Tens of thousands of books are being sold here! Divided into categories, all books are easy to find. Can't walk aways from New book zone, interesting. Cards, games, and little things are at the back. The staff are nice and helpful.

I went to go see if the silmarillion was in stock, I tried finding it for so long I eventually went to the woman at the front desk she checked if the book was in stock but it wasn't so we talked for a little bit and she was nice she ordered the book for me I I'm looking forward to purchasing my book (also the quality was very high and they had alot of jrr tolkien book) so im pretty happy.

We have less book shops now a days, but like Bruce McKenzie's the standard is so high. Compliments to the book buyer

One of the best bookshops! The best in Palmerston North. Staff are wonderfully friendly and knowledgeable. They have an excellent range of books, many of which you're unlikely to find anywhere else.

A 'go to' place, especially to find specific books or related items I can't find elsewhere. They always offer to buy it in for me and even gift wrap it!

Good experience on all occasions visiting Babco. Go early to have a wide selection of the pastries and sandwiches on offer. The lines can sometimes look overwhelming but move relatively quickly. Cookie croissant is a must for chocolate lovers ! It's decadent and indulgent. Heads up that you can ask for pastries to be warmed up in store. Much more enjoyable for those that were meant to be served hot

Picked up some breakfast treats from here today. There was a line when I arrived but it moved quickly and once I ordered everything was ready within minutes. I ordered the Crookie (cookie croissant), berry custard croissant, farmers tart (ham, cheese and mash potato tart), a hot chocolate and a mocha. The pastries were delicious! Light, tasty, and not too sweet. The hot drinks were also very good. I also bought a lovely bunch of flowers for $35. I highly recommend Babco

If you're a fan of pretzels, this café should definitely be on your radar. With a great selection of flavors, I went for a trio: plain, chili cheese, and garlic cheese. Each one had its own unique appeal, but the chili cheese pretzel absolutely stole the show. The perfect balance of heat and savory flavor made it a standout, leaving me wanting more. The garlic cheese was a solid choice as well, offering that irresistible, cheesy garlic kick that’s tough to beat. The plain pretzel was perfectly classic, soft and warm, a simple but satisfying option. To top it all off, the staff were incredibly friendly, making the whole experience even better. Whether you're in for a quick snack or indulging in all three like I did, this café has the pretzel game down.

So good! Such a cute little place and has lots of options from coffee and milkshakes to toasties and pastries. Would recommend for everyone to try out!

Unfortunately the change in ownership is all too apparent. Cannot recommend the pastries at all. You would do better at the supermarket. You cannot make pastries without butter!!! Pain au chocolat HAS to have chocolate in it. Used to love this place. Dear owners Thank you for your response. We have eating pastries from BABCo for years. Never before have we had doughy, damp pastries. Not at all crisp, fluffy pastry. I assure you that I know what we have been buying for all these years. Today’s offering was not the same. Was it a bad batch? Whatever went wrong you will need to figure it out and correct it. Possibly your oven was not hot enough? I have now eaten some of the baguette, it too seems slightly doughy. Damp? It is ok, but not the high quality we been accustomed to. I could have kept quiet and simply never returned. In stead I am telling you about it in the hope that it can be corrected. I could see over the years the dedication and effort that went into creating BABCo . Today I feel sad. You can be assured that the pain au chocolat did not have the usual amount of chocolate in it. I know that it is difficult to produce good food in the current climate and make money. Personally I would rather pay more for excellent quality than buy food where the ingredients have been skimped or “dumbed down “. Best wishes Paul

Great place for lunch. We stopped here to get takeaway food. This is a popular place and busy. Lovely atmosphere, cosy decor, and friendly staff. Lots of pastry options to choose from. We had the cheese stick, ham and cheese croissant, ham and cheese toasted sandwich, vegetarian sandwich, and custard donut. The food was fantastic, not one disappointing thing. I loved my ham and cheese toasted sandwich. It was really filling and full of flavour. The BBQ/chilli sauce was a nice touch (albeit odd to have sauce with a toasted sandwich), it really enhanced the flavours of the sandwich. The custard donut was divine! I highly recommend this place whether you are dining in or taking away. It is definitely worth stopping here. My only fault on this place is the time it takes to get your toasted sandwich. If you are in a hurry and they are busy, perhaps don't get this.

Thank you guys for having us for my daughter Ibadat’s party. It was an incredible experience that brought joy to all the children. The spacious environment allowed nearly 30 kids and around 20 parents to gather and celebrate. Your support made it all possible.

This pool has wonderful service and the life guards are always on the look for kids who need help

I love Freyberg pool, the staff are always friendly, the aqua aerobics classes are fun and engaging, and I always have a good time there :)

I come to this pool alot with my best friend and we both LOVE jumping off the diving bored in the big pool, this is an amazing place to go swimming and its near my house so not far to walk aswell,

Awesome facilities for toddler+ and awesome opportunity to swim free with my little ones. I love the childrens pools or the smaller size, my daughter can touch the ground. Unlike the Lido where there toddler pool is too small and the bigger pool with the lazy river is a bit too deep, so Freyberg is our go to now! With the option of the in-between pool depths. Love it

Staff appeared reluctant to help locate products. It seems to be the way of the world no staff on the floor but 2 up at the tills to collect the money. Farmers a lot more helpful and friendly.

It had a lot of variety of toys. The staff-is very patient and friendly. You can sometimes find better priced deals elsewhere. But the variety is probably the best in Palmerston North. They don’t have a loyalty card system.

An Amazing toy store, some really great and knowledgeable staff and the range that they have is really great. Definitely hit the Toyworld here before you hit the Warehouse. Staff are 10/10 and I am a big fan of the range of prices that you can get Lego sets at (really good for when you want a little treat for you or a little person!)

Upon walking in, there were toys all over the floor the staff member was talking to a customer so I moved the Toy's out the way of the entrance. Other than that it was quite and store is well laid out. Better today clean tidy great lego displays

Plenty of toys and no line like Kmart so easy to get in and out if you need toys for pressies etc or don't feel like peopling, toy train for kids to play with while in-store and plenty of stuff on sale

Excellent customer service every time we've been. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and there to help with questions. Noticed they willingly help everyone no matter what age the customers are. Something that is often lacking in many apparel shops unfortunately. They had good stock in variety and sizes. Have been to a few Kathmandu stores and this one is definitely a favourite - thanks.

Went into the store in Palmerston North to buy a men's jacket in red. Black one 199.00 and the same in red 200.00 extra. I was a VIP Customer and have been since the store opened. Cannot believe the difference in price. The black one had red lining. Didn't buy it. Took my custom elsewhere and bought what I wanted. It cost me more but it was the principle. I will not be back to Kathmandu again. Have literally spent thousands over the years at Kathmandu

Absolutely gutted with the service at Cotton On Palmerston North. No service on the floor while three staff members chatted behind the counter. Non-existent service, and the manager—who was one of the three staff—drank her drink behind the counter with her hands in her pockets. Zero customer experience. It’s worth the trip to Wellington for better service. A simple hello or a meet and greet would have been nice.

Had a mean time shopping with my baby for her birthday in that kids area. Girl with that tatt helped my baby with her sizing and showed her what all the other girls were wearing these days. baby loved the attention and reckons she made a new friend 🤣🤣 mean service

I just cannot STAND how this store locks the front street automatic doors in both the kids and adult store at the same time. 4 staff in adult shop and zero in kids store. Not even an emergency open button (what if there is an emergency and still no staff in store?). I leave the adult counter and walk through kids store to get out and trapped. Not even a courtesy from counter staff to say “you can only exit from arcade way door”. Walk to adults men’s wear and trapped again. Security measure I know but…. Staff should be present. And able to release the door to let customers out.

Just got a pair of pants with fantastic discounted price. From 49.5 lowered to 15 isn't what I expected but it is REAL! When Cotton On says "discount", it really means "lower price"!

Appalling customer service. I came to buy my undies, after I paid, the staff put the undies in front of me and asked me to take it. She didn’t ask me if I would like to buy a bag or let me know whether I want to pack them up or not. I was shocked. How I supposed to hold the undies on hand and walk on the street????? She didn’t even greetings to me at all. It was fine if she could say THANK YOU after that. But nope. After I paid, I left the store and came back within 5 mins to return the undies. I can’t stand with this horrible customer service. Well, when I came back, the same staff was checking out for another customer. She asked the customer if they wanna pack up and greetings them. I was shocked again. I am your customer TOO. Why didn’t I deserve your greetings and care???? It’s the first time in my life being treated like this. I know business is struggling at the moment but please pay attention to your staff and select the right one that can be valuable for the business. I would never spend money here again if the staff still kept this attitude. Cheers

Five stars for the products but definitely less then 2 stars for Palmerston north cotton on downtown store,poor customer service. First of all one of the staff overcharged me and when I went to the cash counter to confirm the price and get the refund, the staff member gave priority to a phone call rather then listening to me and resolving my issue, which was very rude and I feel neglected. next time I would prefer to shop online rather then visit the store.

The jewellers at Cameron jewellery crafted me the most special, bespoke ring. They used stones from a ring left to me by my nana and made a modern more wearable ring exactly like I had imagined. I couldn’t be happier with the service, price and overall experience at Cameron’s and will definitely be back to create more with them in the future

My friend and I have been visiting Palmerton for a work trip while here we enjoyed many areas of the town full of good food and people. We searched most of the city, including the square and side streets for one full day unable to find a specific jewelry set. On our last attempt we came across Cameron‘s Jewellery. This was for my purchase in January 2023. I appreciate the last minute help on getting this done for the bride. It was for my sister in law to be. It was just as pictured and what she wanted. So thank you for doing that for us. Fitted in with the vision and decor. All of that sadly was overshadowed by a comment that I don’t think you thought about at the time. You asked why they didn’t go back to India to get married, to which I said we don’t come from India and that we were born or either raised here from an infant age. To which the reply should have been sorry for assuming but the lady had a smug smile. Racism and a lack of thought on the comment is what left me feeling insulted. While I appreciated the service you had given and the last minute favour but I didn’t think that was appropriate at all to be met with a comment like that. Yup it’s 2025 and I should have said this earlier but better late than never. Hope no one else gets treated like this ever.

My friends and I were in this bp, casually looking for drinks and snacks for the school day, none of us were being disruptive. As I went to check out my friends were standing back as to not look like they were line, one male adult worker yelled at them and told them if they were not buying anything they could not be in the store, there was only 2 other people in the store other than us. Absolutely terrible customer service yelling at a group of teenage girls who just wanted to go and get some drinks for school.

I went to the BP this morning, My friends and I were there to get a drink before class. We were browsing, not being disruptive as we try to respect the workers and other customers, as we are regularly there and have never had issues before. As my friends were getting their things to purchase, we were yelled at for no apparent reason by a male worker to leave if we weren't going to purchase anything, despite the fact we had goods in our hands. We left without our things. Terrible service.

I wish I could leave no star. Ordered coffee at 7.29am, pick up time was 7.39am, it's 7.52am, no sign of coffee. Staff was busy in talking with other staff. I was at the point where I was about to leave without coffee. Store was opened with food hot food cabinet empty. Really poor service

Just wanted fuel, had to wait to pay for it in a long line of folk wanting coffee's...if you want to have a cafe all good, but then get staff to man the bloody thing, have someone on the other till to assist all of us that just want to pay for the gas and go...certainly not a 'service station' a glorified coffee cart with gas pumps!

Paid $3 for a single scoop ice cream that was smaller than a kiddie cone. Not even kidding, it was actually disgusting. There was basically no actual ice cream on the cone. Should to be amazing here but certainly not anymore. Would hate to think what a kiddie size is, probably not even a mouthful. If you're going to increase your prices, you shouldn't be also decreasing what you get. The lady serving us was also as rude as they come. So sour. Probably shouldn't be working in customer service if can't even speak or show a smile. Everytime I've gone into this store the staff look so depressed and barely look at you. Won't be coming back here.

I’ve been coming in on sundays for a while now (over a year) due to sports and work, I’ve noticed the staff have changed, there use to be a tall grumpy guy and he would often say he hated working sundays There are now 2 nice ladies always on first thing in the morning and then usually 2 more staff when come back after sports. And would just like to say the team work in the morning is amazing. If one’s needs to do something I heard the older one with glasses often ask if they need help or make sure they are ok. Same goes with later in the day this one lady (who I usually see during the week also), she’s always checking in on staff and make sure they are ok or need help It is great to see the staff seem happy on sundays now and the team work going on since she’s been working. She will ask if people want a break if they are on the coffee machine for to long I’ve noticed staff are always doing something on sundays and this lady is always busy Just goes to show team work goes a long way

Absolutely amazing team to work with, the crew new their stuff and we're absolutely honest and straight forward about what they could offer in terms of branding and who sold the brand I was initially chasing. Friendly, positive, and genuine men!

I’ve been a regular customer of Vapo through their online store with no issues, but after visiting one of their physical locations, I won’t be returning. I walked in looking for a specific vape (the IGet pod) and politely asked the staff member at the counter (a dirty blonde lady) if they had it. She said no, and then immediately asked for ID from both me and my partner. I responded, “Oh don’t worry about it, we’re just about to leave then,” since they didn’t stock what I came for. Instead of just letting us leave, she snapped back with, “There’s no need to be rude about it, it’s an R18 store after all.” At that point, I reminded her I was already leaving because they didn’t have what I wanted — so why demand ID from customers who are literally walking out? It was completely unnecessary and left me feeling judged and unwelcome. After that kind of attitude, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere — online or in person. Edit after Owners reply: Thanks for your reply. I completely understand the legal requirement to check ID in R18 stores. That’s not what this is about. What I don’t understand is the need to ID someone as they’re leaving the store. I wasn’t trying to browse or make a purchase anymore, I was on my way out. The part that really bothered me was being told I was being “rude” simply for saying “don’t worry about it, we’re about to leave.” That was uncalled for, and the entire interaction came off as unnecessarily hostile for no reason. A bit of professionalism and basic courtesy would’ve made all the difference. :)

All staff regularly request ID (as per policy and law) they are generally very helpful with product information and are super friendly. Wouldn't buy my vapes anywhere else. 👍

Kulinarya is one of two Filipino food stalls in Downtown. Having tried the other, my partner and I were keen to sample what Kulinarya had to offer, as we had high expectations following the other. We can safely say that those expectations were met, and that Kulinarya is very much its own unique entity. The first item we ordered was the crispy pork sisig. We had high hopes for the sisig, and it did not disappoint. As the name would suggest, there were many crispy pieces of pork throughout the well seasoned dish, and the mayonnaise on top accentuated the salty, umami and slightly sour flavours nicely. Our second item was the beef kare kare. This came as a bowl of incredibly tender beef lying in a rich peanut sauce with some greens. This was accompanied by a saucer of sauce, though I could not confidently tell you what was in this. While this dish was most exciting to begin with, the level of richness and grease got a bit overpowering by the end. Both dishes came with a serving of rice and a small bowl of broth, flavoured richly with beef and garlic. Without a doubt, Kulinarya is definitely a place to visit if you have any desire to eat Filipino food in Palmerston North.

I purchased a meal today at 12:33pm and it is now 1pm with no meal in sight. I returned to the counter twice to ask how long and the second time, they were cleaning and not cooking. It would seem my ticket went missing or maybe they hope your lunch break is over by the time you get your meal? Another patron had also been waiting half an hour and he also had to ask when he would get his meal. Not impressed at all. I have eaten here before and it was great, so I am very disappointed in the service I received today.

If you’re craving authentic Chicken Inasal, Kulinarya in Palmy is worth checking out. The food is flavorful and satisfying, offering great value for money especially for Filipino comfort dishes. However, be prepared for “waiting” time , so bring a little extra patience. The ambiance is just okay, as it’s located in a food court, which means it can get noisy and crowded during peak hours. Still, the quality of the food makes up for it, especially if you’re missing home-style Filipino cooking. Overall, it’s a solid spot for a quick Pinoy fix—just don’t expect a quiet dining experience.

Food is good! Authentic! Me and my partner waited 1hr for our food to arrive and only for 1 plate to arrive. It would be okay for us to wait but can SOMEONE inform us that there will be 30-45 minute wait?? This has happened too many times. I ended up buying curry on the other foodstall I was starving.

The food here is delicious and I cannot wait to dine here again. My hubby tried Filipino food for the first time and he loves it too! Will definitely be back again!! 🥰

Had a really good experience eating at Kulinarya. Servings were big, customer service was also friendly, prices are reasonable. The kids were too excited to eat the chicken bbq i hadn't taken a decent pic of it. Hopefully next time they would offer combo meals with drinks. The batchoy was a little bit on the salty side and comes with raw egg topping that you mix in, the noodle soup gets creamier. Get in on the crispy chicken skin bcs it gets sold out fast! It's soooo good! We took some of our leftover home and it was still crispy the next day. So happy there's an accessible and affordable filipino cuisine.

Had the crispy chicken burger which had the yummiest maple mustard dressing and my partner got the beef burger and it was so yum!. We will defs be back again

Purchased three to four times in this store, staffs basically didn't answer any of my questions except first time, I thought maybe because my questions were hard to answer until I saw other customers' questions here, which are the same. Never go again and won't recommend to any friends.

I went in today to purchase a Cloud Nine, and the lady that helped me was very informative and thorough. She explained how it works, what setting would be best for my hair and went through the box to ensure everything was there. It's rare to find good customer service where staff go the extra mile, instead of just grabbing the product and charging you.

From French country designs to informal/ formal living styles, there is something for everyone. Selling High quality crafted NZ timber and products ,they will assist you to make sure you are satisfied with your choice If they don’t have what you are looking for they will search for it.

Came into the store to buy some new t.c clothing and walked out with nothing. Why because the staff didn't even acknowledge i was in the shop, they were too busy sitting in the dressing room area talking about people rudely they know with someone else. I would rather drive to wellington to shop then come back here.

I took offense to a staff member this morning. Sorry but I didn't appreciate your comment about the garment I was holding, and by the way I was intending to purchase. Yes it had a flaw, but did you really think I was going to buy that one. ..no, we asked for another but your loud comment in front of customers actually put me right off. We left very offended and you lost a sale.

Worst retail experience I have had in Palmerston North. Walked around with my girlfriend for 15 minutes without even a single "Hello" from the staff. Came in on our day off, to look at Stolen Girlfriends Club (Which I was already wearing myself) and received 0 acknowledgement from the staff. Another lady came in after us to which she received a VERY warm welcome... waste of time, glad there's another Stolen Girlfriends Club retailer in town. If you would like to have a much more pleasant retail experience, go see Goldsack & Co who will happily welcome you into their store and satisfy your SGC wants and needs.

I purchased a dress from you and the dress is faulty. One sleeve has no elastic and it is unwearable. I’m disappointed it was sent when it was obviously faulty. Not impressed with service.

Massive range of clothing - some on sale racks very well priced. I went in specifically for some 3/4pants, and was hoping for some help - walked around for over 5 mins and no one came to help, unfortunately I walked out without being helped or getting my pants... Not sure if I will go back.

Really disappointed, went in to buy Deadly Ponies since they are the only stockists in Palmy. Was standing next to staff and was not even acknowledged. Will be buying online instead and I will not be going back to this store

Very country old world atmosphere. I arrived at opening 10am and ordered trim flat white coffee and double checked this, I cannot digest full milk and get very sick. Within 15 minutes of having the coffee I was sick. Not impressed at all. From full milk I get nausea, sweats, and feel like passing out. Lucky the person I came with could take me home. We did order a meal each which was small in serving size but ok.

Beautiful shop with an amazing selection of clothing, shoes and accessories. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in town. I came away with some great pieces at great prices. Overall 5/5

Good cheap veg. Always get my eggs from here. A loaf of rewana, lamb buns, prawn spring rolls and the fillipino stall always has yummy food.

Good Saturday market in Palmerston North. Fresh and cheap vegetables. You can enjoy some delicious breakfast as well. The fruits are not in a good keeping quality here so better not to try.

Saturday market always has the Fresh harvest of Vegetables and Green groceries. Memorable interactions with the farmers.

Good variety of vegetables. They also have stall with good coffee and fried bread with pesto. I'll keep coming back for the veggies I need.

That's the best part of shopping wen it comes to fresh organic vegetables. The farmers get their fresh produce vegetables and fruits to the market and sell it. I got fresh coriander, capsicum, onion bag of 10kg and lot more.. There are other stalls which sell some sweets, accessories, honey, walnut and others. U get the best price fresh produce. The stall owners are very friendly and polite.
