Five Loaves Bistro and Bakery is a charming spot located at Adwa Bridge in Addis Ababa, housed in an adorable brick building. The interior is cozy and beautiful, featuring a wood-paneled ceiling that adds to the inviting atmosphere. Known for their famous eggs benedict, this bistro offers a diverse menu catering to various dietary preferences including options for vegans and kids.
I have always found this place to have a great menu and argued with many before I even tasted it that it maybe the best restaurant in the city. Many said that it wasn't as great in food flavors and service as it is written in the menu. My brother wanted to have a healthy breakfast meal and recommended this place. I called the place right away and made a reservation and asked until what time they serve breakfast and considering it was Saturday, they said until about 3pm. When we got there, we parked on the street as there wasn't any parking space for the place located in the busy area of Signal area on the other side of Hayahulet. No one asked if we had reservation and sat and continued to order our meal. We order Beef Fillet, Grilled Chicken Breast, French Toast and Seafood Omelette. Out waitress brought us a 'Bruschetta' with tomatoes and parmesan cheese. It was a very nice touch and complimentary. Our lunch / brunch arrived and the Seafood Omelette was more than I expected. It was very hot, delicious, perfect portion and plenty of seafood (both garnished and sauteed with). It was one of the best dishes I have ever had and priced only at 900 birr. With many new restaurants opening in Addis Ababa like Marcus Addis and C-Prem, Five Loaves seems to have the capablility to compete with those restaurants although it lacks... 1. During the middle of of our lunch / brunch service, the staff that is supposedly to start work at around noon just stormed in through the front door and at that with some staff carrying their aprons in their hands and greeting one another in the middle of the floor and asking the earlier staff the statuses of the morning service. 2. Some great painings / photos are placed on the walls throughout the restaurant, but seem to be dirty, old and not aligned. 3. Shouldn't you have a reception at the door? But my overall experience at this place was beyond my expectation. It was amazing. I can not wait to return and try other dishes I read in the menu like Roasted Whole Chicken and Chicken Parmesan.
Bisrat A — Google review
I have a strong affection for the new location. The outdoor seating is delightful, and there are no disruptive noises. It boasts an ideal setting with excellent parking facilities. The food consistently exceeds expectations, and I highly recommend trying the chef's specials that are not listed on the menu, such as the stuffed chicken. Dine to the fullest
Betty E — Google review
The new Five Loaves is honestly amazing. The old one was great, but this new branch just takes it up a notch — the vibe, the setup, everything feels leveled up. Warm, classy, n chill at the same time. We had a few things — Chicken Parmesan, a combo plate, steak, n the Quesadilla(with chicken). That Quesadilla tho… hands down one of the best things I’ve tasted in a long time. Perfectly seasoned, cheesy, n crispy with that soft pita wrap n side sauce— pure goodness. The Chicken Parmesan was also great, combo was solid, n even the steak (while not the standout) was still good. Everything came out fresh n full of flavor. Price-wise, it’s actually super fair — most mains fall between 1K–2K birr, which is pretty good for the premium quality you get. Service was smooth, staff were nice, n the atmosphere just makes u wanna stay longer. Overall, easy 5/5 — top-tier spot for good food, chill vibes, n a bit of class without the pretense
Leul A — Google review
From the warm atmosphere to the exceptional service and delicious food, everything about this restaurant exceeded my expectations. It’s refreshing to find such a high-quality dining experience in Ethiopia. I’m truly impressed and will definitely be coming back. A well-deserved 5-star rating!
Yemema W — Google review
The food was good. They seem understaffed when the house is full. It has a good atmosphere. It’s a good place to go as a family or groups.

What a place!! I've been wanting to vist it for years now & I finally did. And I am so so happy not just for coming here but to actually enjoy & love every little thing from food, service, atmosphere (both outside and inside). I agree with the price being a bit expensive for sure but I had the most amazing experience & our food was delicious with lots of flavor in it! Totally and absolutely Recommended!!
Afom K — Google review
Food was underwhelming. We ordered eggs, bacon and toast which was actually good. But the salmon dish and the croissants were disappointing. Everything including the sides of roast potatoes etc was cold and the salmon was dry and nothing tasted fresh. On the positive side, the servers were very polite and the ambience was nice. I was hoping for better and fresher food.
Michael J — Google review
The food is top tier a bit on the expensive side, but if you wanna impress people, it is a great place to recommend. We had the steak sandwich, house burger, and grilled fish. Let me tell you when i say best fish i had in addis, couldn't get enough. To top it off, they even have great desert. It's definitely one to try!!

KOBA Patisserie & Bakery | Atlas Branch is a hidden gem for cake enthusiasts and luxury dining aficionados. The cafe offers an exquisite selection of cakes made with top-notch ingredients, ensuring each bite is a delightful blend of flavors and textures. In addition to the delectable sweet treats, the menu features a variety of savory options such as sandwiches and gourmet salads, expertly prepared to cater to discerning tastes.
The Atlas branch is a beautiful and spacious café, and I truly enjoyed my cappuccino. However, I was a bit disappointed with the service experience. The bill was brought to me just two minutes after my drink was served, without asking if I needed anything else. I had actually mentioned to the waiter that I would like to pick up some bread from the bakery before closing the bill. I believe it would enhance the customer experience if staff could confirm with guests before finalizing the bill.
Juliana S — Google review
Lovely spot for pastries and chill vibes! Super clean with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere perfect for hanging out. Cakes are delicious, they also have a decent menu of foods to choose from and service is very friendly. It can get a bit slow when crowded, but overall a sweet place to unwind and enjoy.
Mic J — Google review
Be it to get your daily dose of macchiato, dessert indulgence to your sweet tooth, or a variety of snacks for you and your loved ones, Koba has it all. I went there with 7- & 10-year-olds and they enjoyed the space as well as the snacks. Of course, finding parking and the amount of money you spend doesn't make it a place for the faint-hearted.
Etsub Z — Google review
Koba is a diaspora and international hub. This was another recommended place, we went late in the evening and it was a very chilled and spacious environment. I was informed it gets quite packed during the day. However, I enjoyed the Cheesecake, Eclair and the Earl Grey Tea. An overall nice cafe that I would recommend.
Swiss N — Google review
Koba Altas never disappoints. Having dragged half a dozen hungry friends and colleagues for dinner, one call got us a reservation for 5 on a 20-minute notice. After a long conference, everyone relaxed enjoyed their meal and went home happy and sated. From their Marry Me pasta to Kung Pao Chicken and the platter of mini burgers, this menu offers dishes from around the world. 8 times out of 10, they deliver on taste, plating, and service. My favorite is the tagliatelle with meatballs. I've even ordered this to-go, and it was satisfying and rich without being greasy. The pastries sit in a long, shining glass display proudly presenting temptations of many, many flavors - chocolate and fudge, cream filled goodies, glazed round things, green and orange and so much more. From whole cakes to cookies, chocolate, and bread loaves, there is something for everyone.
Aida A — Google review
Best service, even with it being packed and busy all the time they never neglect you constantly come and check on you and are very friendly! The food is always really good I’m always pleasantly surprised because you wouldn’t take them for a restaurant’ it’s always very filling. Highly recommend!
Sesina — Google review
Refined treats and cool sips at KOBA Atlas 🧁🧊☕ Visited KOBA Patisserie & Bakery | Atlas Branch and tried their iced Americano alongside a slice of chocolate fudge cake 🍫. The coffee was smooth and refreshing—perfectly chilled with a clean, slightly bold finish. It paired beautifully with the cake, which was rich, dense, and indulgent without being overly sweet. A satisfying duo for a quiet afternoon break. The ambiance at KOBA is stylish and cozy, with plush seating and elegant decor that makes it feel more like a boutique café than a typical bakery. Staff were courteous and attentive, and the presentation of both items was on point 🎀🫶. KOBA is known for its handcrafted pastries and artistic cakes, and this visit lived up to that reputation. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick coffee or settling in for dessert, it’s a lovely spot to unwind. Highly recommend KOBA Atlas for anyone seeking refined sweets and specialty coffee in a serene setting 🌟🧊.

A friend and myself tried Salad and croissant sandwich and it was delicious. Place has good ambience with an attractive interior design and waiters are pretty responsive. I guess cheesecakes are their signature. Prices are relatively higher but not a complete rip-off

Italian restaurant
Olive and Bread Kebena is an Italian restaurant with a pleasant layout and decor. The lasagna and Spaghetti ragu bolognese are excellent, served in medium-sized portions with high-quality ingredients. It's considered a classy place for a date or business lunch, offering dishes like mozzarella pesto chicken pizza with quality cheese. The restaurant has a beautiful design with authentic Italian dishes such as bruschetta and tomato soup served with ciabatta bread.
10 out of 10 for everything. Had a blast here. The food was delicious with a nice variety of classic italian dishes. The staff were attentive and super nice. The ambiance had a nice and cozy feel to it. The only downside is the prices were on the higher end, so it might not be the most budget friendly option for most. It definitely gave my wallet a knockout. Overall i will recommend this place for its fantastic food and environments.
Hannah.M — Google review
Olive & Bread is a delightful spot that truly lives up to its name. The ambiance is spacious, peaceful and cosy; perfect whether you're catching up with friends, enjoying a quiet solo meal or looking for a relaxed dining experience. What really stands out is the service. The waiting staff are incredibly attentive, showing a warm smile and making sure everything runs smoothly without being intrusive. It adds a personal and welcoming touch to the entire visit. The food? Absolutely delicious. From the first bite to the last, each dish is thoughtfully prepared and bursting with flavor. And to top it all off, the prices are very reasonable for the quality and experience you get. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a calm, feel-good dining experience without breaking the bank. Enjoy!
Henokabba — Google review
We ordered the ragu Bolognese and the herb-crusted beef fillet — both dishes were excellent. The beef was a bit bland and arrived a bit cold, which was the only downside. The atmosphere is comfy and charming, making it a great spot for both date nights and family dinners. If you're coming with a larger group, it's a good idea to make a reservation in advance. They also offer a variety of desserts — we tried the tiramisu, which was decent.
Sena K — Google review
I went to Olive and Bread Kebena for a work dinner and really enjoyed the experience. The ambiance is beautiful and cozy, perfect for a relaxed evening. The lasagna I had was rich and flavorful, and my co-workers were equally pleased with their meals. Great food, lovely setting, and friendly service — definitely a place I’d revisit! B4 and after of my lasagna dish …
Berhan T — Google review
Decided to try this Italian restaurant based on reviews and location. Pleasantly surprised with the restaurant layout and decor. They asked if we wanted to sit inside or out and we chose inside. The bread they served was mediocre and the spicy sauce was not authentic, but ok. We picked the lasagna and the Spaghetti ragu bolognese. Both were excellent in medium sized portions. The shredded cheese on top was a nice touch. Ingredients seemed high quality. Mouthwatering good. Will return.

We had an amazing time at Olive and Bread ! The food was absolutely delicious . we tried the steak, lasagna, and fish, and every dish exceeded our expectations. The portions were generous, and the flavors were spot on. The service was outstanding; the staff were warm, attentive, and made us feel truly welcome. We were celebrating my parents’ anniversary, and the atmosphere made it even more special. I loved every bit of the experience – highly recommended! Thank you

Kaldis Coffee is often referred to as the Starbucks of Ethiopia, a country renowned for its rich coffee heritage. While some may find the prices on the higher side, especially compared to local spots, Kaldis offers a delightful experience for coffee lovers. Their macchiato is particularly popular when paired with milk, and if you're in the mood for something traditional, their black coffee won't disappoint.
I had Macchiato and Banana cake was good. The service is nice. Whenever i go to kaldis i always order Banana cake it is delicious. The make it so good. I always enjoy it. There Macchiato also tastes good.
Soulomon D — Google review
The one at Bole International Airport is a bit pricey, the employees aren’t the most polite and they practice they own exchange rate, valuing the local currency over the USD and euro a bit more than it really is. All things considered, the food isn’t bad at all.
Miguel C — Google review
Bole airportis the main hub of Ethiopian airlines, Africa's largest airline in terms of passengers carried, destinations served, fleet size, and revenue. The airport was therefore built to handle crowds, and it does that perfectly well. During peak hours, there is still space for everyone. Sadly while the airlines is doing quite well, the same can't be said for the airport. The massive space is underwhelming and feels like a lost opportunity with only a handful of duty free shops, a scattering of pricey restaurants (Burger King with $25 Burgers!). My highlight is looking forward to using the Airbus A350.
Joseph M — Google review
Kaldis is the Starbucks of Ethiopia which is the original coffee growing country. Coffee here is great if with milk. (It is called macchiato) here. If you want black coffee, order the traditional coffee. This is not a place for great food but snacks, cakes and small bites. The price is relatively cheaper here for everything. The secret is to know what to order. Enjoy !
Yared G — Google review
Kaldis Coffee used to be a place where I enjoyed their ice cream and Cake very well, I heard they have a very good Coffee as well, but I bought there today and I can’t believe to say this from such a big brand, but I found a gum shredded into the ice cream, the strawberry flavoured ice cream had gums inside and the vanilla tested like an expired milk. I’m sorry to say this but I’m very disappointed.
Ikhlas A — Google review
Overpriced coffee which would be okay at the airport but the taste… don’t want to know when they properly cleaned the machine last time. On top of that the dude tricked me on the exchange rate - and tipped himself another 5% on top of the more than 20% I already tipped him. Long story short: this place is to be avoided based on my experience. Pity. I really looked forward to it because last time (2021) I had excellent, strong coffee here.
Moritz B — Google review
Had to grab a quick bite from here. The service was good they were so kind to me. The price is a bit expensive just like any shops inside an airport.
Sekina H — Google review
Tipp Off and staff so pushy that it's annoying! The staff was very pushy, I usually avoid this kind of shops, when I don't feel comfortable. In this case they had fresh paw paw. I asked if we can buy the whole fruit and have it cut. They wanted 6 USD for that. It was a lot but I thought ok, for the whole fruit, fine. I didn't get the whole fruit, just a small cup. Upstairs double the size of cup was 4 USD at another shop. :(

I go to mulmul across the city and have never had problems but this branch in particular has the absolute worst service. The staff (except cashier) are horribly rude and ignore customers when they walk in. I need to ask at least two or three times to get them to fill my order every time I go. Basil restaurant is a very nice place located around Karl square In front of fikre they have a calm and a very good spot with nice view. And I really recommend the chicken cream soup it’s very delicious
Mume R — Google review
So I was excited to try their different basil flavored foods, but Ofcourse they didn’t have basil that day 🙃 really can’t make it up LOL. We ordered a few different things and the food was OK. Their food has zero salt but that’s not always a bad thing. It was for the lasgna tho since it needs a little bit in the sauce. Nothing to come back for.. however their pizza was amazing!! Brick oven pizza came very quickly and it was delicious. I also had cocktails but nothing that makes me wanna go back. It’s very spacious, you can sit inside or out which I loved. When the weather is nice, it’s definitely a nice place to have pizza.
Feben A — Google review
A nice Place, great service but the food is not good.

Mahlet K — Google review
This place is one of the best in town, from tasty fresh food to smile face of the staff, campfire at front door, tasty dessert and mouse watering bakery...... If you need a place to din in with family and with your love, this is a place to be !!!!!

Choice Guest House Addis Ababa, located in Gotera, offers a comfortable and affordable stay amidst the bustling city. The guest house provides clean rooms with the option for daily cleaning and additional services like food and laundry upon request. Guests can enjoy breakfast with warm dishes and local specialties on-site. The staff is known for their excellent service, making visitors feel at home. The beautiful surroundings include shops and eateries, while the guest house itself remains secluded.
I highly recommend it. They offer delicious meals. The rooms are well maintained and clean.
Ewelina K — Google review
Tucked away behind the Gotera intersection this guest house is a hidden gem. Actually there are 2 locations close to each other and both are equally charming. The location closest to the garage on the main road at the top of the lane is older and more basic but clean, well maintained and with hot water. For a budget guest house it has to be the best deal in Addis Ababa. The 2nd, newer location is a little further down the lane, quieter and more up market. The rooms are spacious with wood used throughout, fitted with fridge and sink unit to make a homely and liveable feel. The service at both locations is very good. Both locations have pleasant smoking areas. It may be a good idea to call and book as it seems quite popular which is no surprise given the value for money. Gotera as a location may seem a little out of the way but it is easy and quick to get to Bole Rd and the local area has lots of old style shops and restaurants etc. Fully recommended.
Colin G — Google review
Rooms are kept clean (cleaned everyday if requested). Food/laundry service is provided per request (additional cost). I stayed for over 2+ months. I saw different things but considered Choice to be a good deal. It's fairly cheap and in a good location.
Yonnas — Google review
The surrounding area is full of shops and food and plenty of amazing people, but the Choice Guest House truly delivers a comfortable affordable place to stay that is secluded amongst all the bustle. The staff in my book (I have pretty high standards) are very good at making you feel comfortable with whatever you need AND there is no question that they enjoy their job. If you have a chance to stay, you will not be disappointed.

This horrible place I'll give them 0 🌟 cheap service do not trust online reservations it's fake i mean it's not real price they will charge you over there is a lot of mosquitoes 🦟 inside a room they're tvs didn't work 📺 thanks for cheap service

If you're on the hunt for a delightful culinary experience, Grand Bakery is a must-visit destination. This charming spot offers an impressive array of pizzas, including mini-pizzas perfect for a quick snack or breakfast. Their baked goods are simply irresistible, with muffins that will leave you craving more. While the customer service can be hit or miss—sometimes feeling a bit inattentive—the delicious offerings make it worth the visit.
Delicious pizza anytime of the day or night open 24/7 with consistently great service. One of the best spot for a quick and tasty bite___ highly recommended!
Abdoulrachid H — Google review
This bakery is awesome.. The sausage pizza is something else, take a croissant on your way out.
Khaled S — Google review
Great spot if you're in the mood for pizza. They also have mini-pizza's on the go if you're looking for a snack or breakfast. Their muffins are also amazing. But customer service is infuriating. I always wonder why I subject myself to their ignorance everytime I go there. The cashier will literally ignore you like you never existed. I don't know what I did to her, I always pay upfront. But if you can endure that, the baked goods are to die for.
Semawit A — Google review
This place always delivers if I feel hungry and want to grab a pizza and other snacks they will have Ur back 24 hours. In the afternoon it might be hot inside but u can always take away Ur pizza or order a cold drink to fight off the hot air inside.
Eyob A — Google review
Very affordable yummy pizza here.. They have also cookies..
ABU M — Google review
Their price and the taste is great specially the special pizza. The only issue that I would not give them a 5 star is that customer service is below average. You sort of have to beg them to cone serve you.
Fasil G — Google review
I literally followed my nose to get to this place: I went jogging in the cool at sunrise, and the smell of fresh baking was so wonderful that I retraced my steps a few hours later just to find it again. I was not disappointed: they make a terrific selection of breads, pastries, pizzas and more. Naturally, the Ethiopian coffee was sensational. I had breakfast there every day after that.
Richard H — Google review
I thought the pizza would be like it was back in the day when they were more widespread and affordable. There wasn’t enough cheese on the pizza and it was actually not satisfactory the place was styled well the service was below average overall underwhelming.

Chewy Sweet Factory is a charming little spot that has embraced the popular Henrico/Konditorei/Magna cake style, offering a unique twist on traditional desserts. While their prices are slightly higher at 45 birr per piece, some items may not meet expectations in terms of quality. The boxegna features buttercream filling instead of custard, which might surprise some patrons.
Very GOOD
Dagne B — Google review
The place is small, so it would be better to get a takeaway. I'd recommend their tarts, especially the chocolate tart. The other cakes are okay, nothing too special about it.
Elias M — Google review
Their cake is good, but not the 🤎.
Fitalew B — Google review
They have a variety of mini cakes . I liked the millifuelli better. The place is very small. I recommend a take out.
Michael A — Google review
Don't bother! So, Chewy has hopped on to the Henrico/Konditorei/Magna style cake BUT, eventhough it is MORE EXPENSIVE (45birr/pc) than any of them 1)it is NOT made well-the boxegna has buttercream filling instead of custard 🤢, The chocolate custard tastes like cheap donut glazing, the Mille-feuille tastes like the same thing you'd find in the cheap neighborhood bakery 2)they do not refrigerate their cake, and brace yourselves, warm, room temp cake is actually weird tasting 🤮 3) you have to buy six cakes to get a badly printed take away box

The warm hospitality from the staff adds to the overall experience, making every visit feel special.
I love the ice cream and the staffs kindness is priceless
Leoul F — Google review
I will NEVER recommend Beka Bakery & Pastry. I ordered a Birthday cake for my son and agreed on a price of ETB 3,800. They baked the cake one day and half before our agreed time and LIED ABOUT IT. They said it was baked in the morning when we have evidence that it was baked a day ago. We did not finally take the cake but if we didn't know the fact, we would have taken it and my son and his Birthday mates would have been sick, God forbid!!! Secondly, they tried to convince us that all pastries do the same thing and lie about the time their cakes are made. This is completely unbelievable. In addition to the above, they baked the ugliest cake which doesn't have any similarity with the cake we ordered. We didn't take the cake and they said they will not return our money. My son's birthday was not ruined because we got another Pastry save us last minute but I will never recommend anyone to use this Pastry and take a risk on their life because of their lies.

The macchiato here is simply divine—rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced. The espresso is bold yet not bitter, and the velvety milk foam adds just the right touch of creaminess. Served at the ideal temperature with beautiful latte art. The barista clearly knows their craft! A must-try for coffee lovers. Will definitely be back for more. ☕️🖤

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Taem Bakery and Pastry, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately set the tone for a delightful visit. The bakery's selection of freshly baked goods was truly impressive. The pastries were meticulously crafted, with flavors that danced on my taste buds. The croissants were flaky and buttery, while the decadent cakes and tarts left me craving more. But it wasn't just the baked goods that impressed me - the cafe service was equally remarkable. The baristas were attentive and knowledgeable, guiding me through the menu and helping me select the perfect beverage to complement my pastry. The coffee was expertly brewed, with a smooth and rich flavor that was simply divine. The overall service was impeccable, with the staff demonstrating a genuine commitment to ensuring my satisfaction. What truly made my experience at Taem Bakery and Pastry stand out was the attention to detail and the obvious pride the team takes in their work. If you're wandering through Addis Ababa, make sure to stop by Meskel Flower, a modern bakery and pastry haven that truly deserves more recognition. Known for their delightful pastries that stay fresh for days, this spot offers an exceptional bombolino that's considered one of the finest in the city. Their bread is equally impressive, maintaining its freshness over time. Don't miss out on their English cake—it's simply delicious!
One of the best bakeries in Addis Ababa. And they have another branch in Lebu, by the varnero roundabout. The bread and the pastries are always so fresh and delicious. Highly recommend it! 🤗
