The island boasts a 12th-century castle and stunning sandy beaches perfect for various water activities. Visitors can enjoy staying in comfortable holiday rentals or campsites with amenities like pools, free Wi-Fi, and more. The best place for a romantic tête à tête in the winter. A spring week with fantastic swimming and summer sports with sexy feelings. But in the summer you will enjoy the fiesta atmosphere and gorgeous beaches or the quiet marshes for your cycling tour of the island. Lovely restaurants after sailing here and there.

A sparkling coastal village.. The light is noticably clear (wear sunglasses). Access to the beach and a tucked away little drop-in, open air wine bar that makes it's own daily pizzas..and great pastries! On the beach road but you'll have to look!

Beach
Located in Noirmoutier-en-l'Ile, France, Plage des Dames is a serene and safe beach that offers a tranquil atmosphere. It is situated close to 'Les Prateaux,' a Silence Hotel in Bois de la Chaize. The beach is just 150 meters away from the hotel and provides a beautiful setting for relaxation. Visitors can enjoy the calm waters and sandy shores of this picturesque beach. Additionally, the area boasts other sandy beaches for exploration.
Visited in early June and were finally blessed with some lovely weather. Wide sandy beach, we enjoyed a walk and the views back to the mainland. There are a couple of restaurants and a snack bar above the beach. We were very fortunate that it was not busy, but can image in high summer it must get crowded and parking must be difficult.
SJ M — Google review
Mixed feeling. Beautiful and very scenic beach and pier. Very busy in the summer and unfortunately many cigarette butts and pieces of glass in the sand as well as sharp sea shells. (I cut my feet on glass and on a shell) Trash bins are quite far away which might explain the littering. Parking is very difficult . Toilets in terrible state.
Chrissi H — Google review
Nice, large beach. Fully possible to swim/bath even in low tide. Several restaurants/brasseries. Very difficult to park, so it is recommended to cycle or walk. Free bus from Nourmoutier centre ville.
Roy-Andre T — Google review
Surprising beach... Crystal clear waters and shadows because of rocks and trees. Lots of shells to hunt, shallow waters and hardly any waves. Great for kids. The main beach can be crowded, both sides are more quiet. Come early if you want to park (for free) in the streets before the beach entrance - do not try to park at the beach entrance - its nearly impossible to find a spot. There's a free bus between the beach and Noirmoutier-en-l'Île back and forth every 15 minutes. Definitely a beach to visit a few times.

Small but nice aquarium for family
VR P — Google review
Very small aquarium. We didn't even get to stay for a full hour. Vendee aquarium is much better and for the same price and children can easily spend two hours exploring there. Girl on the ticket desk was very rude which didn't start our experience off good
Linda M — Google review
Nice little aquarium with range of fish etc... Bit different from other places in so much that they have seals which are a bit different. Worth a trip of on area and have kids. Ideal for rainy day
Andrew C — Google review
This is a complete fraud! The aquarium is very small and the entrance fee is way to high with 13 euro's for an adult and 10 euro's for a kid. Scandalous!!!
Lotte L — Google review
It's a local aquarium with many different fishes, common and tropical. They also have two sea lions for a show.
Guillaume G — Google review
Over priced for the experience. Plus all the larger animals, sea lions, turtles and sharks appear very unhappy in small enclosures.
Andy P — Google review
Ideal for with small kids because it is not very big but still has a nice collection of animals
Arthur A — Google review
Very expensive for the size. If going make sure to see the sea lion show and it makes up for the price.

Oceanile Parc Aquatique is a fantastic water park that offers great value for money. With around 8 different rides, including inflatables and toboggan rides, it provides an amazing experience for both adults and children. Visitors can enjoy sunbeds, various slides, pools, and even a wave pool. The park is clean and well-maintained with plenty of dining options available. It's a perfect destination for families looking to have fun in the sun while in France.
Had a great family day here..Got here nice n early and spent whole day playing on various slides.Took a picnic, plenty of tables to eat at..immaculately clean everywhere you looked. Had a fresh pizza later on in the day which was a great price and very tasty..will def return next time we in France.
Nicola B — Google review
This is fun for adult and children of all ages. We have been more times than I can count. Kids spend most of their time either diving into the deep end of the pool or on the crazy river. Followed up by a giant chocolate waffle. Would definitely recommend that you check it out!
Gabrielle D — Google review
When my two children pleaded with me to visit Océanile I was unsure if the €100 entry for the four of us (children over 11 are classed as adults) would prove good value for money. My fears were unfounded. We arrived around 1030 shortly after opening (I wouldn't advise arriving later if getting a sunbed is important to you) and found sunbeds before heading toward the rides. There are only around 8 different rides but they are all really good. Three use inflatables and one is a toboggan ride. During peak times there is some queuing – the inflatables in particular – but nothing too arduous. I managed around 35 rides during my visit but my children probably did double that! Picnics are allowed and I would advise popping to the Super U next door and filling a cool bag/box as the on-site prices for food and drink are steep (€2.50 for a 330ml can of Coke). There is a charming separate pool for under 8s and an indoor pool for swimming (and another ride which I didn't go on) too. We stayed all day and even then, leaving was such a wrench we visited again a week later. Well recommended.
Simon E — Google review
This AMAZING water park is the BEST water park i have ever been too. it deserves 5 stars i just lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeee it sooooo much! you all must go here people ;) i went on every slide her and in every pool and it was paradise! my favorite is the wave pool and the tunnel slide! i am going here again this summer and i just cant Waite! this is truly the best water park.....
Joyfulljakey — Google review
Be careful when you go here because: 1. I dived in the water and scraped my chest on the stoney concrete 2. Because I was here all day, the skin on the bottom of my feet was soft, so walking on the stoney concrete ripped the bottom of my toes and they bled quite a lot
Leo S — Google review
Could do with updating, floors of pools, very rough etc, river Rapids great fun, with flooring very smooth, great with group all going down together, had great day.
Adam L — Google review
For 21 to 26 euros per person it is not very big. There is a few good rides. But as I have said not worth the amount you pay.
Josh W — Google review

L'île aux Papillons is a tropical greenhouse located near La Gueriniere, offering the opportunity to discover numerous butterfly species from around the world. The butterflies freely roam in a vast flowered greenhouse, which is the largest in France. Visitors can observe the complete life cycle of these flying insects, including some births. The visit takes about 1 to 1.15 hours and it's recommended to dress lightly due to the warm and humid environment inside the greenhouse.
Took a spin out to see the butterflies because the weather wasn’t the best, three kids enjoyed it very much. We walked around the loop three times to take it all in. Seen different types of butterflies each time. Only issue was the price to feed the fish 50cents for a kids handful but didn’t take much away from the experience we had. Bird area was nearly missed but when we found it was nice to get close to the birds. Would recommend for a wet day or a short trip.
Aaron ( — Google review
Interesting place, highly recommended for a rainy day. Not too big, so conveniently can be seen with a whole family. Can be a bit crowded. There is also a bird house. The area is not too exciting, but a short drive takes you to a mall and there are salt production places around to visit.
Ferenc B — Google review
It was a lovely experience especially for the kids. Butterflies kept landing on my son's red cap to his immense enjoyment. There's a pool of friendly Koi Carp who think you're there to feed them, a butterfly hatchery, a pool of Goldfish, a tank of Red Bellied Piranha and Chinese Quall wondering everywhere. You could walk through very quickly and miss loads of things. My advice is take your time, read the plaques, oh and wear a red cap.
Dave A — Google review
A lovely experience with numerous types of exotic butterflies flying around and perching on flowers and fruit feeding stations, the carers of the numerous types of butterflies were so stunning and we were blessed to have butterflies landing on us on Most of the information notices are in English and in French. There are other attractions within including a piranha tank and a bird aviary, plus also a video presentation that we did not watch. The facilities including the reception and the toilets are modern and clean and it’s a real pleasure to visit this wonderful attraction. Visitor numbers were moderate on a September Monday. Refreshments unlimited to a modest selection of soft drinks and a very small selection of ice creams and ice lollies.

Plage des Sableaux is a picturesque beach on the island, known for its elegant atmosphere and historical bathing cabins from the mid-19th century. It's a must-stop for swimming. Nearby, Anse Rouge and Plage des Souzeaux offer a glimpse of Belle Epoque villas. Visitors can enjoy kayaking in the tranquil morning waters, with gentle waves connecting these beautiful beaches. Nature lovers will appreciate its proximity to other attractions like Aquarium de Noirmoutier.
In my opinion, this has to be one of the finest beaches that we have been to. Plage de Sableux has several distinctive features: an enclosed beach, gentle waves, fine-grained sandy front, translucent waters, dramatic towering rocks, and the nature reserve provide a shady respite and relaxed strolls. Conditions are idyllic and fabulous. I am keenly aware that the more people review this place, it will not stay pristine as it currently is. Highly recommended but please take care of this natural resource.

Some objects are "well presented" behind the windows (more symbolic than anything else), it is very interactive (screens and videos everywhere), spaces crossed are more or less empty (that's my feeling anyway). However, the place is quite sumptuous (vestibule and staircase in particular), it would surely have deserved another destination for the public! Too bad... 25 years of tourism and hundreds of museums under my belt. (Translated by Google) One of the most beautiful wild beaches in Noirmoutier. Idyllic for fishing at low tide and great for swimming at good tides. During my visit on 09/09/2022 the water temperature was... 20°. To visit as well as the streets of this small village. Top outside of July and August. The tourist attraction known as L'Estacade du bois de la chaise is a stunning location on the island. It offers breathtaking views and a serene ambiance. However, the excessive presence of fishermen somewhat detracts from the overall enjoyment. Nonetheless, it remains undoubtedly one of the most picturesque spots on the island, especially during sunrise when the sky reveals its magnificent colors. The beach itself is remarkable, with crystal-clear waters and a distinct appearance when observed from the jetty.

(Translated by Google) In my opinion, Bois de la Chaise and its surroundings are among the most beautiful places in Noirmoutier. It took us a good hour to walk there from Noirmoutier-en-l'Île. Once we arrived at Plage des Dames, I really regretted not bringing our swimsuits that day. Seeing the fine sand, the large rocks, and the translucent water, we almost felt like we were in the tropics, far from the Atlantic coast of Vendée. It was a real change of scenery. In the absence of a swim, I took a walk along the pier, a large wooden pontoon popular with fishermen, which allows us to be close to the water and enjoy a beautiful panorama of the entire coast.

(Translated by Google) A pretty pier on the sea. The wooden construction dates from 1885 and seems to be holding up. At the very end of the pier, very nice view of the beaches. Quite a few fishermen on deck, catching absolutely tiny but numerous fish. The walk is therefore worth the detour.

Access by vehicle is not convenient, so plan to park well back and take a short walk to get there, especially during peak season. This optimizes travel by bicycle.
