Chiltern Open Air Museum offers a unique experience of stepping back in time with its collection of over 30 reconstructed historic buildings from different periods of British history. Visitors can explore an Iron Age roundhouse, a Victorian toll house, a blacksmith's shop, and even a Second World War Nissen hut. The museum also features a working traditional farm and hosts various events throughout the year. While some buildings may be closed for maintenance during visits, the overall experience is impressive and brings history to life.
A lovely day out for families! The museum offers a mix of fun and history—complete with friendly animals, a great playground, and even live gladiator fights that kids (and adults!) will love. The staff and volunteers were amazing—super friendly, helpful, and clearly passionate about what they do. Highly recommend for a relaxed and engaging family experience. Rating: 5/5

This is a fascinating place to visit with old buildings from the local area rescued and rebuilt here. The round house is a reconstruction rather than a rebuild! Most houses are set in the era it came from. Really shows how material we are today with most of us having far too many things. Well worth going on a themed weekend - we went on a Middle Ages themed weekend. Great fun with music, dancing and jousting. We took a wheelchair with us but borrowed one of theirs. The paths can be challenging even with their wheelchair and some places are really inaccessible. Great children’s play area and toilets are dotted around the site. Do not think you are lost when driving to the museum. Access is on a very small, winding, country road which is at times single track. Well worth the effort though.
Steve G — Google review
This museum is doing a valuable job of preserving a wide variety of industrial and residential buildings from the local area. There's something for everyone from the Iron Age and 19th century agricultural buildings through the Second World War to a (relatively) modern prefab. Even the toilets date from the early 20th century (but with modern touches). The displays in the buildings are carefully curated and the volunteers are happy to share their knowledge and answer your questions.
Richard L — Google review
We spent 5 hours here and could have spent more. Fascinating view of the history of Bucks brought to a single location. Ideally suited to a drier day, you walk between the houses. Inside you see (and smell) a snapshot of history.
Ian R — Google review
Father's Day outing courtesy of daughter/granddaughters. I hadn't been for years and was worried about my mobility problems, but I needn't have been. It was a real pleasure to pootle about at a leisurely place through the sylvan walks and trails, to explore the various historic buildings and exhibits, to watch demonstrations and to take part in activities, (including playing quoits and skittles in the old church hall and having a go at candle-making with the tutelage of a charming octegenarian volunteer) and to bore the children witless with nostalgic tales of yore. A band of retirees happened to be raising money for charity on the day, playing Willie Nelson style country and western music on 'the green', which was both an incongruous accompaniment to our al fresco lunch and yet somehow charmingly quirky in this otherwise quintessentially English setting.
Ivan L — Google review
Each individual part of this property is not earth soaking, but as a whole it is a great day out, and not just for families - although a reasonable wooden playground, goats and plenty of room to run around does help that! The vibe is just after WW2. There is a cafe and a food trucks, several good toilet areas. A small pavilion opens as a plant and crafts shop when staff are available. When we were there the candle maker was present at the far end of the sure near the woodworking building. Most summer weekends host a historical event - Vikings, Napoleon's, world war cosplayers etc
Mike S — Google review
We visited this place because of the exhibition the longest yarn. We read about it and really wanted to see it. The exibit is great. I was impressed by all the knitting that was done. Unfortunately the rest of the museum isn't that interesting. Just a few old buildings, with hardly any information about it. The grounds and the buildings aren't very accessible. The footpaths are gravel and it makes it hard to move around with a wheelchair. Going uphill is a heavy task with a wheelchair. A lady in a golfcart past by and asked if we were doing all right. Well, no.... it was almost impossible to get uphill with the wheelchair. She told us that we should have been given a different wheelchair when we entered the museum. She kindly offered to help, but we were almost at the exit, so we declined. Some buildings have ramps but our wheelchair was to wide to get through the door. Conclusion. We really liked the exhibition of the longest yarn, but if you're in a wheelchair, don't expect to be able to see everything.

What a wonderful experience !! We had a family day out here with a Victorian event weekend . Was so worth a visit and very educational. Lots to see and great to be able to really immerse ourselves into the old days as staff were all dressed in costume and buildings exactly in the era . Everyone we spoke to wwere very knowledgeable and only too happy to tell us of the years gone by . There is a small cafe here for refreshments as well which is an added bonus . Thank you so much Chiltern open air museum 😊

Historic Sites
Bletchley Park, located near Milton Keynes, is a significant historical site that served as the home of the Enigma codebreakers during World War Two. Led by Alan Turing, the team at Bletchley Park played a crucial role in developing techniques to decipher encrypted German messages, ultimately shortening the war by up to 2 years. This Victorian mansion turned museum offers an immersive experience into cryptography, technological innovation, and secret intelligence from that era.
This is an absolutely amazing site, full of history and stories. The site is lovely to walk around and be able to pop in and oit of the building, there are a range of activities to be done in and around the site. Despite the buildings being steeped in history, the team on site have made a large majority of the buildings wheelchair accessible, which is absolutely amazing and something I was worried about not being able to do. The cafe staff are friendly and the food of amazing quality. It's been amazing visit and I am looking forward to visiting again soon. *We were also joined by a special feline guest halfway through our day

We visited Bletchley Park today and had an absolutely fantastic day exploring this incredible piece of history. From the moment we arrived, the experience was first class. We were greeted at the entrance barrier by Jake, who gave us a lovely warm welcome — full of good humour and friendly banter — the perfect start to the day. Inside, every member of staff and volunteer we met was just as friendly and engaging. Their enthusiasm for the site and its history really brought the stories of The Codebreakers to life. A particular highlight for me was the Radio Team, who were exceptional. They not only explained the radio technologies and the process behind them in fascinating detail but even offered me a chance to have a go myself! Their knowledge and passion were infectious and added so much to the visit. We took our time exploring the Mansion, the huts, and the surrounding grounds — everything was beautifully presented and full of atmosphere. The attention to historical authenticity and the care taken in preserving the story of Bletchley’s wartime legacy was evident everywhere. The Gift Shop was excellent too, well-stocked with books, souvenirs, and thoughtful keepsakes. I was thrilled to find a book I’d owned as a child (a long time ago now!) — something I never expected to see again. All in all, it was a day filled with learning, nostalgia, and wonderful interactions with passionate people. A truly memorable visit, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Five stars without hesitation.

Excellent museum to visit, very good & humorous tour guide - Robert - entertained and informed us for an hour in the heat of the afternoon - really brought the place to life. I paid the night before & the ticket allows unlimited further visits for 12 months. Loved the sound effects in the outside areas. Great ice cream 🍦 kiosk. A smartly presented and well thought out museum, recommended.
Nick W — Google review
An amazing place and well worth a visit. The guides are all volunteers who give their time and expertise completely free of charge. In my opinion this makes them even more valuable to the whole experience and definitely worth listening to if you can get on one of their guided tours. Your entry ticket will allow you to return as many times as you like with a year of your first visit, completely free of charge, and you’ll need it as there so much to see and learn.
Alan M — Google review
This is an amazing Living Musuem of history. The splendid work both highly intellectual people accomplished, together with every day men and women during WW2 is shown here. Without this secret team WW2 may not have ended when it did and with the British victorious. There is so much so see we needed 3 day visits. When you purchase your ticket you get a year to return and Thank Goodness for that.
Rosalyn J — Google review
After having heard so much about this place we finally made the long journey to visit. There was a barrier at the entrance, reminding one of the fact that this was once a secret military establishment. There is much to see over several buildings. We joined a guided walk which was useful with much information about this history of the site. The main museum is where the story of the code breakers is told and there is much to see and read related to this significant work done during the Second World War. It is significant to see how most of the work was done by women.
T H — Google review
Interesting visit to learn more about the WW2 Codebreakers and see the technology they used. Informative and entertaining video presentations. Friendly staff and good interactive displays. Quite expensive at £28 pp (we won't be going back in the next year even though the ticket says you can) and disappointed that the museum of computing was another £10 each next door. The website says the cafes have gluten free options but they didn't have any gf cakes or sandwiches, only a main meal.
Graddy 6 — Google review
An amazing time in our countrys' history, remarkable work carried out by extraordinary people. We learnt a great deal more about the events that occurred there than we previously knew. Definitely worth visiting, as your entry tickets are valid for 12 months multiple visits.

The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre in Buckinghamshire is a delightful spot for families, offering an array of exhibits featuring over 200 photos, manuscripts, and letters from the beloved author. Geared towards children aged 6 to 12, the museum provides hands-on activities and interactive experiences that bring Dahl's characters to life.
Great trip down memory lane. Loads of interactive craft, dressing up and games for the children. All very well kept and modern. Lots of facts and experiences about all the Roald Dahl books and the man himself. Indoor place for picnic. Story telling for the kids worth doing to. Nice gift shop.
Paul H — Google review
We had a great time at the Roald Dahl Museum. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The museum isn't huge but had lots of fun things to keep the kids entertained. We listened to a story and did the Easter egg hunt which was a lovely addition! The exhibits were interesting and child friendly, though it would be nice to have a few more activities that younger visitors would understand and could introduce them to the world of story writing. The craft room was fab, though it was such a shame that other visitors were so inconsiderate and did not tidy up after themselves. This is no reflection on the staff or museum though! The cafe didn't have many savoury options which was a shame, but it was good that we could go out to the town for lunch and then return to the museum.
Amber S — Google review
We had an enjoyable visit here, being fans of Roald Dahl. There is a bit on the history of his life and work and plenty of interactive parts and craft areas. It's a relatively small museum and if you are looking for food and drink, I'd suggest taking your own to eat in the picnic areas or finding one of the local cafés.
Tim J — Google review
A small, well-organised museum, particularly suited to families with young children. The interactive exhibits are engaging and designed to capture the imagination.
Pervin M — Google review
Honestly couldn't recommend this place enough. As much as my 6 year old loved it too, she didn't love it for the reasons I did, I was interested in roald dahl, she was interested in the arts and crafts haha so next time, I'll go without her - and that's not in a mean way, it's just that I feel I couldn't really do the part I wanted to do without feeling mum guilt... maybe I'll wait till she's older and take her back... thing is, she knows his work, I've read his books to her alot ... sadly, they've been bed time stories so once she falls asleep, I continue reading hahaha! But, we left the museum with three new roald dahl books so I know what I'll be reading to her for a while 😄 I loved learning about him in more detail, I had read his autobiographies, but it's lovely seeing it all in person, his writing Hut etc. The staff, wow! They are amazing, definitely have a passion for their job and it really shows! Shout out to Helen for reading/narrating matilda so very well and getting all the kids involved, I am like her, I have several voices when I read and really go all out so it's nice to know I'm not alone there haha The kids all loved your narration and everyone, adults and children got involved with acting out the parts you encouraged us all to play. I also need to say, the souvenir shop, wow - the prices are extremely fair! I didn't expect to be leaving with what I did for the price! I'm very impressed and I can't wait to return! - even just to buy more books 😆 they put a stamp inside the book so you can show off to friends and family that you've been to the museum, or just for a keepsake for yourself! They haven't done what most places do when they know they have a very niche thing going on and bump prices up, even the cafe was reasonable! I do hope it stays that way! Thank you ever so much for keeping Roalds spirit alive! I hope you continue to do what you do for a very very long time!
Linds — Google review
Excellent place to take young children. We visited with 2 of our young grandchildren and they didn't want to leave. Plenty of informative hands on exhibits for the children to use. There is also a craft area with lots of different activities which is well stocked with resources. All members of staff were helpful and pleasant.
Trevor M — Google review
As avid readers of Roald Dahl's books, the kids enjoyed themselves and enjoyed the crafts. The staff were very helpful and it wasn't overly crowded, although it was a rainy October day when we visited. There were some really nice little bits of merchandise available in the gift shop. The food and drinks on offer were a little disappointing though, especially for the prices they charge. The pasty we ordered had clearly been reheated in a microwave because they were volcanic on the outside but cold in the middle. The indoor seating was the only place where it was overcrowded. As I said, it was a rainy day so nobody was sitting outside, which meant people were standing around waiting for families to finish eating before they could sit down. Just needs to be a little bigger, or maybe a canopy over seating outside would help. I do feel they could offer so much more at this museum to capture the imaginations of kids. Maybe some more modernised interactive exhibits, and maybe a Wonka-inspired range of confectionery.
M W — Google review
Small but lovely. Fascinating information about Roald Dahl and lots of interactive parts and activities for children. Wasn't too busy, even in the half term holidays. Story session was great. Walked up to the church afterwards which was further than it looked but worth it.

The estate, including its impressive art collections and 165 acres of garden and park, was left to the trust by James de Rothschild in the late 1950s. Today, it is overseen by Baron Jacob Rothschild through a charitable trust.
Fabulous place! I was amazed on the size, architecture and furnishings as well as the collections inside. The surrounding are is also beautiful and it’s gardens were nice too. It’s easily accessible and also offer bus ride to the house from the car park. Staff were very friendly and everything was clean and top notch. I would highly recommend a visit as there’s a lot to see. Might recommend spending a few hours to truly appreciate all of that is to see.

Really enjoyable visit to this stately home although it was built as a museum to house the possessions of the Rothschild family. Fantastic collection of art works, ceramics, tapestries and furniture and grounds. Entry needs to be pre-booked via their website there is a long walk 20 to 30 minutes from the car park to the house or you can book a shuttle bus for £2.50 return, free if you’re a blue badge holder.
Steve G — Google review
Easy to find with large ticket office and excellent parking capacity inc disabled with a shuttle bus to the house and stables. Property has an interesting history and easy to walk through the various rooms. Large gardens for outdoor walking. Plenty of food and drink available. House has timed tickets available online or at the ticket office on arrival. Staff friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

A good wee place to explore and walk (in the garden), learn about history, architecture and art. Perfect for couples and families as they have a nice cafe(outdoor sitting) and wine shop. Some of the areas were closed when we visited(they were doing some renovation/maintenance work). They have spacious parking. Overall a very good experience.

Lovely day out, and very beautiful architecture. Lots of walking, if you like that sort of thing, which we do! The Manor's history is also fascinating. We enjoyed it here. The gardens are particularly beautiful.

We had a great family day out here, the house is beautiful and full of amazing artifacts, and all manner of priceless treasures. I enjoyed the Solomon's temple exhibit, interesting to see how it may have looked in it's original form. The grounds looked incredible with the autumn colours, and walking around a finding little hidden details was interesting. The outdoor cafe next to the gift shop had lovely, tasty food and drinks available. The gift shop was very pleasant aswell. Every interaction we had with the people working/volunteering there was very positive. Thankyou for a great time.

Beautifully kept manor. Lovely to walk around. Kids can run free and have a look at the birds. Kids also have a nice playground to go in. The whole place is pushchair friendly. There is a steep slope down to the play area and stables bit. The shuttle bus is great if you don’t like too much walking. Car park was spacious. Great day!

Bekonscot Model Village & Railway is a unique and charming attraction located in Buckinghamshire. It holds the title of being the oldest model village in the world, having been built in the late 1920s. The village spans across 1.5 acres of gardens and consists of seven model towns and villages connected by a detailed model railway.
Booking online 48 hours in advance gives you 10% off. Family tickets available. There’s a small ride on train at the entrance for an extra charge of £1.80. Children delighted with the trains going round the model village. Great models from all eras with shops, schools, a harbour, castles etc. Small indoor play area with dressing up. Great play area with climbing frames and slides. Food and drinks with some indoor seating and picnic tables outside. Extra bonus at the weekend was a display of birds of prey. Very good value day out.

Absolutely love this model village. We went here on the drive home to pop in as we went when we were kids (now 30) and we enjoyed it just as much. It also brought back alot of memories for my parents and my dad spent the most time walking around and taking photos out of all of us (big kid at heart). We even took a ride on the little train for 5 minutes. Definitely a place for all ages and a fun day out. It also has a cafe and a little exhibition room which was great.

This is such a beautiful place to visit we went with our kids and they totally loved it!! The whole tiny town is such a work of art the little details are just amazing!! Our kids were amazed and so were we! There is a little cafe where we get sandwiches and coffee etc. There is a big playarea for kids which they totally enjoy!! The best was the train ride.. so fun we had the best time here! Totally recommend it ❤️❤️❤️
Yuga P — Google review
The best place for little train-obsessed five year olds. We have visited the site last year and this year, our little one was constantly talking about it and we had to return. We love the place, it brings so much tranquility and soothe as it moves you in time and place of calm, order and simpler life. The scenery and each detail make you appreciate the way of life we have lost, seems so precious. Pay attention to details - like name on the shops and venues, make you giggle, the train stations and trains running everywhere (the bridge by the castle!). And the horticultural care - what a masterpiece of mini elms, pines, little rivers, cascades. There is a short train ride for families and you can have some fun with operating a boat on a pond. Plenty of koi carps, would be great if we could feed them, too! (Please sell the fish food with tickets!) We discovered new room where old type writer is, what a great fun to do some scenarios and play with props. Playground is also awesome for kids, good food selection in cafe (although I would like to see more healthier options) and plenty of seating area (you can bring your own food). Thank you for being there :)

Bekonscot Model Village is a fun and cute place. Everything is small and detailed little houses, trains, and people. It feels like a tiny world! It’s perfect for families, kids, and anyone with a love for history or craftsmanship. The garden is very pretty and the whole place is clean and well looked after. The staff are kind and helpful. You can also enjoy a snack or drink at the café. A great place to relax and enjoy a peaceful day.

Found this place as a suggestion on Instagram and Facebook, and really wanted to visit. What better time to visit this place is on a sunny day! I enjoyed my visit to this place. First off, I wanted to experience the mini train ride which was fun. The highlight was the miniature houses, landmarks and villages where you get to walk around it! I felt like I was in a different world and I loved it! My favourite part were the mini trains running around the mini village! It added to the beauty of the model village! The staff and the team there have all been amazing and accommodating! Thank you so much guys! One of the train engineers there (I believe his name was Joseph) gave us an inspiring insight about the model village and even mentioned the names of the mini trains which was fascinating. I highly recommend this place for inspiration, for family outing, and also an Instagram-worthy place! 😊❤️🫶🏼

Parking here is free in the church car park opposite the model village entrance. The model village is brilliant and has a gauge 1 size computer controlled model railway running all the time. There are lots of working animatronics and even a trail for the children to follow and search for various items. There is also a children's playground area and also a miniature train to ride on (small extra cost of £1-80 per person). It also has a remote control model boating lake area (small extra charge). There are full facilities of toilets, cafe, ice cream and picnic area. I personally a good day out here (4hrs.); went round it twice and saw things I missed first time round. If you like model villages, then I recommend you visit Bekonscot, it's a great visit.

Nestled in the picturesque Buckinghamshire countryside, the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre is a delightful destination for train enthusiasts of all ages. Spanning 25 acres, this charming site features an impressive array of vintage steam and diesel locomotives dating back to the 19th century, all set against the backdrop of a beautifully recreated Victorian station. Families can enjoy rides on a miniature railway that winds through wooded areas and even includes a tunnel!
It was Father’s Day when we visited and my husband was in second heaven. He didn’t want to leave. Lots to see in the train museum, book shop and on the platform there was a historic bike display. Good food and a chance to go on a short ride on Thomas the Tank engine. What more could a train enthusiast need?

Visited to see Wightwick Hall running on the Steam weekend. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Lots of engines to see around the site. Visited the museum, lots to see in there. We enjoyed a Thomas and Friends day here where we got to ride on 2 different steam trains (Thomas and Percy) and enjoy all Thomas activities from dancing shows to craft activities. The model train rides were also great fun and the kids had a blast. There is also a very reasonable priced cafe in the main centre with loads of train related toys for the kids to keep them busy. There even was a steam tractor-trailer ride which the kids loved. Will definitely be back again in the near future, Thanks Bucks Railway Centre

A fantastic museum, run and looked after by very friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and interesting volunteers. The full site is sizeable, with a huge amount of exhibits both inside and outside. For the best experience a visit on one of the steaming days is highly recommended, but the café and shop are open most days and are a delight in themselves.

Fantastic day out, great value for money. Museum opens at 1030 and first train departs at 11am. Steam train ride lasts around 17minutes but you can do it as many times as you like. Museum well laid out and informative. Cafe reasonably priced £6 for 2 hot drinks, £5 for two ice creams.

We have been coming to the Railway centre for many years and have watched it get better and better. It is a must for any transport enthusiasts and especially train fans of course. Lots to see and do for all ages. Loads of historic info for adults and older children and plenty to do for little ones as well. Miniature train rides are a great addition. Plenty of food and drink on offer especially on event days. We came back for Auto Fest which was a classic vehicle event. Loads of interesting cars and vehicles attended and there was Live music and morris dancers. Great day out for families and people who like nostalgic days out.

Great museum with lots to see. Little train running today so wonderful little ride for the kids. Large steam train running too so nice little run back and forth in the line. Plenty of information to help you along the way. Well worth a visit.

Odds Farm Park is a fantastic destination for families with young children, offering a range of activities to keep everyone entertained. The park features animal encounters, tractor rides, and indoor play areas, providing an opportunity for visitors to meet friendly farm animals and learn about farming. Additionally, there are outdoor play options such as go-karts and crazy golf, ensuring that there's something for everyone to enjoy.
This place is a complete bundle of joy for the whole family - the extreme close encounters at the animal barns to start with, massive adventure playground and sand play areas, go karts, golf park and to top it all - a giant soft play well curated for the little senses, this place had got something to offer for everyone. A must visit for the whole family attending throughout the year. We visited them at the family Pumpkin Nights festival and it had so much fun to offer - marshmallow toasting, access to the entire park exclusively at the evening, lights and glow events at the show barn and silent disco. It was overall an unforgettable experience and extremely hard for little to leave the place after such fun hours of play and entertainment

We had a lovely time at the farm with our baby last Thursday. We really enjoyed feeding the animals, and the outdoor play areas were fantastic! The baby soft play could definitely use more balls in the ball pit, and the café closed quite early, with no food options available later on. Still, it’s a great spot for little ones and we’d happily go back!

Odds Farm is a fantastic place for a family day out. We went for a birthday party and the kids had a brilliant time! There’s a great indoor play area, outdoor playgrounds, a sand zone, and lots of animals to feed like goats and sheep. The staff were friendly and everything was well organised. Highly recommended, especially for families with young children.

We spent the day at Odds Farm for Halloween half term and it was a blast. From pumpkin picking (every paying child gets a FREE pumpkin!) to watching Wicked the Musical performances — three times might I add, because it was definitely my son’s highlight of the day! We also loved the brilliant bubble show, tractor & trailer ride, Marmalade’s Mini Rovers, and of course feeding all the adorable animals. If you’re looking for some Halloween fun this half term, I highly recommend Odds Farm - there’s so much to do and it’s perfect for little ones! We’ll definitely be back soon! (@landoandlyra) x

✨Spring magic, fluffy friends & big smiles — that's what our Easter adventure at @oddsfarmpark was all about! We fed adorable goats, cuddled lambs, explored the Easter trail and got crafty in the barn! Plus: we zoomed around on mini tractors, played crazy golf, roasted marshmallows over the fire, splashed in water play, and ran wild on the massive playground! A full day of laughter, fresh air, and proper childhood joy.

Came for my son's 2nd birthday. Not a birthday package or anything. Just turned up , no booking, me little one and 4 others. Cost us £110 for all 6 of us.... Expensive, but worth it!!! Gift store you can go to in and out of at any time. We didn't get anything because we just paid £110 so felt very broke after that... Anyway... We came in and there's loads of space for the kids to play with the playgrounds, sand pits and ride on trucks. My little one was too young older it all and I didn't want sand in my car, but for a day out with older kids aged 4+, definitely worth it for a good few hours. We went to the first animal place we saw which was pen for the sheep and goats. My little one loved it. We had bought 2 packets of animal feed as well and my 2 year old was obsessed with feeding the goats !!! Honestly he could have done it for hours. Half expected him to leave there with an employment contract. It was so clean and well kept and my 2 year old had NO FEAR AT ALL in shoving his hand in the animals mouth with the animal feed. There were a fair amount of animal feed dropped by others that had been there before us, aswell as my son dropping some. He just didn't want to leave. They had bunnies there you could touch and they were sooooooo amazingly soft to touch. My son was not interested but it was a little moment I took for myself. Such a good de-stresser ! Upon leaving the animal pens, which had a hand wash station with running and well temperatures water and well stocked soap, we then came across the crazy golf. I had brought my 50+ year old mum with me who wanted to do it, but little one is too young to understand it and no assault some one with a cold club. Mum would have loved it if we did it. Maybe next year mum ! We then came across the sheep sheering show but I don't think little one was interested. Again, another thing to do next year or the year after ( we are definitely coming back by the way, without a doubt) lots of barns for activities of all ages. Lots of play parks everywhere on site of all sizes some even had a little water park with some fountains (child friendly) for them to enjoy on a hot day. We then went and played some football which little one was still grasping the concept of..... Kept reminding him to use his feet and not his hands for a football but he will get there.... One day .. I hope hahaha, maybe he's a rugby sort of boy. Who knows. We then had a tractor ride which happens every hour which we all loved as a family. Our tractor driver was very friendly and lovely. And have us a clear easy to follow safety briefing, once we got off we went to the furthest part of the farm and saw the variety of different breeds of chickens. It was amazing and they looked so funny and cute. We then headed home and my son fell asleep in the back of the car. What an eventful day! there was a cafe there we nipped into a couple of times to get some hot and cold drinks. They sold cakes and all sorts. And juice for the kids.... And me . Was such a fun day out and we loved it. Will definitely be back later in the year and next year for a 3rd birthday. Thank you to all the staff for keeping it clean. It was fantastic to learn it's a family run farm and the family engaged with guests some times. Cannot fault it.. except the price but I guess it goes to the farm and the staff as well as the animals to look after them and keep them well fed and kept. So much to do. Could easily spend a whole day here. Id recommend to come with kids aged 2 up to 11 years old. Consider bringing a pram if your little kids (aged 2 - 4) don't like to walk around much... Or don't get out at all. Bring suncream and lots of water. For the warmer days you come here. You won't regret it.

Nature & Parks
Park
Black Park Country Park is a sprawling 530-acre expanse of lush woodlands, heathlands, and open spaces in South Buckinghamshire. It offers 10 miles of well-surfaced paths for leisurely walks and family playtime. The park features an adventure course with zip wires and rope bridges, making it an exciting destination for more adventurous visitors. Additionally, there are family-friendly attractions such as the Go Ape Tree Top Adventure, Tree Top Junior, and Segways.
This park is absolutely beautiful, especially on a sunny day! The lush trees provide plenty of shade, and the open meadows in between add a nice contrast, making it a perfect spot to relax. Whether you’re looking to take a peaceful walk, have a picnic, or just enjoy nature, this place has a little bit of everything. It’s also a dream for photography lovers—the combination of greenery, sunlight, and open spaces makes for some fantastic shots. And if you have a dog, they’re going to love it here! Plenty of space to run around and explore. Definitely a place worth visiting if you’re looking for a calm escape from the city!

Lovely quiet stroll around the lake and in the woods. Super for dogs. Although there's a warning for blue green algae my dogs have never become ill there. Just be aware. The water was clear today.

Loved Black Park near Slough! The 6km circular walk through trees was perfect for escaping the heat. The lake is beautiful, and there's a lovely restaurant nearby. It's dog-friendly too - dogs had a blast fetching balls in the lake! Parking is chargeable (£5 for 3hrs, £6 all-day). Great spot for families and nature lovers. Can't wait to go back!
Vikram R — Google review
Decent parking, access to go ape and other paid activities (mini 4x4 etc). Two on site restaurants a large lake and often activities on (we had a Dino walk). The actual activity was pretty poor and annoyingly the start point is a fair trek from the car park and wasn't clear that is where you had to start.
Martyn W — Google review
Black Park really feels like a hidden gem in the suburbs — the size is generous (over 500 acres of woodland, heath and open space) , so there’s plenty of room to roam without feeling too crowded. The walking trails around the lake are peaceful and scenic — there’s a 3.4 km circular route that shows off the lake and the woods beautifully. The park is well maintained, and you’ll notice wildlife and birdlife if you meander off the beaten path. There’s a good-sized car park but it can fill up on busy days, so arriving early is wise. As for costs and extras: parking isn’t free — it can run up to about £5.70 depending on time and demand, payable by card, cash or via an app (Ringo) . If you’re after a big adrenaline fix, Go Ape Black Park is a highlight: their Treetop Challenge is one of the pricier options, with other levels like Treetop Adventure and Nets Adventure more family-friendly. Reviews say it’s well run, but do expect to pay for the thrill. For food, the Lakeside Café (on-site) is a good go-to for light meals or snacks mid-walk. Beyond that your best bet is to bring a picnic or plan something in nearby Slough.

A beautiful and relaxing place away from town noise. A wonderful little lake to walk around, toilets onsite although I didnt use them so cant say how clean they were. You can take your dog with you. Car park a little pricey at £5-£6 depending on length of stay. A nice family outing.

A truly serene and beautifully manicured park. It also has ropes courses (I think called go apes in the UK). The lake was perfect for a stroll or two around. I can’t wait to come back.
Brandon N — Google review
I visited Black Country Park this past Sunday morning to try the Go Ape Treetop Challenge, and it completely exceeded my expectations. My young cousin and I had an amazing time navigating the treetop obstacles, ziplines, and rope courses. The layout provided just the right balance of challenge and fun for all skill levels. I’d especially like to thank Abdul, our instructor, for his excellent guidance. He was patient, knowledgeable, and made sure we understood all safety procedures clearly. His supportive presence throughout the course gave us extra confidence to push ourselves. While £85 for two people may seem steep at first glance, the experience was absolutely worth it. The park itself is beautifully maintained, with peaceful woodland surroundings that make you forget you’re still in London. My cousin hasn’t stopped talking about our adventure, and I’d wholeheartedly recommend Go Ape to anyone looking for an exciting outdoor activity. It’s perfect for families, friends, or even team-building outings. Tip: Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and book ahead as sessions tend to sell out quickly!

Stowe Gardens, part of the National Trust, offers visitors a chance to explore 250 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens featuring lakes, temples, and monuments. The estate is home to Stowe House, a 17th-century mansion with enchanting gardens and secret temples designed by Capability Brown. The property boasts woodlands, secret gardens, and water features for visitors to enjoy.
Stowe Gardens is one of the most breathtaking landscapes in England — a true masterpiece of 18th-century garden design. Managed by the National Trust, it offers an unforgettable day out, blending nature, art, and history in the most spectacular setting. The sheer scale of Stowe is incredible. Sweeping lawns, serene lakes, hidden valleys, and winding paths lead you to over 30 magnificent monuments and temples, each with its own story. Every turn feels like walking into a different painting. It’s easy to spend hours just wandering, soaking in the beauty and tranquillity. The gardens are immaculately maintained, and there’s a real sense of stepping back in time. Whether you’re a keen walker, a history enthusiast, or simply someone who loves peaceful, inspiring places, Stowe has something to offer. It’s especially magical in spring and autumn when the colours of the landscape are at their most vibrant. The visitor centre is excellent too, with a good café, a shop full of lovely gifts and plants, and very helpful staff. There’s plenty of parking, and the welcome walk from the centre to the gardens gives you a perfect build-up before you reach the main view. Stowe Gardens is not just a visit — it’s an experience, a place that leaves you feeling refreshed, inspired, and slightly awestruck by its beauty.

Once you're near, follow the signs for the national trust parking, as there are several entrances. Its £17 per adult, National Trust members are free. Parking is free. Toilets available. Cafe. Book store. Small shop. The grounds are massive, with many many walks to be had, and you can walk even further through fields. The walkways are wide, and well maintained. Good for buggies.. This is one of the biggest National Trust places Ive been to, and an excellent choice for walking.

WOW. Amongst the amazing treasure the national trust recommends, this was top of the list! The gardens, the monuments and the actual house were just mesmerising. We loved our trip and the whole vibe was just so peaceful and scenic. We didn’t see inside the house as we have left that so we can come back and explore it! We didn’t explore the gardens and the views were just breathtaking. I highly recommend visiting! And can I just add the amount of amazing fruit trees littered around are beautiful. We did pick some fruit (no signs to say we couldn’t, sorry!) Amazing day out

Who can resist the magnificent Stowe! A little bit of a walk from the car park, or fir those less mobile, a ride in the buggy. Beautiful parkland and buildings. Eat in the cafe or bring a picnic.

Beautiful landscape dotted with monuments, temples and statues. Be prepared for a lot of walking on rolling undulating paths and grassland. It’s 800 metres from the cafe/shop just to the parkland entrance. Good shoes are essential. Lots of photo worthy views round every corner. The cafe serves excellent coffee and has a good range of savoury and sweet treats. Also an excellent second hand bookshop.
G F — Google review
Vast grounds, lush green scenery, and lots to see. In one corner about a couple of miles there’s glorious and historic building of Stowe School that offers information and display about the 300 years old dynasty and how they lived lavishly. Entry to the Stowe School building is £9 pp and must be booked in advance as it’s not a National Trust building. There are various statues, temples and old buildings in the vast grounds that are worth visiting. Plenty of walk and plenty to explore.
Mas — Google review
Beautiful gardens and scenic vast gardens. The house is additional ticket over the national trust ticket you purchase. There are plenty of big walks to take and enjoy the lake that has a lot of algae and lotus.
Nagaraj T — Google review
A renowned example of an 18th-century English landscape garden, developed primarily by the Temple family from 1717 onwards. The gardens were significantly shaped by a series of designers, including Charles Bridgeman, William Kent, and "Capability" Brown, transforming formal gardens into a more naturalistic landscape. The gardens are known for their lakes, artificial islands, tree avenues, and carefully placed monuments, including the ha-ha, which is one of the earliest examples in England. The gardens also feature over 40 temples and monuments, each with its own unique story and design. Great place, definitely worth a visit if you're a National Trust member, there is a lot of walking.

The Hellfire Caves, located just outside the village of West Wycombe in Buckinghamshire, offer a unique and thrilling underground exploration experience. This man-made cave network extends 300ft underground and was once used by the mysterious 18th Century high-society Hellfire Club for their secret meetings. Visitors can take tours to discover underground passages, chambers, and perhaps even encounter the caves' reputed ghosts.
Interesting place. Have passed this so many times and wanted to visit. It was worth the visit, lovely small cafe before you enter, inside is very good. Took a walk to the Church and Mausoleum, again steeped in history. We had lunch at The Walled Garden, lots to choose from and very nice

Excellent alternative day out. Caves are easy to get through and we'll looks after. Loads of fun history in the place as well. Would love to have done more in the area but most was taken up by Netflix filming but will definitely go back and try again. Walled cafe also a good treat in the area. Food was good quality and there was no long wait for service.

Really cool spot to explore. We rented a car to visit Diddly Squat Farm from London and stopped by here for our 12 year old. Chilly underground while it was sweltering at the surface. We climbed up to the mausoleum and the views were amazing.

Hell fire caves as most know has an amazing history and very creepy complicated past which was amazing to learn about and also research myself the caves were amazing the craftsmanship was definitely something to visit not to mention it is DEFINITELY haunted so not for the weak haha but we loved it. Will probably visit again in the future!

Amazing little secret if you know about it. I stumbled across this and it was a fantastic visit with a great little coffee shop at the entrance that you don't need to actually buy a ticket to use. I will be visiting again with the family, and let them experience the caves. Great half term visit.
JPJ A — Google review
Brilliant visitor attraction and worth the experience. There are lots of stories about the caves that are brought to life through interpretation panels, wax model displays, and audio. I did find the audio a bit loud and at times distracting, can be a bit of a sensory overload. Would be great if they have a “quiet time” for people who need it. But failing that I’d recommend bringing some ear defenders or noise cancelling headphones. It can be cold in the caves so wear layers. And I can see that it could be slippery so good shoes are a must. There is a cafe on site, and further down the hill at The Walled Garden cafe.
Laura H — Google review
We found these caves by chance as we went to this area for another event. They had a Halloween event on at these on the 26th October when we visited and there were people dressed up down in the caves with spooky decorations and scenes setup down there too. It was great the caves are very interesting and the history that goes along with them is great too. There is a little cafe at the menu entrance which is very fairly priced. The staff were friendly and polite. If you are in the area I would recommend a visit to these caves.

Hogshaw Farm & Wildlife Park is a delightful family-friendly destination where visitors can interact with animals, explore nature trails, and enjoy adventure play areas. The park features indoor bouncy castles, sandpits, playgrounds, and a water splash area alongside animal farms housing reindeer and other wildlife. While the outdoor space lacks ample shade and the restroom facilities may not be ideal for some, the farm's picturesque location offers a serene atmosphere.
Visited on a school holiday weekday with two adults and my 3 year old daughter, had an absolutely great time. I think the price is very fair and a great day out the animals themselves were great, a really good variety to see including birds of prey, creepy crawlies, wolves, foxes and your more traditional farmyard animals. The indoor play area was great and the outdoor play areas were brilliant very varied and plenty of seating for us as well as lots of things to keep our little one happy and entertained! Would definitely recommend to anyone!

We have visited twice in the past couple of months and it’s the best farm we have been to. They have places you can walkthrough and be up close to the animals. We attended the bird show with the owls and my nephew loved it. The gentleman who ran it was very informative and made sure everyone was involved. You can feed the goats and they also love to be petted. The soft play is a lovely touch but the older children's part is a bit dark and my nephew didn’t want to go in. The park is massive and the bounce park is well maintained. Car park is very big and the staff are all super friendly.

We had a lovely experience today at Hogshaw Farm. 2 adults. 2 chdn under 10. There is so much to do and to see. For £15 pp there's 2 sand pits, multiple play areas, water play area (within one sand area), farm animals and some wildlife animals. We pre booked the bird show (free) and the woman who presented really knew her info and made it really interesting! She spent some time answering my sons questions too. We didn't eat there but the cafe was huge and had a massive soft play inside. Toilets situated at the beginning. Loads of places to sit and eat. Small train ride and bouncy pillows x 2 for under 5s and 5 plus. All the staff were really really friendly and I can't fault them at all! Would highly recommend for a day out in the sun as it's all outdoors apart from cafe n shop.

Highly recommend this farm to everyone! Clean and spacious — no crowds, everyone has their own space. The animals are well cared for and have everything they need. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is absolutely delicious! There are bins everywhere, the toilets are clean, and the farm is well thought out for both sunny and rainy days. Everything 10/10 — bravo! 😊👏

Hidden Gem - you can tell the animals are very well looked after with lots of grass and space for them to freely roam. It is very clean compared to other farms I have previously visited. The goat and chicken walk throughs allows you to get up close with the animals which is brilliant. The park is good for children to go off and play without the worry that it is too high or they could fall off as it is all enclosed unlike other play areas at other farms or parks etc. Soft play indoors allows children to go off and burn energy whilst adults can sit and have some chill time. There was lots of tables free in order to sit down here for a hot drink. The place was clean throughout. We went during the Halloween break so did the pumpkin workshop and potion workshop both were enjoyable and worth the extra payment. Only downfall hence being 4 stars and not 5 is that we found some activities not clearly advertised for example we couldn’t find the potion workshop and walked everywhere to discover it was right at the start. Same for the pumpkin workshop we only saw that as it was next to the buggy car rides. We attended the 11am bird show which stated it was in a specific area. Ourselves alongside 3 other families sat on the benches outside in the arena part near the eagle and foxes. It got to 11:05 where we realised we clearly weren’t in the right place and found that the show was actually further down in a big cage with chairs. It would be beneficial for this to be more clearly displayed where the shows actually is. I believe a printed map for guests would be beneficial alongside a printed timetable of what is on during the day to make it clear for families to be able to plan activities accordingly. I know there are ‘what’s on’ signs around the farm but these should be printed for guests. Also the toilets outside the soft play area were too small especially if you have a young child with you who needs the toilet and needs help with this (although I am aware there were signs stating that this is temporary) hopefully once properly sorted the toilets will be more easily accessible. Overall would return as it is a very good place to go for families.

Wow this farm is a hidden gem. Went for the first time yesterday. The staff offer a warm welcome, the site is clean and tidy, and the animals are amazing. The staff offer lots of information about all the animals. The deer meadow was wonderful, the tractor ride was really sweet you go around a track on a field hunting for animals, the owl display was a highlight (Lottie was fabulous at teaching us all about barn owls as they fly around your heads!!), the barn furry friends feeding was fun, grooming the donkeys was a treat (the two young staff members were super kind & chatty too) and all the various play areas are genuinely fantastic (soft play, sand pit, straw bay obstacle course, jumping pillows, and a great outdoor park). But the most amazing part was that we accidentally dropped “foxy”, my daughters precious jelly cat Teddy from birth, it’s a comforter for her to help regulate her emotions (she is AuDHD) and the staff found him for us and kept him safe so we could come back and collect him. some parents will understand how grateful I am for that!!

We had a lovely afternoon out. I took my daughter who has special needs, she had a wonderful time stroking the animals. Most of the animals are so friendly and love a good fuss or scratch behind the ears! My daughter absolutely loves donkeys and we spent a long time with them while she stroked them and just generally stayed with them. The goats and sheep were lovely too. There was lots of young families, some went in the swimming pool and all seemed to be having a great time. The cafe's are expensive (£2.25 for a can of coke)! Well worth a visit just bring your own lunch and drinks!

Visited the brewery shop. Fantastic beer, with free samples of the cask beers. Loads of canned beers together with a great range of English sourced spirits and liqueurs. Highly recommended.

I love the Chiltern Brewery. I have been buying their beer for years. Lovely place, friendly staff and brilliant beer! What's not to like? They also run the Kings Head pub in Aylesbury which is my favourite Olde Worlde pub.

I can't tell you how much I love this brand and how great this Brewery shop is, and the staff are super friendly and helpful. I love the fact that you can buy takeaway draught beer. I also did the Brewery tour a few years back what was great fun. Oh and I definitely recommend buying a jar of pickled onions. 100% definitely worth a visit.

Excellent brewery and shop. First class service with knowledgeable, helpful and friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy real ale, free samples to try before you buy.

Very friendly and helpful staff. I was given samples if the various beers on offer in order to assist with my choice. Beers are excellent too. I came away with three different types in varying quantities. We had a barrel of Chiltern Black at our wedding reception and it always makes me think of that day. Despite that, it's still one of my favourite beers. 😃

Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital, located in Haddenham, Aylesbury, is a remarkable place dedicated to caring for injured wildlife. The hospital also features a visitor center and an educational trail around its gardens. It's known for being disabled and pushchair-friendly with baby changing facilities available. Visitors praise the play area for children, craft activities, cleanliness, and beautiful picnic spots at reasonable prices.
Dropped off an injured Juvenile Jackdaw, the staff were very professional and the triage was extremely swift. They kindly gave me a reference number and telephone number to call for updates. I had a wander round the visitor's centre after dropping off the injured bird, it's lovely to see such an array of rescued animals all thriving, including but not limited to hedgehogs, tortoises, ducks, squirrels, badgers, red kites, owls and deer.

It was lovely. The staff were really kind and friendly. It was so nice to see certain animals up close like hedgehogs and deer and birds. It's very tranquil to walk around. Such a lovely idea and layout. Would love to come again.

Beautiful animal sanctuary. Interesting for adults and children (playground). Just to be a bit patient and quiet and animals will come from their hideouts as curious as they are. Its worth to come during the feeding time. Only gulls are hospitalized. All other birds are freeloaders / lunch time 😁

What a nice day out with both our toddlers! There is a playground with tricycles and bikes for little kids to run around. The animal talks were very exciting even for kids, we learned so much about some animals (hedgehogs and deer in particular), the arts and crafts area was well stocked and the activities were on point. The foxes area was the highlight of our tour though! We had never been able to see any fox for longer than 2 seconds before coming here! We took our lunch boxes and had lunch outside in the picnic area by the playground

Open 24hrs. I took a poorly hedgehog to Tiggywinkles early one Sunday morning. It was checked in immediately. I can ring to find out how it's doing later in the week.🤞 Unfortunately, even if it survives, I can't collect it. It will be phase released elsewhere.

It was lovely to visit the centre. An opportunity to see the work that is done, at the same time as providing income for the hospital to continue their great work. It was disappointing to hear the farmer next door shooting wildlife, whilst we were there enjoying the surroundings and sunshine. It would be great to know more of the stories behind the animals that are there. It brings great comfort to know this amazing place exists, and that there are so many of us that love and want to protect the wildlife from harm and suffering. By visiting or donating you are helping them to continue their great work.

Lovely afternoon out visiting the wildlife, great selection including foxes, badgers, owls. We saw some very small animals being fed in the nursery and the hedgehogs and tortoises came out to say hello. Good play area with seating as well for rest times

We found an injured hedgehog and took it to Tiggywinkles, where we were warmly welcomed by their friendly and professional staff. They provided excellent care for the hedgehog and kept us informed about its treatment. My children were thrilled to hear the updates and felt really reassured knowing it was in such good hands.

Wow. MK Museum surpassed all my expectations. What unbelievable value for money for a SAHM and toddler. I have taken my two year old son here twice in two weeks and he's not stopped talking about it. The highlight so far has been the working water wheel which we didn't know was there until we visited. Thank you to Paul and Diane (Thursday crew) for being so kind and helpful, showing my young son the music boxes and pianola, Ben (Wednesday) for the sewing machine and shoe polishing machine demonstrations, and John (Wednesday) for the many many(!) walks through the farming hall. What an absolute joy you all have been - so encouraging, making my son's visit so hands on and educational. He's already asking to come back! The only thing that's been a sticky point is that some of the volunteers have different opinions/ rules on what young children are allowed to engage with and touch.

Milton Keynes Museum is such a wonderful place for children and adults alike. We’ve taken our three little ones here almost weekly (upon their request!), and they love every minute of it. Such a wide variety of exhibits and interactive displays and activities would be enough for most, but when you couple this with the outstanding volunteers that work here week round, it’s hard not to come back! Huge thank you to all the wonderful volunteers for bringing the exhibits to life and for being so kind and attentive in the tea room! We cannot recommend the Milton Keynes Museum enough

A charming museum full of local character and rich historical atmosphere. Housed in old brick buildings and warehouses, it features several themed exhibition areas showcasing British industry, communication, transportation, and daily life, perfect for anyone interested in modern British lifestyles. What makes it special is that many exhibits are interactive, letting you experience how things were actually used in the past. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, often dressed in period costumes to demonstrate and explain the exhibits. It’s a wonderful place to explore local history and see how Britain transitioned from an agricultural to an industrial society. Highly recommended!

I come here every month for the past 4 years and I've seen it change a lot which is cool. It's got lots of old things and there's a new section that's opened up with fossils, it's quite interesting. Kept hearing a lot of the volunteers screaming at the toddlers because they were holding a phone wrong. Clearly they can't communicate with them properly. Nice café.

The National Museum of Computing is a fascinating destination for tech enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Visitors can explore a vast collection of historic computers, with guided tours available to delve into the rebuilt Colossus and demonstrations showcasing the inner workings of Bombe, Tunny, and Colossus machines. Additionally, retro gaming machines are set up for interactive enjoyment. The museum offers an engaging experience that may require around 2-4 hours to fully appreciate all it has to offer.
A place that must be visited if you are interested in World War II history, Intelligence Services, and the early days of computer science and cryptography. The museum features numerous interactive panels that make the visit enjoyable. I really liked the area dedicated to the National Radio Centre, which is an exhibition focused on the world of amateur radio. In the museum shop, I was struck by some envelopes containing replicas of period documents and books that delve deeper into characters or activities related to Bletchley Park. Finally, a special mention to the staff and volunteers, who conveyed enthusiasm and warmth during my first visit.

Fantastic place to visit. All the staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Learnt so much. My generation did not receive education about WW2 so it was helpful to slot things I knew into place and learn so much more. Especially about the codebreaking from Frank. Our adult sons were thrilled to see their school computer in the museum and of course we saw our old faithful Amstrad. So much to do and see and definitely needs a return visit. Have to commend Amanda in the cafe for excellent coffee and service. And the new toilets are the best public facilities I have ever seen.

I would suggest that you go to Bletchley Park, which is immediately adjacent, sharing a parking lot, before you come here. This is gonna provide a lot of amplification and it’s all going to make a lot more sense if you’ve got the historical back drop of Bletchley Park first. I think Bletchley Park is gonna be more interesting to the historian or the person that tracks a little bit more on the human side. This museum is going to be more interesting to the engineer or IT person that likes to get a little bit more into the weeds of how you break a code and how do you develop a computer for the first time? I enjoyed both of them quite a bit and I think they fit together really well. You could do them both on the same day, but it would be pretty mentally taxing! Take a break in the middle. I think if your budget one and a half to 2 1/2 hours that should be enough for most people to get through the exhibits and watch some demonstrations This is an example we’re watching. The demonstrations actually is pretty much the reason why you’re gonna wanna come. Otherwise you just walk into a room you see an old machine from the 1940s you can look at it for me and say wow that looks complicated. And that’s about all that you get out of it. However, at least on the day I was there, they have a volunteer in multiple rooms that will spend about a half an hour, explaining the problem, walking through the solution, and the story of the person that worked on it, why this machine was a solution of the problem. And then they show you how the machine did it. The machines have been restored and they work! It’s absolutely amazing. Watching these stories come to life when they show you the demonstrations.

I went as a free carer/ companion. Although it wasn't really my thing, it was interesting. The volunteers have an incredible wealth of knowledge and were only too happy to share it when questions arose. Each of them filled with facts and enthusiasm made it very enjoyable. We had a laugh on the pinball and Crazy taxi arcade game and tried some of the early game systems. Highlights for me were the collection of old Nokia phones, the 70's style BT telephone and Trimphone each purring when the receivers were lifted (I miss that) and the early computers with card input. I remember my Pops bringing lots of the discarded cards home after he had been inputting the data onto new computers with disc memory. It was cool seeing what he would have had to do. Those big 'machines' looked familiar from visits to his offices at Massey Feguson CPO. Toilets were gleaming and there was a small coffee shop. Everyone that works in the museum has great pride in what they do and it shows.

For anyone with the slightest interest in the history of computers, this is a must. The range of machines and software ranging from WW2 to more current times is amazing. And many of them still work, including the world’s oldest, originally used at Harwell. The volunteer staff are friendly and very knowledgeable and, as a bonus, a small café provides welcome refreshment.

Additionally, they host kids' parties with buffets and trophies, making it an ideal venue for celebrations. For those who prefer a different kind of excitement, GB Shooting provides clay pigeon shooting in picturesque countryside surroundings.
I hired Formula Fast for a fundraising event and they are one of the best venues we've ever used. We chose to go with an exclusive hire (which is a minimum of six karts and then you have the full venue for your use - like for a birthday or a team building session. ) From the very start Phoebe helped me with all the planning, she could see what I wanted to achieve and stayed in communication throughout. On the day Lily, Katie, Mia, Charlie, Josh, Ollie, Nate, Michael - the whole front of house team were absolutely outstanding and beyond helpful to ensure everything ran smoothly and safely. (This was especially important for me as I wanted to have my dancers perform and stand as cheerleaders, as well as fizzy water for the podium - all of which was accommodated with style and safety). I thank Formula Fast on behalf of everyone who attended for your excellent hospitality. Every single team member was knowledgeable and supportive, and they even added extras like special lighting for us. All our guests said how lovely your facility was - welcoming, high tech and they loved the package options you offered - especially the unlimited pizza! We will certainly be back ourselves and would highly recommend Formula Fast for team events or parties.

The track is one of the best I've been to indoor. All on one level. Plenty of twists and a good straight. The karts have the option to have on board lap timing which is a handy feature if you are competitive. You can see the big time boards on track though. You get a camera attached to your helmet and it's optional if you want to pay for the footage at the end of the session. There is a small seating area for any spectators. The staff are friendly and welcoming. They get you prepared to go on track straight away. Then take you in to the safety briefing before getting you on track. I would definitely come back to this track again it was really good.

Pleasant visit during Easter. You can circle the whole place in 40min easily but if you want to visit leisurely 1hr is enough. Wish there were more ‘fact sign board’ about the animals. Plenty of goats and they were super active, wish there were more of the other animals or more variety. Cafe staff super lovely and can see they care about service. I recommend their chips

LOVE this place to come with small children. The white fox Jasper is beautiful. We were told to throw the food in for the pigs, which we did & loved watching them sniffling it all up. The goats were very gentle taking the food from the children - they use their lips to almost suck it up & the kids LOVED feeding them & the alpaca too. Fabulous way to spend a long morning with small children. We loved the rabbits & the chickens too. Brilliant sandpit & ride on toys too. Friendly staff. Good picnic area. Highly recommend.

Very good small goat centre. Not too far for little ones and old ones to walk but see a selection of animals including the grumpy pigs I have recently met. The kids will love it. Don't forget to call in the cafe. It's not exactly fast but everything we tried was excellent. The coronation chicken Baguette lasted me for two meals.

The best place to go for a cute date, family day out, or just when you’re feeling down and need to see some cute goats! The prices are reasonable, there’s a cafe and play area for kids, the staff are all really friendly. You can feed the goats, and there’s also chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, an alpaca, ducks and pigs.

Lovely little gem of a place! Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. They’re also very understanding of supporting neurodivergent needs as they run SEN sessions there. We had a lovely hot chocolate and cakes in the café before we left—all round a really nice visit. I’d add though, that this is a great place to visit as long as your expectations are aligned with what it actually is before coming. This isn’t a large farm park with lots of other offerings, it’s what it says it is: a goat centre! (It even has a famous goat from the movie Wicked.) They do have some other animals (rabbits, guinea pigs, pigs, an alpaca, ferrets, chickens and a beautiful fox) and some small play equipment, but it is mainly goats and wouldn’t take a huge amount of time to walk around if all you’re interested in doing is just noting that you’ve seen everything then moving on. The entry fee is pretty cheap, but if you want real value from this place, I really recommend booking the mini experiences as we did, where for £20 each (which includes entry to the centre) the farm staff will take you into the enclosures for 20 minutes (you can choose to do this with the goats or some of the other animals are options too) and tell you all about them, let you feed them and (in the case of the goats) brush and stroke them up close. My husband also went in to meet the fox! The money all goes towards supporting the centre and the work they do, so it was well spent for us.
Katie E — Google review
Staff are amazing, friendly and flexible in accommodating younger children. Entry is fairly priced for what is available. There are a few different breeds of goat, pigs, rabbits, guinea pigs, and an alpaca. Ducks and chickens were roaming around. Quite fun for children. Plenty of space for the animals and you can feed them. Lunch space is quite small if the weather is bad, the children's play area is lacking a bit, although you go for interacting with the animals, which was great!

I had the most wonderful evening at Coombe Hill with my friends who are all Aylesbury locals and recommended the site for our picnic. Safe to say, I was blown away by just how jaw-dropping the views are at the top. The sunset we watched was one of the best I’ve ever seen as you can see for several miles in the distance. It was nice and peaceful too, with barely any other people present. I look forward to coming back again soon 🫶

Peter Pan was great & the kids loved it, the seating is comfortable, modern and clean. The only reason this place doesn’t get 5 stars is because we had to pay £1.50 for kids booster seats which is slightly unfair as we had already paid for a seat. The drinks & snacks are also very expensive but this is to be expected. Overall a great day out.
ADG — Google review
The staff were excellent, the toilets spotless, and the theatre itself looked fresh and modern. But I was distracted the entire time by the uncomfortable seating. I’ve never sat in a more awkward seat tilted slightly forward, forcing me to fidget throughout the whole performance (apologies to the person next to me). I couldn’t find a comfortable position no matter how hard I tried. Whoever is in charge really needs to sit through a full two-hour show in those seats to understand how off-putting it can be.

The unusual and quirky interior is impressive, seats are comfy and the whole theatre is quite intimate. Decent sound, and the only issue is the same one as any theatre, and that is the ridiculous bar prices and inability to organise a proper queuing system 🤣 Overall, really good night out

No reflection whatsoever on the show itself, which was brilliant - however, I don’t plan on returning during warm weather. The auditorium was unbearably warm with no air conditioning available apparently. Completely unacceptable to get nicely dressed for a show and come out drenched in sweat. Most of the audience were fanning themselves with programs, flyers, or whatever they could get their hands on. Ruined what was otherwise a lovely evening. Please do better.

Easy to get too for an evening show and easy access to parking. A lovely little theatre and very clean and nice staff. Rock orchestra by candlelight was AMAZING!!!

Great theatre, polite and professional staff. Good parking facilities. I went to see the Luther Vandross tribute show for the 3rd time (Harry Cambridge) and the entire show, sound, lighting etc was amazing. Testimony to the production and stage crew on site. Such a brilliant venue for the pantomimes too, which are performed here.

First time visiting the theatre, watched Leigh Francis, a gorgeous well spaced theatre. Comfy seating, various levels for entries to the allocated areas. Parking access across the road from the theatre. Highly recommend, will be back!

West Wycombe Park is a historic mansion in High Wycombe, known for its association with Sir Francis Dashwood and the notorious Hellfire Club. The house, now owned by the National Trust, showcases a blend of Georgian architecture with Italianate influences, featuring facades designed as classical temples. Visitors can also explore the surrounding grounds, including a picturesque lake and charming temples. Additionally, the area offers other attractions such as the Roald Dahl Museum and Hell-Fire Caves for an enriching experience.
This is a National Trust site that many might miss but it is worth a visit! Almost hidden are the gates to enter off West Wycombe High Street. Short opening hours so please check before you set off. Also no cafe but there are two within a short walk (Walled Garden run by the Dashwood family and the Apple Orchard on the High Street. Enjoy a guided tour of the house (free flow on a Sunday) and peaceful walks around the garden and lake. Do explore the many temples built in the park, all very impressive.

Grand landscaped grounds with many temples, bridges and statues dotted around. House looks good but we could only see a few rooms due to a wedding taking place later on the day.

We had a lovely afternoon there. Car park is very close. Weekdays the house can be visited as part of a guided tour but tickets are going fast. On Sundays, it can be visited freely. The walk around the lake is amazing and the woods hide little gems. There is a toilet in the car park and very likely to be one in the house too.

I recently visited West Wycombe Park and had a wonderful experience exploring this historic estate. The park, with its beautifully landscaped gardens and impressive architecture, offers a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The grounds are meticulously maintained, featuring a mix of formal gardens, serene lakes, and charming woodland areas. Each section of the park has its own unique character, making the stroll through the estate a delightful journey of discovery. The views across the Chiltern Hills are breathtaking, especially from the higher vantage points. One particularly intriguing feature is the picturesque bridge, which was famously used as a filming location in the movie *Labyrinth*. Standing on this bridge, I felt a connection to the cinematic history and the enchanting scenes from the film. The centerpiece of the estate is the magnificent West Wycombe House, an exquisite example of Palladian architecture. The interiors are equally stunning, with opulent rooms that showcase an array of fine art and period furnishings. The guided tour of the house provided insightful details about its history and the Dashwood family who have lived there for generations. One of the highlights of my visit was the peaceful Temple of Music, a perfect spot to sit and enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings. The park also features several follies and classical temples, adding to its charm and historical intrigue. Overall, West Wycombe Park is a gem that offers a blend of natural beauty and historical significance. It’s an ideal destination for history enthusiasts, garden lovers, and anyone seeking a serene day out. I highly recommend a visit to this enchanting estate.

Went to visit here as was attending a labyrinth experience. As a huge fan of the movie and knowing part of the film was shot here I had to visit. Such a beautiful park with lots of nice scenery. Also enjoyed the day as it was fab to see everyone in cosplay. A beautiful park to visit even if it’s not for a geeky day out.

Visited here on a June afternoon when open. Had an interesting & informative tour which took an hour. Lovely lake & parklands to explore. A good way to spend a couple of hours.

I went here for an event so my review is based on what I saw that day. It's beautiful here, lawns, a giant pond, little bridges, a small wood. This is where the opening to Labyrinth was filmed.
Wendy P — Google review
Built between 1740-1800 this is a fabulous step back in a decadent past with Sir Francis Dashwood. An absolute classic piece of neoclassical design as the columns and pediment might indicate the house is really marvel and the decoration continues inside where you can see many painted ceilings. Around the house Surrounding it the 18th century estate which is resplendent with dashwood touches such as the temple of Flora, music and Apollo to name but a few comprising classical buildings scattered around the park. The park has on site parking and a great many walks that can be undertaken across the park that also includes a lake. Views are excellent across the valley and of the various buildings. There is much to explore about the history of the house and park and it's owners, which is well worth doing.

★★★★★ A Timeless Escape into English Grandeur Visiting Stowe House and Gardens is like stepping into a living painting. From the moment you arrive, the sheer scale and beauty of the landscape take your breath away. The gardens are an absolute masterpiece of design, with winding paths that lead you through a series of stunning vistas, classical temples, and serene lakes. Each turn reveals a new surprise, and you can easily spend hours getting lost in the artistry of the landscape. The house itself is equally magnificent. The architecture is a marvel, and the interiors are a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the people who once called this place home. The knowledgeable and passionate volunteers truly bring the history to life with their stories and insights, making the experience both educational and deeply engaging. What truly makes Stowe special is the feeling of tranquility and peace that permeates the entire estate. It’s a place where you can disconnect from the modern world and simply appreciate the beauty of nature and human creativity. Whether you're a history buff, a nature lover, or simply looking for a beautiful place to stroll, Stowe House and Gardens is an unmissable destination. I can't wait to go back!

Stowe House boasts a rich history spanning over three centuries, evolving from a manor house into a grand estate renowned for its architecture and landscape design. Featuring in productions such as: The Crown, X-men First Class, Stardust, Indiana Jones and James Bond, Stowe has a number of blockbusters, dramas, and documentaries to its name. We really enjoyed it, being National Trust members we booked the tour for free the day before, you do NOT get to see the whole house as it is a working school, with offices, (don't let this put you off) you can book to see it on the school holidays if you wish, but visit their website before you go not to be disappointed. What you do see is amazing, and the guide was great 👍. If you plan on seeing the gardens, be prepared for a lot of walking, they are amazing as well and worth it though.

Ok. I think it's quite nice, but let's get the bad stuff out the way first. The entrances, and other areas of the park/house are very badly signed...we found ourselves driving down to the entrance of the School, not the House. The car park we parked in does not have an obvious entry and the exit is one way, so we had to break the rules....😵 There's a small "museam" area which doesn't really have any info on what is on show, you just look at it and there's a very hidden bookshop that's easy to miss. Second bad thing, the Cafe and the Shop are extortionately priced, with 2 ice creams coming in at a whopping almost 6 pounds and they could have been better, however there is a wide range of confectionary, cakes and other food items on sale. The shop has some very interesting and coveted items, but a fridge magnet was roughly 3 pounds. However, there are various interesting landmarks and statues around the (incredibly long) walk (again, no info about them or anything) but are incredibly photogenic and most of my photos I've put here. There was a nice lady on the tickets desk who was very helpful explaining the map and sorting us out with our ticket. The actual Stowe House and Boarding School is situated around halfway round, and has cricket grounds, a marquee, and a cafe open to the public. There are some incredibly cute swans who have just had ducklings (20th May) I recommend this place, just get some good walking boots and a map!

Amazing place. The house is fantastic and the paintings are just terrific.

Find out about the fascinating history of the house that has become the school. Learn about the rise and fall of the families that owned it and the fire sales that lead to the house having none of the vast treasure of antiquities that it once had and the recent restoration project that has restored the fabric of a number of the rooms, including their magnificent ceilings.
Ian R — Google review
Very friendly, helpful staff, who couldn't do more to go out of their way for our visit (we had a wheelchair user). Beautiful rooms. Nice to see a working school around the historic rooms.

I visited on a Monday as soon as they opened. It was fairly quiet. The gardens are run by National Trust but the house is run by a separate charity, the Stowe House Preservation Trust. So NT members do need to pay for house admission, but they get £2 off. So NT folk pay £7.50 instead of £9.50. Very welcoming and helpful staff on at reception. There are about eight rooms upstairs that are open for the public to access. Stowe House has pupils from the school boarding here, so those areas are not accessible. Downstairs there are the Welcome Centre, Discovery Centre, the Egyptian Hall and a comprehensive exhibition of maquettes by the sculptor David Wynne, which is well worth viewing. I saw his River God sculpture in Newcastle recently and there is indeed a maquette for this included in the exhibition. The rooms are awesome and the ceilings breathtaking. The Marble Saloon is just stunning. It was definitely worth visiting. Fascinating place.

Hughenden Manor, a captivating National Trust property located in High Wycombe, invites visitors to explore the rich history of its former resident, Victorian Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli. From 1848 to 1881, this stunning country house served as his home and later played a secret role during World War II as a target map-making base known as Operation Hillside.
A great opportunity to look behind the scenes of one of Britain's greatest and innovative prime ministers. Fascinating home and beautiful gardens, with the added history of a secret war time map making facility. Very enthusiastic and informative guides. An incredible abundance of apples and fruit in the orchards.

Well looked after grounds, well tended gardens and beautifully managed Manor House. The facilities are more than adequate and volunteers are helpful and knowledgeable to explain and answer questions. However, we found the lights were very dim in most of the rooms downstairs and it was difficult to see or read the information provided in the pamphlets and walls.

No queues, not a lot of people and one of the most comprehensible and easy to navigate National Trust houses in England. Absolutely fascinating to learn more about English history; Disraeli, wartime mapping, and secrecy. Knowledgeable staff who like what they are doing. We visited on a glorious sunny weekday afternoon. A light lunch to start, nothing really special, served quickly and efficiently. The house is very well presented and the gardens are a delight to walk around and sit and admire while reclining in a deck chair.

Lovely building with a fascinating story. Loved all of the information on the production of the maps during WW2, especially interesting that they are still finding out about people who were there during that time. Cafe has plenty of seating with the usual menu of quality fare. The gardens are gorgeous and extensive.

National Trust - Cliveden offers luxurious accommodations in the form of plush rooms, suites, and cottages set on a lavish estate. The estate features various walking trails suitable for all ages and abilities, including family-friendly routes and more challenging paths with stunning views over the Thames. Visitors can tailor their walks to explore formal gardens, tree-lined avenues, or riverside woodland. Additionally, there are opportunities to tour the grand house on selected days and enjoy activities such as visiting the play den and maze.
Day trip to Cliveden to visit the gardens and enjoy a long walk through the woods and by the Thames with a friend. Saw lots of nature - red kites, deer, goslings, ducklings and a cormorant. Had a lovely rhubarb and rosemary scone at the Conservatory Cafe and loved the water gardens. Spent the whole day and still didn’t manage to see everything. The house wasn’t open to the public when we visited as it’s a hotel - would recommend checking National Trust website before visiting if you want to go inside. It’s very hilly climbing back to the house from the riverside but worth it for all the views.

Used our voucher from the paper so free entry! Helpful map so had a good walk around all the gardens. Walked down and along The Thames- beautiful. Several places for a coffee, cake or lunch. Watch out for Red Kites- they target picnic areas! Second hand book shop too! Lovely day.

A fantastic day out at Cliveden! We had a wonderful family day out at National Trust's Cliveden. It was a perfect escape from London. We loved strolling through the grounds, which provided much-needed shade on a hot day. The views were stunning, and the kids were delighted with their ice creams. A quick tip for visitors: Be sure to look for the insider car park to avoid a long walk to the main house. We also wished we had known about the boat rides in advance, so be sure to check that out if you visit! Highly recommend for a family day trip. The estate is stunning, we especially appreciated the beautiful, shady walking paths that made our strolls incredibly relaxing. We found a great spot for our packed lunch, which was a nice way to save a bit of money and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The views across the grounds were truly magnificent. The kids absolutely loved their ice creams, and I enjoyed a well-deserved coffee break.

What a wonderful state in England! One of the most beautiful places I've been to of its kind. It's not far away from London, but it's easily connected to motorways. During the spring and summer, it is a great park to walk through gardens and forest, so bring your sunblock, hat and comfortable shoes. I cannot imagine it during the winter but maybe that's also a wonderful experience. If you can, book your tickets in advance and arrive early in the morning, because it is a popular spot and the park lot is limited. You can bring your trolleys (if you need). It has many accessible ways. It's dog friendly, but it's your responsibility to keep the place clean. Bring as well your banquet with food and drinks to picnic, if you cannot, don't worry! You can buy them here. Please! Please! Please! 1. Take your rubbish with you. Shame on those who leave their mess. 2. Respect the queue line entering with your car. Yes, everybody wants to enjoy the day ASAP, but good manners are really appreciated living in a community.

Well-worth the annual national trust membership price if you are a local resident. Beautiful gardens to explore and spacious picnic areas for small to large groups. There is also a coffee shop near the car park and a bigger cafe/restaurant close to the main house. There’s a good size children’s play area and there are also frequent children oriented events during the year which the our young child loves. Don’t forget to walk down to the river and have a boat trip in the summer months!

Buckingham Old Gaol Museum offers a unique experience, allowing visitors to delve into the history of Buckingham and rural life while exploring an 18th-century prison. The museum is also home to the Buckinghamshire County Museum, where guests can immerse themselves in artwork, wildlife, and archaeology. Families with children will enjoy the Roald Dahl Children's Gallery within the museum. The medieval marvel of Buckingham Chantry Chapel, the oldest building in town, stands as a testament to time.
built in 1748, originally served as a prison and was funded by Richard Grenville Temple, Lord Viscount of Cobham. Its construction, with crenellations and arrow-slits, was intended to resemble a castle, reflecting Buckingham's ambition to regain its status as the county town and host the Summer Assizes. In the museum they have, The Buckingham half-angel coin which is a rare gold coin from the reign of Richard III, minted between 1483 and 1485. It's one of only seven known examples and is notable for being the only one on public display. The coin was discovered near Buckingham by a metal detectorist and is now housed at the Buckingham Old Gaol Museum. Only a small museum, but for £5 we thought it was great.

The Old Gaol is located right in the middle of Buckingham. There is a nearby car park which is cheap to park in. I believe this is the only museum here in Buckingham. Stairs involved. No disabled access. The Old Gaol combines a museum about Buckingham. You can enter several of the gaol cells which now has exhibits. There is information about The Salvation Army and a room dedicated to Flora Thompson, both on the ground floor. Toilet facilities available in the basement. This is a small attraction and shouldn't take you more than 45 mins to look around. Also opposite the front reception is town information office.

I went on a 20kms day hike around this place with a group of friends. The elevation was about 400 m which is pretty good for a hill! Heard a lot of ghost stories on the way which was pretty cool too! There are a lot of places around where you can park your car for free all day. The Chiltern Hills is also connected to the Colne Valley Regional Park to the south. One of the most famous features of the Chilterns is its woodlands, which cover approximately a fifth of the park. The woodlands are composed mainly of beech, as well as cherry, ash, and oak. The woods have been a staple of the Chiltern Hills for centuries and are still among England's densest and largest remaining forests. As one of England's most heavily wooded areas, the Chiltern Hills AONB is an essential habitat for a range of mammals, birds, and insects. Perhaps the most famous resident of the Chilterns is the red kite, a large bird of prey with a 1.5 m wingspan 🦅. We saw a lot of these on the way.

Nestled in the picturesque countryside of Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, Cliveden House is a luxurious hotel housed in a stunning 17th-century mansion. Following an extensive restoration, this elegant property now offers opulent accommodations, including suites and bedrooms that exude English charm. Guests can indulge in the hotel's upscale amenities such as a lavish spa, outdoor pool, and fine dining options.
Went to see Cliveden as part of the #national trust but got there at the wrong time. It is only open to the public national trust members/visitors between 11 and 1. Met the most amazing gentleman who told me I couldn’t enter unless staying in the hotel, using the restaurant or staying for afternoon tea. Did get the chance to have tea though, absolutely stunning setting with so much class. I’ll time in better next time. The grounds were amazing, but vast. Enjoyed the talk on the patio for a little bit. Enjoyed the maze and waterfalls. It is a beautiful park.

We visited for afternoon tea, and everything was perfect from start to finish. The setting was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the service was exceptional. A special mention to Jerry, who was incredibly friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to make our visit memorable. His warmth and professionalism truly elevated the experience. Highly recommend Cliveden House for anyone looking to enjoy a refined and relaxing afternoon — we’ll definitely be back! ☕🍰✨

Very difficult not to like the Cliveden House. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. The room (Prince Albert), albeit small, felt cosy and luxurious, with all the necessary appliances and complimentary snacks. I suggest it for anyone in question of a lovely view, and more particularly, in need of catching a glimpse of the wonderful outdoor swimming pool. The spa area is highly enjoyable, and I particularly liked that the shop offers a nice variety of products for realistic prices. The breakfast was truly sensational with a breathtaking view. Overall, the quality of the food was great. Although the à la carte menu for room service was perhaps a bit pricey for the quality level (more specifically, the size of the meals). But again, it’s hard not to expect this being the case in a hotel like the Cliveden House. I would absolutely love to come back.

We visited Cliveden House as a family to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Being local, it felt like the perfect choice for a special occasion, a five-star experience in beautiful surroundings. Unfortunately, the visit didn’t quite meet expectations. We were seated in what can only be described as the foyer, directly by the main entrance, with guests constantly passing through. It felt far from the elegant, serene setting we had imagined, and disappointing given Cliveden’s reputation and stunning grounds. A view of the gardens or a more private room would have made the experience far more memorable. Service was polite but not particularly attentive, we were left waiting for plates to be cleared. The food itself was of good quality, and our daughter’s gluten-free requirements were well managed, which we appreciated. What was most disappointing, however, was the lack of response after I shared this feedback directly with Cliveden House. For a hotel of its standing, a simple acknowledgement or reassurance that they value guest feedback would have gone a long way. A beautiful setting with potential for a truly special experience, but sadly, it fell short on both atmosphere and attentiveness.

This is a beautiful mansion just 22 miles outside of London. The drive to the hotel is amazing and the rooms, restaurants, and spa are well appointed as well. Definitely worth a visit and stay if one is in the area. Overall, our experience here was good.

Love this place. The long walk was impressive and autumnal trees and greenery very beautiful. Did not go into the hotel/restaurant. There is a lovely conservatory beside the house where you can shelter from inclement weather and gorge on cake or savoury food items

The afternoon tea is very standard, i’ve put down in the reservations and mentioned when i arrived that it was my grandma’s birthday but nothing was done about it. For the beautiful surroundings and the price you pay, the food could be brought up a notch which will make the overall experience a lot better!

Oddly can't seem to find my review from last December... I would not recommend staying here at all, the hotel prioritises getting as much money from a cheap afternoon tea turn around rather than guests who are paying over £1,000 a night to stay. We were met in the 'grand entrance' to a clothes rail, and a reception room rammed full of people having afternoon tea loudly. The hotel guests had a small bar with bad, slow service. Dinner wasn't up to scratch either. I would certainly not recommend Cliveden House to anyone, it felt like a cattle market.

Nestled in the heart of Milton Keynes, Xscape is a vibrant leisure and entertainment hub that promises an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages. This expansive complex features an impressive array of indoor activities, including a real snow slope perfect for skiing and snowboarding at Snozone, thrilling skydiving experiences at iFLY, and exhilarating climbing walls. Families can also enjoy a fun-filled day with options like bowling and catching the latest films at Cineworld Cinema.
Snozone is the indoor snow slopes that offer skiing and snowboarding activities. There are other child friendly activities such as sledging. They offer private and group lessons and on Thursday and Fridays they set up a terrain park for skiers and snowboarders. The Alpine Kitchen offers a selection of food and drinks, including a bar! However, the food quality although a little on the pricey side is good quality. Parking is pay by mobile but is free if you take out a Snozone membership, which also offers a selection of good discounts on lift passes and food and drink in the Alpine Kitchen. It does get busy so is best to book in advance as people travel from miles away to use the slopes.

Great ski coaches who seem very experienced. Shame the cafe staff while you wait always have an attitude and sulk if you order from the counter and not at the tables...

Xscape Milton Keynes is always a fun place to visit. There’s loads going on, whether you’re there for the cinema, a bit of shopping, or to grab some food. I really like how lively it feels, especially in the evenings. Parking can be a bit of a hassle depending on the time of day when it’s busy, but once you’re inside there’s plenty to do and it’s always a good time.

Nestled within a serene woodland setting, the Boarstall Duck Decoy is a remarkable National Trust site that showcases a 16th-century invention designed for capturing waterfowl. This rare and functioning decoy from the 17th century features an ingenious system involving a lake, a decoy man, and an expertly trained dog. Visitors can enjoy regular demonstrations of this fascinating technique in action. The picturesque surroundings offer delightful nature reserve walks where you can immerse yourself in the tranquil beauty of the area.
Really loved it here. Fascinated by the duck decoy ~ no idea what it was about before going here. Guide really friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Now know what it's all about. Such a clever way to capture the ducks 🦆 (although not very humane for the ducks 🙁) Great little walk around the site with clearly labelled points to look out for. Good carparking. Would definitely recommend a visit. Why not also go to the Borstal National Trust tower which is only open for a few times a year while you are here. It's really great for the National Trust to own and manage these types of property as well as the stately homes. So interesting!

Intriguing Duck Decoy with interesting display about Decoys in nearby hut. Wonderful ancient woodland with easy walking, picnic benches and bird hide overlooking the lake. A super site to visit: good paths for all ages, great for children and dogs. Thoroughly recommended.
Richard A — Google review
The information hut was closed when I was there and there were no signs that gave information on the duck decoys. There was still a nice wooded area and small lake to explore, a bird watching hide, and den building area.
Drew S — Google review
Really pretty in spring. Ron was really friendly and helpful. Nice place for young children as not to far to walk. Lots of nature to see/explore.
David H — Google review
Such a beautiful quiet place to explore. We spent a lovely afternoon here, listening to the birds and enjoying the beautiful scenery in the sunshine. Our children loved building wooden dens and exploring while following the Easter trail. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. It wasn't our first visit and it won't be our last.
Kirsty H — Google review
Could be a real gem but work clearing weeds and dead wood would help. Lovely wild bluebells and primroses.
Julie E — Google review
Entrance fees for non-NT members were £5 adult and £2.50 child in 04/2019. Nice short walk with number of rests for birdwatching. The path was well taken care of. If you are a first-time visitor, do get the short guided tour before the walk. Toilets are at the ticket office. Dogs are allowed. Children need to be well looked after, there are unprotected places to fall in the water along the path.
Magdalena E — Google review
Lovely national trust sight. Can't believe I've never visited before. Lovely woodland with lots to entertain children. The bluebells were out when we went and it was beautiful. Only has a small building to buy tickets and has toilets but there are places you can sit and have a picnic.
