This is the most magnificent concert hall in the world and the Lahti Symphony Orchestra are HIGHLY underrated. A beautiful setting on the docks at Lake Vesijarvi in Lahti City, Finland. The only other concert hall with perhaps as good a setting is the Sydney Opera House in Sydney Harbour Australia, but I prefer Sibelius Hall. This was the view from the steps outside the hall on the evening of Thursday 17th May 2018.

Impressive timber structure for contemporary architecture.

It was made little bit funny way. I get it that it's an old factory but too small elevator's for so many people. Some of the exhibition was not do good, but other where really nice. Check my videos. You get better picture whit them. Nice museo shop. The permanent exhibition was surprisingly good.

I felt bad for the kids entering the museum. They had a video that portrayed some slimy humans depicting a disgusting orgy. I hope the kids weren't scarred for life. With all of the artists in the world, that was that artist they chose to display half of an entire floor? Whomever curates this museum, please get laid. Seriously- What the heck?!. Actually i will lower my rating to 2 stars just for wasting my time. The posters were cool though.

Great exhibit of the Lahti poster triennial. Just got a ticket for one exhibit and I'd recommend the same to have time to actually take in the art.

So much fun! Loved swimming here, sauna is lovely too. The pool is massive. Flotation devices available for you to use. Not too crowded.

The sports center is the strong point of the city of Lahti and has been home to several Nordic World Ski Championships. At the foot of the highest skijump structure there is a swimming pool that can be used in summer. It is also possible to visit the ski museum.

I had a great lunch, everything was super tasty and well made. I told about my nut allergy and they brought a special starter for me. I also got a super delicious crème brûlée as a nut free dessert (so happy)! Can highly recommend, service was friendly and top notch. Left with a happy mood 🥰

Very nice atmosphere, really cozy, good food and perfect service. I loved their deserts in combination with their whiskeys. What the waitress recommended was a perfect fit and they flavors of both had been amazing!

We were at the restaurant on 31.01.2025, booked a table for 19.30. The service was terrible. I ordered snails with toasted bread, the waitress brought it and dropped the bread on the table, then picked up the bread with dirty hands from the dirty table and put it on a plate and did not even apologize! She did not offer to replace the dish, she did not give a discount, this is completely unacceptable for a restaurant! The second course was duck. It was simply impossible to eat it, absolutely disgusted. My husband ate tartare and soup. The tartare had a stale taste, the soup was oversalted. They brought wine, but they poured one glass less than we ordered, because the bottle was empty, and they poured the second glass more than we ordered so as not to leave the rest in the bottle. Incredible food and environment. Super nice and attentive staff. In the pictures the food was all vegan. They accommodated the Menu dishes to my diet requirements and it was very tasty. Loved it and totally recommend it.

Very interesting place about the ski history of Finland. On of the most interesting part is activities such as virtual ski jumping and biathlon shooting (I really wanted to just to stay there :)) It would be great if audio guide will be added to the first floor as well. And the audio guide on the basement would be a bit shorter, because it's a bit difficult to consume such amount of information

Place with Wintersport history - we stopped there for lunch which was served as buffet and was delicious.

Very Modern museum, giving some history about skiing in general and of cause the finish sports. And a bit of fun in the ski jump simulator and shooting Simulator, nice idee. But from my point of view the entrance fee is a bit to high for the size of the museum, maybe for somebody who is more into Finnish winter sports legends it is more worth it.

The place is built and almost designed, by and for kids. It is so cool, enjoyable and large, from swings to castles to slings and slides. Went to Lahti, and Laune, because of the playground, and will go there again. Kids loved it.

Multiple, excellent playgrounda for children including a bike riding area set up like a small town. All free! Also has a selection of mini golf courses to play (paid for) and more.

I was totally amazed by the place. It can occupy your kid for an hour and even more. So many different games inside, kids also can crawl, climb and slide. There is some music as well. And it's totally free. Seems to be safe for children too. I would recommend this place to parents with kids 4+

We visited it in February and still enjoyed the museum and area around it a lot! It's a truly interesting museum because the place itself tells part of the story. I was almost lost for half an hour while trying to find the way to the museum. But overall, it seems nice and small. Has a souvenir shop with good products too.

This place is perfect for an afternoon coffee date. There is an outdoor seating area which has a view over the lake. The store offers daily changing menu of cakes which are all delicous. You can expect a queue on the weekend

Lovely place with a history of its own. Must visit place in Lahti. Most importantly prices are affordable. Service is really good. As a non-finnish speaker staff was immediately spoke in English with me.

We ate at this restaurant with family and friends and were received nicely. The staff was friendly and the interior looked nice and clean. Complimentary bread with olive oil was brought to the tables. After waiting for a while (30-40m) we received our orders which were lackluster at best, though family and friends seemed to at least have gotten more nicely prepared meals than myself. I ordered the salmon pasta (23€) and was served what seemed to be a child's portion of food with admittedly good tasting sauce and well cooked pasta, but left unsatisfied because of the small amount of food and the bitter tasting, burnt 1-2 bites of actual salmon that were served with the pasta. What I ordered didn't match up with what was delivered. Instead of a dish full of tasty salmon, as the name suggests, I got what felt like basic tomato sauce pasta with a tiny piece of salmon placed - quite literally - on top as an afterthought and marketed as something it simply is not. Another thing I immediately noticed was the smell of burnt food coming from the kitchen while leaving. A small saving grace during my visit were the friendly, readily available staff. In summary: The staff is nice, but the food is too expensive, served in small portions, and - at least in my case - not very well prepared. Restaurant also charges for water.

This was a wonderful find after being in Lahti for the World half Ironman championship. Delicious food, excellent presentation and atmosphere and the best part- Ville our wonderful waiter who took great care of us and even gave our youngest member a wonderful treat he could wake up to after snoozing through dinner! Nice chatting with Ville and thank you for making us feel very welcome in Lahti, Finland as out of country visitors.

Trattoria offers traditional Italian cousine. The food is very well made and delicious, good wines and very fast and friendly service. Very good restaurant.

The place is cozy and has a nice atmosphere and the service is fine. The only issue i had was i exp cree Italian style pizza (cue Neopolitan pizza) it was very different and not really my style. I didn't try the other items.

Nice decor, but the service was very bad. We sat down at 7.30 and left at 22.00. The waiter was not good, the salad had elements that were dreadful and charged on the bill even after complaining, and they double charged us a started that was asked to be shared. The rest of the group was anxious to have their food served at 9.30 after waiting for an 1.30h after ordering. Food was ok.

The Brilliant Alvar Alto

Truly, the house of God is surrounded by wonderful and welcoming people.

Compact but beautiful geometrical forms masterfully crafted by Alvar Aalto, highly contextual to its surroundings - the park, the hill and the street. The architectural models and the photos at the basement reveal its process.

That’s one of the work of the great Finnish designer Alvar Aalto. Outside it is a particular church, but inside it is completely different from other churches. It is minimal, clean and it is a triumph of wood. Unfortunately it is not publicized in lahti, as the City Hall of Eero Saarinen

Good atmosphere during service. I personally attended Sunday mess and the church was really crowded. Amazing piece of architecture by best Finnish designer Alvar Aalto.

A small museum, part of exhibition is permanent, part is changing from time to time. Just a shame they don't have english subscription for the last one. It takes you around 45 minutes to go through.

Calling all Foodies: Def add this place to your list of things to do while in Lahti! Food! Hands down, 5 stars; Satisfies my intense spicy food cravings! Solid wine pour and great beer selection. Music beckons vacay mode and great start to a party night. Gave it a 4-star rating due to lower quality service (perhaps due to not having tip culture.)

5 star food and staff. It is connected to the hotel next door but doesn’t feel like hotel food. Ask your server for suggestions, everything is delicious. It is reasonably priced and a great option if you want a quick meal.

Took over an hour to get our food, even with a table reservation and the place being seemingly half empty. The food was great though and the place has a really good and unique vibe. One thing that stood out was the payment terminal asking if we wanted to leave a tip. It's super uncomfortable for the guests... Are the waiters not being paid enough? Tipping culture has no place in Finland.

A large square in the center of Lahti, sometimes hosting street markets and at Christmas Santa Claus Village.

There is not much you can ask from a market square and this fills all of them. Location wise, central and food wise, enough.

What I'm struggling with, is the price of such a small collection, and with very little information about their history. I would appreciate more informative signs to read. The bikes are unique, but an entrance fee of 12 Euros makes it somewhat questionable. It's not out of this world and staff mimics American culture. Good music.

Good place to eat. Asked what they recommend and how spicy i can handle. An burger with some fried chips. They should close at 20:00 a clock. So a should order fast, so i did and the burger was ready vast.

Solid lunch place for the money. Salmon meal was 14€ with coffee/tea, fruits, geisha, bread and salad.

Very decent food. Complements to the chef. Service was slow which is the usual in Finland. They had a free bread table that helped to ease the suffering.

The restaurant is described as “Italian” and there was nothing about the taste of the food that said “Italian” to me. The staff is lovely and the restaurant has a cozy ambiance, however the items specifically ordered did not make for a pleasant eating experience. My garlic chicken was very dry and did not have the flavor of garlic at all. My bland potatoes had to be smothered with a parmesan mayonnaise “sauce,” next to my sad, soggy lettuce which seemed an unnecessary garnish. I would recommend exploring different Malbec wines than the one offered, which lacked personality. Side note: WHY is there a hamburger on the menu? There are so many great Italian dishes to satisfy a palate. I’m very glad to see the development of a diverse dining culture in Lahti, but there is still some work to be done in bringing the flavor that comes with such a culture.

We attended an official event (Christmas Lunch) at the venue. The location offers excellent amenities, including a nearby ski resort and golf course. The services provided were also exceptional.

Messilä is really good for what it is; I’ve been each year for 4 years now. Only 1h20 mins driving from Espoo and a rather large hill with 5-6 runs and a skate park and small slopes for beginners. All the runs have lifts back to the top, and the snow last weekend was fantastic. There are small areas to sit around a fire and warm up, and also a place to buy some drink and snacks. Rental of everything is available - I paid 31€ for helmet boots and a board for 3 hours which I think is decent. Lift pass was 40€. A perfect place to come with beginners, families, or just to have some fun on the snow even if you board/ski well. No challenging runs and the longest is 900m, but as said it is very good for what it is. Plenty of parking available

Great! One of the best Skiing centers in Finland! Well equipped, good Skiing school, nice lake views. All is expensive...but that is normal in Finland.

Great place in for the winter sport, nearest big winter sport place from Helsinki about 1,5 hours drive.

Nice and well maintained slopes. Staff was very helpful! Not too crowded at that time (early March) and there are slopes for all levels. Only little downside if you are a beginner: you need to down a red slope in order to leave (not too hard but could be uncomfortable depending on your level).

Nice Skiresort for daytrips. Also not too expensive. PS: It is on the highest hill of southern Finland 😉

Although the fountain smells bad right now from being empty, it is a beautiful park and has many geese! I'm normally the person to get attacked by geese but these were very nice and minded their own business. There were many many many geese but the park was still very clean.

Lahti A Beautiful place to be around!

Not the best fountain I've seen. And it's not "musical" as fountain action is completely disconnected from the music. It is just a random fountain fluctuations with some music in background. The fountain itself is getting old and definitely needs some repair. Streams of water are uneven here and there, some of the sprinklers make odd noise, etc.

Lahti Harbour is one of the nice places to visit in Lahti irrespective of whether its summer or winter, especailly in Summer time you see people enjoying their ice-cream, drinks or coffee in the open space decks around the Harbour. You can go for a nice walk along the harbour, or nearby forest which is a bit uphill or walk along the pikkuvesi park nearby. From the Harbour you can also take boat trip to nearby areas like Messilä beach etc. There are many restaurants open in summer where you can enjoy your meals.

I love the harbour area in Lahti. There are nice cafés and terraces and it's just nice to walk around. In the nearby hill Lanunpuisto you find some art in the nature and you can stroll around the little Vesijärvi.

In summer we are there 2 3 time a week for a coffee. Lovely place to be in. You can come here to walk or to eat as there are many boat restaurants. Coffe shop are also good with the sea view.

An excellent place to visit. These unique wines are very high quality, well-balanced and the taste is absolutely awesome. Most likely you haven't tasted anything like this before. It shows that Paula and David are putting a lots of effort to make experience complete. The story itself is a worth telling. I also recommend to eat some food, all ingredients are local and fresh. Highly recommended.

We came here for wine tasting with a group of friends. It is a fantastic & friendly family owned winery. They are utilizing Finnish and local incredients in a very creative way. Very nice flavours and high quality!

Coming with low expectations, we were taken aback by the quality of the wine produced here. It’s actually good! Had to buy a couple of bottles to take back home. Also the cheese plate served with the wine tasting package was a great match. Fully recommend.

The Lahti town hall might be one of the city‘s most remarkable landmarks. You can see the tower from different parts of the city. I only passed by on an evening walk. It. Is a pretty red bricks building.
