Guests can also visit the Wine Studio to enjoy three different-sized pours from the 28-bottle Cruvinet while listening to live piano music.
Absolutely loved our experience! The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the classy and elegant atmosphere that truly feels like a sophisticated library, museum or upscale cafe. The furniture and views added to the relaxing vibe, making it a perfect spot to unwind. The service was attentive and friendly. We made a reservation and enjoyed the full breakfast buffet…delicious and filling. Parking was convenient, with free parking at E. Plume St. Parking Garage for up to 2 hours, plus valet options. We can’t wait to return and try their dinner menu.

The food was amazing!!! Customer service was amazing as well. We had Ashley as our server and she was so kind and helpful. Atmosphere is very nice and perfect for any occasion!

KAYLEE was an absolute star! Truly amazing! Her aura was what was needed & I’ve been here plenty of times never had I had a sever who engaged with me and just truly loved being helpful!!! The atmosphere phenomenal the food- mouth watering! Come here and ask for my girl!!

Absolutely beautiful restaurant inside the Hilton on the second floor. The appetizers Artichoke and Foam ricotta with honey glaze was excellent. Our main entree of garlic, evoo her pasta was nice and house made tagliatelle with pecorino was nice but not amazing. The margarita pizza was average and little cold. The waitress forgot to charge us for the bottle of wine so added it on. She should have gone over the dessert menu but seemed a little rushed. Overall the setting and so superb and price is reasonable that should give it a try

Jordan was an amazing server— the bomb dot com! The food was delicious, the service even better. We wanted to go to the wine dinner but missed out on buying tickets and they even gave us a course to try on the house! Love this place!
Kaitlyn M — Google review
My wife and I had a wonderful experience. We started out with the Artichoke Romano appetizer, which was delicious and full of flavor. For entrées, we ordered the steak and chicken parm—both were cooked perfectly and absolutely hit the spot. The ambiance of the restaurant was warm and inviting, creating a perfect setting for a relaxed evening out. A special shoutout to our server, Evan, who was fantastic—attentive, friendly, and on top of every detail throughout the night. Highly recommend!

came in on a spur of the moment date night! we had kaylee and she was AMAZING. very knowledgeable and very accommodating. great vibes and atmosphere. food was 10/10 will be back!
Tyler P — Google review
My wife and I ate here for our anniversary. We had excellent customer service from our server Kaylee. Not only was she was familiar with the menu and wine selections, but she was also very thoughtful and attentive. My wife had the chicken marsala and I had the Branzino with vegetables which was the special for the night. We thought our respective dinners were great! However, we forgot to take photos of our food (except the bread and wine). We skipped dessert (Kaylee brought out a whipped cream & a few cherries to say “congrats” since we didn’t want dessert which was very mindful of her), but my wife did order a latte that she said was made perfectly! To top it off, Better By Tuesday jazz trio were the musicians for the night, and they played everything from a few songs out of the Great American Songbook, to traditional R&B classics with some Neo-Soul mixed in for good measure. I highly recommend this restaurant. My wife and I will be back and we will request Kaylee next time as well. You should definitely give this restaurant a try.

Grain is a rooftop beer garden located on the fifth floor of Varia, an Italian-style trattoria. Guests can also enjoy a photo booth for capturing memorable moments. The venue provides a relaxed atmosphere to savor drinks and take in the scenic surroundings.
The Harbor Festival just ended and Nathaniel did his best to see our table was taken care of. I love his energy and although it was tough at first, he still remained professional, caring, and efficient. The food was phenomenal! It's just loud inside but worth the visit. Nathaniel and his coworkers were a team we all enjoyed

I was on a first date and I must say location is everything atmosphere really sets the tone for how your date is gonna go. My date and I walked in and we were in awe of our surroundings there were lights on trees inside the building. There was a large opening to the top balcony, showing off the beautiful view to the water. There were leather couches that you can sit in and eat, which made it cozy. The staff was helpful and very upbeat. Our waiter was very attentive to our needs always checking in and making sure that we were doing well. Please note although they’re open till midnight their dinner menu ends at 10 then it moves onto late night menu. This is a seat yourself restaurant so when you come in pick a spot, we didn’t know that for sure we thought maybe we would be seated we went straight to the bar and asked bartender was very helpful in telling us about the menu ending and where we could sit. The food was pretty good. The portions aren’t very large so if you’re the type of person that eats like you’re filling up a hollow leg, I would order a little extra to satisfy your hunger. The rooftop view is a vibe of its own. You have open access to it. I will enclose the pictures that I took of my experience. I hope that this was helpful and hope you enjoy your visit there as well. Another thing I forgot to mention is that on the left-hand side just before you walk into the restaurant, there’s a little nook library and a place where you can play pool and shuffleboard. It has the atmosphere of a speakeasy. We played shuffleboard a couple rounds. It was really neat

Great Atmosphere & Service! We had a really nice experience at Grain Restaurant. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff were super attentive and friendly throughout the night. One of the highlights is definitely the rooftop seating – it adds so much charm and enjoyment to the whole experience. Loved the views and the vibe up there! The valet parking was also a big plus, making everything much easier from the start. The food was delicious, and we truly enjoyed every bite. We’ll definitely be coming back again soon. Highly recommended!
Rifat T — Google review
Went for lunch, very busy! Everything tasted good except for the loaded smashed potato, if you’re not a beer cheese fan, you won’t like it. Also, our appetizers came out and the meals 2 minutes later. I absolutely hate when restaurants do this, seems like they’re rushing you. Appetizers should come around the same time as the drinks, and food well after.
Khalil B — Google review
The manager was rude and ruined my daughters 21rst birthday! He told her she couldn't take any pics without paying a fee despite the fact we saw others taking pictures! We paid upwards of 200 for cold burnt food. Its odd because itblooked great but tasted charred. Wings were pretty ok but everything else was horrible. The band was great! Our server was top tier! They definitely need new management!! How dare you make a beautiful girl cry over a photo. She looked forward to going to this particular bar to bring her day in for a year! This made the atmosphere uncomfortable. Your first trip to a bar forba drink is supposed to be magical. He turned it to crap.
Kit L — Google review
A really solid place to go. Food was slow to come out but nothing that wouldn’t keep us coming out. The views are great. They have almost too much on tap. And the ambiance and live music was definitely worth the travel. A must try if you are in the neighborhood, at the very least for a drink and look out for the sunset color.
Alcy L — Google review
Grain’s Saturday brunch is a whole vibe—$31 gets you all-you-can-eat tacos, omelets, sweet and savory bites, plus live music and rooftop views that can’t be beat. The staff? Absolutely lovely. 100 out of 10. Norfolk, you’ve got a gem
Joshua W — Google review
Food service is terrible, server looks miserable and could care less if she took care of customers. Their cranberry vodka has no vodka so if you want to pay for over priced food and terrible service. No wonder it's called grain, cus you gotta take their service with a grain of salt.

Housed in a historic church dating back to 1873, Freemason Abbey Restaurant in Portsmouth offers a unique dining experience with its tavern-style ambiance and stunning stained glass windows. The menu features traditional American fare with standout dishes like the award-winning she-crab soup, fried chicken with hot-honey bourbon sauce, perfectly seasoned steak, stuffed pork chop, and Riverside salmon with BBQ glaze.
My husband and I went for our 3 year anniversary and we enjoyed our food and the service here! Highly recommend to anyone who’s thinking about visiting. The food tastes amazing and the waitresses were welcoming and friendly. Also the history behind the place is also really cool. Everything we ordered, we really enjoyed! Reasonable prices for the portion as well.
Mind T — Google review
Visited Freemason Abbey for the first time during restaurant week. The drinks are delicious. I had the blueberry sour and coconut mojito. The sour was better, but both were good. The melon salad was yummy. I also enjoyed the tequila lime shrimp was excellent. I tried the duck fried rice and it was good too. My friend sent the braised short rib back; it was dry and flavorless. The service is excellent! Chuck was our waiter and took very good care of us. The manager also checked on us, and two other serves cleared our dirty plates away. All in all, good first visit. Would come back to try the regular menu.

Went here with a party of 8, bill was over $500 after everyone got drinks, meals and a few sweet treats. The food was amazing!! I had the pork dish and my husband devoured the scallop risotto. I enjoyed a crème brûlée after my main dish, others at our table got prime rib, seafood and a few salads. They also enjoyed the selection of cheesecakes afterwards. Quite a special and beautiful place to splurge on yourself!
Kitty — Google review
Food was excellent. Got some take away and it was really good. I got the seafood fantasia, shrimp, scallops, onions, peppers and linguine, I added lump crab meat. I also got a 2oz sampler of the She Crab soup. Everything was just right, shrimp and scallops were not over cooked and everything was flavorful. I had an Old Fashion while I waited, my only recommendation is that they should use Luxardo cherries instead of the cheap maraschino cherries they use.
Jay S — Google review
If I could, I would give Shanteese, our server, 10 stars. She was very detailed, professional, patient, observant, responsible and her smile lit up the room. I came in to the restaurant with a toothache. I shared that news with her and ordered hot tea with honey and lemon. I asked her to keep it coming please, with 3 mugs at a time if that's easier. Well sure did exactly that, she keep my tea readily available and I never ran out. Her service never waived even though, I ordered for 2 people plus dessert. She did not miss a beat. Her smile made it all the more worthwhile. Before I left the restaurant, my toothache was gone! I told her about my updated status and raved about how excellent her service was. She suggested I leave a review and inform her manager. I was more than happy to. I am a regular patron of Freemason Abbey, with approximately 25 visits to date, but Shanteese truly took the cake. She is by far my #1. And I highly suggested her. (I can't remember the name of the dessert but it was good too.)
Levita J — Google review
I give the experience a 8.5/10, first time here. Surprised to hear this used to be a church, the aesthetic definitely matched. We came for lunch. I got the cocktail flight, it was pretty good & strong LOL! That spinach salad and she crab soup were the bomb 😋 the salmon special was okay, the sides lacked flavor and weren’t thoroughly cooked, the salmon was good, they had some kind of cinnamon glaze seasoning. We were there during happy hour as well, but you only can indulge if seated at the bar or patio.. they should change that rule lol!
Khalil B — Google review
Had dinner at Freemason Abbey while in Norfolk. Old church converted into an eating establishment. Cool vibe and very clean. Waitress was pleasent and helpful. I ordered the crabcake dinner which was very good. My friend ordered the ribs, which were fall off the bone. Prices are reasonable and I would go again when in town. Solid 4. I recommend.
Robert I — Google review
The Freemason Abby was on my found Top 10 of she crab soup in Hampton Roads area. There was lots of on street, pay by plate parking available. I found there is a lot next door and others available very close. Well the outside, the entrance and the interior are incredible ! 10 out of 10 for ambiance. Of course I started with the She Crab soup. Fantastic flavor on the thick side with lots of crab meat. It came with a piece of New York flat bread and a side bowl of fresh rolls. The lamb chops were tempting but went for a bowl of their French Onion soup. Equally as good. The Swiss cheese was different from the traditional Gruyere but as good. Made it an appetizer trifecta with the Bang Bang Shrimp. Crispy deep fried shrimp with a not spicy Thai Chili sauce. There was a dessert tray. Went with the Bread Pudding, no Key Lime pie tonight 😢 Huge piece but too full, eat it tomorrow. Overall, 10/10 for atmosphere, 10/10 for She Crab soup. 7/10 for the rest.

Restaurant
Nestled in the vibrant Historic Ghent neighborhood of Norfolk, just a short stroll from the Naro Theater, No Frill Bar and Grill is your go-to destination for a laid-back dining experience. This charming American eatery boasts an extensive menu filled with comforting classics that cater to every palate.
My brother introduced me to this restaurant and recommended their sandwiches, specifically. I went with the classic cheeseburger and added jalapeños. The burger was a perfect medium, juicy, and well seasoned. The toppings were all very fresh and crisp. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive as well. My drink was never empty during the meal, and she was prompt with any extras or condiments that we requested.

Services outstanding. The food was delicious. The portions are very generous, but the food is seasoned tasty hot and fresh. The spinach was even flavorful and tasted fresh. Love going highly recommend #YumCity.

Excellent restaurant with great staff! One the best mainstays in Norfolk. I've never had anything there I didn't like. From large parties to sit down lunch, they take great care of you from food to service. I love the French Onion soup and will get a side of onion rings for dipping into it, so good! The Rubens are really good and the NY deli sandwich is piled high. Burgers are also excellent. Discovered in my most recent visit that the potato salad is no longer made in house, so not as good as it used to be but still tasty.
Massive L — Google review
My first impression is it’s busy, meaning people love it here. My second impression was professionally dressed host/manager to seat us. Third impression was we were seated quickly and got our drink orders quickly. Great food, great service. The salmon is amazing but with a side of mash potatoes rather than rice. Meatloaf was great but too much tangy sauce (ask for sauce on side.) Great ambiance and lovely professional server, I wish I asked her name. Corn bread is a MUST!! It has a cake texture rather than bread but fantastic nonetheless. Will be back wonderful restaurant, but we all knew that!
Vanessa L — Google review
Absolutely great meal with a friend this afternoon. I arrived before him and secured our table no wait at all on a Saturday afternoon which is huge and the young lady had the good presence of mind not to seat me at one of the many in the middle of the restaurant as I would have been the one person just sitting alone this was a step extra for sure. I had the Spotswood melt which is their take on a patty melt I asked for medium and that's exactly what I got excellent sandwich, cheese perfectly melted, rye bread perfectly toasted or grilled I should say, pickles fantastic unsweet Dill chips. Fries were perfectly crispy and still hot not over-salted in fact there was room to add salt if I wanted to which is surprising nowadays. Portion is ridiculous for the price it's not cheap it is Ghent. Server was excellent wasn't pushy about the wait time for my friend to arrive and that's to finally get our order in. One of my friends told me this was the better of the two locations I'm not going to agree yet but it's closer than I expected it to be
MT — Google review
After dining here dozens of times over the years, it made sense to write a review. This place is the gold standard for consistency and great food that appeals to a large audience. The portions are nice and the pricing is fair. You always see someone you know. The only slight negative is that it can get quite loud if the place is full. The porch can be a bit quieter. We keep coming back because the food is delicious and the staff is always well trained and friendly.
Bill C — Google review
We got seated right away. Everyone was very friendly. I had the portobello pasts with grilled chicken and andouille. Presentation was great, but the tomato sauce was cold in some parts. I did tell our waitress and she asked if she could take it back, but honestly I’m a little skeptical about sending food back. I ate the chicken and cheese there was not an andouille sausage in it either. I am sure it was just an oversight. We will go back but next time just not have that dish. I was not looking for anything for free but I was a bit surprised the waitress did not apologize again.
Anthony G — Google review
There is a reason this restaurant is one of the longest operating restaurants in the Ghent area. The food is consistently top notch, the portion sizes are extremely generous, the service is outstanding and the menu has options for everybody in your party. They pretty much have everything you could want in a local restaurant and still the prices are competitive. I highly recommend no frill bar and grill to everyone.

Normally this is a great restaurant . We come often and usually get good service and food . Tonight was a totally different experience . We ordered the bacon wrapped Tater tots and they came out overcooked and tasted off ( we order them often so we are familiar with them ) we were told there is a new chef , so they replaced the order and honestly they were worse the second time. I asked for them to just be removed from the bill . We told the waitress we wanted to order dessert after the entree . The entree came out and I felt like we were totally ignored from the waitress after we initially complained . I didn’t even have a knife for a rack of lamb , several waitresses walked by and stared while we tried to cut it with a butter knife , but no one got us a knife . After about 20 minutes we figured they were just never coming back. After they could tell we were mad , everyone was apologetic , but honestly I will never return . It’s small portions and overpriced , but usually the service and atmosphere is so good it is totally worth it . But not anymore .
Lacey G — Google review
Amazing experience! Food was phenomenal and the service was out of this world. Everyone was so informative and helpful with it being our first time there. We loved the uniqueness of the food. Loved the atmosphere! Definitely a favorite restaurant of mine.
Kim B — Google review
I really love the food and the atmosphere of this restaurant! One night I had an amazing waitress who went above and beyond and was welcoming. However, tonight, a waitress named Beau/Bo was ridiculously rude on multiple occasions. My father asked for a tequila as a replacement for the original beer he had ordered (that they no longer had in stock) and instead of fulfilling his wish, she very condescendingly opened the menu in front of his face and said, “well why don’t you take a look at the menu first.” He had already looked— that’s how he knew what he wanted. She only brought maybe 5 plates of food to our table, despite us ordering far more than that. We had multiple plates and drinks that didn’t make it to our table until we asked about them several times. These things could be excusable, based upon circumstance, sure. However, the finale of this evening was NOT. As we handed her the cash payment and told her to keep the change, she very RUDELY said, “only 13 dollars?? Really?” I mean DIRECTLY to us, not under her breath or anything. She aggressively confronted us about the amount. Mind you, she had no idea what we were planning to do and how we were going to add more cash to the table prior to leaving. We confirmed, “yes 13 dollars to begin with,” and she AGAIN questioned “that’s it?” Where does the audacity come from?!! I am not one to write posts like this but I was absolutely appalled by this behavior. It was my birthday celebration and quite frankly, her behavior and attitude at the end of the evening ruined my experience. I am no longer going to be so quick to recommend this place, as I would hate to expose my friends to such a rude individual who barely even waited on us.
Georgia W — Google review
It's a warm atmosphere with excellent service. All the food is AMAZING! (Ask for Tre, the BEST SOUS CHEF IN PORTSMOUTH!) We tried the charcuterie board, bone marrow, Cajun Pasta, Lobster cheese cake, Prosciutto Asparagus and I have to say that this place has officially become my new favorite restaurant in Hampton Roads. We will be coming back again and again and again! 🤤🤤🤤🤤

The Grilled Cheese Bistro is a small, table service restaurant in downtown Norfolk that serves up incredible grilled cheese sandwiches. The sandwiches are loaded with gooey melted cheese and wildly delectable fillings, and the restaurant itself is charming and comfortable. If you're in the area, be sure to stop by for a delicious meal!
Cute little bistro close to all the things in Norfolk! Stopped in for brunch before a theater show & was not disappointed. The Fall for Giuseppe and Parmesan Chimichurri hand cut fries were AMAZING. Great flavor combinations, perfectly prepared with quality ingredients. Huge portions, definitely shareable & worth the price. My waitress was attentive without being overbearing & friendly. Restrooms were clean. The menu changes seasonally, and I look forward to checking them out this summer.
Stephanie G — Google review
Grilled Cheese Bistro is exactly that - a quaint spot with grilled cheese sandwiches that are taken to the next level. You can't go wrong with any of these sandwiches, but I highly recommend the Loaded Baked Potato grilled cheese. Even though this sandwich has fries on it, you'll regret it if you skip getting a side order of fries. The inside of this bistro is kind of small, and it has cute counter seating at the front window. It also has outside sidewalk seating, which is a great option on a nice day. As far as parking, there's on street parking up and down Granby Street.

One of the best meals I've ever had! We stopped by on a Friday afternoon around 2pm, and the restaurant was quite busy. Everything smelled so good and I had no idea what to choose, so I went with the Tasting Board. Here's what it had: Johnny Appleseed Grilled Cheese Bites (Applewood Bacon, Granny Smith Apple & Cheddar on Sourdough), Bourbon Chicken topped with Black Truffle Mac & Cheese, Rosemary Truffle Fries, Brie, Prosciutto & GCB Apple Jam with Crostini & Tomato Bisque with Parmesan Cheese It was seriously one of the best meals I've ever had. Everything was so delicious in itself, and it all worked great together too. The brie, prosciutto and apple jam with the crostini, the sandwich with the tomato bisque and the bourbon chicken with the mac & cheese. Heavenly! I talked to several other people who were eating there, and they were all raving about their food. Go check this place out!

Delicious food, good portions, a reasonably price. One sandwich and fries was enough for two meals. Staff was friendly and attractive, restaurant was clean and stylishly decorated. Well worth a vist!
Michael W — Google review
Lovely grilled cheese and nice wait staff. However, incredibly disappointed in the fried pickles. You get three spears. $7 for fried pickles and I don't even get a whole pickle??? Editing for the response: In what world would I have known I could just ask for more food for no extra cost? And if you can provide this food for no extra cost, then why don't you just include it anyway?? This response by the restaurant makes no sense.

A must visit in Norfolk! Delicious food, clean establishment, and the friendliest staff. Always something new to try. But whatever you do… you must try the parmesan chimichurri fries!

Wine bar
Luce is a charming urban establishment that offers a contemporary take on traditional Italian cuisine. The restaurant provides an intimate setting, making it perfect for a romantic evening in the downtown area. Their menu showcases a blend of northern and southern Italian influences, featuring dishes like Mushroom Toast and Wild Boar Ragu. Luce's creative twist on Italian classics includes an eclectic wine list and local beers on tap. The upscale spot offers attentive service and an elegant atmosphere, making it ideal for special occasions or memorable meals.
The fresh pasta is amazing. We had the lobster gnocchi, cannolis and profiteroles. All the dishes tasted great. Make sure to make a reservation since they are a small restaurant. Also bring jacket since it’s so small if you get sat by the door it can get cold depending on the weather.

Great Italian food in downtown Norfolk, VA. Visited on a busy weekday night. The seafood pasta was fresh, perfectly seasoned, and cooked just right. Limited seating, but we snagged spots at the bar without a reservation. Service was quick and friendly. Free parking during dinner otherwise its metered but you can pay via credit card.
Sam R — Google review
Had a great dinner here! The Luce Spritz was refreshing and delicious. The pasta is made fresh daily, and the seafood tasted like it came straight off the boat. Our waiter was incredibly attentive and informative, making the experience even better. The restaurant is on the smaller side, with limited tables and plenty of bar seating that takes up most of the space — but even the bar is often full and usually requires a reservation or joining the waitlist. Given its popularity, planning ahead is a must.
Alisha — Google review
On a recent business trip, my wife joined me and we ventured out for dinner in the city. This restaurant is small and cozy - and I mean *really* small. We called ahead to check for availability and were told we could grab seats at the bar. Perfect! We walked right in with no wait and settled in immediately. The bartender was sweet and friendly, but something was off with the service. She didn't seem overworked (the place wasn't that busy) and she didn't appear inefficient either, but the service just... wasn't great. She seemed like a lovely person who probably isn't cut out for the service industry - nothing wrong with that, just not her strong suit. Right off the bat, we hit a snag when my wife asked about swapping the tuna for shrimp on one of the dishes. Nope, absolutely not possible. It seemed like such a simple substitution, but they were completely inflexible about it. Not a great start. We started with bruschetta, which had great flavor, but it was billed as having a ricotta with it, and if there was any ricotta on there, it was microscopic however, there was about seven tomatoes worth on there... A little imbalanced and needs some improvement. I ordered a chicken dish that was quite tasty and came in a generous portion, but here's where things went downhill fast - two pieces of chicken were loaded with gristle. I'm talking completely inedible, unappetizing gristle. When you're dropping $100+ on a meal at a place like this, serving gristly chicken is just unacceptable. My wife's gnocchi with lobster was pretty good, no major complaints there. But here's the plot twist - the best thing we ate all night was a simple side of fresh pasta with basic seasoning! Seriously, it was fantastic. Maybe they should focus on nailing the basics like that incredible pasta instead of being so rigid about substitutions or serving subpar chicken. We wrapped up with a hazelnut torte that was just okay - nothing to write home about. Despite the hiccups, we actually had a fun time together, and honestly? We'd probably come back just to order that amazing plain pasta with a simple protein on the side. Sometimes the simplest things are the best! To those about to nosh, we salute you!

Everything was so impressive— food, drinks, service, atmosphere. Tracey was our server and she was a doll, so super sweet and she gave great recommendations. The wild boar ragu is definitely worth getting! The octopus was the best we’ve ever had as well as the veal! We were so pleased with our meal. We’ll be back!!

Awesome spot! Great atmosphere, delicious entrees, fun, helpful and friendly staff! We’ve been here twice and definitely going back!

Delicious, comforting Italian—just elevated. The wine selection is fantastic, and the seafood and pasta are both outstanding. I had one of the best scallop dishes I’ve ever tasted here. Everything feels thoughtfully prepared and deeply satisfying. You really can’t miss with Luce.
Derya P — Google review
My husband and I went first time there and everything was delicious and service was great. Now by the second, third and even fourth it was horrible we never went again. A male waitress made us feel so bad, we were walking to the bar because they had told us it was available and the male at the bar yelled they were occupied and all the restaurant looked at us. Very uncomfortable situation and then we sat outside and in the food there was a hair:/. We had hoped to have the same service as our first time however didn’t end up being that way and we never went again to this specific Luce in Norfolk. But we went to the one in chesapeake and loved it.

WOW! What a cool joint! Great service! Great food! VERY FRESH. VERY GOOD. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I'm not a drinker, but looks like quite a nice assortment of beer, both can and draft. I would post my burger and fries, but we ate it so fast, there's nothing left to photograph! Mmmm...so good!

Some folks been cooking good burgers for awhile and it shows. Great sized burgers not overly done in the way of doing too much. Order an Dr. Gonzo burger which was my speed. Excellent beer selection and great staff. Nice cozy bar feel which can be deceptive from outside n inside. Don’t let that deter you from a great affordable bite to eat!

Creative dive bar decorated by locals and travelers from afar with dollar bills, pictures, and more! Service was great, friendly and on point! Food was excellent!!! The sweet potato fries were the right amount of crunchy, and the burger was well done just how I like it!

Great Food! Came just to pick up a late night snack heading home after a beach day. Staff were very friendly and our food was delicious! Can’t speak to the internal atmosphere but I would say if you enjoy bars and good food you’ll get that here!

The food was amazing had the Shocker Burger and fries and fried Oreo, drinks were good and amazing staff and vibe. Very easy to sit there for an hour or two chatting up complete strangers. It does get busy so be ready to be patient for seating for bigger groups.

This place is an absolute gem! The burgers are incredible—the best I’ve ever had, and at an unbeatable price. I had a single burger with fries, and it was satisfying. I didn’t feel overly full, but if you’re really hungry, you can ask for a double. We visited on a Monday when they first opened (11 am), and it was just us, but don’t let that fool you. The place quickly filled up! The atmosphere is great too. Just remember to bring a dollar to hang up, or a bra as some people have done. And don’t expect lettuce, tomato, or onion on your burger—they don’t have them, and you don’t need them either! I wouldn’t recommend bringing children, as there are no high chairs. Just high tables. I can imagine this place getting pretty lively at night.
B J — Google review
Fun dive-bar atmosphere, and a great selection of beer. I was underwhelmed by the burger. Honestly, if I closed my eyes I would have believed I was eating a McDonald's double cheeseburger. However, the fries were actually pretty amazing.
Brandon E — Google review
Everything was 5 stars here. Friendly staff and cool decor. The burgers were good but different. I was expecting the typical giant burger but these were smaller and served wrapped in paper. The toppings were slippery and fell out of all our burgers. All go though because they tased great. Definitely a place to check out while downtown. Fried Oreos are a must.

With a dedication to ethically managed produce, the menu features only a few daily-changing dishes crafted from high-quality ingredients. Situated near the MacArthur Center, this small European-style bistro offers high standards and prices.
I sought out Chartreuse Bistro based off of reviews prior to visiting the Norfolk area. I am really glad I was able to stop in for lunch. The service was incredible & the menu was unique in a way that makes you want to go back to see what else they come up with. I had a great time & wish the owners the best to keep doing what they do.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Chartreuse. The outstanding service began with the call for reservations and didn't end until we left that evening. When making my reservation, I explained to the hostess that my husband had a food allergy and that it was a special night for us. When we arrived, our menus Were made just for us with "Happy Anniversary" printed on them. While ordering with our server, he was aware of the food allergy and made sure to communicate it with the chef without needing a reminder from us. The food was incredible! It was quiet in the restaurant (we were there on a weeknight). The dining room is open and Modern. The meal was a bit on the pricey side but it was worth it and we were celebrating. we will surely return there for another amazing meal. Chartreuse, if you are reading this, thank you for making our anniversary even more special!

Absolutely amazing fare. I can't recommend them enough. Garlic Martini is my favorite. Along with their Crudo hour and rotating menu. Can't go wrong.

Incredible, outstanding, unique. Reserving a table was easy. The atmosphere was very quaint and calming; just what I needed after a month of chaotic work. The customer service was exquisite, especially as E was waiting on three tables and K was cooking up magic in the kitchen. The food was so good!! Left feeling more than satisfied; no evening snacks required tonight. Then finished the night with a few cocktails, including an off-menu cocktail that E made up on the spot and wow; it hit the spot. The perfect warming cocktail to finish the night on. Amazy!! Thank you and see you soon team!!

Excellent quick friendly service. Had a regular size Boston dog which also comes in a foot long option. Dog had snap and the bun was toasted very tasty. Ordered a grilled Ham n Swiss on rye it was just right. Sweet potato waffle fries with cinnamon sugar were recommended by staff. Waffle fries were just ok a little overcooked and under seasoned. Looking for a good hot dog some affordable lunch downtown Norfolk Al’s is a great stop!

Uncle Al’s Hot Dogs is the real deal! I stopped by and tried the Chicago dog and a chili dog with mustard and onion — both were absolutely delicious. The hot dogs were packed with flavor, the toppings were fresh, and everything tasted like it was made with care. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. You can tell they take pride in what they do. Whether you’re a hot dog lover or just looking for a great quick bite, Uncle Al’s is a must-visit. Can’t wait to go back and try more! 🌭

This hot dog stop makes a good breakfast. We were quickly seated and got our own drinks. I had a bacon egg & cheese bagel. My wife had bacon and egg on a French toast sandwich with warm syrup. Both were fresh and hot. You can watch the cook while she prepares your food. Well done. I plan to grab a chili dog before leaving town. Unfortunately, never got the dog. However, we had another breakfast before heading home. We split their bacon and cheese omelet with hash browns. Tasty.
George R — Google review
I usually enjoy Uncle Al’s Hot Dogs the food is always great, and I normally don’t have issues with service. However, today I had a very concerning experience. I witnessed the cook drop a large knife on the floor, then place it back on the counter. Moments later, she attempted to use the same knife to cut food from the grill, which I assumed was for my order. I immediately spoke up and asked her to use a different knife, letting her know I saw the entire situation from start to finish (I stated to the cook that I saw exactly what she did from the moment it happened to the moment she picked the knife up). Instead of apologizing or addressing the concern properly, the cook became very defensive, loud, and angry, saying she had “wiped it off.” I asked for a refund, and she walked away still upset and raising her voice. This was not only unprofessional but also a serious food safety issue. As much as I’ve enjoyed this place in the past, this experience left me very disappointed and concerned.
Shernicia R — Google review
The wife and I were visiting and our hotel was in walking distance so we tried it out. The breakfast was sooo delicious grits, sausage and gravy, BLT and the ultimate Omelet was the business! Thanks again Mr. Robert (cooking) and Emma (waitress) for the best service and food! Very professional and kind! 5 stars plus! 🌟

The food tasted amazing and the prices were unbelievably affordable. I was also surprised by the sit down service as well. The customer service was outstanding. I didn’t even realize we were in there past their normal closing time until I came here to leave a review because they were so nice to us anyway. It was a great break from our event and my kids and I will definitely be returning.

This review is for “debbie” As i was waiting i was sitting at the bar area but before i got to the area there was a man already sitting there waiting for his food same as i was doing. I guess ME sitting there was a problem for her that she needed to tell another crew member to have me move. the reason was people have broken the ankle. Im a little confused on what that has-to do with me. If a area is not safe it needs to be removed maybe add more seats instead of togo paying customers stand for mins at a time on a hungry stomach! Debbie will never have to worry about me coming back there ever again. She has bad customer service and she wasnt even working the front of the store but her nasty present was in the air!!!! DO BETTER DEBBIE also had to beg for her name smh

It's been awhile since changing jobs that I've enjoyed the delicious & consistent lunch from GG, but today I had the opportunity to lunch with a coworker. My "custom" shrimp wrap was delicious and my colleagues chicken salad, pasta salad & fresh fruit was excellent! GG is operating under Covid protections (THANKS for caring for your employees as well!!) and today had wonderful weather to enjoy the outdoor seating available! GG is still on top of their game!!! 😋

This is near my office downtown and I walk by it every day on my lunch hour. I'm so glad I stopped by. Ordering was easy and food ready super fast. I had the teriyaki chicken wrap with jalapeño chips and a heath cookie. The whole thing was amazing, I'll be back again.

Pretty good. Group order of about a dozen lunch box meals to go. All came out nicely and portions were good. The different chips and addition of cookies rounded out a nice lunch. Staff was ready for us to pick up and process was painless. Did the online order and pretty much got in and out on curbside pickup.

My first time here and I am very picky about eating chicken salad and I definitely enjoyed my order. I like how refreshing it was on the warm and muggy day. It wasn't to heavy on my stomach afterwards. I am definitely going to go back and try another item in the menu! 😋

Awful. The entirety of my chicken ceaser salad was stems. Absolutely no leaf! Poor service with rude staff who refused to give out to-go boxes. They insisted on "wrapping it up" in non-recyclable plastic wrap. I will never go back due to the low quality and service.

A few people complained in reviews that the wait time was long and the place replied that they recommend ordering through their app so it’s quicker. So that’s exactly what we did. The app said the wait time is about 10min, so we ordered and slowly walked out of our nearby hotel, and got to the place about 15min later. We still waited another 15-20min for our order. My husband politely asked one of the guys that worked there, thinking that maybe they didn’t get our order, or they forgot etc, but he very rudely answered with “can’t you see that we’re a little busy here”. Good food, but rude staff.
Iga K — Google review
Food and coffee is good, but they are under manned by two people. 30 minute wait and one worker. Do not waste your time. There are other coffee places in a 3 minute walk. They should close this location, or hire an appropriate amount of workers!
Alfred M — Google review
Nice latte, but as other reviews have said— surprisingly very long wait, especially with no other orders to fulfill. Coffee was thankfully good but I was not the only customer to get frustrated with the wait since others came after me. I was honestly confused that it could’ve taken so long with three employees. On the pricier side but as expected for the area.
JK A — Google review
Everyone that works here is so lovely<3 I ordered a vegan sandwich and iced pistachio milk latte today. I appreciated that they double checked for allergens with me. The wait was not long at all. A little bit on the pricier side for the size of the food items but that is kinda how it goes with pricing nowadays. The quality of the drink was very good and i like that they offer pistachio milk. I want to try the oat bowl and lemonade drinks next. Please bring back the sweet potato latte it was divine and on my mind since i had it over a year or two ago<3

Just stop saying you offer food…you can’t do it. Stick to juice… but just the ready made stuff that people can serve themselves… Otherwise it’s quicker to have a full sit down dinner with apps, mains and deserts at a restaurant that knows what it’s doing.
