Wakatobi National Park, situated in Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia, is a breathtaking destination for marine enthusiasts. The park boasts crystal-clear turquoise waters and vibrant coral reefs that provide excellent opportunities for snorkeling and diving. Visitors can marvel at the diverse marine life including turtles, dolphins, whale sharks, and manta rays. The park's rich biodiversity makes it a popular spot for underwater tourism.
I had a unforgettable experience for staying there for 50 days in purpose of community service. the local people is very nice and humble, many culture you can experience and learn. Wakatobi is a great and beautiful place to visit at least once a lifetime. You can play on clear white sand beach, snorkeling and diving between amazing underwater reefs, enjoys local food, local culture, etc. Each island is a hidden paradise to explore and the best way to enjoy is you have to accompanied by local guide to reach even the most unreachable place.
Vina H — Google review
A stunning diving destination. No sunscreen or insect repellant available on Tomea. People are warm & friendly. The islands are stunning. They have an issue with plastic pollution. I hope the government & locals look into alternative solutions to single use plastics on the islands.
Pauline C — Google review
This is a place where you would want to come back and come back again. Well known and promoted for its underwater tourism, Wakatobi National Park indeed has an amazing biodiversity, almost unlike anywhere else you've probably been. Just a few meters from the shore you can enjoy colorful corals and fish in various depth. For amateurs in diving, cheer up because here, even only snorkeling will cause you an inevitable joy! Moreover, Wakatobi offers another cool things: the land tourism, rich of heritage and history. You may consider visiting one of the villages, Mola, a village particularly lived by Bajo (the used-to-be sea gypsies and now are still living on the (half-reclamated) sea) and explore culture tourism they are developing. Have the experience of "Dolphin Watching Tour" with local fishers at dawn, learning a lot about the so-called fishers' keepers from the guide. Followed by a "Walking Tour" around the village to see the making of their traditional boats, souvenirs, traditional swimming glasses, traditional foods, as well as activities in the traditional market where you can see some people actually go shopping on boats through canals, and fishers who just got back from their sail, stock up the vendors with fresh seafood. If you are lucky, you can watch how locals conduct their mystical ceremonies for sick people in which they also perform traditional dances. See it for yourself how fishers work in the "Canoeing Tour": how they cultivate lobsters and other kind of fish. Learn the process and try fishing there, too! You will also see how tuna is being processed, the grades and market targets of each grade. Late at night, find yourself lost under the sky full of stars while listening to local guides explaining myths and traditional navigation and weather forecast using stars in "Star Gazing Tour". Find yourself amused and amazed as they introduce you to various key stars while looking at them through a pair of binoculars and stars map they provide. In between of those tours, keep your tummy happy by tasting the hearty local foods from appetizer to dessert, cooked by a group of women who's been learning the skill since they were just school girls. Interact with locals. See mothers with special powder on their face feeding babies, little kids row their boats to the bridge to go to schools while free-falling to the sea from their houses or the edges of canals, swim and free-dive as easily as we use our feet to walk, spending the rest of afternoon catching Tetehes (sea urchins), sea cucumbers, or scallops at low tide in the neighborhood, as a constant rhythm in their childhood. Go there empty-hearted, go home rich.
Amnina K — Google review
A place where you would want to come back and come back again. It is precisely the nickname "Heaven under the Sea", but on land, Facilities and Infrastructure is still limited, ranging from Aviation, Hotels and transportation. The underwater scenery is very beautiful and the people are friendly

Its for the first time I visit Wakatobi. I stay in the Wisata Hotel and visit Huma La kapala. Huma means a house that builds for Fisher in the middle of ocean. I enjoying the meal and waiting for the sunset. I'll stay in Wakatobi for 4 days and I hope I can get some wonderful experiences here. It's an honor to be here.
Desi S — Google review
It is difficult to get there and to get around when there. Spectacular sceneries, a lot of mosquitos, some snakes and unfortunately a lot of plastic waste. All in all worth it, I would recommend it. Tourism initiatives should be coordinated to minimise the ecological impact and the local communities should be educated with regards to the management of the environment, to keep this paradise as it is.
A_Diver — Google review
Warm atmosphere, great diving place and snorkeling, cycling, swimming in the water cave, beaches, enjoying sun-sets, fort, nice local food, minimalist accommodations, great peoples. Typically a perfect place to escape and chill out.
Adie V — Google review
We didn't make it as far as the national park proper, but we stayed in the main village on Wangi Wangi Island. The snorkelling is amazing, thanks to the still-unspoiled-by-tourism reef. We stayed with a family there, so we got to see the real culture of Wakatobi. A bonus was that they live 100m from Goa Kontamale Wanci, an open cave with an inlet from the sea. The local market is lively and probably the cleanest of its kind I've ever seen in Indonesia.

Pulisan Beach, located near Bunaken Island in East Likupang, is a hidden gem that promises an unforgettable experience for beach lovers and adventure seekers alike. Stretching about 500 meters and framed by towering cliffs, this picturesque spot offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. While the journey to reach Pulisan Beach may be bumpy, the stunning views make it all worthwhile.
Pay is only 50,000 to 100,000 rupiahs per cottage. Pisang goreng is around 20,000 to 25,000. Shore is without corals, but probably about 20 meters away from shore, you'll see them. I also saw one coral snake here but wasn't able to take a photo. Was too scared so I tried to swim away from it as fast as I could.
Esobel J — Google review
a beautiful serene beach for snorkeling, you should take a boat for about 100k 150k rupiah per boat to go to snorkeling spot called ‘virgin beach’ and askes the boatman to pick up whenever you want to go back
Ismurtyanto N — Google review
If you're looking for a budget friendly beach in Likupang with affordable homestays. Pulisan beach would probably suit your taste. A lot of activities to do like beach hopping, hiking, canoeing, and banana boat. If you're a beginner diver/snorkeler/freediver this is a good place to build your confidence. The beach can be a bit crowded during the weekends and tend to be an extreme opposite during the weekdays.
Maui F — Google review
✔I Ordered some tickets to go inside this beach, i forgot the price, but as i remember its so cheap👌 Better you go this beach in the early morning maybe 6-7am. Still become your private beach💕 therr's no people, heheh... You can rent a boat to go another private island, per person 20k rupiah (pp). The island so beautiful and you can climb the mountain also👌 ✔The atmosphere was beautiful... but for the sands, better paal beach, than Pulisan beach. ✔The service was pretty good, lots of local people who run the bussiness in here.

Tanjung Bira Beach is a picturesque destination with its white-sand beach and cape, offering various activities such as swimming, sunbathing, and water sports. The beach is renowned for its impressive diving opportunities, boasting prolific marine life and some of the best diving spots in the world. It's suitable for both beginners and experienced divers due to the shallow coral reefs and weak currents with exceptional visibility. While the beach offers a wonderful experience, visitors should be mindful of keeping it clean.
Tanjung Bira beach still needs attention in terms of comfort, cleanliness and orderliness of traders around the beach
Fini N — Google review
gorgeous beach but just so sad about the amount of waste on the beach. sharp glass and plastic bottles hidden in the sand - please be aware of your footing. i am not sure what the 55K tourist fee is for per person but there doesn’t appear to be much of an effort to use this money to benefit the environment.

Cool place for leaisure and outbond. We got chance to held capacity building here, and its kinda worth the 5 hours tiring travel.
Khairul U — Google review
My visit to tanjung bira is amazing, I recommend going to the beach in the morning or afternoon because the sun is unbearable. Prepare sunscreen, extra money for shower, and don't forget to support local craft that was sold in the beach area. If you want you can rent a boat to cross the beach and head to an island surrounding the beach or even rent a banana boat. The beach has some sharp dead corals so watch your step but other than that it was amazing, also there are a lot of houses and even hotels for you to stay in the beach, the sunset and sunrise in so beautiful here.
Agastya R — Google review
Wonderful beach with clean water, white and smooth sands and amazing view. This is definitely perfect place spending your holiday. Will give 5 star but rubbish still everywhere so should be better if visitor look after this place. And access to go to this beach is not really good so hopefully government will fix the road so it is easy for visitor to come. Oh and there are plenty local shop here so don’t worry about being starving 😉😉
Jejak M — Google review
White and smooth sand, great views and calm waves. The entrance fee is quite affordable for adults 15 thousand, children 5 thousand, cars 10 thousand. In Tanjung Bara, add 20 thousand parking. Ordinary public facilities, maybe because of the pandemic period it was still quiet.
Paul S — Google review
The sand was well kneaded like flour. You can only take bath 10 meter far because the rock was very closed. Nice view sunset. Local come here every weekend to relax. But foreigner have to pay 40k entrance fee of tourist place. I've never experience anywhere they charge for natural beach. And I'm not happy when the guy explain because here is Indonesia. Hm...He could explain for enviroment protection or any reservation, we're willing to pay.But I do not agree that is nice way to atract tourist. And the day we left, taxi driver bring us to senseless arguing which bring us more distance with Bira. Please be careful with this blue taxi in the picture below. He raised price from 80k to 100k with reason there is no more customers at the last bench. ( normally, space is for 3 people, that day only 2 of us ). Catch customers is his task, not our task. Why we have to be responsible !! In additional, the previous night, we didn't get any feedback from him when we booked via one guy from Bamboo Warung. We thought the price is fixed. How could we understand for that situation happened suddenly?!! And when we didn't agree, he bring our luggages back on the ground. The most unpleasure thing is HE TOOK THE METAL CAR PREPARED TOY AND ALMOST READY TO HIT MY PARTNER. I do not support for any potential violent.

Best service and food that I have had at a diving resort. The deserts are to die for. Diving and snorkeling is great. Kris is a very good dive guide, spots all the small animals that are out there, and he is funny too. They take care that the turtle eggs can hatch without being disturbed. Awesome place. Fort Rotterdam Makassar is a 17th-century Dutch fort located in Sulawesi, Indonesia. It was built on top of an existing fort constructed by the Gowa Kingdom to counter Dutch encroachments. The Dutch completely rebuilt it between 1673 and 1679 with six bastions surrounded by a seven-meter-high rampart and a two-meter-deep moat. Shaped after a sea turtle, this historical landmark now houses exhibits that showcase Indonesian history.
Fort Rotterdam in Makassar is a fascinating historical site with rich cultural significance, offering visitors a look into Indonesia's colonial past. The fort houses a variety of exhibits that showcase the region's history, including artifacts from the Dutch era. However, the cleanliness of the collection and the surrounding areas could be improved to enhance the overall experience. Additionally, having a tour guide available would greatly enrich the visit, providing deeper insights and context to the historical displays. With better maintenance and guided tours, Fort Rotterdam could become an even more engaging and informative destination for history enthusiasts.
Yustika M — Google review
My First Time at Fort Rotterdam My first visit to Fort Rotterdam was really cool. As soon as I got there, I was impressed by how unique the place looked. The old Dutch-style buildings with their red roofs and thick walls really gave off a historical vibe. It felt like stepping back in time. I walked around the fort, checked out the buildings, and just enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. The palm trees and the green grass made the place feel calm and relaxing. It was interesting to imagine what life was like here in the past. Overall, I had a great time. Fort Rotterdam is a nice spot to chill, take photos, and learn a bit of history. I’d definitely recommend it if you're ever in Makassar!
Muhamad F — Google review
(05/2025) A small, well-kept fort with very friendly staff. Entry to the fort is free; the museum costs 10,000. We happened to visit during a cultural event and met lots of lovely people (shout-out to the best security team — Flobamora Bodyguard!).
World Z — Google review
Fort Rotterdam is one of Makassar’s most iconic historical landmarks—a well-preserved 17th-century Dutch fort that also bears the legacy of the once-mighty Gowa Sultanate. Rich in cultural significance, the site offers a fascinating glimpse into colonial-era architecture, Indonesian resistance history, and the unique blend of Dutch and Makassar heritage.
Edbert J — Google review
If you are visiting Makassar, the “Gateway to East Indonesia”, you need to appreciate the cities history. Come visit this old Dutch fort, admire its architecture, take in the significance of its place in Dutch Colonial history. The fort itself is well preserved and the grounds are beautiful. A must visit!

Fort Rotterdam is a 17th century fort in Makassar, it is a Dutch fort that was built on top of an existing fort of the Gowa Kingdom The ticket is free and there's a local guide here and I was offered for 150.000 IDR (I didn't take it) There's a museum inside the fort, the fee is cheap only 5.000 IDR for adult, you can see and learn the journey of Gowa Kingdom and its collection You also can explore the other side of the fort
Aditya P — Google review
Nice historical place to see and imagine how it looks like in it's glorious past. Unfortunately that's it, you have to leave everything to imagination because the place is run down and lacking in maintenance. You may walk around the compound free but you buy a ticket 10kRP for entry to their 'museum' which is sadly non-AC and sad looking. There are 3rd party guides available for hire at the entrance and that might help understand more about it's history. I paid for the museum because I'm hoping they'll use the funds for the much needed upkeep.
Benjamin L — Google review
This place is undoubtedly beautiful, it has potential. It needs better management. Most of the buildings can't be entered. Museum exhibits are poorly presented (Most of them have no proper lighting or no lighting at all). It needs more English signs and map. Some exhibits have English. Lots of areas are used for other purposes (I think there are people living there as i see clothing lines). Lot's of building materials scattered in the Premysis. I even found old sofas stacked on the second floor of a building C. I hope the government will fix it, so i will be able to change the rating. Maybe try to learn from Vredeburg Museum in Yogyakarta

Bantimurung Bulusaraung National Park is a stunning destination featuring karst mountains, Prehistoric and Butterfly Caves, and the unique Bantimurung waterfall. The waterfall, with its slightly sloping 15-20 meter drop, offers picturesque photo opportunities. Known as the 'kingdom of butterflies,' the park is home to diverse butterfly species. Visitors can explore stone caves and enjoy family-friendly activities.
Bantimurung National Park is famously known as the paradise of butterflies. Here, you can find a variety of uniquely shaped butterflies that are rarely seen anywhere else. But is it only about butterflies? Absolutely not! If you're a fan of caves, this place also boasts two stunning caves—Dream Cave and Stone Cave. To explore these hidden gems, you can rent a lamp from the locals stationed at the entrance, and pay a tip for a tour guide based on your own discretion. Adventure awaits—come and explore!

I visited the BantimuruNg Waterfall which had easy access from the main road. The entrance fee is IDR30k for locals and 200k for foreigners. The area itself had various trek and spots to take pictures and marvel at the beauty of the waterfall. They also had a kayak rent, cave sightings, and butterfly museum (which was closed when I visited). You can swim freely in the area as plenty of family do that and bring your own food for a picnic inside. However, the management of the place was quite bad and many infrastructure had been decayed and dirty. If you just walk along the trek and path, it's still beautiful. Beware, there are plenty of tour guides offering their service to you. There are also freelance photographer inside that use their DSLR to take pictures od you (without your consent) and offer to transfer it to your smartphone for IDR 5k per picture. There are also some locals that demanded to give them some money because they helped to clean and maintain the place.

This waterfall is very beautiful and a must-see. It gets very crowded on weekends. People gather from all over the area to play and swim there. It has very beautiful nature, with high mountains and mountains full of trees. And it's still not far from Makassar, it's very close, and wherever you go, the ticket is also convenient. And also You can take food with you or order food there.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It was a good concept but like typical place in Indonesia, it was lack of maintenance and not clean. Good for locals to do picnic. A very good and beautiful nature that needs more love not just being abuzed to produce money for certain individuals. It's ok to visit but not a must.

Stunning Scenery The park's scenery is breathtaking, with lush green forests, towering limestone cliffs, and picturesque waterfalls. The Karst landscape is unique and fascinating, with its distinctive rock formations and caves. Diverse Wildlife Bantimurung Bulusaraung is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including butterflies, birds, and monkeys. I was thrilled to spot some rare species, including the Tarsier and the Macaque. Exciting Activities The park offers a range of exciting activities, including hiking, rock climbing, and caving. I opted for a guided hike, which took me through the forest and offered stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Overall, my visit to Bantimurung Bulusaraung National Park was an unforgettable experience. The park's stunning scenery, diverse wildlife, and exciting activities make it a must-visit destination for anyone interested in nature and adventure. I highly recommend it! Rating: 5/5

This is a great place and easily becomes nice instagrammable spots to take pictures of the waterfall, creeks and ponds. It takes around an hour drive from Makassar to reach the area. I have no idea but I don't see too many butterflies as this place is called "kingdom of butterflies" during my visit. If you take the path around the small hill, you would reach a stone cave where you could explore it if that's your things. But when the guide there told me that there's actually another small pond that'd been closed to the visitors due to some accidents involved, where the scenery is even better. Well, we managed to persuade the guide to take us there after a strict promise that we won't take a dip or swim inside the pond. After some steep walks, we managed to reach the spot and yes, it was indeed worth seeing. My only negative rating of this tourist area is that it is currently not well maintained. While it should be a great tourist attraction, I saw collapsed concrete railings on the path to the cave and other maintenance needs to be conducted to make this place better.

so genuine..so freshhhh..sooo originaalll...!!!! even the tour guide said all that not allowed to give food to the wild monkeys and/or wild boar inside the forest in order not to break the ecosystem and not to break their body chemicals, so let the wild keep eating something wild and natural also from the forest..and we as the visitors have to be discipline for that rules in order to keep them on track as well😎👍🙌💪🔥🥰 however..as usual other tourism places..somehow its not well maintained hiks..while it is truly such a legacyyyyy for our country🥺🙏 anyway i also attach the video courtessy of my lil sis how gorgeous the bantimurung lake with so many butterflies!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰🙌🙌👍🙌

Paal Beach, located around an hour from Manado in Marinsow Village, is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. The beach boasts a stunning stretch of pink-gold sand and clear blue waters, making it a favorite spot for families on weekends. Visitors can enjoy boating, reef swimming, and indulging in local snacks from the nearby stalls. The area also offers amenities such as changing rooms and toilets that are kept clean.
💙 11 out of 10 🩵 A highly recommended natural tourist destination in North Sulawesi!🙌🏻 No wonder it's one of Indonesia's five super-priority destinations. The beach is absolutely beautiful: the ocean is a stunning blue, and the sand is soft and white. It's very clean and peaceful 🏖️ There were only four other visitors when I visited, and none of us sat or ate in the local restaurant because the prices were far too high! It costs 50,000 rupiahs just to sit there, excluding food and beverages 😩💰 However, there are decent washing and changing rooms with clean water, though you have to pay 5,000 rupiahs for each bucket 💧

Good beach. I think they need to develop the surroundings. Pay someone to clean it up every day, build some basic and clean infrastructure like toilets and showers. Tourists will not come back if it's not hygienic. Especially foreigners. Also build some basic cafes and restaurants. Then make people pay a small fee to access the whole lot. I'm sure they won't mind if the place has good facilities. I won't. Then in a few years it might get more crowded. Hopefully the authorities will be able to handle the crowds by investing in the area properly. Make it nice, please. Don't ruin it. 💜 PS: don't pet the dogs. They might carry rabies. I totally forgot about that.

I recommend you to come here on weekdays cause it should not packed like weekend. Enjoy the serene vibes of the ocean's wave and blue skies.

We got there early at around 6:30 am, and there was nobody there. We got the beach to ourselves! The entrance is good enough, quite clean though there are bits of trash. You'll have to pay for a table with lounge. There's a public toilet that you'll have to pay, even for washing/ showering. Recommended for sunrise.
Puspa C — Google review
The almost-4-hour journey was worth it! The beach was natural and clean. The locals was friendly and helpful. The nearby changing room / toilet was appropriately clean, and the fees was reasonably cheap. We paid 40k for the entrance ticket (one car, passengers not counted), 150k for a booth and benches + umbrella to sit on the beach for the whole day (the booth was big), and 5k per person to use a shower. The snacks offered was cheap as well. However, it will get very crowded on holidays after 12 p.m. If possible, come earlier. A local said that the door is already opened at 6 a.m. (not tested, I arrived at around 10).

Beach with huge tourism potential. The white sand is soft, water is clear. Having a nice little “forest” feature. A little bit hard to reach this beach because the road haven’t been covered with asphalt yet, but it offers a good adventurous trail

🏖Georgeous Beach👏 I forgot the enterence fee, but its reasonable price👌 No worry... ✔I ordered a place to sit for about 50k rupiah, it can be used for 5-6 person, if you want to take a bath you must pay 5k rupiah. ✔The atmosphere was great, full recharge of vitamin Sea💕 The blue crystal water was amazing, the sand was white and smooth like a flour🤩 ✔The service pretty good👌

Nirwana Beach is a popular destination known for its expansive sandy shoreline, shallow turquoise waters, and breathtaking sunset vistas. It offers a captivating panorama that captivates visitors. The beach provides ample opportunities for exploration, including engaging in activities such as banana boat rides and swimming in the crystal-clear waters. While the water may not be deep, it is advisable to keep a watchful eye on children. It's essential not to miss the splendid sunset at this locale.
Nirwana Beach offers mesmerizing view. There are many things that you can explore. There's banana boat too. You can swim with a very crystal clear water and the beach is clean. You can bring kids because It's not a deep water but still you need to keep eye om your kids. DON’T MISS the SUNSET!!!!!!!! There are so shops that support your visit here if you don't bring food or drink. There are toilets too around the beach. I see people diving so there's must be nice spot for diving too. Some woman offers corn, peanut, and other snacks. You can rent a gazebo too.

Takapala Waterfall is a stunning natural wonder, standing at 109 meters high and boasting a powerful flow of water that increases during the rainy season. The cascading water creates a mesmerizing spectacle as it crashes onto large rocks below, producing a thunderous roar and a fine mist that extends up to 20 meters. Just a short walk from the parking area leads visitors to this majestic sight, surrounded by beautiful rocks and offering numerous photo opportunities.
Just 3 mins walking from parking area and tadaaa. The waterfall is tall, you'd better get prepared to be wet, I love the beautiful rocks around the waterfall. There are many photo spots, you may even going down to the river. I hope visitors keep the place clean and throw the garbage later when you are back to the parking area, not to the waterfall area. Parking fee 5k for motorcycle, entrance fee 5k per person

It's a v v beautiful waterfalls. Very tall around 100 meters drop. Cars and mini van can go to the base of the hill. It gets crowded and sometimes it's better to park car and walk for around 500 meters. We went few days before Lebaran and had the whole place for us 😊 Lot of places to take nice pics. There are also lot of warungs for food, coffee and cold drinks. Make sure you carry a towel and pair of clothes.

Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, located in Maros Regency, is a regional hub offering flights to and from Sulawesi island. It serves as an important airline hub with many Indonesian airlines flying from major cities like Jakarta, Surabaya, and Bali. The airport has undergone renovations and boasts 8 gates including 4 domestic and international gates. There are various fashion and culinary outlets available for passengers. Currently undergoing development, the airport aims to become a prominent hub for eastern Indonesia.
New airport (still in construction some parts) and looks very good. Modern scanners at the security with no queues. Harissa - fried duck restaurant with super fast service and amazing food!

The new expanded airport feels much better and the tenant are getting diverse. However trolleys are left astray everywhere and the staff are to lazy to sort and return them This desserve more stars but the pickup area are filled with standby taxi instead area for regular pickup. They need to plan pick up and sorting area carefully cuz not everyone picked up by taxi. This is poor user design!
Andi R — Google review
I’ve used this airport several times, either for transit to Ambon, Manokwari, or for trips to Makassar. Transiting at midnight doesn’t feel quiet since there are many flights at that time. The waiting areas are spacious, plentiful, and clean. Currently, some parts are under renovation. Hopefully, the service will improve in the future.
IWA S — Google review
The new wing of UPG Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport is so much more spacious and squeaky clean. Beautiful shiny floor and super high ceilings. It is a vast improvement from the old terminal building. The international arrival hall, however, is still the same as when I last visited 2024. The Departure Hall is where the big changes have taken place. Two thumbs up! I am happy to see many retail outlets have opened. Travellers like choices when they are in airports. Hopefully, when I visit Makassar again, the new arrival hall will be ready by then.
Nazif J — Google review
I recently visited Hasanuddin Airport and was quite disappointed with several aspects of the facility and service quality. While the airport has potential, the management seems to be neglecting many basic standards that affect passenger comfort and safety. ⚡ Facilities & Maintenance • There were several sudden power outages during my time there, which disrupted both passengers and airport operations. • The musholla (prayer room) was dirty, the air conditioner wasn’t working, and the space felt poorly maintained. • The airport has been under renovation since last year, but the progress seems extremely slow — many areas still look unfinished. • There are multiple leaks in the ceiling during rain, yet no warning signs (“Caution: Wet Floor”) were placed to prevent people from slipping. ⸻ 🗺️ Navigation & Information • There are no clear maps or signs showing where tenants, toilets, or prayer rooms are located. For first-time visitors, it’s very confusing to find basic facilities. ⸻ 👥 Staff & Service Quality • Many staff members were not friendly and often used local dialects, which made it difficult for visitors from outside the region to communicate. • I also encountered a toilet attendant who was coughing heavily without wearing a mask. She was also complaining loudly about the broken sink and lack of water. This is highly unprofessional and unhygienic for an international airport. ⸻ ✈️ Passenger Handling • When a passenger had a tight boarding schedule, the staff didn’t provide any assistance or prioritization. Instead, they only said, “Just try to go to the gate if it’s not closed yet.” This shows a lack of empathy and poor service attitude toward passengers in urgent situations.
Efrita W — Google review
Big and spacious airport, maybe too big for its passengers so it looks quiet. Good design, clean, and clear information board. Still work in progress, as all of airport in Indonesia.
Bayu S — Google review
Sultan Hasanuddin international Airport feels special—it’s the place where my husband returns to his hometown. Simple, welcoming, and always full of meaning. ✈️❤️
Rurray A — Google review
Aggressive drivers at the arrival terminal made me feel quite unsafe, they followed me even after I said no and even blurted out borderline offensive words. Not a great experience, especially as a woman traveling alone. The new extended building looks nice, but if your plane arrives at certain gates, be prepared for a very long walk all the way to the other side just to reach baggage claim and exit. The check-in counter area, however, is much better now: it’s spacious, brighter, and more organized than before. Overall, the airport has improved visually, but the guest experience still needs attention, especially regarding the long walking distances and the lack of control over aggressive drivers outside the terminal.

Despite it's flaws it's truly a paradise. Friendly staff, comfy rooms, amazing swimming pool and spa, amazing snorkeling on North side. Main improvement point is the quality and availability of food (they dont have much in stock), as well as the slow speed of food service.

Lousy hotel for the following reasons: 1. Power trip in the room upon check in, apparently its a normal accurance 2. They held an event without informing us. Due to this event we were told that we cannot order any dinner before 8pm. It was 6pm we were told sorry we have event pls come back later?? . When we raised this issue after a long time someone came apologized, without giving any options nor possible solutions, all we got was sorry. We had to ask for alternatives, that too they came back later, at last they said we could eat, here's the menu, but half on the menu was not available and as we expected, the waiter staff and people in charge don't speak to each other, so they had issues understanding what was going on. 3. There was no alternative solution provided until we insisted on it, then they made an exception 4. We also asked if we can pay to extend for half day, the reception told us that they'll get back to us but they never did, amazing how a 4 star hotel operates. As a 4 star hotel their service doesn't reflect a 4 star hotel. They're very good at stating a problem, one they created, but have no idea on solving it.

Beautiful beach, clean water, white sand, coconut tree and very natural. The best food in this beautiful island is sea food. All fish, shrimp, calamari are very fresh. Grilled fish is my favorite. Shrimp and calamari are welcome. We can get fresh sea food in this island because majority occupation of local citizen is fisherman. Don't forget to drink original young coconut. Life is only once and enjoy it once in your life in this beautiful place. Thank you fisherman, you secure our protein needs.

The island has some charms and is pretty much off from any major tourism, but unfortunately the beach is not really nice for relaxing or swimming. Most of it is used by the locals for working, fishing, boats, plus there is a lot of garbage. Also the locals remove the sand for building streets and houses. Additionally the Indonesian tourists from Bira beach come over for snorkeling and banana boat racing. We felt like opposite Bars Beach was much nicer.

Pretty much what I've come to expect in Indonesia: a place of intrinsic natural value spoiled by litter and obnoxious signs. What it has going for it is that it's the nearest beach to town, it's quiet, and the water is so calm at low tide you can just float on the surface and practically fall asleep.
Sean R — Google review
The place is quite small. The water is dirty and not a good spot to spend with your family or even to take pictures. I would recommend to visit Bokori Island instead for the real experience.

Pulau Sombori, located in Sulawesi, Indonesia, is a hidden gem waiting to be explored. Together with Labengki Island, it forms an untouched tropical paradise that boasts breathtaking beauty and serene surroundings. While the lack of phone signal may require some adjustment, the stunning views and crystal-clear waters make it a perfect destination for a peaceful holiday. Visitors can enjoy the mesmerizing blue sea and observe corals without diving.
Such a beautiful place to spend your holiday, but there's no phone signal, so prepare yourself. Don't forget your sunscreen if you don't want to burn your skin

If you decide to visit Sombori make sure to take a suitcase full of cash, because the locals will ask ridiculous prices to get you there. I came to Kendari, Sulawesi especially to visit Sombori Island and I informed at several transportation companies for transport to get me there but all of them charge you like 7 million rupiah to take you there. At the end I left Kendari and I will never go back there. I don't mind paying a fair price but I do NOT like to be ripped off, thank you.

Just back after 4 days in paradise. Amazing place managed by amazing people!! The staff was amazing from day 1. Absolutely a gem!!! Labengki just reached the top of the list of the several places I visited. Incredible views, good food.. top hospitality ..

Had the most exciting, nature immersed experience I could ever have hoped for. The staff and crew made us feel like part of the household, with the most intimate and affectionate care. The beaches and landscape tours are unbelievable - impossible to describe. Wild and untouched like I have never seen. The local food freshly prepared by the house chefs was a delight - rich, traditional, delicious. We did many adventurous activities, such as snorkeling, hiking through the jungle, cave exploration, etc. As remote and isolated this place may be, I will be the happiest if I ever come back. So, to the team I say: Sampai jumpa lagi! 🫶🏼 (Until we meet again!)

Labengki Beach Hut is a paraaaaaadise! The hospitality and kindness with which you're treated is excellent. Our guide Arvan helped us and showed us the most magical corners of these islands. He’s such a nice, friendly, and cheerful guy — you can tell he truly loves his job. It’s a paradise, and we’ve been completely alone everywhere we went. In 6 days, we only came across one other couple. The food is delicious and they serve very generous portions. We also met another guide, Ipang, who was incredibly kind to us and didn’t hesitate to climb a 20-meter palm tree to get us a coconut. And let’s not forget the captain of the ship and his assistants — always attentive and ready to help us with anything at all times. Without a doubt, I recommend this destination to any adventurer who wants to experience the feeling of being alone in paradise. Labengki Beach Hut will always have a special place in our hearts!

I just spent three days and two nights at this place. The rooms are unique and fit perfectly with the beach vibe. I felt like I was spending time on a private island as there were no locals. It was quiet and very pleasant. I spent time on the sun lounger during the day. Sitting while watching the kids play on the beach. But the most memorable thing was the hospitality and the food they served. I highly recommend this place if you are visiting labengki island and sombori island. Thank me later 🙂

The room is only contains 2 beds, 1 fan, and a mini desk. The bathroom is shared with others. Overall there are 10 rooms (not including tents) and 6 bathrooms and 1 big outdoor dining area. This resort is provided by Indanki Tour, thus, if you want to stay here then you have to go through the tour. It's a private beach, and you can swim right out of your room, only 10 feet away. The food is delightful! Varies every day and surely very very fresh.

Togean Island is an island located in Tomini Bay, Central Sulawesi. Most of the people there are fishermen and a Pearl Farmer working for a Japanese company that holds the right to manage the sea to farm pearl shells. The trip to Togean Island can be reached from the Ampana City (South route) and from Gorontalo City (North route). The trip can be made by Speedboat takes about 4 hours and 11 hours by Large Motor Vessel, embarking at 9:00 and arrive at 20:00 This Vessel sails to the farthest island and stop by at pier of each big and inhabited islands. Loading and unloading passengers and the cargo. Only one trip each day. Along the trip, you can find more than a hundred of un inhabitants islands and green lagoon. Onboard you can find people bring poultry, livestock such as goat and calf. If you do not bring your own lunch along the trip, you can get that at the island when they stop by about 30 to max 40 minutes. What a long journey but enjoy your time by taking a picture or sleep for a while or playing card with other passengers or talk if they can understand English or Indonesia language because most of them are coming from Sea Tribe people only understand their own language.

Dirty water, lots of rubbish and smells like rubbish. Lots of the tiles are slippery and there are parts of the promenade that collapsed creating big holes. It's difficult to walk as the food stalls take over the promenade. The only good thing is the view of masjid kubah 99, and maybe some beautiful looking boats. Not worth a visit

Meh. A good view of the Masjid Kunah 99 across the water but not a whole lot more. In the evenings its your standard fare of pop-up street vendors selling local food, balloons and wares, roving musicians, etc. If you skip it you're not missing much.

It's the landmark of Makassar city, but sadly it's not well maintained. There is a lot of rubbish around the area, dirty toilets, not enough lighting, and the stalls are also not quite organized. Hopefully someday it can be better

First time been here, couple of month ago, lot of park lot, lot of bus being park. I think the operator of this place should improve the public facility to put more adjustable and moveable toilets. I asked some local people that operate this area about how can they get fresh water? He answered me by the water tank truck. It mighty be the fastest way to bring fresh water, but I don't think about economically. Hope this thought be considering. There is one lemon fruit in the back yard of the big building there, this kind of lemonade fruit has a lovely smells. Keep the cleanliness, keep the safety on the beach.

Beautiful place to snorkel and swim. Not very developed and that what I like about it. The entrance fee is nominal. If you are in southern Sulawesi, don't miss out on this opportunity to watch the most skilled wooden boat builders of Indonesia do their magic. Very appreciate the way all workers made the traditional Pinisi boats by hand. The beach was nice blue color & fresh water. We choosed local restaurant in the middle of the way. Then lay on the white sand under coconut shadow. Until late afternoon, the water level went far away, the wide sand appears. It is very nice to play football or run. I do prefer here more than the Tanjung Bira. The only thing is that you will see a mess of plastic along the beach. Please clean it to keep local own living source.

This beautiful beach has the softest white sands I have had the opportunity to visit. Perhaps I chose the best villa on the beach too, as the sand is much cleaner here than in some other places close by. The swaying palm trees lend an idyllic backdrop to the almost perfect place. There are incredible phinisi boat builders at the far end of the beach. Massive wooden boats that loom over the beach, waiting to be launched into the waters. With lush green hills inland and clear blue waters in the sea, this is my haven to getaway from it all. One important note, never visit during the holidays.

The panoramic view from the hilltop may not be awe-inspiring, but it is undoubtedly pleasant. If you choose to rent one of the gazebos, it is advisable to bring your own food to enjoy by the water. While there may be occasional encounters with small jellyfish, this should not deter visitors from exploring the beach.
Beautiful beach. Easy to reach but poor in infrastructure. We climb a 20m high hill equipped with concrete stairs and we could see a marvelous scenery of seas and lands👍👍

Nice beach, simple and quiet. The waves are not hard and it's easy to swim for all. The view from the top is pretty nice, for me it wasn't mind blowing but enjoyable. But if you plan to pay for the gazebos it's nice to bring your own food with you family and enjoy the water. I got stung by a small jellyfish but that's nobody's fault, but just a heads up.

Beautiful clean beach with hardly any other people (on a Wednesday afternoon). Hill with stairs all the way to the top with great views between the beach strips. About 1,5 hours drive from Tondano along mostly small curvy roads.

A hidden beach in my hometown, North Sulawesi. 3hrs ride from Manado City by car. The road to get there was very small. Surely, there was no data connection (it keeps you away from any disturbance so you can enjoy the beautiful scenery) 😃. The place were not meant for diving or even surfing. But they offered you like 2 scenery, a beach and mangroves 🙂. Better you try yourself 😉

This place has a potencial to become one of the favorite beaches in North Sulawesi. It has an amazing view. You can see it by climbing up to the hill and see the gorgeous beach on the right and a calm serenity lake on the left.

The place is ok but it is so far away from the downtown... Prepare your motorcycle/car because there's no gas station or garage around there.

Galesong Beach is a family-friendly beachfront attraction that offers a range of facilities, including swimming pools, playgrounds, and boat rentals. It's an ideal spot for family gatherings with affordable entry fees on weekdays and weekends. The place is Instagrammable and perfect for relaxing with family and friends. While the hotel prices may not be reasonable considering the limited pool access, it's still a good option for combining public pool fun with adventure activities like banana boat rides.
There are pools, restaurant, and some playground for kids. A good place for family gathering. The entry cost only 20k for weekday and 30k in weekend. It's include free gazebo and free access to the pool.

It was quiet beach when we visited this beach. Many amenities for holidays or weekends: rooms, pools, gazebos, meeting hall, restaurants, rest rooms, banana boats,...
