It is one of the most popular fine dining restaurants in Helsinki. I visited on a Friday for dinner, the place was almost full. So, I strongly recommend those who plan to visit shall make a reservation in advance. The high standard yet friendly service topped in my ratings. The atmosphere was also great, The pianist played soft songs that blended well with the ambiance. And, most importantly, the sound level was just right. The food tasted great with enhancing, artistic, yet practical presentation. The price point in Savoy is extremely friendly for a Michelin star rated fine dining restaurant. And as the price index here in the Nordic is high, this makes the price here even higher value for money.

One of Earth’s finest restaurants. The room, the staff and of course the dishes are all of the most exceptional levels. Miles Davis soundtrack was perfect for our lunch of fish dishes and the warmth of the folks taking care of us was sincere.

We had reservations on March 13th while on our 20th wedding anniversary European trip and we are still thinking about this experience! This was absolutely amazing and everything was delicious. We opted for the vegan tasting menu and the chef accommodated my preference for no mushrooms. I circled my favorites in the photos but every single creation exceeded my expectations. The tomato, oregano and red currant pie was the best thing I have ever eaten in my life! Wow! We have never gone to a place like this before. It was interesting to watch the chefs cook, the servers explained each of the dishes and the chef greeted us on our way out. Everyone was very professional. The attention to detail was next level. Highly recommend this restaurant. If we ever return to Helsinki, we will definitely go back. Heck, it’s worth the return specifically to go here. Absolutely worth all the accolades and more! Had my birthday dinner here tonight and was incredibly impressed and overjoyed at every single course. The staff are top notch professionals with loads of personality. I opted for the non-alcoholic pairing with the vegetarian menu (slightly altered from vegan version) and felt they all were deliciously spot on for complementing the course. Very intimate, timed seating makes for a wonderfully personal experience.

Great restaurant with fantastic, attentive service. Food was for the most part amazing as well. Some dishes in particular were very memorable (like the scallop and the king crab with rose hip), while some dishes were good but not amazing (like the duck fat doughnut). Wine pairings were mixed. Some was absolutely amazing (like the Riesling and the sweet wine), while some I didn’t really understand, but that could be my fault as well as I’m not really a wine connoisseur. Overall a great experience though. Highly recommended.

Dining at Restaurant Grön was an unforgettable culinary experience that perfectly captured the spirit of spring. Every dish was thoughtful, vibrant, and beautifully balanced, but what truly elevated the evening was the juice pairing. Each drink complemented the food in surprising and delightful ways. A standout was the pea based green juice: slightly funky on the nose, but rich, velvety, and deeply satisfying. The fish soup was phenomenal, warm, comforting, and layered with flavor, dotted with tender potatoes. Another highlight was the king crab chawanmushi, a playful and luxurious blend of textures that made each bite a mini celebration. A word of caution: the bread is dangerously good. Served with whipped butter, it was soft, warm, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious… and also powerful enough to induce a full-blown food coma. We had to call in backup in the form of their freshly ground coffee, which by the way, was fantastic. Desserts were equally impressive. The strawberries with cream and sorrel struck a perfect balance between sweet and tart, while the fresh flowers from the Grön garden were a beautiful and fragrant touch. Service was impeccable, warm, professional, and full of thoughtful details, including a hidden drawer that charmingly revealed our utensils. Fantastic Summer menu with each and every plate being absolutely delicious. My favourites were all starters and mind blowingly fantastic fish soup. We had mixed pairing with 3 wines and 3 non-alcoholic drinks. Highly recommended. And I wonder, why only 1 star ⭐️ ⭐️

We booked here for an anniversary celebration and were not disappointed. The food, wine matching and service were all impeccable as you’d expect. I particularly enjoyed the summer veg and fish soup inspired starters. They have one sitting at 8pm and they bring each couple inside in turn, to a chorus of “hei” which makes it feel friendly and welcoming.

A brilliant Finnish restaurant. The food was excellent and tasty. Although the food was on the more pricy side, the quality and rarer meat (such as reindeer and bear) were worth the money. The service was friendly and the atmosphere cosy. Traditional older Finnish popular songs were a nice touch. I would recommend the place for tourists that want good quality Finnish dishes, as well as local folk for a nice restaurant experience.

Magical dining experience, complete with delicious Finnish cuisine. Pricey, sure, but the whole was far more than the sum of its parts. The Supreme Savotta sampler was the best appetizer I have ordered in years, with the reindeer steak and blueberry tarts rounding out the best meal I've eaten in recent memory. Bravo! Absolutely incredible dinner! I'm vegan and truly enjoyed the artichoke soup and cabbage bean rolls with mashed potatoes and lingon berry jam, truly truly delicious. There's a couple more appetizers that can be made vegan on request and a dessert. Staff was absolutely lovely too, and we got an incredible view of the plaza while we dinned 😍

We loved the vibe and service at this restaurant. I ordered the rainbow trout which was cooked to perfection but I would have preferred more of the roasted vegetables as it wasn’t very filling. My partner really enjoyed the moose burger and especially raved about the lingonberry ketchup. For dessert my partner had the warm blueberry tart and I tried the Finnish cheeses. They were both nice but the portion sizes were small for the price. This was quite an expensive meal for the amount we ordered but still a pleasant experience.

Great food. Traditional Finnish cuisine. Had the reindeer and fish. Fast delivery and great service despite packed reastaurant. A little steep in price but well worth it. Table reservation needed! Way too popular and crowded to get a table without reservation. Reserve minimum 2 days ahead to be sure, 3 days ahead for weekends.

My mother is from Finland and I've been 10 times. If you are looking to cap your trip off with a real taste of Finland with an atmosphere that is real Finish, this is the place. Nice looking place, staff that are dressed traditionally and the food is excellent as authentic as it could be.

Good food & great service! The restaurant gives a cozy, family atmostphere. However the space is a bit small, and so many tables around. I’m a bit overwhelmed when sitting too close to other people. 😅

We went as a group of six people. It was a significant birthday for one of us, and we wanted to have a meal out together somewhere nice to celebrate. The whole experience was wonderful. We had the five course meal choice with a different wine for each dish, as suggested by the restaurant. The choice of wine was explained every time, details about where it was produced and what type of grapes were used to give the specific taste of the wine. I definitely learnt a lot.. And the food was truly wonderful, check out the photos on this review page. I would say it was the best restaurant experience I have had in the last twenty years..

We enjoyed the food. Nice salmon, tender reindeer meat, good cheeses, comforting dessert. Was a bit confusing who should have been taking care of us, because we were served by at least 5 different employees. Also the space is a bit cluttered with tables and chairs. Some dishes took longer to arrive compared to other tables and considering we had reservations for the same time. Overall worth a visit if you look for good flavors.

Quality food and wine: beef tartar, Iberico pork, cheese. The only thing letting it down is a service, which was very slow considering just a 4-course meal. The tables are close to each other, but it doesn't feel crammed.

I was recommended this place by the receptionist at my hotel, and it was truly worth recommending further. When I walked in, I just said “surprise me” without knowing anything about what they had on the menu or what they were known for. First, I got both sourdough bread and focaccia with garlic butter, along with some Caster Liebart Cuvée Cécile Champagne. All of this was really good. The first course was beef tartare with thyme mayo, pickled chanterelles, and sourdough crackers and this has to be the best beef tartare I’ve ever eaten! It was served with Bottega Vinai Pinot Nero 2019, which paired fantastically with the dish. The second course was their Jerusalem artichoke risotto with Finnish apple and wow, the flavors in this risotto were truly amazing. Definitely worth trying when you visit this place. It was served with Domaine Gresser GC Wiebelsberg 2003, again a perfect choice for this meal. For the third course, they served pan-fried trout with potato purée and beurre blanc. The fish was excellent, with a crispy skin and a great balance of flavors. I never thought I’d eat trout in a restaurant that was better than the ones I catch and cook myself, but this was definitely better! This dish was served with Domaine Jean Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru Côte de Léchet 2022 and once again, a great choice by the sommelier. For the cheese course before dessert, I was served Ossau-Iraty and Fromager d’Affinois with homemade flatbread and some jam. At first, when combined, I didn’t notice that the flatbread had a hint of licorice flavor. But when I tasted it on its own, I did and although I don’t normally like licorice, this combination of flavors blended together beautifully. It was served with Canfine Castelvecchio Barolo 2019, which, like everything else, was excellent. Finally, for dessert, I had chocolate praliné mousse and blackcurrant leaf ice cream and this has to be the best mousse I’ve ever had. It was served with Arnaud Lambert Crémant de Loire, a really nice way to end this wonderful meal. To finish it all off, they served me a Negroni, which was also amazing. Thank you for the excellent service and delicious food! This was truly a fantastic dining experience. I would recommend everyone in Helsinki to visit this restaurant, such a cozy atmosphere and a super friendly staff!

I had the 4-course meal. The potato waffle was just okay, the truffle pasta was too lemony, and the crème brûlée was underwhelming—I’ve had better. The fish lacked flavor, and the fish sauce was too strong. Service was slow, but the wine selection was great, which was a highlight. Coming from NYC, the flavors felt a bit boring for my taste.

High quality, delicious food. Cozy atmosphere and nice interior design. The staff is adorable and very service minded. However, 5 courses of small dishes took 4 hours. Since we did not do a wine/beverage package, as we do not drink alcohol, it felt very very slow.

Had a lunch here today, we ordered Salmon soup, beefsteak and my favourite herring with cream brûlée and ice cream with coffee for dessert. Trust your instincts when it comes to your choice, this is absolutely 💯 recommended place to go! (I didn't get a chance to take a photos coz I forgot my phone in the hotel where we stayed).

What a lovely visit in one of the classic restaurant in Helsinki. Artist restaurant with it's own special atmosphere didn't betray this time either. Excellent service, delicious food and drinks, what can I say? 10 points!

Dinner was quite nice, the staff was friendly and food was good. I got the Artist’s menu with meat, the soup was a little bit spicy but good, the main course was tasteful and the creme brule was nice but a tad bit too sweet. However the atmosphere was nice and our server turned out to be Estonian as well so that was a lovely surprise!

Had the pleasure of being at the chef's table. Service was great, everybody really friendly, attentive and patient. We found the food amazing, our favourite was the tartare with bone marrow, neck to neck with some great desserts. We had a great time, will definitely come back when we are able to.

I had the Chef’s Choice 4-course menu and overall it was a truly enjoyable dining experience. The courses were well thought out, beautifully presented and fresh, high-quality ingredients. Each dish had a nice balance of flavors and textures, and it was clear that a lot of care went into both the preparation and the concept of the menu. The service was attentive but relaxed, which made the evening feel comfortable even though I was alone. If I had to point out one area for improvement, it would be the dessert. It wasn’t quite on the same level as the other courses for me. Part of that might just come down to personal taste, since I’m not a fan of blueberries. Still, I would have preferred something that matched the creativity of the earlier courses.

I had the most fantastic experience I have ever had. We were there with a big group of 9 people. The food was stunning and blew me away with explosions of different tastes in my mouth. I had no idea about the restaurant, but the amazing server explained their zero-waste policy and how they find innovative ways to reuse broken or usually thrown-away things. Felt like a VIP experience, thanks to the server. They were very mindful of our personal requests and prepared beautiful and tasty alcohol-free drinks for one of the eaters. We were in a cabin, which gave a unique view to the kitchen and was more quiet than the rest of the tables. It felt relaxed and magical at the same time. I highly recommend! 🤩

What a lovely place!! I ventured into Helsinki for a wander and a meal during a 9.5hrs layover in the airport. The restaurant accommodated me with a late email reservation (and they were so responsive too). I had the 6 course set menu which was lovely. I especially liked the tartare with waffles and the pasta dish. When I explained that I found the goose slightly too salty (it was still good), they very quickly turned up with an extra ice cream that served as a palate cleanser. That ginger ice cream just exploded in my mouth. Altogether a lovely experience. Thank you Nolla.

Hands down one of the best meals I ever had. We chose the chef's table set inside the kitchen and a 5 course tasting menu. The food was masterfully adapted to our dietary requirements without a hint of a drop in quality. The waiting staff were incredible and the chef even took the time to present one of the dishes to us and have a little chat. All in all a 10/10 experience!

Top notch experience from start to Finnish! Food and service were both fantastic, great value, and we would happily return. Stand outs from the menu (which changes regularly and showcases local ingredients were: The rustic homemade baguette!, Goats cheese tart, Beef tongue (special of the day) and the Potato skin with olive oil and peanut Swiss roll dessert. This last dish was very unique and really worked well.

Excellent dinner here on my last night in Helsinki. I had a 2-course meal from their new menu. Arctic char followed by peppercorn steak. Both were delicious. The service was also faultless. I found the staff welcoming and professional, and everything very well timed. Yes, it is pricey but that’s mainly due to the wine and less so the food. I did opt for a half-glass of wine to accompany the appetiser and a full glass of red with the steak. This is refined yet unfussy food in an intimate, unpretentious atmosphere. I’ve eaten well in Helsinki but this was my best meal and overall dining experience.

Absolutely perfect dinner. Super good food and one of the best experiences overall. My husband has some food restrictions, and sometimes it becomes a little awkward when eating out, but not here! They were super accommodating and seemed to be very happy to customize dishes for him. It was the best restaurant experience for him ever. Thank you so much! Having two-time experience downstairs at Basbas Kulma, it was difficult to manage my expectation, especially I had to stay late after 00:00 to make the reservation for a newly available day on the calendar. Maybe I have missed something, but I cannot tell the concept difference between the two restaurants. Well the vibe downstairs was more lively. The food I ordered was just average this time, the grilled seabass was tasty, but the starter whitefish was too sour and the risotto too salty. I will still be a fan of Basbas:)

Aug. 12/25: 3.5 Stars, food missed the mark as it just wasn’t up to par compared to BasBas Kulma (we ate here three days ago). The scallops were unfortunately bland, the daily fish, in this case Pike was overpowered by the tomato, so with this it simply wasn’t a meal that will remembered fondly. Maybe our expectations were too high. The service was terrific!!

Went here a few weeks ago - amazing all around! Food was seasoned perfectly. And i like that some dishes leaned more fresh acidic & others more rich umami. Highlights for me was the pasta dish, the caesar salad, and the paris brest dessert. I really wanted to like the tartar more but it could’ve been served colder with some crunchier element beyond the pickled daikon. Nonetheless, all were still tasty and the wines recommended are decent and good. Service was very nice and friendly too!

Did some research on high quality restaurants, and based on all the recommendations Vinkkeli had received, decided to book a table. And true enough, the glowing reviews were on spot. High quality of service, absolutely beautiful interiors, beautiful tableware were first indicators that this was a great selection. We decided on the four course menu, which was well explained by the staff member. Everything worked, dished were absolutely excellent, paired well with recommended wines. Timing was spot-on, and we felt like the customer was on focus here. Thank you Vinkkeli, you are GREAT!

A truly pleasant experience! The dishes were full of great flavors and clearly prepared with care. I was especially impressed by how well different allergies were taken into account – we felt safe and well looked after the entire time. The service was excellent: friendly, knowledgeable, and warm from start to finish. I especially enjoyed the vegan starter and the soup – both were absolutely delicious and beautifully balanced. The main course wasn’t quite to my personal taste, but everything else more than made up for it. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back!

All around an amazing dinner. We took one of the set menus with wine pairings. We did swap out one of the desserts as my partner doesn’t like coconut at all but they provided a perfect alternative. Staff were attentive and knowledgeable. Food was spectacular and delicious. The restaurant was cozy and elegant. Recommend making a reservation but we did book the day we ate there. This was a great meal to end our visit to Helsinki. If you want a high quality meal that is not extremely expensive this is the place to go. Can be romantic, good for business or a nice meal out .

We held a private event here for 30 people. It was *fantastic*. Antti and his team put on a truly high-class experience - the food, wine pairings, and service were all exceptional. While Vinkkeli is definitely a high-end restaurant, it maintains an intimate and warm ambience. Couldn't have asked for more.

While Ravintola Palace boasts two Michelin stars, our experience fell short of expectations. The food, though packs a lot of flavour, was a little too salty for some dishes. Yes, they took the time to explain each dish, but the service felt impersonal and cold - perhaps a Finnish trait, but disappointing for a restaurant of this caliber. What truly soured the experience was watching other diners receive special treatment, complete with gift bags, while we were overlooked. This created an uncomfortable feeling of being “second-class” guests. For the amount paid, the value simply wasn’t there. While the cuisine showed skill, the overall experience left a bitter taste. For the astronomical price, one expects more than just good food - you want an exceptional, memorable evening. Unfortunately, Palace failed to deliver on that front.

Located on the 10th floor, when you exit the lift, it exposes you to a space that has a nice ambience. Staff were welcoming. For the first time, each of the 10 courses was served by a different chef and not wait staff. Very original and a nice highlight. Each dish was delicate, amazing & very tasty. I could feel the subtle infusion of the different ingrediants and how well it all balanced without overpowering each other. Staff were very professional and attentive without crowding you. Plates got cleared quickly with comfortable intervals between courses. I even got an audience with the executive chef Eero Vottonern and all the BoH staff for a long & engaging chat about his vision, objectives, direction, etc. I wasn't overly keen on some food being served on a folded napkin and small timber coasters. I think it lowered the presentation slightly. Overall a great 4hr culenary experience. Staff were able to respond so well to all my inquisitive technical questions. This is more like it👍. Worth spending the high cost to be spoilt like this.

Just unreal dining in here. Every dish was piece of art, perfection and really well thinked. I don't have the photo of the duck dish, but that was definently one of the highlights. And the view was really really nice. Everyhing was just so perfect and the staff was really really really nice and professional. And the drink recommadations were spot on. I will come back sometime again.

Not sure why Google thinks this place is a hotel when reviewing it, but rest assured that it is a great dining experience instead.

Well, we were in Finnjävel Sali. We had a 4 course menu. The menu itself was tasty, but what worries me was my allergies, miss take... In a city with so many excellent dining options, Finnjävel stands out. Every presentation on their tasting menu, in addition to being delicious, is beautiful and meticulously crafted. The staff is warm and engaging, and I appreciated the details they shared about each dish -- whether about its place in Finnish culture, or a personal story about having a more down-home version as a child. An additional endearing fact is that so much (if not nearly all) of what is in the restaurant itself has been made specifically for it, right down to the clever cutlery. A genuinely memorable experience.

So my first cordon blu / high scale meal in Finland, unsurprisingly in the Huvudstad, Helsinki. This is not to say that I have never had good food in Finland before, quite the contrary. But here we have a Michelin star restaurant. And to cut to the chase, it is a success, albeit an expensive one (which in Helsinki goes without saying - it is more expensive here than even Stockholm). The theme here is rustic revival, taking old ingredients, the freshest possible, which native Finns would have met say in more prosaic situations, like an evening meal at home, or even a school dinner (lovers of the film Ratatouille will nod!). There is a 5 or 7/8 course tasting menu, and a wine pairing too. We (my wife, and an old friend) had the 5 courses, with champagne to start (a house with a good dose of Pinot Noir), a lovely white Burgundy, and red Burgundy at the end (a glass only). It's hard to say that one course was best - it is best to say that the pace increased in quality as we got towards the end, but that increase was from good to excellent quality. The decor is simple, warm, homely. The staff, all but one of whom was female (oh my, a lot of boomer assumption there), and well done throughout. We left feeling replete and at ease, despite the bill! Recommended for a special occasion!

Unforgettable experience! We visited this place in early August, after receiving a gift card for the 8 course menu for two. The place is cozy and location is very central. The food was very special, the flavours and textures and the serving - it made our evening very memorable. Absolutely delicious portions: traditional Finnish flavours served in a modern style. The only awkward part was a bit annoying waitresses service, there were just too many of them: both in the room and in our dinner, it felt like they were coming to our table too often, this was a bit stressful 😅 Otherwise, we enjoyed our evening a lot and will gladly come back

Generally a greet experience at Salonki. I thought some dishes were more presentation than taste. Some items like the bread course should just be included in both tasting menus rather than just the 8-course one. Service was impeccable

Wow, with Helsinki rapidly becoming the foodie destination in Europe. This restaurant does not disappoint. No it's not cheap but it's not expensive either the food is adventurous, delicious and interesting, with some real surprises built in. We had the wine pairing and all of them were excellent wines and a perfect pairing. Service is superb from getting to departure. I fully expect the second Michelin star is not far away. Can't recommend it enough.

Löyly is a must-visit in Helsinki! The design and atmosphere are incredible — a striking modern building right on the waterfront, with panoramic views of the Baltic Sea. The sauna experience itself felt both authentic and welcoming, with multiple options including a traditional smoke sauna and easy access to the sea for a refreshing dip between rounds. Everything is clean, well-organized, and thoughtfully run. I especially appreciated the calm vibe: people respecting the sauna culture, alternating between heat, cool water, and relaxation on the deck. The restaurant and bar are also excellent for extending your visit with good food or a drink afterward. It’s worth booking in advance since time slots do fill quickly, but it’s absolutely one of the best ways to experience Finnish culture in Helsinki. Highly recommend!

A dream combinations of communal sauna, restaurant and bar by the beautiful waterfront. Really enjoyed the time here. However the facilities needed some good ongoing maintenance, a clear sign of current lack of good maintenance otherwise it's a great place to switch off and relax. Thanks ☺️

This is a must visit place while checking out Helsinki! The sauna is a mix of locals and some tourists. 3 different saunas and the opportunity to plunge in the Baltic was perfect. The restaurant is great for the après cause there’s literally nothing else in the immediate area other than a funky Skåne fisherman’s hunt, but I doubt they will serve up a delicious dish of torsk. I had the reindeer or was it the venison?!?… but regardless it was amazing red meat! Do it and you’ll have ikke regerts!

We had a lovely dinner in the restaurant followed by a fabulous two hour experience in the sauna. The restaurant food was lovely and it had a great cosy vibe. Highly recommend the desserts too! The saunas were both great and you could dip into the sea which was very refreshing. We both felt amazing afterwards and wish we had time to go back!

Absolutely adored my experience at both the sauna and the restaurant. The sauna staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. There was a great respect from all sauna users and enhanced the experience. The tasting menu and paired wines were brilliant. The waiting staff were excellent and went above and beyond for us when we advised them it would be our last meal before an early flight the next day. We were loaded with extra bread, excellent for mopping up delicious sauces throughout the meal and sent away with some cinnamon rolls for a snack later but ended up being much needed breakfast.

I had both sauna and dinner at this place. The sauna was amazing - I know it is not the most authentic experience, but for me who has only been to sauna once in my entire life, the organised system definitely helped. Also glad that I dipped in the freezing ocean (November), it turned out to be an amazing experience. The restaurant was okay. Great atmosphere but I didn’t like the food as much as I would love to. We have also waited quite some time until someone come and ask whether we have a booking or not.

I really enjoyed Löyly, a must visit to get the famous Finnish sauna experience. It was a mix of locals and tourists, due to the limited people they allow in each slot, it wasn’t too crowded. The two main saunas were great, they even opened the private for everyone which was also nice, much smaller than the other two. Sitting by the fire place in between sessions was an amazing way to recharge, I really enjoyed. Definitely recommend to make a booking weeks in advance, otherwise it might be full.

Savoy Café ☕️ Coffee — tasty, atmosphere — nice, overall everything’s good… But hey team, don’t forget to smile! Service is “technically fine”, but it’s the warmth that makes the difference. Still, definitely worth a stop for a quality cup of coffee.

I had the lobster linguine and it was absolutely delightful. The lobster was fresh and tender, paired with perfectly cooked linguine in a sauce that was creamy yet beautifully balanced — rich without being overwhelming. The staff recommended a glass of Pouilly-Fumé to go with it, and it turned out to be a perfect match. The overall setting is elegant and relaxed.

A wonderful bistro, with delicious dishes and a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere. It was quite busy, yet we enjoyed our stay and the staff were helpful all the time! The wine list is rather extensive, so you should definitely ask for suggestions. I had the signature cocktail, pork & celery, lobster pasta and tarte Tatin, and would recommend all of them!

Writing this as a native finn and Helsinki born individual. Really nice relaxed fine dining place. Located in a perfect spot by the legendary Esplanade Park. Big windows for you to watch the lively heart of the city. Were here with wife and 10 year old Child. Child had Gnocchies and chocolate mousse. We had the 4 course menu. Especially the white aspargus risotto blew our minds. Loved also the octopuss. Desserts were excellent. Staff was kind, authentic and warm hearted. Totally recommend this to any local or tourist. Café Regatta is a charming lakeside café located in a picturesque red cottage by the water. It's a bit of a scenic trip from the city center, but the peaceful ambiance makes it a relaxing destination. The café offers a cozy atmosphere with outdoor seating, perfect for enjoying a coffee and pastry while taking in the lakeside views. The cinnamon roll, though not as moist as expected, had a delightful cardamom fragrance that added a unique touch. The coffee, however, had a slight off taste, possibly due to the water used, which gave it a somewhat plasticky flavor. While the food and drink may not be exceptional, the tranquil setting and rustic charm of the cottage make Café Regatta a pleasant spot to unwind. It's a nice place to visit if you're in the area, but perhaps not worth a special trip solely for the refreshments.

it was such a romantic little spot surrounded by beautiful nature and lake views. We had a blueberry pie, a cinnamon bun, and a butter bun. all were freshly baked and absolutely delicious. The buns have a strong cardamom flavor, which will be amazing for cardamom lovers like me. but might feel a bit intense if you’re not used to it. As my husband said, after having a cardamom-rich bun, even the coffee started to taste a bit like scorched reindeer 🤣 in a funny, unexpected way! We walked here from Helsinki city center about 40 minutes on mostly flat paths, and it was a pleasant, scenic walk. The café has a rustic, homey atmosphere with outdoor seating right by the water. Perfect place to relax, chat, and soak in the Finnish charm. Highly recommend stopping by!

Beautiful cozy romantic coffee spot behind Sibelius Park! We got here by mistake because we were visiting Sibelius Park. After we dis all the touristy stuff there, a walk along the a lake called our attention and we walked over there. Then we saw this cute little cabana. We didn’t try any of the food (which looked amazing) because we had already eaten but we had a tea and spent a lovely time here. I am surprised I didn’t read about this place but it is something you should consider to stop by when visiting Helsinki.

Helsinki: --- Cafe Regatta is a charming little spot with an absolutely beautiful view of the water — definitely the highlight of the visit. The café itself has a cozy, rustic feel, which adds to its character. The coffee and snacks are decent, though nothing too special. It’s a nice place to stop by and enjoy the surroundings, especially on a sunny day, but it’s more about the atmosphere and location than the food itself.

Time flies and nothing changes. Luckily. Atmosphere here is amazing, so every time I’m in Helsinki, I’m coming back. Drinking coffee or a cacao here on the coast is just a pure pleasure. And prices are reasonable although it’s a really popular place.

We visited Gaijin as part of a credit card dining offer. We arrived on a Sunday at 15:00, just when they opened. It took about 20 min to get the menu and another 20 min to get the drinks. The starter arrived at 16:15. Starters were ok but nothing particularly special. The mains were tasty, especially the ribs. However, the amount of lettuce felt a bit too little for the dish. We had to cancel a drink that hadn't arrived by the time that we had finished the food, and the cherry on the cake was a hair in the food. Restaurant was not exactly busy, and there was sufficient staff. Yet, service was very lacking, and it ruined the experience and fond memories that we had of the place. Overall, the food was good but not worth waiting an hour for, and the flavour was not enough to compensate getting the dish cold. Probably not going back.

Restaurant Gaijin in Helsinki is one of those rare places where the food is so transportive, you forget you meant to document it. I had full intentions of snapping pictures of each course—beautiful plating, vibrant colors, you know the drill—but that plan evaporated by bite two. When the food’s this good, your camera can wait. The cuisine is modern Asian with Nordic finesse—Japanese, Korean, and a touch of Chinese, filtered through Helsinki cool. We went with the tasting menu, which I’d strongly recommend. It’s generous in portion and beautifully paced. Every dish felt deliberate but never fussy, with unexpected flavor combinations that worked: smoky and sweet, tangy and umami, spicy but in balance. Think marinated black cod that melts into the chopsticks, beef tartare with just the right amount of fire, and dumplings you want to live inside. There was a bit of a communication hiccup involving sake. We ordered one carafe, two appeared. At first, we thought, “How generous!” and then realized it was an error. But the staff handled it gracefully, crediting the second with a quiet smile and zero fuss. The space is moody and chic, with a sleek palette and soft lighting that makes every table feel intimate. It’s stylish without being sterile, and the service, while brisk, was polished and professional. In short: go hungry, order the tasting menu, and leave your phone in your pocket. Gaijin isn’t a place to perform your dinner—it’s a place to devour it.

Delicious food with generous portions and so many amazing flavours. Ama also really enjoyed her mocktail. A bit on the expensive side, but worth it.

We came here for the Michelin guide recommendation, however we were utterly disappointed. We waited more than an hour for our main courses. When the time came for them to come to the table, the waiter came up to us and just said “I took the wrong order” and apologized. We had a pregnant person in our party and the mistaken order was raw fish. The pregnant family member had to wait for more than two hours just to get something to eat. When the food came, it was only okay. Most of the orders came cold anyway.

Great idea, some what dissapointing execution Waguy beef excellent, octopus not suitable for individual bbq at all. Rice was completely destroyed, not even a porridge, but more like smashed. The people seated next to us kept complaining about the bbq as they did NOT do the bbq themselves, but were placed to sit there. Such an awful noise that we were unable to discuss – at all. Great flavours and structures in the starters, but the entire menu – which looked very good on paper – was just too much and some dished raised eyebrows, like why serve a full size portion of noodles with heavy sauce in the middle of the bbq when that alone was enough to fill tummies. Plates were not changed (e.g. between fish and meet) unless we asked to do so. Wet wipes would have been useful. The marinade in one meat was just bad with way too much garlic; why spoil a perfectly good meat with a forced marinade. Service started slow, first meet for bbq after 1 hour, but then in the end we were rushed to finish our eating. We hope that the menu is revised and that the idea will fly one day.

We ordered the mini tasting menu and it did not disappoint. The waitress recommended Wakayama Lover as a cocktail, I can tell you it was the most delicious cocktail I have ever had and was suprised it was Aperol based!! The food was delicious, a bit longer wait in between the dishes but we didn’t mind at all. The Bulgogi and shrimp was outstanding - so I highly recommend those dishes. The only downside was the noisy atmosphere, which made it harder to have a proper conversation, but it is a very cozy and intimate atmosphere overall. So just be aware if you don’t like louder restaurants.

We ordered a set menu (79€/person) plus we added their wine pairing set which made our dining experience extra special. 🙂 It was absolutely delicious! Thinking about the price of the menu, I think its a reasonable price with the variety of dishes you’ve get. Given already that Finland is an expensive country to begin with. But, the quality of the food and overall experience- Its total worth it! 💛 The staff are all friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. They were attentive to us despite that the restaurant was very busy. I never felt rushed eating which I appreciate very much. I like how they pay attention to us, they offered to refill our rice, change the plates, etc.. 🙂 Just a downside, is the space. Its a bit too crowded. Nonetheless, we would definitely recommend to try this restaurant 💛

Food wise, presentation is nice, but overall its way too salty for my liking. Almost every single dish served is way too salty for me to be able to appreciate it. The service is good and attentive. The staff explained all the dishes served with lots of details provided. Restaurant ambience is nice too. Not fancy decoration but feels more like home atmosphere.

If I were asked whether Olo’s Michelin star experience was worth it, I’d probably say not quite. And if asked whether the food matched the price point, I’d have to say it leaned on the high side for what was delivered. I started with the pan-seared scallop with sunflower seed miso and browned butter. The scallops were a touch overcooked, slightly chewy, and the miso leaned a bit too salty. A lighter hand with seasoning could have let the sweetness of the scallop and nuttiness of the sunflower seed shine through. The grilled Wagyu A5 sirloin with sunchoke and oxtail sauce was nicely prepared—the Wagyu itself was cooked beautifully and showcased its rich, buttery flavor. However, the sauce again tipped toward being overly salty, which unfortunately overshadowed the natural depth of the beef. With a more balanced sauce, this dish could have been exceptional. We were also served a side of Siikli potatoes with morels and white asparagus in a mushroom stock. The morels were handled perfectly, earthy and delicate, but the stock carried too much salt, masking what could have been a wonderfully subtle interplay of flavors. Even a slightly milder stock would have allowed the morels and asparagus to truly stand out. Overall, I left a bit disappointed—not because the ingredients or ideas lacked merit, but because the seasoning repeatedly tipped the balance of otherwise beautiful dishes. Great cooking doesn’t always need intensity; sometimes restraint allows the natural flavors and aromas to speak for themselves.

I can’t rate this highly enough, please go before chef moves in August 2025. Creative menu featuring the unique flavors of Finland (Scandi/Nordic) but yet each dish was yummy and presented well. Service was effortless which made the meal proceed smoothly. Despite each dish being sophisticated with multiple layers of flavors and textures - the meal progressed smoothly and we completed the tasting menu in 2hrs.

The place feels modern and classy, though I would've preferred if it were fully carpeted rather than partially. Dishes were mostly good but not as impressive as expected given the price. There was raw dough on the table when we came in which was then taken to the kitchen to bake as the evening began. I thought that was a nice touch. However, our sourdough had a slightly burnt crust. I had read many reviews commenting on its saltiness and noted to the restaurant that we prefer our food lightly seasoned. However, most of the dishes were still quite salty. There was one dish in particular that I really enjoyed which was the smoked peas. The peas tasted so fresh and crisp, yet fully cooked. The sweetness of the peas was perfectly preserved with a distinct smokiness. I was very impressed. My second favourite was the scallop which was very tender and well seasoned, though I would've preferred if it were a touch more cooked. Now my least favourite dish---the sweetbreads. The dish was very pretty but so salty that it almost tasted bitter. I guess they couldn't make a less salty version of sweetbreads if it was pre-marinaded, even though Iade the booking a week in advance---which brings me to my next point, the service. The service was great. They bring the dishes to the side of your table and add the finishing touches by pouring the sauces over dishes. However, when I raised the issue with the sweetbreads, the one who seemed to be in charge seemed to be in disbelief that it would be salty. She first proposed that they serve the same dish but leave out the sauce, but I declined and pointed out that it was the sweetbreads itself rather than the sauce on top that was insanely salty. She then argued that salt wasn't added to the sweetbreads when it was getting cooked. I found such explanation perfunctory and I believe the sweetbreads was marinated in way too much salt. She also told me that they had never had such comments on their food, which they would've received had they read their Google reviews. They could've at least tasted their own dish to verify if they found it so hard to believe. In the end, she offered us a fish dish as an alternative and it was not at all marinated, but we didn't mind because at least it wasn't extremely salty. The dessert was too sweet for us and the coffee and tea were unremarkable. I would not recommend this restaurant unless they do something about the extremely salty sweetbreads.

Restaurant Olo has one of the best locations in Helsinki. Right next to the Presidential Palace and Senate Square, the windows open up to the Esplanade and Market Square. Tables are fairly large and the seating is very comfortable, which is what you'd expect when they state that the menu will take approximately 3 hours to complete. Fresh flowers and neutral colours with ambient jazz in the background were a great setting for the Menu Olo 2025. The set menu consists of 11 courses with two optional add-ons. There are lots of seasonal items paired with luxurious classics like caviar, lobster, and Wagyu. Local ingredients are greatly represented and well executed. The whole show is run by very professional and friendly staff. There was lots of chit-chat during service, along with thorough explanations of wines and dishes. We especially liked how most of the courses were finished tableside, where you could admire the pros adding the final touch to each course. The menu was very strong from start to finish. Each dish was delicious, and it seemed that it only got better and better approaching the end. Thinking back, it's really hard to highlight something from the menu, because it was overall excellent. Each dish had many different layers of goodness and creativity hidden inside. Both of the two optional add-ons appeared super-tempting, but when it was time, we opted for the lighter one and oh boy, was it worth it. It was such a brilliant entremets of caviar and sherbet. The desserts were on par with everything else, a truly happy ending to a terrific meal. Olo is a great restaurant. There's lots of talent in the kitchen, and it's a great place to show off Finnish haute cuisine. Surprisingly, they have only one Michelin star; with this kind of execution, there's lots of potential to get another.

The ingredients were fresh, dishes well presented, and the bread freshly baked and delicious. We appreciated the detailed explanations of the food and its origins. However, several aspects fell short. The food, while generally well-executed, was heavy on dairy, with nearly every dish featuring cream or butter, which left us feeling overly full and diminished the unique flavors. Cocktails were disappointing, taking 17 minutes to arrive, and the Old Fashioned lacked the typical garnish. Service post-payment was poor; after settling the bill, we were forgotten and had to wait for my jacket. Additionally, we were charged €10 for filtered tap water without being informed of the cost or asked about refills. The ambiance also had shortcomings. The toilets, with bright red sinks and harsh lighting, felt out of place for a high-end restaurant, and the mismatched decor detracted from the otherwise elegant setting. At €189 for the 11-course meal excluding drinks, Olo was one of the most expensive Michelin-starred restaurants we've visited. While there were moments of culinary delight, the overall experience lacked the extraordinary touch justifying the Michelin star and high cost. In conclusion, Restaurant Olo offers fresh ingredients, beautiful presentations, and informative explanations but falls short in service, drink quality, and ambiance, leaving a mixed impression.

Unreasonably Low Review Score Tucked away in Helsinki’s lively Kaartinkaupunki quarter, The Cock delivered a dinner that deserved far more stars than any stingy rating might suggest. We kicked things off with not one but three beef tartars—yes, three—because after the first bite it was obvious one would never be enough for two hungry diners. Each plate arrived impeccably seasoned, the velvety meat crowned with briny capers and a cheeky smattering of pickled onions that made the flavors pop. A juicy house burger followed, its brioche bun soaking up every last drop of smoky aioli without collapsing into a soggy mess. The unexpected star, though, was a side of buttery spring cabbage whose delicate sweetness somehow stole the show. A chilled glass (or two) of crisp Crémant tied the whole feast together, proving top-notch bubbles don’t have to cost Champagne prices. Just as memorable as the food was the vibe. The dining room hummed with chatter, every table radiating that “we’re-all-friends-here” energy you secretly hope to find on a Friday night out. Our waiter Lavrentiy floated between guests with the ease of a seasoned host, topping up water, cracking jokes, and offering off-menu tips without ever feeling intrusive. From lighting that flatters both selfies and entrées to a playlist that nudges shoulders into a relaxed sway, The Cock nails the fine art of laid-back hospitality. Frankly, the only thing out of balance is whatever algorithm keeps its review score unjustifiably low.

Great casual restaurant where kids are welcome. Classic but varied menu, I had the steak tartare and my wife had scollops which we both enjoyed. There was a kids menu and our two had a cheese burger and chicken wings. Local beer was refreshing. A nice place to sit with friendly service.

The waiter was super friendly and the atmosphere was on point! The location is pretty central so that’s a big plus. We ordered the set menu, the starter had a lot of spouts and was lacking some fat in the scampi, they didn’t have the risotto so I got the salmon dish which it was pretty delicious and the dessert was a normal crème brûlée. I forgot to mention that my friends got the tartare as main dish which was super good!

I went to dinner with colleagues. The service was excellent. The food was at a high level. The prices were a bit on the expensive side (steak €38, burger €26), but definitely worth trying and coming in. Overall, I highly recommend the place if your budget is not super tight.

We had an new years eve menu at The cock. Our table was downstairs and i think that our table was too close to another table. The food was generally Ok keeping in mind the ingredients on the plate. Nothing special just ok. Staff was very good and active in a good way. Enjoyed our visit. Bill was more than excpected.

The kingfish was very good with the special green sauce. ( you need to order raw platter then you will have the king fish) the waitress and the chef were so kind, they gave me addition green sauce to eat with mussels. The lobster was good too.

Lovely atmosphere. A bit oldschool, but in a very positive way. Cosy seating, stylish Interieur and a tiny bit of old grandeur. Service was friendly, some smaller hiccups, but nothing major. Really enjoyed my waldorf salad. Fresh and intense - just as it should be. Also enjoyed the fish, yet for a Dover sole it was not exactly at the upper end. Really good potato purée. Not too shale, not too intense. The haricots were a bit off and too sour for my taste. All in all I would recommend the bar, even if the value for price is not the best.

I ordered the tartare as a starter while my friends had the salmon. I got to try a bit of everything, and overall the flavors complemented each other very well. A really enjoyable meal.

Ate the Amex dinner menu today. I chose the beef tartar as a starter and Iberico pork as a main course. Tartar was nice, but not the best I’ve eaten, could say that quite simple version of a beef tartar in general. But then the Iberico was awesome. Well seasoned, cooked perfectly and sauces 5/5. And the non-alcoholic Riesling was the best non-alcoholic wine I have ever tasted, I personally do recommend trying it for everyone - also for the ones who would usually prefer alcoholic ones!

Boulevard Bar & Seafood is located along a charming area of the Esplanade district of Helsinki and is within easy walking distance of the ferry piers and the town's main sightseeing areas. As a Michelin 2024 restaurant, it was relatively good but not exceptional. Service trailed a bit by the end of our meal and the wine was extremely pricey. Overall, an enjoyable meal but not one I'd repeat.

Seafood feast in heart of Helsinki city. It’s not that every restaurant I go to, everything is great. I do my research as per what I feel like eating before I pick a place. I really wanted to enjoy seafood in Scandinavia as I was close to North Sea which is probably the heaven for seafood. I found this place which had a passionate chef when we met him and extraordinary staff who was well aware of ultimate cooking temperature and all for most of the dishes. I had a great time with my friends dining here and enjoyed every bite of most of the menu. A must try place

Very friendly and professional service with amazing wine list. And don’t leave without trying their Espresso Martini, it’s to die for! 100% worth of money! Must try when in Helsinki.

Excellent reindeer meat and fish dishes. But the front desk person collected our coats for the optional coat check without informing us that there is a 3.50 charge per coat. What a slimey and underhanded way to make extra money. The restaurant looks dated and smells like cigarettes. We Had to wait 20 minutes for a table even though the restaurant was half full.

Food is a top notch and the restaurant has nice interior. I had the legendary Vorschmack for starter and reindeer as a main. The only reason leaving out a star is the fact that you are asked to pay for leaving your jacket??? 3.5e per person? I have never seen that before. Will you also ask to pay for using the toilet? Super annoying.

A bit on the pretentious side, this historic Helsinki restaurant feels more Viennese than Finnish, with a distinctly Germanic atmosphere — elegant decor and formally dressed waiters. The food was tasty but quite overpriced, even by Helsinki standards. The place was very noisy, and our waiter had trouble hearing our order, which made communication a bit difficult, especially for a larger group, even though we had a reservation. While he spoke English fluently, he wasn’t particularly polite. The restaurant clearly caters to tourists and business groups — lots of men in suits having formal dinners. One strange detail: a €3.50 cloakroom fee, which felt rather forced by the staff. On the plus side, the restrooms had real cloth hand towels — a rare touch.

Congress in Helsinki, we decide to eat here. As soon as we walk in, they ask me to leave my jacket. I wasn’t wearing a jacket, just a simple sweatshirt that I preferred to keep with me because it wasn’t very warm inside. The coat check attendant seemed annoyed by this, probably because they charge €3.50 for the coat check, and in his eyes, I was trying to avoid the fee. The food was decent but the price was too high for the quality offered. The worst part was that at the end of the dinner, after I had already paid, the coat check attendant started getting angry with me because I hadn’t left my sweatshirt at the entrance, saying it was mandatory (and paid!) just like in all restaurants in Helsinki. Honestly, it’s my second time in Helsinki and I’ve been to around ten restaurants—I’ve never seen this rule before. And judging from other reviews, I’m not the only one. How you treat customers defines who you are.

Fantastic dinner experience! I could not fault anything. The warm, welcoming service from the staff, the delicious food, the cool decor and atmosphere. And they are extremely dog friendly! We had the vegan set menu, and everything was great! This restaurant exceeded expectations. I will definitely return next time I am in Helsinki.

We happened to turn up at Yes Yes Yes on a Sunday and mothers day – so lots of things closed and busy. They were full but squeezed us in. They were running a set menu of small plates. Outstanding! Everything was great – we particularly liked the fried gnocci and the risotto. The tofu sticks were delicate with a great dip/sauce. Lovely wine. Service was particularly attentive and very upbeat. Definitely one to go back to.

Had dinner here a couple months ago with my friends (a party of four) and I have to say that I hugely recommend! We had two starters to share, four main courses and two desserts. The food itself was above average good, but for example the bread-dip ratio in the tandoori bread thingy was a little off. My friend said her risotto was amazing and I especially loved the sourness of the rhubarb sauce with my asparagus. Plus point for the dishes that change seasonally to honour the ingredients that are currently at their best! The service could only be received in English but that didn’t bother us, on the contrary! The staff were friendly and polite and eager to recommend dishes and explain the differences between menus. The atmosphere was pleasant too. Definitely worth another visit! <3

Visited Bardot with my son and friends on a beautiful Saturday evening this Summer! Excellent food, superb location, friendly and knowledgeable staff with lots of wine! Wine selection is excellent and you can also ask to get pairing suggestions for your food. This is not the cheapest but guaranteed quality food in the heart of Helsinki.

The food and the service are truly amazing. We started with the Rockefeller oysters along with chips, and both were absolutely fantastic—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. For our mains, we had the entrecôte and the steak au poivre, and they were cooked to perfection, tender, and bursting with flavor. The quality of the ingredients really shines through, and everything was beautifully presented. The staff was attentive without being intrusive, making the whole dining experience smooth and enjoyable. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed evening or a special occasion.

Upon arrival, we waited for about an hour before we were able to order drinks. Soon after, we found out that the dishes we had planned to order were not available. The main course we did receive was so overly salted that it was impossible to eat (I usually enjoy quite salty food, but even for me, it was too much). My companion left their main course uneaten. We were disappointed with the food, and the service was also slow.

Food is fresh and delicious. The biscuits at the end of the meal was alright, but i have tasted nicer ones. We had mixed pairing with the menu. We sat in the restaurant as it was quite cold outside. We are a big group of 8. Even though they fit us in, it was a little cramp and i was bumped into by the wait staff a couple of times.

Every dish was delicious and its own art piece. Great wines and also tasty non-alcoholic beverages. Great for vegetarians also! The atmosphere in this place is cozy; the building itself is unique. To top it off, we really enjoyed the laidback and friendly service. Topnotch experience!

Interesting flavors, but really small portions - our group admitted the next day they ended up eating something else later in the night, as we left pretty hungry. I honestly hate being the person leaving a review like this, but throughout the multiple-course tasting dinner, we wondered "when will the entree rounds finish and the main course get served", just to get the dessert come out aka the last course (which I loved, the homemade toffee cubes were so good!). As for the "interesting" flavors, I think some of the food was a tad overflavored/oversalted. I love flavors, but the the salt was really overpowering in some of the dishes.

Reindeers. You cannot not be reminded that you'll be eating reindeers in this Nordic restaurant by the numerous reindeer antlers scattered all over as decor and dare I say, look at your food whilst being alive when you're using their toilet. I thought the list of food presented were all somewhat appetising although I would add that some of the ingredients used (ie reindeers heart) can be interesting. Reindeer steak was nice if the heart carpaccio hasn't put you off yet. It was well cooked to medium and cut was sirloin and very lean. The The palate cleanser was surprisingly not sorbet but the granulated crumbs kinda did the job. Service was acceptable but it felt a lot like reading off a memorised script than anything. Generally I would say it's a fancy place for some reindeer theme but probably not a place I'll visit constantly. I wonder if they have a Rudolph Special during Christmas though.

We were in Helsinki a week and had reservations at a different nice restaurant each evening. I think this one was our favorite. The ambiance is lovely, the server friendly (helpful with ides of things to see). The food was delicious! We had two starters: the carrots & the Whitefish. The Main course: Salmon Soup and Reindeer with potatoes. Delish, and we would definitely return. Had the Cheesecake for dessert.

Spectacular warm Lappish dinner, including delicious sautéed reindeer with mashed potatoes, and lingonberries, perfect for a cold Helsinki night. Although you are not in the north of Finland, if you do not plan to go, you must try food from Lapland before you leave. This is one of two restaurants I recommend. The wait staff are attentive and very pleasant. The ambience is warm, with Nordic music playing softly in the background. I highly recommend it.

This is a review about the restaurant, the hotel is great. I had dinner here with my wife and 2 year old daughter. It was our last day in Helsinki and I was willing to pay a premium for what I expected to be a great dinner and for the convenience of eating in our hotel. We ordered the €85 tasting menu. The food was great, but this bad review is because of two reasons: - First, portions were very small. When spending so much money, leaving hungry is quite annoying. - Second, and more important, the service was EXTREMELY SLOW. We spent more than 2 hours there, and, considering how small the portions were, we could have certainly finished in half an hour at most. It took them 40 minutes just to bring the dessert! This is especially unacceptable when there's a toddler at the table, who obviously isn't going to be as patient as us. So we had to give her way too much screen time just to calm her down. We arrived at 18:00 on Monday, I had previously made a reservation, and when we arrived there was only another table, with 2 people, being served. I don't know what happened but this is completely unacceptable. We certainly wouldn't have had dinner here, even for free, if we knew that would be our experience. It wasn't just our most expensive dinner in Finland but the worst of them.

Don’t even think about eating anywhere else if you are in the mood for Finish Lapland food. Great execution, just take the 5 dish surprise meal with the wine pairing. Don’t ask. Just enjoy

Best dinner we've had on our trip so far. Food was very good. Atmosphere was charming. Service was outstanding - our server was so helpful with every request we made and he even gave us some tips on where to go next when we asked. Pasta was fresh and flavorful. We had the ragu and the pumpkin tortellini and would other both again. Even the bread was surprisingly delicious. Very small menu 4 or 5 appetizers and 4 or mains. And it seems there is always a line (no reservations) but even at 19:30 on a Friday night, we only waited about 20 minutes.

Lovely interior and quick, attentive service. We arrived at 9 PM and were reassured by the host that everyone in line would get a table, a nice touch since they don’t take reservations. The pastas were excellent, though portions a bit small, so starters are a good idea. The wine selection was great, and the server happily explained both the wines and the dishes. A cozy, well-run restaurant that I can warmly recommend!

Be prepared to que outside on weekends. It is however completely worth it! As a group of 3, we tried all the pastas on the menu and shared. Definitely recommend sharing plates and ordering multiple starters. The main courses are quite small, I recommend ordering 3 or 4 main courses for for two people or 4-5 main courses for 3 people. The best pastas according to our table was pepper cheese pasta and the artichoke pasta. However we all liked all of them. You might get surprised but the size of their beer, but don't worry they only costs 2.5€ each, so you can order multiple. The best thing on the menu was the mocktail, it is literally the best drink I've ever tried in my life, don't miss it, you can also order it as alcohol version. The service was genuinely friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was incredible!

Goose Pasta Bar is an absolute gem. The space is cozy and inviting—perfect for a relaxed, intimate meal. I started with a beautifully plated appetizer of burrata, asparagus, fresh bread, and a light vinaigrette. Every bite was fresh, balanced, and full of flavor. For the main course, the rabbit ragu was outstanding—rich, comforting, and cooked to perfection. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, creating a laid-back but thoughtful dining experience. Delicious food, thoughtful service, and a welcoming vibe—what more could you ask for?

Jerusalem artichoke pasta was fantastic along with the salted bread, enough food for one person. It’s quite popular, so I’d recommend making a reservation in advance. The atmosphere is great with dim lighting. The appetizers came out quickly; the beef tartare was good, and the octopus was a hot dish, decent taste. For the main course, I had the braised beef in red wine, it was really tender, practically melting in your mouth, but there was too much fatty meat. The catch of the day was quite good. The fried beans that came with it had a unique twist, though they were a bit greasy. Overall, the service was excellent.

Unfortunately I found this place very over priced and occasionally they hold events and we ended up sitting outside in the rain under an umbrella. I get the staff are busy and trying their best. But honestly for the food and price I didnt think it was worth it at all. It also took them a very long time to serve and serve food and the portion sizes were very small, hence it was very expensive for what they served. .

The restaurant Elm is a charmingly bohemian spot next to the beautiful Kaivopuisto park. We sat outside on a summer evening and ordered the full menu, which includes shared starters such as creamy burrata, crispy and flavorful olives, and hummus with a pesto heart. The fish main course, pike perch, came in a nice tomato-based sauce with a bouillabaisse-style flavor. The saffron risotto with honey turnip and pistachio was very well prepared. The dessert, chocolate soft ice, was somewhat trivial although nicely cool. The very friendly and relaxed service fits well with the atmosphere.

An intimate and atmospheric place in a beautiful building in a great location. I had an excellent pressed lamb with seasonal vegetables. A very balanced dish. In my companion's dish, the pike perch had been replaced by whitefish, but it was a fantastic dish. The fish, braised in browned butter, was heavenly. The wine recommendation was also spot on. The dessert of creme brule with strawberry-black pepper sorbet was also a positive surprise. The fresh sorbet made the portion well balanced.

Absolutely delicious salmon tartar and regular tartar. Their fries were perfection, my favorite fries I’ve had in ages in Helsinki. Their wine selection was really good and tip: ask the waiter if they have any good/interesting wine bottle open that is not on the menu. You might very well be lucky! Overall love this place: food is amazing, service is outstanding and nothing beats sitting outside on Bulevardi on a summer evening.

I had left a note in my reservation about tartar, but it was not addressed and the first course was tartar without any check from the staff. Overall, good food but feels more like a casual restaurant than fine dining.

We have never experienced such poor service compared to similar restaurants in Helsinki. Here’s a summary of our experience: (1) We ordered the 5-course menu, but only received four courses when it came time for dessert, the waitress validated with the kitchen and informed us, “I have no idea why we didn’t serve you the starter.” (2) The wine was poured while I was in the restroom, with no opportunity to taste or see the bottle. I had to specifically ask about which wine was served. (3) Since we only received four out of five courses, the restaurant offered a 20% discount. However, I had also opted out of the cheese plate, meaning I effectively only received a 3-course meal. Despite this, the discount was applied to the full 5-course menu price. (4) My friend and I paid separately, but despite ordering different wines and courses (he had four courses while I had three), the waitress simply split the bill evenly between us. This was not only inaccurate but also frustrating. While the food was refined, the service was neither attentive nor respectful.

Very big disappointment. Have never seen this level place with THIS horrible service. Makes me feel that you could just buy a place in Michelin guide. The menus were never explained, not a word about the courses. We ordered olives, that were not brought. When we ask the waiter (makes me think it was a shift manager or such, as other waitresses were asking him for advice, a tall guy with glasses) about our olives his reaction was -A!! No apologies or anything. (Later on, they did not include the olives in the check, let’s say it was a sign of apology…….) I had white fish crudo for the starter, which had lots of sauce and a spoon was supposed to be brought with it. (The other waitress brought the same dish for the other table with the spoon at the very beginning and the guests did not have to ask for it separately). When my wife finished her starter and I was still eating, the same guy just took away her plate without asking e.g. if she enjoyed the food or anything. That was just gross violation of service rules . Makes me feel the guy never worked in a restaurant before and does not even know the basics. As to the food, it was ok, nothing special. Presentation was average, as well as the taste. Though, I was amazed with the wines- there were brilliant. Overall, it is not worth it. I’m so shocked how place with this kind of service could be in Michelin guide Would not recommend.

Traveled from the US to visit friends, place was recommended. I was not disappointed. Awesome place for food and drinks great staff. Super friendly cosy environment, food was amazing. From the fish and pork, down to the corn. Chefs kiss! Will definitely come back when I'm helsinki next.

Everything about this restaurant is great. The atmosphere is great as we managed to book a somewhat private table for our group. The service was great as well. As for the food. Our meal is shared dishes, which means we share the food instead of individual portions. And everything was great. The beef tartare and the steak were great. Cooked perfectly. Their salad and homemade bread is another level as well. The potato was also great. Their desert wine was tasty. And the desert itself was also great. It didn't look like an appetite but one bite is enough to change your mind. Overall it was a great experience and I recommend this restaurant if you have the chance.

BasBas Kulma has a 4.6 rating for a reason (I am surprised it’s not higher), everything about it is unique and the food is absolutely delicious. VIKTOR & HIU ensured our experience was nothing less than remarkable, thank you both once again!! Because of the terrific customer service & spectacular food we are dining in the upstairs bistro in three days to experience yet another aspect of BasBas, can’t wait!!!!

Came here for Saturday lunch and it was surprisingly quiet. We ended up ordering way too much but everything was delicious. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself is really pretty. I can imagine it being even more cozy and intimate in the evening. Would definitely come back!

Ordered the small portion and was enough for two. If you get the bread board as well it makes for a great pairing. Was fun to watch the meat be cut on the machine Sage linguine: Didn’t know what to expect but loved by the end of the dish. Suitable for nut allergy as they can remove the pine nuts from the top. Very summery and light. Gnocchi: Summery taste. Friend liked but thought the ratio of sauce to gnocchi wasn’t great. Needed more gnocchi. Shakahouka: Was the least popular dish at the table but the flavour was good. Eggs were fried on top rather than cooked in the tomato sauce which was different. Little spicy for those who don’t eat spice (so watch out!). Bread: Fantasic sourdough. Finland has questionable bread in my opinion but these guys have done it very well. Service: Very very friendly and attentive. Busy place when we arrived so recommend booking.

One of the best restaurants in Helsinki – and still a hidden gem! I’m genuinely surprised this place isn’t packed every night. We walked in without a reservation and were blown away by the whole experience. The food is not just seasonal and fresh – it’s full of talent, charisma, and a deep understanding of what makes something truly delicious. I was especially impressed by the salads. The Panzanella salad was so tasty I honestly wished they served it in an XXL size! I'm not always a fan of fish, but their fillet with yogurt-herb sauce and beans had the perfect flavor, texture, and a touch of Greek summer. The small churros made from fish were bursting with spice and taste. But what really made the evening unforgettable was the atmosphere – warm, welcoming, and relaxed – and the incredibly attentive staff. Nollita is a place I’ll keep coming back to, and one I hope stays just the way it is: quietly excellent.

We came here for an impromptu Thursday night dinner. I would highly recommend Nolita for an easygoing, delicious evening. The aesthetics and atmosphere are wonderful, much like at Elm, Nolita's sister. Most restaurants in Helsinki are somewhat bland or lifeless in that regard; here, you feel like you're transported somewhere. The food was very good, and in particular the starters were amazing. I think next time I'll just order starters because they were so delicious. That's not to say the mains weren't good - we enjoyed especially the gnocchi. One of the waiters (the dude) was perhaps trying to sell us extra a bit too hard, but the other one (the woman) was fantastic.

We visited Nolita for the Father’s Day menu, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. The appetizers and the sage pasta were absolutely delicious! Perfectly balanced flavors and beautifully presented dishes. The wine selection was great and paired wonderfully with the food. The service was flawless: friendly, attentive, and professional. The prices were reasonable considering the high quality of both the food and the service. Definitely a place we’ll be returning to!

Restored fish market (I am assuming) that now houses individual food stalls. We were there pretty early so it wasn't busy. There are free toilets in the back. We bought a delicious lingonberry mini pie. It's right on the water, near the ferry that takes you to Suomenlinna, a popular tourist destination. I imagine that the hall is jam packed during the day. There are hot prepared, packaged, and to go options available.

Near the outdoor market, ferry to Suomenlinna, and offers delicious salmon soup... couldn't love this spot more. Visited twice on my short trip to Helsinki. Does seem to get quite the cruise crowd at lunchtime though.

The Old Market Hall is a beautiful seaside building, and its elegant exterior immediately caught my eye. Inside, it opens up into a lively market where you can find everything from fresh produce to local delicacies and souvenirs. There are also plenty of food stalls and cafés to choose from. I tried reindeer soup at one of the lovely cafés inside, and it was absolutely delicious. It’s a wonderful place to explore, enjoy local flavours, and experience a bit of Helsinki’s food culture. Highly recommended when visiting the city.

Tasted a good great salmon soup, cinnamon bun and non alcoholic glogi from one of stalls. Enjoyed the vibe along with locals for an afternoon tea and hopefully, able to visit to the market hall again. Highly recommended for those who plan to visit Helsinki city centre:)

A great Finnish neighbourhood restaurant which is a short taxi rider from the city centre. There was a variety of options on the a la carte menu (though perhaps more limited for vegetarians) and everything dish we tried was fantastic. The staff are really friendly and helpful with recommendations.

Super nice atmosphere, service and food. We had a table reserved. All four of us chose a menu with some modifications which was no problem whatsoever, and the food was fantastic! We agreed the traditional smoked salmon soup was the best. Even though the menu is rather short, there was a dish perfect for everyone’s taste and preference and the dishes were served with perfect timing in-between. Our waiter was very lovely! Absolutely recommend this restaurant.

It's about a 15-minute tram ride from the city center. They offer several course menus, but you can also customize or arrange what you want. It was my first time eating reindeer tartare, and it was absolutely delicious. The reindeer fillet for the main dish was tender and seemed like healthy lean meat. It was a little pricey, but it was a satisfying dinner worth it. The staff were very kind and they were happy to accommodate us with children. The atmosphere was definitely great. I'd love to go again.

Absolutely amazing experience. The service was top-notch, and the waiters were super friendly and attentive. The predefined menu packages were awesome, and I really liked that you could swap dishes between different menus if you wanted. The wine package was really, really good and matched perfectly with the food. I would love to come back here again. Highly recommended.

This place is simply phenomenal! Our entire group agreed it was the best overall meal we had during our entire two weeks in the Baltics and Scandinavia. The smoked salmon soup has to be the best in Helsinki. It’s review-worthy in every sense of the word.

Visited in Sep 2025 Nokka is one of the few Michelin guide restaurants in Helsinki which is open on a Monday. As a result, booked a dinner reservation here during my short trip to Helsinki. There was a tasting menu and an a-la-carte menu and I went with the tasting menu which was reasonably priced at €139 (incl taxes). Nokka celebrates Finnish produce/catch and all but one item (king crab from Norway) in the tasting menu was non-Finnish. The food was quite good and you could tell that the ingredients/components of each course were quite fresh. My favourite course was the reindeer tataki which was absolutely brilliant. Overall, I enjoyed my meal at Nokka and I would definitely recommend it to folks visiting Helsinki.

I did not expect too much due to my last experience years ago, I was surprised by the outcome, in a positive way. The food was very tasty and the service was quite excellent. Everything worked so perfectly together in such a lovely building. We took the Nokka menu and I simply liked each dish, as they were present in good balance. We enjoyed the evening very much.

Good quality Finnish food with ingredients such as local fish and reindeer. We went during the game season and the sauce was tasty. Nice service from staffs. Advance reservation is recommended.

The food was good for the taste and the environment was charming. We went there because I wanted to have proper seafood. But there weren’t many choices about seafood, just two dishes about fish and that’s all. We ordered the regular dishes but the portions were very small. I will not imagine for the tasting menu how smaller they can be. I never had bad experience in the fine dining with wine but this was the first time. The wines they tried to promote for tasting were the lowest table wine level and the reality also fits the image but they promoted them as super wines. And the prices were like gold.

Location: Very cool venue, nice decoration, open kitchen. Food preparation: Excellent! Amount/Price: Starters are NANO-portions! Mains are just ok. Chef special main dish 56€! Ridiculous! Tap water: 12€ "Bread basket" 1 slice per person. Kidding? Asked for more bread and received even 2 smaller slices. That was really shocking. 400€ bill and considering a fast food snack on the way home. I explained my opinion after being asked by the waitress in a very friendly and polite, diplomatic, way. Got explained that many customers complain about TOO BIG portions. REALLY? That's been too rich BS! Finally, my honest answer obviously disqualified us to get our coats returned by the staff, so we had to search for them ourself in the cabinets. How can a restaurant with obviously high class cooking survive, delivering such a diappointing "soft product" ?

If you come to Helsinki and have no idea where to go, then I would happily suggest Café Engel ! Close to the Cathedral, it's a lovely little place, with delicious food - and I have gone multiple times with friends. I would also heartily recommend their salmon soup, my personal fave !

I had reindeer meat and mashed potatoes with sparkling water. It was fresh but for first try it has different taste especially red berries. As a desert I had blueberry cake it was so delicious.

Food was great. We got the blueberry desserts. Can't the names but those were really good! Price-wise, it was okay but this is the first cafe we tried in Helsinki so I have no reference to compare it with.

We visited Café Engel during a weekday lunch. Although the restaurant was quite busy, we managed to find seats without much difficulty. Orders were placed through the waitress, and I chose the meatballs. The food was served promptly, and the meatballs were decent. However, I wished there had been more sauce to accompany the mashed potatoes for a more satisfying balance of flavours.

This restaurant is located very close to the center of Helsinki, which makes parking a bit challenging, but it’s definitely worth a visit. The interior is warm and inviting, creating a cozy atmosphere to enjoy your meal. The staff were polite and friendly, and the food quality was excellent, the Italian-style pizzas were delicious, especially by Finnish standards. I was really satisfied with the pizzas I tried. They also have a bar, so you can order both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks with your meal. I visited on a holiday, but I’ve heard they offer a lunch buffet on regular weekdays, which is another reason to come back and try more.

Super relaxed place with really cool music — very hip vibe. The pizza was insanely good, with a super thin base and a perfectly crispy crust, almost like in Italy. The only thing that was a bit annoying (which wasn’t the restaurant’s fault) were the seagulls. The staff did their best to clear away leftover food quickly, but sometimes it was just too late, and the birds went for it. Other than that, there’s really nothing to complain about. I’d definitely go back! Especially in the evening, I bet it turns into a really cool bar atmosphere.

We tried the Chilli Caesar Pizza and the burrata. The pizza wasn’t too spicy, so those who are hesitant can give it a try. The burrata was also decent. The staff were very attentive, and the place has a vibrant atmosphere. Pizza: 4/5 Burrata: 3.5/5

I would certainly recommend this place. Nice pizza, with a gluten-free option for an additional cost that was also nice. The nachos were tortilla chips with guacamole and salsa, no cheese, which was a shame, but the salsa and guacamole was tasty. Staff were very efficient if a little unwelcoming. Decent atmosphere and an overall pleasant experience.

Numerous variety of pizza but out of them I will suggest either try funghi and chilius cesar it is bit spicy but I bet you won’t regret also their dips are fire. And don’t forget to order putte nachos with coffee. Staff is nice can speak English take care of hygiene clean toilet I must say this is a go to place in centre Helsinki.

Was told by someone visiting the city; I heard the salmon soup is something to try in Finland, and for a fine dining place kuukuu serves one of the best ones. Traditional finnish foods, with nordic seasonal menus that aren’t too complicated. The three course set menus aren’t small portions so value is on point. You could go fancier than this but for smart casual dinner its optimal. We’ve also celebrated a few occassions and held business dinners for a bit larger group at the venue as you can book a cabinet.

I had my first meal in my first visit to Helsinki and it was an extravagant dinner. We didn't make a reservation but there was still a table outside so we could sit in the sun. I ordered a starter, a main dish and dessert. The salad with goat cheese was refreshing and felt like a main dish in itself (at least for my Asian stomach space). The meatballs with mashed potato was an indulgence but I sadly couldn't finish the potato. The sour and fresh berries really help cut through the creaminess of the mashed potato. Thankfully I have separate stomach space for the delicious creme brulee (which thankfully was a small, nice portion). The price is on the more expensive side but I'm aware there are more pricey places in this city. If you stay in the area and feel like treating yourself, this is a good suggestion.

Modern takes and innovative dishes - a big 10/10 for every take, and the team was superb!

- foie gras macaron wasn’t for me but had beautiful display - the crunchy snack chip at the beginning was unique and tasted good - excellent mussel dish; had a smokiness taste that was very good - the bread was cute and small; very sugary tasting and hot - excellent halibut that is fresh; the lemon and leaves had a very strong counter to it, which is excellent for me but may not be for - king crab tail was delicious; never tried anything like it and the sauce was perfect - the reindeer heart was different; good flavors but definitely gamey - sorbet palette cleanser was refreshing - final dessert was good with the hazelnut crisp; the bottom part was a bit soggy with the syrup but the ice cream and gold leaves were a very nice touch Favorites: - mussels were unlikely any elsewhere with the flavors - good pace of food coming out; didn’t seem to long or too short - second set of bread was delicious and sugary Least favorite: - one of the waiters was coughing quite a bit; didn’t look extremely ill but felt nervous since he’d cough into his hand and wipe it on his jacket - he didn't wash his hands either unfortunately - the reindeer heart was unique but too gamey for me Great service by server. Such a great and exquisite restaurant in Helsinki. Amazing food that is prepared with special ingredients and always in surprise menu. Sommelier is knowledgeable and will pair and provide great insights. Staff surely know what they are doing and will accommodate all needs including allergies. Gluten-free options were also something else than your normal restaurant. Iconic place and atmosphere is cozy and friendly.

We booked the restaurant due to a recommendation. The menu consisted of three options in different courses (starters, middle, main, dessert). Why 4 stars: the food is good/very good, not superspecial though. For my taste I struggled to find a option I like, there weren't any small appetizers (like bread etc.). We enjoyed the atmosphere though and would come back again.

Had the chef 3 course menu eur59. It was delicious. The only downside is that if one from table take the 3course menu, everyone else at the table must follow suit. However the dishes can still be adjusted according to individual dietary restrictions. There is no ‘no smoking’ section if sitting outside.

The service was very good. The mocktail (dark bloom) was nice. For food, we had the 4-course chef's surprise menu. They were all good. I just didn't like the pike as much as the other dishes. The sauce and veggies in the pike dish were good. The vegetarian dishes were nice. The dessert was also nice. The four star is relative to the other restaurants on the Michelin guide list that I've tried.

Had the 4-course menu. Everything was fresh and nicely presented — you could really tell the quality of the ingredients, with nothing hidden behind unnecessary twists. The malted bread and tartar with pickled chanterelles were definite highlights. The food was simple and elegant, though for my personal taste, some dishes could have used a bit more flavor. I think those who appreciate subtle, delicate tastes (maybe older diners) would really enjoy this place. Overall, a good experience, just not quite for me.

Excellent place with in my opinion Michelin star level orgasmic food at very reasonable prices. Also nice staff and goergous harbour views. I had the Beefsteak tartare and the scallops Carpaccio. Both were excellent and original in taste but I can extremely recommend the Scallop Carpaccio. It's the best thing I've eaten in Helsinki.

Mei Lin Sichuan in Helsinki is unassuming—plain decor, calm atmosphere, soft ethnic music—but the food speaks loud. I’m no expert in Sichuan cuisine, but the flavors here hit just right. A touch of heat, deep umami, and generous portions make it a solid lunch spot. The eggplant and tofu Sichuan style? A must. No pretense, just damn good food.

Located in a nice neighbourhood area. Pretty close to city centre. Walking distance from stockmann mall. We ordered a few dishes and all turned out to be disappointing. Just dont taste authentic chinese sichuan style. The pork they use for thr dish i ordered is the wrong part of the pork. And taste is off too. So not recommend if you like authentic Sichuan flavour.

Went here for dinner on a weekday without reservation and we were able to get a table right away. The taste was a proper Sichuan flavor and a good level of asian spiciness. We ordered the chicken chili congqing style, dumpling with chili oil and bakchoy with garlic. Dumplings and bakchoy were delicious!! The chicken however, it was a bit difficult to eat it as there were small pieces of bones everywhere. The flavor was good and tasty, but in the end we didn’t enjoy the chicken as much due to the small bones. The restaurant itself was pretty standard looking, nothing too fancy, leaning towards simple decor but it was totally fine. The service was good, the staff were friendly too.

The best Szechuan food I’ve ever had. It’s great for vegetarians, we had the eggplant, mapo tofu and udon noodles. Everything was incredible. The team is very kind to accommodate dietary requests and restrictions. Can’t wait to eat here again.

Enjoyed our dinner overall. A small mistake on the drink order and a rather long wait time to receive drinks but after that everything went well. We tried 5 different pastas, few starters and desserts. Food was good and as expected a bit better pasta than in your regular diner. Can still be improved to get closer to perfection but we left satisfied.

I've been to Locanda Scappi several times now and the food never disappoints. Especially their Cacio e Pepe ravioli with sage and butter sauce hits the spot. Personnel is very knowledgeable and friendly. Only slight improvement to be made is the appetizer/side prices - 17 euros for an appetizer and 9 euros for a side of essentially 8 pieces of potato is a bit over the top. Lovely food though!

Love the taste of everything pasta is amazing and the Tuna tartar is sexy and beef tartar is amazing. My favourite was the phone wire 😂 it’s delicious and tiramisu is amazing.

Surprisingly charming dumpling spot with great service Hill’s Dumplings really impressed us. From the outside you might not expect much, but inside it’s cozy, lively, and clearly popular — we were glad we booked ahead. We tried the pan-fried chicken dumplings, chicken satay dumplings, a pork bao bun, plus rice and salad on the side. Everything was delicious and exactly what you hope for from a place like this, in the best way possible. Portions were just right and the food came out quickly. Staff were incredibly friendly, spoke great English, and stayed attentive without pushing tips or hovering. It can get a bit busy and tables are close together, so expect a lively, medium-noise vibe rather than a quiet dinner. Overall, great food, amazing service, and definitely worth a visit.

Very comfy and nicely lit place with some excellent choices. Dumplings are crispy, well seasoned and the new style ones have excellent toppings on them. I'd skip the bao unless you want just dough, but I would definitely try the coconit tofu. Mocktails were nothing to write home about, but were not super expensive either. For the money (not the cheapest place) you get good offerings!

We booked hills for a large bachelorette party. We had different eating restrictions and allergies that we asked to be catered for, and hills delivered above and beyond!
