Churches & Cathedrals
Lincoln Cathedral is a medieval masterpiece that began construction in 1185 and took over 125 years to complete. Once the tallest building in the world, it boasted a spire reaching approximately 160 meters in height. The cathedral showcases Early English architecture and is renowned for its intricate stone carvings, including the famous Lincoln Imp. Despite losing its central spire in the 16th century, three of the original towers still stand.
Lincoln Cathedral is a big and beautiful church. Lincoln Cathedral is built in 11th Century and welcoming people around 1000 years. We need to take tickets to see the church inside, also providing the church tour as well. This church is situated in a steep hill. Lincoln's almost area is covered by steep hill. It was a good enjoyment to walk around the steep hill. We can enjoy the steep hill shopping.

I’m a big fan of cathedrals, and all across Europe they have their own flavour and style. Lincoln follows the Italian cathedral tradition of an enormous (and I really mean enormous) facade. And you can see it’s a facade, it overlaps the edges of the cathedral, but it’s still impossible not to be awed by the scale. No matter where you stand, yo aren’t going to fit that facade onto Yor camera, unless you’re using an ultra wide angle. It’s that big. So the facade is quite unique - Wells has something similar but Wells cathedral would fit in your pocket, yo have to be careful almost not to sit on it by accident. So Lincoln takes this facade to the nth degree, and it’s worth seeing for that. You’ll only see similar things in Milan, and (in a very different style) in Florence. The area around the cathedral is nice too - very traditional, cobbles, steep ungainly streets, closely packed cottages and townhouses climbing their way up these steep streets. This centre around the cathedral is the best bit of the town- the rest is somewhat modernised and has lost that air, so to see the real old Lincoln, you want to be around the cathedral. And the cathedral itself is worth a visit inside and around. I think there are prettier cathedrals - York for one, and more decorated inside (e.g. Ely) but Lincoln does a classic job with a large space. And it has layers of windows that breathe space into the building, it really needs to be experienced in person. And because Lincoln is not on the general tourist trail, you have it much more to yourself. So it’s peaceful, and occasionally, they hold some reasonably priced, and well-chosen concerts.

Found the whole cathedral stunning history. The architecture one of the finest cathedrals in the UK £12 to get in ticket lasts for 12 months. Future visits free. You cannot miss this attraction
Graham K — Google review
A beautiful Cathedral with lots of history. The tour is definately a must with so much information and things to see. But the walk up Steep Hill wow! There is an easier way up by steps the far side of the Cathedral but they do run a bus up to the top. Whatever way you go a must see when in Lincoln.
Barbara F — Google review
Visited the cathedral multiple times and what a beautiful place it is! Indulged in the tour, incredibly insightful and fascinating. The tour guide (Believe it was Dorothy, older woman with glasses and red earrings) was a joy to listen to and learn from, and incredibly knowledgeable. The tour was engaging and fun, with all questions being answered. The cathedral is stunning for a building that's a millennia old, and buildings like this need to be preserved for future generations to love and enjoy.
Dean — Google review
Very impressive on multiple levels. Most importantly of course there is the amazing architecture and rich history. But there is more. The absence of pews or chairs in the nave is refreshing, making it so much easier to imagine what this imposing space looked like in medieval times. They allow dogs, and dogs there were. Somehow this really enhances the welcoming feel of the place. Then there is the most amazingly beautiful Stations of the Cross, a modern work in wood comprising a generous fifteen works. I am a lapsed Catholic and agnostic, but I felt Christ’s suffering through it - a moving and somewhat surprising experience. Last, but certainly not least, we enjoyed one of the best tours I have ever experienced. Our guide, Christine, gave us insight in both architecture and history with deep knowledge and humour, and a particular sensitivity to the younger members of our audience that was very pleasing. All in all definitely a five star experience!
Ineke A — Google review
One of the finest cathedrals in the country, if not the finest. Dripping with history, but it helps to do your own research or take one of the tours to get the full picture and ensure you don't miss the finer, hidden details.

Museum
History Museums
The Museum of Lincolnshire Life, located in the heart of Lincoln, offers a fascinating journey through the social history of Lincolnshire from 1750 to the present day. The museum showcases a diverse range of exhibits including steam engines, period rooms, shops, and a working printing press. Visitors can explore various aspects of life in Lincolnshire such as domestic, commercial, industrial, and agricultural activities.
An amazing FREE museum film of history about farming and rural life and actual life too. It has an old living room, kitchen, a storage of bins, farming machinery and even a tank! And a kids playground. Abs in the first floor, there are pictures of Lincoln now and before, which is absolutely my thing, so I really loved it. Staff was friendly too.
Ondra V — Google review
A museum stuck in the seventies. However, it is very twee, and takes you back to how they used to be like. At first I thought it was going to be awful, but I can honestly say the place really grew on me. It is housed in a former barracks and actually works well as a themed room museum as it splits into separate areas really well. The guys on the reception were really friendly, obviously nice people, they explained how to follow the rooms round. Lots of old displays, mostly stuff that you probably have seen millions of times before, but it's quite sweet. Some stuff on WW1 and 2 but not too much of anything really. Not much in the way of modern technology, but I guess that would damage the atmosphere. I'm sure it really wouldn't appeal to anyone under the age of 40, but it's free to enter and mostly under cover. No obvious parking but various car parks nearby.
Brian M — Google review
Excellent collection of historic items showcasing the local history. Well displayed in a series of "rooms" and themed areas around the site dedicated to a mixture of domestic, retail, military, traction and farming items. Free entry to the museum and a small on site car park.
Stuart F — Google review
Just great. A free museum run by volunteers. Onsite cafe for coffee, cake and snacks. Lots of engineering and military memorabilia of Lincolnshire. Includes multiple farming machines and engines up the pride of the place - a WW1 tank.
Helen B — Google review
This is a nice little museum, good exhibits. Enjoyed looking around the vehicles. It doesnt take you long to go round, we went round it all within an hour, however as its free, somewhere to take the kids
Paul O — Google review
The Museum of Lincolnshire Life is a real hidden gem in Lincoln and a must-visit for anyone interested in history. The exhibitions are well laid out and give a fascinating glimpse into the county’s past, from agriculture and industry to everyday life. The highlight for us was the beautifully decorated period rooms — each set up in different themes from “the olden days.” Walking through them feels like stepping back in time, with so many authentic details to take in. The museum is well signposted, has good facilities, and is easy to get around. The staff were welcoming and happy to answer questions, which made the visit even more enjoyable. There’s also a lovely café on-site and plenty of space to take a break if needed. Best of all, it’s family-friendly and free to enter, which makes it great value. A wonderful way to spend a few hours soaking up Lincolnshire’s rich history
Grace P — Google review
Had a lovely time apart from the rain that day lol both my parents one with Alzheimers fully enjoyed the place honours a lot of memory's of how we used to live back in the days the military part was very interesting and the details were spot on . Would recommend e en on a raining day to visit staff were friendly and the cafe was clean and food was lovely . Will be visiting again .

Castle

Historic Sites
Lincoln Castle, a historic Norman fortress turned prison, offers visitors a captivating journey through England's history. Built by William the Conqueror in the late 11th century on top of a Roman fortress, it has served as a symbol of power and punishment. The castle houses one of the four remaining copies of the Magna Carta, allowing visitors to explore its history in a 210-degree cinema room.
Allow plenty of time for your visit as lots to see. Highly recommend the Roof tour too, £7.50 charged separately to entrance fee of £12.50. Lovely cafe too.
Pauline B — Google review
We mainly went for the cathedral; which was amazing. The castle was ok too. The best things about it are the views from the external wall walk and the film and display of the Magna Carta. A very important document on which most world democracy is based.
Mike S — Google review
Visited here while staying in the area. A STEEP walk up from Broadgate car park in the town…..get a taxi ? Its free to get into the ‘grounds’ and then pay more to do the ‘walls walk’ and more to see the Magna Carta/prison areas. A MUST is to join the guided walk to get the ‘chat’ about the various areas of the castle….So worthwhile. Cafe is very reasonable too.
Ian B — Google review
Great castle! The grounds are lovely to walk around. Prisons inside the grounds are really informative. Great for all ages! Views from the top of the walk are amazing of the city
Ashleigh — Google review
Had a great time at the castle, saw the prisons and the original Magna Carta. Lovely walk around the top of the walls. Shame the lift was out of order, you have to be fit to climb the spiral staircase. Well worth a visit.
Sam C — Google review
Lincoln castle is amazing. Incl. Prisons, Magna Gata, Walk on fabolous Castle Wall with dragons . Family tickets have discount. Carpark is just beside. Highly recommended.
Tommy — Google review
What a lovely place to visit, so much history. We had the best day out will bring our grandchildren next time.

This is really a fortress rather than a castle - simply a wall surrounding a former red brick jail. An enjoyable stroll around the walls gives some great views of Lincoln and the cathedral. Guided tours available of the jail.

The International Bomber Command Centre in Lincoln is a memorial dedicated to the Bomber Command, which suffered the highest losses of any unit during World War II. The center aims to shed light on this often overlooked part of history and honor the thousands who lost their lives. Visitors can explore interactive displays and exhibitions that focus on recognition, remembrance, and reconciliation. The site also features two peace gardens paying homage to the 62 nations involved with the Command.
Located at the heart of "Bomber County", on the southern outskirts of Lincoln with breathtaking views of the city. There is a memorial wall, with all of the names of those whom paid the ultimate sacrifice whilst serving under Bomber Command during WW2. It is an ideal location in order to visit, should you wish to learn, reflect and remember the courage and sacrifice, of the greatest generation. Toilet facilities and cafe are extremely clean and thoroughly maintained. The gift shop is decent too. It's £3.00 for parking but entrance is free, unless you wish to access the exhibition upstairs. They also do free guides walking tours. Well worth a visit and I would strongly recommend.
Rusty B — Google review
What an amazing place to visit. We went to view the poppy display. We did a guided tour which was great. We found out so much more information than if we'd walked around on our own. The pigeon hunt for the kids was great as kept them interested. The food in the cafe was lovely. What a great couple of hrs we all had.
Rebecca H — Google review
The title of this memorial center in my mind is misleading. Yes there are many interesting pieces, articles and interactive presentations with facts on the operations and statistics of Bomber Command but really it's a living reminder of the sacrifices that young men and women made to allow us to have the freedom to live our lives in an open society. Excellent facilities, in a purpose built building large well kept grounds with modern memorial prices listing the name of those who gave their lives while serving in some capacity. Good parking, electric charger points ( only four requiring you to join another payment scheme) and the view of Lincoln cathedral at the spire is well worth the walk. There are guided tours of the grounds providing information on the story and history but wrap up warm as the site is on a high point and the wind cam be cold. Excellent cafe with good food and service and an interesting gift shop. Worth buying tickets up front as it is very popular.
Leigh H — Google review
Very informative, moving monument, well laid out with a cafe serving very good hot and cold snacks. Well worth a hour or two. You pay to enter the exhibition, or can walk the grounds for free.
Trevor S — Google review
Very moving. Been here several times now. Good to see the poppies displayed as a Lancaster Bomber. Great shame we couldn’t see it from above to get a better view of it. Food very good but very slow at delivering the meal to you. Parking was fine as we have a disabled cars.
Dianne N — Google review
Having served for 38 years in the Royal Navy and Reserves, this sort of memorial just brings home to me the tragedy and absolute stupidity of war. To see the tens of thousands of names who perished in WW2 is really poignant. Of course, this part of the UK was peppered with fighter and bomber bases, so it's absolutely the right location. There is a load of seating outside to sit and reflect, the excellent Hub café which needs more seating at busy times and a well-stocked little shop. Lots of information in the exhibition area too. It's a long overdue memorial and most impressive.
M S — Google review
Fantastic place , the interactive team game is a hit with the kids , lots of great videos and artifacts to see. Highly recommend it. About 2 hours worth of information to see and read and stuff to do!
Szymon E — Google review
A great place to visit for a few hours to understand the importance of the area and bomber command. Plenty of parking spaces and pay the £3 at reception. There are toilets and a nice cafeteria offering a good selection of food and drinks. The memorial offers free guided tours free of charge that takes about 45 minutes we had a very interesting guide, Ian Whapplington, who walked us around and provided interesting stories and anecdotes. There is a shop available and you can also pay to see the exhibition. Very helpful and friendly staff. We were there for a couple of hours. The other bomber crew memorial is in London near Green Park.

Theaters
The New Theatre Royal Lincoln is a plush auditorium that hosts a variety of popular shows, including theatre performances, concerts, musicals, ballet, and pantomimes. Along with other excellent venues in the city like the Lincoln Drill Hall, it contributes to a thriving theatre scene in Lincoln. The venue has faced challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic but continues to provide top-notch experiences for its patrons. Visitors appreciate the attentive staff and accessibility features such as raised platforms for easier navigation inside the theater.
Lovely intimate theatre. Has the best front of house staff. Friendly, genuinely interested in this theatre and in being helpful. Seat pricing is really good value, so you can afford take a punt on something different There is a good range of shows, from well known comedians to 'proper' plays and everything in between. Love this theatre.

Lovely venue and facilities with helpful staff. Plenty of good parking within easy walking distance. A great first visit and would be more than happy to return for future shows.
Darren H — Google review
Went to see Rythm of the Dance. A nice little theatre. Staff very helpful and friendly. Comfortable seats. If they have a production we like, will definitely visit again.
Michael F — Google review
I was with my daughter at the performance of "Alice in Wonderland". What can I say... the theater is small, cozy atmosphere. But what was upsetting about being there was that it was very cramped in the hall. The small space between the rows and the legs were numb from the uncomfortable position. Unfortunately, this factor greatly interfered with enjoying the performance to the fullest.
Diana K — Google review
As a old theatre its a great place to experience. However bear in mind that the seats were designed many years ago and can become increasingly uncomfortable after about 30 mins [For me]. We booked the stalls as they offered more leg room than the circle.
YouCheekyMonkeyYou — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5 – Budget Snacks, Tiny Seats, and the Great Escape (From the Retirement Village) Took the kids to Lincoln Theatre for a family show, and honestly? It was just right. The show was fun, totally kid-friendly, and—most importantly—finished just before the little ones got bored and started trying to eat the program. Timing: nailed it. 🎭👏 Now, let’s talk about the theatre itself. If you’re into vintage charm (and by vintage, I mean one lightbulb away from a haunted house), you’ll love it. The place is old—like “has seen a lot of pantomimes and possibly the war” old. The seats? Think airplane legroom but made of wood and regret. My knees haven’t forgiven me. Food and drink, though? A pleasant surprise! Prices were so cheap I thought I’d time-travelled. A drink and snack without needing to remortgage the house? Iconic. And the staff? Let’s just say it was being run by what looked like a lovely escape party from the local retirement village. Everyone was sweet, slightly confused, and walking around with that “I once saw Judy Garland live” energy. All in all—great for kids, entertaining enough, and worth it for the snacks alone. Just maybe stretch before you sit down.

Located in the cultural quarter of Lincoln, the Arboretum is a 19th-century park spanning 22 acres. Designed by renowned Victorian gardener Edward Milner, it holds Grade II historical importance and has been recognized as one of Britain's Best Parks. The park features beautiful gardens, two ponds, fountains, bridges, and a Victorian bandstand. It also includes a small play area for children.
This is a nicely kept public park, open till 10 pm. There are some small areas of formal planting (rose garden is nice) but for the most part it is landscaping with a nice collection of trees, and some garden features (pond, maze, shelters). It is on a steep hill (this is Lincoln!) with some big flights of steps with no handrails, but there are step free routes around most of the park. Nice place for an evening wander or a sit down.
Andrew J — Google review
The arboretum is a lively green space in the City that’s very dog friendly. We had a lovely walk but at this time of year the trees are bare. I’ll definitely return in the spring when the maze is green. May be I’ll bring a picnic. There are some nice features like statues, a little water feature and bird filled lakes. I took a bus but you can easily walk from the Cathedral area. I can’t comment on the cafe as it’s not open at weekends in the winter.
Mal333 — Google review
A very cute and beautiful park just up from the town, you can find free on street parking on st annes road. Toilets and cafe werent open but the kids park was open and had a good few things for children of all ages. Its clearly well kept, plenty of benches and areas to sit down, the ponds and wildlife areas were well maintained too. Generally a lovley spot for an afternoon stroll, taking the kids out, a dog walk or a different place to get outdoors.
Grace P — Google review
Lovely park with lots of friendly people and dog walkers. Would avoid later in the evenings as there seems to be a lot of teenagers and young adults behaving inappropriately— drinking and drugs. Always one of my favourite parks in Lincoln though!
Daniel P — Google review
Pretty city centre park. Two fountains, pretty ponds, statues, lovely planting, seating, grassed areas and a coffee shop with toilets nearby. Free to enter. Also a bandstand and playback.
Bev M — Google review
It’s indeed a beautiful experience in the greens at Lincoln Arboretum. I enjoyed every moment and scenery, my babe really loved it there and we’ll visit over and over again.
Shakirudeen A — Google review
Nice small park to walk around or sit in the sun when we eventually get some. Small pond, big café, dilapidated hedge maze and a couple of stinky knackered fountains. To be fair the local council should be ashamed of the neglect and give it a bit of tlc. Everything seems to be half hearted with no real plan to make the most of this little asset.
Brian M — Google review
Maybe not a classic arboretum but there are definitely trees around ! Lovely quiet area, lots of wildlife when peace descends in the evening. Also plenty of places for kids to let of steam without unduly disturbing the tranquility of the area. Plenty of seats for a picnic, a quiet read or just a silent contemplation

Amazing venue, really large stage, drinks are reasonably priced, they look after too as it gets really hot in there.

Good music venue with house sound and lights set up. Beers are not what you find in pubs. For some reason they call plastic glasses cups ?. Nice clean toilets.

First time visiting this venue. Absolutely fab place to watch a band. Tucked away in a side street, the only down side was there was no parking, however there are public car parks near by. The venue is an old Drill Hall which sets a great surrounding for live music. Has a wall of fame showing some great bands & names who have previously played there. The sound & lighting were very good. Good facilities for bands, large green room with back stage toilets. Would definitely return 🎵
Clare — Google review
We had an absolutely fantastic time at The Drill! From start to finish, everything was incredibly well-organized and professional. The bands were excellent — top-quality live music with great sound and a brilliant atmosphere. Ticket sales were smooth and efficient, and the security on the door were friendly yet professional, making everyone feel welcome and safe. The venue itself was spotless. The bar was well-stocked, reasonably priced, and offering some great drink deals. The outdoor area was a great bonus, offering space to step outside and chat without missing out on the vibe. All in all, The Drill is a top-tier venue and a real asset to the local scene. We’re already looking forward to the next visit!

I enjoyed a night of local bands whilst on holiday in Lincoln and was treated to Archie and the Astronauts who were very good. I'd certainly visit this venue again and they have some good acts lined up for the Augumn...

My first time at The Drill last night, Londoner now living up here. Been following Alabama 3 for too many decades now. Last night was as good a venue as I’ve been in. Band on form, great sound system and acoustics, intimate like having them in your front room, loos clean as a whistle, bar was great, staff were brilliant, low key security, easy entry. Just perfect. 👌 Sleaford mods next. The Drill is perfect. Well done 👍🏻 Totally recommend this venue. Some great music scheduled.
Elmsy — Google review
It's a great little venue with an outdoor and indoor drinks/seating space - roomy and much needed on a warm summer night. The one negative was a lack of air-con in the main stage making it stifling and uncomfortable on the night we attended. The Lincoln Guildhall, a historic hall dating back to the 16th century, is a must-see attraction in Lincoln. This stunning building with limestone parapets and three magnificent archways hosts council meetings and offers regular public tours. Visitors have the opportunity to sit on the Mayor's own chair and explore the fascinating history of the building, including highlights such as the Royal sword gifted by Richard II and the impressive council chamber.
We visited on Wednesday morning for the 10.30 tour. This tour is free to do which is amazing! The tour lasts between an hour and an hour and a half. The tour guide was a very nice man who amazed us with his knowledge! No question went unanswered. I don't know what I expected from the tour but I got more from it than I could have imagined. We learnt so many facts and were told great stories. The building is preserved extremely well. And the treasury is full of amazing objects and historical documents. I wouldn't hesitate about doing the tour again! If you haven't been, you should go!

Absolutely brilliant free tour and talk on the Guild Hall, learning about it's history including it's importance as a wool town. You wait outside the closed door and are greeted at the tour start time. Once inside you go up an amazing 16th Century staircase (which slants considerably), into the main meeting room. The tour moves on to look at a silver sword from Richard II and Royal Charters dating from 12th Century. Our guide was outstanding, his knowledge and enthusiasm made this a very enjoyable visit.

Lincoln Guildhall is above the Stonebow. The grade one listed building dates back to 1520. The tudor style building was extended in the 1800s in a matching style. The council has met on this site since 1237. There are free informative guided tours twice a day. It is a stunning looking building.

I attended the 10:30am tour this morning. I'd like to say a big thank you to Colin for the fascinating tour, I learned a lot about the Guildhall and also the history of Lincoln. The tours are free, but I'd happily recommend this even if there was a charge.
Lynn B — Google review
Myself and my girlfriend had a tour of the guildhall today by Richard who done an excellent job telling us about Lincoln's rich history and how long the guildhall has been stood. Richard even took us downstairs where a whole range of swords are and was allowed to hold the same swords King Henry VII and King Richard II once used! Richard was a very passionate tour guide who you could tell enjoys his job and is passionate about Lincoln's history and keen to pass on his wisdom. Would 100% recommend coming to the Guildhall especially as its free! Thanks Richard for a memorable day!

This guided tour was excellent, with Coljn being an excellent, knowledgeable and, above all, entertaining host. No need to book, but best to call to check whether the free tour is on as scheduled.

We arrived at the Guildhall at 10.30am on Wednesday the 2nd of July. The information on Facebook said it should be open then. We checked several times up till 11.00am, and it still wasn't open. We tried ringing, but it was an answer phone. We gave up after five minutes. Seriously, if there is a problem which means the place can't open the least they could do is communicate this. Would have given less than one star if possible.

Whisby Nature Park, located just off the A46 in Lincoln, is a stunning green expanse that has been transformed from a former quarry into a beautiful landscape filled with lakes, woodland, and abundant wildlife. The park offers visitors the opportunity to explore nature trails, spot various bird species, and enjoy outdoor activities such as playing on the treehouse over the lake or in the sandpit.
A fabulous place to spend a few hours, bird watching from the paths and hides, or just enjoying a stroll. The paths are all wheelchair friendly too! There's a good range of hot and cold food, drinks and cakes in the large and airy visitor centre with a young, friendly team. All this for a £3 car park charge. Fantastic value, a great day out for everyone. I can't recommend it highly enough.

A beautiful and very peaceful place. Easy flat parking ( costs a few pounds ). Lovely visitors centre overlooking the lake with cafe and gift shop. Plenty of different walks to suit all walking styles and mainly flat on good paths. An abundance of wiildlife especially waterfowl. Great open space for kids or dog walkers to enjoy too. Easy to find off the Lincoln Relief Road too.

Whisby Nature Park is a truly special place. The moment you arrive, you’re welcomed by expansive wetlands, serene lakes, and well-maintained trails that make it easy to immerse yourself in nature. Whether you’re a casual walker, a keen birdwatcher, or just looking for a peaceful escape, there’s something here for everyone. We took our toddler, and it’s incredibly child-friendly. There’s a brilliant water-themed area, a sandpit, and an indoor activity and play area — perfect for little ones to explore. The walk itself is lovely too, with plenty to see along the way, and our toddler really enjoyed it. The visitor centre and café are excellent – friendly staff, great coffee, and lots of information about the park’s wildlife and conservation efforts. It’s obvious that Whisby is lovingly cared for and managed with both visitors and nature in mind. If you’re in the area, Whisby Nature Park is a must-visit. It’s a place where you can slow down, breathe deeply, and enjoy the outdoors as a family.

Very much a family place. Something for everyone. The parking us reasonable for a visit, spending time walking and visiting the café. Love the walks - Spring the birds come in and you can see sea birds nesting. We especially like Autumn as that's when the fungus are out, so many different varieties to see.

Beautiful places you could walk and walk and do many more lakes in the same vicinity to see cafe ,play park and some parts dogs have to be on leads some areas dogs of leads if you like being outdoors then this is a must place to visit
Tara E — Google review
A really cute, lake based Park with a few lovely walks, areas for dogs to go swimming, benches to take in the beautiful scenery along with the nature Centre being on site. We visited this place for a casual afternoon out, and was happy to see the parking was cheap, free parking after 4 pm, nicely laid out and well kept footpaths, with information on boards as well as little guideline arrows along the walks, not many dog poo bins or bins in general on the routes but found this was the only downside. They have a lovely climbing frame and play area for the children And plenty of room to escape the fast pace life and relax within the nature. I believe there was also a café by the nature Centre, but we did not divulge.
Grace P — Google review
Just did a few walks and into the cafe, very good indeed. A tip for turning right on A46.. Go left, and go around the roundabout ... Much safer, worth the extra time just incase.
Peter O — Google review
This spot is truly a gem for a relaxing stroll or a fun outing with your furry friend. The little ones always have a blast exploring the nature center, discovering all sorts of cool things. Plenty of parking and not too expensive, so no worries there. It's a great place to unwind and soak up some fresh air. The trails are well-maintained and offer a nice change of scenery. You might even spot some interesting wildlife along the way. It's definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a peaceful escape.

The Lincolnshire Road Transport Museum is a charming small museum showcasing over sixty beautifully restored buses, cars, vans, lorries, fire appliances and motorcycles. Visitors can immerse themselves in nostalgia as they explore old road signs, uniforms and ticket machines. The museum offers a stunning collection of road transport vehicles spanning 85 years. Additionally, the facility provides accessible paths for wheelchair users and families with buggies to navigate through the woodland.
Can not recommend this place enough!! Ask for Paul to do your tour if available. We home-educate our daughter and were only in the area for 4 days, so emailed about visiting on Thursday, at 10 pm Wednesday. We then had a reply to confirm a visit was available at 9 am Thursday morning! Once we arrived we had a guided tour from Paul, who was patient with the kids (my 2-year-old son also came) gave information relevant to their age & interests and was so kind. Well worth a visit, the kids could also go into a few of the buses, rang the fire engine bell, and were in awe of the size colours and scale of everything! Also it's free to enter, they just ask for a donation!
Emma W — Google review
A volunteer run museum showcasing a substantial collection of road transport mainly from the local area with a particular emphasis on buses, however, also a collection of cars, vans, and cycles. Access allowed to the exhibition area and the workshops all for a small entrance fee of £5. Free on site parking.
Stuart F — Google review
Absolutely fascinating. Very busy, lots of families, great to see children so excited and interested in these old vehicles. The museum is larger than I had envisaged, with much more than vehicles here. Road signs, photographs, badges, vehicles waiting to be renovated, an AA box, rooms kitted out as old workshops .... and on it goes. Bus rides all day, always full - there must have been 4 or 5 out constantly. We went on the open topped bus, a good 20 - 30 minutes ride. Fabulous. Lots of enthusiastic volunteers, lot's of people reminiscing. The cafe didn't really keep up, too many visitors I think. Long queues at times, and most definitely not enough toilets .. but that was acceptable given the huge numbers there. I really hope people donated generously, this was a free event, even the bus rides were free (I personally think there should have been a small charge, at least to cover the fuel used on each run), given the amount to see and do I would wholly recommend a visit to this amazing museum. There are various 'events' on during the year - see their website and don't miss out !!!!

Took my elderly father to bank holiday event. Plenty of old busses and a few cars and motorbikes. Member of staff was welcoming and informative. Old photos and memorabilia around the museum to look at and evoke memories for dad who has mixed dementia. Had a cup of tea at cafe before leaving. Had a nice couple of hours visit.

The museum is run as a registered charity, by a dedicated & enthusiastic team of volunteers. Excellent museum, with a great range of vintage buses, cars & other vehicles. You can also see some of the vehicles attending local vintage & classic events, as well as when the museum run various special events throughout the year.

The Lincoln Museum is a purpose-built museum located in the heart of the city's Cultural Quarter. It features a substantial archaeological exhibition that takes visitors on a journey through different periods of Lincoln's history, from the Stone Age to the Medieval era. The museum offers hands-on activities, artifact displays, and interactive games for older children to learn about Lincolnshire's past. Additionally, it hosts art exhibitions and showcases works by renowned artists like Turner and Lowry at the Usher Gallery.
Our second visit and just as enjoyable as our first. We loved looking around the various collections and talking about things we had seen before or learned about in school. The Jason and his Argonauts collection was great fun too. The museum is free to visit but donations are welcome. There is a children play area, cafe, gift shop, toilets, lockers and lockable buggy park.

I visited the Lincoln Museum on Danes Terrace hoping to explore the exhibits, but was disappointed to find it closed until next year- especially frustrating as this hadn’t been updated on Google at the time (though I’m glad to see that’s now been corrected). Thankfully, the on-site café turned the day around. The seating area was spotless and really well-kept, with comfy chairs, a modern feel, and big windows that let in loads of natural light. The atmosphere was calm and inviting, with gentle music playing in the background – perfect for relaxing after the initial letdown. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the food was actually a lovely surprise – I had a hot panini that was fresh, cheesy, and delicious. Sometimes a good sandwich and a peaceful place to sit are all you need to salvage the day. While I hope to come back and experience the museum itself next time, I’d still recommend stopping in for a bite at the café. It’s a quiet little spot that really hit the mark.

What an absolutely brilliant museum. We visited for an hour on our way home as a stop off point. So glad we did. It's so clean, fresh and light. The museum kept my little one engaged with different activities which were well thought out. The staff were super helpful and friendly. It's a shame we had a drink elsewhere as the cafe looked great. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Grayson Perry exhibition of tapestries at the moment. Free to view. The museum itself has such a laid-back vibe. They have very comprehensive curated main hall that takes you through the ages. A lovely cafe, play space for the kids and various other spaces for smaller exhibitions or events. The gift shop area is cute and always has amazing cards. Personally, it's just the relaxed nature of the space that makes it a place I love to visit or pop into.

22/5/22 Collection: very interesting building with temporary exhibits and a very fascinating archaeology display with interesting curios and displays about how they research this. Kid friendly activities also present with a playroom. Cafe is present too but the lunch options are confined to the soup of the day (apparently kitchen closed due to covid). Usher Gallery: interesting display of art, antiques, clocks & ceramics. Interesting things on display include a long case clock with its face removed to show a wooden mechanism & a mouldy picnic on display to illustrate increasing food demand!

The Lincoln Medieval Bishops' Palace, located in Lincolnshire, England, stands as a ruined yet imposing structure that once served as the administrative center of the largest diocese in medieval England. Despite suffering damage during the Civil War, its former grandeur is still evident through features like the East Hall and vaulted undercroft. The palace offers sweeping views over the ancient city and countryside and includes 1430s additions by Bishop William Alnwick.
I turned up here on a day in Lincoln expecting it to be a nice half an hour, 45 minutes or so. No - I spent a good 2 to 2 and a half hours looking around the ruins. The little museum inside was interesting with the video tour voiced by a monk who sounded far too drunk - very amusing. The ruins aren't extensive but very interesting. The tracery of a buffet in one part is superb, as is that of an adjacent window. The barrel vaults of part of it are very long and although quite ruined, very beautiful. The restoration and cutaway-like roof of the kitchens is very interesting - parts look almost like they're new because of the restoration work. The new gardens are interesting and have a good idea and even better views - I liked the vineyard even if it was small and the wrong time of year. The garden could do with some trees however to complete the vision. One final thing to look out for is the tower by the entrance. The vault at the bottom is very impressive and modern-looking despite its age. The best part is that there is a small, almost hidden door from where you climb up to two rooms above and get nice views of adjacent rooftops through the windows.

Lovely way to spend an hour or so next to the Cathedral. It's very atmospheric and has been tastefully restored without ruining the history. Great views over the city at the back. There are loos, a shop and coffee machine and a small exhibition with a video and information. The staff were amazing and one sat and went through all the badges (which members can collect) to make sure my son had a unique one. It made him so happy 😊

Thank you English Heritage - worth 10 stars, brilliant 'hard hat' tour of this amazing building. The information we received on this tour with the 3 (EH, Architect, builder/stone mason) was exceptional. I would highly highly recommend booking this. We learnt more about archeology and renovating ruins than ever we could wandering round on our own. This is a working site, having started 18 mths ago with 6 months left. Remarkable work, painstakingly taken care. I think its the opportunity to be with 3 hugely professional guides that make this tour quite unique. If you're an English Heritage member then don't miss this opportunity. Fascinating.
Polly W — Google review
Can't wait for the restoration work to be done and the whole site to be open again, did the free open part for something to do a few good views and a real teaser to what you can see when its going to be completed . Views from the tower are pretty good.

An interesting site is sitting next to the cathedral. It is only small but must have been impressive in its day. Guide book avadible and information boards dotted around. There are a lot of steps, including the entrance, into the palace grounds. Toilets and gift shops with cold drinks are avadible. There is a new way to get to the entrance, which I signed posted. There is no car park on the site, and I think parking around the cathedral is limited to an hour.

Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks along the River Witham, discovering the woodlands and observing the vast array of wildlife found within them. The park boasts an impressive lake, children's play area, bowling green, zipwire, fountain garden and band stand for community events.
This is a lovely park with a large lake and lots of birds, a zip wire, a playground, a bandstand, a cafe and the Linkway College. I live the dense wooded areas that change throughout the seasons. The giant topiary is very attractive and my favourite time to visit is when the autumnal leaves are brown and falling. You’ll see a lot of excitable dogs and their dog owners. There are also public loos mead the cafe and Boultham Road entrance. The park is served by the number 6 and 9 buses and there’s a small car park.

Very much like this park. Usually go to Hartsholme Park which is 5 minutes from us but is now just mud everywhere and becoming scruffier and scruffier😡. Assume due to lack of staff and money. Boultham did have some muddy area this morning but you have lovely tarmac paths to walk on so can stay relatively clean. There are two play areas for kids, a cafe and plenty of large grass areas to throw the ball for your dogs. Relatively safe for dogs apart from some openings leading out onto a very busy road😲. From a distance the openings appear to have gates attached which presumably could be closed? I know my friend will not take her dog to this park as she is so frightened he will end up on the road. The lake is beautiful with loads of different birds on. Overall, the park is kept pristine and would be a great place to visit at all times of the year, especially in the Summer. Large car park at entrance with no charge!

Lovely park and great facilities. Duck pond, park, wooden area with squirrels and birds. Lots of green space for running around and trees for a shaded picnic. The cafe is quite expensive but it is nice food.

Great open space with plenty of tarmac footpaths. Walk around the lake to spot the artwork and read the information boards. Stand on the deck to watch the swans and ducks. Zip line and basket ball hoop for older kids. Walk around to the band stand with open field for playing ball or running about. Enclosed play area for children. Walk around the house foundations and stop for a brew at the cafe and visit the loo if needed. You can then wander around the woods to spot squirrels and loop back around to the lake.

The Fun Farm Family Entertainment Centre in Lincoln is a great place to go with children. There is a soft play area, climbing walls and a roller skating rink, as well as a cafe serving hot food. The staff are friendly and the play area is reasonably large for children to play in.
This was our first visit to Fun Farm Lincoln and the kids (and adults) thoroughly enjoyed it. We visited on a Wednesday evening and practically had the place to ourselves, bar a couple of other families. Everyone had a blast running up and down, round and around, up the stairs, down the slides. Then the pizza came, made in house, and it's delicious!! We also had a jug of juice and water, all good and enjoyable. The staff were all fab, very helpful and attentive to their tasks. A very well done to all. 10/10 I would recommend. Thank you Fun Farm Lincoln and God bless!

Very pleased with our visit. Booked a children's party for 12. Greeted on arrival, very well taken care of, staff couldn't be more happy to help! Food was brilliant, hot drinks were sublime and plenty of choices. Would definitely rank this place as a cut above the rest!

We did a private hire party with laser tag for our daughter. It was amazing, staff are so accommodating and friendly, the place is clean and tidy. The children enjoyed the food and playing but they especially enjoyed the laser tag, even the dads were able to go in and have a game. Its been the talk of the week amongst the children who attended and they want a party here too. Excellent venue for a party for both children and adults. Well done staff !!!
D M — Google review
We booked a party for 11 children who are moving from our little nursery onto school. The booking of the party was simple to do, including passing on information about a child with allergies and this came with a follow up call confirming everything. On arrival we were greeted in a warm friendly manner and the plan for the morning was clearly explained. We had a morning of excitement and fun on the play equipment which is greatly improved from several years ago and the gate system to the areas for the younger children is fantastic and keeps them safe from older children entering and knocking the little ones over / taking over the play equipment. We had a name card on a table with drinks and a shoe box - a lovely touch. The party room was all set up ready with more juice / water and plenty of food for the children. The food for the child with allergies was appropriately marked. We all had an awesome time. Thank you.

We had a birthday party here and the staff were amazing – nothing was too much trouble, and they were more than happy to help. The food was great, and they accommodated an allergy request with no fuss. I’d definitely recommend this place for a hassle-free party that kids will really enjoy!

We've been to Fun Farm several times in the last few months since we discovered it and we've loved it every time. The baby and toddler areas are fantastic as a safe, contained area where you can see your kids at all times while the big play area feels enormous with lots for the bigger ones to explore. I often get annoyed at places like this because there's a culture of parents ditching their kids while they have a coffee and cake (oblivious to the fact that their kids are lost, lonely or causing chaos on the inside) but there's a different vibe here which means you see more parents getting involved, which is great to see. As well as the actual soft play areas there's a mini quad bikes, bowling, laser quest and carousel etc and everything is good value. Yes, it's not the fanciest building in the world, but the setup here is 10/10 and the team are lovely. You also get a free return visit within a week, and it's spotlessly clean!
David S — Google review
The staff were invaluable and always available for food and drinks. The children loved the laser quest and found the soft playground enjoyable and challenging. Parking was excellent, with plenty of space for cars around the location.
Adrian D — Google review
I did some research on their website before coming here to see what they could offer, and I wasn't disappointed. Food is delicious, and they literally cater for everything, it is also reasonably priced. The soft play area is huge, and includes slides (one which lights up) and lots of climbing areas. There is a big toddler area sectioned off for under 4s which looks amazing. There are little games to play that are extra like bowling, quad bikes and a basketball game. The staff are friendly and helpful. Definitely will be returning.

Friendly staff and a very reasonably priced menu too - i thought. A wonderful choice of cakes - I took ages deciding. The Parsnip and Thyme soup with some artisan bread (warm) was delicious. My dad had the Quiche of the Day with new potatoes and salad and he said it was lovely. I'll definitely be back again for a drink and a cake again soon.

Nice place. Good price for parking at £3 for the day. Cafe not dog friendly in the actual cafe but they have priority seating for people with dogs in the visitor centre attached (not sure how it works if you are alone with a dog) Usual prices for the things we had (always a bit steep) but very tasty. They were able to do an oat milk hot chocolate (and dairy free cream) which was great. Lots of homemade craft items for sale in the visitor centre. So many fungi/mushrooms to be seen on the walks around if that's your thing, as well as bird/wildlife spotting. Yellow trail allows dogs off lead. All other trails dogs on lead. All trails we did (all but the yellow) were well marked and hard standing of some description so shouldn't be too bad in winter for slipping in mud either :)

Really enjoyed the lovely walk around the lakes. Nice little cafe with beautiful views, lots of seating and delicious food. The staff in the cafe section could've been friendlier, not a hint of a smile in sight but that aside I enjoyed lunch there. Fantastic indoor kids play area which is free but need to book in there at the desk. Lovely little gift shop too. Massive car park available but it Is pay and display so don't forget to get your ticket. Lovy day out for a walk with dogs or kids or even just by yourself. Would go again.

We (adult couple, inc wheelchair user with dog) visited for the first time today. We enjoyed our lunch in the inside dog friendly area. I had a delicious jacket potato, Lemmy enjoyed a pup cup and my partner enjoyed his BLT. Staff were friendly and helpful. Then we headed around the Grebe Trail, which took us 45 mins.

Beautiful walks, a short distance from Lincoln centre by car, with a choice of walks to meet different abilities, but all with excellent views of the waters and a chance to see birds you won't normally see
Paul T — Google review
Our first visit to the National World Centre and my partner and I both thought it was wonderful. From the staff on the front desk, to the cafe, to the walks, watching the birds and even the disabled toilet (which was roomy, spotlessly clean, and the toilet roll in an accessible position, unlike many disabled toilets) we thoroughly enjoyed it, and will be back very soon, thank you. Oh and the free parking because we are disabled was also very welcome. If I were to make a couple of suggestions, they would be for cafe staff to offer to help with food trays when you are walking with a stick, or have an obvious disability, and maybe a couple more seats on the yellow route for those of us who are not fully able bodied, but we still thought the NWC was lovely and would thoroughly recommend you.

If you love nature and walking, this place is an absolute must. Lovely peaceful walks and loads of birds and animals to see. Bring your camera and your time.
Marvin C — Google review
Lovely place to visit especially if you have children or a dog. Lots of different walks to take, the one we did was pram and wheelchair friendly. Lots to see and explore. Swimming opportunities for the dogs. Visitor's centre had very clean and well equipped toilets and a lovely cafe. All are dog and wheels friendly. Cafe serving reasonably priced food, which was excellent, as was the service. Some lovely outdoor seating with gorgeous views. Large car park, reasonably priced, with disabled spaces. Highly recommend a visit here.

Children's Links Toy Library and Soft Play is a great place to go with your kids. There is an area for the babies, various activities and toys for toddlers and older children, as well as the opportunity to borrow toys for a small fee. This place is well worth a visit and is ideal if you're looking for a safe place to play with your child without having to spend too much money.
Absolutely love going here. My daughter really enjoys the range of items she can play with, and the sensory room. If you can become a member I would definitely recommend it, the range of toys you cam loan on brilliant

Very friendly and inclusive. Loads of toys to choose from for hire. A bit dated but charming. Staff very nice

This is a great place to play. It is suitable for both small babies and toddlers plus. There is an area for the babies, and various areas and activities for the older ones. There is also the opportunity to borrow toys for a small fee, so you can try toys out instead of buying them then finding that your child doesn't like them. This is a hidden gem and well worth a visit.
Sandie S — Google review
This is a really nice little children's play area. It's not very big but has a lot of different toys and activities. Also you can hire toys to use for a week like you would do in a library with books
Annalisa G — Google review
Great place to go with kids. You are able to take your own food and use the kitchen facilities to make a hot drink or juice for the children. It costs a few pounds to borrow items for a month!

What a great resource for kids. So many toys to play with on site or to borrow for a fee.

What a place! I am a gambler I go to so many places never seen a place like this over last couple of I went there before I started gamble I asked for a caffe the staff told me I have to put money in the machine first otherwise not any drinking give me and also ask me say please to staff but the staff never say please enjoy your drinks if customers lose 500pounds than ask for a drink still need to please for a coffee otherwise I ban you you not allowed come here to play . Yesterday I was going to see manager when I arrived the manager was not there I asked when manager coming back the other staff say about 1hour this staff is ok very polite providing me drinking without me say please but I said thank and please to him than I was playing game at about 12 clock that rude staff came back shouting to you out I give you 2 minutes you out here you not allowed playing here l ban you What a staff! I am Chinese every casino welcome chinese gambling in casino apart from this one if I can give 0 star l would give for this palace
Lije Z — Google review
Asked if we wanted a drink immediately upon entry. They don't even act like that in places that primarily sell drinks so it's clearly a ploy just to get you to stay a while & feed the machines. The machines are all the "modern" type that you can play on in any pub so it's a bit pointless really. Wasn't a single person in the place when we went. I doubt the machines get much play so won't pay anything out. No 10p machines or old style fruit machines which is what we prefer.
Karl A — Google review
The staff got no manners at all. And I use to come to this place most of the time but now. Don't go do to the young staff there attitude problem advise. Bypass. This place and go to stone now. The staff more better and very nice people.
Alec W — Google review
Will not visit here anymore. Staff offer you a drink literally before you've ever sat down and even put money into the slots to try entice you to put money in the slots and keep you in there establishment. Quick tip, say hi, and wait at least a few minutes, 5 minutes max before offering people refreshments. It sounds robotic, and desperate. It is never busy in there ever. Staff sit there watching you put money in the machines, and watching you play the games and give you no privacy in the slightest. Literally feel staff breathing down your neck. On two occasions I have been in, inparticular a visit in the last couple of days, you hear staff at the counter speaking about machine margins, profit and gross win. Do you really need to listen to that when you are sat playing their games? Surely there's a time and place for these chats. I'm sat there feeding money into your machine, and all I hear is about a couple of thousand pound you've paid out over the last few days. I really am not surprised you aren't busy in there. Main reason being you don't give customers chance to enter and even settle down before asking if they need or want a drink. I'm sorry but if we wanted a drink, there is literally pound land opposite we can visit if we were that desperate. Not going in again. Absolute terrible service. Do not recommend.

Kids Hub Nettleham is a delightful haven for younger children, providing a safe environment free from the chaos of older kids. This charming venue features both soft play and role play areas, making it an ideal spot for little ones to explore and have fun. The entrance fee is quite reasonable, although hot drinks can be on the pricier side and sometimes served lukewarm—though there's no pressure to order them!
Celebrated my daughter's 2nd birthday party and it was great. Becky and Ruby at the counter very nice and helpful. Kids loved. Recommended.
Giovanna B — Google review
A great little place to entertain little ones, without the worry of older, more boisterous children knocking into them. Good to have a choice of soft play and role play areas. Reasonably priced entrance fee (hot drinks on the pricey side and some served luke-warm but nobody is forcing you to order any). Great that they have introduced a loyalty card but be warned... if attending with friends, pay separately. I paid online for my two children as well as my friend's child for convenience and she paid me back when she met me there but she wasn't allowed a loyalty card as it was classed as one session (even though the cost was exactly the same as if we had paid separately). Seemed a bit ridiculous.

I used to love bringing my baby to this place, it’s perfect for the little ones who can get crushed in chaos of older children. The drinks and cakes are great too. Because I love it I’ve been recommending it and planning to meet people here. However THREE times in two weeks we have turned up and they have closed due to “staffing issues.” Nothing about this on their Facebook page and you could even still book slots online when we tried to come on Friday. So not sure why staffing is such an issue - is it they don’t want to invest in more staff or is it they can’t keep staff? Either way it’s concerning especially for a relatively new business. Every time this has happened we’ve gone to a competitors nearby so I really hope they sort it out before the reputation is ruined. It’s so stressful bringing your babies out that to get there and it’s unexpectedly closed is not good customer service. One time, understandable, but the frequency is getting a bit ridiculous now.

Great space for under 2s, a little cold mid-April so I suspect it'll be freezing in the winter mind! Coffee by Seven Districts is excellent as are the food options - the whole space is on one level and small enough that you can keep a close eye on your little ones from your table with a coffee. Wouldn't recommend for children over 4 but my nearly threenager had a nice time.
