Bodies of Water
Charlotte Lake, also known as Sharlott Lake, is a serene reservoir located 2 kilometers from Matheran Railway Station in Maharashtra. It is a popular tourist destination and a must-visit spot in the best hill station of Maharashtra. The lake is at its fullest during the monsoon season, offering a picturesque view with its small dam and waterfalls. Surrounded by lush green forests, it provides an ideal setting for nature enthusiasts, peace seekers, and bird watchers.
This is probably the best place to spend time with the company of calmness in Matheran. To reach Charlotte Lake, it would require a little trekking following the trail in the wild. The lake is beautiful, totally worth the little trek to reach there. It feels peaceful to sit by the lake especially when you've got good company along with you. It's definitely a must visit place in Matheran.
Noel N — Google review
Charlotte Lake & Lord’s View Point are next to each other. It’s known for the pretty sunsets, there are small stores close by that sell snacks and tea. It’s a small hike for 15min from the main path. It is super safe both at day and night to walk through the forest. I would recommend this place if you’re at Matheran for visit.
Jonah J — Google review
It's a must-visit if you're heading to this beautiful hill station. This serene spot lets you sit quietly by the lake, absorb the tranquility, and truly feel connected to nature. To reach the lake, you'll need to trek a bit through the forest — a refreshing and adventurous experience. While horse rides are also available, the walk through the woods is something you shouldn’t miss. ⚠️ A word of caution: During the monsoon, the path can get slippery, and accidents have happened in the past — so please be careful if you’re visiting during the rains.
Sudipa K — Google review
A serene spot in Matheran where a tranquil lake is beautifully surrounded by mountains and greenery. There’s a seating area where you can relax, take in the breathtaking view, and truly feel at peace. A perfect place to spend some quality time amidst nature.

Louisa Point, located 2 kilometers from Matheran's main market, is a popular lookout spot offering panoramic views of the Sahyadri range, Arabian Sea, waterfalls, valleys, and nearby villages. It is a favorite among hikers and photographers due to its majestic vistas of ancient forts like Prabal Fort and Vishalgad.
We visited Matheran in weekend and it was as expected crowded than weekdays. Everything is expensive over there starting from food to horse rides to handicrafts. You will get no network so carry cash with yourself. Try to walk and visit all the points rather than waiting for a horse ride. It's a wholesome experience. You will experience serenity, peace to the fullest. Loved it. A proper one day trip.
Juthika B — Google review
Louisa Point, situated in the serene hill station of Matheran, Maharashtra, India, is a popular vantage point offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and majestic mountains of the Western Ghats. Perched at an elevation of approximately 800 meters, it provides a tranquil escape and a feast for the eyes. Named after Lady Louisa, the wife of Lord Elphinstone, this point is a must-visit for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts. On a clear day, one can witness the distant forts of Prabal and Vishalgad, and even catch a glimpse of the Mumbai skyline. The lush greenery, especially vibrant during the monsoon season, adds to the charm of the vista. Reaching Louisa Point involves a pleasant walk of about 1.5 kilometers from the main Matheran market, or a scenic horse ride. The journey through the dense forests is an experience in itself. The tranquility and the stunning views make Louisa Point a truly unforgettable spot in Matheran.
TripperHD V — Google review
Louisa Point is almost 1.5 km away from the marketplace and will take around 20 minutes to reach here on foot. If it's a clear sunny day, this place will offer you breathtaking views that will compel you to settle down here for a moment. This is a unique point in Matheran as it offers two different picturesque views. From one point, you can see the sky touching the mountains and a civilisation located far in a valley. If you visit during monsoon, you'll also be captivated by waterfalls. Another view is of Lake Charlotte that looks like a diamond necklace when seen from here. Louisa Point also offers a clear view of Prabal Fort. All these different views are intriguing and one can spend hours gazing at them. We sat there, soaked in the beauty of the place and relishing moments of silence. This place is known as a photographer's paradise in Matheran because it offers panoramic views of mountains, peaks, valleys, lake and waterfalls. In most of the travel portals, blogs and magazines, Matheran has been represented by using Louisa Point's pictures. During the peak season, photo points are a little crowded and sometimes you need to be patient for your view to be ‘people free’, but all your waiting time is worth those beautiful, dreamy and wallpaper pictures. Some people also stay at Louisa Point to watch the sunset.
Shubham M — Google review
Very beautiful view point in Matheran. Huge open space for you to sit, relax, spend some time with yourself or family/ friends, absorb the atmosphere (take tons of pictures if you wish to!). On one side you have the beautiful landscape of hills and plateau and on the other side you have a beautiful waterfall! There’s a long fence on the right, however there is a point where the fence is broken and one can just hop over and walk to the edge of the ledge for an adrenaline rush (although not advisable)!
Sunny A — Google review
This is one of the most beautiful point in matheran hill station Sunet is beautiful from this point During monsoon season this place is beautiful Clouds and fogg gets developed during rainy season You can see waterfall echo point from this point
Rahul — Google review
Louisa Point in Matheran is one of the most serene and picturesque viewpoints I’ve ever visited. Known for its panoramic views of the surrounding hills, valleys, and distant plains, it offers a truly refreshing experience for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts alike. The walk to reach Louisa Point is scenic, with red soil paths, lush greenery, and the occasional sight of local wildlife adding charm to the journey. Once you arrive, the view is absolutely worth it — you can see miles of rolling hills, dense forests, and sometimes even mist floating across the valleys, especially during the monsoon season. What makes Louisa Point special is the calm and peaceful atmosphere. Unlike some of the more crowded points in Matheran, here you can take your time, sit back, and enjoy the beauty of nature without feeling rushed. It’s perfect for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, or for anyone who simply wants to capture some incredible landscape photographs. The cool breeze, the rustling of leaves, and the quiet surroundings make it a rejuvenating experience. A small tip for visitors: carry water, wear comfortable shoes, and try visiting early in the morning or late afternoon for the best views and lighting for photography. Overall, Louisa Point is a hidden gem of Matheran and a must-visit spot for anyone exploring this beautiful hill station.

One Tree Hill Point in Matheran, Maharashtra is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts and adventurers. The single tree atop the lush green mountain offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding dense forests and varying shades of green. Visitors can immerse themselves in the pure, soothing beauty of this place, leaving behind their worries and stress as they take in the fresh air and stunning scenery. It's advisable to pack sun protection, water, trekking shoes, and essential items for the trip.
One Tree Hill Point in Matheran offers a wonderful trekking experience, especially during the monsoon. The trail is lush and scenic, with misty views enhancing the charm. The climb is moderate, making it enjoyable for most, and the reward at the top is stunning. A must-visit for nature lovers!
Viren S — Google review
One of my favourite points in Matheran. It is on the far side where less people visit, but if you like to climb up rocks you get to experience a great view from here also if you want you can trek down the mountain (at your own risk, not advised). You can take a horse ride to this spot, it might take you long if you walk.
Ashwin K — Google review
One of the best monsoon trek to start the trekking season. There are some changes in trekking route in starting of the trekking due to the one resort came . Rest all is same.
Jiten P — Google review
one of the beautiful treks in Matheran. Start early for sunrise and make sure to keep eye on the edges as the valley towards the hill is deep.. also pretty safe provided you are not the one who focuses on camera. Further if you hike down you will reach ambevadi village and locals use this route for their daily commute..dont take horse ride- rather trek
Karthik K — Google review
Very scenic views one must visit this point while in Matheran..
Ram K — Google review
Visited One Tree Hill Point on July 02, 2023 at Matheran through trek from base village but could not climb on last point which is called one tree hill being slippery and foggy. It's quite risky in monsoon so everyone should avoid climbing the last point. Views are amazing and has waterfalls while descending from old British route.
Nirmal S — Google review
you can miss it if you want. This is an interesting sightseeing point. And it's amazing to see just a single tree on the hill. nice tourist attraction. One Tree Hill as the name suggests has just one tree on the hill top among all other surroundings nearby which have dense tree & forest cover. One can go near the hill but cannot climb without harness or rope and reach the hill top near the tree. There are much better places in and around Matheran for sight-seeing. Missing this one is advisable. It about 45 minute’s walk from the Matheran railway station on small stones filled roads. Walking is uneven and may prove damaging to the ankles. No vehicles are allowed inside Matheran.
Sanjay G — Google review
Instead of riding a horse, we trekked for 5 km to reach One Tree hill and it was worth the experience. The path to the tree was a bit challenging but the view and the feeling after reaching that place was amazing. We started early in the morning around 6 so there was no one in the place except us. But during our time of return to the hotel around 9-10 we started seeing groups around that place. So if you want to just sit and enjoy the place, visit early.

Panorama Point, also known as Sunrise Point, is a remote and popular spot in Matheran that offers breathtaking views of the valley and is especially renowned for its stunning sunrise vistas. Located about 5 km from Matheran Railway Station, it stands out as the farthest viewpoint in Matheran, making it an interesting trek of almost 7.5 kilometers from the marketplace.
Panorama Point in Matheran is truly a hidden gem that lives up to its name. Situated on the northernmost edge of the hill station, it offers a breathtaking 360-degree view of the surrounding valleys and hills. What makes this spot special is its peaceful ambiance—far from the touristy chaos of central Matheran. If you're someone who loves nature, solitude, and a bit of hiking, this point is perfect. The early morning view from Panorama Point is spectacular, especially during sunrise. The sky transitions through shades of pink, orange, and gold, casting a magical glow over the Sahyadri ranges. You can see the distant plains, winding rivers, and the peaks of nearby hills. It’s a photographer’s paradise, particularly in the monsoon when the mist rolls in and the lush greenery becomes vibrant. The trek to Panorama Point is around 6–7 km from Matheran Market and is best enjoyed on foot or horseback, as vehicles are not allowed in the eco-sensitive zone. Wear good trekking shoes and carry water, especially if you're walking. In short, Panorama Point is a must-visit if you're in Matheran. Its serenity, scenic beauty, and panoramic views make it worth every step of the journey.

A quiet secluded point. Not crowded like the others. Its a walkable distance from the main market area. Horse operators falsely claim that this place is far and the roads are bad. But the road to this place is actually better than some of the other points! Best time to visit would be sunrise and sunset. Carry your own water as there were no stalls when I visited this place.

It a good point for photoshoot..but fog is a main issue during monsoon
Khushi J — Google review
Panorama Point, Matheran – A Peaceful Gem with Stunning Views Panorama Point truly lives up to its name, the views are absolutely breathtaking and stretch endlessly across the valleys and hills of Matheran. It’s one of the quieter spots on the hill, perfect if you’re looking to escape the crowds and enjoy nature at its best. From the Dasturi car park, simply walk through and look for the pathway leading to Panorama Point. The walk takes about 30 to 40 minutes, depending on your pace, and is quite pleasant with shaded stretches and glimpses of the surrounding forest. The climb is gradual and rewarding once you reach the top. What makes this spot extra special is that there are no food stalls or vendors at the point, just peace, fresh air, and panoramic views. It’s the perfect place to sit quietly, watch the sunrise or sunset, and take in the beauty of the Western Ghats without any distractions. Tips: - Carry water since there are no stalls at the point. - Wear comfortable shoes. - Early morning or evening is the best time to visit for soft light and cool weather. A serene and scenic viewpoint, peaceful, clean, and truly panoramic. Worth every step of the hike.

Top & the most beautiful point of matheran. Sunrise or sunset you can catch any. 2.5 kms from dastur naka parking, thorough well built pathway with concrete blocks & side stone walls. Picturesque & vicinity. Wear shades & good sports shoes. Monkey menace. Tripod/selfie sticks must. 360° view of surrounding cities from above. PLEASE DON'T LITTER.
Sharadraj M — Google review
It’s not crowded like other points, which makes the experience feel more personal and peaceful. The cool breeze, and the sheer silence made it feel like time had paused. We didn’t spot any stalls nearby, so carrying water and snacks was a good call. If you’re up for a bit of adventure and want to witness nature’s quiet spectacle, Panorama Point is a must-visit. Just don’t fall for the horse operators insisting it’s too far to walk you’ll miss the joy of the journey
AMAR J — Google review
The view from here is breathtaking. Please visit here. We can go here by walk from the parking site. Book horse ride only if you want , don't listen to the horse operators, they insist you to take horse ride by saying panorama point of far away and you cannot walk to it.
AMAR A — Google review
🌄 Panorama Point in Matheran truly lives up to its name — it offers a stunning 360° view of the Sahyadri hills, valleys, and distant forts. Best known as a sunrise spot, the play of colours in the sky makes it magical. Unlike the more crowded points in Matheran, this one feels peaceful and less commercialized, perfect for nature lovers. Be ready for a short trek or horse ride to reach it, and carry water/snacks as facilities are minimal. The walk itself is refreshing, though during monsoon it can get slippery. Morning visits are most rewarding, with cool breeze, mist, and serene vibes.

This is also called sunset point. Suggest to go before sunset to enjoy the nature. Barely 2 kilometers away from the railway station and. One. And half kilometre from pay master park of Matheran, Porcupine Point, commonly known as the sunset point, is just the right place where one can breathe, and feel the fresh air. The place owes its name to the shape of the place, which bears a strong resemblance to the shape of a bird called Porcupine. It is also known as the sunset point as the view of the sunset and sunrise from here is hard to find anywhere else in Matheran. Along with the captivating view of the sun playing hide and seek with the mountains in the cloud racing sky, the point is quite renowned for a unparallel view of sunrise. Be careful of monkey.

Monkey Point, also known as Sunset Point, is a popular spot in Matheran that offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys. It's named after the playful monkeys that inhabit the area. The point provides a panoramic view of lush green vegetation and an echoing phenomenon where your shout is returned to you. Best place to visit in India itself during rainy season and with best views of waterfalls. Can stay over there in hotel nice place to enjoy with family. Don't come in contact with fraudster horse ride people you can cover it by walk.

Monkeys come in the evening only. Heart Point is better. Best views are a fortnight after monsoon sets in to see waterfalls from here.
Antz J — Google review
Visited this point during my Matheran trip. Although the name is Monkey Point, I couldn't spot any monkeys at this place. We visited this place in the morning before noon. The view of the hills and the sky is really amazing here! There was nobody here so it was a calm place to enjoy the view. If you're walking to this place while having your short trek from Aman Lodge railway station then it's definitely worth waiting here for a while. The horse riding also covers these spots but they cheat you by charging extra money for stopping at this point. Beware of those people trying to convince you to get on a horse to ride till Matheran, they just wanna extract money out of you.

The path to get there is dangerously slippery and mostly unpaved. The steps are a life risk to walk on. The view itself isn't bad though.

A beautiful spot to view the sunset and the valley lying beyond. Overall Matheran trip is a very refreshing and close to nature experience. I personally suggest everyone to make a trip to this hill at least once in your lifetime!
Aavil R — Google review
Great view from this point. It is situated very aptly from where one can see beautiful mountain lush green during monsoon. It is the first point recommended to visit during Matheran visit. There is an offbeat trail which leads to the point and thus, it is not as densely crowded during tourist season. From here, one can find a jungle trail, to next view point which is pretty adventurous and passes through forest. The forest trail is mildly adventurous as you may have to climb through/under fallen trees and landslides areas. Not recommended to take the trail during rains and must be taken at your own risk. The forest route directly leads to the next viewpoint. Otherwise, one may take the regular tourist route too. I am attaching an image of the forest trail with this review to get an idea.

Echo Point in Matheran is a popular scenic lookout spot that offers breathtaking views of the mountains, lakes, and valleys. Located about 2.5 km from Matheran Railway Station, it is known for its magnificent panoramas and the echoes that reverberate from the mountains. This clean and pleasant place also boasts a variety of food stalls offering freshly prepared snacks. Nature lovers visiting in October or November can witness a magnificent waterfall from Echo Point.
Me and my family visit October 2024. I really feel like I am in a heaven. It was my first hill station visit. Small but very attractive hill station. You can found here all experiences of hill stations like mountains, waterfall, lush greenery, toy train and chilled weather etc. Echo Point at Matheran, as the name suggested this places is famous for the echoes which will hit back from the hills so don’t miss out to shout your name which will reiterate after you. It is the perfect vantage point to view the mesmerizing peaks of the western ghats. This place has multiple food and shopping stalls. You will have to use horses to travel or walk if you are comfortable as the area is maintained pollution free. I feel it is the best thing of the hill station that it is pollution free.

Echo Point is a beautiful spot, but the view can be unpredictable. When we first arrived, it was completely covered in clouds and we couldn't see anything. However, we waited a little while, and once the clouds cleared, the actual beauty of the place was revealed. It was well worth the wait. A word of caution: be very careful with your belongings, as monkeys are a common sight and they are not shy about snatching things. Overall, it's a stunning viewpoint, but be prepared for a potential wait for the clouds to clear and keep a close eye on your things.

Beautiful and peaceful place. Scenery is amazing. Surrounded by cool and fresh air and lots and lots of greenery which is very soothing for eyes and heart as well.

Matheran’s Echo Point is truly a breathtaking spot that lives up to its name and more. As I walked through the red mud trails surrounded by dense greenery, reaching Echo Point felt like stepping into a serene painting. The view from the edge is absolutely stunning lush valleys stretch endlessly, and on a clear day, you can see layers of the Sahyadri hills stacked like waves. The cool breeze, especially in the morning, is refreshing, and the echo phenomenon is a fun little surprise shouting out into the vastness and hearing your voice bounce back feels almost magical. What made the experience even better was the peaceful atmosphere. Unlike many touristy viewpoints, Echo Point wasn’t too crowded when I visited, and the sound of wind rustling through the trees added to the calmness. I’d definitely recommend going just after sunrise or around sunset for the best views and cooler temperatures. If you’re in Matheran, this spot is a must visit both for its natural beauty and the quiet connection it offers with the landscape around you.

Nice point, in nature you can hear echo from here. Must visit place to see Chatrapati shivaji maharaj forts from here.
Viraj J — Google review
Echo Point in Matheran is one of the most famous and must-visit spots in the entire hill station, and after visiting it, I can clearly understand why. The journey to Echo Point is a pleasant one — surrounded by greenery, red soil pathways, and that peaceful vibe that Matheran is known for. Once you reach the point, the view opens up beautifully with wide valleys and endless greenery stretching into the distance. The best part, of course, is the unique echo effect. Shout your name or anything loudly, and you’ll hear it bounce back from the hills, which is always fun whether you’re visiting with friends, family, or even kids. During the monsoon, Echo Point becomes even more beautiful. Clouds float around you, the cool breeze adds to the charm, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot tiny waterfalls in the valleys below. It’s one of those places where you can sit for a long time just admiring the natural beauty. The atmosphere is lively as many visitors gather, and the echo effect adds a playful mood. There are small stalls nearby where you can get snacks, tea, or lemon water, making it a nice break spot. The area is usually clean, but since it can get crowded, I’d suggest visiting early in the morning for a quieter experience. If you are in Matheran, Echo Point is truly unmissable. It’s not just about the view but the fun experience of the echo that makes it stand out. A perfect blend of scenic beauty and entertainment!

The Toy Train Track - Trek To Matheran is a heritage railway that covers a 21-kilometer route from Neral to Matheran, offering a unique way to explore the Western Ghats of India. The train ride takes about 2 hours and provides stunning views of the mountains and valleys. The steam engine-powered narrow gauge train offers quaint coaches with unobstructed views, making it an ideal option for families with kids.
I would definitely recommend taking this toy train atleast one way. We did trek while going up and took this train while coming down. Nice experience and views. ₹55 is the normal ticket price for this train. Ticket window opens 45 minutes before trains departure time and there is huge demand during weekends.

Toy train ride is awesome.Toy train speed is low but views are worth watching.I took toy train form Neral to Matheran and it took 2 hours 45 minutes to reach. For toy train ticket one must visit before 1 hour bcoz only 100 seats are in 2nd class so limited seats are there.Fare from Neral to Matheran is 95 rs for one person.Only 2 trains depart from Neral to Matheran.Anyone must travel in toy train once if they are visiting Matheran.

The frequency of the toy trains and the availability of seats is just not enough to cover a sufficient number of people heading to Matheran. The toy train ride is the highlight of your matheran trip and can't be missed, it passes through amazing views on the way and takes approximately 2.5 hours to reach Matheran from Neral railway station.

This is where it all starts, follow the track for 5-6kms and you will be in the Matheran market.. amazing views on the way and lot of eateries around. If you don't get tickets for toy train you may walk up along side the track which is pretty safe. Especially in monsoon, this places looks super greenery with puddles and falls everywhere.

Little Chowk Point in Matheran is one of those spots that offers a perfect blend of scenic beauty and accessibility, making it a must-visit for anyone exploring this hill station. The viewpoint is easily reachable and provides an incredible panorama of the surrounding hills, valleys, and greenery that Matheran is famous for. What I particularly enjoyed about Little Chowk Point is the calm and peaceful atmosphere. Despite being popular with tourists, it never feels overwhelmingly crowded, allowing you to spend time admiring the views, clicking photos, or simply relaxing and soaking in the natural beauty. The breeze here is refreshing, and the sound of rustling leaves adds to the serene experience. In no way this is Honeymoon point. This is just an quantitative addition in the list of Matheran tourist points. The view of hill, valley and mountain isn't pleasing at all, even the place to stand near this so called honeymoon point is very risky without any safety measures. Infact the barren view of this place gives you sadistic feel nothing else. Worst point, and should be definitely avoided. May be this is the reason this place has only 3 reviews.

This point located near the Echo Point on the right side. The name of the point is kept on the ritual of gathering honey in the night of full moon by local villagers. It's truly a must-visit spot. While the monsoon season brings heavy mist that often hides the view, it creates a different kind of magic — the scent of fresh rain and wet earth (mitti) fills the air, adding a sense of calm and freshness. But during summer, the skies are clear, and the panoramic views are breathtaking — making it the perfect time to soak in the natural beauty of this serene point.
Sudipa K — Google review
The beauty of a hill station lies in its tranquility. Surrounded by lush green valleys, dense forests, and snow-capped peaks (depending on the altitude and season), every corner feels like a painting come to life.

A Magical Monsoon Getaway! Visited Matheran during the monsoon, and it was absolutely breathtaking. The entire hill station transforms into a lush green paradise with misty trails, cascading waterfalls, and cool, refreshing weather. The toy train ride (when operational) adds a nostalgic charm, and walking along the red mud paths in the rain feels like something out of a movie. What I loved most is that Matheran is an eco-sensitive zone—no cars allowed—so it's peaceful, clean, and perfect for a quiet nature retreat. Do carry good shoes and a raincoat though, as it gets slippery. The panoramic views from places like Panorama Point and Echo Point are surreal with clouds floating around you. Highly recommend visiting during the monsoon season (June to September) for a truly magical experience! 🌧️🌿🌄

One of the greatest locations for families with low to medium levels of difficulty is Garbett Plateau, which is also the ideal time of year to visit from the monsoon to the winter. The journey from the railway track to Garbett Point takes almost an hour, and there is a beautiful view for photographers. Take a water bottle and some snacks because there are not many people shopping there and it is a hidden gem of the beauty of nature. Good for the team. Since there are no proper roads for off-road tracking, appropriate attire and footwear are preferable to standard items. Must make a visit...

I recently visited Lord Point, just a short walk from Charlotte Lake, and was pleasantly surprised by the panoramic views unfolding before me. From this small yet scenic vantage, I could gaze out over lush green valleys, cascading waterfalls (especially vivid during and after monsoon season), and distant hilltops a calming panorama that left me in awe. The tiled passage up to the point was easy to navigate and felt inviting. Despite being one of the more modest viewpoints in Matheran, Lord Point has its charm. It wasn’t overcrowded when I visited, so I could linger in peaceful solitude, absorbing the scenery and even spotting the occasional wandering monkey. I’d recommend going either right after rains or during monsoon when the greenery is lushest and staying a little past sunset for dramatic skies. Simple, quiet, and undeniably beautiful a serene little escape that’s well worth the visit.

Super spot with beautiful view and a waterfall nearby, which in winters dry out so again good spot to go to for nice panoramic views of the valley and morbe dam.. Do try and reach this point early to have it to yourself or very few folks… and prefer before 9am

Belvedere Point is a bit far from the main market, but the journey to reach it is absolutely worth every step. The walk through the serene forest trails makes it even more rewarding. The view from the point is breathtaking, especially in the early morning when the place is quiet and almost empty. You can truly soak in the beauty of Matheran at its calmest here. However, be cautious — the slopes are quite steep, and it’s best not to take any unnecessary risks for the sake of adventure or photos. A peaceful, scenic spot that’s worth the effort!

Great spot for view. You'll find mountainous views as well as lake views from here. Quite spacious viewpoint, unlike other points that get quite crowded. I visited on the weekend yet there were very few people here. Sit here, enjoy for a bit and then move ahead.

Belvedere Point in Matheran is one of the most breathtaking viewpoints in the entire hill station and a must-visit for anyone exploring this region. What makes Belvedere Point stand out is its panoramic views of the surrounding Sahyadri hills, dense forests, and the valleys stretching far into the distance. From here, you can also spot Prabal Fort and other distant peaks, which adds a historical and adventurous charm to the experience. The point is easily accessible and offers a perfect spot to relax, take photos, or simply enjoy the serenity of nature. The atmosphere at Belvedere Point is calm and peaceful, allowing visitors to spend time soaking in the beauty without feeling rushed. During the monsoon season, the view becomes even more magical with mist, clouds, and tiny waterfalls appearing across the hills and valleys. The natural greenery combined with the open sky creates a picture-perfect setting for photography enthusiasts. Sunsets and early mornings at Belvedere Point are especially mesmerizing, offering soft light and cool breezes that make the visit even more enjoyable. While there are minimal facilities at the point, carrying water and snacks ensures a comfortable visit. The area is clean and well-maintained, adding to the overall experience. Belvedere Point is ideal for travelers, nature lovers, and anyone seeking a peaceful escape in Matheran. It offers a perfect combination of scenic beauty, tranquility, and photo opportunities, making it a must-stop destination in the hill station.

From this viewpoint, you can gaze down into the valleys while listening to the soothing kirtan from the nearby temple. The best time to visit is in the afternoon when the light beautifully illuminates the landscape. After this, you can head over to the picturesque Louisa Point.

Beautiful spot in matheran. Be aware of monkeys, do not eat any food at the spots in front of monkeys. They will try to snatch the food. Rest all is a super awesome breathtaking view. If you like walking or are ready for small efforts to walk in the mountains to see this beautiful view, you must visit. I personally went after not walking for a couple of months much walking straight for 5-6 hours in matheran 😅 I did have leg pains but it was worth the experience.

Rambaug Point is a must-visit destination in Matheran, offering breathtaking views of the eastern hills and the morning sunrise. Situated between Alexander Point and Little Chowk Point, this scenic spot provides an ideal vantage point to admire the surrounding peaks and witness the first light of day. Visitors can also enjoy enchanting vistas of Garbet Plateau, Sondai Fort, and Chowk Point from this picturesque location.
Visiting Rambaug Point at 2:00 AM was nothing short of magical. We were told it’s a quiet spot perfect for stargazing, and it lived up to every word. Getting there involved a short trek through the forest, which was a bit dark but thrilling since we were in a big group. Once we reached, the view was breathtaking. Sitting under a clear sky full of stars, surrounded by the silence of nature, felt surreal. It’s one of those rare moments where time slows down, and you just soak in the beauty around you. Definitely an experience I’ll never forget!

There goes a path from rambaug point to pokharwadi village which is a gentle slope and is now an offbeat trek route. This route is usually taken by villagers to get milk & fodder for horses on matheran.

Sunset Point, also known as Porcupine Point, is a popular fenced-in spot in Matheran that offers breathtaking views of the sun setting over the mountains. It is renowned for its 360-degree vision of the rugged landscapes and serene sunsets. The shape of this point resembles that of a bird and it provides an ideal vantage point to witness the sunset behind the mountains in a burst of oranges and yellows.
Sunset Point in Matheran is known for its breathtaking views, but visiting during the monsoon gave it a unique charm. The cloudy, foggy weather added a soothing atmosphere, as mist enveloped the hills, creating a mystical vibe. Though I couldn’t witness a clear sunset, the experience of the cool breeze and the serene foggy landscape was magical in its own right. It's definitely worth visiting, especially for those who enjoy the peacefulness of nature during the monsoon. The misty hills and calming weather make it a memorable experience.

Sunset Point in Matheran is a highly sought-after vantage point renowned for its spectacular panoramic views, particularly during sunset. As the name suggests, it offers an enchanting experience of the sun dipping below the horizon, painting the sky with vibrant hues of orange, pink, and purple. Located at a significant elevation, the point provides an unobstructed vista of the surrounding valleys and the distant mountain ranges of the Western Ghats. Reaching Sunset Point involves a pleasant walk or a short horse ride from the main Matheran market. The journey itself is scenic, winding through lush greenery. The tranquility of the location, coupled with the breathtaking views, makes it a favorite spot for tourists and locals alike. Many visitors gather here in the late afternoon to witness the mesmerizing sunset, creating a serene and memorable experience. The cool breeze and the vast expanse of the landscape further enhance the charm of Sunset Point.

Its a beautiful place with an amazing view truly worth visiting!.It’s the last viewpoint of the day, and the sunset looks stunning from here. However, a word of caution for visitors: after sunset, there are no lights and very few signboards to guide the way back. The area is surrounded by forest, and it’s easy to lose your way once it gets dark. I was a solo traveller and got stuck there for a while — it was quite risky. There are no animals or other dangers, but the main issue is the lack of lighting and directions. So, don’t go alone after sunset. Visit with someone or leave before it gets dark.

Garbett Plateau, located near Mumbai, is a popular trekking destination that can be completed in a day. Starting from Bhivpuri Road station, the 4-5 hour trek offers stunning views of Matheran and the lake. You have the option to return via the same path or take the Matheran route, which is just a 1-hour walk from the top. The plateau is known for its beautiful location and refreshing waterfalls, including rare reverse waterfalls.
Best trekking place for beginners to moderate trekkers. The best time to visit is in monsoon and early winter to witness the whole plateau covered with green grass blankets 😍. After covering the garbett plateau you can also climb the small peak ahead and get into Matheran's garbett plateau point waiving Matheran's entry fee 😅 and enjoy yourself in Matheran as well.

Breathtaking Views and Serene Landscapes. The trek offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape, with rolling hills, lush green forests, and picturesque valleys. The plateau itself is a tranquil haven, perfect for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. The trek is moderately challenging, making it accessible to most fitness levels. The scenic beauty and serene atmosphere make it well worth the effort

Honestly quite an easy trek. Just 20-30 minute patch before the last leg of trek is difficult due to steep climb. Overall great views and very well maintained by locals. Will find food stalls in every 30 minutes of the trek. Even at the top there is a food stall. Also, nice mini pool at the foothills of the trek. There is also a waterfall in a detour of 20 minutes. The trek has 3 routes at-least.

Visited Garbett Point in Matheran and it was truly a breathtaking experience🏔️! The trek to the point is scenic, especially during the monsoon☔️ when everything turns lush green. The view from the top is absolutely mesmerizing with panoramic sights of valleys, waterfalls, and distant hills.🌄 It’s less crowded compared to other points, making it peaceful and perfect for nature lovers and photographers📸. Do wear good trekking shoes as the path can get slippery during rains. Totally worth the effort for the stunning views. Bring some food with you like we do.

Breathtaking views + perfect weekend trek! Garbett Plateau is an absolute gem for nature lovers and trekking enthusiasts. We started our trek early morning from Bhivpuri side — the trail was scenic, filled with lush green meadows, waterfalls, and beautiful valley views all around 😍 The trek is moderately challenging — good shoes and stamina are a must. Reaching the plateau feels like stepping into a dream... cool breeze, panoramic views of Matheran hills, and complete peace away from the city noise. Perfect spot for photography and relaxing. 🚶‍♂️ Best time: Monsoon to early winter (July–December) 💡 Tip: Carry snacks, water, and a raincoat if going during monsoon. No food stalls at the top. Highly recommended if you want an offbeat and serene trekking experience near Mumbai!
DEEPAK K — Google review
Absolutely stunning point of Matheran. Easily my most favourite there. Getting to the Garbett Plateau from the Garbett Point is a bit tricky especially during monsoon. During monsoon I would recommend taking a long but safer and scenic trail to the plateau. On the way to Garbett Point, there will be another trail on the right hand side (easily recognised) which will take you to the plateau on a rather safer way during monsoon. Visit early so you can be back before the sundown.

Nestled in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra, Matheran is a charming hill station known for its natural beauty and colonial allure. This car-free destination offers a refreshing escape from city pollution, making it an ideal spot for couples, families, and friends to unwind and enjoy quality time together. The picturesque views, lush surroundings, and pleasant climate make it a popular choice for nature enthusiasts. Visitors can also experience the unique charm of the narrow-gauge railway that dates back to 1907.

Very good place for a short tour plan You can avail toy train ticket from Neral station by standing in queue(,much before the train departure time the queue starts,,,) . Ticket is booked in offline mode and on first come first serve basis. The toy train has only 90 seats and runs two times from Neral to matheran (morning 8.50 and 10.25 ) and from Matheran to Neral in the afternoon. The views from Toy train is awesome. If you come to matheran I would suggest to avail toy train service. Best season for tour is monsoon So many hours and hand driven rickshaw is available for the tourists for site seeing I would suggest to walk on your own for visiting the sites. Don't throw plastic bottles and single used plastic here and there. Keep the Hills clean.

Atharva V — Google review
Matheran, a charming hill station nestled in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra, is a true gem that beckons travelers seeking respite from the hustle and bustle of city life. Offering a unique experience with its tranquil atmosphere, breathtaking views, and a ban on motor vehicles, Matheran stands as a testament to the allure of nature and simplicity. One of the most striking features of Matheran is its sheer natural beauty. The hill station is blanketed in lush greenery, with dense forests, cascading waterfalls, and meandering trails that present an ideal setting for nature lovers and adventure seekers. Whether it's exploring the numerous viewpoints like Panorama Point, Echo Point, or Charlotte Lake, each offering panoramic vistas of the surrounding valleys, or embarking on a serene trek through the forests, Matheran never fails to captivate visitors with its idyllic charm. The absence of motor vehicles in Matheran is a blessing in disguise, creating an environment free from noise pollution and allowing visitors to truly immerse themselves in the tranquility of nature. The only means of transportation here are horse-drawn carriages and bicycles, which further adds to the quaint and nostalgic ambiance of the place. Strolling along the narrow lanes lined with colonial-era bungalows, lush gardens, and vibrant marketplaces, one can't help but feel transported to a bygone era of simplicity and leisure. The local residents of Matheran are warm and welcoming, always ready to assist visitors with a smile. The simplicity and genuine hospitality of the locals make the experience all the more delightful. The local cuisine, including Maharashtrian delicacies and street food, is a treat for the taste buds, providing an opportunity to savor the authentic flavors of the region. While Matheran offers a peaceful and relaxing escape, it is worth noting that the infrastructure in the hill station is basic. The accommodations range from budget guesthouses to heritage hotels, providing simple yet comfortable lodging options. However, those seeking luxury and modern amenities may find the choices limited. One of the few drawbacks of Matheran is its popularity as a tourist destination. During peak seasons, the influx of tourists can lead to overcrowding and a loss of the serene atmosphere that the hill station is known for. To fully enjoy the tranquility, it is advisable to plan a visit during weekdays or during the off-peak seasons. In conclusion, Matheran's timeless beauty, unspoiled landscapes, and refreshing simplicity make it a captivating destination for nature enthusiasts and those seeking an escape from the chaos of city life. Its breathtaking vistas, pedestrian-friendly environment, and warm hospitality create an experience that lingers long in the memory. Despite a few limitations, Matheran remains a haven for those seeking solace in nature's embrace.

Vikatgad Peb Fort, an ancient stronghold situated on the Matheran Hill range, is a hilltop citadel accessible via a popular monsoon hike amidst lush vegetation and cascading waterfalls. Located 5 km away from the city center, it ranks among the top attractions in Matheran with its close proximity to nature's scenic beauty in the Western Ghats. This fort serves as a coveted trekking destination and weekend getaway for enthusiasts.
One of the beautiful trek one best scenic view on the way on the top you will get Mandir little bit risky as well in rainy be careful look easy and beautiful but dangerous as well adventures you have to get down at Neral Station have to take taxi from station take 100rs per person will drop you at railway where it start

Vikatgad or commonly known as Peb Fort, is a hill fort in Matheran mountain range. The trek has two routes, one from Fanaswadi in Neral and other one from the Matheran Toy Train track route. We took the toy train track route this time and it was quite scenic. All along the way you get to enjoy foggy views, water streams and valley views. The trail to the top is a narrow cliffside walk with some slippery patches and ladders, but not much to worry about. Can reach the top easily in 2 hours. On the top there is a temple and you get panoramic views of surroundings. A great trek to do in monsoon.
Ankit P — Google review
Wonderful trekking destination near Matheran — perfect for beginners trekkers. The trail offers a mix of lush greenery, rocky patches, and scenic views of surrounding valleys. During the monsoon, the entire route becomes magical with flowing streams and misty hills. The fort has caves, a small temple and a flag point offering breathtaking views. The trek takes around 2.5–3 hours from the base village Neral. Or you can park your car in Matheran parking and start walking along with Neral Rail patari. Overall, Peb Fort is an amazing weekend adventure for nature and trek lovers — peaceful, scenic, and full of positive energy. 🌿⛰️

#वाटाड्या #विकटगड #पेब #माथेरान विकटगड The original name Vikatgad is not widely known, and the fort is better recognized by the significant role it once played — as the "Peb Fort." Most people know it by this name. Situated in the Matheran hill range, this fort was used as a "pevi" (granary) during the establishment of Swarajya (the Maratha self-rule). The nearby major forts — Chanderi and Tahuli — are extremely difficult to climb, making it impractical to store large quantities of grain there. As an alternative, it was decided to store the grain on Vikatgad due to a strategic advantage: before the British became rulers of India, the only access route to this fort was from the village of Neral. This path passed through dense and deceptive forest, which made it easier to defend the fort. Because of this natural protection, Vikatgad was chosen to serve as the main granary, and from there, the stored grain could be quickly transported to the other two forts and to Prabalgad when needed. Over time, the fort came to be known not as a granary (pevi), but as Peb Fort. This name likely evolved due to the nearby temple of Pebi Devi located at the base of the fort, influencing the linguistic shift from pevi to peb. Later, the British declared Matheran as a tourist destination and built roads and railway tracks through the hills to facilitate transport. As a result, the final stretch leading to the fort became easier to access. Since there was no gate on this side of the fort, iron ladders were installed near the fort walls, close to the railway tracks, making the climb easier. Using this route, one can reach the fort in about an hour and a half. Today, the old granaries atop the fort have been transformed into the Math (monastery) and meditation temple of Swami Samarth.

Great place to visit in monsoon season. Medium to Hard trek with beautiful scenery. 🏃🏻‍♂️🚩 Total Trek Time -5-7 Hours.
Vaibhav V — Google review
This is a very friendly and beginner-friendly trek for first-time trekkers based in Matheran, near Mumbai. The difficulty level is very easy to moderate. At the top, there’s a small temple dedicated to Swami Samarth, and the viewpoint offers a mesmerizing view of Matheran. The trails are scenic, and it’s best to visit during monsoon to enjoy the greenery and rains.☔ Friendly advice: If you’re planning to go on a weekend, start early in the morning to avoid the crowd. Going late means dealing with huge crowds, taxi rush, and you won’t really get to enjoy the time or the view.. :')))
Aditya S — Google review
We took the trekking route from Phanaswadi (Neral), and at certain points, the climb was quite challenging for us. One major mistake we made was not checking the weather forecast beforehand, which resulted in trekking through continuous rainfall. I highly recommend checking the weather conditions before planning your trip. Also, if you're a beginner, I would suggest starting with an easier trek, as this one can be quite demanding. Also, a small tip: carry some chocolates in your bag, they help maintain your sugar levels and provide quick energy, especially at higher altitudes.

Beautiful Amazing Place...Just before the most touristy area of Matheran get down on the way at Vikatgad and trek to Hand printed Ganpati and High Endurance Trek to Peb fort... Its secluded, serene and peaceful. Also dont forget to carry water, edibles as there are hardly and shop on the way. Must visit..Nearby Treks which is worth visiting. Can Go solo or with group.. Vikatgad can be done in an hour but for peb fort it will take nearly 3 to 4hrs for the round journey.

Matheran offers an exciting opportunity for horse riding, which is not only a means of transportation but also a fun activity for adventurous visitors. The cost of the horse ride depends on the distance and duration, allowing you to explore various routes each day during your stay in Matheran. As the main drop station from Aman Lodge, it provides access to hotels, shops, and food options before embarking on trekking or horseback riding towards the main attractions.
Very systematic process for ticket booking. Journey is superb. No advance booking or online reservation, just 4 tickets per person max. Every ticket with seat number is provided. Seats are very comfortable. Rs 45/- ticket for 2nd class for adult. First class could be rs. 305/- due to which may be first class not booked fully. Booking of ticket starts just 45 minutes before the schedule time of train.
Moreshwar K — Google review
I never really understood what harassment of customers felt like until I met some horse carriers over here. Initially, they started on their own, following our car all the way to the parking area. They began telling us about the viewpoints inside and insisted that horses were the only way to get around. We said we preferred to walk, but they started mocking us, saying things like, “If you had to walk, then why did you even come to Matheran?” We ignored it and started moving forward, but they kept following us. From the entry ticket counter to the nearby horse stand, they continued saying how genuine they were and that we could pay only after the trip. This went on for another 20 minutes. During that time, they kept dropping their prices—from ₹1600, to ₹1200, then ₹1000, and finally down to ₹500 per person. They were not letting us move ahead freely, and soon their entire group started forcing us. At one point, we felt a little scared because they were a bunch of guys, they had seen our car, and we were worried they might cause some harm. Somehow, we managed to move ahead, and to our relief, we saw e-rickshaws available with a small queue, as well as trains. Inside, there are plenty of ways to travel, and I would strongly suggest not taking a horse ride. You won’t enjoy it as much as walking, taking the train, or an e-rickshaw. Plus, the attitude of these horse owners is enough to spoil the trip. We chose to walk through the tracks and pathways, and honestly, it felt like the best decision.

This is the main drop station of matheran from aman lodge. Here many hotels, shop, foods are available after that you can start main trekking towards main visit point by walking or by taking the horse from here also. Washroom he just opposite to station behind the blue engine. Absolutely amazing hill station must visit once in monsoon for beautiful view of clouds. This place is pollution free zone because no vehicles are allowed here except the toy train. Very good place for weekend for mumbaikars and for the pune people’s. one is enough to visit but should come on early basis to visit fully with peacefully.

Absolutely amazing. As Matheran is a hill station, you either need to reach there by a private vehicle or by train. They provide a narrow gauge toy train service till Matheran hills. There is a straight forward process. Ticket counter opens approx. 1 hour before the train scheduled time. Just buy the ticket outright from the ticket window. No advance booking or reservations. The journey from this toy train is more memorable than actual destination. If you visit in monsoon, then it will be even more pleasant.

The Peb Fort, also known as Vikatgad, is a captivating trekking destination nestled in the Matheran Hill range. Named after the Goddess Pebi Devi, this ancient fort stands at an impressive altitude of 2,050 feet and offers breathtaking views of surrounding landmarks like Chanderi Fort and Nakhind Hill. The trek to Peb Fort begins from Neral and follows a charming narrow-gauge railway line leading into Matheran.
Peb fort, also known as Vikatgad, rises to a maximum altitude of 2,050 ft and was primarily used as a granary and watchtower by the ruling armies. The strategic location of the hill provides a commanding view of Chanderi fort, Nakhind hill, Malanggad, Tahuli, Prablagad, Kalavantin & Matheran plateau in clear weather. Located approximately 80 km from Mumbai and less than 120 km Pune, it’s conveniently accessible by public transport. With five different trails of varying difficulty and length, Peb fort is the ideal trek for anyone looking for a good excursion close to Matheran. The unique location of the hill affords it a panoramic view of the entire Matheran range. A temple has been constructed at the top of the fort and is believed to shelter the footprints of Swami Samarth. Be aware of the monkeys though. If you can brave them, a splendid sight awaits you! One of the fascinating features of the fort is the unique narrow approach to the top. If you are climbing it from the North, then a easy grade rock patch has to be tackled to reach the top. On the other hand, if you have reached the fort from Matheran end, then a rickety ladder overlooking the deep valley stands between you and the temple! Matheran is home to abundant flora and fauna and there’s no better time to experience it than the monsoon. An opportunity to combine a lovely walk along the Matheran valley with the Peb fort trek, makes it even more alluring! Peb fort is a one day trek. However, it can also be done as camping trek with an overnight stay in the cave or by pitching a tent on the southern bastion. We have listed down some of the most prominent routes to the top of Peb fort along with an indicative itinerary for each: The trail originates from the bustling town of Neral, about 80 kms from Mumbai. The trek itself can be divided into two sections- the first stretch is a walk on the tar road from Neral to the base village, Anandwadi. You can also hire an autorickshaw to cover this stretch. The second half of the trek is a steep but incredibly rewarding climb from Anandwadi all the way to Matheran.

Matheran Hill Station is a car-free resort located on a wooded mountain plateau near Mumbai, Maharashtra. It's about 90 km from Mumbai and offers activities such as hiking with breathtaking views, riding on the toy train, and visiting Charlotte Lake. The hill station provides a pollution-free environment with fresh air and lush greenery during the rainy season. Visitors are advised to bring appropriate footwear, raincoats in the rainy season, warm clothes in winter, and some cash due to limited network coverage.
Great place to visit and explore. Absolutely! The lush greenery, misty atmosphere, nd that stunning waterfall cascading down the cliff make this place look magical. It feels like the perfect spot for trekking, photography, or just soaking in the beauty of nature. Really love IT ❤️
SUMANT M — Google review
Matheran is one of the most peaceful hill stations I’ve visited. The fact that no vehicles are allowed makes it even more refreshing—no honking, no pollution, just the sound of birds and rustling leaves. Walking through the red mud paths surrounded by lush greenery felt like stepping back in time. Echo Point and Charlotte Lake were my favorites, especially at sunset. I visited Matheran during the monsoon, and it was an unforgettable experience. The forest was lush, waterfalls were everywhere, and clouds literally floated around us. Yes, the muddy trails can be slippery, but the beauty makes it worth it. Carry good shoes and raincoats—it’s a true adventure! My trip to Matheran was wonderful, but travelers should be prepared: a lot of walking, limited mobile network, and basic facilities compared to other tourist spots. But that’s exactly the beauty of it—it forces you to disconnect and soak in nature. If you want peace and simplicity, Matheran won’t disappoint.

Travel Dates: 2nd & 3rd Oct 2025 | Pune to Matheran Trip We started our journey from Pune at 5:00 AM and reached Dasturi Naka by 8:45 AM, with a quick breakfast break at Khopoli. From there, we took the toy train from Aman Lodge at 9:35 AM to Matheran. A word of advice — carrying 1-2 heavy bags is manageable in the toy train, but more than that can be difficult due to limited space in the bogie. Kuli (a porter) are available at parking. They takes your language at hotel directly. If you missed the train Inwould suggest if you have energy and enthusiastic then just follow train track till your hotel. You will surely enjoy that walk. We had pre-booked Hotel Devadkar, which is ideally located right in the heart of the market — directly opposite Matheran railway station. Very convenient! We explored all major points in Matheran without using horses. If you enjoy nature walks and are comfortable walking around 5-6 km a day, you can easily cover all the viewpoints in two days. The scenic trails and peaceful surroundings made it a memorable experience. Highly recommended for nature lovers and walkers!

Matheran is one of those rare places that feels like stepping back in time. Tucked away in Maharashtra’s Western Ghats, it’s Asia’s only automobile-free hill station, which means no honking cars or buzzing bikes — just fresh air, red mud paths, and the sound of nature all around. The journey itself sets the mood. You can either trek up, take a toy train (when it’s running), or hire a horse ride or e-rickshaw once inside. Each path has its own charm, but what makes Matheran truly special are its viewpoints. From Echo Point to Panorama Point and lesser-known gems like Myra Point, every turn opens up to sweeping views of valleys, waterfalls, and endless greenery. During monsoons, the mist rolling over the cliffs makes it even more magical. The vibe here is unhurried and peaceful. You’ll find small local stalls selling hot corn, cutting chai, and pakoras that taste extra good in the cool weather. Walking through the shaded forest trails feels refreshing, and the lack of vehicles makes it an ideal place to just wander without worry. Matheran isn’t about rushing from spot to spot. It’s about slowing down — sitting by a viewpoint, watching the clouds drift, or simply enjoying the earthy smell of the red soil after rain. It’s perfect for couples, families, or even solo travelers looking for a quick break from the chaos of Mumbai or Pune. If you’re looking for a short getaway that combines natural beauty, peace, and old-world charm, Matheran deserves a place on your list. It may not have the luxury of bigger hill stations, but it makes up for it with raw, simple, and soul-soothing experiences.

Not a relief from the scorching sun of Mumbai. I won't say a must visit hill station place but for people can have a small get away for a day. There are not may shops and they usually open late in the morning. The breakfast points have good Gujarati and South Indian food. There are few restaurants offering nonveg foods. Commute might be an issue. And beware of monkeys 😅

We loved walking the red mud paths and discovering the stunning viewpoints like Louisa Point. A major highlight was seeing all the horses with their wonderfully epic names—it truly added to the old-world charm! A must-visit for nature lovers. Be prepared to walk or enjoy a horse ride!

If you truly want to experience jungle life, this destination is a hidden gem. In metro cities, life feels like it’s always running — but here, time slows down, and every moment feels magical. During my visit, I was mesmerized by the natural beauty. Trekking through the lush greenery, breathing in the fresh air, and soaking in the peaceful surroundings was an unforgettable experience. The place is free from heavy pollution due to its height above sea level, and since no gasoline vehicles are allowed at the top, everyone must walk — making it feel pure and untouched. The chirping of birds, the cool breeze, and the panoramic views make this place a true paradise for nature lovers. 🔑 Travel & Safety Tip: Always carry water, light snacks, and a small first-aid kit. Travel in groups if possible, and avoid late-night walks in forest areas for safety.
Nijamuddin S — Google review
A beautiful tucked away hill station with its pomp and grandeur marred by pony walas swindling off the rates which led to the temporary closure of the place. Best time to go there is during the monsoons. Winter is also good when we visited the place, but a huge crowd and traffic jam marred the experience. Best point view... Near by matheran railway station... You can also see the grabbett Plateau in the left side of the point.... Best place for night tent 🎪 without fire.... Tent placing is at your own risk... But it gave a nice night.... But be safe... Don't make camp fire because heavy wind so it can spread.... Enjoy the night life in the hill... Wake up early and see the nature beauty and sunrise on the mountains

We will almost similar view as in Khandala Point. But this is worth visiting and one can cover the entire Matheran in one day. The Main points to visit are Alexander Point, Khandala point,One tree hill point,Louisa Point and Sunset Point. All are attractive during monsoon and before November
Shiva — Google review
Though my pictures are of off season's and also off time's as this point is famous for sunrise view...this is one of the maintenance points in Matheran..if possible try to go here @ time of sunrise ..damn sure you would love it.
Sourav G — Google review
The ghodawallas might not bring you to this point because of their nexus, but DO visit this place. It's just a few minutes' walk away from the market. A local guy Sujay Bhosale runs a stall there along with stargazing and overnight camping facilities. Definitely worth the nature trail hike to this place!
Irene K — Google review
Must visit this point when you are in matheran! The view from here is makes you nostalgic. There are two trails from the main market, one takes you to Alexander point and 6 other points that is on left side straight! Where as the other one is on the right hand side which takes you to echo point and 4 other points. Meanwhile you can reach from one point to other From both of the trails. Charlotte lake comes in between. The straight trail on left side is more longer one and the horse riders don't prefer it. You will find very less people follow this trail . Most of the people reach here from Charlotte lake and that really cuts so much distance. I must say visit matheran in the monsoon and it's a heaven of Maharashtra, the beauty of Western ghats. Smallest hill. station .

All greenery best view, don't know why they named Alexander point.surounded by mountains, inside Matheran little far from Matheran main market.15 min walkable.its ok if you don't take the horse ride and hand rickshas, natural view.beware of Monkey.yellow color is favorite for Monkeys. Don't hold any yellow colour items in your hand.they like maza as a drink very much.

Rambaug Point is a delightful spot where one can witness the majestic beauty of the rising sun. As you wait patiently, the gentle rays slowly infuse energy into your day until the Sun presents itself in all its magnificence. Indulge in a delicious bowl of steaming maggi accompanied by a cup of tea while anticipating this natural spectacle. This location offers an awe-inspiring panoramic vista that is simply breathtaking.
This is a great spot for sunrise though we missed it in the morning, we got here in the evening and it was still super nice. Love the silence here. The beauty of the ghats really comes alive here, be careful if you’re heading down. And after sundown there are no lights around so please make sure to time it well.

One of the key view points in Matheran. Also called Sunrise Point. Was told the Sunrise looks really good from here. However didn’t get chance to check this as we had reached this point a bit late in the day. It’s nice and breezy here. No food stall here.

Nice Place to see Sunrise from the Hill, but not as scenic as Panorama Point. If one has to truly obsessed by Nature and want real beauty of Sunrise then visit Panorama Point in the early Morning around 6:00' O clock.
KIRAN S — Google review
Recently visited point in the monsoon season... climate is superb... rain & foggy weather make it absolutely mesmerizing....due to rain sunrise is not possible but I enjoyed the good time here ...

Great trekk, will call it easy. Traile were misleading at some places so please do follow markings marked on the stones if there is multiple ways see the rocks nearby if there is no rock see bottles hanging from trees or cloth tied to branches for the direction. Good trekking shoes recommended and rain coat compulsory.

This trek is test of your endurance specially in summer days. We lost one trail and wasted half hr. (Take left after one open area. Check for red arrows and a ribbon for turn) We started at 7 and it took us 3 hours to reach the main top portion. On left you can go towards Kalavantin Durg View Point. On Right Side you will find ruins on Wada, Ganesh Mandir. Further 1km ahead there are few points that can be covered.

It's a medium difficult trek. Local people are good and helpful. Carry good shoes and full trackpant/ Jeans, avoid wearing shorts while trekking. You will get a stay option like tents /Rooms. Overall it's a good experience
Inteyaz S — Google review
Beautiful place, but people are very very irresponsible and littering everywhere! Even villagers are throwing trash everywhere! Moderate level trek and the end is too steep. Nearest to Mumbai and worth doing!
Priyam — Google review
Loved it here. The trek was hard. We started the trek at 9 and reached the summit at 1:30. However we were all relaxed and enjoying ourselves. Take your own water bottles for the trek.
