1Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa

Resort hotel
Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa is a sprawling tropical paradise perched above Keoneloa Beach in Poipu. With 605 rooms spread across 52 acres, the resort offers a blend of tranquility and vibrant gathering spots. Families can revel in the best pool complex on the island, featuring a lazy river, saltwater lagoon, and water slide. Culinary delights abound at various restaurants, from signature buffets to fine dining experiences with ocean views.
Where do I start from?? From the very warm welcome we received with the orchid lei, we were ready for the pampering and warmth which we were about to receive. We were given a free bottle of champagne as we were celebrating a special occasion and that made us so happy. The stunning views of the ocean, classy and tastefully designed restaurants, very sumptuous breakfast buffet, lobby shops, traditional luau show and hula dance made us feel so good. We are extremely happy that we chose Hyatt for our stay in Kauai. This resort screams of luxury, beauty and hospitality. The staff is fantastic and always welcoming. We will highly recommend this resort.

Our family of four had an amazing vacation here at Grand Hyatt Kauai. The service was too notch. The grounds are stunning. The landscaping : flowers, rocks, waterfalls and simply beautiful. The pools are next level which include jacuzzis, lazy river, waterfalls slide and a lagoon pool w sandy bottom in parts. We booked two club lounge rooms and the club staff was top tier. We partook in the breakfast, snacks, Hors d'Oeuvres and desserts most days and all the food was delicious. Very thankful we booked a club room as it saved it a lot of money eating out for breakfast! On our last night one club lounge worker (wish I remembered her name!) gave us a goody bag of granola bars and other treats for our flight home 🥹 We messaged the hotel prior that we were celebrating my husbands 50th birthday and they gifted us cupcakes and champagne! All the reviews are spot on- this place is a paradise and if you’re on the fence of booking it- just do it! You won’t be disappointed!

Our experience at the Grand Hyatt Kauai was absolutely incredible from start to finish. The spa was amazing — Deanna gave one of the best massages I’ve ever had. Jena, our wedding coordinator, was PHENOMENAL and made sure every detail of our big day went perfectly. The entire banquet staff was so friendly, attentive, and genuinely wonderful — they made our group of 83 guests feel completely taken care of. Stevenson’s Library served some of the best sushi we’ve ever had, and Jaime at Tidepools was so kind and helpful. Every interaction throughout our stay made us feel special. This resort left a lasting impression not just on us, but on all of our guests. We’re already planning to come back regularly. Highly recommend!

Staying here again and loving the entire experience! Checked in with Stephanie and she was welcoming and gave us a spacious room quickly and we felt her sincere wishes for a happy birthday! Ian at the shipwreck bar and service by the pool was attentive, and gave us lots of great tips for finding good poke! Ryan was a great driver to the shopping center and quickly picked us up when we were ready to go back. I really like that service! Lastly, in the Regency club we had Erica who couldn’t have been any better! I’ve stayed at the Sheraton, The Koa Kea and the Sonesta, but I love the grand Hyatt. It’s the best. I really recommend getting an ocean view room club level. It’s worth it.

Resort is phenomenal. Well maintained and friendly staff. Koi feeding happens 2 times a day at 9 am and 12 pm. The staff leaves out little packets of protein pellets for the public to use. 4 beautiful macaws are put on display in the main lobby. There's also, Duke, a smaller parrot. Nearby Poipu beach hosts 30 plus sleeping sea turtles in the evenings.

My trip was booked for a milestone anniversary and I had researched many resorts across different Hawaiian Islands and am so happy I booked my trip with this resort! Can't say enough good things about our experience. The entire team provides such a first class experience across all categories, restaurants, menus, service, upkeep with property, room cleanliness and options, spa, shopping on-prem, location on the water, etc etc. Even after checking out, to have the opportunity to stay on-prem while waiting for a late flight was such a nice touch. Loved the hospitality room!
Darrel B — Google review
Stayed here for 3 nights. Very nice hotel. I see some reviews about the quality of rooms and location. Having to pay thousands and get placed in the back of the hotel, farthest away from most common areas sucked. That said, the other amenities made up for it. Pool and attractions were awesome. The breakfast buffet was also a plus. It was a better buffet than the four seasons buffet. We’d come back but request a better room location.
Cole W — Google review
Obsessed! The first trip with kids (5-14) that felt like an actual vacation. The staff members were so warm and welcoming. We arrived late and they gave my kids stuffed animals, pool floaties, and various other things to welcome them to Kauai. Our room had the best view looking out over the pool and ocean. It was a quiet hotel. It’s huge! And I never felt cramped or overrun with people. The club lounge was a great benefit for us. I would suggest some more variety or some better snack options. But was happy to have access to it. As soon as we left we wanted to go back!! It was great for us.

The Sheraton Kauai Resort is a stunning oceanfront property located on the beautiful Poipu Beach. Spanning 20 acres, it offers a range of activities including water sports, cultural workshops, and hula lessons. Guests can enjoy beachfront dining at Lavas on Poipu Beach and RumFire Poipu Beach, as well as access to two freshwater pools and a fitness center.
Our first night someone complained about us talking loudly at 9:30pm 😂 and we had a TV that turned itself on when we turned it off 👻 but they came and changed out the remote and it was good afterwards. People were super friendly, scenery beautiful, weather was absolutely incredible. The location of this resort is perfect. Ocean front. If you live an active lifestyle and like a quiet atmosphere then this is the perfect location for you!

We stayed here in August so we didn’t know that during summer time this part of Kauai gets big surf. The hotel beach is narrow and small and the waves were quite uncomfortable during this time of the year so we had to drive north beaches to swim comfortably. The hotel itself is nice. I like how Marriott uses the same fragrance in their hotels worldwide. The scent spreads through HVAC. I bought the same fragrance on Amazon to my house which now smells like Marriott 😀

This stay started off wrong the moment I arrived at 9 p.m. to find no parking available anywhere—not in the unlit and sketchy side lot, not in the dark back lot, not on the side street, and not even in the valet area. The front desk offered one complimentary night of valet, but after that, it was 30 dollars per night. Since then, I’ve been walking about a quarter mile each night to and from my car. The rooms are just average—nothing special, and certainly not what I’d expect from a property calling itself a resort. The bed has no blanket, only a couple of thin sheets, which confused me at first until I realized why: the thermostat is locked at 70 degrees. The room temperature hovered around 73 near the bed and 72 in the bathroom, rising to about 77 during the day before the A/C finally kicked on or did anything. When I called the front desk, I was told it was a "water chilled system" and there was nothing that could be done. I slept with "swamp coolers" in Iraq that worked better. The internet seems to be a crappy standard for Sheraton locations in Hawaii. If you want to look at web pages you're good, but anything else will not work. Netflix barely streams for a couple minutes before it needs to buffer for 10. Worst internet of any hotel chain by far. I see most of the reviews for this place mention that, so it appears management could care less. For a Sheraton resort, this is unacceptable. I’m paying 590 dollars per night to sweat through the night and hike back and forth to my car. I’m here with a team working on the nearby power plant and we will have to rethink our accommodation moving forward. We are here 2 months a year, every year.

Really fantastic spot. We unfortunately did not have AC during our entire 3-day stay, and the room was between 77-80 degrees the whole time. We notified the front desk and they took the thermostat away for repairs, but did not finish repairing it during the entire stay. So we just didnt have a thermostat the whole time. There was one staff member who was extremely nice and helpful and waved our resort fees due to the inconvenience, and he gave us a fan as well. Overall I give it a 3/5 only because not having AC is a brutal con, especially for the price you're paying to stay there. If we had AC during our stay it would have been a 5 star rating across the board, but not having AC is pretty brutal. We couldn't sleep, and it was just really uncomfortable the whole time. The food and bar were really great, the live music was very good. Breakfast buffet was just okay.
Steven C — Google review
The front desk staff is super friendly here, that I fully appreciated! The location is absolutely perfect. It's close to Poipu beach where all the turtles come up at night. There is also a resort fee, but it does cover activities and parking. We did the lei making class which was awesome! Rating this resort a 4 though because Sheratons usually are Marriotts higher tier and I would expected even better rooms for the price point, even if it is Hawaii. We had an ocean front room which was beautiful, but there were quite a few ants in the bathroom which made me a little uneasy.
Tina V — Google review
Our friends stayed at this location, and we had the opportunity to hang out in their “Ocean View, King, High Floor” room. It was very nice, and the ocean view was beautiful. We ate at the two onsite restaurants, RumFire and Java’s, and they were both excellent in terms of service, quality and variety of food, and beautiful views of the Pacific. The grounds of the Sheraton Kaua’i are impeccably maintained, and the location in Poipu is outstanding.
Kurt Y — Google review
It's a really old hotel with really old rooms (at least in building 2), and really old pool and pool equipment. The breakfast is also bad and eventually we just gave up and went to old koloa downtown to eat. Honesty, its just not a good hotel. But... The location is good as a base to explore the south of Kauai at a somewhat reasonable price
Arie T — Google review
We had a fantastic stay at the Sheraton Kauai! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by Sheryl at the front desk, who was incredibly friendly, personal, and made us feel right at home. That first impression set the tone for the rest of our visit. Service throughout the resort was excellent, especially at the on-site restaurants. A special shout-out to Maynel at the Link Café, who made our mornings brighter with his kind and attentive service. The property is beautiful—amazing ocean views, very clean rooms and well-maintained grounds. While we had read reviews mentioning that the resort is older and came in with slightly lower expectations, that was never a factor for us. In fact, we stayed at newer resorts on the island as well, but we found ourselves liking the Sheraton more for its quieter atmosphere and more personal feel. The resort may be older, but it’s clearly been updated and is very well cared for. A highlight of our stay was the beach directly in front of the resort—perfect for swimming, with plenty of space and noticeably less crowded than beaches at some of the other resorts we visited. We’re already looking forward to coming back!

Guests can also enjoy amenities like a putting green, soccer area, spa services, complimentary yoga classes, and access to over 600 island activities.
Hands down, this is the best resort to stay at in all of Kauai! The property is immaculate, and it has the best pool you could ever imagine! My kids never wanted to leave the pool, even to go to the beach! The staff and management were extremely friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The rooms are extremely spacious, well appointed with high-end Wolf appliances and nice upgrades everywhere, and was better than I could’ve imagined. The balcony and views absolutely made it feel like paradise. It truly did make our family vacation the best we have ever had! I will certainly be back and I highly highly highly highly highly recommend this property to anyone and everyone. I hope you get a chance to enjoy all of its greatness, it will make your vacation truly one of a kind and one to remember!

Short summary: If you're a couple looking for a relaxing/romantic getaway, pick a different resort. If you're a family with kids in tow, this resort seems like a good choice (noting I did not have kids in tow, but the math checks out at least) Overall a decent experience. The basics are there - rooms are good, the villas are going to be an amazing deal for larger groups to use. Theres good parking, the resort is in a decent location with a nearby beach a short drive away. Now onto the problems - this resort is for families with children. The resort does NOT have any "adult only" pools like other resorts, and children will be running around causing trouble everywhere. The rules are loosely enforced and the place is clearly understaffed - eg the restaurant is full immediately at 7AM. You will also have trouble finding a place to sit at the pool fairly quickly. Overall there are better Marriott properties in Hawaii (particularly Westin Hapuna) for couples looking for a relaxing resort.

We loved every minute of our stay here from the second we pulled in to the amazing smell of the lobby. All of the employees were friendly and helpful, especially Nani and the girls at the front desk, Caleb and Jocelyn at the pool, and Dustin at the bar. The rooms were clean and well appointed. And the pool was gorgeous. It kept our two children (10 and 12) busy and entertained while we relaxed in the loungers. The location was perfect for what we needed. We would absolutely stay here again.

Our stay was so lovely, everything about the resort and property is great! From the moment we checked in, to our bellman, Paris, to our concierge, Kiana, all throughout our stay, the staff was very welcoming and accommodating. The Holoholo Grill had very good food and drinks. Our 3-bedroom villa was the best part and we utilized our villa to the fullest. The lanai was huge and was set up very well for the (6) of us. The kitchen is great and having the full size refrigerator was super. The pools were the VERY best, we rented a Cabana and had an excellent day! The landscape team does an amazing job and were trimming the palm trees during our stay which gave us even better coastline and resort views. I would absolutely return to this gorgeous property and highly recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting the Poipu area (centrally located to shopping, beaches and restaurants too).

Had an amazing stay at this terrific on Kauai. We were celebrating a milestone birthday for my wife so we splurged and booked a 3 Bedroom Villa for the family. It was awesome! The well furnished unit had a full kitchen, great living room and dining area plus a wrap around balcony. The staff was exceptionally well trained and full of the Aloha Spirit to please. We will definitely return and look forward to another great stay.

We've been t to kauai at least 8 times over the years and we have stayed in every location except for the northwestern part by waimea canyon. We found Koloa Landing in 2024 and i probably will never stay at another hotel besides Koloa Landing. The grounds are immaculate and the rooms are big and cozy. But what to me puts this place on the map for me is the beautiful pools. Just so GD beautiful and the water temp is perfect. The only negative thing to me is that they need a restaurant other than the Holo Holo Grill. It would be nicer to sit in a true restaurant than in an outdoor patio. Saving grace is that there is very good places to eat less than 1 mile from hotel.
Ed M — Google review
We came here for our twins 8y old birthday. Arriving here we were put in a building 2, looking at nothing and away from the ocean. And that was all fine, until we went to have fun at the pool where the kids had saw the slides on pictures and could not wait to get to it. Arriving at the pool, our son made to cut of 48 inches and my daughter (twins sister) was 0.25 inches away from the 48 inches requirement. My kids have been in the swimming team, we live across from the beach and spend the year surfing yet, 1/4 of an inch was a big problem. They didn’t let her go to the slide, leaving her behind crying on her birthday. We asked concierge if they could open an exception and we were willing to sign a waver to make our experience what we expected to be for our kids. And the answer was NO. Our kids were premature, so they are smaller than average kids. So 6y olds could make it as long as they were tall enough. Meanwhile, the hot tub has no supervision and babies can go in there on their diapers and that’s not a problem. We are extremely disappointed, and we’ll not be recommending this resorts to our friends and family. We just hoped our experience was taken more seriously, specially at a titanium level Marriot member.

Beautiful location, pool, and amazing staff. We were here on our honeymoon & had a great time, but I think families with kids would be better able to take full advantage of the amenities. The view by the beach at sunset is STUNNING

Waipouli Beach Resort & Spa is a modern vacation condominium resort on the island, offering one- and two-bedroom units with upscale kitchens and luxurious finishes. Some units are managed by recommended hotel companies or smaller property management firms. The resort features a central heated river pool with sandy-bottomed whirlpools spanning 2 acres. It provides a relaxing beachfront atmosphere with the amenities of a vacation rental, including condo spaces, stunning pool area, manicured gardens, and direct beach access.
Highly recommend Waipouli Beach Resort. The rooms were very nice and well stocked. The pool area had that resort feel. It’s oceanfront, so you have that option as well. We found the location to be great. Right across the street from Safeway and close to all the sights. Would definitely stay here again.
Michelle W — Google review
The pool area is great, the beach is clean and nice. The rules for the pool are basically “no fun allowed” (no coolers, no alcohol, no balls, no games, no floaties, NO FUN). I find this to be off-putting because when you go on vacation with your friends/family, usually you are doing it to relax and have fun. If the resort is meant for the elderly, then have a section for them to have a quiet area with no fun, don’t drag everyone else down.
Mark B — Google review
The room was great! The location was perfect if you are planning to visit both North and South side of the Island. However the service was not. The expectation is that you wash your own towels and pay for Tide pods. I was told to, take the trash to the dumpster, there was very little staff on the property. Coffee was only provided twice, no teas or other choices were provided. Again great location and room however dont expect to have much service or help.
Daneyda R — Google review
Beware-not a full service resort. So, this place boasts beautiful scenery and the rooms are spotless and fully equipped. I actually loved the rooms. However, the resort itself has seen better days. It’s clearly in a post-COVID state, and there a no amenities, other than a single restaurant there on site (dinner for 4 was about $300). Also, no coffee shop, gift shops, or any friendly faces at all front desk where you can ask questions. Instead, the lobby boasts a chiropractor’s office and dingy seating, which I found super strange. If you want a seamless check in without any human interaction, and don’t want to see any workers, this might be your place. If you want to feel like you are in Hawaii, go to somewhere in Princeville. There is no Hawaiian music playing at the pool, instead rap music blares from the kitchen for the restaurant. Also, most of the lighting is out on the walkway so if you want an evening stroll be prepared for complete darkness. Not fun overall, despite its being pretty on its face. If you have a family, this is not great. Sorry, was hoping for the best, and was glad to be leaving at the end. Not the type of Kaua’i vacation I was hoping for….,but you still have the ability to learn from our mistake. Good luck!
Sara N — Google review
The room and location are absolutely gorgeous and perfect. I highly recommend anyone to stay here. Even if you do not have an ocean view the beach is mere steps away. I am only giving this location 4 stars due to the lack of amenities. There are no vending machines, everything closes early, there is no room service, and mostly there is no prioritization for guests at the restaurant and bar. We were hoping to watch a live ukulele player and got a reservation, but the times for the band were listed wrong. We tried waiting for a seat but even people sitting at a table with waters only were not asked to leave to make room for others. All this being said, the restaurant is amazingly good even though a little pricey. Just make sure you make reservations early.
Justin D — Google review
The resort itself is beautiful, the beach access is even better. But the service was poor. The pool was open till 10 but everything closes for the pool at 6 (the slides and the towel shed) you aren't allowed any floats or beach balls (even though they have a lazy river). The bed was horrible, and when we lifted the cover we saw a green foam topper on a very stiff bed. Me and my boyfriend were more sore from sleeping on the bed then going on hikes and the sugar cane tour. For the staff, I only saw one person once. It genuinely felt like a ghost town. There are resort fees but they are all different because half of it is owned by Airbnb. It was very misleading expecting a 250 dollar fee just to be blind sided with 450 dollars worth in fees. it does state that prices are subject to change but by double seems outrageous. Also please avoid the grass there are paths to the grass but further down there are signs stating the grass is sacred. The signs are very far out and someone will yell at you for walking on it even by accident.
Aulora G — Google review
This was the perfect getaway! The resort was beautiful and well-kept. The staff were friendly and very helpful. We caught a few sunrises on the beach, and a few lazy afternoons by the pool. Centrally located, this is the perfect location from which to launch excursions. Can't wait to get back!

Overall loved our stay here! PROS: Wonderful pool, ample beach seating - we always found chairs or loungers available. Also easy to find a table with umbrella for shade. -Oasis restaraunt, on site, great view, food and service. -1 Bedroom/2 bath, washer and dryer in room - important to me for a 2 week stay. -----condo was very clean and spacious - up to date. - Very convenient as there was a Safeway grocery store, Shave Ice and several restaurants just across the street. - Very nice walking path on the back side of the resort past several other beach resorts and restaurants with a beach view. You will make a left out of the canal sidewalk and then a left onto the labeled bike/pedestrian path. Continue onto the sidewalk. After passing a few beachside resorts, you will come to a grassy/dirt path through parkland that continues to another sidewalk - just continue past Lava Lave Beach Club until you reach the ocean. - Tuesdays and Thursdays there was a Farmer's Market at Coconut Market place within walking distance. - Short walk to Lemongrass Grill - wonderful Macademia Nut encrusted Sea Bass - For the 2 week stay there was one complimentary light cleaning of the condo - really appreciated that. - much available parking, never had a problem finding a spot near our unit. CONS: We used a travel agent/package - the resort would not reveal which condo we would have until arrival. I paid for a Garden View but received a Parking lot view (Condo A205) with one Palm at the window and some view of a mountain. This was disappointing but did not let it ruin things for us. Nestled on the eastern shore of Kauai, OUTRIGGER Kauai Beach Resort & Spa is a stunning beachfront retreat that provides an all-inclusive experience for a remarkable stay on the Garden Isle. The resort boasts four outdoor pools and an upscale pan-Pacific restaurant, offering guests access to everything they need for a memorable vacation. Situated adjacent to Kauai Beach, it's perfectly located for those seeking sun and surf adventures.
We had a beautiful time at this resort! The pools are absolutely amazing. We loved the easy access to the beach. The view from our room was breathtaking and peaceful. I really appreciated how the staff would come in every day and give us new towels and clean up the sand in the bathroom and on the floors. No matter how careful we were there was still sand everywhere and this service really helped us manage it. The bell staff/ valet staff at the front were SO WELCOMING. We werent even valeting and they greeted us everytime and got to know us. The only complaint I have is that the beds were so small. They were full beds. Queen beds would have been much more comfortable for a family of 4. The beds also easily rolled and was hard to keep them in place. Overall this was a great experience and we would stay here again without thinking twice!

Their facilities were nice. We had a nice room and it was clean. It was nice to see and hear chickens in the morning. The maintenance crew do a good job of keeping the property clean. Daily Parking is expensive though but so is everything in Hawaii. Can’t complain. It’s next to the beach but it’s rough/windy/cold to swim in, nice to look at though. And their pools are nice, kid friendly. Restaurants and a coffee shop inside tries to accommodate convenience. And their workers are friendly and helpful. The gym needs better equipment but hey, why go on a treadmill when you can just walk or run outside?

Mixed experience during this stay. Hotel had significant construction resulting in no lobby, limited parking, limited elevators in service, construction noise and odors (paint). Hotel staff was mixed, about half friendly and half with significant attitude. Restaurant was really bad for dinner (wife didn't eat here meal), I ate mine because I was starving. Breakfast was very good (same Restaurant) especially loco moco. Nice ocean views from our room. Pools were cold and jacuzzi was too hot (couldn't stay in for more than a minute). Decent location near restaurants in lihue. One day, while out and about we received a text from housekeeping that they couldn't clean the room. Room was accessible all day with no sign on the door. When we got back at 5pm, we found the room had been made up. One day, no towels at pool at 10:30. Little things add up. Thus Hotel was classified as a 4 star (one reason why we booked it). Not close to being 4 star, probably 3 star. I think they need new management that takes customer service more seriously.

Amazingly beautiful resort felt like heaven! Ballrooms are luxurious, clean, comfortable and easily accessible! The staff is friendly and highly professional and expertly trained with skills that made us feel like family. Trichael arranged for special accommodations to make all 55 of us happy. Eugene, Nelson and Ron quickly met all our banquet needs by supplying high quality service with delicious, nutritious gourmet meals. We were impressed by their willingness to create vegan and gluten free options for every single special request and we had a lot of picky-eaters! Thank you Outrigger management and staff for an amazing convention.

Apparently, this resort used to be a Windham property until recently. The property shows it's age but it has a cute charm. The beach is small but not crowded at all. The whole 4 day stay showed only 2 or 3 people on the beach. Lots of swimming pools to lounge at as well. There is a bit of construction going on with the new outrigger ownership. The dining had good food, but resort pricing. Housekeeping was excellent and overall the staff always had smiles and were attentive and friendly. I would recommend staying here.

Room itself is very nice and clean. The resort can be updated. The pool area is dated. Also make sure you check your charges before you leave. The resort tried to be sneaky with our breakfast charge and over charge us even though we had daily breakfast credit. They should not try to rip off honest people. They also tried to charge me to check in 30 minutes prior to the check-in time. The room was ready and they were still trying to charge me for early check-in even though it was 3:30 PM and the check-in time is 4pm. That just goes to show you how greedy this resort is.

We stayed here 7 years ago and it was great. We checked in for a 7 night stay for our 10th wedding anniversary. We were SO disappointed to see there is MAJOR construction throughout the property. We were NEVER told from Outrigger when booking our stay that this was happening. The entire lobby, bar and entrance was papered off and unusable. We were also not told that a $29 per day parking charge would be added. Upon entering our ocean/pool view room, our view was 80% blocked from the eave on the next building. We ended up changing rooms the next day. New room was completely updated and much nicer. No towels at the pool, had to go to front desk to get them. Our elevator in building 3 never worked so we had to use stairs or go to building 2 to get down. The restaurant was cut down to a quarter of the size and only two tables outside with an ocean view. The food was so so very overpriced except breakfast was good. All of the workers that we encountered there were not very nice as they are all very disgruntled over what is going on at the property and tired of hearing us complain. They had no chairs or loungers or Adirondacks out on the beach or the grass for sunrise or any type of ocean viewing. One of the Jacuzzis was broken the entire time we were there and the other one was so hot we could barely get in it. There are also very dangerous broken tiles all around the one working Jacuzzi. That is a lawsuit waiting to happen in my opinion. We finally had enough and checked out early on Wednesday. They only refunded one of our nights so we are currently in a dispute with our credit card to get a full refund. The bummer was as I called outrigger while we were there and recorded the conversation to see if they would disclose that the property was under renovation and the lady said absolutely nothing. The whole property is in disrepair. Shame on them for not offering discounts to come stay or at least warn you ahead of time. We will never come back here again.

Just got back from our honeymoon & was looking for the true resort experience - this is not it. You'll pay full fees for 1/2 a resort - everything is under construction. Elevators don't work. Restaurants are shut down. Looking for a cocktail while the sun goes down? Not here. The bar outside the hotel is only open from 10am-530pm for pre-mixed cocktails. The only restaurant open is the high end one - which has limited hours, is highly expensive and serves frozen food. I got sick every time we ate there. Rooms are outdated, our ice bucket was covered in mold and the staff just kind of laughed. 1/2 the time you'll get coffee - if not you'll have to use the coffee shop. The pool was nice, but be aware that nothing inside the hotel is owned by the hotel - need a soda? Vending machines are $2 for a can (cash only) - but 1/2 the cans are empty and they'll just tell you to contact the vending company. Not sure why "Spa" is in the name - it's a storage room, overly expensive and has no availability despite the sign "Come on in for a massage" It's been a week and still looking for my emailed receipt from our stay despite multiple attempts to contact (we had a flight so didn't wait for the print out). Would not stay at an outrigger ever again at this price point.

The Royal Sonesta Kaua'i Resort Lihue is a beachfront retreat offering spacious rooms, an outdoor pool, and a spa. The property boasts event spaces and four restaurants for guests to enjoy. Formerly known as the Kauai Marriott, the resort has been rebranded as the Royal Sonesta and is undergoing renovations under new management. It features the largest single-level swimming pool in Hawaii, surrounded by hot tubs and overlooking Kalapaki Beach.
Its in a great location close to the airport and close to tourist activities. Staff was super friendly and there is a ton of parking. Parking is very safe. Hotel has the biggest swimming pool and super nice beach. Price was fair and rooms are very clean. Food was very good and breakfast servings are big. Worth every penny. Great hotel if you are on a budget.

We stayed at the Sonesta third week of September. The rooms are really nice and have been updated. The pool is huge with plenty of seats available everywhere. The beach is nice but the water in the bay was a little murky for Hawaii but we kind of knew that going into our trip. The food is really tasty and the portions are pretty big. The Huli Huli Chicken flatbread was delicious. The $30 parking per day and $45 per resort fees were a lot but again, we knew this going into our trip. BTW. You can see the bay from most of the pool view rooms too.

Overall, this resort is pretty great, although it’s not perfect. Its main drawback is that it is NOT private. The beach is mostly for volleyball for the locals. If you are looking for a relaxing beach stay without music, yelling locals playing sports, etc., this is not the resort for you. The positives are that if you love volleyball, you will love the beach. The pool is amazing, there are 5 hot tubs which is great. The staff are very professional and will take care of anything you need. The location is BEAUTIFUL and the price is reasonable for what you get. There are plenty of walkable nearby shops and restaurants. The food on the resort is passable but not amazing, which is par for the course on Kauai.
Ian F — Google review
Location is nice and quaint. Very cozy, not too large or small. Service is hit or miss. Small handful of service is wonderful very at grandma’s. The other large handful of service is very poor. Any interactions they give off the feeling of you inconveniencing them by asking them to do their jobs for basic service. Many of the staff speak to each other in their native language around guests which causes great uncomfortableness. Staff also gives the run around on many requests. Had issues them honoring my elite status and it required me having to talk to several managers to honor it and ultimately they still put me through a one off process that required me to follow up to obtain the credits. Overall the resort checks the boxes for what majority of people want but something about the resort and its employees is just off. I can’t tell if it’s a Sonesta thing or a local Kaua’i thing. Room are okay. Bathrooms are newly renovated and above par. The rest is a little dated but nice.
RK — Google review
I was debating whether to give it a 4 or 5. The room wasn't where I thought it would be, and probably had the worst spot. So, I tried to be fair and didn't let that affect my review. The whole place was super clean. But the best things were the awesome pool, which was warm since it wasn't too deep, but still huge and kept a good temp. And the other great thing was the soft, sandy beach right there. That was a big win for us. The food was a bit of a problem, though. The hotel restaurants and the ones nearby weren't great (mostly) and were pricey for what you got. Parking wasn't really managed, and lots of cars from outside the resort parked in the best spots near the rooms. That was annoying and made me wonder if the $30 parking fee was worth it. But the location is perfect. It's in a nice area near a beautiful golf course, and you can easily get to both the north and south parts of the island.
B G — Google review
This review is on the Luau only, we stay at the Sonesta Redondo Beach often and love it. The food was better than I expected. The Aloha was live and well. The show was fun and entertaining. The fire dancing was terrific. The day we went the front seats were reserved for VIP guests only. I was fine with this until they announced the VIP's were board members of Sonesta. In my opinion, they should have kept the hotel affiliation unknown, or sat at the back so paying guests could have had the premium seats. You own the place, book a private Luau for just the Board.
Steve N — Google review
The resort is nice but overpriced. What they dont tell you is that your parking and resort fees end up being an additional $84 a day on top of what you already paid for your room. The food is way overpriced here. We didn't end up eating a single time at the resort because of this. The pool and resort is nice and we'll taken care of. But we dont plan on coming back. Better places to stay

This is a great location. Centrally located with Kalapaki Beach right there, amazing restaurants like Duke's and Lilikoi, and plenty of shops. All within walking distance. The concierge women at The Marriott Beach Club are amazing and the shuttle that picks you up from the airport is a huge perk. They even work with a local car rental company, Aloha Rentals, that brings the car to you. Amazing!

Koʻa Kea Resort on Poipu Beach is a luxurious oceanfront property that offers upscale accommodations, top-notch amenities, and exceptional service. The boutique resort provides a romantic and intimate atmosphere with a saltwater pool, an oceanfront spa cabana offering indigenous services, and an onsite beach activity center for rentals and lessons. Guests can also enjoy complimentary fitness classes and seaside yoga sessions. The resort's central location in Poipu allows easy access to dining, shopping, and activities.
We absolutely loved our stay at the Ko’a Kea Resort! Our room was a nice size with a huge lanai with an excellent view of the ocean and pool/courtyard. Every staff member we interacted with at the resort provided top tier customer service. The entire resort, including our room, was spotlessly clean. The resort was quiet and relaxing. The location at Poipu Beach was spectacular with easy access to the ocean/beach and close to restaurants and shops in the area. Definitely walk down to Little Fish Coffee Co.!

Our time at Ko’a Kea was wonderful and would definitely return. First, the location is great. The service was phenomenal from valet to front desk. Love the little perks such as bottle of wine, water available in room and around the resort, the pool area is clean and inviting. The room was comfortable and nicely decorated. Ocean view is perfect. Love the option for ocean front yoga in the AM. While we didn’t visit Red Salt, we heard it was good. I also appreciated the updated bathrooms soft towels and nice scented products. Great experience!
Darien H — Google review
My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Ko’a Kea Resort during part of our honeymoon. The resort is the perfect size - large enough to offer privacy, yet small enough that everything feels conveniently close. The on-site restaurant, Red Salt, was exceptional, and we also enjoyed our poolside lunches from the bar. The resort attracts mostly honeymooners and couples celebrating special occasions, creating a peaceful and romantic atmosphere. While Poipu Beach is just a short walk away, there’s a smaller beach right on the resort property (see photos) that’s even more beautiful and far less crowded. Watching the sunsets there was truly one of the highlights of our trip. Although there’s only one pool, it never felt crowded, and we always found open lounge chairs. The staff was warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. We also appreciated the hourly Tesla rentals, which were easy to book and perfect for our day trip. The restaurant and bar prices were on the higher side, so we occasionally walked to Poipu Shopping Village for meals, which was a great alternative.

Best hotel experience of my life — perfect for our honeymoon. Ko‘a Kea exceeded every expectation. The service is exceptional—from valet to reception to housekeeping. Our room was always spotless with fresh towels, water, and supplies; we never ran out of anything during our week-long stay. The room, balcony, pool, and beachfront lawn chairs were all incredibly comfortable. We loved the sunrise Alo Yoga session and the convenient on-site surf/rental shop. And Red Salt is truly the best restaurant we tried in Kauai. If you value great service and thoughtful details, this is the best hotel to choose.
Maggie B — Google review
We loved this resort, its small and sweet and the service was impeccable. While this isn’t an adult only resort, we did not see a single kid during our entire stay, and I would say it probably isn’t geared to families. The location was great because several of the things we wanted to do were closer to the south of the island vs. north. Also, Po’ipu Beach was the only swimmable beach that we found on the island at this time of year (and even it was a bit rougher than expected). Our room was beautiful, and I loved the bathroom. It was an ocean view not ocean front, and I know that means it’s going to be a sideview so I was prepared. Our view was mostly pool with a side view of the ocean. Like any resort in Hawaii, be prepared to spend at least $50/day on fees and $40-$50 on parking. Now I have a confession (I swear I’m not cheap but my husband is lol), we didn’t park at the resort, right before the entrance to the resort there is street parking that we used….and by we, I mean he used, I made him pick me up and drop me off, I’m not suffering because of his cheapness lol. Normally this isn’t even an option so that’s why I’m mentioning it. We did not eat at Red Salt but heard great things about it. Also, I watched them do sunrise yoga every morning from my balcony while I munched on guava croissants from the coffee shop (they were the best), and it looked great if that’s your gig, I personally find exercising on vacation offensive to my system. The pool is small but really it’s a small resort so it never had more than a few people and the bar was perfect for an afternoon cocktail. My only regret about this resort was not spending more time enjoying it.

Loved the experience here. Right from when we entered, the valet and everyone else greeted us soo beautifully. Everyone was so nice in talking and explaining things. We booked partial ocean view room but our view wasn't good, so they changed our room upon request in the same category and got a nicer one. Loved the room service experience too. Usually they don't have green tea packets in room, but upon request they went above and beyond to provide those. Food was also good at Red Salt. Would definitely recommend this.
Diksha C — Google review
Amazing stay at Ko'a Kea from check in to check out. The location to swimmable and snorkel beaches with beautiful sunrises and sunsets was perfect. It's a smaller resort than the others located nearby, so it felt much more manageable/less crowded, and special. Everything was spotlessly clean and beautiful to look at. Dinner at Red Salt was incredible. Can't wait to return and stay again!
Kyle G — Google review
Such a beautiful resort without having the feel of a large resort hotel. Definitely get the ocean view room if possible. It is such an incredible view. We were very happy with the amenities of this resort and would definitely go back if we are on this beautiful island again.

Kiahuna Plantation Resort Kauai by OUTRIGGER is a laid-back beachfront retreat in Koloa, offering casual condos with kitchens and private lanais. The resort features a restaurant, terrace, garden, concierge services, wedding services, picnic area, and barbecue grills. It provides an authentic Hawaiian vibe and unpretentious amenities for a family-friendly relaxed vacation without the crowded feel of a typical hotel or resort.
Rooms are a little dated , but they are always updating. Not all rooms have AC, but coming from Texas high 70’s at night is a treat. Property is beautifully landscaped with tons of orchids and bromeliads. 5 min walk to one of the best beaches on the island, and many choices for food all within a 5 mile radius. We spent most of the week on excursions so the place was great to just crash for the night, if this fits your needs then this will be perfect for you. Staff are super nice, just like all Hawaiians. Mohalo 🤗

Kiahuna Plantation Resort is a wonderful place to stay! The condo felt more like home with more than enough space for me and plenty of room for a family as well. It included a queen-size bedroom, pullout couch, inflatable mattress, full kitchen, dining area, and outdoor seating! Everything you could need for a comfortable stay. The layout made it easy to relax, only an 5 minute walk to the beach, and the resort grounds are absolutely stunning! A great choice for anyone visiting Kauaʻi! ❤️

Great place to stay on Kaua'i. The grounds are absolutely beautiful 🌺🌴I would recommend staying here. Close to the beach. This is apt/condo style that is managed by outrigger. Which is nice because, you get towel exchange(s) and Linen exchange(s) *frequency depends on how many nights you book. Across the main street, is an athletic club that you get access to for swimming, gym, multiple courts and a restaurant.
K F — Google review
The property intentionally lied about their amenities, in the description it says "pool on-site". There is no pool on-site. "The pool" is about 1/4 mile away and across a busy road at a place called Poipu Beach Athletic Club. Which is open to anyone. The only thing the really have onsite is a couple of outdoor community grills which are nice and in good working order. We Have 2 small children and an infant and we were given a room with only 2nd floor access and no elevator which was extremely inconvenient having an infant in a stroller. After check in We were also never offered any help with our bags. The condos do not have air conditioning throughout the dwelling only in the bedrooms so they get very hot, this was also not disclosed in the property description either. Our room was pretty dated and looked like nothing had been updated since the early 1990's. We also upgraded to have an ocean view, while we could see the ocean from our balcony it was not a good view and we were quite a good distance from the water. Also none of many water fountains around the property worked, they are all empty. We asked for a refund and were denied but we're told the manager would call us the next day. Which never happened. Overall the property was beautiful and well kept but I am however very disappointed in the dishonesty in the property description and with the property management. Knowing what we know now we would have stayed somewhere else.

Married here 20 years ago, back now for writer's conference. The resort remains largely intact with some management changes and upgrades. Service and staff are great, the rings are still 4 star, and the location is very central to local outings if desired.

Very dirty, very hot. No portable fans, 1 ceiling fan in main living space, 1 ceiling fan in each bedroom. One of the ceiling fans was broken on the first night, office gave us a couple of box fans and did replace broken ceiling fan. Were not allowed to choose rooms, ours was up by the road. So you had lots of road noise. No staff on site over night and there was lots of noise from other guests, one guy played his guitar on his balcony until 2am. We've stayed with out ac before, but up by the road there is little to no breeze. Also NO PRIVACY there were zero curtains in our rooms and the only way to get airflow was to open the wood slats so everyone can see in and the bedrooms were on the ground floor. Our room also had roaches and was very dirty on the ground floor. Furniture was worn out, cushions flat from use. Rug in the main living space was disgusting. Place was probably nice 12 years ago. All the fountains etc were in disrepair on site restaurant was no longer in business. Pool is across the street and is pretty small so very crowded.

Great location with a great beach and the only reason we keep coming back here. The resort itself is getting long in the tooth. Many of the units are tired and in need of updating. Castle resorts is the cheapest and you get what you pay for. The staff always seems a little put out you're bothering them. We've been here multiple times and they couldn't care less, wouldn't know us from Adam.

We had the BEST time at Whaler’s Cove! Unit 212 on the ground floor was amazing! We saw turtles every day and loved eating meals out on our lanai. Being from San Francisco where it’s cold at night I was a little worried about not having AC, but we opened the doors to let the afternoon breeze blow through and all slept great with the fans provided. All of the staff were so kind and helpful. The gardens, pool and hot tub were great with the waves crashing onto shore right by us! The stars at night were so bright and beautiful, and we got to see some meteors, too. We loved the nearby beaches and farmers markets. There is plenty of great food, shopping and sightseeing nearby. I wouldn’t change a thing about our stay. If you’re debating where to stay, look no further. Whaler’s Cove is a true gem!

Two heavenly weeks at an oceanfront Condo at Whaler's Cove in Poipu. Walking distance to Kukuiula Shopping Center for Lappert's coffee and later in the afternoon for Lappert's ice cream. The shopping center has an eclectic collection of shops and boutiques and a large Longs Drug store. It also has a fine collection of casual and upscale restaurants, all within walking distance. I enjoyed the craft show at the Beach House Restaurant, and of course the "not too well known" Babies beach. We had such a wonderful stay at Whalers Cove, Condo 134! The unit had everything we needed and more—fully stocked kitchen supplies, high-quality shampoo and toiletries, even thoughtful extras like sunscreen. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves each night was pure bliss. The pool was fantastic, and the free beach gear made our days in the sun extra easy and fun. The front desk staff were warm and helpful from the moment we arrived. We truly felt cared for. We’d absolutely love to come back again—thank you for a beautiful stay!

This was my first time in Hawaii and I’m so glad we came here. Our rental was managed my MARIANNE, and she was beyond amazing. She checked in every other day to see if we needed anything and spare everything for when we ran out (conditioners, spices, etc). You should know there is NO AC in any of the units, but we came in October and it was the perfect temp. The wind and fans kept us more than cool enough. No direct beach access, but it is right at the waters edge with great views (see photos). For a really nice beach go to BABY BEACH, a 2 minute walk down the road. It’s very private (only beachfront houses) and great for kids because of the reef wall. There is a stairwell in the parking lot that goes directly to the water or direct snorkeling access. (GREAT snorkeling right in front of the resort and easy for kiddos) We went to the Grand Hyatt down the street for drinks one night, and the gardens there are beautiful, but I’m very glad we came here instead. It’s an incredibly quiet and private place, I even had my proposal here early in the trip and it was absolutely perfect.

Stayed for 8 nights in August in #134 and had an amazing stay. The room was well stocked and had an incredible view. The resort was quiet and the pool rarely had more than 3 households. Parking is easy. Resort was walking distance to Baby Beach which is great for snorkeling and safe swimming for kids. We also stayed in 2013 and had a similar experience. Staff were happy to replenish our beach towels and loan us snorkel gear, chairs, and umbrellas.

Phenomenal way to experience Kaua’i! We stayed in two units #136 & #210 for our family of 6 with our adult children. We got to experience the closeness of beaches, shopping, and food within walking or driving distances. #136 is oceanfront and #210 is poolside so we got the best of both worlds at the resort! Great management and amenities provided.

Waimea Plantation Cottages is a unique beachfront vacation retreat on Kauai, offering 1- to 3-bedroom cottages that have been restored from the 1880s to the 1930s. Each cottage is named after its original plantation-worker dweller and features period rattan and wicker furniture, as well as fabrics from the sugar era. The cottages are equipped with modern kitchens and bathrooms, some of which offer oceanfront views.
Stayed at the cottages with my husband and 16 month old daughter. We enjoyed a low key vacation. We enjoyed the main pool, shallow pool, restaurant, and walking around the property. We also drove up to the Waimea canyon. There is a small grocery store near by. We made the 30 minute drive to the family friendly public beach and more restaurants. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the restaurant on site.

Simply a beautiful property surrounded by nature. Mature trees and wide expansive green spaces make this a wonderful place to stay. Quaint and comfortable plantation cottages make you feel like you’re stepping back in time to a Kauai before all the tourism. Pool was lovely and there’s a great restaurant on site for food and drinks. Also we enjoyed beautiful sunset views of Niihau from the Adirondack chairs near the beach. Definitely a must visit for anyone who loves places a little off the beaten path.

This setting is magical. Surrounded by the dry scrub-covered hills of the leeward side of the island, this place is an oasis of green. The trees are magnificent, and the black sand beach is not crowded at all. The staff are super friendly and always available, but never overbearing. The rooms are very nice, but really showing their age. Kitchens are decently stocked with cookware, but no staples, not even salt and pepper.

Wow! What a gem of a place. We just had the most wonderful, relaxing stay. WPC gave us that true Hawaiin experience that we wouldn’t have had at a mainstream resort. Easy access to Waimea Canyon and the Na Pali Coast. Great food and better service. The staff was so kind. Go on a hike, walk the black sand beach, lay be their pool, grab a drink (I suggest the Waimea Jackass) at the bar and bring a deck of playing cards before watching the sunset. We will 110% be staying at WPC when we return!!

Unforgettable 7 days! The best starting point for hikers to Waimea Canyon. The cottage is an oasis after a day on the canyon trail. It is quiet, you can only hear the ocean. Good restaurants or Food Trucks within walking distance. Highly recommended.

We came to the cottages for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did! We wanted to spend some time off the beaten path at a more private, quiet resort and Waimea Plantation Cottages delivered. The pool area looking out over the beach is gorgeous and we enjoyed sitting in the Adirondack chairs near the shore and listening to nature around us. We stayed in a small, one bedroom cottage, but it was perfect for us since we just needed a cozy space to share. We will definitely be returning when we come back to the island.

We had a spider in every room and cobwebs and spider nest in one room. Had to buy and bug zapper for bathroom because knats and no see um with mosquitos where there. We had house keeping come in the 2 nd day. Forgot the webs. All windows were dirty and couldn’t look out. They never came back to clean. Did it ourselves. Staff said this is Hawaii. We love the cottages. This was our 3rd time. And never was like this, so sad to say.

This is a great low key spot to take in Kauai. Pool is beautiful. Great sunset spot!! The on site restaurant is also really good. Check in was fantastic. Everyone is really sweet. The cottage itself was very charming. The grounds are kept up and are truly immaculate. God is good !!

Nestled within the stunning Hanalei Bay Resort, this tropical getaway offers casual rooms and suites with modern finishes and breathtaking mountain views. The resort boasts two pools, tennis courts, and a convenient beach shuttle for guests to explore the serene Hanalei Bay. With an organic design that blends seamlessly into the lush landscape, this Kauai beach resort provides a laid-back vibe with true Hawaiian luxury. Families can enjoy spacious one or two-bedroom condos featuring queen-size sofa beds for added comfort.
Our stay at Hanalei Bay was excellent. The food was great (especially the pizza, which is impressive coming from a born-and-raised CT boy) and the restaurants/bars are all in lovely lanais with superb views. The pool and jacuzzi are second to none, with waterfalls for both and a pebble floor for the jacuzzi. The grounds have flowers everywhere, are quiet, and beach access is a lovely short walk down (a little steep for some but I like the exercise). The staff is friendly and helpful, and everything from the grounds to the facilities are well-taken care of. We will be coming back 😊

This resort has been a fantastic choice for our family for over 10 years. What truly made our stay unforgettable was the staff. From the warm welcome at the front desk to the helpful and friendly Bellmen, Valet, Housekeeping and Grounds Keepers. Everyone was so professional and we appreciated that. We were blown away again by the beauty of this Resort. The pools, hot tubs, courts and grounds are meticulously kept. Our Suite was beautiful, super quiet and exceptionally clean. The morning and evening views from our decks were unbelievable. The restaurants and coffee shop are definitely an added feature with something for everyones taste. Thanks again to ALL the staff members at Hanalei Bay Resort. We are definitely coming back! 100%

We love the location, the views, the room, etc. Unfortunately, it does feel like we are a burden on everyone here. The employees definitely do not make you feel welcome and let that be known. We have young children and with that, comes challenges. We have felt like we are imposing on their home here. We have not had anyone change our sheets even though we were told we would and asked for that. I did do it myself at one point, but everything is just thrown at us. Be prepared everything closes on random days. Be prepared to have no food available at most hours of the day. The pool randomly closes in the morning and no signs posted about that or notice either. We are the most easy to please people and maybe it’s because we aren’t rich and a young family that we are being treated like this. We will most likely not be coming back, but have enjoyed the views area while we were here. I do want to say Jodi has been very sweet. I appreciate her help when we needed it.

We love the Hanalei Bay Resort for the breathtaking views, lush landscapes, and how serene it feels. We definitely get our exercise in walking to the fitness center and the beach and appreciate a lift in the golf carts as needed. The staff is amazing and continues to ensure we’re having a great time and have everything we need. The rooms are well appointed and maintained. All of this keeps us coming back.

Beautiful resort with wonderful staff. Everything is well manicured and taken care of. They pay extra attention to make sure guests are well taken care of. It's a bummer that they have everything for a swim up bar but the bar. Hopefully they can remedy that soon. The room don't get a 5 cause the bathroom could be a little cleaner, but other than that, they are pretty good.

We selected this resort because of the rating of 4.5. We were disappointed. The resort grounds are very nice and offers alot of activities. Now for the issues, the room was large but definitely showing it's age. The air conditioning in the family area was on the blink, kitchen sink faucet falling apart, the entire resort television stopped working halfway through our vacation and was never restored, the two restaurants on site closed down 2 days after we arrived and did not open back up until our last night. We own two timeshares and we used exchange points to vacation here. The exchange rate for this resort was quite high along with the exchange fees. Also, we were charged $80.00 a night for resort fees, parking fees and misc fees. Totaling $560.00 for 7 nights. Sure wish we would have stayed elsewhere. Rob Mabry

The property was beautiful. We booked from an owner and room was very nice. We were not there enough to enjoy the amenities. Downside… restaurant closed almost entire time we were there. It would have been great when we arrived at 6pm after a full day of travel, and raining. Bridge to Hanalei Bay closed. Westin stopped serving, so we were left with picking up pre-made sandwich. The coffee shop was great with wonderful service. Try the “Dirty Golden”.. yum. Well maintained, pool looked nice. They need to open the pool bar again! Overall a very nice place. Note that it is 45 min to Kapaa. Over an hour to get to Poi Pu. But if you plan to chill in the area it is beautiful. Just note it is very low key and not a place for entertainment family fun. I was surprised by the $50 check-in fee. Seriously? Also was a $25 per day fee which we knew about. So expect additional charges when you arrive.
Sarah L — Google review
The views and the grounds are beautiful. The food in the restaurant is very good. The staff is friendly and helpful. That being said, the room we had is dated and needs to be modernized. They charge a $50 fee to check in which I consider a ridiculous junk fee. Parking in the crowded lot is $23+ per day with taxes. It's already expensive to rent there and to pay for the significantly elevated prices on Kauai, so the parking fee feels like getting nickled and dimed.

Such a magical place! The rooms are beautiful, the views are amazing, and the food is so good. The restaurant’s perfect for both breakfast and dinner. The spa was great too — I got an awesome massage! Everyone was super attentive, and I loved how they kept refilling the snacks in my room (I definitely ate them all 😄). It’s so peaceful and relaxing here. I had the best time and can’t wait to come back!

Vincent Barnett and his team made our special trip to Hanalei absolutely incredible! Everything was perfect from the moment we arrived until checkout for our large group of nine. Traveling with both small children and adults, Vincent ensured our rooms were conveniently located near one another. He was accessible 24/7, and booking activities was seamless—we could simply text him! He even arranged welcome gifts and balloons in the children’s room for their birthdays. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. One in a lifetime experience! The property is picture perfect and every meal was to die for! 1 hotel never disappoints!

I did a lot of research before confirming my trip. I'm absolutely happy we decided to come and feel it has been well worth the price. The overall atmosphere is calm and deeply relaxing. The views are unbeatable and the decor tops it all off. Everywhere you look is beauty. We have enjoyed their restaurants and their complimentary fitness classes and gym. Tulsi in the spa was very helpful in booking a service, and Juda at reception provided excellent service!! Update: I wanted to add my thanks to several more of the excellent staff. Fitness: Julie (amazing beachside yoga), Bruno (taught me new ways to use a roller!), Nilce (opened my eyes to somatics and Pilates), and Nicole (taught a soulful yoga class). I also enjoyed a superb massage in the lomilomi style by Rose. There were countless other people that make this place work including cooks, bartenders, servers, gardeners, concierge, and housekeepers. Really, everyone deserves praise for a job well done!

This stay was very close to a 5-star experience. The property is beautiful, and our room was lovely. We truly enjoyed our time here. I do have one gentle suggestion for management: when the hotel is at capacity, it may be better to let guests know rather than placing them in rooms or tables that don’t reflect the standard you aim to provide. For example, our room was located next to dehumidifiers and equipment, which affected the atmosphere a bit. And when dining at the sushi restaurant, we were seated in an area without the ocean view we were looking forward to. These small details can make a big difference in how special and memorable a stay feels—especially at this price point. I share this only in the spirit of helpful feedback, because with just a bit more attention to the guest experience, this truly could be an effortless 5-star stay.

I travel a lot and have truly never had a better hotel experience. I came with my two young children and the staff was so attentive and caring towards them. The views are absolutely incredible—we had a room with a private terrace facing the ocean and mountains. Everything was perfect—the room, the staff, the food, the pool, the gym, the spa… If you want to have a relaxing, luxury vacation in a stunning location, stay at this hotel. The only downside was coming back and missing the 1 hotel!!!!

I’ve been coming to 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay since 2023, and the pool staff is a huge part of why I keep returning. The team is consistently warm, attentive, and genuinely kind — and Tia, especially, deserves recognition. She’s been here for years, and her steady energy, kindness, and respect set the tone the moment you arrive at the pool. Even on the busiest days, she checks in with everyone and somehow makes you feel like you’re the only guest she’s focused on. That kind of presence really shapes the experience, not just at the pool, but throughout the entire resort. What I’ve always appreciated is the familiarity — being greeted by the same faces who actually remember me year after year. That level of care is rare, and it shows. The whole team is upbeat, smiling, and laughing with guests, creating the kind of effortless, positive atmosphere that makes your stay feel special from start to finish. The pool staff here truly elevates the resort. If you’re staying at 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay, expect them to make your trip even better.

Our stay at the 1 has been exceptional ! Not only is the property exquisite and the staff has been the icing on the cake. We spent Sunday afternoon by the pool bar and our bartender Rane made the afternoon even more fun! The next day Kyle at the pool bar made my mom feel extra special on her birthday! Alana at the 1 kitchen was also great for breakfast! Already dreaming of our next trip back!

Nestled along the stunning shores of Kauai, Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club is a tropical paradise that perfectly blends luxury with family-friendly amenities. This upscale resort features spacious two-bedroom, two-bath villas designed to accommodate up to eight guests, complete with full kitchens and inviting living areas. Guests can unwind by one of the three outdoor pools—one boasting enchanting waterfalls—while children splash in their own dedicated pool near the beach.
We are owners of a timeshare at this resort and this was our first visit. We had a fantastic time every day of our trip. The room as spacious and well laid out. They had everything we needed for our family to have an amazing trip. We used the grills several times for dinners, which was great as well. The pools and beach are really close and super convenient. Highly recommend this resort. My family and I can't wait to go back next year!

I really like the atmosphere of this place, and the room is big. However, im not a big fan of how much they charge their guests for events and parking. Most hotels in Kauai offer free parking and events are free or highly discounted. . $15 for shave ice, $30 for a plate of Togo food, $8 for a small coffee, kinda exhaust you, and makes the events as a scam rather than inviting to guests. I gave it a four star because if you avoid it and go to Starbucks or the big save nearby, it’s a nice atmosphere.
Ryan M — Google review
I've been coming here every other year since it was built. Its been refurbished and is just as nice as it ever was. Location is perfect, but their definition of ocean view means it is visible from the balcony. The resort is nice, even if your room location might be less than desirable.

When going to kauai Poipu or princeville is the best places to go. Princeville is even more expensive than Poipu and I'm not sure thats justified. If staying in poipu this timeshare location is one of the best. Staff is great and location is hard to beat. Rooms are higher quality than most marriott locations. Check the website for what they look like. They are pretty accurate

The resort has changed over the years. Once a tropical resort somehow turned into a modern unwelcoming typical resort. Once styled with Hawaiian charm is a resort that can be found anywhere on the mainland. Once Tommy Bahama inspired turned out to be cold and lacking its Hawaiian flair. Even the grounds were less tropical than years gone by. When coming to Hawaii you want to feel like you’re in Hawaii.

Beautiful beach club on south shore at Poipu Beach. Rooms were clean and taken care of. No complimentary breakfast but there is a bar with pretty good drinks and lunch foods. Some mornings there is a breakfast combo of some sort. We were in a 2 bedroom villa that overlooked the lagoon, very pretty. Showers got hot real fast, so that was nice. Not too far from things to do and can easily access the beach, where you can find snorkeling and waves, or just relaxing. Pleasant staff too. Quite expensive though!

We're 21 year owners and have only missed one year (2020). We would never trade our week to go anywhere else. The Waiohai is paradise! The rooms are a little dated but large and functional. Fully-equipped kitchen, two bedrooms, two baths, pull-out bed, and great ocean views. Staff are exceptional They really take care of you and make you feel like 'ohana.

This resort is amazing! It offers anything and everything you may need. Lots of parking and close to so many local businesses and dining. The beach is right on the front steps. Poipu Beach Park is a perennial favorite, featuring two beaches divided by a sandbar point. The left side offers a sandy-bottom pool protected by a lava-rock jetty, perfect for children, while the right side attracts swimmers, snorkelers, and surfers. The park's 5 1/2-acre area includes picnic shelters, play structures, restrooms, and showers. It is an ideal spot for families with its spacious lawn and palm-dotted surroundings.
This was the most crowded beach we visited, but also had some of the best snorkeling and provided the opportunity to see two sea turtles! There is a nearby surf shop where you can rent snorkels and umbrellas, though the umbrellas are a hot commodity. There is good parking, but being as popular a spot as this is it was always completely full while we were there. Snorkeling is very good with fantastic visibility and great marine diversity. If you're facing towards the ocean, I recommend staying more towards the right side, away from the sandier left side. A good reference point is the buoy. Stay right of that, and you'll have better visibility. Saw loads of fish and eels. Just stay in the bay, and avoid the heavier surf at the bay's mouth. The water does get shallower at the mouth of the bay, and that's where I saw some bigger fish, so it was easy to get tempted out too far. Worth the drive, no matter where you're staying on the island.

Lovely beach! Lots of sandy areas, and calm enough to swim and snorkel. If you go out far enough there are some good surfing spots. Lots of turtles and monk seals which are always nice to see, just keep your distance. The beach was pretty crowded and definitely touristy, but it was pretty pleasant overall.
Gabe A — Google review
Poipu beach was such an incredible experience. We were lucky enough to see a green sea turtle come to the beach and rest. The waves were mild but the rip was on the more intense side. The lifeguards were very attentive and had a megaphone. They were able to communicate concerns to the entire beach.
Madison D — Google review
I counted 20 sea turtles on the beach in front of Brenakke's last night. So cool to see them come onto shore for the evening. Everyone was very respectful.
Carla B — Google review
Come during the day to swim with the turtles, come at night to see them sleeping on the beach! During our time here we were able to see so many turtles and even a couple monk seals! Even if you only have a couple hours, bring your snorkel gear and jump in!
Taryn N — Google review
The beach is nice and spacious, with a parking lot and some restaurants nearby. Behind the beach, there are picnic tables, a kids’ park, and restrooms. At sunset, turtles come ashore, and you can see them—it’s a beautiful sight.
Sara V — Google review

Anahola Beach Park is a picturesque and family-friendly beach located on the North Shore of Kauai. The sandy entry makes it perfect for kids to play in the calm waters, while snorkeling and beginning diving are popular activities just off shore. With stunning views of the mountains and golden sand, this lifeguarded beach offers one of the best spots for swimming and snorkeling on Kauai's North Shore. Additionally, it features a basic campground with beautiful views but limited amenities.
Very nice arch shaped beach, one can drive car up to the sand. Good waves for body surfing or family fun time at the beach. Beach has basic amenities, roads are not so paved. One has to be careful if the car has low clearance then don't take it in the deep sand or risk it getting stuck. Overall it's a fun park.
Ash S — Google review
A very beautiful backdrop, a quiet place with nice beach. The water is good for all kinds of water activities, but has loose seaweed (macroalgae?) which obscures visibility for snorkeling.
Dima L — Google review
This park can only be accessed from Kukuihale Road. The bigger part (used by surfers) can be accessed by Anahola Road which is cut off by a road block that doesn't show on Google. There is plenty of parking down the dirt path and bathrooms. The sand is smooth, the water is clear, and if you swim silently there are plenty of fish to see. We also saw a turtle. Please make sure to take your trash with you.
Tiffany R — Google review
One of the more chill beaches on the island, Anahola has a lot to offer, especially for those with children. The waves here tend to be more gentle than most other beaches on Kauai, and even if not there is a calm river on the westernmost portion of the beach you can access if you want a more relaxing beach day. The sand is soft and fine, and there is a beautiful little grassy area along the aforementioned river as well. There’s camping, rowing, and bonfire opportunities here, although I didn’t experience any of those first hand. The way the beach faces east near the river mouth also makes it a great spot to see a sunrise or moonrise. A perfect spot for a calm, relaxed beach day.

I put 3 stars to not up tick the algorithm and just have a real good review. I’ve had great times camping here, seriously, from making friends that share campfire for meals, to waking up to gentle clear waters around the sleeping giant. Lots of Mana at Anahola Beach. Keep your spirit light no matta rain or shine. Days I’ll always cherish. The mosquitoes weren’t as bad as at Anini either. Remember to always greet the locals, clean up after yourself, do something good for the land and the people while you’re there and let your heart be happy 💓🌸🌊

This is a gorgeous beach and park. There is also, as of July 2025, a large encampment of people living semi permanently at the campground. We camped here for one night with a permit. We were surprised by the dozens of other people staying at the beach who appeared to live there. Because there were so many people here, the bathrooms and facilities were very dirty and busy.

Wailua River State Park is a lush river valley preserve in Kauai, Hawaii, known for its scenic views, notable waterfall, and fern grotto. Kekaha Beach Park, also known as MacArthur Park, is a long and wide sandy beach located on the southwestern shore of Kauai. It's a popular spot for beachcombing, fishing, and surfing. The park offers picnic areas and public restrooms for visitors to enjoy. While the strong currents make it unsuitable for swimming, experienced surfers can take advantage of the excellent waves. The beach is also renowned for its stunning sunset views over Niihau.
If you’re chasing the perfect sunset, Kekaha Beach is *the* spot. The black sand gives it this raw, untouched feel, and when the sun starts dipping, the sky turns into a masterpiece—deep oranges, fiery reds, and golden streaks that look straight out of a painting. Waves roll in gently, reflecting the glow like liquid gold, and the whole scene is just surreal. No crowds, no chaos—just nature putting on its best show.
Raj — Google review
Didn’t love this beach. It’s small, and cars drive right on the sand, which takes away from the vibe. There were porta potties, but not much else in terms of facilities. Pretty views, but overall not much of a beach. We went to Salt Pond afterward, which was much better for swimming and relaxing.
Jennifer F — Google review
Kekaha Beach Park is an absolute paradise! One of the highlights is the stunning rock cliff on the beach side, which creates a dramatic backdrop against the vibrant blue waters. It’s perfect for those wanting to take some breathtaking photos or just relax and enjoy the view. What makes this beach even more unique is the ability to drive on the beach with capable vehicles. It adds an adventurous twist to your visit, but be warned—the sand can be very soft, so make sure your vehicle is suited for it to avoid getting stuck! This park is also a fantastic spot for sunrise and sunset lovers. Watching the sun rise over the horizon in the morning is truly magical, casting beautiful colors across the sky and reflecting off the water. Similarly, the sunsets here are equally mesmerizing, with the sun dipping below the horizon and creating a stunning display of oranges, pinks, and purples. Kekaha Beach Park is well-equipped with amenities, including pavilions for shade and gatherings, port-a-potties on-site for convenience, and a lifeguard tower for added safety. Whether you’re looking to explore, relax, or simply enjoy nature’s beauty, this park has it all. It’s a must-visit for anyone in Kauai!

Great beach. Seemed where the locals go to hang out. Not crowded at all. Beautiful expansive sand. If you want to get away from the crowds on the south of Kauai, go here.

Love this place. My wife and I stayed at an air bnb near by and surfed out here every evening. Currents are strong and there’s shallow coral reefs so be careful. Also, the energy here is heavy. We both experienced neither positive nor negative but very heavy and stagnant spiritual energy all around Kekaha. If you are sensitive to this beware. It can take its hold.

The park / beach is okay! It's pretty laid back and not busy. Parking is free. The waves for the beach can be pretty strong! And there is a lifeguard, which is nice, and various picnic table areas. The main reason why I'd rate it less than a 5 is because the area little dirty and has trash laying around in the sand. Overall, decent place to relax though.

Looks to be a popular fishing spot. Makes for a nice short stroll along the beach.

in his review, Michael is talking about Polihale, not Kekaha beach park. .. which by the way isn't called Kekaha Beach Park but is named MacArthur Park after a local steward. Macarthur park is just a small section of beach along the road, it was nearly all gone recently as the sands have been eroding steadily since the installment of the breakwater of the nearby small boat harbor, no correlation implied ; ) It does have a lifeguard and if you count portas as bathrooms, it has two along with small picnic pavilions. Sunset is amazing here as you can see Ni'ihau and Lehua in the west, but the ocean isn't usually great for swimming as its often brown, rowdy or has strong currents. Also the park is near to the dump so litter from trash transport gives the appearance of being a trashy place, and the encampments across the street only magnify that. You will definitely want to wash off after bathing here as the majority of westside cesspools leak and the ag ditch water drains here too... if you're visiting you should strongly consider other options especially the nearby salt pond park, which is safe and has good swim, snorkel, facilities, seals, and sunset MacArthur is used daily by many locals, if you do visit the park, respect peoples space and watch out for hammerhead and tiger sharks : )

Niumalu Beach Park is a picturesque 3-acre beachfront oasis that offers a perfect blend of relaxation and recreation. Nestled near Lihue, this serene park features playground equipment for the little ones, picnic areas ideal for enjoying lunch with family or friends, and convenient restrooms. The park is bordered by Nawiliwili Harbor on one side and a small boat ramp on the other, making it an excellent spot for those looking to enjoy some time on the water.
This was the perfect beach for our whole group. Soft sand, green grass, shade under the palm trees. Easy to rent chairs and umbrellas. Plenty of shopping nearby and lovely restaurants. Just an $8 uber ride to the cruise ship or 14 minute walk.

I visited this park when it was high tide, so the only visible sandy beach area was actually in the canoe club next door, and it was very small, like 10 feet wide. Rest of the bank was either filled with native plants, or with volcanic rocks. The river that ran by the beach is kind of smelly and muddy, so swimming is definitely not advisable. A few homeless looking people with their belongings were scattered around the park sleeping, so a visitor like me look out of place.
Louis L — Google review
I think this was the black sand beach. It was like no beach I have been on. It looked like pulverized lava rock the size of brown sand. There were a number of moderate sized rocks. There was a rocked off area. While I was there two green turtles just below the rock area in the water. After I left, one of them came out of the water on to the beach. There was a small mostly jewelry stand. There was a covered picnic area and bathrooms.

There were no signs jndicating a city curfew at the park so me and a friend of mine got a ticket. I was told afterwards that the curfew was at 9:30 pm. Anyway Honolulu residents should be proud of themselves for maintaing a cordual and friendly relations with visutors under the extreme conditions of Covid-19 and protest. I will be back.

Ha'ena Beach Park is a small, picturesque sand beach with occasional strong surf and a freshwater stream. It's a popular spot for swimming and snorkeling during calm summer conditions, offering turquoise waters that are hard to resist. The beach is located on one side of the crescent-shaped Maniniholo Bay, with Mount Makana (Bali Hai) providing a stunning backdrop. In the winter, experienced surfers flock here to ride giant waves and strong currents.
This beach is so very magical. The backdrop scenery of the mountains and cascading waterfalls is worth the walk for the amazing photo opportunities. Sand is silky just need to be careful and respectful of the coral that washes ashore. I would definitely say swimming, snorkeling and surfing is for expert only experience with all the jagged rocks and coral substrate but also definitely worth wading around for some great photos. There is also 2 areas where fresh water from the mountain and salt water from the beach mix and it’s a treat to stick your feet in at that spot. Across the road from the parking lot is the dry cave and a few waterfalls that were nice to see flowing strong. Be aware on a rainy day the road to get to the beach can flood and only suv or 4x4 vehicles are safe to pass.

Pretty water! This place is one of those places you look at and think man is this real? Parking is TRICKY there isn't much of it there! The current is strong and this is a great spot to boogie board. There are showers hidden from sight behind a white wooden thing next to the public restroom. There is a cool cave across the street Definitely take the time to walk across and into the cave.

Beautiful and spacious beach, the parking was limited but we were able to find a spot, even on a Sunday afternoon. Not an ideal spot for swimming with the shore break in some spots. Tunnels beach is just a short walk up the sand and you will pass the dty cave along the way. ⛱️⛰️

Shuttles were on time and picked us up on the way. This is the start of the Kalalau Trail. Great hike to the 300 foot Hanakapiai Falls. A challenging 6.5- 7 hour hike. A little tricky if wet. Well worth the effort.

I could sit here all day and just watch the surf. You have to bring your own shade, though. Nearby cave was fun to check out.

Absolutely gorgeous beach for sunbathing or reading. Would not reccomend swimming due to dangeous current. Walk a little ways down to Tunnels Beach for an absolutely unreal snorkeling experience and a beautiful swimming and gold sand beach! Definitely add this to your Kauai itinerary!

Spouting Horn Park is a must-visit scenic viewpoint in Hawaii, renowned for its spectacular blowhole that shoots water high into the air with a moaning sound. Legend has it that the moan is attributed to Mo'o, a giant female lizard trapped inside the blowhole. Visitors are warned to be cautious of slippery rocks and powerful waves near the blowhole. The park offers picnic tables and stunning views of this natural wonder formed by waves eroding softer rocks along the shoreline.
Awesome sight to see! Wasn't too crowded when we went 12ish on a Saturday. Restrooms were very clean and well maintained as were the grounds around the park. A few tables to sit at also if you'd like. Was not very crowded at all thankfully since I know sometimes it can be..but we had a beautiful view of Spouting Horn on a bright and sunny day. Would definitely recommend checking this gem on on your vacation!

So many chicken at the park. Once the car stop, they are rushing out from every directions. Be careful, don't ever feed them as the fine would be very high. The Sprouting Horn observation platform is few steps from parking lot. It is like a small sibling of the Old Faithful.
Qlv A — Google review
The spout was unique and what brought us, but the other sights were also very enjoyable. The variation in blue colors across the water was awesome, I would recommend some good polarized sunglasses and a low cloud cover. I could hangout there for hours and watch the waves crash along the rocky shore. We also saw a sea turtle down in the cove of the spout. The only downfall is that here isn't a lot of space where everithing can be seen, so we felt like we had limited time in the viewing area.
Chaz G — Google review
Very nice accessible park located near the Poipu area of Kauai. The main attraction is the Spouting Horn which is a blowhole with a big jet of water that looks much like a geyser. Thhe blowhole is very easy to drive to and observe, unlike the one on Maui. If you are near the park you should plan on a visit. There are picnic tables and real flush toilets in the park. Enjoy the visit.
Mike S — Google review
Spouting Horn is a beautiful and unique natural wonder on Kauai’s south shore! When the waves hit the lava rock at just the right angle, water shoots dramatically into the air through a blowhole, often reaching impressive heights — and sometimes you can even hear a deep, roaring sound. 🌊 It’s an easy stop with free parking, restrooms, and a short paved path to the viewpoint. There are also local craft stalls nearby if you want to pick up souvenirs. Sunset is especially magical here, with golden light reflecting off the spray. A quick but memorable stop — great for photos and a perfect addition to any south shore drive. 🌴💦📸

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spouting Horn Park – A Must-See Natural Wonder on Kaua‘i Spouting Horn Park is one of those iconic Kaua‘i stops that absolutely lives up to the hype. We visited recently and were blown away by how beautiful and unique the entire area is. Parking was surprisingly easy, which made the visit even more enjoyable — you can pull right in, take your time, and soak in the views without any stress. The overlook area offers a perfect vantage point of the famous blowhole, and watching the ocean force huge bursts of water through the lava rock was truly spectacular. Every wave brings a slightly different show, and the sound — a deep whoosh followed by a soft roar — adds to the energy of the place. It’s amazing to stand there and witness nature’s power up close while still feeling completely safe and comfortable. The surrounding coastline is equally stunning, with deep blue water, rugged rock formations, and panoramic views that make for great photos. There are also local vendors nearby offering handmade crafts, giving the stop a fun and welcoming atmosphere. Spouting Horn Park is an easy, quick visit, but one that leaves a big impression. As a Local Guide, I highly recommend making time for this spot — it’s accessible, beautiful, and a perfect example of Hawaii’s natural magic.

Anini Beach Park Campground is a must-visit destination for those seeking the best snorkeling experience in Kauai. With its expansive 2.5-mile reef, this North Shore beach offers calm and clear waters during the summer months, making it ideal for snorkeling and swimming. The protective reef also makes it popular among watersport beginners, providing sheltered conditions for activities like windsurfing.
A Hidden Gem on Kauai's North Shore Anini Beach is a true paradise tucked away on the North Shore of Kauai. This long, white sand beach is renowned for its calm, crystal-clear waters, making it a perfect spot for families and those seeking a tranquil escape. Here's what makes Anini Beach special: Protected Waters: A large reef protects the beach from strong currents, creating calm and safe swimming conditions, even for young children. Snorkeling Paradise: The shallow waters and vibrant coral reefs teem with marine life. Snorkelers can encounter colorful fish, sea turtles, and other fascinating creatures. Relaxing Atmosphere: Anini Beach offers a more laid-back vibe compared to some of the busier beaches on Kauai. It's a great place to unwind, sunbathe, and simply enjoy the beauty of the surroundings. Family-Friendly: With calm waters and plenty of space to play, Anini Beach is an excellent choice for families with children. Tips for Visiting: Arrive Early: To secure a good spot on the beach, especially on weekends. Pack Essentials: Bring sunscreen, hats, water, and snacks as there are limited amenities. Respect the Reef: Avoid touching or standing on the coral. Be Mindful of Currents: While generally calm, currents can be strong beyond the reef. Swim only in designated areas. Whether you're looking to relax, snorkel, or simply enjoy the beauty of the North Shore, Anini Beach is definitely worth a visit.

Fantastic beach. It's not very wide, but there is a lot of space on the grass above the beach with picnic tables and pavilions. The water is very shallow with a lot of broken coral, so be careful eating in it. The snorkeling here is great. We saw 2 turtles and lots of fish.
Peter C — Google review
We went to this beach to snorkel. There is a reef far enough out that it crushes the surf and creates a calm water beach that is easy to swim in.
Michael M — Google review
Quiet beach on the north end. Everyone seems to use the south end. I recommend the short drive the the north end for more parking and fewer people. Snorkeling was okay if you went out 100 yards plus. That's still inside the break. If the break is big it will get murky but still swimmable. Snorkeling is best around the boat channel edges (there's little to no traffic) and the north end of the beach.
Steve K — Google review
This beach the surf is not as aggressive as others. Lots of small and medium side coral on shore. Beautiful sunrise

Great place to snorkel and see Turtles!! Water is fairly shallow and calm. Visibility good on sunny days. Sadly people wear the wrong sunscreen and walk on the coral, so not much here. Not many fish either.

This was an amazing camping experience, especially compared to Salt Pond, where we were tightly packed into a small space and someone’s loud (drunk) voice kept everyone up all night. By contrast, Anini is much larger so people can spread out. Also, camping etiquette was excellent and it was silent by 7pm. It stayed silent all night. I felt safe and the location was excellent for exploring the North Shore.

Hanalei Colony Resort is a tranquil oceanfront retreat located in Haena, offering spacious condo-style units with full kitchens, 1.5 baths, and tropical furnishings updated by a Hawaiian design firm. The resort provides an outdoor pool and a local shuttle service. Nestled near Wainiha Beach Park, it offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
My husband and I stayed here for a full 10 days in June. We loved every second. I will be quick to say that this resort will not be for everyone, so do your research before booking. The rooms are more of a relaxed, older cottage vibe. If you are looking for modern luxury hotel accommodations, this will not be for you. Rooms are nice and clean. They serviced our room twice over the 10 days, but were very accommodating in switching out towels any time we asked. Paying for a premium oceanfront is 100% worth it. We had the most beautiful view and the sounds of the waves drowned out any other noise from the resort. Tunnels beach is in walking distance (30-45min walk). We did a sunset walk on many nights. Besides Hanalei, the location is far from other tourists areas - we did a lot of driving back and forth. This didn't bother us, as the quiet location was worth it. We enjoyed the north shore and hanalei the most. We ate dinner once at the on site restaurant - it was good, no complaints. All in all - beautiful, relaxing, peaceful and quiet. We look forward to going back again one day!

Book through Kauai Kahuna Vacation Rentals for a five star experience and avoid the in house management company. The front dest staff Jeinne was so rude and condescending upon our arrival we talked about trying to leave upon checkin. She should not work in hospitality or was having a really terrible day. If the welcome would have had a shred of Aloha, I would not be leaving this one star review. All I did was ask a question and I was giving a lecture why not to book on airbnb, eye rolls and hostile aggressive energy. We felt like our presence and simple question was a terrible inconvenience and it felt suggested we had done something wrong because we booked through their competitor. This resort is beatiful and we loved our room and experience. It's sad we had to spend our whole trip avoiding the rude office staff who manage it. Maybe they will hire people who demonstrate Aloha and hospitality and live up to the lovely property they manage. If you stay here I would suggest booking through Kauai Kahuna Vacation Rentals until the resort hires kind staff.

Beautiful remote area of the island. Old Hawaiian style. Rooms are quite dated. Bathrooms and shower small. They do have kitchenettes. Room was clean. Pay attention to room type. Like many hotels ocean view is not the same as oceanfront. Oceanview room also includes views off all the other units. All of which would be fine if office staff were friendly. Unwelcoming staff. Nice location. Would not recommend for the price and service.

Beautiful remote place. Even though we have a garden view we can still see the ocean and it's pure magic! The sound of the waves at night are like a lullaby. The bull frog outside our room is delightful and I'm feeling so connected to nature. I love that there are no tvs and no ac. It's exactly the medicine I need to reconnect with my self and nature and let go of the stresses of every day life. Such a beautiful place! Highly recommend!
Allison C — Google review
It's worth getting a beach facing room you can sleep with the windows open and hear the ocean and there's enough wind that it's super comfortable at night. So we could make food after going to the hanalei market. Wonderful little spot for a vacation. If you are Hardy you can walk 30 to 45 minutes to Tunnels Beach to go snorkling.
Kathryn M — Google review
Loved staying in this condo/resort set-up. Our unit was a stone's throw from a gorgeous beach, stunning views, and an occasional Monk seal sighting. We enjoyed having a full kitchen and access to grills, a pool, and a jacuzzi. The Day Spa was right across the parking lot, which was a bonus. We also took advantage of the free shuttle that brought us to Tunnels beach, hiking at Hanea state park, and Hanalei town for meals. The HCR rooms have no TVs which helped us take advantage of the amenities and time together. The unit is a little dated and the affects of moisture are apparent with some rust on hinges and lamps, but that didn't take away from our enjoyment. We would stay there again!
Jessica H — Google review
This is a wonderful place - the location, the beach, the accommodations and of course, the staff. We came for a relaxing romantic stay and we were not let down. The rooms are extremely well kept considering how close to nature you are - the lack of AC is nearly unnoticeable, especially at night. There is a wonderful sense of community between the rooms as well - any given sunset you'll see everyone on their porches enjoying the wonderful Kauai ocean views. I don't actually leave a lot of hotel/rental reviews but I had to for this one - it's just awesome. You are also extremely close to many great natural locations for hiking/sightseeing or just popping into Hanalei town for a damn good hang. The staff at Hanalei Colony resort took the time to get to know my partner and I, why we were there and went over and beyond to make our stay extremely comfortable and memorable. We'll be back - thinking of getting the entire extended family ohana there next time. Mahalo

Disappointing Experience — Highly Dependent on Room Location Our stay was very disappointing and largely due to the room we were assigned. While we booked and paid for an “ocean view” room, the view was barely visible—just a sliver of ocean if you looked far off into the distance. Instead, we were placed in a building next to the check-in office and right by a busy parking lot. It was one of the worst locations on the property. The constant noise from guests coming and going at even at late hours made it nearly impossible to sleep with the windows open, (which you have to do cause there is no AC) and the overall atmosphere felt far from relaxing. For the price we paid, we expected a much better experience. This property may have better rooms in other buildings, but it feels like a gamble. Unfortunately, we lost that gamble—and we won’t be taking that risk again. If you’re considering staying here, be very cautious about where your room is located.

Awesome little beach. Not busy and very quiet. It’s a reserve and I think that’s why it’s filled with crabs and mini clam shells. It’s something I don’t see at the busy beaches. What a cool find. Probably not family friendly but wow it is a peaceful spot that the critters can live. The parking lot has some sketchy people in it but they didn’t bother us.

This beach is a nice place to sunbathe,or cruise under the shady trees, having a barbecue, and some drinks. Kapaa New Town Park is the go-to spot for organized sports. The park boasts a decent-sized skate park which is almost always in use by skaters of all ages & abilities. On most evenings people will bring their own lights to set up, extending the use well past sundown, as well as speakers through which tunes are blasted to set the mood. There is an outdoor skate rink for hockey, roller derby, and the occasional "free skate." Right next to the rink are tennis courts, complete with sheltered (shaded) benches as well as ample lighting for after-dark play. The center of the park is dominated by multiple baseball diamonds, complete with proper dugouts, bleachers, and extra restrooms (located by the diamonds at the far end.) Rounding out the "sports complex" is a relatively new football stadium featuring full bleachers, score board and loudspeaker. Players can enjoy full locker facilities. Adjacent to the skate park is the major bus depot for kapaa, with plenty of covered seating, as well as a small parking area. The primary lot is located just around the corner, alongside the skating rink, tennis courts, and pavilion. The park is open from 6am-10pm, and the hours can be strictly enforced.

A small farmers market, but had plenty of delicious fruits and vegetables. Parking was easy and because it was a smaller market, it was easy to check out all the stalls. Like most farmers market, you'll find similar products from each of the stalls. So we just had to look for who had the better deals and to taste some of the products. My family and I were able to enjoy about an hour here at the market.

Hope they are able to give it a good refurbishing soon, several things are looking not only dated but also starting to fall apart, nothing major. The property is new and located in a secluded and scenic area, but the nearest beach is a bit away (5 min drive). The infrastructure and location are great but if you are travelling with family looking for a resort like experience this is not the place to be in, there is only 1 restaurant on the property (so limited options), there is no 24x7 room service, and your best bet is the nearest grocery store (Safeway) 11 min(drive) away. Personnel wise, it is hit or miss, some employees are great, others are less experienced. Housekeeping staff is a big problem, we had a 3 bed/3.5 bath apartment, they cleaned only 1 bathroom and “forgot” to clean the rest!! Next day they didn’t empty all the trash cans in the apartment!! When we asked for linen change on used beds, the front desk person said we do that weekly once(sanitation/hygiene?) and we can do daily for a charge, then he checked with a superior perhaps and then said we will do it, no charges sorry 😊 – hence my comment less experienced/new staff). In a nutshell, property is 5 stars for infra/scenery, great for a retirement/secluded living if you get all your grocery in. But if you are looking for pampered, 24x7 room service, and on demand service which we are used to in 5-star hotels, you will be disappointed. They need more time and training for the staff to reach the level of service expected from a conventional 5 star resort. This is a beautiful place for a daytime visit, think like a park/beach, eat lunch or dinner and go back home after taking lot of pictures, night stay/longer, there are better options.

This is a singular destination experience in Hawaii. The views are stunning, the accommodations are fantastic and the team members are incredibly friendly. There is a multitude of on site activities and one of the finest Nicklaus courses in the state. You can't go wrong here, the entire family will love it!

Gorgeous view of the ocean. We wound up in here by accident. We wanted to grab a happy hour drink in the area and by accident (and a few wrong turns) we found ourselves in this swanky hotel and residence. We went into the lobby/check-in area which hosted the bar and enjoyed some happy hours cocktails while taking in the beautiful view.

Poipu Kapili Resort offers luxurious one and two-bedroom condos with spacious, plantation-style designs. Each unit features floor-to-ceiling windows, private terraces, and full kitchens for a comfortable stay. Guests can enjoy the outdoor pool, tennis courts, barbecues, and community herb garden. The resort's ocean view swimming pool provides a stunning backdrop while being within walking distance of Kiahuna Beach and Koloa Landing.
We were in the oceanfront units so I can only speak to those. Best view I’ve ever had in Hawaii. We usually stay in a resort but this was much better value and convenient. Fully stocked kitchen with everything we needed. It was great to make our own breakfast and not blow $50 on resort eggs. Pool was a bit sad and yes, people park across the street and play music which is kinda annoying but not a deal breaker.

We have a decent size group and it was not easy to find a condo that could keep us close. They were great to work with the condo's are great. This is a great place to adventure out from. The he landscape is beautiful and well maintained. The pool area is kept clean and open and not always packed. The Internet has worked great allowing for streaming abilities.

Could’ve stayed a month! The units are independently owned so they are all different. We booked through Parish Kauai unit 59. It was gorg, I would recommend the two floor sea front units. Amazing views and whale watching…sleeping to the sound of ocean waves. The grounds were well kept, assigned parking, quiet relaxing pool. Walk to the beach. Hawaii sunsets galore. Great location to shops and restaurants. The onlyyyy thing to note is the road - it’s great for people watching, a few loud cars accelerating unnecessarily, but overall didn’t bother us too much. Would definitely come back.

This is the 3rd time we booked in Poipu Kapili thru Parish vacations. Very quiet, clean & in great location across the ocean.
Florie P — Google review
Stayed in unit 55. The unit is lovely and well equipped. Beach chairs, umbrellas, and coolers were thoughtfully provided. Beautiful view and grounds and a great location right across from the ocean. So why the two star rating? The unit is oppressively hot. There is only loud free standing AC units in each of the bedrooms. Their built in thermostat never read below 83 during the day (79 in the morning after running all night long) and the downstairs was nearly unusable even with two fans running non stop. The unit has a great washer and dryer, but using the laundry dryer was nearly impossible due to the extra heat generated. Unfortunately, I cannot recommended this property without an HVAC upgrade by the owners. Hawaii is hotter than years past, and trade winds don’t seem to cool things down like they used to, so full house AC is essential

My wife and I just stayed in #32 at the Poipu Kapili and it was a terrific experience. There is a wonderful view out the living room veranda of the beautiful grounds, including the swimming pool and beyond that the waves breaking on the ocean (see picture). We used the veranda and the raised patio furniture every morning for breakfast as it got the day started reminding us of the beauty of living next to the ocean. The condo itself has been recently renovated and has air conditioning in both the living room and the bedroom. It also has two big screen TV's, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. The furniture throughout is tropical and very comfortable. The mattress in the bedroom is new and very comfortable and there are great showerheads in both bathrooms. The kitchen has been upgraded and has a large refrigerator and the range looks brand new--and of course there are all of the appliances to live comfortably for long stays. Overall #32 is a place that I would recommend to anyone wanting a great place to stay in beautiful Poipu, Kauai.

Our beautiful 2 bedroom 2 bath condo was spacious with full kitchen and laundry equipment. Our daily needs were all met. The complex was quiet and we could see the beach during our morning coffee. We enjoyed walking about the lush landscaping. We enjoyed shopping at the local Big Save just 7 minutes away. All of our favorite points of interest were no farther than 1 or 2 hours away. Historic St. Raphael's was an easy 20 minute drive on Christmas and New Year's for Mass. Enjoyed and Recommending.

Nestled at the entrance of Waimea, Lucy Wright Park holds a significant place in history as the site where Captain James Cook first arrived in Hawaii back in 1778. Interestingly, while it bears the name of an active community member rather than its famous visitor, this park offers a unique blend of natural beauty and historical significance. Located near the mouth of the Waimea River, visitors can enjoy stunning views where freshwater meets the ocean.
People were warning us about this place, with how sketchy it was, but honestly, it wasnt bad. Granted, it was a weird site, literally on an old baseball field. I felt safe. While there were a few people who were likely homeless, they didn't bother us or make us feel uncomfortable. In a pinch, this is a fine place to camp.
Jon — Google review
I camp there and overall it was fine. I was kind of scared at first because of all the bad review and people talking about the "rough crowd" hanging there, but really it is not worst than the other camping in kauai. The location is depressing (old baseball field) but it will do for a night or two of cheap camping (3$ a night)

the sand was a black/green color. Waves were very rough. it is very much a place where more locals are at with canoes.
Jaiden H — Google review
It was the only camping spot left on the island but when we showed up, a local immediately warned us to be careful and watch our car. We spent maybe 45 minutes there- even set up our tent - but then decided to move on. Seemed liked it might get noisy after dark and that we might regret staying there. Not a place I wanted to spend a day of my vacation and risk loosing any valuables or getting a bad night's sleep. $3 per pserson.
Julie G — Google review
We got a permit to camp here and were later told that it’s actually too dangerous to stay due to incidents with people attacking campers. We had to scramble for a place to camp at the last minute, which is actually fairly difficult because everything in Hawaii books up quickly. I ended up begging a nearby campground to let us camp on their land even though they were full.
Aubrey M — Google review
It's a local park the contains a ball field and a few old cement 'picnic' tables. There is access to the beach and adjoins the inlet. A local yachting club has a small building and kids were gathering to get their boats ready. There is nothing to see here and would be hesitant to come after dark. The Russian Fort Elizabeth State Historical Park is across the inlet.

It is a mess. The historical park in a historical city and county will closed down on April 30th for an upgrade. It really needs it. But the county government shouldn't throw the no income homeless people to the street. I wish i could have helped.

Great little tucked away park. We played at the playground with our 4 yr old twins and had a wonderful time. Baseball/Softball fields were maintained well. Soccer fields too. Public restrooms were available but weren't the cleanest. Plenty of parking available too. Will definitely be back!

Black Pot Beach, located in Hanalei Bay, is a popular spot for beach activities and relaxation. It offers amenities such as swimming areas, picnic spots, kayak tours, and showers. The beach is sandwiched between the historic Hanalei Pier and the mouth of the Hanalei River. Lifeguards are stationed at various points along the beach to ensure safety. Visitors can also find bathroom facilities on-site.
This is the colder end of the bay. Due to the proximity of the river nearby this part tends to be colder. When the waterfalls can be seen on the mountain it will be a good 10 degrees colder on this end but the view of the waterfalls is spectacular. If you cross the river and find the path it will take you to snorkeling on the Regis beach.
Tiffany R — Google review
Definitely a popular beach around sunset. You can get some nice pictures with the pier, the mountians, and the sunset all in frame. But don't expect it to be quiet, and I thought these restrooms were particularly bad, even for a beach. Worth a visit for pictures, but there are far better beaches on the island.
Will H — Google review
This was our second place "go-to" spot since it was a tad closer to our Princeville stay than our first place go-to. It is such a chill place-except the parking. You can find a spot but it can be quite distant. It's a very popular spot. For surfing it does have a very chill swell (left of the pier) leftover from the main break far out on the reef on the right (depending on the swell and its direction). During our 10 day stay it did have a pretty strong current right close to the pier which is useful for paddling out to the breaks. Again, it's busy so expect occasional party waves. You can jump off the pier but just know that the current fights you a little bit getting back to the ladder, the ladder which is quite painful to climb, haha! We really enjoyed our time here.

Nice pool for laps, not family friendly. If you have young kids they do not allow flotation devices of any kind for them( life jackets, puddle jumpers, any kind at all) so be prepared to hold your non swimmers. I have 3 non swimmers this was a problem. Also no stairs only latters. Lap swimmers are allowed a floating device which didn't make sense.

The spacious suites can accommodate up to four people and feature fully equipped kitchens, including dishwashers for added convenience. Guests can enjoy easy access to beautiful beaches just a short walk away, making it a comfortable home away from home in Hawaii.
Hidden Fees – Dishonest and Unacceptable! We booked through Agoda and paid $838 for three nights, including “taxes and fees.” After we checked out, we were shocked to find an additional $377 charged to our credit card for a so-called “cleaning fee” — nearly 45% of the total cost. At no point during check-in, during our stay, or at check-out were we informed of this charge, nor did we receive a receipt or any written notice about it. In fact, the only thing made clear at check-in was that no cleaning services would be provided during our stay. When we called the hotel after we completed the trip and saw the charges on our credit card, we were told the fee is buried under “Additional Property Policies” on Agoda — which feels intentionally vague. This is a huge hidden fee and completely deceptive. We will not stay here again and urge others to be extremely cautious.
Kasandra K — Google review
Very outdated and musty smelling room. Beware of the undisclosed 'cleaning fee' of $377 for a one bedroom rental (more if you booked a two bedroom). See the nasty pictures of the bathroom faucet, dishrack, and side of the refrigerator to see what the almost $400 cleaning fee will get you at this place. You have have been warned. Do not trust the rating on Booking.com or Priceline.com. We did and we are paying the price for it.
Huy V — Google review
The room was decent but had no AC - yes, no AC. It was not suffocating at night thanks to the drafts but hello humidity and mosquitoes. The staff was unpleasant and unhelpful, doing everything begrudgingly. We had to pretty please them to keep our luggage for a few hours after we checked out - I'd never seen anything like that before. The room was pretty expensive due to hidden and risible "cleaning fees." The hotel is well located in Poipu, with access to a nice little beach, but it's not worth the price nor the drama.
Olivier C — Google review
The resort and location are prime and even without air conditioning it doesn’t disappoint. What I will warn you about are resort fees. I booked on Priceline and paid all of the reservation for two nights. However upon check-in was hit with resort cleaning fees that literally doubled the cost of the rooms. Nothing anywhere that covered this happening and nothing you can do when you’re standing there. They told me I could take it up with Priceline and I will but don’t want you caught in the same situation.

The property is old and in dire need of updating. The condo itself was dark, dank and had extremely poor lighting. The only natural light came from the sliding glass doors on the balcony. Shutters were an old brown in need of repainting. The cabinets were peeling away. The kitchen had barely any cooking utensils. The shower was unclean. The shower curtain was moldy. The outdoor lighting was bad. It was hard to navigate stairs. Location of the condo was facing a parking lot. The pool/gym was across the street and dirty. The reservation desk was extremely unhelpful. When asked for recommendations about what to do, we were handed a magazine. These condos are individually owned and overseen by a property management , so once you book with a 3rd party, i.e. - booking.com, you have no one to talk to about the condition of the room.
Janie S — Google review
Hidden cleaning fee of $377.00!! That more than doubled our price. They said it was in the fine print. But we never could find it on the Priceline web page.
Dave M — Google review
Disappointing Experience – Hidden Fees and Poor Customer Service While the hotel itself is a nice place to stay with great amenities, my experience was marred by hidden fees and subpar customer service that left a sour taste in what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation. We booked our stay through Booking.com, selecting the option that included "fees and taxes," expecting everything to be covered. However, upon check-in, we were handed an additional mandatory cleaning fee of $316. The hotel insisted that this was not included in the price, despite the clear indication on the booking page. At that point, we were stuck. Our reservation was non-refundable for day-of check-in, so we had no choice but to pay. I spent the first few days of our trip trying to resolve the issue with the hotel's corporate customer service. I was passed around from person to person, and after several frustrating exchanges, the final response was that they couldn’t do anything about the error and that Booking.com had displayed the pricing incorrectly. This lack of accountability and the unwillingness to amend the fee was extremely disappointing. It felt like a clear misrepresentation, and the hotel did nothing to make it right. What's worse, on the last day of our stay, a cockroach crawled out of the kitchen drawers—just another point that added to the frustration. It’s truly a shame because the hotel itself is decent, but the poor customer service and hidden charges really overshadowed the positives. I would recommend potential guests be very cautious when booking and ensure they fully understand what’s included in the price.

I stayed in a private room, it’s not managed by the hotel so the guests have to call that private individual when lining or towels are needed. I called them at least 3 times, I left the messages due to nobody picked the phone, requesting shampoo, soap, towels etc. I never got any response. Also there’s a service fee $94.00 when in reality there’s no service provided, the guest has to take all trash to dispose in the dumpsters. There’s no microwave in the rooms that can be useful, there’s a little coffee maker and a very small fridge. There is no transportation provided from or to the airport which is 5 minutes away. Food in the hotel is very pricey, there are a couple of hot tubs which I enjoyed.

Nice place but I would not consider it a resort. Takes a bit to get used to it. Although there’s a beach, not recommended for swimming. There are other beaches nearby but you need your own transportation. No “resort” shuttles anywhere, including to or from the airport which is 5 minutes away. We rented a car and were here mostly to sleep. Amazing sunset and cool entertainment!!!

The room (2417) I stayed in was privately owned so it had an outside cleaning service you would have to contact. In general, the room was in need of some upgrade repairs but it was clean. This unit overlooked a roof, so the view wasn't great although you could see some green areas. I did miss it not having a microwave as I would bring back leftovers from the main town. The resorts restaurant is very pricey but the food was pretty good. The private resort beach was a plus for me.

This is only MY PERSONAL OPINION on my experiences during my most recent vacation, Feb 28-Mar 9. I Love love love the island of Kauai and The Kauai Beach Villas & Resort is my favorite place to stay. I haven't stayed in a resort room, but my family rents one of the privately owned condos that is located on Resort Property every winter. This year due to my disability limitations I spent quite a bit of my holiday in or at the resort. Now on to the Good & the Meh-it's okay: First, The Good Stuff - One of the most affordable resorts on island with private owned condos/aprtmnts rentable for any length stay; 2 restaurants with upscale ambience on property; Gift/snack Shop on property; E Kanakapila held here in the ballroom every Monday night; Big Tropical Decor Lobby that has multiple, comfy conversation areas & opens to the Pool Garden; the beach is never busy so i could always find a private spot under a small tree or bush; Amazing swimming & spa pool area that's super relaxing & refreshing by day & oh so romantic after dark (+No one kicked me out when I was sitting by the pool until midnight); A twisting water slide, that my nieces & nephews just loved, that shoots you into the 3 foot deep wade-in saltwater pool; Same area was the best place for lounging when I didn't feel like getting sand in my crevices. The pool areas also have an amazing pool bar/food stand server gal who took such great care of me; (I'm pretty sure if you're staying in a resort room you can charge to room throughout your stay so no need to lug & keep track of a wallet; Plenty of Private-ish spots on the beach at sunrise if you like to wake and bake to start your day or for sure after dark I could chief it up pretty much anywhere (I mostly sat on the smokers bench at the beach entry) or have your morning coffee out on your Lanai & enjoy the beauty (So Gorgeous); Gift Shop has some nice little souvies for an okay price for the island (I'd definitely look around here 1st, then the Hawaii Souvie area in Walmart & other local shops around the island, go back to resort shop for last minute forgotten/anything you didn't find elsewhere. The Not So Great - BEWARE AVOID Gift shop on Monday (E Kanikapila) evenings. My 1st day shopping experience was nice, no pressure & very laid back. I bought a nice hat/T-shirt combo and got a super cute tie-dye hoodie 50%off. BUT...the next Monday they were overly "up in my business" dude was following me around blatantly staring from 2 feet away. He peppered me with question after question like: where I'm from, where I'm staying, what building I'm in, how many am I with, blah blah blah. I still have bad social anxiety since I had COVID 2 years ago & that dude totally didn't help. Disappointingly, I didn't get a Hula Girl for my boyfriends car because I was so upset; Watch you don't get a bottom floor room on the Northside of the Resort building. The hallway is super closed in and feels like you're below deck on a cruise ship & room windows, if any, seem minimal. This was a wonderful , relaxing and refreshing wellness retreat for me! Mahalo!

The only way to go!! Jocelyn was an amazing awesome employee working poolside! She greeted you with a big Aloha smile everyday and she absolutely loved her job! She is an amazing asset to the Resort!! I loved following the path down to the Ocean every evening! We will definitely stay at this Resort on our return visit to Kauai!!

IT IS A SCAM AND TRAP! This room is in a hotel but owned and managed by a private person! It is filthy and dirty. Electrical wires coming out of the wall, electrical sockets not fixed, dirty stains on the floor, private stuff from the owner in the closet (vacume cleaner, pictures, etc.)

Swimming pool
Waimea Swimming Pool is a popular outdoor lap pool located in a scenic area that requires a 4WD high clearance vehicle to access. The pool offers great swimming and water walking opportunities, with professional and vigilant lifeguards on duty at all times. Visitors can enjoy basic facilities including showers and dressing rooms, and are advised to bring their own chairs. While the pool is often filled with kids after school, it's also frequented by locals looking to relax on hot days.
Always have a good experience, I do my own exercises due to my schedule not able to attend their aqua class & pool staff & lifeguards are very professional & helpful. Always very vigilant & keep pool very clean & safe!!!

This is so dumb a 9 year old needs a parent watching them bro life guards are on there shift so what is the point of having a 18+ person watch them? This should have a 1

While swimming may be challenging due to rough waters, it is an ideal spot for experienced surfers, boogie boarders, and kite surfers. Historically significant as a stop for canoes navigating towards Oahu, this beach park holds a central location in Kapaa town.
