Nestled in the picturesque Welsh Valleys, Rock UK Summit Centre is a premier destination for adventure seekers. With over 23 instructed activities available, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
We recently booked rock UK for an hour’s climbing party for our daughters ninth birthday and we couldn’t be more impressed! She took eight friends to climb with her but they were more than happy to accommodate at ninth child who wasn’t climbing but wanted to watch. In the end she did climb! Extremely friendly welcome , exactly the right level of fun but safe teaching encouraging teamwork and learning. Feel like we’ve found an absolute gem. The girl’s instructor, Kirsty, was an excellent tutor and really good with the girls who were very excited and keen to get climbing! I couldn’t recommend rock UK highly enough for a birthday party and we really glad to have found it for future activities. My daughter had an excellent time, we will be back! Thank you!

We come here weekly to visit the cafe for a coffee, hot drinks are always good here. The cafe is dog friendly, there is one unisex toilet and a disabled toilet. There’s outside seating with a children’s play area and also a small soft play area inside. There’s a good selection of snacks, sweet treats, ice cream and soft drinks on offer with some vegan options. Food prices are on the higher side, there’s usually a long wait for hot food items. Important to note that the cafe takes bank card only.

Today I visited the centre, it's been over 20 years since my last visit. I am pleased to say i was very impressed with what i saw. Lots of climbs, massive walls and reasonable entrance prices. Cafe looks to offer a great selection of cakes. I certainly plan a return visit.

Our very first experience of rock climbing and we had an absolute amazing time, me and my 8 year old son had no previous experience my son was given an introduction which he loved! Our friend who is a qualified climber/instructor met us there and stayed with us both until we left 4hours later we will definitely be back! We had so much fun highly recommended

Just had a wonderful afternoon taster caving with our fantastic instructor, Chris. He was friendly and reassuring and great with the kids (cautious 9yo and unpredictable 5yo). Despite their early concerns, both kids ended up completing all the challenges happily and were really chuffed with their achievements. As an artificial cave (and therefore not too deep underground), it was a great opportunity for them to try it out without the daunting-ness of rivers/a big cave mouth/deep underground/slippery walls. I would highly recommend it for anyone trying it out for the first time! What was also great was that there were multiple routes connected - so when my husband and I, who are a wee bit more on the curvaceous side couldn't get past a tight part, we could scoot through a different route while the kids sat safely in the destination chamber and waited for us. Altogether a fabulous afternoon, and exceptional value for money with the "come back this Easter 1/2 price offer."

Good climbing walls. Mixture of top ropes and lead available. A small selection of auto belays, and a small bouldering area. Really excellent staff, all very friendly and helpful. I really enjoy climbing here and happily recommend this centre.
Elizabeth E — Google review
The centre is well equipped, with a range of climbing walls including large overhangs which are very enjoyable to climb. The staff are very helpful - at a recent event they let me borrow a 4x4 mobility vehicle after I hurt my leg, allowing me to continue to enjoy the event. Big thumbs up!
Chris M — Google review
What kind of new opening hours are these, the average person works Monday to Friday 9 - 5pm, their travel home may take 1 hour give or take for traffic, by the time they have Dinner, grab kit, & kids and drive over to the centre, that would at most leave them just if they're lucky 2 hours to climb, and that's only week days, most people only have chance to climb on weekends, Saturday your only open now until 5pm , Sunday plus Monday your closed 😲😯 Sataurday is normally rammed with ques behind people to have a go of the route because that's the only day most can get there.. You state this in your mission statement - We're passionate about getting people climbing and enjoying outdoor activities. Your not helping with those ridiculous opening hours,. Think they need reassessment seriously, they are stunting alot of people learning or experiencing new skills..

BikePark Wales, located near Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales, is a thrilling destination for downhill mountain biking enthusiasts. The park offers 40 trails of varying difficulty levels, catering to beginners and seasoned pros alike. With courses graded from green to black, riders can easily find the perfect trail for their skill level. This EU-backed facility opened in 2013 after an investment of 1.8 million pounds and has since become the top mountain biking spot in the UK.
The forest here is a beautiful place to ride, I like to take a minute sometimes mid run to catch my breath and appreciate the peace and quiet in the woods.. I feel very lucky to have seen the bike park grow and develop over the last 3-4 years of me visiting, so a big thanks to the founders for taking that first leap when deciding to open the bike park. The team here are amazing, so much love and attention goes into the daily running of the bike park and woodlands, the mechanics, front of house, uplift crew, trail crew all busy work aways, smiling and take a min to help, advise and tackling daily challenges head on.. Great vibes, great times, love the new A470 as I can finally enjoy T2B laps. Happy days see you soon..

Can't rate this place highly enough. Great facilities.staff are friendly and the whole atmosphere of the place is great. Trails are well looked after and the uplift crews are always helpful. The cafe had a good variety of food and drinks for everyone. The bike repair shop could not have been any more helpful and service was fast and quality. Many thanks .

Excellent place. Best day on a bike I've had. Rode most of the blue and red trails and a couple of blacks. We did something like 22mi of descending in 1 day! Nowhere except a bike can you do that! Really good place to go and would highly recommend to anyone of any ability who likes mountain biking. Has a big reputation to live up to and it certainly does.

My partner and I had an incredible two days at Bike Park Wales last week and can't wait to come back when we next can. Day 1 we got through all of the "flow" Blue Trails and had a blast. We rode up the Beast of Burden and did the "Steep EBike Climb". Day 2 we thought long and hard about our Day 1 life choices as our thighs were SCREAMING! However, we had a few hours of private tuition session with Head Coach Griff Morgan. The "uplift" was included for the day in the tuition package and we IMPLORE YOU FOR THE LOVE OF WHOEVER YOU PRAY TO ***BUY THE UPLIFT TICKET***!!!!!! You are welcome. Our session with Griff was fantastic. We both have different strengths and weaknesses and ability in terms of biking and we could have done with separate lessons. However, Griff did an outstanding job of tailoring his tuition and knowledge so that we both got the most out of our time with him. He's also a thoroughly lovely chap to spend time with and was very professional when I sent myself A over T in slow motion by testing my brakes a bit too enthusiastically... During our 2 day visit we sampled the food and drink on offer. I can genuinely say the coffee is excellent. We also enjoyed a Breakfast Bap, a vegetarian breakfast wrap, a Chilli Con Carne Jacket Potato, the BPW Burger, the hot dog with the pulled pork on and a Pepperoni pizza and a meaty pizza as well as some of the bottled and draft Popty Ping Lager. Everything was delicious and generous in portion size. We also made use of the free e-bike chargers - thanks BPW!! All of the staff we met and spoke to were a credit to BPW. All friendly and helpful and engaged in their work which was lovely to see. Looking forward to when we can next drive up from Essex to stay so we can visit BPW again.

Great trails bit of a queue checking in but no queues for the uplift got 9 laps in definitely worth the £50. Definitely would recommend to any level of rider. Had a crash but all good other than my phone and helmet.

A Brilliant Introduction to Mountain Biking – Huge Thanks to Colin! I’ve just completed the beginner course at Bike Park Wales for the second time, and once again, it was absolutely brilliant. We originally completed the course 3or 4 years ago and we’ve been eagerly awaiting my friend’s daughter’s birthday so she could finally join the experience – you need to be over 10 to participate. She is a particularly confident person so was ok at this age. The course itself is a fantastic introduction to mountain biking, including full bike and equipment hire, a guided tour, and two exhilarating runs down the green trail ‘Kermit’. At around 5km, Kermit is well designed – flowing, fun, and confidence-building with features like banked corners, gentle rollers, and small descents that give a taste of everything the sport has to offer. The whole operation at Bike Park Wales is professional. Reception staff were friendly and helpful, parking was simple, and all the equipment provided was clean and well-maintained. I had a Trek Roscoe Hardtail for the day – a solid bike that was perfect for the course. A special shout-out goes to our guide, Colin, who made the day. This was actually the second time I’ve had Colin as a guide – the first being three years ago – and I was so pleased to see he’s still as brilliant as ever. He’s incredibly patient, encouraging, and attentive to everyone’s needs, no matter their confidence level or ability. He was especially great with my friend’s daughter, helping her settle in and build her confidence from the start. Colin is a true ambassador for Bike Park Wales and for mountain biking in general. The atmosphere across the park is warm and welcoming. I come from a skiing background, and the vibe at base camp really reminded me of that – friendly, inclusive, and buzzing with energy. It’s a place that could seem intimidating from the outside, but the team make it accessible to everyone, and you quickly feel at home. Personally, I’ve been working my way back to health after a difficult period, and this experience really boosted my confidence. Mountain biking is definitely a physical sport and does require a basic level of fitness, but the uplift service makes it manageable, even for those not at peak fitness. All in all, it was a brilliant day, great value for money, and an ideal way to get into the sport, whether you’re a complete beginner or just looking to get back into riding.

Ok, first the good points! Very good set-up, great visitor area, uplift queues werent bad at all considering there were 500ish riders... I think they said they had 15 vehicles running, so very quick, tracks were many and varied! Bad points, 3! Now these are my own little gripes that you may feel are stupid and not bother you at all! 1st, not massively steep, but I still had plenty of fun 2nd, more bike wash stations, and make them free! We've already paid you 56 quid, surely you can give us a 50p wash included via a token system or something when you sign in! 3rd, parking... now this is a little controversial, because if you get there early, parking may not be an issue... we arrived around 9am and almost had to park on the roundabout where the entrance is, actually, there were 2 cars on the verge when we left. The road in and out is also a single track fire road basically but with the added feature of parked vehicles from top to bottom... you'll see if you go!!!! Overall good days riding, just those little niggles for me!

Had a great time at Bikepark Wales. From the start check in was super easy, and the uplift was easy and efficient, the maximum time we were waiting for it was about 4 minutes is great compared to other bike trail centres. Trails built really well, warmed up on blues, mostly rode red and 2 black trails and gave The Martian a go (but it was probably out my skill level). The trails are built super well and drain really well. It rained the day before and light rain for about an hour and trails were in super good condition. Although the board by the uplift said trails in good condition there were some people going around saying the be super careful as trails were slippery even though they werent which i thought was a bit weird. Online booking was bit difficult too. If you want to max out your time on the trails, bring a packed lunch and skip the cafe as it us super busy. Very good time!

Cyfarthfa Castle Museum and Art Gallery is a historic 1824 castle in Merthyr Tydfil, United Kingdom. It was once the home of the Crawshay family and now houses a museum with an impressive collection of artifacts spanning 2000 years of Merthyr's history. The museum features fine art and social history items, making it a must-visit for those interested in the area's heritage.
Great place to visit. Came here yesterday. The castle is placed on a hill, with views over looking the park and lake that is just below the castle, as well as a great view of Mythyr Tydfil. The castle experience itself isnt the biggest we've seen, but at the time of writing it was £3.50 each person adult ticket so that was fair enough. The information they provide as well as details in the rooms is a great sight to behold. They detail such events, such as locomotives, mines, the start some appliances, etc. The experience follows a one way experience, and before you go down to the museum, there is a cafe. There's also acitivies to do there, some leaflets were being handed out to families that had kids. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a nice explore with a lovely view.

Interesting day out. Museum is well done but stairs are steep. Surprising artefacts such as Egyptian treasures. All staff were lovely and helpful. Ate at cafe and took a ride on miniature train. Large lake to walk around too. Parking free. Train £2 each. Museum £3.50 each.

After looking for somewhere to go to escape the rain, l came across this amazing castle. Within the castle l found a really interesting museum telling the story of the owner of the castle, his business and its work force. I also found within the castle an art gallery with some amazing modern and classical art pieces. The entrance fee to the castle was really reasonable at only £3.50. Overall l would highly recommend coming here.

We chose this amazing venue for our wedding day and it didn't disappoint. Even if it's raining you will have amazing photos as the whole museum is open to use if your booked in. From the moment we booked and throughout the wedding the staff were absolutely amazing and couldn't do enough to help. So glad we chose to get married there. Thank you so much for making our day so special and being so helpful.

Merthyr Tydfil once led the world in iron production today, it tells its story at Cyfarthfa Castle. We explored its industrial legacy, the Crawshay family home, and a fascinating collection of art & antiquities. One of the most scenic drives in Wales; history meets beauty

We came to see Tom Jenkins and the people the poet on Saturday 20th August 2022. Great venue, beautiful building inside and out. Staff very helpful and friendly. In fact a gentleman at the door gave us directions to the room. See respite not being visually disabled the gentleman noticed me trying to get up the stairs and pointed out a lift. He followed me up and got me a seat. At the end of the evening he showed me to the lift and asked if I was ok going down on my own, because my husband and son had used the stairs. Very helpful and polite.

Arrived to swim in lanes with my daughter, was asked to leave because a group booked out the pool. The was no mention online and they took the child swim money. I'm also a member and understand that they have the right to swim aswell and I hope they enjoy. However she has always loved swimming and having autism she don't rely like to be approached and they asked us to leave. Not happy since halo have taken over 😕

Thank you Joe

Good gym, good staff, good price, good cafe with healthy options and good prices also, chatted to Lauren who explained my situation of I'll no longer be charged but I'll still have my benefits until the end of a spefic date, this made me go that day and now I'm considering redoing my membership. Good staff!

Poorly run and managed. Bought a d paid for 2 adult and one child swim only to find the pool was closing in 2mins, the girl at the counter didn't know how to do a refund so she called for the duty manager who didn't know how to do a refund either after insisting on a refund they telephoned the manager who talked them through the procedure. Words fail me when staff are left in charge and cannot carry out basic procedures.

I paid for two passes to use the gym whilst I was away in Merthyr, the gym is really well kitted out and clean , hot guy on the gym reception too ! Ha was well worth paying for and If I lived here I’d be a member, it’s a very social busy gym, very much a locals meet up and chat place which is quite quaint in the grand scheme of things

Halo Methyr hosted my son’s 4th birthday pool party today and it was so easy and memorable - I can’t thank all the staff enough!! All the children (mixed ages) had the best time and the staff were all great with the adults and kids, friendly, fun and approachable, they could not do enough for us! We had exclusive use of all 3 pools and it was 100% value for money! What an amazing place! Thank you so much for making my son’s birthday so memorable!

Treharris Park, originally farm land known as Penygraig, was transformed into a recreational Pleasure Ground in 1912. Visitors can enjoy the bandstand, paddling pool, streams, waterfall, wood carvings, and expansive football and rugby pitches.

An absolute beauty of a park, what a hidden gem. It would make a fantastic events and wedding venue. Would love to see a cafe or snack shack, more litter bins and additional play equipment to the paddling pool and swings area. The toilets need to be open. The kids still loved playing here, including hide and seek. Great for picnics. Massive football and rugby pitches.

Beautiful park with a blend of ancient, natural forest mixed with new and managed plants and flowerbeds. For a small park it has a good number of features, including a bandstand and a paddling pool. There are streams and a waterfall, and nice wood carvings dotted around the path. Shame there's dogs mess everywhere along the paths. Otherwise, it's good place to bring young kids to kill an hour or so. There are a couple of swings, a small slide and some new/modern outdoor instruments for the little ones to bang away at. Weird that most of the good stuff is outside of the play area fencing.
Simon K — Google review
It was a nice, very hilly park with steep hills to climb. We enjoyed the wood carvings and plenty of seats to sit down. But for someone who hasn’t been there before we didn’t know that there was a small car in the park, as there was no sign to say car park this way. I stopped the gardeners van and asked. So we drove through the gates and then we were still lost finding the car park. So I had to ask again which road to take. It’s very confusing for new comers. Maybe try and make it a bit more friendly with sign posts pointing the way as it was up the top way at the back. All the workers there were very friendly and helpful though.

When we got there, the lovely staff member put a crown on my little boys head and made him feel like a king for the day. He didnt take it off! All his friends enjoyed their time there. We had a delightful Sunday at Superbowl UK with the kids, enjoying an entertaining day of activities. We spent one hour bowling and indulged in delicious hot dogs and chips that were conveniently served at our table. Following that, we moved on to the soft play area for another hour of fun before exploring the arcade. The only issue we encountered was with the sinks in the soft play area, which needed better attachment to the walls.
Went out for the evening with friends and tried out the Adventure Golf for the first time. We went to the reception and one of the employees took us over to the area for the golf. He gave us our balls, putters and scorecards. The golf was really fun and we would definitely come back again. All the staff were really friendly and made us feel welcome. Would recommend. 02/07/2024

Took my son there recently, we went bowling and then the arcade. As it was a weekday we had 2 games for bowling for £9 each, which I thought was good value. After our games of bowling we headed into the arcade and I think it had a good amount of arcade games to play, all the games we played we found the rules were pretty straight forward. But for the amount of money you spend in the arcade to get tickets I found that the prizes wasn’t really worth the amount of tickets. One negative thing I would say is the toilets, you have to have a code to get In which is okay, but the code didn’t work the first 4 times I typed it in, then eventually I got in and was greeted by the most eye watering smell of urine. If I wasn’t so desperately needing to use the toilet I would have waited until I got home.
Rachel S — Google review
Machines malfunction constantly. They eat your money or don't give tickets. Have to keep asking staff to refund but they have an attitude as if it's our fault the machines don't work. The toddlers play area is so tatty. All the foam shapes and mats are torn to shreds. Can't be hygienic. Also there's no lighting so it's just a dark dingy play area which you get trapped in if there's no staff to let you back out.
JmfT — Google review
Its been refurbished since the last time we went. Much better now. There's a new soft play area which wasn't there before and the arcade section has been increased in size. Slush is decent, couldn't comment on the food or alcohol.

Nad experience complained about the fosters being flat as it was flat. Then was threatened by the manager Leo to be cut off as I complained too much about it being flat absolute joke for management to threaten a customer about complaining about a drink rather than deliver good service will not return and will be forwarding a complaint to their head office.

It would of been a 5 star if the customer service was there.. we was waiting around for a few mins before anyone showed up at the bar. There was adventure golf and laser tag which I think is so cool! Wish there’s more like it around the uk! Great fun with kids or partners! Some of the claw machine but of a scam!

On March 1st, I had the pleasure of visiting Vertigo Trampoline Park with my daughter and her friend. The food offered at the park is truly a fantastic deal, making it easy to refuel after all that jumping around. There are ample seating options available, ensuring everyone can find a spot to relax. While some parents mentioned feeling chilly, it's worth considering how warm the kids get while bouncing about—so maybe bring a jacket instead of wearing shorts!
Loads for the kids to do. Prices are reasonable and match what you’d pay in Cardiff / Newport. Cafe was well stocked with plenty of options. Lots of seating for the parents.
Simon T — Google review
It's ok a bit run down, but I have given one star because after visiting a number of times, today I was told my youngest daughter couldn't go on the airbag. I would be fine with this if the rules had been updated, but they haven't. See photo manager was rude and told me it was clearly covered under the drop tower rules. Then why are there two sets reiterating most the same points. Will go elsewhere in future.
Gwil — Google review
The kids had a great time, but it was absolutely freezing cold inside, to the point where we saw kids bouncing with their hats and coats on. We were sitting at the tables, and it felt even colder. The prices for older kids were ok, but for young children we had to pay twice - once for the child, and once for the adult who had to escort them. I understand that young children need to be escorted, but charging the escort too felt a bit much.
Ryan D — Google review
Took my daughter and friend on the 1st march. Food there really is great value for money. Plenty of tables to sit at. Girls thoroughly enjoyed it. Heard a few parents complain it was cold but spare a thought how hot the kids would be running around if they put heating on. Take a jacket and don't wear shorts like the numb nuts complaining. Will be going back in the near future

**********AVOID AVOID AVOID********** ***************************************** Parents of children who have a disability and require additional adult support at all times. On arrival at the park, we were told by reception staff that in order for my disabled son to access their facilities, we had to pay three times more than a typical child ( with no support needs). My son has severe/non-verbal autism and a profound learning disability.  He has no understanding of language- so he is unable to respond to verbal direction in any way whatsoever. He also exhibits some extremely challenging behaviours and is self injurious. To ensure the safety of himself and others around him, he requires 2-1 adult support at all times. We always carry medical reports to evidence his need for 2 carers, although it is very rarely asked for due to his level of need being clearly evident to those meeting him. ----Vertigo Merthyr price list--- Child- NO additional support needs- £12.50 Child-1-1 Additional support needs +1xcarer- £25 Child-2-1 Additional support needs+2x carers £37.50 *************************************** The Equality Act 2010 protects individuals from discrimination when accessing goods, services, and facilities, and it requires providers to make reasonable adjustments to ensure EQUAL access. This means providers CANNOT treat disabled people LESS FAVOURABLY than non-disabled people, and they MUST take proactive steps to ensure accessibility. It is unlawful for service providers to discriminate against someone because of their disability, including by REFUSING them service, providing services on LESS FAVOURABLE terms, or subjecting them to other DETRIMENT. ***************************************** Vertigo charge children with disabilities who require additional adult support significantly more to enter than a child without support needs. The increased cost to enter relates directly to the childs disablity, and only that. There is no other reason for the increased cost. The child is at a detriment due to the requirement for them to pay more to access the park. This is less favourable treatment. Offering a one hour asd quiet session per week- allowing free carers-is NOT equal, when there are 30+ hours accessible for typical children. Charging a disabled child significantly more to access your facilities safely due to their requirement for carers- is NOT equal- when it costs 3 times less for a typical child. Discrimination at its very finest.

The staff are highly praised for their kindness and efficiency in responding to inquiries. The soft play area is considered suitable for children up to around 6 years old, with good visibility from different angles.
Great little soft play, ideal for children around the age of 3. Food and drinks were good and we even got to meet a Peppa Pig mascot included in the entry price (check their social media for mascot appearances and other special offers). It's a small play centre but that can be a good thing as it's easier to keep your eye on your child! They were very responsive when I messaged them on social media.

Not very well managed. Ladies serving werent very attentive and were as if they were in their own world, especially knowing that customers are queuing outside in the rain and have an allocated time slot. Staff were very stand offish, borderline rude with no customer service skills at all. The lattes are the powdered sachets with added hot water and children's drinks are warm kept on a shelf. Nestled in the stunning landscape of South Wales, "The Gap" is a must-visit destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. To reach this breathtaking spot, follow a scenic path southward beneath the A470, meandering alongside the picturesque River Taff. The journey offers fantastic 360-degree views from the summit known as Golfers Cap, where you can gaze upon iconic peaks like Pen Y Fan and Corn Ddu, as well as serene reservoirs and surrounding mountains.
Lovely 7 mile route to here today. Tad hilly, but there is a carpark there if you don’t like a long walk. Quite a few routes up to the actual Gap. I took a hard one up, but an easier one down. Views from the top are stunning, up two valleys either side, and towards Caerphilly area to the right. So peaceful and long as you block out the droll of A470 below. Highly recommended

Fantastic 360 degrees views right on the very top called the golfers cap, you can see Pen Y Fan, Corn Ddu near Brecon and Cilfynydd, Perthcelyn Reservoir and Carntown mountain and Penrhiwceiber and directly down from this is the famous gap. If you walk along the old canal accessed by the farm house just off the road there is an old railway tunnel which leads from Edwardsville to the other side. It's not safe at the moment with falling debris and large holes in the floor, but it's still fascinating to see.

Nice, quiet, relatively clean. Quite a natural feel to the park with large old trees dotted around and the odd mushroom patch here and there. The sensory garden is lovely and carries a good odour as you walk through and enjoy the bees buzzing from flower to flower. A playground is also within the grounds for little ones.
