The museum also houses the Nobel prize document and provides insights into Sardinian culture. It presents a unique opportunity to experience the atmosphere of Deledda's kitchen and witness her creative process firsthand.
Great place, just don’t expect any English explanations

It is inspiring to think about this exceptional woman who was born in Nuoro around 150 years ago and became a famuous writer.

If you are not able to understand Italian, don’t go there. Paid 5€ only to hear from this smirking fellow behind the counter that no headset is available, all the texts are in Italian and no translation is available, also no QR code. If you want to visit museums in Nuoro where you will feel welcome; visit the Museo del costume, Museo della ceramica or the Museo archeologico.

Wonderful glimpse into the writer's life: quotes, letters, historical facts and objects displayed neatly, some ethnographic objects from her times and even the Nobel prize document. Loved it.
Tamara M — Google review
It seemed v good and interesting but the staff at the entrance were v unfriendly and unwelcoming. It would have been useful if there had just been an information sheet - just a page in English. Also although it was opening time the door was closed. Turns out you have to ring the bell to be let in.

You can't get closer to the Sardegnian culture.... feels like you step in her kitchen, while she's cooking....or be honoured to witness while she's writing the best lyrics...

The Sagra/Festa del Redentore in Nuoro is a captivating event that takes place in the last week of August. The festival features an evocative procession showcasing traditional costumes from all over Sardinia, culminating in a journey on foot to the summit of Mount Ortobene. Visitors can expect to witness a spectacular parade of traditional Sardinian costumes, horses, and dancing.

MAN Museo d'arte della Provincia di Nuoro, established in 1999, showcases contemporary art through rotating exhibitions, lectures, and workshops. Every three months, the museum presents new exhibitions featuring diverse subjects such as street photography, Italian Futurism, Paul Klee, and Russian avant-garde. Visitors can also explore side-exhibitions highlighting Sardinian contemporary artists. The museum's small yet modern installations have received praise for their beauty and originality.
Went in Aug 2024 and enjoyed the Diorama exhibition. The museum is not large but the exhibition was well put together and thought provoking. Tickets were €5 each, which was appropriate.

Tribu Spazio per le Arti - Museo Ciusa, managed by MAN, offers a glimpse into life in Nuoro during the 20th century through the remarkable sculptures of Francesco Ciusa and an extensive collection of paintings by Sardinian artists. The museum aims to evoke strong emotions and transport visitors to a rugged, passionate Sardinia of the early 1900s.
(Translated by Google) Both the sculptural collection that gives its name to the museum and the "Sardinia '900" collection are beautiful!

Came to Nuoro to see this museum specially. Both the guidebook and website said it would be open. It wasn't. Really annoying. See now from other reviews that it has been closed for 2 years possibly. Terrible way to treat people genuinely interested in local artists. Badly done Nuoro - will not return.

(Translated by Google) Works and exhibition speak for themselves. Some museum display choices reveal the intention of wanting to provoke a strong emotional impact on the viewer that transports him to a Sardinia of the early 1900s that is rude, strong and passionate and capable of facing the great social problems of the time with courage. Mario Delitala's work absolutely needs to be moved, forced into a space that is too narrow for its size. To be visited while calmly reflecting on each work.

(Translated by Google) Amazed. This is the adjective that best describes my state of mind at the end of this approximately two-hour guided tour of the closed museum. The museum preserves the works of one of Nuoro's most important artists, who with his soft lines expresses the weaknesses and characteristics of the human soul. The museum is located near the cathedral, in what was the ancient court, and in addition to the artist's beautiful works, it hosts temporary collections such as the ciceri collection, or stanis dessy. The price of €2 is negligible if you think that the guided tour is free and especially if it is done by Cristian, a well-prepared young man who knows how to convey all his passion. (Original) Stupefatto.

(Translated by Google) Nothing to complain about the exhibition space, the kindness of the staff and Ciusa was a discovery. In addition to this, the cost of 5 euros for the Maria Lai exhibition at MAN and the visit to TRIBU is very limited. There are sore points but strictly speaking they do not strictly fall within the evaluation of the museum, first: does it make sense in Nuoro to have two separate museums of modern and contemporary art? Is it possible that there isn't a single suitable space to be found? today we need 4 people to keep it open and the tickets will only minimally cover the staff costs. Secondly connected to the first point is that the opening hours include a significant closure for lunch, tourists in Nuoro mostly come for day trips and after lunch I saw at least a dozen tourists, like me, wandering around like souls waiting in the center of town waiting for anything to open. Wouldn't it be better to avoid the afternoon closing and perhaps bring forward the evening closing?
Alessandro S — Google review
(Translated by Google) My evaluation is negative, because after consulting the site, on 2 June 2018, after a "not short" trip from Cagliari with some friends, we had the unpleasant surprise of finding the Tribu closed. I don't know who it depends on, but at least make sure you update the site! It would be even better if the Museum were reopened...

(Translated by Google) World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5th. #WorldEnvironmentDay 🌻🌳☘️ An opportunity to remember the importance of safeguarding the health of the environment, but above all an encouragement to take care of it all together. There are places, I like to define them as ❤️, which despite the years that pass, for the love of the people who live and look after them, remain intact. One of these is #MonteOrtobene in #Nuoro, for the people of Nuoro it is simply "Su Monte", the Mount, and not just a small mountain easily reachable from the city. But "Su Monte" as well as offering an antidote to the summer heat, offers emotions, because these are the places of the unforgettable Grazia Deledda. "It is not true that Ortobene can be compared to other mountains; Ortobene is only one in the whole world: it is our heart, it is our soul, our character, everything that is big and small, sweet and hard and harsh and painful in us" (Original) Il #5giugno si celebra La Giornata mondiale dell’ambiente.

Nuraghe Tanca Manna is a beautiful archaeological site located practically in the center of Nuoro. It's open for visits from 3pm to 6pm, offering a nice view over a part of the city and Mount Ortobene. This prenuraghe has a square base instead of the typical circular one, making it unique. Although some information signs are worn out, it's still worth a visit for its historical significance and excellent views.

The Museo del Costume Nuoro, renovated in 2016, is a treasure trove of Sardinian folklore. It showcases an unparalleled collection of filigree jewelry, carpets, tapestries, rich embroidery, musical instruments, weapons and masks. The highlight is the traditional costume display which reflects the unique styles and patterns of different villages. From fiery red skirts to Armenian-influenced dresses and burka-like headdresses, each item tells a story about the people and their heritage.
Absolutely amazing collection of traditional ceremonial clothing and textiles, in addition to other items -- especially blown away by the HUNDREDS of samples of intricate ceremonial breads.

Amazing little museum. There are 7 rooms on one side covering everything from the history of Sardinia to bread making to lace and textiles and upstairs from that is a clothing and jewelry section. The last room is on the other side of the museum outside and down some stairs. It has musical instruments and festival masks and amazing wooly fleece costumes with lots of bells. There is parking in front of the museum. It's closed between 1pm and 3pm. The displays are in Italian but there are QR codes in every room for transitions into English.
Natalya M — Google review
Great museum of costumes of Sardinia. In addition to Rooms 1-9, make sure you go to Room 10 which is in a separate part of the building, where there is more information about the Mamuthones, masks and music.

Spacious museum which is not purely costume related. Ground floor covers history of island with clear displays and text in Italian. Audio version in other languages. Extensive costumes on upper floor. Adjacent building shows video relating to feast of St Anthony. Parking tricky but good opportunity to explore the area looking for a space.

Must see! One of the highlights of my trip to Sardinia. Text is all physically in Italian but available in English online by scanning the QR codes in each room. Free wifi available. Allow yourself a couple of hours in there at a minimum. We only had an hour and didn’t get chance to see everything. Fascinating displays, the information and history of weaving was my favourite. There is absolutely so much stuff here! When you think you’ve seen everything in a room there are further drawers to open. We came in the afternoon on a weekday and it was very quiet. We were able to purchase tickets at the desk with card.

During my recent weekend getaway, I had the pleasure of visiting the Complesso Nuragico e Nuraghe di Noddule, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The highlight of my visit was Mario, the resident archaeologist, whose enthusiasm for this historical site is contagious. He took the time to share a wealth of knowledge about its rich history in both Italian and English, making sure that everyone could appreciate its significance.
This is a truly magical and sacred place! It was like walking in a magical garden als nature was in full bloom. The sites and especially the ancient and sacred water temple is very special. Including the architecture! Mario (the keeper of the place) was very kind and helpful!

Had an incredible weekend visit here. Mario is the resident archeologist and he provided a- very detailed history of this site in both Italian and English. Mario really made this experience special, he has an incredible passion for the history of this place and took 30 minutes to provide us with loads of fascinating information before we headed out to explore the site independently. The ruin is well cared for and experience made so much better having the history explained to us before viewing. Thank you Mario! Tom & Robin

Really interesting site. The guy working there gave a good and detailed explanation of the history of the place, which is not yet fully excavated. The parts that are is super interesting and impressive. The walk around the site does not take long, and is well worth a stop or detour. I will come back when, hopefully, the site is further excavated.

We are glad to have seen these beautiful Nuraghe. Mario is really enthusiastic about the story of the Nuraghe and he does these job with pleasure. We probably wouldn't have got such a good guide in other places and also less information. He was responsive to us and answered our questions. We learned a lot of new things and Mario was able to inspire us to keep looking and to get us excited about the stories of the past. We would definitely visit again, if we get to this wonderful island again. It was certainly worth the 28 euros for four people with guide. Thank you Mario for letting us visit this beautiful place.

We discovered Noddule by accident. It is a great historical area that hopefully can sie out more of the ancient buildings that are still hidden in the ground. When we arrived one of the archeologist explained us every little bit of the Area and what we should Look for in great detail. Hopefully we can discover even more of the hidden gems in some years.
Max M — Google review
The tour was an amazing and beautiful experience. I usually do not visit sites with a tourist guide because they usually do not transmit you the "magical atmosphere" of the places. But in this case it was different. Mario explained everything excellently and provided the best knowledge, sharing his archeological experience. It was something different. He was able to transmit in us his passion, and his love both for history and ancient cultures. We really enjoyed it. Also Mario explained to us that he is not financed by government. It is like he is self-employed and he wants to demonstrate that he is able to bring back this ancient village to life with no council contribution. So please be generous and help him, you will not disappointed by him. A big thank you to Mario.

The Statua del Redentore is a remarkable location with breathtaking vistas of Nuoro. Many visitors opt to walk there due to limited parking spaces. While the spot offers an incredible view, it can be challenging to obtain information regarding road closures during winter or other times. (Translated by Google) Unique place in the whole city, which has always been a destination for Nuoro residents and tourists who can admire a wonderful panorama from there. There would be no need to do it again every 10/15 years.....but that's how Nuoro is, it periodically kills its past.

Ethnographic museum
ISRE - Museo etnografico is a comprehensive museum showcasing Sardinian traditions through exhibits of jewelry, traditional costumes, bread and pastry, and everyday utensils used until the first half of the XX century. The museum offers guided tours with knowledgeable guides who provide insights into the precious objects and costumes on display. Visitors can explore well-crafted reconstructions and gain an understanding of Sardinian traditions throughout the year and life cycles.
Definitely a must when in Nuoro. Not a big museum but just big enough to give an overview of the history of Sardinia. It was also interesting to learn more about the different breads they serve/bake and to see the traditional clothes they wear.

(Translated by Google) Can be used independently, but I recommend a guided tour. Competent guides who capture attention by describing the precious objects and costumes and offering further information and curiosities. It is worth visiting if you want to get the zest of Sardinian traditions through the cycle of the year and the cycle of life. Ask for a guided tour, it is highly recommended (Original) Fruibile in autonomia, ma consiglio la visita guidata. (Translated by Google) In its genre, very well done museum. The reconstructions are of good quality and we have an interesting time exploring the rooms. Too bad the languages are limited, website included, to Italian and English. In each room, there is a QRCode to access the description of the room. (Translated by Google) The museum is really well done, in every little detail. The room is dedicated to the history of Sardinia, starting from the Middle Ages to the present day, the evolution of the island and its inhabitants is told. Moving forward you find other rooms which describe, through life-size reconstructions, activities of daily life: housework, fishing, hunting and work in the fields. A large room is dedicated to the traditional breads of Sardinia, there are so many, it is impossible not to stop and look at them all. The room that houses the traditional costumes is beautiful, I think practically the whole island was represented. Another part of the museum is dedicated to the typical masks of Sardinia, but unfortunately I wasn't able to see that one because unfortunately the museum closes at 1pm and I reluctantly had to interrupt the visit. I will return more calmly. (Original) Il museo è veramente ben fatto, in ogni piccolo particolare.

(Translated by Google) Visit scheduled with tour operator but we were unable to enter due to extraordinary intervention... - clear intervention given the vehicle parked outside ... it could have been done on another day... like Monday which is closed?? there is an auditorium: you should organize at least a virtual tour with videos of each room so that the guides can carry out the presentations Luckily our guide was very good (Original) Visura programmata con tour operator ma non siamo potuti entrare per intervento straordinario...- intervento chiaro visto il mezzo oarcheggiato in esterno ...si poteva fare in altro giorno...tipo lunedì che è giorno di chiusura??c'è un auditorium :dovreste organizzarvi almeno con un tour virtuale con filmati di ogni sala in modo che le guide possano adempiere con le presentazioni Per fortuna la nostra guida è stata molto in gamba
