Narva Town Hall is a reconstructed 17th-century building located in the scenic Narva Promenade, offering a bold first impression with its riverfront location along the Narva River. The three-story town hall, built in Dutch classicism style, features an elegant openwork tower with a weather vane in the form of a crane fixed on its spire. Inside, visitors can explore the historical significance of the building and view an enormous paper model of old Narva with all its buildings.
It's a historical building opened after full renovation summer 2023. Open for public as the Narva Tourist Information is located on the 1st floor. They also have a fantastic VR experience there, you can see the most beautiful baroc city as Narva was before II WW. A must see experience in Narva!

Well renovated and beautiful buildings, if possible, step inside!

Interesting from a historical point of view. Keeps the spirit of past inside. It has enormous paper model of Narva with all its buildings. Those paper models are the main thing here, in Town Hall, so you wouldn’t have to spent much time here :) Then you can proceed to the cafe in a nearby building.

Narva had a beautiful Old Town with scenic old streets and houses. Sad that there's almost nothing left after the WWII. This is a place where you can almost imagine how it looked like before. City Hall was finished in 1671, Stock Exchange in 1704.

Whether one is an expert in the field or not, this gallery provides ample opportunities for enchantment throughout the course of a day. It houses a compelling exhibition that deserves greater footfall, symbolizing its significance in promoting artistic expression and appreciation.
Worth to visit, you’ll get better understanding of the history of Narva. Went to see Aleksander Normak works and didn’t disappoint, thank you!
Siim S — Google review
A two-floor small art gallery continuing the exhibition of the history of Narva. It is more than artwork displays; the miniature replicating the old times of Narva city is inside this museum as well. The entrance ticket is included if you already have the Narva museum ticket. It is just a nice 10-minute walk from the Narva museum (the castle) to this art gallery.

Not sooooo big, but ! Cute artistic approach on Narva city. Art about Narva, but also art made by Narva people. Do visit 👍
DJ N — Google review
It was quite small and the exhibitions were not curated. The setting was off. Didn’t really learn much there. Maybe it is worth while when you don’t know anything about art or Narva history. Someone just made a wall art in the back of the Gallery when I passed by- that was cool!

Historical landmark
Hermann Castle, also known as Narva Castle, is a historic fortress with origins dating back to the 13th century. Originally constructed by the Danes, this stronghold has played a significant role in the city's tumultuous history, witnessing numerous conflicts and changes of power. Positioned strategically near the Russian border, it served as a crucial military outpost. The castle sits atop a hill and offers scenic trails through surrounding woods and vantage points that provide stunning views of its surroundings.
Very interesting history, definitely worth a trip to Narva for this.

Excellent museum and beautiful castle with an unusual history and location just across the Narva River from its Russian counterpart.
Pam G — Google review
In the far east of Estonia, the keep of Hermann Castle (also known as Narva Castle) rises 51 meters above the Narva River. As part of the Livonian Crusade (1198-1290), the Danes conquered Northern Estonia and established the Duchy of Estonia there. To guard their eastern border, the Danes built a wooden fortress in Narva, a favorable intersection of trade routes. After several armed conflicts with Novgorod and Pskov, the first all-stone castle with 40-meter-high walls was built in the early 14th century to ensure effective border control. After the Livonian Order acquired the Duchy of Estonia in 1346, they adapted the castle somewhat to their needs. The construction of Ivangorod Castle on the other side of the river/border led to the construction of the enormous Hermann Tower and the wall surrounding the city of Narva. The city walls didn't survive the many changes of power (they were demolished in 1777), and the castle itself barely survived the various wars. Thanks to several restorations, the last eight-year restoration completed in 2024, Narva now boasts one of the most intact medieval castles in Estonia. An imposing castle with an interesting museum that makes the trip to Narva worthwhile.
Koen — Google review
(Translated by Google) It is interesting to explore the museum with the audio guide you get at the ticket office. However, the whole process was quite a maze and it was difficult to understand how to navigate logically. At first, they didn't say that it would be best to start from the 3rd floor. It is worth taking almost a whole day to leisurely walk through the entire castle and look and listen to the information. (Original) On huvitav piletikassas saadud audiogiidiga muuseumit avastada.

The River Promenade, also known as the Narva Promenade, is a stunning riverfront area along the Narva River, offering picturesque views of the Narva and Ivangorod fortresses. It's an ideal spot for leisurely walks and provides a beautiful vantage point to observe Russia on the opposite bank. The promenade is beautifully landscaped with benches, viewing platforms, and a bicycle lane.
A very well built promenade. It's a pity that the summer cafes were closed in the hot weather.

Such an interesting place. You can view the Russian shore from the nice, park like setting on Narva’s shore. The view of the fortresses on both sides of the river. The promenade hosts nice walking paths, places to sit and a few cafes.

Ivangorod Fortress, founded in 1492, is a riverside castle located on the border between Estonia and Russia. It stands across the Narva River from Narva Castle, creating a stunning panorama. The fortress and castle overlook the strategic Narva River, historically controlling important trade routes of the Baltic Sea. Ivangorod Fortress is an impressive blend of military architecture and natural beauty, offering picturesque walkable ramparts, a picture gallery, and local history displays.
Visited only from Estonian side, but still very impressive and photogenic castle.

Impressive medieval castle. Haven't got inside, but outside look is magnificient.
Natie N — Google review
We drove more than two hours from St. Petersburg to see the fortress and Ivangorod itself. In the end, they wouldn't even let us into the city because they required some kind of passes. This is crazy! A Russian with a Russian passport must get a pass to get into a Russian city. How would an ordinary tourist even know that he needs a pass?! A big hello to domestic tourism! With such an attitude, they'll never get enough money to go to a normal toilet in this fortress.

oh my what a fortress and museum!!! I have visited hundreds of castles and fortress in Europe and the world but this one is outstanding for the size, the quality of restoration and the state of conservation. walking on the walls you can see magnificent views of narva river and narva facing fortress. the museum is a nicely restored antique building with the whole story of ivangorod and nice models and pictures. there is also a very interesting play area for children where they can play the archaeologist work by digging artifacts in the sand. definitely worh a visit!!!

The Swedish Lion statue in Narva is a striking monument standing about 8 meters tall, including its pedestal. It was erected in 2000 near the Narva Castle to commemorate the Swedish victory in the battle near Narva. The location offers a great view of both the Narva Castle and the Ivangorod Fortress across the river. Visitors can capture stunning photos of these historic landmarks, especially at night when they are illuminated.
The best view on both Narva castle and Russian fortress ☺️
Stefania T — Google review
This Swedish lion honors the soldiers who lost their lives on 30 November 1700 (19 November according to the Julian Calendar) during the Battle of Narva. The Swedish King Charles XII defeated the three times larger Russian army of Peter the Great, thus confirming Swedish hegemony in Northern Europe.
Koen — Google review
The Swedish Lion or The lion monument are two statues erected as monuments of the battle of Narva in 1700 in the city of Narva in Estonia. The first version, a copy of one of the lions at the Stockholm Palace, was erected by an entrance to the city in 1936 but was destroyed during World War II. A new version, a copy of the Medici lion of the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts, was erected by the Narva river in 2000.

Beautiful statue and park
Pam G — Google review
I launched my ultralight 249 gram mavic mini to take some shots of the statue and fortresses. made sure to stay below 150m and i maintained visual eye contact on the drone. The police showed up within 10 minutes and detained me for an hour and a half. They said it was within 5km of the russian border which violates the law. They took their time filling out paperwork and wouldnt make an exception to the fact that the drone is 249g not above 250. They made me miss my train, and they gave me a 100 Euro Ticket. didn't explain how foreigners can pay the bill, only that i can go to the bank. so i went to multiple banks and they won't help. you actually need to go to the post office. Anyways, don't fly your drone here...
Toby S — Google review

Alexander's Cathedral, located in Narva, is a stunning Christian basilica with a high altar and ceiling adorned with gold trimmings. The cemetery is the final resting place of several notable individuals. Nearby, another Alexander's Cathedral stands closer to the river, featuring a worn yet intriguing layout. Visitors can explore their family heritage here and receive valuable information from knowledgeable staff. The cathedral also houses a museum and video installations for an immersive experience.
ℹ️ 3€ tower + museum; 2€ video installation. Cash only! 💶 This was my favourite tourist spot in Narva. 🎥 Video installation was something that I did not expect in a church and it looked amazing. Museum was quite interesting too, even though it's small - about 30-60 min to see everything. The church itself was built in 1881-1884, but unfortunately it was totally destroyed during the WWII.

Great place to find the links for your family heritage. I should be thankful to the lady who was inside when I've entered a lot. She provided me with so much relevant information about my Estonian ancestors who were born and lived in Narva, but also supplied me with leads on how to reach people in Narva who might have provided further information. This place preserves the Holy Spirit. My great-grandfather was baptized there. The picture (from the original church book) attached depicts the local priest who served in the church and later relocated to Australia.

The Alexander Lutheran Church (Church of the Memory of Emperor Alexander II) in Narva is a church dedicated to the Russian Emperor Alexander II. It was built in Narva in 1881-1884 in the neo-Romanesque style. Before the war, it was the largest church building in Estonia. The author of the temple's design was academician Otto von Gippius from St. Petersburg.

An amazing church with an incredible architecture. The tower is well preserved and contains an interesting exhibition. The main part of the church, unfortunately, is in decay and there does not seem to be enough money to restore it. Actually, I visited it more than 10 years ago and back then it was still more or less safe to visit the sitting areas. Now it is not.

Grand building, that is almost in ruins after the neglect during Soviet rule. The church was built for 5000 people and the present size of the congregation is 70 people. The tower was reconstructed in 2008, and since then the building is beautifully lit after dark.

Built in 1890-1896 for the workers of Kreenholm. One of the few buildings that were not damaged during the WWII. The time has passed and now it's surrounded by Soviet-time apartment buildings. One of the "must have" activities in Narva. Pick an audioguide, warm clothes and enjoy those wet and dark caves. Avoid high heels and prefer rubber boots.

Fama Centre is a contemporary shopping and entertainment complex located in Narva, built on the historical Fama suburb's site. The area was once an important trading hub in the 17th century. The center offers a mix of shopping, dining, and entertainment options, showcasing a modern side of Narva. It houses various shops including banks, electronics stores, mobile service providers, department stores, furniture outlets, supermarkets, and diverse fast-food restaurants like KFC.
Interesting shopping center, worth visiting if you're in Narva. The layout is quite odd as it's not possible to go through entire center without backtracking. There is a good variety of shops and restaurants. The place has a military theme and it's quite interesting to explore all the items they have on display.
DMINATOR — Google review
Fama is quite small centre so I wouldn't say that it's great for shopping, but there is a good selection of everything that you may look for. Some clothing brands, some electronic shops, furniture, jewelry, restaurants etc. Interior looks modern and clean. Good for groceries.

Decent little shopping center in Narva Estonia. We visited just for a day from Russia. The food at Rimi market in the mall is great.

Seems to cover all the necessities. Although most activity is on the ground floor there are two level above. Shops include bank, electronics shop, mobile service provider, small department store, furniture shop, supermarket, fast food of various types including KFC, the upper levels are more of services geared towards locals. In the parking area there's a self serve wand car wash.

It's my favourite shopping centre in Narva. Although the other one is bigger and posher, Fama in general has cheaper prices and its toilets have easier and more convenient access.

Restoran Rondeel is a European restaurant located in the historic city of Narva. It offers delicious food and has received positive reviews for its menu. The restaurant is recommended as one of the best dining options in Narva, making it a must-visit for anyone in the area. Visitors have praised dishes such as goat cheese salad, moose, and chicken, highlighting the superb quality of the food.
I grew up in Narva and came to visit this place after a long time. We liked everything - the atmosphere , menu & prices, staff, service and especially the food! Everything was great! We took beef tartar (it was amazing!), grilled sausages, baked eggplant and duck with green veggies. Be aware that main courses may come without any sidedish and in this seasonal menu they didn't offer any of them as an extra, but we just took starters instead and enjoyed everything very much! I'm glad there is such a great place to eat in Narva, especially after visiting museum or walking on promenade. And of course they have amazing terrace upside where you can enjoy the view and relax in hammocks.
Greta — Google review
Why not 5? Though I liked the atmosphere and service, I was not impressed with the meal. Desserts and starters (lamprey) were delicious, but unfortunately they didn't have the main dish that I really wanted. I ordered chicken breast with mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables instead. Tasted like a regular home-made food. It was great, but nothing exciting. My friend ordered zander with potato pureè and green vegetables - it looked almost identical to my dish. All in all it was still my favourite food experience in Narva. Great place to visit after a walk in Narva Castle.
Helen V — Google review
Serves a big variety of craft beer which can be found on the second floor inside the restaurant, the beers aren't mentioned in the menu though. The food was really good, different tastes were very well combined. The sausages were very juicy and the duck was served with crispy salad and complimenting beetroot sauce. The presentation was beautiful aswell. Don't expect to get side dishes (potatoes, fries etc) with your main dish.

Affordable, great service, in fluent Estonian no less. Nice view of the fortress and they have a hammock for kids.

We visited this place as a family : two adults and a baby on May 20, 2019. The place has a nice historic atmosphere. Food is gorgeous and unique, though service is disgusting: we ordered meat with porridge, soup from sour milk with lamprey eel and then I asked an advice from the blonde young waiter if fried lamprey eel with poach egg (9€) was good and the waiter said it was interesting. The order was made but waiter didn't read it back. Woman brought dishes and I started to eat mine while paying attention to a baby. Soon I realized that she brought me lamprey eel in wine for 18€!!!! So I asked her that the order was different and she brought the ell that i ordered. Later on we asked if we needed to pay for the other dish and she said that they will give some discount. But we don't want to pay for something we didn't order?! Have you seen anything like that before??? She said that as I ate some that we need to pay! After her mistake!!! Then waiter said that she will exclude one of the dishes and guess what? She excluded the one for 9€ !! We refused to pay for the thing we didn't order so she with unsatisfied face gave us another bill where we payed only for things we ordered. The situation is unacceptable me and my husband thought that maybe that's the way they cheat customers hoping that they won't notice the difference between 9€ and 18€. Be careful visiting this place!!!

Cafeteria
Bublik CAFÉ offers delicious food and friendly service with a wide variety of both hot and cold beverages, including Russian cuisine. It is conveniently located near the border crossing point and train station, making it a cozy option for travelers. However, one downside is that there is no table service available for outdoor seating. This can be frustrating as customers may have to wait at the table without realizing they need to order at the counter.
Lovely bistro that serves authentic Russian food. The coffee is good too. It gets busy very fast, we had to wait a bit for a table, maybe we had the rush hour.

I came to this place on a friday evening to get some warm drink and a cake. The place is very cozy, they also have tables outside. I ordered a Tea and a slice of cheesecake. The order came shortly. The cake tasted good the tea was also great. Overall I pod 5 eur for everything which I think is very affordable. All in all, the place is very cozy and pleasant. They have a large choice of teas, many cakes/pies, and even some war dishes which I haven’t checked though. The interior is nice, as well as the service.

Very good place, calm, and the food is amazing. However, portion-price wise, it is not very good. I ordered pasta with shrimp and spinach, and literally there were three shrimps and a small amount of pasta.
Khalid D — Google review
Very small place, counter service at the bar, unreasonable prices, meager menu. From the main dishes, there are draniki (potato pancakes), which are not really a main course but more of a breakfast or appetizer, and two actual mains: chicken schnitzel for €17 and salmon for €19. The chicken schnitzel was decent homemade-style food, but it’s definitely not worth €17. A mug of tea costs €3.

Narva Muuseum is a revered art gallery located in the restored Narva Castle and fortress, surrounded by parklike surroundings. The castle stands on the Narva River, dividing Estonia and Russia. It houses an extensive collection of artifacts showcasing the history of Narva and the castle itself. Visitors can enjoy beautiful views from the top of the castle, with an elevator reaching up to the 3rd floor out of 7. The museum also offers an audio guide and a souvenir coin exchange.
Dare I say this is the most popular and obvious choice of a touristic attraction in the city centre of Narva. The castle itself is impressive, and the exhibitions inside the castle (as the Narva Museum) showcase the history of Narva. I feel nostalgic and upset about how beautiful Narva once was when I looked their displays of old Narva before the WWII. Recollections of the history may vary, but Narva has completely changed ever since. The top of the castle provides a beautiful panoramic view of the Narva river and the surroundings (albeit through small windows as it’s enclosed).

Narva Castle is a beautiful and well preserved historical site that offers a great experience for visitors. The castle itself is impressive, with rich history and stunning architecture. One of the highlights is the Silver Café, which adds a modern and cozy touch to the medieval atmosphere perfect for a relaxing break. The surrounding area is also lovely for a walk, with scenic views of the Narva River and the Russian border just across. It’s easy to get there by car, and parking is conveniently located nearby, making the visit smooth and stress free. Overall, it’s a great place to explore, unwind, and soak in some history. A stunning and “powerful” view of the Russian border and fortress on the other side of the river. A beautiful castle which went an extensive and beautiful renovation in recent years. Many parts are accessible. A must visit in this hidden gem!

The Narva Museum easily earns a 5-star rating for its sheer historical significance and imposing presence. Set within the massive Hermann Castle, it offers not only a deep dive into centuries of regional history but also breathtaking views across the river to Russia. The exhibitions are well-curated, balancing medieval artifacts with thoughtful presentations on Narva’s complex past. However, it’s worth noting that the experience involves a lot of stairs — winding stone steps, tower climbs, and multiple levels — so comfortable shoes and a bit of stamina are a must.

Cluster of churches around a 19th-century convent, housing an ancient icon of the Mother of God.
Absolutely fantastic! This monastery is well looked after and has the most beautiful architecture! I would advise anyone to visit it, great experience!!!

Lake Peipus has a small beach here that’s perfect for taking picturesque photos.

The Convent buildings in the walled community are absolutely stunning. It is such a contemplative experience to walk in the grounds. Stop by the small shop and by some of the nuns honey. Support the community, especially since the entrance to the convent is free.!
Jannelle S — Google review
Beautiful and peaceful place. You can visit freely, no tickets required, but since its an active monastery, one must remember to be respectful and not disturb the nuns living there.
Siim E — Google review
Wow, beautiful place and probably must-see destination when visiting the eastern part of Estonia. Prepare yourself to be amazed by the self-sufficient Russian Orthodox community. Please be respectful of their faith and traditions.

Very quite and well maintianed monestary and surrounding.

Biblical Public loo is dangerously overpowering and rank. It took two days to get the smell out of my clothes and nostrils. In severe need of complete modernisation before the devil itself emerges from the appalling hole in the ground. No joke. Western expectations of the healing waters probably include pure, sparkling, mineral water mystically lit with blue, white and UV LEDs; perhaps a faint whiff of sulphur, reassuring us of the volcanic depths from which this pure, natural water has emerged, accessed through beautifully white tiled and stainless steel changing rooms, gently ushered by glowing, hovering nuns, also in white.... Reality. Stagnant 'stream' with no flow. Large, dark, garden shed covers concrete ramp to small pool in muddy hole. Throughput is human, not water. 5,000 dunked bodies in one small pool gave us mild ear infections and healed, well, nothing. Like the public loos, this facility would benefit from considerable investment. The monastery, churches, and liturgies, however, are stunning.

The story of this spiritual sites dates back to the 16th century but the Orthodox cathedral was built much more recently at the beginning of the 20th century. There are 6 other churches inside the wall dedicated to their own saint. You can have a stroll in the park and get in the cathedral but you must be quiet at all times, there are over 100 nuns on the site. You can buy their honey (it s delicious) and help preserve the site.

Astri Center is a bustling shopping hub with a variety of shops offering clothing, books, souvenirs, food, toys, jewelry, and electronics. Visitors can enjoy the Apollo Cinema with three screens and a 6D planetarium. The Bombey bowling alley provides entertainment with air hockey and other games. Additionally, there's an engaging scavenger hunt called AS-3 for shoppers to partake in. Food enthusiasts will appreciate the diverse culinary experiences available at Astri Center's numerous dining options.
Large and modern shopping center. There is a free parking on the ground floor for the entire duration of the center opening hours. The location is also good, as it's right on the main Tallinn - St. Petersburg road. There is a large selection of places to eat at and shops to visit. Some cool attractions are also there, for kids to enjoy - check the last floor.

Most Amazing Mall I’ve ever been 1000% sure of that me and my brother always buy something from NewYorker in Astri because we HAVE to buy something beautiful

Astri Center is indeed a gem for those seeking not just products but an elevated shopping experience coupled with genuine hospitality.

Compared to large shopping centers in Tallinn, this one provides more relaxing and "crowd-less" experience! It not so large as those in the capital, but provides pretty much all necessary services and goods. One can find a place to eat, to do some clothing and shoes shopping, have a haircut, see a movie etc.
Jevgeni S — Google review
Has all you'd expect from a mall and more - cheap food, normal food, fancy food, fun activities and more. Great place to stop with a tour group because everyone can find something to eat, no matter their diets.
Talis P — Google review
Astri Centre has lots of shops selling clothes, books, souvenirs, food, toys, jewellery, electronics and more. I particularly liked Kalev shop where you can buy Estonian chocolate. The lady there was so nice to make us discount and give lovely bag - great experience! We also then enjoyed bowling. The lady and man there were very polite, friendly and knowledgeable, and put us at ease. We enjoyed playing bowling there, and then went to Astri buffer. There, we took tea/coffee with cakes/pancake. It was nice food overall to get extra calories for billiards. The price for billiard was great, by the way, so we played until we got tired. Actually, we could have eaten something nearby, but we did not realise that (the cafe area was without light). I liked also to see places for kids to play. Overall, the place seems to have everything. I wish I had time to explore it and maybe go to their cinema.

Not very tourist-friendly place, unless you speak Russian. Shop assistants and cashiers are greeting you in Russian. It makes me feel like I went to Russia. Toilet was free, as usually in Estonia, but rather filthy.

Visitor center
The Narva Tourist Information Centre is a must-visit spot for anyone exploring this charming city. The staff here are exceptionally friendly and eager to assist, ensuring that visitors make the most of their time in Narva. They provide valuable insights into local museums and restaurants, making it easy to navigate the area. One visitor even had a memorable experience when they lost their phone; the team went above and beyond to help locate it, showcasing their dedication to customer service.
The staff at this center a) were incredibly kind and helpful and b) saved my friend from being absolutely chewed out for losing his phone. I brought a group of Americans through here, and the staff was super helpful with finding museums and restaurants for the group. Later in the day, my friend lost his phone and we stopped back here in a frenzy for help finding the police station. The woman at the front desk was incredibly calm and helped give us directions to the police station to file a report; another staff member popped out from the back room and had *found the phone on the street* and returned it to my friend. Incredibly kind and knowledgeable staff; 10/10 would recommend. Thanks again to the staff!!!
