Seafood restaurant
Live music venue
Located in the historic Cape Charles Harbor on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, The Shanty is a casual cottage eatery offering a unique dining experience. Opened in 2012, it features locally caught seafood and other sourced items. Guests can dine inside, at the bar, or on the covered deck while enjoying creative dishes and live music. The restaurant's rustic-industrial aesthetic and waterfront patio make it a favorite hangout spot for locals.
Absolutely delicious food with a beautiful view of the water. We were fortunate, we visited mid-afternoon and had no wait. But, by the time we were leaving at 4 PM it was starting to fill up. Seating is available both inside and out. Outdoor seating in front of the restaurant is available if you’re having to wait for a table. They also have music playing. Do NOT skip the crab dip. INCREDIBLE!!
Donna N — Google review
The Shanty is a “must dine” seafood experience right on the water. The view is striking and the food is exceptional. I had the fish and chips and the batter was just right. Not too thick and deliciously seasoned. My wife had the crab cake burger and loved it. We would go back in a heartbeat the next time we’re in the area.

Everything was amazing here. The food, the service, the views. On a Saturday evening in July, wait was an hour and a half but was well worth it. Beautiful view of the sunset over the water, great food, great drinks. Just an outstanding experience all around!
Marcellino S — Google review
Lovely place right on the water. We ended up dining her several times during our trip to Cape Charles. Great drinks, beautiful outdoor bar to catch a sunset. Everything we had was delicious. Our bartender was also excellent.
Emile B — Google review
The food here is pretty good. Had the Po boy / shrimp sandwich and coleslaw as well as calamari and a seafood dish. The calamari was good but the sauce was kind of tangy. The other stuff was fresh and good. The atmosphere is relaxing with the beach vibes setting. The only thing that threw it off was the industrial stuff on the left.
Unasian — Google review
We have ate here every time we visit Cape Charles. Service, Environment & Food was great. We will definitely return. Little warm inside didn’t feel like AC was on when it was 90s outside. No breeze. Only down fall but could handle
Crystal L — Google review
Loved eating here our last night in Cape Charles. We even drove the golf cart over from town. The food was okay but the porch and sunset made it even better. Nice relaxing atmosphere and I would come back.

Cute spot and great service. We loved the scenery on the bay. Servers we promised and friendly. Fish tacos were good.

Bistro
Nestled at the Cape Charles Yacht Center, Hook @ Harvey is a casual yet refined bistro offering delectable dining experiences. The Crab Chesapeake en Bouche, featuring jumbo lump crab and shiitake mushrooms over puff pastry with a hint of sherry, is a must-try starter. Indulge in entrees like lemon caper chicken breast or pan-seared beef tenderloin.
From our brief wait on the deck by all the boats and yachts, to an amazing meal inside brought to us by our delightful waitress, Anna-we were just blown away. We even made a brief trip outside to get a couple nice pics with the beautiful sunset 🌇 A truly memorable meal from start to finish! I even found their sherry crab bisque that rivals my favorite of all time she-crab soup at Crab Louies 🦀, that used to be in Midlothian, VA! Thank you for a great birthday meal worth celebrating!! Be sure to call ahead to get your reservation!
R E — Google review
The wait staff was very fun and the food was appropriately timed and was delicious. You will not be disappointed. They also made recommendations for food sensitivities. The only reason for four stars and honestly, it should be four and half stars was that a very loud group was seated and it made hearing anything almost impossible. The restaurant could use some noise reduction art on the ceiling or something so it's not so live in their. I can't believe with this place being recommended to me two years ago that the haven't done something about it. Apparently a patron complained about it the day before as well. Come on guys! Let's get five stars! You deserve it. Just fix this one thing.
Heidi K — Google review
All my research for our short weekend visit to Cape Charles said dinner at Hook @ Harvey is a must. Well color me intrigued! Y'all were not wrong! Driving up to the restaurant we saw picturesque views of the marina, sailboats, catamarans and a sunset, a perfect start to the evening. Reservations are a must! The dining room is small and has an intimate feel. Of note, I can appreciate how the elevated noise level in the small area could affect one's experience. The noise level did slowly and steadily rise during our time there, but did not affect our experience. Sara our waitress was amazing! Attentive, kind, funny, engaging, and accommodating and she made great recommendations for our stay in the area. She is an absolute gem! We had the jumbo seared scallops, halibut (fish du jour), peanut butter ganache and pecan praline dessert, key lime dessert, an old fashioned and Malbec. Everything was superbly plated and expertly timed. All food is made in-house which adds to the elevated experience. Typically I take a lot of photos but, I promised my husband I would be fully present for this experience. So a dessert photo is all you get, this time. We will most certainly return and I promise to take more photos. I cannot recommend Hook @ Harvey enough when visiting Cape Charles. We will most certainly return.
Danielle — Google review
We’ve been regular diners at this restaurant during our visits to our vacation home in Cape Charles and have consistently enjoyed our experiences—until this most recent visit, which was unfortunately quite disappointing. Despite the relatively normalcy of the dining room, it took over 20 minutes for our non-alcoholic drinks to arrive. The fettuccine, which was described as having “lemongrass undertones,” arrived as a green, clumped-together portion of noodles with minimal flavor. The fish of the day—halibut—was equally underwhelming. Rather than the firm, steak-like cut we expected, it was flaky, watery, and lacked both freshness and flavor, suggesting it may have been previously frozen. Adding to the frustration, one member of our party fell ill earlier in the day and was unable to attend. While we understand reservation policies, we were still charged $20 for the individual who could not make it—despite the remaining five of us being present. On the flip side, the rolls were excellent—fresh, warm, and one of the few highlights of the meal. We also noted that the menu has remained unchanged for the past 2–3 years. While this might be ideal for tourists, it’s becoming increasingly stale for returning guests like us. We truly hope this was just an off night, as this restaurant has long been a favorite. But unfortunately, this visit fell short of expectations in both food and service.
Eric S — Google review
This restaurant was the top recommended one when talking to friends who had visited Cape Charles. We made reservations for our first wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint. We ordered a bottle of wine, appetizers, entrees and ended with a dessert and everything was spectacular. The service was great. The place is a little small and loud depending on the guests in attendance. For appetizers we got the ahi tuna, crab bisque and dinner rolls. The tuna could be an entree it was so much and SO fresh. Highly recommend both. For entrees, we both went with the beef tenderloin. It was fantastic and came with whipped potatoes, carrots, broccolini, pumpkin(?), and green beans. For dessert, we went with a chocolate cheesecake with Oreo and kahlua and homemade whipped cream. Omg. It was incredible.
Casey K — Google review
My man and I went for dinner. The greeter was prompt and friendly. We were early for our reservation, so we sat at the bar while we waited. The bartender was friendly and skilled at preparing me a delicious mocktail. When we were seated for dinner, our waitress was knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. The chef must be very skillful because our food was the best we’ve had on the shore. Everything was perfect!
Lanetta — Google review
As many have said, you will have a delicious meal here. Our veal and halibut were expertly prepared and very tasty. This is subtly prepared food. Ingredients are fresh, like greens and asparagus from a garden outside the door. The warm rolls and unsalted butter might have been a touch bland, but again, subtle. Our server, Rachel, was a delight and steered us toward the fantastic peanut butter and chocolate ganache torte. We truly enjoyed the food and our time here and would be happy to return. It is a year later and we returned for our 44th Anniversary with good friends. The four of us enjoyed every bite of our delicious dinners. Thank you for another fantastic culinary experience.
Nicole F — Google review
This is a perfect place for a special occasion or a splurge. I sat at the bar which had a warm, friendly feel. The best part of the meal was the butternut squash soup that was a great mix of sweet and savory. I had a local fish and crab entree that was made with high quality ingredients. I enjoyed the vibe of this place, it was fun at the bar.

Restaurant
The Oyster Farm Seafood Eatery is a charming, nautical-themed restaurant located on the Chesapeake Bay. With its upmarket seafood offerings and deck dining, it provides a front-row seat to breathtaking bay views. Whether you're enjoying a leisurely lunch on the beachfront deck or savoring a candlelit dinner with someone special, this eatery offers an unforgettable ambiance and attentive staff.
The food was great. The view during sunset was SO BEAUTIFUL. I went to the location when it was empty, so service was speedy.
Goeun — Google review
It’s a shame, such a beautiful location and sub-par service with sub-par food for the evening. This was my first time visiting Oyster Farm and it will be the last. The view from a window seat is amazing! Can’t take anything away from them there. By my goodness, why does it take an hour to get a sandwich? Chicken salad BLT with cold toast, over stuffed lettuce and cold fries took an hour, along with a simple grouper filet sandwich with zero taste. Our server left the food in the kitchen until we finally asked what the hold up was. She was distracted talking with the people she knew. Food comes out in an illogical way here. Complicated meal orders were coming out long after we ordered our food. Even a small tray of raw oysters took a half hour to arrive at the table. This restaurant is an old fashion Hollywood movie set, it has a great facade but when you turn to the side it’s cardboard thin, no substance.
Rob W — Google review
The fresh oysters here are, as expected, large and wonderful. My husband and father-in-law often like to stop here and get them raw as snacks when we're in town and the view of the water and inside of this restaurant is very nice. I've had dinner here a few times years ago but the menu has since changed. Parking is usually easy to find and you can walk around and enjoy the area which is so pretty. This entire area is a marina and boat landing with tours and fishing trips leaving from here and it has some stunning decks and waterfront views to enjoy.
Alison M — Google review
This place should hit it out of the park. There are clam beds and an oyster farm in front of the outdoor deck. A local brewery is down the road. World famous Cherrystone Clams next door. Guess what? They don't source from any of them. Frozen food from Sysco is what you'll get here. The service was abysmal. Two servers, three tables and it took forever for food to arrive. The waitress was at a table talking with friends for most of the time. When the food arrived an hour later it was cold... we sent it all back and went up the highway to an amazing clam shack instead. I don't know if this place is a corporate establishment or what, but it busted my Sunday and they should just close in the offseason if they can't deliver.
Mike K — Google review
Terrible experience. We had reservations, the hostess literally rolled her eyes when we asked if we could sit outside and then she just said no you can’t. There were people outside eating and enjoying the sunset… no explanation at all as to why we couldn’t also sit outside. We payed $235 total and the food sucked to be honest. It was blah, felt like sauce out of a jar. It was cold by the time it got to us. The seafood tasted like frozen crap that was freezer burnt and overcooked. Dry and bland. We spoke to the manager, he told us they are understaffed. Ridiculous, you charge enough money to hire more people. No silverware was on the table, we waited for 45-50 minutes for our food and still there was no silverware on the table. When we asked for silverware while our food was getting even colder than it already was, we were graced with some attitude from a random girl that came up with silverware and gave us a weird face and made excuses “we’ve been rolling silverware as we go”. I will say our server was the only nice person in there. Overall, I would never recommend this place to anyone, not even my worst enemy. It was FREEZING in there as well even with a sweatshirt. Apparently there’s new management that took over recently and I noticed multiple 1 star reviews began recently. I wish I would’ve listened to the reviews and saved my family from a bad experience.
Kendall D — Google review
We waited a good 10 mins to be acknowledged by the waiter. He then tried to sell us dessert before we had even gotten our meal. He never once followed up after our meal or offered us a second round of drinks. Food was great; service, not great.
Patti L — Google review
Very disappointing experience… 5 stars for location, 1 for service. We wanted to enjoy our last day of vacation here, with some bubbles, local oysters and a nice final meal. We ordered our bubbles, together with 2 appetizers: oysters and a tuna dish. Got our bubbles… Our waitress asked if we wanted to put in our mains, which we did, expecting our appetizers to arrive anytime now… but nothing to be seen until our glasses were empty. We asked again for them, and ordered a bottle of wine since we were out of drinks. Suddenly our main courses appear. So we cancelled our appetizers as they seemed to skip them for us anyways… Eventually the wine arrived after my husband already finished his meal. We also got a very poor excuse why the appetizers didn’t come out before our entrees. Also, we were the only clients in the restaurant. Can’t imagine what it’s like when it’s actually busy . On top of that: food was mediocre, no fresh fries… and obviously, we have idea how the oysters are… Sorry but this was a disaster. So much potential, as the location and views are stunning, which made it even more sad.
Emilia D — Google review
We went to have dinner at this very beautiful restaurant, the stunning sea view. We made a reservation first to be able to arrive and be taken care of quickly. We start with some appetizers and drinks before ordering dinner. We were attended by a very kind lady. We also met a worker who helped us at all times in the attentions at the table. The food was very delicious, I loved the fried 🍤 shrimp. We enjoyed the food and the pleasant atmosphere. Everything was delicious. The service is very good and the place is very clean.

Brewpub
Restaurant
Cape Charles Brewing Company is a must-visit destination in the renaissance of Cape Charles, Virginia. Situated just 10 miles north of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, this brewery offers a perfect blend of picturesque outdoor space, delicious bar food, and flavorful brews. Visitors can enjoy crowd favorites like the Honeysuckle Wheat and Tangier Island Double IPA while taking in the laid-back coastal lifestyle that defines Cape Charles.
We were looking for a chill lunch spot and we found it at Cape Charles Brewing Company. A large parking lot along Route 13 with a great spacious outdoor area complete with chairs, tables, shade, and lots of room for kids to get their wiggles out. The indoor area is spacious, outfitted with traditional tables, a few high top tables and bar seating. Pick up a menu upon entering, selections include pub food with a focus on seafood. Orders are placed at the bar and food is picked up at the window area with condiments available. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable. We had the Beer Battered Rockfish sandwich. When they say a huge portion, believe them, it was plenty for two people. The pineapple sour was refreshing. Staff is friendly and accommodating. It's a perfect venue for a mid road trip stop, an afternoon lunch or a get together with friends in the evenings. We look forward to returning on our next visit to Cape Charles. Cheers!

Great stop for those traveling on US 13 - only 1.4 miles off the highway. Typical pub food with a seafood emphasis. The burger was particularly flavorful. 1/2 pound of steamed shrimp was 9 jumbo shrimp, FYI. I’d suggest asking for them with more Old Bay. Be aware - there is no wait staff. You order at the bar and pickup at a window. But the staff we encountered were all friendly and accommodating. Large outside eating area that would be good for kids. We didn’t try the beer so I can’t comment on that. Overall - well worth the stop to avoid fast food on the road!
Michael S — Google review
They have a great selection of beers avaliable to drink there or cans to go. You order your food at the bar and get a text when your order is ready so there wasn't a ton of "service" this the 4 stars but everyone was nice. The food was pretty good. The steamed shrimp were a little over cooked. The clam chowder was pretty good. I ordered a side salad with the chowder and God a salad for 4! My wife and son both had the fish tacos and they both liked it.
Mark W — Google review
Delicious food and beer. We had the Brew Daddy Burger, shrimp tacos, fish and chips and corn dog nuggets for the kids. It’s a perfect spot for families, there was a ton for kids to play with out back.
Ashley S — Google review
Fun stop for cold beer and crab cakes. Mary gave excellent service and chatted with us for a bit. Always good to talk with the locals. Highly recommend!

Great food and service!!! We are not big brewery people but loved two of their beers. We had a flight and some apps. We took home two different beers and some merch. Didn’t have kids with us this time, but the outdoor play area for kids looked like a lot of fun!

The food & beer are delicious. We stop by every time we visit the area. Nice seating area outside, lots of food options for adults and kids.

This brewery is a good stop along Rt 13 if you're traveling along the Eastern Shore. It's especially good to do before you cross the bridge tunnel and the madhouse of VA Beach and Hamton Roads. Chill with a glass of beer and the fish tacos.

Experience a taste of Italy in Cape Charles at Ambrogia Caffé & Enoteca, located on Mason Avenue. The menu offers a variety of Italian dishes such as fresh pasta, panini, fig pie, scallops, Mediterranean salads, chestnut risotto, and Valentines Day crepes. Pair your meal with Pellegrino or an authentic Italian drink. The cafe's rotating menu ensures fresh and authentic cuisine for every visit.
When in Cape Charles, this is the place you need to put on your list. My wife and I love this place! The food is incredibly good! The service felt so personal, we felt like long lost family members being welcomed home. I had the House made Fettuccine with smoked chicken and exotic mushrooms, outta this world. This Italian food is as authentic as it gets. Freshly made from scratch on premise, even down to the last strand of pasta.

I was on a trip up to Exmore coming from North Carolina and desired to stop by Cape Charles for a quick bite to eat. I walked in and was greeted by a very rude server, she said that if I didn’t have a reservation that it would be very hard to be seated but the place was completely empty. I politely told her that I was in a bit of a rush and that I didn’t understand why I couldn’t be seated and she was so upset for no reason! Once I finally got seated after lots of trouble I ordered some pasta because I thought it wouldn’t take too long to come out due to the empty restaurant. I ordered the pasta with one small alteration and I was instantly hammered on because “it doesn’t taste good if you change it”. I was so ticked off but I was not in the mood to get in an argument so I just let them make it the way they said would be best. When I finally did get the pasta it was a ridiculously tiny portion and it was crazy expensive. Once I arrived I was aware of the high prices but I expected at least double the portion provided. The pasta wasn’t even that good! It was a very basic dish and I feel as though even I (a very minimally experienced chef) could do way better. More recently I went to the place pane e vino across the street and it was so much better! Although my experience was a few months ago I feel as though an experience like mine is very hard to make up for. I would give this place a zero out of five if I could. Not only because of the food, but mainly because of the TERRIBLE service. I will not be coming here ever again!
Betty K — Google review
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here this year and haven’t stopped talking about it since! It was a world class meal in an intimate and friendly atmosphere with unmatched service. We put it in our top 3 dining experiences ever- with the other 2 being in Paris! Having this experience in such a welcoming and lovely quiet beach town makes it all the better. I especially recommend following the wine suggestions and trying something new. We cannot recommend it enough and cannot wait to come back!
Maggie D — Google review
The finest dining in Cape Charles. Reservations are strongly recommended. We were seated outside on a warm Saturday evening, and had pickled vegetables including olives, a flight of red wines, and the branzino (a whole fish with head and tail). Everything was delicious and the owner and server were very friendly. A great experience in every way.
Chris S — Google review
A wonderful evening! We knew to expect a limited menu and an expectation to share courses before our arrival. Once we established with our server that we anticipated a relaxed evening meal, we had a fantastic experience. The olives introduced us to a red olive that had a slightly smoky flavor which paired beautifully with the cheeses from the designated cheese board, but I wish that two of the 4 cheeses had been given time to warm up. Overall, the portions allowed for easy sharing and the flavors were amazing.
Rebecca R — Google review
I love this little Italian restaurant and have eaten here a number of times for dinner. I believe on Sundays they also have brunch. It's small inside so a reservation is your best bet if you want to be sure they can accommodate you. The menu is often changing based upon what is in season and locally available. The owner is Italian and takes a lot of pride in the food and establishment, often coming to every table to speak to everyone. Highly recommend this place. The pasta is made in-house and the fish is fresh. Their desserts are a MUST!
Alison M — Google review
My fiancé and I had brunch here during our vacation, and were so pleased with our meal. The food was delicious, well seasoned, and made with real ingredients. The crepes in particular were delicious. The service was excellent, and the staff were all very welcoming and accommodating. We will definitely be back!!
Alexandra D — Google review
Saw this place while headed somewhere else and what a treat! We got lucky and got the only table not reserved. Christina was delightful and the experience was closer to a genuine Italian meal than any I’ve had outside of Italy. The food was exceptional and her knowledge of what was being served made you feel like she had a relationship with each dish. (And I think she does). Menu is small but changes often. Definitely worth the drive across the bridge. We will be back.

Cape Charles Coffee House is a charming cafe located in an old bank building, offering a stylish and vintage interior with tin ceilings, art deco chandeliers, and rich brass fixtures. It's a perfect spot to enjoy coffee, tea, beer, and wine along with breakfast, sandwiches, and treats. The cafe provides an amazing view of the Chesapeake Bay from every seat in the house.
Fantastic food, great staff, incredible interior! Went for breakfast. Belgian waffle, covered in fruit, and I'm not talking about 3 blueberries, I'm saying sliced banana, strawberries, grapes, blueberries, orange slice. 3 pieces of bacon. Toast that had to have come from one of the local bakeries. Wife had eggs over medium, bacon and rye toast. Everything was perfect. A must go when in Cape Charles.

The place is adorable and the food mediocre. We came in as soon as they opened and the place filled up incredibly quick. There was one waitress named Sarah and she was picking and choosing who she wanted to serve. Example; we had been seated, a party of two, and for at least 15 minutes we showed the staff grace because they were incredibly busy. Several tables came in after us and were helped before us. One table walked in and was helped immediately because they knew the waitress. I understand how small towns work. And I encourage that type of camaraderie. But we waited for 33 minutes before we were even acknowledged. I had to go up to the bar to order our food. Our saving grace was a waitress named Nicole. She helped us immediately. She realized the frustration and did everything she could to make sure we got our drinks as soon as possible. She was personable, incredibly friendly and turned the entire experience around. I was told that they were short staffed. Somebody had decided not to show up, so I understand working in the hospitality business how things go. In the end, I would definitely come back here again because the place has decent food good mimosas and a staff even though stretched thin do what they can. Kudos to Nicole, Sarah please do better.

Had the best french toast of my life! Sure, you've had it before, but not like what they're serving up at CCCH! Delicious with a surprise note. Dine alfresco and let the sun be your shared appetizer.

Pancakes were delicious! My husband had a breakfast burrito that was also very good. The staff were very kind and working hard. Amy was our waitress and Jeffery assisted. They have staff checking the plates before the food goes out to ensure it is correct. It was very good! Breakfast was the best.

Excellent spot for breakfast when visiting Cape Charles. Hot chocolate was delicious, and I loved the waffles with bacon! You can't go wrong with breakfast/brunch at this cute coffee house. (Also, if you happen to be a reader of romantic suspense books, this quiet cozy town is the inspiration for USA Today Bestselling Author Maryann Jordan's Baytown Boys series. I recently visited on July 3rd. I have heard a lot of good things about this place, but I didn't have a good experience. I asked the hostess if we needed to wait or if there were any open tables. She didn't say anything, but she pointed to a table. We sat down and ordered coffees, and they were good. I ordered a Caesar salad and a wrap, and they were disappointing for the price and the 35 minutes we waited. We also didn't get any water or silverware.I do not think we will go back but that's my choice!!

Mason Avenue Bakery is a delightful and cozy downtown bakery that offers a variety of freshly baked goods, including sourdough bread, muffins, scones, cookies, baguettes, and sandwiches. The interior exudes a neat and inviting atmosphere with a grab-and-go table and a display of delectable pastries. While the service may have some hiccups, the staff is friendly. Visitors rave about their exceptional cold brew coffee and generously sized chocolate chip cookies.
Came in around lunch time to see if I could snag some sourdough, sadly they were out but makes total sense for an awesome bakery like this that makes all things in house. The girl at the cash register kindly recommend I get the everything baguette instead and that was a LOVELY suggestion. So delicious, perfectly soft, warm, and crisp around the edges. I wish I had more time on my trip to come back here because I'd love to try all their baked goods!

Hands down the best bakery in town! The coffee cake was absolutely amazing. So delicious and fresh along with the coffee. Most definitely will be back here when I come back to Cape Charles Virginia!

The food at the Mason Avenue Bakery was delicious. However, I only gave it four stars for service because the service was extremely slow. We waited about 15–20 minutes for a bagel, but I will say that the line was out the door. I also only gave four stars for the atmosphere because you can’t sit in there. It’s just a order and go type of place. There are patio tables you can sit at outside the bakery providing you go there when it is warm. Staff was very polite and apologetic for the slow service. But the food was great.

We were so pleased with everything about this bakery! Great communication and excellent packaging of our purchases. The everything croissants I am still dreaming about. The brownies and chocolate chip cookies were huge and delicious. The crud find are for a very sweet tooth so we found them a bit less appetizing. Muffins were also delicious. This place is a must if you go to cape Charles!

Mason Avenue Bakery has the best baguettes! So good. Their shortbread cookies are also delicious. I'm very lucky to live in the same town as this bakery. I bike 6 miles from my house, and I'm hoping I burn enough calories to offset enjoying their goodies. This is a lovely business in every way.

Small bakery with really delicious sandwiches - I've gotten a few here while spending the day at the beach in the past and love them. Their cookies and baked goods are also phenomenal. It's very small with no where to sit inside, but they have a few wrought iron tables outside the sit nearby and enjoy your goodies if you'd like. Right in the heart of the main part of Cape Charles so an easy in and out to keep shopping and walking or you can grab breakfast or lunch to take to the beach with you.

Their sandwiches on fresh baked baguettes are awesome. We especially liked the Cape Charles. Friendly family vibe and everything is super fresh - you can watch them baking the bread while you order.

We ordered three cakes from here for our wedding and they were all amazing! We had the strawberry shortcake, flourless chocolate, and apple cake - our guests loved them all! They were super helpful taking the order a few weeks in advance and helped out our family when they came to pick everything up day-of!

We visited 4 years ago and came back this year. Service was fantastic our waiter was super friendly she recommended a blueberry cocktail and it was delicious. Of course there are flies if u sit outdoors BUT they warn you it didn’t bother us at all. Parking is easy well we visited in September not sure during peak season. Kids meals are good size, crab dip delicious wish it had like small toasted bread on the side not pita. Loaded nachos were great too. Anyway we will be back Thank you for wonderful service.

What a cute place! Very historic and cozy. The decor and atmosphere was inviting. The service was prompt and friendly. My family and I visited while traveling for a late lunch on a Sunday. The downtown location is scenic and the food was delicious. There is outdoor seating, and I saw a woman that had her dog with her, so the restaurant is pet friendly. I had the BBQ chicken nachos. My daughters had the fish and chips and a casear salad. My husband had the crabcake sandwich. And my son had the wings. We ordered dessert to go because we were so full, but the carrot cake Smith island cake and the coconut cake looked too tasty to pass up. The whole experience was amazing. Highly recommend:-)

Such a unique and cozy place. I love how the restaurant areas were separated opposed to typical large open spaces. Our waitress was great. Food was great and came out hot. We were quickly seated as a party of 9 on a Sunday afternoon. The only downside was that our bill was not able to be split per person so one of us covered the entire bill since we mostly had cards. This wasn’t mentioned before we received the bill.

We were vacationing in Cape Chales, Virginia. The first night there we had dinner at Kelly's Pub. I loved every minute. Kelly's used to be a bank building, and the atmosphere is very cozy, comfortable, and historic. I ordered prime rib, medium rare. The waitress told me they only had 2 end pieces remaining, and they could only cook those well done. I was disappointed, but appreciated her telling me that. In place, I ordered the 22-oz boneless ribeye. It was a good decision. It came with French fries and broccolini. Everything was well cooked and seasoned, without being too salty. Delicious. My husband chose the shepherd's pie, which was steaming hot and equally good. The staff were all very friendly and efficient. We spent a lot of time just chatting with the manager while we finished our meal. Quite enjoyable. The crowning glory to this meal was the bread pudding. Oh my goodness. I do not like bread pudding, but this was amazing. It was buttery rich, with pecans and blueberries, and also had crispy, buttery bits like topping you might put on a crumble. Absolutely delicious. Food for the gods... If you are ever in Cape Charles, do yourself a favor and eat here.

Besides hearing the women at the table diagonal from us who coughed super loudly every few seconds, we had a really nice meal. Our server was prompt, nice, and knowledgeable of the menu. I highly recommend the "Fisherman's Seafood Soup" my goodness, it was yummy. The hubby got the "Hog Wild" burger and was pleasantly enjoying how tasty it was; he cleaned his plate. 😊 Definitely will stop into Kelly's again when we visit the in-laws in Cheriton.

Great atmosphere, professional service (Tony) and amazing food! Highly recommend the seafood chowder (loaded!) , Reuben and Cuban sandwiches were on point and the onion rings were perfect. All first rate. Thank you!
Richard G — Google review
I ordered a house said which was huge and fresh. I also ordered a grilled cheese and French fries. I couldn’t eat the sandwich because it was super greasy and I was not a fan of the combination of cheeses which was provolone and Swiss. If you like that, again this sandwich was huge. The other dish pictured is a Brussel sprout dish which my husband loved. Interestingly I asked for a cup of black tea and the waitress didn’t seem to think they had that available. Also, they did not have half and half. She brought out a small cup of heavy cream. The coffee my husband ordered was unable to be drank. It was super bitter. We believe she filled the cup before the coffee was finished brewing because after telling him he would have to wait a long time to brew, it came right out. Overall, the experience was slightly less than average. The restaurant seemed clean and other than the food and a few mis-steps in service it was ok.
Cat L — Google review
THIS is a really COOL place. We grabbed lunch here on 10-23-22 and loved it. The menu is not extensive by any means (we just got burgers) but it’s not bad. Food was above average. Service was great. The atmosphere is really exceptional. This is an old bank repurposed into a restaurant/pub. There is even seating so you can eat in the old vault. If you are in Cape Charles VA, put this one on your list for sure.

Brown Dog Ice Cream is an exceptional ice cream shop located in Chincoteague. Customers rave about their delectable offerings, surpassing competitors like Island Creamery and Mister Whippy in both flavor and quality. Although the coffee remains untested, it is expected to outshine even the renowned Mister Whippy. The distance of a one-hour drive is easily justified for a visit to this outstanding establishment.
By far this is the best and most satisfying ice cream you will ever taste in your life. They surprise you with new flavors every now and then but my 3 most favorite and their staples that I have to have when I see it are Banana pudding, pistachio and Black raspberry.. if you’re in town you MUST stop here! All workers are so friendly and they let you taste all flavors if you want. Great value!!!

Without a doubt… Brown Dog One Cream has the “bestest” I’ve-cream anywhere! It’s worth the wait when multiple people wait out in the street on a hot day… worth every minute when you eat the deliciousness to come. It’s not mass produced. The teammates who work there care. This plane epitomizes small town small business Americana at its best!!

A Scoop of Pure Bliss: Brown Dog Ice Cream is Unforgettable! Brown Dog Ice Cream isn't just ice cream; it's an experience, and one that absolutely deserves five stars! From the moment you step up to their charming window, you know you're in for something special. The aroma of fresh waffle cones (made right there!) is intoxicating, and the friendly faces ready to serve you only add to the welcoming atmosphere. But let's talk about the ice cream itself – it's divine. Each flavor is a masterpiece, crafted with obvious care and using high-quality ingredients that truly shine through. Their rotating selection keeps things exciting, ensuring there's always something new and delicious to try, but their classics are equally perfect. Whether you're a fan of rich, creamy chocolates, vibrant fruit sorbets, or unique, inventive combinations, Brown Dog nails it every time. The texture is consistently smooth and velvety, never icy, and the flavors are incredibly well-balanced – never too sweet, just perfectly satisfying. I've tried numerous flavors, and honestly, I haven't found a single one that disappointed. The passion and dedication of the team behind Brown Dog Ice Cream are evident in every scoop. It's clear they love what they do, and that love translates into truly exceptional ice cream. If you're anywhere near this delightful establishment, do yourself a favor and stop by. It's the kind of place that makes you smile with every spoonful and leaves you planning your next visit before you've even finished your current cone. Brown Dog Ice Cream is a true gem and an absolute must-visit for any ice cream lover!

We just got back from our vacation in Cape Charles and I have to say we really enjoyed eating ice cream almost every day we were there. It was fun to eat ice cream after watching the sunset. Can’t wait to come back and try some more flavors. The Dirty Mae was incredible and the Beet, Goat Cheese Pistachio something was even better!! The proof is in the picture. Someone else posted this picture and my Honda Pilot is in the reflection!! LOL

Don't be scared of the longer lines, believe the hype! Great vibe and great ice cream. You can tell it's made with love 🫶🏼 I got the all mixed up which was vanilla bean ice cream with crushed chocolate covered pretzels. Delish!
Casey N — Google review
Really cute spot in Cape Charles! I love the whole vibe that the place gives off with it's wacky/unique flavors and A+ workers. The price, in my opinion, is really good for the amount of ice cream that you get and the fact that it's really close to the beach. I got one scoop of the Raspberry Goat Cheese Pistachio ice cream in a cup for $3.75 (I'm pretty sure there's more to the name, but I forgot it). We also got a scoop of their chocolate and coffee icecream with a sugar cone. I personally thought that the chocolate icecream was absolutely amazing. The coffee icecream was pretty strong for my taste, but you could definitely tell that it was made with good ingredients and fresh because I could both see and taste some coffee grounds in my icecream. If you drink coffee you should try it but I don't like coffee. The raspberry icecream flavor was good but there were many pieces of pistachios in it. I personally would've preferred if there were less pistachios because it was pretty kinda taking over the taste. Would definitely recommend going and I would also recommend getting only one scoop because one scoop was a lot for me.

Our first visit to Brown Dog Ice Cream and Cape Charles but certainly not our last. This quaint ice cream shop embodies a Hallmark small town main street vibe. The curb appeal...I dare you to walk in without patting the bronzed brown dog statue on his head and whispering under your breath, what a good boy! Walking in you're met with friendly faces, carefully curated photos of a beloved chocolate lab, no doubt the muse for this establishment, framed news accolades and a case of the best ice cream in the area. So many amazing and creative flavors to choose from. We could not pass up the Banana Cream Pudding ice cream. It lived up to the hype of its name, rich and creamy with chunks of crust and mushy banana pieces, it was excellent! The portions were generous, the atmosphere was laid back and relaxing with fun upbeat music and the best part of it all, it was affordable. Truly a not so hidden gem in Cape Charles and a must visit when here!

Deadrise Italian Kitchen is a cozy and casual restaurant known for its thin-crust pizzas, sub sandwiches, and a selection of beer, wine, and cocktails. Situated on Mason Avenue in a friendly neighborhood setting, this eatery prides itself on using the freshest seasonal ingredients to prepare everything from scratch. The organic pizza dough and marinara sauce are particularly popular among patrons. With its laid-back coastal atmosphere, it's the perfect place to unwind after a day at the beach.
Fantastic pizza! Thin, floppy, just enough grease, NY Style pizza. Exactly what I imagine when I think pizza. And they don't skimp on the pepperoni. Don't forget the breadsticks. Garlic, oil, and two types of cheese. Perfect. Can't comment on the atmosphere as I had a to-go order.

We explored Cape Charles and decided to eat here. We sat at an outside table by the window, right next to a windowsill that was disgustingly dirty and covered with dead bugs. The outdoor seating was very loud due to a vent nearby that had something stuck in it, causing a lot of noise. The service was friendly but very busy, they forgot our utensils and napkins, and it took a bit too long to get them. The pizza was okay. I expected a bit more, especially since the restaurant was full and busy, and the dough homemade. My cheese pizza crust tasted more like flatbread, and the calamari had more breading than actual calamari.

The PERFECT spot after hitting the beach. We've made it a point to come here (at least once) every trip to Cape Charles. The pizza is amazing and their dough is made in-house with organic flour. Loved the meatballs too! The waitstaff is excellent, friendly, and always take good care of us and our dog. Thanks again!! Can't wait to come back. PIZZA IS LIFE.

This gem in Cape Charles has some of the best white pizza I've ever had. The crust was thinking and delicious. I ordered the White Sale and was delighted to see that I could add additional items for a small fee. I had a Ceasar salad which was fresh and the dressing was just incredible. I also appreciated the smaller size croutons which complimented the Romaine. Our waitress was attentive and friendly and our food was served at appropriate intervals. I want to return for their fresh pasta which isn't served until 4 p.m.

We couldn’t be more thankful for Deadrise. My husband and I had our wedding on the Eastern Shore this October and unfortunately we had an issue with catering and found out moments before the ceremony. Within the time it took for our ceremony and photos (~1hr) Deadrise got 60 pizzas and salads done for our wedding of 100 people. The food was delicious and we’d recommend them to everyone. They saved the day and were amazing. What a wonderful place and group of people that work there! We will be back to dine in soon. We are so thankful for Deadrise!

One word - amazing! I loved everything about this place and can’t wait to go back. I got an almond croissant and coconut smith cake and both were phenomenal. This place is amazing! Me and my girlfriends went here every day on our weekend trip. The coffee, quiche, donuts, and danish were amazing (just to name a few). And the service was excellent. The lady ringing us up (who I would assume is the owner) was extremely friendly and personable. I can’t wait to come back here and try the lunch foods!
Samantha L — Google review
We have the privilege of living locally and frequenting Coastal Baking Co. on the regular, but sometimes we are still surprised in the most delightful way! Despite it being a busy, busy Memorial Day weekend, when I stopped by to pick up a pie I’d ordered, Nicholas was behind the counter cheerfully waiting on a line of customers (he’s a national treasure!). My turn and I was rung up and on my way with not just my pie, but my favorite blueberry cream cheese pastries. Now, can we talk about that pie? Cassie roasted those beautiful local strawberries until they were a luscious, deeply intense, jammy filling of springtime joy. It was heaven on a plate. Berry, berry delicious filling. If you find yourself in Cape Charles, go over to see Cassie and crew at Coastal Baking Co. from breakfast biscuits to muffins, Indian dishes and massive sandwiches, you can’t go wrong. Grab an outside table or take it to the beach. Heck, take it home and eat it, but don’t miss the opportunity for some great cooking and even greater hospitality!

Oh man, what can I say about this place?? Cassie and crew deliver the GOODS!! Everything homemade and amazing! The curried chicken sandwich is the best thing I’ve eaten in Cape Charles! It’s always our first stop when we get here and our last stop on the way out!

Food is awesome here the service was not. I witness the lady behind the counter. Treat several other customers with respect and asked if they wanted their food here to go or if they needed any utensils or napkins. when it was my turn to order she stared at me.i also had the correct amount of money in my hand cash. She looked at it. I counted it out in front of her and told me I didn't. So I pulled out my card and then she told me it's finicky but everybody else who paid with card she didn't mention that to them. Didn't ask me if I needed anything else if I was going to eat it here or to go or ask me anything. When my food was ready as I witness her actually hand the food to other people. She set my food down shoved utensils and napkins, sticking out of the box and then walked away. She didn't even set it on the counter by the register. She said it it on a ledge by the kitchen. Upon leaving I walked back inside to throw away trash. She stopped mid-conversation and asked me did I need anything. Let's be honest she didn't like the way I looked. She did not place my food on the counter. She placed it on the little wooden ledge closest to the kitchen for this away from the register.

Great service! Our waitress was very nice and fast. Tim came out into the dining room to help. My fried chicken wings were delicious! The next best thing to house chicken! My husband's chicken sandwich left a bit to be desired though. We thought it'd be a breast filet but it was 2 chicken fingers in a bun. But overall, very good and I'd definitely go back.

We made a day trip to Cape Charles today and visited a few local places. Tim’s Place was pretty crowded. Our server was new but great overall. She did forget part of my order and added chili to the nachos when I said no thanks to chili (she quickly corrected the issue), but my daughter and friend both got the Bacon Cheddar Cheesesteak and enjoyed it. The serving was huge and they both had leftovers to bring home. We would definitely recommend this location even with the few hiccups we had.

We dined here June 21,2021. I try to review every new restaurant that we dine at.I haven't ever been so let down from a seafood restaurant. This review is taking in consideration staffing shortages because every restaurant in the United States is hurting. When you think Chesapeake Bay you automatically think seafood. This small community is amazing. When we entered there was 3 tables that had customers in the entire restaurant. When we tried to order they were out of slaw, only had 1 soft shell crab, were out of oysters. My daughter and her boyfriend both asked for grilled scallops. Our food came out well over 30 minutes after we ordered. Our plates had sides meant to go on each other's plate. My onion rings were drenched in oil and soggy. My daughters and her boyfriends came with fried scallops instead of grilled. The waitress was very rude and made sure to make it clear that they were both wrong and they didn't asked for grilled but she would fix it anyways. They brought out what looked to be pan seared scallops to fix theirs except they were gritty like they been dragged through the sand.He had to go to the bathroom to spit it out. The rest of our food was very sub par at best. The fish tasted like it was prebreaded frozen. Our bill was $117 and we left over half our food on the table. We are from the mountains of North Carolina and every single one of our seafood restaurants would put this place to shame. I'm not sure if it recently became this bad or if this is due to staffing issues. I would definitely go elsewhere if you are wanting seafood. I read other reviews saying their fried chicken was good so maybe we ordered the wrong items. 1 star is due to poor customer service, poor quality of food, and the speed of service in an empty restaurant.( And they were not busy with take outs like most restaurants. Most of the staff were lounging around the new bar area just sitting down)

The fried chicken is really good! The staff is pleasant and prompt. They were getting ready for the Valentine's day customers so they were busy but still attentive and always had a smile. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable.

Perfect sweet treat for a beautiful day! Just the right amount of flavor and the shaved ice is fine and melts at the touch of your lips. Shaved ice flavors were grand and the shaved ice was served in eco-friendly containers... what more can you ask for!?

Charming, no frills shed serving shaved ice. It was relatively cheap and they had plenty of flavors. It was easy to mix and match different flavor combinations. Everything tasted phenomenal. Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area

Having lived in Hawaii for over 10 years, it was such a treat to have this delicious shave ice in my new home state. There are so many fun flavors and great vibe in the space. Me and the kids enjoyed cooling down with our shave ice at the picnic tables on a hot summer day.

Peach Beach Shave Ice Shack is *the* spot on a hot summer day. Lots of flavors, regular and diet options, and plentiful portions. Take some time away from the Cape Charles beach, walk to Peach street and get yourself a cup of heavenly goodness! :)

The ice was so fluffy it was like snow, and the flavoring didn’t taste too sugary or artificial. Best shaved ice ever!!

Dont judge by the size of the shack...their shaved ice is packed with flavor. I personally love the passion fruit flavor. The staff is super friendly and the inside of this shack is the cutest! We stopped by on our way to the beach...it was a nice little treat while walking in the heat.

Buskey Cider on the Bay is a must-visit spot in Cape Charles, offering a delightful escape from the bustling downtown area. Situated within the picturesque Bay Creek planned community and resort, this cidery boasts a cozy tasting room and a sprawling patio with picnic tables, providing an ideal setting to enjoy their seasonal flavors like watermelon rosemary and pina colada.
We get excited to go to Cape Charles every year, and one of our most favorite places to visit is they cidery. Great flavors, really nice staff and this time we got to meet Pat, she was working on her very first day! She was friendly, helpful, energetic with big smile. The ambiance is nice and they have great games to have a great time with family and friends while drinking their amazing ciders. If you can’t get there and you live somewhere far, make sure to ask about their delivery service or check it out on their website. We live in Northern VA and they deliver there for $5 only!
Sam N — Google review
We had a great experience at this bright, clean location. The super friendly and enthusiastic staff offered to let us taste ciders on tap. Too bad we had run out of time that day to stay for a charcuterie board and a drink. Instead, we opted for a couple of 6 packs of our favorite flavors.

If you go to Cape Charles and do not stop by Buskey on the bay you are missing a great place with amazing cider and service. You won’t regret supporting this Virginia owned Cidery that uses Virginia apples only!! Thank you Buskey for your Cider and Bay location. Gratefully, Lee and Cheryl Barbrey

Located on Peach Street, near Salt and Sand Family Restaurant, AJs Bar & Grill offers a variety of delectable dishes such as shrimp quesadilla, grilled pork ribeye, pasta, smash burgers, and waffles. They also serve a delightful soup of the day. From the moment you enter the establishment, everything is excellent - from the warm welcome to their ability to accommodate large strollers. The service is exceptional and the drinks are top-notch.
The best hamburger I’ve ever had in my life and that covers a lot of burgers. The fries were also delicious, as was the homemade ranch and burger sauce. It was an amazing lunch. If you are in Cape Charles, this place is a must.

Went here for Mother's Day dinner. Had a wonderful local waitress who was very attentive and nice. The food came out promptly and it was very good. We got 2 of the specials of the day and a smash burger. All of it was very fresh and delicious.

Without any idea of what this place was I just opened the door and walked in. It was a relatively busy evening on a Saturday night, the bar was full and so were most of the tables. The hostess was so kind to find two seats for me and my fiancé although we didn’t have reservations. We were shown an upstairs seating area overlooking the bar. A very kind and humorous server approached us with full knowledge of all the beers on tap. We didn’t eat anything only had beer. But, the service was incredible and everyone was accommodating. We will definitely come back for a meal sometime.

Amazing food! Staff shared that everything on the menu has to be tested for 3 months by customers with good feedback to stay on. Kind, friendly and caring servers. Enjoyed sitting at the railing upstairs while listening to lovely jazz music gently in the background. Highly recommend!

A must visit restaurant in Cape Charles - welcoming to families of all ages (2 years through 70), food was delish, prices are reasonable, people are friendly, bar drinks are made well, strawberry lemonade was refreshing. Ok, where to begin on our lovey trip to AJs...the staff from beginning to end were super friendly, accommodating, personable, and efficient. It is a cute pub atmosphere with a great bar. The drinks were made very well - no skimping, well mixed! The food, yum: the burger was great, wings were full of meat and nice flavor, veggies were nicely seasoned, sandwiches were very tasty, and kids meals were same quality. Great ingredients and comfort food style. Would recommend and definitely visit again!

Delicious 🤤 can’t wait to eat here again! I got the Tuna poke bowl, so fresh, delicious flavors. It was perfection. Highly recommend!

This place is a hidden gem off of Mason Ave. I had the tofu Asian Noodle Bowl with their Thai Peanut Dressing. The tofu was a great texture and properly marinated (!!!) and the serving portion was generous. The dressing was full of flavor and the veggies were really fresh. In a small beach town vegan and vegetarian food can be hard to come by - having a meal that was balanced, thoughtful, seasoned, and filling was so appreciated. They have a lot of variety here for all kinds of eaters and you can tell take pride in the quality of their food.

Family couldn’t get a good photo of my dish because I was too busy eating it! The Poké bowl with tuna and the spicy mayo was so tasty! There is enough tuna to rice and veggies ratio where I had some leftover.🤤 10/10 recommend! Next time coming back to try a sandwich!

This spot was highly recommended to me by my boss while in town - she lives nearby. I love the menu and salads and sandwiches. I got a hummus and pressed panini sandwich that was SO good. They have a lot of healthier options if that is what you're looking for in town. They have a number of items in the cooler you can order and take with you - think burrata with olive oil and balsamic, some puff pastries, etc. Staff are wonderful - they experiment with food like it's art (hence the name) so there is always something new to see. They have a small dine-in area off to the side where you can sit, or you can get it to go like most of the other areas in town so you can take it to the beach.
Alison M — Google review
Got a poke bowl and salad. Everything in both was super fresh, tasted great, and there were both indoor and outdoor seating options. So glad we came here instead of the all grey/fried seafood place at the marina!
Kirk R — Google review
A hidden bakery/restaurant off of Mason Ave (main street) Wife and I have only been getting the poke bowls. We love sushi, what can I say. But a place on the ESVA for something close to sushi and tastes fresh? A nice little place to visit! Pricey/small menu, but you are paying for quality food. Seating: only has one long table located in room across from the counter with some kitchen retail items. If you like poke, this place has, what I felt was better quality raw tuna than some of the poke places across the bay.
Jrod3211 — Google review
Outstanding! Our food was beautiful to look at and even more delicious to eat. We're already looking forward to our next meal at this stellar spot. Highly recommend!
Sarah L — Google review
I came here today and must admit I was already exhausted due to the consequences of contracting ghost AIDS (check last review) but the atmosphere of the place is really nice. Also it’s so cute and has all these nice aesthetic takes on the decor. Like in the men’s bathroom I couldn’t help but notice there was a small hole drilled in between two of the stalls, and my, was it glorious. I thought it was a button at first but I think it might just be where a cat or dog stays in the place because as soon as I stuck my fingers through the hole I had mistaken for a button I could feel something licking me I just couldn’t quite make sure what it was. Whatever it was had hair so short it honestly just felt like somebody’s mustache but that’s okay. By the time I pulled my hand back it was drenched in saliva. It was kind of fun interacting with bathroom cat so I just kept jamming my fingers and a few other body parts through the hole to get licked on. I will definitely be coming back and will definitely be using this bathroom more often. I just hope cats can’t get ghost aids or regular herps.

Cape Charles Distillery is a homage to the rich history and natural beauty of Virginia's eastern shore. They are dedicated to using locally sourced ingredients and pure spring water to craft their spirits, capturing the essence of the region. The distillery offers a wide range of cocktails and bottles for purchase, including popular choices like apple pie moonshine and blackberry moonshine. Visitors can also enjoy outdoor seating with their furry friends while sipping on handcrafted drinks.
We LOVE The Cape Charles Distillery! Over the years in their previous location we always made sure that we made it as part of every trip to Cape Charles, and we wouldn't have imagined that they could have improved. Well I stand corrected! The Cape Charles Distillery is now in the old hardware store building and I couldn't believe it when I walked in! They did an amazing job of refurbishing a historical building and I just love the atmosphere. This is a must-see whether you dine on the main floor, relax at the second floor bar or lounge area or head up to the third floor roof top lounge which overlooks Cape Charles and the harbor. It is definitely worth adding to your things you must do in Cape Charles! And the food? Amazing! Tip: Try the baked oysters and the steak and eggs for brunch! Make sure you say hi to Sandra! Tell her Missy sent ya 😎😉 she'll be there to greet ya!

Beautiful building, but it was disappointing that they could not serve/sell their distilled spirits (they are waiting an updated liquor license after moving from across the street). In the meantime all their cocktails are call spirits. The cocktails range from $18-$20.

Sting-Ray's Restaurant is a hidden gem nestled within a highway rest area, offering delightful Southern cuisine and seafood from breakfast through dinner. This unpretentious spot may catch you off guard with its charm and flavor. The catfish here is legendary—crispy and mouthwatering, whether in a sandwich or as part of the generous platter served with an array of sides like lima beans and mac & cheese.
BEST CORNBREAD OF MY LIFE. Staff is super nice and very honest about their best food and with Cracker Barrel vibes this is a mandatory stop on the eastern shore from now on!
Brett G — Google review
We stopped for a quick bite to eat around noon on a Sunday. What a disappointment. As we were trying to place our order, it appeared the staff behind the counter was getting fussed at publicly by another staff member. Definitely tense and bad energy. We ordered 2 grilled chicken sandwiches with fries. Our buddy ordered a burger combo. Our buddy got his burger about 15 mins after ordering (according to the time stamp on the receipt.) At 23 mins after ordering (and them serving 8 other people who ordered after us their food), I went to the counter and asked how much longer ours would be. I was told we ordered grilled chicken, and it was a thick piece of meat and took longer to cook. I then got a lecture from the server with an attitude, on food prep and cook times. Having worked in numerous restaurants over the years, I'm confident you don't serve meals 15 mins apart to the same table. At 28 mins after ordering, we got our grilled chicken & fries. Both were TINY, dry and tough. You can see in the photo how small the chicken is compared to the normal bun size. Our buddy only ate 1/4 of his burger and said it was dry and tough. Definitely not the place to go for decent or good food with unfriendly service and certainly not the place to go if you are in a hurry. What a disappointment.

We haven’t been here in ages and decided to stop for lunch as we were passing through. We were early for lunch so they weren’t busy when we arrived but they were busy by the time we left. We had fish and chips, salad with grilled chicken, and soup and grilled cheese. Lunch was very good. Salad was plentiful and fresh, bean soup was delicious. My sister did say the “chips” weren’t very crisp. They have a really nice gift shop that we had a little time to walk through.

It was great to visit one of the local favorites. A lot of varieties on the menu. Everyone was very nice and the food was good.

You wouldn't expect much from this little unassuming rural gas station restaurant. You'd be wrong. Do yourself a favor and stop here. The perfectly crispy catfish is TO DIE FOR!!! The catfish sandwich is excellent with a hearty helping of French fries. The catfish platter is even better. Very large portions with an array of sides to choose from. The lima beans and mac & cheese are excellent. Their menu is reasonably priced and service is quick, even though it's often crowded. There is also a cute little gift shop attached. Stop and get yourself some catfish and souvenirs. They have a variety of different fish on their lunch menu but the catfish is my recommendation.

My husband and I stopped here for breakfast. I took a chance on the grits. I am picky with my grits. They are fabulous!!! They are buttery and creamy! Don't ruin them by adding any salt. Wow were they good. My husband had pancakes and added some country ham. It was a whole slab of ham! He ate it with his eyes closed! Thank you Stingrays for a great start to a weekend away!

What a gem! This restaurant was packed with what seemed to be a mix of locals and travelers. Stumbled upon sting-rays on our long ride home. We grabbed our food to go and decided to eat outside. This was a pretty good lil spot. Traveling south from Jersey to Newport News and decided to take a lil rest for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The staff were super friendly and the locals were too. The food was, okay. Fish was good, but thin. Macaroni and cheese was cheesy but not much flavor. The cabbage was delicious, but also very mushy. The cornbread…oh so good! The Jackspot at Sunset Beach is a vibrant seaside eatery that truly captures the essence of a tropical getaway. Accessible by boat from Virginia Beach, this charming spot offers an inviting atmosphere with colorful decor and stunning ocean views, especially during sunset. The menu features delightful options like fish platters, burgers, and refreshing drinks crafted by the Gourmet Gang, who have introduced unique dishes distinct from their regular offerings. Guests rave about the friendly service and live entertainment that enhances the dining experience.
This review is based on the outside appearance and location. Open hours are currently very limited. Thurs- Saturday. The location is the bomb!!! Feels like being at the Caribbean! The tropical appearance overlooking the ocean is spectacular, especially at sunset. Steps are leading to a private beach. Next to the restaurant is a gazebo with big hammocks for anybody to use. Can't wait to enjoy some outdoor dining next time I visit.

Great location. 3 of us got the crab boil. They were out of clams but substituted for extra shrimp. Not the 5 star rating BUT can't beat the location and vibe eating while the sunsets. If you are hanging at the beach or campground and need a meal while you set up camp. My daughter got tacos which were cutesy and pinned together with a small clothes pin and she loved them. I would go again for sure. The staff were all very friendly.

Visited in late October right before Halloween weekend. Only open Thursday - Sunday this late in the season. The hours were posted on their restaurant door. They also open at 4PM, so only for dinner. We placed our order online and selected a time for pick up. Not sure if you could order in person or not but there were people eating in the outdoor areas overlooking the water. Great and very picturesque for sunsets. We ordered the calamari (amazing with the lemon pepper aioli sauce and kids all loved it), onion rings (the banana pepper aioli was the best and wish we had asked for more), garlic pharm fries (with a lot of garlic and very surprised my kids liked it as much as they did) and popcorn shrimp (lightly battered smaller size shrimp but NOT the cheap super breaded kind and came with lemon pepper aioli as well). We also got mocktails for the kids to try, pina colada (which was the kids favorite), strawberry daiquiri (kids said it tasted like Costco's berry smoothie) and margarita (which everyone agreed was meh). Later that evening we decided we also needed to try the miami vice mocktail (half pina colada and half strawberry daiquiri and this time it came with a slice of pineapple in it and a cherry on top. It was fantastic. Would definitely go back and eat there again. Hopefully on the deck/porch area during sunset. We just did not feel comfortable with so many people wandering around and it was fairly windy. There were physical distancing signs all over the place but not sure if the patrons were following all the rules. There was one waitress who was helping customers outside and no one was allowed into the restaurant.
David L — Google review
Great place to eat, right on the beach! Music playing and the wind right off the bay. There are three or four tables inside. Outside they've got a dozen or so picnic tables with waiters/waitresses. Definitely a fair weather place to eat and not for a rainy or cold day unless you're taking it away (there is a bustling pick up service for the campers and sunbathers.) When we first came off the highway, we thought we were in the wrong place, because you drive into an RV resort/ campground behind a hotel, all the way down to the beach parking (free to park). Menu is limited to about a dozen sandwiches, tacos, and a couple of salads, but practice makes perfect. Fries are crisp and every sandwich comes with a lightly charred, buttered, ear of corn. Sandwiches are served on a brioche bun with a good sized portion of fried shrimp, crab cake or grilled chicken, etc. Our calamari and my shrimp po' boy were fried with a light batter and done to order....Not greasy or soggy. The crab cake was loaded with meat. Drinks weren't expensive, especially considering this is a resort on the water.
Peter T — Google review
We came here expecting average bar fare and a nice view, and that is exactly what we received. Food and drinks are slightly overpriced for what they are, but there’s no denying the view here is great. No problems with customer service. The calamari wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but far from the worst as well. It tasted fresh, no freezer burn, and fried to perfection. The cornhole boards outside are a nice touch, but the bags were in such bad condition that we were not able to play. Overall, no major complaints, but there’s room for improvement.
Ryan C — Google review
Wow! What a piece of paradise. Especially when traveling by boat from VB. We totally felt like we were on vacation somewhere tropical. Awesome service, food and drinks. The Gourmet Gang took over the food and has a good small menu that’s different then their regular menu on the other side of the water. Seafood included! They must of renovated this place because it is adorable. Live music was a plus too! Definitely stop by if you’re boating! We can’t wait to go back. Do I sound like I love it?!?

If you find yourself in Northampton County, make sure to stop by Gerry's Ristorante for a delightful pizza experience that will leave your taste buds dancing. This charming spot offers an array of delicious pizzas reminiscent of the best Little Italy establishments in Manhattan and Philadelphia, all without the hassle of a long drive. The Hawaiian pizza is particularly noteworthy, bursting with flavor and freshness.
Great, fresh made pizza with interesting choices for toppings. Outdoor dining, some covered, corn hole.

Margarita and pepperoni pizzas are good, nor crispy crust on ours like we wanted, but good flavors. Service was polite. Indoor dining is closed at the moment. Take out only. Probably not enough employees to serve tables. Only pizza place in the Cheriton area. They were growing their own basil. One of the locals recommended the meatball subs.
Bill H — Google review
Excellent pizza offerings, taste is exceptional. The type of pizza found in the best Little Italy shops of Manhattan and Philadelphia; better than and without the drive. Most people understand they are buying a pizza, not paying for ambiance. Though, I have found the shop to be clean and attended to. We should count our blessings, in having an authentic pizza and sub shop, right here in Northampton County.

I usually enjoy their pizza but I stopped by there yesterday when they first opened and ordered 2 slices and a drink. Almost 10 dollars witch seems a little much. So I receive my order and head on down the road. Then I look at my 2 slices of pizza that I thought I had to let cool and it's leftovers from the night before and has a few pieces of fresh sprinkles of mozzarella on it. The pizza was cold and tasted horrible. Didn't even finish the the first slices and threw it away. You have definitely lost a costumer.

Have been driving from Malta at least once a week since Gerry opened. Everything we have ever gotten there has been great. Thanks for bringing some awesome pizza to the shore. This is an addition to the above review and about 6 months later. We like Laura said in her review travel a long distance for what has always been awesome. This past weekend we were craving pizza so we took that long ride only to be extremely disappointed. I don't know who made the two pizzas we bought, but I am sure it wasn't Gerry. Who ever did make them needs to get a different job because they are going to put Gerry out of business.

The Philly cheese steak pizza was really good. And the garlic knots were delicious. The lady that was running the front was really nice. They only offer take out but did allow us to use the picnic tables on the porch.

Apparently this place has changed hands owners or whatever. We are locals live here year around. We have patronized Gerry’s for as long as they have been in business here. Always had great pizza. Just ordered a sausage pizza from what’s called Froggys now and let me tell you it was terrible. Would have been better off going to Food Lion and getting one of their pizzas. Bye last stop there.

The customer service at this particular Hardee's location has always been wonderful and consistent! The staff are very helpful and friendly! The A.M. & P.M. food is always hot and fresh!!! We look forward to getting our fried chicken on our way back to Richmond every time we come here! ☺️☺️☺️☺️

I'm not from the area, and Hardee's isn’t available where I’m from, so trying it here was a new and interesting experience for me. Unfortunately, the attitude of the supervisor or manager was quite unpleasant. I greeted her with a smile, but she responded with what felt like annoyance. I ordered two chicken wrap meals, which took about 15 minutes to prepare. When I politely asked for a lid for my cup, since there were none available at the station. She just stared at me, again making me feel like I was a bother. The chicken wraps themselves were good, but I wouldn’t return to this location simply to avoid that kind of treatment.

Manager was extremely rude when they got our order wrong. Went in to get it corrected and when the cashier asked if they should just let us keep the mistaken items as well she said "Hell no. Throw it in the trash." I don't care about the mistake, or not getting 'free food'. I'm just sick and tired of companies throwing out perfectly good food just because they couldn't make a buck on it.

I ordered a 2 piece chicken tender kids meal with extra fries to replace the applesauce and guess what they did, they gave me 3 bags of fries and no chicken tenders. 0 CHICKEN TENDERS. They did give me my barbecue sauce for the chicken tenders I did not recive.

This place all around sucks at running a business well. We went through the drive through and we're waiting a decent while. No hold on give me a second, no apologies. I said hello? And then he finally said hold on.. He went to take our order didn't listen to anything we said. This place seems like a complete disaster. Everything we tried to order was out. Terrible service. I will never be back here or any Hardee's for that matter. Fast food sucks. Not like it used to be Too young of kids who have no drive work here. They don't care. We went to McDonald's and got a lot better service. Id definitely go to McDonald's than here. McDonald's has it together.

Went through Drive Thru and it was late. 8:30pm. Fries were not edible. Very dried out, hatd, no salt. Sandwiches were hot. Big Ham & Cheese, was good. Double cheeseburger was very greasy. Given it was late, food was probably sitting. Was disappointed but would try again. Employees were very pleasant.
Jerseypiney G — Google review
Food was great, I will give you that. However, the service was less than exceptional. It took over 40 minutes to receive our order, which for a fast food establishment is appalling. The women's bathroom was falling apart. The sink faucet was busted to the point where you would turn the water on and the entire thing would almost come off. One of the toilets was loaded with fecal matter and urine. The floors in the restaurant were so sticky, every step taken resulted in getting stuck. Upon receiving our food, stuff was forgotten and left out like sauces and two tenders for a 5 piece and the French fry bag had approximately 10 fries. Extremely disappointing.

Food was really good, it looked like TV food, not a sloppy mess. Everything was fresh. Service was slow but we know, it's Hardee's. Mgr made up for it by being an entertaining guy while we waited. Good dude

Nestled at 6 Peach St, Salt and Sand Family Restaurant is a cherished gem that captures the essence of family dining. This family-owned establishment prides itself on its inviting atmosphere, perfect for both dine-in experiences and takeout meals. While they don’t offer delivery, patrons can indulge in their delectable seafood dishes either within the cozy confines of the restaurant or from home.
We were seated right away on a sunny saturday afternoon by super friendly staff. The food was perfectly cooked with simple and straightforward flavors. You cant beat their prices either. Highly recommend.

My husband and I enjoyed an early dinner on a Saturday. Our waitress was so friendly. Our dinners were delicious. The crab cakes were wonderful. The coleslaw was so fresh. Sweet potato fries were very tasty. My husband had the special of flounder which was lightly breaded and really good. The atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly. We will definitely be back!

Walked in with a 19 person group including 3 toddlers. Sat down immediately after everything else was packed to the brim and it didn’t disappoint. The waitress was very attentive, no drink emptied without a refill immediately coming. Food came out hot and tasted amazing. Between all of us we ordered half the menu and not a complaint in sight. If you’re in a pinch stop in!

This is an amazing restaurant to go eat. Only issue we had, and it's really not a complaint, was they were very busy when we arrived. So we seated ourselves and got our own menus. But, there was only a few folks waiting tables, but doing an amazing job. Everyone in my party said the food was amazing. They had lima beans and pickled beets as sides. Both were great. The Flounder I had was perfectly cooked and lightly breaded. Melted in my mouth! Nothing was was over or under seasoned. The hush puppies were on point! If your in Cape Charles for day visit, weekend get away, do not miss having a lunch or dinner at this gem of a family restaurant!

We are a family of 19 on vacation in Cape Charles and decided last minute to go to dinner after being on the beach all day. They were super friendly and accommodated us right away, quickly rearranging tables and chairs. The service was fantastic and the food was fresh, hot and delicious. We had everything from fried chicken to crab cakes and smothered chicken. Very unassuming little restaurant that delivered big flavor!

Visited this restaurant on last Sunday evening in my goodness the food was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! 10 OUT OF 10, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! The atmosphere was wonderful, being seated the time it took to get your food... I mean everything was glorious! And as awesome as the food was, it did not top the service that we received from a lady named Hunter Bishop! She was incredible!! Thank you Salt and Sand!!!

My guests were pleased! Family restaurant atmosphere. Staff friendly and accommodating. Enjoyed the Catch of the Day...Sea Trout (~3 filets) --fresh tasting, but only available fried. My sides were Greens... tender and seasoned nicely; and Mashed potatoes with gravy...also good. I would return to enjoy the fresh fish.

Decided to try this place while in Cape Charles and was very pleased. Lots of different menu items....salads, sandwiches, burgers. I went with the cheeseburger and sweet potato waffle fries. Cooked to order and one of the best burgers I've eaten. Friend had a huge salad. All very fresh and homemade. Next time try this place when you are looking for friendly place with great food.

Chinese restaurant
Top China is a delightful Chinese-American restaurant that has been serving the community for years, offering reliable and tasty takeout options. Located in a small town with limited competition, it stands out by consistently delivering delicious meals that satisfy cravings for classic Chinese cuisine. Diners appreciate the quick service and generous portions, making it an ideal choice for those seeking convenience without compromising on flavor. While some may find the atmosphere a bit impersonal and miss lunch specials, many patrons rave about standout dishes like sesame chicken.
It was very good The food was amazing. We had number 23, which is Sesame chicken and it is delicious. I would recommend to anyone who is in this area.
Yuliya K — Google review
If allergic to MSG avoid this place! Many experience headaches, fatigue after consuming food prepared with Mono-sodium Glutamate. Top China uses it heavily in their preparations. Food is intermittently good, since closure during COVID, quality has deteriorated. Perhaps easier for them to be exclusively “take out.” One might think elevating courtesy, an atmosphere where attempting to communicate in even some form of broken English, would go a long way in enticing a loyal customer base.

This was the best Chinese food I've had in a long time. We will definitely be back!

The food is okay compared to others. My problem tonight was the cleanliness when I walked through the door and the daughter of the owner rolling her eyes when I could not understand what she said. I just said the forget it I will go where someone appreciates my business.

Top China is a Chinese-American Restaurant that excels at providing exactly what you're looking for. Despite a lack of other rival restaurants that offer similar cuisine, (it's a small town, of course) they continue to provide fantastic food for their patrons. I've had similar food from various areas all over the country but what I can say, is that Top China provides consistent results. In a world that changes their ingredients to suit rising costs, sometimes the food just doesn't taste the way it "used to." You won't find that here. Everytime I order my favorites, it's exactly as good as before. Of course, their prices have risen over the years, but what restaurant hasn't fallen subject to the same? Despite that, my family and I can always rely on Top China to provide great food that we know we'll be more than happy with.
Drew T — Google review
I truly don't know why this place is getting a bad review. It is Chinese take out...it tastes like any other Chinese take out place. The food is good (again, it's take out, not a New York bistro, so you can't expect it to be more than that), the service is quick, and I've NEVER had them mess up an order. I've been going there about ten years or so (judging by how much the owners' daughters have grown up since I started going when they first opened). Recommended for quick and easy TAKE OUT.
Erin H — Google review
Very good food. A little impersonal, but pretty much a normal Chinese spot but they did away with the lunch specials. I dont recommend nor like that fact. Prices are pretty regular of most chinease take out. Food is above average of the normal take out in this category.

If you're ever in the area, Small's Smokehouse is a must-visit! After a long drive from Pennsylvania, I stumbled upon this gem when other eateries were packed or closing early. Despite the bustling crowd, the hostess was incredibly welcoming and seated us promptly. The BBQ here is fantastic; I savored their brisket paired with a delightful house-made sauce that strikes the perfect balance of sweetness and heat. The sides of beans and cucumber salad were excellent companions to my meal.
Absolutely loved this restaurant! Service was great. No wait for a table. Food was delicious and didn't take long to receive after ordering. Loved that they offered daily specials. Overall great experience and definitely recommend. We can't wait to go back next time we're in the area.

Took over 30 minutes for a pick up order with only 3 people actually sitting down in the restaurant. We ordered two sandwiches and a Mac and cheese and hush puppies - a simple order for two people. I thought this would be a good place to pick up food and bring back since we are staying at KOA resort and sunset grill is currently closed but I didn’t know I’d be arriving back at my campsite almost and hour and a half later. Host asked the bartender to take my order but she couldn’t be bothered because she was busy hanging out with her friend at the bar. He walked me all around the restaurant but eventually took my order. The older man with glasses who took my order was very nice and funny and made good small talk but it just seemed like everyone else hated their job and couldn’t be bothered with another customer. We are on the shore for a memorial for close family and I didn’t expect to waste so much time waiting for food. If I knew it was gonna take so long and the staff attitude was gonna be so off putting, I would have just saved my money and got a bucket of fried chicken from royal farms. Also the Mac and cheese is just awful - SEVEN DOLLARS for a congealed mess not even macaroni noodles and for some reason there’s a slight jalapeño taste to the cheese? The coleslaw was warm and tasted old. The only thing that was decent was the meat and it’s so bland you have to load it up with sauce and salt and pepper. Just go somewhere else, we definitely will next time.

3 of us ate dinner and it was over 75 dollars which is ridiculous. We were a party of 8. The food wasn't that good, the server barely ever checked our drinks. Our food was all delivered separately so we couldn't even eat together. I ordered the brussel sprouts for 4 dollars. They were shredded and a small order. I ordered smoked wings and they were dry. At first I ordered a sweet tea it was sour like it sat out room temperature so day so I asked for a pink lemonade and never got a refill... Was here 2.5 hrs. Won't be back!
Tabitha B — Google review
Great food, fast service. BBQ is quite good. We tried the brisket and were not disappointed. House made sauce had just the right amount of sweet and heat. Beans and cucumber salad complemented the meal nicely. Crabcake sandwich was substantial, but a little dry. Upon my request, server quickly brought me a little ranch dressing and happiness abounded in my mouth. (That sounds a little dirty now that I read it, but don't take it that way 👍). After leaving the OBX and driving all morning, we used to stop at Hardee's, where the grossly incompetent staff would make us wait hours for stuff we didn't actually order ("I said extra pickles please, not just give me a cold burger on a dry bun with nothing else"). Torturous. SO HAPPY to have found Smalls as an alternative. Yay! Update. Came back a week later and tried the BBQ platter and also the Mac and Vheese with pulled pork. The latter was absolutely amazing. Tons of cheese with a hint of chili pepper seasoning. Really top shelf!
Adam S — Google review
Kids and I were looking forward to some good bbq and hopes were high but sadly weren’t met. First, the service was not that great or even mediocre. Our server was not very slow and uninterested in working it seemed and upon ordering several of the items they did not have like Pulled pork or brisket which would have been nice to know when we did get seated and then she stated only no Brisket so when she came back for the order and some of us wanted pulled pork she then told that was unavailable. How about we let customers know what’s not available at the same time. Throughout the dinner she made us feel unwelcome and when she did finally come back at the end of meal and we asked for a refill of drinks she did not add ice the cups and ice tea was warm. We were looking forward to pulled pork and brisket and while disappointed they were sold out it was thought food must be good if it sells out and that was unfortunately not the case. The nachos ordered came out and had about 10 chips in them and were cold but will say the best part of any food was the chicken in them. Secondly the hush puppies were fried way too long in dirty oil and were burnt so kids broke off the outside of them to eat the middle. One of ordered the burger which was so thin and obviously the cheapest frozen burger you could buy. Cheeseburger across the street at McDonald’s for $2 is far better and more meat. The sliced brisket was tough and chewy and the coleslaw was bland and had no flavor. The building itself and grounds were very nice but food and service awful and kids stated they should call Gordon Ramsey and get some help! Maybe it was a bad night here but for $108 we would Have got a much better meal at McDonald’s for a quarter of the price. Very disappointing.

What a great place in many ways! It was July 5th, and we had just driven about four hours from seeing family in PA. The deli down the road was closing early because they weren't getting any customers, and wouldn't serve us. The town was packed, lines were long, and we couldn't get in anywhere. On the way out, we saw Smalls BBQ and decided to give it a try. I am so glad we did! They were also very busy, but the hostess couldn't have been more accommodating. She seated us as soon as she could. We had a great meal and got back on the road to drive another two hours to get home. The food was delicious! I had the pork BBQ sandwich with potato salad and baked beans. Hubby had the brisket sandwich with the broccoli salad. We split an order of fries. We will definitely be back the next time we are in the area.

Don’t waste your time! Steamed shrimp was good, received our entrees. Brisket platter was basically jerky, and pulled pork sandwich. told the waitress the brisket didn’t look good and to give us a minute to try it, she never came back. and then 20 mins go back and we have to leave and i go let her know we’re ready for our check, the brisket was terrible and we didn’t want it. gives us the check with it still on the check. anyways she starts freaking out cursing saying she wasn’t taking it off. Very unprofessional. Absolutely won’t be returning. Waitress then followed us out to the parking lot. id steer clear if i were you

Littleneck Cafe is a delightful spot that promises an unforgettable dining experience. Known for its incredible food, particularly the standout fries, this cafe remains open until 9 PM, making it perfect for those late-night cravings or ice cream indulgences without having to venture far from your campsite. The friendly service and inviting atmosphere create a welcoming environment where you can relax and enjoy your meal.

Absolute garbage. Woman working the counter was miserable. Food took over an hour to come out and was all cold. Fried fish was mushy and cold. Pickle chips were dry and cold. Burger was greasy and cold. Oh and dirty tables everywhere. . If I could give less than 1 star I would. This place should go out of business. Shameful example of a restaurant.

Two other dinners at 7pm. All tables dirty, no one cleaned even one, even after watching us clean our own. Seafood has almost all been removed from menu, as well as everywhere on campground. 2 adults 2 kids $70+ for sandwiches and kids meals. We packed almost no food due to great experience in the past, big mistake not what u would expect on cost.

It’s a good place to stop by for eats. I had the cab dip with pita chips. It was luke warm and bland for crab dip. They could find an awesome Maryland crab dip recipe online; after all you’re located on the eastern shore. My hubby tried the crab cake sandwich. It was good. It was served warm as well. My daughter tried their chicken quesadilla. It was hot and very good, seasoned right. They serve ice cream as well. The tables were a little dirty and could use cleaning but it is a campground. I would recommend eating here your first day camping after a long day is setting up your campsite. Otherwise, just bring your own food or stop by the Food Lion ten minute down the road and stock up on better food.

If you're on the hunt for a dining experience that truly stands out, look no further than The Elephant & Octopus. This charming spot seamlessly blends historic charm with modern flair, retaining beloved elements from its predecessor while introducing an invigorated menu. The pub steak is a highlight, cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor, while the salmon poke offers a fresh twist that's hard to resist. Their drink selection is equally impressive; whether you prefer craft beers or expertly mixed cocktails, there's something for everyone.
This is a fantastic restaurant and bar on the main street of Cape Charles. Delicious food, great drinks, and wonderful service. Shoutout to Maddie on bar and Tony (our waiter) while my family and I enjoyed dinner. Highly recommend!

100% I would recommend this place for anybody. Anytime. Everytime, actually. Kaitlyn took great care of us and made excellent cocktail recommendations when we couldn't choose from the great selection, and both meals we chose (one menu, one special) were AMAZING. He had the salmon steak sandwich on a warm buttered potato roll, I had the lamb burger with fresh goat cheese spread. The fries are hot and crispy and just the right portion. It's quiet enough to chat, but lively enough to feel homey and comfortable, with an upscale pub vibe but very reasonable prices.

E&O retains the best aspects of the old and beloved Kelly's -- including the historic architecture, Irish menu items such as shepherd's pie, and Old Speckled Hen on tap -- while freshening and reinvigorating both the space and the menu. Prices seem slightly higher, but there is a larger staff as well as crowd of patrons, from what I've observed during three visits. Carter is a gentleman and a scholar. The live music on weekends is a nice addition. It's great to see the new business crushing it while also giving a nod to what was.

Absolutely stellar! The Elephant and the Octopus is a must-visit. I don't even know where to begin—this place is a gem. The food, the drinks, the atmosphere... everything was top-notch. I came in for dinner and was blown away by the pub steak; it was cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. My wife had the salmon poke, which was incredibly fresh and flavorful. And the drinks? Forget about it. They have a fantastic selection of beers and their cocktails are expertly crafted. The service was also excellent—our server was friendly, attentive, and had some great recommendations. The vibe is cozy and inviting, perfect for a casual dinner or a night out with friends. I'm already planning my next visit and can't wait to try more of their menu. If you're looking for a place with great food, drinks, and a wonderful atmosphere, this is it. Five stars all the way!

Wonderful place to eat with a bigger group of people, they were kind, accommodating and the sweet waitress kept checking up on us making sure we had everything we needed! I'd recommend this place for sure, I'm someone who normally doesn't eat fish because I hate when it doesn't taste fresh but here the fish and chips were fresh and fried to perfection! And my daughter who is the pickiest eater was gobbling down their chicken tenders! This place obviously seems new, so take it from someone who is just on vacation and is a big foodie, give this place a chance and you just may end finding your new favorite local spot. 😁

My family and a few friends ate here two nights during our recent visit. Food is pretty good depending on what you like. I had the fish and chips which was great, then the pub dip sandwich which was ok. Servers seemed like they wanted us to be out of there as soon as possible, checking up on us way to frequently, even asking us if we wanted the check when we had barely eaten any of our food.

Location, Location, Location, right on the beach with a great view of the bay and magical sunset views. Large patio areas and deck seating. Right on the beach, with lots of colorful table and chairs. Food was pretty good. We got pickle brine chicken fingers, smash burger, clam strips, coconut shrimp and some garlic wings. Everything was pretty happy with their food. Decent drink menu. Servers were friendly and kind of working as a team. Not sure if you can visit if not staying at the KOA, since its on property, but if you are you should stop in.

We ate there a few times while staying at the KOA in our RV. The location is perfect for watching the sunset, with stunning views. They offer live music or karaoke, which adds a fun touch. The staff was very friendly, and the food was good for a bar. Just note that they don’t offer refills on sodas or water.

We came in the middle of summer and the main area is only open Fri-Sun. Weird. The food is good. The crab cake sandwich is made with real crab meat and little filler. We also had the coconut shrimp which was good. The view is amazing. What isn’t great are the $10 crushes. I might be spoiled because I’m from Va Beach and they are always amazing. We tried the orange, grapefruit, and line crushes. They were 90% juice. The lime was basically line + soda water. Stick to beer if you drink here!

We were staying at the KOA and went here on opening night for the season, friday April 25th. The barstaff were fantastic, friendly, and informative. I had no idea that my tequila, lime, and seltzer was called ranch water, but now i know. They were experimenting with new food items, i quite enjoyed the macncheese bites served with a savory garlicky marinara sprinkled generously with parmesan cheese. And those jalapeño shrimp things were great! Hope to see you alll again, yours truely, 'Tequila Hands'

After driving all day to get from western New Jersey, down through Delaware, we were about to cross the huge bridge across the Chesapeake to get to Virginia Beach, and the family was getting Hangry. This was the last place I could find before we crossed and I'm so glad we took a risk on it. Rory entertained and engaged my three kids, and spent time explaining about cargo ships on the bay and made a delicious sunset punch. The food was excellent and the view is fantastic. This place is hidden in the back of the KOA, but if you're passing through it is well worth a stop, even if you're not staying at the campground. After a filling and delicious dinner and some fresh air, everyone enjoyed the rest of our drive so much more.

The pictures on gooogle make this place look like a beautiful beach bar with outdoor seating right on the water. Its not. Its is extremly hard to find and is in the back of a gross campground. We almost left but decided to try it before heading home. Its behind a large public pool. You can see the water but it's hard. Everyone was load and drunk in the middle of the day, found music from boats. Its a seat yourself and it was crowded and buggy. The food is not good either and service was bad. Just false advertising.

everything in here is delicious. Everything, but we especially like her yeast rolls and her danish grownuts. The prices are very reasonable and you can’t go wrong with all the options that they have available for sandwiches, quiche, breakfast, pastries, take out like chicken salad, and pimento cheese. Absolutely wonderful.

I love coming in here to browse. During summer in the mornings they have a large selections of quick grab-n-go items in their cooler such as sandwiches, pimento cheese, etc. to take to the beach. The theme is mostly drinks so they have lots of bitters and mix-ins to make bar drinks in the front part with some small decorative and collectible home goods as well as loads of books on how to make various alcoholic drinks. Very cute and the folks inside are always friendly.

It’s got that classic feel but with something extra that makes it unforgettable. Hands down the best thing I’ve eaten in Cape Charles. If you’re even a little curious, go get it.

A nice and easy grab and go spot with freshly made cold sandwhiches/salads. Staff are very friendly. Want to grab something quick and head to the beach? Or explore Mason Ave (main street)? Stop by and say hi to the lovely staff inside and browse their retail on the way out.

Love the quality ingredients. Grab and go sandwiches are one of the best I’ve ever had! Not too big, not too small. Bread was tasty.
