Church
San Giovanni Battista is a must-see in Loano, with its main highlight being the Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista. The church, also known as the Duomo or Cupolone, features a decagonal plan and a striking bronze dome reaching 50 meters in height. Inside, visitors can admire impressive works of art. While the exterior may not be as beautiful, the interior is definitely worth exploring.
Wonderful architecture

A very unique and interesting church in the centre of Loano. It is dedicated to San Giovanni Battista. It is very large and has a unique shape- not many churches are shaped like this one. It has a beautiful interior too!

(Translated by Google) But how beautiful it is! It's a must see! The feeling that comes out when you enter is truly special... it's a wow! Or an ah though! I can't explain it in words... the sensations... the emotions... you have to feel them! And then outside there is a fantastic Christmas tree and a play of lights on the external floor which has a unique effect! (Original) Ma che bella è! È da vedere assolutamente! (Translated by Google) A church that obviously attracts you with its unusual round shape. Inside, it's beautiful, finely decorated, and has many altars. The truly striking part is when you look up and see the dome, which gives it a sense of immensity. At night, seeing it illuminated by the external lights makes it fascinating. Palazzo Doria, formerly known as Palazzo dei Signori and now serving as the town hall, is a stunning building located in a unique setting. Situated on a circular piazza, it is surrounded by the Oratorio di rostra Signora del Rosario and the Duomo, creating a picturesque atmosphere. Marina Beach Loano is a popular destination known for its accessibility and family-friendly atmosphere. The Spiaggia Libera di Pietra Ligure offers a picturesque setting for various leisure activities, while the Spiaggia libera attrezzata provides a tranquil environment with salty water. Additionally, Marina Beach caters to dog owners, offering an area specifically designated for dogs to enjoy the beach alongside their owners.

(Translated by Google) We recently visited the Marina Beach Dog Beach in Loano, attracted by the image of elegance and care conveyed on the official website and social media channels. Unfortunately, the reality is far from what is promised. The only real positive is the ability to bathe with your dog (on a leash) at any time of the day, a rare and much appreciated feature. But otherwise, the experience was deeply disappointing. Management is completely lacking: I witnessed kids from public beaches playing soccer in the dog area, endangering their dogs and disturbing other guests, without anyone intervening. The manager only showed up to collect the advance payment for the stay. The hygienic conditions were appalling: dirty sunbeds, broken or missing wooden walkways, and even trash and food scraps inside the container that supposedly serves as a safe, complete with a broken lock. Unlike other beaches, no one rearranges the loungers when the tide rises: you're left abandoned among debris, trash, and stagnant puddles, with no intervention from the staff (which is nonexistent on the beach). The umbrellas are positioned askew, and there's no trace of the level of service that normally distinguishes a quality beach: no assistance, no care, no welcome. To complete the picture, a small kiosk sells Spritz and Americano (cocktails purchased by me) for €8, in plastic cups, of course. Nothing like the idea of comfort or refinement they try to convey online. All this for a cost of about €50 a day. Personally, I would have paid double, but only if the service had truly lived up to the elite image they try to project. As it is, it's just a neglected beach, living off social media. A wasted opportunity, and an experience I wouldn't recommend to anyone seeking quality and respect for their customers.

Nestled along the picturesque seafront promenade, Museo del Mare is a hidden gem managed by dedicated volunteers from the Lodanum association. This charming museum offers free entry, inviting visitors to explore its extensive collection of naval models, diving suits, photographs, and various nautical artifacts. Even during evening strolls, you might stumble upon this delightful spot—like many who have walked past it without noticing its allure. The atmosphere is vibrant; on occasion, dance lessons fill the corridors with energy.

The large and well-kept internal cloister, uncommon in Liguria, is absolutely worth visiting. There is a small shop inside which also serves to cover the expenses of the convent where you can find small objects of worship, brochures, the famous Carmel jams and compotes, honey and herbal teas and even digestive liqueurs. Although monumental, it is simple in its façade, internal structure and decoration, the dominant colour is white, very relaxing, facilitating prayer and meditation. The statue of the Madonna del Carmelo, much venerated, and the chapel with the statue of the Infant Jesus of Prague are splendid. On the right, a door leads to the Orti del Carmelo, an old shop where you can buy fruit jams, original in their composition, also with hazelnuts, chocolate and almonds, produced by the friars, soaps with the most varied aromas, citrus shower soap, wine, limoncello and other liqueurs, produced by the friars (Original) La chiesa è stata fondata nel 1609 dai coniugi Doria e Colonna, di cui si vedono le insegne all' interno del luogo di culto, per devozione alla Madonna del Monte Carmelo. (Translated by Google) Super establishment. The beach is deep, the umbrellas turn and fold to better cover the sun, children can run around and play any game anywhere, without causing any discomfort to anyone given the large spaces available. The extension of the establishment allows access to two different "parts of the sea": on one side, that of the games, the water is shallow and the bottom is sandy, on the other the bottom is stony and more suitable for long swims. The dishes offered can be ordered by 11am because they arrive from their hotel, they have negligible prices compared to the average while maintaining high quality and large quantities. The staff and the owners make a big difference, they are all truly exceptional. We will definitely return, hoping to find the same managers again because they are unique, irreplaceable (Original) Stabilimento Super.

As for the castle, it was not possible to visit because it is closed, but from what we could see from the outside, it seems to have been abandoned for years, with a neglected garden. No one answers the bell at the gate! I later discovered it is a FAI site, fortunately the other sites are not in such a state of neglect. I can't say anything about the interior. A real shame after the walk required to get there; finding at least two signs from the entrance would be helpful. Porta Passorino Stephen is a charming old town gate with a clock dating back to 1744, located in Loano. The building has been completely restored and is surrounded by various clubs and bazaars. It stands halfway along a passage lined with small shops offering a variety of goods, from food to clothing.
A nice clock tower located in the centre of Loano. It was built by former King of Sardegna Victor of Savoy. It is beautifully decorated with baroque art and architecture. The bells still ring today. Sadly you cannot visit it- though I heard they were planning a museum in the future which would allow access to some rooms in the tower

No need for tickets This wonderful clock tower was built by King Victor Amadeus III of Sardegna. He was born in 1726 and died in 1796 and was king of Sardegna from 1773-1796. The clock tower has a be which rings once every 30 minutes and the number of times the hour strikes (12 for 12 pm) the last toll of the bell every day is as late as 10:30. The facade depicts a crest age 2 large cannons drawn on both sides, the clock tower has a peach colour and fancy baroque style architecture in honour for the king. There is a plaque on one side saying who made it and when. Once you go under the arch, there is a door that can access the tower, sadly you can’t enter it for your safety
