Mountains
Mount Epomeo, a 2,589-foot volcanic mountain located on the island of Ischia, offers a diverse range of landscapes and attractions. From sunny beaches to pine forests and green hills, the area provides ample opportunities for invigorating walks and excursions. The island's volcanic origin is evident in its eight thermo-basins, springs, geysers, and arenas known for their therapeutic properties. Additionally, the local microclimate supports exceptional fruit and vegetable production.
An amazing place that becomes even more beautiful during the sunset or the sunrise. The hike from Fontana is short but steep. Wearing good shoes is a must especially on the way down where it can be slippery. From the top, a 360 degrees view can be observed. You can see Capri, the Vesuve and the golf of Naples.

Worth a visit, view is spectacular. We came before 10 am, very few people. Recommended to visit early in the day both because the temperature is lower and it becomes very crowded at the top.
Vidar H — Google review
Fantastic mount to climb. Way is not really hard but be sure to take comfortable boots as it takes to climb about 300m from bus stop. Views are worth it, if You like nature - get in there!
Karol — Google review
Beautiful view from the top of the island. The hike is short but steep. Not for the faint of heart. Parking was full so we had to park on road down the hill.
Sam B — Google review
Mount Eponeo is a great day out, walk 2500 feet. That’s how high it is so great pathways it’s not too difficult. It takes about an hour to walk up. Beautiful little stopoff you can park the bikes if you want to drive up halfway really really friendly guy who works there beautiful little Shop walk all the way up to the top is also a restaurant on the walk up but their are many viewing points we can see CAPRI you can see Sorrento and you can see the whole of esky Island , definitely recommended
Rhys G — Google review
Go all the way to the top if you’re up for it and have sure footing! The first hill up the long concrete road is steep, flanked by lovely local plants on either side. The dirt path up the mountain is also steep and sometimes Barry, sometimes large rocks, but not impossible (I am active and strong, but am not a Cross Fit junkie, and there were a wide variety of folks at the top). The very top of the rock might be a lot for those who are afraid of heights, but there is a guard rail to hold for balance and the view is absolutely beautiful. I got a limone arance mista juice at the top restaurant and had a heart lunch / dessert at La Porta di Agartha Ristorante afterward (a bit further back down from the tip top) which I highly highly recommend. I started around 11:30am-ish and took my time, and by the time I got to Agartha restaurant it was about 1:00pm.
Sasha N — Google review
Good to bring a walking stick or two, it helps when you reach the portion of the hike where trekkers have worn down the rocks to narrow channels over centuries. Unexpectedly, the restaurant at the top was open in mid-November. When the last 30 feet had too much vertical exposure for me, I was able to retreat to the lovely terrace and enjoy a beer while I waited for my daughter. It took me an hour to reach the top, climbing at an easy pace. I probably wouldn’t do it in mid-summer though, too hot and crowded.
K F — Google review
The view is amazing, I was able to see the whole island! Be prepared for an 1h hiking uphill. Bring some water, some proper shoes and some energy. You will not regret it!

Sant'Angelo is a charming car-free village with steep hills, gelaterias, and ceramic shops. It's located just a 20-minute walk from the beach where Elena Ferrante's character lost her virginity. The village is known for its narrow streets where only miniature luggage trucks are allowed. At the hilltop, there's Casa Garibaldi B&B, a family-run garden complex with mosaicked terraces and thermal pools.

Island
Ischia is a lush volcanic island known for its hot springs, stunning coastal views, and a medieval castle. The island has hosted distinguished personalities from the international cinema world during its film festivals. With open-air screenings in artistic and cultural venues, the festival offers a unique experience. Ischia also boasts diverse cuisine with restaurants offering universal and sensory-stimulating dishes. Additionally, the island's political and social stability make it an attractive destination for travelers seeking a taste of Europe in a picturesque setting.
It is a beautiful island with a lot of attractions. We got there with our catamaran and stayed for one full day. We traveled all around island with scooters which make it even nicer experience.
Wojciech T — Google review
An unexpected beauty and charm you'll meet there. Very green island with plenity of choices to do. From swimming in the blue waters to walks on the beautiful streets full of coloured ceramics art. Lots of flowers and palms are everywhere.
Bianca R — Google review
I spent a day in Ischia and I wish I could stay longer. When I went, I took a speed boat for about hour and regular furry took me at least 2 hours to come back to Naples. The Island is so unique and gorgeous, tons of wonderful places to go but I only had one day. I paid a cap to take me around the island. It was good to have a local as a guide and know what place to go. Beaches is extremely beautiful. The view from the top of the mountain is even better. Houses, buildings, street and all nature are stunning, looks like I'm in heaven. Suggesting: enjoy the island more then a day if you have time.
Melissa N — Google review
A nearby island to Capri. Much less crowded but also downscale. No designer shops here. Just plain and simple. The food is still wonderful and the beaches are plentiful. Just don’t expect the “ luxury “ experience of Capri. More like Napoli comes to the beach.
Jimmy B — Google review
Beautiful island. Getting around by bus is great, be prepared to handle their opaque, confusing ticket system though.
Jonathan — Google review
A small place for 2 or 3 days. Some beach activities, boating, diving. Nice restaurants, pedestrian ways in the village and few interesting churches.
Laurent B — Google review
Great island overall! Fair warning, it's helpful to come here with some Italian and open to their culture. This is not as touristic like Positano, Capri, or Sorrento. Went to the port side (near the castle), Forio, and Sant'Angelo. It was very nice even though it was a bit hotter than normal for end of June / early July. Knowing "Italian for travelers" really helps as not as many folks speak English here. They have great food, coffee, gelato, sandy beaches and more!
Kristian J — Google review
Forget overpriced and heavily touristy Capri. Just a stone’s throw away is this hidden gem that the locals go to get away. No price shock here. The best part is a little peninsula on the south called Sant’ Angelo. This is by far the best spot on the island. No cars allowed. Everything moves by these little electric golf carts. The silence is golden. Most of the hotels are up on the cliff, with fantastic views. The main shopping area is full of amazing little shops and artisan boutiques. The only downside is that almost all the restaurants fall into the tourist trap category. Overpriced and plagued with bad service. There are a few decent establishments but, they are hidden off the main stretch or much further away.

Thermal Spas
Nestled in the enchanting landscape of Ischia, Terme di Cavascura is a hidden gem that has been cherished since ancient times. The thermal waters here have attracted visitors for centuries, dating back to the Euboeans in the 8th century BC. These natural springs were revered by the Greeks for their healing properties and were often associated with divine powers, leading to temples dedicated to gods like Apollo.
It was next to the place where I was staying so I decided to try one day when the weather was not very good for the beach. Not overcrowded (maybe because it is a beginning of October), quiet, nice location and surroundings. Receptionist who speaks English and is quite nice. I had an hour of massage and a bath for extra 20 euro that could be included in the price I think. Overall not bad experience and I recommend if you stay nearby.
O M — Google review
Wonderful natural thermal spa, with a sauna right inside a mountain! Delicious fresh orange & lemon juice
Olha Z — Google review
About as authentic an experience as you can get! Really amazing place with history literally seeping out of the walls. Staff could be a bit more interested in what they're doing and show a bit of enthusiasm but the place speaks for itself.
Andy P — Google review
The facilities are indeed ancient, like from the time of the cavemen. Though the prices are high, the personnel can't speak a word of english and isn't even friendly. They smoke right next to the smoke forbidden sign. The road there isn't good either. The Kneipp bath has quite a warm 'cold' part, no cold water in the shower either. And apart from the treatments there is nothing to do and nowhere to hide from the sun. Spend your money in other thermae. My wife tells me at least the mud was good, so one star for that.
Robert H — Google review
Totally worth the experience ! Was unsure at first due to pictures, but in real life this place is so beautiful ! Had full mud, sauna and thermal bath. Felt wonderful towards my muscle aches. Recommend to go there early. Taxi boat from St. Angelo. First day we walked from St Angelo and it was a very challenging 20min walk ! 😅😱 very happy for the taxi boat on the way back
Apple — Google review
Cavascura is a very interesting experience. They offer packages including masks and massages. We took the basic hot bath in a stone tub, which was very relaxing. The sauna cave was good as well. The place is very small, so it gets crowded quickly. When we visited, it was luckily nearly empty. We took a boat ride from San Angelo to get there. To return, you have to wait at a designated pickup spot at the beach. The waiting time was about 10-15 minutes. Alternatively, you can also walk from San Angelo.
Linda S — Google review
Pro's: relaxed, nature, special place, friendly, exotic, some speak English Con's: bit expensive, certain thing are on a timer, small Went on a really hot and sunny day. Took the 35€ deal, that included a bath, Turkish sauna, full body clay and chair to relax on with a parasol. Had to wait about 20 minutes before a place was available (come on time if you don't want to wait a bit). Fruit drink with ice cost 5€, that is also fine. If you arrive in porto Ischia, buy a day bus ticket and take bus #5 that goes to Monsanti and exit at the final stop, you'll have to walk around 15 minutes via the beach, including a large steep part in order to reach the place. All in all, please visit this. Paying with card is possible. Internet is quite slow here.

Nestled less than a kilometer from the charming village of Sant'Angelo lies Succhivo, a hidden gem that often goes unnoticed. This quaint district was once renowned for its wine production alongside Serrara, Fontana, and Ciglio. As you stroll through the narrow streets known as 'e curtegl' in the local Ischitan dialect, you'll be greeted by vibrant citrus groves and lush gardens that paint a picturesque scene.

Gardens
Giardini la Mortella is a stunning hillside garden in Forio, featuring a diverse collection of tropical and Mediterranean flora, enchanting water features, and breathtaking bay views. Originally purchased by the renowned English composer Sir William Walton in 1949, with the help of landscape architect Russel Page, it was transformed into a paradise. The gardens boast an array of rare plants including the celebrated Gingko Biloba and the mesmerizing Victoria Amazonica.
I'm a gardener so I'm always keen to visit a botanical garden wherever I go, but this one is truly spectacular. A mystical panoply of all types of plants from different regions. Some really special orchids and water plants. Nooks, ponds and rockeries galore. Highly recommend. You could easily spend all day there so be careful. Really good price for the wonders on offer. Enjoy!
Callum M — Google review
While the beauty and care with which the gardens have been cultivated are truly admirable, my visit was unfortunately overshadowed by the fact that smoking is permitted within the grounds. Allowing visitors to smoke in such a serene, carefully preserved natural environment is not only detrimental to the air quality and atmosphere but also deeply detracts from the experience for those who come seeking peace, beauty, and inspiration. The gardens, created over many years with such dedication and vision, deserve to be enjoyed in a setting that respects their tranquility and ecological integrity. Sadly, the presence of cigarette smoke made it difficult to fully appreciate the space and ambiance that Sir William Walton and Lady Susana Walton so lovingly brought to life. I strongly urge the Foundation to reconsider its policy on smoking within the gardens. Implementing a non-smoking rule would preserve the healthful environment, enhance the experience for all visitors, and align more closely with the spirit of harmony and reflection that La Mortella was clearly intended to embody.
Mr X — Google review
Gorgeous gardens (ticket 12 €), quite large, so you will spend some time here. There is even a small cafe bar with some food right under the Greek theater (you can also find toilets here, next to the theater). We also caught the concert in the evening from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM and the ticket cost only 8 €. Fallowing the song for parking and ticket office if you are by car (around 1 km from down, another entrance by foot).
Ady Y — Google review
This is a must-visit-place if you visit Ischia! The place is incredible, and there's so many wonderful, beautiful and unique places. Make sure to have plenty of time, and it is a big garden and theres quite a lot of walking, paths up and down, elevations and stairs. At the very top and bottom, trees offer you a bit of shade and fresh air. The the levels in between, the sun and stairs can make it an incredibly warm experience. Make sure to bring water and something for your blood sugar if it is a very warm day. The place is relatively easy to reach by public transportation. Parking is a bit more tricky, however if you enjoy a slightly challenging drive on small roads there's a small parking lot at the very top of the garden.
Jeff O — Google review
If you’ve visited botanical gardens in other major cities (500,000+ population), this one won’t surprise you — it’s pleasant, but quite standard. Plan for about an hour to see everything. One important tip: there are a lot of tiger mosquitoes here. If you’re not familiar with them, look them up and make sure to bring repellent — it will make your visit much more enjoyable.
Mark F — Google review
Beautiful environment, full of different plant species. 🌿 Highly recommend getting tickets for the concert they host it’s an amazing experience with incredible views! 🎶✨
Bilge S — Google review
A stunning set of gardens. Tranquil and inspiring. We also enjoyed an outdoor concert one evening whichbwas also a joy with all the scent from the garden mixing in with the frogs chorus from the ponds. Cant recommend more highly. Wegot there for when it opened at 9 as it was cooler and less busy.

Lido
Nestled along the picturesque Cavagrado beach in Succhivio, Bar Ristorante Lido da Marie offers a delightful escape for those seeking both relaxation and culinary pleasure. This charming pebble beach, framed by stunning lava cliffs and warmed by natural springs, is accessible via a scenic staircase that rewards visitors with its tranquil atmosphere and crystal-clear waters. The restaurant itself is a gem, serving up an array of delicious options from affordable paninis and salads to exquisite pasta dishes and fresh seafood.
Lovely, clean beach with comfortable loungers and umbrellas - 2 loungers and 1 umbrella for 20 euros at the end of the season. Nice bar and restaurant with good low cost options for lunch (panini, bruschetta, salads) as well as more pricey pasta and seafood options. Very nice staff serving you - a lovely place to come for the day :)
Jo W — Google review
Very rude and aggressive staff. We just wanted to have some coffee with dessert. We went to the bar and placed our bags on the chairs at the table where we planned to sit. The staff started shouting that we couldn’t sit at a table unless we ordered food, and without even waiting for us to take our things, they began yelling, throwing our bags on the floor, and even kicking them. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. It’s better to walk a little further up the road, where you’ll find wonderful venues with an incredible sea view, prices about 30% cheaper, friendly service, and delicious food. That’s exactly what we did. We enjoyed both coffee and a proper meal there.
Jane K — Google review

Harish R — Google review
So delicious! We had lunch here twice on our holiday, it was incredible both times. Fresh fish with a gorgeous view. Recommend booking in the morning for lunch if you are spending the day at the beach as it's a tiny restaurant.
EmilyCE — Google review
The only bar on the beach so it has the monopoly at this very small, overcrowded beach. The prices are high and the staff are extremely rude, So many lovely cafes on this island its not worth visiting here plus the beach is mostly private so better off going to the beach in San Angelo which is very nearby. Not welcoming at all.

Torrione, a prominent landmark in Forio, was constructed in 1480 and served as a strategic defense tower. It features two floors with the ground floor used for storing weapons and munitions while also housing a rain-water tank. The upper floor accommodated the garrison and was equipped with cannons on its terrace. Forio is not only rich in history but also boasts natural beauty, including pristine beaches like San Francesco's beach and La Chiaia.

Such a fun stop along the road! That's the owner, Enzo, in the blue. A real character! The juice from his little stand is outstanding!

Telly not that interesting place , you just might skip it. Beach is very small and attached to harbor, most of it is covered by rental umbrellas and chairs, just a small strip is free. People who are renting it are very rude. It is nice place to see , maybe better from a far, but definitely not of interest when it comes to swimming or diving.
DAnica J — Google review
When we arrived the water was a bit dirty but we managed to swim in some clean spots. The sand is thick, almost like little stones that don't hurt the feet. It was an amazing experience feeling the hot water coming from the sand. I really liked this beach. Check out my photography account on Instagram to see more of my photos: @alex_kei__ Have a nice day!

The Casa Museo is a museum dedicated to eccentric artisans who have made their homes in the cliffs and mountains of Ischia. It's well signposted, has a parking lot, and is welcoming to visitors with Salvatore, the owner, being incredibly friendly. The exhibits include a variety of ancient staff found by senior Salvatore, as well as some unique creations created by him. There's no charge for admission but donations are always appreciated by the owner.
Casa Museo is a truly magical place. It was a house for a lovely family up in the mountains and the father reimagined it . A blend of creativity, art, nature and exceptional execution. Pop in on your way up from Serrara Fontana and you will be inspired! Don’t forget to climb up the viewing platform. True gem!

Weird and interesting place. A lot of ancient staff found in mountains by senior Salvatore. Entrance is free, but owner will be very happy if you put some euros in the guest plate.

A spectacularly bonkers home, carved into the rocks, full of weird and wonderful creations sculpted by the absolute boi Salvatore. He doesn't speak a word of English, is incredibly welcoming and has a charming dog. The world would be a worse place without these brilliant eccentrics. Molto Grazie!

Must see if visit Ischia island. One of the top attractions of the island. Very weird, crazy, interesting place... Entry fee depends on you.

Took a 40 minute bus drive just to visit this place and it was well worth it. It's artsy, beautiful and incredibly mystifying. A hidden gem and definitely one of the island's highlights!

The Associazione Nemo for the diffusion of maritime culture offers snorkeling tours on Ischia. These are highly recommended, as you can see breathtaking underwater views from beneath the water's surface. However, advanced booking is required via phone because there is a limited number of spots available.
This snorkelling excursion was one of the highlights of my trip. GianLuca and Luca were both such amazing guides and snorkelling around Sant Angelo was a beautiful way to experience Ischia’s sea life and see the island from a different perspective. Would truly recommend, it was such a refreshing experience.

Excellent guided snorkle tour and trekk through the mountain. Beautiful. 100% recommended. Unfortunately we won't be here for the full moon trekking. But looks a must do any other time. Small groups that makes it more special and personal. Phone booking recommended. See you again asap!!!

The snorkeling tour was exceptional - highly recommend. 30€ p.p. for a guided tour, even hold an Octopus in our hands. Advanced booking via phone required.

(Translated by Google) The Nemo association is located in S.Angelo, Ischia. It offers sea activities for adults and children. They offer various proposals for snorkeling excursions at sea. I brought my 7 and 13 year old children and it was a great experience. Reliable, well-prepared and good at relating to children. The price includes the equipment, before going into the sea they do a moment of explanation and preparation. The outing takes place in total safety, also suitable for children's rhythms and the sea truly offers many surprises. Thanks to Luca and Gianluca for the enthusiasm and availability with which they accompanied us. And don't forget to put your head under water in this splendid sea! We had an amazing private snorkeling tour with Luca and it was absolutely fabulous! He explained everything in detail and really took his time in the water to point things out. We saw so many different kinds of fish and even got to hold a sea cucumber, sea star, and an octopus. Such a unique and unforgettable experience. We loved Luca – highly recommend!

Belvedere di Serrara is a picturesque viewpoint located in the mountains of Ischia, accessible via a short hike from Fontana square. The trail winds through chestnut woods and wild countryside, taking about an hour to reach the top of Mount Epomeo. From there, visitors can enjoy stunning panoramic views stretching from the Bay of Naples to the islands of Ventotene and Ponza on clear days. The area offers a refreshing escape from the heat, with cool winds and beautiful scenery.
Best view of the southern island? Stop here is highly recommended. We lovede it.

Beautiful view port on Ischia, in pictursque Serrara Fontana district. It is located in mountains, so usually it is fresh and windy here. I like it very much, perfect for a relief even in very hot days. It is great to take a car at the sea level (doesn't matter where is your stay) and drive around the Island with one of the stops in Serrara Fontana. You will love it! 😊

Le fumarole dei Maronti is a unique geothermal beach on the island of Ischia, Italy. The area is famous for its mineral-rich thermal waters and hot sands, where locals have been known to cook food underground due to the extreme temperatures. This beach boasts a fascinating phenomenon of sand emitting volcanic vapors, thanks to the ancient volcanic activity that also provides a series of hot springs around the island.
Very relaxing. I went around 10pm and was pretty quiet. There are signs you can follow as well as Google directions. Once you get onto the beach you turn left, go past all the chairs and umbrellas , there is a little path above the rocks, go through that and then you are there … I dug myself a hole and laid in it and watched the stars.. it was fantastic!!!

Beautiful area with lots of lovely local restaurants. Very well known for their natural high springs.

Most of the beach is private. On a hot day some spots on the sand is very hot, so wear shoes. Walk to the far left to get to the public part. The hike there has some nice views.
Justine T — Google review

Catholic church
The Catholic church Chiesa di San Ciro, located on the island, is dedicated to the worship of Saint Giacomo in addition to San Ciro and Madonna Assunta. The interior houses a recently restored statue of Saint Giacomo, known as Santiago, who is revered as the protector of paths. This small church also features a water source within its walls.

(Translated by Google) The church is dedicated to S. Giacomo and the Madonna dell'Assunta, founded in 1661. It was destroyed in the earthquake of 1883 and then subsequently rebuilt. Green tuff stones were used. A curiosity, under the church passes a small water source that originates from Mount Epomeo. This church is unique in the world precisely because of its green stones on the outside. Inside it is simple but well-kept with statues representing S. Giacomo, S. Ciro and the Assumption. Probably being in a rural district of the island it is not very popular but certainly worth a stop.
