OZEANEUM Stralsund GmbH is a modern marine museum located in Stralsund, focusing on the Baltic and North Seas. It was voted European Museum of the Year in 2010 and attracts over half a million visitors annually. The interactive exhibition offers educational experiences suitable for children, featuring display boards, models, and live fish in various aquariums. The aquarium also provides scenic views of the Old Town and St. Nicholas Church from its location on the harbor.
Went there around 80 minutes before closing, and I had just enough time to go through everything in the museum. I paid 14 euros for my ticket, and what I got for that price was justified. Would recommend!
Axel N — Google review
I recommend it, very modern, well structured and easy to visit. If you want to see it in detail, it is ideal to allocate about 2-3 hours. The adult ticket costs 18 euros, for those aged between 17-24 a discount of 4 euros is applied. It is also beautiful outside.
A. A — Google review
Very nice place for both kids and adults. Very well organized with a wide variety of different exhibitions. It takes 2-3 hours to see the whole place.
Pawel B — Google review
The oceanarium is an incredibly educational place. The whole family was delighted with it. You can admire live animal specimens there, as well as learn interesting facts about the Baltic Sea. The entrance fee is not low, but it's worth it.
Iva — Google review
Very interesting place with amazing aquariums and well preserved specimens. Here you can learn many interesting facts about animals and nature. Great place for kids.
Olga D — Google review
It's a BIG museum with lots to learn about the earth and its oceans. The audio guide is very thorough with an option to read instead of listen and audodescription for the visually impaired. And the fishes are obviously beautiful.
Laurien S — Google review
It’s a nice aquarium. On a rainy day in the summer it’s of course pretty crowded and also not great regarding air ventilation ;-) It took us two hours, but we didn’t read through everything.
Conny F — Google review
For a modern oceanarium I would expect more larger aquariums and less boring exhibitions. No interactive elements. A bit disappointing.

Gorch Fock I is a restored and seaworthy rigged sailing ship that serves as a floating museum and events venue. Launched in 1933, it has a rich history as a sail training ship for German naval forces and later used by the Soviet Navy until 1990. Now permanently anchored in Stralsund's harbor, visitors can board the impressive old vessel to explore its storied past.
I visited quite early in the day before going for a walk along the waterfront. 4 euro entry fee per person was very much worth it. The staff were friendly and informative. The information was interesting and clear and easy to read. My travel buddy Yoshi enjoyed looking around ;)
Hollee G — Google review
The three-masted Gorch Fock I is an impressive sight, and standing on its deck felt like stepping into another era. The nearby harbor promenade and the view of the sea strait made the experience even more special. Stralsund’s waterfront is peaceful yet lively – the scent of the sea and the charm of the old harbor buildings made the visit truly unforgettable.
Tamás F — Google review
Historically interesting. Some interesting exhibits but not many. It’s more about the vessel itself.
Zygmunt K — Google review
Worth a visit if you are in Stralsund. Interesting to see the original boat with original equipment from the second world war. 5€ per adult. Can be seen in 15 minutes (not very big). Not suitable for people with physical disabilities. Woman at the register was pretty unpolite. We asked if it's a tour or if we can walk around freely and she replied "well you know how to read right?"
Cris — Google review
Really interesting attraction! A must-see in Stralsund. Unfortunately several parts of the ship are under renovation so we didn’t get to visit them... but other than that it was worthwhile.

St. Mary's Church, or Die Marienkirche, is a stunning 14th-century red-brick marvel located in Stralsund, Germany. This architectural gem showcases the beauty of Brick Gothic style and features an impressive bell tower that rises to 104 meters. Inside, visitors are greeted by a bright and inviting atmosphere with its pristine white walls and beautifully crafted altar. The church houses a magnificent baroque organ and intricately designed tombs that tell stories of the past.
A nice place to have sport. I mean if you climb its tower. The view is really fascinating. Ticket only 3€ 😍

The Stralsund Museum of Cultural History is a collection of seven different locations across Stralsund, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the area. One of its highlights is the Viking treasure, known as 'Hiddensee Gold Jewellery,' which consists of 16 pieces dating back to the 10th century. The museum offers a fascinating tour through the city's history and residents, housed in beautifully restored buildings like the Katharinen Monastery.
The Stralsund museum of cultural history is currently undergoing renovation and expansion and what there was there looked very good I would love to see it after the completed renovation and expansion. The people who work there are very friendly and will answer any questions and some parts of it including your entry fee information is posted in English as well.

Alex S — Google review
Quite interesting, but the quality of the exhibits (and their respective descriptions) were of wildly varying quality. The staff was however very nice and eager to answer questions. I learned a lot about the role Sweden played here in the 17th and 18th centuries - stuff we never covered in school...
Maggie H — Google review
Came here to to see the amazing Hiddensee find. I is now clear (2021), that the gold treasure was about 1/6 of the original treasure found in Harold Bluetooth grave 1841. The rest of the museum is very nice in the old monestry

(Translated by Google) Great scenery, very informative. We especially liked the large turtle with its accompanying school of fish, so majestic. Unfortunately, it was incredibly crowded and stuffy, especially in the aquarium, so you couldn't get close enough to look at everything. (Translated by Google) We came with great anticipation, but it didn't really blow us away. Yes, it's a museum, and everyone has different tastes, but it's lost its charm of the past. At €18 admission, I'd rather just go straight to the Oceanarium; I get more out of it. (Translated by Google) We consider Stralsund to be one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. Surrounded by water, it offers a wealth of sights, history, and interest. The city center could offer more shopping. The many cafés invite you to linger. The pricing policies of the restaurants often tend to be out of line with the offerings compared to the rest of the country. Overall conclusion: We always enjoy coming back; the accommodation options are diverse and good – there's plenty to explore. (Translated by Google) A visit to Stralsund is always worth it. In the old town, you'll find many new buildings and many old ones that have stood the test of time. But you'll also find corners of the old town that have been built over and once had much more charm. Still, it's beautiful, with small cafés and restaurants everywhere where you can enjoy breakfast outside or simply watch the hustle and bustle. There are parking spaces in the old town, which are naturally full of tourists in the summer, but we were lucky 😀 I definitely recommend a visit to this historic city!!!

(Translated by Google) Beautiful old town. But be careful: wear sturdy, flat shoes, as there are still a lot of cobblestones. Restaurants and snack bars are available for every budget. There are plenty of places to sit and take a break at the harbor. (Translated by Google) A walking tour of this beautifully renovated city is highly recommended. If you can do it with a guide, it's even better, because then you know exactly what's worth seeing. In short: the area around Holy Cross Church, the old market square and town hall, St. Nicholas Church, St. James Church, and St. Mary's Church (all churches were closed in the morning). I also found a visit to the Oceaneum very interesting.

Churches & Cathedrals
St. Nicholas' Church, Stralsund, also known as Nikolaikirche, is a Gothic church built in the 14th century and is located behind the Old Market Square. It features beautiful altars and an impressive astronomical clock inside. The church has two towers with an interesting history - one was rebuilt after a fire while the other was left with a flat roof due to lack of funds. Inside, visitors can admire reliefs depicting the life of Jesus on its walls.
Nice church, open not only for religious service but also for public events.
Der G — Google review
St. Nicholas Church (German: Nikolaikirche) is the oldest of the three major parish churches of Stralsund in Germany. It was dedicated in 1279 to Saint Nicholas of Myra, the patron saint of sailors. St. Nicholas Church was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2002. The construction began as a hall church with a tower in 1234. After 1270, the unfinished St. Nicholas Church was rebuilt as a basilica, following the design of St. Mary's Church in Lübeck. The construction of the western tower began in 1300. In 1314, the council decided to build two towers. Around 1350, the construction of the nave between the two towers was completed. A fire in 1662 destroyed the wooden spires of the towers. In 1667, the southern tower was provided with a Baroque dome. The first attempts to renew the church's medieval colour scheme were made in 1891. Remains found near the organ were used as an example. The Berlin painter August Grimmer painted the leaf decorations in the arcades of the choir. The nave, the aisles, and tower chapels were painted by the Linnemann brothers from Frankfurt (wiki).

Zoo Stralsund is a must-visit destination in Northern Germany, offering an extensive collection of over 150 animal species. The zoo spans across 16 hectares and features native German animals as well as some from abroad. Visitors can enjoy animal shows, feeding times, and even have the opportunity to touch some of the animals. The zoo also boasts a bistro for a delightful dining experience.
LOVELY ZOO! The garden is so amazing and everything is neat and well-looked! 🌟
Marina — Google review
The park was beautiful and had many different animals. However, it is clear that the parks intent is to have as many different animals as possible, and that they don’t put enough thought into animal welfare. Especially the wild animals like wolves, lions and the king eagle had way too little space, and seemed apathy and unhappy. I wish the park would have not made the choice to have these huge animals, and world rather focus on the other animals they have that require less space. It was really affordable to get in, which is nice
Frankie R — Google review
Very good zoo, decent walking distance inside the zoo, there's a kids play area as well. Animals are not too many, just few varieties. 7 Euro ticket price per adult and free for kids. Best for family outing. Overall great experience!
Patterson C — Google review
The zoo is amazing! I put one star to focus attention only on condition of OCELOT, it's cage is really small, dirty and seems very unpleasant, the Ocelot it's self is very depressed 😞😞😞, staring at the ground, laying and shivering with obvious signs of being either sick or really deeply depressed. Please share it in order to put attention to it's conditions!
Alkor M — Google review
It is quite small, but the range of tropical birds and local/European/rural animals is above average. Especially at sunny days, the zoo shows off as a nice park. If you have got kids, take them there. They will not be disappointed. +1

I thoroughly enjoyed the variety of options available at Fischbrötchenkutter Anja. The staff was extremely friendly, and the food was outstanding. Anyone who complains about the prices is out of touch with reality in my opinion. The value for money at this restaurant is definitely acceptable. I also appreciated its location, which is conveniently situated by a private yacht harbor.
Really great experience! We ordered mixed smoked fish plate. It was delicious and in my opinion - enough for 2-3 persons. Nice vibe, just at the bank.

The other all experience is nice, but the brötchen is a bit overpriced. There are enough fish and sauce, but about 9€ for this - a bit too much. I’d highly recommend the Fischbrötchenkutter if the prices for brötchen were around 6-7€

Very nice place for a quick sea food meal. Everything is fresh and delicious. I had a traditional Bismarckhering (in a bun), kids ate fish and chips and my husband had backfisch. You eat outside here, next to water and the marine. If you like this kind of local climate, you’re gonna like it too.

(Translated by Google) If you want a really fantastic view over Stralsund and are not afraid of 366 steps, I really recommend taking this “tour”. It costs 5 euros per person (adults) and you can get started. A spiral staircase made of red brick leads up quite narrowly, you should have good lungs, but the climb is worth it. With a few short breaks (it only goes up), it was hardly crowded, and you arrived at the upper part of the brick building. This is your first opportunity to take photos of Stralsund. From there you climb up the beams of the tower. Quite steep wooden stairs lead further and further up, but they only go in one direction, it's all one-way (except for the last ladder). In the bell tower itself you can see the old wooden construction and you wonder what these walls and wooden beams must have experienced and "seen". Impressive!!!You need good fitness, but you will be rewarded at the top with a wonderful view over Stralsund (old town). I can only recommend this climb to everyone. I also have to mention that the woman at the checkout was very nice and warm.

(Translated by Google) Fantastic view of Stralsund at a height of over 90 meters. Entry costs €5 (€2 for pupils/students). It goes up over almost 400 steps, first stone/concrete, then wooden stairs. I find it very pleasant to go down via a different exit so that there is no encountering traffic. I think the effort is very worth it! (Original) Fantastische Aussicht auf Stralsund auf über 90 Meter Höhe. Der Eintritt kostet 5€ (2€ für Schüler/Studenten). Hoch geht's über knapp 400 Stufen, zuerst Stein/Beton, dann Holztreppen. It was a great experience! Amazing artwork, very interesting displays and modern design perfectly executed with timeless knowledge. I wish more people would come here and learn how important the oceans are to humans and share this passion with others. Highly recommended

One of the best museums I’ve been to. It is modern, and the design of the whole exhibition and museum is very interactive and inclusive.

The entire museum is in an old church. This probably the best use of a church that I have ever seen. There are a large amount of exhibits and just when you think it's over they have an impressive exibit of aquariums in the basement. I suggest this highly the price is extremely reasonable for the amount of things to see.

Located on the seaside, the Ozeaneum is a modern, spacious museum building. It displays all things related to fish, whales, fishery, and ocean research, and also has some nice live fish swimming around in huge aquariums. The whale-room is the coolest. It also houses a shop to buy souvenirs, and a café.

The Störtebeker Braumanufaktur is a historical brewery from 1827 that offers brewery tours, sommelier events, and tastings. They have a visitor center exhibition where visitors can learn about the brewing process. The guided tour lasts around two hours and takes you through the Sudhaus and up to the roof.
The factory is huge, and a brewery tour costs just 15 eur per person. Our guide took as through all parts if the factory, and we had a tasting at the end. Great experience! Make sure to book the tour, and reserve a table for dinner at their restaurant!

Despite I haven’t visited the factory myself, but my friend from Switzerland has introduced me this beer and it was SEHR GUT! I wish I’d be able to visit the brewery and try the fresh one. Wish you all the best and I hope you will export it to South Korea so that everyone would be able to enjoy your amazing beer.

Absolutely worth the €15 for the guided tour! It takes you along the brewery process inside the Sudhaus and up the roof and took 2 hours time incl. the great tasting at the end. Our guide (unfortunately we don't know his name) was really great and knowledgeable about everything! Tasting included 4 types of the Störtebeker portfolio incl. one bread roll (home-made Treberbrot) and showed off the high-quality beer they make there.

Brunnenaue, the oldest public park in Stralsund, is a beautiful green area that serves as a link between the urban greenery, residential areas, and the ramparts around the old town. The park was first mentioned as a healing spring in 1630. It features wide grassy areas and a fountain where visitors can cool off in summer or go tobogganing in winter. There's also a small playground for children to enjoy.

At least the girl tried to go from the counter to the rule and then confirm that they no longer carry the product. Otherwise no kind word or smile. Before that, there was a lively chat with a regular customer. Unfortunately, not everyone is granted customer friendliness there. But you won't win new customers who would like to come back. The only positive thing about my visit is that I appreciate the organic island at the main train station even more. No help was offered during my longer stay, nor was anyone asked at the checkout whether I had found everything. The dates were supposedly weighed with tare, but this was not apparent on the receipt. It's a shame, just a shame. I am well aware that, like everywhere else in retail, the pay is certainly not high, but such a lack of interest in the customer is unacceptable. My hope remains that it was just a bad day on my part. (Translated by Google) A small but nice museum about fishing and boats. Perfect as a complement to the Marine Museum/Oceaneum and also free. Well suited for families with children.
