Bodies of Water
Venna Lake is a delightful recreational spot nestled in the picturesque Mahabaleshwar region of Maharashtra. This stunning lake offers an array of activities for visitors, including boat rentals that allow you to glide across its serene waters. For those seeking adventure on land, horseback rides are available, providing a unique way to explore the surrounding natural beauty. The area is also dotted with vibrant food stalls serving carnival-style treats, making it a perfect place to relax and indulge after a day of exploration.
Rates are little high for boating like 600/- for half an hour. Everything is costly here, all eatables, small games, etc. Good lake which provides drinking water to MAHABALESHWAR. Evening weather is good with fog for boating.

Beautiful lake of Mahableshwar, u can enjoy boating here, very nice views
Shashank G — Google review
Visited yesterday. This is one the best places in mahabaleshwar. Need to pay entry fees to start journey before this point. After this you need to pay 50/- for parking. Try to visit this place in evening to get a good view of sunset. You can take horse ride, boat ride, game shows, activity games and some tasty food items. Try to take horse ride with photoshoot. . Main market and mapro garden is near from this. Good place for spending time. Boating charge 600 for 4 person for 30min.
D B — Google review
Venna Lake is an ideal combination of nature, leisure, and light adventure, making it a must-see destination for families, couples, and solo visitors. There is no entry cost; you only pay for activities like as boats and rides. A tranquil lakeside surrounded by green hills, ideal for wandering, photography, and relaxing. Plenty of parking accessible near the entrance.
Merlin T — Google review
⭐ Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (2/5) Venna Lake, Panchgani is an average tourist spot — good for a one-time visit, but not something you’d want to return to. The lake itself looks nice from a distance, but it’s extremely crowded, especially on weekends. You often have to wait for hours just to get a boat ride, and the entrance area gets very chaotic. During the rainy season, the place becomes filthy and muddy, and the hygiene is below average. The nearby horse stand adds to the mess — the area is dirty and full of people constantly chasing you for rides. They charge around ₹200 for just 500 meters, which is absolutely not worth it. Parking is another headache — very congested and disorganized. Overall, this is just one of those places you visit once to tick it off your list, not for the experience itself.
Ambkumar — Google review
It is one of the most scenic attractions in Mahabaleshwar. Beautiful lake surrounded by hills. Great for boat rides while watching the sunset. We went during May end , so the evening breeze by the lake was so soothing. Gets extremely crowded during peak tourist season. There are ample parking spots, but due to the rush of tourists, it is very difficult to find a parking spot nearby. I have seen families walk a considerable distance from their parking area to reach the lake. It all depends upon whether you get a parking or not , if you have a driver, they may drop you at a distance. Apart from this, the lake vicinity has different activities like boat riding , horse riding, etc, and way too many fast food joints selling all kinds of food and drinks. There are fruit vendors , toy vendors , and so many shop keepers all around. If you just want to sit by the lake and watch the sunset amidst all the cacophony , come a bit early and sit a little away from the main entrance point.
Adj G — Google review
This lake is very beautiful. It would have been much better if there was no rain and fog. Boat ride was thrilling and the fun filled horse riding with my son. Plenty of stalls for street food like corn, tea, etc…

Lodwick Point, formerly known as Sydney Point, is a picturesque mountain clearing located about 5 kilometers from Mahabaleshwar's central market. Named after Colonel General Lodwick, the first European to ascend this hill in 1824, it offers stunning sunset views across hills and valleys.
A beautiful breathtaking view. Excellent spot. Easily accessible. Beautiful natural environment. Very clean and we'll maintained. Lovely place to visit.

There is some Road Construction work going on and hence you need to Walk for around 3 kilometres to reach there. But I would advise to take that effort because the view and the scenery it offer at the end is awesome. In the middle you can find some small shops for your refreshment needs. And can also enjoy Horse riding here. Ahead of this pont is the famous Elephant point or the Needle point which is also worth visiting
Pruthviraj P — Google review
I honestly can’t express my feelings — the experience is on another level. The fresh air at the top of the mountains, combined with the breathtaking view of the river and mountain range, is something you have to feel in person. Absolutely magical and a must-visit spot
Rahul S — Google review
The newly constructed concrete road is not enough to pass 2 sedan cars in opposite direction. This cause heavy traffic & we got to drive in reverse for almost 3kms. One of the cars was almost went down the lane (the lane is 1 feet steep on both sides) Tourists have to be more cautious taking this route, I highly recommend NO to this spot having this road.
Kuzhali K — Google review
Visited on 8/05/2025. Great view.you have to walk for 10/15 minutes to reach the point. Elephant head point is 100 meters ahead. It has also great view.
Pradeep B — Google review
Sunset point in Mahabaleshwar with a view of Pratapgad fort. The point is a short walk from the parking lot and offers gorgeous panoramic views. During and post monsoon, several waterfalls can be seen in the surrounding hills. You can also continue walking ahead for about 10 minutes to reach Elephants head. Vendors offer simple local snacks and beverages. Usually, you will not get any network coverage at this point.
Meanderer — Google review
As a scenic location, this is among the best in Mahabaleshwar. But all the fun is spoiled because of the extremely narrow road leading to the point (up to the parking area that barely accommodates 10 cars, beyond which you must walk). The cement road is narrow and elevated about a foot from ground. You have to drive carefully to avoid either to stop the left wheel from going off the road into the ditch, or rubbing the vehicles coming from the other side. If you are traveling in an expensive car, it's best to avoid this place.
Rajeev D — Google review
It was a beautiful view from the point. The parking is approximately 800 to 900 meters away from the point so you have to walk for like 15 min but the road is great so that's not a problem and both the lodwick point and elephant point are close to each other just like 200 meters distance but elephant point has a greater view of the valley.❤️

One of the breathtaking views in Mahabaleshwar. The small treking of 15 to 20 min was a beautiful experience. There is waterfall to attractions with a foggy view! You have to walk into the woods to see it. It's amazing experience.😍👌🏻

Babington Point, formerly known as Sydney Point, is a scenic lookout located about 5 kilometers from the central market of Mahabaleshwar. Named after Colonel General Lodwick, it offers stunning vistas of the surrounding countryside and is a popular spot for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Chinaman Waterfalls and Saddleback, along with lush forested hills.
On the side there is a small walkway that lead to a small hamlet. Follow that path and even before the hamlet, there is a small walkway that goes inside the forest. Where the forest clears up, you get a breathtaking view of the China main falls in a distance. Nice place to spend some time and also have a small picnic.
Jeyaranjan C — Google review
This is kind of a deserted point. When we went there no tourists were there apart from us. Some local people were hanging out in there with loud music and food. This point might be good in rains but normally its just a regular sitting place with not so good view.
Swapnil — Google review
Not a point with great view but has lot of tree cover and a good place to sit and chill with friends, family. It’s remote and there are very few tourists so good for people who love the tranquility. Would not recommend to go after late evening specially for women as it’s a deserted place.
Akash J — Google review
It is great but don't go in foggy weather. But you click good photographs.
Prashant G — Google review
Surrounding atmosphere is pleasant. Dense forest and quiet area. I loved the place. But view point is fully covered with trees, valley is not at all visible.
Kartik M — Google review
Trees are blocking the valley view so many people avoid this point. If you are looking for a less crowded place to click your photos then this is a nice spot, otherwise avoid.
Piyush G — Google review
As the trees blocking the view there is no view of the valley. Its better to head to Tapola point rather than stopping here.

After reaching the point go down wards from the side path having a walk time to the 6-7 mins there. You will surely enjoy the scenically view around the three sides of mountains.

Morarji Castle is a captivating sight in Mahabaleshwar, featuring colonial British architecture and a rich history. It is believed that Mahatma Gandhi once stayed at this place. A drive around the area offers views of exotic colonial structures, making it a must-visit destination in the region.
We parked outside the entrance gate, only to find it was private property. Despite this, we convinced the housekeeper to let us in by promising not to take interior photos. After a tough discussion, we were granted entry. A ten-minute walk brought us to another gate, revealing a breathtaking sight: a majestic castle set in a sprawling landscape, showcasing British colonial architecture. The bungalow, though not tall, was expansive with red walls, sea green roofs, wooden staircases, and white doors with glass panels, captivating heritage and architecture enthusiasts. This historic landmark, built during the British era when Mahabaleshwar was the Summer capital, reflects British design and hosted Mahatma Gandhi in 1945 during India's freedom movement, adding significant historical value.

Despite its proximity to the highway, it remains relatively uncrowded compared to other attractions in the area. The garden boasts lush greenery, attractive flower beds, and refreshing walkways for visitors to enjoy. Towering trees provide ample shade over benches, creating a perfect spot for relaxation.
Well maintained garden, 5minutes walking distance from bus stand, If you are staying nearby stand then best place to start your day by morning walk here. Lots of flowers planted, must visit for fresh morning.

Although this garden is directly on the main highway, it is surprising that the place pulls less crowd as compared to other attractions. The garden is plentiful of greenery. Attractive flower beds are as well there. A stroll on the walkways is also thoroughly refreshing. The canopy of towering trees provides a lovely shade on the benches. The distance is not too far from the marketplace & can be reached easily on foot from the parking lot.

Gureghar Nature Trail ViewPoint is a hidden gem in Mahabaleshwar, often overlooked by tourists visiting Mapro Garden. The entrance is opposite Mapro Garden and vehicles are not allowed inside. There's no entry fee with the Mahabaleshwar Travel Pass. The 1km trek to the viewpoint takes around 23 minutes and offers a panoramic, windy view of the surrounding mountain ranges.
Worth the journey. The entrance is quite hidden. It’s through the place right opposite to Mapro Garden. There’s no entry fee if you already have the Mahabaleshwar Travel Pass (₹25/person). From the entrance you’ll have to walk 1KM top ~23mins walk but the the seat on the top is quite excellent. Windy, panoramic, clear view of all the mountain ranges around. The trek is medium-steep. With no around, it’s the best time to just stay and chill with yourself/family/friends. There are no monkey here luckily and hence no food also. The trail maybe little lonely as it’s sandwiched between dense forests.
Harish V — Google review
A point with 360 degrees panoramic views of Mahabaleshwar can be enjoyed from here. 15 mins of natural trail from entry gate. It is located near the Mapro garden. There is a watch tower at the summit. There is an entry ticket of ₹.25 which is valid for many points for 5 days including this one. Trail is through luscious green forests which makes atmosphere very serene. One can visit with family as it's a short trail.
Deep S — Google review
Honestly not really rewarding at the the end of the trail. View is very average. The trail is 1 km long and slightly uphill. You need to park your car near mapro garden parking and enter the sign showing TRIVENI POINT. Skip this.
Saif S — Google review
This viewpoint is less explored by tourists, it offers a scenic view. The scenic view might not be much spectacular as compared to other points in mahabaleshwar however this has a moderate level of trekking experience for kids and family. Approximately it would take 30 min or less to reach the viewpoint. Along the trail you will find various informative posters about wildlife and trees. If you are taking your car, park it at the entry gate only as the road ahead is single and suitable for off-road vehicles with less options to make a u turn. When you reach the trail path, use the left gate to proceed to the viewpoint.
Avinash D — Google review
An awesome energetic start to the day ! Away from the commercial hustle bustle of the tourist city, this place offers you sounds of only birds and insects through the 30-40 min peaceful walk amidst the forest. The summit, 'Triveni Point' does offer a lovely panoramic view of the hills and forest around
Aniket M — Google review
Scenic place just opposite Mapro Garden. But dont worry, less than 1% ppl visiting Mapro garden come here. So it is like a private nature walk. Forest deptt charges Rs 25 per adult as entrance fees. A gentle climb of about 15-20mins takes you to a peak. Panoramic view of all four directions of Mahabaleshwar is seen from here. You see Table Land, Old Mahabaleshwar, Koyan Valley. Can see different species of butterflies and birds here.
Kedar P — Google review
This is a lesser known spot near mahabaleshwar just opposite mapro Garden. I would highly recommend this place to nature lovers and to people who like visiting less crowded places. It's also an ideal spot for picnic and hikes with family. There are benches at garden and it gives you a feel of sense forest. There is a lot to learn about different plants and trees. Highly recommend everyone to visit this hidden gem. And if you're wondering whether it's safe, it is and you can go there without fear of wild animals and humans.
Saimah — Google review
Follow the nature trail for around 1.2kms and you'll get to see some spectacular views from one of the highest points of Maharashtra. You'll get to see 360 degree view of all the highest peak and magnificent valleys of Mahabaleshwar.
