Copenhagen Zoo, located in Frederiksberg, Denmark, is a popular attraction for visitors of all ages. The zoo offers a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of the city and is easily accessible year-round. With its airy Norman Foster-designed elephant house and Arctic habitat for polar bears, the zoo provides an engaging experience for animal enthusiasts. Visitors can observe majestic lions confidently roaming their enclosures while peacocks strut around with an air of superiority.
This zoo is so beautiful! It has a variety of animals. The cages are nice and clean. The zoo has stunning views as it is on a hill. We really liked all the greenery. It is just beautiful to walk around. We also really enjoyed the playground. Very cute! We decided to purchase a Copenhagen card and the zoo entrance was included. We will definitely be back here to explore more.
Ruth B — Google review
Very well planned area. It is quite good for explaining animals to children. Most of the animal areas are in good condition such as lion, kangaroos and panda. But the polar bear living area should be improved. We used Copenhagen Card for entry, and entered afternoon. So it is not crowded and fun to walk around.
Volkan G — Google review
Awesome zoo in huge area and beautiful landscape. This place has all the animals you can imagine of with engaging activities like goat patting, feeding the lions, kids makeup, great playgrounds and exhibitions. The restrooms are clean and all areas are very well maintained. There’re plenty of food kiosks or restaurants along the way and they all offer good foods. Highly recommended to spend at least half a day here to cover many sections like Savannah, rainforest and the poles. Make sure you wear comfy shoes.
NY H — Google review
Me and my children loved this zoo, it was clean, had so many animals and areas to visit we spent 4 hours here. Really easy to get the bus to and from. Lots of food and drink stalls if you wanted to eat there. Everywhere is so clean and tidy and there are loads of staff around if you want to ask where something is or about an animal etc..would definitely recommend this if you visit Copenhagen. Our visit was covered by the Discovery card that I purchased before we arrived.
Kelly S — Google review
A good day out with loads to look at. Spread across two sites the zoo had something for everyone. The animals appeared well looked after and you could view them inside or outside in many cases. Plenty of cafes which were reasonably priced. Used our Copenhagen card to get in so nothing to pay. Wrap up warm if going in colder climates.
Alex J — Google review
Entry used by Copenhagen card. Best zoo experience so far, nice open enclosures to get close to lions, polar bears and pandas. Many fish seemed to be missing from the aquarium and signs/ notices to get around the park could of been more clear
L C — Google review
Copenhagen Zoo is a beautiful and well-maintained place with a great variety of animals and impressive enclosures. Arctic Ring with the polar bear was absolute highlights. It’s very family-friendly, with plenty of space, playgrounds, and cafés for a relaxing day out. A bit pricey, but definitely worth it for the experience and the care shown for the animals.
Anoop A — Google review
This is one of the best zoos in Europe we have been to. Such a wide selection of Animals to see and sharing the same habitats. Was nice and quiet at was a week day. Shame there was no Capybaras as suggested they have here.

Garden
City park
Park
Frederiksberg Gardens, located in the heart of Frederiksberg, is a sprawling green oasis surrounding an 18th-century palace. The English-style landscaped gardens feature canals, lakes, hidden pathways, and surprises like an elephant exhibit along one of the trails. In summer, it's a popular spot for locals to picnic and enjoy outdoor activities while in winter, visitors can ice skate on the lake.
I haven’t been to a park lime this since childhood. While I walked the path, the manicured grass, carefully prepped trees and picturesque lakes with swans and ducks brought me back to my childhood. This park had a section where mother nature took care of itself whole another section was taken care by humankind. Park had benches, toilets and a small place to grab a drink or icecream. It had all kind of summer funs too. We simply loved our time here while walking up to the castle.
Tas A — Google review
The park is beautiful, full of little ducks… I loved visiting! Had such a nice walk around too
Victória A — Google review
Beautiful place!! Very crowded on Saturday morning, but it is so big so everyone can find space to hang without disturbing each other.
Anat I — Google review
My favorite place in Copenhagen! 🍃 I come here almost every day — sometimes in the morning, sometimes in the evening — and every single time I discover something new and beautiful. Whether it’s peaceful lakes, stunning trees, friendly ducks, or just the calm atmosphere, this park never disappoints. Perfect for walks, running, relaxing with friends, or simply enjoying a quiet moment in nature. A true everyday escape right in the city ❤️
Osho J — Google review
An encredible place to spend your time in Copenhagen. Definitely one of the nicest parks I've ever visited and I need to say, I would like to spend here much more time, but we had unfortunately a very tight agenda. I'm not wondering that the Danish people are so happy, having such places in my town would make me happy (and proud) too. Fantastic, bravo, danish people!!
Oto S — Google review
One of the most beautiful places i have visited in Copenhagen, definitely a must visit! Lots of places to walk around and breath taking views
Theofania — Google review
Highly recommended! This park is an absolute gem in the heart of Copenhagen. The beautifully landscaped gardens are truly mesmerizing, and the peaceful water canal adds to the charm. There are plenty of scenic spots ideal for picnics, Another advantage can be a glimpse of elephants from the nearby zoo at one corner of the park ! 🐘 You have opportunity to rent a boat for just 60 DKK for adults and 30 DKK for children (aged 3+), making it a unique and affordable experience to view the gardens around. It is a must-visit for anyone seeking natural beauty, peace of mind or any kind of arrangement with friends or family .
Aarati K — Google review
Top park of the city for sure. Plenty of space to have a nice picnic. Take a long walk, visit every space and then rest in the grass. Awesome views 🙌

The Little Mermaid is a famous bronze sculpture in Copenhagen, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's beloved fairy tale. Unveiled in 1913, it sits gracefully on a rock along the waterfront and is a must-see for literature and fairy tale enthusiasts. The site offers serene views of the harbor and appeals to those seeking a contemplative experience. To avoid crowds, visit early in the morning or late afternoon.
The Little Mermaid may be small, but she's full of emotion and history. Sculpted in 1913, she tells the story of love, sacrifice, and longing from Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale. Don't just stop for a photo - walk around the area! You'll find the beautiful Gefion Fountain, St. Alban's Church, and cozy cafés nearby. In spring, especially from mid-April to early May, cherry trees bloom along the paths, making it one of the most romantic walks in Copenhagen. A timeless symbol of beauty and reflection.
Tetiana B — Google review
Visiting the Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen was a memorable experience. The sculpture itself is smaller than I expected, but it’s beautifully placed by the water and has a certain quiet charm. The surroundings are peaceful, with lovely views across the harbor, and it’s a nice spot for a walk. Even though it can get a bit crowded with tourists, it still feels special to see such an iconic landmark in person. A must-visit if you’re exploring Copenhagen!
Kalina M — Google review
The Little Mermaid – A Symbol of Copenhagen We visited the famous Little Mermaid statue, and while the statue itself is quite small, it’s definitely worth the visit. Nestled along the waterfront, the surroundings are absolutely beautiful, offering peaceful views and a scenic walk leading up to the site. The walk itself is part of the experience – calm, relaxing, and filled with lovely views of the harbour. Do keep in mind that it’s a popular attraction, so it can get quite crowded. If you're hoping for a quieter moment, consider visiting early in the morning or later in the evening. A charming and iconic stop on any Copenhagen itinerary.
Mark H — Google review
Copenhagen in the Spring is a nice, relatively quiet port with mostly the usual features of European / Scandinavian ports. The only unique attraction is The Little Mermaid statue, small but with it's own history of abductions, kidnapping and beheadings. If you're lucky your guide will give you the local story of the Little Mermaid which is more of a Danish Tragedy, so beware of little ears who are enchanted by the Disney version. It isn't magical but it's interesting lore. Here are a few other shots of the city as there are ample and better pictures of the Mermaid than I could get under the lighting conditions.
M H — Google review
The Little Mermaid bronze statue, located in Copenhagen, sits on a granite rock, on the water side of langeline promenade. It is 4.1 ft tall and weighs 175 kgs. The Statue was based on the fairy tale of Hans Christian Anderson and was unveiled to the public in 1913. However, it has now become a target for defacement, due to uncaring attitude of some people, despite attracting those tourist and visitors, who are smitten fairy tale lovers, ofcourse that includes me. I loved her quiet gaze, an unassuming sureness of her existence to continue.
Neeru D — Google review
I visited the Little Mermaid in Copenhagen around dusk since it gets dark early this time of year. It wasn’t crowded, which made it easy to take pictures. There were no tickets or anything like that, you just walk up to it. The statue itself was nice to see in person, though it felt a bit simple to me. Still, it was a fun stop and worth seeing while in the city.
Grace W — Google review
it’s a very beautiful and symbolic statue as the sea wraps around it. around the mermaid there’s also a very nice park with amazing statues and church! there are a lot of people coming there for pictures so be prepared if you come in the afternoon!
Hamy N — Google review
Free activity - a little underwhelming to be honest, it’s also quite far out to the north of the city. If you on a tight schedule probably better to skip but if you have plenty of time & love the Hans Christian Andersen stories then pop past for a photo - there are actually some beautiful sights near the little mermaid which you can enjoy

The Round Tower, also known as Rundetarn, is a remarkable 17th-century structure in Copenhagen. It was originally built as an astronomical observatory and features a unique spiral ramp instead of traditional stairs. Visitors can enjoy sweeping views of the city from this architectural gem while experiencing its rich history. The gradual ascent makes it accessible to all, appealing to history buffs, architecture enthusiasts, and anyone seeking breathtaking vistas of Copenhagen.
Nice view from the top, you can also take a peek into the observatory up there. That's is also a shop with beautifully designed items (notebooks, post cards, posters, etc) that's adjacent to an art school exhibition. Plus you can take a look into the church's attic and learn about historic stuff
Jana G — Google review
Totally worth the visit! It has a very cool architecture spiraling all the way to the top, ending with a rooftop deck, amazing views and also an observatory. It has some art installations inside too.
MAXIM P — Google review
The round tower is a must see if you visit Copenhagen! It is Europe’s oldest observatory building and it offers breathtaking views of the city. There is an art gallery on one of the floors which has some interesting pieces
Aynsley J — Google review
Great attraction right in the city center. The ticket costs around €8. The climb is easy, with very few steps, and the views from the top are beautiful — you can see the entire city from above. There’s also a small museum and a small art exhibition inside. I didn’t visit many attractions in Copenhagen, but I’m glad I visited this one.
Katerina Z — Google review
Not to be missed. The line was short (on a late Saturday morning). Built under the direction of Danish monarch Christian IV between 1637 and 1642, this impressive tower offers stunning views of the København skyline along with the Øresund Bridge and Sweden in the distance. There are stairs only at the top; the sloping ascent made it possible for Christian IV to view his realm while riding in his carriage.
John Q — Google review
Beautiful building and it was awesome that the tower's path is the slope so it was such a nice way to travel up and down the building, I love it! Fantastic view of the city skyline at the top with a cool astronomy tower within ☀️🌙⭐🔭 There are bathrooms, shop, and gallery half way up the path. You can find a little details about the building and a replica look like it made from cork. Also an art gallery at the shop. The old bathroom was very small and interesting 😁 The final path way up the Round tower is a narrow tight space stairs so you have to wait for the lights to go up and come back down as there is only enough space for a one way traffic. It took up about an hour to get up, look around, and come back out. Definitely a recommendation of things to do in Copenhagen!
Penny G — Google review
A nice walk up the round tower! Not staircases, just a walkway like walking or driving up a multi-story parking. 😃 lovely 360 views at the top if the weather permits. Lucky when we went it was dry and sunny so it was just perfect!

Located underground in the depths of Sondermarken Park, Cisternerne, also known as The Cisterns in English, is a former subterranean reservoir that once supplied drinking water to Copenhagen. This underground space has been transformed into an immersive art venue and is now part of the Frederiksbergmuseerne. The cavernous site, which used to hold 16 million liters of water, hosts rotating art exhibitions by internationally renowned artists and architects.
Such a cool experience! Loved seeing the historic location get reused in such a unique way. The audio and visual effects made it feel very other worldly.
Megan W — Google review
The exhibit inside was underwater themed at the time so it was appropriate but the space itself was almost more interesting. Such a cool repurposing of an old reservoir. The water floor with grated walkway just above the water is a very cool feature as well. Highly recommend especially if you have the city pass as it's a pretty quick stop.
Zach Y — Google review
interesting, unusual place. there is no permanent exhibition but temporary ones, so what u'll see depends on when u visit it. In general , for those who likes smth not trivial and unique i can recommend.
Mike — Google review
I almost missed the entrance, but wasn’t thinking it’s underground so of course there’s not a big building in the park. Really cool spot with interesting art exhibition (quite spooky- it changes every year but I imagine it’s always a little spooky down there), some good rock formations, and info on the history of the cisterns.
Heather L — Google review
Well that was an interesting place ! Not a huge art fan but this was a different experience. Deep underground, lit by mainly hanging weird lights with strange music playing this was definitely a place to explore. Add in the fact the walkways were suspended above water with no safety rails your wits were needed to stay dry. The history was nicely presented and was a great way to kill an hour. Paid for via Copenhagen card. If you have young children you definitely need to hold their hands to prevent them falling in.
Alex J — Google review
Very cool experience, although the ticket price is a bit steep for a one-exhibition museum (albeit, in a cool, unique space). It’s cold, dark, and not very friendly for mobility-impaired guests, so I wouldn’t recommend it to everyone. Kids might find it a bit scary. But that also makes it very cool and moody. I look forward to returning for the Marina Abramacić exhibition coming in March 2026!
Ingrid S — Google review
Amazing experience! We went for the Psycho Sphere exhibition and it was just great! No need to buy tickets in advance, they don’t guarantee faster entry

Nature & Parks
Søndermarken is a picturesque park located near Frederiksberg Castle in Copenhagen. It features an underground art venue called Cisternerne, which is situated in former water reservoirs and showcases contemporary art by various artists. The park itself offers a serene environment with old trees, playgrounds, fitness routes, and cultural history. Visitors can also explore nearby attractions such as Frederiksberg Gardens and the Copenhagen Zoo.
Just across the road from Frederiksberg Garden lies Søndermarken, a park that feels wilder, more secluded, and somehow more introspective. While its neighbor is open and classical in design, Søndermarken offers a denser, more wooded landscape; it is perfect for quiet walks, jogging, or simply escaping the noise of the city for a while. Originally laid out in the 18th century as a royal hunting ground for Frederiksberg Palace, Søndermarken has retained much of its natural charm. The paths wind through tall trees, and the park has an almost forest-like feel in places. There’s a timeless atmosphere here, you feel more like a traveler than a tourist. One of its most unique features is the Cisternerne — a former underground water reservoir that now serves as a contemporary art space. The contrast between modern installations and the damp, echoing chambers of this subterranean world is striking and worth experiencing. It adds a surreal, almost meditative layer to the park visit. Søndermarken doesn’t draw the same crowds as other parks in Copenhagen, and that’s part of its beauty. It’s a place for solitude, for reflection, for walking beneath old trees where kings once rode, and where time seems to slow down.
Dmitry Z — Google review
A good park! You can unleashed your dog and walk it. It’s good all season

The People’s park has been open to the public since 1852. Lots of demonstrations and other gatherings take place here. A lovely park for stroll or jogging. It was hunting ground for royals long ago. It has a few famous attractions like the Water cisterne beneath the park build to ensure clean drinking water to the city during a cholera epidemic.
Jorgen F — Google review

Tas A — Google review
Went to a cool exhibition in the old city cistern, that was in the middle of this gorgeous city park.
Bonnie M — Google review
I have frequented this park for the past couple years now in different seasons, and its always a joy to come to. Its a great place to find a grass spot to plop down on and get some 'Grounding' time in. It gets a bit crowded for me during peak Spring/Summer months but its close by. Otherwise I bike to Amager for some extra seclusion.
Kayla B — Google review
Easily one of my favorite parks I’ve been to. The fountain is so pretty and the lawns are so well kept. A lot of people having picnics, playing with kids, and walking dogs.
Hailey — Google review
Søndermarken is a hidden gem nestled right beside Københavns Zoo, and it offers a serene and picturesque escape from the bustling city. I recently had the pleasure of visiting this beautiful park, and I was captivated by its natural beauty and tranquility. The park is incredibly well-maintained, with lush greenery, colorful flower beds, and well-manicured pathways that invite you to take a leisurely stroll. It's the perfect place to unwind, enjoy a picnic, or simply immerse yourself in nature's embrace. Søndermarken's proximity to Københavns Zoo adds an additional touch of charm, as you can sometimes hear the distant roars of animals, which adds to the overall ambiance. One of the highlights of Søndermarken is the stunning Frederiksberg Palace, which stands majestically within the park. The palace's elegant architecture and beautiful gardens create a picture-perfect setting, making it a favorite spot for photographers and history enthusiasts alike. You can also explore the surrounding gardens, which are meticulously landscaped and offer a peaceful retreat from the urban hustle. The park features various amenities, including benches, picnic areas, and well-placed garbage bins that ensure cleanliness. Additionally, there are well-marked trails for walking and jogging, making it a great place for outdoor exercise enthusiasts. The presence of children's playgrounds also makes Søndermarken an ideal destination for families.

Looks exactly like all the photos, lovely area either beautiful danish houses, boutiques and souvenirs. There are nice canal side restaurants, boat rest aired, public benches and live buskers all around so you can do a lot without spending much. Careful not to get run over by bikes!
Felicia M — Google review
A very pleasant and lively area. A boat tour is recommended. You can see many places in an hour. I think there are two boat tours. One is very cheap. You should ask about the difference and choose accordingly.
Cem Ö — Google review
Visited Nyhavn over the weekend and absolutely loved it! 🌈 The colorful houses along the canal look stunning, especially on a sunny day ☀️. Tip: for the best photo, click from the opposite side of the canal 📸. Lined with cozy cafes and restaurants, it’s a perfect place to relax, enjoy a meal, and soak in the cheerful Copenhagen vibes 🇩🇰.
YG T — Google review
Nice view to take pictures. Both side of the canal has dozens of shops to hang out and buy souvenirs. All are expensive then what is priced outside of this zone. There is a big obnoxious ship in the canal and it is hard to take a nice reflective photo with the colorful buildings. That is why I personally like the one in Trondheim Norway.
Tas A — Google review
Lively waterfront with many restaurants! I love the atmosphere but it was very crowded at the same time. We had a Thai food at Charm restaurant close by for dinner and the ice cream for dessert just across the road from Vaffelbageren Nyhavn. It's definitely a lovely place to walk around and soak up the vibe!

It's a must see and very photographic landmark area. There are numerous restaurants and small shops. You catch a canal tour here as well. Don't forget to visit the shop where Hans Christian Anderson once lived.

The museum offers insight into the artist's life and showcases some of his most remarkable creations.
Very interesting little museum that will take you through 100 years of comedy development in Denmark. Incl an important temporary exhibition about women's roles in danish comedy
Niels C — Google review
Overall the museum was a good cultural experience. The lady at the front desk was very pleasant and professional in engaging in a rather difficult conversation related to some of what was in the museum and considered comedy of the Danish past. So that a larger crowd of non-Danish speakers can understand that the Danish understand the ignorance of the racist comic strips by Storm, it would be good to post that disclaimer in English until the rest of the museum has translation.
Melissa M — Google review
The place itself is in a very nice part of the city, but we much as I can understand the difficulty in translating the century old jokes, the fact that there’s no English translation to help guide you through made the experience very sour. As much as I like the artwork, I couldn’t risk getting something I wouldn’t understand.
Andreea M — Google review
Museum dedicated to Storm P., a danish cartoonist of the first half of the 20th century. The exhibition is small and quick to visit but very interesting, with works dedicated to social critics. Most of the descriptions are in danish but there are QR codes with the english version.

Quite a lot to see. Included in Copenhagen Card. Not full English translation, but it's art, so you should be able to understand most of them.

Interesting look into the history of humor and satire in Denmark The two exhibits on the main floor have English translations via an app, but the unfortunately, the upstairs exhibit of Storm P’s works do not I had hoped to get a general grasp on Danish humor here, but this did not happen

Tivoli Gardens is a 19th-century amusement park located in the heart of Copenhagen. It features an antique roller coaster and a live entertainment program, making it a magical and traditional attraction. The park is the second-oldest operating amusement park globally and one of the most popular seasonal theme parks, attracting nearly five million visitors annually.
Had such a fun day at Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen! The autumn vibes were magical, and the park looks absolutely stunning as the lights come on in the evening. I highly recommend going late afternoon so you can enjoy it in daylight and then see it sparkle at night. The food was delicious, the rides and attractions were super fun, and the whole day just felt so cozy and special. A must-visit for anyone in Copenhagen! 🎡🍂✨
Lianne H — Google review
An excellent park although off to a skeptical start when I saw the first ride we went on had a member of staff on to "pull the brake". Lots of rides to suit all with a fair number of "tummy turners". Queues were small and the facilities such as food and toilets were at a good standard. We used the Copenhagen card to get in but you need to pay extra for the rides. Was quite cold when we were there so dress appropriately. The teenage kids enjoyed it so that's a thumbs up !
Alex J — Google review
Absolutely fantastic at Christmas! So beautiful love the trees the rides and all the shops. It’s expensive to visit at £28 per person but you can go in the day and get a re entry stamp And come back in the evening to see it all lit up. Also I saw families who took a picnic with them. This is a great idea as it’s a beautiful place to have a picnic and a glass of wine in the gardens. The lake is stunning at night. It gets very busy.
Monisha A — Google review
Its ok. If you're into food? Then great there's a lot of restaurants. There's only one roller-coaster and a few other attractions. Its expensive especially since all we wanted to do was look at the Christmas decorations. It looks amazing at night all lit up but still not worth $30 dollars.
Damian R — Google review
Visited mid November, weather was pleasant during the hours of 5pm-8pm Fair amount of people about but not crowded and easy to navigate. Christmas themed throughout giving it that magic touch for this time of season. Much like the rest of Copenhagen nothing is cheap and being at the theme park its most likely a little bit more
Adam P — Google review
Tivoli Gardens was at the very top of my list when we visited Copenhagen; and it honestly exceeded every expectation. We visited in early September during the Flower Festival and the whole place felt absolutely beautiful with bursts of colour everywhere. Tivoli first opened in 1843 which is wild to think about, and you can really feel that old world charm as soon as you walk in. There’s a lovely little story that Walt Disney visited Tivoli and was so inspired by its atmosphere and attention to detail that it helped inspire Disneyland; when you’re inside, that makes complete sense. We ended up spending nearly the entire day here; wandering through the gardens, listening to jazz bands play, popping into the little Christmas shops (yes, even in September), admiring the flower competition winners and going on a few of the rides. At one point I turned to my husband and said, “I feel like a kid again.” There was something so nostalgic and joyful about it, like stepping back into the magic of childhood. There are plenty of places to eat inside Tivoli depending on what you feel like; everything from quick bites and coffee to full sit down restaurants and even the beautiful Nimb Hotel right in the middle of it all. The food court is great if you want something casual and fast before exploring more. I also loved how different the park feels as the day turns into evening; during the day it’s lush and garden like, and then at night all the twinkle lights come on and it feels dreamy and romantic. Tivoli is open in different seasons throughout the year including Halloween and Christmas; I heard that November and December are extra special because Tivoli transforms into a Christmas wonderland with decorations, lights, markets and a completely different festive atmosphere. I would honestly love to go back in December just to experience that version of the park. Opening hours change depending on the season but it stays open late enough that you don’t need to rush. My biggest tip is to give yourself enough time. This isn’t the kind of place you speed through; it’s somewhere you stroll, snack, listen to music, ride the rides and just enjoy being there. Tivoli was one of the most memorable experiences of our Copenhagen trip; if you’re visiting the city, this is a must. It’s truly one of those rare places that makes you feel happy, light and a little bit enchanted.

Excellent theme park. We visited as decorated and themed for Christmas Was surprisingly a lot better than anticipated. Prices for ultimate tickets purchased on Get your Guide . Around £45 each . Great value. Lots to see and do. Food prices are similar to those around the city

Christiansborg Palace is a must-see in Copenhagen, Denmark. It's home to the Danish Parliament, the Prime Minister's office, and the Supreme Court of Denmark. The palace also houses government and judicial offices. Visitors can explore its lavish reception rooms like the Great Hall, Tower Hall, and Oval Throne Room. Don't miss the royal kitchen and the remains of an older castle beneath the main building. The palace has a rich history spanning over 800 years and covers a large area.
I only had time to visit the royal reception rooms and the experience was already beyond my expectation. The Queen's Tapestries at the Knights' Hall were jaw-dropping. 1,100 years of Danish history were woven into 17 colourful tapestries. They were modern and educative. If I had more time, I would spend all day looking at them and try to learn the history/stories in each of them.
Rachel M — Google review
Christiansborg Palace is a historic palace in Copenhagen, Denmark, that now houses the country's three branches of government: the Parliament, the Supreme Court, and the Ministry of State. Once a royal residence, it is open to the public and features attractions like the Royal Reception Rooms, the Royal Stables, and a viewing tower with panoramic city views. Visitors can also explore the underground ruins of earlier castles that stood on the site.
Randy B — Google review
The grand, grandeur and wonderful castle in the heart of Copenhagen. What a splendid way the castle is decorated and preserved and still active. Such display of wealth is dazzling. They have visuals and videos of the historical aspect of the castle. Interesting to go through them and better for kids to enhance their knowledge.
Tas A — Google review
Visiting Christiansborg Palace was one of the highlights of my time in Copenhagen. The palace itself is a beautiful blend of history and functionality, serving as a working government building while also offering visitors a chance to explore royal reception rooms, historic halls, and underground ruins. Walking through the palace felt like stepping through layers of Danish history, where modern governance and royal tradition exist side by side. The climb to the top of the tower was absolutely worth it. The viewing platform offered one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the city. From above, I could see the colorful rooftops, winding canals, and the orderly beauty of Copenhagen stretching in every direction. The view was especially impressive because it felt peaceful and expansive, giving a sense of the city’s balance between tradition, water, and urban life. Christiansborg is a must-see for anyone who wants both rich history and a stunning perspective of Copenhagen from above. It is a perfect combination of cultural depth and unforgettable views.
Jacqueline S — Google review
Christiansborg Palace is a unique and fascinating destination in Copenhagen, blending royal splendor with the seat of modern democracy. It’s one of the only buildings in the world that houses all three branches of a country’s government — the Danish Parliament, Supreme Court, and Prime Minister’s Office — all within a former royal palace. That alone makes it worth visiting. Architecturally, Christiansborg is an imposing and elegant structure built in Neo-Baroque style with touches of Neo-Classicism, especially visible in its formal reception halls. The current palace is actually the third iteration — previous versions were destroyed by fire in 1794 and again in 1884. What you see today is the result of a rebuild completed in the early 20th century, blending old grandeur with modern sensibilities. The tall central tower is the highest in Copenhagen and offers free public access with panoramic city views. Inside, the Royal Reception Rooms are a highlight, especially the Great Hall with its striking modern tapestries depicting Danish history, designed by artist Bjørn Nørgaard. The Queen still uses these rooms for official state functions, adding a sense of living history to the experience. You can also explore the Royal Stables, the Royal Kitchen, and the underground ruins, where remnants of the medieval Bishop’s Castle and earlier palaces have been preserved. In short, Christiansborg may not have the romantic fairy-tale look of some other castles, but it offers something deeper — a powerful connection between Denmark’s royal past and its modern democracy. A rewarding and educational visit, especially for those interested in history, architecture, and politics.
Dmitry Z — Google review
I visit Christiansborg all the time as a local guide, and it’s one of those places that keeps revealing new layers. The palace sits on top of centuries of history. In the 1100s, Bishop Absalon built the first fortress here, and the remains of that medieval castle are still visible in the underground ruins. It’s a pretty wild feeling to walk below the modern parliament and stand inside what used to be Copenhagen’s very first stronghold. On my tours, I often see the royal horses in the courtyard, which always adds a bit of magic. A couple of tips if you go: ride the elevator up to the tower for one of the best panoramic free views in the city, and book a meal at Restaurant Tårnet if you have time. It’s cosy, atmospheric and a fun contrast to the political building beneath you. The museums inside the palace are also worth exploring. The royal reception rooms and the ruins under the building give you a much deeper sense of Denmark’s royal and political history. Overall, Christiansborg is one of Copenhagen’s most iconic landmarks and a must-visit if you want to understand the city properly.

Escape the hustle and bustle of Copenhagen by visiting the tranquil and romantic Copenhagen Botanical Garden. This oasis in the heart of the city is home to an impressive collection of over 13,000 plant species from around the world. The garden features specimens from the tropics, Alps, and even some hardy plants from above the Arctic Circle. It's a perfect retreat for nature lovers seeking a peaceful environment away from crowded tourist spots.
Wonderful place so visit, mostly on a sunny day. Bring a towel and enjoy laying on the grass with birds jumping around. Beautiful experience also walking around the garden and see the various kind of plants and flowers, really recommended!
Marco P — Google review
We had such a great time exploring this botanical garden. What I love most is that the entrance is free if you don’t plan to go inside the glasshouse, which makes it very accessible for everyone to enjoy. The plant biodiversity is truly impressive — from peaceful water lilies and lush greenery to carefully designed rock gardens and shaded woodland paths. Every corner feels thoughtfully maintained, and you can really sense the effort to create an environment where both plants and wildlife thrive. The pond areas are full of life, with turtles, koi fish, and birds adding so much character to the place. I even spotted a magpie and a ladybird up close, which made the visit feel even more connected to nature. It’s not just a place to see plants, but a living, breathing ecosystem where you can slow down and appreciate biodiversity in action. If you’re tired of walking in the city and need a break, this is a great place to recharge. The walking paths are varied — some open and sunny, others shaded and tranquil. It feels like you’re moving through different little worlds within one garden. I especially enjoyed the mix of open views with the sky reflected in the water and more intimate trails lined with rocks and trees. Overall, this is a beautiful spot to spend a few hours, whether you’re here for a calm walk, photography, or just to reconnect with nature. Highly recommended if you’re in the area!

Copenhagen's Botanical Garden (Botanisk Have) is an absolute gem for anyone seeking a delightful and pretty stroll in the heart of the city. It's a truly restorative oasis, perfect for a leisurely walk amidst a stunning array of plant life. You can wander along charming pathways, discovering different themed sections like the rock gardens or the serene lake with its picturesque stone bridge.
Zack E — Google review
A lovely botanical garden, filled with exotic plants and fun walks. The palm house was being renovated when we went, which was pretty cool to look at, they had a big mishmash of scaffolding and lights trying to keep the plants alive (not pictured, sorry). The signage to find your way around the construction wasn't fantastic, getting to glasshouse 2 wasn't as straightforward as it should have been. The rest of the glass houses are excellent, with a good level of information on what's going on there, much better than that silly Glyptotek. I would have liked more context, there were a few information panels that foreshadowed interesting facts, but didn't delve deeper. It felt like a place catering both extremes, people who want to look at pretty plants, and actually botanists, but it'd be nice if it had a bit more information throughout the entire garden for the people in between.. Shout out to the rock garden, of course, it's absolutely massive and got some cracking plants. Also, we went in October, with the season turning, the park section was begining to die back, still lots of nice things to see though. I'd definitely want to visit in summer. Long story short: lovely plants, give me more plant facts.

The Botanical Garden in Copenhagen is a peaceful and beautifully maintained green escape in the heart of the city. Right at the entrance there’s a small shop where you can buy seed packets for growing various flowers, as well as peppers, tomatoes, and more. This time I didn’t visit the indoor greenhouse area, but I’d definitely love to explore it during my next visit. A wonderful spot for nature lovers and anyone looking to unwind.

The Botanical Garden in Copenhagen felt like a hidden pocket of peace right in the middle of the city. As soon as you step inside, you notice how calm and green it is, even though you’re still in the center. The paths wind beautifully through the garden, and you keep discovering new plants and flowers along the way. I really enjoyed just sitting on a bench for a while and taking it all in. It can get a bit busier on weekends, but the atmosphere stays relaxed. If you’re looking for a little escape from the city buzz, this is the perfect spot.

Landbohøjskolens Have, also known as the Horticultural Gardens, is a charming and serene park nestled within the city of Frederiksberg. Affiliated with the University of Copenhagen, this hidden gem offers a diverse array of plants and trees, making it an ideal hands-on learning environment for students and a delightful haven for visitors. The park features flower beds, shaded benches, narrow paths, groves, and a picturesque rose garden with both modern and historical roses.
A beautiful, extremely well maintained park! So many small pathways leading always very nicely close to the plants but in a way that makes you feel like you are on an adventure. There was a beautiful array of flowers and plants you don't normally see. There is a good amount of grass space around for the sun worshippers. Lots of bins and benches. This small park is very well maintained and has a lot of beautiful and interesting flowers, bushes and majestic very old trees. All plants have a name tag with the Latin name as well as the Danish name. The park was very peaceful when I visited and felt like a very nice place to relax. There are many benches in the whole park so you can find a spot that suits your mood and preferences. Definitely worth a visit.

This small park is a gem hidden away in Copenhagen (Frederiksberg). It is being kept but the gardener students of the school that is situated right next to the park. Every plant, tree, bush, etc. has a small sign telling the name of the species. This makes the place feel so serene, because you can really go on a journey and get to know the names of so many things, you might not have known already. The are a bunch of small pathways leading through the trees and bushes, making a walk through the park feel adventurous and magical. It is not allowed to play ball/throw freesbee, listen to music on a speaker, grill, bring dogs or bicycle. This makes the park enormously calm and quiet. So if you wanna go for a peaceful stroll or wanna sun bath (should the sun ever be out 😉) then this is the place to visit. I highly recommend this park! One of my favorite green spots in Copenhagen 💜

Designed to promote tolerance and unity between local people and immigrants. It was fun to visit, but it had a bit of a run-down feeling to the area. The area is accessible to people who use a wheelchair, but there was not any specialist play equipment for disabled people to use.

One of the more interesting Copenhagen museums. The collection of instruments is not as extensive as, for example, in Berlin (especially clavier), comparable to the collection in Barcelona, but several souvenirs of Beethoven and Mozart are unique. Very interesting atmosphere of the Conservatory. unique decor, the smell of old wood in the corridors... Worth a visit! The only minus is the lack of a lift (or we didn't notice it).
Jacek M — Google review
Great musuem! Very modern, each display has an area you can scan using the tablet provided with the ticket, giving you all the translated information and more about the display. There are also a lot of interactive elements which are great fun! Could of easily spend 3hrs+ there!

I first visited this museum at its old home around 9 years ago and have wanted to go back ever since. It's new home is a bit clinical compared to its last but it is still well worth a visit. Some of the instruments are amazing - mind boggling, I mean who on earth designed them?? Or even first thought of the concepts? The man on the desk was extremely helpful, giving us the tablets with the English translations for all the exhibits, and more information about the actual museum. The only thing I cannot understand about this place - why is it so quiet? A museum such as this should be be full, busy, but it is so quiet - we were there a couple of hours and no-one else came in (also saw a similar note in their visitor book). If you fancy a fascinating option of what to do in Copenhagen, here it is!

Rosenborg Castle is a historic site in central Copenhagen, best known for housing the Danish Crown Jewels and Royal Regalia. The rooms are well-preserved and give a good overview of Denmark’s royal history. The Treasury in the basement is a highlight. The surrounding King’s Garden is open to the public and great for a walk. Worth a visit if you're interested in history or culture. Buy tickets in advance to avoid lines.

Rosenborg Castle is a wonderful place to visit: full of history, charm, and beautifully preserved treasures. The interiors and royal collections are fascinating. However, the exhibition lighting could be improved, as some areas were quite dim and it was difficult to see certain displays clearly. Overall, still a great experience and definitely worth visiting!

Well truely a marvel of the history. Absolutely loved the aura of the castle and its surroundings. There is big park and lake in front of the castle. It is easy to get to the place, thanks to the well connected public transport systems. The architecture of the castle is something that is worth mentioning. I would recommend to read and learn about the history of the palace before visiting it so that you can just relive the past and get a feel of the same. If you are planning to go in a weekend, be prepared to wait for sometime as there would be rush.

Not wheel chair accessible. My first ever Royal Castle. Be prepared for low light conditions. The history is right up and close as I have ever been in a museum setting. So respect the access. I loved looking at all the fine quality work completed by the period artisans and amazing quality especially all the inlay works in wood, tile & gems. Stunning if you live feeling the history. The Royal Treasury is exceptional and shows what was valued and when. Even in October when I went the Gardens were blooming.

Beautiful and well-kept heritage. I tried to visit the day after the Copenhagen half-marathon, but I didn't have time to get tickets online so that I couldn't get inside. I recommend buying tickets in advance. However, upon walking around, I can say that this is one of the most beautiful castles I have seen recently, compared to what I saw in England.

Cool old castle. Lots of history. Some interesting stuff that you don't normally see in a castle like a farting chair and a king's toilet. This is like the old and more castle-ish version of Danish aristocratic housing. For the real palace feel of the monarchy visit Christiansborg Palace. The royal family actually live in nearby Amelienborg.
Michael L — Google review
Beautiful site and an easy walk from the waterfront. You can also peek at the King’s Gardens out back — immaculately kept, of course. The day pass is worth it for convenient access to the castle. Free lockers are a nice touch, and the guards with bayonets add a bit of royal drama. Inside, the halls are filled with art and artifacts — the grand hall with the thrones and lion statues is a standout. Don’t miss the Crown Jewels in the walk-in vault downstairs, complete with a step ladder for the perfect view. A truly regal visit, well worth the stop.

Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek is a captivating fine art museum that showcases a diverse collection of ancient Mediterranean sculptures, 19th-century French and Danish artworks. The museum offers an immersive experience for art enthusiasts, featuring artifacts from ancient civilizations such as Egypt, Greece, and Rome. Visitors can also explore the impressive winter garden within the museum's premises, providing a picturesque setting for artistic inspiration.
Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek is an absolute treasure for anyone who appreciates timeless art and refined curation. From the moment you walk through its grand halls, you’re transported into a world of elegance, history, and cultural richness. The museum is beautifully maintained, and every space — from the central winter garden to the majestic marble galleries — feels thoughtfully preserved and respectfully presented. I especially loved the vast collection of classical art — Greek, Roman, and Egyptian antiquities that are truly world-class. The 19th-century Danish and French collections, with works by artists like Rodin, Degas, and Gauguin, are equally impressive and thoughtfully displayed. One of the biggest highlights is the rooftop terrace, which offers stunning panoramic views over Copenhagen. It’s peaceful, not overly crowded, and provides a perfect pause between exhibits. I truly appreciated that this museum didn’t overload the experience with disjointed, ultra-modern bizarre conceptual art that many other museums now seem obsessed with. Here, the focus remains where it should: on quality, craftsmanship, and the enduring power of the classical tradition. The Nordic and Germanic nations have a rich cultural legacy, and the Glyptotek honors that brilliantly. The staff was kind, professional, and welcoming — clearly proud of the institution they help run. Whether you’re an art lover, a history enthusiast, or simply someone who values beauty over trends, this place is a must-visit in Copenhagen.

Beautiful museum! I absolutely love when museums are filled with statues and this one was filled with them! The building is stunning as well, with sort of an indoor garden by the entrance and big rooms filled with artwork. There’s also a rooftop which was a surprise and has a stunning view of Copenhagen. The reason why I’m not giving them more stars is because of how rude the staff were in the mummy section. There were two young boys (staff apparently) who kept whispering and talking to each other without caring there were people in the room. It completely ruined the vibe and I felt really uncomfortable. I understand it gets boring down there and you need to pass the time, but could you NOT talk when people are there? The amusement park is next door so you will probably hear some screams thought out the museum which was also creepy at times but inevitable. Overall I recommend it. I spent around 2/3 hours there and think I managed to see most of it. You can purchase the ticket online with the QR by the entrance and it’s cheaper. Video of the cute plushies! So expensive tho.

A must-visit museum in Copenhagen! The Glyptotek is absolutely stunning, a perfect blend of art, history, and architecture. The collection ranges from ancient sculptures to impressionist masterpieces, beautifully displayed in serene galleries. The central winter garden is breathtaking, and the overall atmosphere feels peaceful and inspiring. I could easily spend hours here. Truly one of Copenhagen’s cultural gems!
Giorgos G — Google review
Glyptoteket is, hands down, the most beautiful museum in Copenhagen. The atmosphere inside is incredible – there’s really nothing else like it, especially when you walk through the Winter Garden. It’s such a peaceful and stunning space. The exhibitions are great too, especially if you’re into ancient Greek and Roman culture. That’s definitely my favourite part of the museum. I also really enjoy the Egyptian section, and it’s super cool to go downstairs and see the mummies. They do have other exhibitions with paintings, but that’s not really my thing, so I usually skip those. For me, it’s all about walking around and admiring the statues
Anne L — Google review
I think this might be one of my favorite museums I have visited in my life so far. The statues were incredibly moving and beautiful, and the interior of the museum was breathtaking, every corner is designed with such attention to detail. The exhibitions are also very interesting, and I would definitely recommend a visit to anyone coming to Copenhagen. The museum also has a restaurant and bar where you can enjoy a drink or a snack, as well as a shop with unique items if you’d like to take something home. Plan at least 1 to 2 hours for your visit. Unfortunately, we only had 45 minutes since we arrived close to closing time, but it was still worth it!
Arzu A — Google review
One of my favourite museums in the world, absolutely love the range of art and artists. Impressive selection of French artists, if you love sculpture then it is a great place to visit. It’s also a beautiful, well curated environment to boot.

Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek is one of Denmark’s most iconic art museums, founded by the Carlsberg brewery’s visionary creator. The museum houses thousands of rare and precious works — from Ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome to 19th-century European masterpieces by renowned artists like Rodin, Degas, and Gauguin. A unique highlight is the Winter Garden, a stunning indoor oasis filled with lush greenery and natural light — the perfect place to pause and soak in the timeless atmosphere between the galleries. Good to know: Admission is free on the last Wednesday of each month, so don’t miss the chance to explore this world-class collection at no cost.

Beautiful museum with a wonderful indoor garden/courtyard, ancient Greek and Roman sculptures, and an amazing Ancient Egypt exhibit with real mummies and art from 5,000 years ago. They also have interesting audio to listen to where you can put on headphones and listen to an expert describe more about the art. I listened to the one where an expert on hieroglyphs described what an ancient stele was describing. One of my favorite museums. Good to note if you want to go that buying tickets online is cheaper.

The National Museum of Denmark, housed in an 18th-century mansion, is a captivating journey through the country's history and culture. From prehistoric artifacts to modern exhibits, the museum offers an extensive collection that appeals to history enthusiasts, families, and anyone curious about Denmark's cultural tapestry. Visitors can explore Viking relics, medieval treasures, and ethnographic displays. The Children's Museum provides interactive entertainment for kids with a range of activities including exploring vintage toys and dressing up like historical figures.
I was only intending to pop in and have a quick look but ended up spending most of the day there, looking at all of the various rooms and displays. There is a lot to see and is a great place to see aspects of Danish history as well as other cultures. I am generally not a museum fan, but this was an eye-opener! There is a fantastic cafe too for the midday break.
Victor ( — Google review
The museum takes you on a fascinating journey through different historical periods, guiding you from one age to another in a thoughtfully organized layout. From the outside, it appears rather modest in size, but once inside, it reveals a surprisingly vast and intricate space. I actually found it easy to lose my sense of direction there—not unpleasantly so, but in that way where every turn leads to another hidden room or unexpected display. The collection itself is impressive. Many ornaments, tools, fabrics, and even preserved human remains are remarkably well-maintained, offering a vivid glimpse into the past. The diversity of materials on display—ranging from everyday items to ceremonial artifacts—makes the experience rich and engaging for history enthusiasts. However, the space does show signs of wear. Some of the doors are noticeably old, creaky, and could use maintenance. The walls and ceilings in certain areas have peeling paint or water stains, which somewhat take away from the immersive atmosphere. A bit of renovation would go a long way in enhancing the visitor experience and doing justice to the fascinating collection housed within. The museum shop, while convenient, felt a bit underwhelming. The items were fairly standard and lacked the kind of creativity or uniqueness one might expect from such a distinctive museum. There's definitely room for more inspired and memorable souvenirs.

AMAZING place! We were blown away by the huge collection of ancient artifacts. This museum has an extensive collection of pieces that are in fantastic condition, or really well restored. We spent hours and did not even get to the Danish history section. There is an interesting multidimensional Viking exhibit that was "interesting". Worth the visit.

A great place to learn about history of Denmark. I was lucky to be there during the Viking Sorceress exhibition. It was super cool! The staff was friendly and helpful. A lot of runes and norse god souvenirs were available at the museum store, too.

Good big museum with multiple levels and buildings! Vast varieties of many contents and really interesting things to see! There is a little children playground in the middle of the complex but only for children and with an extra fees. (I saw a Viking set up with a guys dress in the Viking style but we can't go in as an adult 😞) The Doll House section was super impressive with the number and size of the room and a day and night alternative as well! Many cool facts and items to see and read through! You can easily spend a couple hours to just even walk through all the rooms! Definitely a very interesting place to visit in Copenhagen!
Penny G — Google review
The National Museum of Denmark is an essential stop for anyone with an interest in Viking heritage, Norse mythology, or the broader story of Denmark’s past. The Viking exhibition is especially impressive — featuring original swords, rune stones, burial artifacts, and mythological pieces that truly evoke the spirit of the Norse world. The displays are thoughtful and immersive, making the history feel very much alive. The museum also offers an excellent overview of Denmark’s transformation from early tribal societies into a European maritime kingdom. The royal and military exhibits provide fascinating insights into diplomacy, warfare, and national identity through the centuries. One of the highlights for me was how seamlessly the museum combines archaeological discoveries with historical storytelling. It’s well-curated, deeply informative, and emotionally resonant — especially for those passionate about Nordic culture. A quick note for summer visitors: some galleries can feel extremely warm due to limited airflow in certain areas. It’s a good idea to bring water and wear lighter clothing if you’re visiting on a hot day. That said, the richness of the exhibits more than makes up for it. Highly recommended for history lovers and curious minds alike!
Dmitry Z — Google review
This museum provides an incredibly comprehensive overview of the history of Denmark. The scale of the exhibits is very extensive so it may be suggest to plan your visit carefully depending on your areas of interest. The upper floors of the museum have a great selection of exhibits about Danish history from the Early-Modern period of the 1600s to the modern day. There is also a fascinating permanent exhibition about the history and legacy of Denmark’s colonial empire and makes a significant effort to assess the positive and negative impacts of this colonial legacy across Africa, China, Greenland, Iceland, India, and the Danish West Indies (now the US Virgin Islands) using modern interviews and historical perspectives and first person accounts to enhance the exhibits on display.

Stroget is a famous pedestrian boulevard in Copenhagen, known for its wide range of shops, cafes, and even a Guinness museum. In the 1960s, due to increasing traffic and crowded narrow streets in central Copenhagen, the City Council decided to create a car-free zone from Town Hall Square to Kongens Nytorv, establishing Stroget as the world's oldest and longest pedestrian street system at almost 3.2 km.

Amalienborg Palace, an exquisite 18th-century rococo complex in Copenhagen, serves as the winter residence for the Danish monarchy. This remarkable ensemble consists of four distinct palaces—Brockdorfske, Levetzaus, Moltkes, and Schackske—each showcasing stunning architecture and rich history. Surrounding a grand plaza, these palatial structures were adopted by the royal family in 1794 after a devastating fire at Christiansborg Castle.
Visited Amalienborg Palace on a rainy Sunday 🇩🇰. It’s famous for the Changing of the Guard ceremony that starts sharp at 12 noon and lasts about 30 minutes ⏰. Even with the rain, the square was fully packed! If you want a front-row view, reach by 11:45. For us, it was an okay experience — interesting to watch just once.

I had the pleasure of visiting this magnificent palace, and it truly felt like stepping back in time into a world of royalty. The interiors are grand and beautifully preserved, with multiple sections showcasing how the royals once lived. From the opulent living quarters and lavish dining halls to the intricately designed courtyards, every corner tells a story of elegance and power. What stood out to me most was the attention to detail—exquisite furniture, ornate chandeliers, and priceless artifacts that reflect a royal lifestyle at its peak. The guided displays made it easy to understand the history and appreciate the traditions behind each room. Walking through the palace, I could almost imagine the grandeur of royal gatherings and ceremonies that once filled these halls. Overall, it’s a place where history and beauty come together perfectly. If you want to experience the charm of a royal lifestyle, this palace is a must-visit.

We came here with the intention of observing the Changing of the Guards. It starts at 12, so try to be there at 11:30 for a better stand spot. Because lots and lots of people come to see this. Bring hat and sunglasses during summer season. If you are interested in these come otherwise enjoy the castle. You have to buy tickets for the castle and check timing.

Truely amazing.. i had visited Amelienborg palace with my family in the month of May.. just was spell bound by the beauty and architectural marvel of the same. The whole palace was worth watching again and again from each and every angle. As we had visited on a weekend there was really a big crowd which really added to the enrichment of the ambience.. We had planned to reach there to watch the famous change of guard event. It was so awesome.. even though it is something that happens on a daily basis but the accuracy and precision of the event is something to adore for.. From accessibility perspective we have the well established punlic transportation of Copenhagen.. A must watch if you are visiting Copenhagen..

Go at 11:30am to get a good view of the changing of the guard. They push everyone back behind the black lines of the quad closest to the brown doors/left of the entry pillars if you want a good view, but the guards do a march around the while Palace eventually. We also saw the marching band through the town which was cool!

Amalienborg Palace square, Copenhagen, Denmark. This complex has four elegant, Rococo style palaces that surround an octagonal central courtyard. It is close to the Nyhavn Harbour and the Marble Church. Some parts of the complex like the Amalienborg Museum or the Christian VIII's Palace, are open to public (unfortunately, due to lack of time, we could not get into the museum). The daily change of Royal guard ceremony also takes place in the square. The central figure of the square is a large bronze statue of King Frederick V, unveiled in 1771, symbolizing the complete power of the king. Frederik's Church or Marble Church, with its copper green dome serves as the official residence of the Danish Royal family. It lies in alignment with the main Palace and the Copenhagen Opera House. The architectural details of these buildings are clear, well maintained and a wonderful sight to behold. One can actually walk around the square and revel the beauty of these structures, our group did just that during the month of July 2025.

Frederik's Church, also known as The Marble Church or Marmorkirken, is a renowned Lutheran church situated in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark. This 18th-century church boasts impressive rococo architecture and is famous for its grand dome, one of the largest in Scandinavia at 31 meters in diameter. The exterior is clad with Norwegian and Danish marble, giving it a distinctive appearance that sets it apart from other European churches.
It’s a grand and magnificent church, especially the dome, which is both tall and spacious. Despite the crowds, it still manages to maintain a peaceful and serene atmosphere.

Also known as the Marble Church, is one of Copenhagen’s most beautiful landmarks and absolutely worth a visit. Its massive dome dominates the skyline and is one of the largest in Europe, making it a striking sight both up close and from a distance. The interior is equally impressive, with stunning architecture, serene atmosphere, and a sense of grandeur that feels both welcoming and awe-inspiring. Visitors can also climb up to the dome on certain days, which is a highlight for those who enjoy city views. From the top, you get a unique perspective over Copenhagen, including Amalienborg Palace and the harbor area. Entry to the church itself is free, which makes it an easy stop to fit into any city itinerary. It’s good to check ahead for opening times and whether dome access is available during your visit, as it’s not open every day. The church is active, so be mindful if a service is in session. Overall, Frederik’s Church is a must-see for anyone interested in architecture, history, or simply enjoying one of the most iconic and peaceful spots in the city.

Just to the opposite of the Amalienborg castle, this church just matches up to it. The exterior of the mosque is so gigantic and massive looking that it still holds beauty and grandeur. Inside the church is very spacious and the dome makes it look even bigger. What an architectural marvel!

The Marble Church is always a highlight on my walks. I pass by it several times a week on my walk and ferry tour, and every time I’m reminded of how impressive it really is. The huge dome, the elegant details in the façade and the open space around the church create a calm and majestic atmosphere. Inside, the acoustics and the circular room are beautiful, and even guests who normally don’t pay much attention to architecture are usually quite impressed. It’s one of those places where Copenhagen feels both peaceful and grand at the same time. If you’re visiting the area around Amalienborg or Frederiksstaden, this is definitely a place you shouldn’t miss.

Frederik’s Church, also known as The Marble Church, is one of the most beautiful landmarks in Copenhagen. Its impressive dome, inspired by St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, is the largest church dome in Scandinavia. The foundation stone was laid in 1749 by King Frederik V, but due to financial difficulties the construction took more than 100 years and was finally completed in 1894. The church is free to enter, and the interior is just as breathtaking as the outside, with stunning marble details and a peaceful atmosphere. If you have the chance, climb up to the dome for an amazing panoramic view of the city. A must-visit if you are in Copenhagen!

Kastellet is a well-preserved 17th-century star-shaped fortress in northern Europe. It hosts various events and concerts and is a must-see attraction in Copenhagen. The area also features other notable sites such as the iconic Little Mermaid Statue, Kings Garden, Botanical Garden, Freetown Christiania, Superkilen Park, Frederiksberg Park, and Assistens Kirkegard.

Combine your visit to the Little Mermaid with this Military Fort Visited on Thursday, 31st July 2025, after being dropped off to see the Little Mermaid Statue, I took the opportunity to visit this army barracks. Still an active army site, so the access was limited, but what you could see was wonderful and provided the opportunity to walk the moat mounds that surround the fort. Cycling isn't allowed, but it appears the site is not supervised.

I visited Kastellet in August and it quickly became one of my favorite places in Copenhagen. The fortress is beautifully preserved, with its colorful red and yellow buildings and the iconic Danish flag creating a picture-perfect setting. Walking along the star-shaped ramparts gave me great views of the city and the harbor, and I loved the calm, peaceful atmosphere despite being so close to the center. It’s the kind of place where you can take your time, enjoy the history, and relax in the green surroundings. A wonderful spot that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Copenhagen!

The Citadel is far more than just a tourist attraction and it is fascinating to watch tourists, the Danish military and members of the public coexist in the sprawling complex. Young cadets man both the entrances to manage car traffic but you can otherwise see joggers, curious tourists and other pedestrians walk freely in and out enjoying the pleasant sights and 360 degree views. It is well worth a visit and spending around an hour to check out the inner fortification as well as the battlements, as it is effectively a living museum.

I've been to several locations from this chain and have usually had good experiences, but unfortunately, this one was the least impressive. The salad was pretty mediocre — not very fresh or flavorful. The pulled pork sandwich was just okay, nothing special. If you are lucky, jazz sessions live groups are on or if not then you can listen music from a video wall playing MTV clips!!

Amazing venue in the heart of Copenhagen. Seriously one of the best burgers I've had in Denmark 🇩🇰. Great live music venue and resturant with fantastic staff. It's super cool checking out all the memorabilia from famous Rockstars. Very clean and really well run. A great experience and a must visit if you're in Copenhagen.

Nestled in the picturesque Langelinie Park along the Osterbro harborfront, the Gefion Fountain is a stunning bronze masterpiece completed in 1908. This impressive fountain showcases the Norse goddess Gefion, who is depicted plowing with four mighty oxen. According to legend, she transformed her sons into these powerful creatures to carve out Zealand from Sweden's land.
A beautiful designed fountain right by a church and the harbour, not too busy despite a hot and sunny day, the sound of the water is soothing. The stature on the fountain is stunning with a great mythical story behind it - the creation of Zealand by the Norse goddess.
Jamie H — Google review
Ah, the Gefion Fountain! It's not just a fountain; it's a splashy, storytelling masterpiece right in the heart of Copenhagen. Forget your average, run-of-the-mill water feature—this one comes with a full-blown creation myth! You're not just looking at a beautiful bronze statue; you're witnessing the birth of an island, all thanks to a goddess and her four oxen. It's like a watery comic book come to life, and frankly, it's the best kind of public art. It perfectly captures that wonderful Copenhagen spirit of blending history, art, and public space into something truly special. A must-see for anyone who loves a good legend with their sightseeing!
Ali K — Google review
The Gefion Fountain is absolutely stunning and shouldn't be missed. It’s not just a static sculpture; it’s a powerful story brought to life in bronze and water. You can almost feel the raw energy as the goddess Gefion drives her formidable oxen forward. The scale is impressive, and the cascading water adds a dramatic flair that makes for incredible photos. It's perfectly located near the Kastellet and a lovely walk from The Little Mermaid, making it an essential part of any waterfront stroll in Copenhagen. A truly beautiful piece of art and mythology combined.
David B — Google review
The Gefion Fountain is one of Copenhagen’s most striking landmarks. The bronze figures and the powerful water flow create a dramatic scene, and its location between Kastellet and the harbor makes it a perfect stop on any walk. The story behind the sculpture is great to know, but even if you don’t know it, the fountain is just a beautiful place to pause and take in the surroundings.
Michael O — Google review
The Gefion Fountain isn’t your typical city fountain—it’s a dramatic blend of art, myth, and movement that instantly captures attention. Here, the Norse goddess Gefion is shown driving four powerful oxen, a scene tied to an old legend about the creation of Zealand, Denmark’s largest island. The energy of the bronze figures combined with the cascading water gives the whole monument a sense of life and motion. It’s more than a landmark—it’s a celebration of storytelling through sculpture, and a brilliant example of how Copenhagen weaves its history and folklore into the fabric of the city. A definite highlight for anyone exploring the capital.
Vidya H — Google review
One of the highlights of the trip for me. Sure, many cities have large fountains that become their calling card but very few allow visitors to get this close to the point where you can literally touch the water, should you wish. I do not think all of the jets were on when I visited but it must be quite the sight when that happens. Be sure to take your photo in front of the Norse gods, as the correct angle looks very impressive.
Andrew M — Google review
Fountain is majestic looking. From the top it has a different view as well as from the bottom. Take some time here to enjoy this marvel view. Water gashes out and the rippling nose makes it more magical.

This is a beautiful place but not big. What makes it nice & good combination is the church beside. If you go to see the little mermaid, couldn't miss it. And also a park around this is so relaxing.

SMK – Statens Museum for Kunst, also known as the National Gallery of Denmark, is a must-visit destination in Copenhagen. It boasts an extensive collection of over 260,000 artworks, making it the largest art collection in the country. The museum is housed in two interconnected buildings: a Renaissance-style structure and a modern extension.
Great and very large museum. Walk through various galleries including a large collection of Danish, French/ European artists. They have renaissance and modern spaces. With pieces by many masters. Plan on spending at least two hours. They also have a good size gift shop and a café.
Alan Y — Google review
I really enjoyed my visit to SMK, especially the impressive collection of classic art. The Danish Golden Age section was a true highlight for me — the works by Eckersberg, Købke, and other 19th-century masters beautifully capture both the mood and light of the time. It’s a must-see if you appreciate finely detailed, skillful painting rooted in tradition and national identity. However, I have to be honest: the upper floor, which houses a lot of modern and contemporary art, wasn’t my cup of tea. Some of it felt extremely bizarre. Much of it felt overly abstract and strange, and didn’t resonate with me at all. Still, that’s a matter of personal taste — if you're a fan of experimental modern pieces, you may feel differently, I presume. Overall, a wonderful museum for classical art lovers, especially if you want to dive into Denmark’s rich artistic heritage. Just be prepared for a very different vibe upstairs (to say the least)!
Dmitry Z — Google review
A true cultural highlight in Copenhagen I visit SMK – The National Gallery of Denmark – quite often, both privately and when guiding guests through the city, and it never disappoints. The mix of classical masterpieces and bold contemporary art makes it one of the most inspiring museums in Copenhagen. The layout is airy and welcoming, and I always appreciate how well the museum connects historic Nordic art with modern expressions. If you’re interested in Danish artists such as Hammershøi or the Golden Age painters, this is the best place to experience them. The museum café is also worth a stop – it’s a peaceful spot overlooking the park, perfect for a break during your visit. My tip: arrive early and visit on a weekday if possible, as it’s a popular cultural attraction. Whether you're an art lover or simply curious about local culture, SMK offers a deep and beautifully curated insight into Denmark’s artistic heritage. Highly recommended.
Michael O — Google review
I visited the museum on a weekday right after it opened and it was so calm and relaxing. Great exhibition on different eras of Danish art (mostly paintings) and how it is related to general art movements in Europe at the time. A few really breathtaking pieces.

Tremendous collection! Definitely worth a visit. The building in itself is a beauty. Temporary exhibit focused on surrealists which was interesting. The lightning all throughout was very well done. Highly recommend.

this museum is definitely worth visiting! it has a huge selection of european art and nordic art. the curation of the halls was excellent and in some halls there were some nicely placed walls for some of the more valuable exhibits. the staff was professional and helpful. the museum had a lot to offer, i even got some catalogs for a very low price! i had a wonderful experience in this gallery even though i had less than an hour.

A great museum, beautiful interesting pieces. There is mainly one floor with two very big exhibitions, and an indoor sculpture lane. A bit expensive but we spent more than two great hours there. They also give papers and pencils in several points so you can draw freely. Could have been better with a guide but still recommend

The David Collection is a unique museum housed in an 18th-century building, offering a diverse range of art and artifacts. Visitors can explore Islamic art, European porcelain, and Danish paintings all under one roof. The museum's serene atmosphere provides the perfect setting to appreciate these cultural treasures.
A quite hidden gem in the Copenhagen arts scene. This museum shows a vast collection of islamic and oriental art pieces in a former private residence. Intimate, mysterious and free to visit.
Victor B — Google review
Visited the islamic arts part of the collection, biggest islamic art collection in europe they say and the amount of pieces were REALLY impressive but most pieces were stacked on top of another so i've had the pull the drawers to be able to see all those pieces manually with my hand to be able to see them so that was quite a challenge for me to see all the miniature, textile and calligraphy pieces and especially at those areas lightning was terrible aswell and i've had hard time to be able to see the details which were important for those pieces of art especially, it's quite sad how important pieces of history for the whole world is in the hands of those who don't really care about neither the history nor the art itself but most probably holding those pieces for their values or their status and lastly all the descriptions only the exception of some brief history ones were in danish which everyone interested in this exhibition probably know the danish language i guess? only some of the brief history parts were in english and they were written from a western perspective and didn't seem to clash with the pieces of art that is being showed there imo so overall it was good to see all these pieces of history but they were the only thing that was good about this museum. -small venue -bad lightning -danish descriptions -great pieces of art and history those pieces deserve a better place, couldn't really understand how they got here in the first place.
Barış M — Google review
The collection of Eastern art is extremely extensive and interesting, divided by country of origin. Going through the museum you feel like you are winding your way through streets and allies. There you can find everything from plates through jewelry to tiles and gobelins. The lower collection of European art isn’t something as spectacular as the eastern one, but the exhibitions shown for a time vere excellent too. Even tho the building itself was changed to an art gallery from a normal house, where David resided it’s totally accessible with elevators.
Kamil D — Google review
A very interesting museum/ collection. Very diverse and cultural. The only thing is that in the Islamic Department there are Coptic (Egyptian) Christian pieces that they don't mention.

The King's Garden, also known as the Rosenberg Garden, is a historic parkland and garden complex established in the 17th century. It features tree-lined paths, pavilions, and several iconic attractions such as The Little Mermaid Statue. This free-to-visit green space is located in the heart of Copenhagen and offers a serene escape from the bustling city center.
The King’s Garden in Copenhagen is absolutely beautiful and one of the highlights of the city. The gardens are perfectly kept, with colorful flowerbeds, wide lawns, and tree-lined paths that make it a wonderful place to walk, relax, or have a picnic. You also get a great view of Rosenborg Castle, which adds even more charm to the atmosphere. It feels both historic and peaceful at the same time. In the summer, the garden is lively with families, friends, and events, yet there are always quiet corners where you can sit and enjoy the surroundings. Truly a must-visit spot when in Copenhagen!

King’s Garden is a beautiful green space right beside Rosenborg Castle 🌳🏰, right in the heart of Copenhagen. On a sunny day, the greenery and blue sky make it absolutely stunning 🌤️. You get a great view of the castle from the garden and can click some lovely photos 📸. Note — there’s no direct entry from Rosenborg Castle, the garden has a separate entrance outside. A peaceful and must-visit spot in the city 🇩🇰.
YG T — Google review
We absolutely loved visiting Kongens Have (also known as the King’s Garden) in Copenhagen; we could easily have spent the whole day there if we hadn’t had other plans. It is stunning, quiet, beautifully maintained and full of charm. We visited in early September, and the temperature was still warm so it was so lovely to meander through the grounds and then lie under a big tree on the grass, looking up at the sky and letting time slow down. The garden first opened in the early 1600s (established around 1606) and is one of Copenhagen’s oldest and most beloved public parks. Within its bounds you’ll see the old royal palace (we spotted the castle exterior that day, though we didn’t go inside), beautiful statues, flowerbeds, leafy lawns, old trees and plenty of shady spots offering respite from the sun. The scale of the garden is impressive! It feels massive, open, friendly and surprisingly peaceful even though it’s still in the heart of the city. We found it incredibly romantic; the kind of place perfect for a stroll, a picnic and an afternoon just watching the world go by. The shady benches, the open lawns, the mix of people relaxing and families playing was so lovely to see. We found a spot under a large tree, laid out on the grass and just looked up at the sky, breathing in the calm. The garden is free to enter and open daily; typically it opens early in the morning and closes after sunset (hours vary by season). During the summer months the park stays open quite late, often until 10pm or later when daylight allows. In winter the closing time is earlier. Because we visited in September, we had plenty of daylight and didn’t feel rushed at all. If you are visiting Copenhagen, I highly recommend taking time to wander through Kongens Have. It’s peaceful, gorgeous, accessible and a perfect place for a little escape in the city.

The King's Garden (Kongens Have) is a must-visit in Copenhagen! Dating back to 1606, it blends royal history with peaceful gree spaces. Stroll past statues, fountains, and colorful flowerbeds, relax near the Hercules Pavilion, or enjoy a sunny picnic. Open daily with free entry, it's perfect for both history lovers and anyone seeking calm in the heart of the city

The Rosenborg Castle is free to walk around and enjoy. I did not go in...The exterior is lovely...you can then walk next door to the King's Garden/Park and see the gardens, the tree-lined walkway and the espalted garden...the rose bushes were extraordinary...especially a newer yellow species developed in Germany.

The King’s Garden just next to the hotel was a great place to hang out. As it was a sunny day, it was a nice place to walk and soak in the sunshine. To end off the evening, we got some biscuits from Netto for our breakfast tomorrow as well as some chips for our little picnic at the King’s Garden in the evening. The sun was to set about 9pm this evening so we had plenty of sun in the gardens which we enjoyed... For the full details of our 5 months Round the World (RTW) travels, visit 2bearbear today!

Cracking garden this, lovely grounds, nice wide pavements and big open spaces to have fun in the middle of the city. The planted areas are looking a bit worse for wear, it being autumn, but there still showing signs of being tenderly cared for. I can only imagine how good it looks in summer. There are fun statues around the park as well, a walk around it whilst killing time before you go to the airport is well recommended.

Assistens Cemetery, established in 1760, is not just a burial site but also a cultural center and a beautiful park. The more than 250-year-old cemetery features tree-lined pathways, rhododendron bushes, and ancient tombs that create a tranquil and cheerful atmosphere. Visitors can stroll through the lush green gardens while paying respects to some of Copenhagen's most famous citizens like Soren Kierkegaard and Hans Christian Andersen.
A peaceful and beautiful cemetery that is the burial place of many famous Danish people. The cemetery is split into sections that are alphabetically labeled. There are maps throughout to help you find your way around. The maps, also, list where the location of the famous burial places. There are hard surface paths around the cemetery. However, many plots require you to go down dirt paths. These are muddy and slippery in bad weather, so ensure you are wearing suitable footwear. The site is accessible to people who use a wheelchair or have mobility issues. You would have to decide on an individual basis whether to go off track as that would be dependent on weather and the lack of space between graves in some areas. There are toilets in the cemetery. I did not use them, but I was informed that they are accessible.
Shelley C — Google review
This is a beautiful and peaceful place to walk, especially on sunny days. It feels more like a quiet park than a cemetery. Many people come with their families or as couples, and you often see others riding bikes or having a picnic on the grass. The paths are wide and shaded, and the atmosphere is calm and inviting. It is also a place of cultural and historical importance, where you can find the graves of well-known Danish writers, scientists, and other prominent figures. A special spot where everyday life and history gently come together.
David — Google review
If you’re looking for a dramatic cemetery, this isn’t the place. It is a lovely, park-like atmosphere, with many famous graves. However, all of the “famous” headstones seem to be recent replacements, which really saps the historical element. The paths where biking is allowed are clearly marked. Don’t trust Google Maps bike directions, which kept sending us on non-biking paths. It also kept showing us exits that weren’t open.

The Guinness World Records Museum in Copenhagen is a family-friendly attraction featuring interactive exhibits showcasing world records in sports, science, and architecture. Visitors can explore mind-blowing displays of cool, weird, and grotesque records. The museum targets children with engaging games and activities that allow them to test their skills against world records. While older visitors may find it less captivating, the museum offers an entertaining experience for families with curious kids.
This is definitely one of the best museums I visited while vacationing in Denmark! For me it was worth every penny. You get to learn the different Guinness records plus I love that it's an interactive museum. There are other stuff I would like to mention but I don't want to spoil it for those that have never been there. I highly recommend people to check it out, you won't be disappointed!

Had a few hours to spare during my day and it was included with the Copenhagen card so I decided to see what's inside by curiosity. It was better than expected! It's a museum where you can learn about Guinness records from around the world about different categories : sports, animals, food, ... You can find also a section with games you can play. It was very fun and I really liked this part of the museum. It's fun if you have some time to spare or for kids but it's not a must-do in Copenhagen.

We enjoyed our visit here as a family.

It’s only worth it if included in the Copenhagen pass card. Middle exhibitions more interesting than the beginning. Museum of curiosities at the end horror theme not suitable for young children even I was too scared to follow the exhibit
L C — Google review
It’s okay—nothing very special. Some records are clearly scams, and for most, it’s just a display or a picture. Tickets for kids over 11 and adults cost 169 DKK each, which feels expensive for what you get. Aside from the Guinness records, there are stations where you can play games and try to break records, which can be fun for kids. If you have children and they enjoy this kind of thing, it might be worth it. Otherwise, it’s not an exceptional experience.
Roja G — Google review
The interactive parts are exciting, but half of the exhibition is just random Guinness record facts. Shorter, but more interactive exhibition would be better e.g., for the animal or food related records.

Mostly focused around the weird and unusual stuff or animals or even humans. It is a fun experience if you have some time but I won’t say it’s a must do in Copenhagen.
Melanie M — Google review
It's a fun weird place to visit. I found there were some creepy corners there but it was not too scary. You should consider it when bringing your kids here. Some may like it and some may feel scared.

There used to be a Ripley’s in London so I was so excited when I found out there was one here. It was included in our Copenhagen card. So much fun, I have to admit though I do miss the mirror maze that London had. But still, fun and educational for all ages!
Alisa E — Google review
I had a really fun and pleasant experience with my family. There were lots of funny moments, but also interesting and educational things to see. It’s an interactive museum, and I’d definitely go back again!😊

It's ok, but far from spectacular. Everything looked kinda worn out. Not worth the price unless going with the Copenhagen card.
Žilvinas P — Google review
Take this with a grain of salt, because it’s just my personal take. It’s a cool experience if you’re with kids, but for an average adult with normal common knowledge, it gets boring after seeing five or six exhibits. Some displays are fun or odd, but overall, it doesn’t really hold your attention for long. Good for a quick visit, but not something I’d go out of my way for.

Cool museum, but the hans Christian Andersen experience was not worth the money. Overall a cool museum.

Located in Frederiksberg, Denmark, Frederiksberg Palace is an impressive 18th-century Italian Baroque-style palace perched atop Frederiksberg Hill. It offers guided tours of the former royal apartments and boasts panoramic views of Frederiksberg Gardens and large parts of Copenhagen. The palace was built by Frederick the 4th and is filled with fascinating stories about the royal family over the past few hundred years.
Most perfect place ever! So peaceful for walks and picnics. This is my favorite park in Copenhagen. You can see the elephants some days from the park view of the Frederiksberg Zoo.
Benecia Z — Google review
Frederiksberg Palace, a magnificent Baroque gem, offers a glimpse into Danish history and grandeur. While the opulent interior spaces are not currently accessible due to a fire in 1859, the palace itself and its surrounding gardens are a sight to behold. Highlights: 1. Striking Baroque Architecture: Admire the palace's impressive exterior, designed by Danish architect Ernst Brandenburger and inspired by Italian Baroque style. 2. Beautiful Gardens: Explore the sprawling Frederiksberg Have and Søndermarken gardens, offering a peaceful escape and scenic views. Visit Tips: 1. Combine your visit with a stroll through the charming gardens for a well-rounded experience. 2. Consider joining a guided tour to delve deeper into the palace's history. Overall, Frederiksberg Palace is a must-visit for history buffs and anyone who appreciates beautiful architecture and gardens.
Ravi K — Google review
Frederiksberg Palace stands proudly atop a hill overlooking the beautiful Frederiksberg Garden — a quiet yet stately reminder of Denmark’s royal past. Built in the early 1700s for King Frederik IV, the palace was inspired by the Italian and French baroque styles the king admired during his travels through Europe. The architectural symmetry, ochre-yellow façade, and formal layout reflect a monarch eager to project taste, sophistication, and power. Originally intended as a summer residence, the palace was later expanded and became a favored retreat for several Danish monarchs. It also played an important role in royal education: King Christian VII spent time here, and his son, King Frederik VI, was largely raised at the palace. One fascinating episode in the palace’s early history was the visit of Peter the Great of Russia in 1716. On his way to meet his Danish allies during the Great Northern War, Peter visited Copenhagen and was received at Frederiksberg Palace. Known for his curiosity and hands-on interest in architecture and military matters, Peter allegedly climbed up to the palace dome himself, rather than wait for keys, which amused and shocked the Danish court. His visit underscores the international stature of the Danish crown at the time — Frederiksberg was not merely a royal summer house, but a diplomatic stage for Europe’s most powerful rulers. Though it no longer houses royals, the palace has retained its aura of quiet dignity. Today it serves as a military academy, yet the interiors (when open to the public on select days) still reflect the opulence of Denmark’s baroque age. Combined with the peaceful gardens below, it’s one of Copenhagen’s most atmospheric and historically rich landmarks.

We tried to go in but gates were closed. Castle ground is nice and well maintained. Walking upto the castle through the park was enjoyable too. There is not much to see from the outside exterior. Very unimpressive. We looked through the gates and inside the middle ground. I think all the charm is inside the castle. Maybe next time.
Tas A — Google review
I only visited the gardens outside the palace. Very nice place for a picnic or getting some sun. Many weddings happening around the park, the newlyweds take pictures by the summer palace of the Royal Family.

While not normally open to the public, it is very much worth visiting the Officers School for its proud history and the amazing view it offers of Copenhagen if you ever get a chance.

Really nice castle Doesnt take many hours to see all though.

Huge palace and very well maintained.. The palace overlooks Frederiksberg Gardens with waterfalls and rows of linden trees along the palace terrace. Have rich historic background on each architectural planning… it is close to Copenhagen zoo… can have pleasant stroll from city center to have nice time either in early morning or evenings.. find food options in the palace garden could be tough ai better carry enough fluids… highly recommended place to visit if you are in Frederiksberg or Copenhagen

Visitors can book a free tour to explore the beautiful rooms and learn about the passing of laws throughout history. The guided tours are informative and entertaining, often led by knowledgeable staff members who share interesting anecdotes about former prime ministers.

The tour is absolutely amazing and a must do for anyone that is vaguely interested in politics or how governments operate. the tour guide was very nice, informative, and gave a very detailed overview on the history of the parliament and the electoral system. Booking in advance is 100% required and tours in English are extremely frequent.

The 45-minute guided tour in English was excellent. It was very thorough, educational, and even included some fun and surprising facts. Everyone we met was incredibly kind and welcoming—especially the security guards who kindly let us in even though we arrived 10 minutes late. Highly recommend visiting if you're interested in Danish politics or just want to learn more about how the country works.

Langelinie, located in downtown Copenhagen, is a picturesque quayside promenade along the waterfront of Osterbro district. It was originally a boardwalk that encircled Kastellet and extended to the shoreline along Strandboulevard. The area is home to the famous Little Mermaid statue by Edvard Eriksen and offers shops, cafes, and beautiful scenic spaces for walkers and cyclists.
This is a lovely park to have a wander in. There are lots of sculptures, including The Little Mermaid, gardens, places to eat, plus a fort. The waterfront is nice, and you get a lot of boats along it. It is possible to travel around the park using a wheelchair.
Shelley C — Google review
We were on a hop on hop off bus (they are a great way to get around). The driver stopped for ten mins to allow us to walk and get a photo of the mermaid. This was great as we just wanted to see it and get a snap. You can always wait and catch the next bus if you fancy a longer walk or something to eat.
Samantha T — Google review
Such a beautiful and iconic stop! The Little Mermaid statue is smaller than you might expect, but absolutely worth visiting. It’s set against a peaceful waterfront backdrop and makes for a lovely quick visit and photo opportunity. I’m so glad I stopped — a meaningful piece of Copenhagen’s charm and history.
Savanah E — Google review
Langelinie is one of my favorite spots in Copenhagen to just unwind and take a peaceful stroll by the water. I enjoyed taking a walk along the harbor, the fresh sea breeze, and spotting the famous Little Mermaid statue up close. It’s a perfect mix of calm and charm, with beautiful green spaces and interesting sculptures along the way. There are also cozy cafés nearby where you can grab a coffee and watch the boats go by. Whether you’re looking for a relaxing walk or a quiet moment by the sea, Langelinie always feels like a little hidden gem in the city.

Langelinie A beautiful promenade and it's a great place to stroll along the water, stopping at various sights, and small food carts invites you to enjoy a coffee or ice cream. Amalienborg Palace and Copenhagen Castle are also nearby. The Little Mermaid is a must-see, of course. You can also take a seaplane tour or take the Hop-On Hop-Off bus from here. A great day trip destination!

Church
Frederiksberg Church, also known as Frederiksberg Kirke, stands out as an atypical church in Denmark due to its octagonal design by Dutch architect Felix Dusart. Completed in 1734, it houses a bell from a previous church that had burned down in 1658. The impressive cemetery surrounding the church is home to the resting places of many famous individuals. Inside, the spacious church room offers practicality for all visitors.
Sooooo beautiful little church....and the graveyard is worth a visit too 👌😊

(Translated by Google) A beautiful octagonal church. I was very struck by the fact that the facade is covered in vegetation which has been brought in so perfectly that it looks like a natural covering. Adjacent to the church there is a lovely and relaxing cemetery with many ancient graves. Unfortunately, some have not been treated and are therefore currently in a very bad state. You can barely make out the dates dating back to 1800.

In addition to the classic tour, Stromma also offers themed tours such as jazz cruises, operetta tours, and blues cruises, which include live music. A Must-Do Summer Experience in Copenhagen – Canal Tour from Nyhavn If you're in Copenhagen, especially during the summer, a canal tour is an absolute must! The ride typically starts from the picturesque Nyhavn harbor and lasts about an hour—packed with stunning views and a relaxing vibe. I highly recommend booking your slots in advance, as the tours can fill up quickly, especially during peak hours. I went with my family and we thoroughly enjoyed cruising on the wavy waters, soaking up the sunshine, and taking in the city's rich heritage and iconic landmarks. It’s a perfect way to see Copenhagen from a unique perspective—peaceful, scenic, and memorable.
Ishita K — Google review
We took the 1 hour canal tour while on a visit to København. We did not have to wait for more than 5 minutes for purchasing the tour tickets. The boat was large with an open top. There was a lady guide announcing the details of the ride It was a smooth ride and we could see some beautiful buildings around the quay. She explained some parts with their historical background. There were several low-height bridges ( more like Venice or Amsterdam). This part of the city had lots of tourists, mostly youngsters and some couples with kids.Fortunately it was a bright sunny day with small patches of clouds passing by.
RAVINDRA — Google review
Not exactly a bargain, but still very good experience if you want to take in some of Copenhagen and get a feel for it from the water side. If you want to do the city, the hop on hop-off bus probably provides a similar experience, but the water-borne experience is a lot more intimate. It's a couple of hours till that takes you around through the inner Port and and the little area that looks a lot like Amsterdam, but at a much slower Pace than the import, which allows you to take in the ambience and all the sights of the area.
Richard H — Google review
This tour was the best, we booked online and it was super easy. We turned up on time and were on the boat immediately. The tour guide was so knowledgeable about the whole area and could answer any question. There are a lot of low bridges on the tour so make sure.you.sit down when instructed! It is a great introduction to the fantastic city of Copenhagen and will help you decide where to go and what to see on your trip whether long or short.. enjoy!😁
Murray G — Google review
A super fun way to see parts of Copenhagen! On a nice day, there’s a slight breeze and those sunny rays feel good! It’s a little chaotic purchasing riches because the boarding lines, the ticket lines, and the prepaid ticket people are all in the same area. Lines crisscrossing. It sends like it could be very easy door someone to cut in line, but they seem to think it works for them, so ok. The ride is about 45 minutes to an hour. It really helps having a lively guide because to be honest, there’s not that much to see, at least not up close. But there are clever looking buildings, like the one that looks like Tobeleron. There are nearby floating bars and restaurants. And there’s even a binge humbling place across the waterway. You get to see the little mermaid statue… but only from the backside!!!
G L — Google review
Absolutely fabulous! We learned so much about Denmark, royalty, the arts, religion, and the kissing bridge. Crazy how the bridges are so so low and the boats soar underneath them. Even with a bit of wind and choppy water the ride was smooth. The tour guide shared all sorts of interesting facts and stories that I will not repeat here, but know that there’s so much intrigue and history, and hearing about it while boating was ideal. Check it out. Don’t worry about the kraken, it’s tame.
Dale B — Google review
I know it's a very touristy thing to do, but the Canal tour is definitely worth it! It's a very good activity when you get in Copenhagen and want to get situated in the city. It's actually not that expensive and you have a good hour ish on the boat and enjoying the beautiful view and building. Absolutely a most do!

Strømma Canal Tours in Copenhagen is a delightful way to see the city from the water. The canals are charming, and you glide past colorful buildings, historic harbors, and cozy waterfront cafés. While Copenhagen's canals are smaller and calmer than Venice, the experience still feels magical - peaceful, scenic, and perfect for photos. Great commentary on landmarks and history, and the boats are comfortable. A must-do for visitors who enjoy exploring a city by water!

Stroget is to Copenhagen what Oxford Street is to London or 5th Avenue is to New York. Stroeget is better because it is a pedestrian street so one can walk freely without any traffic tension. This entire street is full of cafes, bars and shopping stores. It is impossible for any tourist to visit Copenhagen and not come to Stroeget. One can sit in one of the cafe and spend hours just by people watching.

Fantastic museum! Small with plenty to see. Every room transports you to the book's story, we really enjoyed our time there. Highly recommended.

Overall enjoyed this experience aimed at children, but enough back story for adults. Over in about half an hour. It was very dark inside even with the interactions lit up. At one point there was a glass door to push (not sure why?), and down the dark corridor the toilet was situated. Different languages were available on the story boards.
Caroline S — Google review
I was intrigued by this experience and had some time to spare. It was included in the Copenhagen Card which was convenient. The attraction is a walkthrough where you will hear stories from Hans Andersen books like Little Mermaid or Thumbelina. They made a nice interactive display that reminded me of Efteling in Netherlands. Very cute and magical. The only downside was that the experience was quite short because I wanted to see more. I would say it’s a must do for kids and older adults like me that are child at heart.

Located in the same building right next to the Ripley’s Believe-it-or-Not Museum, this quaint little exhibit takes you through the life and some famous stories of the author Hans Christian Andersen. As a lover of the fairytales myself this was so charming and I thought the exhibit was thoughtfully designed and carefully planned out. Creative touches add a unique vibe to this kind of exhibit and I found the time passed very quickly. It was fun for us as a group of adults but I imagine kids would really enjoy it as well- particularly if they like the fairytales!
Zoë O — Google review
It just wasn't really worth the entrance fee for us. There wasn't much to it aside from some exhibits with dolls/inanimate readings of his fairytales and some information about his life.

Mihai — Google review
Absolutely not recommended. It is a kind of annex to the Guinees record museum so the place is rather small, I think you can go through the whole venue in about 20 mins, max 30; then it is highly overpriced in relation to the time that you will actually spend there. Unless you are a 12 yo kid, any of the attractions would be scary to you. I get scary easily but even so I wasn’t scary at all, I found it very childish and simple.
Ana T — Google review
This was terrible. I was really looking forward to going here as I enjoy weird and strange things. We’d already visited Ripleys and the Guinness World Records museum, which were really good, so I had high hopes that Mystic Ex would be the same. Firstly the attraction lasts 10 minutes. When we saw the exit sign at the end a lot of the other visitors, as well as ourselves, were wondering if we’d miss a lot of it out because it couldn’t possibly be over after 10 mins. Secondly, all but one of the interactive exhibits were not working. The rest either didn’t work at all or half worked. The interactive exhibits were very poorly done and I’ve seen more impressive stuff at a travelling fairground! Overall it was rubbish. Don’t waste your money and don’t even waste your time even if you get a free token to go.

Small, but has decent exhibits. Can get rather warm inside. So, better make sure you don't go in when it's super crowded.

Cycling park
Cykelslangen, also known as the Bicycle Snake, is a renowned bridge in Copenhagen's harbor area. Its distinctive snake-like shape and vibrant red color make it an iconic landmark. The bridge offers stunning views, especially when approached from Fisketorvet. Connected to Dybbolsbro bridge, which boasts Copenhagen's widest bike lane at 10 meters wide, Cykelslangen seamlessly integrates into the city's extensive bike network.
Please! A reminder to Pedestrians and Parents pushing kids on prams. This is a Bike bridge. It’s already tight as it is. And bikers ride fast on it. No need to put yourself and your kids squeezed in between bikers and the fence. Just a reminder, that’s all. I just want everyone to be safe!

Incredible Bike, infrastructure, beautiful design, and so fun to ride over! I wish we had this at home in the US.

A very cool bicycle bridge with a breathtaking view towards a part of the city. In order to cross the road I hired an electric bicycle and it was really worth it.

Experience with riding over the see at Cykelslangen. The Bicycle Snake 190 meter length with 6 meters above one of the harbour baths next to Fisketorvet Shopping Mall.

Love it. We as Germans felt so happy and free cycling across Copenhagen that easy.
Melanie A — Google review
I've seen this on blogs many times before and in theory it works great but it's not until you actually see it in person do you realize how great it actually works. The way it is contacted to the rest of Copenhagens extensive bike network is very impressive. There is a sign that says no pedestrians on the bridge but I would recommend that you walk it as long as you watch out for the bikes and dont get caught.
Jin K — Google review
Wow I rode with my kids through the streets of Kopenhagen and I am deeply impressed what great city it is for bikes. The Cykelslangen is just on top of all the great experiences.

Nestled in the vibrant Meatpacking District, Fotografisk Center is a gem for photography enthusiasts and art lovers alike. This contemporary exhibition space showcases an impressive array of photographic art and photojournalism from both international and Danish artists. With around six exhibitions annually, including captivating video and film presentations, there's always something fresh to explore. The center's intimate setting allows visitors to engage deeply with the works on display while enjoying a cozy atmosphere complete with a library and comfortable seating.
loved the exhibition about immigration a lot - super cool museum
Milena — Google review
Very mixed feelings. It’s located in a warehouse and consists of several mini-galleries by various artists. I found most of them great and thought-provoking. However, there was an audio recording playing at full volume that could be heard throughout the entire space which made it difficult to focus on the other exhibits; but, most importantly, it was a recount of r**e and m****r. And while I think it’s absolutely essential to document such recounts, they should come with a trigger warning, especially for people with traumatic experiences or families visiting with kids.
Natalia B — Google review
Small but very interesting art center. I think the entry fee is very reasonable considering that it was only 40dkk.

Really a mixed bag. Relatively inexpensive and pretty well maintained bathroom, but the handicapped stall wouldn’t lock. I think they are on to something, but it feels like it could use a bit of work.

It is a popular destination for both locals and tourists due to its lively atmosphere, numerous cafes, and shops. The square features the iconic Stork Fountain and is known for attracting street performers, protesters, and vendors.
Beautiful place in the centre of the shopping district. Lots of shops and eateries close to some lovely churches and buildings.

It’s a street. It’s a plaza. It’s a shopping district. No wait—it’s all three! I won’t say this area is the most quaint of its type, but it still has a solidly great atmosphere as a result of the endless collection of shops and restaurants. The area is wide enough keep the flow of pedestrians moving along. The area is sure to delight—simply spend as long as you like without a time commitment. On a side note, FREE public toilets!

This is a public and pediastrian square in the center of Copenhagen that is frequented by locals and tourists with many high-end brand stores, cafes, and restaurants. It's the second oldest in copenhagen and takes its name from farmers during the Middle Ages that would sell their produce in this area. One can stroll the area and visit many nearby locations and elegant public buildings.

Christian church
Located inside Frederiksberg Palace, the Frederiksberg Palace Church is a small chapel that was built during the expansion of the palace in 1707-1709. Despite not being part of the original plans, it adds to the charm of the palace. Situated in Frederiksberg Garden by the castle, this very old church exudes beauty and hosts various events such as christenings. Visitors describe it as unique and fantastic, with its picturesque location making it a must-see attraction.

(Translated by Google) All the soldiers must go through the place where the ceremony, e.g. funeral, is held. Seems a bit wrong compared to those left behind that the military has to wade around in the meantime. Very loud in the tunnel you walk through so everything can be heard. The church minister eats muffins and drinks coffee. The coffin must be carried down stairs. An enormous number of uneven cobblestones, so that the whole rusty wagon jumps and dances even if you drive slowly.

Haveselskabets Have is a hidden gem within Frederiksberg Gardens, offering a serene and peaceful escape from the bustling city. Tucked away from the main entrance, this secret garden features well-manicured lawns, fragrant rose gardens, and charming fountains. While the larger park may attract crowds, Haveselskabets Have remains relatively uncrowded, making it an ideal spot for quiet contemplation.
Before entering the big parc you should spend some time in this beautiful litte garden

“Secret Gardens” that’s not so secret. :) I really felt like I discovered a beautiful hidden garden when I wandered into this garden in the evening, and then I came back early in the morning for my run. The garden is well manicured with fountains and fragrant rose gardens and much more... While the Fredericksberg Have is a very popular park, I didn’t see very many people in the garden so this seemed like a great place for me to get some quiet and peace. :) I also noted a couple of buildings on my way in, a very fancy restaurant and an event space that was hosting a free art exhibit. (Shown in my photos)

The museum is dedicated to the life and work of Danish intellectuals who lived in Carlsberg Village in the 19th century. The exhibits include furniture, paintings, and manuscripts from this period. There is also a small museum with objects related to the intellectuals' intellectual life. The garden is a popular spot for visitors to relax and enjoy the afternoon sunshine.
Garden is very nice and it's free. The museum interior costs money and doesn't have anything interesting
Kent W — Google review
The Hill House Museum was decent! The exhibition rooms, both permanent and temporary, were wonderful to view! However, considering the museum's small size, the 60 DKK admission felt pricey for just several rooms in two floors. It would be great if the owners added more exhibitions to justify the admission fee. On a positive note, the garden was absolutely lovely!
Sophia — Google review
Bakkehuset is a home from the 17th century which has been restored to its 1820s decor. It was the home of an author and his wife, and served as a gathering spot for the leading intellectual lights of the day. Although the neighborhood it’s in is now very built up and trendy (it’s the former meat packing district), at the time it was the country all around. Appreciating nature was a big part of these intellectuals perspective so the wife made gardens, paths, and a pond. I always enjoy going to houses of any era but this was a little sparse - even reading every sign I was done in 20 minutes. They have a conservatory with a cafe (closed for a private function when I was there but it looked nice.)
Victoria R — Google review
Worth a visit 💫 Bakkehuset means the house on the hill, because in the 18th century it was located on a hill in the middle of the countryside. Today it is the oldest house in Frederiksberg and a small oasis in the middle of the city. Bakkehuset is an authentic Golden Age home and in Kamma and Knud Lyne Rahbeks time (1802-30) the house was one of the important literary gathering-places in the 19th century. The salon culture unfolded around the tea table in the yellow corner room. A short film about H.C.Andersens relation to the Rahbek family visualizes the way of life of the 19th century. Really lovely is the collection of the small artistic cardboard boxes that Kamma Rahbek created herself - a common hobby of the bourgeoisie around 1800. At the museum cash desk you get a booklet with the explanations of the exhibited objects – so as not to disturb the historical impression of the house. Staff was really friendly, informative and helpful.
Maja J — Google review
Very interesting. Beautifully decorated, with informative text for each room.
Jon D — Google review
I still remember how it captured the lives of the patrons so well and not just their achievements. I especially liked how the patrons used to invite intellectuals from all over the country and have a good debate by them beside the window. Simply elegant!
Lee C — Google review
We had walked up to the Carlsberg Village from the city centre and needed just to sit somewhere with a relaxing atmosphere. Bakkehusmuseet was exactly the place that fulfilled this need in us. Speciality tea and a delicious Danish version of a rhubarb trifle while sitting in the garden enjoying the afternoon sun, re-energised us enough to make it back to the bustle of the city. Unfortunately we were too late to enjoy the museum, a visit for another day, but can wholeheartedly recommend the small cafe and appreciated the friendly and helpful staff.
