Island
Nature & Parks
Lokrum is an essential stop for anyone exploring Dubrovnik. This small island, just a short boat ride away from the city's old harbor, offers a blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage. Visitors can wander through pine woods, explore a botanical garden with exotic plants, stroll along shaded paths, and enjoy stunning views of Dubrovnik and the open sea. The island also features an old Benedictine monastery that now houses a restaurant, adding to its historical charm.
Great place to visit. beautiful island with great history. amazing places to swim. easy to spend a day there . and I got to sit on the Iron throne (from game of thrones) great views of Dubrovnik. cafes and nice places to sit and enjoy a drink.
Vlad C — Google review
Amazing island is waiting to be discovered. We were very glad that we had the chance to visit this amazing place. With a ferry every 30 minutes you can get there early and spend the day exploring the place. The is a lot of walking to be done if you do want to explore the island but you can reward yourself with a swim either in the Dead Sea or by the rocks. There's a restaurant on the island, a cafe/ bar and another one by the lake.
Kypriopoulla — Google review
Visiting Lokrum Island was an absolute highlight of our trip to Dubrovnik. We definitely enjoyed our time on this beautiful, tranquil nature reserve. It’s the perfect, accessible escape from the Old Town crowds. Getting there is quick and straightforward. It’s just a 15-minute ferry ride from the city's Old Port. We found ticket purchasing to be easy, whether you opt to buy online or at the counter right in the port. Once on the island, you immediately feel the difference. It truly is a beautifully silent, isolated place, filled with lush greenery and the most lovely peacocks who roam the grounds freely. For activities, there are great offers to swim in the crystal-clear Adriatic, so be sure to pack your bathing suit. And for Game of Thrones fans, the Iron Throne is here! I highly recommend dedicating at least a half-day to exploring this wonderful, peaceful haven.
Lütfü C — Google review
A must visit especially for the fans of the Games of Thrones. The throne is here and many people choose to lineup for a photo opt. The ferry services to and from the island are at the old port that’s a 15 minute boat ride. The boat schedule runs every 30 minutes with two boats. The ticket sales can be purchased online or at the ticket booth. It’s 30 euros round trip including admission. You’ll find many areas to swim and enjoy the scenery. The popular swimming spots have lifeguards. There are restaurants and eateries located throughout the island. Worth a visit and less crowds here.
Melanie E — Google review
This is a magical place only 10-15 minutes boat ride from Dubrovnik port. It is a protected island and there are plenty of beautiful peacocks all around the place. For GoT lovers this is the city of Qarth. You will find maps all over the island with the important locations that you have to visit, there is a beautiful beach and a lake. The boat to the island costs 30 euros per person but you get a 20% discount if you have the city pass. Totally recommend it, you cannot miss it if you visit Dubrovnik
Nefeli P — Google review
The Island of Lokrum is a beautiful place to visit with the family. 🌿 The scenery is amazing, and it’s a great spot to swim, relax, and explore. You’ll also enjoy seeing the animals roaming around and the variety of trees and plants across the island. The only thing to keep in mind is that there’s quite a bit of walking involved 😛—so be prepared with comfortable shoes. Overall, it’s a fun, natural, and refreshing experience.
Amer H — Google review
It was fine. The trails up to the observatory are horrible and should not be attempted by anyone unfamiliar to long hikes or rough trails. The descent is no better. The beaches are rocks but the swimming appears good. They clearly want you to stay by the parts they can make money off you by their bar and cabana by the rocks. The ferry is timely and the trip is easy and quick. Overall if you can take you own boat or trip plan to spent €30 to hang out and bring drinks/snacks to hang by the water it is worth it. Otherwise save your money and just go to a beach
Colin K — Google review
We visited Lokrum Island off-season, so it wasn’t crowded at all. The boat ride from Dubrovnik itself was already an amazing experience, and the trip is definitely worth the price. The island is beautiful, lush and green, with a few cafes and restaurants to relax in. There are also plenty of spots to sunbathe and enjoy the sea. A must-visit, especially for Game of Thrones fans! And of course the peacocks😱😍🦚🏰🌊

The Rector's Palace is a stunning 14th-century Gothic-Renaissance museum filled with period furnishings and coats of arms. It also hosts a music program featuring renowned pianists. Surrounding the palace, visitors can enjoy the ornate St. Blaise's Church, the artistic reliefs of Onofrio's Fountain, and delicious coffee from Festival Cafe.
Just to note, the Rector's Palace and Cultural-Historical museum are one and the same place. The museum is inside the palace. A great & varied collection of things here. Starting with a collection of religious art you move on to portrait paintings of celebrated citizens of Dubrovnik. Then a collection of stoneworks and old wood/iron chests for storage if valuables. Don't miss the display on the ground floor of b&w photos from the war years of 1991/92. Follow the stairs upto rooms on the first floor for a fine collection of furnishings and paintings. Includes the well known oil painting "The Rape of the Sabine Women" by Pietro da Cortona.
Miles M — Google review
Rector’s palace is a must see in Dubrovnik old town. You get the chance to see probably the most historical building in the city and learn a lot about the history and the culture of the city. What most people don’t know and they don’t advertise it in the museum is that you can download the free IOS app of the museum and it has an amazing audio guide in Croatian and English. Our experience was so much better due to the audio guide and we have noticed many things that we would otherwise miss. Definitely check it out if you are in the city and make sure you buy the Dubrovnik city pass before hand since the entrance of the palace is included.
Nefeli P — Google review
I visited Rector’s Palace in Dubrovnik mainly because I’m a big Game of Thrones fan — some scenes were filmed here, which made it extra exciting. The palace itself is incredible, with a beautiful mix of Gothic and Renaissance architecture, elegant arches, grand halls, and intricate details that tell the story of Dubrovnik’s rich history. The museum inside provides insight into the city’s past, displaying artifacts, portraits, and period furniture. Depending on your interest, it can be covered in about an hour or less. It’s best to visit with the Dubrovnik Day Pass, as the entrance is included — that way you save paying extra and can combine it with other sites. Highly recommend it for history buffs, architecture lovers, and Game of Thrones fans alike.
Sayee — Google review
The Rector's Palace is absolutely a must-see destination in Dubrovnik. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here, completely captivated by the building's amazing architecture. The blend of different styles is truly beautiful and offers a deep dive into the history. The entire palace provides a wonderful insight into the city's past governance and noble life. For Game of Thrones fans, you should not miss this location. A major plus for visitors is that entry is included if you have the Dubrovnik Pass, making it fantastic value. As a bonus, the palace frequently hosts temporary exhibitions, and the war photo exhibition we saw was incredibly powerful and moving. Plan to spend at least an hour absorbing the history and beauty here.
Lütfü C — Google review
Buy the Dubrovnik Pass, it pays for the old city wall walk at 40 Euros, and you get access to many museums and attractions. Rector's Palace is one of them, right in the heart of the old city. We really enjoyed the beautiful courtyard and staircases. There's a few levels and things to see in the Palace, likely won't take more than 30min.
Mat B — Google review
A beautiful historical building, with iconic stairs and courtyards. The rooms are a little underwhelming, nothing particularly interesting in them except maybe some unique chests and a few statues. We were there maybe 30 minutes max, and a lot of that was spent admiring the stairs since we skipped the transport exhibit section after peering in. I do think €15 is steep for what it is. If it wasn’t part of the Dubrovnik pass I’m not sure I would pay to enter.
Valeria C — Google review
Fascinating Palace and museum , lots of period furniture and antiquities. Even a room dedicated to Dubrovniks former tram system. I especially liked the jars from the old pharmacy and the wonderful cabinet with all the pictures. Highly recommended, good short film about the history of Dubrovnik and the earthquake in 1667.
Peter M — Google review
This is part of the Dubrovnik Pass so we went in and were pleasantly surprised! The art work, furniture and clocks are all impressive but DO NOT MISS the war pictures exhibit on the ground floor in the back. A reminder of the early 1990s here in Dubrovnik!

Nestled at the pinnacle of a picturesque peninsula, the Mausoleum of the Racic family stands as a testament to both artistry and history. Designed by renowned Croatian sculptor Ivan Meštrović in 1922, this architectural gem is crafted from striking white stone and features an octagonal layout topped with a domed ceiling that allows natural light to filter through. The mausoleum's entrance is adorned with two caryatids resembling angels, adding an ethereal touch to its grandeur.
What a beautiful peaceful place With the most amazing views !! Worth to make the steps going up then you can go down by the road you end up on other side if you take left or back to town to the right
Lenka S — Google review
The graveyard where the mausoleum is situated is free to visit and offers fine views of the sea & coast. There's a small entrance fee for Mausoleum itself, I think €4, but it's worth having a look inside where there are written guides in several languages telling you about this family burial place and explaining the design and significance of the interior decorations.
Miles M — Google review
You can spot the Racic family mausoleum from a distance as is located on the highest point of Cavtat. The climb is a bit steep if you are coming from the steps but if you are walking in the centre of Cavtat is not so bad. The Racic family mausoleum which is also known as Our Lady of the Angels it was built in 1922 by the Croatian sculptor Ivan Mestrovic in Art Deco style on top of an existing chapel of Saint Roch. The architecture is designed as a fussion of memorial, religious and artistic space. The floor plan is octagonal with prominent chapels in the form of a GreeK Cross. The cemetery is still in use today and any funerals do take place in the mausoleum. The views are amazing as you get to see the whole of Cavtat from above and over to the Adriatic sea so is worth the climb.
Kypriopoulla — Google review
The Mausoleum of the Racic family by Meštrović is a peaceful and well-kept burial site with beautiful architecture. There are two ways to reach it one from the harbor with many steps and the other with a smaller path and fewer steps on the opposite side of the hill. The entrance fee is €4,- Once at the top, you're rewarded with stunning views of the bay, making it well worth the climb.
Yo L — Google review
It is a breathtaking place, walking inside the mausoleum, seeing the many details in the craftsmanship in such a small space. Initially I walked up on recommendation from our hotel (Hotel Supetar), and I was not disappointed. The history of the mausoleum, builds upon the craftsmanship. The tragic events inflicted upon the Racic family, and the Trust who ensured it was built, makes this a worthwhile visit. It was worth the €4 entry fee, and I recommend sitting in silence to take in the space, before reading the information sheet, which takes you through the history of the Racic family and the details of the stonemasonry work.
Robert J — Google review
Stunning - don’t miss it if in Cavtat, well worth the climb up the steps. A sad story though - worth reading the information sheets inside, which are well written and in multiple languages. Also good views from outside across to Dubrovnik.
A T — Google review
This place is basically frequented by locals and there are few tourists there, especially because it is a cemetery. However, the place is beautiful! It is a local cemetery, located at the top of the hill in urban Cavtat, with a magnificent view of the city's waterfront and promenade.
Mat B — Google review
The monument itself is a mausoleum of a rich family of shipbuilders from Cavtat, while the architectures of it and sculptures are the masterpieces of famous Ivan Mestrovic. It says it was his first commission. There is a quiet cemetery on the spot and a nice view.

WAR PHOTO LIMITED is a unique museum located in the historical center of Dubrovnik, offering a thought-provoking and educational experience. The gallery showcases powerful photography exhibits that depict the harsh realities of armed conflicts from around the globe. Visitors can explore collections featuring the works of renowned photojournalists, such as Emmanuel Ortiz's 'Broken Lights of Yugoslavia,' Patrick Robert's 'Africa,' Yuri Kozyrev's 'On Revolution Road,' and Lana Slezic's 'Forsaken.'
Many stunning photos. Must visit if you care to know what's going on in the world and to feel the gravity. When we went September 2025 there were basically three exhibits: Myanmar, Yugoslavia, one particular photographer who seems to have been everywhere the last 20 years
Ben T — Google review
This was very impactful on me. The quality of the photography is of a very high calibre. It’s very thought provoking and I learned so much about war and conflict in the past few years globally that I never knew was even occurring. It’s well worth the visit tbh.
Daniel J — Google review
War Photo Limited – a punch in the heart you must not skip On our very last day in the Balkans we walked into this small gallery on Antuninska street and were completely silenced. The exhibition is not big, but every single photograph hits you like a wave: burning roofs in this same Old Town in 1991–92, terrified children, proud defenders, destroyed villages, refugees… and then the map on the wall that shows how almost every house inside these beautiful walls was damaged or destroyed during the siege. Thirty years later you stroll the same polished streets full of tourists and gelato, and these images remind you what happened here while the world watched.
A G — Google review
An excellent war photojournalism gallery featuring bravery photojournalists covering different important wars. I was glad that I learnt about this gallery in a travel brochure and made it in my first day in Old Town. I highly recommend everyone visiting Old Town the first time to stop by this gallery first before visiting the rest of the attractions. The photos of the wars, especially what Dubrovnik had gone through, definitely set the tone to the rest of my days in town and I thought about those who fought fearlessly for justice and innocents. My respect to the soldiers and the photojournalists! As cliche as it sounds, photo speaks a thousand words. Thanks for the curation!
Yvonne T — Google review
The photos presented are interesting yet heartbreaking. This place truly manifests its intended purpose. However, calling it a museum is an overstatement; it is more of a gallery. I would recommend visiting if you are interested in photography.
Ali G — Google review
Small museum with war pictures. Take a little time to reflect on the horrors of wars that Croatia, Kosovo, Serbia and Bosnia had to face in these past decades. It wasn’t so pleasant in the sense of a fun time, but it was very informative about the history of the conflicts and it’s an important moment not to forget that Dubrovnik it’s not only beaches and game of thrones. The pictures are sad but beautiful. 10 euros the entrance. It is worth it.
Filipe C — Google review
very informative and well organized. i wish the captions were given right under or next to the photos though, because it gets a bit park in some spots of the exhibition room, making it difficult to read from catalog. the last section about wars from many other parts of the world could be better organized chronologically.

Sponza Palace, a 16th-century Gothic-Renaissance structure in Dubrovnik, has a rich history. It was originally a customs office and later served as a mint, state treasury, bank, and meeting place for the city's intellectuals. Today, it houses the State Archive of Dubrovnik with documents dating back to 1022. The palace also features the Memorial Room for the Defenders of Dubrovnik from the Homeland war in 1991.
The Sponza Palace is a stunning architectural gem that shouldn't be missed. Its Gothic and Renaissance blend creates a visually captivating exterior, while the interior houses a poignant memorial to the city's defenders. Documents from the State Archives are marvelous, and many fascinating exhibits offer glimpses into Dubrovnik's past. Take a moment to appreciate the intricate details of this iconic building and pay respects to those who sacrificed for their city.
Lukasz Z — Google review
Sponza Palace, situated in the heart of Dubrovnik's Old Town, is a splendid example of the city's rich architectural heritage. This remarkable 16th-century palace beautifully blends Gothic and Renaissance styles, making it a standout attraction for anyone exploring the historic city. The palace's exterior features elegant stone carvings and intricate details that reflect the craftsmanship of its era. The interior courtyard is particularly enchanting, offering a tranquil space adorned with graceful arches and columns. It's easy to imagine the bustling activity that once took place here when the palace served as a customs house and meeting place for merchants. Today, Sponza Palace houses the Dubrovnik State Archives, which contains a valuable collection of historical documents. Visitors are often captivated by the building's well-preserved architecture and the rich history it represents. While the palace itself is a visual delight, the exhibits inside may be more appealing to history buffs and those interested in archival materials. For the casual visitor, the main attraction is often the palace's architectural beauty and the ambiance of its courtyard. Overall, Sponza Palace is a must-visit for those who appreciate historical architecture and want to delve deeper into Dubrovnik's past. Its central location makes it an easy addition to any itinerary exploring the Old Town.
Sam — Google review
Reviews give an overinflated impression of the building.€5 entry (not in Dubrovnik Pass) Courtyard the only significant part of palace that can be seen but is covered in art displays. Historical photos of old Dubrovnik in some rooms and dedication to fallen soldiers in another. No sense of the architecture and history of the building can be gained. Save your money- don’t bother. Just take a photo of outside.
M J — Google review
Apart from the central courtyard (filled with an art gallery), the entrance, and the hall in memory of Dubrovnik's resistance during the war in Yugoslavia, I did not see an indication to visit the palace. Currently, the façade is in restoration so not a great possibility of a beautiful photo in the evening.

A very impressive building in the Old town of Dubrovnik, is built on Gothic- Rennaissance style, and it was one of the most important places in the 17th century Asia was the meeting place of the members of the Academy of the Learned, who used to discuss literature, poems and science. It houses the Dubrovnik Archives and is considered to be amo g the richest in Europe. Now the palace it holds a private exhibition and it has the a section dedicated to the fallen of the war in 1991.

Bukovac House Museum in Cavtat offers a fascinating glimpse into the life and work of the Croatian painter Vlaho Bukovac. The museum is housed in a 15th-century church, showcasing impressive wooden altars and Bukovac's accomplished paintings of the four evangelists. Visitors can explore the well-preserved house, gaining insight into Bukovac's artistry and personal life.
What a lovely place! The frescos are magnificent, especially the blue room. Then audioguide was good too. But you need to advertise more! The Shell Museum has signs pointing you in the right direction, this had nothing but a Croatian flag and a small sign by the door. If I hadn't found it on Google Maps, I would never have known it was just a few steps away from the marina and it would have been a shame to miss such a great place.
Sarah — Google review
I’m not much of a museum goer or art aficionado; however, this museum and Bukovac’s life and works really moved me. The size/location of the museum, all the painted walls, paintings, furniture etc. allowed one to leisurely enjoy the nice temperature in the home, every cozy/handmade detail and almost feel his spirit living on. Surprisingly good. Worth taking a look.
Norma B — Google review
Very enjoyable visit, and it's included in the Dubrovnik pass. The guy at reception was very engaging and because it was quiet, had the time to tell me about the life of this man who also spent time in Peru & USA. He specialised in portrait paintings, I guess because it was well paid. Many selfportraits and paintings of his family on show. The blue room murals are well worth seeing.
Miles M — Google review
Very friendly and welcoming lady at the reception, it's a lovely Museum with beautiful paintings of an important historical artist, definitely worth visiting

Unexpected little gem in Cavtat. So pleased we stumbled upon it. Very interesting, quirky, different to touristy promenade. Well worth a visit.

What a treasure! A great place to see and hear interesting stories about artist's life. He was a fruitful artist that deserves attention and the museum deserves public funding. The wall paintings are getting restored. The first floor is the exibit of the paintings of mostly Dubrovnik and sorounding areas of his student. Remarkable as well. Its a must see if you are in the area. There is a digital overview if his life and work. Spend some extra time. You'll like it. Everyone was helpful and pleasant. Ask them about the details. Its like reading a novel.
Maja T — Google review
Loved this place. It is like going back in time. As an artist I can really appreciate this work on display. I liked the house, paintings and displays that much, that I returned for a second time in the same week. Thank you for opening this house up for everyone to see.

I am so impressed with this little museum. The house by itself self is marvelous and it’s in the city center so it was really easy to find. House shows it’s truly colors by remaining the same through time and how much of an artist Vlaho Bukovac truly was. Definitely something you should visit in Cavtat regardless of your age. Great deal if you are student you get discount I payed mine only 3€ which is a bargain. Definitely comming again!!!

Sokol Grad, a restored fortress dating back to 2000BC, is a must-visit historical site in the Konavle Region. Built in the 14th century as protection against the Ottoman Empire, it has been opened to the public after restoration. The fortress features a museum showcasing its history and significance, along with stunning views of the coastline up to Dubrovnik. Visitors can explore its impressive architecture and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
Some of the reviews almost put us off visiting, but I'm glad we ignored the negativity and went anyway, it was definitely worth it. Yes, it's quite small, but if you take your time, take in all the sights and information, and hour easily passes. The place is fascinating and the views are beautiful, even the drive up is interesting, it depends on your personality. Relax and enjoy, there is no need to rush.

It sounds like the Sokol Fortress offers a unique historical experience with well-maintained facilities and stunning views. However, my main concern is the entrance fee of €10, which I feel is too high for the size of the site, especially in comparison to larger European fortresses with lower entry costs. While I understand the importance of maintaining such historical landmarks and covering operational costs, I believe that a lower fee, such as €5, would be more appropriate. Despite this, for those willing to pay the fee, the fortress could still be a worthwhile visit due to its historical significance and picturesque surroundings.

A really interesting fortress. You can spend a couple of hours here. Good information. Beautiful views. Not suitable for people who struggle to get around.

A nice piece of local history. You can fully tour this lookout fortress and appreciate living is such a place. Have story boards describing the history, use, and living in this place.

10 euros to get in but that is OK (contribution to local economy etc). Not massive but some nice little exhibits and splendid views across the valley. All displays have English descriptions so that was cool. No restaurant but there are toilets and little shop...give it a go and get some local history into those veins 😂

A short drive from main road well sign posted, good parking ,10€pp,steep steps every where but we'll doable, vistas far as you care to see, gift shop toilets

Well quite a surprise. The inside was very informative but unsuitable if you have any walking issues. It’s free to wander around the outside. €10 adults €5 children.

Great castle/ fort renovation. 10 euros entry helps keep the place in tip top condition. The displays and information boards are really good , the views from the top great. Little shop selling t shirts etc. Recommend a visit.

Pasjača Beach is a hidden gem tucked beneath high cliffs near the village of Popovici in Dalmatia. Accessible via a dramatic stepped trail, this secluded beach boasts intensely blue and green waters lapping at its pebbly shore. While it may be a bit challenging to find, the journey is well worth it for travelers seeking an off-the-beaten-path experience.
Pasjača Beach near Dubrovnik is truly unique and worth the visit. The scenery is breathtaking, with crystal clear water and dramatic cliffs. The beach itself is small and requires a bit of a walk down many steps, but that makes it feel more secluded and special. It can get crowded in summer(we visited on August 17 around midday, 1–2 PM, and it was very busy)so it’s best to go early. Overall, an amazing spot for swimming and relaxing in nature!
Dariana D — Google review
Truly THE most remarkable scenery and place to swim close to Dubrovnik. By the shore, there’s really not that much space to sunbath though. We went there in the afternoon and got easily a parking spot, but still down by the beach. It was very difficult to find a spot to lay down our stuff for swimming. Down by the water, there isn’t any kind of service available, but up by the parking there’s a small kiosk and a possibility to get a shower for 1€/1min. Remember to bring a lot of water with you, because you will need it when climbing back up 😅
Kimmo K — Google review
One of the best hidden beaches I saw in my life so far... It's definitely something you shouldn't miss while being somewhere nearby. In my case I wasn't able to go there at the "beach area" that you can see at most photos because of high tide, so be prepared that you might have to sit on rocky pathway instead - you can compare how it looked like when I was there with other photos to see what I mean by that.

Pasjaca Beach near Dubrovnik is a stunning, small beach below steep cliffs. It features a unique mix of soft sand and pebbles, with crystal-clear turquoise waters. The beach is accessed by a steep staircase, offering rewarding views but requiring good footwear and some effort. Pasjaca is remote and peaceful, without facilities, making it ideal for nature lovers.
Kemal K — Google review
Beautiful beach with sand and rocks. The water is so clear and clean! In order to get there you need to walk down a steep way with stairs and also partly rocks. It's possible to do that with small kids, but you need to be very careful. Do not forget to bring enough water and some snacks as you cannot buy anything there.
Jessica E — Google review
Free parking, there is a small bar with drinks right next to the parking, 1€ for 1 minute shower. The way to the beach can be bit tricky because there are a lot of stairs but once you make it to the beach you are gonna forget all about the stairs. The water is crystal clear. There isn’t much space because it’s mostly surrounded by cliffs and big rocks, so come earlier to secure a spot. If you around this area this is a MUST.
Elena B — Google review
This is the most beautiful beach I have ever seen in Croatia! Especially in the morning before 9:00, there are few people on the beach which makes it more charming!

Ascend to new heights with a ride on the Dubrovnik Cable Car, a 4-minute journey that whisks you 778 meters up to a plateau boasting breathtaking views of the Old City. At the summit, you can savor a meal at the panoramic restaurant while taking in the picturesque backdrop of Dubrovnik's terracotta roofs and the expansive Adriatic Sea.
Expensive but worth the money! I think kids should be under 16 though, not under 12. We have teenagers and so €30 per person return becomes really expensive for the family. Not too long to wait, even in August! I recommend eating at the restaurant at the top. It is well worth the money for the fantastic view and the food is good. I also recommend visiting the war museum at the top, which we all found very informative and I found actually that my teenagers could relate to this more easily than the world wars, since it was relatively recent. It is so shocking to see images of Dubrovnik under attack. The views from the top of the cable car are of course fantastic.
Barbara E — Google review
You can buy tickets at the entrance. We bought only cable car tickets, but there are also Dubrovnik card tickets available. Sunset is a peak hour. You can walk down with nice view to the city. If you walk aside a little bit (sunset direction) there will be less crowded spots to enjoy the sunset.
Rostislav P — Google review
Beautiful scenery. Worth every penny. We went on a sunny day. The day we wanted to go the cable cars were not running due to high winds and rain.. so we drove up the narrow road that leads up to that point. I would not fo that. It's a 2 way narrow road. If u can gallows either taxis or someone it's fine otherwise pulling over is hard on to gravel.
Joanna L — Google review
Gorgeous views over Dubrovnik. Sunset was amazing from the top. Walk a little towards the left (cable car behind you) to find some beautiful nature and even better views. We also bumped into a herd of goats. Queue down after sunset was almost 1h, right before no queue whatsoever (neither up or down).
Fredrica B — Google review
The only negative for this cable car ride is the cost of round trip for 30 EUR. You can get a flight ticket from London dubrovnik for the exact same price, and the views will make you feel you redeem the cost of it but I remember paying much lesser fee for longer cable car rides. The views are amazing , there is only one half decent restaurant on the top to have a beer and enjoy the views, and if you are going around sunset time, the uphill rides become very crowded and long queues so plan your trip accordingly
Pavan N — Google review
Recommend taking the cable car... great views and access to a swish restaurant/bar at the top. 30 euros for a return trip but well worth it. Smooth journey. Takes about 5 minutes. Didn't eat at the restaurant but had lovely, reasonably priced, drinks whilst enjoying the fabulous views.
Lorraine K — Google review
It was okay overall. You do have great views of the old town. I wish I had gone up during sunset. I recommend only going up iif the weather is good otherwise the view wouldn't be worth going up. I didn't eat in the restaurant but would recommend getting a drink to soak up her views. If you have time, I suggest getting a one way ticket and then hiking back down Mount which takes around 30-40 minutes if you’re in good physical condition.

The Dubrovnik Cable Car is one of the best experiences to do in the city! The ride up is smooth and the views over the Old Town, the Adriatic Sea, and the surrounding islands are absolutely breathtaking. Orlando's Column, located at the eastern end of Placa in Dubrovnik, is a historic landmark that dates back to 1418. The column features a statue of Orlando, a medieval knight who is said to have defended the Republic of Ragusa during a Saracen siege in the 800s. This iconic symbol represents Dubrovnik's spirit of freedom and resilience, with the Libertas flag flying atop the mast during ceremonial events.
Unique stone column of an ancient knight Orlando. This important historical figure stands proudly in Dubrovnik for 600 years now, making a year 2019 Orlando’s year. Orlando’s Column was made by Bonino di Jacopo from Milan with the help of the local master Antun Raguseo. The idea to erect the Column was born in 1417, and its construction started two years later. At the knight’s feet, there was the standard for trading fabric the Ragusan cubit (‘lakat’) measuring 51.2 cm. Both the standard and its length correspond to the length of Orlando’s right forearm (the one in which he holds the sword).

A Piece of History Standing Proud in Dubrovnik Right in the heart of Dubrovnik’s Old Town, just in front of the beautiful Church of St. Blaise, stands Orlando’s Column – and while it may look like just an old statue to some, it’s actually packed with history and meaning. This medieval stone figure has been standing guard since 1418, symbolizing freedom and independence for the people of Dubrovnik. It’s not just a monument – it was once the official standard for measuring cloth, and today it’s still the spot where the city’s flag proudly flies during the Dubrovnik Summer Festival. Take a moment here to soak in the atmosphere: the square around it is lively, often filled with music, tourists, and street performers. It’s one of those places where the past and present blend seamlessly. You don’t need a tour guide to feel its importance – just stand there, look up at Orlando’s brave expression, and you’ll sense it. A must-see for anyone who wants to connect with the soul of Dubrovnik.

So this statue was commissioned a long time ago but is currently undergoing restoration at the moment. It was cracking and they thought that it would be a good idea to pump it with a material to stop it but it actually expanded and made it worse so now it’s undergoing restoration. Hopefully they get it fixed up soon. It is on the Main Street in Old town and it serves as a meeting point for tour groups

MOMAD Museum of Modern Art Dubrovnik is a prestigious collection of modern and contemporary art housed in an old palace with Gothic architecture. The museum's permanent collection covers paintings, sculptures, and prints from the late 19th century to WWII, featuring works by renowned Croatian artists like Vlaho Buhovac. The building itself reflects the Gothic and Renaissance architecture of the old town.
I had the chance to photograph a wedding at the Museum of Modern Art in Dubrovnik, and it was absolutely breathtaking. The combination of elegant architecture, stunning sea views, and artistic ambiance makes it a truly unique venue. It’s perfect for couples looking for something stylish and timeless. Always happy to return to this incredible location.

We just visited the Museum of Modern Art as it was included in our 1-day Dubrovnik pass, and it was a pleasant surprise. The museum has three floors showcasing a wide range of art — not just modern pieces, but also some more traditional paintings. There’s a lot of interesting context about the history of the museum itself, which adds to the experience. The building is impressive, located near Banje Beach, and it was great to have air conditioning, especially compared to some other museums in Dubrovnik. Don’t miss the sculpture garden upstairs — it’s a nice little hidden gem. It’s a small museum, but the exhibits, including some moving works of art, make it well worth a visit.
Sayee — Google review
We wanted to escape the crowds in the old town, and since this museum was also included in the Dubrovnik Pass, we decided to give it a shot! It was definitely worth it, and we enjoyed our visit there. The museum is just a short walk away from the old town, with a stunning sea view on the way. The exhibition was perfectly curated with a great mix of sculptures and paintings of different artists (some of them even outside on the terrace). It was a very nice afternoon away from the loud part of the town, and a very lovely lady at the entrance of the museum!
Nadi W — Google review
I visited this as part of the Dubrovnik pass so it's worth doing as part of a combined ticket. However I was slightly disappointed by the size of the gallery spread across three small floors. I've been to many MOMADs around the world so I guess I was expecting a bigger display. The other thing was the rather poor experience with the poe-faced unengaging staff member who I saw at 9.00am. How different to the friendly lady who greeted me at the Archeological museum. Please, a smile goes a long way and costs nothing, it's important when you are in a front line role engaging with the public. Do visit the outside terraces which provide good views of the old town. On the ground floor, the shop sells things like "art prints" €15, mugs, art books etc.
Miles M — Google review
I went to the Dubrovnik Museum of Modern Art about an hour and a half before closing, but only the 3rd floor was open. If I’d known they closed the other floors early, I wouldn’t have gone. The 3rd floor was small, so I finished it quickly — a bit disappointing. The front view of the building and the sunset view from the upper floor outside are truly beautiful.
The E — Google review
Small but intriguing museum, in addition to the art currently on display there is a lot of "history of the museum itself" displays here. Don't forget to check out the sculpture garden upstairs as well.

15Walls of Dubrovnik

When visiting Dubrovnik, one of the must-see attractions is the Walls of Dubrovnik. These ancient walls, dating back to the 10th century and expanded between the 12th and 17th centuries, offer a medieval and gothic view of the Old Town. Stretching for about two kilometers, these walls were built to defend the independent Republic of Ragusa city-state.
As with everything else in Europe it seems all attractions are becoming prohibitively expensive. At 40 Euros, this is no exception, but it is a site that cannot be missed. We purchased our tickets in advance which is recommended ...skip the lines. We also got there early (9:30) and were off at noon. Crowds were relatively light and we beat the heat! The crowds were much larger as we were exiting. The visit was excellent with tremendous pictures. Walking the perimeter of the old city atop the walls is hard to beat. While there are lots of steps up and down, there were lots of opportunities to take a break. It is a lot easier to navigate this attraction at your own pace without crowds and heat. It is not hard to imagine the congestion in some places along the route with bigger crowds. Take lots of water and remember, not a lot of shade. Even at 40 Euros, we recommend visiting this historical site.
Guy R — Google review
I recommend to get a one day Dubrovnik Pass for €40 because the city walls is a must. If you only go for the wall ticket, it seems like €35, why not get a day pass, and you can pop into Maritime Museum during the wall walk. I don’t think buying three days or seven days ticket is a good idea, because all the attractions only have ONE time access. For example, you can go onto the city walls for one day, you can not go onto it on day 2 or day 3 if you have three days pass. Walls Walk needs a degree of fitness, it concludes about 4-5 kilometres walk, 400-500 steps up and down. Besides, it’s the heat. It could be up 28 degrees even in the end of August. It is feeling like burning in the sun on the walls. Please remember to keep hydrated and cool. There are a couple of cafes and some small stores to get some cold drinks and rest on the walls. Also I recommend to do the Walls walk in the beginning of the day, like go up at 8 in the morning and come down at 10 when it’s getting hot, and also getting very very very busy with the groups, guided tours and tourists. Some areas are likely the bottle necks because it’s narrow. Of course, later in the afternoon is also a good time to go, no groups and cooler. Hats, sunglasses and sun cream are the must with your water bottle.
貝瑞克(Markpigpapa) — Google review
The City Walls of Dubrovnik are an absolute must-see. Walking the circuit is an unforgettable experience. You are truly walking through history while gaining the most amazing views of the Old City and the shimmering Adriatic. The entire circuit takes around two hours to complete, and you'll want to take your time for photos and to soak it all in. Essential Tips: Go early. Getting there early is highly recommended to avoid the mid-day heat and the worst of the crowds. Wear sensible shoes. The path is uneven and very steep in places, so comfortable footwear is a recommended. Our one complaint is that the entrance fee is quite pricey. To offset the cost, we recommend buying the Dubrovnik Pass for €40 per person. It covers the walls and several museums (like the Rector's Palace), which makes it a much better deal overall. Despite the high ticket price, the historical weight and spectacular panorama make this tour completely worthwhile.
Lütfü C — Google review
At €40 it’s definitely not cheap. We bought our tickets on-site around noon and were pleasantly surprised that there was no line at all. Walking the old city walls gives you stunning views and plenty of great photo spots. There are lots of steps, but also plenty of chances to pause, catch your breath, and take it all in. It can get hot and there isn’t much shade, so bringing water is a must.
Thobias ( — Google review
The views are wonderful and you get to see the old city from every angle. It’s a rather long loop, if done slowly it can take about 2 hours. We went in October so the weather was pleasant and not hot. There are two bars/shops along the way to stop at if you need too. There also seemed to be two other exists Incase you wanted to leave early. Definitely closed shoes as the path is a bit rugged. There’s A LOT of steps so be prepared to climb up and down. It is outrageous to pay 40 euros for something like this though, it’s beautiful but not worth 40 euros. Definitely get the pass to try save up some money.
Valeria C — Google review
Honestly just saw them from outside - I can't imagine paying 40€ to enter into some walls that you see all the time while walking around the Old Town. You can get Dubrovnik Day Pass for 35€, but if you use it mainly for the walls - it's still crazy expensive. They're in very good condition tho and makes the city unique. Is it worth it to go inside? Maybe, but for sure not for its price which is also the reason I had to remove one star from the rating. In this case I'm going to include some photos from outside and view at them from the top in the dark :)
Kuba Z — Google review
The Walls of Dubrovnik are absolutely stunning and a must-do when visiting the city. Walking along the walls gives you some of the most breathtaking views of the Old Town, the Adriatic, and the sea of red rooftops — it’s truly a special experience and worth setting aside time for. It takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to walk the full loop, depending on your pace and how often you stop for photos. Early mornings or late evenings are the best times to go if you want a more peaceful experience and fewer crowds — perfect for taking good pictures. The 1-day pass is €40, which also covers some other sites, but I do wish there was a cheaper ticket option just for the walls. Many visitors come mainly for this attraction, and paying the full price only for the walls feels a little steep. Tickets can be bought online in advance or at tourist counters in town, which makes it convenient. Overall, an unforgettable walk through history and beauty.
Sayee — Google review
The Walls of Dubrovnik are an absolute must-see if you come to Dubrovnik. We visited in August around 11 AM, and it was already very hot, so I would definitely recommend going either early in the morning or later in the afternoon. The last admission is at 7 PM, but it’s best to go at least two hours before closing so you have enough time to walk the entire route, take photos, and enjoy the views without rushing. There are a couple of places along the way such as small bars and ice cream stands where you can rest in the shade, which is very helpful if you visit during the hottest part of the day. Still, I highly recommend bringing plenty of water with you because the prices for drinks and snacks on the walls are quite high. Another important tip is to buy the Dubrovnik City Pass. It costs €40 and includes entry to many attractions around the city. Since the Walls of Dubrovnik alone also cost €40, the pass gives you much better value for your money. Walking the walls is truly an unforgettable experience. The views over the Old Town, the terracotta rooftops, and the Adriatic Sea are absolutely stunning, and you really get a sense of the city’s history. It’s one of those experiences that defines a trip to Dubrovnik, and I would recommend it to everyone visiting the city.

Banje Beach, also known as Plaza Banje, is a stunning beach in Dubrovnik, Croatia. It offers a picturesque view of the medieval Old Town against the turquoise ocean. Just a short walk from Ploce Gate, it's easily accessible for visitors exploring the area. However, it can get crowded during peak summer season. For a more peaceful alternative, Sveti Jakov Beach is nearby.
Small rocky beach with some areas of small pebbles that are easier to sit or lay on. The beach is free with a restaurant close by for drinks that you can enjoy on the beach. Great beach and beautiful views.

Despite the crowds, the stunning location and offerings make it absolutely worth the visit.

Banje Beach – Iconic view, super convenient, and lovely in October. Literally a 2-minute walk down the stairs from our Airbnb (no car needed!), Banje is the classic Dubrovnik postcard beach: white pebbles, crystal-clear turquoise water, and that unbeatable front-row view of the Old Town walls and Lokrum island. If you’re staying near Ploče Gate or anywhere in the Old Town area, this is hands-down the most convenient and beautiful beach to pop down to.

Just two of us visited around 12-13 and the place was pretty packed with only a few loungers and umbrellas available total was €60 for our spot up on the west upper seating deck. If you go around 16-17 the rock face on the west end of the beach begins to give shade but not a lot. Food and beer were decently priced. There is an extensive cocktail list Two 1.0l biers and a pizza came out to €43.

Nestled in the heart of Dubrovnik, the Pharmacy Dubrovnik - the Bell Tower stands as a remarkable landmark on Luza Square. This stunning white structure, dating back to 1444, soars to an impressive height of 31 meters (102 feet). It features a captivating moon dial and houses a historic bell that was cast in 1506.
I was on holiday in Dubrovnik. Before I left Vienna I had to go to the dentist due to infection in my gums. I ran out of medication and had to find help. Obviously I was going to get the medication I had in Vienna but none the less I can recommend this pharmacy. The pharmacist that helped me was not only friendly but extremely helpful. He took the time to explain each of the options and made a solid recommendation what I should buy. And he even added a touch of humour. If you happen to need an assistance, I can really recommend going here.

Refused to honor a prescription for ear spray (note, not morphene or opiods) as it was online. Remained in agony till the next day when I found an alternative, reasonable, pharmacist. If it was for a major medication, I would understand, but otherwise petty.
Ross G — Google review
Absolutely shocking and abysmal health care experience. I’ve never seen a medical professional treat a sick person so poorly. My mate needed antibiotics and she got an online prescription from a doctor in Germany via telehealth and the pharmacists would not honor it. They said because it wasn’t printed out it wasn’t sufficient. The German doctor offered to call or email the pharmacists and they refused to give any contact details because they said it wouldn’t matter. The pharmacists were so wildly rude, dismissive, and unwilling to offer help with an alternative we were so shook.
Jenna H — Google review
Go there if you don’t want to get help because they will not help you as a tourist (even from EU). They refused to give me my medication even though i had a prescription from my doctor. They change rules depending on the location of the pharmacy but for now none of them helped me. I don’t understand people working in the medical field with no desire to help in any way. Thank you for letting me leave unmedicated and suffering.

(Translated by Google) The easiest way to get to the top of Snježnica is to follow the built path from Kuna Konaovska. It takes 2 hours to climb to the top on the trail without rest. The built road is easy to follow, the path is easy and leads all the way to the top. You should not take marked shortcuts because they are inconvenient and overgrown with bushes, making them difficult to pass. In other words, they do not shorten, but only make the beautiful path to the top more difficult. The problem is when you come to Kuna Konaovska on the local paved road because there is nowhere to park, the locals have fenced off their yards, and the road is dead-end and leads nowhere except to the church. It's better to get started right before the entrance to Kuna Konaovska and come early in the morning before everyone else while there is still room to leave the car. A bus or a larger vehicle cannot get up there because the road is narrow and turning is a problem. There is also a path from Mihanić that goes through Kuna Konaovska and further along the built path to the top, but it's almost an hour more ascent. You should definitely not go to the top in the summer, but only in the colder, winter months (from 11 to 2 months) because there is no shade. In the winter months, 26.12. a trip to Snježnica is also held.

A visit to the iconic Dubrovnik City Walls is an absolute must for anyone exploring this stunning coastal gem. Stretching nearly 1,940 meters, these impressive fortifications are among Europe’s finest and feature a mix of round towers, rectangular fortresses, and bastions that date back to the 15th century. As you ascend the main stairway on the western side, you'll be greeted with breathtaking views of both the vibrant Old Town and the sparkling Adriatic Sea.
Great way to see the whole of the Old Town and views out to sea. Would definitely recommend if you're visiting Dubrovnik. It's worth getting the Dubrovnik Pass which will allow you access to the Walls and many other activities/sites in Dubrovnik.
Leanna S — Google review
The 'must do' thing when you are in Dubrovnik. On a good day you can see for miles from the top of the walls and it is probably the best place to view the old city buildings from. There are really nice views of Fort Lovrijenac from the walls and you can spot lots of Game of Thrones filming locations from them. Highly recommended and don't forget that the price includes a visit to Lovrijenac as well.
Tim L — Google review
Breathtaking views every corner. A lot of stairs but it’s totally worth it. We didn’t purchase the one day pass to go inside the city wall, we just purchased the city wall pass and it was €10. Highly recommended place.
Mahvic C — Google review
Amazing city walls, absolutely beautiful scenery from everywhere you walk. The walls are in amazing condition and are so clean and well looked after. Lots of walking and lots and lots of steps, but worth it for the views.
Nina V — Google review
Beautiful scenery - it shows you the true glory of Dubrovnik. We went during a rainy day and even then it was still gorgeous. Lots of little cafes along the way with toilets (which we used to hide out in during the heavy rain!)
Grace X — Google review
The walls are a must do it you are visiting Dubrovnik. It takes about 1.5-2.5 hours to complete as per your place. The views are just fantastic. Wear comfortable shoes. There are a few places to grab something to eat and drink. The wall ticket also gives access to Fort Lorijenac for a duration of 3 days so don't throw it away. The ticket costs 250 HRK. Came to know later that the Dubrovnik card costs 250 HRK and it covers the wall and a bunch of other places so please do check that out first. Best to do first thing in the morning to avoid crowds. Sunset is also a good time for great views
Bharathi M — Google review
The walls of Dubrovnik are iconic, no doubt, but are they worth 35 Euro per person or almost $40? I'm not sure about that. As glamorous as it sounds, walking the walls is not that pleasant. There is no shade up there whatsoever, and the views, though initially stunning, quickly become repetitious, and in concert with the heat, they turn to old news as you start searching for shade, water and eventually the exit. I, for one, did not finish the circuit and bowed out before the heat stroke had the chance to do me in.
Robert C — Google review
Lovely scenery from walls. Costs 35 Euro per person. We have been there with one 6yrs old and one 2.5yrs old, also our foldable stroller was with us. It was not too easy with stroller because you need to carry a lot. If you have foldable and light weight stroller, you can take it with you. The easiest way to start is from Maritime Museum, less steps and easy to climb up. Rest of the entrances have more and steep steps. It is one way walk, and you do not have to take round tour. We left the walls from Pile gate.
Erinc O — Google review
An incredible experience! Would recommend everyone to do it. There are roughly 1000 steps and the distance is approximately 2 kilometres but don't let that fool you, it is a serious workout. They advised that it should take an hour but it took us double that doing it with two small children. In the end the kids were exhausted and we were not able to visit the fort (the City walls entrance ticket allows you access to the nearby Fort Lovrijenac). Would advise to start early in the day if you're visiting in the summer as it gets quite hot post 11am.
Ashwin K — Google review
Great view of the whole city. 35 Euros is a fair amount, but if you're interested in doing something else too (like visiting the fortress outside the walls which is 15 euros on its own) then it makes the price much more justified. There are breaks for food and drinks along the 2.1k walk. Lots of steep stairs, be a bit careful if you don't like heights. Amazing though, definitely recommend as an activity.

Stradun is a lively limestone-paved pedestrian street located in the historic center of Dubrovnik. This car-free area within medieval walls is bustling with activity, offering a plethora of narrow alleys filled with charming restaurants and cafes. Visitors can opt for vacation rentals in the heart of the ancient town, providing an immersive experience unlike that of a typical hotel stay. In the morning, one can soak up the vibrant atmosphere on Stradun, taking in sights such as St.
The heart of the old town! I recommend not shopping too much- we bought shirts, hats, sunglasses etc… then found other stores in out of town shopping malls with much cheaper prices. You can’t best the atmosphere of this street though!

Beautiful but super crowded. You feel like you are stuck in someone’s pocket. You wanna take a picture you have 1000 people in front of you, either blocking the view or waiting to take the same picture. The food (mainly pastries and ice cream) around there was expensive and not very good quality. The boulevard looks nice if you get there super early in the morning, like 6am to see it empty.

Main Street of Old Town, Dubrovnik . Full of people at all times. The souvenirs there are selling here are at high price, understandable.

Stradun (Placa) – The Shining Heartbeat of Dubrovnik This dazzling limestone-paved main street – affectionately called Stradun by locals – is the soul of the Old Town and one of the most beautiful pedestrian promenades in Europe. Polished smooth by centuries of footsteps, it gleams like marble under the sun and turns into a mirror of lights at night. Stretching 300 perfect metres from Pile Gate to Ploče Gate, it’s framed by uniform baroque façades rebuilt after the 1667 earthquake, with charming little side alleys hiding staircases, fountains, and hidden cafés. Morning coffee on the shiny stones, the sound of the city bell tower marking the hour, evening passeggiata when everyone strolls arm-in-arm, and the magical glow after dark when the crowds thin and the street feels like yours alone – every moment here is pure Dubrovnik romance. Grab a gelato, sit on the steps of Orlando’s Column or by Onofrio’s Fountain, and watch the world go by. Whether it’s your first visit or your hundredth, walking the Stradun never gets old. The most iconic street in the Adriatic…

The main street in the Old Town of Dubrovnik which it starts as soon as you enter through the Pile Gate to the harbour.

A clean and tidy main esplanade through the old town. Lots of space to move around and and many side streets to explore with restaurants and bars wherever you look. The floor stones can be a bit slippery when its been raining, but have a lovely shine to them and incredibly well preserved and maintained. No vehicles allowed so a great place to walk around in peace and enjoy the town. The esplanade runs from the Pule gate to the port to the east.

Srđ is a prominent hill in Dubrovnik, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city, the Adriatic Sea, and nearby islands. At its summit stands the 19th-century Fort Imperial, which served as a strategic defense point in Dubrovnik's history. Visitors can reach the top via an aerial cable car or by driving or hiking up.
I will recommend either walking up or down, or both ways by walking, as there are much better views somewhat midway. The hike is not steep gradient, but it is rugged with pebbles and rocks. If just taking the cable car and watch from the tower, the view is greatly obstructed by the cablecar post and cables.
Connie W — Google review
Absolutely loved the hike up here! If taking a tour, cable car or other method up you might feel differently. There is only so much to do and see but the views are amazing. The war museum is sobering but worthwhile if you and interested in taking a deeper dive into Croatia.
Peter B — Google review
Amazing views! Definitely a must-have while visiting Dubrovnik. You can get there with 3 different ways - cable car (19€ one way (with the 2€ fee that they don't show at first) or 32€ return ticket) or by an Uber (it was 22€ for us at Sunset, so just 11€ per person - more suitable option) or you can walk there - it's not hard, but it's gonna take you like 2 hours (according to Google Maps).
Kuba Z — Google review
One of the best places in the world to watch the sunset. You can either drive to there by a car or using the cable car which you will need to pay for. Definitely a place to visit during sunset hour when in Dubrovnik. A 10-15minute drive from the Old Town. Beautiful sunset views and views on the different islands and Dubrovnik. Highly recommended
Kaoutar — Google review
I recommend hiking Srđ for sunset! Incredible views and great adventure. The hike itself is not very demanding for young people, but keep in mind to stay hydrated. Theres also cable car available, but for fullest experience i strongly insist on doing the hike yourself.

Andrea B — Google review
I recommend hiking if you can start early enough in morning before sun & humidity are too intense. It's easier to get dropped off than find limited parking on a busy road. Amazing views and museum at the top.
Katie Y — Google review
A 400m high hilltop with amazing views down to Dubrovik, to Lokrum and the Adriatic sea. Easily reachable with the cable car, the hilltop offers alongside the amazing views a smallish fort built by the French during Napoleons rule (with a museum inside) and a huge stone cross. The museum tells the history of the siege of Dubrovnik during Yugoslavia's breakup wars when heavy fighting took place in and around the mountain.

The Franciscan Church and Monastery, built in the 1300s, is a historic landmark in Dubrovnik. The monastery features a charming cloistered garden, a library with over 20,000 books, and a small museum. One of its main attractions is the pharmacy founded in 1318, making it one of the oldest in Europe.
If the Dominican monastery stands near the gate of Ploce, this Franciscan instead meets just past the gate of Pile, just in front of the monumental fountain of Onofrio. The visit includes the beautiful Gothic colonnaded patio, with a well in the center topped by the statue of the Saint.

We visited Dubrovnik a couple of times over the past few years while on a cruise in the Mediterranean. We love these ancient towns with the beautiful structures and rich history. We found plenty of places to stop for coffee and food. Everyone was very nice and not too crowded with tourists.
Perry H — Google review
Really glad we hadn’t paid €8 pp to go into the monastery, as we were in there 15 minutes tops. It is included in the Dubrovnik Pass though, so we did this late afternoon and then the walls the following morning, as the Pass is 24hr from first activation. There is very little to see, though the ancient books on display are interesting. There is still a modern day pharmacy at the entrance to the building.
Janette G — Google review
If you have the Dubrovnik pass, why not pop into and have a look. The oldest pharmacy is before the entrance, you can go into the pharmacy and buy something, it’s not cheap, it’s pricey, only the tourists will pay I think, I am one of them. No photo inside the pharmacy. In Franciscan Church and Monastery, you can take as many photos as you like, but not in the museum. Keep you camera and photo away. Be a sensible person. It’s also very busy during the day with groups and tourists. Try to visit in the early morning hours or later in the afternoon if you would like to visit more freely.

Franciscan Church and Monastery - Quiet Beauty, Powerful Reminder RIght inside Pile Gate, this 14th-century gem is both a peaceful haven and a moving testament to Dubrovnik's resilience. The gorgeous cloister with its orange trees and ancient fountain is pure serenity, and the 1317 pharmacy is one of the oldest in Europe. But look closer: the walls still bear shrapnel and bullet holes from the brutal Serbian/Yugoslav army attack on December 6, 1991 (preserved shell fragments and impact craters are displayed inside). Seeing the damage up close, then stepping into the calm courtyard, hits hard--beauty and healing rising from the ashes of war. €5 entry is worth every cent for the history, the silence, and the stunning October light filtering through the arches. A must-visit in Stari Grad.
A G — Google review
If you have the Dubrovnik pass just go to this one and not the Franciscan monastery (smaller and cost 4 euros even with the pass, less people though). You can see the Franciscan monks about the church and monastery which I found quite interesting. There’s also a working pharmacy here which was very useful.
Angelina C — Google review
Consists of a friary, a church, a library, and a pharmacy. Built in 1317. The Pieta carved above the portal is said to be from 1498. The library (built in the 17th century) contains over 20,000 books. The pharmacy dates from 1317 and is the oldest still-functioning pharmacy in Europe and the third oldest in the world.

The Dominican Monastery, located in Dubrovnik, Croatia, is a religious complex founded in 1225. The monastery features a Gothic-style church and a museum showcasing art and artifacts from the 15th and 16th centuries. Visitors can admire unique paintings, precious gold and silver religious items, sculptures, and ancient musical scores. The monastery's late-Gothic cloister with tomb slabs embedded in its walls adds to its charm.
gorgeous little museum! the courtyard is worth a visit alone just for the vibes. I love religious iconography and manuscripts so this was perfect for me. a lovely little reprieve from the bustle of the city.
Meg S — Google review
A former Dominican monastery, now open to all visitors. There is not much to see. You can walk through the cloister and the small inner courtyard and visit the small museum. There are many cult objects and gold jewelry, some old books, paintings. It is beautiful, but not out of the ordinary. The air is cooler as if under the arches of the cloister. But it is worth visiting. You need about 30 minutes maximum for the visit.
Paul C — Google review
The Dominican monastery seemed to be deserted by tourists which was really nice as we walked around and had the place to ourselves. The only downside is the cost, as the monastery is not included within the Dubrovnik city pass so I had to pay an additional €4. There is also no English explanation inside and the explanatory leaflets were not available in English which was a shame
Lisa S — Google review
The Dominican Monastery is a must-visit for history and art enthusiasts exploring Dubrovnik. Its striking Gothic architecture, particularly the cloister, is a masterpiece of medieval design. The museum within houses a treasure trove of religious artifacts, including paintings and sculptures that offer a glimpse into the city's rich spiritual heritage. While the monastery's exterior may be austere, its interior is a serene and inspiring space. Take your time to appreciate the intricate details and the peaceful ambiance.

The Dominican monastery complex is located near the Ploce Gate and is an excellent opportunity for those who want to enjoy a cultural visit to Dubrovnik.
Mat B — Google review
A beautiful early 14th century monastery tucked away near Dubrovnik’s east gate. When I visited (early May) there were hardly any visitors, I think in part because of the nominal fee for entry (the excellent DubrovnikPass only grants a slight discount). However, that fee is well worth the price of entry. This monastery, at least in my opinion, is even more captivating than the also excellent Franciscan monastery that can be found on Stradun. Its cloister is beautiful and well-maintained, and has seating that allows for a moment to take in the view. In the monastery’s library is a collection of fine works, greatest of all being a painting by Titian depicting Mary Magdalene and St. Blaise. Also attached to the monastery is a church, which was still undergoing repair as of May 2024 and was not open to the public. Highly recommended to anyone interested in medieval history, art, or even just a brief respite from the crowds!

St. John's Fort, a remarkable structure completed in the 16th century, stands as a sentinel at the entrance of Dubrovnik's Old Harbour. This impressive fortress features circular walls and medieval defense mechanisms that speak to its historical significance. Nestled within the renowned city walls of Dubrovnik, it offers visitors not only a glimpse into the past but also stunning views of the Adriatic Sea and nearby Lokrum Island. Originally constructed in 1346 and known as "the mule fortress," St.
The fortress was built in 1346 under the name of the "mule" fortress (Tvrđava od mula). Later, the Gundulić fortress was built nearby. Both fortresses were connected by towers in 1522, and since 1557 they have formed the shape we can see today. The interior of the fortress originally housed a large gunpowder warehouse. The city harbor was defended on the north side by the smaller St. Luke's fortress, while on the south side this role was played by the St. John's fortress. Initially, a chain was stretched between the two fortresses to prevent unwanted ships from entering the harbor. The chain was there until 1484, when the Kaše breakwater was built. Today, the premises of the St. John's fortress preserve a significant part of the cultural treasures from the Republic era. It also houses the collections of the Maritime Museum and Aquarium and the Institute for the Sea and Coast. It looks powerful and strong, and when viewed from the sea it leaves a magnificent impression. The view of the city from the sea is ... magnificent - like you're in Game of Thrones.

The Dubrovnik Old Town Port is a picturesque and lively hub that perfectly complements the city’s historic charm. Surrounded by ancient stone walls, the port offers stunning views of the crystal-clear Adriatic Sea and the city’s iconic red rooftops. It’s a bustling spot with ferries, private boats, and yachts coming and going. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the harbor, relax at waterfront cafés, or take boat trips to nearby islands. With its vibrant atmosphere and scenic beauty, it’s a must-see when exploring Dubrovnik.

The only words I can use to describe what has happened here are archeological travesty. Basically it is my view that it has been an incorrect decision to jetwash out the many layers of old sealant around the fortresses original stonework. Then to have re-sealed the stonework with plain concrete, worse still it looks over concreted around the stones so some parts of the fortress now look like a flat concrete blob. The situation gets even worse still, as there also seems to be a concrete wash either deliberately or a consequence of the over concreting on some of the original stone work. The likely consequence of this will be that moisture will become trapped in the stonework & damp will be held within the walls & the structure will start to decay from within over time!! I have enclosed some photos to illustrate my findings. As I have mentioned, asthetically the structure now looks like a concrete block, some of the natural colour of the stonework (mainly brown) is gone in places. As is some of the original texture of the old stonework.

Mighty walls and artillery batteries, now the site of a nice promenade and even a quiet swimming spot on the outside of the harbour. Cathedral
Catholic church
The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, situated in the heart of Dubrovnik's Old Town, is a magnificent example of Baroque architecture. It was constructed in 1673 to replace the original 12th-century cathedral that was destroyed in an earthquake. The cathedral boasts an opulent interior adorned with a painting of the Assumption of Mary by renowned Italian artist Titian.
The Cathedral of the Assumption is located in the historic center of Dubrovnik, near the Rector’s Palace, and has an architecture perfectly in line with the rest of the town. Originally built in the twelfth century, in place of pre-existing religious buildings, it took on its current Baroque forms with reconstruction in the late seventeenth century and early eighteenth following a strong earthquake that had almost completely destroyed it.

The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, located in Dubrovnik, is a noteworthy attraction that offers visitors a glimpse into the city's religious and architectural heritage. While it may not be the most awe-inspiring cathedral I've visited, it certainly holds its own charm and historical significance. The Baroque architecture of the cathedral is elegant, with a beautifully crafted facade and an impressive interior adorned with intricate altars and lovely artwork. The treasury, which houses a collection of religious relics and artifacts, is particularly interesting for those who appreciate history and art. However, the experience can be somewhat underwhelming compared to other grand European cathedrals. The interior, though beautiful, is relatively small and may not captivate those seeking a more majestic or elaborate setting. Additionally, during peak tourist seasons, the cathedral can become quite crowded, detracting from the overall experience. Overall, the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is worth a visit if you're exploring Dubrovnik's Old Town, especially if you have an interest in religious architecture and history. It's a pleasant stop, but perhaps not a standout in a city full of remarkable sights.

The cathedral is truly one of Dubrovnik's most charming spectacles. The church is quite beautiful, and open for tours 24/7, unless mass is in session. Confessions are some of the best parts od this church, because of a few priests' ability to speak English and Croatian. The church can be quite busy during services, so make sure to arrive 10 minutes before a service.

Dubrovnik Cathedral - Baroque Elegance and Treasured Relics Standing proudly at the end of Stradun where the grand Poljana Luza opens up, this luminous 18th-century barroque cathedral (Cathedral of the Assumption of the Vigin Mary) is the spiritual heart of Stari Grad. Rebuilt after the desvastating 1667 earthquake on the site of a much older Byzantine basilica (some say founded by Richard the Lionheart), its soaring dome and soft golden interior glow like a jewel box. Don't miss the exquisite main altar with Titian's polyptych masterpiece The Assumption, the glittering treasury filled with priceless gold and silver reliquaries (including the skull of St. Blaise encased in a jewel-encrusted crown), and the hauntingly beautiful modern stained-glass windows. The cool marble floors and gentle light in the late afternoon are pure serenity after the bustle of the streets. Climb the small steps to the treasury for one of the finest sacred art collections of the Adriatic. Free entry to the cathedral, small fee for the treasury. A peaceful, breathtaking must-visit.

A free to visit work of art. Originally built during the 12th Century, it was largely destroyed during the earthquake of 1667. It was rebuilt in Roman Baroque style. Reconstruction began in 1673 and it was completed four decades later in 1713. Some beautiful paintings in particular look out for the Triptych of the "Assumption of Mary" by Titian, above the main altar.

The Cathedral of the Assumption of Virgin Mary is a must see if you are visiting Dubrovnik. It was built between 1671 and 1773 but it was destroyed in 1667 by an earthquake. The medieval church is also is reffered to as Byzantine Basilicca. The cathedral is in Baroque design and they have one amazing beautiful organ.

I attended mass at this beautiful church. Although it was in Croatian, the rituals were traditionally Catholic & I prayed in English silently. The altar displays a painting by Titian of the Assumption. Magnificent work! Visit the reliquary - incredible relics of St. Blaise & other saints. Tickets to enter at €4.00.

Kavana Lazareti is a collection of interconnected buildings situated just outside the city walls. It was once used as a quarantine station during outbreaks of the plague and cholera in the 17th century. Nowadays, it has been repurposed into a makeshift coworking space that hosts various restaurants and cafes. The location offers floor-to-ceiling windows and is only a short walk from a world-class beach, making it an attractive place to work or dine.
One of the best pizzas I've ever had. This was our first stop when we arrived and the food was great. Unfortunately they didn't have draft Beer so we had to pay for really expensive bottles, but the food, service and atmosphere made up for it. Highly recommend this place
Hannah C — Google review
Pleasant, conveniently located restaurant with nicely prepared food, and okay prices given tourist locale. We ate lunch here, the mussels buzaru style were fresh and nicely prepared and came with bread, the seafood tagliatelle had nice squid, mussels, and tiny shrimp in a tasty red sauce. They did not have draft beer despite that being shown on the menu, a tiny bit disappointing, but the bottled beer Vukovarsko was good. Also had a glass of local white wine. Service was nothing special, pleasant enough, but did not really like the nice waiter pushing me to tip at payment time, so that backfired for him, as I understand it tips are only for exceptionally good service here in Croatia? Total bill 45 euro for two.

My wife and I we were quite hungry after long travel, and we were neither during the lunch or the dinner as somewhere between it but still the chef was kind enough to make us pasta which is not made during the hour that we visited. The pasta was vegetarian without any meat and it was excellent. I am pretty sure the pizza would have been tasted the same as well. The pasta was really very delicious and it was the best I have ever had. The place was not crowded as well, and the orders were delivered really fast.

We had a great experience at Lazareti, just a short walk from Plaža Banje beach. The atmosphere was super relaxed and welcoming, perfect after a day by the sea. We ordered the vegetarian pizza, and it was absolutely amazing—fresh ingredients, great crust, and full of flavor. Plus, it was very reasonably priced, which was a pleasant surprise considering the location. Definitely recommend if you’re in Dubrovnik and looking for a tasty, budget-friendly meal!

Winery Botaro is located in the heart of Konavle valley, surrounded by beautiful vineyards and Mediterranean greenery. The winery has a rich history dating back to 1540, and the family that owns it has preserved its long-standing traditions. Visitors can sample their top-quality wines, some of which have been awarded platinum medals. Guests praise the warm hospitality of the family, particularly Matea who is knowledgeable about their wines and offers great food pairing suggestions.
We booked a 3 hour wine tasting here in the afternoon and couldn't have been happier with our experience! It's a family run business and they truly love what they do. I was surprised at how much wine we were served, plus the amazing lunch and the liqueurs. They make all their own cheese, plus the wines, candied orange peel and many other products. Their wines are truly unique and can't be purchased in stores. We loved our afternoon learning about their family business and tasting all their wonderful products. We took an Uber from Dubrovnik, but you could also go there from Cavtat and it would be closer. It's easy to email them and set up a time and day, don't show up unannounced! It's so beautiful and peaceful there at their winery. It's truly and memorable experience, don't miss it when in the area, it was a highlight of our trip!

Mateea was an amazing host — friendly, knowledgeable, and running a lovely family winery. We tasted Chardonnay, Malvasia, Cabernet, Zinfandel, and a delicious rosé blend. The wines were excellent, and the olive oil was outstanding! The atmosphere was quiet, cozy, and truly special. Highly recommended!
Miss O — Google review
I cannot recommend this experience highly enough. My wife and I enjoyed a private tour of this small family-run winery. Matea, one of the owners along with her brother, gave us a brief history of the winery and the area. We enjoyed 5 (generous helpings) of their own wines from the Rose, Chardonnay, Malvasia, Botarus (Their own blend) and their flagship Cabernet Sauvignon. Each wine was accompanied by homemade cheeses, bread and cured meat, all created at the site. It was informative but also very interesting and enjoyable. The amazing setting in this valley with views of the Croatian mountains and beside the vines really made this a spectacular day for us. We even had an opportunity to walk amongst the vines and see all of the different grapes used to make these beautiful wines. We then finished the day with 5 different homemade liqueurs to round the visit off nicely. There is a small shop where we purchased a few bottles to take home with us and it was great that there was no pressure to do so. We would recommend this to anyone visiting Cavtat or Dubrovnik (40mins in a cab) and would return in a heartbeat. Thank you again to Matea and the whole family.

We had an amazing time here, the history of the winery and the family were shared as part of the total experience. Amazing wines, all pared with beautiful food from the property and Grandma's cheeses were the best, highly recommend

Went for our first ever wine tasting during our honeymoon. Not sure what I was expecting but they exceeded it. The atmosphere was cozy, and Matea was very knowledgeable. It’s very obvious that this family cares deeply about the consumers’ experience, and it’s not just a ploy to get you to buy their wine. They also provide homemade bread and cheese and smoked meats (grandma’s cream cheese was 12/10). That being said, we bought 2 bottles to bring back, because it was the smoothest wine we’ve ever tasted. We will definitely visit again someday

I went with my mother-in-law and father, and from the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with the warmth of true Croatian hospitality! If you’re in Dubrovnik and love wine, do not miss Winery Botaro! 🍇

The Local Museum Mirko Komnenović is a captivating destination that showcases the rich history and culture of the region. Housed in an exquisite baroque palace from Austro-Hungarian times, this museum boasts stunning architectural details both inside and out. Visitors can explore a variety of exhibits, including traditional costumes, musical instruments, and tools that reflect the area's heritage. The preserved rooms of the former residents offer a glimpse into life in bygone eras without restrictive signs—an inviting touch for guests.
Wonderful place for a short visit if you're exploring the history of Herceg Novi. The city museum "Mirko Komnenović" is set in a quiet area of the town's center, in the middle of a small, botanical garden that dates back in time almost 200 years ago. In the reception area you can buy more than affordable tickets, that can be used as postcards after the visit. A more than welcoming and well-mannered curator of the permanent museum exhibition will kindly answer questions related to the history of town, museum and museum exhibits among which you can see even the artifacts that date way back to 5 centuries B.C. One of the museum's most beautiful pieces is a parapet plate, from the 2nd half of the 11th century that belongs to the final pre-Romanesque art and represents the scene of angels who are adoring the cross from the church of st. Thomas Kuti. Among the museum's artifacts are various pieces of clothing, plates, furniture, weaponry and etc. Considering that the museum is adapted to the house of former mayor of Herceg Novi, one of the rooms on the lower level is dedicated to him and his family, in honor of his legacy. There you can see his accomplishments and pictures of awarded medals, as well as personal items and presidential chair that was used during the time of his mayorship. The upper level is more than intriguing, and has several thematically organized rooms in which you can see his old nautical items, spiritual corner and different icons that date back to 17th, 18th and 19th century. One of the most beautiful views on the entrance of the bay can be seen from the balcony of this museum. Seating area is set outside the building in a botanical garden, that earlier contained many different plant varieties. Absolute must see if you're visiting town, if you're fond of history and want to take a break from the city bustle.

Interesting museum with expositions ranging from history of the country to traditional costumes, music instruments and tools. It’s impressive that the rooms of the former family who lived there are preserved and you can feel a touch of old times. The absence of signs “Don’t touch” were also a pleasant surprise. Outside is a nice garden with a lonely lovely bench overlooking the bay. We visited it for free in the Museum day but I’d gladly pay 3€ for it.
Yakov P — Google review
I don’t recommend the museum except that there are no toilets there, and you can’t take pictures, they charge 3 euros each, besides all this, they also work there and I have never seen such an attitude towards visitors in any country in the world!

The Church of St. Blasius in Dubrovnik is a stunning example of Venetian Baroque architecture, constructed in 1715 to replace the original Romanesque church from the 14th century, which was destroyed by fire. It is considered one of the city's most attractive sacred structures and offers a calm and cozy atmosphere for reflection and recovery.
This is a lovely walk up to the church which seems to be closed most of the time. Wonderful views looking back to Dubrovnik and across to the islands. It is signposted so it is easy to find. The hill up is steep but short.

This scenic route takes about thirty minutes and is perfect for families, as it features shaded paths and gentle inclines. As you stroll along, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the azure waters surrounding the peninsula. The hike starts from level one of the hotel, where you’ll pass by a children's playground before venturing onto a rocky path.

I went here as a part of blue cave tour. Its a short passover, we went inside this tunnel for a bit and then came back. A submarine bunker from the wars this bunker has history during the world war II the navy has hidden their submarine here which is not visible for the enemy airforce. Similarly they had 2-3 bunkers near by. The locals had a famous line JAMES WHERE ARE YOU. As the movie james bond has shot here for a scene. Must visit.

It’s truly fascinating to see these old submarine tunnels from the inside during the boat tour. They’ve been preserved just as they were decades ago, and I totally recommend experiencing it. Originally used by the Yugoslavian army during World War II, these tunnels were cleverly hidden from view to avoid detection by enemies.

The place is amazing! Road is very tricky, we had to leave our car around 500 meters away from it, and the last 100 meters are bushes and wet stones, but definitely worth checking it out. We found a massive abandoned boat inside, it's very creepy and really great.
Mateusz S — Google review
The submarine tunnel is impressive to see, and is often included in the Kotor bay boat tour. HOWEVER, locals claim a scene of the James Bond movie "Casino Royale" was shot here, but there is absolutely no proof of this. The tourist boats even play the James Bond theme when inside the tunnel with a short audio track in English, but this is all made up. If I hadn't looked it up, I would have believed it.

Brilliant experience of sea kayaking with Mario at sunset. Three novices ranging from 14-50! Mario took the time to reassure us he could help us if we got too tired & waited patiently as we paddled away. I took my camera in a waterproof pouch but didn't need to bother & wish I hadn't as it was more hassle than it was worth - Mario sent me over 60 photos after we'd finished. Definitely a highlight of the holiday & would highly recommend just be prepared for a little hard work to paddle round the island 😊

Had a fantastic time with Mario. Booked the sunset tour. My wife and I were the only ones in the group so we got a private tour! We were a little worried as storm clouds were over the mountains and there were a couple rumbles but Mario reassured us with his local knowledge that everything would be fine and he was absolutely right. Stopped off at an island and had time to explore and then looped round to watch the sunset. Mario was fantastic, gave us some local history but also gave us space and let us enjoy the sunset which was unreal. Would highly recommend.

Really enjoyed our trip with Mario. Double kayak trip at a good pace. Mario shared his local knowledge and experiences of the chequered history of the area. We had a stop at a nearby island, the restaurant there was closed for the season so we were able to explore and if you wished there was the opportunity to have a swim. Lifejackets, dry bags and a waterproof tub for your phones are provided. Excellent trip.

What a super way to end the day in Cavtat. Bobbing about watching the sun set over The Adriatic. Mario is a knowledgeable local guide who will take you around the bay, we stopped off at a small beach to swim and snorkel and then just lazed about in our kayak watching yet another wonderful Croatian sunset.

Dubrovnik Game of Thrones Tours 🗡 offer an essential experience for fans of the show. The walking tours around the Old Town take visitors to iconic filming locations like Kings Landing and the Trsteno Arboretum, which served as the royal gardens of the Red Keep. Despite being crowded with tourists, Dubrovnik's coastal beauty and rich history, along with its Game of Thrones connections, make it a must-visit destination.
Gorgeous city and environment, albeit a bit crowded in the historic city centre at times. However, Cavtat or Lokrum (reachable by boat) are definitely worth the boat ride and are generally calmer.

Dubrovnik is a beautiful coastal city with fantastic views. Although it is very crowded with tourists, the Adriatic sea and the rich history of the place (not to mention the game of thrones filming locations !) make up for it. It is definitely to be put on one's bucket list !! And fyi, when you do go, instead of taking the cable car up to get a panoramic picture (which is an extremely short cable car ride and quite expensive) take one of the the car tours from the tour operators just outside Pile gate. Not only is this more reasonably priced, it takes you to two view points above the old city for spectacular views and drives you around the rest of Dubrovnik including a visit to River Ombla (one of the shortest rivers in the world !!). Also, the drivers are super nice and tell you a lot about Dubrovnik's history !! It is well worth doing this !

Adriatic Kayak Tours offers a chance to connect with nature through kayaking trips on the Adriatic Sea, providing stunning views of old walls from sea level and the opportunity to paddle past limestone cliffs while gazing up at imposing defensive ramparts. The guided tours also include visits to Lokrum Island's caves.
This was a major highlight of our trip! Our guide, Dom, was fantastic. So kind, knowledgeable, and patient (especially when I needed a break riding the bike uphill!). He was able to answer all our questions and shared a lot about Croatian culture. The views were phenomenal and seeing them by kayak and bike was extra special. The beach was so beautiful and lunch was delicious. Seeing these parts of Croatia gave us more perspective of life there outside of busy Dubrovnik (also amazing, though). I would recommend this trip for sure!

I worked with Ivan before completing my booking and he completely provided everything I requested. I was a bit picky too having a few extra needs, and he booked me into a hotel that provided the space I needed. I was separated from the group in fact but it worked out flawlessly. The paddling we did daily was perfect for all of us, we all had some experience at different levels. Our guide Dom catered to all our needs with a smile, I had a hard time carrying the boat and he’d at times transport it for me. (Before and after our paddles mostly). Every day we a different scenery and varied experiences, swimming in a cave, visiting a botanical garden, and even cycling after paddling to the island. The food was great, every meal cooked to perfection. It was a great week island hopping and I’d highly recommend it.

I think positive feedback is always useful, especially when much of the focus is often on how expensive Dubrovnik and the surrounding area is (I don't disagree with this, but we've managed to find affordable places). Yesterday, we went on a full day kayaking tour round Lopud with Adriatic Kayak Tours. We took the ferry from Koločep, where we are staying, and met our guide Dom in Lopud. We were kitted out and given a selection of sea kayaks to try. Myself and my husband are keen sea kayakers at home so we're a bit more thorough in our choice of kayak, but were pleased to see respected models of kayaks available. Dom was a great guide; calm, friendly, interesting, and, compared to previous Mediterranean experiences, gave a good safety overview before we set off. It was a lovely paddle, with a decent amount of water traffic to negotiate at times, but this did not spoil the trip. Šunj beach was my least favourite part of the day with lots of bathers and various sized boats crammed into a beach that, to be honest, felt nothing special. However, it is the only real option to pull kayaks ashore, rest, and have food (we brought our own lunch. The restaurant was apparently very expensive). We stopped again on a tiny pebble beach and had a wonderful snorkel and swim, before the final paddle back into Lopud. In an expensive place, our full day trip was only €70 per person. Excellent value. We would pay the same, or more in GBP at home. I would recommend Adriatic Kayak Tours. Real sea kayaks (not sit-on-tops), an excellent guide, beautiful scenery, and a good company to communicate with. P.S. we both now want P&H Leos to add to our fleet at home!

We had an amazing experience with Ivan, hiring kayaks for 3 days to self tour around the Croatian islands. Ivan helped us do some mapping & finding spots to stay and visit along the way. His experience and equipment was all amazing and we had no problems at all. Thank you!
Tamara D — Google review
Amazing day trip from Lopud with guide Dom. He shared his extensive knowledge of local history (over the last 1000 years) paired with fabulous guiding and clear instructions. Good quality sea kayaks (not sit upon kayaks) that are safe for exploring the nearby islands. Wonderful excursion with only 2 guests on a gorgeous day in September. We stopped at a sea cave, snorkeled, had amazing lunch, and back to Lopud in time for the last ferry. Highly recommend this tour. Wish we could stay for a multi day trip.
Stephanie K — Google review
This was my second trip with Adriatic Kayaking Tours. I was a little apprehensive about booking for a second time because the first trip (three years ago) had been so spectacular, I thought it would be impossible to live up to that first experience. I did, however, really want my sister to share the experience so we went ahead and booked for a week. It was absolutely the right decision! We had a fabulous time together with my Dad who joined us. This company is run by lovely people who are passionate, professional, friendly, knowledgable and very authentic. I don't have a lot of experience of kayaking but, just like last time, I felt looked after and in safe hands from the moment we arrived. The sleepy island of Lopud was a perfect base for our week with no roads and the warm sea to swim in each morning and evening. A big highlight of the tour for me was the delicious food each day (with freshly-caught Sea Bream being my favourite!). The attention to detail in the planning of these tours provides varied and fulfilling days with kayaking, snorkelling, cliff jumping, cave swimming and bike riding as additional options on the trip. With just the right balance of safety guidance, support, historical knowledge and humour from our guide, Ivan, this trip was just like my first one - truly memorable! One element of these trips is that you join a small group of like-minded people and have the opportunity to make connections and potentially new friends (which I'm happy to say was the case on our trip!) This summer was my Dad's 6th holiday with Adriatic Kayaking Tours (which tells you all you need to know really!). In the 20 years since he first started kayaking, he has gained a lot of experience and, through these tours, he has made friendships which have seen him travel to different parts of the world to meet up with fellow paddlers. If you are wondering about a kayaking holiday but are uncertain in any way, I am confident that you won't regret placing yourself in the capable hands of this team. Whether you already have kayaking experienced or it is your very first time, this tour provides just the right balance of challenge, laid-back adventure, discovery, relaxation and calm within a beautiful landscape and the blue waters of the Adriatic. I will definitely be back again! Thanks to Ivan 1, Ivan 2, Mislav, Tammy and everyone else involved in running Adriatic Kayaking Tours! Thank you for another wonderful trip!

We had a day from Lopud, in kayaks to Sipan. Bike ride to Sipanska Luka. Lunch at Konoba Kod Marka- an excellent food experience, and a bike ride back to Sudurad and paddled back to Lopud. Our guide, Dom, was a great communicator, flexible and very pleasant and made us feel safe on the whole trip!

At Bio Konavle, adventure awaits as you saddle up for a memorable horseback ride through the enchanting Konavle Valley. This experience allows you to connect with gentle Icelandic horses while exploring Dubrovnik's stunning countryside, filled with lush meadows and vibrant wildlife. After an exhilarating ride, take a refreshing dip in the serene Ljuta River or simply unwind on its banks as your equine companions frolic nearby.
Really nice way of coming to rest and enjoy the beautiful nature of Croatia. For me was first time getting on a horse and the ride is really suited for beginners level. For more experienced riders it’s maybe a little less suited. Maybe that the ranch can offer a more adventurous trail in the future. Also enjoyed the glass of wine (from the same owner as the ranch) at the end of the ride. It was not possible to buy any bottles from that wine at the ranch so that will be mine last recommendation for the future!

Bio Konavle is set in such beautiful surroundings and with very professional people taking care of it. Offered by Kojan Koral in the charming village of Radocici, this adventure allows you to navigate through the picturesque Konavle region on small ATV vehicles—no driver's license required! This isn't your typical city tour; instead, it offers a unique perspective from mountain viewpoints that showcase breathtaking vistas.

This experience was perfect it was exactly what we expected. The equipment was in great shape and they try to make sure everyone gets a chance to drive that wants a chance to drive. We did this as an excursion through our cruise ship so it was all organized for us ahead of time. There was 14 in our group. We had 2 on each quad and one lead quad from the excursion provider and another was in the middle. Pictures were of the views we had from our first break it was amazing! The ride itself was definitely "off-road" for some lengthy sections. And on pavement and through town on other sections.

Strazisce is a captivating destination nestled in the picturesque Konavle region, offering an array of outdoor adventures for nature enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Visitors can embark on organized hiking tours to stunning locations like Snjeznica and Eskulaps cave, or enjoy biking through the scenic vineyards of Konavle field.
We walked from Cavtat to the start of the hike up to the top of the Ronald Brown memorial trail. Approximately 10 miles round trip. We saw 3 snakes, 1 large rat snake (non venomous) and 2 horned vipers (venomous) so keep an eye on the vegetation! Fantastic views but be aware when you get to the top that if using your i phone it thinks you're in Bosnia as its very close to the border!

Embark on an exhilarating 6.1-mile hike along The Ronald Brown Pathway, commencing from Obod near Cavtat. This moderately challenging trail offers breathtaking views of Dubrovnik and the Adriatic Sea. Named in honor of Ron Brown, this former Austrian Military road leads to the Strazisce peak where the American trade minister met his tragic fate. The well-maintained path is suitable for regular hillwalkers, although sturdy footwear is recommended due to some steep sections.
Amazing views of the Adriatic Coast from Dubrovnik to Cavtat. You'll need good hiking shoes and A LOT of water. Once you are at the top, be sure to reward yourself in the unique Konoba Konavoski Komin :)

A nice hike. Path is mostly rocks so shoes with hard soles would be nice. Took me almost 4 hours overall but this is including a ~40min stop at the restaurant and a detour of ~30min. Be careful not to miss the turn to the right going up to the peak on the second half of the hike.
Paulius S — Google review

Did this hike starting from Obod with my 7yo daughter and 63yo mother, both of whom are fairly regular hillwalkers. Took us 5 hours up and down, including 30 minutes for lunch at the top and a good few water/snack stops en route. Path is well maintained and easy to follow. We were wearing trainers which was just about okay but a light walking shoe would have been better. The final ascent from the western side above Velji Do was quite steep but only took 20 minutes. We descended on the eastern side which was much easier. The restaurant at Velji Do was closed which was slightly disappointing. According to our host, it’s open less and less nowadays so worth checking ahead beforehand. We went in April and it was warm and quite exposed in places so water, snacks and sun cream a must.

The Glossus Humanus Shell Museum in Cavtat is a recently established and impressive museum. It features an extensive permanent exhibition of seashells gathered from various oceans worldwide. With a collection of 3,000 different species, it ranks among the largest collections in Europe. What sets this museum apart is that the owner personally collected many of these shells, providing visitors with detailed explanations during their visit.
I never thought I could be moved to tears by shells..! This family-run museum was born out of a passion for diving, sea exploration, and shell conservation. We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves and one of the curators talked us through the exhibition, pointing out exhibits of interest, including shells that were over 165 million years old. I was particularly moved by the small exhibit of molluscs that are already extinct or nearing extinction. A lovely and informative museum to visit.

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Cavtat The Shell Museum in Cavtat is a small but incredibly charming and educational place, perfect for a quick yet enriching visit. Despite its modest size, the museum houses an impressive collection of shell specimens from all over the world’s oceans. It’s truly remarkable how many fascinating examples are displayed within such a compact space. A special thanks goes to the lovely lady who runs the museum – her warm welcome, engaging presentation, and willingness to answer every question made the experience even more enjoyable. Her passion and knowledge brought the exhibits to life and added a personal touch that made the visit memorable. Whether you’re exploring solo or with family, this museum offers a peaceful and informative stop. It’s conveniently located right in the center of Cavtat, just a few hundred meters from the main bus station and tourist information center. Highly recommended for anyone looking to learn something new and appreciate the beauty of the sea in a cozy setting!

Well worth the 7 euros entry fee.

The Karis walking path is a loop that it can start either at the parking place or from the monastery. Is a nice walk as there's the shade from the pine trees, but you have also got the sea breeze from the Adriatic coast. There's couple of bays for swimming or sunbathing but most of them are very rocky. The path is ideal for walking running, cycling or jogging and is flat.

Nestled in the charming village of Cilipi, the Zavičajni muzej Konavala, or Konavle County Museum, is a treasure trove of cultural heritage that dates back to its establishment in 1974. This delightful museum offers visitors an intimate look at the region's traditions through its impressive collection of folk costumes, intricate embroidery, and various local artifacts. Despite facing challenges during wartime, the museum remains a vibrant testament to Konavle's unique history and customs.
Very interesting place. A good place to learn about turkish traditional wear, the art of 'rearing' silk worms, fabrics and the uses in history and tradition. I would love to visit again and ask more questions, we were short on time unfortunately. The lady at the desk was very helpful and knowledgeable

Stopped by the Konavle County Museum on a Sunday and ended up having one of the best cultural experiences in the area. The museum is small but packed with beautifully preserved folk costumes, tools, and everyday items that tell the story of life in Konavle. The embroidery alone is worth the visit-stunning detail and tradition in every piece. Right next to the museum is the Church of St. Nicholas, and after the morning mass, the square came alive with a local folklore performance. Traditional music, dancing, colorful costumes-it felt authentic and full of life, not touristy at all. Staff were friendly and clearly care about preserving the culture. If you're in the area, especially on a Sunday, don't miss this. It's a perfect mix of historv, tradition, and atmosphere. Highly recommended!

The location was serene and picturesque, and the presentation, wines, and accompanying snacks were excellent. Hearing about the vineyard’s history made the experience even more enjoyable and memorable.

A Must-Visit in Dubrovnik! If you’re in Dubrovnik or anywhere nearby, this winery is an absolute must. The family is incredibly welcoming and friendly, the wine is outstanding, and the view is breathtaking. My husband and I had such a beautiful, memorable experience—we can’t recommend it enough!

A well-located place in the Konavle Valley near Dubrovnik Airport: you will discover a welcoming family who will lovingly explain this rich terroir and an exceptional grape variety now found in many parts of the world: but here is the mother land ! A tasting of fine and rare wines. Simply magical.
Laaser K — Google review
The owners of this winery were the most genuine sweet people ever. The winery was absolutely beautiful and the wine was SO good. 10/10 recommend this place. So peaceful and relaxing. We had the best afternoon

Winery Malvasija Karaman is a charming, family-run winery nestled in the Dubrovnik region, surrounded by lush vineyards. The visit was made special by the young owner, who warmly welcomed us and passionately shared the history of the vineyard and the winemaking process. 🍇 We tasted both the dry and dessert versions of Malvasija Dubrovačka and were truly impressed by their quality and character. 🥂 The winery’s courtyard is beautiful and peaceful, full of greenery and shaded by local trees — a perfect setting to enjoy exceptional local wine. 🪴

We had the privilege of booking the full tasting and tour at this family owned winery in Konavle. The family operates the vineyards as well as the tasting facility. It is managed with pride and it speaks volumes of this region’s historical struggle to preserve the tradition in light of both natural Nd human forces of destruction. The patriarch was able to create what you see today out of a few remaining vines some several decades ago. Take a look at how they have flourished today. The winery offers two main varieties - dry and sweet malvasija. The sweet version is equivalent to Canadian late harvest wine. Not as sweet as ice wine but sweeter than regular. It is a good finish wine after a hearty meal. We are super thankful to the family for their wonderful hospitality.

Beach Rat is a charming spot located on the peninsula Rat in Cavtat. The beach offers a stunning backdrop of the bay with turquoise waters and green pine forests. While there are sunbed areas available for a fee, some visitors prefer to find private spots away from the crowds. The beach itself has large stones and pebbles, so it may not be ideal for those seeking sandy shores.
The best beach I've been to in Cavtat. Really nice with just enough shade and benches along the road. Very calm and too crowded. There is a nice restaurant nearby. Entry to water isn't that difficult either. There isn't much shallow area, most of the sea is deep here (100cm+).
Andreja M — Google review
A lovely walk round the coast of Cavtat or walk up to the church and graveyard Plenty of places to eat and drink along the way and especially in Cavtat itself Get the number 10 bus from Lapad bus station
Catherine M — Google review
The beach it was a bit rocky for my liking, but the water, it was clear and invited. It was very popular with swimmers and sunbathers. There's a restaurant there but also, a small kiosk selling cold drinks and ice creams. I have found the umbrella and sunbeds a bit expensive at 7 euros for a sunbed and 3 euros for an umbrella. There's also a massage place there too. For the showers you need to pay for at 50 cents and you get a coin from the kiosk too.
Kypriopoulla — Google review
A bit of a rocky area and sea shoes needed but overall a really nice 👍 little bar here reasonably priced but better to bring your own drinks, food etc and have a nice picnic 🧺
Pauly — Google review
Nice beach with some easy access to water. You can rent long chairs but also just lie on the stone. There is a nice restaurant nearby and an ice cream stand/kiosk. There is also small cabin for changing the clothes. No shower though. The sun is mostly on the other side so there is a lot of shade.
Olga I — Google review
If you don’t mind the rocks and concrete it is an amazing spot, the water wasn’t cold in July/August and you can find some spots to sunbath. Just make sure to take your water shoes as this beach is full of urchin
Patrick F — Google review
Visited here a couple of times during our stay in Cavtat. Lovely clear water for swimming and snorkeling in. No sand all pebbles and concrete which is ok if you don't like sand. Sun beds and umbrellas to hire, cheaper than some places, more expensive than others. Great restaurant with good food and cold beer too.
Andy L — Google review
We looked for a private spot away from the sunbeds. For the sunbed areas, you have to pay. As we stayed there for 1-2 hours, this was not an option for us. The beach itself has big stones and pebbles. Those who are looking for beach sands, won't be happy here. Tip on entering the water: slippers or water shoes make the entrance easier. The water is crystal clear, and with goggles, you can even see small fish. After 5 or 10 metres, the water is getting deep and is full of seagrass. It was a bit scary for my boyfriend who is not a swimming pro. But for me, it was not a problem.

Church of St. Nicholas is a small Romanesque church dating back to the 11th century, making it one of the oldest in Dubrovnik. The interior is described as raw and simple, reflecting its historical roots. Situated on Prijeko Street, this beautiful church features a pre-Romanesque style and can be easily found at the end of the street.
A Quiet Jewel of Faith and History – Church of St. Nicholas, Dubrovnik Tucked slightly away from the main tourist trail, the Church of St. Nicholas in Dubrovnik is a peaceful and often overlooked treasure. While it may not have the grand scale of some of the city's more famous landmarks, this small Orthodox church holds its own with a quiet dignity, a rich sense of heritage, and a welcoming atmosphere. Located near the Old Port, the church dates back to the 12th century, though it has undergone several rebuilds over the centuries. The current structure reflects both Baroque and Byzantine influences, and it's still an active place of worship for Dubrovnik’s Eastern Orthodox community. Inside, you’ll find a warm, intimate space filled with religious icons, rich woodwork, and candlelight that creates a beautifully serene mood. The iconostasis (a wall of icons and religious paintings) is particularly striking and offers a glimpse into Orthodox religious artistry. Whether you're religious or not, the craftsmanship and atmosphere are worth appreciating. Because it's less frequented by the crowds, it's also a lovely spot to pause and reflect — especially if you’ve spent the day walking the busy streets of Old Town.

A small old church worth to see near the Ploče gate. It’s got a beautiful entrance door and 2 big bells on the top. There’s a restaurant beside it.
Maria K — Google review
A very small stone church. Beautiful, but not out of the ordinary. I don't think it's a tourist attraction, it doesn't need a stop. You can find it at the end of Prijeko Ulica street, a tourist street, full of small restaurants.

It is located on Zlatarska ul., a side street next to the Dominican monastery in the direction of Buza Gate. This is a Romanesque church, with a very simple interior.

(Translated by Google) The church appears in many paintings, located at the end of a narrow street. Unfortunately, the view is impossible to recreate due to the pubs located on that street. It's up to your imagination. (Original) Kościół widnieje na wielu obrazach, znajdując się na zakończeniu wąskiej uliczki. Beach Žal in Cavtat is a popular destination for vacationers, featuring a long pebble beach with stunning water colors that partially turns into a sandy beach. This makes it ideal for families with children who can enjoy bathing without the need for water shoes. The area offers excellent tourist amenities including restaurants, bars, and accommodations. Visitors can rent sunbeds and parasols while enjoying the inflatable playground in the clear waters.
CASH ONLY. We spent 6 days in a row at this beautiful beach - perfect location, calm waters, toilets and changing rooms free to use, shower €30 cents for 30 seconds and plenty of food and drink options. The beach has pebbles and small rocks for the most part, becomes sandy once you make your water further into the water. Some water sport options to choose from. There’s a small food truck kind of a stall as you enter the beach from the main road run by a very sweet lady Nikolina - that was our standard lunch almost all days ( made to order sandwiches/burgers at a very reasonable price) Sun beds and umbrellas aren’t cheap but good service by the staff - €22 for two sunbeds with mattress and one umbrella. (€7 per sunbed, €1 for mattress, €6 for the umbrella) It was busier over the weekend but not that crowded during the week. Bring cash - everything here is cash only! It has become one of our favourite places in Cavtat and would happily return.

Crystal-clear water, but there are a lot of people – a typical beach: long, noisy with the sound of crowds, and sunbeds packed side by side. The inflatable attractions for children are great. Payment is cash only, but luckily there’s an ATM right by the beach.
Jana M — Google review
Amazing place to spend the day before going to the airport. You only need 10 min to the airport. 15 euro 2 sunbeds and 1 umbrella so cheap comparing to Dubrovnik. We ate ice cream and chips also reasonable prices. It is very difficult to find parking. We hired pedal boat for 10 euro 30 minutes we had so much fun. It is a beach for families mostly with children. They have public shower 30 cent for 1 minutes, not closed but outdoor. And they have a place to change your clothes as well.
Melissa A — Google review
Lovely clean beach, clear water, rocky beach but gets sandy a few meters into the water, €22 for two sun loungers with cushions and a parasol for the day
Harriet S — Google review
Stony beach, swimming shoes necessary. Few metres from the shore sand, it gets deep quite quickly so it is pleasant to swim. Clear and clean water, you can watch the fish. In September, the inflatable aquapark disappeared and nothing obstructed the view of Dubrovnik and the towns along the Dubrovnik Bay. Beautiful sunsets and views also in the evening/night.
M. B — Google review
If you're already in Cavtat, then this beach is probably okay, but otherwise it's not worth going there for this beach. Water is not as clean and it's painful to get in the water each time because of the shap stones. Also, they only accept cash here.
Marin T — Google review
Beautiful beach. Its a public stoney beach with a lot of sunbeds to hire and not alot of room if you don't want a sun bed. However they are so cheap to hire for the day. There are loads of things to do and plenty to eat and drink. The water is crystal clear and makes for a beautiful early morning swim when noone else is around.... With the most beautiful sunsets
Lisa O — Google review
Great beach, water is crystal clear. Lots of activities to do such as the amazingly fun aquapark, peddle boats, paddle boarding and just a short walk up the beach to the Epidauram where you can do parasailing, diving, banana boat, jet skiing.
