Shopping
Gracechurch Shopping Centre is a down-to-earth destination located in Sutton's town center, offering a wide array of big-brand retailers, local gems, and delightful cafes and restaurants. The newly refurbished center provides a clean and inviting environment for visitors to browse shops or catch the latest Hollywood blockbusters at Empire Cinema. With its diverse range of eateries and premier services like personal shopping and banking, Gracechurch Shopping Centre caters to various tastes and needs.
Love it great to shop
MaXine L — Google review
Lived in Sutton for most of my life. Gracefully was a lovely shopping centre. Now it's like a ghost town with more shops shut than open, so very sad. Great if you want to drink coffee or eat. Looking forward to when they entice some of the bigger shops back with 2 massive sites still empty. Always hoping that something like Primark would boost the town and other shops would benefit from increased footfall.
Julie M — Google review
Stopped by Gracechurch Shopping Centre a couple of times recently, but sadly it didn’t leave much of an impression. The 1960s architecture gives it a dated feel, and the atmosphere isn’t particularly inviting. Many of the shops I’d normally use have closed or moved on, which makes the experience feel a bit hollow. It’s fine for a quick pop-in if you’re nearby, but not somewhere I’d go out of my way to visit.
Eva L — Google review
Gloucester shopping centre is an amazing collection of retailers you won't find in most cities and towns now. I haven't spent so much money and time,4hrs! at the shops in ages,it was a great experience.
Isobella H — Google review
Once a thriving shopping center, Grace church centre has become another place of closing/closed shops, larger retailers have gone and there are more coffee shops competing with each other. Redevelopment is beginning, with apartments and offices above retail is the forward thinking. Independent shops appear, and are a welcome sight, but how do they survive in this low footfall area? Some don't stay long. Waterstones, Boots, Specsavers, Nationwide BS, House of Fraser, H&M, WHSmith are the main stays, and carparking is ample and average price. Aldi is the busiest shop today. A few years may bring a new shopping experience
Susan W — Google review
It's not a bad place to shop the car park entry a bit daunting as it is a spiral driveway to parking spaces. There seems to be a good range of shops but it was quiet that maybe due to time of day. A good range of shops in the centre and parade. It was clean bright place to be. They had a beach area that was good for the kids to play in with buckets spades and deck chairs for adults.
JeffnDee ( — Google review
a bit sad looking as many empty shops. it is clean and tidy place but overrun by school kids toilet is clean. they often do events like food fair. house of Fraser looks very boring as not much to get for presents. they do have cafe.
Eileen H — Google review
This shopping centre is now so run down and a disgrace to The Royal Town. So many empty shops and boarded up frontages. Avoid and go to Lichfield or Tamworth.

The Coffin Works, located in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter, is a unique museum that offers a glimpse into the history of coffin making. Once a thriving firm established by the Newman Brothers in 1882, it now stands as a museum filled with original stock and tools from its heyday. Visitors can experience the restored machinery and witness firsthand how exquisite coffin furniture was crafted for notable funerals throughout history.
It may seem strange and macabre to go to this but it isn't at all. It's more about the manufacturing process and the machines used. The volunteers are all really helpful and informative. I thought I would be in and out in 15 minutes but they made it so interesting I was there for a hour. It is a well preserved factory showing the history of one of the great manufscturing companies that used to be in Birmingham.
Hersha C — Google review
An amazing place to visit. Be sure to check it out. The Coffin Museum staff are very professional and friendly. After a while, I felt like I'd known these people for a long time. We also recommend it for the incredible knowledge. We were with children, and they had fun too, especially my little historian.
Paulina T — Google review
Excellent tour! Robin was a fantastic guide, really knowledgeable and full of fascinating facts. It was amazing to learn how this old Jewellery Quarter firm operated day to day, producing some of the world’s finest coffin furniture, including fittings for the funerals of Winston Churchill, Princess Diana, and the Queen Mother.
Nicky O — Google review
A good insight into the past and working life, presented through stories and anecdotes. Because of the guide's Birmingham accent, we didn't catch everything (we are German).
Yllen — Google review
Wonderful afternoon exploring this museum. Absolute time capsule within Birmingham telling the story of how coffins were made, decorated and shrouds made. An absolute must for any taphophile. Seeing the sewing machines, working press and shrouds was great however the smaller details really touched home. The worn wooden floor where years of workers tread. The seats with indents of women who sat for years sewing shrouds. The daily tea orders noted down. The glasses and shoes in the office. The owner, staff and volunteers are all friendly welcoming and knowledgeable. Small cafe was lovely with a variety of drinks and snacks.
Kerry L — Google review
What a fabulous hidden gem ! Really interesting place not quite what I thought it was even better. Our guide Andy was fantastic light hearted approach lots of lovely bits of detail but still very informative. Highly recommend this place an hour & a half well spent. It’s places like this that need patronising they’re an amazing part of our social history 👍😊

I had an enjoyable couple of hours at this museum with an informative tour from Andy and a cuppa in the cafe during which I spoke to a number of the lovely staff. This place is an interesting visit for an aspect of Birmingham and British history but the vibe is what makes it, everyone is friendly, helpful and seems genuinely happy to be there. It's rare to come across a place with such a vibe so keep it up and thanks for the hospitality!
Evan L — Google review
A thoroughly enjoyable and illuminating experience. We decided to take one of the tours with a guide so discovered a lot. Having said that, my only suggestion would be to allow those on a paid tour to be able to return into the building again, after the tour finishes, as there was no chance to actually absorb everything that was going on in some of the rooms, especially those with detailed panels that we could not read. So it felt like we could only learn from the guide but not have a chance to really discover everything this wonderful place offers.

Sutton Park is a sprawling 2000-acre parkland featuring bike and bridle paths, as well as serene lakes, making it an ideal destination for walking, jogging, cycling, and angling. With a rich history dating back to the medieval era when it was under royal ownership and used as a deer park by Norman kings, Sutton Park offers not only natural beauty but also historical significance.
Went for a 5 K jog on the recommendation of local friends. Wonderful place in the sun. Mostly tarmac paths with some gravel ones. Watch out for the cows. I have heard that there are ponies as well. Parking is free at the moment. However, where I parked, I needed to be aware of potholes in the parking areas. One nasty one on the narrow entrance road. But don't let that put you off. Get there and enjoy it in the sun.
Craig T — Google review
It’s a really beautiful park. Honestly, anyone who visits and gets a chance to try the grilled calamari here will find it worth it. The atmosphere is incredible, and it’s also right by the lake, which adds to the charm. It’s a very scenic spot. There’s a restaurant nearby in case anyone gets hungry, and overall, the park is huge. Behind it, there’s also a forest — as you can probably tell from the photo — where you might feel like you could get lost, but in reality, it’s easy to find your way back. The landscape is stunning and perfect for anyone who’s craving a bit of adventure. If I had to point out something negative, it would be because of animals like cows and others roaming around, which means there’s quite a lot of droppings scattered around. I think it needs to be cleaned more regularly so the park can reach its full potential. Even so, if you live nearby, it’s a great place to visit every weekend, especially since options are limited. In general, it just needs a bit of cleaning — maybe during the week. But overall, it’s a wonderful place to visit
Giorgos K — Google review
It's a very extensive park. The park is huge and there's a chance you can definitely get lost if you go off the main paths, but there is some signage. Nevertheless, it's a very beautiful park and great for exploring and getting in touch with nature. There was some decent foliage, but I found most off the beaten paths. Managed to capture a few photos on my visit.

I've been coming to Sutton Park for years with it being local to me. Over the last few months I've started getting keen in Wildlife Photography particularly birds. Pictured are some of the birds/wildlife I've seen on my walks recently. There have been many more. Listed are, Mandarin Duck, Blackcap, Song Thrush, Robin, Buzzard. I have seen many other species of birds, although not photographed yet

The best and highlight of my trip to Birmingham! The park is so beautiful and peaceful, it has plenty of entrances, has cows grazing and has a few cafe and restaurants in the park itself.
Bleubirdy99 — Google review
So much to see here, you can take a different direction and take in all the new sights. Plus there is kids parks, ice cream vans and plenty of parking around ❤️
Beth L — Google review
Kind of stumbled on the nature reserve park while trying to locate another park and ended up loving it. Got to see some ponies which was my first time seeing them and learnt a bit of the British history as at the 18th century and how 'Bowers' were constructed as channels to entice ducks for shooting. It’s a perfect place for hiking and jogging. I almost got lost tho😅 The land space is quite massive. Walked on a river bed which was already dried, knew from the pebbles. Totally enjoyed the walk and kicking pebbles as I went

Such a cute place! We want to go back to sit in the restaurant by the water edge.

The Pen Museum in West Midlands offers an exhibition and demonstrations of pen-making, writing equipment, accessories, and calligraphy. It's a family-friendly attraction with various activities for kids in the area. The museum showcases an impressive collection of pens from around the world, making it a dream destination for pen enthusiasts. Additionally, visitors can explore hands-on displays on science and technology at the nearby Thinktank - Birmingham Science Museum located at Millennium Point.
Great day out for my birthday! We went not expecting much but it was a lovely small museum. We were able to make our own pen nibs included in the price of the ticket and we're gifted another functional one to take home. The shop had pens your could buy at very reasonable prices. Great for older and younger kids. 50% discount for art fund members (this is only £10 a year as a student)!!
Lily S — Google review
This is a must-see for any visitor to Birmingham. It's a modest but seriously good museum, preserving an aspect of Birmingham's (and indeed British) history that is not well known. The displays of pen nibs illustrating the history of their manufacture in Birmingham are fascinating by themselves. But I really enjoyed the second room with the film and the hands-on demonstration of how to make a nib. The gentlemen who guided us through the process was so knowledgeable, it was like stepping back 100 years. The third room where you can try handwriting and use typewriters and office calculators. The volunteers were more than happy to answer our questions.
Richard L — Google review
A fantastic little museum. 3 rooms packed with lots to see. Our guide, demonstrating the presses was incredibly knowledgeable. Some of the information presented was mind-blowing: how can someone make 28,000 nib blanks in a day?!? A multi-storey car is a few minutes' walk away, and the Metro station just a little further. Definitely worth a visit. Recommended. The little souvenir was a nice touch.
MartinR — Google review
Small organised museum. Friendly staff! When you renter the museum it looks so small however they have 2 more rooms behind. So don’t worry 😉 Entrance fee is 6 in google , it’s 8,5 for adults !!! Will attach the picture If you are interested to pens 🖊️ this will be a great place to visit ! You will make your own pen nib in one of the room, one of the staff will help you out ! Have fun !

Very interesting museum showcasing some of Birminghams heritage of Birmingham and the Jewellery quarter. Interactive talk showing how the machines were made and very knowledgeable staff. Great for Children.
Mark L — Google review
This is a small and specialised museum, lots of displays of pen nibs etc, but the best bit by far was see how a nib is made and having a go. Great explanation by our guide. Small shop, but it does sell nibs etc
David F — Google review
Completely charming. A very kind volunteer helped us press out a pen nib in the workshop and answered all our questions about this interesting slice of Birmingham history. It's more hands on than you might imagine, and the kids enjoyed it too. We only had an hour and could have spent longer reading everything in detail, but had to spend a few minutes in their beguiling shop before closing time.
Bridget C — Google review
Amazing museum which worth visiting. Was much more than I expected. lots to learn about the pen industry history...how it was made and how important the pen factory been. There was a very interesting presentation the stages of making pen nibs from zero to finishing. There were lots to veiw, learn and enjoy. The place is so much worth visiting. This visit made my day.

Aston Hall is a stunning Jacobean-style mansion located in Birmingham, UK. Built in 1635, it boasts period rooms that offer a glimpse into the past and has hosted famous visitors like King Charles I. The hall also bears partial damage from the English Civil War. Surrounding the mansion are scenic gardens perfect for leisurely strolls. Additionally, occasional special events are held on the grounds, making it an engaging destination for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
It's hard to believe this beautiful, serene place is only an eight minute train ride from Birmingham New Street. Its a great historical building; each of the rooms look stunning and the gardens are well cultivated and maintained. I was here on a hot summer Saturday afternoon (the last weekend of June)., and was surprised it wasn't very busy. Yes, there were other visitors around, but it never felt crowded. Maybe the £10 admission fee is off-putting to some? The visit here was definitely worthwhile and felt like a tranquil oasis from the crowded Birmingham city centre. The volunteers are very knowledgably of the building's history and the gardens are a great place to relax after touring the rooms withing the grand hall.

Aston Hall was our wedding venue. It's a fantastic building, full of character and wonderful spaces. While booking was a bit of a faff, the staff on the day were excellent and did everything to make the event run smoothly while still being great fun, including accommodating a harpist and two bands. We had canapes on site that were also superb. If you're looking for somewhere a little different, Aston Hall is highly recommended.
Jonathan J — Google review
We had the best time at Aston Hall. We didn’t really know what to expect but ended up having an informative and engaging private tour of the entire hall filled with detailed knowledge, anecdotes and even ghost stories. Would thoroughly recommend. Thanks Matthew!

Castle Bromwich Hall & Gardens Trust is a 10-acre walled garden with over 600 species of plants and a holly maze. The garden is open from 10:30am to 4:00pm on Wednesdays, and admission is free.
We visited last week as a family of 6 and it cost us just over £20 for 2 adults and 3 children, under 5's free. Most national trusts offer a discounted family pass, perhaps this could be introduced to make it more affordable. The gardens are beautiful and very well kept, historic buildings have a lot of interesting information, volunteers are friendly and approachable and doing a fab job at maintaining the place. I would say it's a hidden gem in the middle of Castle Bromwich. My children loved the play areas and the archery lawn was perfect for them to run up and down on.

Lovely morning out, with teenager and oap in tow! Fair entrance pricing and made even better with 2 for 1 deal as we hold a National Trust card, even though it isn't NT. Nice autumn day to stroll through the gardens. Lovely size for what we were wanting, impressive considering volunteer ran. Good Holly maze, and plenty of nice features to admire, box hedges, walled garden, greenhouse, etc. A fabulous cafe offering really good value and delicious cakes, coffees, toasties, etc. A shop offering homemade jams, chutney, cards, books etc. All in all a lovely visit, and worth going to..would be keen to revisit in the spring/summer.
John T — Google review
Lovely place with a well maintained garden and plenty of benches to sit on and enjoy the views and weather. Small cafe if you fancy a drink and also two toilet facilities. Some information around the grounds on the history of the space and some of the aspects of the grounds and overall, I would recommend to anyone who enjoys beautiful gardens and a little bit of history to.

Nosheen M — Google review
Garden must have been fantastic in it's heyday but looking rather sad now, not helped by the very dry weather. Some interesting features but the plants were nothing special and I assumed they just don't have enough volunteers or funding to do it as well as it deserves.
Jane — Google review
First time visiting with 2 kids. Nicely filled 2 hours and could have stayed longer. Not a particularly big site but lots of little areas of interest for kids and plenty of shade. Flowers looked a little tired from the hot dry spell we have experienced. Cafe was reasonably priced, although be warned, tea is by the mug (not pot) and gets made up for you. Would definitely come here again if we lived a little closer.

I came to Castle Bromwich hall for my 50th birthday, almost 6 yrs ago. It was just at start of covid & we came for afternoon tea. It was absolutely AMAZING, with lovely staff & the food was yummy. Sadly I never for a second thought it was going to be the last time I saw my beautiful Mum as I lost her less than a week later, only 17months after my amazing Dad, & only 9 months after my dear brother in law. After losing Mum I also lost 12 friends that same year too. I was so glad I had a lovely time with my family & a long time friend who was also 50 3 days before so I invited her to come & share my "party". Thankyou to all the staff who were on then & made it a wonderful time. 17 / 03 / 2020 😪😪😪

Wyndley Leisure Centre, located in Sutton Coldfield, offers a wide range of facilities for fitness and recreation. The center features a 25m pool, teaching pool, and a seating area for parents to watch swimming lessons. The well-maintained gym provides various classes catering to different interests and fitness levels. Visitors can enjoy the clean and spacious pool area suitable for serious swimmers as well as families.
Roller Disco on Saturdays 15:30pm - 16:30pm Average hall size but makes up with the staff teaching the public. From slalom (going in and out of cones) to party games like limbo It’s base indoors ( the badminton court) and with the lights off; has a great party feel with the disco lights on. Skaters change directions every 10/20mins to skate and the Marshalls skate along helping those that require tweaking their skating skills. For friendliness and family atmosphere 10/10

Fabulous staff at Wyndley. Always very courteous, helpful and knowledgeable. However, the two middle toilets in the womens toilet upstairs don't always flush. Needs looking at. Air con not sufficient and often not working properly. Leaks through ceilings after rainfall. It's not safe to have buckets in the studios, especially whilst classes are on.
Anne L — Google review
Clean and tidy facilities and well worth the money. Pools are nice and great for families. My son loves it. We go every other sunday. Never as busy as some pools we've been to on a weekend and thats why we like it so much
GSA1250 — Google review
The gym is great, facilities aplenty, staff really friendly and the gym is clean. However I would completely avoid between the times of 3pm and 6pm as its full of kids from the local school & 6th form. Getting on machines is a nightmare. Having to wait for kids who are just there for the 'gram' is frustrating. I just want to get in, do my set and go home, so it's annoying to have to wait for someone who is sat on a machine on their phone taking selfies. Not everyone is approachable enough to ask them to politely get off. Other gyms have signs up and notes on the equipment, maybe this is something Wyndley should consider doing.
Laura P — Google review
Great staff. A place to get active and socialise. Loads of fitness classes to enjoy. Stretch classes and yoga highly recommended. The gym is very spacious and as loads of equipment quiet in the day time. Loads of things for kid to do And there's a Costa too . For the catch up chat after your all worked out .
Becky S — Google review
I love the gym, everything you need over 2 floors. Personal trainers are lovely. The only thing that lets it down is the beactive times between 11 and 12, it gets so busy you can't get on anything, as a paying member this is incredibly frustrating. The times have been changed 3 times now due to non paying members complaining and moaning because it doesn't fit in with their day.

We use the skate park next to the swimming pool. My 5 year old loves it 🛴🫶

Sutton Arts Theatre is a charming venue that presents a range of captivating performances. The musical comedy, crafted by Stephen Sondheim and adapted from George Furth's book, explores the complexities of love and relationships in New York during the early 1990s. Running from Tuesday, May 31 to Saturday, June 4, this theater offers shows worth watching.
Absolutely stunning and moving performance of “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time”. Maxim Adderley was an amazing star! First time at Sutton Arts Centre and will certainly be back.

Went yesterday with my partner for Halloween to see Wait Until Dark, bear in mind, it was both mine and his first time seeing this production ever -- that being said I was left on the edge of my seat (quite literally it was a good thing no one was sat in front of me as I was fully leant forward 😂) the way a small cast managed to play such a large variety of characters stunned me, as did the theatres use of visual and audio effects. I was highly invested in the performance and managed to memorise the plot to tell my mother what happened (which is impressive considering I am AWFUL at following things) -- all in all I'd recommend going to this theatre and giving one of their shows a watch as the atmosphere and value for money are both amazing. Thank you for the brilliant show 👏👏

This is a really sweet, intimate theatre. The seats are well raked and comfortable. The stage is large for a relatively small venue. The productions are all staged by amateurs, but the standard is extremely high. They even manage to stage full scale musicals and pantomimes with a live band! There is a good bar - very reasonably priced - with plenty of seating. All the staff are volunteers. Very friendly. Highly recommend. The only downside is the parking, which is in a pay and display carpark about 100 metres away.

Lovely little theatre . Very reasonable priced. But the last few plays have not been to there usual standard. It's a shame because the actors are top class. I think it speaks for itself as there where very few people in there. Please who ever is choosing the plays STOP. INSTATE THE ONE WJO CHOOSE THE FANTASTIC ONES WE CAME TO LOVE

A small local theatre near Sutyon Coldfield town centre. I've now joined as a member and taken the offer to attend every performance. £20 pa membership, £15 over 60's, £60 to attend all shows. The standard of the production - acting, scenery etc is excellent . Great value and an interesting mix of plays. There's a bar and hot drinks also served.

Lovely little theatre. Staff very welcoming. Reasonable leg room in seat and good view of the stage. Just been to see Funny Girl. The show was excellent. I would definitely recommend.

Lovely little theatre. We've been four times now and had such a good evening. The most unforgettable show though was the Dick Whittington panto... Was funny, well acted and just all round superb. Looking forward to the next visit. We much prefer this theatre to the bigger ones. The bar is very well priced too as are the snacks so all around its a winner.

Art museum
Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery is located in a historic Victorian building that has been a prominent feature of the city since 1885. The museum boasts an extensive collection, including the renowned Pre-Raphaelite collection with over 2,000 remarkable pieces such as oil paintings, tapestries, stained glass, and ceramics by celebrated artists like Edward Burne-Jones and William Morris. Additionally, visitors can explore artifacts like the Staffordshire hoard.
Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery is truly a gem in the heart of the city. The building itself is stunning, blending history and architecture beautifully. Inside, the galleries are well-curated with a wonderful variety of exhibitions, from classical art to fascinating historical collections. Everything is laid out thoughtfully, making it easy to explore and enjoy at your own pace. The atmosphere is calm and inspiring, perfect for spending a few hours appreciating culture and history. The staff are welcoming and knowledgeable, always ready to guide or answer questions, which really adds to the overall experience. The museum is also very well maintained, with clean facilities and comfortable spaces to sit and take it all in. What I loved most was how the museum offers something for everyone – whether you’re interested in art, history, or just looking for a peaceful and enriching day out. It’s a place that makes you appreciate the heritage of Birmingham while also connecting you with global culture. A must-visit for anyone in the city!
Zeeshan A — Google review
The building is really mislabeled. There’s one room with Art which may have 20 canvases. One of them is quite a nice place but otherwise if you’re coming for Art, you’re not going to find anything that you want. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a museum with a great coverage of the history of Birmingham, the top floor of the building has a very excellent series of exhibits on this topic. That’s not why I came here, but I did enjoy it quite a lot. If you have kids, there’s a dinosaur exhibit on the lower floor. I think it’s 9 pounds for adults and free for kids. Otherwise, the museum is free. There’s a nice coffee shop.
Lon W — Google review
The museum was outstanding. Very clean, staff were very knowledgeable and friendly, and very considerate when providing assistance, especially to those with additional support needs. There's portable chairs behind the doors, a great personal touch when you're spending a few hours in there. I visited from Manchester to see the Ozzy Osbourne exhibition, the Made In Birmingham exhibition, and paid in to see Giants whilst I was there. Highly recommend and will be returning in the future. Gift shop was great, with lots of different quirky items connected to the exhibitions.

really great place, went for the ozzy osbourne stuff but i was pleasantly surprised by the rest of the displays. I like how everything in the museum is relevant to Birmingham or England. I felt like i got to learn tge place’s history. Everything was really informative, interactiv, and the whole experience was beautiful.

Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery is a true gem in the city! The museum offers a wonderful mix of art, history, and culture, with something to interest everyone. The galleries are beautifully curated, featuring impressive fine art collections, fascinating local history exhibits, and world-class pieces like the Pre-Raphaelite paintings. The building itself is magnificent, with stunning architecture that adds to the experience. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, always ready to share insights or help guide you through the exhibits. It’s a great place to spend a few hours learning, relaxing, and being inspired — a must-visit destination for anyone coming to Birmingham.

Lovely gallery! Lovely and huge and lots of things to see in there aswell as a lovely and spacious cafe, bigger than the cafe in my local gallery!!! I enjoyed my pumpkin spice latte that I had in the cafe it tasted just like the one at Starbucks, but better than Starbucks 👌🏻 and the Ozzy Osbourne exhibiton that's on at the moment is fab 🖼️! I will be back! We both loved the gallery with a passion 😊

Really interesting place to visit. Lots of variety in terms of exhibits and things to do. Plenty for people of all ages. The Staffordshire Hoard is a great section and displayed excellently.
Ian C — Google review
I came here many years ago. Back in the days when they had a museum full of art. Now there's very little but there was a nice section on the history of Birmingham. As much as that was a nice touch and it being free, it felt like there was so little to see. There's the classic over prices gift shop and coffee shop inside. But you'll not spend long in here any more sadly. Hope you enjoy it more than I did. Enjoy.

Library
Library of Birmingham is a modern, 31,000-square-meter building located in the heart of the city. Opened in 2013, it stands out with its unique exterior resembling a wedding cake. The library features 10 floors connected by elevators and escalators. At the top, visitors can explore The Shakespeare Memorial room, a historic wood-paneled space from the old library that is now available for events like weddings.
Library of Birmingham – Modern, Inspiring, and Full of Character The Library of Birmingham is one of the city’s most stunning landmarks, combining modern architecture with a peaceful atmosphere for reading and learning. The terrace gardens and rooftop views are must-sees — perfect for relaxing or taking photos of the skyline. Inside, there’s a great mix of study spaces, archives, and exhibitions, with the Shakespeare Memorial Room being a real highlight. It can get busy and the layout takes a little getting used to, but the staff are friendly and the space feels welcoming to everyone. A true gem in the heart of Birmingham — ideal for book lovers, students, and anyone looking for quiet inspiration.
Michael K — Google review
The relatively new library is architecturally beautiful but I’m knocking off a point because the Library closed its cafe. When you send long spells in a library it’s helpful to be able to get a drink. In the British Library there are about four or five cafes on site which enables you to work, take a comfort break and return to researching or studying. Not sure why the second city’s main public library doesn’t have this important feature. I also think the business section could do with more resources and event to support businesses and business start up. That said, staff are helpful and professional. It’s easy to take out or renew memberships. I love the light and airy space on each floor and the statement elevators. The roof top garden is beautiful and a great amenity space on a warm day for us to catch up on phone calls. Again I may have remained there if I could have gotten a drink. Instead we leaf after two hours just to get refreshments.

I visited the Library of Birmingham today. Last year, there was a lovely water feature just outside the library — a great spot where kids could play and cool off. I checked several times this year, but unfortunately, it hasn’t been turned on at all, which was a bit disappointing. That said, I did discover a small children’s play area at the lower level of the library that I hadn’t seen before. It includes sand, water, wooden toys, and natural materials — a very fun and creative space for children to enjoy. Great to see the library offering more for little ones, but I really hope the water feature returns soon!
Bahareh M — Google review
The largest public library in the UK, Birmingham library is a great place to study. They have a large selection of books- academic, fiction and non-fiction self help books. You can also listen to audio books if you have a membership of the library which is relatively easy to get. The staff is always helpful with information relating to books and other related topics. You can find and reserve a book online on their site. They will find the book in their and other libraries and keep the book aside for you for a period of time. Having a cafe would be good given that you’d want to take a break from studying. Nevertheless it’s a beautiful place and a must visit from those outside the city. The balcony gives an amazing view of the city. 💖
Ahzam F — Google review
I recently visited the Library of Birmingham and had a brilliant experience from start to finish. The building itself is striking and modern, and inside it feels open, bright and welcoming. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the spaces are spotless and well organised, whether you’re looking to read, study, or simply explore. One of the absolute highlights is the outdoor terrace and viewing platform at the top. The view across Birmingham is incredible — you can see right over the city skyline, including Centenary Square, the canals, and some of the landmark buildings that make the city so unique. It’s a peaceful spot that really shows off how impressive Birmingham looks from above. Overall, the Library of Birmingham is a fantastic place to visit. Whether you’re a regular reader, a student, or just someone exploring the city, it’s well worth the trip — especially for the view from the top.
Randeep — Google review
This library is a wonderful addition to central Birmingham. It has many rooms all of varying sizes with many spaces for study, reading or simply relaxing. It had a vibrant feel and it was good to see people using its facilties. There were also some wonderful views of the city from a number of vantage points located on the higher floors of the building, and I particularly liked the secret garden on the 7th floor. The only two gripes for me were the initial escalators on ground floor (very dangerous) and the lack of a restaurant or cafe.
Monty — Google review
Worth a visit just to ride the escalators and enjoy the sunshine out on the terrace (level 4) or the secret garden (level 7). Elevators are available but were not functioning today, but the 90 step climb to level 7 for the secret garden was worth it. Great views over the city and delightful spaces to sit. And of course they have an enormous collection of books, media, maps and more. Such a cool space with the escalators going back and forth across a large central open space.
Jamie O — Google review
The library is beautiful! As a tourist, it is a wonderful place for anyone coming to Birmingham. On the top 2 floors, there is a beautiful terrace with lots of flowers and benches to sit on. There is an exhibition that explains the history of the library. I recommend taking the elevator up and turn down by the escalators. As a student, it is a great place to study, do your homework, it has internet, very private spaces, you can get your membership card to request books. It is a great place for group study or even to read a book.

Located in Birmingham, UK, Symphony Hall is a renowned concert venue known for its exceptional acoustics and striking architectural design. As the home of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, it offers a diverse program featuring classical, jazz, folk, rock, and pop concerts. Situated at the heart of Birmingham's bustling city center on Broad St., it provides an unforgettable musical experience amidst a vibrant urban setting.
I recently went to see Symphonic Queen with my friend Lisa at Symphony Hall and the entire experience from when we walked in to when we left was fantastic. We were able to collect our tickets from the box office speedily, enjoying a reasonably priced drink at one of the many bars at the waiting areas, pre-ordering a drink for the intermission. We had side balcony seats which gave us a fantastic view of the stage and orchestra, the acoustics and lighting were phenomenal. The staff were incredibly pleasant, hardworking and helpful. There’s not a single thing that I can honestly say about Symphony Hall that is negative. I urge everybody to find a show they feel would be of interest and go see it. Symphony Hall is a place where you can make wonderful memories.

What a fine concert experience to see the wonderful Boomtown Rats Saturday. Fine and friendly staff, effective signage, and a view par excellence. Crystal clear sound quality, so this great band connected with my eyes ears and above all heart.
Don M — Google review
Only one criticism. Some of the seated areas have very limited leg space, which is more noticeable during longer performances or shows. Due to long lines of seats with limited leg space and no access isles; everyone has to stand to allow someone in or out, after people have sat down. This also makes me question what would happen if there was an emergency requiring evacuation. How would that go? Not well I suspect, and certainly, accessibility for those with walking aids or wheelchairs would not be viable for these seats (though I'm certain that there will be other, specific areas where accessibility has been considered). Also another more minor issue... Drink/snack holders would be nice, though I appreciate this is not always considered appropriate at these types of venue. Other aspects of the venue were exceptional. Spacious, clean, well designed, well staffed. Friendly and helpful staff. Facilities were also of a good standard. Also I should say the crowd were excellent. Everyone was friendly and considerate, and excited or happy to be there. It was truly a joy to experience.
Trisha X — Google review
The hall itself is nice, comfortable seats, and the sound acoustics were great. The event itself was good, with a clear screen and an absolutely stunning orchestra. Slight disappointment that they didn't play the cantina band song live, and the queues for the bar at the interval were long which meant we ended up not buying a drink. Regardless, it was fantastic and the orchestra were definitely the stars of the show! I'd definitely go there again for future events!
Dave P — Google review
I’ve only visited here once, but I found it easy to access with nearby parking. The venue itself is nice, spacious and you’re guaranteed pretty much a good view from whatever seat you pick. This was my seat to see, Back to the Future: In Concert which I purposely picked a higher up seat. The sound throughout the symphony hall is also really good. The only gripe I do have is some seats have limited leg room, so be prepared
Did T — Google review
A wonderful venue. So relaxed & organised. Just saw Howard Jones in concert who was exceptional-what a remarkable performance with perfect sound & lighting making it an unforgettable experience.

Went to go see the Maren Morris concert the sound and lightning was awful. We were sat in the circle with a great iew but the lights behind Maren shone directly on us, many people were blinded by the light. I suffer from Irlen Syndrome and had to sit with my eyes closed for.most of the concert. The sound was also distorted and you could not really see the stage. One other grip we had drinks and ice cream. Wow the prices were eye watering but the ice cream was full of ice crystals. Terrible for over £4 a tiny pot. We never ventured into Birmingham anymore and now I can truly say I know why. Terrible experience. I have added pictures but it was hard to show, due to the spot lights causing such issues.

Amazing water park with lots of activities for the family. Finding parking is easy enough and once you're there you can go on bike rides (also available to hire), go for a walk or jet ski. There's also a playground area for children, tourist centre and stunning views. We didn't want to wait in the queue for an ice cream so went to the cafe instead- where there is a good selection of food and drinks There was also a bouncy castle and bungee jumping available when we went Highly recommend a visit- you won't be disappointed

And if you are lucky you might even see RC model boat racing happening at one of the members dedicated place. There is plenty of woodland and water body to explore. I would recommend for a day out with family

Kingsbury Water Park is a wonderful place to visit and we had such a lovely day out. Even in the winter cold, the walks around the lakes were beautiful and perfect for taking the dog. The scenery is peaceful and well looked after, with plenty of information boards about the local wildlife and the nature of the lakes, which really added to the experience. We were lucky enough to catch a miniature boat race on the water, which was great fun to watch. The children’s play areas are brilliant, and the little railway is a real highlight – even though we didn’t go on it, it was still very entertaining to watch. The café was welcoming and served the most delicious hot chocolates, just what you need on a chilly day. Parking is £5 for the whole day, which we thought was excellent value. We’d definitely recommend a visit!

What a fabulous place to get lost in! I walked from the campsite on a busy Sunday but met very few people until I reached the msin visitor car park. Here there were toilets, cafe, seating, a huge play area and a little train station. There's plenty of walks, lakes and wildlife and a great day out for young and old. Cafe was slow and seemed a bit inadequate, it took me a long time queuing just to get a takeout cup of tea. And it was difficult to try and follow the coloured trails as at junctions signposting was sometimes missing but these are minor issues.

Nestled just a few miles from the bustling Bolmere Road, Highbury Theatre is a delightful hidden gem that offers an intimate and cozy atmosphere for theatre lovers. Recently, I had the pleasure of attending a charming pantomime production of Goldilocks, which was filled with laughter and joy—far surpassing many performances I've seen in central Birmingham. The seating arrangement creates a warm ambiance where audiences feel included in the experience.
This place took me by surprise. I did not know of this lovely theatre which was about 3 miles away and set away from the main Bolmere Road. We saw a small production panto of Goldilocks which was funnier than anything I had seen in central Birmingham for many years. My daughter’s best friend was the little bear and she was excellent. The seating was great and had a cosy feel and the audience was inclusive in the performance. Yes it is small, but it had a bar, shop and sofas in the waiting areas. I would recommend supporting this theatre and similar around the West Midlands area.
S R — Google review
Highbury is a small theatre, tucked in a residential street and looked after by a mixture of paid staff and volunteers. All the people I have come across are absolutely wonderful, so helpful and welcoming. Smaller acts can showcase themselves here and I've seen some fantastic performances. There is a small bar area, with really reasonable prices (nothing like the prices you pay at other theatres) and there's a cafe area too if tea or coffee is your preference. You can normally park on the side road. I think we are lucky to have this small theatre in our local area and I hope it keeps going to bring joy to me and others. I'm only giving 4 stars, not 5, based on the premises maybe needing a bit of a facelift, but I imagine that would cost the theatre too much to do, and would no doubt impact the prices they currently charge.

Saw a show here and I had to swap seats to the front as it's smaller than leg room in ryanair. The theatre is older and has more of a social club atmosphere to it but the seats need to be updated as we have legs

Lovely trail and also some lovely ducks to see and interact with! Only a small trail so ideal for a small walk and in a nice, quiet area also. Only down side to the trail is that only the beginning of the walk would be suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs as before long you go on more rocky/dirty nature trails and it becomes inaccessible unless walking.

Direct Art Action UK Sutton Coldfield is a non-traditional gallery space located in an abandoned BHS store at the center of Sutton Coldfield. The gallery offers a fantastic selection of original paintings and provides a supportive environment for artists to exhibit their work. The main person running the gallery, Gav, is known for engaging in meaningful conversations about art and life with visitors. The owners, Gavin and Rufina, are highly responsive and helpful in organizing art exhibitions while strongly promoting the exhibited artists.
I’ve been exhibiting my work on a long term basis here for a while now. I love that it’s not a traditional gallery space as it’s set in an abandoned BHS store. It’s situated right in the centre of Sutton Coldfield so easily accessible. I tend to go in once a week and have a good chat about art and life with Gav who is the main person running this gallery. I’m working towards an art installation/ fashion show which I will put on here in March 2020. There’s quite a broad spectrum of artists on display within the space. It’s a great space for not only wall art but bigger more ambitious projects. They also encourage artists to have community engagement, there’s often public events put on here. It’s a valuable asset making creative use of an old store. I suggest you check the space out and hopefully support it

As an artists’ representative, I have had a few exhibitions of Russian and Lithuanian artists at the Direct Art Action UK Gallery in Sutton Coldfield. The gallery has a fantastic selection of original paintings and very friendly and helpful staff. The owners, Gavin and Rufina, are very responsive and helpful with organising the art exhibitions and strongly promoted every one of my exhibited artists. I would highly recommend the Direct Art Action UK Gallery to anyone, artist or artists’ representatives, looking for a space to show their artworks in a great location.

The gallery space is very big and great for artists to display. The people at Direct Art Action are very helpful and spend their time with you. As an artist I found the gallery to be excellent.

They review their own organisation to bump up the rating on google. Nice place to exhibit, and great that they have community engagement and events, but littering an art school where people are there to better themselves, be supported by friends and family and show their work and curation abilities is poor judgement. Exhibiting students were enraged having to pick up hundreds of A5 flyers from every room (approx 7 rooms) over three floors.

Direct Art Action in Sutton Coldfield is a hidden gem! Located in the former Bhs store it is a huge art gallery with ever changing exhibitions so there's always something new to see. There is also a café and gift shop, all very reasonably priced. Well worth a visit!!

MERKUR Slots - Erdington in Birmingham is a fresh and lively gaming destination that opened its doors in September 2020. Nestled among several other adult gaming centers, this venue stands out with its sleek design and modern amenities. Gamers can expect a wide array of contemporary digital slot machines, featuring enticing jackpots of 100 and 500, ensuring an exhilarating experience without the nostalgia of outdated technology. The atmosphere is both welcoming and vibrant, complemented by friendly staff who are eager to assist visitors.
A great and modern venue with friendly staff and good promotions, very clean and welcoming

Brand new opening in September 2020, making it four adult gaming centres within 200 metres! Wether there’s the demand I don’t know, but there’s nothing to fault over the condition, layout or premises. There’s an abundance of the same type of gaming machine, but the manufacturer of these is the same company as the arcade brand. You won’t find any lo-tech of old style slots in here, just modern digital £100 and £500 jackpots.

Art gallery
Located in Sutton, the Driffold Gallery is a renowned art dealer and consultant housed in a grade II listed building. With over 25 years of experience, the gallery showcases an extensive range of artwork including Victorian, Impressionist, and Modern pieces. The owner, David Gilbert, has deep knowledge of the art market and presents significant works from various artists along with contemporary pieces. Visitors praise the friendly service and wide variety of paintings available for purchase at this charming gallery.
I have been displaying my own artwork with David Gilbert, owner of the Driffold Gallery for over 25 years and over that time, have built up a very good working relationship with him. David has a very extensive knowledge of the art market and the gallery shows a wide range of fabulous and important works from a number of significant artists and many recognised contemporary artists. The work of many of these artists has made good prices at sale rooms and David has a good base of clients from across the UK. I would recommend the Driffold Gallery most highly and if you have the time to pop in, it is very worth while doing so. John Twinning, artist

I love this gallery. We first bought a picture from David over 20 years ago and, as a lover of 19th and 20th century British art, I always try to visit when I'm in the area. David is very knowledgeable and always helpful and charming
