Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Perched on a hilltop in Bratislava, Slovakia, the iconic Bratislava Castle is a reconstructed Baroque fortress with roots dating back to 907 A.D. This national museum offers visitors a glimpse into the city's intriguing history and serves as a prominent landmark dominating the capital's skyline.
What a lovely place, perched up over the city as castles often are, providing great views across the city and river Danube. Free entry to gardens around the castle and well worth a visit. There is more than one entrance and exit to the castle, but the main entrance at the top of the steep hill has the nicest entrance with a lovely gateway entrance. There is a red bus that takes you up and down the hill, l didn't use it so unsure of the cost, but worth knowing if you are not great with steep climbs.
Claire W — Google review
The outside of the castle def has way more to offer than the inside. The location is beautiful, perched on a hill with views of the Danube River. We enjoyed strolling through the gardens and came across three sculptures that added some character to the otherwise plain castle. They also had an old themed fair going on in the castle grounds, which was more entertaining than the insides.
Rin S — Google review
Cool palace, museum, but a bit ponderous as museums go. You have to kind of find your way up and down the stairs and to the various exhibit rooms by trial and error. For me the most interesting exhibits was the 3rd floor (I think that's right) wing with rooms showing archaeological findings from Neolithic/Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman, Byzantine, Baroque to 19th century. Amazing stuff on view.
Joe B — Google review
Perched on a hill overlooking the Danube, this white fortress offers the best panoramic views in the city. The museum inside is skippable unless you’re into Slovak political history - the real attraction is the gardens and views from the terrace. Sunset here is spectacular. Tip: Visit in the late afternoon and walk down via the old stone steps into the Old Town for dinner.
Neel B — Google review
The Bratislava Castle is such a wonderful sight to see! While the castle itself may not be as grand as some of the others in Europe, it stands out for its sturdy, well-maintained structure and timeless charm. From the grounds, you get a lovely panoramic view of the town and the lush greenery surrounding the area. It was such a great experience visiting this historic site and learning more about the rich history of the city and its people. Truly a must-see when in Bratislava! 🏰✨
BA — Google review
This fortress offers the best panoramic views in the city. Nice view of the Danube to another part of the city. It’s a very nice walk up to the castle. Everything is tidy and clean. This is a must visit place during Bratislava trip.
Nenad S — Google review
You can walk, or take a little tram up the hill to visit the castle. The views are breathtaking, you can see for miles and miles away, if the weather favors your visit. The castle it self is beautiful, there is a café within as well as a souvenir shop. If you find yourself in Bratislava, then Bratislava castle must be on your attraction list.
Vaclav A — Google review
The castle has great outsides and looks that has been maintained very well. Great to go walking or just outside coffee. The inside exhibitions at least from mi pov are very minimalistic. For the same price you can get to great exhibitions in other countries, at some point there were paintings but no info on it, I did Google lens to understand.

The Blue Church, also known as the Church of St. Elizabeth of Hungary, is a striking baby-blue church designed in the art nouveau style in the early 1900s. Its unique blue-colored exterior and otherworldly architectural style make it one of the most unique churches to visit. The design is reminiscent of the popular Sagrada Familia cathedral in Barcelona, but with a blue hue. Visitors can marvel at its architecture and enjoy free entry during designated times every day except Sundays.
Bratislava- Slovakia 🇸🇰 The Blue Church – officially known as the Church of St. Elizabeth – is one of the most iconic landmarks in Bratislava, Slovakia.😇♥️ Situated in the Old Town, about 10 minutes’ walk from the city center Sky blue façade, mosaics, and roof tiles — hence the nickname “The Blue Church” Oval church nave with a cylindrical tower. Decorated with white and blue majolica tiles. Interior is equally blue-themed, with painted pews, walls, and ceilings. Contains an image of St. Elizabeth of Hungary, to whom it is dedicated. Don’t miss this Holy place and architectural marvel if you’re around Bratislava 🫶🏻♥️
Sony K — Google review
This church is so cute. The blue against the afternoon sky was a great to see. The church opens at 5.30 to 7pm but I was lucky there was a wedding going on so I was able to see the inside before it officially opened. But its definitely worth the visit.
Mandy J — Google review
I visited the Blue Church in Bratislava, and it truly feels like a fairytale building—almost like a big, beautifully decorated cake. The pastel blue color and unique Art Nouveau style make it stand out from anything else in the city. I was lucky enough to watch a music show inside, and the atmosphere was magical. The interior matched the charm of the outside, and the acoustics made the performance even more special. It’s not a big church, so you don’t need too much time to explore, but it’s definitely worth a visit for its one-of-a-kind design and peaceful vibe.
Cinc V — Google review
Its a very pretty place! Even the benches are a very pleasing pastel blue. Almost fairy tale like. The exterior makes you want to bite into this pretty fondont cake!!
Nandini B — Google review
This is the icon of Bratislava. One of the churches with the most beautiful architecture. If you don't visit it, it's like you haven't been to Bratislava. I visited it three times, but I only found it open the third time. It has strange opening hours. A fascinating building, with beautiful blue architecture, that beckons you and will entice you to visit it. It's not very far from the center. All three times I visited, there were tourists taking pictures of it from the outside. It operates from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. and from 17:30 to 19:00 p.m.
Spase M — Google review
Little blue church. Little church in the eastern side of the old town of Bratislava. Interior is nicely decorated with many altars. It is located next to the gymnasium and walkable from the tram stop. Nice and quiet place to visit and pray.
Krishnamoorthi V — Google review
Very unique looking church which was one of a kind. Not really in the most exciting part of the town but would recommend visiting during broad daylight by car. The inside of the church was closed but you could still look inside. Everything was very baby blue which I have never seen before. Definitely a must visit in Bratislava.
Anand — Google review
Unique architecture with a fairy-tale feeling. Even though it’s located in a less popular area and was closed to the public during our visit, it’s definitely worth seeing.

Cathedral
Church
St. Martin's Cathedral is a 13th-century Gothic/Romanesque Catholic cathedral in Bratislava, known for its four chapels and three naves used for coronations. The cathedral is part of the city's historical sights, including the UFO Bridge, Bratislava Synagogue site, Jewish WWII Memorial, Palffy Palace, University Library, and more.
When we got there, they were finishing some organ music. It was so beautiful. I wish we had come earlier. We didn't walk much inside because there was a baptism happening later and we didn't want to disturb, but we saw enough.
Paulo S — Google review
Nice and historic cathedral with plenty of significance, but nothing too special. Worth a quick stop while exploring the old town - not the most dazzling in Europe, though full of history.
Highway V — Google review
I didn’t go inside Saint Martin’s Cathedral, but I wandered around the charming streets surrounding it early in the morning. The area was peaceful and picturesque, and I managed to take some beautiful photos. I really loved the atmosphere and the view of the cathedral from the outside it’s truly impressive .
Saeed B — Google review
A very beautiful place in Bratislava. Entrance to the main cathedral is free, while for €3 you can visit the choir with the organ, the crypt, and the treasury. All of this is also included in the Bratislava Card.
Igor F — Google review
Recommended if you are only going to take in one church on this visit. This cathedral has much to offer from crypt, relics, carvings, stained glass and much more- as per photos. Separate space for private prayers too.
Jean K — Google review
Decent cathedral with lots of history thanks to Hungarian monarch coronations. However, very little written history in the building itself. The interior is plain and bland so quite understated. Worth a ten minute visit if in the city.
John M — Google review
The largest and one of the most beautiful churches in Bratislava. The church is beautiful both outside and inside. It is located in a great location, right next to the river and near Bratislava Castle. This large building can be seen from several places from further away. The interior is beautiful. The church is built in a beautiful Baroque style. 11 Hungarian kings and 8 Hungarian queens were crowned here. Inside is a baroque statue of St. Martin the Tour. The oldest object of the temple is the bottom of the Baptistery from 1410. This cathedral is a must-visit while you are in the city.
Spase M — Google review
Cute cathedral dedicated to Saint Martin . The cathedral itself can be packed with people ...and every Sunday people get together to celebrate mass . It's not as big as the one in Vienna or Prague , but it's definitely worth a visit

The Old Town Hall is one of the most iconic landmarks in Bratislava. Located right in the main square, it stands out with its colorful architecture and historic charm. The building itself is beautiful from the outside, and the square around it is lively with cafés shops and street performers. Even if you don’t go inside, it’s a must-see spot while exploring the old town

This was a lovely little exhibit. The views of the old town are spectacular and navigating the museum part is easy. The receptionist was also very kind and cheerful.
H B — Google review
The Old Town Hall in Bratislava is one of the city’s oldest and most iconic buildings, dating back to the 14th century. Originally a complex of connected houses, it served as the city’s administrative and judicial center. The building features a distinctive tower, Gothic and Renaissance architectural elements, and a charming courtyard. Today, it houses the Bratislava City Museum, showcasing local history. Tickets currently cost €8.
Alyssa R — Google review
At 10:00am on a Saturday, we had the town hall bell tower to ourselves with uninterrupted views of Bratislava Centrum. As you climb to the top, there’s exhibitions on the way including a recreation of the city’s archivist office. It’s worth it just for the views. Easy climb so don’t be too concerned about that

Tanja — Google review
The Old Town Hall in Bratislava is a fascinating historical landmark that offers a glimpse into the city's rich cultural heritage. The building's architecture is stunning, with Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque elements all coming together in a harmonious blend. The highlight of the Old Town Hall, however, is the breathtaking view from the top of the tower. Climbing up to the top is a bit of a climb, but the panoramic views of Bratislava from the tower are well worth the effort. The view offers a unique perspective of the city's skyline and the Danube River. Overall, the Old Town Hall is a must-see attraction for anyone visiting Bratislava, especially those who want to take in the city's stunning views.

So glad we stayed close to Old Town Bratislava, there are so much to do and see. Friendly services everywhere we went, lively atmosphere. Filled with locals hanging out outside with drinks and laughters. And yes, it is a touristy area, however it didn’t feel like that. We enjoyed the walk to old town, beautiful area with characters; so many dining selections and most are really good; many boutique shops and unique items to look at, such a fun place visit. Highly recommend by @winedinenvacay

The Primate's Palace in Bratislava is a stunning 18th-century Neoclassical building with a pastel pink exterior reminiscent of Viennese palatial style. It holds historical significance as the location where the fourth Peace of Pressburg was signed in 1805. The palace now serves as the seat of Bratislava's mayor and is open to the public for tours.
We were visiting our friend the Ambassador of Pakistan to Austria and Slovakia in Vienna when he mentioned a Pakistani musical evening to be held in Bratislava. Jumping at the opportunity to visit another country we drove with him on the 40 minute ride - much shorter than going to my in-laws place in our own town! Although not quite as grand as the other major capitals of Europe like Vienna, Prague or Budapest, downtown Bratislava is also a classical city, well worth visiting.
Akif S — Google review
Fantastic place to visit. Its like a royal palace inside with big old paintings, beautiful lightning and old statues.
Merethe A — Google review
I'm not the type of person to particularly enjoy this experience, however, after my family decided to visit I had to go. The name is misleading and it's really just an old building. The 'hall of mirrors' is really just a small concert hall with mirrors on the walls. Also, no photos were allowed.
Travis P — Google review
One of the most beautiful hostorical halls in the old town open to public. Ideal for weddings, conferences, concerts.
Katarina — Google review
Beautiful hall with mirrors on left and right walls. The windows on the front wall let the light into this magnificent hall. Two majestic chandeliers hang from the decorated ceiling giving the hall that extra elegance.

Perched on a hill overlooking Bratislava, Slavín War Memorial is a tribute to around 7,000 Soviet Army soldiers who perished in WWII. The monument offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city and serves as a peaceful burial ground for the fallen soldiers. As visitors ascend the hill, they are greeted by stoic stone soldiers and an opportunity for bird-watching.
Slavín and the scenery surrounding it is beautiful. It is a stunning monument and cemetery in remembrance to the fallen soldiers there from WWII. It is very clean and well looked after. The views from up there are amazing and you can see across the city and the sights such as Bratislava Castle 🏰
Simon H — Google review
a memorial from world war twobdedicated to those who died while fighting against the germans. full of history as you can also see all the people who have died for this city, even though all the people i have seen were soviets (obviously). the statue itself can be seen from a long range of view and there can be an amazing view but it is restricted by the trees (a drone would work very well). only bad thing is that as of 2025 theres lots of buildings under renovations and it ruins a little the view. surprisingly, i saw no bit of trash here
Alex — Google review
A very well done memorial for those that lost their lives fighting Nazi occupation, a must visit for anyone that is interested in history. Top of a hill with very good views. Recommend getting a bus or taxi ride to the location as it is up hill a lot the castle area.
Ryan B — Google review
The Slavin monument in Bratislava is a deeply moving and historically significant site. Located on a hill overlooking the city, it offers stunning panoramic views while carrying a powerful sense of remembrance and honor. The architecture and scale of the memorial are impressive, but what truly stands out is the quiet dignity of the place — a solemn tribute to those who sacrificed their lives during World War II. Walking through the grounds, surrounded by manicured gardens and peaceful silence, you feel the weight of history and gratitude. It is both humbling and inspiring. Whether you're interested in history, culture, or simply looking to connect with the city on a deeper level, Slavin is an essential and meaningful stop in Bratislava. A beautiful and respectful monument that stays with you long after you leave.

Bratislava: Slavín is a very beautiful and peaceful place. It's clean, well-maintained, and offers stunning views over the city. The memorial itself is impressive, and the surrounding park adds to the calm atmosphere. A great spot to relax and reflect while enjoying Bratislava from above.

Even though it’s quite far from the city center and probably sits on the highest point of Bratislava, the walk there felt like a tribute to history. The scenery was stunning, and the place invites moments of quiet reflection.

Slovak Radio Building, completed in 1983, is a striking example of post-war modern architecture in Bratislava. Despite being labeled one of the world's ugliest buildings by The Telegraph, it was declared a Cultural Heritage monument in Slovakia. This huge brown building resembles an inverted pyramid thrust into the ground and houses a concert hall with one of the country's largest organs.
A unique building that is built as an upside down pyramid. You don't see that every day.
Craig B — Google review
the acclaimed “ugliest” building in the world was on the line of being ugly and being tolerable for me. the first sight was yes it’s ugly but once you get close to the pavilion and then indoor, it seems pretty cool. really depends on your perspective!

The Slovak National Theatre, located on Hviezdoslav Square, is a historic neo-renaissance building that opened in 1886. It serves as a cultural monument and hosts a rich program of famous operas. The theatre company performs at two locations: a modern building near Eurovea Shopping Center and the original Old Town location. Visitors can enjoy drama, opera, or ballet performances in these ornately decorated spaces.
My visit to the Slovak National Theater was absolutely wonderful! The building is a beautiful blend of historic charm and modern elegance. I attended a performance of "Madama Butterfly" by Giacomo Puccini, and it was an extraordinary experience. The opera was directed in a modern style, which brought a fresh perspective to this classic piece. I thoroughly enjoyed it!The production quality was top-notch, with captivating performances, stunning set design, and exquisite costumes. The staff were very friendly and helpful, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. The acoustics in the theater are fantastic, allowing every note to resonate beautifully. If you're in Bratislava, a visit to the Slovak National Theater is a must for an unforgettable cultural experience. Highly recommended!

It’s a weird designed theatre(new) but I can’t say it’s bad or good it just has its own odd vibe. We went to see the Nutcracker and we liked it. The decoration, the scene, the music was awesome. Of course comparing to other ballet theatres I visited and seen the professionalism of the performance was rather weak, however I can’t complain about it too much. I suggest them to fix the situation with the buffet as they had only one opened with the full booked theatre for Nutcracker is impossible to stay in line for 20 minutes. I recommend visiting it as I had a good feeling after attending the theatre.

Unfortunately, there were no performances at the time we were in Bratislava, but the exterior looked beautiful, especially when it was lit up at night. Would love to return to see a performance in this beautiful building.

This place holds so many great memories for me. Not only is it an architectural gem – both outside and inside – but it also hosted one of the most inspiring events I ever attended: TEDxBratislava. The atmosphere was incredibly uplifting, filled with ideas, energy, and people eager to make the world a better place. The theatre is situated in a perfect location – just a short walk from Eurovea, the main bus station, and the very heart of the city. I always loved sitting by the beautiful fountain out front, soaking in the calm energy before or after events. It felt like a space that celebrated not only art but also innovation, community, and personal growth. I’ll never forget the sense of welcome and positivity I felt there every time I visited.

Beautiful old building in the main square, although they have several others. Unfortunately didn't go inside to watch a show but it's worth just to see the place.

Absolutely wonderful!!! This theatre is newly built 4 years ago. The attention to detail is obvious. The glass partion walls and the sloping high arching ceilings give the theater a elegant but still sophisticated atmosphere. The interior of the concert hall is finely adorned with impactful red motif. The wooden design of the concert ceiling again gives it motion and acoustic elements. Very well thought out and not just acoustically pleasing but also visually stunning. The entire venue is top notch. I highly recommend.

Michalská brána, or St. Michael's Gate, stands as a remarkable testament to Bratislava's medieval history. This ancient gateway, which dates back to around 1300, is the only one of its kind still standing in the city today. Recently renovated in 2022, it features a striking tower with an archway at its base that invites visitors into the heart of Bratislava.
Historical Landmark of Bratislava We really liked this little passage way, or gate, with the clock above it & the fantastically beautiful tower. The clock is also very nice. This gate also leads onto one of the nicest part of the old town, so definitely worth visiting. I recommend coming here and just wandering around. Very nice area.
Paul V — Google review
a great landmark of this great city, used to be the entry to the city back then. lots of restaurants that take up a relatively great space of the roads around, and also a lot of people who come up to you and ask for money, but theyre easy to ignore. be careful when it is crowded as there might be a few thefts. other than that it is very nice place and a must see
Alex — Google review
One of the last surviving medieval gates of Bratislava’s old fortifications, and easily one of the city’s most photogenic spots. Walking through the narrow cobbled street leading to the gate feels like stepping back a few centuries. The view from the top (small entry fee) is fantastic - terracotta rooftops, the castle, and the Old Town stretching out below. Tip: Visit early morning or around sunset to avoid crowds, then stop by one of the nearby bars for a pint - it’s where the city’s history and nightlife meet perfectly.
Neel B — Google review
One of the last medieval city gates still standing, with a lovely tower and great views from the top. A charming landmark right in the old town.

One of the main attraction in Bratislava . Everything is very well renovated, and offers a great 360 view of historical center. Also you can view the castle on the hill. Price is very acceptable.
Lucian T — Google review
A very beautiful historical landmark at a central spot in Bratislava old town. It is certainly worth climbing up the stairs, while making a stop in the rooms of floors between, to see exhibits and read important information about the tower and the history of the city as well as the country, which it clearly reflects. Certainly the view from the top is magnificent.

Michael’s Gate at Old Town Center, Bratislava, symbolizes the starting point of Old Town or Old Town Center, Bratislava, and it is also the point where tourists can find cultural tour and shopping fun at the same time. Old Town Center or Staré Mesto of Bratislava is relatively small, but with old stone or brick road and clearly marked directions, tourists surely can enjoy sightseeing and shopping, while enjoy cultural atmosphere. There are numerous restaurants, gift shops, ice cream stores, etc. There are at least five ice cream stores, and some of more inside seats, while few stores are smaller in store size and only have outside chairs without table. With or without tables, most of the ice cream stores in the area do have good quality with reasonable price. For example, Luculus Ice Saloon claims its ice cream is the top-notch, Slovakian ice cream in Bratislava. It has more than 170 varieties and vegan ice cream, and the price is $2 euro / scoop, plus cone. Its store is wider and has inside seats. Then, Kapucino Coffee & Cakes only serves fewer than 25 types of ice cream but their quality is surely excellent. Zmrzlina Special is also a small store but it can meet most of tourists’ desire for tasty ice cream with its limited selections of ice cream flavors. For gift shops, some stores’ items are really Slovakian authentic or so-called local made, but some items seem to be made in China which gradually makes increasing number of foreign-country cultural gifts or souvenirs for foreign-country local gift stores under OEM, JDM or ODM modes. Thus, local gifts may no longer unique with local cultural flavor or style. In Old Town, Bratislava, visitors can still find Bratislava glassmaking crafts and it is Czechoslovakian Sklo glassware. Another local gift is tote bag which has hand-made Slovakian Laces. Naturally, there are local wines, and Slovakian chocolate bars filled with a layer of peanuts and wafer [called Horalky].

This is the northern gate of the ancient fortification walls dating back to 1300, the only one that was still preserved today. The tower is 51 meters high and at the top there's a statue of archangel Michael slaying a dragon. It houses the Museum of Weapons but it was closed for renovation during my visit. On the pavement under the tower there's the so called "zero kilometre" plate, displaying the distance from Bratislava of 29 world capitals.

Located on a dramatic setting along the Danube, the Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum is a world-class gallery showcasing modern art exhibitions and sculpture gardens. The museum's outdoor sculpture garden offers an invigorating experience, while inside, floor-to-ceiling windows provide a stunning backdrop of the water for contemporary art displays. The museum features works by Slovak and Czech artists such as Viera Kraicova, Vincent Hloznik, and Rudolf Fila.
Beautiful museum on an island in the Danube. The outdoor sculptures are by far the best part. They even used the roof of the museum for more sculptures. The setting is lovely. My only note would be that it would be nice if the cafe had some food besides desserts. Although the desserts were yummy!

An absolutely brilliant gallery in a stunning location! We loved the exhibits, both in the gallery & outside. The setting is beautiful on an island in the Danube with the river birdlife on view from the cafe. Not to be missed!

Danubiana is truly a gem just outside Bratislava—a museum of international class, but on a more intimate and accessible scale. What really stood out was the strong focus on local and regional artists, which gave the visit a real sense of place and identity. The mix of permanent and changing exhibitions keeps things fresh and engaging. The location is stunning—situated on a narrow peninsula (almost like an island!) surrounded by the Danube, with views of the river in full force. Don’t miss the sculpture park outside or the rooftop terrace, both perfect for a peaceful stroll and great photo opportunities. The café is another highlight. It’s a lovely spot to relax, with outdoor seating that lets you enjoy the scenery while taking a break. This was our first visit, but definitely not the last. Highly recommended for art lovers, nature lovers—or anyone looking for a special experience just a short drive from the city.

It was a truly amazing experience. The artwork is fascinating, and the place itself is stunning. It overlooks either a river or a lake—I’m not sure which—but the view is absolutely charming.
Amer A — Google review
A one of kind museum in the middle of the Danube river. It was a bit far from the city but it's worth a trip, you can spend 1-2 hours here but I would recommend to go there on sunny days as a huge part of the artworks are outside in the gardens or on the rooftop. I didn't like all the temporary exhibition but they were mainly good. Best part was the photography exhibition by Rancinan. The café inside the museum was lovely.
Emilio — Google review
It is a very nice museum! For lovers of modern art and finding artists from Slovakia and other surrounding countries, this is a must in Bratislava! It is easily accessible by bus from the centre of the city (departing from Nové SND, 2 zones), and it is situated in a very beautiful place! Personally, I thought that it needed more female artists, but the pieces being displayed are very dynamic and stunning! The staff is very kind, there's also free water, portable folding chairs and a nice outside area to roam and catch some sunlight. The café is nice, and it is very well decorated! The WC is very clean and functional. The only downside is the museum shop, which doesn't contain much from the museum itself. It definitely needed more postcards with pieces being displayed and other merchandise from the exhibitions. Definitely worth a visit!!

The Kamzík Television Tower, a prominent feature of Bratislava's skyline, is situated atop Kamzik Hill within the expansive Bratislava Forest Park. Standing at 196 meters tall, it offers a public observation deck providing breathtaking panoramic views of the city and its surroundings. While primarily functioning as a broadcasting facility, visitors can ascend to the top to marvel at historic church spires, trace the Danube River's banks, and behold the Carpathian Mountains.
Great lookout to see Bratislava! Completely view of Bratislava and you are able to even see parts of Austria at the top. As you can see from the pictures it depends on the day as to what you can see from the top. There is a cafe at the top and restaurant which we did not go to. However from the viewpoint you are able to buy drinks and desserts (if open). The lookout tower is €6 per adult to gain entry. Enter via the lift after getting the tickets.

This place is a short taxi ride out of town. There is a 6 euro entry fee which you get back if you order a main course in the restaurant. The restaurant is a revolving one with fabulous views all across Bratislava and into Austria. Food was good although a little more expensive than some other places in Bratislava.
Christine W — Google review
We had a nice experience dining at the restaurant in the TV Tower! The food was tasty and the portions were just right. The view alone makes it worth the price! the slowly rotating floor lets you enjoy a full 360° view of the city while you eat. The staff were friendly and helpful, and they provided a high chair for our baby, which made the experience very family friendly. odporúčame!

very imposing and seen all across the city, but its incredibly expensive. I have been there "just because it is an one time visit and it wont hurt" but thats basically the thing sith tourist traps... the entry feels like your wallet has been shot, and i dont even want to know how the restaurant is, but theres nothing to blame since it had to be expected. in rest the view and staff is very nice
Alex — Google review
We were very disappointed with our recent visit to Kamzic TV Tower. Having called in advance to reserve a table at the restaurant, we expected a pleasant dining experience. However, upon arrival — after spending €10 on a taxi — we discovered that the restaurant was closed. No attempt was made to contact us, despite the fact that the staff had our telephone number from the reservation. As a result, we were left waiting for another taxi to return to the city centre, which was both inconvenient and frustrating. This lack of communication and consideration for guests is unacceptable. We would strongly recommend confirming before making the journey, as our experience was a waste of both time and money. The outside of the building (not being able to see the inside) was very dilapidated

Schöne Náci, also known as Ignac Lamar, was a beloved and eccentric local figure in Bratislava during the mid-20th century. Born in 1897, he captured the hearts of the city's residents with his charming and jovial nature. He would wander through the streets of Old Town, bringing smiles to everyone he encountered. In honor of his renown and reputation, a life-size statue was erected in his honor.
The centre of Bratislava is also called the Old Town (41,953 inhabitants). The Old Town includes the historic centre and adjoining neighbourhoods that used to be the centre's immediate outskirts in the Middle Ages. St. Michael's Tower is one of essential symbols of Bratislava. Only the gate on St. Michael's Tower has been preserved out of the original four gates that were gateways for entering the fortified medieval city. Currentlyan exhibition of weaponry and city fortifications of the Bratislava City Museum is on display in the tower. A zero kilometre, which counts the distance of selected cities in the world from Bratislava, is located under the tower. A view of the entire rest of St. Michael's Street (Michalská ulica), which is one of the oldest in the city, opens up from St. Michael's Gate. Zichy's Palace (house No. 11) with its elegant, strictly Classicist-style facade draws the visitor's interest at the corner of Ventúrska and Prepoštská Streets. It was built in approximately 1775 at the behest of Count Francis Zichy. The palace was refurbished in the 1980's and now it hosts all kinds of ceremonies and celebrations. A Baroque-style Pállfy's Palace (house No. 10), which was rebuilt from an old house in 1747, is located at the corner of Ventúrska and Zelená Streets. A memorial plaque on the Pállfy's Palace facade on Ventúrska Street brings attention to the fact that the six-year old child prodigy, worldwide known as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791), probably performed a concert in the palace. The crossroads of the Fisherman's Gate and Panská and Laurinská Streets is one of the Old Town's liveliest places. People like to stop here to listen to tunes played by street musicians. Tourists are bound to make a picture with the statue of Čumil in what is an almost ceremonial photo session. The Fisherman's Gate is a short street in Bratislava's historic centre. Next to House No. 1 on Fisherman's Gate Street is a statue of a man in real size, who is holding a hat in his hand. The man looks like he is saying hello to somebody he knows coming out of a nearby entrance. Unlike the nearby Čumil, this sculpture, which shines in the silver colour, represents a real Bratislava local, whom everybody has called Schöner Náci

Ignat Lamar, also known as "The Handsome Nazi," is a true symbol of Bratislava! With his vibrant charisma and unique style, he adds a special charm to the city. Always friendly, with a constant smile on his face, Ignat has become a local legend. His presence on the streets makes walks around the city unforgettable, and meeting him is always a joy. Ignat is an integral part of the city's spirit!

Modern part of the city. A large shopping mall built underground, located near the Danube, with a superb promenade area surrounded by tall, modern buildings.”
Marius G — Google review
Wow. Wow. Wow. What. A. Mall. Eurovea is huge, like bigger than you think it is big. Modern, luxurious, and packed with the familiar European favorites: DM, Douglas, H&M, New Yorker, Billa, Lidl, Starbucks and all the luxury stores we love to walk past but not buy from.😌 It’s about four floors tall, and walking from one end to the other easily takes 10 minutes. There are multiple exits, sometimes a little confusing, b but most lead to bus stops with very frequent connections. Customer service? Surprisingly wholesome. I visited quite a few shops and I’d say 90% of the staff spoke fluent English. And they actually smiled! You have no idea how rare that can be in European retail. Major points for that! Bathrooms are on every floor, easy to find, and free! no awkward fumbling with €0.50 coins. Bless them. Now, food options are decent but not amazing. Great for a quick snack or lunch, but probably not the best “sit down for a whole evening” dinner spot unless that’s your vibe. Pricing: My friend and I spent €122.78 total for: • Groceries for 2 nights (meals + snacks ✅) • 6 pieces of clothing 👕👚 • 5 Toiletry Products from DM 🧴 • 2 Frappuccinos from Starbucks ☕ For a mall day out with shopping + essentials? That’s honestly really great value. I barely have complaints, the only nitpick: the signage for exits could be clearer. There are tons of signs for shops, bathrooms, and emergency exits, but not many pointing to where you actually entered or where to leave the mall. We found our way out eventually, but a little extra clarity wouldn’t hurt in a mall this big. Final Verdict, Amazing mall. Great vibes. Great customer service. Perfect for shopping, hanging out, and stocking up for a trip. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in Bratislava.

Museums
The Slovak National Gallery, the largest association of art museums in Slovakia, boasts an impressive collection spread across five different cities. In Bratislava, visitors can explore the permanent collection and current exhibits at the neo-Renaissance Esterhazy Palace. Although undergoing refurbishment in 2017, a small but cherished exhibition showcasing Gothic and Baroque art from the 1300s to the 1700s is available for viewing.
An interesting collection of Slovak art in a very pleasant building. Features artists largely unknown outside Slovakia and attempts to capture the history of art in this region of Europe. The building itself is very pleasant to be in - cool, spacious, clean.

Special and decent art museum in Bratislava. It demonstrates many modern artworks. And if you don’t have enough time, you don’t need to visit here as it’s not worthwhile… The exhibition was nice but lack of connections between each exhibition hall. Having a quiet and well-organized environment, it’s more suitable for people with slow paces and slow minds!

A fascinating architectural complex. An old historic building with several modern extensions, all blending together very organically — a mix of classic and contemporary styles. The architecture itself is worth a visit, and inside you’ll find a rich collection of art. There’s also the Kornel Földvári Library, which is a true gem for book lovers. If you enjoy art and architecture, this is a must-visit.

The best museum in Bratislava. It is so well curated, although some artworks felt a bit short, the rooms are impressive and showcased a large variety of artworks. The spaces are very well designed, with appropriate seating and resting areas to see the river. We had the chance to also witness the bienale of illustrations and it was a delight. I loved the importance given to all these illustrators.

Why I No Longer Visit the Slovak National Gallery I’m writing this from my personal experience and deep disappointment. What used to be a public art institution is now under political control — curators forced out, artists censored, works removed or installed without consent. Even foreign institutions have withdrawn cooperation and loaned works, questioning the gallery’s ability to safeguard artworks. Under the current leadership, SNG no longer feels like a space of freedom or culture, but a symbol of power abuse. For me, it has become a stolen institution — a place that no longer represents the public, artists, or the values it was built to protect.

The Most SNP (UFO Tower) in Bratislava is an iconic structure that offers more than just breathtaking views of the city. Situated atop the SNP Bridge, it provides panoramic vistas of the Danube River, Old Town, and Bratislava Castle. The tower's distinctive flying saucer design makes it a popular spot for photography enthusiasts and curious travelers.
The elevator ride up the bridge tower alone is worth it. The 360° views over Bratislava and the Danube are phenomenal, especially at night when the castle lights up. Critique: Drinks are pricey (cocktails around €15), but you’re paying for the view.
Neel B — Google review
The tower itself has nice views (some of the best in Bratislava) and it's not too expensive to get on the view platform. Also, we didn't wait long for the elevator. However I would not recommend dining at the restaurant or getting a drink there as the prices are not really justified by the view.
Andrea L — Google review
If you have more time to spend in Bratislava, the UFO tower is worth seeing. Wonderful view over Bratislava and the surroundings. The Danube and the ships can be admired in all their splendor. As less pleasant parts I can list the fact that there are not many signs to the entrance to the UFO (maybe I didn't see them), the lady at the bar reception seemed a bit bored or maybe she wasn't having a good day and while we were climbing the stairs to the promenade there was a smell of sewage. All in all, I repeat, it is worth visiting.
Florin — Google review
Somehow I expected a bit more for such an iconic place. I don’t know if they’re working in the outside looks, but yeah… I don’t know… the view of the Danubio is impressive, but for the rest, no much for me to do… you also had limited mobility in the restaurant area…
Almadzu M — Google review
I came a 2nd time to Bratislava, Slovakia 🇸🇰 just to enjoy the UFO tower and it's rooftop restaurant where the whole city can be seen. Took the train from Vienna and it was quite easy to reach. The staff were very friendly and understanding. The food and experience was wonderful, where the waiters explained each presented dish. Overall for a dining experience of 80€, it was quite a nice experience for me trying a fine dining restaurant for the first time. All media show the tower's panorama and the restaurant inside. I also didn't have to pay the tower's entrance fee since I had reserved in advance for the restaurant. The tower was shaking a bit from the vehicles passing through the highway 🛣️, which was a little bit uncomfortable.
O. — Google review
worth for the view, but the problem is the prices as always. for a short 1 minute zoomed view, you have to pay like 1 euro, something which I did before I remembered just after that moment how I was able to see it all alone with an actual camera, the machine qorls hard by the way because i had a coin stuck there for a while. the person up there sells some drinks and is very helpful, but unfortunately nobody wants to buy anything from there and its kinda sad. the lift is kinda creepy but it has its own charm. as long as you have a nice budget, you can visit it
Alex — Google review
The view from the UFO Tower is definitely the highlight – you get a lovely panorama of Bratislava and the Danube, which is hard to beat. Compared to observation points in nearby capitals like Vienna or Budapest, it feels smaller and less polished, but still worth it if you’re in town. That said, accessibility and health & safety don’t seem to be a priority here. The space isn’t very clean, and I wouldn’t recommend the bar based on my visit. At €10 per person, it’s not bad value for the view alone, but don’t expect much beyond that. As far as sightseeing in Bratislava goes, this is an “ok experience” – not exceptional, but decent for first-time visitors.
Tibor B — Google review
The best view of the city is from here. The entrance fee is €9.90 per person and it is worth it. You take an elevator to the top to the souvenir shop and restaurant, and then continue up the stairs, which are not many. From the top you can see the entire city and the surrounding area. A truly great view. Since it is an open space, the wind blows. From here you can take great photos and videos. You can also see Austria, because the windmills you will see are there. There was no crowd at the entrance and I reached the top quickly, but that doesn't mean there wouldn't be crowds. The souvenir shop has a small but nice selection of souvenirs.

What a wonderful evening! The concert hall was absolutely stunning—elegant, inviting, and acoustically brilliant. The musicians delivered a moving and masterful performance of Strauss and Barber, each piece filled with emotion and precision. It was truly a privilege to experience such talent live. Even more impressive? The ticket prices were a steal compared to what we’d pay in the U.S. This was an unforgettable night that will stay with us for a long time.

We went to the new years eve concert with the orchestra, a choir and male and female opera singers. They we're all very talented at what they do. The building itself is beautiful as well, especially inside. This is by far the best classical music performance I've been. I haven't been to many, but after this performance I have a newfound love for the genre.

A must see for anyone visiting Bratislava. The concerts/performances are reasonably priced: €10 - €20, and the quality of symphonic music is always of the highest order: Brahms, Schostakovich, Tchaikovsky, Mahler and so on. A brilliant venue. It's worth a visit simply to appreciate the grandeur of the interior.

It's a beautiful building both from the outside and the inside. Used to be a granary, built at the time of Maria Theresa. We listened to a Sunday afternoon organ concert. Tickets could be bought on the spot, ticket office opened an hour before the performance. Ganymede's Fountain, located in front of the Opera House on Hviezdoslav Square, is a Neo-Baroque style decorative water feature that depicts the ancient Greek myth of Ganymede. Designed by V. Tilgner in 1886, it showcases a sculpture of Ganymede being carried aloft by an eagle, symbolizing his ascent to become the cup-bearer to the gods.
Beautiful area. A wonderful place to meet friends before or after exploring Old Town. Easy walk to historic sights, food and shops. Bus tours leave from here too and only a short walk to the river.

Ganymede's Fountain in Bratislava is a charming blend of mythology and artistry. Located in front of the Slovak National Theater, it adds elegance to the historical square. The sculpture—depicting Zeus in eagle form abducting Ganymede—feels both dramatic and graceful. While not massive, the fountain stands out for its detail and symbolism. It's a peaceful, photogenic spot that’s worth a quick stop during a city stroll.

Built way back in 1888 by V. Tilgner, the foundation is really well made and interesting because of the different animals displayed. Right next to the city center and Opera house. The square is big and staying a bit unused in my opinion but it's good there's space for pedestrians

The fountain with a monument is located in front of the building with the best architecture, which is the National Theater. The fountain enriches the ambiance.
Spase M — Google review
This fountain in Hviezdoslavovo square is so called because it tells the Greek story of Ganymede. The sculptural ensemble of the fountain features a centrepiece of a sculpture of Ganymede with a cup in his hand, being borne aloft on the back of an eagle. The sculpture alludes to the story of the handsome Trojan prince who was carried off to heaven by Zeus in the shape of an eagle where he became the cup-bearer to the gods, which would’ve been a position of honour. The sculptural ensemble is completed by four sculptures of youths, each holding a large fish spewing water into the fountain basin. Not only is this a handsome fountain, it is directly in front of the Slovak National Theatre, which is itself a handsome building. The two make a great photogenic spot and as you can imagine, a popular tourist stop.

The Bratislava Transport Museum is housed in a former train station and showcases a diverse array of vintage vehicles, exhibits, and memorabilia. Established in 1999 with the support of the Slovak Technical Museum, it boasts a rare collection of historical road and rail vehicles curated by enthusiasts passionate about transport technology. The museum's permanent exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to explore the evolution of transportation through the efforts of organizations such as the Slovak Railways and the Veteran Club Bratislava.
An entertaining mid-sized transport museum. Most signs are bilingual and the two halls and train yard have enough to spend 1-1.5 hours here. Being near the train station, it's an ideal last stop for your Bratislava visit.

I was kinda surprised (in a nice way.) That there was quite a lot of displays of the old and: classical cars, motorbikes, trains, bicycles etc. collection!... It's kinda nice place to visit and explore with your families and kids. They truly have some unique and rare pieces of tech and engineering in there.
Mantvydas Ū — Google review
I didn’t expect myself to enjoy the museum this much! It is very cool to see the actual transport methods used in the past from bicycles to trains and ships. You would need around 2h for this museum. Free entry if you have the Bratislava card. Recommended!
Montaha N — Google review
I've spent the best couple of hours of my life in this small, but charming museum. As a transport enthusiast, I enjoyed my visit here. The museum is built on the old train station and it is organised into 2 main halls and the exterior platform. The main halls cover wheeled vehicles such as motorbikes and cars (you can find some old Skodas) and the history of the Slovakian Train Network. At platform you can find some old locomotives and carriages from various decades. The guide was honestly the best part of the museum. He is an old man dressed as a ship captain and we spoke together for a lot of time. He told me the history of Bratislava, the arrival of the first locomotive and the soviet urban development during the Cold War. Honestly, I totally recommend this museum, especially if you are a train nerd or transport enthusiast!
DN — Google review
A bit underwhelming, but still pretty good. We were about an hour in the Museum. But if you just skip over the cars and don’t look at things in detail, you might be just 20 minutes in there. And you can debate if it’s worth the 8€ you pay for the entrance as an adult.

The Gothic tower from the Franciscan church, also known as Goticka veza, is a historic architectural gem located in Janko Kral Park. Originally part of the Franciscan Church, this tower was built in the early 15th century and underwent reconstruction after an earthquake in 1897. The Neogothic style of its upper part adds to its charm. Despite some damages, it remains a free and accessible attraction for everyone to enjoy.
The Gothic tower (Gotická veža) is the prominent architectural structure in Janko Kráľ Park. It is the primary garden arbour and was previously a Franciscan church tower. This Gothic tower was built in the early 15th century at the intersection of the South facing Franciscan church: carved by Michael Chnam. In 1897, an earthquake damaged the upper part of the tower, requiring that it be rebuilt, which was done in a Neogothic style by project architect Friedrich Schulek. The original top of the tower, after the earthquake, was placed in Janko Kráľ Park, where it is now an arbour.

In addition to its animal residents, the zoo features a unique DinoPark with animated, life-size sculptures and a 3D cinema, making it an ideal destination for families and couples alike.
Absolutely lovely experience. Last time I visited was at least a decade ago and I can see all the positive changes done to the area. Payment for entrance is possible by cash, card or Multisport (which was a nice surprise). There are maps and way signs everywhere making it easy to navigate the vast area. Getting here on a not scorching hot day is advised as the visit includes a lot of walking. Reserve at least 3-4 hours to see everything at least briefly or more if you want to read all the information. There is also a small train going through the area for a reasonable price. There are options for refreshments in the area if you need a small break. Don't forget to visit the indoor expositions of more animals. These areas were especially nicely surprising. The employees were nice, despite us leaving very close to the closing time they knew we were excited to see the animals and we didn't feel like we were being rushed out. Overall a very nice experience and definitely coming back soon.

We had a great day here, a wonderful zoo! We arrived just before 10am and the free car park was already about 80% full so it's worth getting there early if you're driving. There's a big sign warning you not to leave valuables in the car but we didn't see any sign of break-ins The zoo is great, €27 for a family ticket which we thought was very reasonable. The animals all seem well cared for and many of the enclosures are wonderfully large and modern, offering the animals lots of privacy but still good viewing for the public! We had a super time here, spent over 5 hours wandering around (we didn't bother with the train, the walk is very manageable and not too steep). There are lots of picnic areas and a wonderful playground.

Generally a nice zoo with many animals. It's not the best zoo I've been to, but I guess it's the best to I've been to in Slovakia (full disclosure: I haven't been to Košice and I don't know if they have a zoo). It's a pretty spacious zoo. If you come at a good time, your can see a lot. Also, if you want a zoo that you don't need the whole day to see, then this is a good pick. When compared to the zoos in Zlín and Prague, it is smaller, but at least you can see everything at an average pace. There are places to eat and spaces for children. There's even a petting zoo although we didn't go there with my daughter. I got yelled at a bit by a staff member because he thought I was touching the bisons. I was OK with that, because I understand it really looked as if I was touching them although I wasn't. They came very close to me and my daughter and we were admiring them. A shop keeper told us a few stories about the ostriches and how they behave with staff members. They were very nice to us in general. So we had a great experience I'd say. Finally, I'd say the prices were reasonable in general, whether it be tickets or the food inside.

The Church of the Most Holy Savior, also known as the Jesuit Church, is a historic 17th-century church located in the Old Town of Bratislava, Slovakia. Originally built for Protestants, it was later taken over by the Society of Jesus. The church features a mix of Gothic and Baroque architectural styles and houses a stunning baroque altar. It is a significant religious site with ties to both Protestantism and Roman Catholicism.
The Church of the Holy Savior is a must visit when you are in Bratislava. In the city center near the fountain and the old square, close to the city museum. Fantastic iconostasis and icons with deep biblical motifs. It was a holiday and there were many pilgrims who were praying and sitting in the cathedral. Also, I am delighted with the place for confession, ie. the confessional, which is made of beautiful wood, carved and carries the wonderful spirit of the past.

It is dedicated to the Most Holy Savior, which is why it is also called the Church of the Redeemer or the Church of Salvator (Kostol Najsvätejšieho Spasiteľa). The Church is definitely worth to visit, especially during Christmas time!

Barry L — Google review
The Holy Saviour Church (Slovak: Kostol Najsvätejšieho Spasiteľa, Jezuitský kostol) also called the Jesuit Church, is an originally protestant church from the 17th century on the Franciscan Square in the Old Town of Bratislava, Slovakia.[1] Today, the church belongs to the Society of Jesus, known as the Jesuit Order. The church was built from 1636 to 1638 as a place of worship for the protestants as there was a growing number of protestants of German ethnicity in the city. By the King's decree the church could not resemble a Roman-Catholic house of worship in any way; so it was built without a spire, presbytery and lacking entrance from the main street.

Multium Gallery in Bratislava was an amazing experience! Although it’s not very big, it offers incredible optical illusions thanks to its mirror rooms. Each room has a unique effect – the one with infinite reflections fascinated me the most, making me feel like I was lost in another world. The staff was very friendly and helpful, which made the visit even more enjoyable. The whole tour takes only about 10–15 minutes, but if you want to take some creative photos, you can easily spend more time there. The gallery is great for both kids and adults, and since it’s located in the city center, it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in Bratislava. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique visual experience!

The museum is located next to Bratislava Castle. It is easy to find. The entrance fee is 5€ per person and there are 6 rooms with illusions. The employee gives you a map of the rooms. There are 3 rooms on the ground floor and the same number on the upper floor. The rooms are interesting.
Spase M — Google review
Quite an original place with nice mirror effects. It's small but the price is very low. Some rooms are better than others, the last one with a kind of planet effect, a big spheric light is pretty impressive.

Well worth the small sum of €5 entry fee. Six rooms with mirrors and one room with optical illusions. Just take your time and enjoy them.

Plenty of spotless toilets and clear navigation make it incredibly convenient. The sound quality is top-notch, enhancing any event, whether it’s sports, concerts, or performances. A highly recommended and well-designed arena!

Always fantastic atmosphere and experience to watch any kind of sport or event. The stadium is easy to reach and the view on the playground is great. Everything inside is easy to find because there is a lot of entrance/exit gates. There is also a snack bar but the prices are higher than outside of the stadium.

Yesterday we where at the IIHF WM and it was awesome. Very good organised, food and fan store's in and outside the arena. Clean toilets. Parking was the only problem, there are some parking lots around the building, but you have to watch if it's free or not...! Police are very helpful. So thanks for these great day, all of you. 🇸🇰👍🐻

Great experience with around 9000 fans The venue seats 10000. The world championships are hosted here this year in 2019 for ice hockey and the atmosphere was excellent. The smaller venue results in a much louder experience.

Good modern arena. Bathrooms were clean. Food selection was less than diverse or impressive but the team actually won that night so there was a lot of good energy.

The Cirque de soleil took place at the stadium, everything went fine except that the air conditioning was not working very well, so it was very hot inside, but the service was ok

We were here for the karate world championships. The stadium looks new. It is a beautiful arena. The seated area is clean and we'll made with padded seats. It was an ice hockey stadium the day before. Snacks were a little limited and sausage with bread and mustard was not To my taste but I'm sure it great for the local palate. Transport here is good with trams and buses right outside the door. Parked did seem limited but there was underground carpark at the Hilton around the corner. There are cafes and restaurants around the base and seem to be good. Prices were in keeping with type of venue but not bad for the international Traveller.

Nice and very clean arena with an interesting design. Not the biggest in the world but quite cozy. We went to visit the arena during the world championship and the arena bas full and the atmosphere was great. Could have more food options but other than that we are very pleased with our visit.

Comenius University Botanical Garden is a large and picturesque garden located on the left bank of the Danube, away from the tourist trail. It is open from April 1 to October 31 and features a variety of attractions such as greenhouses with exotic plants, a rosarium with 120 rose species, a Japanese garden, pine tree plantations, Mediterranean vegetation, Australian flora, rock gardens, and palm trees. Visitors can also enjoy summer concerts in this tranquil beauty spot.
The Botanical Garden in Bratislava is one of the hidden gems of the city. It is located a little further from the center, but it is worth coming. The ticket price is cheap. To see the whole garden well, you need to spend at least 1 hour here. There is greenery everywhere, and some places are like a jungle. I don't know plants and flowers very well, but I liked coming here. On the way from Devin Castle to the center, I got off the bus here and I didn't regret it. You can also get to the botanical garden by bus number 29. The garden is beautifully landscaped and maintained.
Spase M — Google review
I’m really glad I chose to visit this beautiful garden. It was incredibly stunning, and there were lots of little salamanders. Everything was nicely maintained, with plenty of beautiful flowers. If you’re looking for a cozy place to relax, this is the perfect spot. One thing that was truly amazing about the garden was the greenhouses they had. There were lots of cacti and even a rainforest. It was really exciting and cool to see. It felt just like being in a real jungle, and it was an awesome experience. It was also really nice that there were so many places to sit and relax in the garden. I’m super happy that I decided to visit the garden.
Christine F — Google review
Absolutely lovely place. Lots to see. I paid a tiny E1.50 to enjoy it all. The green houses with the cacti were especially good. Obviously, it was all in Slovak with no other language, but Latin plant names are there so all ok.
Catherine N — Google review
As a plant geek I really wanted to visit here, it seemed a little far out and was unsure. It was a few minutes by local tram!! I can’t remember exactly how much the entrance fee was, I think €4. It’s not the biggest botanical garden I’ve been to but it’s definitely worth a visit. The greenhouse had some amazing species and things I hadn’t seen in previous gardens I’ve visited so it was well worth the money and visit. There are toilets but no cafe, though there are machines you can buy water etc from. No gift shop either. For a trip out of the city and a must for any fellow plant geeks, my advice is VISIT!
Darren H — Google review
A wonderful experience. June is the perfect month for me, just in time to catch the roses and all the rest fully alive. I enjoyed the area around the lake and the glasshouse the most. But the whole park is worth it. Only downside: the constant traffic noise... Recommended when it's time to slow down and let your mind rest.
Christoph H — Google review
The Rose Garden was stunning, as was the cactae part of the greenhouse. Only minor criticism is that the circumferential path is in quite bad shape, i.e. bumpy and very cracked in places. This can't be helped, as it's a result of root growth under the path. Just a minor consideration for those with reduced mobility. All in all, a lovely experience, and a big well done to all invovled for its maintenance!
Sam W — Google review
A fantastic botanical garden with a breathtaking indoor jungle—lush greenery, exotic plants, and a truly immersive tropical atmosphere. The pathways wind through towering palms and vibrant foliage, making it feel like a real rainforest. The entire garden is beautifully maintained, with informative signs and peaceful surroundings. A perfect place to relax, explore, and enjoy nature. Outside there was a beautiful lake with fish, the flowers were also amazing, access was quite cheap and the toilets are clean and easily accessible.

The Museum of Jewish Culture in Bratislava, Slovakia, was established as a Jewish Culture Centre and later became an independent museum. It offers permanent exhibits that document local Jewish history, culture, and the Holocaust in the Slovak region. The museum showcases everyday objects used by the Jewish community, spiritual aspects of Judaism, and Jewish art. Visitors can explore numerous photos dedicated to the 70,000 victims of the Holocaust in this small yet significant museum.
Very interesting small museum. Detailed explanations of Jewish culture and traditions + exhibitions about personal stories. One of the best Jewish history museums I ever visited. Very logically organized exhibition.
Inna D — Google review
Found this place on my way to the castle and figured I'd visit. It goes over the history of Jews in Bratislava/Slovakia with personal memorabilia, pictures, personal stories, etc. For those who know nothing about Judaism, they go into some detail about the objects you're seeing and what they're for, as well as holidays. I learned a lot. Additionally on the top floor they have a cool exhibit on Jewish swim teams in Slovakia and some personal stories there as well. Overall would recommend visiting if you're interested in Judaism/Jews in Slovakia. Normally 5€, but if you come on the first Wednesday on the month it's free (as I found out coincidentally).
Ruthie R — Google review
A small and peaceful museum which allows for quiet reflection. Clearly labelled with all exhibits clearly explained with both Slovak and English text. Well worth a visit to better understand the history and lived experiences of Jewish Culture in Slovakia and the wider region.
Steve M — Google review
I am sure Bratislava's Jewish culture and history has a lot to offer, but the museum does not do much justice to this. The artefacts need a significantly more detailed description, maybe also delving more into their importance and symbolic meaning. It was a nice 1-hour-long visit, but could have been much longer if the exhibition had more descriptives to accompany it.

If you're in Bratislava, don't miss the war museum Bunker B-S 8. It's an interesting place to visit, and is easily reachable via public transportation or on foot from the city center. The bunker's appearance is deliberately unassuming, concealed in a hillside.
Owner was at event, however after a good 10 minutes wait he arrived. Experience was very interesting and fun, even with a slight language barrier. The bunker itself is very interesting, with many prices of gear and tech from ww2 and beyond. Overall very much worth it
Yeetr R — Google review
A fascinating piece of history covering pre WW2, during the war then the iron curtain and the cold war. Unfortunately we arrived just before a large American group and were told we had to wait even with a large time between the two halves of their group. It felt like one individual working there rather than the norm. Some great artifacts, but not great for understanding the usage and positioning. However, Banker 4 has some really good descriptions which make it all much clearer.
Gavin G — Google review
It’s amazing, once you get inside. There’s lots to see and it’s easily reachable on the bus. Go to the cemetery next door for more context, and walk down the track for 3mins and you have a photo opportunity at the border. Other bunkers are visitable nearby. I think it’s not always easy to get in even in the advertised hours (we were only let in by the son of the ‘manager’) so we didn’t get a guided tour, but there’s so much to see inside and Google Translate is helpful!
Ali P — Google review
What a hidden gem of history. We walked in from the main road to see the various border markings. You can drive there from the Austrian side so ignore google maps. And the tour guide was amazing. We don’t speak his language but we’re able to get by with his history lesson. Somehow google maps knew the hours or call ahead. We’ll worth going inside if you like history.
Michael J — Google review
As many reviewers have said, take the Google "opening times" with a pinch of salt and the guide didn't really speak English, so a bit of patience required, but between GCSE German and Google Translate we got by Well worth the short trip from Bratislava on the bus, good history lessons inside and out
Nick M — Google review
Beautifully restored bunker and WWI cementary behind it. It is definitely worth to check out those places because they will remind you heroic but sad history of european wars.
Michal D — Google review
Takes a bit of a walk from the bus station. Its nice and senic though. The bunker is preserved the location is big. The best part is the guide who told and explained everything in detalis.
Mil S — Google review
A great experience and worth the visit. It’s difficult to find though, Google Maps will try to bring you through a quarry/building site but that road is now closed. The tour costs €5 per person and the tour guide doesn’t speak English, so bring someone who can translate if you can. Still he tried his best with both of us using broken German and English. There’s a cemetery to World War 1 casualties beside it you can also see while you’re there.

The Slovak National Theatre (Historical Building) is a must-visit in Bratislava, Slovakia. This Neo-Renaissance-style building, opened in 1886 as the City Theater, is adorned with busts of famous composers and offers breathtaking performances at affordable prices. Located at Hviezdoslavovo square, it's one of the oldest professional theaters in Slovakia and can seat up to 1000 people.
This is Slovakia’s premier cultural institution, founded in 1920 and it has two main buildings: the historic Neo-Renaissance theater in the Old Town and the modern venue by the Danube. Hosting opera, ballet, and drama performances, it remains a symbol of Bratislava’s rich artistic and theatrical heritage.

One of the buildings in Bratislava with the most beautiful architecture is this one. It is beautiful both during the day and at night. In front of the entrance there is a beautiful fountain with a monument, which enriches the ambiance.

The Slovak National Theatre is a cultural gem offering opera, ballet, and drama in both its historic Old Town building and the modern riverside complex. The old theatre, with its elegant 19th-century architecture, is especially charming, while the new building hosts world-class performances in a sleek, spacious setting. Even if you don’t catch a show, both venues are worth admiring from the outside.

The Temple of St. Nicholas, also known as the Church of St. Nicholas, is a historic site located near the famous Bratislava Castle. Built in 1661 by Countess Frances Khuen, it showcases early Baroque architecture with Gothic influences and was supported by the Jesuit order of the Roman Catholic Church during the 17th century.
Wow really surprised! Didn’t expect Orthodox Church in that area. It is Slovakia Orthodox Church. Church building was given by Catholic Church (there are only 2 Orthodox churches in Bratislava and this is one of them). So it was fascinating to se mixture of Catholic walls and Orthodox signs and icons. There are Serbian saints as well at wall. Really recommend it.

An old church you can visit on your way to Bratislava castle. It is quite small and unfortunately not well preserved, you can see that the decorations are faded and the building has been damaged. Still you can find lots of images inside.
Özge E — Google review
The position, building style and previous purpose ans history makes of this church and its surroundings really sacred place. But, now it has been abandoned and left to turn in to the ruins. It is a real pity and shame of Bratislava government for leaving it like this.

Castle
SNM-Historical Museum in Bratislava, located on an artificial island in the Danube, is accessible by car, bike, or bus. It's housed in Bratislava Castle and showcases Slovakian history from prehistory to modern times. The castle itself is a must-see monument with exhibits on Celtic history and temporary exhibitions. The museum also offers free admission on specific days and documents the development of Slovakian society.
Excellent museum which is well worth spending several hours exploring. The displays are vast and cover several areas. There is also a great little cafe at the top of the castle to stop for a drink and snack while exploring.
Stuart — Google review
The museum is quite large. There are interesting exhibitions and boring ones too. There are temporary exhibitions. The interior is not interesting. My favorite part is the dungeon and the opportunity to climb the tower, which offers a beautiful view of the city, albeit through glass.
Witold D — Google review
This is a surprisingly detailed and extensive museum. I was surprised at the quality of the collection and the range of topics covered. The WWII section is very interesting and well done. Some of the special displays do cost extra to see, but the permanent collection is easily two hours of material. The castle can be a bit confusing to navigate, so make sure that you check each hallway in order not to miss anything.
Luca P — Google review
Very interesting and beautiful museum to visit. Worth a visit, it is free with the Bratislava city card. It’s big and has many rooms and artifacts to see. Staff is friendly. The view from the hill is also beautiful, sunset time especially.

In my opinion, the SNM-Historical Museum in Bratislava is an excellent museum that is definitely worth a visit. The museum's collection is rich in history and culture, and the exhibits are informative and well-curated. I particularly enjoyed the museum's beautiful gardens and the stunning views of Bratislava that they offer. The museum's staff is knowledgeable and helpful, and the layout is easy to navigate. While there is room for improvement in terms of the museum's signage and overall presentation, I would give it a rating of 4 out of 5 stars for its excellent content, beautiful gardens, and stunning views of Bratislava.
Dimitar G — Google review
It's okay, little bit disappointing when you arrive from Vienna with the amazing museums and castle. Quite expensive for what it is.

The courtyard and the surrounding towers and walk way are the only redeemable thing about this castle. The interior is mostly empty with paintings on most floors with the top floor being full of random stuff from the history of slovakia to commemorative coins. And the treasury room is filled with only silverware. It could have been better if not for the tickets that cost 33€ per person. All in all not worth the money.

Very extensive museum with eclectic artworks and interesting exhibitions. The Palace is joined together with the city hall museum, so it's a bit mixed. The exhibits are varied and need some time to really absorb the value of them all. Try reading as much as possible so you'll gain the insight necessary to really appreciate the artists work. I used my Bratislava card so the entrance fee was included.
Marcus S — Google review
The palace is part of the building complex of the Old Town Hall, in fact it's quite difficult to understand where one ends and the other one starts because the rooms are all connected on the inside. The ticket, together with that of Old Town Hall, costs 8€ but it's free with Bratislava Card.
Francesco X — Google review
This museum is located in the palace of the former Hungarian Noble Apponyi family. As the name suggests, the museum is laid out with furnishing when the family lived there. The museums covers all the rooms you’d expect from a house and each room also has some description of the items in the room. The furnishing are a nice mix of Rococo and French Empire style. I paid for a combined ticket when visiting the Bratislava City Museum which got me into this and the Museum of Viticulture. The museum is worth a look as part of the combined ticket and if you’ve not seen examples of this kind of building, but not a must-see.

The Primatial Palace in Bratislava is a stunning classicist building that hosts city council meetings and opens its second floor to the public. Visitors can admire royal tapestries from 1630, period furniture from the 18th and 19th centuries, and the grandeur of the Hall of Mirrors.

This was a "bite size" view of a bigger complex. It was lovely and we enjoyed it. At €6 for two it was very affordable. Their was English audio available, which we appreciated. The numbering system wasn't logical but it didn't matter. Worth seeing.

The Primatial Palace is a stunning neoclassical landmark in Bratislava, best known for its elegant architecture and the famous Hall of Mirrors. Inside, you’ll find beautiful tapestries, historical artifacts, and grand halls that once hosted important political events. It’s centrally located in the Old Town, making it an easy and worthwhile stop. The highlight is the ornate interior and the connection to Slovakia’s rich history, though the visit is usually quick (about 30–45 minutes).

On a Saturday morning, we legitimately had the palace to ourselves. Nice restoration job but it is very obvious that the authentic furnishings and furniture have long since gone. Still a pretty place and worth the small entrance fee. Audioguides are available as part of the ticket purchase and in multiple languages

Superb 18 century Palace This is a really nice palace to visit. It will not take you to long but will show you the elegance & 'raffinement' that existed in that century. We particularly liked to outdoor part with the fountain and Lion part. This is well worth your time, highly recommended visit.

The Primatial Palace in Bratislava is a stunning neoclassical palace built in the late 18th century. Famous for its Hall of Mirrors and beautiful tapestries, it served as the residence of the Archbishop of Esztergom. Today, it hosts concerts and official events, but visitors can also tour the palace outside of events. Its elegant façade and historic charm make it one of Bratislava’s most photogenic landmarks.

The modern boat provides comfortable seating, an onboard cafe, and even fast wifi. Travelers have praised the professional crew and the opportunity to enjoy drinks and snacks in the captain's lounge.
Excellent way to travel between cities. From Vienna to Bratislava Slovakia in under 90 minutes. High speed, smooth, very comfortable seating (especially in the Captain's Lounge, upper deck). They sell good food and drinks. Great service.

A perfect way to travel between Vienna and Bratislava! The boat was very comfortable with nice seats and air conditioning. Tickets were not too expensive- we paid €25 each way for ours. You’re able to walk around the boat to take pictures, use the bathrooms, and buy drinks and snacks. Getting on the boat was easy, they scanned our tickets but did not look at passports. The trip takes about 1.5 hours.

Amazing experience, however prices are high in the boat as expected. Cappuccino: 5.5€ small cup Go for it. Several landmarks to see on the way, plus all the cargos going around which supplies good part of europe. This boat is a beast. Fast and comfortable. Great experience so far

Very pleasant and easy catamaran that took us from Bratislava to Vienna. We paid the 54€ each and the upstairs is more spacious and more comfortable. We had to store our belongings in the back of the boat which made it easy to load and unload.

They tell you boarding starts 30 mins before departure but you spend pretty much 25 minutes out of it in cold waiting and they start boarding 5 mins before departure. You think you pay for seats assigned and there is a bunch of other people occupying your spots. The journey itself is nice but TBH, not worth the money, better take train or bus. Ovepriced, low value for money. Cherry on top: 4 EUR for 0.5l of still water.

The House of the Good Shepherd, often referred to as the Museum of Clocks, is a popular tourist attraction in Bratislava. The museum contains a collection of clocks from around the world.
The clocks are beautiful, they worth the visit. The museum is not big, but rich in clocks. The only reason for the 4 stars, is that the light conditions are very poor, due to the reflection of the the protective glass, this should be somehow improved. Ticket prices 3€ normal and 2€ reduced (student etc.)

Nice old house with small museum of historical clocks inside. The clocks are from different eras so and there are 3 floors dedicated to these time machines. Not much time to be spent there since it's basically just these clock and very short description however it's kind of cool to see something that is not in use anymore.

River Park is a modern neighborhood in Bratislava that has emerged as a result of the city's construction boom. It combines residential, office, and commercial spaces along the Danube embankment. The area features notable landmarks such as the Maria Terezia statue and unique sculptures like the Lion made from tires. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood and explore attractions like the Pantha Rhei book store.
Nice place for a walk, lot's of nice statues (Maria Terezia statue, Lion from tyres,...) My advice is to go there after like 10am and if you're hungry or just thirsty go to the Hotel River Park or the Japanese restaurant. Also worth mentioning is the Pantha Rhei book store but I'm not sure if you can find a good literature in English 🙄

Outstanding modern architecture of 3 apartment buildings designed by Zaha Hadid Architects sits near the old town and the bank of Danube. It is situated on newly growing and developing urban area. People can enjoy quality public space such as wonderful landscape design, several shops, cafeteria, outdoor gym, kids playground, etc. Visitors' garage parking is available via Tovarenska street and cost 2€/hr. We've had a take-away coffee near kids playground and was brilliant. Playground is good equipped, so gym is. Only some details looks wretched/ground metal surface divider is mostly exposed and dangerous, ramp for bikers or bench for seating?/.

PS: I can overlook all the flaws in the apartment and the lack of coffee or even a "welcome" glass of water, but I can't get over the cockroaches found in the bedroom. I'm disgusted. Nestled in Gurban Square, the Holy Trinity Church, officially known as the Church of Saint John of Matha and Saint Felix of Valois, is a breathtaking Baroque-style Catholic church that enchants visitors with its rich history and stunning architecture. Constructed by the Trinitarian Order between 1717 and 1727 on the site of St. Michael's Cathedral, this gem has witnessed significant historical moments, including declarations of state independence.
One of the greatest church in Bratislava. After reconstruction it become much more spectacular. Really recommend! Open only during holy masses (Monday - Sunday 17.00, Sunday also at 9.00).
Tomáš G — Google review
The Church of the Holy Trinity in Bratislava is a serene and understated place of worship in the heart of the Old Town. Built in a classical style, it features a simple white interior with a modest altar and minimal decoration, creating a peaceful and contemplative atmosphere. Its calm simplicity stands in contrast to the busy streets nearby. The church is usually closed to the public and only opens for regular services, which adds to its quiet, almost hidden character. When open, it offers a rare opportunity to experience genuine stillness and spiritual reflection in an authentic historical setting. Though often overlooked by tourists, it’s a meaningful stop for those who appreciate simplicity, sacred silence, and the quiet beauty of Bratislava’s spiritual heritage.

The Crematorium and urn grove in Lamac is a significant architectural marvel, being the first post-war building declared a national cultural monument in Slovakia. Designed by architect Ferdinand Milucky, it harmoniously blends with the surrounding forest. The serene environment offers a peaceful setting for final farewells, accommodating both civil and Catholic ceremonies with pleasant music accompaniment. However, some visitors note challenges such as an uphill climb to the ceremony room and maintenance issues like potholes in the parking area.
(Translated by Google) It is a place immersed in greenery, although no one comes here for the experience, but out of respect for the survivors. The parking space is sufficient, but with a lot of potholes on the driveway. It can be seen that the "tooth of time" has taken its toll. It is possible to buy flowers. Vidno, že "zub času" urobil svoje. Je tu možnosť zakúpenia kvetov.

(Translated by Google) A nice place to say goodbye, but the staff is very unprofessional and insensitive to the bereaved. Mr. Obradník, in his pulled-up sweater and pants, mumbled as much as he could and, above all, swallowed every last word in the sentences. During the preparation of the ceremony, a photographer came and literally started selling his services through emotions, while we had already arranged and paid for everything. He left in disgust when we declined his services. They go about their business there, literally over corpses. I encourage everyone to bring their own person to read the eulogy, it really does such a small miracle. Their celebrants will also perform the civil funeral in pathos and in such a religious singsong voice. In my opinion, this building should be neutral and not belong to Marianum. Then, if you arrange the entire funeral in another funeral company, they pretend that you are not wanted there. I mean, I don't know how they treat their clients, but it will probably be the same. Because it's about people. It's a shame, especially for that beautiful place. Počas vybavovania obradu prišiel fotograf a doslova začal predávať cez city svoje služby, pričom sme už všetko mali dojednané a zaplatné. Znechutene odišiel, keď sme jeho služby odmietli. Idú si tam svoj biznis, doslova cez mŕtvoly. Odprúčam každému priniesť si vlastného človeka, čo prečíta smútočnú reč, naozaj to spraví taký malý zázrak. Ich obradníci aj civilný pohreb prednesú v pátose a takým tým náboženským spevavým hlasom. Podľa mňa táto budova by mala byť neutrálna a nepatriť pod Marianum.

One of the most awarded is the Crematorium and Urn Grove in Bratislava, which is a national cultural monument. He worked on the Bratislava crematorium project, the first in Slovakia, from 1962 to 1968. The crematorium bears all the characteristic features of Milučky's perception of architecture, which is dominated by the principle of several parallel walls. His goal was to create the most abstract architecture possible, freed from construction details. (Original) Podľa vlastných slov počas celého tvorivého života zápasil o kvalitu. (Translated by Google) We visit the Urn Grove Crematorium often. The first thing that strikes me and certainly other visitors is the road, or rather a small unmaintained section between the other maintained asphalt road. Incomprehensible holes. Then the sidewalk with cobblestones in the area, recently repaired and there are still sections without tiles with dangerous pits. The fact that the urns with monuments are in an old forest is not surprising. The trees, sometimes young, healthy, have grown old and now there is a constant danger above the heads of visitors in the form of falling branches. Forest animals eat all live flowers and devastate artificial ones by tearing them up and scattering them over the area of the grave sites. We find a mess on every major holiday. However, we should highlight the clean toilets, running water and the possibility of purchasing flower decorations as well as ordering ceremonies. The parking lot is large and during times of large visits there is a meadow available on both sides and the regulation of visits by the police. The area also has many relaxation areas and during green season it is a nice place to sit and meditate.
