The Thredbo Leisure Centre, located just a short walk from Thredbo Village Square, offers a variety of activities for families with young children. The modern facility features a heated 50-meter indoor pool, complete with a waterslide and inflatable obstacle course. Additionally, visitors can enjoy the sports hall, bouldering wall, recreational trampoline center, and other amenities such as basketball and squash courts. The center is known for its cleanliness and friendly staff who are always willing to assist guests.
Fantastic facility! Modern. Very nice 50 m indoor pool that seems to never be crowded. Very helpful and friendly staff. Had forgotten to pack my goggles and was lent a pair from the lost and found box. Much appreciated

26 Jan 25, every lane except 1 was reserved from 2:30pm until closing. I asked staff member 1 about this and how the only lap lane is filled with kids and they rudely said "this is just my job". Later asked staff #2 and they cleared out most of the kids from lane 1 (there's a whole different section for rec swimming). No warning on entry that every lane, except 1, was booked.

It's a bit disappointing to be charged $18 to hire pingpong paddles and 2 balls. If you want to use the facility it's quite expensive. Place is pretty run down.
Nicole D — Google review
Took my 2yo here- nice heated pool - chest deep (ie there is no play pool). However the change rooms weren’t heated which meant an absolutely freezing trip down there with a sodden 2yo. Like the temp was close to freezing and you’re standing there sodden wet with a toddler; apocalyptically cold! Reluctant to return bc of this.
Elisabeth P — Google review
Average. Average equipment, average clean. I hear the pool is nice and the kids love the slide.
Bill S — Google review
Indoor swimming for kids with water slide. Gym and rock climbing, basketball and squash to name a few
Livi — Google review
The worker (which gender is unknown) was clear drinking on the job and was verbally abusing me and my friends and kicked us out after we called him out for the mysterious substance in his hydro flask. They also need to upgrade there inflatable obstacle course as the one being used was almost as big as what I’m packing downstairs. Really horrible customer service.

2Alpine Coaster

If you're looking for an exhilarating adventure in the Southern Hemisphere, look no further than the Alpine Coaster! This year-round attraction stretches 1.5 kilometers and offers a thrilling ride through stunning alpine scenery. Riders can control their speed, reaching up to 40 km/h as they navigate a mix of uphill climbs and downhill descents, complete with tunnels, bridges, and exciting turns.
Riding the Alpine Coaster was great fun—my kid absolutely loved it! There’s no tobogganing area at this spot, but if you drive about 10 minutes uphill to Dead Horse Gap, you’ll find a beautiful location perfect for a toboggan ride. For easier access to rides, try to arrive a bit early—otherwise, you might end up waiting in long queues.
Amit P — Google review
Plan your runs first. They closes early on sharp. And its a lot of people queuing sometimes. The ride itself is totally not excited and overpriced. Children needs adults go with and adults need to pay the ride (even within the same tiny coaster) as well. Not suggest at all. By the way, the staffs operate are not very welcome during 2024 season.
Nick J — Google review
Place is easy to find. Lots of parking within walking distance. The prices are pretty expensive but honestly worth it. The ride is only open from 12pm to 4.30pm. The ride goes for a total of about 10 minutes. It goes up to 40km and has some good turns. Do not wear a hat or even a cap on this ride. I had a cap on my head and through my ponytail and it still came off. No loose items allowed unless you have pockets. You can ride with two people or just one. Staff are friendly and helpful. The ride itself has breaks so you can choose youre own speed and there is a reasonable gap between riders so you aren't rushed or slowed by other people. Would highly recommend.
Sue D — Google review
We loved the Alpine coaster ride it was awesome to enjoy at our own space but for the money we are spending it would give if the staff could help us to take photos of our memories enjoying the ride it's important for the guest as well as for your business. If the whole family is riding it's difficult to get pictures of ourselves. If the management could get some cam set up on the coaster to get a view of our rides or even a photo from the start point or end point would be great. But somehow we managed to get a couple of our rides.
Sabrina M — Google review
This is the best ride in Thredbo! While the ride pass could be a little more affordable, it’s a great experience for everyone—kids and adults alike. If it’s snowing, you’re in for the ultimate experience!
Md I — Google review
Love this ride so much 😍😍😍 it is better buy ticket online because much cheaper. We will go back definitely for another round.
Jubith M — Google review
I cannot thank the Alpine Coaster team at Thredbo enough for their outstanding service and kindness. During my ride, I accidentally lost my phone, and I was really worried I’d never get it back. To my surprise, the team immediately jumped into action to help me. Special thanks to Julia, who was incredibly supportive and reassuring throughout the whole process. Within just 20 minutes, the team managed to track down and return my phone safely — something I honestly thought would take hours, or might not even be possible. What impressed me most was not just their efficiency, but also their attitude. Everyone I spoke with was so friendly, patient, and genuinely willing to help. They turned what could have been a stressful and disappointing experience into a positive memory I’ll always remember. The Alpine Coaster itself is a fantastic attraction, but the team behind it is what truly makes the experience outstanding. I highly recommend both the ride and the amazing staff who go above and beyond for their guests.
Mirza B — Google review
Ride was good but didn't like staff "Lila" attitude towards us, very rude, didn't smile and kept yelling ''drop the break all the way down'' out of her throat, made the whole experience shit honestly, same with the courtesy bus driver i don't know her name but not sure what her problem was upon asking where the bus goes or about the routes, she seem very agitated, if you feel that bad answering customer's question, then, better stay home, Smile goes a long way and everyone go there for a holiday and can be their first time so, show us some warmth, we spend a-lot of time and money to be there,? never going to Thredbo again, Perisher next.

Mountain cable car
Merritts Gondola Top Station is a game changer for adventure seekers in Thredbo's alpine playground. This state-of-the-art, eight-person high-speed lift offers a quick and comfortable ride from the village to the base of the Cruiser Area in just six minutes. Whether you're into skiing, snowboarding, or simply enjoying scenic thrills, this gondola promises an unforgettable experience. The top station also features a nice cafe with warm alcoholic drinks and stunning views.
Game changer on the mountain. Super quick access from the village and Friday Flat to Merritts. All with more comfort than any other lift or snow transport
Bob B — Google review
Giving two stars— it’s like robbery, overpriced. Just a bar on top, nothing else, had to pay $75. It’s nit worth it unless you do skis or snowboarding. These are also overpriced, better go to Perisher
Md I — Google review
Great fun multiple travel one stop food shop only half way up for $75
Patrick W — Google review
Over price can only do once if what to do again have to pay again not must up the top just a bar unless snowboarding or ski not worth the money.
Annalease H — Google review
Due to weather we couldn’t go on this prepaid Gondola ride but the 1 star review is because they refused to give a refund even though they could not provide the service they sold us. Will be sending a complaint and leaving this negative feedback wherever I can as this policy is a rip off and ruined our entire holiday experience here. Unacceptable and very poor business practice.
Bradley W — Google review
Great place to stop on the slopes. Love the warm alcoholic drinks they have here on a cold day Good and drinks have always been expensive but that can be expected and it’s always busy here at peak times. You can get a pass to take the gondola up but warning on windy days they may not let you go up.
Nathan R — Google review
Ridiculously priced! $64 per person to go to the merrits mountain house and you can't really see much up there either. They obviously just focus on people that are spending more money skiing and snowboarding. What about the people who just want go to the top for the experience?
Ciaran J — Google review
A word of caution. Tickets purchased on line which is convenient. If you have your card, it will be loaded to go direct to the Gondola. If you don't have a card, you will need to pick it up from customer services office. We did this and were delayed. The result was the Gondola had closed and we lost our money on 4 tickets. We were turned down seeking a change of date. Certainly our fault however, there was no evidence of a desire to assist, rather a statement being, 'We are unaware of any Gondola disruptions today'. I suspect in tourist season, d3mand is likely to be high however tolerance was low. The Gondola closes at 3pm not 3.01 pm. You will loose your money if you are delayed. And loose our money we did without any desire of the vendor to assist, advise, accommodate even when the season was slow at that time, including the next day.

4Thredbo Golf Course

Golf course
Located in Thredbo Village, the Thredbo Golf Course offers a unique and challenging golfing experience. As Australia's highest course, it is surrounded by stunning snow gum forests and offers picturesque views of the Thredbo River from various points along the track. The well-maintained greens and fairways provide an excellent setting for a round of golf, with tee-off areas clearly marked. The course operates during warmer months and features dramatic holes set in a beautiful bushland landscape.
Nice 9 hole course in the Thredbo village. Known for being the highest altitude course in Australia, it is worth having a hit when in the area.
Russell G — Google review
A so-so experience. The course was far too wet and there was bird poop everywhere on most greens.
Thomas M — Google review
Interesting layout for a short nine hole course. Unfortunately, played on a day after rain the previous day so the greens were very wet. They don’t drain very well and was soggy underfoot. Be careful of fire ants too. They bite!
Ivan A — Google review
Course is excellent, additional parking would improve on the experience, as would the availability of golf karts, but the course itself is pristine
Tn S — Google review
Well maintained. Short course but interesting and challenging.
Martin B — Google review
A beautiful short 9 that embraces the high altitude terrain.
Ryan K — Google review
The Thredbo Golf Course is a fine example of a high elevation 9 hole golf course. The greens and fairways are well maintained, and are always very green. The tee-off areas are well sited and marked, with maps of the holes they are part of. Around the northern edge of the golf course are some ski lodges and ski-in ski-out chalets. The golf course operates in the warmer months, as it is buried under half a metre of snow in the winter. However, due to it not being used in winter, and being out of bounds to skiers, it makes an excellent place for a sneaky campsite, if one wanted to stay in Thredbo, perhaps climb the snowy Snowy Mountains, and not pay the high rates charged in the peak (winter) season in Thredbo.
Ché X — Google review
I have always been really impressed with the Thredbo golf course. Whilst short and frustratingly tight, all 9 holes have excellent golfing theatre and an incredible bushland setting. The highlight is clearly the stunning downhill 9th, while several par-3's are dramatic and require a good strike of the ball.

The Lounge Bar is the perfect place to unwind after a thrilling day on the slopes. With its cozy ambiance, inviting fireplace, and soothing music, it offers an ideal setting to enjoy handcrafted cocktails with friends. Whether you prefer the indoor comfort or the outdoor patio on pleasant evenings, this bar provides a relaxed atmosphere for guests to savor their favorite drinks.
Had a cocktail in lounge bar. So good! Loved the live music and the fire place. Staff is super friendly and very professional. Would come back all the time!
Wanda — Google review
Hotel prices but a cozy area to just chill with friends. If it's nice outside, enjoy the patio space.
Sean — Google review
Liked the relaxed atmosphere with the ski and snowboard guys around. Due to Covid lockdown in Sydney, Newcastle and other big cities (08/2021) probably less tourists than usual, very quiet and no après ski, happy hour or specials. $11 for a glass of bottled beer is too pricy, I feel.
Elly B — Google review
nice bar but horrible service from the Karen manager who questioned what we ate before we entered and refused to serve us drinks after knowing we were going to be there for 20 mins. In her words exactly “don’t bother getting drinks if you’re only going to be here for 20 mins”.

The on-site restaurant serves up delicious meals, making it easy to indulge without venturing far from your room. For those looking to unwind after a day of adventure in the stunning surroundings, the lodge features a sauna where you can relax and rejuvenate.
5 Stars – A Must-Visit in Thredbo! Candlelight Lodge Restaurant is an absolute gem in Thredbo! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warm, friendly service and a cozy alpine atmosphere that made us feel right at home. The views from the dining area are breathtaking, especially at sunset — the perfect backdrop for a relaxed evening. The food? Outstanding. Every dish was packed with flavor and beautifully presented. The schnitzel was crispy perfection, the steaks were cooked to order, and the desserts were the cherry on top — especially the chocolate fondant. You can really tell they use quality ingredients and take pride in every plate. We also appreciated the great wine selection and the thoughtful touches throughout the experience. It’s clear why this place has such a strong reputation. Whether you’re visiting for the snow or just passing through Thredbo, make sure to treat yourself to a meal here. We’ll definitely be back!
Louis B — Google review
Our stay at the Candlelight Lodge was excellent and we could not fault the place. The authentic dinner was a treat and the sauna was really good facility. The rooms were comfortable and very cosy. Staff were friendly and helpful and the lodge served a marvelous breakfast. Would came again and definitely recommend the Lodge to others.

Candlelight is true to historic alpine food, beverages and architecture. The owners provide a gorgeous selection of European beers and authentic foods like fondue. Everything is excellent. Cannot fault a thing. Every time I've been here (which is a lot) it's always been a great experience. Shout out to Jacques who performs live music on certain days. He's amazing. Highly recommend.
Roland — Google review
Myself and my partner came for dinner and so glad we did. From the drinks at the bar, to the entree and the shared wagyu main for dinner everything was absolutely delicious. The girls were super friendly and so lovely. Loved the atmosphere and the views. The interior of the hotel was traditional and even though its been renovated we loved how they have kept the olden day look.
Dani M — Google review
Very spacious room with comfy beds. Loved the decor. Wonderful staff - very relaxed. Local bus stops at the door making travel to/from skiing soooo easy. Best bar in town and restaurant food was amazing. Can't wait to go back.
Wendy A — Google review
Great place to stay, just a short walk (Up Hill) from the lifts. New renovated bathroom was a nice touch. Great view of the hill and breakfast included. The lack of a parking place is inconvenient but that's the deal at Thredbo. There is a bus stop right in front of the lodge.
Marvin M — Google review
Most authentic place to have dinner or a drink in Thredbo. Great atmosphere, really good service and the food is the best in the Mountains, have had some of our best family times having fondue together after a day on the slopes or after a hike in summer - perfect all year round. Zoe Young

We came here for dinner and it was absolutely exceptional!! We had the pretzel, cheese fondue and chocolate fondue. They kindly arranged for a vegetarian cheese fondue for us as we don’t eat meat and it was well worth it. The chocolate fondue was delicious! The service was very quick and the waitress was exceptional, very friendly and fun! The atmosphere is very cozy and authentically European. Highly recommend if in Thredbo for dinner!

Mexican restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Thredbo, The Mad Mexican is a vibrant restaurant that celebrates the rich flavors of authentic Mexican cuisine. This lively eatery offers an array of mouth-watering dishes, from zesty ceviche tostadas and crispy jalapeno croquettes to hearty burrito bowls and tantalizing tacos. Guests can also indulge in comforting Pozole Rojo, a slow-braised pork stew that warms the soul after a day on the slopes.
I loved the food, we had fish tacos then the beef Enchilada our family had the burrito bowl with pulled pork equally delicious so full marks for the food! Only improvement would be if our enchilada could have something on the side ie salad rice sour cream?? It's only minor point though. The freshly made churros & choc sauce was a hit too. This is a great spot for dinner in Thredbo and there was a live performer making it a great bar location also.
Cathy P — Google review
A bit pricey but it’s Thredbo so 🤷🏽‍♀️ burrito bowl and chicken tacos were surprisingly nice. Wasn’t the most authentic Mexican food but it’s pretty good. Wish they did blended margarita though 🥲
Amanda W — Google review
Went here for a quick early dinner, walked in and Sat, no staff at the door. After waiting for 20 minutes, I got up to go see if maybe u order at the bar, nope got told to go back to my table and she’ll take my order. Then as I’m mid giving her my order another woman came over and yelled in my face if I had a booking. Turns out they are ‘fully booked’ with no signage or table notes. If I’d be served promptly, maybe I’d have eaten my $35 enchilada before. I would’ve thought the owner would want to squeeze covers in. Not sit at 20-30% pax. No offer of take away, or this tables not here till ‘x’. The other restaurants nearby have great service.
Sam A — Google review
Its very average and overpriced. Nothing we ate was particularly tasty. Its also really expensive in comparison to higher end places but I guess they have no competition. Its edible but yeah nothing I would rush back for. Service was also just ok.
Daniela F — Google review
very mid and totally overpriced. guac and chips was a tiny serving of guac and cold Doritos… $15 for that. my “barbacoa” tacos were clearly microwaved and oozed water when i picked it up. flavour was bad, tortillas cold, overall a pretty low tier experience. severely overpriced too. staff were really nice and gave great service however weird british male staff member with long hair made strange comment to my partner. would not go back and don’t recommend anyone to check out. $25 FOR TWO TACOS SRSLY??
Vee T — Google review
Went in to order take away but was sent away and told they don’t do takeaway. Perhaps correct your website information if you aren’t. We popped in at 4 to be told food was only being served at 5.30 so waited until 5.30 to pop back in to order as we really wanted Mexican but told we couldn’t. Heads up to others to avoid disappointment.

A wonderful gem to visit in Thredbo. This is completely volunteer run and the lady looking after the place this weekend was super friendly and knowledgeable about the mountains. She went out of her way to answer my question and found me plenty of resources to look through. I thought I knew a bit about the mountains but I realise I hadn't ever heard about the 'worlds longest chairlift'! Highly recommend this place, check opening times on the website.

So glad we did this! These guys are amazing, love their horses and enjoy sharing it with people. The area and scenery were beautiful. I rode on Bones, who was a gentle brown brumby. The guides were so knowledgeable about the area and horses. Cannot recommend this enough.

What a wonderful experience! Booked this as a New Year’s Eve (day time) treat for the family. The guides were amazing with the kids and you can tell they genuinely love what they do and take amazing care of the Horses. Would highly recommend

Thanks TVHR! We were well looked after on a 2 hour ride up the mountain. Nev had a multitude of local knowledge pointing out landmarks and made sure we were safe and enjoying our ride. Nev and Freyja's love and care for the horses shone through and they were keen to share this with us. We rode Xena and Indy, both amazing steeds. We would love to come back to do the river ride one day.

Linda, Nev & Freir were outstanding, all their knowledge, support and kindness could not have been faulted. They have put in so much hard work to ensure the rides are safe, fun and super enjoyable. The horses had an amazing connection with their owners and you can see how well they are looked after. Elevate your adventure with a ride on the Kosciuszko Chairlift, an essential feature for anyone visiting Mt. Kosciuszko. This meticulously maintained chairlift provides a safe and smooth journey to Australia's highest peak, offering breathtaking views along the way. With recent upgrades including new snowmaking guns and fan guns, the chairlift ensures a comfortable ascent for visitors. While it offers convenience and stunning vistas, keep in mind that operations are weather-dependent.
The climb to the top of Australia is an amazing experience. The chairlift ride from Thredbo is pretty expensive, but a terrific experience in itself. If you like a small challenge and love wide open natural spaces, this hike is highly achievable and deeply fulfilling. Recommended for most as the pathway is ideal for walking. Lots of kids can make it too. There are slopes but nothing severe. Just gentle ramps on pretty even grades. Be careful though, it's only a short (12km) hike but the weather conditions up top are often dramatically different from the bottom of the Thredbo chair. I highly recommend you check this situation out as the result will have a significant difference to the enjoyment of your hike. I have a very proud 9 year old tonight!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We took the Kosciuszko Chairlift and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. The ride was smooth, relaxing, and the views were absolutely breathtaking — endless mountain ranges, crisp air, and picture-perfect scenery in every direction. It’s a must-do if you’re visiting the Snowy Mountains. The chairlift is well maintained, the staff are friendly and helpful, and it’s the best way to take in the beauty of the area without rushing. We’ll definitely do it again next time we’re here! — Gurinder Singh

What a great experience, had experienced snow on 23.12.2024, did Mount Kosciuszko summit walk, plenty of snow in Summer. Beautiful ride on the chair lift.
Vinod ( — Google review
Nice view and wonderful experience taking the chair lift. The minus 1 star is about the price. There is no return or one way ticket option! We must buy theday pass even we may want to take lift for 1-2 times only!! They should offer single trip ticket again which is more fair to the hikers that may want to do less trips. Also ensure you step on the T bar as it may lift up during the trip if you are not stepping on it.
Alison C — Google review
Relatively expensive if you're only doing one trip. Great views but it's quite a hike to the lookout once off the chairlift, it is all paved though. Great value if you're a mountain biker as the lift pass is for all day
Chris W — Google review
Super expensive, would honestly only reccomend if youre skiing, hiking or not planning to come back.
Sue D — Google review
Amazing amazing experience. We did the walk till Highest peak after the chair lift. You get all day pass and you can do chairlifts as many times, specially the bikers can take their bikes do their bike run and again take the chairlift with their bikes. Beautiful views and breathtaking nature... there is a restaurant up at the end of chairlift and there are toilets there too and also before you go up there are toilets and a take away cafe too.
Mitali V — Google review
Easy chairlift to get on and much slower entrance and exit than your typical ski run lift chair. Great views up the mountain both ways. Peaceful view of the trails.

K7 Adventures is an outdoor adventure company located in the NSW Snowy Mountains and Canberra, offering a wide range of mountain experiences. They provide guided mountain bike rides along the Thredbo Valley Track, with expert instruction and knowledge of the area. The team also leads snowshoeing trips up Kosciusko, complete with tea and biscuits at the peak, as well as patient and helpful guidance for cross-country skiing.
It was a wonderful experience doing the winter snow climb of Mt. Kosciuszko with K7 adventures. From understanding the trip to booking to meeting up and the climb was seamless. Lewis handled the logistics and Chess Smee was an amazing person. She guided me to the summit and though it was cold below freezing with lot of snow it was real fun. I would surely recommend K7 adventures for trips to the Snowy mountains in Australia.

My first back country experience and the Intro to back country tour was an absolute cracker. Lewis was great to deal with from the first enquiry I made about booking right through sorting out trip logistics and checking in after the tour. Steve was an amazing guide and the whole experience was exceptional. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to try out back country skiing or boarding for the first time, or any of their tours. 12/10. Thanks K7 team!

I highly recommend K7 Adventures Alpine Women’s Retreat. The weekend was really well organised. Lew, Leah and the team have a calm and flexible approach adjusting the program to accommodate weather conditions, skill level or any unexpected issues like my goggles breaking! I tried snowshoeing which I loved. Our guide Simmie was really knowledgeable and a great guide, and I loved having Carleigh supporting our group with her company and Cacao. I felt really well supported the whole weekend. The food was delicious and the yoga session an added bonus. I also met some really amazing women. I could not fault anything! One of the best experiences of my life 😁

K7 Adventures Alpine Women’s Retreat was an outstanding weekend! For my first time Alpine Touring I was supported, encouraged & inspired by our exceptional guides - Chess & Lewis, and their broader team of Leah, Divya, & Simie. These guys are incredibly knowledgeable & passionate about sharing their love of the Snowy Mountains. It was wonderful to meet other like-minded women & enjoy the evenings with beautiful meals, relaxing & restorative yoga, & great conversation Lewis & Leah are the most impressive leaders. Their friendly, supportive & encouraging approach really nurtured all of us, and they have created a remarkable retreat. K7 Adventures Alpine Retreats for Women is a must do for anyone wanting to explore the stunning Snowy Mountains!
Megan P — Google review
One day back in May I was casually scrolling my phone and K7‘s Alpine Women’s 3 day Retreat popped up, without hesitation I signed up, being drawn to the idea of yoga, sauna and a supportive trip skiing into the back country. Lately I have grown a bit tired of the chaos that exists skiing in the resorts and so backcountry skiing was something I’d been thinking about. The follow up information and communication was outstanding and included a fitness plan. The first day not even a blizzard could stop us as we headed to the protection of the trees, we got many tips on skiing in these conditions and terrain on the way up. Drinking cacao with a cool bunch of women beside giant rocks in wild weather after climbing up Dead Horse Gap was so so cool!. The ski down in the fluffiest snow I’ve ever been in, amongst the snow gums, getting tips and fun chats along the way by our expert guides Chess and Lew, including being helped up after sinking into the glorious fluffy snow and cheered on by these incredible people will just stick with me for a long time. The K7 ski guides Chess, Lew and content creator Divya communicated and checked in, made sure we were warm, and carried extra gear in case of need. Logistics queen Leah made sure everything else back at the lodge was perfect. The retreat catered to the group’s different interests and experience, offering snowshoeing, hardcore ski touring and for those like me who on a healing journey just wanted to ski and be. Thank you K7 crew it really was the most excellent adventure!
Mikki — Google review
A wonderful weekend of backcountry skiing with excellent guides. All the guides and crew were supportive, knowledgeable and friendly. They catered seamlessly and cheerfully for a range of skill and fitness levels, providing an excellent experience for all. The off-snow experience was top notch with timely and helpful communication, delicious & plentiful food, and an evening yoga session in the beautiful surrounds of Crackenback resort. It was not my first adventure with K7 and it certainly won’t be the last. Thanks team for a very enjoyable weekend.

Nestled in a cozy setting with dark woods and cabin-inspired decor, Thredbo Gin Lab is the perfect slope-side boozer. The bar offers a variety of gin flights and house-made infusions, with the raspberry infusion being highly recommended. The food menu features low-key options like pizzas, schnitzels, and delicious bar snacks. Situated above the river with a sunny terrace, it provides beautiful views and a lovely atmosphere for enjoying fabulous gin.
We stopped into Thredbo Gin Lab unexpectedly, not knowing it was here…. Really glad we did! Lovely atmosphere in summer with fabulous gin against the sound of running water from the river. The views are just lovely. Atmosphere was just spot on with great music playing at the outdoor tables as well We did the gin flight, that one is a recommend from me! Kids were we catered for with juice and chips. A strong recommend from me!

We had the nachos, Mexican parmie and a regular chicken parmie. A touch in the pricey side (Thredbo tax). Service was good, but the chips were undercooked and the nachos seemed to utilise that "pre-made guac in a tube" stuff... The guacamole did not seem to be freshly made, but we could be wrong. It was virtually the only thing open for dinner in Thredbo on new year's day 😅

Had such a great time at Thredbo Gin Lab! The live music created the perfect atmosphere — relaxed. The drinks were absolutely on point, especially the gin cocktails — super creative and beautifully balanced. The food was also a highlight: fresh, well-presented, and full of flavour. Great variety on the menu to suit different tastes. Overall, an awesome spot for a night out with friends

What a beautiful place, Nice and warm in the winter, excellent ambience with really friendly staff. This was a nice place to sit and have a glass of wine and enjoy some simple food. Sourdough bread unique and exceptionally tasty. This is an establishment focused towards, I did bring my daughter here, the staff were exceptionally accommodating, but their drinks menu was lacking in this area understandably.

Hiking area
The Kosciuszko Walk from Thredbo to Mount Kosciuszko is a popular and rewarding hike, offering stunning views and a sense of achievement upon reaching Australia's highest point. The trail is well-defined and accessible, with the option to take a chairlift partway up. While the last 800 meters can be challenging depending on weather conditions, the walk is manageable for those with moderate fitness levels. It's recommended to dress in layers and carry essential food and drinks.
The initial hike is the toughest as your get use to the walk (after the chairlift). The rest is a breeze as you can walk at your own pace and even have a bathroom break. The views along the walk is phenomenal and the flora around is unique. If it is a dry day, do not bother bringing a raincoat but brings multiple layers that can be easily taken off. Remind yourself to bring multiple layers of clothing in the first place as you cant create layers if u get cold but can remove the layers if it gets warm. On a sunny day it is highly recommended you wear sunscreen and reapply every 20 mins. The summit is worth it.
Lukas K — Google review
Amazing feeling and expedition to reach the highest peak of Australia. Even in December we had seen a patch of snow areas. Walk is good well defined. Scenic and few areas are challenging. We took a chairlift from Thredbo. If you are planning to take chairlift make sure that you plan your time wisely so won't miss the last chairlift down. My 8 year old son did the whole walk without any fuss. Get dressed in layers as it get cold and the same time you feel hot. Food and drinks are essential to carry. Take asthma pump if you need it. Have fun and enjoy.
Kavita M — Google review
Is sounds super challenging but really anyone with even a moderate fitness level can achieve this easily. Take the chair lift from Thredbo and then the walkway has only gentle inclines. Only at the end doesn't get a bit steeper, but by then you are committed. We took 4 hours, so allow 5 with a stop at the top. Suncream and wide hat is a must. It will be colder on the walk, and we had a windy day so colder still. The views you get from the top make it totally worth it.
Paul T — Google review
Nice easy walk to the top. Just do it! Vet family friendly.

Seen nothing but heaps of snow. The weather out there was so severe wind, snow and rain all together. We missed the track multiple times, achieved only Kosciuszko Lookout and returned back afterwards. However, it has been a nice adventure and lesson to not under estimate small Kosciuszko in June🏔 ❄️
Petr S — Google review

Hiked to the summit in the middle of summer. Absolutely amazing views in all directions. The track is on a raised surface for the majority of the hike with minimal steep sections, suitable for families with walking children etc. First time i've hiked to the summit and the weather has been clear. It is deceptively cold as you ascend, it was 30 degrees in Thredbo village but only about 12 degrees and windy at the summit, so pack for all weather. The chair lift to the start of the trail is expensive ($45 for an adult) however you can walk from Thredbo village. This will add around 8km and a 500m steep ascent to your return journey. I've hiked three times now in all weather, next challenge is a mid winter ascent and camp.

Rented a downhill bike from here and the guy with a beard in the shop was really quite rude. They gave me the bike with less than 10 percent sag on the front fork and when I asked for 20 percent, he made it seem like I didn't know what I was talking about. Rockshox recommend 25 to 30 and i already go a bit less because it is a bike park! I then asked him what tracks have jumps? He said well you rented a downhill bike, so you can't do any tracks - maybe Cannonball if you can handle it. Why is this grumpy guy working in retail? Other than this guy, the park is fun and the downhill bike works a treat with all the gravity tracks. Cannonball and Kosciuszko Flow were my favourite! Will bring my own bike next time.

I recently rented a downhill mountain bike from Thredbo Retail & Rental's mountain bikes, and I am excited to share my positive feedback. Right from the beginning, the staff showcased exceptional customer service. In addition to the supplied full-face helmet, Thredbo Retail & Rental offers a varied selection of biking accessories, including full-body armour, at an extra cost, ensuring you have all the necessary gear for a safe and enjoyable ride. In my overall experience with Thredbo Retail & Rental, I found it to be fantastic. Despite encountering a couple of instances where the chain came off, the issue was promptly addressed without causing any inconvenience. The combination of excellent customer service, high-quality bikes, and an efficient rental process made my mountain biking adventure in Thredbo truly memorable. I highly recommend Thredbo Retail & Rental to anyone considering renting a mountain bike instead of bringing their own. The quality of service and equipment provided truly enhances the overall biking experience.

Fair selection. Helpful staff when they aren't swamped by people buying lift tickets( this line takes way too LONG) 10%o off for premium Thredbo pass holders on full priced shop items over $20. More premium brand clothes here. Better selection at Friday flats shop( not premium brands though) Goggle selection best here . Lift tickets should be sold elsewhere as retail customers often go elsewhere.
Debra B — Google review
Unorganised place. Arrived 30mins before and thought that should be plenty of time with only 2 people lining up before me to get shoes but the staff member was more interested in getting a phone charger for his phone than serving customers and doing his job, also staff are more interested in chatting in the ski hire out section (3 staff guys) than actually fitting shoes where the queue is (mainly 1 person or sometimes 2 staff people fitting shoes). From this shoe fitting then no one in the snowboard section then no one in the clothing section we missed our planned snowboarding learning session Goto Perisher, been there before for Skiing and it's way better than Thredbo. Even better Goto Queenstown in NZ
Brett P — Google review
We were it able to get the tickets as been told “we are not wearing appropriate clothes as it is not waterproof”. Dispute the clothing was not waterproof it is warm enough to to survive harsh winter. Moreover, the other guys got tickets somehow wearing shorts. I guess it is just a way to send people buying some new “appropriate” clothes in the shop. We were very upset after driving 300 km from Sydney to here and not to get any tickets 😡 😡 😡

Purchased cycling clothing online, great experience with prices on par with the big overseas websites. Super fast delivery and speedy, hassle free exchange when I realised I ordered the wrong size initially. Definitely won't be my last purchase from Snowsport.

I bought two pairs of expensive pants from Snowsport on the basis that the refunds process was free and easy if I needed to return them. Their website clearly states that they offer free returns, including sales items. I have emailed the company three times, left voicemails and called with no response. They need to provide me with a return reply paid label so that I can send these pants back. I would absolutely avoid and never shop with them again.

So I saw the call on Insta for more reviews. Good way to get lots of positive ones. However as someone who has actually been in the store. Sure it's nice as long as you got deep pockets and a gold card. Lots of euro ski gear designed to impress your eastern suburbs neighbour or private school buddies. Don't make the mistake of heading in without looking the part. Your ability to pay quickly assessed. The factions they stock not bad. The attitude you have to suffer to purchase not worth it.
Manon B — Google review
Purchased expensive ski pants which came apart at the seam on first use. Retuned the very next day with tags and receipt. Store refused to do anything to rectify the situation. Wanted to blame me for the hole in the pants due to miss use. Shocking customer service leaving staff in the store with no decision making ability and being forced to argue with the owners over the telephone. Will never go back and was a customer for over 20 years. No credit, no refund no pants. Ruined my holiday.

Never again! I called the store on 10 Feb spoke to a lady assuring me stock for items I wanted was available. I was concerned about sizing. She assured me if sizing was not right they could be returned for a refund at the Reply Paid address. They were returned 15 Feb to Snowsport. I have tried endless phone calls, and emails to contact them regarding the refund. I have had absolutely no response at all!! I'm appalled!! BUYERS BEWARE.

BUYER BEWARE!!!! I purchased a pair a cycling shorts online. Size wasn't right so i arranged to return the items by express post in November 2019. Item was received by the company but I haven't heard anything from the company regarding a refund or store credit. I emailed several times and 2 months later still no response....... I am down a pair of shorts and $100. SHOCKING customer service and lazy returns policy!

Caution for buying online, purchase and shipping was quick, but size charts for POC on their site are out by about 4cm. The exchange process for returns is expensive. My polite request for included shipping on exchange item - having already had to pay for initial shipping and return shipping - did not receive a response in 3 days and its hard to judge motivations online. EDIT: Changed star review from 1, and removed complaint about shipping costs after Seb was in contact to sort out.

Mount Kosciuszko, standing at 2,228 meters in Kosciuszko National Park, is the highest mountain in Australia. The park offers various walks and hikes like the Rennix Trail and Thredbo to Mount Kosciuszko walk. It's located in New South Wales within the Snowy Mountains of the Australian Alps. The track to the summit takes about 6 hours round trip and requires good shoes due to snow near the peak.
We hiked to the summit of Mt. Kosciuszko (2,228 meters), Australia’s highest peak! Starting from Thredbo Village, the walk to the Eagle Nest chairlift station (1,927 meters) was pleasant, thanks to well-maintained paths and favourable weather—just light winds. Be mindful of downhill bike trails along the route. From the Eagle Nest, we continued about 6 kilometres to the summit, where it got windier and cooler, so a shell jacket is a must! After reaching the top, we returned to the Eagle Nest and then took the chairlift back down. If you choose to hike back to the village, the total distance is around 20 kilometres, so be ready for a full day! * You can not buy a descent ticket at the top, please buy a one day ticket at the bottom. The views from the summit were breathtaking, making the effort worthwhile. I highly recommend this hike for anyone wanting to experience the beauty of Australia’s highest peak!

The scenery was absolutely stunning! We did a partial snow hike, starting at 11:30 and reaching Eagle’s Nest Point by 3:30, catching the last chair lift back just before 3:45. It was an awesome hike and a great experience overall! If you’re planning to go snow hiking, make sure to wear proper clothing and snow shoes. We had all the gear, which made the hike much easier and more enjoyable — a well-packed and thoroughly fun adventure!

An incredible experience! I took the chairlift and spent about 2.5 hours walking from the Thredbo Chairlift Top Station to the summit of Mt Kosciuszko. The trail is mostly flat and easy, with amazing views along the way. You'll pass the highest restaurant and even the highest "dunny" in Australia—how cool is that? Reaching the highest point on the continent felt truly rewarding. Just make sure to plan your time well and check the chairlift timetable—we almost missed it, which would have added another 2 hours walking back down. Overall, a memorable and scenic adventure that’s worth every step!

Absolutely loved being able to walk to the highest mountain in Australia. Locals advised us to walk from Charlotte Pass. Easy to park as we arrived early morning. Toilet at car park. 18.6km return walk. Charlotte Pass is 1755m above sea level Mt Kosciuszko 2228m. The track is well maintained, sign posted and slowly takes you up to the mountain on a wide track. Beautiful flowers, scenery and the Snowy River on the way. We stopped at Seamans Hut for a bite to eat & a chat with two knowledgeable Rangers. Toilet near hut. Another toilet (the highest in Australia) is at Rawsons Pass, just before the last 1.7km to the top. This is the steepest part of the walk, but still ok. Amazing to reach the summit and to be on top off Australia. Cairn and information board there. Ensure you check the weather before going, be prepared with a coat incase conditions change. Wear sunscreen and good walking shoes. We saw all ages walking. The track became busier when we reached Rawson Pass with the people that had caught the chairlift.

Route to the peak: comfortable and light Overall, it’s a good comfortable walk on a prepared trail. Don’t take tracking poles with you if you don’t want to carry them in hands the whole way (on other routes they will be more in use). There are one stop with restrooms (btw the highest one in Australia:)) on the route. The restaurant (near the lift station) works until 3pm. They say it takes 4-6h, but it really depends on weather and your physical conditions. For example, we did round-trip in Summer less than 3h.

Ski & Snowboard Areas
Thredbo is a popular alpine resort that offers a wide range of activities throughout the year. In winter, it's known for skiing and snowboarding, while summer brings opportunities for mountain biking and hiking. The accommodation options in Thredbo cater to various budgets, making it accessible for families and individuals alike. The region is also recognized for reliable snowfall in the Snowy Mountains, particularly at higher altitudes like Thredbo.
The greatest staff i’ve ever experienced at a ski resort. The staff working the lifts were helping us with our skis, the alpine coaster staff were fun and exciting, seemed like they really enjoy their job. They were helping us to take photos of our family, and made us feel like valuable guests. on the food side of things, the local pub and bistro has a spectacular selection of beer and food (they even have pokies if you’re keen for a slap) and the views from the deck are marvelous. the avalanche Cafe is another great option if you are looking from anything from a meat pie or a coffee, to a caramel slice or some lollies. the staff there is also very great, in particular Nico. All in all, Thredbo is a great option for a weekend family trip.

The alpine coaster is the only attraction that feels somewhat worth the money. Unfortunately, tobogganing isn’t allowed, which would’ve been a great family activity. If you’re looking for a better experience, head to Perisher Valley instead — there’s more snow, and you can enjoy snowboarding, skiing, tobogganing, and quality time with the whole family.

It was still snowing when I visited in October, which made the trip even more special. The town has a local, homey feel with plenty of restaurants and a cosy pub, and the quieter atmosphere was perfect. Snowboarding was so much fun, and Riccardo, the instructor, was great and really easy to get along with. The free shuttle bus runs regularly to take you around town, and when we left late one evening, a driver kindly radioed another shuttle on our route to pick us up. The staff were super friendly and the service was excellent.

We stayed for 2 days We went up the mountain on the Suger gums chair lift. It was bitting cold due to the wind. Our accommodation was good. We had dinner in the pub. Everyone was helpful and friendly. Totally recommend a stay. It was very quiet when we were there as it was between winter and summer seasons.

Thredbo is a beautiful and magical place, especially after a heavy snowfall – it really feels like a winter wonderland! My son absolutely loved the Alpine Coaster, which was definitely a highlight of our trip. We tried to book three rides but unfortunately, it was all sold out, and there was only one ride option available – so make sure to book in advance. The ski area itself is pretty good. We wanted to book a ski lesson at Friday Flat and got there around 12:35 PM for a 1:00 PM session, but were turned away because they require at least 30 minutes of prep time before the lesson starts. Something to keep in mind – get there early! One thing to note is that Thredbo doesn’t have a lot of dedicated areas for snow play with kids. Most of the snow play is either by the roadside or scattered around the ski resort, and unfortunately, tobogganing isn’t allowed. On top of that, the Merritts Gondola was shut due to high winds during our visit. While the snow and scenery were absolutely incredible, the infrastructure just doesn’t seem to cope well during the peak school holiday season. Overall, a great experience but definitely one where planning ahead makes a big difference.

Worst experience I ever had in this resort. During peak season timings they expect us to be before 8am in mornings to have best possible coverage for 12-3pm pass session. If you really want us to be early, make sure to “REMOVE” passes saying 12pm-3pm on website, and also never release tickets and overbook.

Thredbo is a fantastic destination for a family getaway. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and full of life — whether you’re here for skiing in winter, hiking in summer, or simply enjoying the village charm. There’s something for everyone, from scenic chairlift rides to kid-friendly activities, great dining, and stunning views. The mix of fresh mountain air, friendly locals, and well-kept facilities makes it easy to relax and truly enjoy your time together. Highly recommended for families looking to make special memories.

Congratulations to the Thredbo team for the amazing service. A big thank you to the gondola staff who kindly helped me search for my snowboard today 31/08, and especially to Bratt, who came with his skis and managed to find/rescue it. Outstanding service and such a helpful team, you truly made my day!
