Lots of Royal Marines memorabilia, nice pint and nice feel to the place. Just down from wetherspoons and far better pub. Food just served lunch time so couldn't say.

Fantastic little pub with lots of military memorabilia. 5 of us had a pint on the way to the motorbike meet. Bar staff great and locals friendly.

Every time we are going shopping in Poole, this is our stop! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the background music is great, people are really friendly and they have great selection of drinks. Oh and dog friendly.
Flo S — Google review
Dropped in for drinks one afternoon, Rugby World Cup was on so great atmosphere, Staff were very friendly (possibly landlady) and helpful, dogs were very welcomed too 😊
Chris S — Google review
Good old local pub close to the town centre and the landlord appears to be ex-services. Outside is a slightly iffy looking covering over the seating area but it certainly keeps you dry and warm which tbh is all that you need. First pub I've drank in with its own lifeboat!! Fairly good selection of ales and a decent price as well. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend a stop here if you want a break from shopping.
Chris R — Google review
Went in for a Sunday Lunch, without booking, but luckily there was some seating available outside in the marquee. A little bit strange to order and pay for your drinks at the bar but then to order and pay for your food with the server separately, but it was fine, just not we’re used to. There was a bit of a wait for the server, Karen, to take our food order, but it was busy with some couples ahead of us, so it was understandable and Karen was SO friendly and bubbly, nothing fazed her. When the food arrived and we got stuck in it was worth they wait, my husband had pork and gammon and I had beef, the meats were perfectly tender and delicious with great roasties, large Yorkshire and side veggies. All the staff were very friendly and made sure everything was ok, we would happily return for a roast any Sunday!

Seafood restaurant
Fine dining restaurant
Guildhall Tavern is a renowned restaurant in a charming part of Poole's old town, offering classic French cuisine and signature seafood dishes in a simple, nautical-themed dining room. The menu features varied choices including posh burgers and pizzas. The restaurant also boasts an elegant cocktail lounge with mouthwatering signature and classic cocktails, as well as happy hour specials on select days.
We had the pleasure of booking the Guildhall Tavern for our wedding lunch reception and we had the most spectacular food and wine pairings topped with the best service. Our guests absolutely enjoyed the menu that was curated for the occasion by the chef. We are still raving about the food almost a month later. Also, if you're there please do try the English Sparkling Wine (Champagne) it was divine. Thank you to the Guildhall Tavern team for giving us the best treatment and elevating our dining experience, making our day even more special.

Amazing seafood and steak at the Guildhall Tavern tonight. We’ve been coming for years and it’s one of the best restaurants in Bournemouth/Poole in our opinion. Ingredients are always fresh, great taste, wonderful service, welcoming ambience with nice decor. We will be back again soon!

What a delightful evening. We were searching for a place for a special celebration and the reviews looked great so we booked a table. The food was DELICIOUS and the service from Dom and Apple was also delightful. I had the days Special - which was Massamon curry with huge pieces of meaty fish and an amazing sauce which was like lobster bisque meets Thailand - absolutely fabulous. My husband had the platter with catch of the day - also stunning. We even squeezed in a chocolate fondant to round it all off! I only wish we had found it sooner!!
Janet T — Google review
Simply the best restaurant I’ve eaten at in Poole and the best Sunday Roast I’ve had in 10 years. The staff were superb, the Chefs are artists as far as I’m concerned and I had a great pleasure talking to Alan who’s the owner who was eating at the table next to me and chatting to guests and the pride in his restaurant and love for his staff and customers was so apparent. I’ve never felt so welcomed, looked after and enjoyed a leisurely Sunday meal like it
Cr U — Google review
Everything was at a high level. The dishes were delicious, and I personally liked the scallops. The service was excellent. The main dishes were not served quickly, although the restaurant was not fully loaded. A nice bonus from the restaurant for my birthday. Overall, I recommend it.
Igor I — Google review
Wow, what a fantastic find, we went here today, and i am seriously impressed with the quality of the food, in particular the fish cookery, I've eaten seafood around the world, and this comes out on top of all the seafood I've eaten, top marks to the chef, and all the great staff, we will definitely be back, and I have no hesitation in recommending this fantastic restaurant 💜 And it's dog friendly too, massive bonus points there too
S S — Google review
The food was superb and the service was great. Really liked that they sell a locally made Prosecco. Only small downside was the beer choices—not the best, but the bottled IPA was actually really good.
David G — Google review
Great food well presented, well cooked and well served - good knowledge - Restaurant high standard in the area, be prepared for decent food with a cost attached - # Ensure to check fixed priced menu is actually accurately available as advertised on website #

Poped in yesterday and was totally amazed by how lovely this pub is it makes its own ales very nice that are to. The place is spotless very welcoming with great staff. Unfortunately didn't have time to eat but intend to return soon I have posted pictures. Great management 👏
Mulder M — Google review
Amazing pub. Service was friendly and great including beer tasters to decide which I wanted. I had one of their local brews and roast chicken dinner. The food came out quickly and was excellent. Tender chicken with two pieces, a breast with wing and a leg. Roast potatoes, carrot and parsnip and a Yorkshire pudding accompanied the meat. Totally enjoyed it. You can pay up front or have a tab. Pub was fairly quiet but enough people to be lively at 8pm on a Sunday night. Server Callum was great, thanks!
Paul P — Google review
A fantastic brewing experience day! My father and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and felt very welcomed by the team. Euan was particularly accommodating, had great knowledge and an obvious passion for brewing! Lots of great memories, wonderful facts and flavours to savour for years to come 🙏

Fabulous!!! Scrumptious Sunday dinner!!! Thank you, Glen, for finding me a seat short notice. I'm so happy you did. Best meal I've had in two weeks in England. I'm so happy I found the Poole Brewhouse. Thanks to the chef, too. He made my business trip a happy full one. Your staff are awesome!!!
Rosie F — Google review
Found this great place while having a wander round Poole so we decided to pop in for beer on a lovely warm day so glad we did the bar staff were excellent telling us all about the beer the brew and letting us sample a few before we chose our tipple of choice we decided to stay for a few beers and then stayed for some lovely food
Lee J — Google review
Service was pleasant and timely. Toilets wreaked of urine. Dining area was cold. Door to garden area open wide at 7pm on a cool night. Drinks were good. Food was poor. 4/10, 6/10 and 6½/10 for main dishes. I went home after & got myself some food that I enjoyed. What's the point of going out to a place like this if you can do considerably better at home? Parking is on street or public car park. Either way it costs £2.50 for 2 hours at a machine or £2.70 via Ringo! Add that on your bill.
Baby D — Google review
Super friendly service from Hannah which made up for the lack of availability of food on the menu. She handled it really well and luckily we were able to make alternative choices. Most of what we chose was great, although the pulled shiitake mushrooms weren’t to our taste! Can highly recommend the Mac n cheese. Wide range of drinks available and the place has a good vibe, loved the decor.

Rope & Anchor is a charming English pub located near Poole Quay, known for its cozy atmosphere and delightful interior decor. It's a popular spot for locals and visitors alike, offering a range of cask ales, live music, and a varied menu with quality home-cooked food. The pub also boasts an outdoor courtyard and is dog-friendly, making it the perfect place to stop after a long walk along the coast.
Some of the best food ever! The owners are genius at what they do. Had some of the best food ever- baked Camembert, pate to die for, an I can’t even give justice to the cheese and dessert. We all loved it!!!
Jenny N — Google review
Me and my girlfriend came here Thursday for Dinner and we opted for the Ploughman’s board and the Cheesecake of the day. Martyn’s service was phenomenal and the food from Tom (chef) was superb🙌🏻. Will be coming back here again
Connor W — Google review
We have a tradition of going out for a family meal on the first Sunday of the month and decided that a return visit to the Rope & Anchor was in order. It's a Wadworth pub so a good selection of real ales available and the cellarman is doing a great job. The food is very much standard pub choices plus Sunday roasts and a few specials. Excellent value for money, well cooked, crackling cruncy and good yorkshire. I did find the cauliflower cheese a bit disappointing. The cauliflower was well cooked, suitably aldente, but the cheese sauce lt it down, a bit waterery which saw it pooling at the bottom of the dish, rather than coating the cauliflower. Conversely the Dorset Cheese Board at theend of the meal was a real highlight, rich in flavours and with a really good chutney. Atmosphere waqs relaxed, staff attentive, good value.
Neil K — Google review
Very nice pub! The waiter was super friendly and helpful. The burgers were exceptional and the fries very crispy and delicious. The price was also good! They did have a little service charge, but told us about it when we wanted to leave a tip.
Christian B — Google review
Good service in a traditional pub, unfortunately the fish in batter was really not good.
David G — Google review
Came here for the first time for the Sunday roast dinner and all 3 of us are presently surprised at how good the food was; the portions are generous, even the meat, and everything tasted really good and fresh. The left overs from nan's roast (as stayed, very generous) was wrapped really well to take home. This is one of the only places my Notoriously fussy Nan has actually liked! The staff are friendly and the place is clean, stylish with a shipshape feel to it. Booking is recommended.

Excellent "dog friendly" jewel! Really enjoyed our fish and chips. My partner has swordfish and said it was very nice. Drinks selection lovely and staff very friendly. Will be back next time we visit Poole.

"The Grasshopper" is a charming 19th-century pub-restaurant that exudes character and comfort. Recently renovated, it offers a relaxed and intimate atmosphere, with the option to enjoy drinks outside in good weather. The menu features freshly roasted Sunday specials, including a 28-day aged West Country beef roast and a vegetarian Parsnip and Cranberry Nut roast. Additionally, the establishment serves colorful coffee, has a dedicated kids' menu, and provides function room facilities.
Elaina is a fantastic member of staff and makes superb coffee. The food is to die for and the ambience is wonderful. Well worth a visit
Samantha A — Google review
My Brother chose The Grasshopper as it was his 50th! Large open space ... fairly quiet maybe because it was Bank Holiday Monday lunchtime ?? I ordered Chicken Roast last dinner which wasn't available so had Beef - stated "pink" on menu but far too uncooked for me - the rest of the dinner was delicious. All 6 of us had desserts - my Nephew chose waffles, was asked 1 or 2, decided on 2 but was then told they only had 1 left. Apart from the "not available's" we all enjoyed the meal and the venue :) A
Julie K — Google review
Service here was appalling & slow staff didn’t seem happy & the food was lukewarm, the chips tasted slightly frozen & not hot in the middle.. my partner came expecting a chicken roast on this Sunday & turns out they told us there was no chicken in the kitchen! So decided to order something else. Coke was completely flat & then they said they gave me a bottle replacement in a glass however that seems a lie as that was completely flat as-well. It was very dead atmosphere & I can now see why! I do Not recommend.
Freshlymade Z — Google review
Good service, was served by bartender called Peter, who was friendly and efficient. Bonus points for him dropping our lemon on the floor making my friend and I chuckle quite a bit, but he gave us a new one so all was good 👌
Anouk A — Google review
Wow, I had such an amazing experience and I'm still thinking about it! The food was absolutely delicious; every single bite was a burst of flavour 😋. Also, the service was truly top-notch, with the staff being super attentive and friendly especially Mary Lou who I felt like she really went the extra mile to make sure we were happy and satisfied. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good time with great food. I can't wait to go back again soon!
Matt W — Google review
Clean and tidy Great service Food was really tastey tasty, a little pricy but worth it Recommend
Mr A — Google review
Went today for a late lunch. This is my local so I have to be loyal... but that's not difficult because it's a great pub. Lovely staff, excellent food. Restaurant if you fancy formal or the bar which is cosy and has a fire. Lots of outdoor tables with heating. Pub quiz Monday and DJ on Saturday. Dogs welcome. I've posted a range of food from the different menus they offer, their Christmas dinner was really good
Ingrid S — Google review
A few months ago this would have been a 5 star review, but sadly no longer. My friend and I have been having coffee at the Grasshopper for several years now. We arrive at 11 when it opens. Until a couple of months ago the staff were friendly and efficient. Now there is one person serving who also seems to be overseeing building work. This week we ordered our usual coffees, sat outside and waited, and waited and waited. Customers arriving after us had their drinks so my friend investigated. Our coffees were on a filthy tray waiting on the counter. The staff member confirmed they were ours and said he'd forgotten to bring them out. The same thing happened the previous week too. I know it's not a busy time of day but the service needs be better. Other regular coffee goers have commented to us that they have noticed a downturn in service and they, like us, are looking for alternative places to go. I would have thought that some money from coffee drinkers was better than no money at all.

Nestled right by the quay, The Portsmouth Hoy is a charming waterfront pub that captures the essence of maritime history. Its vibrant blue exterior beckons visitors in, while inside, the warm wooden decor and nautical memorabilia create an inviting atmosphere reminiscent of an old galleon. With stunning views across the harbor, it’s a perfect spot to unwind with a refreshing Badger real ale or indulge in fresh local seafood—mussels being a standout dish.
What a great pub:character, atmosphere, great food and lovely staff. We had a lovely evening. We had Scampi,Lasagne and prawns and drank G+T,Guinness and and Hazy Badger ale.Just perfect.

Lovely pint of Tangle Foot in nice surroundings. Great staff, nice clientele, although I didn't eat there it was nicely busy with people doing so and the food looked great .. and as a couple of bonuses for me as someone just calling in for a drink, there were seats available and the pub didn't smell of food (something I dislike) All good!
Jason H — Google review
Such a lovely, unique pub. Very traditional, a place you would only experience in Poole. It was busy when I went in but we managed to get seats at the bar and were served soon enough. I didn't eat there but I will in future as the food looked lovely and I heard others talking about how lovely their meals were. A really special place.
Yasmin M — Google review
We visited on a Sunday in June 2023, having popped in around 6 months earlier for a pint just before they closed. This time we were there for opening and after checking the menu decided to try the Sunday Roast. We weren't disappointed as the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the food was out of this world. Both the Pork and Beef options came with all the trimmings you'd expect and the veg was especially delicious. Really good portion sizes too. It did get quite busy whilst we were eating, so booking ahead is probably advisable if you want to guarantee a table. But whether you're there for food or just a drink, you won't find a friendlier pub on Poole Quay.
James H — Google review
Just about as good as fish and chips gets on Poole quay. Washed down with a pint of cruz campo. What else do you need.

Fantastic pub....beautifully decorated in nautical theme. Had several of their seafood dishes and they were very fresh and tasty. Plenty of space inside, so ideal for families. Highly recommend

Just a lovely roast dinner. The homemade cauliflower cheese was the best I’ve tasted for some time and it was lovely to have roast potatoes that were roasted and not deep fried! Pub staff all friendly and make you feel welcomed. I would highly recommend this place for food or just out for a drink.

2025 ane back in for bike night. New owners. Had a walk in by myself to sample the fish and chips without the seagulls swooping down, stealing. Deep sea divers old masks, boats, ships in glass tanks, not forgetting the barrels as tables. You can't get more ship orientated without being at sea. So, place was full in these times, one lonely table for a biker and his jacket. Back for bike night, 2024

Our two night stay was bought for us through Red Letter Day Experiences however, we are so glad we found this little gem to book. After battling cancer this place and the people is just what we needed. The place was great, the room was clean and surprisingly large, food was just beautiful but mostly the staff were exceptionally welcoming and accommodating. We were so close to Poole Quay which was great to explore, the sunshine was an added bonus. I would certainly stay again and encourage anyone venturing to Poole to give the Antelope a go. We are glad we did 😊

I'm up in Poole again to deliver some training.. So, I was looking somewhere to eat some food. After a good walk around the town I found myself stumbling upon this little pub. I was greeted by a really friendly member of staff and was advised to go and pick a seat out the back. I ordered myself the salt and pepper squid, a chicken and ham pie with mashed potato vegetables and onions rings and to finish off, I had Apple crumble with ice cream and custard. I'm not exaggerating here but the food was incredible, from the squid that was really fresh and cooked perfectly. Moving onto the pie it had a really nice thick crispy pastry with thick gravy and I'm not normally a fan of gravy but it was very nice. The mash potato was soft and you could tell it was fresh. The crumble was really nice although a smaller portion than I would normally have. It was just perfect as I am a bit greedy . There was a lovely atmosphere nice and cozy. If I come back to Poole, I would love to come back here again.

Food and service here was amazing tonight. The staff Toby and Lilly were very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Toby recommended the chocolate fondue dessert and it did not disappoint. Melting chocolate from the centre of the cake it was heaven. The pesto and halloumi salad was great and husband was very happy with his lamb shank. Great atmosphere and beautiful restaurant that has blended modern decor with the beams and arches of the original building.

Stayed for 2 nights. Room 12 on top floor which was billed as small double but plenty of room. The shower was awesome!!. Breakfast was cooked fresh and plenty of choice. Bar quite lively during the afternoons. Will certainly use it again in the future.

We stumbled upon the Antelopes Smugglers restaurant on our visit to Poole while on holiday in Dorset. And what a gem of a find. The setting has an old world meets modern decor, with the old brick work and wooden beams. It has clean modern bar and furniture. We were tired and hungry after our walk and I had the fish and chips and my partner had the beef rib bourgoignon. He said this was delicious, and my fish was fresh and so tasty. I can't comment on the hotel, as we didn't stay but the service in the restaurant was top rated. Our server Toby was helpful and attentive. Thank you

We found the Antelope by chance after receiving poor service from The Lord Nelson on the quay. We had meals and drinks there and the staff were so happy, friendly and welcoming. The pub had a great atmosphere with a DJ playing music for all tastes. The burgers were delicious and my husband said the sticky toffee pudding was the best he's ever had. We will definitely be returning.

The interior design is minimalist and Scandinavian-inspired, providing a stylish backdrop for the main event - an impressive display of fresh seafood offerings. The restaurant offers both casual brasserie dining on the lower level and more upscale white tablecloth service upstairs, with stunning sea views from the upper floor.
Another fantastic meal in Rick Stein's. We had the 4 course meal. Well you could say 5 as there was also an appetiser. The waiter was also amazing. We had a glass of Champagne each as we was celebrating our wedding anniversary and a small peice of brownie each for free. Can't wait till next year to go back.

I expected more from a Rick Stein restaurant. The one in Padstow was excellent, this was not. For the price paid and level of food expected it was severely disappointing to say the least. We were a bit disappointed with the starters..my Mrs coconut prawns had no taste of coconut whatsoever. My mackerel salad was mediocre. We had the goan lobster and herb lobster for main , and whilst it seemed good value with a glass of champagne thrown in with the deal; they were both under seasoned and under spiced, and were bland at best. The accompanying sides were worse than I’d expect at a 1 star restaurant though…presentation was severely lacking for the quality of restaurant this was advertising. The cucumber and lime salad was literally cucumber and some lime juice ( I take more care slicing cucumber evenly at home !) and the buttered potatoes were bland to say the least ( I put parsley or chives on at home). There seemed to be no love in the food preparation. This may be because we sat at 8.30 and it was late in the day , but this not excusable for a restaurant that sells itself as higher end. On the plus side, our service from Luke was impeccable. Really good. The atmosphere is great and the setting amazing. Still, it didn’t detract from the bland food.

Great location, nice and cosy inside. Could use a few less pillows on the seating so you can actually sit down. The food was amazing. I had the crab burger, I always live seeing crab as a choice on menus because it isn't very common. Stunning burger and desserts. Highly recommend.

Superb restaurant, impeccable staff - warm, down to earth but super good. Amazing views and the food was top notch. We had the Fancy fish and chips and were blown away by how good it was, Best Ever! The octopus and halloumi small plates were delicious too. Definitely a special occasion venue or just a really nice treat.

The menu/food selection is great. I ordered the coconut prawns starter, which were very crispy and seasoned beautifully and tasted great. My main course was the wonderful crab linguine. Again, very tasty. We had a centrally located table for the 7 of us with a fantastic harbour view.

Wow 😋 I was speechless. From food to staff customer service( many thanks to Paul, Emanuel and Elena who served me today; you were 10 out of 10 👍) skills to ambiance - everything went flawless. I am looking forward to my next visit. This is the place to visit if you love shellfish as much as I do 🦞🦪🍤

Treated myself daughter to a lunch here to celebrate her pregnancy. I said in my reservation that she had been through ivf and not been successful but now actually pregnant naturally, when we arrived we had the best table overlooking the harbour, with a congratulations balloon, the food was exceptional, the wine was fantastic, the fresh juice was so tasty and the service was impeccable.

We went for mother's 80th birthday. We asked for a table bt the window. The view from the table was fantastic. The food was exceptional and so was the service. They piped in chocolate on her plate Happy birthday. Nice touch.

Lovely breakfast experience, the food was amazing and the service was lovely. You get an amazing view of the ocean and you are close to the beach vibe. The florentine poached eggs were amazing but our fav were the poached eggs with avocado. Everything was perfectly cooked and so tasty. Great coffee as well and great staff. We came back the next day as we enjoyed so much the food

WestBeach offers a truly fabulous dining experience! While their vegan options are a bit limited, the aubergine dish I tried was absolutely delicious easily the best I’ve had there. The service was professional, friendly, and attentive, making the meal even more enjoyable. Plus, the beautiful seaside atmosphere with stunning views creates the perfect setting for a relaxed and memorable meal. I’d love to see more vegan dishes added to the menu in the future, but overall, a fantastic spot that I highly recommend!

Firstly, the food was really delicious, secondly it was quick, and most importantly, we came with four little kids who were sandy, restless and noisy, yet everyone was very friendly and calm about it — thank you for that! They serve fresh fish and freshly squeezed juices. The toilets were a bit dirty, but overall everything was great.

Fresh, delicious seafood right by the beach. Prices are a bit high for Bournemouth, but worth it for the quality. Great service from Kamil – attentive and helpful with menu suggestions. Highly recommend.

We went in for just a drink and ended up staying for dinner. Thai is the second time myself and my colleague have been to this place while in the area for work. Right on the front so you can see the sea and the pier, while watching the world go by. The food is so good always hot, cooked perfectly and served perfectly, the staff are always helpful and chatty. Will definitely be going in there again, highly recommended.

This place used to be good about 10 years ago, went there again to try it as we stopped going after it went downhill. Well, it just continues to drop in quality and service. They have maybe one staff member to serve us and the food was beyond bad, especially for the price. My bacon was barely cooked to the point it just made me heave. Takes ages for the server to come take your order and to take the bill or come to you if you need another drink. Won’t come again.

We had oysters -really good and calmares -chewy and tasteless so its difficult to judge overall. Atmoshere and staff nice, on the beach
G — Google review
Great spot but the food was a bit of a cheat. Got the seafood salad. Absolutely dreadful. So small it was served in the middle of a clam shell. Not so much salad with tortilla but tortilla with a spoon of salad. Like all dishes it was swimming with oil. Straight out of a packet. I don't understand how so many good restaurants go bust but they can charge £14 for this nonsense. The £16 Tuna Capaccio also tiny. No wonder there was no table check. The waiter was probably embarrassed. The sides were generous. Other half enjoyed his trout so added a * but this was also greasy. Excellent spot on the beach. It overlooks a party bar with good vibes but still get sea view

The Baker's Arms is a traditional country pub in Poole, serving hearty roasts, cask ales and lagers. The menu features slow cooked pork belly, hand carved turkey breast, marinated Lamb rump and sirloin of beef as vegetarian options.
The roast dinner here on a Sunday is outstanding. Big portion, great value for money. The lamb was delicious and all the vegetables were perfect for my tastes. This is a classic country pub atmosphere with friendly staff and a comfortable decor.

Just happened to stop by after a visit to Wareham market....and glad we did. I've not been here for 20 plus years, so it was a pleasant surprise. It certainly has improved greatly to what I remember. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful, which was lovely, as was the pub and its surroundings. The beer was lovely, and the scotch egg and fries were simply divine! We will endeavour to make sure we stop by more often!!

Cozy beautiful place, great service and delicious food. We didn't book the table, the place was busy on Saturday, but they still found a table for us. The service was fast the staff very polite and the food was excellent! I ordered sea bass and my partner odered fish amd chips. The fish was cooked perfectly- crispy outside and nice and succulent inside. We definitely recommend this place and if we will be in the area we would go to eat there again.

Who doesn't love a Sunday Roast in a beautiful country pub 😀 The Bakers Arms has had a recent refurbishment and WOW, it's stunning ! We had a Roast and Pie options - food was exceptional, unlimited gravy for roasts 👌 and it was great gravy! Lovely outdoor seating and plenty of it. We had great weather, it was just beautiful. Now this may be controversial - ** I don't advocate drink driving by any stretch ** I wasn't driving my sister was , it was a warm afternoon so she decided on one shandy with her dinner. She asked the barman what was the lowest alcohol options so she could have a shandy , she mentioned she was driving (you have to drive to the location, it's in the middle of nowhere ) The barman refused to serve her ! Which is fine that's his perogative as a responsible seller of alcohol. It was the way he presented himself, almost telling her off for her choice of drink. He didn't offer her any alcohol free options. So she settled on a soft drink, and it wasn't a big deal . It just felt very judgmental. Looking around the car park was packed, and there was plenty of wine on most tables ! My point is don't judge people, we are responsible drivers . If the drink drive policy was ZERO tolerance then I'd expect it ! Just put a sour taste on the experience 😔

Who doesn't enjoy a fantastic Sunday Roast at a cosy pub? The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The pub itself is spacious, yet its thoughtful layout makes you feel like you're in your own little corner, creating a truly special experience. And they also had a soft refurbishment. What really stood out, though, was the warmth, friendliness, and professionalism of the staff. Hats off to the management for clearly making great service a top priority. We had a lovely time enjoying our lunch in the garden, basking in the sun. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in Dorset!

What a fantastic pub. The service was incredible, there wasn’t any issue the staff couldn’t accommodate. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The children’s food selection was also really good too. My kids loved the food. The food was great and to a very good standard. I would throughly recommend this pub to everyone.

I came in yesterday with my family and was greeted by Ellie who took us to the table, told us the soup and pie of the day and let us know about the weekend treat menu. Ellie took our drinks order and then our waitress chrissie did a great job taking our food order and looking after us during our visit. The team looked like they all enjoyed working their as it was a busy Friday night. The two young men on the bar were very busy and making cocktails all evening. I thought why not as it’s a Friday night I’d treat myself to a few strawberry daiquiri’s. Food was brilliant so well done to all the team during our visit. Will be returning very soon.

Nestled in the heart of Bournemouth, Lolas Spanish Tapas Restaurant is a delightful haven for those craving authentic Spanish cuisine. This inviting and warmly-lit venue specializes in sharable tapas plates that are perfect for enjoying with friends or family. The extensive menu features a variety of dishes, from beloved classics like patatas bravas and garlicky prawns to more unique offerings such as ox cheeks and black pudding.
We loved our visit! The staff is wonderful and the food is incredible. It definitely felt like being in Spain. Couldn't recommend just one thing: everything we tried was superb. Croquetas, albóndigas, bravas, cheese, jamón... and the alioli! You MUST try it. Remember to save some space for dessert, though, as they're also delicious. Will definitely visit again the next time we're around.

Can't fault it. Good food. Good atmosphere. Friendly people. Would recommend. Edit: Noooooo it was all going so well but I had to dock a star, to be true to my values, for including gratuity on the bill. I would have tipped anyway, now I'm tipping with a bitter taste.

Fantastic find on Google reviews. Off the beaten track so unlikely to come across this place by accident. The waitress was fantastic. So friendly, outstanding service and even surprised my father with a complimentary birthday treat at the end. And as for the food, it was incredible. My favourite had to be the Spanish potatoes in a bacon and oil sauce. Can't recommend this place enough. Deserves 5 stars not 4.7

We enjoyed a beautiful evening here as a family this evening. Louise made my daughters (4 and 8) feel very welcome, and made them special drinks with juices and umbrellas whilst my husband and I enjoyed the sangria. The food was absolutely gorgeous - highly recommend the chorizo! 😍 Top service, top food, relaxed and welcoming environment - best restaurant we visited during our stay in Bournemouth.

Lola's is a family run and friendly Spanish restaurant specialising in tapas. Comparison with food served in mainland Spain is inevitable, but those comparison and prejudices should be left at the door. Lola's do their tapas dishes in their own style and some will be hit or miss. On our first visit in July 2021 we ordered a mixture of dishes including patas bravas, prawn pil-pil, grilled prawns, jamon croquettes, squid rings, and chocolate fondue which we greatly enjoyed. Highly recommended. Our second visit in June 2022 was just as good as the visit, highlights were the garlic prawns, patatas bravas and extra spicy pil-pil prawns. And the service was once again very friendly. Another visit to Lolas with the family in November 2024 and once again great tapas. The star being the garlic prawns. The most recent visit to Lolas was in July 2025 when my wife and I had sangria, pil-pil prawns, ham croquettes, squid rings, deep fried aubergines with honey, bread with alioli, and patatas bravas. Followed by creme catalan and Almond Tart for dessert. Muy buena.

Lola’s Tapas Restaurant is a great little, authentic restaurant. There is a good range of choice on the menu with all the usual favourites for a tapas. Sangria by the glass or jug with a choice of other drinks too. The service was friendly and quick. It’s not a big place and the atmosphere on a Saturday night was buzzing with great - but that does mean if you want to go you probably need a reservation.

We went to Lolas to celebrate our anniversary and it was such a wonderful experience. Magdalena was so friendly and kind. They put heart shaped candles and napkins on the table which was such a lovely touch. The food was also delicious! The music was fun but not too noisy. It was a great experience and would definitely recommend it!

Nestled conveniently near Poole, Holes Bay Table Table is a stylish chain pub that offers a delightful array of classic international dishes, grilled specialties, and mouthwatering burgers. Every Sunday, guests can indulge in a hearty roast featuring tender slow-cooked meats accompanied by all the traditional trimmings—think unlimited roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, and rich gravy—all for an unbeatable price.
Visited this place a few times over the years, and that is because consistently it delivers good food at good prices in comfortable surroundings. The place is popular with travellers and locals alike, so it's always best to book if thinking about visiting at busier times. If you are staying at the neighbouring Premier Inn, you have everything you need on hand from breakfast to snacks, etc, so there is no need to travel around to eat or drink.

Poor service, mistake after mistake and the state of the place is appalling. Cold food, wrong orders, the staff could not have cared less.

Very nice food, one of the best we’ve had at any Table Table or other Whitbread chains. Our server, Izzy, was very nice, polite and helpful. My burger was tasty, albeit the fries a bit chewy, but the desert, the profiterole sundae, was amazing, very nice. Would definitely recommend if staying at the Premiere Inn next door.

Thank you so much for a great evening, I had my 30th birthday meal here last night, and there was 23 people on our table. They managed to get all our food out together and it was hot (always a winner) the waiter that was serving us was brilliant I'm gutted I can't mention his name on here, although I'm sure he will see this and know its him. So thank you for a brilliant evening.

Food is okay, fairly priced, Christmas menu is great, I really enjoyed dessert, however waiting times are bit long. Around 30-40 mins for a starter, another 30-40 for main.

Very understaffed, the food was slow to come out and the quality varied quite a bit. Somehow three of the same dish ordered had different items.

Had a lovely breakfast here . There was lots of choice from a cooked breakfast to cereals and fruit. The staff were very helpful and accommodating as although they didn't have a table large enough for our booking they put us all on tables next to each other so it still felt like we were sharing breakfast together. Great value and great service

This restaurant is the catering arm of the Premier Inn. The Inn was doubled in size about a year ago so it is busy with travellers. At peak periods expect a wait of about half an hour or so for your food order. Staff are somewhat over stretched although trying hard. It is good idea to book in advance. If not you may wait to be seated. The car park is a good size and well lit. High chairs are available for small children. The bar area is spoilt by gaming machines blocking the view to the serving area. The food is good for the money.

We booked a table for a meal on Valentine's day. On arrival we were greeted promptly and as it was very quiet (only a handful of diners) we could choose the table. We received very good service from our waiter. Food arrived within 15 min of ordering. Like with any food it's down to personal preference and taste so here's our opinion on our dishes... My partner had a beef shin which he didn't actually enjoy much. The meat was tender, he just didn't like the sauce. We both agreed it reminded us of the tinned meat meals we took camping when we were younger. The veg is described as "maple roast carrots and roast mushrooms" but they tasted and looked like they were steamed or boiled. I had a duck, which was really, tender, moist and tasty. I didn't use the gravy served as I didn't like it (a bit bland for my liking). The dish was moist enough so I didn't miss it. I would prefer the duck to have crispy skin but I understand it's a bit of a challenge when slow cooking it. Both our desserts, sticky toffee and apple pie were exceptional.

Small country pub, in a lovely village setting. Booked a table online, service was quick and efficient on a Sunday early evening. Roast dinner has plenty of beef but the vegetables looked like they had been left under a heat lamp for an hour. Also gravy looked like it wasn’t meant for a beef dish. Ended meal with nice dessert. Good local Badger beer served.

The room was very cosy and quirky. The location was good as it was right near the precinct with many eateries. The service was amazing, Vicky is lovely! However, the lock on our door was hard to lock, and the shower was poor. We also lacked a few key items such as bowls, and we would've liked that as there was no breakfast. In conclusion, very good with small improvements required to make it perfect😁

Unfortunate experience Stayed for two nights in a room directly above the main bar, there is zero soundproofing and the room is completely filled with any music played below as well as talking. You won't be able to sleep easily at the weekend if you are placed in this room. Room generally nice but don't expect a quiet place to retreat to if you are unlucky enough to get this room. Had further issues with the shower not draining and overfilling within a few minutes. I tried to raise my concerns to the manager who wasn't actually present during my visit only to be ignored for over month after my trip.

We popped in on the off chance of a place being available. We were offered a bar table. The gent who advised us (wearing a Hawaiian style top) was polite, professional and an asset to the company. We had to do self-service and order at the bar. The young bar man that served us was polite, professional and funny and made us feel welcomed. The food was good as! usual. Whilst eating our food we could hear the 'front of house' man doing his thing with waiting customers. His bedside manor is excellent and made all feel valued and important.

We came to eat as a rather large group ( 24) For our annual slimming world Christmas lunch. The staff were amazing. The gentleman who orginal took our booking was very helpful and happily added a couple more people on. The lady who took our order and served our food was brilliant even with people changing their mind from the two course to the three course lunch!! And then smiling even when another two people wanted to order starters! We had a really fantastic meal. All food served at the same time. Not too long await at the carvery. Vegetarian food was well received, and the desserts looked pretty yummy! Great atmosphere and a lovely time was had by us all. I was volunteered to book the meal this year but with the fantastic organisation of the restaurant staff I feel happy to take on the role next year. That said, i will be in before then,as a family we love to eat at the toby Northbourne 😋

A mix-up over table size( my mistake) on a very busy night, was quickly and very politely dealt with by the manager, and our server, Martin was very friendly. Queues for food were very long and food only just warm. The meats were well_cooked but vegetables were uninspiring, either very hard or claggy. It was a Christmas outing, so probably queues may not usually be that long.

This is nowhere near as good as the Cooper Dean one. We walked up to the bar, and the manager saw us but walked away. When I said aloud that we are being ignored, someone else came to help us. We were then told that the manager was actually the one who needed to help us. We had to stand & wait till he came back to assist us. There is a sign stating to check in at the bar. We did that. We were told to wait at the other counter. We've never had a good experience yet. It's always been an issue. One waiter had to serve the whole restaurant, he was very good, but we had to wait a while to pay. We would definitely rather go to Cooper Dean. The only issue we had there was not knowing we had to register our vehicle & received a fine. I contested & didn't have to pay in the end. They now have a sign at the entrance to warn you, so no one should get caught out now.

Families can unwind while children enjoy the dedicated play area, making it perfect for leisurely afternoons.
Family meal for mothers day. Grandchildren enjoyed macaroni cheese and ice-cream. Adults all had the roast beef. The roast potatoes veg Yorkshire pud etc were all very tasty. We also had a sharing platter with pigs in blankets, extra roast pots & cauli cheese. Beef a little tough & stringy in places. Probably just the joint we had as I understand they can vary. Excellent service from the lovely Grace . Meals were served quickly and we're nice and hot. Nice atmosphere and comfortable seating. We live in Poole but haven't been to the Yatchsman in years due to past bad experiences but things have certainly changed and we will be back.

The Yachtsman is a warm and inviting spot, perfect for a relaxed pint and good conversation. The interior blends classic pub charm with a touch of nautical character — wooden beams, soft lighting from vintage-style lamps, and maritime details create a cosy, welcoming feel. The seating is a mix of sturdy wooden tables, comfortable leather armchairs, and higher bar stools, offering plenty of choice depending on your mood. Large windows bring in natural light, and the gentle hum of friendly chatter adds to the laid-back atmosphere. It’s the sort of place where you instantly feel at ease, whether you’re catching up with friends or simply soaking in the ambience with a drink in hand.

We had a really nice meal at the Yachtsman this evening. We ordered roast dinners, and the food was very tasty and there was lots of it. Good value for money. There was live music happening which was a great addition. The two staff members that served us were very friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Really enjoyed this place, looking forward to going back.

We found the dining room very cold compared to the pub. We actually ate with our coats on. The food was good but not big portions, I could have eaten more. Great service & dog friendly. It's a nice place & plenty of parking.

Visited when on holiday at Rockley Park Wife had the steak and ale pie and said it was delicious, I had the chilli. Again, delicious and the beef was so tender. If you are visiting Poole and staying at Rockley then worth a visit. Added bonus of having a fast car charger on site.

Isabel's Brasserie offers delectable Sunday lunches featuring a changing menu that showcases the finest regional and seasonal produce. From traditional roast beef to roasted lamb rump, roast chicken, and fillet of cod with a herb crust, there is an array of options to savor. The restaurant has received high praise from diners for its exceptional food, service, and ambiance. The varied yet uncluttered menu caters to every palate while maintaining reasonable prices for the level of cuisine offered.
A beautiful restaurant in a popular location for an evening out. The staff were incredibly welcoming and the service for the entire experience was faultless. The food is of high quality, excellent in taste, presentation and perfect in texture. Every course was delicious, building upon the last. The restaurant itself is pleasant. The booths are quite cosy and upright but everything else was perfect.

Myself and two friends visited for their cocktail masterclass and 2-course lunch and it was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The food is out of this world, presented beautifully and tastes delicious. The cocktail making was by far better than others I’d done in the past as you are able to make all the cocktails yourself with the guidance of an excellent bartender (we loved his sense of humour!) The service is also excellent, we were still laughing and drinking 5 hours later! Honestly the best girls afternoon, we will be back for another event soon I’m sure. I should also mention I’ve had dinner here a few times and it’s always been top quality!

What an exceptional restaurant! We came down from London for the weekend and some dorset foodies recommended we came to Isabel's. My father said it was amongst the best meals he had had in years (and we eat out a lot), and generally from the service, to the drinks, to the food...all was exquiste. I tip my hat to you all and wish you the very best. If you are looking for the best restaurant in bournemouth or poole, you can not go wrong with Isabel's Brasserie. Exceptional all round. Thank you!

⸻ We had a fantastic lunch at Isabel’s Brasserie. The food was absolutely delicious, with a great choice of fresh and nutritious dishes that were beautifully cooked and presented. The service was excellent – friendly, attentive, and welcoming – and the whole place has a lovely ambiance that makes you feel instantly relaxed. We went on a Sunday and were treated to a marvellous live performance from a wonderful singer, whose voice and song choices created the perfect backdrop to our meal. It really added something special to the experience. Overall, a truly delightful lunch – highly recommended, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit!

If you're looking for a charming spot to celebrate Valentine's Day, look no further than The Britannia. This delightful brasserie pub in Parkstone offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it an ideal choice for a romantic evening with your special someone. With expertly crafted dishes on their special set menu, it's the perfect place to indulge in culinary delights. The Britannia is not just about romance; it’s also dog-friendly!
It was a wonderful meal. The Britannia has a wonderful menu, attentive staff, a well staffed kitchen and capable chefs. The whole turn around from arriving to leaving was about an hour and a half, and the place was busy. We didn’t really wait. The wine, the Pecorino, was delicious. I had a single overcooked potato on my main, which was compensated for by an exceptionally fluffy bowl of chips, delivered by the chef (I think) which was a nice touch. The rest of the meal, the Guinea Fowl en Croute starter, and Valentine’s Lamb shoulder main, were faultless. My wife enjoyed her Chicken Liver Parfait starter and Chicken Supreme main, regarding it as an excellent meal. We declined dessert as we were both full, with the exception of three champagne chocolate truffles, which we shared, and a small glass of dessert wine to finish. Allergies were asked about, we were child free for the evening, but it is child friendly. It is wheelchair accessible. Thank you for the lovely meal & experience. Regards from The Barking Cat Alehouse. Michael & Lauren

Went there with a bunch of friends and family. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. The staff is very courteous and radiate positivity. Do try the pistachio soufflé and the stick toffee pudding for desert. The best part is they update the menu every quarter to include seasonal fruits and vegetables. Do visit if you’re in and around Bournemouth.

We had a truly unforgettable evening at the Britannia last night for a special birthday celebration with family and friends. The team went above and beyond to make it a perfect experience from start to finish. We had a whole outdoor section to ourselves, which was beautifully set up and created a fantastic atmosphere. The ambience was warm, peaceful and ideal for a gathering. The food was incredible. Every dish was fresh, flavoursome and beautifully presented. You could really tell the kitchen takes pride in what they do. The service was equally impressive. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome throughout the night. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate a big birthday. Highly recommend, 100%!

We had a brilliant evening at The Britannia in Ashley Cross easily one of the best spots in Poole for a relaxed yet vibrant night out. The atmosphere was buzzing, the food was spot-on, and the drinks flowed perfectly all evening. A special shoutout has to go to Alisha, our waitress on Friday night, who was absolutely outstanding. Friendly, professional, and effortlessly attentive, she made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble, and she struck that perfect balance of being efficient while still adding a personal touch, a real credit to the team. It’s rare to find service that truly elevates your whole experience, but Alisha did exactly that. We’ll definitely be back soon.

We enjoyed our meal here. The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. We came on Thursday night which is half price burger night. I am very glad we did as the burgers cost over £16, that isn't a type, yes really over £16 per burger!!! I was very very surprised at how expensive it was. If it wasn't half price burger night we would have definitely of walked out and gone to the local Wetherspoons just down the road. The burgers were very tasty but definitely not £16+ worth of burger. You didn't even get side salad for that price! Cocktails were good however the prices didn't get any better here. Just shy of £10 per cocktail, nearly fell off of my chair and I was the sober one!! I asked for sauce with my meal, sadly this was all chargeable and you couldn't even get BBQ sauce or ketchup without being stung by more charges. I had to say no to the sauce because I just couldn't bring myself to spending even more money that I was. I could feel the money dripping out of my pockets by this point. If the prices were right then we'd be here more often however the crazily high prices are holding this place back. If you look at other reviews other people are also talking about the prices and how shockingly high they are. Don't come here if you are looking for a normally priced or even slightly higher priced meal as everything on the menu is very high.
Jacques S — Google review
Nice place, friendly staff. The burger though... looked great but i couldn't tell you what it was like because there was so much bread! About a 90-10 ratio bread to burger, same with my wife's chicken burger, use a thinner, brioche or Portuguese bun and it would be so much better! Duck wings had virtually no meat on them either, unfortunately they didn't even touch the side. Also, we were offered chips or sweet potato fries with the burgers, my wife had sweet potato fries but they never mentioned this was an extra charge and added it onto the bill, please make customers aware of that, it's so annoying when places do this! I had the lemonade cocktail, supposed to have gin in it but it just tasted like a Smirnoff ice, the wife had a blackberry one though that was much nicer. Overall, a nice place with great staff but the food needs a bit of tweaking before I can recommend to anyone.

Slightly more expensive than a few of its Wimborne counterparts, but definitely worth it - the food, service and atmosphere are all great. I came a little earlier on the weekend and had the vegetarian breakfast and was pleasantly surprised with the good quality of food (and amount).

Pub
The Kings Head is a historic 16th-century pub located in Poole, offering a vibrant atmosphere and a warm welcome to all, including furry friends. Situated on the lively high street near Poole Quay, this family-run establishment is known for its great value pub food and drinks, featuring award-winning Badger Beer. The pub hosts live music and quiz nights and boasts a dog-friendly environment with an outdoor garden.
Love the King’s Head. It is a beautiful, traditional English pub in every way. It's authenticity is obvious when you go, with old wooden panelling, Victorian lighting, and parts of the real ancient building still visible. It’s full of character but also really cosy and welcoming. The best thing about this place is the people who run it. Friendly, funny, and always happy to chat. You feel welcome from the moment you walk in. On Sundays, they serve a proper homemade roast just roasts, nothing else... and it’s lush. You can choose from three meats, or have the special for a small extra cost. The portions are generous, the meat is well-cooked, and there’s loads of tasty veg on the plate. It’s very good value for money, especially for fresh, home-style cooking. The pub is also known for being haunted, with several ghost stories shared by the landlord if you ask. There’s even a little ghost dog! It all adds to the unique experience. Outside, there’s a beer garden where you can sit in the sun and enjoy a drink. The whole place has a relaxed, local feel and it’s a lovely spot to visit whether you're just in Poole for the day or live nearby. Highly recommended if you’re looking for real English food and atmosphere in a friendly, historic setting. Recommend you book. It's popular with everyone.

The pub had plenty of room when we first arrived, by the time we left it was very busy. They have a furry friends menu as well as 1 for us. The wine list has suggestions by each wine to compliment the meals being served. There is a pool table and a beer garden. You can also buy a hot drink, they sell amongst other s, badger beer. They offer free venue hire when ordering the buffet. There is no parking on site and no specific accessibility toilet, 2 small steps and 2 doors to get through to the toilet. They have the use of ramps to get to the beer garden if required. There were people of all agesin the pub.

Lovely pub. Nicely decorated, comfy seats, very nice clean toilet and great food. We had kids chicken nuggets, adult ham egg and chips and a steak and kidney pie. Great portion sizes. Lots of veg with the pie, 3 types and the pie had lots of kidney in. I also had a latte which was very nice, my hubby had a flat white which for him was too milky. Really nice staff too. Well priced.

Service from Kerry was great and helped pick something off the food menu. The chicken burger was A-MAZING. The garden is a great space for relaxing in the sunshine with a cold drink and one of the owners and the locals were friendly and easy to chat to. The venue was very clean and Kerry was attentive to all the customers.

Went in on spec for Sunday lunch with the only offering being Sunday roast. We went for the pork option. The meat and roast were ok but the vegetables were overcooked and tasteless. In addition the crumble dessert was cold. We made our concerns known and to be fair we were offered replacements which were hot enough.

Our second visit to this amazing restaurant and where do I start with the feedback?. The food & wine (and cocktails) were obviously outstanding as always. The wonderful family team of Alex, Frances, Hem and Elisabeth plus the new fab addition of Gee made us feel so welcome and relaxed. I honestly don't have anything apart from 'simply perfect' from start to finish to say about Thirteen. If you haven't been yet then make sure you book as this is a culinary experience not to be missed!. Thank you Thirteen for a fantastic night - we will be back!

From the outside, the location and entrance are modest and unassuming. But once inside, you are warmly greeted by the father, who introduces you to his daughter, son, and the rest of the team. Even as the restaurant fills up, you feel as though their sole focus is on you. This is far more than simply having food placed in front of you — each dish comes with a story. The chef personally delivers the plates, explaining the inspiration behind each creation. Presentation is impeccable, with every course served on a beautifully unique plate. While every dish we tried deserved five stars, three standouts must be mentioned. I’m not usually a fan of anchovies, but the lamb with anchovy was nothing short of extraordinary. The beef with chanterelle mushrooms will stay in my memory forever. And the blackberry and nectarine dessert stopped me in my tracks with its incredible freshness and depth of flavour — so much so that I had to shake the chef’s hand. We left the restaurant walking home talking about the food, the service, and the unforgettable experience. Thank you.

This was posted by our son, Alex on Facebook. Suffice to say Thirteen more than delivered. Mum and dad concur. “This was absolutely extraordinary. This is Thirteen, a relatively new restaurant that's open near us and is PHENOMENAL in every way. My parents and I checked this out yesterday night to celebrate my 23rd birthday, and were absolutely blown away by it. I couldn't possibly have asked for a better birthday dinner. The whole experience was flawless from the incredible welcome on entry, to the service throughout, to the birthday card I received just before the dessert, signed by the whole team. That latter one especially blew me away - it was truly above and beyond, and deserves a special "thank you". Head chef Alex, along with his parents Elizabeth and Hem are absolute gems, and their passion was wonderful to see. But that goes for all the chefs, who took it in turns to introduce some of the courses, who I didn't quite catch the names of. It's rare you see such passion these days. And this doesn't even cover the immaculate, even spellbinding, 13 course degustation menu. To be honest I'm really struggling to name a favourite course, as they were all out of this world levels of brilliant, but I think the "herbs, cabbage", "mushroom, mushroom", and "brill, lardo" come out on top, roughly in that order as top. This was an absolutely brilliant experience that is fully deserving of a 5/5 rating on any review platform, and one that I really hope gets a Michelin Star soon - it could compete with (and probably exceed) any restaurant that already holds one any day. Absolutely tremendous, and I cannot wait to return.”

The Pickled Berry, situated on Poole's High Street, is a convenient spot for a family meal after a day of activities in the area. The restaurant offers healthy dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. Visitors have praised the generous portion sizes and fresh, tasty sandwiches served during lunch. The relaxed atmosphere and beautiful decor make it an ideal place for a leisurely meal. Guests have particularly enjoyed the chicken Caesar croquettes as starters and delicious roast options for mains.
Definitely the best roast I've had at a restaurant. The meat was excellently cooked and everything was flavourful, particularly the gravy. The stuffing was lovely as were the Yorkshire puddings. The carrots and parsnips were slightly firm and the potatoes had harder outsides than I would like, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the roast and would recommend it. The starters were lovely, the scallops were cooked excellently and the garlic butter was tasty. Prices were reasonable given the quality and portion sizes. Service was friendly. A couple of improvements could be made- we waited a while for our mains, and one of our party was initially left without carrots, parsnips and stuffing on his plate (not sure what happened there), however they promptly rectified that once we let them know. The interior decoration and presentation was nice. I will definitely come here again.

What a great little find! We had a fantastic Sunday lunch at The Pickled Berry in Poole and couldn’t have been more impressed. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavour – a real treat. Kirsty, the owner, was absolutely lovely and made us feel so welcome. She was warm, attentive, and clearly passionate about what she does, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The highlight? Without a doubt, the crème brûlée – genuinely out of this world! Perfectly crisp on top and smooth, creamy indulgence underneath. One of the best I’ve ever had. We’re already looking forward to returning. Highly recommend for anyone in the area looking for a cosy spot with top-notch food and service.

Nestled in a casual resort setting, Knoll House Hotel offers modest rooms with sea views, an outdoor pool, and a golf course. The hotel's restaurant serves freshly prepared dishes for breakfast, light lunches, afternoon teas, and traditional dinners. Families can enjoy the fantastic outdoor play area and take leisurely strolls on the nearby beach. The hotel's classically decorated rooms cater to families, with children under 16 staying for free.
Wonderful visit. Dated but utterly charming. Super service. Comfortable beds. Delicious breakfast with double tablecloths on each table! Pool was enormous and much appreciated as weather was hot! Lovely walks on the beach and couldn’t have been nicer. Will definitely return.

I paid extra for a sea view room but did not get one until I raised it at reception. To their credit, the receptionist was apologetic and moved us. Check in lacked information, and both rooms were very outdated. Both kettles had heavy limescale, the second room’s TV did not work, and everything was dusty. The bed was comfortable, but the rooms look like they have not been updated in decades. Breakfast was good with lots of choice and excellent coffee. However, while we were eating, two members of staff stood right next to us talking about a colleague’s trousers being around their ankles. It was unprofessional and not the sort of conversation guests should be hearing. The games room was fun, and the playground pirate ship was a hit with my child. The location is also great. The indoor pool had algae, cloudy water, dirty changing rooms, and no staff present when we visited. Overall, the hotel has potential thanks to its location and some good facilities, but it urgently needs refurbishment, better maintenance, and improved professionalism from staff to justify the price.
Rhys G — Google review
Was bought an afternoon tea for two, certainly took me back in time! Proper service from friendly well trained staff. The hotel is in a great position near the sea with lots of amenities, but be prepared to be sent back to the 50’s, 60’s. Not necessarily a bad thing but the decor and the layout, is like going back to the Hi De Hi days, which gives it a certain charm. The only thing I would mark it down on was the barman trying to pour a pint of lager. Everyone doesn’t like at least 1” of froth on top, if they did the pint glass would be marked further down to allow for extra froth. I’ve been drinking since before the barman was born and I do know what a proper pint looks like, but overall a good experience.

My Husband & I stayed for 1 night, - a beautiful hotel in the perfect location! A dated hotel (this adds to its charm ) although it could do with a repaint on the outside. The hotel was clean, staff welcoming & friendly , Facilities - outdoor swimming pool - was lovely (due to time of year it was quiet which was welcome) , Golf course was great , and there are tennis courts which we ran out of time to use. Breakfast - just what we needed - the food was good, with lots of choice. Location - couldn't be more perfect - close to beaches, lots of walks and also easy access to swanage, and surrounding areas. Would definitely recommend & will return in the future.

Wow, this is a proper Cream Team. Spitfires flying overhead and views of The Needles. The scones are fresh and ‘lashings’ of proper double clotted cream. Wow there goes another Spitfire. But it could be stupendous if the garden was clean, the warm scones arrived with the means to eat them warm. If there was some hot water to de-stew the tea. Loads of milk to cool it all down with. It could so easily be 100%. I did not stay in the hotel.

Great location with incredible views. Excellent staff, very attentive and gracious. Some might say the Hotel is a little dated but it adds to it and has a 1930s 40s feel to it. Gardens and patio overlooking Studland Bay stunning. Will go again.

We had a fantastic stay at Knoll House. The location is absolutely stunning and makes for a truly memorable stay. The views over the coastline are incredible and we had some fantastic walks along the beach. The hotel is charming and, whilst dated in places, offers a warm and friendly setting in which to relax and unwind. We hope to return again and hope that if the hotel is developed, it is done so sympathetically and inkeeping with its heritage and the area.

Do Not Stay Here. We booked rooms here last minute in July, had the "pleasure" of staying in 2 different family rooms, hands down the worst rooms we have every stayed in, anywhere. Room 1 - Filthy Balcony, Sand, Mouldy Pigeon Poo and Cobwebs. Beds uncomfortable. Room 2 - Bath Panel falling off, electrics not safe, filthy windows which I cleaned myself. Sea View Room was a view across a flat roof. Communal Areas mostly shabby. And for nearly £300 per night complete rip off. Raised concerns with staff, they didn't want to know. Read my reviews of previous places I've visited, I am not a moaner, this place is terrible and should be shut down for a refurb owners clearly have no money to reinvest, despite it appearing very busy and bizarrely other guests seemed to enjoy it. Safe to say it ruined the start of our holiday.

Pub
Nestled in the heart of Poole, The Bricklayers is a historic pub that has been charming patrons since 1833. With its striking double facade recognized as a Local Heritage Asset, this venue underwent a thoughtful refurbishment in 2019, blending modern aesthetics with Victorian charm thanks to local designers and artists. In addition to its inviting atmosphere, The Bricklayers hosts regular live music nights—a delightful nod to the community spirit following the closure of nearby Mr Kyps.
Nice atmosphere. Delicious burgers. Lovely garden. Really enjoyed it
Krasimira V — Google review
I have been coming here for many years, and it is one of my favourite pubs for its selection of good ales and its traditional yet modern ambience. BUT I hate it when it has live music at weekends because the place becomes packed out with a very young clientele, conversation is impossible, and generally, the bands are not the greatest. Possibly this says more about me than the venue but if you like to have a couple of beers and a natter with friends then you should choose your nights very carefully!

Visited for Sunday lunch on a lovely sunny afternoon. I had the fantastic fish and chips. Some sort of Thatchers cider on draught I think, which was OK although I’m not a huge fan of the brand. Nice decor inside with a terrace overlooking the church graveyard at the front and a courtyard garden out the back. A tranquil setting which I enjoyed immensely.

Waiter was very sound, just the right amount of chattiness. Food was very good, and the pints. Will definitely come again.

Visited on a Sunday morning for breakfast. Ordered the "Bricklayers Brekkie" and "The Breakfast Wrap" Service was friendly and attentive and the decor throughout is lovely, and it was nice and clean. Hash Browns were really crispy and delicious and the fried eggs were cooked well. Only constructive feedback was the wrap could have done with having the bacon rind removed, some cheese and a little less brown sauce at the ends. Will keep an eye out for their future live music events.

This place is a little gem . The decor is not what you expect when you walk in . It's opulent and exquisite. The food was exceptionally prepared , piping hot and utterly delicious. Staff were friendly and polite Definitely give it a visit if you're in the area Parking limited

The plan was to have dinner here with friends. Never been here before and it was super crowded, the only seats available on saturday night were outside, wooden benches, one heater in the center of the whole garden. We sat quite far from the heating as all seats were taken close to it, decided not to have any food as it was too cold. Shame. Definitely will be back to try that clay oven charcoal pizzas. We've had really nice malbec and yeah willing to go back when it's not so busy so we can sit inside and have a nice meal.

Cool place to enjoy beer, really good beer. Welcoming vibes in the midst of Ashley Cross and its hum of music and fun. Planning a return already. Didn't eat this time, but could see others enjoying good food.

Great bar, nice atmosphere and good selection of beers. Some of the staff are very unfriendly and act ‘too cool for school’. Otherwise decent place.

Nestled in the heart of Ashley Cross, the Bermuda Triangle is a vibrant pub that caters to all, including our four-legged friends. With its lively downstairs bar offering an impressive array of ales and regular live music, it’s a hotspot for socializing. The hidden upstairs bar, accessed through a whimsical bookcase door, invites you into cozy seating areas where you can enjoy DJ sessions and creative cocktails.
Great place for a drink. It's been one of the most popular Cross pubs for years. Always has a buzz and good music playing. Went on Thursday for 241 burgers. They were delicious so went back for breakfast today. Food here is really good. Coffee is particularly good. Staff are absolutely lovely and very funny. Nightmare to park, so try and walk there if you're nearby. Dog friendly. Outdoor tables and a roof terrace.

4 young ladies who all support this place and we’re in there last night decided to sit on a bench after meeting up for coffee early this morning. Place is completely empty it’s early Sunday morning so they sit on a bench outside near the road to chat. No harm to no one. Congratulations to the big man who comes out and instead of choosing to be polite to young ladies simply says jog on… Rude, unnecessary and what a complete ⚓️

Nestled in the historic old Railway Hotel, The Goods Yard is a charming bar that exudes a retro vibe with its dark wood and leather decor. This inviting spot is perfect for those looking to unwind in a relaxed atmosphere while enjoying hearty pub fare. Located near the renowned Castlemans Trail, it boasts an impressive selection of local ales, beers, and ciders alongside elevated takes on classic pub dishes.
Honestly one of the best roast dinners I've had! The amount of perfectly cooked meat on the plate blew me away.....I had the trio of meats, accompanied by perfectly cooked vegetables and cauliflower cheese. The staff were friendly and very helpful and the place has a calm atmosphere. Plenty of outside seating and situated on a quiet rd. Definitely be visiting again soon.
Gary M — Google review
Worst dessert I've had in my life. Came in with my partner for some food. The calamari was quite good though the portion was lacking for the price- I think I payed around £7 for around 6 breaded pieces and a pile of rocket on the side (no watercress as advertised but that's not a big deal for me) Partner ordered the jerk wings but got given battered tenders with jerk sauce and was told that it was his order (tenders are a separate option on the menu but it looks like they ran out of wings). Not ideal since my other half doesn't like heavily battered food. The roast was alright though I just tried a little bit. Veg was nicely seasoned but cauliflower cheese was lacking. Now onto the dessert- I was quite excited for the £7.50 roasted pineapple with vegan coconut mousse but I am not overexaggerating when I say this was the worst dessert I have had. The two roasted tinned pineapple rings were mediocre at best but the true atrocity was the tasteless, weirdly sour (?) coconut gloop on top. The passionfruit pulp couldn't save it and I left the mousse on the plate. My cocktail was delicious- the lychee-politan, though £10, it was a treat. Guinness was meh. Service however, was fab! Lovely guy and girl served us in the late evening of November 10th. Overall, I'd say the food here is disappointing and overpriced and would save my money for elsewhere in the future.

For lunch today I took Richard Howard to The Goods Yard in Blandford. Chris greeted us with a warm welcome from behind the bar . Richard ordered the fish and fries , mushy peas , tartare sauce and I ordered the burger and fries. Hallie was the front of house member of staff who took care of us . There was a slight error with my burger as I had ordered a plain bun and it arrived with lettuce. I informed Hallie and the issue was quickly solved without any fuss . When I ordered my burger I had asked for an extra burger Patti in the bun which they did . The food arrived and I was greeted with a massive burger which was seasoned to perfection and was juicy and delicious. Richard's fish was delicious he said . Great food , great value for money , awesome burger * warm and welcoming staff . Well worth a visit and I'm looking forward to visiting the goods yard again very soon .

Chilled, relaxed atmosphere. The decor is in period from the history of the establishment. Plenty of pub games, nice beers and ales for sale as well as tea coffee etc.. The food menu is ample, not too much, just enough to get a consistent high quality of fresh food.

A decent pub in Broadstone. Wasn’t very busy when I went due to COVID rules. Definitely a pub for the older generations and not teens. It’s the local in Broadstone for adults and it provides a good atmosphere for that. Food was very nice however having the burger, there should’ve been some sauce in the burger!! However was tasty. Added extras for the burger are also priced very high at £1 per extra! However I treated myself! Table was also very sticky but didn’t really bother me!!! Thanks for my meal 😀

Best vegetarian roast dinner I have had in a long time. Everything was beautifully cooked. Lovely nut roast and proper Yorkshire puddings; not full of baking powder. Apparently lamb cooked very nicely too. Thank you so much chef and charming staff.
Julia V — Google review
Very relaxed atmosphere, interior with character. Dogs friendly. My go to for meet up with friends and a cheeky pint.
Caroline — Google review
This pub is a great place to eat, the service is really good and the food is great. The atmosphere is warm and cozy with shabby sheek decor that plays on the fact that it used to be an integral part of the old railway station. It's all done to a nice taste. There is free parking available and an outdoor seating area for when it's sunny.

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Poole Old Town, The Angel is a historic gem that has been serving patrons since 1761. This Grade II listed pub seamlessly marries its storied past with contemporary amenities like WiFi and Sky TV, making it a perfect spot for both locals and visitors. Known for its award-winning ales, including the exclusive Ringwood Ale, The Angel also boasts an impressive selection of fine wines and spirits.
First time I have been here and wish I had come here ages ago. Jo the landlady cirtainly knows how to run a pub, I have drank in many pubs in the Poole area but I have to say how well the the beer is kept. Perfect temperature, clean beer lines, and basically the best pint in town, Trust me, they also have a good selection of wines and spirits. Now the inside of the pub is spacious and comfortable, it's very clean and tidy in fact spotless. Out side they have a seating area in the front, but have a lovely beer garden out the back. The pub is also Dog friendly. I have posted some pictures so please take time to view. At the end of the day I would highly recommend The Angel Poole. 100%.

Friday night, very busy but the service was great, friendly and quick. I didn't try the food but it certainly looked nice.
Janice N — Google review
⭐ One Star I’m new to the area and visited The Angel hoping to enjoy a friendly local pub and meet new people. I was polite and respectful, even asking if it was okay to speak with others before starting a conversation. Unfortunately, the landlady, Jay or J0, abruptly asked me to leave, claiming I was too drunk to be in the pub—despite the fact that I was completely sober. I felt unfairly judged and spoken to in a way that was unnecessary and dismissive. It was an uncomfortable experience, especially as someone just trying to settle in and be social in a new town. I hope future guests are treated with more understanding and respect.

I had seen the sign in the high street many times, finally decided to investigate. Chilled pub, very comfortable and clean, with a nice outside seating area. Staff friendly and welcoming. Good selection of beers. I will definitely be back.

Food was basic and cold, explained my son was non verbal autistic only eats chips and fruit, none of which they could provide, considering it was a private function, you think they then would allow it when I walk to Asda get some chips from their cafeteria and some fruit, only to be refuse my son to eat them. Shame on them

Only visited briefly on a night notice too busy but enjoyed my time there. Pleasent staff and nice atmosphere. Well worth a visit
Tom P — Google review
I'm not a local but this seemed like a great pub. It's attractive from the outside as well as inside. There was a wide selection of branded beers and ciders at fair prices. There was also an artisan pizza menu, though I can't advise because I didn't eat. If I visit Poole again, this will be where I go for a pint.
