountain and free of vehicle traffic. In the evening, this place becomes one of most visited places by locals and tourist both as the view of the Canton Tower and the tall buildings surrounding the square with all the colorful light decorations becomes very beautiful. In the underground, it has the Guangzhou APM lines with its four stations. Also located beneath is the Mall of the World shopping center, bus stations and metro stations.

One of the premier spots to see the Guangzhou tower. It looks great during the day but it looks even better at night when the changing lights completely light up the tower along with the surrounding buildings all having lights. Bad weather affects the view during the day but not so much at night. Must visit

The Pearl River Night Cruise Ticket Office offers a captivating experience for visitors who want to capture stunning views of the illuminated cityscape. Departing from Tianzi Wharf, this 70-minute cruise showcases the dazzling lights adorning the towering buildings, bridges, and landmarks along the more than 2,000-kilometer-long Pearl River. The serene waters make it easy to move around and take photos of this enchanting nighttime spectacle.
Highly recommended! Took my family on this and it was beautiful - a fabulous way to see the city lit up at night. We paid extra to sit outside and really enjoyed this cruise. TIP - Do make sure you have your passports with you as it seems you need them to book any tours in China, and the ticket office did not accept credit or debit cards so make sure you have cash or local apps like AliPay or WeChat Pay.

I took an evening river cruise when I was in Guangzhou recently and it was an amazing experience. I got my tickets at the counter located near the base of Canton Tower. The crew here was very helpful and polite and they spent time answering questions from tourists about the cruise itself. After getting the ticket, I was directed to the pier which is less than 10mins walk from the ticket counter. Despite the large crowd, the team at the pier was efficient and got all of us boarded quickly. Light refreshments was served onboard during the cruise. I sat at the top, open deck. The boat moved slowly to give us plenty of opportunity to take pictures of the night view and lights from both sides of the river. It was such an enjoyable experience and fun way to explore the city.

Took the cruise on the Pearl River, the 3rd largest river in China, from Tianzi wharf. As we set sailed at 8pm, we chose to sit at the open area. As we sailed along, we saw historical sites, unique architecture, Canton tower. The surrounding buildings and bridges were all lighted up. Very impressed by the LieDe Bridge. We took lots of photos and videos

You are a fool if you don’t take a night-time river cruise when in GZ. The light show from numerous buildings, bridges and boats is amazing!! The boat itself is a bit underwhelming but I don’t think any of the other choices are better. The boat is clean and the staff pleasant but the food options are limited and below average and the drinks are OK. is OK; drinks OK. A continuous loud commentary dominates the air. Really there is the potential here to have devices that you control to learn what you want (culture/history/ architecture …) in your preferred language or a chat with your friends or contemplative music. Cocktails and a much more interesting food list would really add to the experience. The different decks could be used more creatively - food floor; dimly lit floor to give the lights outside their full potential; even dancing on the stage could be an option. Kids friendly zone with a child minder or games; river/boat toys? Many possibilities.

During my visit to Guangzhou, I took a river cruise that was truly amazing. The sunset was breathtaking, painting the sky with vibrant colors. As night fell, the city came alive with dazzling lights reflecting on the water, showcasing Guangzhou’s beauty in a whole new light. Although we arrived a bit late and missed out on the dinner option, the cruise itself was unforgettable. If you’re ever in Guangzhou, I highly recommend this experience for its stunning views and the serene ambiance

Nice place to watch the night scene of Pearl River, tickets are not cheap, at rmb160 per adult (deck price) with tea and snack provided. Everyone need to run through security check before on board. Would recommend to standby jacket if you worry on cold wind, if you are not going to deck, then it is ok. It would be even more interesting if you have local to show or share with you the history / story of each building or area to make your trip more memorable.

The temple holds historical importance as it was where Huineng, the 6th Chinese patriarch of Chan Buddhism, gave his first public lecture and was ordained.
Guangxiao Temple in Guangzhou is an impressive cultural and spiritual site, with a entrance fee of RMB 5 per person. The temple attracts many local worshippers, who bring beautiful flowers. I came by here after leaving the Temple Of Six Banyan Trees as it is within walking distance for me. This is a very popular temple and it is full of visitors and devotees. Everyone brought flowers for their prayers. The grounds are huge and each building is well spaced with large trees casting nice shades everywhere. I explored and offered my prayers in many of them. Although there is a huge crowded, there wasn't much noise as everyone was carrying on in respectful tones.

This place is absolutely worth the extra effort to get to. First of all, it appears less crowded than other similar places. Second, it offers a free audio guide in English, allowing you to understand what you’re seeing. Lastly, this place is alive—people come here to worship, so please be respectful.

A bigger temple than Temple of the six banyan trees. Very airy and tranquil. Paid 5 or 10 yuan for the entrance fee. A temple where the locals come. Baomo Garden, located along the Zini River, is a historic garden featuring traditional 19th-century Lingnan architecture and various art forms such as clay, porcelain, wood, and stone carvings. The garden is known for its popular water features filled with mesmerizing koi carp swimming in clear pools.
What a stunning place with so much history. Lots of mini museums for you to explore and learn about the culture. Plenty of ponds with fishes to feed. You can buy a whole bag for just 8 yuan (just DON’T buy from the peddlers at the entrance. They will bombard you with “deals”). Get the food from the shop after you enter. It’s a tourist trap with unknown prices so choose what you truly want to do. Riding the boats is also unknown prices. We rode the automatic swan motor boat. 30 minutes for 78 yuan. It was sweet for the family to spend together but completely unnecessary as the pond is tiny. Instead enjoy the walk around the garden and take lots of photos. Soak it all in! And don’t spend a dime :)

Is totally free, just need to show your passport to the security to enter. Is good to have a whisper ($30rmb)to explain the different areas but is all in Mandarin. They do have explanation written in English too.I am amazed to know how smart the ancient people (2000 yrs ago) in planning the water drainage system. Is an eye opener as I walked through the excavation.

Hmmm… go if you have time in GZ. Whilst it’s a nice museum, it’s still under renovation & the lack of signages in this museum makes walking around confusing - there are multi buildings to walk around & no proper signages. Must visit whilst in Guangzhou. You will be surprised that Guangzhou has a 2000 year old archaeological site right in the middle of the city. Besides the actual burial tomb you get to learn about the Southern Yue kingdom (2000Bc) which lasted to the middle Han dynasty. There are separate rooms for artifacts arranged by theme such as burial funery including human sacrifices, war implements, lots of jade, crafts of all kinds. There is even a temporary exhibition on ‘pillows’ through the Chinese ages - very interesting and beautiful. A little bit of outdoor walking. The whole place is air conditioned. Tips - 1 take line 2 (blue) to Yuexiu park, exit E and turn right and walk 100 m. - 2 bring your passport. 65 and above is free - 3 Download Google translate. There are no English headsets and limited English plaques. Lots of good and detailed explanations in Mandarin. - 4 come at opening time as it is very popular with locals. - 5 Expect to spend at least 60 mins and there are no food or drinks

Great historical site to visit while in guangdong. The place showcased the history of guangdong and showed why the city was named the city of wells in the past. Insightful and educational. All the exhibits’ explanation was in Chinese and i thought that’s not really tourists friendly. But I saw some Caucasians using the headsets for the explanation. I believed if you cannot understand Chinese, headsets with prerecorded commentary are available. Quite a big area and apparently, the entire place is still work-in-progress. Entry is free just that foreigners will need to register at the counter with their passports. One can spend about 2-3 hours at this tourist spot depending on how detailed you want to see and understand. Will recommend this site for history enthusiasts.

The Chen Clan Academy, originally a study hall for young men preparing for imperial examinations, now houses the Guangdong Folk Arts Museum. With 19 buildings and various exhibitions, visitors should plan to spend at least an hour exploring. The museum showcases traditional Chinese folk art including pottery, carvings, and porcelain statues. While it's possible to visit without a guide, having one can provide valuable insights into the displayed artifacts.
Interesting insight into different forms of traditional Chinese folk art. Price was 10 yuan for adults and 5 yuan for students. The Chen clan academy is now known as the folk art museum. It displays various forms of pottery, carvings, and statues made of porcelain. Nice play to visit in the metropolis that is modern day Guangzhou

Onelink International Plaza is a massive wholesale mall in Guangzhou, offering a wide range of products including housewares, accessories, jewelry, and souvenirs. Unlike traditional retail stores, this plaza operates without fixed prices, allowing buyers to negotiate for better deals when purchasing items in bulk. The lower floors feature an array of gifts and premiums, toys, arts and crafts, technical gadgets and accessories, as well as souvenir items.
🌟 Onelink International Plaza, Guangzhou — A Shopper’s Paradise! 🛍️✨ If you love variety and great deals, Onelink International Plaza is a must-visit when you’re in Guangzhou! This massive wholesale and retail market is a treasure trove for gifts, toys, home decor, stationery, accessories, and quirky finds — all under one roof. 👉 What I loved: ✅ Endless options — from cute souvenirs to trendy homeware. ✅ Bargain prices — especially if you buy in bulk. ✅ Easy to spend hours exploring floor after floor of hidden gems. 💡 Tip: Go early, wear comfy shoes, and be ready to negotiate for the best deals. Many shops prefer cash, so carry enough RMB! 📍 Location: Conveniently located near Haizhu Square, right by the river — you can combine it with other nearby markets for a full day of shopping fun. Verdict: Highly recommended for resellers, small business owners, or anyone who loves hunting for unique stuff at great prices!

Lots of cheap and usefull items for hand gifts and merchandises....good to practice your bargaining skills. The downside is that (if you are foreigners) chinese language would be an advantage...though small number of merchants do speak little english...

The prices were fair, although I expected them to be a bit better. The place has almost everything for everyone — electronics, home items, kitchenware, gifts, stationery, bags, and much more. It’s a great spot to pick up gifts, and the food court is a nice addition. Since the store has multiple floors, you’ll need to set aside some time to shop properly. Overall, a good place with a wide variety of options.

My favourite household shopping mall OneLink 万菱广场! I absolutely love browsing all the teapots and accessories couldn’t resist and ended up bringing one home! 🫖 my Aunt went all out too, buying loads of household items. I visited the store mentioned in this image for electronics and they turned out to be super violent. They first tried to convince me to guy the product and later made me wait there while more customers came in and went. These two men who belong to the store later closed the shutter on my head and also tried to snatch my phone while I was waiting for another person at their store while they were delaying me. Once u was about to buy the product they said the product is not in stock and they don’t have even after confirming earlier that they have the stock of goods. The store is on 1st floor and number is A11. Highly recommend to not interact with them especially international shoppers. They sell electronic goods and will tell you they have the stuff and make you wait and then later tell you they don’t and will offer display items.

Lovely place for a relaxing work whike filling your eyes with the wonderful xolours in nature. Take a walk up into the hill, going through the stairs on your left and you are immediately enveloped by natural forest. There are well thought out rest stops along the way where you can stop to catch tour breath and now listen to the coice of nature - the birds. Yongqingfang, located in the old Xiguan area of Guangzhou, beautifully blends vintage charm with modern commercial artistry. The traditional Xiguan-style houses lining the streets exude an old-world appeal while housing trendy boutiques, art galleries, craft shops, and coffee joints. This historic quarter was once renowned for hosting Cantonese Opera performers at its Grand Theatre (now Jinsheng Cinema).

I have visited this area a few times and every time I experience something new and something exciting - Bruce Lee's family home is near, also the Opera Museum is close, and along the winding canal and amongst the side streets you can see a lot of street art and hip shops, cafes and the odd bar selling craft beers. A real cool and relaxed vibe going on here.

Yongqingfang is such a fun and vibrant place to explore! The street perfectly blends traditional Lingnan architecture with a modern vibe. You’ll find everything from trendy stores to cozy cafes and great restaurants. The highlight for me was the bridge at night. When it lights up, the reflections in the water look like a glowing crescent moon hanging over the canal. It’s super romantic and perfect for photos. You’ll also see lots of people dressed in traditional Chinese outfits, which really adds to the charm and atmosphere. Definitely my favorite place in Guangzhou!

The tower offers breathtaking views over the Pearl River and Tianhe's skyscrapers from its observation deck, which can be reached by a lift for an admission fee.
Very interesting observation tower .fantastic view of the city the rivers and all the surrounding. I can recommend to use the bubble ride. It takes about 10min for one round.

visited Canton Tower in early October, and the heat was absolutely brutal (felt like 34^{\circ}C-36^{\circ}C!). Despite the weather, the building itself is magnificent and truly awe-inspiring both day and night. If you have to choose, definitely visit after 7 PM when the tower's colorful, changing lights turn on. The light show is incredibly beautiful. This landmark symbolizes Guangzhou perfectly. Fortunately, there are plenty of spots around the base to sit down and just take in the dazzling view of this architectural marvel. Highly recommended!

The Canton Tower in Guangzhou is seriously next-level! 🚀 Towering over 600 meters into the sky, it’s not just one of the tallest towers on the planet—it's an absolute icon of the city, and the views from up top are totally jaw-dropping. I kicked off my adventure on the observation deck and, wow, the 360° panorama of Guangzhou is insane! The best part? Watching the cityscape and sparkling Pearl River as the sun dips below the skyline. Come sunset, those city lights hit different. The tower’s super sleek, modern design was giving major futuristic vibes, especially as I wandered around at the top. Night cruises on the Pearl River are also amaaazing—the bridges light up and turn the whole city into a glowing spectacle ✨. The LED light show on Canton Tower itself is, literally, a must-see (seriously, your pics will pop off on social media!). Highlights: • Epic 360° views from the observation deck • Adrenaline-pumping skywalk and glass floor (go on, test your nerve!) • Stunning LED light show every evening • Basically unlimited insta-worthy selfie spots Travel Hacks: • Time your visit for sunset—the city is pure magic then 🌆 • Snag your tickets online via trip.com to dodge those long lines • Definitely bring your camera or get your phone charged; every angle is a flex Need-to-Know Info: • Address: No.222 West Yuejiang Road, Zhuhai District, Guangzhou, China • Admission: ¥135.0 • Summer Hours (Jul 5–Aug 24): Mon-Fri 09:30–22:30 (last entry 22:00); Sat-Sun 09:00–22:30 (last entry 22:00) • Fall-Winter Hours (Aug 25–Dec 31): 09:30–22:30 (last entry 22:00) Bottom line: If you’re hitting up Guangzhou, do NOT skip Canton Tower. Whether you go by day for those clear skyline shots, or at night for the dazzling lights, this place is pure epic—unforgettable vibes guaranteed!

I visited Canton Tower for the second time on 14 April 2025, and it was just as breathtaking as my first visit back in November 2023. This landmark is truly one of the most iconic and beautiful places in Guangzhou, China-a must-visit spot for tourists and photography lovers. The tower offers incredible views of the city, especially in the evening when the lights come on. The vibrant atmosphere around the tower, with the Pearl River flowing nearby, adds even more charm to the experience. Whether you’re going up to the observation deck or just enjoying the scenic surroundings, it’s always worth the trip. I captured some amazing photos during my visit-the design, lighting, and skyline views are simply unforgettable. Canton Tower remains one of my favorite places in Guangzhou, and I highly recommend visiting it more than once if you get the chance. A perfect blend of architecture, technology, and culture-truly a symbol of modern China.

I believe they spoke in Cantonese. So google translator is a need. Oh ya, you can use Google translator as well to take a picture of the product. It will translate them words... although you need to have VPN to use it. Best time to visit is definitely at night. Because you want to see the roads that emperor and ancient Chinese pedestrian used to walk on in the past. Taking pictures during the day might or might not be a good idea due to the light reflection. If you explore a bit further down, you'll come across a large Buddhist temple.. they're magnificent to look at.. once again at night. Historically, the tower is a testament to Guangzhou's rapid urban and economic transformation over the past two decades. Fun fact: the building houses offices, a hotel, and a rooftop observation deck offering panoramic views of the Pearl River and Canton Tower, blending business with leisure in the heart of the city. The tower’s surroundings are equally vibrant, featuring luxury shopping, cultural sites like the Guangzhou Opera House, and a lively urban landscape that embodies China’s embrace of cutting-edge architecture and global influence.

Guangzhou International Finance Center Guangzhou International Finance Centre or Guangzhou West Tower, is a 103-storey, 438.6 m (1,439 ft) skyscraper at Zhujiang Avenue West in the Tianhe District of Guangzhou, Guangdong, China.[6][7] One half of the Guangzhou Twin Towers, it is the 15th tallest building in the world, completed in 2010. As of March 2018, it is the world's tallest building with a roof-top helipad, at 439 m (1,439 feet) high.[8] The world's second-tallest building with a roof-top helipad was also completed in 2010: Beijing's China World Trade Center Tower III, whose roof-top helipad is 330 m (1,083 feet) high.[9] Both buildings are taller than the U.S. Bank Tower, the previous record-holder from 1989 to 2010, whose roof-top helipad is only 310.3 m (1,018 feet) high. The building was previously known as Guangzhou West Tower and had a related project, the proposed Guangzhou East Tower, which, at 475 m (1,558 ft), would have been even taller,[10] though that project has been awarded to a different design by Kohn Pedersen Fox, the 530 m (1,740 ft) Chow Tai Fook Centre.[11] The building was the winner of the RIBA 2012 Lubetkin Prize.[12]
