Nestled majestically above the Vltava River, the State Castle and Chateau Český Krumlov is a stunning testament to centuries of history and architectural evolution. As the largest castle complex in Eastern Europe, it offers visitors an enchanting glimpse into the lives of Bohemia's aristocracy. While its origins trace back to 1240, much of what captivates today’s guests was constructed during the 17th century.
Nice castle. I personally felt it was larger than Prague castle. It’s a small beautiful old town. Most people perhaps due day trips here. I wouldn’t mind spending a couple of nights from peace and breath of fresh air. Recommended…!

"A Medieval Gem with Breathtaking Views" The Český Krumlov Castle is truly one of the most enchanting places in the Czech Republic. The combination of medieval fortress, Renaissance and Baroque architecture, and the charming old town below makes it feel like stepping back in time. The castle grounds are vast and full of surprises — from courtyards and historic halls to the beautiful castle tower with its colorful facade. Climbing the tower is absolutely worth it for the panoramic view over Český Krumlov’s red rooftops and winding river — it’s picture-perfect. The castle gardens are also lovely for a peaceful stroll, especially in spring and summer. Guided tours of the interior give fascinating insight into the history of the noble families who lived here, and the preservation of the rooms is impressive. Even if you don’t take a tour, just wandering the grounds and soaking up the atmosphere is an unforgettable experience. A must-visit when in South Bohemia — magical, historic, and full of charm.
Andrew H — Google review
Cesky Krumlov it is the most romantic place in the Czech Republic, you can visit it both in summer and winter during the holidays. The castle is huge and offers a great view of the city. On the waterfront there are many very picturesque restaurants where you can eat well.
Monica A — Google review
A large castle, that was built originally in the early 1300's and later rebuilt in renessaince ans baroque styles. Really beautiful and amazing, the only negative thing is that you have to buy several tickets if you want to see everything, as there is no combined ticket. You can visit the courtyards for free. The museum and the tower is possible to visit without guide but to the rooms of the castle there are only guided rooms - but definitely worth going. Great views to the town from the tower! Don't miss this while in town!
Henri ( — Google review
A beautiful gem of the Czech Republic. We fell in love with this city at first sight. It's so much fun to walk around its picturesque streets, sail on the river and just feel like you're in a magical fairy tale.
Eddy T — Google review
A beautiful and interesting castle in the Czech Republic. It has a long history that stimulates my curiosity, too. If Prague is one of the most popular places to visit in the Czech Republic, then this place might be the most beautiful and impressive.
Garam L — Google review
An exceptional historical building, beautifully preserved, well-organized tours, at least 2 hours should be taken. I recommend a guided tour for additional explanations. A must visit if you are in Český Krumlov.
Jan L — Google review
If anything, the views of the town are what I would go back for again. Just surreal. Makes you think about how life was for the citizens of those days. The air is filled with the moisture and freshness of the running river; not to mention the sound of it flowing. Magical place. Go early in the morning, before the tour buses from Prague arrive.

The Church of St. Vitus in Cesky Krumlov is a remarkable Roman Catholic church with a rich history dating back to the 13th century. Its Gothic architecture, adorned with frescos and a 17th-century altar, stands out in the cityscape alongside the old castle. The church is known for its towering roof and lavishly decorated nave, as well as being the final resting place of prominent Bohemian families such as the Rosenbergs and Schwarzenbergs.
It’s a beautiful cathedral with typical interior for such kind of churches. It stands on a hill, so it’s somewhat hard to climb. The entrance is free.
Anya N — Google review
This is the only church I had a chance to visit when I popped by the town of Cesky Krumlov. As per all the churches I visited in this country, the simple exterior facade belies the beautiful interior within. I love the high ceiling, the prayer altars and how calm and serene it was once I entered the building. Definitely one of the must visit places in this town.
Gevs — Google review
A beautiful church. The cathedral is the samet of many places in the small town of Krumlov. Interesting architecture, a memorable spire, another building from past centuries that fits so perfectly into the atmosphere of the city.
Witold D — Google review
Huge and beautiful medieval church, built in early 1300's and dedicated to Saint Vitus. Only a quite small part of the church is possible to visit, and inside you can't really understand the true size of the church. But when you go outside, across the river, you will understand the magnitude.
Henri ( — Google review
Excellent architecture and very peaceful. You can also enjoy the river view behind the church.
Priti S — Google review
Beautiful church. This was built in 1309 and was the Family church of the Rosenbergs and several family members are buried in the church. It is late Gothic with Renaissance and Baroque additional. Stunning altar. We loved our visit. It is free to enter and highly recommend a visit.
Michael M — Google review
Visited the Church of St. Vitus in Český Krumlov and it was magical! The Gothic architecture is stunning and the interior is full of beautiful frescoes, stained glass, and detailed altars. The peaceful atmosphere makes it the perfect spot to pause and soak in history. Don’t miss the tower for breathtaking views of the old town and the Vltava River. A must-see stop in Český Krumlov!

Attended a Sunday mass. Many interruptions by tourists. As soon as the service ended, red velvet ropes were used to restrict access.

The Český Krumlov Castle Tower is a stunning Renaissance structure that stands as a prominent feature of the town's skyline. With its long staircase leading to an observation deck, visitors are rewarded with breathtaking views of the charming streets and iconic red-roofed buildings below, along with the winding Vltava River.
The Český Krumlov Castle Tower is an absolute must-visit! Climbing to the top rewards you with a breathtaking panoramic view of the old town and the winding Vltava River, surrounded by charming red-roofed buildings. The architecture of the tower is stunning, with historic details that make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Important note: Be very careful when going down — the steps are uneven in height and shape, and some can be narrow or slightly slanted. It’s best to take your time, wear comfortable shoes, and watch your step closely.
Traveler — Google review
Stunning tower located within the Castle area. The views of the city are just breathtaking. It is 162 steps to the top. The walk was not bad at all, but it does get narrow at the top. Few spots to stop along the way and see some of the exhibits. One bell in the tower is from 1406. Amazing. There is also a cool Dungeon established by the Lords of Krumlov. Loved the visit and the views. Requires a ticket to be purchased but that ticket includes the entire castle complex.
Michael M — Google review
Perfect viewpoint overlooking the towns old center. Not a very hard climb (150+ steps) so worth it. It wasn’t very busy so you can check out the panoramic view without the crowds. (In august) you will pay for a ticket though, but you also get to visit a museum.
Toufic T — Google review
The tour I joined was too big. There was more than 30 people with only one guide. So I couldn’t engage enough with the information from the guide. The place is beautiful but the rooms we were allowed to go in as a part of the tour was fewer than I expected. The guide was friendly and enthusiastic tho, I could see he tried his best. But the group was just too big.
Thanatorn C — Google review
What a great place to visit. To avoid all massive crowds I would go as early as possible 9am. Walk up the stairs and go all the way down the hallway past the cafe to buy your tickets 👍The views from the top are just so magical. There was fog this early morning ♥️
Jason W — Google review
We went on a guided day excursion from Prague to Cesky Krumlov. It was an amazing day! (We used Get Your Guide tours). Such a beautiful town with gorgeous views, lovely streets to meander, and restaurants and shops to enjoy. This is a must if you can take a day out of Prague or Vienna.
Tracey T — Google review
Český Krumlov Castle is an impressive landmark with stunning architecture and panoramic views of the old town. The guided tour inside gives great insight into its royal history and lavish interiors. It’s best to buy tickets in advance, especially during peak season, to avoid long lines.

Český Krumlov is a fairytale town – full of charm, history and stunning views. The castle and its gardens are a must, the old streets are magical, and the atmosphere along the Vltava River is unforgettable. A place you definitely shouldn’t miss when visiting the Czech Republic!

Cloak Bridge is a centuries-old, multi-arched bridge that spans the castle moat in a charming old town. Visitors can walk over or under the bridge for free and enjoy stunning views of the castle and surrounding area. The bridge has historical significance dating back to the 15th century and is considered one of the biggest local architectural sights. It connects the castle with its garden and theater, offering impressive views from every angle.
This place is super nice from high above as you can see from my panoramic photo. Was visiting this place via #EmeraldCruises on its #DanubeRiverCruise. There are two bears in their bear conservation area too. We spent a few hours here just walking around.
Gerald L — Google review
I visited this town on a rainy day. However, I wanted to walk outside to soak in the views here. There are plenty of amazing sites and one of them is this bridge. I had taken a photo from the above, and then I walked down to the ground level to get another vantage point of this amazing structure.
Gevs — Google review
I'm grateful that there is no entrance fee so that the view of the town is accessible to everyone. In addition to going over the (short) bridge, it's neat to see it from in front (brown bridge over river) and behind (park). I also did the castle tower, which has an entrance fee (and a much better view). Glad to have done both, and again, glad that there is an accessible option for a view.
Corrie C — Google review
Great view from the top of the bridge and look up the whole bridge from the bottom. No ticket needed for this amazing view. Really recommend this place for all the tourists to visit and enjoy it!
Chang C — Google review
The castle itself is absolutely stunning, with rich history and incredible architecture. The views of the city from the bridge are breathtaking, one of the highlights of our visit. Walking through the grounds really gives you a sense of the past, and it's easy to see why this is such a popular destination.
Eric S — Google review
Amazing architecture!! Can walk under it and go up to the second level for free. 2nd level has unbelievable views of this UNESO town!!
Heather R — Google review
You can actually walk on it for free. Very beautiful from up there.

Nestled in the heart of Cesky Krumlov, the Monastery of the Minorites is a captivating 14th-century Catholic sanctuary that invites visitors to explore its rich history and artistic treasures. Founded in 1350 by Peter of Rozmberk and his wife Catherine, this monastery showcases an impressive blend of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture.
I recommend a visit, an extremely well organized tour
Rumyana U — Google review
In the oldest district of Český Krumlov, Latran, not far from Krumlov Castle, behind a baroque arched gate, lies the Minorite monastery, better known as the monastery of the Knights of the Red Cross. This is one of the mysterious and hidden places in the city. The monasteries of Český Krumlov are a unique district in the historical center of the city, registered on the UNESCO list. The exhibition introduces the history of Český Krumlov and its monasteries. At the entrance to the exhibition there is a model of the monastery complex, including its gardens. It is easy to see why monasteries are an important part of Český Krumlov and what role they played in the formation of the city. The exhibition correctly shows the period from the first written mention of the city in 1253, its heyday during the reign of the Rosenbergs and the establishment of monasteries in modern history, as well as the dissolution of the Minorite monastery in 1950.
Witold D — Google review
We had a wonderful experience and atmosphere in the old town of Krumlov. There is a lot to see and to do. Also nice restaurants, coffee shops, hotels and shops for shopping. We stayed in the Bellevue Spa hotel, in the old town area. Very central but not really a Spa hotel if you must book and pay extra for the Spa / sauna's use, I think😉 This town gives a feeling of Tuscany with all the red roofs. Also a bit like a small Prague...well to me at least. A must to visit.
Leonie P — Google review
This review is based on my experience with the staff not the place itself. I got the Cesky Krumlov card and was going to visit all of the included museums. But even in a day and a half it wasn't easy as the castle apartments and theatre are separate attractions and they require quite a bit of time. I decided to leave this museum until last but did find my way there earlier and double checked with the lady at the reception if they were closing at 6pm. She didn't speak good English and wasn't pleasant at all. When I returned at 5:10pm I thought I could have a quick look. It's ok if it wasn't possible but the attitude was very off putting. She could have told me or they could put up a sign for her to point to that last admission was at 5pm. Even the brochures given by the information centre don't mention that. I said it's ok I just want to have a quick look as I was leaving the next day, but was bluntly refused.
Debbie L — Google review
Awesome for kids. So much fun and so much to do. It's an awesome place when you want the kids to have a good time and the grown ups can also do so much and play and have fun. Highly recommended when you're around the area!
Maranja A — Google review
Daughter and I visited only the second exposition and were amazed. Really good interactive presentation of a renesaince clothing and a work in a monastery, where you can create your own souvenirs. Unfortunatelly texts are almost all in Czech (which I luckily understand some), but it didn’t bother my daughter 😄
Gregor B — Google review
Great place, we spent 4 hours there and had to drag our girls (4+7) out! So.many things to do to spark the imagination, in a different way then we are used to. I highly recommend it!

The Regional Museum in the Czech Krumlov, located in a former school building, offers an insightful journey through the regional and local history of Cesky Krumlov. Housed in a rebuilt Baroque structure of the former Jesuit College, it showcases collections and exhibits tracing the area's history from prehistoric times to the late nineteenth century. One of its highlights is an impressive ceramic model of the city, claimed to be the largest of its kind globally.
If you're a history buff like me, you're going to enjoy this museum. It does a good job showing the history of Cesky Krumlov.
Fil B — Google review
If you want to get a comprehensive and detailed information about the rich history of the city and the region, then be sure to visit this Regional Museum. It features rich archaeological collections, art and crafts, ethnography and folk medicine, as well as a large ceramic model of Český Krumlov itself.
Witold D — Google review
A nice-to-go regional museum to take a look at old Czech folks lives(and the history of this town too). It had a wide range of exhibition considering the location, and provided detailed English translated explanation for displayed pieces. The entrance fee is cheap. 60Kč per one adult. It has a clean and modern restroom inside too. I recommend you to visit here!
Garam L — Google review
Topics covered and artifacts displayed here are just what one would expect. They follow the beginnings and the development of the city up until present. I commend them that the information presented is in great detail. However it doesn't really have the vibes of a modern museum. I felt a kind of information overload as a lot of documents clippings letters are just presented as they are in glass cases and therefore very indigestible. The big model of the city is quite amazing but then again there are no audio visual effects or at least some lights to guide your eye to wander over it. In short my interest wasn't piqued and I would just have a quick walk through. That may be why I was the only person inside.
Debbie L — Google review
A neat and small museum that will take you an hour, nicely organized to learn about the history of this beautiful city. I recommend it.

The Castle Garden in Český Krumlov is a sprawling 17th-century baroque garden surrounding the State Castle. It offers a sense of calmness and tranquility, with its symmetrical and well-groomed layout. The historical landmark boasts impeccable maintenance and breathtaking views, making it a must-visit. The garden features perfectly cut hedges, a spectacular fountain, and areas dedicated to horse training.

Papa's Living Restaurant is a popular dining spot located near the Lazebnicky bridge on the castle side of the river. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes including Italian pasta, Spanish ham, arugula, steaks, fish, pork and pizza. The comfortable atmosphere with a painted arched ceiling adds to the dining experience. Visitors can also enjoy an extensive wine list and full service bar. One visitor particularly enjoyed the local fish and roast beef at this riverside restaurant.
Our favorite spot in Cesky Krumlov. The riverside view was so lovely, and every dish we had was amazing! We came here twice during our 3-day trip in Cesky Krumlov.

Stopped by for a quick bite and was pleasantly surprised! The burger was massive and filling, but still reasonably priced. I tried the iced tea, which had a refreshing minty taste. They also had a good variety of lemonades to choose from like mango and lemon. Bonus points for the super clean bathrooms. Definitely a spot I’d come back to!

Amazing food and service. I had the svickova which in simple terms is beef in sauce served with some potato dumplings and cranberry jam. It was awesome and so was the beer and spaghetti. One red flag : I had read that the waiters force you to tip and yeah it was true. the waiters do push you to tip them which i found a little weird.

Small gem of a restaurant hidden away but fabulous on every front. Food was great and very fresh, perhaps the very best tomato soup we’ve EVER had. Pasta dishes were great. The wine choices were spot on: our server carefully listened to our wine preferences and suggested local ones the were perfect. We had three bottles (party of six) and wonderful after dinner local grappas and brandies. Overall a fantastic night! (Roughy $50 per person including a 20% tip!)

A local recommended us this restaurant & it’s Indeed top choice. The place is comfortable, casual feel, service is very eficient & friendly. It's very busy & full, the menu is very extensive with a lot of options. The steak we had was cooked to perfection (we like it rare), they have the option to change breaded & potatoes to salad. We were recommended good local wine. But it is quite pricey.

We had a great experience here, the staff is very friendly. We ordered only one dish and said we were going to share it, and to our surprise, the dish already came beautifully shared in two separate plates. That’s what I call a perfect service!

The dinner was really delicious and sitting on the stream front was very nice from an atmosphere perspective. The portions were a little small, and the price of an individual glass of wine was a little high but overall, it was a very good meal

Seminární zahrada, located on the side of Cesky Krumlov, offers one of the best panoramic views of the city. From this vantage point, visitors can admire the Vltava river winding around the town, as well as the castle tower and charming red roofs. The garden provides a serene and peaceful atmosphere without being crowded, making it an ideal spot to relax and take in the breathtaking scenery.
This park offers one of the most incredible views of Cesky Krumlov Castle Complex and Tower, Parkan, Vlava River, churches, and quaint houses. Totally worth a visit. In my opinion this is the second best view point. The best view is the a small garden between the castle bridge and the castle garden. They sell beer, coffee and snacks there too.

The landmark can be seen right in front of that in here. But it is not crowded. Good place to enjoy the scene and relax for a while. It is equipped with more than eight benches:)

Guys! Don’t miss this place! It’s a must to stop by to see this beautiful view on the right side of the town over viewing the old tower! It was simply amazing I spent most day there because I’ve walked everywhere! Would enjoy this place again maybe on sunrise!

Review: The garden with a stunning panoramic view of Cesky Krumlov was simply breathtaking. It offered a serene and peaceful atmosphere, with the added bonus of not being crowded. Its convenient location near the center of the city made it easily accessible. Although small in size, the garden provided a perfect vantage point to admire the beauty of Cesky Krumlov. Highly recommended for those seeking a tranquil spot with an incredible view.

Performing arts theater
The Castle Theater in Cesky Krumlov is a remarkable Baroque theater, considered one of the best-preserved of its kind globally. Connected to the castle, it offers a unique experience with its small seating capacity and beautiful balcony for nobility. As the oldest Baroque theater worldwide, visitors can explore the stage, machinery underneath it, and watch a video presentation during an hour-long technical tour. The opulence of the theater and its historical significance make it well worth a visit.
It's truly spectacular. The best preserved Baroque theatre in the world. Well worth a visit. Front of stage is stunning, but the back stage is amazing , and it had so much technical capability so long ago.
Richard S — Google review
Booked online 2 days ago for 10AM English tour on Sat (left 7 vacancies only for that day). 360 czk for 45mins. Had a good introductory brief by guide, before showing us the mechanics of the world’s oldest baroque theatre. Was shown comprehensive 15mins video on the workings of the theatre. Tour ended thereafter. The theatrical appreciation of that time frame was fully showcased; most impressive was the optical illusion created for the audience. While it was a good experience, it could have been better if … - a sample display of the preserved costumes (600+) was included - a little demonstration of the change of scenery/props - a little time to just take take photos or to appreciate its ambiance and significance. (45mins was a bit short)

This is actually my favourite museum in Cesky Krumlov. The history is interesting but even more so is the theatre itself. Going under the stage to see trap doors and seeing the demo on the sound effects was really something else. The tour guide was so passionate about the customer experience, that she pleaded with her boss to let them have hands-on experience with the sound effect equipment. We really had fun with those. She was also very thorough and engaging in her explanations and replies to our questions. I highly recommend this tour.
Debbie L — Google review
I didn’t expect anything when I bought a ticket for it. Thought I could just go in and see an old beautiful theatre with gorgeous interior which I did. However, the experience was amazing. The guide was knowledgeable. I was also allowed to see machine under the stage. The short video at the end of the tour was a bit off tho. Overall, it’s worth a price and time.
Thanatorn C — Google review
This theater is the oldest baroque theater in the world. The hour long presentation consists of visiting inside of the theater, seeing the stage up close, visiting the level underneath the stage with all the wood and rope machinery that was used to change the stage and move the props, and watching a video presentation. It’s more or less a technical tour. There are no costumes to be seen. Because of its uniqueness, it is definitely worth the $ 12 ($10 seniors) ticket.
FLnurseER1 — Google review
Absolutely astonishing! Breathtaking! Tour was amazing and led by a gentleman who answered every question and told us great stories including the history of performances and audiences in the 18th century. We paid for our group to be taken to the theater and it was worth every cent! Do not miss this tour!
Dawn S — Google review
Simply avoid the tour: they cheat you. You’re in front of a marvel and they offer you a really bad video instead! You cannot visit neither the stage nor the costumes and props collection. What a waste of money and time!
Lorenzo — Google review
The theatre is amazing and beautiful. The english tour however disappointing. Especially the part where I was supposed watch a small TV film (~15 min) about the theatre. In the theatre. Which for I paid 360 kr(!) and the whole tour was about 45 min.

Tower offers a breathtaking view from the top, with 162 steps leading to a stunning Baroque and Rococco styled structure. The picturesque surroundings include charming red-roofed houses, lush green fields, and a meandering river. Climbing to the top is possible as there are ladders, but caution is advised due to the lack of safety features. While its original purpose remains unknown, it appeals to those interested in abandoned or industrial buildings.

Took a long way to reach to Abdon Industrial Tower, however, it was futile effort. It is no more a view point. It is cover with jungle trees. I have already recommended a view point in this area. Not recommended.

It's a construction tower with ladder, so you can climb at the top. There is no fence or sign saying that it's not allowed to do that, but still be careful if you decide to go there! There is no place where you can step on at the top, but the view is very nice. The original purpose of this tower is not known to me. This is the place for people, who likes abandoned or industrial buildings...

Historic Walking Areas
St. Jost Church, founded around 1330 by Krumlov ruler Petr of Rozmberk, served as a hospital providing basic care for the sick and poor. The church features a towering bell tower and offers stunning views of Cesky Krumlov and its castle from a different angle. Additionally, it houses a small timber rafting museum, showcasing the city's history of transporting materials and passengers.
A deconsecrated old Protestant church that has great views from the tower. The church itself was converted into apartments a very long time ago, however the tower can still be accessed by the public and gives some impressive views of the city.

A beautiful place with an amazing view from the top of the tower, you can see the whole center of Cesky Krumlov and the castle with it's tower from a different angle. Timber rafts have been an important part of Cesky Krumlov’s history, having transported primarily materials in the past and now passengers. The small timber rafting museum is situated inside of St. Josh Church and is an incredible experience to visit.

It is not an active church today; its interior is generally closed to visitors, but its exterior architecture and location are quite impressive. Hotel Růže is a 16th-century establishment with elegant, antique-filled rooms and rustic dining options. It's located in Cesky Krumlov and offers spacious, clean rooms at a good value. The hotel, a restored former Jesuit Monastery, provides plentiful breakfast options and helpful staff. Its central location allows for easy exploration of the city on foot. Guests can also enjoy an indoor pool and a rich buffet breakfast featuring local pastries.
The hotel is an icon. Staying in this hotel is experiencing a living history. The room decor chose to be authentic to its origin as a Jesuit dormitory so we didn’t expect opulence or luxury. The room we had was large and airy , overlooking its internal courtyard. The floor was newly overlaid with timber strips and the toilet looked newly refurbished. Its location is unbearable, minutes walk to the restaurants, galleries, square and castle. It is also minutes walk to the bus terminal and its designated carpark. The must do activity in my opinion is the river rafting during summer. The rafting services are just round the corner. The breakfast was a good spread. I love a good selection of breads anytime. But others may choose from salads, cold cuts, cheeses , fruits, yoghurts and other breakfast options. We had the breakfast in the grand traditional dining hall and had our finishing coffee on the terrace overlooking the river . I see so much potential for the hotel to be better as it has such a good story to it. Perhaps the hotel could play up its history a little more and amp up some attention to details. In any case, it was a good stay. I look forward to visit again and hope the property will be taken care by loving hands.

We have really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Růže. With the decoration of the rooms and the different facilities, it feels like one is staying in an actual castle. There was a wide selection of food for breakfast, and the staff was very helpful and informative. The only thing we have found overpriced was the daily parking fee. We can highly recommend this hotel to any visitor to Český Krumlov. 🙂

This historic hotel is in an amazing location in the heart of the beautiful town of Cesky Krumlov. The rooms are clean, spacious and very pleasant. The historical details across the building are stunning. There is an excellent breakfast and the staff are very polite and pleasant. The charming Lucia at reception made sure that our stay was an enjoyable one. I would recommend it wholeheartedly. The only disappointment was that the restaurant was closed for lunch and dinner as it was catering for large groups. If the quality of the food was comparable to that served at breakfast, I think it would be a big plus for the hotel to open the restaurant to individual customers as well.

Budweiser Gate (Budějovická Gate) is the sole surviving gate out of the original nine in the city. Constructed between 1598-1602, it was designed by Italian architect Domenico Benedetto Cometta of Eckthurn and funded by Petr Vok of Rozmberk. The two-story quadrangular tower features frescoed decoration on its inner side and a sundial on the second floor.
The Budějovická Gate is the only remaining gate of the original nine that once surrounded Český Krumlov. With its striking Renaissance architecture and well-preserved details, it offers a glimpse into the town’s rich past. Crossing the gate, you're welcomed by beautiful natural views.
Priti S — Google review
Budějovická Gate was built between 1598 - 1602 according to the plan made by Benedict Cometta and at the expense of Peter Vok of Rosenberg. Český Krumlov originally had nine gates, which were incorporated into the town fortifications. Eight of them were gradually pulled down in the 19th century and Budějovická Gate was the only one to remain. In comparison to the other gates, whose appearance is only partly known from historical pictures, it stood out due to its daring architectural solution and Renaissance decoration. A noteworthy fact about Budějovická Gate is its conception of two dif-ferent expressions on its two façades, one towards the town and the other facing outward. The outer rectangular decoration of the façade with its battle-ments and pointed edge of the tower makes the impression of massive fortifications to put off enemies and, on the reverse side, the red colour of the façade facing the town, with its sundial and playful Renaissance ornaments surrounding the windows, shows the inhabitants of the town its smiling face.

The only surviving of the nine city gates was built in the years 1598-1602 by the Italian architect Domenico Benedetto Cometta of Eckthurn at the expense of Petr Vok of Rožmberk. The two-storey quadrangular tower had a different effect on the conquerors of the city and differently on its defenders and burghers: from the outer (northern) side it evokes the illusion of a massive fortification and its façade is covered by a huge protective wall topped by battlements. The inner side is richly decorated with frescoes with a sundial on the level of the second floor. Access to the gate was originally provided by a wooden drawbridge, its holes with wooden pulleys are still preserved. A modern city emblem is installed in the area above the portal. Přístup k bráně původně zabezpečoval dřevěný padací most, otvory s dřevěnými kladkami jsou dosud zachovány. V ploše nad portálem je osazen novodobý městský znak.

Having been on many other brewery tours I think this one is a little bit long and the explanation was only in check in German and Adriana was very very nice and accommodating to let me know that would happen however I think it could have been a better experience if the guide had made an effort to explain something in English. My partner's were from Slovakia and they seem to have found the tour a bit boring as well.

Michael was our brewery tour guide and he did an incredible job keeping us informed and laughing the entire time. We bought tickets in advance, but it didn’t seem necessary as only 4 total participants went on the 18:30 tour. Germination + Brewing + Fermentation = Beer that’s “strong like an ox” The tour was 1 hour and 15 minutes and we had the remaining time to enjoy our mini-beer and hang out with Michael and the others.

Brewery is located in historical building, however the owner and technology is relatively new. Tour consists of pretty boring lecture about process of making beer, viewing few rooms with tanks and tasting of one of their beer. Waste of money. Museum of beer in Prague way more interesting and informative.

I think this was more of a donation or expensive beer than an informative tour. The guided tour in english was very disconnected and confusing. The guide did not seem comfortable with what he was doing and made the experience pretty boring and uninteresting. However, the cold beer at the end was great.

Absolutely fabulous hotel - our favourite on our 2 week tour around Eastern Europe. Very comfortable beds, rooms spotlessly clean, exceptional fresh food for breakfast and truly warm and welcoming staff, particularly Louie

Our stay at hotel Bellevue was very nice, we liked the atmosphere of the hotel, the reception was very kind every time. The closeness of city centre was a big benefit of the hotel. Breakfast was delicious, large selection of tasty meals.

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel, Bellevue hotel Český Krumlov. Everything was super clean, including the room, which made me feel comfortable right away. The room itself was cozy and relaxing, with nice touches like L'Occitane shampoo, body wash, and hand wash—very high quality. The front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They made check-in easy and were always happy to answer questions or offer advice. After I checked out, they even offered baggage storage, which was really convenient and gave me more time to explore without carrying my bags around. Breakfast was awesome, lots of tasty options. The location is perfect. It’s close to everything: shops, restaurants, and places to visit. Parking was easy, convenient, and affordable, which was a big plus. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable, and well-located place with great service.

The main thing is this. Our receptionist, not sure of her name but she was a bigger boned lass, was extremely clear in her desire to do nothing, especially when it came to helping us. She was extremely lazy, annoyed, and looked down on us the entire time because we were asking her to do things that were part of her job. Other than her though, the rooms were pretty nice, and location was great. P.S. - Don't visit the restaurant in the hotel. They got our reservation wrong, and then we spent 1:45 after we had been seated at the restaurant waiting for the main courses to arrive, and when they did, the waitress forgot my order and I had to wait another 25 minutes. The pizza place in town was great, I recommend going there.

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Bellevue. From communication before checkin, to the checkin process, and to my room and the breakfast, everything absolutely exceeded my expectations. And the location is ideal for exploring the old city. I only wish I had more time there. But when I return, I know where I will stay!

When visiting Cesky Krumlov in the summer, one of the top activities to enjoy is rafting on the Vltava River. You can easily rent rafts from various companies in town or book a guided tour online. Rafting down the Vltava offers a fantastic way to immerse yourself in the local culture, as you'll meet locals, raft together, and stop at riverside vendors for food and drinks.
What a lovely kayak trip. Great welcoming staff with great English. The explanation were exact. We did T1 trip which took less than 2 hours and was sufficient for us. It is a calm trip - not exactly "Rafting" in the extrem sense.... They have free parking. They pick you back from the ending point to the start. The only minus is it is CASH only.
Idan V — Google review
Spent about 6 hours rafting today. We all enjoyed it. Lots of people on the river. It was pretty. The company picked us up very quickly after we finished and were friendly and helpful.

Amazing adventure! Quick pickup with great music on the way to the starting point. Friendly staff – hope to visit again someday! ❤️👊

Really friendly service - even if you dilly-dally and take waaaay too long to get to your pickup point as we did. Rafting down the Vltava through Český Krumlov is a real must-do if you come here (in the summer). On the river, you will meet the locals, raft together, drink, eat, stop along the way at the riverside beer / sausage vendors - it's a total blast.
MyRadiotron — Google review
The river itself is beautiful and the route is mostly relaxed, with slides that are generally intuitive. However, on a crowded and heavily rainy day, the experience became problematic. The slides felt chaotic and potentially unsafe, and we were surprised there was no staff at these key points to monitor or assist. The vendor's logistics were also a bit of a letdown. Our pickup was late, with no one at Rozsyp point at time of arrival, and the boat exit point there is in a poorly chosen, fast-moving current which is very easy to miss, with no staff awaiting. When we struggled, a team member on the shore saw us but was completely indifferent. I would be hesitant to do this again with kids, especially when the river is very busy.

Best way to expierience the beautiful nature and the city od cesky krumlov. The people here are friendly and the rafts are good quality. Cash only though.

Hostel 99 is a charming accommodation option in Cesky Krumlov, offering dorms and rooms with some overlooking the river. The hostel provides a laid-back atmosphere and features dining facilities as well as a patio for guests to enjoy. Situated in a quiet location with views of the garden, it is conveniently located just a short drive from Asociace Golf Clubu Vetrni. Guests can take advantage of private parking during their stay.
Perfect location, friendly staff, comfortable and clean beds. Really enjoyed my time at Hostel 99. Best hostel in town! Has a nice kitchen you can use and board games to play. Connected to a nice restaurant/bar. Overall fantastic atmosphere and hostel. 100% recommended.
Kylie F — Google review
Read it all: Located in a historic part of town, it has all the basic functions of a hostel (not the Ritz, of course, no one would expect that). However, there are fundamental problems: - The staff, if available at all, are unhelpful, no one speaks a reasonable level of English, you can't find anyone at reception, you usually have to "drag" contacts out of the restaurant. - They also want to rip you off. No invoice, no official registration, recreation tax charged for children, etc. - The facilities are very poor. We could not eat at the same time (one adult with two children) because there was no spoon for example. I asked, they promised the next day, we have been waiting ever since. No toilet paper for 3 days. - There is dirt. The walls of the rooms are salty, we got chalky every time we touched the wall. We stayed 6 days in the hostel, in that time the bins were not emptied once, no washing up in the common areas, no change of wipes. There is a pile of linen and towels left by previous guests that have been pulled down and not taken away. - The door is regularly left open, anyone could come in and use the toilet and steal from the kitchen fridge... So apart from the layout and the spirit of the place, there is not much positive to say.
Hajnal H — Google review
Everyone at the hostel was extremely nice. It's a huge hostel, with a fantastic restaurant! If you're looking for a spotless environment, this is not for you. It was clean, but very very worn with a lived-in feel. We had 2 beds in a dorm and 1 of the private apartments across the street and it got really loud at night.
Ellie F — Google review
Great location, staff and comfortable beds. Only a few minor issues. The first being that our radiator was broken and we were frozen all night. I couldn’t close the window completely flush so there was a draft & we had to sleep in thermals. I would highly recommend a small mirror in each room, as it would be great to be able to get partially dressed in your own space (not the communal bathroom). There is also no where to hang your coat / umbrella, if it has been raining. There is plenty of wall space for both of these and it’s a very small thing that’ll make the rooms much more comfortable. I don’t know if I was just unlucky but everytime I needed the reception it was closed. I understand that the staff need to be elsewhere for maintenance but maybe there needs to be more cover? Checkout time was 10am, we were asked to strip our bed and take it to reception which was closed. We were then left in an awkward position of having to leave the main door (to the reception) unlocked as we had to give back our key. A service is offered to leave your bags but we had to take ours around the town for about two hours and come back a bit later when the reception staff had returned.
Cleo O — Google review
Location of hostel was great for us, who came with a car for one day stay. We park at parking P2, from which is just short walk up to hostel. From hostel it is just a short walk to the center of town. We were happy that our room was on “ground” floor and not up the steep stairs. Room was OK and view from it was great (on the small creek). Toilets and showers was OK too. The closeness of the restaurant is great. Kitchen is a bit small, but doable.
Nejc B — Google review
Very well located Hostel, the prices are alright but the rooms pretty basic, nothing more than 3 beds in the 3-bed room. Sheets are included and there are towels to use free of charge. They don't offer a breakfast, but therefor you have a fully equipped kitchen and restaurants/delis to have brekky for little money. There isn't really a common room to hang out, also we were there in October which is definitely not the main season so the town and the hostel are basically dead except for hordes of tourists taking photos. The staff is great though and they know where to go and what to do. I would recommend to stay there in the summer when there is more happening.

Pivovarská Restaurace-Brewery Restaurant-Brauhaus is a delightful spot that offers a pleasant environment and knowledgeable staff who can recommend beer even to non-drinkers. The cherry-flavored beer is particularly delicious, and the overall food and drink options are excellent with reasonable prices. Visitors can also combine a restaurant visit with a brewery tour and gallery exploration, making it suitable for families as well.
Restaurant inside the old brewery with a small microbrewery. The beer is great, there is even a herbal green beer not on the menu. The food is fantastic, and the portions huge. The one problem is that none of the staff spoke English or German, and basic communication with the servers was impossible.
Patric L — Google review
I entered the restaurant puzzled by why is there no one? I know the answer now. Skip, as it’s not worth your time. The claimed history and unique experience are just marketing words. Staff barely speaks English, which is fine but the attitude we were approached with by (I think) the manager was really rude + she gave me looks. Sharp and cold phrases, no interest in accommodating. The rest of the waitresses tried their best. Food was alright. We had goulash (3/5) and blue cheese with potato pancakes (this was really weird to my taste). Beer was good, tho served with 5 fingers worth of foam. Google states it’s open until 22:00, however we were told that they are closing at 21:00. When a group of 6 people came in at exactly 9pm - they were sent back, but they pushed on the Google opening hours and were allowed to stay. Raises questions. Then at 21:10 we were told that the place is closing in a minute, so we can have the last round of beers. We left by 21:40 passing the only sign with actual opening hours and it clearly stated: until 10pm. The mentioned manager was drinking wine and dancing behind the bar. Shame on the owner, such a waste of such a historic place full of potential.

We were here yesterday and ordered a "Brewmaster´s roastpan (for 4 persons)" . According to the menu it is included: Pork knuckle, duck and chicken leg, white and red cabbage, dumplings variation, crispy onion. We chose this mainly because of the pork knuckle. When they brought out the dish, we thought they were bringing out someone else's order (while we were waiting for the dish, we saw several times that they brought out the wrong table). But it turned out that the dish in the picture was indeed ours. We asked where the pork knuckle were from the dish? At first they didn't really understand what the problem was. Finally they told us there was no pork knuckle. This was not indicated either in the order recordings or afterwards. If they had, we would not have ordered it. We were told that they had put an extra duck leg in place of the pork knuckle. So according to them, 1 pork knuckle = 1 duck leg. We told them that 2 duck legs and 1 chicken leg is not a dish for four person. They didn't understand what our problem was, they obviously had a problem with the English language. At this point they obviously didn't like us daring to complain. Finally they brought us an extra duck leg. Then I asked where the crispy onions were? The waiter grumpily went and got it. Of course the food had gone cold in the meantime. The food and service should be 0 stars. The beer is good.

After so many good food in Cesky Krumlov, this is very bad... Do NOT order gulas! No meat at all, over burned onion and half kilo of bread that they advertise as knedlicke... Only normal food was cabage salad- after I put salt and pepper... 😡
Jana S — Google review
This restaurant has all the ingredients for a great experience: a large atmospheric hall, consistently good beer that has improved with the new brewers, and better service over the years. However, the food has declined with each visit. At my last visit, the food was quite poor: chewy meat, some dishes served cold, sides tasting bland and average, and the goulash was just terrible. Compared to what this venue should offer, and to other places in Český Krumlov, it was disappointing. This will certainly be my last visit.
Test 1 — Google review
The beers are genuinely great, but the service really lets the place down. We had to wait a long time to order, couldn’t order from every waiter, and often received the wrong portion size. Worst of all, we felt like we weren’t even welcome as guests.
Elza N — Google review
Wanted to dine. Came in from the street but the manager was very unfriendly. Did not want to talk to use at all… Left the place promptly
Krisztian G — Google review
After two years, we returned, but the experience was disappointing. The premises have deteriorated, staff performance has declined, and the food is average. Only the beer remains consistently good. The dining area feels uninviting, the restrooms are dirty with no locks or soap, and staff lack enthusiasm. Of four employees, only one worked decently. Guests aren’t greeted, and there’s no service or recommendations. Two staff members even mocked customers openly at the bar. The food is mediocre but reasonably priced. The beer is decent, but don’t expect help choosing. This place urgently needs better management and improved service.

Service, atmosphere, all fine, all is to be expected from an underground bikers pub. However be aware the pub displays stickers from Hells Angels style motorcycle clubs with far-right/fascist slogans and white supremacist ideology. It goes beyond symbolism, so this can't be supported.

Wanted to try this bar as it looked good on reviews. What a dump! There were three people, one smoking continuously at the bar speaking with the barman. You could smell the stale cigarette smoke from the front door. Why? So many other places in CK. Addition after Owners response: I have ridden bikes my whole life and been to many bars that your signage and memorabilia shows you would love to be. Your bar and bartender were a joke. The music is in English, posters etc in English and yet the barman is happy to ignore the traveller, refuse to engage in conversation, something Worldwide bikers love to do, and use the bar as his own trailer park trash conversational soap box. I stand by my review. A dump trying to be something it’s not.

(Translated by Google) This is private land and entry is prohibited. You can see the same scenery right next door, so there is no need to come all the way here. (Original) 여기는 사유지이고 출입도 금지하고 있음. 바로 옆에서도 같은 풍경을 볼 수 있으니 여기까지 올 필요는 없음

(Translated by Google) A very beautiful place from which you can see everything in Český Krumlov. (Original) Moc krásné místo, ze kterého je vidět vše z Českého Krumlova.

(Translated by Google) This is a pretty good scenic spot and is recommended. It's a pity that the weather is not very good for me (Original) 這是還不錯的地方觀景點,推薦可以來。可惜我這天氣不太好

(Translated by Google) Amazing view, worth the walk up, few people know about it. (Original) Csodálatos kilátás, megéri felsétálni, kevesen ismerik.

Nestled in a picturesque area, this station offers easy access to various destinations, making it an ideal starting point for your adventures. With comfortable waiting areas and reliable bus services, FlixBus Station Spicak ensures that your journey is both enjoyable and efficient. Whether you're heading out on a day trip or embarking on a longer excursion, this station provides all the necessary amenities to make your travel experience seamless.
(Translated by Google) Flixbus has improved significantly by including a seat in the price. This eliminates stress with less intelligent people fighting for a place to have the opportunity to take the best row. Another advantage, the drivers are professionals. Such long journeys and the bus lacks, for example, a clean dry toilet. Surely the cleaning department is responsible for that or the driver also takes care of it during rest periods? To summarize and underline. Thanks to the drivers and their professionalism, super. Otherwise, without WiFi and a toilet in frequent cases, when death from not cleaning, yuck. Shrnu a podtrhnu. Díky řidičům a jejich profesionálnalite supr. Jinak bez WiFi a WC v častých případech, kdy smrti od neuklizeni fuj.
