Nature preserve
Fuerte Caprón, originally built during the Spanish occupation and reconstructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1930, offers stunning views of Guanica Bay. The hike to the fort takes around 30 minutes and is free to access. It's recommended to wear sneakers due to rocky terrain. The trail also offers a longer option taking about 2 hours. Once at the top, visitors are rewarded with spectacular scenery for photo opportunities.
This place was absolutely breath taking. Suggest going early morning before the sun is over head. Wear proper hiking shoes, fairly steep, rocky climb with amazing views all the way up if you need to take a break and enjoy. Once up there you’ll realize why you did it. About 20-35 min each way.
Marie V — Google review
Very steep path with lots of rocks so be prepared with plenty of water and wear hiking shoes. The views are spectacular. The city should add additional signs to ensure the safety of their guests.
Be H — Google review
We enjoyed this hike it was about 25 minutes really gravel trail and very hot I recommend proper footwear and water for hydration, the view was all worth it!
Rameci R — Google review
Nice short hike with beautiful views! Just be sure to go earlier in the day, and bring water to hydrate!
Pierina L — Google review
25 to 30 minute hike but tolerable !! I love it !!❤️Parked on the side
Joselyne M — Google review
Impressive historical site with a stunning view. From the parking place on the road side it’s about a 30 minute walk which is not too challenging. The walk is beautiful already and offers a scenic view across the bay. Once on top you have a 360 degree view which is breathtaking. Take some time to really enjoy and take it in! 🤗🌈🇵🇷
Jürgen E — Google review
Wow, talk about beautiful scenery. The hike up the mountain was around 30 minutes or so to the top of Fort and it's free. We visited with a family member that resides locally. The hike has the option to walk the full trail as well, which can be around 2 hours, but we elected the shorter walk. The view and pictures were spectacular. I highly recommend that everyone explore if you are in the area. Sneakers are highly recommended as there are many rocks of all sizes on the ground. It was a great workout, I highly encourage to check it out.
Susana L — Google review
This place is totally worth the trip, even though it’s a bit of a hike and you’ll need to be in shape. The 25-minute walk along the mountain road is totally worth it for the breathtaking views of the Guanica Ensenada. The road is wide and clear, so you can enjoy the scenery without any worries.

Playa Jaboncillo is a half-moon-shaped beach that offers a tranquil escape with its beautiful landscape and clean waters. It's less crowded than other nearby beaches, making it perfect for sunbathing and enjoying the surroundings. The rock formations surrounding the beach also provide an opportunity for a nice hike along the coastline. While some visitors have noted occasional seaweed and rocky areas, others appreciate the peaceful atmosphere, lack of crowds, and opportunities for snorkeling.
Excellent views well worth the drive off the beaten path
Nick W — Google review
it has obviously seen better days. the government has completely abandoned this once beautiful vacation area. however the beach is great, clean, has trash cans, lots of space. best beach on the south side of the island.
Lia M — Google review
Secluded and peaceful beach with no waves. Great to relax and enjoy God's creation!
Luis C — Google review

Aixa B — Google review
A perfect and relax spot when you want to go to the beach. They work as a partnership between the Natural Resources Department and a non profit consortium who charge $2.00 per person so there are not a crowd place. With fresh water shower and a natural bathroom the water was in a perfect temperature. Perfect for families or couples!!
Cfnlaw S — Google review
This is a lovely little crescent beach with nice public infrastructure. There is a sign that mentions a $2 pp entry fee but we couldn't find any way to pay it. There is seaweed during the summer months and the water is more green, but during the winter, it's stunning with crystal aqua waters and clean sand. Lots of sea glass washes up and it looks like great snorkelling, but we haven't done it yet. The road down to the beach has been improved and while still a bit bumpy, it is well defined and safe for any vehicle to manage.
Tammy S — Google review
Went to this beach when the gate was close. A monday to be specific. Nobody on sight. There is a little path you can take to get down there. Once you are there. Prepare to be amazed by the beauty of the coastline.

Nestled on the southern coast of Puerto Rico, Guánica State Forest spans an impressive 9,878 acres and is recognized as a United Nations International Biosphere Reserve. This unique subtropical dry forest boasts a rich ecosystem that supports over 600 species of flora and fauna, including numerous endangered birds—48 species to be exact, with 16 being endemic to the island. The forest's arid climate may seem surprising given its biodiversity, but it creates a distinct environment perfect for exploration.
Beautiful desert like settings on the coast this was my first time there but won't be the last, next time I will stay over night a lot of cactus which was a treat
J. S — Google review
Very rocky terrain. Not alot of shade. But only took an hour for what we did.
Cynthia H — Google review
If you like being outdoors this is a great place to take pictures view is wonderful in the atmosphere is really easy
Carol — Google review
Unfortunately the hurricane destroyed a lot of the area as well as a part of the road to get there. The parking is a little further so it's a nice walk through the area to see all the beautiful places. Went there for the sunset which was really good and nice to see. There were only a few others. Roads towards the parking are good and the local people are nice as well.
Sander R — Google review
Beautiful, however houses have been built on the side of the beach close together leaving no access to the beach area.
Ana E — Google review
Great for the whole family, awesome snorkeling
Alex P — Google review
This is a review for a short (one hour) visit since we arrived almost at closing time. You can very well spend the entire day exploring the many trails. This is a fantastic natural escape that's easily accessible with ample parking. The forest offers stunning views and various trails suitable for casual walks or more adventurous hikes. The heat can be intense, make sure you take plenty of water to drink and communicate the ranger where are you heading to. The forest reserve is a biodiverse hotspot, showcasing Puerto Rico's rich flora and fauna. Exploring the trails provides an immersive experience into the region's natural beauty and ecological diversity. It's not just a place for nature lovers; it's an educational opportunity to appreciate and understand Puerto Rico's ecological significance and conservation efforts.
Gian T — Google review
What a cool place, a hidden gem in Puerto Rico. I highly recommend visiting here. The main visitor center was destroyed in an earthquake a year ago (according to the park ranger). At first we didn't really know what to do here since the park ranger was at lunch and there were only 2 other cars in the parking lot. We ate a picnic near the visitor center and used the clean bathrooms nearby. By the time we had ate, the park ranger was back and told us about the trials. There's only a handful of trails and he recommended the trail that makes a loop and has an option to go to El Vigia view point. If we do this trail, I highly recommended going to the view point, it is only about an extra 15 minutes and is absolutely stunning. The main trial is 45 minutes (without the view point detour) and doesn't have a ton to look at, though the whole hike is nice, easy, and interesting considering you are in a dry forest on a Caribbean Island. Definitely check out the cave nearby the picnic area, that was really cool too!

Finca El Girasol is a stunning destination where you can immerse yourself in the beauty of fields filled with tall sunflowers. The picturesque landscape offers a perfect opportunity for photography, but visitors are reminded to respect local rules and refrain from picking the flowers. The entry fee is only $2 per person, allowing you to wander through the fields and take as many pictures as you like. Additionally, there's a store where you can purchase fresh cut sunflowers without harming the ones in the field.
This was a lovely experience to see all the sunflowers growing and getting to choose and cut my own for purchase... Had a nice time... The cover charge was $2.00 and the sunflower was $3.00..
Carmen O — Google review
A nice farm to visit if you like sunflowers. Not too big for a quick 30 minute walk, nothing fancy. Entry is $2.
Be H — Google review
Kids don’t pay. I’m not sure of the ages they allow for no entrance fee. Call and ask. My son is 5 and did not pay to go in. Bring water. Porta potty available. Ample parking. No food for sale here. Not a lot of walking but some walking. Call before you go. Remember sunflowers have seasons and they are not always in the best shape so call to ensure they have plenty to take really good pictures. We came on a Sunday and we probably did the entire place in about 30 minutes. We chose our flower, asked the workers to help us cut it and we chose one with the baby yellow center as they will last you longer. Dont go for the ones with the normal darker center because those will only last a day or so. Sunflowers are $3 each. Support local of course!
Michelle V — Google review
Super cute off the beaten path. Make sure you have $2 to walk the field. Come early so the sun isn’t too hot.
Marie V — Google review
Nice spot to see a nice field of sunflowers. The entrance is 2 per person and no time limit. The field was a bit damage on our visit but still nice to look around and take pictures. Experience might vary I assume depending on how well the field is in general.
Carlos E — Google review
Very beautiful especially since I went towards sunset right before they closed at 6pm. Entrance is a $2 fee. The owners were very amicable and friendly even though I was their last customer of the day :) I went in early November.
Virginia P — Google review
Beautiful place. Entrance to go around is $2.00. You can also buy girasoles and other souveniers homemade they have. Amazing place. There’s a lake eight in front of the house at the end.
Wilma H — Google review
🤩 🌻 🤩 Finca El Girasol is a must see destination. The fields of sunflowers are absolutely stunning. My group spent about 2 hours walking around the grounds, enjoying the beautiful scenery and backdrops, taking pictures, and purchasing fresh cut sunflowers from the store. We were there in June. It was hot, so be sure to bring water with you as you’re walking around. There isn’t shade except near the entrance and store. Love this place and can’t wait to return! 🌻🌻🌻

Manglillo Chiquito is a secluded sandy beach with a unique mangrove habitat, offering a tranquil and undeveloped setting for visitors. The area features gazebos, simple picnic spots, and warm waters perfect for swimming. Although the facilities are in disrepair, the charm of the place lies in its unspoiled natural beauty. Additionally, there are opportunities for snorkeling near coral reefs just offshore and exploring interesting mangrove canals.
A small and special beach for a unique experience. All the facilities are broken and destroyed but the place has it’s own charm. Small cosy places to linger and sit and very warm water. In the back you can make your way through a „secret“ but obvious path over rocky terrain to an even lonelier beach.
Jürgen E — Google review
Secluded public access beach. Good for local picnics, but a little difficult to get to. No parking.
Jacob B — Google review
Pleasant, small beach. Sandy beach with mangroves. The place was empty on a week day morning. Several simple picnic spots. Sign suggested a $2 entry fee, but no place to pay. Bathrooms and showers were broken/closed. If you can cross lots of sharp rocks, the faint trail at the back of the area leads to a lovely secluded beach after a 15 minute or so hike.
Mary E — Google review
❤️Secluded beach all to yourself! Swim around the trees and bushes. Clear and clean water. Spend the day having a picnic.
Jae R — Google review
Fishing should be banned here , fishing nets are everywhere in the shore, inside the beach and between the mangroves. Nothing like it was before
Street W — Google review
What an amazing place to visit, you’ll definitely enjoy it, the place hace bathroom places to change little huts for BBQ o and don’t forgot to invest in some Inflatable so you can float
Edan C — Google review
Perfect place to have a picnic or walk the dog, the place has its little huts for recreation, the water was kind of dirty and the trails were not maintained, other than that it was very beautiful!
Francis G — Google review
A unique beach with mangroves is pretty to see but not worth going out of your way to visit. The mangroves are very lovely however there's a lot of abandoned infrastructure that detract from the natural beauty. There is limited parking and a very very tiny Beach for swimming not worth making a special trip for

Great jet ski tour that is very focused on the beauty of the environment! The process of starting the tour to the safety briefing was fast and to the point. Raphael was friendly and educated us well on each stop. 10/10 I would book again!
Danica M — Google review
What a great experience! We decided last minute to do a jet ski hour tour while staying in La Parguera. Was able to book the tour directly on the website of Eco Water Adventure. The process was easy and when I had a question, I was able to reach someone right away via texting past 5pm. The tour itself was fantastic. We drove to a mangrove. Got to swim there and drove all around the bay. Rafael was easy to follow and did a great job showing us the area. We can’t recommend this tour more.
Jie L — Google review
Amazing jet ski experience. Well worth the price (which is not bad at all) and they take you to very many places. They are very kind and go at a good pace. You will get a bit of an arm work out, as they are covering a lot of water to see so many cool spots!
Luis R — Google review
Amazing day on the water with Rafael! He is friendly and knowledgeable, showed us a ton of islands and mangroves and reefs. We even saw some dolphins on our tour!! It was a blast. 10/10 would recommend, do the 2 hr tour if you have the time to see more.

You have been in my familys trying times without even knowing of it and you have proove to be together 💕 with us a medicine to our soul. Como dice el buen Puertorriqueña que Jehovah Dios te bendiga. 😘

Was here on 02/29/24 Me and my friends were late for our tour for hour and half, team just waited for us, we got two jet ski for 4 ppl , tour was amazing, our guide Rafael did a really good job, he showed many islands and some hidden gems, snorkeling and let us freestyle ride it as well but for that you must listen and follow his instructions so he can trust you! Strongly recommend even if you live far away! I drove almost two hours to get to them and it was worth it🤙🏽
Maksym M — Google review
I had done the tour with my wife a few months ago and absolutely loved it. When friends came from out of town, we wanted to do it again with them. We booked a tour online and realized we had a time conflict. They responded to text after hours and changed our schedule. When we showed up, we had made the mistake of booking 4 jet skis instead of 2 for 4 people. They were kind and refunded our money. The second tour was just as great as the first one. I couldn’t recommend them more. Thank you Rafael for guiding us on a private tour. We will be back with more friends.
Graham F — Google review
The jet ski tour was pretty awesome!! I took my 13 year old son so he wasn't allowed to drive, but he said riding on the jetskis was just as fun! The tour guide was really cool and made sure to come back to where we were at the end of the line of jetskis and made sure to tell us everything he was telling the people at the front. He waited for everyone to get to each destination and explained how to operate the jetskis in a very easy to understand way. Getting to get off and hangout in water at Gilligan's island was definitely a highlight! He even had snorkel gear if anyone wanted to use it. He pointed out a lot of different fish and sea life. The only downside I can think of is the damage the hurricanes in recent years, have done. We weren't able to go to the usual spots the tour goes on because of all the damage from the hurricanes, but they made sure we still got our money's worth for sure! It's just sad to think of all the damage and what was there before. 😢😢. I do wish we could have seen some Manatees, but that's just being nitpicky. Lol. 10/10 would definitely highly recommend!!

Playa La Jungla is a stunning beach destination that offers a serene and uncrowded atmosphere. With its clear, warm waters and absence of strong currents, it's an ideal spot for families and snorkeling enthusiasts. The beach provides both sunny stretches and shaded areas, making it suitable for all preferences. Visitors can explore the mangroves or bring their own snorkeling gear to witness the captivating sea beds.
Closed on Mondays.somehow the app said it was open. It wasn’t. You can’t take your car in on Mondays! So instead we walked in, we were there already, but with tot in tow we didn’t go the full 30 min walk - instead took the first inlet to the beach. While initially rocky - the spot was beautiful, calm and quiet. Lots of crabs and fish hiding in and around the patches of seaweed. Amazing for a toddler, shallow crystal clear water.
TKO E — Google review
A hidden gem! 🌴 To get here you’ll need a 4x4 vehicle, but the trip is worth it. The beach is beautiful with crystal-clear, clean water and a peaceful atmosphere away from the crowds. Perfect spot if you’re looking for a more natural and quiet beach experience. Highly recommended for adventure seekers. 🌊🏝️
Nestor C — Google review
Visited Santa Beach and Playa La Jungle which is totally worth $2/person (free under 12). We hiked a trail marked by orange flagging ribbons to a secluded beach rich with shore life. The 10-15min walk through the jungle and mangroves was easy but takes and adventurous spirit to keep going past midway where the sandy path has up to 2"of clear water for a short stretch. Right at the end the flagged path was also overgrown a bit. My teen boys liked the adventure of this spot but our group was a mix of adventurous and hesitant. I'm so glad the adventurous voted us onward when we almost stopped at the watery section. (I highly recommend wearing water shoes if you plan to attempt the hike to Almendro the "hidden beach"). The sandy cove is gorgeous and provides an opportunity for wildlife observation since the shore is mostly bits of coral and shells with many hermit grabs roaming the rocks.
Melissa M — Google review
Amazing place to venture to! They are closed on Mondays, but during the week it’s $2 p/p to park. The beach is not super crowded or busy. You don’t have to worry about currents. Walk through the mangroves or snorkel (bring your own gear) right past the sea beds for some amazing views. Get there before noon!
Sarah A — Google review
We were expecting some waves. If you are looking for a remote place, that the ocean looks like a giant swimming pool then this is your place. Safe for kids. The parking is $5. You pay in the main gate and drive 5 minutes south. We arrived at 3 pm and we were able to get parking. It should not be a problem. The gate closes a 5 pm, so plan to start driving out at 4:30. There are not shops or restaurants in this area so plan to bring your own refreshments. Water is clean and the sand is not bad. Overall it was a nice place to spend time with family and get the experience of local recreation. 45 minutes drive from Ponce.
Luis Z — Google review
Garbage from beach goers welcomed us back to this remote, southern beach, including dirty diapers and used tampon dispensers, fishing line, styrofoam plates, plastic bags, cups, and bottles that blanket the mangroves and the grasses behind the parking area. The wind blows trash back from the beach where people leave their garbage everywhere from family picnics. Feral dogs survive on discarded food and may be aggressive to some pets. Someone put up a handmade sign in Spanish in the parking area reminding people to throw away their garbage, but no garbage cans can be found at this protected reserve. This is a favorite local beach with enough people visiting every day to fund proper cleanup and care. Sadly, charging people and a reservation system may be required to mitigate human impact at this beach park and marine ecosystem. Because these beach goers here don’t seem to care about preserving this natural resource. #killtrashnotturtles

Great spot... Very desolated but its a gem of a beach

La Jungla Beach is a hidden gem nestled in the Guanica town of Puerto Rico, just a short 20-minute drive from the city center. With its pristine white sands, clear waters, and lush greenery, it offers an idyllic escape from the daily grind. As part of a national reserve, this beach boasts cotton trees at its entrance and provides plenty of trash containers for visitors' convenience.
Great place to relax with family or romantic leasure. Walk thru the mangroves, snorkel for conk shells and don't worry. $2 per person, cash only, Spanish only.

Lots of places to sit close to the water under mangrove trees and you'll even see some cotton bushes. Worth paying the low fee to enter and park as it's a natural setting with no houses or anything but the ocean, beach and the low slung shady trees. Go to the end of the parking lot for the full crescent view of sand and low trees. Bring your water shoes if you don't like stepping on stumps and hard pack roots but it won't hurt you either with bar feet. Pack in hearty snacks, fruit, a picnic, lots of water/drinks, sunscreen etc as there is nothing to buy there. It closes at 5 pm but they start to urge you to leave by 4:30 pm

This beach is very small, with not a lot of room between the road and the water. There are a few trees with nice shade all around but it is mostly directly in the sun. It is not very deep and has some cool mangroves. There is a $2 entrance fee.

I mean, look at the video. Parking is limited, so get there early. 2$ per person which is ok in my book. Not a lot of shade so bring your umbrella, if you don’t have one get your cousin’s or buy one. Otherwise you will be at the mercy of the Sun. The only con is that there are no bathrooms.

Beautiful beach. Serene and scenic. $2 per person for parking. Gates close at 5pm. Well worth the trip.

Very quiet, calm beach. Lots of turtle grass in the water, but a nice temperature and nice and shallow. Just a little bit of shade from some small trees. The mangroves are lovely, and there are so many species of birds. At the end, follow the trail to Playa Almendra and some nice views of the cays. $2 per person for ages 13+. There's a dumpster by the entrance so you can easily tote your trash out.

Pros- Great “hidden” beach in the south part of Puerto Rico. Calm waters, nice mangroves areas, some shaded areas and little walk from the parking to the beach. Cons-Entrance is $2 p/p in order to “maintain” the area but there are no public shower or restrooms. The close at 5pm which IMO is super early if you are planning to stay all afternoon, enjoy a sunset or just wants to go at night.

I'm from Yauco and I live in Orlando Fl but I loved going there, totally different from previous years, lots of vegetation, the beach was quite clean and good for children and adults. To spend a day with family and friends, very organized and the entrance is 2 dollars per person, not bad, that helps conservation and without noise or people making scandals, it is privatized but the best thing they have done
