📍 Good historical location. You can’t drive your private vehicle all the way to Point Nepean — parking is available only at the entrance. From there, you’ll need to take the shuttle service, which requires a paid return ticket purchased at the start. Note that the shuttle doesn’t operate all the time, so check the schedule beforehand. Alternatively, you can walk barefoot (or in comfortable shoes) for around 4–5 km. Plan at least 2 hours to fully enjoy the surroundings and the historic atmosphere.

The day was rainy with thunder and lightning, peaceful and the solitude I craved. Great walking tracks, asphalt the whole way. The up keep of the fort is good, an historic part of our past. Pack a picnic to share at the Quarantine Station, magnificence buildings.

Great history! Lovely walk around the grounds of the quarantine station at Point Nepean. I advise you to watch a short video about the quarantine station before your walk. Very interesting. There is a lovely little coffee van there on site, too.

Lots of fascinating points of interest along a spectacular scenic coastline. The old gun placements were great to walk around and you really felt in the moment walking through the tunnels under the point. The sites were well signposted with plenty of information detailing the point of interest. Great bus service to get you to the point without having to make the 3 km hike over some very steep hills.

Absolutely stunning! Point Nepean National Park offers a perfect mix of natural beauty, rich history, and adventure. Breathtaking coastal views, peaceful walking trails, and historic forts make it a must-visit. The bike ride to the tip is a highlight — scenic, breezy, and unforgettable!

Lovely historic buildings but basically they are abandoned and in disrepair. I liked reading about the history and enjoyed the tranquil environment. History buffs would enjoy this place. 👍

A great walk along portsea. Its a great and historical location for family. The bus shuttle pass is a good idea for shorter visits. recommend that if its the first time you go, you should walk the 3.8km trail and bus back.

Fort Nepean is a beautiful place to visit. There are cycles for hire, electric ones as well, at the bottom. We got the non electric ones for 25$ as we booked as a group of 4. I recommend taking one as it is a wonderful experience. There is a shuttle bus available as well or you can also hike all the way to the top if you have time. Cycling to and back from the top most point and having a quick glance at everything took us 2 hours. This was also due to the fact that some areas were closed due to safety concerns. I would cater for 3 hours of time if everything was open. The terrain wasn’t too bad but there are some uphill areas that get you pretty tired.

This place is beautiful with amazing views all around!! The mighty ocean on one side, the Phillip bay on the other and you can also see the Queens cliff from top. The fort doesn’t have a lot to offer but otherwise it’s a magical place. Key advice: carry a bicycle or an electric scooter. Otherwise there is shuttle bus service @15$ per person or you will have to walk 2.8-3 km one way!!! I carried my electric scooter. 🛴 Enjoy the pics

Visiting Fort Nepean is such a rewarding experience, both for the history and the breathtaking scenery. From the car park, it’s about a 2 km walk to the tip, and while it’s very manageable, there’s also a shuttle bus available for around $12 if you’d prefer to save your energy. Once you reach the fort, the historic tunnels and gun emplacements blend beautifully with the natural setting, making it easy to lose yourself between the stories of the past and the power of the landscape. Watching the waves crash against the rocks while seabirds circle overhead is something you don’t quickly forget.

Great place for a good hike and a bit of history. Best time to visit is in mid spring or autumn (too hot in summer especially for long walks; too cold for a winter with strong sea breeze). There is a shuttle from car park to fort (with few intermediate stops) but a bit costly (charged $100 for 5 adults and 5 kids). No one-way option. The walk is about 2.5 km but there is a 1km walk up an down inside the fort too. Very picturesque especially on a good sunny day.

Hike was boring at the start there was trees everywhere. As it opens up though, you get this amazing view of the sea. Very hilly, going up hill on the way to the edge, but going down was downhill. Not much to see there was gated off areas, and damaged path, so -1 star. Otherwise the history is worth a trip here

Excellent and reliable shuttle service if you prefer. Friendly bus driver. Well preserved historical sight with detailed information for each war relic and sight. Clean and such a stunning location for pictures also.

A wonderful beach and walk to take your dog off leash. There beach is a short 5-10 minute walk from the car park down steps and a small slope. Some beautiful properties on the cliffside, and a small jetty towards the farther side of the beach. A brilliant walk to take your dog although there's limited shade depending on the time of day.

Nice beach, went about 730pm and no one else around on a Thursday night, easy walking. Not too many shells which was surprising after seeing the name. Interesting to look at how the other half live in the beautiful houses or holiday houses along the cliffs.

The sand is a bit dusty, the kids looked like construction workers after playing in the sand 😀 and all the weeds and grass makes you walk funny 🤪 The car park is next to the road but you’ll have to take the stairs and slope to go down to the beach. Not easy if you’re carrying a 40 kg cooler No toilets or showers 🚿 nearby Other than that, great spot to watch ships 🛳️ arriving and departing Melbourne. Water is excellent.

One of my favourite spots to walk the beach and to take photos. There are some stairs to get up and down but worth it for a great beach.

One of my go to places when I'm right down on the point of the Mornington Peninsula. Shelly beach has so much to offer for photography. There are multiple unique jetties, beach huts and great for drone photography too.

Lovely beaches & beautiful clear water. Visited in February during the week & it was quiet. There is a couple of nice cafes & the Portsea Hotel very close to the beach. It has a lovely small community feel.

Booking was simple and quick. Customer Service from first lass at Sorrento greeting us through to the return trip, was amazingly brilliant. Everyone was friendly and very helpful to any passenger that required extra support. Coffee was lovely, the crossing was good and a lot of choices on where to sit. Highly recommend the ferry, fantastic way to relax instead of sitting in traffic from the Peninsula to Queenscliff. I was a foot passenger, parked my car up on the hill for all day parking. Took the 8am sailing from Sorrento and returned on the 5pm from Queenscliff.

Always great service this business. I have to highlight the help and assistance for my disabled friend. The lift didnt work on the older boat, and everyone was so assisting today. I was just doing a drop off and pick up, but thoughly impressed, even down to the wonderful staff in the ticketing area, who made great coffees.

I catch the ferry from Sorrento to Queenscliff every 2nd week and the process is so easy! The staff are fanatic at loading the cars carefully on the boat and the staff at the terminals and upstairs at the cafe are all so sweet and nice! It’s a 40 minute boat ride each way, once you’re on, you’re getting off, it goes so quickly!

A neat & tidy, comfortable and quick way to cross Port Phillip Bay... from Sorrento to Queenscliff (or vice-versa). Easy to board and disembark... on foot, or with a vehicle... and with food, drinks and gifts available on board.

Took the ferry from Queenscliff to Sorrento for the first time, bringing our car along, and it was such a smooth and enjoyable experience! The cabin was clean and comfortable, and there was even a little café onboard. I wasn’t expecting much, but the almond croissant was absolutely delicious — seriously one of the best I’ve had, and only $5! The trip went by so quickly, just chatting and taking photos. If you’re planning a visit to the Mornington Peninsula for the hot springs but don’t want to drive all the way around, this is a perfect and relaxing option. Highly recommend!

Searoad Ferry - The Queen of The Ocean. Where do I begin.. I don't consider myself a particularly wealthy man, this was apparent when I first observed the customers on board. The ship seemed to be seperated, the fancy rich customers had there nose turned up towards us more middle / lower class. However I would be one lady from wealth, she is beautiful and elegant and I truly questioned why she would entertain a street rat such as myself. We first would share a few libations together and an elegant meal with the rest of the high-end customers. Afterwards we would attend the lower class area to which we then Irish danced together laughing and having the time of our lives. We then would sneak to the bow of the ship, I will never forget how I held her by her luscious hips, her arms fully extended out on the bow of the ship, as I thought "I'm king of the World". To finish off this truly amazing voyage, we snack back to the hold of the vessel, where we would share a night full of passion and romance. I would draw this stunning lady like one of my french girls before we would sneak into the back seat of a car to become.... Ummmm better acquainted. And now we are here, the vessel is getting close to our destination. It is extremely cold on the ship right now and I believe I see an ice berg in the distance. This would normally have me in a panic, however the staff are all extremely professional and they call this ship "The Unsinkable", I'm sure there's nothing to be worried about. All I can think about right now is when we finally land will I go back to my everyday life, or will I live a new life of magic and wonder with this women who I consider the love of my life. I usually only leave a review when it's five stars, and I felt like every single one of them on Wednesday's winter's walk. Wild and remote and yet a stone's throw from where it's all happening, Sorrento beach and its surrounds leaves any hiker feeling content, comfortable and surprisingly warm away from the beach, protected as the climbs are by dense foliage. The dramatic vista to an Anglophile such as myself certainly hit the spot, and I plan on making the trip from Mornington at least three times a week. Take a packed lunch and make a day of it.

Beautiful sunset views with the rough ocean waves and sandstone cliffs. A short clamber across the rocks on the far right will treat you to direct view of the setting sun, a more secluded beach and more cool rocks. Just make sure to be careful of the incoming tide. An amazing stop on our trip down south and would definitely come by again.

Sorrento Ocean Beach is no secret but is still one of my favourite beaches in the peninsula. This beach faces the Bass Strait, so the ocean is rougher, wilder, more dramatic which attracts surfers or people who like waves. If you like rugged coastline, rock pools, crashing waves and strong winds now and then, this place is awesome. Access is easy enough with plenty of parking around. There's a nice café with a good selection of food and drinks. I like to just grab a coffee and watch the surf and then either go for a hike up the lookout. There are also another longer walking track which hugs along the cliffs. The rock pools are a highlight, especially at low tide. The scenery is great for photos and attracts a family with kids playing and exploring in the rock pools. The beach itself has stretches of sand but also quite a few rocks in and around the water, which means swimming is risky in places. There are life saving flags at busy times, but it does get dangerous around the rocks or when the waves are big. Crowds pick up in summer, especially on weekends, so it can feel packed at peak times and parking can be a pain then. Overall though, it’s one of my favourite ocean‑beaches near Melbourne. It’s dramatic, beautiful, and feels like a proper ocean escape. Just bring your swimmers, hat, water, and respect the surf. You’ll leave feeling refreshed and a little awed.

Easy parking, great view. Toilets are pretty accessible too. Very windy especially when climbing up the stairs.

Sorrento beach has been my favourite for a long time. Went to the other side of beach earlier which was all over the rocks. However this time I got a chance to have a look on sandy side of the beach and that too over the sunset it was picture perfect. Kids were happy playing in the sand. The beach has a nice cafe just at the entry which you can try. There is a view point too at the top. Couldn’t go there though so can’t share any pics. But beach nice and clean with amazing views. Water is clean and blue .

Best way to Melbourne. Crystal Clearwater, amazing. Rock pools. Sunset doesn't disappoint.🩵

Here is a snapshot of my TripAdvisor Review of Portsea Beach. There are a few levels of carparks, which are free, but time limited. There are picnic tables facing out over the bay in some areas and there are public toilets on different levels. As you walk down the many stairs to reach the beach you will find the Portsea Surf Club. Handy to know this incase you need help. There ware walking tracks that lead to the Sphinx Rock and to London Bridge, just to name a few. TIPS: Wearing sturdy walking shoes and taking a pair of flip flops / thongs in your bag to sway into. Sunscreen and a hat is a must [our sun is harsh no matter the time of year] Layering of clothes [including bathers if you are inclined to swim] Water and snacks **Read the signs in regards to swimming and how long you can park **Be vigilant of local wildlife **Time of day to visits depends on you and the parking restrictions Worth a visit now that restrictions are slowly being lifted.

Close to Fort Napean, do visit this amazing beach - there is also a way to get down on the other side of the carpark, where you will also find a beach!

What a beautiful place to go, the views are incredible, and the waves crashing in is something that has to be heard to appreciate the experience that not just me who loved it, but the 3 overseas visitors were in awe of this place

Heaven basically. One of the most beautiful spots in Victoria to go swimming at. Beware there are no lifeguards here so swim at your own risk.

Caught an uber to mernda and took a casual stroll to the back beach for some r&r .a bit cold here today but the serenity of this private beach is worth the visit.

I really enjoyed this walk. The water vistas are outstanding with interesting and beautiful properties to image their views. It’s a short walk, but can be extended by walking along the shore line. Also the sunny day adds to this experience.

We went on a public holiday, after lunch, which was great as there was car parking available & the walk wasn't crowded. This is an easy walk along the cliff top, with lovely views of the bay & the coastline.

Interesting, short walk on the clifftops of Portsea. Most millionaire’s homes can’t be seen due to high fences. Would have preferred a longer, more varied walk. Views to the bay are nice.

Just a few photos of what I took on Millionaires walk. A surprising walk through paths past locked gates, some backyards without fencing. Looking over the cliff-from back yards onto the bay. All along curious to who might live or have lived in the homes. This was a self guide walk, not a guided one. It is said a guided one will tell you who had lived there and how much the property was worth. When you go around the block to the front, you get a bigger appreciation of the grandness and beauty of each property.

Great little walk. Some stunningviewsof PortPhillipBayfrom alongthe top of the cliff. It will feel like you are on private property in some places. The entrance at one end is a little hidden. Look for the pick up your dog poo sign on the gate to your left as you head towards the beach

My Husband and I went into Manyung Gallery whilst on holidays along the Mornington Peninsula ( Sorrento )a few days ago, we were both stunned at some of the exhibits, what an awesome presentation , The displays absolutely blew both of us away, and the young gentleman that explained some of the works was really helpful with our excited interest. My husband was absolutely blown away with the Ship exhibit, made from brick a brak. We highly recommend going there and it is really worth spending some time to see the creativity as well as the excellent Art Work

This art gallery is a must see!! Sharon went above and beyond for us!! Showed us absolutely everything and was very well invested and interested in finding out what we were looking for!! The world needs more people as kind as Sharon!

Extremely dissapointed. As an artist, you welcome those that help you and they will be rewarded. Unfortunately this particular industry does not. It feeds the business pockets and leaves the artist in dissatisfaction and In that loses there art piece without payment or any communication? This was before covid so there is no excuse for times ahead. As an artist , be aware. No go zone! Respect!

Portsea is a peaceful seaside town with beautiful beaches and clear waters. Great for swimming, boating, and relaxing by the pier. Lovely cafes and scenic walks make it a perfect coastal escape.

I loved my stroll around the jetty, looking around at the sand bags and rocks all in place to prevent anymore of the cliffs washing away, though I was a little unsure about the lack of rails along parts of the pier.. especially when a big wave came too close to me.. it intimated me enough not to go onto the pier for fear of ending up in the water as the wind was pretty strong too. Plenty of fishermen on the pier with the long rods.. A lovely spot to appreciate and respect the strength of tides and waves.

The good place for all level scuba divers. The water temperature is around 20 degrees and the water is pretty calm usually. The highlights are sea dragons ,stingrays and even the seals.

My visit to Portsea Pier was a delightful experience that offered a glimpse into the coastal charm of the area. As I strolled along the pier, I was surrounded by the sights and sounds of the bustling harbor. Fishing boats bobbed in the water, seagulls soared overhead, and the salty sea air filled my lungs. I enjoyed the panoramic views of the ocean and the distant horizon, feeling a sense of tranquility and connection with the natural beauty of the seaside.

A lovely place to walk and take in all the amazing views! We had so many breaks in between to just take in the sound of the ocean, the sea breeze and to click pictures to remember the kind of place we took a walk to! Highly recommended and once you reach the fort, don't forget to sit for a while and enjoy :) the other areas are locked out due to COVID but the walk was worth it!

The remains of a bunkered concrete fortress that was completed in 1911, taking advantage of the long-distance firing range of the coastal defence guns into the bass strait. Some great views from this outpost and plenty of information boards to account for this history at this site.

There's a lot to see and do here. There's a bit of walking involved to see the rest of the park unless you have a bicycle. All the fortifications and tunnels are very interesting and have information boards. Well worth a visit.

A great way to spend a half day exploring! The rugged landscape is amazing, and it's great to be able to crawl through the disused fort. The fact that the shuttle bus is $12 per adult is absolutely insane, so I'd pack some good walking shoes. A great spot to look out from is the Harold Holt Memorial site.

It was amazing. The trees just near the beach line are awesome, and the buildings are eerily so quiet and somewhat calm but scary. If you have someone with a disability, the toilet is fine. All in all it was a great place to visit again. 🤩

This beach is really connected to my heart. I love this beach ❤️ and people who visit this place have a great time for sure. Except for car parking, that is why i have always plan to visit the London bridge first then I come here before my ferry time. And drive from Queens cliff to all the way to home. This is one of the most beautiful spots for a picnic lunch. The weather is fab and the area is super vibrant. There are nice cafes and beautiful lanes around. A ferry ride from Queenscliff, picnic at the beach here and having quick bites at a cafe nearby would mean a perfect day!

Just one of those gorgeous "secret" beaches. I love coming here with a book/picnic (take your rubbish with you!!!). Due to the choppy water and cliff faces, you really can't hear any other beach goers, and it is a serene little sound bubble. There are loads of nice nature trails too - bonus.

Arrived about 1pm parked and walked down the ramp to beach. From the bottom of the ramp we walked until we reached the grotto. When you enter you can see the ocean through a couple of large openings on the ocean side. At low tide yo can walk around one side and stand where the two openings are. It's a great area for photographers 📸

Lovely to walk along the beach and climb in and around the 'cave' from the pinnacle at sunset time. Gorgeous!

The lookout isn't just one location, but several, plus a path overlooking the entire location. There is also a path down to the beach. The London Bridge is an enthralling sea stack that has a hole in the middle. It's a worthwhile subject for photography, but finding the "just right" composition isn't entirely straightforward. The beach is lovely and clean though the same is very fine and soft, so walking might be tiring for some. There are also several good walks around the location.

This is a beautiful beach. You will love it. You can take so many nice photos here. Great for kids, it was quiet when we were there. Also it's good for picnic, few spots you can have shade under the rocks. Strongly recommended, you shouldn't miss it.

This place is dedicated to the former Australian PM (Mr. Harold Holt) who was lost at sea when he went to swim - he had chaired the office for about two years before this unfortunate accident. It sits within Point Napean National Park, bit of a walk once you enter the premises. It has stunning views and is worth a visit.

Pretty cool place I suppose if it’s your time to go this the place to do it ‘ amazing open water beaches with huge waves ‘ the view from this memorial is simply stunning ‘ a great spot to stand and ponder why you would swim in the ocean here

Nice little nod to a former Prime Minister. Surrounding walking tracks are great. Heaps of good views

A small stone in memory of the Australian Politician Harold Holt. Some stunning sea views just beyond the stone from the lookout. This memorial is a short walk from the main path and is clearly signposted. There's a notice board providing some information on Harold and his disappearance.

Beautiful rock formation. Careful when you fo through the cave and do some research for tide before you go.

There where Australian Fur seal on this Beach when we went , you can access this via Monash Break track , It is Gated though so enter at ur own risk , the area Used to Be testing ground for War weapons , the beach is also cut off at high tide this is a part of the Fort Nepean Park

The rock formations are incredible. It's a pity that it is not very accessible.

The oval is very good for taking your dog for stroll. It is also very kid friendly with a secret area though the back forest

Played tennis on the two courts here, there is a sports oval with small pavilion & an off leash dog area. Nice little spot.

Great setup for dog walk, picnic or kids cricket! Also 2 hardcourt tennis courts.

Good off lead area, nice green oval, no prickles. Cricket is played on Saturday afternoon during the season.

Allison and Steve are wonderful patrons of art and provide super friendly service. I bought a beautiful painting and Allison and Steve delivered it and helped us hang it. I felt as though I have known them for years.

An incredibly inspiring atelier and gallery that has an extremely talented resident artist who paints in this space and displays her own work as well as holding regular exhibitions for other artists ....enjoy as we did !!
