Guest house
Vamos Guest House is a modern and well-maintained guesthouse located in the developing neighborhood of Lideta in Addis Ababa. The 20 guestrooms offer comfortable accommodations with amenities such as digital television and complimentary Wi-Fi. Guests can enjoy a standard continental breakfast in the charming dining area and benefit from the helpful and friendly staff. While some maintenance may be needed for the rooms, this guesthouse provides a pleasant stay overall.
Travelled in Sep/Oct 2019 (I'm lazy with reviews). The staff are so nice and friendly. Breakfast in the dining area (if you don't sleep in). For a couple of $ you can get your luggage taken to your room. Plenty of restaurants and tea houses around. I absolutely loved it here. That was my first trip to Africa and I look forward to going back.

Super sweet guest house, very clean and everything works. The staff is super friendly and uncomplicated. Best guest ive ever been in👏👏👏 5 stars in any aspects well deserved 💪 definitely coming back here 🤩❤️

I stayed for 20 days and average review is 3. sometimes 4. I like the room and cleanliness of the hotel. Good price and room is clean, breakfast is provided. However, if I mention some miner faults here, WIFI is currently not stable in some rooms; good in some rooms and weak in some rooms; but according to the manager he will improve WIFI soon. Hot water supply fluctuates; but again the manage is planning to fix the problem soon. I faced lack of electricity problems for a few days but this problem was completely solved thanks to the manager’s effort; now no problem regarding electricity. The manager is a person who makes lots of effort to meet customers requests and I saw improvements. I will come back to stay here in 2 months as I know I can see improvement and if so I will edit my review to 4/5.

I stayed at the Vaomos guest house on December 12th before my departure from Adis Ababa. This place is relatively new and in very good condition. Modern design and very clean. It is located in a neighbourhood that is being reconstructed. The bathrooms are very clean and plenty of hot water. Wifi available. The breakfast is standard fare - eggs, toast coffee and tea - served in a cute little dining area. The staff are very helpful and kind. They allowed late check out so that I could tour the city before my afternoon flight. The price is surprisingly reasonable. I recommend this place.
Deborah K — Google review
Stayed on the guest house located in Lideta. My room didn’t have water for two days in row. I don’t know how they expect guests to take shower or flush sink or even wash face. Find some other place. Not good for the price you they put out.
Fekadesilassie A — Google review
Rooms are a good size but need a little bit of maintenance. Receiving our food for breakfast was slow. Overall it was a nice place to stay and I would return.
Chelsea B — Google review
It is 30.00 us$ per night. People are nice. The free breakfast needs some work. I think it was the cooks first day with no training.

Probably the best place to stay in Addis. I was very happy in my days in Vamos, a prime base to explore Addis Abeba, a city that I liked also, perhaps because I stayed in such a nice guesthouse. Vamos is full of good vibes. Everybody is nice and pleasant. Staff is professional and efficient, and as I said, always smiley and friendly. The manager is a honest fellow who will help the guests, provide information, solve any problem. Actually we really went out of his way to provide me help, in circumstances which do not need to be told here. The location is outstanding, one of the the best things here. If you like to walk you can just go to the main spots in the center, it will be around 2-3 km. Otherwise, you have two MRT stations at less than 500 meters. How convenient is this!? And although there is no restaurant in Vamos, there is one next door with a good variety of food and drinks. The surroundings are great, lots of local shops and a friendly atmosphere. The rooms are nice, there is good hot water and the best Internet I had in 20 days in Ethiopia. Breakfast was good, simple but tasty and prepared with love every morning. Nights were quiet and I slept well. Honestly, this is the place to stay in the city and I dare to say, the cost-quality ratio is just unbeatable. I loved it and wanted to stay there in my last night in Ethiopia but fortunately (for them, therefore for me, because they are lovely) they were fully booked.

Kefetew Guest House is a charming and unique accommodation option in Addis Ababa. The individually decorated rooms reflect the artistic touch of the owner, creating a vibrant and cozy atmosphere. Guests appreciate the personalized service, with special mentions for the delicious homemade breakfast and friendly staff. The rooftop terrace offers a lovely spot to unwind, while the attention to detail throughout the guest house ensures a comfortable stay.
I do not do Guest Houses. I prefer the luxury and comfort of large hotels and resorts. With that being said... WOW! This place is amazing! The owner is an artist and the decor reflects someone with an eye for color and attention to details. Our host arranged for my wife and I to be picked up at the airport with a driver who had a sign with our name on it (important because the airport was busy with unmarked taxi drivers). The road in front of the guest house is unfinished as a result of the government declaring the street “eminent domain” so be prepared for some bumps. How to describe our host: think of your aunt who travels the world, speaks Amharic and English, and is equally likely to have a cake made for your anniversary as challenge your view of the world. Our host Ms. Ganet is indispensable. Everything from transportation to food to entertainment to shopping ASK HER! I have no idea how big this place is, but our suite has an en suite bathroom, bedroom and living room with two couches. This sets a high standard for my expectations in Ethiopia.
TAWAN P — Google review
As a tour guide, I had guest to show Addis Ababa to collect from Kefetew Guest House. Tried to find the location in Google Map. I reached the area but it took me a while to find the specific place, being very close to it, because there was NO SIGN. My guest who stayed at the guest house enjoyed the service and the rooms so much

Cheers Bed & Breakfast is a cozy accommodation located in the Bole district of Addis Ababa, just a short walk from attractions like Medhane Alem Church and Selam City Mall. The property offers free Wi-Fi and convenient on-site parking. Guests can enjoy delicious meals at the on-site restaurant or opt for room service during limited hours. The friendly staff are always ready to assist with airport transfers, trip reservations, and any other inquiries about the area.
Close to the airport, nice neighborhood. Rooms clean. Good contact with the owner. I recommend it.

Big room, with no tv. A basic bathroom. First night, no hot showers and it rained that night. So it was a very cold night. WiFi is available. On the 2nd floor, so walking up the stairs wasn't my cup of tea. I hope mosquito nets are ptovided because there were mosquitoes at night. A good basic breakfast to choose from: opted for Americano coffee and French toast.
Fiona B — Google review
I recommend it to those looking for a strategic location in the commercial area of Boli at simple economic costs for comfortable and quiet housing. And a classy owner.
SADIG S — Google review
I hate it. I was denied breakfast. Also my fiance didn't get a shuttle to the airport. I see the owner was not treating the workers nicely. The receptionist applied what he told to do from his boss. I do not blame the workers out there when I give less grade for their service.
Abraham M — Google review
Great location and personal attention from the owner. Hotel has restaurant attached with some of the best burgers in Addis. In walking distance to the airport and very central location with plenty of bars/restaurants next door. Hands down would recommend to any visiting Ethiopia on a budget.
Jhonathan C — Google review
We stayed for one night. It was clean and had hot water. We were denied breakfast however. The reception desk said breakfast was not included when we inquired in the morning. Left hungry and disappointed, and cheated. It also does not include airport transportation, so if you read somewhere that it does, that’s not true.
Linda T — Google review
Amazing place to stay very close to airport (you can walk there). Clean and comfortable rooms at a ice price. An extremely friendly and helpful host that speaks perfect English; he even let us borrow his cellphone during a day to make a few calls to arrange our trip. Showed us around at night! Nothing else to ask! A perfect stay!
Javier A — Google review
I stayed in August 2018. The manager offered to pick and drop us at the airport . He even waited for more than 2 hours due to a delay in our flight. The hotel is very clean and has friendly staff even though they couldn't speak English very well. They made sure we are attended to always. Good internet connection and perfect location.

Arequ Guest House is a lovely guest house with friendly and professional service. Rooms are clean and well furnished, and there is a communal chill area for guests. The guest house has lovely rooms, great service, and is very clean.
A Home Away From Home! Tryst Boutique is a charming escape into a world of rustic comfort. From the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor is beautifully rustic, with tasteful antique accents. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating, going above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay. The owner, Sarah, is particularly helpful and knowledgeable about the local area, providing excellent recommendations for dining and activities. The rooms are cozy and well-appointed, with comfortable beds and all the necessary amenities. The attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the hotel, from the fluffy towels to the delicious breakfast served each morning. Whether you're seeking a romantic getaway or a peaceful retreat, Tryst Boutique is the perfect place to unwind and recharge.

Avoid this place at all costs. Worst "hotel" I've ever been to. I booked on Agoda. I got there at around 9PM and the guys at the front had no idea about my booking. They asked me for $60 even though i had already paid on agoda (I didn't pay them). They took me up to the room and the staff was still scrambling about setting it up. The room wreeked of cigarettes. It was swarming with mosquitoes. Very noisy place in very run down neighbourhood. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. The toilet was filthy. They had left what seemed to be a used towel in there for me to use. I ended up booking another hotel because of how much of a nightmare this place was. They refused to refund me the money.
Bahjat A — Google review
Really clean, really friendly, lovely rooms and good food. It's a gem and a life saver especially if you've been slumming it in budget accommo in other places. It's an oasis in the city and the staff are amazing, the showers work and the rooms are so well furnished and decorated. Communal chill area makes it really feel homely. Would absolutely recommend :)
Stephanie W — Google review
Beautiful Design, Disappointing Service The hotel has a gorgeous rustic and vintage design — exactly my style — but the service was very disappointing. The shower didn’t work, and in the morning, all the staff were asleep. We had to wake them up ourselves. The night before, we were told there would be several breakfast options, but in the morning, they said only one or two were available — and not what we were expecting. The manager later admitted it was supposed to be included, but by then, we had no time left. When we asked to speak to the owner, the manager said we could, but “she won’t do anything.” Beautiful place, but very poorly managed. It was not worth it!!
Meseret A — Google review
A group of us were passing thru Addis Ababa to catch a flight early the next morning. This clean guesthouse was able to accommodate all 15 of us comfortably overnight. The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. This guest house is conveniently located close to the airport.
Rome O — Google review
Perfect gateway hotel in Addis. We enjoyed our stay. Amazing accommodation with great city view, close to the airport, delicious food and outstanding service. Will definitely stay here again.
Meron Z — Google review
Warm welcomes, clean rooms and a bang-up breakfast in the morning is what to expect. It is somewhat remote from some of the more traveller oriented locales in Addis, but the ladies are more than helpful when it comes to making travel arrangements.
T G — Google review
It’s not safe, Honestly I don’t recommend it, on 18/05/2023, our stuff have been stolen from the rooms (3-6)and the empty bags was found in different room (5). When we complained to police the owner and her friends tried to terrify us and they were like an organised gang.

Victoria Guesthouse Apartments, located in Sarbet, Addis Ababa, offers a comfortable stay with various amenities. The property features a restaurant, steam room, sauna, and fitness center for guests to enjoy. With its close proximity to the Addis Ababa Golf Course and the AU headquarters, it provides convenience for travelers. Guests can indulge in continental and American breakfast options each morning and take advantage of free private parking, shuttle service, and WiFi.
I stayed at Victory Guesthouse Apartments in May 2022 for 5 days and very happy with my stay. What impressed me the most was the cleaning staff honesty. The day I was going to check out I forgot my wallet in the counter assuming no one would clean the room but came back to find out that the room was cleaned and nothing missing. I found out that the management take care of the staff as part of a family which explained why the staff is loyalty to the the establishment. The owner and the management deserve a kudo. I also want to thank you the management for extending my check out time to late in the day knowing my flight was in the evening. In addition they have a clean and great shuttle service with a pleasant driver like Eyob. If I travel to Addis I will definitely stay again and recommend this guest house to anyone who travel to Addis Ababa. Thank you all for making my 5 days stay a comfortable one. Amesegnalhu

My family and I stayed in the family suite at Victoria Guest House in Addis Ababa for one week during our recent trip to Ethiopia. I’ve stayed in many hotels in the Bole area, but after lots of careful research, I chose this one in a different part of the city - and I’m so glad I did. We had a fantastic stay, and I couldn’t recommend this hotel more, especially for travellers with small children! Highlights of the Hotel: - The building is secure, and you’re warmly welcomed by the friendly reception staff. - There’s an elevator, which is especially handy when travelling with suitcases and kids. - The family suite is spacious, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, and a kitchen—plenty of room for my daughter to play. - The suite is well-equipped with basic cooking gear, a washing machine, and a drying rack—super helpful if you like to prepare your own meals or do laundry during your stay. - The rooms are clean and well maintained, and the cleaning staff were wonderful. - We loved the addition of real plants in the suite—it added a warm and homey touch. - The WiFi connection was strong, there was always hot water for showers, and we didn’t experience any power outages. - There’s a free, well-stocked gym on the 7th floor, and the breakfast menu offered great variety. Breakfast was included in our booking, which was a huge plus. - The staff—from the front door to management and restaurant personnel—were kind, service-oriented, and always willing to help. If I had to point out a few areas for improvement, they would be: - The bathrooms could benefit from minor maintenance to prevent water from leaking during showers and to secure some door handles. - It would be great to have a few more cooking utensils for guests staying longer-term. We had what we needed for a week, but an extended stay might require more. Highlights of the Location: -The hotel is located in Sarbet, near several embassies, the Addis Ababa Golf Club, and the International Community School of Addis Ababa. - It’s close to two malls: Lafto Mall, which has restaurants, shops, a gym, a spa, and a fantastic indoor play area for kids called Tiny Town, and Adams Pavilion, which offers a range of shops and a café. - Fantu Supermarket is within walking distance for groceries and essentials. - There’s a lovely ice cream shop, a café next door with great food and coffee, and a pizzeria across the street that even has a coloring station for little ones. - There are also plenty of banks on the hotel’s street, and parking is available on-site. Thank you for a wonderful stay. This will be our go-to hotel in Addis Ababa from now on!

Had my parents stay here when they were visiting. Nice rooms. Great location. Not too noisy considering it’s a busy area. The owner was very kind... my parents (usually the 5-star hotel type) were very happy with their stay here.
Lincoln V — Google review
Being away from Addis for over twenty years, going back was quite an experience. One of the best time I had was at Victoria Guest House. All the staff were so welcoming and professional. The place is at a proximal distance of AU and the airport. The guest house is so neat, room service is available 24/7, close to many shopping areas, the wi-fi in our room was excellent, in general it's a place anybody can feel comfortable to stay.
Beth T — Google review
Beware! If you're going on the cold season please maybe sure your room has hot water No hot water for 2 nights of my 3 night stay. Reception sent someone up twice and they managed to get lukewarm water running. By the time I was ready to take a shower, the water was freezing cold again. In spite of this, reception refused to change my room. The room was finally changed after much heated discussion and phone calls to some senior executive.

It was wonderful! The staff were so friendly and helpful, and the rooms are so big. The bed was comfortable, and it everything was super clean. I highly recommend!

Choice Guest House Addis Ababa, located in Gotera, offers a comfortable and affordable stay amidst the bustling city. The guest house provides clean rooms with the option for daily cleaning and additional services like food and laundry upon request. Guests can enjoy breakfast with warm dishes and local specialties on-site. The staff is known for their excellent service, making visitors feel at home. The beautiful surroundings include shops and eateries, while the guest house itself remains secluded.
I highly recommend it. They offer delicious meals. The rooms are well maintained and clean.
Ewelina K — Google review
Tucked away behind the Gotera intersection this guest house is a hidden gem. Actually there are 2 locations close to each other and both are equally charming. The location closest to the garage on the main road at the top of the lane is older and more basic but clean, well maintained and with hot water. For a budget guest house it has to be the best deal in Addis Ababa. The 2nd, newer location is a little further down the lane, quieter and more up market. The rooms are spacious with wood used throughout, fitted with fridge and sink unit to make a homely and liveable feel. The service at both locations is very good. Both locations have pleasant smoking areas. It may be a good idea to call and book as it seems quite popular which is no surprise given the value for money. Gotera as a location may seem a little out of the way but it is easy and quick to get to Bole Rd and the local area has lots of old style shops and restaurants etc. Fully recommended.
Colin G — Google review
Rooms are kept clean (cleaned everyday if requested). Food/laundry service is provided per request (additional cost). I stayed for over 2+ months. I saw different things but considered Choice to be a good deal. It's fairly cheap and in a good location.
Yonnas — Google review
The surrounding area is full of shops and food and plenty of amazing people, but the Choice Guest House truly delivers a comfortable affordable place to stay that is secluded amongst all the bustle. The staff in my book (I have pretty high standards) are very good at making you feel comfortable with whatever you need AND there is no question that they enjoy their job. If you have a chance to stay, you will not be disappointed.

Wib Guesthouse, located in Addis Ababa, is a comfortable accommodation option offering a seating area and private entrance for guests' convenience. The guesthouse provides amenities such as free WiFi, private parking, and an electric vehicle charging station. While not luxurious, the guesthouse offers cleanliness, comfortable bedding, and good service at a reasonable price. Haile, the owner, is known for his helpfulness and honesty. Guests can enjoy complimentary coffee or tea anytime during their stay.
Definitely recommend! You can go to a fancy hotel, but in my eyes you feel way more connected to Addis when staying here. The owner is amazing, always available for a chat and he knows many good restaurants/cafes closeby. The staff helps you out with organizing taxis and other practical issues. Also you can be picked and dropped from the airport.

A Safe, Spotless Haven in the Heart of the City I recently stayed at this guesthouse for several weeks and cannot recommend it enough! From the moment I arrived, I felt completely at ease thanks to its safe environment and immaculate cleanliness. The guesthouse truly has everything you need for a comfortable stay – I never found myself lacking a single amenity. What sets this place apart is its tranquil inner courtyard, a serene oasis that invites you to unwind. Despite its central location in the bustling city, the courtyard adds a charming, peaceful vibe that makes you forget the urban hustle just steps away. It’s the perfect spot to relax with a book or enjoy a morning coffee. The staff here are exceptional. Everyone, from the front desk to housekeeping, is friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to help. A special shout-out to Haile, who went above and beyond with his local tips and warm hospitality. His recommendations for hidden gems in the city were spot-on and made my stay even more memorable. Overall, this guesthouse strikes the perfect balance between convenience, comfort, and charm. Thank you to the entire team for such a pleasant experience – I’ll absolutely be back on my next visit to the city. If you’re looking for a home away from home, look no further!

Very nice, comfortable, safe and clean Guesthouse to stay in Addis Ababa. Rooms are nice and clean, the area (sholla) feels safe, and Hailie at the reception has the best reccomandations and advices for the city. The staff is very nice and offers free tea and coffee and also breakfat. Really loved my stay at Wib Guesthouse.

Without any doubt, the place to stay in Addis Ababa. It's a guesthouse, so don't expect luxury, but expect cleanliness, a good bed and toilet and amazing service, also a good price. Haile, the owner, is a great man that will help you with everything you may need, he's good English and is very knowledgeable about many things, and the most important thing, very honest. The workers are also very nice and servicing. You get free coffee or tea anytime. Very recommended.

Absolutely amazing experience! Haile was an exceptional host—warm, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable. He and the two young men working with him went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. Every detail was thoughtfully taken care of, and their hospitality truly exceeded expectations. The rooms were spotless and comfortable, and even when I needed help beyond typical hotel services, they were more than willing to assist. Haile’s insight into traveling in Ethiopia was invaluable. He guided me on which areas were safe, recommended great local restaurants that were both delicious and affordable, and shared rich, meaningful insights into the everyday lives of the local people. I learned so much about the country’s economic conditions and history through our conversations. The neighborhood was friendly, welcoming, and felt very safe. Overall, this was not just a stay—it was a deeply enriching experience. I can’t recommend it enough!

Great host, most professional we've had in our two weeks in Ethiopia! Airport pick-ups and drop offs help to facilitate a smooth experience. Rooms are decent, including a desk and a nice en-suite bathrooms with hot water.

Haile and his team are amazing and extremely attentive and sweet. I really enjoyed my stay at Wib Guesthouse! It is very comfortable and clean with a nice courtyard, and I loved the extra (and thoughtful) services like pickup and dropoff to your next location. 🌟
Selome A — Google review
・The pick-up time is not kept, (So I had to call from the airport. After the phone call, I was made to wait outside in the middle of the night for about 20 minutes. it was cold ・the room lock is broken, (He was fixing the screw on the door of his room with a screwdriver, but it was broken again the next day.) ・The entrance door is translucent glass. When the lights are turned on, people outside can see what's going on inside. ・The window curtains are small and full of gaps, so you can easily see inside the room from the outside. I can't relax. ・2 of the 3 lights in the bathroom are broken, dark and smelly ・there are various kinds of insects, spiders, etc. ・No one at the front desk after 22:00 (probably earlier) ・ No security box ・Even if there are several staff members, only the host knows where hair dryers are located. The host is not on the premises. Even if you want to borrow a hair dryer, you have to wait for the staff to call the host and wait for him to bring the hair dryer by car.

The Sheraton Addis, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Addis Ababa, offers a serene retreat with 10 dining options, an outdoor pool, and a spa for unwinding and rejuvenation. It is known for its tranquil setting and top-notch wellness facilities, providing a perfect escape for relaxation and pampering. The hotel has hosted numerous heads of state, royalty, and international celebrities from across the world due to its reputation as one of the best events and conferences places in Ethiopia.
We had a wonderful stay at the Sheraton Addis to kick off our honeymoon! The room was spacious and clean, with a beautiful balcony overlooking the pool. We enjoyed meals at two of the on-site restaurants and the breakfast buffet — all were delicious and well presented. The service throughout our stay was excellent, and the complimentary airport transfer made our arrival and departure smooth and stress-free. The hotel grounds are absolutely stunning and make for a peaceful retreat in the middle of the city. We were also touched by the thoughtful honeymoon touches — a bottle of wine in our room and a special dessert with a sweet message at the Indian restaurant on our second night. Highly recommend!

Sheraton Addis is amazing — I love the ambience, the service, the cleanliness, the spa, and the entertainment. Everything feels top-notch and welcoming. Just a small note: at the big coffee ceremony, a warmer smile would make the experience even better. On both visits, the hostess seemed less welcoming compared to the outstanding service everywhere else. Still, Sheraton Addis is an exceptional place I’d highly recommend!

Overall a very nice hotel with excellent staff and luxurious rooms. Beddings and linens are clean and comfortable. Gym is well-equipped and the pool is also enjoyable. I must say, I've been here 3 times and I've gotten sick each time just eating hotel food only. Not acceptable for a chain like this. Hotel is also located in a rough area so don't walk around with any valuables or they will be removed from you.

I visited this hotel for a simple coffee, but unfortunately, the whole experience was disappointing. The coffee was poorly made, and even after asking them to fix it, it came back exactly the same. I decided to leave and asked for the bill, but the waiter responded rudely and said they needed to check with the manager. When they came back, they said we didn’t need to pay, but I insisted because I believe in paying for what I order. The staff then offered to let us take something else instead, so my friend ordered a tea to go. While waiting, the waitress came back and said we needed to pay for the tea because it was not the same item — completely contradicting what was said before. At that point, I was already frustrated and ready to leave, but my friend asked to speak with the manager. The manager, Melaku, whom I’ve had a bad experience with before, handled the situation very poorly. He was defensive, dismissive, and made no effort to resolve the issue professionally. Overall, the service was inconsistent and unprofessional from start to finish. Definitely not the level of hospitality you’d expect from a hotel of this standard.

Stayed 3 nights at the Sheraton Addis, which is the most luxurious and most expensive hotel in Addis. The hotel is quite grand. The check in process took way too long than it should have. The rooms are decent but needs a full overall renovation. Feels like a room built in the 80s. The Indian restaurant was a disappointment in terms of food. The breakfast buffet is elaborate and staff super prompt and receptive. The grounds of the hotel, gym and pool are excellent. Location wise, it is quite nice.

I am a frequent customer of the Sheraton Addis and I am happy with all the services provided. I would like to recommend the management about the service at the office bar on Thursdays and Saturdays. The requirement by the establishment to make an order of a liquor bottle is out of the standard. I can understand that there is a lot of expense involved with the band to make these nights such interesting. But there have to be other options like a minimum spending per table per person. This will give the customers options to enjoy the service by ordering whatever each wants. This is what a luxury hotel like the Sheraton should be doing to entertain the customers. I hope the management will see this and adjust the practice and meet the customers expectations.
Habtamu A — Google review
I have stayed at Sheraton addis several times and I always have such an incredible experience that I always end up extending my stay. the staff always goes above and beyond to exceed my expectations. I was once again blown away during my most recent stay this past weekend. Of course, the property itself is stunning—everything you’d expect from a true luxury hotel. But what makes Sheraton Addis stand out above the rest is the outstanding staff. From the reception/concierge to the butlers, housekeeping, servers in the lounge, and the restaurant teams—everyone is genuinely committed to making each guest’s stay exceptional. A special mention to Supervisor Zelalem, who has consistently gone the extra mile and made my stay unforgettable. As well as receptionist Rahwa -very pleasant and helpful. Whether you’re visiting Addis from abroad or looking for a staycation in the city, this is without a doubt the best place to be. Thank you all ❤️

Stayed 4 nights with my 15-year-old son – flawless from start to finish. Perfect location, spotless rooms, and incredibly welcoming staff who treat everyone like royalty. They even surprised us with a cake to celebrate our stay. Food in both the regular and traditional restaurants was fresh, healthy, and beyond delicious. Excellent gym, pool, steam/sauna, and jacuzzi. Special thanks to the reception team – especially Nardos for making us feel at home. A true 5-star experience. Highly recommend.

Great for hosting events, spacious great sound system. The food is amazing and the service is even better. Just take care to watch your head when you take the stairs, the hallway is short. Not so easy to go to, it's right on the highway, if you miss it, you need to make a long U-turn to the next roundabout.

I have stayed at this hotel on multiple occasions, both alone and with a group. The breakfast is excellent, and the rooms are clean with comfortable beds. The staff is accommodating, and the spa and salon services are exceptional values for the cost. The pool and rooftop dining are also extremely nice amenities. I enjoy the location. A great value all around!

I stayed at Rava Hotel for a few nights during a weekend trip, and I was honestly impressed. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel welcome—they were friendly, approachable, and happy to answer my questions about the area. My room was cozy and clean, with a really comfortable bed and enough space to unpack without feeling cramped. I also liked that there were small touches, like a coffee maker and a few snacks, which made things feel a bit more personal. The hotel is in a great location, close to some nice cafes and shops, and it was easy to get around without needing a car. Breakfast was simple but tasty, and it had a good mix of options to start the day. One thing I really appreciated was how quiet the hotel felt at night, which made it easy to sleep after long days of sightseeing. Overall, I had a relaxing and enjoyable stay at Rava Hotel. It felt welcoming without being pretentious, convenient without being crowded, and I would happily stay there again next time I’m in the city.

Taitu Hotel | Piazza is a historic hotel located in the heart of Addis Ababa, offering a laid-back atmosphere and a taste of traditional Ethiopian hospitality. The hotel features a vegan restaurant and bar where guests can enjoy live jazz music, adding to the cool Ethio-jazz scene. Built in 1905 by Empress Taitu Betul, the hotel holds significant historical value as the first hotel in Ethiopia.
A historical visit to the first hotel in Addis. Highly recommend the buffet. Price is unbelievably low. They serve the dark colored injera which is not common. The food was great. Customer service was great. And staff were so helpful to allow me to charge my phone.

A historical hotel named after Empress Tahiti, who was the wife of Emperor Menelik, ruler of Ethiopia in the 19th Century! I spent a night in the hotel but the conditions was very poor. That said, the vegan restaurant in the hotel lobby, serves delicious salads snd injera wot. It’s a buffet so you can eat as much as you like, in a leisurely manner. Staff are friendly and professional in the restaurant! Low priced buffet, hood for large groups!

Fitting to come for lunch to the oldest hotel in Ethiopia still standing (despite being damaged by fire) on Ethiopian New Year’s Day 2015. Food is exceptional and we had the mixed meat dish - a good way to sample all of the different dishes in one go. Plenty of food and generous portions - beware when ordering. The hotel does look very tired but expect it is hard to renovate or maintain such an old hotel easily and to a standard we have all come to expect.
Tigs C — Google review
Oldest hotel in Addis, as old and uncomfortable are the cheapest rooms. It's convenient to pay a little bit more for a better room, cheapest are not worth it. Great terrace to have a beer or drink a coffee. One of the few places where you can have Internet access in case of restrictions, however you must pay for it. Good food and great fasting buffet.
Javier F — Google review
First hotel. Cheap vegan buffet. Food was decent. Bathrooms are a mess. All in all if you have a limited time in Addis, you could skip here. If you have a lot of time in Addis then it’s worth at least one meal.
John J — Google review
The hotel in itself is charming, it’s and old colonial building frozen in time. You walk into its reception area with its booth and it’s wooden stairs and it’s like you were in a Humphrey Bogart movie. The dining area and piano cafe are beautiful, it’s better to come here for the popular vegan buffet than to stay in as the rooms in the old building are dusty, old and dirty.
Carlos O — Google review
This a wonderfully atmospheric old building (mansion) in a conveniently central area. I'd give the restaurant 5 stars for the beautiful atmosphere (see photos) and delicious lunch buffet. However, I'd give the Hotel 3 stars. The service at reception was very mediocre and I was cold in my room. Try and get a room in the front building. It is older but the rooms and bathrooms are cleaner. I think the rear building (although newer) has smaller rooms and less bathrooms (shared). However, I enjoyed the experience, particularly because I would probably not have gone to the restaurant if I hadn't stayed at the Hotel.

The Radisson Blu Hotel, Addis Ababa is a modern choice for travelers seeking convenience and comfort. With complimentary Wi-Fi and breakfast, as well as a brasserie-style dining experience, guests can enjoy a range of amenities including a gym and spa services. The hotel's proximity to Addis Ababa Bole International Airport makes it an ideal option for those looking for quality accommodation in the area.
I can recommend this hotel. It has high standards and even through a blackout you barely notice anything. Rooms and the entire hotel has come a bit out of age but similar to other Radisson blue locations they have high standards in terms of cleaning and service. Try to be a little it careful with hidden extra charges. Soundproof of the rooms could be slightly better, which lead to the deduction of one star for rooms.

Great hotel for business with excellent service and near the CBD of Addis. There is a nice outdoor area and a great place to watch a game with friends. The food is excellent but dinner could do with theme nights that changes the menu I felt that every evening 80% of the buffet menu was being repeated so it got abit boaring. The rooms are getting abit dated now but they are still comfortable.

I had a great stay, friendly staff from housekeeping all the way to the porters. Good breakfast and lunch and very clean rooms. Overall, the hotel was quite good from the quality of service and the rooms to the friendliness of the staff. However, the access road surrounding the hotel was muddy, damaged, and chaotic, largely due to limited space and a high volume of parked cars.

My family and I stayed at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Addis in June 2025, and our experience was nothing short of outstanding. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and treated with genuine care. The customer service was top-notch. Every staff member went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and at home. The restaurant offered a wonderful variety of options, with delicious meals for every taste and occasion. Whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner, we were always impressed by the freshness, flavor, and presentation. I must give special mention to Gugsa, who was absolutely amazing! He made sure that every detail of our stay went smoothly, from planning our visit to ensuring we were comfortable throughout. His professionalism and kindness truly made a difference. Though I’ve forgotten her name, the General Manager was equally wonderful polite, attentive, and incredibly helpful. She took the time to personally check on us and ensure everything was perfect. Overall, the Golden Tulip Hotel exceeded our expectations in every way — clean rooms, excellent food, and a staff that genuinely cares. We left with beautiful memories and can’t wait to return. The breakfast buffet was outstanding, with both Ethiopian and international options. Room service was fast and the food was top quality. The mezzanine bar offered a warm, cozy atmosphere with friendly service, and the Ethiopian coffee at the lobby café was rich and delicious. A special mention to General Manager Estifanos and Duty Manager Fikir — their professionalism and hospitality truly made my stay exceptional. The staff overall were warm, efficient, and eager to help. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Addis Ababa — whether for business or leisure! — BuffaloSteve, Greenville SC

I am a regular customer of Golden Tulip Addis Ababa and usually enjoy the service. But during a recent call to book a room, the receptionist Mr. Henok responded with unprofessional and disrespectful language, saying “Atazigegn.” This is very disappointing and not the standard of hospitality I expect. As a proud Ethiopian, I value our culture of respect and warm hospitality. Experiencing such behavior in a place that represents our country to the world was truly disheartening. I hope the hotel manager addresses this to maintain its good reputation.

Had such a great time here for the last 28 days! The location makes it ideal for visiting the city. The hotel is beautiful with large, comfortable rooms. The staff gave excellent recommendations and were very attentive. One of the highlights of our stay was the Havana bar, they host a live Ethiopian oldis music every Thursday. Great energy, music and even better cocktails! Worth checking out if you can. The food was another highlight, there was a variety of local and international dishes so lots to choose from. Will definitely miss starting the day with a fresh cup of Ethiopian coffee every morning at their coffee corner! Fantastic stay, we would highly recommend.

Great hotel for the price! The staff are lovely and eager to help. There's a bit of a language barrier, but it mostly makes the experience more fun! The facilities are functional and serves most all of your needs. Complementary water bottles every day. Great facilities for exercise.

not the best. internet kept dropping. had to check our. i was smelling something in the room. the showers were unclean but water was hot. toilet seat was awkward. but for the price and one night stay could work for some.

Stayed here for my scheduled layover. It's what a 2 star hotel should be and then some. Rooms spacious. There's cable and hot water. But that's it There's no air conditioner or fan in my room. No duvet. Showers and taps are pretty much dated. Food service at the restaurant is slow It's enough for a quick night sleep. But if you want to spend more nights in Addis, I think you should look elsewhere
Dozie D — Google review
It’s a beautiful surrounding with some embassies close by. The Georgian embassy is the closest to it. Their staffers are very warm and friendly. The rooms vary according to the room plan and price. However, the toilets should be looked into, as the smell is very pungent and disturbing. It doesn’t have much view around. Food is quite Limited during breakfast 😃 There’s now a club at the penthouse, slightly above the restaurant. There they have shisha and a lively DJ to make your evening groovy. Limited car space , but very secured. I’ll recommend it to someone who wants to stay within Meskel Flower, Kirkos. It has a very close proximity to the airport and you can easily access so many places from there, even the African Union. There are a lot of Ethiopian restaurants close by that will delight your appetite in Ethiopian delicacies. There’s a Yemen restaurant very close by called “SANAA RESTAURANT”; but you’ll have to go a distance before you can get some other African restaurants. Overall, it’s a decent place. Follow me for more updates.

The hotel ambiance is very bad. The room is very old (no renovations) and we were welcomed with cockroaches 🪳. The windows had no locks, someone could easily break in. The bedsheets were brown and yellow 😫 with strange looking marks on it. They kept the sugar for the coffee open 🤦‍♀️ The bathroom towels were white but had an ash color (dirty) 😏. Don’t get me started on the lights and the shower 🚿 area 😡. I didn’t even bother about having dinner and breakfast so I don’t have a runny tummy. In a nutshell, humans are not supposed to be lodged in this type of hotel. Ethiopian airlines please take this hotel (Ado-Tina and Dreamliner) from your list of transit hotels!!!!!!!

The staff were amazing. Made the stay just amazing. The WiFi was very good. I could video calls comfortably with pretty much anyone. Breakfast was buffet every morning. It was full of varieties. We had bread available all the time in Ethiopia. Went with colleagues from class for research on Sustainable Development. It was an amazing time.

Nice hotel, used for stopover in Addis Ababa. Pros: Hard mattress, warm milk ready to serve at breakfast, nice pancakes, pleasant receptionist and staff, very large rooms with balcony, power hot shower, Room had neither heater nor A.C. but temperature was perfect. Cons: initial room had a awkward smell bit was changed immediately, room TV was very old.

I had my wedding at this hotel in July 2024, and it was truly the best experience of my life. From start to finish, the entire staff went above and beyond to ensure our special day was flawless. The hotel itself is not only beautiful but also impeccably clean, creating the perfect atmosphere for a wedding. One thing that really stood out was how the catering team accommodated us by providing additional food options that weren’t even on their menu. This thoughtful gesture meant a lot to us and our guests, who were delighted by the variety and quality of the food. Every detail was taken care of, from the stunning decor to the seamless coordination. I can't thank the team enough for their hard work and dedication. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a wedding—it will exceed your expectations in every way.

This place is far from city center. It’s difficult to get too. At night it’s pitch black. We had regular power outages. Like literally 3-4 hours of power each day. But the constant power outages and the distance from normal activity, made for a few lifelong friendships. Lol And the staff means well. Only gets the stars for staff effort and bonds made.

One of the worst expérience ever. I don’t even know how they got their 3 stars. Arriving the first day in the room, we have only one towel for 2 people & no toilet paper. So kindly asked the lady at the reception & she said that she hasn’t now & she will make it available in the evening. Then in the evening there is another lady who can’t do anything about it & said wait till the morning. Finally in the morning there is a guy who seems like he doesn’t care & he said he can’t also provide. Another situation : the First Lady told as breakfast till 10:00 am but when we arrived at 9:10am (because I have left the guest house to buy the toilet paper) then the guy said the breakfast is over. Finally we decide to put a complaint which is proposed in the instructions of the bedroom but the guy couldn’t provide the file to fill. So we decided to contact the manager but he/she won’t reply to his/her phone. I will never suggest this guest house.
Coup N — Google review
The room aint much, it wasn't as I expected it to be from their online review and pictures. I paid for the best one and tried changing rooms 3 times but still, I didn't even want to use the jacuzzi. Great staff tho and great location (5/5)
Natnael T — Google review
It’s very difficult to find and it’s situated in a close. I had a difficult time locating it and it got me exhausted. The rooms have different categories and not so exciting. Lighting is pretty poor and the building looks really old. The staffs are nonchalant and less concerned with whatever happens there. The security guards are less concerned about who comes in or what you bring in. You could as well bring in a bomb and they’d be less concerned about it. I don’t think I’d want to really chill there, for security reasons and it not so much fun.
Joyviva N — Google review
Terrible accommodation and service. Blankets and pillow cases smell like cheap detergent. No comforters, just old and unpleasantly rough blankets (similar to what security guards wear when they’re cold). The closets smell like they’ve never been cleaned. The bed was very old and clanky. I shared a balcony with the room next door, which is highly inconvenient. Wi-Fi was poor. TV only had 4 channels, two of them with inaudible quality. I asked for toilet paper, they brought one after two hours! The provided towel was ripped on the corners. Shower equipment is very old. Receptionists are kind but unprofessional. I never attempted to have breakfast here given the already terrible hygienic conditions I just described. The ONLY good thing about this place is its central location. I’m currently in a guest house that is way cleaner with good quality furnishing for the same rate and 5 minutes away from Weygoss. Don’t stay here!
Kalid J — Google review
Am writing this review (21-June-2023) while staying in this terrible facility since one week. Don't know from where to start because the list is endless. It's a big "No Go" place. Warning for all foreigners who are finding this place cheap and yes it's cheap in every sense from facilities to infrastructure. Plesee don't go to this place even if they pay you money. They have no water facility which means you can't use toilet. Poor hygiene. The towel they gave me initially I thought they gave me a mop to wipe the floor because it was torn from everywhere and they shamelessly called that towel. My only reason to stay here was because my previous owner ditched me by taking advance and not providing me any room. So I had to find a place immediately to settle after arriving to ethiopia. This place is horrible in every sense.
Sandeep T — Google review
Medium price. Good for the basics. Got water and simple breakfast. Airport shuttle costs 10$ in 2017. Quiet and secure. Gated. Acceptable WiFi. Tv useless very small number of channels and most in amharic. Very close to airport road. Close to supermarket and bakery. Has many restaurants nearby. Room was very clean. Nice balcony. I didn't try other options to compare but it is recommended.
Fady M — Google review
The facility is really run down, and the management is not ready to work on repairs eg the toilets and bathroom are leaking. They do not allow one on long stay to do their own laundry, and their price for this service is exorbitant. The breakfast menu is monotonous and minimalistic. The most annoying thing is the management is not wiling to improve on these areas. Had to look for alternative accommodation for my long stay

I recently stayed at this guest house with my family, planning for a 3-week stay and booking two rooms. However, we ended up leaving on the second day due to several issues. The hotel has no elevator, which made it challenging with all our luggage, and it’s far from the city center, making it inconvenient, especially at such a high price. The rooms were big but also disappointing – they were not clean, with dirty floors and beds, broken bathrooms, and very basic, worn-out furniture. The only positive aspect was the staff, who were genuinely nice and kind. However, given the poor conditions and inconvenient location, we decided to cut our stay short.

Guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast and Wi-Fi while indulging in delicious meals at the on-site restaurant, which is open 24 hours.
Good room, large soft bed, very clean. The airport transfer is free and fully reliable (a reason in itself to choose this hotel). Not sure how they do it, but wireless Internet is quick and reliable, in contrast to other hotels in the city. Have stayed here many times.

Great hotel - comfortable spacious rooms, WiFi is fast & reliable, menu is very good, bar well stocked and the owner is very hospitable. Airport transfers are available too. Addis regency single handedly saved my two day layover trip to see the city from being a complete waste. After spending one night in a place with stellar reviews that did not live up to any of what was promised, the regency came highly recommended by the Bradt guidebook. Notable "wow" factors: -Wifi is fast and works in your room, not just the lobby -Shower is hot with great water pressure -Large rooms, super comfortable beds, safe -International plug adapters and umbrellas they'll give you on loan so you don't have to buy one -Top notch laundry service; the best I've seen in both East and West African countries with a turnaround time of a few hours. Once the laundry is finished, you'll find it neatly packaged, pressed, and waiting for you in your room. -Great references for things to do in the city and how to get around. Particularly, their referral for hourly hire taxi drivers was great in comparison to average taxi rates (the cost per hour was the cost it often took for a normal 15 min ride; be sure to ask specifically if you need a car for the day or a couple of hours) -Free airport shuttle (worth ~$15 each way in taxi fare - making this hotel even more reasonably priced) -Quiet but central location -Customer service focused hotel; Westerners will particularly enjoy the attention to detail and service focused strategy The manager introduced himself, knew who I was and made the whole experience extremely personal. After hearing of my prior troubles, he also made special arrangements to help me enjoy my stay even further. I cannot recommend this place enough and thank the entire staff (Mulu too for being so sweet to me my first day!) for making my quick stay in Addis worthwhile!

This will be my place to stay for all my future visits. Though this was a business trip for 4 days, the hotel offers a place like home, so will pick the place for a family trip as well. Here is my case: 1. Amazingly spacious room! 600 sft. space with kitchen or office options. And has a balcony. 2. The price includes breakfast, dinner and does free laundry! And ofcourse the complimentary pick-up and drop from airport. 3. The staff is amazingly good. I was quite surprised to see that each one of them are so pleasant and helpful. This includes even the drivers who came to pick-up and drop-off. 4. I'm a vegetarian and am extremely limited in what I can eat. The kitchen staff really try to accommodate those very specific needs. 5. Though most people staying are on long-term work trips, the big rooms are perfect for family stay. 6. The hotel is so quite and sober, but yet in the most happening place of the town. I've seen the street fully parked with cars and could hear some slight music from my balcony even at 2am. 7. On the day I checked out, my flight was at 9 pm. The asked for a airport drop at 7 pm. At reception staff asked me if I would like to have some food before I left (though I had already checked out). When I declined as I was not feeling very well, the owner of the hotel himself came down to check and see if I would like to eat some fruits. I picked this place from a recommendation of a colleague but I found it better than what I heard.

SoSiDa Gelateria, nestled in the vibrant Wello Sefer area, offers an authentic gelato experience that is hard to resist. With a wide array of flavors, this popular spot has become a favorite among locals and visitors alike. Their freshly churned gelato is not only thick and creamy but also comes with a delightful zing that sets it apart from typical offerings. The milkshakes made from their gelato are particularly noteworthy for those seeking a refreshing treat on warm days.
I have heard that this is one of the most popular gelato (Italian ice cream) shops in Addis Ababa. The well organised staff and nice play facilities for children outside. Most importantly, the gelato tastes really thick, creamy, and delicious. It's got a bit of a zing to it here, when it comes to Ethiopia. I was just wondering if the shop inside the nearby OiLybia petrol station that sells the gelato is part of the same group as SoSiDa.

Guests appreciate the attentive manager and chef who cater to special dietary requests and provide helpful tips for exploring the city.
The manager and the chef in the mornings made my entire stay perfect! They catered to my vegan diet on request by preparing some amazing food for me. Very kind manager helped me out with international calls to the airline when I had an issue. As a female solo traveler, this place felt very safe and the manager gave me tips on what to do around the city. The aesthetic of the place is very modern and charming. It’s also right in the middle of the city with access to the main roads just a few min walk away. Rooms are comfortable. I stayed for 8 days and would definitely return!

Terrible hotel and terrible experience! Staff are lazy and non welcoming and very rude! Rooms have cockroaches. Next to a construction site. Manager is always busy with issues (more important than you!).. They don’t take your concerns in a serious nor caring manner. They only care about getting their bill paid!! Food is under expectations. And don’t forget the clogged bathroom showers. Always! Totally non-recommended and waste of money.

This is a far nicer guesthouse than we were expecting. Even though the rooms are relatively basic, the building and facilities are very nice and we especially enjoyed the large indoor dining area and outdoor courtyard. We were not expecting the free morning breakfast but it was exceptional and we sampled something different from the menu every morning. We also enjoyed the location as there are some small neighbourhoods nearby where we enjoyed spending most of our first days in Addis. -- I am aware that other reviews have expressed disappointments with their stay here, however, our experience superb. The staff especially, from the manager and reception and every single server and cleaning staff were all kind and generous. Thank you all.

Do not stay here! 🚫 After making an in-person booking here (+ online agreement with the manager) suddenly there was no availability when I arrived. The cash payment that agreed upon was suddenly also not possible, as the manager on site said only payment in Birr was possible with a bank statement.. The owner was not responsive for refund until I raised the issue with Airbnb. Earlier he had not been reachable when looking to find the specific location of the place. The manager on site was extremely rude saying it was my responsibility that employees put the booking in the system despite them reassuring me twice it was all set. She also claimed I lied when I said I spoke to the manager about the booking, which was obviously not the case. She then told me to go walking through the dark, a young woman by herself, to the hotel next door that did have availability.. Do not book here! This Location is the best 👌, me and my fiancee enjoyed it, pros: far from the hustle and bustling of the city, fair price, service is top tire, Cons: use and throw slipers unavailable buy fair at this price range. We Recommend this place, u will enjoy it on a budget.

Hi, Take care when you book here. We booked in Booking, no on line payment available. But when we get there the told us our room was not available, that, instead they have a suite to upgrated us. But, when I told them I don't have dollars, since I'm travelling one month around, they suddenly increase the prize to the double in birrs giving US not more options than to leave without accommodation. Amazing. You don't have to cheat people like that.

This place is a dump. Do not stay here! I don't mind rough n ready - I'm a touring cyclist, but this place is a failure on all counts. One small room, dirty and smelly, although the bed was clean enough. No water - the shower is a dribble. Bad wifi. I paid 900 Birr on an Agoda "special deal", and what a ripoff! Of course, the photos looked OK enough! Sigh.... I repeat - do not stay here. There are other and way better GHs around at 900 Birr.

The place is nice, a clean bed sheet, and the bed is also comfortable. however there was a problem with the hot shower, and the bathroom wasn't as clean as it should be.

Baro Hotel, located in Piassa behind the renowned Taitu Hotel, is a popular choice for budget travelers seeking a friendly and secure environment. Despite its modest price, the hotel offers good value for money with rooms available for as little as $10 USD (230 ETB) for two people. While some amenities may be basic and occasional inconveniences like inconsistent water pressure or after-hours access issues may arise, guests generally find the security and sanitation to be satisfactory.
Are you traveling to or through Ethiopia, do you need budget accommodation in a friendly and secure environment? If the answer is yes, then Baro Hotel in Piassa (right behind legendary Taitu Hotel) in Addis Ababa is the right place for you (backpacker kind of environment). Love meeting people from different countries,Baro Hotel is the place for you to stay.

Very bad bad place. Rooms from last century, dark, noisy at night and dirty, very helpfull stuff but never ever again. Again: Best best best trustfull and helpfull stuff in addis, but the guesthouse is in a bad condition. Condoms under the bed, the generator is working only sometimes and only from evening until midnight. Water is dirty - brush your teeth with drinming water. A friend get sick there. Its run down and the owner dont takecare about.....

A good little hostel, we finished off our two week trip here and had a good experience. The rooms are outdated, but clean enough. Come expecting to stay at a hostel and you wont let yourself in for a surprise. we had good wifi, and hot showers. they provided towels for us when we requested them. We noticed that there were a lot of backpackers here, some visiting for the first time, and others coming back year after year.
Jo M — Google review
“This is a proper knocking-shop, isn’t it Ben!” It was these words that confirmed the fact that I was, indeed, staying in a brothel. The girls who flirted with the male backpackers: prostitutes; the young smartly dressed Ethiopian boys who would Sheepishly wonder into the hotels grounds: the punters. Having said that, The Baro Hotel is a good place to stay while you’re in Addis: cheap, nice location and good place to meet other backpackers. There are a number of tables at the front where guests gather for food and beers in the evening. Rooms have seen better days and aren’t the cleanest I’ve stayed in.
Ben S — Google review
Alright, tame your expectations. For the equivalent of $10 USD (230 ETB), you can get a room for two and a private wet bathroom. Sure the water pressure is inconsistent and sometimes nonexistent, and sometimes you have to argue with the grouchy guard to let you in after hours, but having stayed here heaps, I've never had a problem with security or sanitation. The service staff here are wonderful, the linens and rooms are clean, with no evidence of bed bugs or fleas, beds are usually fairly comfortable and the indoor singles rooms are of adequate size for two. Additionally, the double rooms (350 ETB) can fit a third person for an additional 100 ETB. The double rooms are often quite well sized, as such I wouldn't recommend the 400 birr doubles as you don't get that much more in comfort. That being said, there is a singles room I am aware of that is terrible. It's located outside and is kind of in a slight corner, being wedge shaped. Avoid this room. It is no good. Mosquitos everywhere. Nightmare material... Anyway! Highly recommend Baro for a cheap stay in Piassa, a neighbourhood with good connections to practically every suburb of Addis.
John S — Google review
Nice place to stay in addis, the price is a bit expensive in comparison to the rest of Ethiopia but yet reasonable. The best thing in this place is the backpackers that come over this place so you can share experiences. Hot water and good wifi ! Which are very important

A bit shabby rooms, but friendly staff and nice compound. Parking inside, good for drivers not for the sleeping, cause ethiopian drivers need to run the engine of their cars in the morning. Rates are ok.

I had the worst experience there. Its so expensive compared to the other guest houses or hotels. The breakfast was the worst, the portion is so small and not well prepared with rude Waiters and manager who kept getting me the wrong dish and drink. We ordered a traditional dish called 'siga firfir' which there should be meat in it but there was none! They were really rude when we commented. I don't recommend this place to anyone!!!
Abiy L — Google review
Overall it’s a nice and clean hotel but it definitely needs to have some hot water . The showers we had to take were all cold and women do need hot water. I think they deliberately switch off the hot water as one of the nights the water was really hot and we were surprised, because they said the water doesn’t get hot. This is a major disadvantage staying here. If you like hot water then this is not a place for you. They don’t give you tea cups or a kettle to make yourself a tea or coffee. If you looking for such comfort this place cannot offer you that . I wish I met the owner to make some suggestions and complains cos the manager there is not very helpful and she suggested I leave if I can’t make do with the cold baths ... I think that was a very bad thing to say to a client instead of fixing the situation. And the elevator is mostly not always working . I would say the owner put a lot of work to making the place nice but he needs to make it more comfortable with basic things such as taking care of guest and hot water , a kettle and tea cups.
Brenda M — Google review
I stayed here for a 2weeks and there has never been a day where there was hot water and the weather is cold and it’s raining... I complained to the staff and they kept saying they use solar hence they water cannot get hot ... the cleaners are quite nice except the one with the glasses...she always complains when you ask her to do some things.. the receptionist... some of them are nice and some are not.. the manager was also insensitive to my request when I took it to her... I think the owner needs to make out time to talk to the guest who come there to stay a bit longer than a day or two.. they don’t like to open the gate for rides to come in even when it’s raining heavily... it’s a nice hotel... but it lacks customer care and hot water.. I left there with flu cos of cold water .

A bed and breakfast in Addis Ababa with free WiFi and a shared lounge. The Betsi Bed and Breakfast offers a continental or vegan breakfast.
From the moment I arrived, the hospitality was absolutely top-notch. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with a warm smile. The bottom floor is a hospital so it’s super clean and quiet! The location is unbeatable central, and close to everything you could possibly need. Famous museum across the street. Every tourist attraction and restaurants literally 5-10 minutes away! I also felt completely safe throughout my stay because of how well secured the building is. This made the experience even better. Also they have better WiFi than most places in Addis if you need internet. I highly recommend this bed and breakfast. Forgot their names but I would have included them here! Thank you guys!
Danny D — Google review
Betsi Bed and Breakfast is one floor hotel in the 3rd floor of a clinic. The location is central, opposite to the National museum but the museum is under construction as the road in front of the hotel thus no lights on the streets which makes it scary to walk there if it’s dark. The breakfast was poor and the room though very spacious it was very noisy as there is a very busy neighborhood exactly next to it. The clean lady was friendly and always around.
Maria A — Google review

Agnieszka W — Google review
Stayed for multiple days and had a great experience! Definitely recommend this bed and breakfast. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff is amazing. Biruk picked me up from the airport and we made a little detour to show me around the area, telling stories about Addis. All the time he was available for questions and more info. Also the area is great, many bars and restaurants close by.
Tomas H — Google review
Great accommodation in the center of Addis! Ask for a quiet room because two bars/restaurants will bother you otherwise, with their non-stop blasting music. This is beyond the control of the B&B manager, who tried to make them stop more than once. But please notice that this is literally the only downside of this accommodation! Other than that, at Betsi B&B you will find impeccable service, kindness, availability and spotless rooms! I forgot to take pics in the room, but the ones you see online perfectly portray what will expect you. Beware that there is no clear sign on the side of the building or on the street, just look for the white building with a dark red line on top: you will see the sign for the "Christmas International brain and spine center", which is located on the ground floor of the same building, while the B&B is on the 3rd floor.

"We stayed at this guest house for about three weeks, and the service has been very poor. There is no sense of hospitality, and the administration is extremely arrogant. A slightly damaged sheet resulted in a request for $100, which feels unreasonable. It seems like they are trying to take money from guests in any way possible. We've also checked with locals in the village, and they agree that the administration here is known for being bad."

We stayed at GT Guest House for two weeks on a homeland visit - it was AMAZING!!! They took ALL the stress out of travel! They are truly a one stop guest house. We used their van and driver(Kedros - he’s amazing ) for all our day trips, airport pickups and drop offs; it was reasonably priced and the driver is fantastic! We used their laundry service; it,too, was reasonably priced and they did an excellent job! When we travelled south for a week they let us leave some of our luggage behind and helped make lodging arrangements for us - all free of charge! The accommodations are first rate, especially for large families. We had a 3 bedroom 3 bath apartment and it was perfect - very clean and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast is unmatched! A five course meal with a menu that changes every day…our kids absolutely loved it!! The afternoons we happened to be around the apartment - they always brought up a snack from French fries to popcorn- both ‘the best ever’ according to our kids! The compound itself is safe and spacious. Our children enjoyed the chickens, cat and the basketball hoop! Tegist, who runs the front office, is an amazing lady - ALWAYS in tune with the family and at the right place at the right time with the right solution- every time! Our kids absolutely loved her and so did we! We still miss her! Bottom line, we recommend GT Guest House without reservation!! P.S. They also did a nice job with their COVID protocol!

Our family stayed at the GT guest House for a week during our first trip back to Ethiopia in 10 years, and it was wonderful. Lee and her staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. They kept us stocked with bottled water, pop, and beer, and also served coffee when we had a big group of family members over for dinner. They helped us order dinner from nearby restaurants when we didn’t feel like going out. They were so friendly and welcoming that we felt like we were staying with old friends. The breakfasts are included, and all I can say is WOW. Amazing quality and selection, and brought to your suite. The food was freshly prepared and so delicious! Crepes, pancakes, French toast, eggs, and fruit salad were some of the breakfast items. They even used teff to make gluten free options for my husband who’s allergic to gluten. Each day some local breakfast food item was included, and it was fun to try something different along with food we were used to. And of course - the coffee! Amazing. We stayed in the 3 bedroom suite which was very clean, comfortable, and had more than enough room for our family and visitors. The beds were comfortable with plenty of warm bedding for the cool rainy season. The showers have shower curtains and reliable hot water (not something I found during our past visit elsewhere in Addis). If the power happens to go out, they also have a generator. The WiFi is reliable, but not super fast - I don’t think you’d be able to stream movies etc., although we didn’t try. The kitchen had a stove, sink, good sized fridge, microwave and tea kettle, so we had everything we needed to cook at home. The location is a couple of blocks from a light rail stop, shops, and restaurants so you don’t need to rely on a car. It’s near the center of the city so it’s easy access to all other neighborhoods and the airport. The guest house has stairs and no elevator but Lee’s staff carried our luggage to and from our 2nd floor room when we arrived and left, which made for easy check in and out. FYI, an elevated roadway is being constructed next to the guest house so there may be construction noise in the near future. Check with Lee if you have questions. I highly recommend staying at this guest house. We will definitely be back!

Lee is a very welcoming and knowledgable host. I can't recommend this place enough. I booked a single room and was upgraded to a double room with private bath for no additional cost. The free airport pick-up and drop-off are a nice plus! Thanks, Lee, for making my short stay in Addis very sweet.

We stayed here for a week in June, visiting our children's birth family. We rented the whole 3rd floor, which fit our 6 people well. It was within walking distance of some local shopping and restaurants. Our host for the week, Tigist, was great. She speaks English, and was always available for any requests, such as wanting tea in the evening, and some popcorn. Breakfast was delicious, and if we particularly liked something, we could request that again. Tigist even helped me get a hair braiding appointment for my daughter, and the hair salon was only about a 5-8 minute walk from the home. The staff did a great job keeping everything cleaned. They did not speak English, so unfortunately I was unable to get to know them and thank them for their hard work. We would stay again.

I cannot imagine a better place to stay than GT Guest House. I stayed here for 2 nights with my husband and 12-year-old daughter. Our "family apartment" was an entire huge floor with a full equipped kitchen, living/dining room, two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, wifi, and balcony. The breakfast was brought to us in our dining room and it was incredible: multiple kinds of fresh fruit, crepes or French toast, coffee, tea, milk, eggs, fried potato patties or stir-fried potatoes, and each day a different kind of Ethiopian breakfast food. Everything was beautifully seasoned and well cooked. But I think what made this place stand out most was the staff. Lee and TG treated us like friends visiting from out of town. They brought my daughter homemade french fries and offered to go pick up Indian food for her when she was craving it. Lee booked taxis for us, gave us great recommendations of places to go, checked in on us when we were out, made us restaurant reservations, and booked us outings with an excellent and kind and fun driver, Abreham. GT also offers free airport transfers. This is one of the best places I have ever slept at and I would never consider staying anywhere else in Addis Ababa. አመሰግናለሁ!

Management and staff are extremely friendly and caring. “Master bedrooms“ large and well furnished. For each 3 rooms or so, there is one kitchen appropriately equipped. Supply with water, electricity and internet as good as it is provided from the external.service providers. Great place to stay

The receptionist is very unwelcoming. I was so disappointed I left the place without even visiting the rooms. I may have been in a low mood that I decided to leave immediately but still the receptionist was judgmental and had a huge ego. Sorry to say this but the receptionist should be trained how to handle customers.
