Znojmo Underground offers a unique experience with costumed figures and guided tours through a large medieval labyrinth, likely used for goods storage. The tour provides insight into Znojmo's history and includes displays of brewing equipment, materials, and fairytales. Visitors can expect an engaging experience led by knowledgeable guides who share interesting facts about the town's traditions. Despite some issues with online ticket purchases, many have found the tour to be well worth their time.
We had tourists guide, named Jindřiška, which took us on basic circuit of the guided tours, and it was amazing. The tour took us about 45 minutes instead of classical 1 hour it’s about 750m long. You will experience labyrinth maze, torture room, fortune well of fulfilling wishes, many different fairytales displayed, and illustrations of historical specifics about this biggest Czech underground world! Especially for Jindřiška I have fill additional, and separate review, her experiences to make the tour magically wonderful are really worthy benefit to the museum. She had amazing special kind of humor I don’t think something which will drive your spirits and woke interests in you about the discussed/lectured questions themes could be learned and you had to be born with that kind of skill! Big REP+ for her! And many kind thanks!

in Znojmo. It’s fascinating to learn about the history and practical uses of the underground spaces, from storing food and wine to serving as a hidden escape route in times of need. The details shared throughout the tour are impressive, and it really gives you a sense of how important these tunnels were. The English audio guide was also very helpful in providing context and enhancing the experience.
Mai A — Google review
A wonderful attraction and a must-see when visiting Znojmo! The guided tour is in Czech only, but when purchasing your ticket, you can choose an audio guide available in several foreign languages. The Czech guide is very friendly and makes sure to remind international visitors to switch the numbers on their devices. Overall, it is a really enjoyable experience. It is recommended to reserve your ticket online in advance, as space is limited. You will then pay and collect your ticket on-site.
Maja B — Google review
Very interesting your with a multi-lingual guide. We did the adrenaline tour which anyone can take unless they’re claustrophobic.
Brian W — Google review
Great experience and history deep dive. The price includes audio guides in your preferred language.
Davide P — Google review
We went on a guided tour and the guy who led it was very knowledgeable and funny as well. We learned a lot about Znojmo's history, it was defintiely time well spent. The only issue is that although you can buy tickets online, the information on the website is not correct - we tried to buy tickets and there were none available for the time we selected, but when we went to the cash office (to try our luck) there were still a few tickets available.

St. Nicholas' Deanery Church in Znojmo is a beautiful and historically rich landmark with a peaceful and contemplative atmosphere. The church boasts stunning art, architecture, frescoes, paintings, and decorated windows. It also houses the bones of St. Boniface and the mummy of an unknown holy man. Situated on a hill overlooking the city and the valley, it offers a picturesque location for visitors to enjoy.
Outside did not look impressive, but once you step inside the church, you will see the beautiful Romanesque style decorations everywhere. Highly recommended visit. St. Nicholas is notable dominant of Znojmo, to be seen on practically all panoramas of the town along with the town hall tower. Its consecration to St. Nicholas, the patron of merchants, is connected to the peripheral merchant settlement called Újezdec, which existed around the church since the end of the 11th century. The name St. Nicholas appears on the coins of the Znojmo principality's duke Litold around year 1100. In 1190, the originally Romanesque church was donated by duke Conrad Otto to the newly founded Louka abbey.

Historical landmark
The entrance to the Rotunda of St. Catherine in Znojmo is a must-visit during the tourist season from April to September. This ancient monument, dating back to the 11th century, is the only remaining part of a castle that once housed the Premyslid dynasty. Inside, visitors can marvel at well-preserved frescoes from 1134, offering a rare glimpse into Romanesque paintings in the Czech Republic.
(Translated by Google) In my opinion, one of the most valuable historical architectural monuments of the Czech Republic. It was erected in the 11th century. It is painted with frescoes depicting scenes from the Bible and the Přemyslid family, who ruled Znojmo at that time. According to the research of historians, the rotunda of St. Catherine served as a chapel in the castle. Near the rotunda there is one of the observation platforms, which offers a magnificent view of the river and the Catholic Church of St. Nicholas.

(Translated by Google) The duration of the visit does not exceed 15 minutes, and unfortunately it is not possible to view all the paintings thoroughly enough in that time. !! No talking or photography is allowed inside the rotunda. Since there is not even a live guide available (you only get a talking device), the ticket price is a bit overpriced". One costs CZK 150. Attention, you also have to pay this price for an infant! Absolute nonsense and a trap for tourists, and then they also receive subsidies for the maintenance of monuments. An unnecessary entrance fee that does not correspond to the tour and its quality. (Original) Délka návštěvy nepřesahuje 15 minut, a za tu dobu nelze, bohužel, si dost důkladně prohlédnout všechny malby. !!

City Hall
The Town Hall Tower in Znojmo offers a well-preserved historical experience with a significant view of the city and its surroundings, especially on clear days. Visitors can climb the spiral staircase to reach the top where they can enjoy panoramic views and learn about the landmarks through an electronic guide. The tower's unique features, such as optical effects on the wall and Gothic architecture, make it a must-see attraction for those exploring Znojmo.
It's quite a unique tower, both in walking up and how it looks from the outside. It's very old and the 110 stairs to walk up are quite steep, made of mostly wood. The views from (almost) the top are stunning. You actually don't go all the way to the top but only to the enclosed area where you open windows to see outside. Very cool. Highly recommend when visiting Znojmo.
Paul H — Google review

(Translated by Google) The Town Hall Tower in Znojmo is considered a symbol of this city. It was built in 1447-1448 by the builder Mikuláš of Sedlešovice. Its height is 66.5 m and from the gallery you can see the city and the surroundings. The building is built on a rock and its foundations are up to 3 meters deep. The original Gothic tower from 1260 burned down and in 1445-48 a new one was built by the builder Mikuláš of Sedlešovice. The tower has been repaired several times, as well as the tower dome and clock. The Town Hall Tower has a very interesting turret roof, which was originally covered with slate. Most of the supporting beams under the roof of the tower are still original - over 500 years old! Znojmo Brewery, located in south Moravia, has a rich history dating back to 1720 when the first brewery was established within the castle's first courtyard. Although it closed in 2009, beer production resumed in 2015. The town obtained the right to brew beer in 1278 and currently focuses on producing mostly non-filtered steady brands along with several special brews annually, boasting a planned yearly capacity of 10,000 hl.

We ate here around 13:00 on a Saturday. The restaurant is popular and was very busy. The surroundings and interior is very impressive. Waiting staff were pleasant. However, we waited over 45 minutes for our food. I ordered the Candat (fish) and my companion had a steak. The candat was bland and there are no salt & peppers on the tables, so I couldn’t improve it. Luckily the accompanying lentils and sauce were tasty. My companion’s meal was adequate but swimming in sauce. He could have done with a spoon or bread to mop it all up. On the other hand, the beer and burgers seemed popular. So perhaps we made bad menu choices. For 2 people eating just a main course and non alcoholic drinks it was over 1000 Kč.

Located on the southern side of Lower Square, the Church of Saint John the Baptist is part of a Capuchin monastery complex that was completed in 1632. The church features a typical Capuchin single-nave design with a simple yet elegant interior. The altar displays an image by Austrian artist Johann Lukas Kraker. Visitors describe it as a charismatic and beautiful spiritual place, making it an ideal spot to attend mass and start the day.
(Translated by Google) On the southern side of Lower (now Masaryk) Square, on the site of several demolished houses, in June 1628, in the presence of Emperor Ferdinand II, a Capuchin monastery complex with the Church of St. John the Baptist (Kostel svatého Jana Křtitele). Construction was completed in 1632. The temple has a typical Capuchin single-nave plan with a rectangular altar and modest decoration. The image on the altar is of the hand of the Austrian artist Johann Lukas Kraker. The square building of the monastery is adjacent to the church on the southwestern side. In the gap between the monastery complex and the inner city wall, a Baroque monastery garden was created. In 1754, a chapel was built in the wall separating the monastery from the square, which depicts a scene from the Mount of Olives. The monastery belonged to the Capuchin Order until 1950. Later a tourist hostel was founded here. The monastery is currently awaiting its future use.

Nice restaurant close to the city centre. Waiters were very professional, prices reasonable, and dishes were very good. Tables are too close to each other, and TV on both sides takes a lot of attention, which disturbs privacy and personal contact. I'm not quite sure if this place should be considered as a restaurant or pub.

We visited for lunch on Sunday, 14.09. 2025. Very disappointed in the quality of food, and also believe it or not - the bier! I would never believe it if someone told me I could have bad bier in Czech Republic. The dark bier they brought tasted diluted, stale and lukewarm. I had mushroom risoto for lunch, which looked more like some rice soup, with rice being really overcooked. My husband had some "knedlíky", also stale, probably just reheated and served. We both had stomach problems after the meal, with the feeling of being nauseated that lasted well into the night. I am posting this for everyone to see and be aware when making their choice of eating places. Hopefully it will bring on some improvement for the future guests!

This Italian restaurant is definitely the best in Znojmo. I've never had risotto quite like the one I had, with pulled pork and parmesan on top. Very large drink/wine menu. Friendly staff. Dogs welcome inside. Outdoor seating too. Reasonable prices. Lots of tvs, good for sport lovers. Highly recommend.

Znojmo Rotunda, the oldest building in town dating back to the 11th century, offers guided tours for visitors to explore its rich history and beautiful ornaments that depict the early Czech statehood. The rotunda of St. Catherine features delicate wall paintings from the late 11th century, which are well-preserved but can only be viewed under certain weather conditions. Visitors are provided with an audio guide as speaking inside is prohibited.
Amazing experience and wonderful views over the old over Znojmo. Great place and piece of Czech history. But shame they won’t have the rotunda open but apparently it’s for preservation reasons.

The rotunda of St. Catherine has been build in the middle of 11th century and the wall paintings inside are from the end of the 11th century. The paintings are very frail so the visit to the rotunda is limited based on the weather conditions. The paintings are beautiful and well preserved and it is a strong experience to see them in person. Inside it is forbidden to speak so audio guide is provided which is very good.

The former monastery within the South Moravian Museum in Znojmo holds a greater allure than its museum counterpart. Particularly on the ground floor and in the garden, a significant portion of its original features have been preserved, making it well worth a visit. The exhibition itself is rather captivating, with an interesting array of displays. Additionally, the museum boasts an outstanding children's section with numerous interactive activities to engage young visitors. One can easily spend three hours exploring all that this museum has to offer.
(Translated by Google) Pleasant environment, nice and helpful ladies at the entrance. There is a trivia game for children and in each exhibit there is a box with different items related to the theme that children can try and play with. Modern interactive museum. We are sorry that we had limited time for the visit, as we had already purchased tickets for the Znojmo underground. We would spend a lot more time there. In addition, with a pleasant bonus - the cool temperature of the historic walls of the monastery is very pleasant in the summer heat. (Original) Příjemné prostředí, milé a nápomocné dámy u vstupu.

The Pravoslavný Kostel Svatého Rostislava, located in Znojmo, is a historic church that was built in 1910-1911 by the Viennese architect Ludwig Feigl. Originally intended for German Evangelicals and Lutherans, it is now consecrated as Orthodox.

(Translated by Google) When, after the construction of the railway in 1871 and the approval of a modern regulatory plan, Znojmo began to expand beyond the circle of medieval walls and suburbs, a new development of apartment buildings and townhouses gradually grew in the axes of today's Roosevelt Avenue and November 17th Avenue. Today's Otmar Chlupa Square became the central point of this new urban district called Nové Sady. In the middle of it you will find an Evangelical church built in the art nouveau style between 1910-11. The author of the building was the Viennese architect Ludwig Faigl. After the displacement of the Germans from Znojmo, the church was donated to the Czechoslovak Church, and then in 1995 it was donated to the Orthodox Church. She had the church reconstructed and had it dedicated to Saint Rostislav of Moravia. Ta nechala chrám rekonstruovat a nechala jej zasvětit svatému Rostislavu Moravskému.

The central point of this new urban district, called New Gardens, was the modern Otmar Chlup Square, where in 1910-1911 the Viennese architect Ludwig Feigl built a new church with a high tower. It was ordered by the local community of German Protestants (Lutherans). Thanks to its constructive style, the new building was declared neo-Renaissance using progressive Art Nouveau elements. After the expulsion of the Germans from Znojmo, the church was not used for a long time. Only at the end of the 20th century did this unusual city landmark pass into the hands of the local Orthodox community, which renovated it, provided it with new icons and dedicated it to St. Rostislav. Every Sunday at 9:00 a service is held here.

Slepičák - restaurace a vinný bar is a charming and cozy restaurant located in Znojmo, offering an extensive menu of traditional Czech dishes. The modern setting provides a pleasant atmosphere for diners to enjoy their meals, which are complemented by an impressive selection of wines. Despite its somewhat hidden location in a side alley near the Znojmo underground, visitors are consistently delighted by the excellent food and wine offerings at this establishment.
We came with a big group rather late. At first they were shocked a little bit, but welcomed us and served very politely and quickly. I was afraid of confusion (that happens with big groups usually), but the dinner went very smoothly and the food was very good and well served. Would strongly recommend for everyone.

We came especially for the St. Martin goose menu. That was served very quickly and tasted very good. We had a nice dark beer to go with it. As for the restaurant, we used to come there when it was just a lunch cafeteria. This intriguing structure features two chapels stacked one above the other: the lower chapel dedicated to St. Martin and the upper one to St. Anne, showcasing a blend of Gothic and late Costic styles from the early 16th century.
Nice hostoric display inside. Plus, some grear views from the outside

(Translated by Google) Chapel of St. Vaclav is located right next to the much larger church dedicated to St. Nikoli. The chapel was built on a rock above the river at the beginning of the 16th century in the late Costic style. Entrance is free. In the chapel you can see a small baroque altar, beautiful Gothic arches and windows, as well as an exhibition dedicated to churches and chapels in this part of the Czech Republic. Around the chapel there is a covered terrace with an excellent view of the river, the surroundings and other parts of the city. (Original) Kapela Sv. Vaclava se nalazi odmah pored mnogo veće crkve posvećene Sv. Nikoli.

(Translated by Google) Another interesting and not entirely typical building in our territory. It is actually two chapels built one above the other. The older lower chapel is dedicated to St. Martin, Upper St. Anne. The building was named "St. Wenceslas Chapel" after the statue of St. Wenceslas on the facade. The donor was Kateřina z Budčice, a burgher from Znojmo, who had the lower chapel repaired and the upper one added in 1521. Chapel of St. Anny is glazed with a late Gothic circular vault, which is the only one of its kind in Moravia. The figural reliefs of saints that complement it were created in 1602. From the balcony there is a beautiful view of the Dyje valley. In the neighborhood of the chapel there was a Romanesque courtyard, of which a substantial part of the lower part is still preserved, hidden under the terrain before the entrance to the building - its octagonal plan is marked in the pavement between the chapel and the neighboring church. In the 13th century, two-story carneries used to be a typical part of cemeteries in Lower Austria and South Moravia. The above-ground part was the chapel, the underground part was the ossuary.

One of my favourite places and "love on first sight". Partially also because this area is not so crowded like other interesting locations, even there is so much nice places in area (hope it will stay that way even when you all will come to see .. one at a time :) ). (Translated by Google) A fine theater with excellent acoustics for spoken theater. The building itself appears to be relatively well preserved and in its original condition. The seats in the gallery are folding wooden chairs, not particularly ideal for long legs, and are also hard and somewhat uncomfortable; it's best to bring a seat cushion. The view from the gallery is very good. There are also restrooms in the gallery: a men's restroom on the left and two women's restrooms on the right. A program booklet costs around €3.60. There are a few seats in front of the theater, nestled in a park. The atmosphere is fantastic. There is one small negative: there is apparently no ventilation in the auditorium; it gets stuffy over time, but the air is removed during the intermission. The performance itself was "The Pain in the Ass" - the acting was tremendous, very entertaining, and entertaining. To conjure so much on stage with so little is an enormous feat! Parking is available across the street, but it fills up quite quickly before the performance begins. All in all, a fantastic evening!

Tourist information center
Visitor center
Turistické informační centrum, Obroková is a small information center located near the Kopal monument in Znojmo. The knowledgeable team offers the best recommendations for exploring the city, including tours of historic sites like the castle fortifications. Visitors can also find interesting souvenirs and Turisticke Vizitky at this pleasant location.
Very nice staff that helped us with all our requests.

Horrible. Only one woman in the shop who spoke English and she was unbelievably rude to us. We asked for information about bicycling through vineyards as we were told Znojmo is wonderful for this and she immediately started talking about the national park and insisting that we needed to buy a map. When we clarified that we weren’t interested in hiking through the park, she became exasperated and began treating us like children. The woman actually raised her voice and wouldn’t let us talk! She then told us that we were in the wrong town and if we wanted to cycle through vineyards we needed to go elsewhere. I’ve never had such a terrible experience at a tourist information center.

Emplaced in a very beautiful street. They sell Turistické Vizitky in addition to some other interesting souvenirs. There are bathrooms in the corner, not inside the tourist information shop.

(Translated by Google) For Znojmo (corporate tour) we chose the excellent guide Mr. Barák and his colleague. It is located in the small Info near the Kopal monument. For two hours, they prepared for us an excellent mix of historical and contemporary stories, which will survive in us for a long time and entice us to visit Znojmo again. Hi Znojmo! Ahoj Znojmo!

(Translated by Google) A pleasant place in a pleasant city. Historic streets, castle, rotunda, underground, brewery and other tourist attractions. Nice evening tours. We recommend the "bone" of excellent wine directly at the Lahofer tasting booth in the Rajske vineyard under the church of Saint Mikulas a short distance above Dyji with pleasant seating and a beautiful view. And visiting the Loucke cluster, of course, also for wine. (Original) Prijemne misto v prijemnem meste. Historicke ulicky, hrad, rotunda, podzemi, pivovar a dalsi turisticke atrakce. Pekne vecerni prohlidky.

(Translated by Google) Great organic wines. I suggest writing the opening hours or an open sign on the glass door, so that it can be seen from the road for passing tourists who don't know it here and want to buy wine directly from the winemaker 😉 When you look through the glass, you can't see anyone. Just a wine rack. Fortunately, after a while a nice lady opened the door for us and let's go on. We gave a speech about wines, a broom and left with four bottles 🍷☺️ (Original) Skvělá bio vína.

(Translated by Google) Please, you have to go to this small, family-run winery. If you are lucky enough to be able to speak with Kamila (granddaughter of the founder) she will accompany you to see this beautiful winery excavated in a rock. I was reluctant to try the "Orange wine" but I was VERY pleasantly surprised. A total success. Congratulations for making visitors so happy with a sincere smile and providing quality products at very competitive prices. In addition, they will send us 12 bottles of assorted wine from their winery to Mallorca. What more could you ask for?

(Translated by Google) Recommended! A warm welcome, delicious wines tasted in a beautiful ambiance with incredibly nice people from this family business. It's that we have a small car otherwise we would have bought more bottles. Also very nice: the organic skin oil from grape seeds. You wouldn't say it could be purer. Luckily it still fit in the car. 🤗 Also nice to tour around the vineyards in this beautiful area! (Original) Aanrader!

Amazing information from the history of the winery and the family, exhaustive information about the wines. We were definitely not here for the last time. Many thanks. Nice little chapel, only 20 minutes of hike up from the creek and maybe 30 minutes from St. Nicholas. The view from this chapel pver looking the river, the mountains and the castle were totally work the little hike. You can freely forage for some Blackthorn berries and baby plums while you are there. They are on the public road, not on the private farmland of owners.
