Catherine Park is a sprawling urban park that was once the estate of a nobleman. It features lush greenery, ponds, and walking paths. The park reflects the preferences of multiple generations of Romanovs, blending elaborate formal gardens with a picturesque landscaped park adorned with charming follies. Visitors can explore various attractions within the park for an admission fee, including the Grotto, Maids of Honour Garden, and Hanging Garden.
In keeping with all the opulence the Catherine Park is amazing again I am glad I did not have to fit the bill over the years. But a number of splendid features and it takes a long time to walk around. It took us a few hours to cover all the sites and take in the atmosphere.

Amazing park, need at least two hours to walk around!

Catherine Palace, it is a park in Tsarskaya Village, Russia, located 25 km southeast of St. Petersburg. Catherine Park gets its name from Catherine Palace, and the park is divided into two parts: the Garden and the English Garden. When you come to St. Petersburg, you should take a stroll and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the area
C J — Google review
The park itself is nice, but the palace is super underwhelming inaccessible. You have to buy ticket for each small section of the palace, and it’s quite pricey as well. In addition, there is absolute no English translation, no English audio or tour guide, and the staff does not speak any English at all as well.

There are a lot of beautiful places around the world where you will feel happy and relaxed yourself. And Catherine Park is definitely one of those places. I had so warm walk with my soulmate in the amazing place with incredible views just everywhere you turn your head. The perennial trees, ponds, beautiful buildings with a long history. So precious moments of life.🤍
Farida S — Google review
My family's favorite park grounds. We walk the grounds at least once a year. There are lots of fun paths for kids to explore. If you bring nuts you can also sometimes feed squirrels or chickadees. Don't forget to walk behind the palace to the left and explore some lovely gardens with statues there.
Aaron B — Google review
Amazing gardens. There are several pavilion to visit and they all have wildly different styles, which makes it fun. Some are available to visit with a ticket (like the amazing Cold Baths, where the Agathe Rooms are located) and some can be visited for free (like the Chinese style pavilion and the Italian Style pavilion with authentic roman mosaics from the 2nd century) Just strolling around is nice, and they are more chilled than Petergof, with lots of locals enjoying the scene.

A dream of a spacious garden. The beautiful Baroque palaces are surrounded by fantastic French and English gardens. There are also various very interesting outbuildings. You have to search in Europe for a long time to find comparable.

Catherine Palace is an 18th-century Baroque palace located in Tsarskoye Selo, where the Russian royal family spent their summers. It was originally a small cozy palace built by Catherine I for warm summer months. Later, Elizabeth ordered the construction of another palace known for its parties and dances. Designed by Johann-Friedrich and renovated by architects like Bartolomeo Rastrelli and Charles Cameron, the palace reflects Russian monarchy's grandeur.
An 18th Century Palace build somewhat away from the main city. It was being used as a summer retrieve palace for the Royal family. The palace has huge beautiful gardens surrounding the palace. Palace itself is built in light blue and white color. The palace building is quite wide giving a very impressive grand look. We had bought the tickets online hence we did not have to wait in line for tickets. It is a must to get a guide to visit the palace. Once inside the palace, it is so grand that you get mesmerized. Russian government has spent many years to renovate it completely. All floors, furniture, roof paintings and the elaborate gold decorations on the walls have been completely re-done to perfection. The amber room, re-done completely, is worth visiting. This is a not to miss attraction.

A beautiful blue white palace, the details are so stunning and well maintained. There are some areas reserved for special ticket. It is good that public transport can reach there, using Yandex app will give you the directions.
Gunruthai C — Google review
The entrance to Catherine Park + Palace entrance was surprisingly expensive at 2,500 rubles per person, with no discounted rates for seniors or teenagers. For a family of four, the total came to 10,000 rubles; significantly higher than the 1,000 to 1,500 rubles per person stated on various online sources. We were quite shocked by the difference, but having traveled an hour from the city center, we decided to proceed with the purchase to make the most of our visit. Catherine Park is an absolutely beautiful place to visit vast, serene, & filled with breathtaking scenery. The park grounds are incredibly wide, offering plenty of space to wander, relax, and enjoy the fresh air. You can easily spend 2 to 3 hours strolling through its gardens, lakes, and open spaces without feeling rushed. However, when it comes to food & coffee, the options inside are very limited. There are no luxurious cafés or high quality restaurants on site, & it’s difficult to find anything kosher or Muslim friendly. I would recommend bringing your own snacks or eating before you come. When you buy your ticket (it took us around 45 mns to buy the tickets on site) you’ll be assigned a time slot to enter Catherine Palace itself usually about two hours after your purchase. Even though we were lost in communication and didn’t understand much (we used sign language and translation from our side, we then thought is actually a good system, as it gives you enough time to explore the park & surrounding areas before your tour begins; but in our case we had another place scheduled to go after the palace, which put us on an edge where we had to shift things from our schedule in order to actually visit the palace itself. A key tip: there are two types of entry slots and two separate palace entrances. Make sure you know which entrance your ticket corresponds to, otherwise you might wait in the wrong line only to be redirected. The palace tour itself is relatively short,,, around 30–45 minutes & visitors are only shown part of the building, not the entire interior. So expect to spend much more of your day outdoors than indoors. All in all, Catherine Park is stunning & well worth a visit, especially if you enjoy beautiful landscapes and leisurely walks. Just plan ahead for food & be mindful of your palace entry details to make the most of your experience.

Beautiful place worth to visit. We did wait a bit to buy tickets and enter. The waiting time is ok but there was a lot of people and we had to stand in the sun. I do recommend to buy tickets in advance in order to avoid that. Palace is beutiful inside and out. All the lawns are neat and perfectly maintained. Tour of the palace with a guide has time and you need to apply for specific tour. There is a lot of history behind this place and tour was interesting and lot of information. Definitely worth to visit.

Amazing palace, gem of Russia! 2500 rub ticket for foreigners ( even foreign taxpayer in Russia like me) is very pricy, but worth paying as it took long decades to repair the palace damaged by German army during WW2. Their repairmen efforts must be rewarded. Ambar room is excellent! Need at least two hours to walk around the park.

This is just a mind blowing experience with us, I think we should spend 2 days here to explore the full palace. Our guide explained each n every detail of the palace and park A must visit place if you’re in saint Petersburg plan a trip to Pushkin.

We were on a cruise thru the Baltic Sea and one of the main stops was in St Petersburg. We had most of the day and had a great all day tour organized by the cruise ship. The two highlights of the day were visiting The Hermitage and Catherine Palace. The Palace, located in Pushkin, is a beautiful building outside and inside. Just unbelievably beautiful and oozing wealth. We got tickets in advance thru the cruise group. Very crowded. A must see on any visit to St Petersburg and Pushkin.

Park
Pavlovsk Museum is a late 18th to early 19th-century ensemble of palaces and parks located near St. Petersburg. The neoclassical palace, though not grand in size, boasts elegant interiors and the park covers around 600 hectares with English-style landscaping, charming follies, dense woodland, and rolling vistas. While closed on Mondays, the museum's beautiful garden is worth visiting.
A huge and very green park. Beautiful landscapes. I was in this park not very long, unfortunately, because there was not enough time. You can walk all day in this park!

Unfortunately it's closed on Mondays, so I couldn't get into the museum but the great garden was wonderful to visit as well. It's a little bit far away from the center of St. Petersburg, so I suggest to go there other day than Monday.

Nestled along the picturesque riverbank, the Apollo Colonnade stands as a stunning example of late 18th-century park architecture. Constructed in 1783 by Charles Cameron, this elegant structure features a double ring of Doric columns topped with an architrave, exuding an air of classical antiquity. Although it was struck by lightning in 1817 and remains in a state of charming ruin, its powerful limestone forms continue to captivate visitors.
(Translated by Google) I love Pavlovsky Park in autumn. It is not as popular among tourists as Pushkinsky and Petrodvortsovy, but it is amazingly beautiful with its primeval beauty. I really want his unique ensemble to receive grants for restoration! The Colonnade of Apollo was once a Water Cascade. I hope that I will live to see its beauty restored. (Translated by Google) The Colonnade of Apollo is one of the masterpieces of park architecture of the late 18th century. Built by Charles Cameron in 1782 on the meadow of the upper plateau of the left bank of the river. Slavs. The colonnade is designed in the form of a double ring of Doric order columns covered with an architrave. The powerful forms of architecture and the gray color of the limestone from which the structure is made give it the character of true antiquity. The majestic, open colonnade temple, full of light and air, is dedicated to Apollo, the unique patron of Pavlovsk. The original image of the Colonnade can be seen in the painting of the porcelain table in the Boudoir of Maria Feodorovna. While traveling abroad, the owner of Pavlovsk wrote to the manager K.I. Kuchelbecker from Italy in 1782: “The Colonnade and Temple in Pavlovsk are dearer to me than all the beauties of Italy.” In 1800, at the request of the Empress, the Apollo Colonnade was moved to the bank of the Slavyanka opposite the palace. According to the design of D. Quarenghi, a cascade was built from the Colonnade to the Slavyanka, which descended along stone ledges to the river and, before flowing into it, foamed violently under a humpbacked stone bridge. In accordance with ancient myth, the Colonnade was supposed to personify Mount Parnassus, where Apollo and the muses lived, and the cascade - the Castalian Key - was a source of inspiration. Such images of the Colonnade can be seen in the painting by A. Martynov (Crimson Cabinet), as well as in watercolors and engravings of the early 19th century by S. Shchedrin, D. Quarenghi, I. Chessky, I. Ukhtomsky. However, in 1817, during a severe thunderstorm, the base of the Colonnade above the cascade was washed away, and several columns and part of the entablature collapsed. It was decided not to touch the collapsed parts of the Colonnade, since nature itself, as it were, created the appearance of a picturesque ruin, which gave this landscape a romantic character.

The Alexander Park, established in the 1770s and expanded by Emperor Alexander in the early 19th century, offers a serene natural setting for various recreational activities. Unlike the Catherine Park, it is overgrown with pine trees and conifers, creating a mysterious atmosphere linked to the last Tsar. The park features water bodies weaving through wild forest-like landscapes and even boasts Pushkin's famous natural spring.
Very clean and immense. I was there at the end of October. The trees are no longer leafy, there are few and for an autumn photo, you don't have the desired effect. I think it's my fault, but it'll certainly be better in winter. On the other hand, it's really beautiful.

(Translated by Google) The Cameron Gallery is a true masterpiece of architectural art; this two-story building is part of the ensemble of the Agate Pavilion, the Cold Baths, the Ramp and the Hanging Garden. The Englishman Cameron, who arrived in Russia in 1779, began to implement Catherine II’s plan to create a collective image from Greek and Roman masterpieces of architecture. The gallery received its name in 1885, when art historian and bibliographer Petrov, in one of his articles in the magazine “Architect”, called this outstanding building “Cameron Gallery”. (Translated by Google) Catherine the Great built herself a “nest” not for holidays, but for solitude, leisurely walks and philosophical conversations. To translate her plans into stone, Catherine “supplied” from Italy the Scottish architect Charles Cameron, who was in love with Ancient Rome. He came to Russia, got married and lived here until his death. The Scotsman had an unbearable character for the crowned customers: he really didn’t like it when they interfere in the process. Catherine endured it because their tastes coincided. The famous Cameron Gallery, decorated with busts of ancient philosophers, is the Empress’s favorite architectural work. Construction has just begun, and she is already writing to Voltaire: “I have taken possession of Master Cameron, who is imbued with the study of the ancients... He and I are making a garden with terraces here in Tsarskoe Selo, with baths below and a gallery above. It will be lovely!” And sure enough, it turned out to be a beauty: a light, floating upper part of the building with a long colonnade that rests on a powerful, deliberately rough base made of Pudost stone. What kind of stone is this, you ask? This is calcareous tuff, which was mined near the Sarskoye village, near the village of Pudost. Many palaces and temples in St. Petersburg are lined with this tuff, the columns of the Kazan Cathedral, for example. Cameron built “cold baths” on the ground floor of the building. Above them is actually a gallery. It is filled with light and is completely different from the main palace, but without it it would look heavy and archaic, but together they highlight each other favorably. I was amazed by the busts on the terrace of the gallery, at first I thought that they were modern: they look so original and in tune with our time - light, completely surreal, barely touching the pedestal! But no, these are real works by masters of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, cast in bronze in 1780–1790. All survived and are standing where Cameron placed them. There is a marvelous flower garden all around, views of indescribable beauty... there would be, if not for the huge mass of Chinese groups that filled everything. Also, a kind of flower garden).

The Mosque & Turkish Bath Pavilion is a stunning architectural gem that draws inspiration from the grandeur of Catherine Palace, albeit on a smaller and more intimate scale. Nestled on a picturesque cape overlooking a serene lake, this oriental-style stone structure was constructed between 1850 and 1852. Although it was designed to serve as a bathhouse, it has never been used for its original purpose due to the lack of heating. Instead, it stands as an exquisite decorative feature within the park's landscape.
Architectural & Interior design so amazing. But now It's not use as a mosque. Now it’s just a Museum. No arrangement for performing salah. Also needed Additional entry fee.

(Translated by Google) In 1850-1852, by order of Emperor Nicholas I, on a small cape in the southwestern part of the Big Pond, construction of a new structure was carried out - the Turkish Bath. The author of the project, conceived as a unique monument to the Russian-Turkish war of 1828-1829, was the architect I. Monighetti. According to the time of its creation, the Turkish Bath is the last of the pavilions to appear on the territory of the Catherine Park. According to the architect's plan, the composition of the Turkish Bath reproduces the mosque. The dome is decorated with relief ornaments, and the high minaret, topped with a spire with a crescent, gives the building a special picturesqueness. The planes of the walls are divided by profiled rods. The interior is designed in a "Moorish" style. In the interior design, white marble details of the interior decoration of the bath of the Turkish Sultana were used, exported during the Russian-Turkish war of 1828-1829 from Rumelia (the European part of the possessions of the Ottoman Empire with its center in Sofia).

The Monument to Paul I, located in Gatchina and Pavlovsk, pays tribute to the controversial Russian Emperor. The sculpture depicts Paul in ceremonial attire and a cocked hat, leaning on a cane, exuding grandeur and representativeness. The monument captures the emperor's inconsistency of nature through his sovereign pose and uncertain facial expression. Despite being vilified after his murder, the monument invites visitors to contemplate the impact of his plans and deeds on the surrounding palace and park.

Situated on the banks of the Great Pond in Catherine Park, the Grotto Pavilion serves as an exhibition venue. Resonating with the essence of its surroundings, this pavilion entices families to explore its rich historical significance and offers water-based recreational activities during the summer season. This regal summer residence, crafted in a striking blue shade that harmonizes with its verdant environment, has been meticulously restored to embody the Russian Baroque architectural style, evoking a serene and tranquil ambiance.
Pavillion Grotto was built in the garden of the Big Palace for Empress Elisabeth I of All Russia (1723-1761) in 1749-1779 by Russian Architect of Italian origin Bartolomeo Francesco Rastrelli (1700-1771). Each regular park ensemble of the 18th century was required to have the Hermitage, Grotto and artificial ruins pavilions. The Tsarskoe Selo Grotto was designed and began to be built in 1755-1756 by B. F. Rastrelli. The project was approved in August 1749, but construction and decoration took until 1782. In 1771, A. Rinaldi reworked the design of the interior decoration (initially it was planned to decorate the walls with tuff and shells, which was supposed to use 210 thousand large sea shells and 17½ pounds of small ones; the decor of the walls according to Rinaldi’s drawings has been preserved to this day), as construction progressed, the pavilion changed its name.

Like a mysterious sea cave, the sculptural decoration of the Grotto is dedicated to the glorification of the water element, and the sea god Neptune. Elizaveta Petrovna ordered the interiors of the pavilion to be decorated with shells, and in the 1770s, at the behest of Catherine II, the architect Antonio Rinaldi re-stuccoed the interior of the pavilion. Catherine II turned the Grotto into her office, where she came in the morning to sort out diplomatic mail and drink coffee. At this time, the pavilion began to be called the “morning hall.” By 10:00 in the morning, upon a special signal, the empress’s close associates gathered here for a common breakfast, and on warm summer evenings, tables were set here for dinner. This is a normal place for dinner, nature around, a pond, birds, flowers. I come back after 8 years. The exterior and the park are really amazing, a must see. About the interior tour, re her living zone, which I did for the first time, well, I am not sure is something to be seen... First of all you will discover that almost everything was bombed or robbed during second world war, so you are looking to a replica, which is taking away all the magic from it since......since let us be honest, interiors are unreal ugly. Too much of everthing without real balance and well thought details. And when you see it as a replica, you start to think 💬 well why to remake such a kitsch interior and not even to the end (not all the rooms have been restored until the end ). Also, the guide we had was so boring, lots of details repeating over and over... In general, the visit to the interior I won't recommend it, you won't loose anything. The park yes, that is a piece of art to be seen.

A park that my family loves to walk during the summer. Our trip out this weekend was a bit early in the season and the weather was a bit chilly. During the summer that gardens are full or different kinds of flowers. There are even parts of the park where a person can go and lay out in the grass, a true luxury in Russia. Be sure and bring some nuts as there are many hungry squirrels who will gladly come get them out of your hand. This is a lot of fun for kids.

(Translated by Google) It seemed to us that Pavlovsk, after visiting the palace complex, would no longer be able to surprise us, but no) Walking a little further, you can see the river and if you walk along it, you will see a wonderful view of the BIP castle) Once upon a time this place served Pavel 1. Marienthal, informally also Bibs or Bip - a two-story castle (pentagonal in plan) with two towers (oval in plan) and a courtyard at the fork the Slavyanka and Tyzva rivers in the southern part of Pavlovsk. Around, according to all the rules of the bastion system, earthen fortifications (bastions, ravelins, lunettes, flushes) were built. It is considered an architectural whim of Paul I. It was destroyed during the 2nd World War, but has now been restored and presented to our attention as a hotel and restaurant) A spacious, well-groomed green lawn with turkeys, goats, and chickens freely roaming around the territory) This place is suitable for Weddings, Holidays , Corporate events, etc.) there is parking and security.

The Pavilion "Temple of Friendship" is a charming monument located in a large park with a magnificent landscape. Commissioned by Empress Maria, it symbolizes the friendship between her and Catherine the Great. The park also features other interesting pavilions and memorials, such as Pavel's Mausoleum and the Monument to Parents. The hilly terrain and abundance of water contribute to the park's beauty, with cascades, rocky shoals, and wide pools creating a picturesque setting.
Beautiful!!!
Ekaterina ( — Google review
(Translated by Google) The most beautiful place. From the outside it looks like a painting. The pavilion was built in the form of a rotunda by the architect Charles Cameron in 1780-1782. Initially, the Temple contained a large marble statue of Catherine II, but in 1791 it was presented to Count I.G. Chernyshev, and in 1792 an alabaster figure of the Empress in the image of Ceres was installed here. The Temple of Friendship was supposed to be used for breakfast and dinner in the park, so on the opposite bank of the river a kitchen was built in the form of a rural house (dismantled at the beginning of the 19th century).

(Translated by Google) It’s just 10 out of 10 everything in this park is wonderful))) in other reviews some fools write that they don’t understand why they charge 100 rubles for entry))) that’s how someone who hasn’t really walked in the park can simply argue Everything is clean, neat and well maintained I’m sure if the state allocated more funds it would be even better Because a lot of things require restoration and this is our cultural heritage It is obvious that the park staff cares and treats each bridge and monument with love.
