Eastbourne Pier, a traditional Victorian structure, was built in 1866 and officially opened in 1870. However, it wasn't fully completed until 1872 due to various setbacks including a storm that swept away half of the pier in 1877. The pier is approximately 300 meters long and features various amenities such as amusements, fish and chips shops, a cafe/bar, and an events venue.
Lovely place to spend the day. You can go for a lovely walk along the coast or sit and enjoy the sea. Of course you are also quite close to the town centre so you can spend some Time and money of course getting your retail therapy. We went for a walk along the sea front towards the pebble garden. Unfortunately, it wasn’t that exciting so I wouldn’t recommend you do the walk solely for that. And it’s much quieter along that side. We were lucky when we visited to see a vintage car exhibition after we parked up. Some fantastic vehicles which you will see from the images. They quite often have something going on in that area so would be worth checking it out in advance. A good day was had despite the long walk.

Eastbourne Pier is a must-visit destination if you're in the area! The pier beautifully blends Victorian charm with modern-day attractions, offering stunning views of the sea and coastline, especially during sunset. What really impressed me was the variety of food options available right on the pier. From traditional fish and chips to sweet treats and ice creams, there's something for everyone — and the best part? There are several halal food options available too, which is fantastic for Muslim visitors. I came across a few spots serving halal burgers, grilled chicken, and even doner kebabs — all clearly labeled and freshly prepared. The food was not only delicious but also reasonably priced, making it a great place for a casual meal with a view. There are also plenty of seating areas to enjoy your food while soaking in the sea breeze. In addition to the food, the pier has amusement arcades, souvenir shops, and a lovely tea room, making it a great place to spend a few hours with family or friends. Everything was clean and well-maintained, and the staff at the food outlets were friendly and helpful. All in all, Eastbourne Pier offers a complete experience — scenic views, great food (with halal options!), and fun activities. Highly recommended for families, couples, and solo travelers alike.
Zeeshan Q — Google review
Very nice place for a stroll and some family time. Went for the airbourne show this year and it is definitely a must see every year. Personally, I enjoy going to Eastbourne pier on a regular basis as it is fun and parking is not difficult. The seaside is lovely and there's plenty of places to have a snack.
Soraia C — Google review
Lovely four day break, nice hotel, nice clean town, pleasant local people. Great shops, great pier ,well looked after, with plenty of seating. Nice bar and fish and chips while listening to live music. Worth a visit.

Eastbourne pierThe structure of Eastbourne pier is a remarkable feat of engineering, stretching gracefully into the sea. Visitors can enjoy a variety of attractions and entertainment options along its length. It has become a beloved landmark, offering stunning views of the coastline. The pier's history has seen moments of triumph and resilience, shaping its enduring presence. A stroll along the pier is a delightful experience for all ages.
MD C — Google review
Beautiful Victorian pier with cafés and arcades. A lovely place for a stroll and to enjoy the sea views. Can feel a bit touristy, but still very charming.
Alena O — Google review
I recently visited Eastbourne Pier and was genuinely impressed by how beautiful and peaceful it was. The pier stretches gracefully out into the sea, offering stunning views of the coastline and the endless blue water. Whether you’re taking a slow walk, snapping some photos, or just sitting down to enjoy the breeze, it’s a lovely spot to relax and unwind. The architecture of the pier is charming, with its classic British seaside feel — clean, well-maintained, and full of character. On a sunny day, the whole place lights up with a calm, cheerful vibe that makes it perfect for both quiet moments and fun outings with friends or family. There are small shops, cafés, and places to grab snacks, and even though it’s not overly commercialized, it still has everything you need for a relaxing afternoon. We took some great photos here — the contrast of the blue sea, the sky, and the white railings made every shot look postcard-worthy. Overall, Eastbourne Pier is a beautiful little escape from the busy city life. Whether you’re local or just visiting, it’s definitely worth spending some time here. Highly recommended if you love the sea and classic coastal charm.

Pier was ok, some shops were closed. There's a bar towards the end of the pier with live music outside on brighter days. Good view of the airshow too.

Beachy Head, located in East Sussex, England, is renowned for its stunning panoramic views and iconic white chalk cliffs. As Britain's highest chalk cliff, it offers walking paths and is home to a 19th-century lighthouse. Situated in the Southern Downs National Park between Seaford and Eastbourne, this picturesque area is perfect for witnessing breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.
Beautiful location for a walk. Wonderful views of the cliffs and a nice beach walk as well. It is quite touristy so there was quite a few people when I visited however the space as wide open you don’t feel too crowded. There’s a cafe and a museum close to the beach. Don’t get too close to the cliffs even though it seems sturdy! Just don’t do it. Xoxo

Beautiful hiking trails next to the white cliffs. Be prepared for stunning views !
Magdalena — Google review
Beachy Head is stunning—towering white cliffs, sweeping sea views, and a lighthouse that looks like it belongs on a postcard. The cliffs are dramatic, but so is the drop, so don’t get cocky for Instagram. Seagulls are the true locals here, so keep an eye on your chips. Overall, it’s breathtaking—both from the scenery and the gale-force wind. Luckily I went during a heat-wave and it was baking hot, it was fantastic going up and down the rolling, virgin chalk bluffs packed with tourist groups alongside one another, and felt quite communal in a sense- like we were all pilgrims on a journey to the ice-cream shop at the endpoint. I loved it, it was an exceptional hike. The only downer? A quid to use the bogs and fill up your hydration bottle, what a scam but hey, that's England now or so I'm told. Mercifully there were enough brambles in season that I could pick wild blackberries on the way back down instead and curtail my thirst.

Great place. Real history. Dedicated staff. In need of funds to really put it on the map. Small cafe and shop.

A nice hystoric place to visit. Very nice views from the top. I've been on Sunday late and was only few visitors but I guess you can also get into the rooms and to see more. Facilities are offered as a toilet, few benches with tables and also you have a variety of products from small shops from inside as coffee, juices, icecreams, cakes and more. It's nice to visit as a small group with or without kids. I recomend it and for sure I'll be back to visit and relax watching the surroundings and the sea from the top. Have a good day you all! 👍
Bogdan E — Google review
It is history, protection, extraordinary, and a magnet. I believe in miracles, and that's why I hope it will be restored. Theoretically, given world politics and what's happening in the canal, it might even make sense. Much here could be quickly restored and repaired. I've noticed so many things today that can be quickly repaired. How about free or inexpensive hotel rooms for guests who want to save such a legacy? Also in other areas, like the pier, below and above. There's a lot missing. Have donation boxes set up for the repair of damage caused by Corona, the storm, and the global economic crisis. Ideally, in the hotel dining rooms. One or just a handful can't do it, but everyone together can. ☀️😃😇👍
Christine — Google review
Great visit which is free unless you want to go in the museum. Kids had a great time playing and looking at the cannons. Nice views to be had on the top level and the cafe is reasonably priced.

Nice place to go to find out about some of the history of Eastbourne. Also there is a good opportunity to get some good views of the beach from the fortress. Interesting way to spend a bit of time and no cost for doing so.

Interesting historic fort with exhibits and interactive displays inside. The tour is definitely worth doing as the guides are knowledgeable and you'll learn things you'd otherwise miss.

What a lovely place. You can get a coffee and sit around. Such a historical site with cannons, though they were not the genuine ones at the fort originally, will inspire your children. The seafront view is great. All these remind is the hard fought peace that we are enjoying. Lest we forget.

Sovereign Harbour, located in Eastbourne, East Sussex, England, is a popular destination often referred to as "Little Venice" due to its high concentration of canals, shops, and cafes. The area boasts a large marina complex that is one of the biggest in northern Europe and attracts sailing enthusiasts and tourists alike. Visitors come to enjoy the views of marina life and watch luxury yachts passing through the lock gates.
Went for a walk around this fascinating harbour during the week, it was quiet and I could ogle the amazing boats and yatchs moored here. It is a beautiful design with gorgeous houses and apartments all around it. There is also a fair selection of restaurants and cafés to choose from, but some with good views of the marina. A great place to go for an unusual and different walk.

The Eastbourne Bandstand is a historic seaside venue with a distinctive blue domed roof, offering a variety of musical performances including big band, classical music, and tribute acts. Built in 1935, it holds special significance as it commemorates Eastbourne bandsman John Wesley Woodward who was performing on the Titanic when it sank in 1912. The bandstand hosts around 150 concerts annually and offers free shows to the public.
Such a fantastic place to visit all year around but more so in the summer where there are regular bands playing and music can be heard along Eastbourne promenade. Also Wednesdays from may - sept they host a beautiful firework display on the beach next to the bandstand at approx 9.30pm ..I love attending with my daughter and watching the display. 😍🎆 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ For me this is a must do experience of you are ever in Eastbourne
Abigail ( — Google review
Lovley venue, outside and good atmosphere. Can get cold if windy so bring a jumper. You can buy blankets here to. Bar available. Great evening to watch live music
George T — Google review
Eastbourne Bandstand is a gem on the Sussex coast — a striking seafront venue that blends historic charm with vibrant musical life. Built in 1935, its distinctive blue domed roof and art deco design make it one of the most recognisable landmarks in Eastbourne, and it remains a focal point for live entertainment throughout the year. The Bandstand hosts an impressive variety of events, from traditional brass bands and tribute acts to themed nights and fireworks concerts. Whether you're into swing, classical, or Queen, there's likely a performance for you. The sound quality is surprisingly good given the open-air setting, and the tiered seating ensures a decent view for most audience members. It’s particularly magical on warm summer evenings, when the music mingles with the sea breeze. Staff are friendly and well-organised, and ticket prices are reasonable, making it an accessible evening out. The location is ideal too — just a short walk from Eastbourne Pier, with ample nearby parking and local amenities. That said, the weather can be unpredictable, and while the covered seating offers some protection, dressing for the elements is wise. Also, during busier events, the seating can feel a bit cramped. Overall, Eastbourne Bandstand offers a wonderful blend of nostalgia, community spirit, and first-rate entertainment — a must-visit for music lovers or anyone looking for a quintessentially British seaside experience.
Mark J — Google review
We unexpectedly came across the bandstand, as we were new to the area. There was a band playing and plenty of seating for spectators. It was an unbelievable atmosphere, with everyone participating either by singing along, clapping, waving their hands, dancing and just enjoying themselves from young and old. Hats off to their Council for funding the event.
Joan B — Google review
We saw 2 shows recently which were great. Staff were very helpful when I needed it. Lynda in the ticket office was amazing. She went above and beyond to help me when I had some difficulties. She also helped by printing my tickets which I thought I had lost on my phone. Lynda was very calm and so kind. I'm very grateful for all her help. It made the experience much more enjoyable. Everyone was friendly and the quality of shows was excellent. Thoroughly recommend.

We went to see the Motown tribute act last and it was the worst act I have ever seen here. They turned up late, couldn't get their words right and their voices were just dreadful. They turned up 20 minutes but didn't stay any later to make it up!! Would not recommend anyone to go to see them
Jo G — Google review
Been here a couple of times to see some tribute acts, enjoyed it and will come back 😀

This bandstand make an incredible venue for a concert. I was a speaker at an outside church service where around 1000 people gathered. It makes for a very intimate venue as you can see everyone clearly from the stage. Th acoustics are amazing too. We had a brilliant sunny day hope you get one too.

An average shopping centre. The rise of internet shopping is killing the high street. However the entrance to the car park is designed to add go faster stripes to your SUV as it is that narrow, far easier to get out than to get in. A number or units are closed down and the selection of shops is middle to low end. Unless you want a coffee then you have lots of choice.

amazing little shopping mall, I remember when this was called Arndale centre and was so tiny and limited shops so they have turned this around for the better, great facilities for the kids so they won't get bored and plenty of restaurants to visit, also a cinema upstairs which is convenient and great for the family.

The Beacon Shopping Centre is an absolute gem in Eastbourne! I can't say enough good things about this place. It's a shopaholic's paradise with a fantastic selection of stores to cater to all your retail desires. From high street favorites to unique independent shops, there's something for everyone. What's truly remarkable is the addition of Chuck and Blade Burgers and Square Peg Pizzas. The combination of mouthwatering burgers and delicious pizzas under one roof is a foodie's dream come true. The food is not only scrumptious but also served with a smile. One of the things that really stands out is how impeccably clean the centre always is. You can see the hardworking teams consistently tidying up and ensuring that the place looks its best. It makes for a pleasant and comfortable shopping experience. Whether you're in need of some retail therapy or just looking for a chill spot, the Beacon Shopping Centre has you covered. It's an excellent place to unwind, grab a coffee, or simply enjoy the ambiance. This place has it all – shopping, dining, and relaxation. I wholeheartedly recommend it!

Fantastic gallery. Great exhibitions on Sussex Modernism and Paule Vézelay. Fabulous food in The Light restaurant with great views from the terrace
Julian T — Google review
Great facility, lots of space and possibly the largest passenger lift I have ever been in, clean and with many facilities. Although I will admit I didn't try the cafe
Andreas W — Google review
Excellent contemporary gallery with high quality exhibitions. The restaurant is a beautiful and calm space with a sunny terrace. The menu is interesting and delicious. The cinema hosts the latest arthouse, independent and foreign cinema and has a handsome bar. I would give the gallery five stars if it were not for the noise from loud people in the galleries, which is distracting and irritating. This includes loud conversations by staff who also do nothing to control the noise levels. It has been so distracting while trying to watch the films and read the explanations of the works that I likely won't return often. At the Emma Stibbon show last year, there groups of shrieking pensioners and a small group of women stood right behind me, talking loudly while I tried to watch the video - I had to ask them to move. Yesterday, there were similar levels of noise from people who seem to have no awareness of others. While I don't expect it to be library silent, I do expect, especially for paid exhibitions, to be able to concentrate on what I've come to see. Also, I came out of the exhibition and sat down to watch another video on the screen on the landing and 30 seconds in was approached by a staff member who wanted me to complete a survey. She could see that I was trying to watch a film. They should ensure that visitors can enjoy the experience without such distractions.

Very disappointed in the Turner exhibition. Despite having to pay for this one, less than half the paintings were Turner's. Thankfully we had a coffee on the roof terrace to make up for it, after. The Ravillious exhibition was brilliant, and free.
Sandy — Google review
Visited because my wife and I have been binge watching portrait artist of the year, but only landscapes from Ravilius were on display. Still interesting, however. Went for a coffee and sticky bun in the cafe afterwards, but sadly the buns were all gone :( Hope to revisit in a couple of weeks for the Turner exhibition 😉

Pevensey Castle, located in East Sussex, boasts a rich history spanning 16 centuries. Originally fortified by the Romans as a shore fort to defend against the Saxons, it later became the site where William the Conqueror initiated the Norman Conquest of England. The castle's sturdy square keep and powerful gatehouse stand as impressive ruins on a naturally defensible site.
Not really sure how someone could rate this less than 5 stars. We came here to start our self guided 1066 tour as this makes sense chronologically. We purchased the overseas 9 day pass, so this castle was included. There is magic in the walls. So much history, too much to write about. I recommend reading up on the history before you come, it will be more interesting. The WW2 touch is simply amazing. Centuries of history live in these walls. If you are not into history, the walk alone is very nice. I highly recommend giving yourself about 2 hours. We took a short drive down to the coast to take a picture at the “spot” that the Normans landed (yes I know, that spot has been reclaimed by the sea, but still, use your imagination). Car park around the corner within walking distance and an overflow lot for a fee.
Geoffrey D — Google review
Went there as somewhere different for a dog walk. There were no restrictions on where we could go. Great place to see some English history, and how it has been involved during centuries of history.
Steve B — Google review
Very nice castle. The grounds are quite large and free to visit with some information boards, so great for dogs. It is rare, at least in my experience, to see rounded Roman walls, which was then built upon after 1066. The keep you need to pay for, a touch bare but nothing an audio guide can't fix, and there are a few rooms with exhibitions for extra viewing. Don't forget the dungeon.
MGX93dot — Google review
Just a short visit to Pevensey Castle, trying to fit a lot into our day. After first visiting Battle Abbey, another English Heritage site, it was only a short drive down to Pevensey & like Battle Abbey, Pevensey is well worth a visit. We were fortunate to have lovely weather for both our visits.

Amazing castle with lots of layers of history. The kind lady in the shop was extremely knowledgeable which made the experience so much more enjoyable.

It is completely worth, make sure to take the audio guide from the shop!!! The history is amazing and it’s amazing to imagine the old times.

Farm
Sharnfold Farm, situated on Hailsham Road in Stone Cross, UK, is a charming family-owned farm covering 300 acres of picturesque East Sussex countryside. The farm is home to a variety of livestock such as cows, pigs, sheep, and poultry. Additionally, it boasts an array of fruits and vegetables including strawberries, raspberries, potatoes, and pumpkins. Embracing sustainable agricultural practices to minimize its environmental impact is one of the farm's core values.
My toddler loves Sharnfold for a day out! There is so much to keep him entertained and such a variety too! The flower fields are absolutely gorgeous and great for those photo opportunities and he could spend ages in vehicle valley or playing the garden games! Really reasonably priced, especially the summer pass - we will be back every week throughout the summer holidays!
Louise W — Google review
Really lovely little farm and play areas for young children. My nearly two year old loved it, although she was sad she couldn’t see the cows! The price was really reasonable for all the different things to see and do. It was nice that the gift shop and cafe wasn’t a rip off like some places can be, but the food selection was quite poor. That’s the only thing letting it down I’d say! Other than that, well worth a day out for toddlers and young children.
Bex S — Google review
We went to Sharnfold this weekend for the Peppa Pig character weekend, and just had such a lovely time!! A really well run event, which whilst very popular didn't feel at all rushed with the characters patiently allowing children to get their photos taken and give high fives and hugs. The cafe had some themed Peppa pig rice cakes that were really affordable so the kids could have a treat. No heavy push to sell merchandise but it was there if you wanted it, with cheaper options like balloons for smaller budgets. Great value for money and really friendly staff. An afternoon well spent and next time I would go earlier to have more time on the farm meeting the animals too!
Donna B — Google review
Came a couple weeks ago, i loved the staff, they were really nice but i honestly expected more animals or a bit more to do. However there was plenty for the kids which is good, the location (way there) wasn't safe as i had to walk up a very long and curvy road with a baby. (Yes i could've waited for a bus but it only would've stopped in the middle of the road anyway). Overall 3/5.
Galaxtic_ A — Google review
We used to visit frequently before the refurbishment as the farm shop breakfast was lovely, and great value. Visited recently and they no longer have a functioning kitchen or a breakfast menu. Such a shame. We ended up going elsewhere with our group of 6.
J G — Google review
A 1-star rating for disabled amenities, we phoned prior to our visit and was assured wheelchair assess wasn’t a issue, which in fairness to get around was fine but to get into the wooden shacks just stairs and no ramps I find it ridiculous. He was unable to access the cars at “vehicle valet”. We chose this place as it said it had a “sensory street”. I wouldn’t call it a street just a board. Nothing sensory about it, which was very disappointing. All In all of you have a great wheelchair bound child I would avoid.
Liam B — Google review
Overcharged at the cafe, luckily staff noticed they made a mistake and refunded. Didn't want to go around the trail just the pumpkin picking but had to pay entry to trail anyway I didnt get our carers ticket so had to pay full price, ontop of it all a medium sized pumpkin cost nearly £9 ! Even with that they wanted nearly £7 to carve the thing ! No thank you. We used to love coming here for halloween as it used to be reasonably priced and never had to pay just to go get a pumpkin before and could get 3 pumpkins for the price we paid today. Daylight robbery!
Holliee C — Google review
This review was about the PYO pumpkin patch, my personally review of this place is 3 starts at best! Firstly we get there with a 3 year old, very excited, go to the tills and the 4 or 5 members of staff looked at us and just ignored us. a few minuets later a female member of staff came over and just handed us bands, no information not telling us where to go. so we walked over to a door and tried to open it. "we had to be buzzed thought" again NO ONE gave a crap about us being customers and it took someone cleaning a table on the other side of the store to walk over and let in though. even tho the tills are 2 steps away. i mean the pure lack of customer service or care was shocking.

Wish Tower, an iconic defensive tower from the 19th century, stands as one of the best-preserved Martello towers in southern England. Built to defend against a potential Napoleonic invasion that never materialized, this historic site offers hulking architecture and stunning sea views. Surrounded by the Peace Garden and Eastbourne's largest ferris wheel, it provides a wonderful place to explore.
Free to go in, well worth doing so
Sarah J — Google review
This is an historic Marello Tower sited on top of the hill near the west end of Eastbourne 's Promenade. It is unusual in that it is sunk into a pit, presumably to add further protection against cannon fire from ships, although, perhaps this was done later. The tower is set in a nice garden layout and the views are exceptional on a clear day. If you visit here, do check out the old lifeboat museum at the bottom of the hill too.
Ian W — Google review

One of 74 Martello Towers built along the south coast to defend against Napoleon in the early 1800's. The walls are 14 feet thick on the seaward side to defend against cannon balls and the round shape is to deflect cannon balls. On top would have been mounted at least one cannon on a swivel mount. It was never used in the napoleonic wars as napoleon didn’t invade in the end but if he had then this tower was part of the coastal defence.

Surprisingly interesting for a local attraction. Watch the films they made, shown in their own mini cinema. They describe, with pictures, how the streets have changed over time. The rest is a bit sparse but OK. This sign is on the wall next to the stairs.

Helen Garden is a tranquil and beautiful garden located near Holywell Beach in Eastbourne. It features a stream, small waterfall, pond, and diverse plants, providing the perfect setting for a peaceful stroll or unwinding. The garden also hosts events like the Eastbourne Half Marathon and Coastal Trail Runnings. Visitors can enjoy the kids' play area and grab reasonably priced refreshments at the cafe. However, some visitors have noted issues with cleanliness in the toilets that need to be addressed by maintenance.
Pleasant park along the cliffs with a small golf course and children’s park too. Free Parking the road for up to 4 hours. Get there early! In the same area there are 3 cafes. One in the park. Another near the park and last one on the beach below. Steep steps to the beach but there is a road to the beach so it’s wheelchair accessible.
Martin W — Google review
A truly charming stop at the end of the hike from Birling Gap into Eastbourne. Helen Garden is beautifully maintained- clean, peaceful, and full of character. It's the kind of place that invites you to pause, breathe, and take it all in. The entrance signage clearly lists available facilities (toilets, seating areas, etc.), which is super helpful for first-timers or hikers coming down from the cliffs. I only popped in briefly to catch a glimpse of the rainbow touching the sea- but what a sight! Definitely worth a linger if you're walking into town.
Christine M — Google review
Lovely place to visit. We normally can park on the street no meters. Lovely view's there's a mini golf.Tea shop.If feeling up for it a healthy walk up to the top off beachehead. Then walk down into the Italian garden's. After down to the sea front for a padle. Cup off coffee at the café at beechehead.
Colin W — Google review
I would have given this 5 Stars because the location is spectacular with stunning views across Eastbourne and the Bay beyond with South Downs and Beachy Head right behind you. The only thing that lets it down is the fact that the cafe is run by the Cadence Cafe group. The menu is severely Limited and the prices compared to the portion sizes are among the highest you could find in this town. My suggestion is to bring your own picnic. There is a freshwater fountain available to provide drinking water for yourselves and your pets.

The mill was built in 1817 and was working by wind until 1943. It was then worked by auxiliary engine, latterly an electric motor, until 1965. By the time the mill stopped working, it was becoming derelict.

A charming example of a 19 century Tower Mill. It is staffed by an enthusiastic group of volunteers that greet every visitor with an engaging welcome. It currently has restricted access to the upper Tower floors and needs financial support to provide a safe structure to show off its incredible milling machinery. The local council should support its industrial heritage as it is an irreplaceable jem.
