Churches & Cathedrals
Lincoln Cathedral is a medieval masterpiece that began construction in 1185 and took over 125 years to complete. Once the tallest building in the world, it boasted a spire reaching approximately 160 meters in height. The cathedral showcases Early English architecture and is renowned for its intricate stone carvings, including the famous Lincoln Imp. Despite losing its central spire in the 16th century, three of the original towers still stand.
Lincoln Cathedral is a big and beautiful church. Lincoln Cathedral is built in 11th Century and welcoming people around 1000 years. We need to take tickets to see the church inside, also providing the church tour as well. This church is situated in a steep hill. Lincoln's almost area is covered by steep hill. It was a good enjoyment to walk around the steep hill. We can enjoy the steep hill shopping.

I’m a big fan of cathedrals, and all across Europe they have their own flavour and style. Lincoln follows the Italian cathedral tradition of an enormous (and I really mean enormous) facade. And you can see it’s a facade, it overlaps the edges of the cathedral, but it’s still impossible not to be awed by the scale. No matter where you stand, yo aren’t going to fit that facade onto Yor camera, unless you’re using an ultra wide angle. It’s that big. So the facade is quite unique - Wells has something similar but Wells cathedral would fit in your pocket, yo have to be careful almost not to sit on it by accident. So Lincoln takes this facade to the nth degree, and it’s worth seeing for that. You’ll only see similar things in Milan, and (in a very different style) in Florence. The area around the cathedral is nice too - very traditional, cobbles, steep ungainly streets, closely packed cottages and townhouses climbing their way up these steep streets. This centre around the cathedral is the best bit of the town- the rest is somewhat modernised and has lost that air, so to see the real old Lincoln, you want to be around the cathedral. And the cathedral itself is worth a visit inside and around. I think there are prettier cathedrals - York for one, and more decorated inside (e.g. Ely) but Lincoln does a classic job with a large space. And it has layers of windows that breathe space into the building, it really needs to be experienced in person. And because Lincoln is not on the general tourist trail, you have it much more to yourself. So it’s peaceful, and occasionally, they hold some reasonably priced, and well-chosen concerts.

Found the whole cathedral stunning history. The architecture one of the finest cathedrals in the UK £12 to get in ticket lasts for 12 months. Future visits free. You cannot miss this attraction
Graham K — Google review
A beautiful Cathedral with lots of history. The tour is definately a must with so much information and things to see. But the walk up Steep Hill wow! There is an easier way up by steps the far side of the Cathedral but they do run a bus up to the top. Whatever way you go a must see when in Lincoln.
Barbara F — Google review
Visited the cathedral multiple times and what a beautiful place it is! Indulged in the tour, incredibly insightful and fascinating. The tour guide (Believe it was Dorothy, older woman with glasses and red earrings) was a joy to listen to and learn from, and incredibly knowledgeable. The tour was engaging and fun, with all questions being answered. The cathedral is stunning for a building that's a millennia old, and buildings like this need to be preserved for future generations to love and enjoy.
Dean — Google review
Very impressive on multiple levels. Most importantly of course there is the amazing architecture and rich history. But there is more. The absence of pews or chairs in the nave is refreshing, making it so much easier to imagine what this imposing space looked like in medieval times. They allow dogs, and dogs there were. Somehow this really enhances the welcoming feel of the place. Then there is the most amazingly beautiful Stations of the Cross, a modern work in wood comprising a generous fifteen works. I am a lapsed Catholic and agnostic, but I felt Christ’s suffering through it - a moving and somewhat surprising experience. Last, but certainly not least, we enjoyed one of the best tours I have ever experienced. Our guide, Christine, gave us insight in both architecture and history with deep knowledge and humour, and a particular sensitivity to the younger members of our audience that was very pleasing. All in all definitely a five star experience!
Ineke A — Google review
One of the finest cathedrals in the country, if not the finest. Dripping with history, but it helps to do your own research or take one of the tours to get the full picture and ensure you don't miss the finer, hidden details.

Museum
History Museums
The Museum of Lincolnshire Life, located in the heart of Lincoln, offers a fascinating journey through the social history of Lincolnshire from 1750 to the present day. The museum showcases a diverse range of exhibits including steam engines, period rooms, shops, and a working printing press. Visitors can explore various aspects of life in Lincolnshire such as domestic, commercial, industrial, and agricultural activities.
An amazing FREE museum film of history about farming and rural life and actual life too. It has an old living room, kitchen, a storage of bins, farming machinery and even a tank! And a kids playground. Abs in the first floor, there are pictures of Lincoln now and before, which is absolutely my thing, so I really loved it. Staff was friendly too.
Ondra V — Google review
A museum stuck in the seventies. However, it is very twee, and takes you back to how they used to be like. At first I thought it was going to be awful, but I can honestly say the place really grew on me. It is housed in a former barracks and actually works well as a themed room museum as it splits into separate areas really well. The guys on the reception were really friendly, obviously nice people, they explained how to follow the rooms round. Lots of old displays, mostly stuff that you probably have seen millions of times before, but it's quite sweet. Some stuff on WW1 and 2 but not too much of anything really. Not much in the way of modern technology, but I guess that would damage the atmosphere. I'm sure it really wouldn't appeal to anyone under the age of 40, but it's free to enter and mostly under cover. No obvious parking but various car parks nearby.
Brian M — Google review
Excellent collection of historic items showcasing the local history. Well displayed in a series of "rooms" and themed areas around the site dedicated to a mixture of domestic, retail, military, traction and farming items. Free entry to the museum and a small on site car park.
Stuart F — Google review
Just great. A free museum run by volunteers. Onsite cafe for coffee, cake and snacks. Lots of engineering and military memorabilia of Lincolnshire. Includes multiple farming machines and engines up the pride of the place - a WW1 tank.
Helen B — Google review
This is a nice little museum, good exhibits. Enjoyed looking around the vehicles. It doesnt take you long to go round, we went round it all within an hour, however as its free, somewhere to take the kids
Paul O — Google review
The Museum of Lincolnshire Life is a real hidden gem in Lincoln and a must-visit for anyone interested in history. The exhibitions are well laid out and give a fascinating glimpse into the county’s past, from agriculture and industry to everyday life. The highlight for us was the beautifully decorated period rooms — each set up in different themes from “the olden days.” Walking through them feels like stepping back in time, with so many authentic details to take in. The museum is well signposted, has good facilities, and is easy to get around. The staff were welcoming and happy to answer questions, which made the visit even more enjoyable. There’s also a lovely café on-site and plenty of space to take a break if needed. Best of all, it’s family-friendly and free to enter, which makes it great value. A wonderful way to spend a few hours soaking up Lincolnshire’s rich history

Lincoln Castle, a historic Norman fortress turned prison, offers visitors a captivating journey through England's history. Built by William the Conqueror in the late 11th century on top of a Roman fortress, it has served as a symbol of power and punishment. The castle houses one of the four remaining copies of the Magna Carta, allowing visitors to explore its history in a 210-degree cinema room.
Allow plenty of time for your visit as lots to see. Highly recommend the Roof tour too, £7.50 charged separately to entrance fee of £12.50. Lovely cafe too.
Pauline B — Google review
We mainly went for the cathedral; which was amazing. The castle was ok too. The best things about it are the views from the external wall walk and the film and display of the Magna Carta. A very important document on which most world democracy is based.
Mike S — Google review
Visited here while staying in the area. A STEEP walk up from Broadgate car park in the town…..get a taxi ? Its free to get into the ‘grounds’ and then pay more to do the ‘walls walk’ and more to see the Magna Carta/prison areas. A MUST is to join the guided walk to get the ‘chat’ about the various areas of the castle….So worthwhile. Cafe is very reasonable too.
Ian B — Google review
Great castle! The grounds are lovely to walk around. Prisons inside the grounds are really informative. Great for all ages! Views from the top of the walk are amazing of the city
Ashleigh — Google review
Had a great time at the castle, saw the prisons and the original Magna Carta. Lovely walk around the top of the walls. Shame the lift was out of order, you have to be fit to climb the spiral staircase. Well worth a visit.

Lincoln castle is amazing. Incl. Prisons, Magna Gata, Walk on fabolous Castle Wall with dragons . Family tickets have discount. Carpark is just beside. Highly recommended.

What a lovely place to visit, so much history. We had the best day out will bring our grandchildren next time.

This is really a fortress rather than a castle - simply a wall surrounding a former red brick jail. An enjoyable stroll around the walls gives some great views of Lincoln and the cathedral. Guided tours available of the jail.

Nature & Parks
Park
Hartsholme Country Park is a picturesque 100 to 200-acre park located just south of Lincoln city. It features Victorian landscaped gardens, a large reservoir, and beautiful woodlands with nature trails for exploration. Families can enjoy the children's play area and nearby attractions like Daisy Made Farm. The park also connects to Swanholme Lakes Nature Reserve, providing a habitat for various flora and fauna.
This is a beautiful park. It’s large and has lots of ancient and varied trees, lakes, s great play area, wildlife meadow, a cafe, toilets and camping area. It was 5pm when we arrive and the bird song was glorious. Loved the totem like statues, one appearing to float on the lake. The cafe was closed so I can’t comment on that but we enjoyed a leisurely walk over a great distance and will definitely return for a picnic and sunset.
Mal333 — Google review
Fantastic place with beautiful views to be seen. You’ll catch all different types of people here from dog walkers to families going to the park, from people jogging and exercising to others fishing and playing with remote controlled boats. Plenty of ducks and swans will be seen which you can feed and squirrels are all over these woods that are sign posted so you will not get lost.
Toby H — Google review
A rainy day well spent – beautiful park with great facilities! We visited Hartsholme Country Park on a very wet, rainy day and were honestly surprised at how enjoyable it was. The tree coverage is fantastic, offering natural shelter that made walking around much more pleasant than expected. There’s plenty of free parking, and the park is really well laid out, with clear paths and maps throughout. There are loads of different walkways leading to and around the lakes, and the wildlife is amazing – we spotted birds, ducks, squirrels, and even a few dragonflies. The children’s play area looked modern and well-kept, perfect for families. One big plus is the free public toilets, which were spotlessly clean, and there are even showers on-site for campers – a really thoughtful touch for those staying longer. As for accessibility, I’d say it’s disabled friendly to a certain extent. The paths are mostly flat and either concreted or gravelled, though slightly bumpy in parts. Still manageable for wheelchairs or prams with some care. All in all, a fantastic spot to enjoy nature – rain or shine. We’ll definitely be back, hopefully on a sunnier day to explore even more!
Grace P — Google review
Nice place for a walk. Trail markers would be handy for the routes around the park (and nature reserve) but we managed with taking a photo of the map board at the start. Obvious Blue Green Algae in most of the lake areas (mid September) Plenty of different mushrooms 🍄 to see and suitable for our dog to stretch her legs.
Heidi A — Google review
Lovely for a walk, the cafe is very handy for a cup of tea or even an ice cream if the weather is right. It’s never too busy, great for a stroll and a chat. The paths are all accessible, no steps or protruding roots. Very good for little ones too, but be careful of them by the waterside.
Amanda H — Google review
Great park for walking the dog, taking the kiddos, family, wheelchair, mobility scooter, etc... also good for a morning/afternoon/evening run! They do sometimes have events on for younger ones, look on notice boards, also rspb. This is a great place to just get back to nature a little. One of my favourite places to be ❤️
Nem — Google review
Nice clean tidy campsite in an beautiful location. Lots of good walking around the park and Swanholme lakes. Close to Lincoln with a bus stop nearby. Level pitches, some hard standings with EHU. Water point, bins and black drop nearby with grey drop outside the camping field. Clean warm toilet block with hot showers. A bit dated but functional. Best of all the staff who are friendly, helpful and made our stay enjoyable.

The International Bomber Command Centre in Lincoln is a memorial dedicated to the Bomber Command, which suffered the highest losses of any unit during World War II. The center aims to shed light on this often overlooked part of history and honor the thousands who lost their lives. Visitors can explore interactive displays and exhibitions that focus on recognition, remembrance, and reconciliation. The site also features two peace gardens paying homage to the 62 nations involved with the Command.
Located at the heart of "Bomber County", on the southern outskirts of Lincoln with breathtaking views of the city. There is a memorial wall, with all of the names of those whom paid the ultimate sacrifice whilst serving under Bomber Command during WW2. It is an ideal location in order to visit, should you wish to learn, reflect and remember the courage and sacrifice, of the greatest generation. Toilet facilities and cafe are extremely clean and thoroughly maintained. The gift shop is decent too. It's £3.00 for parking but entrance is free, unless you wish to access the exhibition upstairs. They also do free guides walking tours. Well worth a visit and I would strongly recommend.
Rusty B — Google review
What an amazing place to visit. We went to view the poppy display. We did a guided tour which was great. We found out so much more information than if we'd walked around on our own. The pigeon hunt for the kids was great as kept them interested. The food in the cafe was lovely. What a great couple of hrs we all had.
Rebecca H — Google review
The title of this memorial center in my mind is misleading. Yes there are many interesting pieces, articles and interactive presentations with facts on the operations and statistics of Bomber Command but really it's a living reminder of the sacrifices that young men and women made to allow us to have the freedom to live our lives in an open society. Excellent facilities, in a purpose built building large well kept grounds with modern memorial prices listing the name of those who gave their lives while serving in some capacity. Good parking, electric charger points ( only four requiring you to join another payment scheme) and the view of Lincoln cathedral at the spire is well worth the walk. There are guided tours of the grounds providing information on the story and history but wrap up warm as the site is on a high point and the wind cam be cold. Excellent cafe with good food and service and an interesting gift shop. Worth buying tickets up front as it is very popular.
Leigh H — Google review
Very informative, moving monument, well laid out with a cafe serving very good hot and cold snacks. Well worth a hour or two. You pay to enter the exhibition, or can walk the grounds for free.
Trevor S — Google review
Very moving. Been here several times now. Good to see the poppies displayed as a Lancaster Bomber. Great shame we couldn’t see it from above to get a better view of it. Food very good but very slow at delivering the meal to you. Parking was fine as we have a disabled cars.
Dianne N — Google review
Having served for 38 years in the Royal Navy and Reserves, this sort of memorial just brings home to me the tragedy and absolute stupidity of war. To see the tens of thousands of names who perished in WW2 is really poignant. Of course, this part of the UK was peppered with fighter and bomber bases, so it's absolutely the right location. There is a load of seating outside to sit and reflect, the excellent Hub café which needs more seating at busy times and a well-stocked little shop. Lots of information in the exhibition area too. It's a long overdue memorial and most impressive.
M S — Google review
Fantastic place , the interactive team game is a hit with the kids , lots of great videos and artifacts to see. Highly recommend it. About 2 hours worth of information to see and read and stuff to do!
Szymon E — Google review
A great place to visit for a few hours to understand the importance of the area and bomber command. Plenty of parking spaces and pay the £3 at reception. There are toilets and a nice cafeteria offering a good selection of food and drinks. The memorial offers free guided tours free of charge that takes about 45 minutes we had a very interesting guide, Ian Whapplington, who walked us around and provided interesting stories and anecdotes. There is a shop available and you can also pay to see the exhibition. Very helpful and friendly staff. We were there for a couple of hours. The other bomber crew memorial is in London near Green Park.

Located in the cultural quarter of Lincoln, the Arboretum is a 19th-century park spanning 22 acres. Designed by renowned Victorian gardener Edward Milner, it holds Grade II historical importance and has been recognized as one of Britain's Best Parks. The park features beautiful gardens, two ponds, fountains, bridges, and a Victorian bandstand. It also includes a small play area for children.
This is a nicely kept public park, open till 10 pm. There are some small areas of formal planting (rose garden is nice) but for the most part it is landscaping with a nice collection of trees, and some garden features (pond, maze, shelters). It is on a steep hill (this is Lincoln!) with some big flights of steps with no handrails, but there are step free routes around most of the park. Nice place for an evening wander or a sit down.
Andrew J — Google review
The arboretum is a lively green space in the City that’s very dog friendly. We had a lovely walk but at this time of year the trees are bare. I’ll definitely return in the spring when the maze is green. May be I’ll bring a picnic. There are some nice features like statues, a little water feature and bird filled lakes. I took a bus but you can easily walk from the Cathedral area. I can’t comment on the cafe as it’s not open at weekends in the winter.
Mal333 — Google review
A very cute and beautiful park just up from the town, you can find free on street parking on st annes road. Toilets and cafe werent open but the kids park was open and had a good few things for children of all ages. Its clearly well kept, plenty of benches and areas to sit down, the ponds and wildlife areas were well maintained too. Generally a lovley spot for an afternoon stroll, taking the kids out, a dog walk or a different place to get outdoors.
Grace P — Google review
Lovely park with lots of friendly people and dog walkers. Would avoid later in the evenings as there seems to be a lot of teenagers and young adults behaving inappropriately— drinking and drugs. Always one of my favourite parks in Lincoln though!
Daniel P — Google review
Pretty city centre park. Two fountains, pretty ponds, statues, lovely planting, seating, grassed areas and a coffee shop with toilets nearby. Free to enter. Also a bandstand and playback.
Bev M — Google review
It’s indeed a beautiful experience in the greens at Lincoln Arboretum. I enjoyed every moment and scenery, my babe really loved it there and we’ll visit over and over again.
Shakirudeen A — Google review
Nice small park to walk around or sit in the sun when we eventually get some. Small pond, big café, dilapidated hedge maze and a couple of stinky knackered fountains. To be fair the local council should be ashamed of the neglect and give it a bit of tlc. Everything seems to be half hearted with no real plan to make the most of this little asset.
Brian M — Google review
Maybe not a classic arboretum but there are definitely trees around ! Lovely quiet area, lots of wildlife when peace descends in the evening. Also plenty of places for kids to let of steam without unduly disturbing the tranquility of the area. Plenty of seats for a picnic, a quiet read or just a silent contemplation

Jump Inc Lincoln is an indoor trampolining and inflatable park suitable for all ages, making it a great activity to have fun, keep fit, and spend time with family and friends. Visitors praise the decent food, fair drink prices, and spacious environment that doesn't feel overcrowded. The staff members are commended for their friendliness and helpfulness, going above and beyond to ensure a great experience for guests of all ages.
We attended the Toddler Takeover session during half term and I was worried that it was going to be busy. That was not the case and my daughter (who is small for her age) had a great time exploring without getting trampled by bigger children. I only read the reviews the night before we came and I was anxious that it wasn't going to be a good experience based on what I'd read. None of the poor reviews were evident when we came - although we only met two young members of staff, they were incredibly friendly and helpful. A real asset to the company. The equipment was not dirty as some reviews had suggested - yes it was a struggle to slide down some of the shorter slides but they weren't visibly dirty and the bigger slides were fast. Overall I was very pleased with the toddler session and feel it was good value for money.

When we arrived, we had to pay £2.50 each for socks, it doesn't say on the website that you have to buy their socks, my friend had the same style of socks from a different jump place but wasn't allowed to wear them, and got forced basically to buy more. I do think it's unfair when we will never be coming back here again! Also to help the cost and to help the environment, they should buy the socks back off you, when you have finished and wash them as a part of recycling ♻️ Over all thought it was clean! Except for the toilets that weren't clean. Plenty of stuff to do! But very limited to children under the age of 1.3metres. There is alot of parking around the building. Which is free.

🌟 3/5 Stars – Bouncy, Smelly, and Slightly Confusing Jump Inc: where children defy gravity for an hour and parents contemplate life choices from sticky benches. The kids loved their hour of bouncing – they bounced so hard they briefly forgot how to walk normally. Big thumbs up for the trampolines, which remain the highlight (and the only reason we’re all here, let’s be honest). Now, a round of applause to management for finally doing something about the Slush Zone of Doom™. Last time we visited, that area smelled like someone had mixed up slush puppies with a hint of old socks and regret. The slush machine is now staff-operated – you have to ask someone to make your drink, which adds a fun new game: “Find a Staff Member Who Isn’t Avoiding Eye Contact.” Unfortunately, the venue still has its signature aroma – a nostalgic blend of cabbage and mystery. The toilets… well, they’ve seen things. The kind of things that change a porcelain soul forever. Overall: kids had a blast, my nostrils filed a complaint, and I left craving a shower and a Febreze sponsorship. Would I go again? Probably. But only after mentally preparing myself… and bringing my own air freshener.

I come in quite regularly on the evenings, although it seems the staff are rushed off their feet, Korey has always been so helpful and lovely, especially since my son has some complex needs, he’s always there to accommodate us. I hope he gets the recognition he deserves because he’s a credit to the team! It would be nice to see some more staff so the others don’t have so much pressure.

Came to use the soft play today and it was so lovely. Really quiet and clean although the upstairs of the building was ridiculously hot so would potentially take shorts with us next time for my little one. Jake was great and helped us carry prams up to the soft play so they weren't left unattended while we played. Was such a nice experience and will definitely use the soft play again. Jake was also super knowledgeable and anything he didn't know he made sure to find out for us

Had a bad experience during my son's birthday party 6 months ago where half of the guest was send into one party room, the other into next, only to find out 5 minutes into their jumping time that were meant to be yet in third room, which cut time away from fun. Also untrained staff used same serving gloves to serve normal pizza and gluten free pizza, contaminating food. Since the new company took over you get much less for your money paying for party package then it used to be. I wasn’t going to go back but my son’s friend had his party there so we went. I ordered food (needed to be gluten free) using the QR code, paid and got invoice. Hour later still no food so went to counter only to be told that their QR codes are not working and my order has not gone through. My son had to sit and watch his friend enjoy their food due to their thoughtlessness. And you cannot even complain because their link to complaints page is not working. I would suggest to stay clear of the place and go and use the Bounce at Carlton centre instead.

Had an absolutely brilliant time at Jump Inc in Lincoln! The whole place is full of energy — loads of fun, super clean, and the trampolines are in great condition. Whether you’re flipping into foam pits or just bouncing around, there’s something for everyone. But what really stood out was the outstanding customer service, especially from a supervisor named Travis. Travis was honestly incredible — professional, friendly, and full of positive energy. He made the whole experience even better with how approachable and helpful he was. What really meant a lot was how empathetic he was with my youngest daughter when she got upset. He took the time to talk to her gently, made her feel safe and comfortable, and helped turn her mood around completely. That level of care doesn’t go unnoticed, and it made a huge difference to our day. You can tell Travis genuinely cares about the people who come through the doors — he’s a credit to the team and a big reason we’ll be coming back

Had a great time at Jump Inc Lincoln! The space is big and well laid out, offering a wide variety of activities to keep both kids and adults entertained. It wasn’t too crowded when we visited, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The staff were really friendly and helpful throughout. Overall, a fun and well-run place — definitely worth a visit!

The Lincoln Medieval Bishops' Palace, located in Lincolnshire, England, stands as a ruined yet imposing structure that once served as the administrative center of the largest diocese in medieval England. Despite suffering damage during the Civil War, its former grandeur is still evident through features like the East Hall and vaulted undercroft. The palace offers sweeping views over the ancient city and countryside and includes 1430s additions by Bishop William Alnwick.
I turned up here on a day in Lincoln expecting it to be a nice half an hour, 45 minutes or so. No - I spent a good 2 to 2 and a half hours looking around the ruins. The little museum inside was interesting with the video tour voiced by a monk who sounded far too drunk - very amusing. The ruins aren't extensive but very interesting. The tracery of a buffet in one part is superb, as is that of an adjacent window. The barrel vaults of part of it are very long and although quite ruined, very beautiful. The restoration and cutaway-like roof of the kitchens is very interesting - parts look almost like they're new because of the restoration work. The new gardens are interesting and have a good idea and even better views - I liked the vineyard even if it was small and the wrong time of year. The garden could do with some trees however to complete the vision. One final thing to look out for is the tower by the entrance. The vault at the bottom is very impressive and modern-looking despite its age. The best part is that there is a small, almost hidden door from where you climb up to two rooms above and get nice views of adjacent rooftops through the windows.

Lovely way to spend an hour or so next to the Cathedral. It's very atmospheric and has been tastefully restored without ruining the history. Great views over the city at the back. There are loos, a shop and coffee machine and a small exhibition with a video and information. The staff were amazing and one sat and went through all the badges (which members can collect) to make sure my son had a unique one. It made him so happy 😊

Much more to see than I had anticipated. The site is fairly large with a small exhibition and shop in the visitor centre.

Thank you English Heritage - worth 10 stars, brilliant 'hard hat' tour of this amazing building. The information we received on this tour with the 3 (EH, Architect, builder/stone mason) was exceptional. I would highly highly recommend booking this. We learnt more about archeology and renovating ruins than ever we could wandering round on our own. This is a working site, having started 18 mths ago with 6 months left. Remarkable work, painstakingly taken care. I think its the opportunity to be with 3 hugely professional guides that make this tour quite unique. If you're an English Heritage member then don't miss this opportunity. Fascinating.
Polly W — Google review
Can't wait for the restoration work to be done and the whole site to be open again, did the free open part for something to do a few good views and a real teaser to what you can see when its going to be completed . Views from the tower are pretty good.

An interesting site is sitting next to the cathedral. It is only small but must have been impressive in its day. Guide book avadible and information boards dotted around. There are a lot of steps, including the entrance, into the palace grounds. Toilets and gift shops with cold drinks are avadible. There is a new way to get to the entrance, which I signed posted. There is no car park on the site, and I think parking around the cathedral is limited to an hour.

The New Theatre Royal Lincoln is a plush auditorium that hosts a variety of popular shows, including theatre performances, concerts, musicals, ballet, and pantomimes. Along with other excellent venues in the city like the Lincoln Drill Hall, it contributes to a thriving theatre scene in Lincoln. The venue has faced challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic but continues to provide top-notch experiences for its patrons. Visitors appreciate the attentive staff and accessibility features such as raised platforms for easier navigation inside the theater.
Lovely intimate theatre. Has the best front of house staff. Friendly, genuinely interested in this theatre and in being helpful. Seat pricing is really good value, so you can afford take a punt on something different There is a good range of shows, from well known comedians to 'proper' plays and everything in between. Love this theatre.

I was with my daughter at the performance of "Alice in Wonderland". What can I say... the theater is small, cozy atmosphere. But what was upsetting about being there was that it was very cramped in the hall. The small space between the rows and the legs were numb from the uncomfortable position. Unfortunately, this factor greatly interfered with enjoying the performance to the fullest.
Diana K — Google review
As a old theatre its a great place to experience. However bear in mind that the seats were designed many years ago and can become increasingly uncomfortable after about 30 mins [For me]. We booked the stalls as they offered more leg room than the circle.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5 – Budget Snacks, Tiny Seats, and the Great Escape (From the Retirement Village) Took the kids to Lincoln Theatre for a family show, and honestly? It was just right. The show was fun, totally kid-friendly, and—most importantly—finished just before the little ones got bored and started trying to eat the program. Timing: nailed it. 🎭👏 Now, let’s talk about the theatre itself. If you’re into vintage charm (and by vintage, I mean one lightbulb away from a haunted house), you’ll love it. The place is old—like “has seen a lot of pantomimes and possibly the war” old. The seats? Think airplane legroom but made of wood and regret. My knees haven’t forgiven me. Food and drink, though? A pleasant surprise! Prices were so cheap I thought I’d time-travelled. A drink and snack without needing to remortgage the house? Iconic. And the staff? Let’s just say it was being run by what looked like a lovely escape party from the local retirement village. Everyone was sweet, slightly confused, and walking around with that “I once saw Judy Garland live” energy. All in all—great for kids, entertaining enough, and worth it for the snacks alone. Just maybe stretch before you sit down.

Art gallery
Wedding venue
Nestled in the heart of historic Lincoln, The Usher Gallery stands as a prominent art center alongside The Collection, an acclaimed archaeological museum. This 1927 gallery is renowned for its collection of paintings by Peter de Wint, antique watches, and Tennyson memorabilia. Visitors can take a leisurely stroll through the surrounding gardens and sculptures that were once part of the Temple Gardens laid out in 1834.
Nice gallery with modern and historical art. Nice to see the history of Joseph Banks alongside Grayson Perry's vases.
Lesley P — Google review
I rated four stars because the staff are very friendly, and for the most part there are some remarkable pieces kept here that tell a compelling story of Lincoln and it’s history, as well as maintaining the creative legacy of artists from throughout history, around the world. Unfortunately following my visit today, I left feeling less inspired than when I walked into the gallery which, in my mind, accomplishes the opposite of what a gallery is supposed to. You’ll read that this is no fault of the gallery or their staff, but an unfortunate sobering realisation of where the arts has been heading for some time. Upstairs, the gallery hosts new exhibits in their effort to keep the place fresh and exciting to us; you’ll find new pieces from blossoming artists looking to display to the world the things they work so hard on (fair play to them!), and pieces afforded to be in the gallery a la various prestigious institutions that I presume pay the gallery to host these exhibits (I could, of course, be wrong). The drawback to all of this is that the gallery is put in a tough spot, as I get the impression the gallery’s few choices are to host strange university events, adhere to divisive and politicised industry standards in the work they put on display, and/or showcase talent (or, daresay, lack thereof) that doesn't necessarily belong side by side next to classical era busts or remarkably detailed paintings. I would sadly say some of the work you see upstairs is detrimental to the integrity and quality of the gallery, and to our experience going there. ***It’s not their fault***, like I said, I imagine they have little to no movement and, more importantly, funding. They not only need to remain open, they need to maintain some form of growth, and it’s unfortunate that the art industry has seen a massive drop in standards over many years. It’s like how the quality of food that we put into our bodies affects the quality of our health. We can control our diet, but it depends on what we can afford and what is accessible, nutritious, etc. And so this problem isn’t at fault of the Usher gallery and their staff, they are amazing. I just feel they are are sad victims of circumstance, and its important we support them by visiting the gallery, donating, etc, and its important we remain steadfast and objective when talking about the quality art, especially when holding it in high enough esteem it gets hung in a gallery. That’s when gloves come off. I don't want to discourage artists, I encourage anyone to pursue the arts, literally everyone, but there ARE standards that are unfortunately deteriorating. I’ll add some pictures that showcase the large gap in quality in some of the work. The classical era sculpture has form, femininity, and depicts humans from a point fixed in time. The bronze head didn't really have anything that told me about the person depicted, who they were, where they were from. The same goes for the paintings, the first shows me people doings things, wearing particular clothes, surrounded by buildings of the era. The weather and detail in the ground almost makes you feel cold, damp, but warm surrounded by people doing things; life! the second painting is bizarre, the person looks ugly: they have bad posture, underbite, and strange eyes. The brush strokes are lazy, thick, and the colours aren’t nice to look at. This is my honest opinion of how I felt following my recent visit, and my honest critique on some of the work on display. It was as equally sobering as it was like a fever dream! but my main take away is that art is under attack, and we need to be vocal in supporting local institutions and against the degradation of standards. Beauty is important in art! not just… “I made something” tl;dr: art is under attack

Wonderful mix of modern and historical art Grayso Perry sat a few feet away from Turner, with wonderful stone statues in between as well as modern art displays. Very interesting, lots of info and a nice little gift shop. Could spend a couple of hours in there

Another Lincolnian jewel. Truly overawed to find a clockmaker from Barton on Humber, connected to John Longutude Harrison, who made Components for him and also repaired his maritime clocks. His clocks are on display here. Also the Grayson Perry vase is a wonder and the paintings are exciting. The staff are so helpful, they engage very well. Just a wander round this old merchants house is worth the bother. The place also seems to double up as an arts and events studio, some classical music playing while I was there to add to the atmosphere.

Ice cream shop
Coffee shop
Daisy Made Farm is a charming destination just off the A46 in Skellingthorpe village, offering a delightful experience for visitors of all ages. The farm features a cozy coffee shop serving homemade ice cream made from the farm's own cows' milk, with over 60 flavors to choose from. Families can enjoy petting small animals like rabbits and guinea pigs, as well as observing goats and alpacas. For some friendly competition, there's a crazy golf course available.
I came here for the ice cream shop which didn’t disappoint! From what I gathered, the ice cream flavours vary day by day, depending on what has been made. There were about 10 flavours to choose from and some that I’d never tried before. The ice cream is freshly made and it was very nice. There was a queue but it was a hot sunny day so I wasn’t surprised. We waited about 10 minutes. Parking is free and there is plenty of it!
Jenny D — Google review
When the sun is out and the sky is blue, you can be sure to see Daisy Made will be heaving. Plenty of choice and flavours, very reasonable prices, and plenty of things to do with the children. It is well worth a visit and it’s worth coming back time and time again. Do bear in mind there are two entrances, one is the drive thru and a few yards further down is the main entrance for parking and sitting around awhile. Highly recommended.
Kathryn H — Google review
Enjoyable experience for an hour or twos venture out. Even though they can get quite busy on the weekends there has always been plenty of parking and the staff manning the cafe are always speedy and polite meaning the queue for ice cream goes quite quickly! The icecream itself is lovely and there is always a good selection to choose from- we have not tried the drive through but it is a great addition! The mini golf is a great addition to lengthen your time here which we definitely enjoyed. My only reason for a 4/5 instead of a 5/5 is that our ice cream eating was slightly disturbed by a staff member angering the wasps in the bins next to us by wacking them with a fly swat… didn’t really do much but annoy them. I don’t think this would be a problem if it wasn’t so hot though! Overall would recommend for a mini trip out ☺️
Seren P — Google review
Free parking made arriving super easy, and the facilities were spotless – even the toilets were very clean and well-kept. There’s plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, so it’s a great place to relax no matter the weather. The ice cream was absolutely delicious, with generous portions and lots of flavors to choose from. On top of that, being able to see the animals was such a wonderful bonus and made the whole experience extra special. A perfect place for families or just a fun day out – highly recommend!

Brilliant. We were on this boat 7 yrs ago for my daughters wedding reception, and the owners couldn't have been more obliging then, or now. This trip was a Groupon offer for my grandson and I. Great value. We did set off earlier than the advised trip time as it was full, so get there in good time if you don't want to miss it. Loads of information about the River Witham, live on boats, Lincoln history etc. Also the owner makes it very personal with her commentary. Snacks and drinks are available at very reasonable prices. The toilet was out of order, hopefully not for too long, otherwise absolutely perfect way to while away an hour.

Cafe
Hobbsons Restaurant and Pie Shop is a historic eatery located near Lincoln Cathedral on Steep Hill. Housed in a 17th-century building that was once the lodging of T.E. Lawrence, it has an atmospheric vaulted cellar and even boasts resident ghosts. The restaurant, established in the late 1980s, is known for its gourmet pies with imaginative fillings such as game and fish varieties.
Simply superb. First of all, we had booked for 7 pm but we had run out of things to do so we asked the staff if they could move us to 6 pm and they did. I had the cheese soufflé to start with. I thoroughly recommend it. For main courses, we both had one of their pies. I had the venison one. The pastry was delicious and so was the inside of the pie. Desserts were very nice too. If we return to Lincoln, we will make sure we visit this place again.

Brought 2 pies to cook at home after our visit to Lincoln. Amazing pies. Full of tasty filling and lovely pastry. If only they did mail order. Will sit down inside when we visit again.

Ate here at lunchtime and it was mostly brilliant. I had the steak in ale pie and my partner had the pulled pork pie. I chose the triple cooked chips with my pie but i cant tell you what theyre like as theyre skin on and i hate potato skins, but the pie was amazing. It was packed with tender steak. Then i had the sticky toffee pudding and my partner had the cheesecake. My only criticism was the pudding was served on a plate with quite a runny custard. It looked pretty but it was a challenge to eat the custard without tilting the plate. The staff were extremely friendly. The service was quick (food arrived much quicker than we expected) but maybe it was partly because we were ahead of the lunchtime rush. We also took home a couple of sausage rolls which we've just eaten and will definately be going back for more of. Fairly priced too given the amount of sausage in the roll.

We visited last week whilst seeing some friends in Lincoln and receiving the suggestion despite not being a huge pie fan we decided to give it a go. The pies were packed with flavour and the pastry was perfect. I had the steak and ale and my partner had the venison, both cooked beautifully and full of tender meat. Service was brilliant. Ari looked after us throughout and was friendly, professional and attentive without being over the top. It really made the experience. We finished with the sticky toffee pudding which was rich and comforting. The whole place had a warm, relaxed feel and the food came out quickly. We’ll definitely be coming back.

We visited on our way home from a short holiday in the Lincolnshire Wolds, primarily for the Sculpture Exhibition in the gardens, but after some serious traffic hold-ups, by the time we arrived all we wanted was lunch, so dived into the Farm Shop Cafe. Excellent - pretty busy, but we got a table straight away, the food was very good, service extremely efficient. Refreshed, we walked off our lunch around the sculpture gardens. Including an indoor exhibition there are some 300 works exhibited - we probably saw them all (took photos of about 100 or so!). There is something about seeing sculpture in the outdoors, the way it is juxtaposed against the natural world, which enhances most works, and this was a very impressive collection. (And there is a wealth of information on the website, it has been extremely well put together.) To conclude our visit we spent more than we should have done in the impressive and high-end farm shop - the locally-produced apple juice and the little yellow Mirabel plums grown in the gardens definitely recommended. Couple of things to note: the sculpture exhibition is only on until 7 September, and the RHS and Gardener's World discounts which are usually valid do not apply as normal during the exhibition (apparently there have been ructions at the ticket desk, so this is an advance warning!) We didn't visit the hall, so can't comment on that (looks impressive though) and without the sculpture exhibition - which is only there for a few weeks - the grounds would be a different type of experience. So we may well come back to see how it all works!

Visiting twice in two weeks, having coffee & cake in cafe was delightful despite being busy! Staff friendly & professional, serving orders quickly (with a large group second time). Gardens are wonderful to explore, for the sculptures at the first time of visiting. A nice, convenient cycle route from Lincoln, across fields on bridle paths

Marvellous place. Well kept and interesting house with stunning gardens, very pleasant and knowledgeable staff. Cafe was very helpful in preparing lactose free sandwich and the venison pie was great.

It is an amazing historical place to go and visit. There is so much history in this place. Artefacts that have been collected from 1600 through to present day. It's definitely worth a visit, you won't be disappointed. Also, fantastic food in the cafe and an extensive gift shop too.

My friend & I took our dogs to The Grain Store restaurant at Doddington Hall. We chose to sit outside, as it felt like a lovely fresh day (over cast but pleasant, not humid). We had a cappuccino each, as it wasn’t 12:00 & we came for lunch not brunch. When we were ready I ordered a vegetarian curry (chickpeas & coconut) with pilau rice, a side dish of chopped tomatoes, red onion & cucumber, & garlic & coriander naan. My friend ordered the venison & smoked bacon Koftas on flat bread with a side salad (& fries as extra), both with a drink of orange cordial & water (very thirst quenching). The staff are friendly & very helpful. We most certainly didn’t wait long, which very much surprised me, as they were extremely busy, the food was served very quickly. Absolutely delicious! Lovely & fresh, we enjoyed every mouthful! Then after a rest, we decided to have a pot of tea with a scone, jam & cream. Superb!!!!!! 👌 we will most certainly return, & most definitely recommend!

Every two years Doddington Hall has a Sculpture Exhibition and this year the opening day was Saturday 20th July which also happens to be my birthday! We arrived in glorious sunshine and thoroughly enjoyed the day. This was our third exhibition. The parks and gardens looked stunning; the perfect setting to display the amazing sculptures-I truly believe there was something for everyone, no matter what your taste. I think there were fewer kinetic pieces this year but I loved the tiny mole, the stunning horse and the heads. I would also visit Doddington just to see the gardens-the formal gardens were a riot of colours and scents and I’m always impressed by the vast array of produce in the kitchen garden. Lots of opportunities for food and drink, a well stocked shop, a bike shop and lots more means that this really is a great day out! Edit August 2025: it’s now an annual event! Yay! Absolutely fantastic!

Bransby Horses Rescue and Welfare, located in Bransby, Lincolnshire, is a sanctuary for over 300 horses, ponies, donkeys, and mules. The center offers visitors the opportunity to meet these animals and learn about their stories of rescue and rehabilitation. Set within 600 acres of picturesque countryside with scenic pathways to explore, it also features a charming cafe for refreshments.
We had a wonderful visit to Bransby horses. All the horses and donkeys looked happy and well cared for. They currently have a pumpkin patch, as it's October and we bought a couple of pumpkins. The food in the cafe was delicious, we had pancakes and maple syrup and came back later for spiced pumpkin milkshakes. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. They also have an adventure playground and a lovely gift shop with new and secondhand items. Free entry but donations are welcome and of course all donations go to the upkeep of the wonderful animals there. Amazing day out, would highly recommend!

Lovely place, great staff, great food and dog friendly. Nice to see all the horses happy in the fields. Highly recommend a visit. Free to get in but they welcome any donations to help keep the place going.

An absolutely brilliant day out - despite the rain. With the family being heavily involved with agriculture and equine, I know how important and amazing a charity and rescue centre like this is! The staff, waitresses and facilities are all great. Clean and spacious shop, cafe and outdoor toilets. My ham, egg and chips were so tasty. The map was helpful to work around all the horse paddocks - the little walkways were all clearly signposted and the horse paddocks were spaced out well. Didn’t get to see the donkeys but the horses and shetland ponies were plentiful! Also, if you don’t know much about horses, there’s plenty of noticeboards and posters to teach you about the equine world! Defo be returning!

loved this place, took my Grande for her first time going! The horses, although not very interactive, were very friendly when they came close. I was particularly fond of this one white Shetland who laid her head in my lap and drooled. The staff in the cafe are absolutely lovely and the food was great too! Will definitely be coming again!

Lovely horses. They do amazing work for the rescues. The cafe has delicious food and a play bit for the kids and a shop.

Lovely way to spend 3-4 hrs with pony mad tweens. Gift shop, coffee shop and second hand shop. Can buy activity trails for the walk round. A number of the fields were empty during this visit which may have meant they were being rested - although it would've been nice to have been able to see a few more ponies, we enjoyed the ones we could see. Nice picnic lunch at the play area.

What a wonderful place. I spent a lovely day there last week. They do such good things rescuing horses that are at risk and looking after them until they are in good health and able to be rehomed. The ones that are not suitable for rehoming are looked after until the very end. One can walk around the spotless stables until exhausted, able to stroke and talk to the animals. They do not only save horses of all shapes and sizes but mules and donkeys too. The staff are friendly and very ready to answer all queries. To add to all that there is a very good and welcoming cafe and well stocked charity shop. If after your enjoyable visit you could make a small donation to help with vets bills and numerous expenses I know everyone there would be most grateful. Another idea would be to volunteer!!!

I often visit Bransby. The atmosphere is lovely and it is so nice to see the horses and donkeys so happy. I take my dogs and they enjoy it too. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Amazing venue, really large stage, drinks are reasonably priced, they look after too as it gets really hot in there.

Good music venue with house sound and lights set up. Beers are not what you find in pubs. For some reason they call plastic glasses cups ?. Nice clean toilets.

First time visiting this venue. Absolutely fab place to watch a band. Tucked away in a side street, the only down side was there was no parking, however there are public car parks near by. The venue is an old Drill Hall which sets a great surrounding for live music. Has a wall of fame showing some great bands & names who have previously played there. The sound & lighting were very good. Good facilities for bands, large green room with back stage toilets. Would definitely return 🎵

We had an absolutely fantastic time at The Drill! From start to finish, everything was incredibly well-organized and professional. The bands were excellent — top-quality live music with great sound and a brilliant atmosphere. Ticket sales were smooth and efficient, and the security on the door were friendly yet professional, making everyone feel welcome and safe. The venue itself was spotless. The bar was well-stocked, reasonably priced, and offering some great drink deals. The outdoor area was a great bonus, offering space to step outside and chat without missing out on the vibe. All in all, The Drill is a top-tier venue and a real asset to the local scene. We’re already looking forward to the next visit!

My first time at The Drill last night, Londoner now living up here. Been following Alabama 3 for too many decades now. Last night was as good a venue as I’ve been in. Band on form, great sound system and acoustics, intimate like having them in your front room, loos clean as a whistle, bar was great, staff were brilliant, low key security, easy entry. Just perfect. 👌 Sleaford mods next. The Drill is perfect. Well done 👍🏻 Totally recommend this venue. Some great music scheduled.
Elmsy — Google review
It's a great little venue with an outdoor and indoor drinks/seating space - roomy and much needed on a warm summer night. The one negative was a lack of air-con in the main stage making it stifling and uncomfortable on the night we attended. I didn't get to watch the whole show as I needed air and a cool down every 3 songs.

Whisby Nature Park, located just off the A46 in Lincoln, is a stunning green expanse that has been transformed from a former quarry into a beautiful landscape filled with lakes, woodland, and abundant wildlife. The park offers visitors the opportunity to explore nature trails, spot various bird species, and enjoy outdoor activities such as playing on the treehouse over the lake or in the sandpit.
A fabulous place to spend a few hours, bird watching from the paths and hides, or just enjoying a stroll. The paths are all wheelchair friendly too! There's a good range of hot and cold food, drinks and cakes in the large and airy visitor centre with a young, friendly team. All this for a £3 car park charge. Fantastic value, a great day out for everyone. I can't recommend it highly enough.

A beautiful and very peaceful place. Easy flat parking ( costs a few pounds ). Lovely visitors centre overlooking the lake with cafe and gift shop. Plenty of different walks to suit all walking styles and mainly flat on good paths. An abundance of wiildlife especially waterfowl. Great open space for kids or dog walkers to enjoy too. Easy to find off the Lincoln Relief Road too.

Whisby Nature Park is a truly special place. The moment you arrive, you’re welcomed by expansive wetlands, serene lakes, and well-maintained trails that make it easy to immerse yourself in nature. Whether you’re a casual walker, a keen birdwatcher, or just looking for a peaceful escape, there’s something here for everyone. We took our toddler, and it’s incredibly child-friendly. There’s a brilliant water-themed area, a sandpit, and an indoor activity and play area — perfect for little ones to explore. The walk itself is lovely too, with plenty to see along the way, and our toddler really enjoyed it. The visitor centre and café are excellent – friendly staff, great coffee, and lots of information about the park’s wildlife and conservation efforts. It’s obvious that Whisby is lovingly cared for and managed with both visitors and nature in mind. If you’re in the area, Whisby Nature Park is a must-visit. It’s a place where you can slow down, breathe deeply, and enjoy the outdoors as a family.

Very much a family place. Something for everyone. The parking us reasonable for a visit, spending time walking and visiting the café. Love the walks - Spring the birds come in and you can see sea birds nesting. We especially like Autumn as that's when the fungus are out, so many different varieties to see.

A really cute, lake based Park with a few lovely walks, areas for dogs to go swimming, benches to take in the beautiful scenery along with the nature Centre being on site. We visited this place for a casual afternoon out, and was happy to see the parking was cheap, free parking after 4 pm, nicely laid out and well kept footpaths, with information on boards as well as little guideline arrows along the walks, not many dog poo bins or bins in general on the routes but found this was the only downside. They have a lovely climbing frame and play area for the children And plenty of room to escape the fast pace life and relax within the nature. I believe there was also a café by the nature Centre, but we did not divulge.

Just did a few walks and into the cafe, very good indeed. A tip for turning right on A46.. Go left, and go around the roundabout ... Much safer, worth the extra time just incase.

This spot is truly a gem for a relaxing stroll or a fun outing with your furry friend. The little ones always have a blast exploring the nature center, discovering all sorts of cool things. Plenty of parking and not too expensive, so no worries there. It's a great place to unwind and soak up some fresh air. The trails are well-maintained and offer a nice change of scenery. You might even spot some interesting wildlife along the way. It's definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a peaceful escape.

The Lincolnshire Road Transport Museum is a charming small museum showcasing over sixty beautifully restored buses, cars, vans, lorries, fire appliances and motorcycles. Visitors can immerse themselves in nostalgia as they explore old road signs, uniforms and ticket machines. The museum offers a stunning collection of road transport vehicles spanning 85 years. Additionally, the facility provides accessible paths for wheelchair users and families with buggies to navigate through the woodland.
Can not recommend this place enough!! Ask for Paul to do your tour if available. We home-educate our daughter and were only in the area for 4 days, so emailed about visiting on Thursday, at 10 pm Wednesday. We then had a reply to confirm a visit was available at 9 am Thursday morning! Once we arrived we had a guided tour from Paul, who was patient with the kids (my 2-year-old son also came) gave information relevant to their age & interests and was so kind. Well worth a visit, the kids could also go into a few of the buses, rang the fire engine bell, and were in awe of the size colours and scale of everything! Also it's free to enter, they just ask for a donation!
Emma W — Google review
A volunteer run museum showcasing a substantial collection of road transport mainly from the local area with a particular emphasis on buses, however, also a collection of cars, vans, and cycles. Access allowed to the exhibition area and the workshops all for a small entrance fee of £5. Free on site parking.
Stuart F — Google review
Absolutely fascinating. Very busy, lots of families, great to see children so excited and interested in these old vehicles. The museum is larger than I had envisaged, with much more than vehicles here. Road signs, photographs, badges, vehicles waiting to be renovated, an AA box, rooms kitted out as old workshops .... and on it goes. Bus rides all day, always full - there must have been 4 or 5 out constantly. We went on the open topped bus, a good 20 - 30 minutes ride. Fabulous. Lots of enthusiastic volunteers, lot's of people reminiscing. The cafe didn't really keep up, too many visitors I think. Long queues at times, and most definitely not enough toilets .. but that was acceptable given the huge numbers there. I really hope people donated generously, this was a free event, even the bus rides were free (I personally think there should have been a small charge, at least to cover the fuel used on each run), given the amount to see and do I would wholly recommend a visit to this amazing museum. There are various 'events' on during the year - see their website and don't miss out !!!!

This is the hidden gem in Lincoln where we hosted our little boys 4th birthday party. From start to finish our experience was absolutely amazing. From the very get go Alison on reception was super friendly when we emailed her and she bent over backwards via email communication to support us in everything we needed for our party! Budget friendly 100 percent! £9.99 per head for all day access to the whole site and our very own party planner! This included unlimited soft play, food buffet (unlike most places we were not rushed off our tables), access to garden centre, access to outdoor sandpit/ play area and feeding the animals! They also have a brand new ice cream parlour! The party planner was a god send as we were in a flap and offered to help from everything to helping us put up decorations/ balloons, storing our cake in a chiller in the kitchen, bringing the cake back to the party area and even cutting the cake ready to go into party bags! All of the parents attending never knew anything about Whisby garden centre, but they all want to return! Thankyou for making our little boys birthday so special Whisby and we we all see you again soon!

It was glorious *before* the new cafe but now its next-level. You walk through the lovely shopping arcade with great value products, then you turn right at the top and are met with a beautiful airy light spacious cafe/restaurant space. The accessibility is perfect too, level flooring throughout. My husband and I sat out on the balcony area which looks out over the gorgeous duck pond. Very clean and beautiful. We were even greeted by the (in) famous black Swan! The food itself was top notch. You could definitely tell the produce was local. Also the cakes and desserts cabinet was mindblowing! I've never seen so many gorgeous delights!
Becca ( — Google review
The setting is lovely with attractive furniture, but the atmosphere could be improved. Instead of the plastic décor hanging from ceiling to floor, I would have loved to see plants from the Garden Centre itself. Potted bedding plants would showcase what’s on sale while adding natural colour and warmth to the café. I ordered the Warm Goat’s Cheese, Beetroot and Walnut Salad, which was supposed to come with toasted ciabatta — but it never arrived and was supposed to be served warm. There was also no dressing provided, leaving the salad quite dry. Adding salt and pepper pots, balsamic glaze and olive oil to tables would really enhance the food experience. Unfortunately, the salad was disappointing: only four walnuts, no dressing, and missing the ciabatta — and yet the price was high for what it was. Overall, a beautiful location but the food and presentation need improvement.
Chloe B — Google review
Visited cafe this morning however, will not be visiting again. Unfortunately the young staff in the cafe found it very hard to smile and say thank you. There didn’t seem to be anyone managing the cafe staff. Although there were two staff behind the counter they took absolutely ages to acknowledge me. I really felt I was an inconvenience. My friend and I eventually ordered a tea for one and a latte. When the drinks were brought to our table I couldn’t believe that my tea was in a mug with a tea bag in it. The milk was in a bottle which seemed rather strange to me. When I requested a tea spoon I was told we only have wooden stirrers. The whole visit was very disappointing.
Lee W — Google review
I wish I could leave a separate review for the cafe. The garden center itself is great. Nice staff. Well laid out. Good product range at fair prices. Our visit to the cafe left a lot to be desired. The free water smelt eggy and some of the staff were unpleasant. An older lady with short, purplish dyed hair and dark rimmed glasses charged around the restaurant looking annoyed - muttering at me when I dared not leap out of her path when I was carrying four drinks on my own. Another lady, with a pony tail and tattooed arms had a very peculiar manner, getting huffy and puffy about THEM making a mistake with our table number, then storming off without a word when I clarified a point regarding our order. My jacket potato was tasty and cheap, but I didn't appreciate some members of staff being so irritable and unpleasant. I felt unwelcome and would have walked out were it not for the fact we were taking a grandparent for lunch.

If you're looking for a fun-filled indoor adventure for your little ones, Playzone is an excellent choice! Families can enjoy a hassle-free experience with organized check-in procedures and friendly staff who are always ready to help. While there’s a limit on the number of adults allowed per child, this ensures safety while still allowing quality time together.
What a great little find for us while we are staying in Lincoln. Very reasonable prices to enter. Some of the best slides we have come across at a soft play including a large drop slide. Kids had a great time for the couple of hours we spent at Playzone. We arrived early on a Sunday morning as it opened and it wasn't too busy. We have had a great morning here. 👍

The most AWFUL experience. Thick dust across the carpets, splinters hanging out the wooden stairs to get to the slides. Hot dog was absolutely VILE. The place hasn’t changed since I was a kid. Staff could have at least pretended they wanted to be there. Olivia was really rude, looked my daughter up and down several times and rolled her eyes when we wanted to order drinks

Pre-booked online to come here today with my 11 year old and 8 year old. I was kind of dreading it as it is Easter holidays, but was pleasantly surprised how organised the check in and out times were made by the staff, by following the wristband system. Plenty of parking. It was very easy to arrive in, the staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a sitting area downstairs and upstairs. There are lots of different ways to climb, 4 different slides one with a ball pit at the bottom, a dark maze, a toddler area up to the age of 4, this was sectioned off. The whole playing area is suitable up to the age of 15, which is ideal, and adults can also take part! The food wasn't great, the bread roll was dry, but otherwise not bad for a cafe inside a play centre. I would definitely be back again, my two loved it.
Hayley N — Google review
Didn’t like it one bit there was staff chasing my kids around the whole area. I was having a party and brought in my own cake, and half of the cake was gone and the slices they cut was unbelievably small. The staff just had a problem with us as soon we walked through the door and me personally i think they are gypsy racist cause I’m a gypsy myself and the way they were acting is crazy. And they said to my 4 years old child that she’s going to call the police and of course my child is going to be scared and cry and the staff said it’s because of she was playing up on one slide once and believe it or not it was a superviser who has been doing all of this. And in the party room she was talking to my child like an animal it’s just unbelievable the staff is meant to be “kid friendly”. And the food was disgusting and the play area was so stinky even my kids was saying it too. And once i confronted her about it she kicked me out, the whole time it was bad never coming back ever again.

I had the greatest time here with my nicest, the staff especially the young lady called Freya was so kind and patient, she was the star of this experience in my eyes

Really Great experience, went with a few friends and we did axe throwing. Was definitely a great laugh amongst friends. The staff are lovely and very helpful providing demonstrations on how to best throw an axe.

Came here when it was raining and was told by staff me and my freind could could continue going after our session and were also told we could have a free shuffleboard session. Would highly recommend.

We had a great evening here with two of our friends. The staff were super friendly and I loved that they came round to offer tips on throwing techniques if you were struggling (like I was!) The games were fun and it was nice to have different gameplay options. Battleaxe was our favourite. Would definitely book again, really fun way to spend an hour or so with friends.

Pleasant staff, so friendly and fun. The venue was spacious and welcoming, Jack was very knowledgeable and gave us a good experience, will be coming back with more friends and to check out the escape rooms!

We went axe throwing as a small group - Mollie was amazing and hospitable, and the venue looked really cool! We will definitely be back again to try the golf!

Absolutely brilliant time, today 09/03/23 Ryan was really helpful as I was totally useless at it. By the time he had helped me I actually managed to get it in the target 😆 place is really funky and worth the visit, not expensive, staff very helpful and friendly especially Ryan already planning next visit xxxxx

Boultham Park is a picturesque green space located in Lincoln that spans across 50 acres and features a range of amenities. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks along the River Witham, discovering the woodlands and observing the vast array of wildlife found within them. The park boasts an impressive lake, children's play area, bowling green, zipwire, fountain garden and band stand for community events.
This is a lovely park with a large lake and lots of birds, a zip wire, a playground, a bandstand, a cafe and the Linkway College. I live the dense wooded areas that change throughout the seasons. The giant topiary is very attractive and my favourite time to visit is when the autumnal leaves are brown and falling. You’ll see a lot of excitable dogs and their dog owners. There are also public loos mead the cafe and Boultham Road entrance. The park is served by the number 6 and 9 buses and there’s a small car park.

A pleasant park that seems to have it all. We enjoyed the water splash area with our grandchildren and had some nice food from the café there. Later we walked through the grounds and rose gardens in full bloom, and enjoyed a leisurely stroll by the river-lovely

My dog and I love our walks in this park. We have met so many lovely dogs, and their humans, on our walks. There are toilets, picnic areas, beautiful lake, woodland walks and a cafe.
Heather M — Google review
Peaceful place with trees, lake, and walking paths. However, there are too many dogs, not always on the leashes.
Aneta G — Google review
Very nice park. Quite large. Many areas. Open nicely cut grass areas. Lines and patches of trees. Some areas left wild grass etc. also has a nice lake. Cafe looked ok too although didn't use it. Toilets were also actually.open! A bonus these days

Very much like this park. Usually go to Hartsholme Park which is 5 minutes from us but is now just mud everywhere and becoming scruffier and scruffier😡. Assume due to lack of staff and money. Boultham did have some muddy area this morning but you have lovely tarmac paths to walk on so can stay relatively clean. There are two play areas for kids, a cafe and plenty of large grass areas to throw the ball for your dogs. Relatively safe for dogs apart from some openings leading out onto a very busy road😲. From a distance the openings appear to have gates attached which presumably could be closed? I know my friend will not take her dog to this park as she is so frightened he will end up on the road. The lake is beautiful with loads of different birds on. Overall, the park is kept pristine and would be a great place to visit at all times of the year, especially in the Summer. Large car park at entrance with no charge!
Shirley G — Google review
Lovely park and great facilities. Duck pond, park, wooden area with squirrels and birds. Lots of green space for running around and trees for a shaded picnic. The cafe is quite expensive but it is nice food.
Louise G — Google review
Great open space with plenty of tarmac footpaths. Walk around the lake to spot the artwork and read the information boards. Stand on the deck to watch the swans and ducks. Zip line and basket ball hoop for older kids. Walk around to the band stand with open field for playing ball or running about. Enclosed play area for children. Walk around the house foundations and stop for a brew at the cafe and visit the loo if needed. You can then wander around the woods to spot squirrels and loop back around to the lake.

Hill Holt Wood is a serene and pleasant forested area that offers a delightful experience for nature enthusiasts. The woodland walk is highly recommended, providing a tranquil atmosphere and opportunities for dog walking. Additionally, the tea room serves delicious food while boasting friendly staff who contribute to the overall welcoming ambiance. However, the signage leading to the park could be improved, and it would be ideal if it were open on weekends.
Great social enterprise & Beautiful hidden gem. The cafe and packed earth venue make a great spot for a wedding!

Went to photograph Fungi which were few & far between. This is a small wood with good natural paths & plenty of seats along the way. Very quiet maybe because it was early morning. It does get a bit boggy in places.
Maddy M — Google review
Lovely place to get away from the hustle and bustle. Good walking paths and great location to hold a special party.
Margaret N — Google review
A very nice and peaceful woodland walk, stopped off to walk the dogs a few times now and well worth the visit. Nice tea room and food with some friendly staff gives an overall nice atmosphere. Only drawback is the signage when approaching and a shame it isn't open on weekends.
Neil C — Google review
Nice venue though we were attending for a funeral so an emotional time. The staff were lovely though… Probably only complaint would be the signage… we arrived just in time, after seeing more of the area than we would’ve liked.
Amy S — Google review
Nice food. Great woodland retreat. Cajea are all home made and the English breakfast they do is the best Go for a walk after eating and the wildlife is second to none. So peaceful Compost toilet can get a bit smelly though but always good to be green

My little grandaughter and I stopped in at the Hive cafe for some lunch before we explored Hill holt Wood. I opted for a bacon roll and the staff were happy to be flexible and just give my granddaughter bacon. Our food was delicious and the china my tea was served in was beautiful. We decided to sit outside (a dog friendly area, although we didn't have our dog with us today) lots of butterflies visited the area whilst we were there. We enjoyed lunch so much we returned later for coffee (me) and cake which was delicious. The staff were really pleasant and helpful and really made us feel welcome. we will certainly be back.

Hanworth Country Park Holiday Accommodation & Brewers Bar/Cafe is a new establishment located just a short drive from Lincoln in the charming village of Potterhanworth. The park features four fishing lakes with various fish species, making it an ideal spot for fishing enthusiasts. Additionally, the site offers camping options including field and woodland lake-adjacent plots with modern bathroom facilities. Guests can also enjoy optional extras such as lake fishing and hot tubs.
Excellent 4 days here in mid June for a fishing trip. Fishing was good, tried a different lake each day and caught well on them all. Very good bar/ cafe on site and the whole place is kept spotless. Also the staff were very helpful and friendly, especially Melanie in reception who helped me in booking the trip. There were 6 people in our party and all have said it was the best fishing trip we have been on and would definitely return.

Our holiday was great , lodge was really good beds were comfy. Great fishing. Lovely hot tub. Only 1 criticism 😔 well not criticism id say advice was the bar it wasn't advertised when we booked in of the times it was open ,closed and food times so im sure we missed out on some lovely food and enjoyable nights drinking and talking. But overall I'd say 99% of our holiday was great.
Donna H — Google review
I never write reviews but felt I need to I’ve been to so many campsites but this is the worst I’ve ever been too. This could be an amazing site with proper thought. The train noise is so loud the pitches are right next to it and it’s all day all night one night it was every 15 minutes you can see them flying passed like a plane coming in. I stayed for 7 nights and got basically no sleep. The shower blocks are good but they can be used by male and female and all the fishermen use them which is wrong they need separate ones for the fishermen. I wouldn’t feel safe with my kids using them on their own In fact I’m surprised it’s allowed. The locks are stupid everyone just keeps bursting in they need normal turn locks not metal spring back drilled in wood. The restaurant is good food nice enough but one night we thought we would go up for a drink to the young lad to say to us sorry we are shut they shut over an hour early. To top it off on our last night there was new people that came and played music until 12.30am shouting and swearing. I read the leaflet thinking I could call the warden but no number you need to walk and get it from reception. So if there’s a problem you need to walk in the pitch black for a number at reception. All parks should be manned there is no warden or anything so people do what they want. I paid a premium at £280 for a week and I need a weeks holiday to get over it which is a shame as I was so looking forward to it. There is so much land it would make much more sense putting the touring pitches in a field away from the trains with a separate shower block.

I’d like to think we’re very seasoned when it comes to camp sites now after many years of going across the country to different sites & this is up there with one of the best ones, pitches very good, the scenery is also amazing & the on site pub/cafe it absolutely top level can’t stress that enough, the food is extremely good, hats off to the chef they deserve all the credit with how good the food is and reasonably priced which is hard to find these days. Can’t fault the place as a whole at all, toilets really clean and modern also. One last shout out to the chef keep doing what your doing your doing an amazing job, the breakfests were fantastic the eggs were absolutely perfect as was everything else & the lunch time food was extremely good aswell with the sandwiches & the evening food was extremely good too I had the bacon and cheese burger which was perfect. Top draw can’t recommend enough, peaceful place and a really good site overall! 10/10 ⭐️

I have walked around the site at Hanworth Park with my wife and the dogs. It is always a pleasant experience - a tranquill hidden gem with beautiful scenery. There is waterboarding which I hear is very expensive compared to other places. The coffees, beer and food are all very good. Again rather on the expensive side. The reason for this review however is to highlight that whenever we go there is usually an issue with the service. Yesterday my cousin booked a table for 3 and then rang back to add more people to the booking. The call took over ten minutes as the staff seemed to be getting confused over what was quite a simple request. Eventually he paid the £30 deposit and the table was booked. We ordered a starter for my cousins young daughter (x1) and four main meals all to come out at the same time. Sadly that did not happen. Sav ate most if not all of her soup on her own. Then two of the mains came out 10 minutes later. After a further ten to 15 minutes we enquired as to where the other two mains were. They came out 5 minutes later, by which time my wife and my cousins wife had all but finished their meals. Then the vegetables for all four meals came out. Meaning that once again the meals were all but cold and half eaten by the time the vegetables came out. We had to order the puddings right at the beginning, which at least gave ample time for those dishes to be accounted for and prepared. When we had finished out mains, after being there an hour or so, we were told that they had run out of ice cream, which I did mention was poor considering how early we had ordered them. Then they managed to somehow find some ice cream from somewhere. It really did seem like there was no organisation or communication between the kitchen and the front of house. I went up to pay and was ready to complain but was quite happy with the £94 bill. Luckily my cousin attended the till area with me and he had to point out that a £30 deposit had already been paid... So the waitress was going to be mistakenly overcharging me. In the end it cost me £64 but the service was absolutely shambolic, as such I will not be buying anything from the bar restaurant ever again. There should have been a partial refund, but for my cousin I was almost overpaying.

Lovely site we have visited a few times now. Very friendly staff, lovely bar and food. Disabled shower room looking a little tired now but still very useable. This site would greatly benefit from a laundry room and dog wash
