Seafood restaurant
Lobsta Land Restaurant, located in Gloucester, Massachusetts, has been a local favorite for over 30 years. This seasonal restaurant is known for its inventive dishes featuring fresh seafood, such as lobster bouillabaisse. The menu may be small but offers classic and tasty meals made with the best ingredients. With a casual and friendly atmosphere overlooking the salt marsh, it's the perfect place to enjoy innovative lunch and dinner options while soaking up beautiful sunsets.
I came here for lunch with my best friend. Our waiter Tracey was wonderful! She gave us a bunch of recommendations for local places. Both of us ordered lobster rolls, we loved them. I definitely recommend this restaurant!
Tori S — Google review
Absolutely definitely and so fresh. This restaurant hot the spot with it's dishes. I recommend getting a reservation as it can get busy. Parking lot can get full but plenty of off street parking. The view and food come hand in hand.
Karishma V — Google review
Generous portions of nice food. Great service, unique location & facility. Live music outside on the deck was cool. Would come back here if in the area 100%
Losee R — Google review
Great experience visiting this restaurant for the first time. The baked haddock was delicious. I would definitely come back just for this. The service was excellent.
Cecilia C — Google review
The food here was amazing and I had one of the best dishes I’ve had in YEARS, the Salmon and Exotic Mushroom Risotto. REALLY impressed, all 3 of us ate every bite of our meals. The only very small complaint is they don’t serve water with the meals, I had to ask a few times which I thought was odd. As I looked around many people did not have water. There is an outside deck which was booked ahead of time when we made our reservations and it overlooks the marshes, really a place you want to dine!
Tracy V — Google review
This place hit THE Spot with direct aim. Great views, prompt service and delicious food. Yup, I "loved" my smash burger for left-overs along with.
Franconia N — Google review
Come here for the vibes!. The view out back is amazing. This place is popular so expect the wait to be a bit. The staff was fantastic. Very attentive!
Robert H — Google review
What a perfect place for lunch after a long morning whale-watching! The view is magnificent, the food was amazing and the service (Shawn) was impeccable. We were a large party of 6 and were seated right away. I had the haddock tacos and my wife said the haddock chowder was her favorite thing she ate in Gloucester. Highly recommended. Thanks for a great meal!

Grill
Located in Gloucester, Seaport Grille is a charming waterfront eatery offering a diverse menu featuring surf 'n' turf, pizzas, burgers, and signature drinks. The restaurant boasts a picturesque location by the harbor with stunning waterfront views. Its cozy blue interior and ample indoor seating create a relaxed beachy ambiance. The restaurant takes pride in using the freshest ingredients to prepare classic seafood dishes served in generous portions.
we stopped there while on vacation. Good place to eat. View from inside was good of the harbor. Didn't get to sit on the patio, since it was lunch time. EXCELLENT service, waitress took time to tell us about the items on the menu. wife had Lazy Mans Lobster Bake, I had Seared Scallops on a bed of Lobster Risotto. Appetizer of Calamari.
Tim O — Google review
Seaport Grille is a famous seafood restaurant right on the coast of downtown Gloucester, overlooking the ocean and docks. The staff were friendly, though it did take a bit to order food, the food came out quite quick beyond that. There was plenty of seating even at prime lunch hours, so we were able to be seated quite quickly. We got an assortment of foods, including their lobster roll. The lobster roll is priced at market value, which was around $30 when we got it. The lobster roll was a good size, with a good amount of lobster to eat. Personal preference is that we like ours hot, but this was served cold, but still pretty enjoyable. It just felt the bread overwhelmed the lobster at times, but was still delicious to eat. The clam chowder was good, consistency was on the watery side rather than thick but had a great flavor. The caesar salad plate was large, and tasted great and fresh. We also got a side of fries, which were like puffed up potato wedges, though we got too much and had to take it home. Overall, it was an enjoyable meal and well deserves its hype.
Nick S — Google review
A 4 star restaurant with partial views of the harbor (if you look beyond the parking lot), outdoor/shaded seating available , good service and decent food. We ordered fried scallops, haddock tacos with flour tortillas and the bacon cheeseburger. The total bill without tip was $76 or about $25 per person. The scallops were delicious whereas the broccoli was saturated in butter. The Haddock tacos were great, and the cheeseburger was decent. The fries are more like slim wedged potatoes and were okay.
Steve S — Google review
My husband and I went here for lunch because it came highly recommended on social media and it was decent! The oysters Rockefeller were my favorite part. We housed our food because we were pretty hungry after a long day of walking but the entrees were definitely a bit Boston market esque. Still tasty, comfort food but nothing extraordinary. We ordered the seafood trio and haddock dishes which came topped with a yummy breadcrumb mixture. They also are super generous with their wine pours :) The water views are nice if you get a window seat but we still enjoyed our booth. The staff is all very pleasant and our waitress was so kind and appropriately attentive. I would be curious to try a different spot next time but still very much enjoyed eating here and would recommend grabbing a reservation.
Jen B — Google review
A tiny wait but that made me excited to give it a try. Packed in a Thursday!!!! Did not disappoint. The clam chowder was excellent as was the fried fish plate. Took my dessert to go but it looks delicious. Will visit again in my return trip to Gloucester.
Linda W — Google review
I really wanted to like this place. I think I might be being a little generous with my stars…Great location, friendly staff. If you love giant portions this might be the place for you. Could not finish our dishes. I wish we’d have known we could have planed our order a little differently. I love ordering Calamari when I’m traveling. This was pretty good. The wedge salad was good, it could have need dressed with a third of the dressing. The tuna salad was enormous and I think they may have served me a whole cucumber.
Nicholas A — Google review
Great location on the water. Was told it would be 20 minutes for a table. It took an hour. The lobster pie was good. The swordfish was not so good. The picatta sauce was blend and thin. The other entries were just average. Was hoping for something more.
Jim T — Google review
Good food and service. We went for dinner and had the filet mignon and macaroni with pulled pork. Portions are big. For dessert we had the coconut cake which was delicious. Server was really nice. Plenty of parking.

Restaurant
Causeway Restaurant is a popular dining spot located by the water, offering generous portions of Italian fare and seafood. The casual atmosphere and nautical theme add to the lively experience enjoyed by locals. With jumbo seafood servings, hearty pasta dishes, and juicy meat entrees, this restaurant focuses on both quantity and quality. While the prices may be higher, the ample servings make it worthwhile. The marine-themed interior complements the abundant platters of golden-fried seafood.
You need a little bit of patience if it is busy, but you WILL NOT be disappointed! It has always been fabulous. The food is incredibly flavorful and talk about getting what you pay for? You can eat at least twice of of meal. The staff is very efficient..l They know their stuff, trust them.
Cathy B — Google review
The food was outstanding I had the fried clams. They were plentiful. Service was excellent and atmosphere was nice. They gave a real good portion . My son had shrimp scampi and said it was delicious.
Theresa S — Google review
Living in Mass I have high standards for my fried seafood and ever since finding this hole in the wall gem of a spot I literally won’t eat my fried seafood anywhere else because no one in all of New England can compare! Immaculate food beyond delicious reasonable and just perfect. Start with the fish chowder because if you don’t you’re a fool. Best scallops wrapped in bacon anywhere. And as I said it’s all about the fried. The Pete’s platter is my always go to. Huge scallops. Juicy shrimps. Clams with belly’s so big and fresh and perfectly crispy. Calamari for days. The whitest most flavorful haddock. I dream of this fish!

We ate our dinner at The Causeway Restaurant at the night of Tuesday, September 30th. After visited Halibut Point State Park and amazed to see the narrow neighborhood to drive through Gloucester, we were very hungry and excited to drink beers. But unfortunately, they don’t have a license to serve any alcohol. I understand and I’m fine with that. We got a good and friendly server. I didn’t catch her name. Dark long haired woman server. We got in and there’s a plenty of people inside to eat their food. The noise was loud but we can talk in a loud voice together. It was about to go getting busy around the dinner time. The food was worth it! I got my Chicken Gorgonzola. It’s freaking fantastic and delicious! Even the gentleman sit across from us who was curious and asked about my food. It’s a real Italian food! Great place to eat!
Cody B — Google review
It was pur first time at The Causway. It was PACKED when we went on a Friday night and we were lucky to get bar seats. The restaurant is on the small size and is known for its LARGE portions. We found this to be TRUE. I ordered the grilled lemon pepper salmon with broccoli and asparagus. I've never been given such a HUGE piece of salmon. It was tasty but a bit on the oily side. It was VERY loud but the staff were always attentive. I would not say this is a good place for a date. They do have takeout and sitting at the bar area in front of the kitchen have us a really look on how they operate. Everyone is always moving at moderate to high speed. Overall, it was a good place to get a huge portion of food, but I probably wouldn't dine-in again because it was too loud and it was difficult to hear what my partner was saying. There is the option for take out, to consider.
Jane G — Google review
Strong 4 from my side, propably would be better if id eat at the spot, but had to do pick up and ate after 10minutes. Food was still hot, fries were nice and crunchy but shrimps kinda tasted tasteless and were like a 'gum'. Tartar sauce was amazing.
Huba L — Google review
Sooo Good! We had the haddock sandwich and the fish & chips. The portions are huge (easily shareable). Fish was very lightly battered and so flakey! No alcohol on the menu. Service was excellent, the are quick and attentive. Solid place for dinner.
Teresa S — Google review
My party of 5 came here after a long day walking around Salem. The traffic was a nightmare to get to Quincy so we decided to go north and wait it out. The menu for the Causeway in our AirBnB had “where the locals go” and “huge portions” handwritten on it. I got Spaghetti and Meatballs, my mother in law ordered the Haddock au Gratin, and my wife had fried clams. The food was amazing and the portions were huge. It was a relaxing no frills place. They were busy but our food came out in a reasonable time and the server was attentive. Highly recommend!

Located on the historic Seven Seas Wharf, Gloucester House Pub offers a casual dining experience with fresh, locally caught seafood. The Blue Collar Lobster Company, situated on the deck, provides the freshest seafood where patrons can order at the pickup window and enjoy their meal on the covered patio overlooking the water. The establishment is known for its fast service and delicious New England style seafood dishes such as blackened haddock tacos and hot lobster rolls.
Hot lobster rolls done right! The hot lobster rolls were buttery, fresh, and packed with generous chunks of lobster, no fillers, no nonsense. The flavor was rich without being heavy, and the toasted bun added the perfect crunch. The seaside setting adds to the charm, casual, fun, and perfect for a laid-back seafood feast. Service was friendly and quick, even during the lunch rush. Highly recommend if you’re craving authentic New England seafood with zero pretension. Will definitely be back! 🦞

Ordered the twin hot boiled lobsters with onion rings and coleslaw on a Saturday afternoon. The waitress taking our order was friendly and she hands you a buzzer to let you know when your order is ready to pick up. The food was ready within less than 5 minutes from the pick up window. The lobster was fresh and delicious. The onion fries were huge, light and crispy. As tasty as there we couldn't finish them. There was plenty of outdoor space in the front and back of the restaurant with amazing views of the water. They had live music after 4. Highly recommend this spot for great seafood.
Fibi N — Google review
I can not get over how incredible our meal was! My friends and I were away for a girls trip and we stayed in Gloucester and all over my TikTok showed this place was the best lobster roll in town! We will be forever dreaming about our meal that day! My friends each got a lobster roll and I got the Lobster corn chowder! It was so delicious! I can’t wait to make another trip and take my family here! Thank you so much for a great lunch!
Erika B — Google review
We didn't eat here. The inside bar was closed. We only stopped in for historical reasons. Also the 7th season of Bewitched was filmed inside this building on the Salem witch convention episodes. Cool huh?
Allan S — Google review
This place is awesome for hot summer days right on the water. The food is amazing and the portions are generous. They put close to a pound of lobster on a roll. The fish tacos are also very delicious. If you’re ever in Gloucester I recommend you go try them.
Crackman J — Google review
This place is so good! The lobster roll is massive and the lobster is delicious you’re getting multiple claws and giant pieces of the tale. It’s so good! My only critique would be maybe a slightly more durable bun we opted for a hot butter roll, and it did start to get quite mushy as we ate it. But other than that, it was phenomenal. It comes with french fries and you can order a beer there. When we went on the fourth they had live music, which was awesome. This place is worth a little bit of a drive if you’re around.
Tonijoy P — Google review
Totally hit the spot and always such a great place to come hang out with friends. The live music was great and the food was delicious! My only complaint is that the haddock was a bit rubbery and the lobster roll completely fell apart but at least it was delicious
Jessica P — Google review
What a gem. The food was incredible. Both chowders, were amazing. The haddock was SO fresh and clean. Just white, flakey deliciousness, no ‘fishy’ taste/odor. Staff was really friendly and atmosphere was a vibe!

1606 Restaurant & Oyster Bar offers an upscale dining experience in Gloucester, with a traditional New England decor and stunning ocean views. It is known for serving high-quality seasonal American cuisine and the freshest local shellfish at its newly renovated oyster bar. Guests can enjoy alfresco dining on the beautiful deck, complete with fire pits for a cozy atmosphere. The restaurant also accommodates special dietary requests, offering gluten-free options and a good selection of wines.
Really good service and vibes. I had oysters to start and the sea bass for my meal. My daughter had chowder and calamari. My meal would have been 10/10 if the skin was crispy all over but only the edges were. Flavor made up for that tiny note. Will remember that dish probably forever.
Sadie M — Google review
We had a wonderful breakfast sitting on the outdoor terrace overlooking the Gloucester harbor. It couldn’t have been a more beautiful setting on a Friday late morning! We enjoyed the Fisherman’s breakfast which included a New England touch of baked beans, brown bread, grilled tomatoes, greens and eggs (your way). The Eggs Benedict platter was also so plentiful and plated attractively. The wait staff was attentive and cheerful. It was also interesting to see the artwork in the lobby and the unique gift shop that sells well-priced unique items.
GBC — Google review
Location & Atmosphere: absolutely perfect. 🌤️ We ate outside, and the weather couldn’t have been better — a little chilly with the sun shining just right. The restaurant’s deck overlooks the beach and offers the most refreshing ocean breeze. The staff was pleasant and welcoming, though I didn’t interact too much, so I can’t recommend anyone specific to sit with. The food, however, was pure chef’s kiss. 👨‍🍳✨ If you order anything here (even though it’s a bit on the pricey side), please make it the lobster roll. It was our first one ever, and wow — buttery, fresh, and prepared to perfection. The roll itself was soft, and the lobster melted in your mouth. Parking was free, which was a nice surprise, and after lunch, the beach walk made for the perfect way to end the meal — whether you’re on a romantic date or, like me, spending the afternoon with family. The only small miss: my dirty martini wasn’t quite as “dirty” as I prefer. The waitress actually mentioned it as she dropped it off and kindly offered to add more olive juice. The bleu cheese olives were delicious, so I didn’t fuss (and yes, I happily drank it). Next time, I’d love if the bar fixed it up before it came out — but that’s a tiny note in an otherwise perfect experience. Bottom line: this place is a must-try! 🌊🍸🦞
Michelle L — Google review
Yummy! I’ve been here twice and felt satisfied every time. The food is delicious, and they have beautiful outdoor seating with a view of the beach. I highly recommend it!
Han T — Google review
great view, great environment, amazing food. the food was so good I can’t even describe it and I’m a very picky person. But that was all overshadowed by the great service. Genuinely kind people, 10/10 service. If you’re visiting Gloucester this is a must because I said so, and you have to trust me. Best anniversary celebration.

The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating options with modern decor and exposed brick walls. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, creating a fun and vibrant atmosphere.
Everything we get here has been fantastic. We first discovered this restaurant the day we got legally married, then we asked them to cater our wedding and we’ve frequently either taken friends or have ordered delivery when people are in town. Everyone we’ve experienced Tonno with has also been super impressed. The staff is always very attentive and super kind. Never disappointed in anything we’ve ever had. The restaurant is nice without being stuffy-nice and they have a nice outdoor area when the weather is right for it. They always have their own parking lot! Don’t skip the desserts!!

We were greeted with a smile and upbeat attitude and we were asked if our table was to our satisfaction. Our waiter Ezio was very knowledgeable about the menu and fully explained all the dishes we were interested in. The Shrimp appetizer he recommended was amazing! The pasta was fresh and the sausage was delicious. The risotto was cheesy and delicate with fresh asparagus. Wish we had room for dessert. Cappuccino and expresso were spot on . Give it a try!

Tonno was great. We ordered the Caesar salad, mushroom risotto, and mussels for starters. Everything was flavorful and delicious. For mains we had the bolognese and Sunday sauce. The Sunday sauce was rich and the meatballs were perfect. The bolognese was much different than others I’ve had, unfortunately not one of my favorites. However the homemade pasta was very good. Our server was attentive and welcoming.

We attended a wedding there lastnight and it was pure magic ! I didn’t know they offered this but I am so happy they do! The moment we walked in it was magical. Every detail was perfect. The atmosphere, every detail on the table like the roses, glitter & candles everything was so special. The food of course was perfection! You have incredible and kind waitstaff. Our server was attentive and she made us feel special even with such a large group. If you are looking for an intimate and special place for a wedding this is your place ! Thank you for making my friend (the bride) feel so special and loved !

I didn't usually give 5 stars across the board but this place was fantastic!!!! Oysters were the freshest I've had recently, food was on point!!!! I got the tuna steak with an additional side of the white beans. I was so happy with my choice. I plan to return next time I'm in Gloucester. I can't remember our servers name but his recommendations and patience was much appreciated and worked out in the best possible ways. I was there with my 2 kids and niece and everybody left happy and satisfied. Server was tall with glasses and he was excellent!!!!!!

Tacos Lupita Gloucester is a cozy cantina located on Washington Street, offering a casual and charming atmosphere with its brightly painted walls and mosaic-detailed tables. This budget-friendly Mexican restaurant is known for its incredible tacos and hearty dishes, perfect for takeout. The portion sizes are generous, making it a steal for the prices offered. The menu features authentic tacos, crispy and tender carnitas, as well as other Central American-inspired Tex-Mex delights.
I ate here in December 2024 for lunch! I ordered three burria tacos for $10, and they were absolutely delicious!! Super filling and great value for the price! The food came quick and there were many options on the menu! I definitely recommend if you're looking for a delicious lunch or dinner spot.

Big disappointment tonight. And first time in weeks they answered their phone. (3) “Crazy Burritos” with chicken. Picked up on time. Found sitting on counter. Not warm at all. Food is never warm, let alone hot. Mismanagement. Very little chicken. Hard to find. Usually never answer the phone. Tonight, my loss because they answered. Much better years ago. Bummer. Next time, Im driving to Beverly. La Victoria. Never disappointed there.

We are a family with small children and it was perfect for a casual dinner. The service was great and the food was delicious and both my kids ate everything! We had the steak tacos, chicken enchiladas, and the kids shared a full size chicken quesadilla. It later on got busy with locals which shows that it is popular! The only thing is parking is hard to come by so look around the side streets for one. Highly recommend!
Mat S — Google review
#vegetarian food The food is filling and great for the price. The two of us ordered 3 dishes but we could not finish it. We ordered veggie tacos + crazy veggie burrito + veggie chimichanga. The ambience is simple and clean. There is ample parking on the road right in front of the restaurant.
Pooja P — Google review
This is mainly a takeaway place with a few seats. The food is very good, authentic and plentiful. We especially can recommend the chicken chimichangas. Nice and friendly people at the counter too.
Erwin W — Google review
Our party ordered multiple times in one sitting. This isn't indicative of the portion sizes (the portion sizes were huge), it's just that we were all hungry and the prices made us feel like we were stealing. You get a lot of food for what you pay. We got crazy burritos and chimichangas, all super filling. The pupusas and tacos were pretty good as well, but I would have liked more. The tortillas they use taste great. Definitely try one of the Tropique drinks from the fridge too. Guanábana was sweet and slightly thick. 8

This place was good. Sauces are spicy. Beans are not refried. There is 1 bathroom inside. 4 stars for service due to fact that we asked for no sour cream for one meal and pico on the side for another meal and they both came on it.

Vegetarian's review: A modest establishment with quite a steal prices for huge portions of authentic Mexican cuisines. We had Veg chimichanga, Crazy Burrito and one Veg tacos. There's just something about a good taco, you feel the harmony of raw ingredients mixed to proportions. I loved my wife's Chimichanga more than mine burrito. Chimichanga felt more like a pizza(I know weird comparison),but hear me out. The fried taco came with lime rice and beans. Inside the fried taco was a generous amount of cheese with sauteed bell pepper and onions. The taste felt like a home made pizza. But hey, maybe it's just me. The portions however are not to be underestimated. One feeds two. Loved the place!

Talise offers a unique dining experience with a small, daily-changing menu that features fresh local ingredients. The restaurant is housed in a charming shingled shack on the Annisquam River, providing stunning sunset views and casual elegance. Guests rave about the generous portions of seafood-centered dishes like crab bucatini and halibut with parsnip puree. The farm-to-table concept and daily menu changes add an exciting twist to the dining experience.
My wife and I had an amazing experience here this past Saturday night. The restaurant itself is tucked away in a quaint, charming part of Gloucester that offers beautiful ocean/harbor views and the dining experience matches the atmosphere perfectly. Limited menu, but the food was outstanding top to bottom. We sat at the bar and the bartender Ariel provided some of the best service we’ve had in recent memory. She was very kind, genuine and hospitable and her knowledge of the menu and ability to describe each dish as well as the wines was very impressive. She knew every detail top to bottom. I also want to give a shout out to the hostess (or whoever manages the phone). I called last minute around 5 PM to see if they had any openings which they didn’t at the time, but she called me back around 7 to give me a heads up that a table would be opening up in about 30 minutes, so we hopped in the car and headed straight there. I thought this was just overall a really kind and thoughtful gesture. We couldn’t have been happier with our experience here and we will 100% be coming back as soon as possible! 10/10. Highly recommend.

Great restaurant with a gorgeous view of the Annisquam river. Fabulous service but limited menu focused on tuna and other seafood. We had seared scallops and roasted duck breast as entrees and topped it off with delicious tiramusu. The menu is somewhat eclectic and pricey, but the location charm compensates for that!

A waterside gem. Excellent service. Delicious shortlist of dishes and drinks. Joined the waitlist two days out and was given a table day-of planned visit.

Truly a fantastic restaurant that we are very fortunate to have in New England. Talise is everything we could hope for: family owned, supports the community, celebrates our fisherman and the seasons, and most importantly- continuously pushes out Michelin quality food that never gets old. Wish them nothing but the best and hope they can be a part of our community for a long time and an institution you just want to root for.

We can walk to this restaurant. We made a reservation and they did not have it in their "system". They sonehow found a table in the outside area with blankets available...ok we are with another couple..lets accept that. No apology offered. Entrees ordered...one was delivered wrong ...chicken instead of halibut...but our friend said ok. he will take it. I asked if the clam sauce was white or red...white..but it was not ...it was a red bisque with lots of broth left over and few clams. We still had a good time but for what Talise pretends to be they need to do better. We have more reliable options with better value in Gloucester.

Was able to get a reservation sort of last minute for my birthday and I’m so glad I was able to! This was probably one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I love how everything is farm to table and the menu changes daily, such a fun twist. I got the bucatini with lobster and it was unreal, with such a generous portion of fresh lobster. Yes, it is a little pricey but it’s not overpriced for the quality of food & amount that you’re getting. My only slight complaint is that it was a little dark at night and my mom couldn’t see that well, but that didn’t take away from the amazing dining experience we had. I will definitely come back the next time I’m in Gloucester!
Salvatore S — Google review
It's a fancy new place, very expensive. The salad was good, but too pricey for what it was. The service was great, the view is nice, maybe even nicer at night. It is in a neighborhood though, so I cannot see anyone just discovering that place - it's pretty out of the way. I didn't know what half of the menu was, so definitely a gourmet-like place. The dessert menu looked good and they have a nice wine selection.
Vali C — Google review
Snagged a reservation on opening day and was blown away! My mom and I were so impressed by the seafood centered plates, all very well portioned in my honest opinion. Two entrees & an app (and dessert!) was perfect for two. Crab bucatini had a ton of crab, not greasy at all. Halibut had an amazing parsnip purée that balanced the fish. Friendly service and location made it feel really special, away from the busy downtown areas. Do be aware that parking can get tricky; definitely carpool when you can. Since the menu changes frequently, just go knowing that there will be something you will LOVE on the Talise menu.

Minglewood Harborside is a popular restaurant in Gloucester known for its fresh seafood and sushi, served in a quirky harborfront space. The restaurant offers waterfront dining with a large deck, live music, and creative cocktails, making it an ideal spot for a date night or casual hangout with friends and family. The menu features eclectic dishes including local seafood, classic tavern favorites, and creative sushi.
We were a party of four and had appetizers & a late lunch at 3:00 pm. The fried gluten free options are amazing! They have a dedicated gf fryer. The gf sweet potato fries and lightly crisped gf fried clams were delicious! Others non gf persons had lobster rolls, (good size for the price), and sushi. Apps were Peach Burrata with pistachios, fried buffalo cauliflower, and seaweed salad. They have an excellent selection of seafood, sushi & sandwiches & salads. They have an outside seating deck. We ate inside but still had a view.

Love this place! The service is always good, the food and drink are generally great (though they lost a star for the quality of a couple of take out meals which were below par - eating in has not failed us however), the location is terrific, and free live music os ALWAYS good!

Minglewood is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Gloucester, with great staff, amazing food, and a unique atmosphere on the harbor. Their sushi is really good, and all the food is brought out super fast as well. My server Joe was incredible! I highly recommend Minglewood for a great harborside meal.

Such a positive experience the moment we entered! the more than pleasant host Lucy welcomed us in and found us the perfect booth. Edward and I couldn’t get enough of Shawna. She not only had like the best suggestions for things on the menu, but made sure we felt taken care of! We also met Caroline. She was super nice! Will be back!

We came at a relatively busy time, but only about half the tables were full. We were told 15 minute wait, but ended up waiting well over 45. Service was extremely slow and food was mediocre, but atmosphere was nice. You couldn’t actually access the dock from the restaurant to look at the water, which was disappointing. Food was also pretty expensive and they even took forever to bring the check.

8/16/25 Hands down best burgers in town! Could possibly be the best burger I've ever had. We had a Minglewood & smash burger which were absolutely phenomenal. Menu has tons of options & we can't wait to try more! Service is excellent. Sushi rolls were top grade We will definitely be back very soon. Fortunate to live so close to a top tier restaurant. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We held our Wedding Afterparty in the Captains Room last Saturday 10/25 from 10:30 pm -12:30pm . They let us stay until about 1pm. Zach the GM helped us set up the event almost a year and a half in advance . Everything went great. The food was out when everyone arrived , multiple people complimented the food . Bartenders were super friendly and accommodating, they let my wife hook up her iPhone to the speakers so she could play her own music . Which was awesome . We had a little over 100 people at the event , there was plenty of tables and chairs , and still a ton of room for people to talk and dance near the bar . Will 100% host another event here .

We used Minglewood’s side room for our wedding after-party, and it was perfect! Communication with Zach was great—he was super easy to work with, very chill, and made sure everything ran smoothly. The sliders and sweet potato fries were a huge hit, our guests loved them! They even provided boxes so we could take leftovers home, which was such a thoughtful great for the next day! We were able to hook up to the aux cord and play our own music, which made the night feel even more personal and fun. Everything was wonderful! Thank you so much, Zach and the Minglewood team!

Nestled on the far edge of Bearskin Neck, My Place by the Sea has been delighting diners for over two decades with its innovative American cuisine. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating with breathtaking water views that have received national acclaim. The menu changes weekly, featuring dishes like Sam Smith BBQ Shrimp, lobster tacos, and the Appetizer Kit. This fine-dining establishment has garnered numerous awards and is renowned for its premier panoramic ocean views.
We ate upstairs on the upper deck with stunning sunset views for a quiet and romantic dinner. Excellent attentive service even for being away from the main level. Everything was perfectly timed from the drinks, to the bread, to the chowder, to the meal. The clam chowder was some of the best clam chowder I've had in a long time. The swordfish special was fork tender, the perfect thickness, and the best flavor, and a meal that is going to be hard to beat for a long time. The steak was also very flavorful and a great option for my landlubber date. I was allowed to try a bite of it and it was every bit as flavorful. A dining experience to remember. I'd highly recommend it. Reservations recommended especially if trying to dine on nice evening at a 'place by the sea'.

Lovely place to dine but average dishes, unfortunately. I would love to spend more time here for the vibe, but the food quality just doesn't match the price or expectations. We got a chicken sandwich that was dry and somewhat bland, a salad that seemed underdressed, and some okay fries. Probably won't go back.
Dallin N — Google review
Outstanding locally sourced food and innovative presentation. Beginning with focaccia and a red pepper sauce, then shrimp prepared three different ways, and an exceptional haddock entree. Not often you get great food in a tourist area, but this was exceptional. Also had a wonderful server, making for a perfect dinner. Highly recommend.

My husband and I almost went to a different restaurant, but so delighted we chose My Place By the Sea! From the friendly, knowledgeable server, to the atmosphere, to the location, and the delicious food, My Place By the Sea did not disappoint. We enjoyed it so much that we plan on making this a restaurant we visit regularly when we're in Rockport!

Stopped by My Place by the Sea for lunch while exploring Bear Skin Neck. The service was great and the food was delicious. We chose to sit outside on the deck despite the chilly weather and enjoyed the view. We paid a little more compared to other places in the area but it was worth it because of the view and the service.

Absolutely the best sirloin I've ever had. It was perfect. The fries in steak sauce and juices. The greens, carrots and squash. OMG . I wanted to eat my plate. The service was very upscale also. Not use to this type of food or service. Can't beat the view either.
Rege G — Google review
Left this meal feeling incredibly underwhelmed and annoyed at the price of the bill for what was served. The cod was severely under seasoned, and the mashed potatoes were watery. It had TV dinner vibes. My friend had ordered the lobster tacos which on the other hand were over seasoned and oddly seasoned at that… for $70. I will say, the mussels were very tasty, but again a pinch of salt goes a long way. The view is spectacular but the food itself leave a lot to be desired. Disappointing for sure.
Meredith L — Google review
Our dining experience was nothing short of amazing. We were welcomed with warmth and true hospitality. The owners have clearly put a lot of care into creating a space that was spotlessly clean, and the attention to detail was evident in every corner. The food was spectacular as well! A lot of local flavors and the coconut cake was to die for. Our server Nick was the best! Can’t wait to go back.

Azorean Restaurant & Bar is a charming establishment that offers an inviting atmosphere and phenomenal Portuguese cuisine. Located near Carls Cones, it provides a warm and casual space to savor hearty land and sea specialties from Portugal's Azores Islands. The restaurant's exterior exudes Mediterranean flair, while the interior resembles a classic European-style house with elegant arch walkways, hanging decor, and mosaic walls.
Excellent food! I got the soup and lemon ship. My husband got the seafood trio, octopus was great. For desert we shared the pineapple coconut pie.

Waiting time: 0min (no reservation, dinner) First dish: 5min Felt like I was dining in Portugal! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in. The little neck clams in soup were rich and full of flavor—highly recommend ordering the bread ($4) to soak up every drop of the sauce. Calamari with Molho Vilão was so delicious. The Lisbon octopus was a standout—super tender and flavorful. It might have been a touch too soft for my personal preference, but the taste was excellent. Overall, a fantastic experience with authentic flavors and great service. I’ll definitely be back!

My husband and I love the Azorean Restaurant in Gloucester. You feel as if you’re visiting Portugal! My go to is the baked stuffed shrimp… 5 stuffed jumbo shrimp served with a side of melted butter, lemon potatoes and fresh green beans. The calamari appetizer is tender and sweet with a hint of heat. We tried their fish chowder - which was creamy and oh so good! I went for the seasonal Pumpkin Martini. They have the best drinks.

All of the food was incredible, from the chicken roll up to the bread that they served, to both of our entrées. But the service left much to be desired. It was my birthday, and that our waitress could not have been more rude or dismissive towards our table. Not just about my birthday color but more importantly it when we ask for non-alcoholic beverages as she was a very condescending. I’m not sure why she was having a bad day but it should have had nothing to do with my late lunch.

Excellent customer service! My husband and I found this place while taking a trip to Gloucester, and even though it is a little far from our house, we keep coming back because of the delicious food and great customer service. We also love how the menu is constantly changing with the seasons. Most recently, we had the salmon benedict and autumn harvest quesadilla. The Benedict had generous portions of salmon, perfectly poached eggs and delicious hollandaise sauce, and had a spicy buffalo type sauce for the tater tots. The autumn harvest quesadilla was stuffed with squash and was accompanied by a tasty homemade salsa. The quesadillas are one of the things that are always changing. I look forward to going back and seeing what is next.

Mile Marker One Restaurant is a lively waterfront bar and grill located at the Cape Ann Marina Resort. It offers a variety of dining options, from seafood to steak and salad. The restaurant boasts river views and a vibrant atmosphere. Guests can enjoy delicious meals such as oysters, lobster rolls, steak, salads, sandwiches, and burgers. Additionally, visitors might have the chance to spot Giant Bluefin Tuna from the deck while enjoying their meal.
We have eaten at mile marker many times during the summer months and were sad knowing that the season was coming to a close. I saw an ad that they were doing igloos and immediately reserved one for a birthday celebration. We have a very hard time getting certain family members out of the house, this helped entice them to want to check it out and it was absolutely amazing. You would have no idea you were eating outside because they kept these nice and warm. We loved having the privacy of our own space celebrating a special occasion. The food we already expected to be great since they have never let us down before, but the overall addition of sitting in an igloo outside in the winter made everything so much more special. They do charge a fee per person to “rent” the igloo. But it was well worth it to have a memorable moment with the family I feel bad for not remembering our servers name, but she was delightful as well. I would highly recommend this experience, even if it’s not a special occasion just because it’s something fun to do We will definitely go back a few more times for our normal family dinner…it’ll help break the dullness of the winter months.

Food is excellent. Local sea food is as fresh as it gets. Special water views makes the entire experience a bit surreal. It does get crowded so orders can back up. Service is very friendly. Also serves the boating community with to go orders. Just a busy place but outstanding food. The atmosphere is very casual and part of the marina culture. Enjoy!

As a regular, I have experienced excellent meals for many years, today was like they were new kitchen staff and new owners that have never been in the restaurant business. My food runner brought out my order of bang bang shrimp, gave it to another table, they said it was not theirs, I said that’s mine and he obviously did not hear me! He brought it back to the kitchen. Then I watched him bring it out to a different table, and again bring it back to the kitchen! The third time when it came out, I said, “where did you go with my shrimp, you ran away?” As a server, his reply was “it wasn’t my fault”. Then, my Girl was craving a beautiful lobster roll, what she got was something other than that for $37. I don’t know what type of bread it was but the lobster was chopped up and looked like it came out of a can. It was supposed to be hot drawn butter on the lobster roll and it came out cold, no butter, about three strands of lettuce and an untoasted, whatever type of bun they put it on! This was not a lobster roll from the Northshore of Massachusetts that I have ever seen, and in Gloucester, you would expect nothing but the best! I got a protein bowl with grilled chicken and I must say it was very good, but the staff were not as friendly as they should be working on tips, but I never tip less than 20% regardless. They all could’ve used a lesson on greeting their customers with a smile and at least acting friendly being in the service industry. I expected much better from the place I have come to love, today was not love in return.. 😵‍💫

A popping restaurant! Busy and high energy. The view of the water & boats was so peaceful though. My sister & I got a variety of appetizers to share; the tuna poke, hummus plate, M1M pizza. The tuna poke was perfection, the hummus plate could’ve had more pita bread but it all tasted great, the M1M pizza said it had a spinach dip base and artichoke but I don’t think ours did unfortunately. Their specialty key lime mojito was absolutely delicious and I’m still thinking about it.

I used to love this place! Not sure when it went downhill. We drive here from Boston every summer as a tradition, but this will be the last year! We were sat pretty quickly, which I think was to our detriment. After being seated, we waited about 30 minutes before asking another waitress for help. We finally spoke to our waitress after she stopped by a regular’s table to say hi first, and ordered our food. Between our waitress and the manager on duty, an apology was never given for the wait, just excuses about the bridge being up (something that happens every day?). Felt weird, but they were down 24 people we heard, so tried to give them a break. Food was just okay, drinks that were described as coming with fresh fruit came out bare. The icing on the cake comes when the table next to us went to get their own drinks from the bar because they had been waiting for almost 40 minutes! This time, the manager didn’t even attempt an apology and flippantly told them they were between shifts right now. If you want a stress free lunch with great views, this probably isn’t the place. If you come for a drink at the bar, you’ll probably be okay. Just watch out for rusty salt shakers!!

Service from host to server was lovely as was the location. Sitting by the water watching the boats come and go was beautiful. Food was good but not as good as my last visit. Last time I got chowder and mussels and those were both excellent. This time we got salads and shared fries. Fries were limp and salads were okay. My daughter got the watermelon stack and I had a new crab meat salad. I feel like the watermelon could have had more or missing greens (mint?). The crab salad was good but I’m not a chef so not sure what it was missing. Was just lacking flavor and I added the lemon and dressing. It was all fresh but missing something 🧐

The marina is beautiful. The food was good - we got lobster rolls and lobster grilled cheese. They were great. Got a couple cocktails, also very good. Mine was pricey ($18), but I’ll say they made it strong. Respect. The calamari wasn’t bad, but I think the breading it is fried in is pretty bland.Easy to get to. Service was fantastic. Would definitely recommend.

Located in Cape Ann, Franklin is a lively gastropub offering creative New American cuisine and artisanal cocktails in a sleek, dimly lit setting. The menu features indulgent options like thin and crispy fries drizzled with truffle oil and cheese, which pair perfectly with a juicy steak. Visitors have praised the restaurant for its exceptional food, inviting ambiance, and top-notch service.
We arrived in Gloucester after a long drive from nyc on a friday evening, absolutely starving and looking for dinner around 9pm. Most restaurants had already closed for the night, and we were about ready to give up when we thankfully found Franklin Cape Ann. This small, cozy restaurant welcomed us even at that late hour. At first they brought out fresh bread before our appetizer, which was very nice. The grilled octopus was excellent. I had the pasta of the day with perfectly cooked shrimp. My dad got the sautéed mussels, and my brother went for the fresh ground sirloin burger with fries. Everything was perfect and delicious. So happy we found this place - it really saved the night!

My wife and I dropped in early for dinner on a Tuesday night, and were lucky to get a table. (Make reservations.) The main room is smallish, but even when it was busy, it wasn't super noisy. In fact, there was live music - a jazz duo of string bass and clarinet - that was amazing. I had their special Manhattan, which was good but not to my liking. We split the arugula salad, which was tasty. I loved the morsel of fried goat cheese. We also split a bowl if the fish chowder, which was delicious. The fish chunks were substantial, and the over all flavor was subtle, with a touch of heat (maybe white pepper?). I would order this. For dinner, my wife ordered the pan seared cod, which was concealed between a generous portion of mashed potatoes and a pile of oyster mushrooms on top. The mushrooms were especially good, and basically stole the show (over the cod). I had the hanger steak and truffle fries. Id probably swap the fries for a different side, but the steak itself was delicious. It had substantial bark/sear and was still very tender. All in all, we had a great meal. The food was delicious ans the vibe was awesome.

10 out of 10. Best dining experience and scratch cooking I've had in years. Halibut special with scampi sauce, asparagus, and garlic mashed potatoes. Tuna sashimi perfectly quick seared with a side salad and mashed potatoes. All desserts made in house - so hard to choose, but the key lime pie was a perfect end. Three of us dined in last night and raved about our meals even after we left. The Franklin is worth every penny and calorie. Highly recommend. **November update. I Finally ordered something other than the Tuna! The Organic Grilled Salmon with Warm Sweet Potato Salad, Honey & Sriracha Glaze is also very easy to recommend. Top 3 salmon dish I've ever had.**

We stopped in and sat at the bar for drinks and an appetizer. We had the zucchini appetizer and it was healthy, tasty and unique. We’re looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu.

My girlfriend ordered sushi but it wasn't fresh I ordered a burger and asked for it to be well cooked but they brought it burnt and the frise was not very fresh but the decoration and interior design is very nice and the waiters inside are friendly

Elizabeth was an exceptional bartender. She made me an awesome Dark n' Stormy! She had a very pleasant demeanor and considering the doll house size bar she was working, she was very calm. She's like a size 6 and apparently not claustrophobic cause this was the most narrow bar I have ever seen. My husband and I shared the fried eggplant salad appetizer and it was very good. It also came with fresh Italian bread and hummus which was yummy. The restaurant is quaint and the bar area had a TV but it wasn't on. The Red Sox were playing so it would have been good if it were on. There was music overhead but very faint. The globe light fixtures over the bar were very cool but needed dusting. We decided to go somewhere else for dinner 'cause it was a tad boring staring at this narrow bar shelf. I can't explain it but picture sitting in an upscale walk-in closet having a cocktail. Good for 35 minutes but then you have to leave.
Sarah P — Google review
The food overall was delicious, especially the fish chowder. Service was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was disappointing and not what we were expecting. The restaurant is tiny and tables are very close together (especially in the middle where we were seated). In addition to feeling cramped, it was really loud. It wasn't the relaxing dining experience we were hoping for, especially for the price.

We lucked out because we didn’t have a reservation but there was a spot upstairs. Staff was really friendly and accommodating. We got the short ribs and butternut squash ravioli. The meals were good, but we are looking forward to trying something new next time.

George's Restaurant & Bar is a popular spot in the heart of the city, known for its classic American diner fare served in generous portions. The restaurant offers a lively and cozy ambiance, making it an excellent choice for a satisfying brunch or lunch. Guests have praised the friendly and attentive staff who go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant dining experience. Dishes such as eggs Benedict, Mexican omelet, loaded avocado toast, and Irish Benedict have received high praise for their delicious flavors and expert preparation.
What an amazing experience it was! We are road-tripping from Poland and we were looking for a diner to get an "American" place to eat - and we found it and then some! We had mind-blowing pulled pork mac and cheese, NY steak, honey chicken sandwich and a burger plus a local beer - all of this food sent us to a foodie heaven. The cherry on top was my conversation with a lovely couple sitting at the next table 🖤

This is one of the best breakfast places in Massachusetts, from the food, drinks and services. Good prices and large portions, plus all the staff members were super friendly! Yes, we had to wait, but we'll worth it!!

Just in town for the day and saw George’s sign and knew I had to try!! Wowzer! It was wonderful! Never had a scramble “bowl” like this before! The scrambled eggs, bacon and cheese was served in a hulled out twice baked tater that seemed to have been fried! The waitress was so prompt and attentive to make sure my needs was met! Fantastic find!!!

My friends and I visited this place during our weekend girls trip and we were so happy we tried it. We had brunch and it was fantastic!!! It wasn't just a regular bacon and eggs or pancakes type of food. We had the biscuits with sausage gravy and eggs, loaded avocado toast and buffalo chicken wrap with onions rings. Sounds regular, BUT DEFINITELY NOT!! Let me just say, on the first bite we all closed our eyes and said mmmmm. The service was great. Everyone was very friendly and kind. If you are in Gloucester, this is a place you must go to.

Great place! Had the Prime Rib special they offer every other Friday and the next day the George's big breakfast. Both were fantastic. They have creative drinks that they rotate. I had a pumpkin white russian with my breakfast. It was a great fit. The staff was very attentive and didn't miss a beat on their service. FYI they do take credit cards now.

Short & Main is a contemporary bistro that offers a delightful dining experience with creative pizzas, fresh oysters, and a variety of brunch options. The restaurant has received high praise for its superb food, including the wood-fired pizzas with tomato sauce base and homemade hot sauce. Guests have also enjoyed the high-quality ingredients and execution of the menu items.
It was great to have dinner here tonight to celebrate my dad’s and aunt’s birthdays. My dad owns the building and opened Valentino’s restaurant in the 80’s when I was a child. I have fond memories of that restaurant and it’s nice to have another successful in its place. The oysters are fresh and a good price when you go early and the pizza is delicious. Definitely check them out!
Dr. B — Google review
Short & Main is a standout on the North Shore, serving top-tier wood-fired pizzas, fresh oysters, and craft cocktails in a beautifully crafted space. It’s truly a must-visit—especially if you’re in the mood for a perfect pizza plus oyster pairing and a dash of creative ambiance. Just go in with a reservation, an appetite (maybe order an extra pie!), and a bit of patience during busy nights.
Erin M — Google review
The NYT giving Short & Main “one of the best pizza places in America” does the NYT’s a disservice. They make good pizza but I can think of at least 10 places in MA that do better pizza without charging the prices they do. Right off the bat, the prices alone make Short & Main a tough place to recommend. $14 for two meatballs and a slice of bread, $17 for a cocktail, $13 for a mocktail, and $23 for the base Ricardo pizza - plus another $6 for a tiny portion of sausage- felt steep. If pizza is meant to be the star of the restaurant, it should be unforgettable. Instead, it was just… fine. It’s hard for me to hone in on the special qualities of any of the food because frankly there wasn’t any. Perfectly serviceable, but nowhere near worth the markup.
Wilson L — Google review
As I sat down to make this reservation after reading the NYT article mentioning this Gloucester establishment, I was beginning to have high expectations considering I'd have to make the hour drive just to try their pizza, but it was a risk I was willing to take. Pulling in to park near the restaurant, the first thing visible to us was one of the employees chopping wood in the back for their wood fired oven and a line around the corner before they opened. From there I had the inkling that this place was really legit. When they seated us our waiter was incredibly polite and helpful as he gave us his recommendations for pizzas to try. After viewing the menu it was time to order for our table of 3. To start, we ordered a dozen oysters (2 of each oyster offered) which came out cold, fresh, and incredibly delicious. The cocktail sauce accompanying the oysters was an excellent way to elevate the oysters as well. Now for pizza: we ordered the margherita, the ricardo, the funghi, and the louis primo. The pizzas themselves are pretty small so three to four is a good amount especially if your looking to try multiple pizzas. The margherita was very good but compared to the other pizzas the most basic. The freshness of the basil and the sauce elevated the margherita but at the end of the day it was the most simple. The louis primo was a step up with the cheese and sausage and a hint to heat with the peppers and onions and another must have. The ricardo similarly was delicious and the soppressata brought the whole pizza together. While all the pizzas thus far were incredible, the funghi pizza was the bell of the ball. The white pizza with mushrooms, cheese, onion, and a hint of lemon was the showstopper of all showstoppers. I appreciated that they didn't just cut up big mushrooms but instead used smaller mushrooms. The hint of lemon added acidity and zest that truly tied this pizza together. If there is one pizza that has to be ordered it is no doubt the funghi pizza. All in all I think the NYT absolutely nailed this review and frankly it's a shame Massachusetts doesn't have the Michelin Guide because believe me this place deserves more than its flowers, it deserves a star. When you have an italian like my father tell the waiter that this is the best pizza he's had in this country then you know its the real deal. I thought the oyster and pizza combo would be odd but it works so well that now I can't think of pizza without it. The locally sourced produce that they mention on the menu from the local farms adds an additional level of freshness that it hard to beat. I believe that this place might not only have the best pizza in the state but that it's WELL WORTH the drive from wherever you are.

Cute place with great food! We got the rigatoni, oysters, and the louis prima pizza. There was some live music in the corner, great atmosphere.

I sauntered in for dinner this past Sunday having attended the annual St Peters Fiesta. First of, not only were there a lot of people in the city due to the Festival, but this incredible restaurant had just received a nod in a New York Times review as being one of the top 25 Pizza places in the US, the only one in the northeast. Needless to say, I least expected to find even a solo seat, but then I had also not expected to be ushered by a very congenial and amiable host, who I later found out is the co-owner, Matt Cawley. Right from his warm welcome and how he greets and cares to thank each of his patrons, I knew that this place had a special vibe. Having gotten a seat that was amazingly still available at the bar, I couldn’t help but notice the unique custom surface that has a rich veneer filled with Oyster shells patterned in concrete. This is complemented by the very warm ambiance and the friendly service that you will notice all around. Neil and Pat were just the most pleasant folks one could have for a relaxed time at the bar. They made the experience special and inviting. The nice thing is that this place offers smaller portions, so one can try a wider selection from an interesting menu. I started with Oysters that were amazing; see photo with the description. I would say the one from PEI might have had a slight edge over the others, but they were all very flavorful. The next round was a delightful three slice Bruschetta plate which would please any palate; my favorite being the Olive Tapenade. The final course was the acclaimed Pizza, which are all personal sized, and can be shared. I had the Louis Prima, with sausage, red onion, hot peppers, mozzarella and basil. The thin crust is freshly made in the wood fired oven on site, and is as delectable and appetizing as the Times review suggested. From the lean sauce and hardly any grease, to the fresh ingredients you could not ask for a more satisfying taste in a mouth watering pizza bite. Even though I was full, I could not resist finishing the evening with a savory Tiramisu portion. If you are in town, it would be well worth stopping by this restaurant and enjoying the unique set of dishes, and of course the Pizza that catapulted this restaurant to a coveted list in the Times. The ambiance is very cozy and the staff make the place very welcoming. On the way out I could feel the difference when talking to Matt and the pride he takes in running this place, and making sure that everyone leaves satisfied.
Jay D — Google review
Warning! Avoid sitting at one of the two-top tables against the wall of the bar area. The guests who stand there waiting for a table to open up are directly above your head. You will hear each and every word of their conversation projecting directly down onto you. Extremely distracting and loud. It looked like sitting in front of the open kitchen would be the best spot! Anyway, after seeing the nod in NYTimes, we went for the pizza. Fungi was fabulous with that touch of lemon, and a pillowy, semi-charred crust. Could’ve used a touch of salt. Wish we would’ve ordered a second pizza as one feeds one hungry person. Yes it does take 45 mins. Apps: All 3 oyster varietals were extremely fresh and delicious. Beet and peach salad was tasty but needed more pistachios for texture. Overall a top notch spot for pizza & oysters under one roof. I wouldn’t call it mind-blowing as some reviews suggest, unless it’s your first time eating artisanal wood-fired pizza. Lastly and unimportantly, there was an un-well woman in the lobby when we first arrived who clearly wasn’t there as a patron. As my partner and I entered she shared some unsolicited observations with us regarding our physical appearances. Very bizarre and most likely an anomaly.

A great spot for dinner in Gloucester. We went on a Monday at 7 and they were packed - definitely a popular stop! The service was a bit slower but it’s a lovely atmosphere so we didn’t mind. We loved the Spring Buck cocktail, and also ordered the Wellfleet oysters, bruschetta, Louis Prima pizza and Basque cheesecake. Everything was DELICIOUS and fresh with high quality ingredients. We originally came here after reading about it in the NYT and it’s on their list of best pizzas in the US. Don’t miss this one.

Nestled in Gloucester's working waterfront, Oak to Ember is a haven for open flame cooking enthusiasts. The restaurant offers an array of meats, freshly caught seafood, and local produce. Diners can savor the warm aroma of wood smoke as they indulge in delectable dishes like steak and fries, scallops entree, and crispy rock fish. The menu caters to both meat lovers and vegetarians while the cocktail, beer, and wine list impresses.
The atmosphere was great. We loved dining outside on the harbor. The staff was kind, friendly & attentive. We started with the Chowder, Tuna Tartare, and Oysters. For our mains we had the ribs and haddock. Everything was very fresh and flavorful. The menu offerings are unique & different from others in the area. We enjoyed our meal and would recommend Oak to Ember!

I was really impressed by everything we ordered and everything else that I saw that came out of the kitchen. The smoked Monk fish appetizer was delicious and creative. We were in the mood for a burger and it was delicious. We sat at the bar and watched all the cocktails be made and I am sad that I only have one liver because I wanted one of everything I saw made.

Stumbled across this restaurant just while enjoying a walk downtown. The herbed sour dough focaccia with sun-dried tomato butter was the best focaccia we have ever had! Wow! Also the clam pasta and ribs with sausage were so smoky and good too! Had a delicious hibiscus and cinnamon drink which was so refreshing!

We had a fantastic experience at Oak to Ember! The harborside view combined with the warm, open atmosphere created the perfect setting for our night out. I tried the tuna tartar, the Smoked Oak Burger, and the Brooklyn cake—each dish was thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. The burger in particular was outstanding—juicy, smoky, and one of the best I've had. Our server, Tess, was wonderful—friendly, attentive, and incredibly personable. The service overall was top-notch and if I could give more than 5-stars for that, I would. We visited based on a recommendation and have already passed it along to others. If you're looking for great food in a relaxed yet refined setting, Oak to Ember is definitely worth a visit.

Atmosphere was good, service was great…to my personal taste menu options were limited to what I might like. Settled for a burger…which I don’t often eat for several reasons but the burger was tasty! Oh yeah…the brownie sundae was to die for! Sooo good!

What a beautiful space on the water! The staff was very accommodating for an outside table, and the restaurant decor was truly lovely. Our waitress was very kind, but service was a bit slow. They also were out of numerous items. We ordered the smash burgers, some oysters, and the fish and chips. Everything we got was really good, but we wished they had a bit more seafood options (maybe a fish Sammie), and we were disappointed they were out of so much for lunch. Recommend and would probably give it another shot.

My husband and I had our wedding reception at Oak to Ember in June. I can't even begin to explain what an incredible job they did. Their space has the most lovely design & vibe for a coastal wedding - modern, airy, warm and relaxed. Our cocktail hour and dinner utilized all of their indoor/outdoor space which was perfect to accommodate all our guests needs, and we had our dance floor on their gorgeous deck overlooking the harbor. The food & drinks were of course a stand out of the day - a delicious raw bar, incredible passed ricotta crostini & monkfish, followed by multiple options for sit down appetizers and entrees - people were complimenting us on the food for days! Neal and his team are truly so talented and were able to accommodate serving 100+ people at the same time with ease. They let us create custom cocktails and their bartenders had a drink in your hand in less than a minute I swear. Generally, the staff are incredible and go above and beyond. Cally, their events lead, worked with me for months ahead planning every detail - menus, timelines, floor plans, seating charts, decor, and more. Abby, their GM, executed everything flawlessly day of. She and her team handled all of set up and breakdown and tackled any issue that arose so that we had nothing to stress about. Their wait staff and bartenders were so fun and accommodating. Cannot rave about their team enough! Everyone ensured we had the perfect day. If you are thinking about hosting a private event, definitely consider Oak to Ember! They have the most unique, warm atmosphere, delicious food & drinks, and incredible service - you really cannot go wrong. Thank you OTE!

My favorite local joint. It’s spacious and comfortable, excellent rotating wine lists, fun specials highlighting local farms and fisheries, and the barbecue is not to be missed. This is also the best burger (and fries) you can get on Cape Ann. Great hospitality and the kitchen runs smooth and is fun to watch. My son loved watching the open flames of the grillwork’s set up in the kitchen with awe! Go here, bring friends and family, eat and have fun. You will not be disappointed.

Machaca offers a wide variety of street tacos, including traditional options like chicken tinga and al pastor, as well as more unique choices such as cactus tenders and chorizo with potato. The fillings are freshly prepared daily, and the restaurant makes its own corn tortillas. In addition to the diverse taco selection, Machaca also boasts an extensive margarita menu and 25 different tequilas.
First time here and we met the owner (el Puma mayor). Awsome guy. He has a great place. Food was delicious. Molcajete is the best. Hand made tortillas..uuff. The karaoke was on point and the food was delicious and fairly priced. They specialize in tequila and the margaritas where delicious and tart. I recommend for a fun spot if you’re bae hoping the area.

The ambience was a bit boisterous so it made conversation difficult. The decor was nice. Service was relatively attentive. The food offered a wider selection of flavors than other Mexican places I visit. The entre menu seemed complex, but basically each item was the choice of protein/meat and fig each you could choose taco/burrito/chimichanga/bowl. A nice way to present it once you figure it out. I had the mole taco - good but it seemed a little over salted. Someone else at the table said the same ov their al pastor bowl. My wife though the poblano chimichanga was excellent. The one service disappointment was the vegan rajas burrito order that was served topped with cheese. The server comp'ed us that meal which was appropriate since the diner couldn't each much of it, but it reflects poorly on the kitchen.

Delicious Mexican food!! Went during the annual fiesta and they were fast, attentive, and everything tasted delicious!! We had arrived after closing and they were still serving bar apps so that’s what I tried. The sliders! Delicious. Can’t wait to come back and try their full menu.

My friend raved about this place and while the atmosphere is fun and festive the food was really not great. The salmon with chimichurri sauce was dry and overcooked along the edges and raw in the middle at medium, overall flavorless and strangely bland. The sauce was flavorless and the herbs weren’t fresh. I’d pass on this dish and go for something else. The salsa is good and the chips are a little thin but good. My friend loved her shrimp taco and maybe a fajitas or taco is where I should have gone too but I trusted the server and that it’s Gloucester and hoped the salmon would be fresh. I might try again and hope for better but I might not. Overall the food didn’t look at appealing but the crowd seemed happy. Maybe an off night or just the wrong dish.

We were in town from Maine for the day doing some antique and record shopping. We received a tip from one of the antique stores to try Machaca after we asked for food recommendations in the area. HOLY moly was she ever right. I am from the southwest and am VERY picky about Mexican food and Machaca delivered big time. The chimi from the bar menu was amazing and the black beans were stellar. William was our server and could not have been any more attentive and friendly. The service here is outstanding. Also, best house margarita I have ever had. Highly recommend this establishment!!!

Woodman's of Essex is a historic seafood spot that has been serving up delicious meals since 1914. It's famous for inventing the fried clam and continues to be a popular destination for seafood lovers. The no-frills, counter-serve setup ensures quick service and generous portions. With a wide variety of seafood options, including clam rolls, lobster, and shrimp, visitors can enjoy an authentic taste of the sea. The restaurant also offers a nice beer selection and efficient service.
Had a wonderful seafood lunch at Woodman's today. It was a rainy weekday, so no line and no wait. Friendly staff and and efficient set up. The food was excellent, I got a lobster roll and my mom got a shrimp platter. Really great meals.

Had this place on my bucket list for over a year. Followed their site and reviews. Flew in for the Hampton Beach, NH seafood festival and stopped in on the way up. Town and venue were great. Vast selections available on their menu. I was honestly taken back by their prices. I grew up in New England and know what the average costs run based on season & demand. It appeared this location was seriously taken advantage of visitors coming in to visit their historic restaurant. Their new england chowder was plentiful with clam, potatoes and spice but was watery vs creamy. Their lobster rolls were delicious along with their sweet potato fries and fried belly clams. Their onion rings were large but lacked taste in the breading. There was an optional bar for beverages but again were over priced. All in all, the location was nice, food was OK, but was very discouraged by prices ($41 for a basic lobster roll)...smh 3***

The food at Woodman's is excellent! The clam platter is the best!! and it comes with french fries and the most delicious onion rings!!! The service is great and they are super fast at filling the orders!!! We have been enjoying Woodman's for many years now!!! And although the restaurant is always very busy, we've never had to wait very long because they are super fast and there's plenty of room for seating.

First time visiting. I was surprised by the prices on the menu until the food was ready. The plates of good were huge!!! I had the scallops and haddock. Having lived in New England for 30 + years, I can say this was the best seafood I have ever had. Hands down the best! My wife said the same about her clam strips. They come with a mountain of fries AND onion rings. They are also gluten free for the most part. The next time we are in the area, we will be back!

Motown tunes fill the air as one approaches this renowned eatery featuring seafood in the rough. I had the fish and chips--fresh, hot, delicious! Counter service is warm, down-to-earth and efficient. I do find myself wishing there were a few more vegetable and dessert offerings to round out one's meal; the ice cream shop out back has been closed when I've visited.
Lauren O — Google review
I asked the at the front desk which of the options are made of local seafood. He said, just the clams are local. Assuming the other options are likely made of frozen ingredients then. So I didn't take the fish but the clams plate. On the picture you can see what you get for 43 $. Its quite oily, nothing really to taste from the inside. I would consider this a tourist trap but this is just my humble opinion as European. Its now 5 hours since we ate there but I still didn't got the oily taste out of my mouth.

Today marked the first 80° day of 2025, and we took full advantage of it with a visit to Gloucester and Rockport, Massachusetts. While walking along the beach walkway in Gloucester, a friendly tourist from New Hampshire recommended Blue Marlin Grille to us. It wasn’t far off our route home, so we decided to stop by around 4 p.m. As soon as we sat down, we were greeted with complimentary bacon bread and freshly whipped house-made butter. Both were delicious and just enough to warm up our appetite for the main course. Following the recommendation, we ordered the seafood plate and the house burger. As you can see from the photo, the seafood plate was massive—loaded with big shrimp, oysters, and a generous portion of fish. The portions were so large, we couldn’t even finish half of it! To top it off, our dog got to enjoy a good bite of the burger once we got back to the car. If you’re ever in the area, we highly recommend stopping by Blue Marlin Grille. Great food, generous portions, and a perfect stop after a beach day!

Lobster Pie was amazing. Full lobster meat, claws, tail, knuckles in a delicious congac cream sauce topped with buttery bread crumbs. Best lobster pie anywhere. Delicious! Also had perfectly fried clams as an appetizer. As good as anywhere including that famous name down the street. Great service. Saw some fried dinners on other tables and they were huge! This place is a winner.

Big dishes at very low prices. I took some pictures after we ate half. I had French onion soup and chicken wings. My wife had clam strips and haddock. Way too much food. Took half home. Food tasted fantastic.

We love going out for fried clams in the North Shore and decided to give Blue Marlin a try. The Fried clams were great! Portions were large and the service was friendly. Would definitely go back !

Went with a party of 4- bill was just about $300. Steak tips were asked to be cooked to medium well, got medium rare. Potato came out cold and the baked haddock crumbs tasted like Italian and overpowered the whole dish. Only good thing was the dessert and the waitress was less than pleasant. Wouldn’t go back!

Always good food and service here. We started with the muscles which were very tender. Pleasantly surprised it was served in a bucket. There was only 2 of us but enough to feed 4. For meals we got the baked combo and the baked haddock with jasmine rice. Unbelievably fresh.

Located near Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester, Charlie's Place is a beloved local eatery offering fresh seafood and delicious breakfast options. The restaurant provides a cozy and relaxed atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating. Visitors can enjoy a variety of breakfast dishes such as hash, omelets, eggs benedict, muffins, waffles, and pancakes. The establishment is popular among locals for its outstanding food quality, quick service, generous portions, and moderate prices.
The food here is really good for its price. The lobster tastes alright and the fries are warm and crisp. There's a generous amount of haddock in the haddock chowder. The blueberry pie is probably one of the best blueberry pies I've ever had. Great place, I'm definitely coming back sometime to try the rest of the menu.

Hungry and not having much luck. Grateful for places like this, not a seasonal business. Seafood was tasty and good amount for the price. Waitress was friendly and helpful. Haddock dinner Fisherman's platter and the Gloucester atmosphere made it a good day.

Steps away from Good Harbor Beach and a short drive to Downtown Gloucester, Charlie’s Place always has great breakfast and lunch! I have never been for dinner! This is a nice place to have fried clams with French fries 🍟 or onion rings. The service is diner fast. Although the food is terrific, the restaurant has all the hallmarks of a great diner: fast service, great selection, and fast turnover. I loved my fried clam sandwich. I have also had great cheeseburgers 🍔 here! I had an unbelievably delicious blueberry bread pudding with whipped cream!

When you get those New England cravings for a delicious fish sandwich and chowder, Charlie’s Place is definitely worth the visit. On a recent trip to the north shore, we were so inspired by the sights and especially the smells of the ocean, we had to find some seafood to satisfy our cravings. When I called Charlie’s Place to place a pick up order, I was so taken a back by the warm and friendly voice on the other side of the phone. I knew we had made the right choice. Upon pick up, I noticed the charming and humble diner-esque interior of Charlie’s Place. A few wooden tables and chairs with a a counter packed with local and repeat customers. I wish I had seen the specials board earlier because that crab cake BLT sounded delicious. We found a nice place to look out on the beach and had a little car picnic. The fish sandwich was massive and every component (sesame bun, lettuce, cheese and of course, the fried fish) contributed to a comforting, satisfying, and nostalgic experience. Definitely recommend lathering in tartar sauce and a few dabs of hot sauce. We added the croutons to the chowder and sipped it from the cup. Warm, aquatic, and creamy with plenty of clams and potatoes mixed in. Absolutely delicious. The fried clams were ok. I wish they included some lemon. We would probably opt to try something else from their menu instead for our next visit. Overall this was a darling experience for us and definitely worth the visit.

We had breakfast at Charlie's for the first time last week. We've been living in Gloucester for a few years now and haven't tried it but we've heard great things. We were immediately seated at around 10 AM on a Saturday morning. We started off with apple juice and a coffee roll, the coffee roll was good, pretty sweet, lots of icing, the roll itself had a nice flavor because it worked well with the icing, but the part without the icing didn't hold up as well. It was little tough and kind of molasses flavored. For our meals we ordered the Florentine Benedict, strawberry French toast and the chorizo hash omelette (at first.) The spinach on the Florentine Benedict was not the best, it was a bit too watery, this might be due to the blanching process which helps the spinach maintain its color, but I think it could be improved by either adding salt to pull some of the water out or just drying the spinach more thoroughly. The Benedict itself though was fantastic, egg cooked to perfection, great English muffin base, and the hollandaise was more buttery than bitter. Also I think the home fries there may be the best in Gloucester! George's is nice, but they are cut bigger than they need to be. The French toast with strawberry was great, the strawberrys like soaked into the French toast not making it soggy but saturated, plus whipped cream never hurts, and it didn't fill me up in one bite. Next was the chorizo hash omelette, it tasted fine to me, and I was enjoying it, but when my girlfriend tried it she was suspicious that their might be beef in it (we don't eat beef for religious reasons) so we ask one of the servers and she informs us that hash is short for corned beef hash. I had thought it was short for hash browns because the term hash refers to the preparation of chopping something. I don't blame them for the wording, it's a common enough shorthand, but it had slipped my mind. We informed our server that we don't eat beef (at least try not to) and she was super helpful, got us a new meal, which ended up being a bacon egg and cheese on a croissant which was awesome. Plenty of food to fill me up, the croissant was buttery but not to the point of it being an inconvenience, a proper portion of bacon, and all at a good price. They took the chorizo hash omelette off the bill even though we ate like a third of it, which was highly appreciated, and we left the restaurant feeling like we were well taken care of and interested in coming back and trying other dishes there at some point. The restaurant itself was very lively, like you could hear people talking about all sorts of stuff from politics to plans to family life which I didn't mind, and there was plenty of servers around to help with whatever you may need. I can definitely recommend this place to others, but I need to try it again to see whether there is a meal or two there that will keep me coming back again and again.

Great little breakfast, lunch and dinner spot. Super reasonably priced, which was a great find for us. Grilled cheese was 3.99, add a bowl of their amazing haddock chowder or the lobster bisque, a great meal all around! Our server was polite, friendly and spot on in her service to our table. Our was busy when we got there, they were just winding down from lunch. Don't forget to get dessert too, we had blueberry pie, made with those delicious Maine wild blueberries. It's a great spot not to be missed. Decor was simple, but the place was clean. Give them a try!

Travellers, this place is a solid diner they serves delicious food. There are many classic New England seafood dishes here and several unexpected surprises. The diner is small but has a big menu and lots of specials. There was a wait when we arrived but we got our seats at the counter. Service is with a smile. Clam chowder is delicious and homemade. You can taste the smokiness of the bacon. Thee eggplant Parmesan was delicious and the tomato sauce tasted homemade. It was yummy. The eggplant was fried crispy and it wasn’t too cheesy. The burger was good but a bit over medium rare. The barbecue shrimp was the big taster of the day. It was really good. This was a nice solid lunch stop. Check it out. We recommend. TLDR - solid diner many choices

Located on the water at Rocky Neck, The Studio is a newly renovated restaurant with a fabulous deck offering stunning views of the harbor. It's a casual spot popular with locals and visitors alike, featuring seafood plates, sushi, and signature cocktails. The restaurant also offers boat slips and a water shuttle service from downtown ports. Despite being slightly off the beaten path, The Studio's picturesque location and delicious food make it well worth the visit.
Amazing gem hidden on Rocky Neck. Varied menu has great eats for seafood lovers or otherwise. Also they have a sushi bar that wasnt set up when we got there, but the sushi i saw being served looked really good. Sitting outside has a nice view of the harbor. By 630ish on a weekday it was filling up on the patio.

Location. Location. Location. They say is the key ingredient for success. The Studio is a little off the beaten path, but so worth the short drive beyond downtown Gloucester. Here is why. The view. Sitting on the harbors edge on Rocky Neck, the studio has a stunning view and outside deck. While we were there, a water taxi dropped a party off right at the foot of the deck. It is atmospheric, especially if you want to feel like you are in/at the harbor. The food was delicious too! I was surprised to receive three fish tacos when I was expecting only two. And though I thought three would be too many, they were so good I could not resist enjoying them all. Spiced just enough with kernels of corn, they every bite was a flavor filled delight. My partner enjoyed the fish sandwich and house cut “frites” (small French fries). Both were really good. They have a variety of other sandwiches and entrees- so something here for everyone. We were also very happy with the variety of craft beer, too. Better than any restaurant we’ve been too for lunch in a long time.

Had a great table overlooking the harbour. Sadly, we were attended by "Hailey's Waitress" (comes around every 80 years). Bright and bouncy, she had plenty of time to chat with colleagues and other tables. When we finally got her attention (the ice in my drink had completely melted), she was surprised that we hadn't got our food. She appeared a few moments later with the saddest sushi we have ever seen. Who wants grey avocado? We paid our drinks bill and left. The Studio redeemed itself in part for a late lunch. We were the only table there so service was good, unsurprisingly. Very good burger with salad and fish tacos with fries.
Paul L — Google review
Food was not what we expected from a seafood resturant in a fishing town. The lobster and scallops tasted reheated, very chewy. Some attention to detail and fresh prep of food would make this a great resturant.
Patrick B — Google review
There aren’t many places to eat on this side of the water, but luckily this is one of them. The studio is a nice place, prices feel right in line with the area and the generous portions make it feel just right. Loved sitting at the dockside bar for that true water front eating.

The family-owned establishment has been providing fresh baked breads to supermarkets across Cape Ann for three generations. What a cool place right in Gloucester. We had a roast beef sandwich and a bowl of chicken risotto. Then an apple turnover and canoli for dessert. Sat at the table on the sidewalk listening to Italian Opera. It was wonderful.

This place is legit. Best sandwiches and bread I've had in a while. Love the throw back vibes you can tell they have been making these awesome sandwiches for decades. Amazing experience leaning against the brick wall in perfect summer weather with a delicious sandwich with all the fixings in hand. A must stop on travels.

Hands down THE best sandwich spot on the north shore! I’ve been enjoying Virgilio's since I was a kid. Recently I was in town visiting family and I stopped in to see if my memories of those savory sandwiches were accurate or distorted by childhood rosy retrospection. After a careful tasting with my adult tastebuds I can confirm, they are actually THAT good! I highly recommend the chicken Saint Joseph on a roll (add pickles for an extra kick!) The bread makes the sandwich.

Bread and sandwiches always perfect, beyond perfect. Last few times the lobster tails have been a little soggy. Humidity factor maybe, and the piece of tiramisu was frozen in the middle. I'm hoping it wasn't store bought. Again this has only happened once lately. Cant recommend sandwiches enough

Feather & Wedge is a cozy spot with a contemporary setting and natural light, offering a menu of international dishes and cocktails that change frequently. The name pays homage to Rockport's quarrying history, with feather and wedge being tools used for splitting granite. The bar features a wall-sized photo of the town's old quarry, reflecting its past as a producer of desirable granite. The menu includes seasonal salads, burgers, fish stew, and sirloin steak.
Feather & Wedge in Rockport is easily one of the best spots on the North Shore for a seafood-focused date night. The new owner was incredibly accommodating and checked in on us multiple times to make sure everything was perfect, which says a lot about the level of care they put into the experience. Our waitress, Heidi, was fantastic—super friendly and made some amazing recommendations that made the night even better. We started with oysters, prosciutto, and the prawn, which was highly recommended and absolutely worth it. Cocktails were solid, and once the food started landing, we switched to wine. Great call. The salads were fresh and well-balanced, and the standout of the night was the pea soup with butter-poached lobster and bacon. That dish alone was unforgettable. For entrees, we had the bolognese, halibut, mussels, and mushroom risotto with added lobster. Every plate was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Eating that kind of seafood just steps from the water made it even better. The whole place gives off that perfect New England summer energy, but I’d come back any time of year. If you’re thinking about dinner plans, call your babysitter and book a table. You won’t regret it.

Came here twice on a visit to Rockport and both times were wonderful. You know you're in the right spot when all the locals show up at the end of the day to gather - the atmosphere was fun and inviting. Folks said the restaurant had new management and the food was consistently delicious. The lead bartender from Argentina had curated a thoughtful wine menu with some of my favorite Cabernet Franc from Mendoza. I tried the oysters and mussels- both were spectacular. You'll probably need extra bread to soak up all the broth in the mussels. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Rockport - I'll be back!

The bartender here is amazing. So friendly and on top of everything. Great recommendations for drinks and food. The bok choy Caesar and corn chowder were delicious and a great combination. The rum Old Fashioned was a great twist on an old standard and my wife loved the cider and spice martini. A really comfortable bar area.

Justina made us wonderful cocktails (my martini had vodka, a splash of apple cider & spiced pear with cinnamon rim) and served us our wonderful meal at the bar. Great meal, great atmosphere! I’d go back there in a second. It was a bit loud but that added to the energetic vibe!

Zeke's Place is a popular casual restaurant known for its classic American breakfast and lunch dishes, as well as its funky atmosphere and local art displays. Went to Zekes this morning with my mom in Gloucester to try a different breakfast spot. Walked inside the girl behind the counter took my name and number and told me that it would be about a 25 minute wait it was about 15 minutes and we picked out our own seat. The waitress was very attentive and the other waitress was walking around filling up peoples coffee the service was excellent and the food was to die for one of my top 3 new spots the beans were so delicious and my sausage Benedict was cooked to perfection, my bacon was well done as ordered and nice and thick my mothers apple bread was perfect and the fried dough was amazing! Yes it’s a little tight inside as far as seating but well worth it everything was perfect and exceeded my expectations definitely worth the trip and highly recommend

So good I want to keep it for myself. Nothing fancy or special about the place just good food and a cozy atmosphere. Multiple signs posted that good food takes time and they aren't kidding. I'm not a sausage and biscuits fan but theirs have converted me!

I was initially excited to try Zeke’s Place and was ready to leave a 5-star review. However, after sitting at the counter and watching the cooks prepare the food, I became quite concerned about their food handling practices. Throughout my time there, not once did I see them change their gloves. They were dipping their hands in raw egg, touching plates, wiping up spills from the floor, and then handling fresh fruit without any glove change. While my food looked delicious, I couldn’t help but worry about what I couldn’t see. Cleanliness and proper food handling are critical, and unfortunately, this left me disappointed. I hope they address this issue for the safety of their customers.

This is definitely a "locals" place. It has a great neighborhood setting across from the harbor. Signs all around reaffirm they operate at a slower speed than fast food and that all orders are made from scratch. The menu is the perfect combination of classic and new, and the food tasted like it came from my mother's kitchen. If you want to have breakfast IN Gloucester, this is the place. We will be back on our next trip for sure.

I am so in love with the breakfasts here. All homemade, and so imaginative, with all the hometown originals. Many Eggs Benny varieties, thick French toast, yummy sweet potato hashbrowns, and French roast coffee. A staple to Gloucester. If you visit and don't go here at least once your missing out.

Everything we tried was so good!! We went closer to closing and were able to snag 2 counter seats with no wait time. With so many options it was hard to choose just one thing, but since I forgot my glasses I couldn't read the specials written on the wall in the other room I was narrowed down to the printed menu and settled on the eggs Benedict. A perfect poached egg, well seasoned hash browns - I didn't regret my choice at all. My husband ordered sweet hash which unfortunately they ran out of. He said that was fine, he'd take just the regular hash (he'd ordered both to try) we were pleasantly surprised when they made a serving of sweet hash for him anyway! We're already trying to plan a return trip!

Giving a five star review isn’t enough. This diner style breakfast joint is to die for. They have great service, always keeping you on your toes with amazing lively conversations. The food? Easily one of the most delicious on cape Ann. The prices are lower than the other local dine ins. Call ahead to make sure they aren’t packed. They will put you on a list if they are full. The dining room itself is clean and well spacing. They show off local artists throughout the restaurant, which is wonderful. You are able to purchase as well. They have a lot of fresh from scratch products for sale as well! I highly suggest the jams.

This joint is top notch. We came here three times during our week vacation, because the service, the food, and the atmosphere were always welcoming and high quality. Manny and Shawn (Sean?) took care of us during our stay. The restaurant definitely has a family run vibe. The menu is diverse and phenomenal. I highly recommend the lobster ravioli, or the overboard burger. The coconut cake was amazing. The pineapple upside down cake was next level, and Manny said that it is just like he used to have it when he was a kid/reminded him of his childhood. That sold me. It was a great experience overall, and I'm not being hyperbolic when I say I would come back to Rockport literally for this restaurant.

The place has great vegetarian options and provides a pleasant spot to grab a cup of coffee or enjoy a meal.
Great Vegetarian options! We ordered the Rte 127 and the Willow, both were excellent. Pictured is the Willow, could have been a little lighter on the hummus but still great and filled with colorful veggies. Inside is a little chaotic, but I was able to pick up some other goodies for a picnic. Will definitely be back.

Great selection of groceries inside, great breakfast/brunch options. Delicious food. However, we waited almost half an hour for 2 breakfast sandwiches on a Saturday afternoon. Could use more kitchen staff and organization!

Charming country store meets delicious breakfast/lunch spot. Grab yourself a seat outside or inside. The tables are sprinkled in amongst the groceries. Only negative was the temperature. It was very hot and stuffy inside. More fans or AC would be nice!

Great little organic roadside Cafe and store. They have all kinds of organic specialty foods and novelties. This is a must see and try experience!

We stumbled on this gem after Googling for nearby coffee shops on our drive up to Halibut Point State Park. Don’t let the low-key exterior fool you - inside is browsing Heaven for foodies and anyone looking for a well-procured selection of gourmet foods and treats, both packaged and homemade in their on-prem kitchen. Great breakfast and lunch menu too, and super friendly staff. A must-stop if you’re in the area.

Restaurant
Yella on the Water is a charming waterfront restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The menu, influenced by the owner's Lebanese heritage and the Gloucester location, offers standout dishes like fishermens taco with tahini and crispy onion. While some minor issues were noted, such as salty pesto on the Chicken Pesto Flatbread and under-seasoned chicken wings, overall it was a great experience. Parking may be limited but street parking is available.
Nestled right by the ocean in beautiful Gloucester, MA, Yella on the Water is an absolute must-visit for anyone craving exceptional Mediterranean and seafood dishes. From the moment you step inside, you're enveloped in a wonderfully cozy and intimate atmosphere that feels both welcoming and authentically New England. It's the kind of small, inviting place where you immediately feel at ease. And let's talk about the food! While everything we tried was fantastic, I simply have to highlight the clam chowder. Without exaggeration, this was the best clam chowder I have ever had – incredibly creamy, packed with tender clams, and perfectly seasoned. It's a true masterpiece. Their seafood dishes are equally fresh and expertly prepared, showcasing the best of what the ocean has to offer, and their Mediterranean options are vibrant and flavorful. Beyond the incredible food, the staff deserves a special mention. Every single person we encountered was genuinely friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about providing a wonderful dining experience.
Anassiri G — Google review
Our waitress (Trinity?) was so great - knowledgeable about the menu, helpful, kind, and even offered us a blanket as the weather turned cooler. The view from the patio is great despite being across the road from the bay. The food was delicious!

Had high hopes because I love a good Greek restaurant but was just ok. They have probably 20 wines by the bottle and only one of them (a rose) was Greek. So many incredible Greek wines, why not have more on the menu!? Mezze platter with 3 small spreads and fried pita was tasty - but seemed pretty overpriced at $26. Burger ordered medium was well done. Shakshouka had only one egg and was way over salted (and I like salt) and needed some more brightness. Just too heavy and salty. Fatoush w chicken also over salted but the grilled chicken was very good. Shirley Temples for the kids at $6.50 each seems pretty crazy. But that’s my fault for ordering the kids a Shirley Temple. Gotta stick with water. Oh well.

Yella on the Water is a true gem for lovers of Mediterranean and seafood cuisine. Located right by the ocean, the restaurant creates a warm and cozy atmosphere where you’ll feel right at home. The New England hospitality here is complemented by an exceptional selection of dishes. The food is simply outstanding. I must highlight the clam chowder, which is absolutely delightful—creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced in flavor. The seafood dishes are incredibly fresh and meticulously prepared. The Mediterranean options are vibrant and flavorful, adding even more charm to this place. What truly makes the experience unforgettable, though, is the service. Every staff member is friendly, attentive, and genuinely interested in making sure your visit is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. If you’re looking for a spot with delicious food and a cozy atmosphere, Yella on the Water is definitely the place to go.

Yella is a very nice restaurant conveniently located in Gloucester, MA. It has a nice variety of healthy options. We did not order alcohol, so I cannot comment on that. We ordered a salad and a chicken kebab, and shared both. The food was fresh, flavorful and delicious, portions were generous. Our waitress Stef was attentive and friendly without be being overbearing. Our dining experience at Yella was great, and we would love to come back. Thank you!
E L — Google review
My wife and I stopped in for an early Saturday dinner this Fall, no reservation, but we were able to sit on the patio and enjoy the sunset. The portions were good and the flavors excellent. She got a creamy pasta with shrimp, and I got the fish and chips. It was an excellent fry-job. Sort of related, I left my payment card, and the manager mailed it back to me promptly. Stand-up staff.
Daniel W — Google review
Located on the Gloucester waterside, this was a wonderful place to enjoy a fun and casual dinner! The staff could not have been friendlier or more attentive, including Mike, Jasmine and Sam! We were a large party and they accommodated us perfectly! The Mezza platter was wonderful, as were all of our entrees - even our Vegan diner was immensely pleased!
Debra C — Google review
Bottom line, excellent all around. We are not very familiar with Gloucester restaurants but wanted a bite after watching the Bunker Hill reenactment. The service was spot on from the moment we walked into the stylish, intimate inside of the restaraunt to the moment we left. Our meal was superb. I had the Fisherman’s Catch. Perfectly cooked cod (I assume) rubbed with Za’atar (a spicy but not too spicy Mediterranean mix), corn and pepper relish, marinated olives, a little parsnip purée, and some of the best grilled asparagus I have ever had. My wife had the Shakshouka, which also was excellent. Good size portions. The wine list looked solid, at the usual prices for wine these days. Small but good selection of beer including a very nice N/A beer. Yella’s deck is attractive and has a view of the harbor. (Sadly, a small parking area is directly between the restaurant and the water and the restaurant is next to a large parking lot. Only negatives I can think of.) We would definitely go back.

Most delicious cranberry scone I have ever had! Warm, moist, and not too sweet. So glad I stopped in here for breakfast. Definitely will be coming back as soon as possible! Also fantastic baguette. Strongly recommend Alexandra's Bread to anyone!

Everything is delicious! My favorites are the cranberry scones and garlic bread but everything they make is wonderful! It is a pleasure to see Alexander and John, too. We are lucky to have them on Cape Ann!

Alexandra’s Bread makes the best whole wheat bread I have ever tasted, and I have done my share of sampling all over New England and beyond. The owners are warm, lovely, friendly people who run a high quality bakery. Although I am particularly partial to their whole wheat bread, all of their products (scones, cookies, olive bread, brownies, etc. etc.) are excellent and sold at a very reasonable price.

Bakeries are a weakness of mine. You could smell the wonderful aroma of freshly baked bread as you approached the store. We got there at 9 am and many of my favorites were almost sold out! Cranberry scones to die for, wonderful baguettes and crusty little cobbles. Heads up! The store front looks like a gift shop so you might walk right by. Just follow your nose.

Among the best bread I have ever had! Call ahead, a day before to reserve your bread. Ideal for long-term residents but not so much those just passing through. If they delivered across the country their bread would always be my first and only choice.

They are a wonderful couple making sour dough bread by hand. They slow raise their dough like the old fashion way and let it ferment slowly. It’s so delicious they run out quickly So put your order in a few days ahead❤️💜👍🏼😃🍞🥖

I love to come to Alexandra‘s bread. I come early to get them nice and warm fresh out of the oven. Of course they’re baking all morning, so really it’s just timing. I love to get my grandchildren cookies. It’s a family routine now and when my grandchildren are with mom and dad. I send them in the mail For all to enjoy. I especially like the oatmeal raisin cookies just like My mother used to make when I was a kid. Very nice people and also they have nice things to buy gifts and some used items which are wonderful. I got a beautiful rug that will look beautiful gorgeous in my granddaughters room. They have more than just spread. The scones have made many of my ladies very happy for I am a CNA. So wonderful with tea and crumpets for a morning ritual. Thank you, Alexander’s bread happy to support a small business. also, when you walk in there, the smells are incredible. A fresh baked goods made with love. It’s right across from animal crackers on Main Street right after the liquor store.

With over 100 years of history, this seasonal restaurant serves up fresh fried seafood, great sandwiches, and delicious BBQ grilled chicken from May through September. The friendly atmosphere and picturesque views make it a perfect spot for a casual meal or to grab food to enjoy at the park or beach.
Lovely little place that's been around for over 100 years!! Food is great! Cooked fresh to order. The fried clams were delicious!! The people frequenting the joint were super friendly and up for a chatty conversation. The few people that walked in had been there many times before but was surprised to see it still the same as they remembered. The owner was having a friendly chat with some other customers and I joined in. I would recommend this place for a great casual meal anytime!! Thank you 😊

I always give gratuity to people. I NEVER MISS anything but this time it very upset me no apologize from them instead they told we are rude as we didnt give them enough gratuity. But come on i never miss anything to give gratuity but the food is NOT WORTH IT AT ALL. we waited and close ur window on me and saying im rude??? LOOK PICTURE BELOW thats how they serve our food look the hotdog and onion rings it looks like they just reheat and very old

It is a good place to get ice cream with a great view. The food however has dropped significantly in quality over the past few years. I got a fish sandwich for just around $14 with no sides and it had a comically thin slice of fried fish in it. The ice tea had mold in it so I asked for a new one, they gave it to me and that one had mold in it too. Yum.

This is a seasonal restaurant open from some time in May thru Sep. They offer a wide variety of great sandwiches, fresh fried seafood, and a great bbq grilled chicken, to name just a few. It's a nice place to go and either dine in or take it to go. Their bbq sauce is awesome, I love it! I would love to have the recipe or have the opportunity to buy it by the bottle. 🙂 I really should check on that, lol! The location is pretty great, too, since it's across from Stage Fort Park. The fact they have an ice cream shop next door, as well, is definitely an added bonus!! If you're looking for fast food that is pretty darn tasty, then you won't be sorry. It's definitely worth checking out!! They are also really nice people, too - they won't disappoint. 🙂😃😉 Maribeth

The food was very bland and tasteless as was the young ladies at the window, very uninviting, the prices are Ridiculously high, $23 for 3 pieces of cardboard like fish and cold Thawed out fries, Honestly the best part of the meal was the buns ketchup, make sure to buy your own food before you get to the beach, because the meal from the restaurant can ruin you day👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽
Jayde C — Google review
It's worth paying attention to whether reviews here are about the ice cream or about the food. For lunch today, we paid $50.50 for a scallop plate, a fish sandwich and a large root beer. The fish sandwich was some over-fried and thin pieces of a white fish. The scallop plate was nearly inedible. The scallops were barely warm and did not appear to have been fried recently. They were nearly tasteless--almost fishy instead of subtly sweet. Maybe the ice cream at the Cupboard is really good, but I would avoid the fried food--poorly prepared and way too expensive. We went into town to the Holy Cow ice cream place which was excellent.

Leonardo's Pizza is a hidden gem that was stumbled upon unexpectedly. Despite originally wanting to indulge in seafood, the diverse menu at Leonardo's will pleasantly surprise you. In addition to their renowned pizza selection, they offer an array of delectable options such as dinners, appetizers, salads, sandwiches, subs, hamburgers, omelets and much more. One must try their mouthwatering cheesy rice balls. The portions are substantial and every bite is truly worthwhile!
Best Deep Dish Pizza I've ever had. Outstanding. They have a juicy Steak and Cheese & the workers are amazing. I recommend their Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza (takes 30 to 40 minutes to make). When I come here again, I'll have to do meet with it. I did a plain cheese and it was amazing, I can only imagine meat with it. Great place!

Excellent lunch! Our first time here! Lovely ladies serving us. We had a chicken wrap and falafel! Absolutely delicious! The food was fresh and very tasty. We bought our dinner twice there within five days, because the food was so delicious, that we had to come back. Chicken dinner, chicken wrap and beef wrap are all extremely tasty and excellent value for money. The people serving and cooking here work all hard to make a fantastic job, but still are so relaxed, friendly and generally in a good mood, so it is enjoyable to even sit in a while and watch your food getting prepared. They even recognised us on our second visit and did an excellent service job. Highly recommended, this definitely was the best food we had within a week staying in Gloucester.

I got a chicken kabob wrap and Mediterranean salad. Both where very delicious and well seasoned- citrusy and herbaceous. Enjoyed the meat being a bit charred. Many ready made cold sides and salads in the fridge that you can pick up quickly. Workers were kind enough to make my food quickly so I could make it to my whale watching tour promptly. Many thanks.

Very tasty Lebanese dishes and friendly owners. A lot of people started coming in as we ordered so it's a really popular place. A nice change of pace if you need a break from clams and lobster in Gloucester.

Where do I even begin? These are the best dolmas I've had in Massachusetts. I bought just a side thinking the star of the show was my falafel wrap. Don't get me wrong the falafel wrap was good but if I could venture back this way I'd stock up on the domas. The mousakaa - amazing. It's more of a takeout counter but if you're lucky and in small company you can dine in. They work very hard behind the counter so I entertained myself with the magazine they had on the table. I love this spot it's a seaside dream. If you had a cozy cafe I'm sure it would get flocked over by the tourists but I'm sure your team is plenty busy as is. I will be back 💕

Bravo by the Sea in Manchester, MA is a standout pizza place with a focus on high-quality ingredients and a roaring wood-fired oven. Their classic basil-laced margherita pizza and innovative options like chicken bacon ranch or fig prosciutto are worth trying. The fresh, not frozen artisanal toppings make their pizzas exceptional. Additionally, their grilled wings with a touch of heat to the barbecue sauce are highly recommended. The staff is friendly and efficient even during busy times.
So good! Was looking for a place to eat between Rockport and Boston on the way to the airport. This place was easy to get to and had FANTASTIC pizza. The crispy bacon was so good. Very happy to have stopped in.

I can’t wait to come back here! First, the restaurant is conveniently located right in front of the Manchester train station. I was visiting Singing Beach and was starving, so I was very happy I didn’t need to look far for food. I was served by the lovely Eileen and Sari who were so kind and patient with me as I was choosing what to order. They had great recommendations for me. I ordered 1/2 VPP (substituted pepperoni with artichoke based on Eileen’s and Sari’s recommendations) and 1/2 four cheese with grilled chicken pizza. I loved the artichokes on the VPP pizza! You have to try it. I also loved the four cheese with chicken. Although I’m not normally a fan of thin crust pizza — this pizza was exceptional. The pizza was also very filling. To say I’m excited to come back and visit would be an understatement. If you end up going and see Eileen and Sari, please send them my regards!

Some of the best sandwiches I've ever had (got the chipotle chicken). The bread was toasted to perfection, everything was seasoned well. Truffle fries were good too, crunchy. Staff was super friendly and welcoming. Wait for the food was a little long, but worth it. Very reasonable pricing. Great location by the commuter rail stop. Highly recommend!

My daughter made a graduation reservation for 14 people last minute at this restaurant because other places could not accommodate us. We had one waiter, an older man who may have been the owner. We ordered numerous appetizers, pizzas, salads, and drinks. ALL OF IT FRESHLY MADE, PERFECTLY FRESH INGREDIENTS, AND ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. I would recommend this place to one and all. Great value, wonderful food and service.

Atmosphere and servers are great but we found a metal wire in our pizza while chewing it…. I hope we didn’t ingest other ones and if we had ingested this by accident there could be very bad health effects. We stopped eating and it was a sad and stressful situation. Not sure how a metal wire can get into a pizza? Hope the kitchen is being cautious moving forward.

Our friends invited us to the Manchester by the Sea location, and we had an excellent time. On one of the last warm evenings of the season, we elected to dine outside. It was a nice surprise to see so many additions on the menu that we do not have available in Gloucester. The salads and appetizers were superb, but the pizzas obviously stole the show. For us, this is about a close as you can get to Naples/the Amalfi Coast. Thank you, Nick and Team for such a wonderful dining experience. We look forward to our next return.
Anthony B — Google review
Day trip out to Manchester-by-the-sea, and we came across this amazing little gem. I've never tried pizza with potatoes as toppings, and I was very pleasantly surprised. The steak bomb sandwich was very dry, but we asked for and got some BBQ sauce, and it was much better for it, enough to completely turn my friend's opinion of the place around, and they're a very picky eater.
Godfrey A — Google review
I had a really disappointing experience during my visit. I was seated at a table but wasn’t acknowledged, offered water, or approached by any staff. I had to get up multiple times just to try to place an order. Eventually, I decided to switch to a takeout order, but even then, no one came to take payment. I ended up walking out. There were only about four full tables at the time, but the staff claimed they were “super busy.” Frankly, the lack of service felt personal and discriminatory. I left feeling disrespected and uncomfortable. I hope you take this feedback seriously and reflect on how all customers are treated moving forward.

The place is cute and kitschy but there is far too many people working for the slow service and poorly made food. My bowl was melted when it showed up while my daughters was fresh. It’s like the hey left mine to sit. Then I had to ask for my iced coffee. They gave me a look like I annoyed them. There was literally 8 girls in the back, why aren’t they’re available so the one person at the register isn’t doing everything. I would recommend the food based on what we received looked fresh and though melted it had good taste. I would be cautious and quick to call them out if they falter on service. I wasn’t the only person wondering why the staff is all in the back running around but only one person is taking care of orders and customer questions. It was less than ideal experience.

The Rudder is a charming establishment situated on Smith Cove, offering delightful seafood and seasonal dishes in a rustic dining area or on a heated deck overlooking the harbor. It is a popular spot among both locals and tourists due to its island atmosphere, delectable cuisine, and impressive beverage selection. The ambiance exudes elegance with a laid-back vibe throughout the venue.
Latest visit won us over. We visited in early June and the service was slow and they just seemed un organized. But last night we returned and the food and service was fantastic. My wife had the steak frites and I the gnocchi bolognese. Both dishes came out quick and we're delicious. I'm a big eater and the portions were perfect. I was full but didn't need a nap. We'll be back.

We really wanted to love this place. We’ve been going to B&G for years and figured this would meet the same standard. Sadly they’re hardly comparable. I’m all for a chilled dish but the artichoke/rock shrimp was frigid and the shrimp were tough and soggy. We each had one bite and no more. The halibut entree was so desperately in need of proper seasoning. I’m not a big salt girl but this fell flat even for me. Putting this in caps because it’s important. IF YOU GO TO THE RUDDER, ORDER THE LOBSTER ROLL. It’s other worldly and the fries are cooked to perfection. 10/10. Service was great, our waitress Carissa was very sweet. Cocktails were very well executed. Wine offerings were subpar. Summer in a Bottle for a rose feels like a rudimentary choice at best. The vibe was great and the view was serene. I definitely won’t hurry back unless I have a hankering for a lobster roll.

Barbara is bringing it all together at Rudder. You enter as a stranger and feel like you are leaving friends behind at the end of your meal. Grace is key and an elegant low key vibe runs through the room. Everything is cooked to perfection. Saffron shellfish stew, melon balls, prosciutto, and mozzarella starter and bibb salad were delicious. Drinks are great. You can also spot Barbara’s art on the walls while you dine. Her talent extends beyond the kitchen. Have fun!!

Average experience for a premium Boston price. Impossible to park close by, Service was inconsistent, we had to get an additional plate and silverware ourselves. Food was good but not exceptional. Bolognese was a soup, as italian, it was disappointing. Wine served in home style glasses warms up in no time. Prices should be reduced by 30% and staff should get some formation and alignment.
Emanuele P — Google review
Medium sized "tavern" atmosphere on the waterfront with boater access and little to no street parking. Prices are high although in line with current, similar style establishments. Portion size is on the small size, aligned with "tapas" style plates. My guest raved about the Halibut entre, my Ipswich clams were unremarkable at best. Menu is limited and a bit difficult to navigate, beer is available as well as wine with limited selection. Lunch for 2 with shared appetizer cost $145 before gratuity.

We had the most delicious Evening From the fresh oysters to the fois grois, then to the fresh halibut with fresh eggplant zucchini and cherry tomatoes It was a delight. We paired each course with a fabulous wine. The best part of our dinner was our server Franklin, What a delight!!! We gave this a 10 out of 10 evening ❤️

Had a wonderful dinner here last night. The setting is wonderful, right on the harbor overlooking a variety of boats bobbing in the sea. The menu was small but had a lot of good options. We got a hot lobster roll and the lamb. Both were excellent. The cocktails were also a highlight. The service was like we were celebrities with multiple staff members checking in on us, refilling water, asking if we needed anything. First class staff. Overall a 5 star experience and I look forward to going back!

If you're a pasta enthusiast, then Pastaio Via Corta is your dream destination! Nestled on Main Street, this charming shop run by the talented chef Danielle Glantz offers an array of organic pastas crafted from stone-ground wheat. You can choose between fresh or dry options and explore their delightful selection of homemade sauces and pestos. Their signature ravioli, available on Thursdays and Saturdays, are filled with seasonal ingredients sourced locally—perfect for impressing guests at dinner parties with minimal effort.
We have been going to Pastaio Via Corta to shop for homemade raviolis, pasta and cheeses for a decade! Sometimes, in the store, I forget I am not in Milan or New York! The most amazing Parmesan cheese I have ever had! Danielle, who founded and runs this delightful emporium is a former chef at Chez Panisse! I cannot,in the space given, tell all the fabulous wines, cheeses, pastas, and paraphernalia that she stocks! Think Eataly but super personal and smaller! Best gourmet store on the North Shore!

Excellent store high quality Italian food items, EVOO, natural wine, pasta, flour, spices, etc. The owner makes her own artisanal pasta in many shapes and can answer your questions about Italian products and ingredients. These fine products are not inexpensive, but are worth every penny.

My husband and I have popped in a few times with our baby, and Danielle has always been extremely welcoming and hospitable. The staff was very friendly and welcoming even though they were closing soon! We got two mini bowls which were plenty filling with one protein scoop each. I tried their creamy wasabi and man that sauce is potent—just a little bit each bite made the back of my head hurt so good! Excellent flavors and wonderfully friendly service! The smoked salmon is my favorite protein, the poke sauce itself, the crunch and all the toppings, including the drizzle sauces are perfect enhancements to the already incredible base! Even their rice had just the right texture!

Oh my god. Okay, so I'm very new to poke, like have only had it one time... at the mall food courtttt? (I know, I'm sorry hahah) but I just tried it here the other day and am currently eating a warm bowl of leftovers in my lap and just... it's just so good. I feel so nourished. The flavors, the textures. I had no idea it was here and often find myself longing for a nutritious, more wholesome meal amidst the many wonderful pizza/sub/seafood places on Cape Ann - don't get me wrong, I love a good slice or a cheesesteak! But sometimes my body is just like "I'm so tired. I don't want to cook. I need vegetables and rice and salmon, please... please 😂" - The staff was so friendly and didn't make me feel awkward while I stood there reading every single thing on the sign in total overwhelm. They were happy to explain the menu and so cheerful. I tried their new Harvest Bowl with a combo of shrimp and smoked salmon... oh man. I hope that never leaves the menu! If you haven't been, go and have a poke bowl here!

The Beauport Hotel Gloucester is a refined beachfront hotel with chic rooms, a rooftop pool, and bar. It's located in the charming historic district alongside Latitude 43, offering a blend of history and modern dining. The hotel is also an ideal venue for weddings, with exceptional wedding planning services and delicious food. For leisure or business purposes, the hotel offers an adults-only infinity pool with ample deck space and a hot tub. The main restaurant provides fabulous meals with incredible views.
Everything about this hotel was amazing. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. The cleanliness of the resort and design were all outstanding. The food was fantastic, and the location is something one can dream about. The servers were very attentive and they all do a great job of accommodating all our needs. One of the best things I enjoyed on my trip was the lobster crews, the roof top pool, and the food in the restaurants.

Went for lunch last weekend and had a wonderful experience. This location is perfect for lunch or dinner, sitting by the fireplace and having a drink. Went with 4 others and had the fish sandwich for a late lunch. Service was excellent. Super friendly, helpful and prompt. Food was good, but I should have tried something else since there were many other great options to choose from that maybe were more interesting. Great menu and great specialty drinks. All of this is not cheap, but if you are going to pay those high prices in Gloucester, you should get those incredible views. We had friends staying there, and they brought us up to the roof, pool deck area where we sat and had a drink. A great spot for guests. All in all a wonderful experience and I can't wait to go back and try something else off the menu..

We are just coming back down to reality after floating on cloud 9 the past week. We had our wedding at the Beauport Hotel last Sunday 9/28 and it was truly the most magical experience of our lives. We saw so many venues at the start of planning and the Beauport was the only one that made a lasting impression. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to host our wedding there. It was so stunning, beautiful and perfect. We were truly proud to invite our friends and family to such a breathtaking place. The food was absolutely to die for, the waitstaff was so sweet, our coordinator Jacey was attentive in the months leading up to our event, and everything was just wonderful. Little things went wrong on the day of, and none of it even mattered in the end. Our only critique was that a row was not reserved for our bridal party as we had discussed so they ended up having to stand up with us when it was only meant to be our man of honor and our best man standing up. Other than that, everything was amazing. It was truly so special and we will never ever forget it. We couldn't be more grateful to have had the most perfect sunny day on the water in Gloucester, a place that has been special to my heart since I was a kid. Thank you Beauport!

First class hotel in every regard. The attention to detail in every aspect of our stay was an indication that the folks who run this place, and the folks who work there, take the art of hospitality very seriously. Classy. Upscale. Spotless. Breathtaking views. Beautiful facilities, including a gorgeous lobby, impressive bar, warm, cozy indoor dining, and a lovely outdoor dining patio overlooking the water. Can't say enough good things about this place. My wife and I loved it. Truly special.

Had an amazing stay at the Beauport as part of a touring trip through New England. The hotel location is beautiful, right on the waterfront enjoying picture perfect views and sunsets on the balconies. Staff could not be more accommodating, whether that’s recommendations on food and drinks (which are delicious) or the courtesy shuttle within Gloucester (which saved me a long walk back after a boat trip). The rooms are super spacious and beautifully decorated with everything you could possibly need for a luxurious stay. I will definitely be back. Thanks for an amazing stay.

We had our wedding reception at the Beauport Hotel in April and our experience from start to finish was absolutely phenomenal. The hotel itself is beautiful, extremely well maintained, has incredible views, and the best bar & restaurant. And not to mention the service throughout it all was 10/10. Caleb and Caitlin with group travel were the best and helped ensure as many of our guests as possible could find rooms and stay at the hotel with us. The whole events team was extremely helpful and responsive throughout the planning process and execution the day of was flawless. And last but certainly not least our coordinator Melissa was incredible. We fully trusted her and felt so at ease with her direction and help in all aspects of planning and execution of our wedding day. She was everywhere at once throughout the day, always making sure everything was exactly how we wanted and that we stayed on schedule. We couldn’t have asked for anyone better to help our dream day come to life! Everything was truly amazing from the setup to the food and drinks and the service and staff. Our guests are still raving about the food (especially the raw bar boat!) and the service and telling us what an incredible time they had. We could not have asked for a better experience on our wedding day and can't wait to come back and celebrate our anniversaries here.

Great accessible oceanfront room. You can hear the waves and see both sunrise and sunset. When was the last time you got a phone call letting you know you room was available for early check in? They have turn down service with awesome chocolates. Having a super restaurant right in the lobby with the ocean view tops off a fantastic place. We were sorry we only booked for 2 nights. A longer stay for next time!

I recently stayed at this gem of a hotel (Beauport Hotel – Gloucester) and was absolutely blown away by the experience. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. Every staff member was humble, attentive, and truly committed to making my stay exceptional. The rooms were impeccably clean and thoughtfully designed, creating a calm and peaceful vibe that made it easy to unwind. I especially loved waking up to the spectacular beach view right outside my window—pure magic! The on-site restaurant (1606 Restaurant an Oyster Bar) was another highlight. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Whether it was breakfast with ocean breezes or a candlelit dinner, every meal felt special. The location couldn’t be better—just a short walk from the main street, which made exploring local shops and cafes super convenient without sacrificing the tranquility of the beachside setting. If you're looking for a relaxing escape with top-notch service, delicious food, and breathtaking views, this hotel is a must. I’ll definitely be back!

I am shocked that this place has 4.8 stars, there has to be a disconnect from what I experienced. Ordered a bfast sandwich and omelette and knew I was in trouble when the cook cracked the eggs into a muffin pan. My "omelette" was an egg circle with almost raw onion and pepper, two slices of American cheese on the side and three slice of supermarket ham, cold. The toast was cold, potatoes barely cooked, given plastic silverware and paper plates. Totally ridiculous. I'm guessing maybe it changed hands recently because the reviews I read could not have possibly come from the restaurant I went to today. Totally confused by the fact that they have a griddle and fryer but are cooking breaking a turbo oven in muffin pans. Very poor. The guy there was friendly enough and the place was clean.

The sign caught our eye for lunch - but looking into the stark WHITE atmosphere we thought really(?) Then figured why not just get a soup. Once inside it was stark white almost New York cafeteria like except very clean. Soup it was Chicken Lemon and soup of the day. Looking around we wondered why not white and touches of blue...checked tablecloths or even a Greek flag across the front desk or drapes of Greek fabrics down the white walls? Soups arrived and were spot on delicious. Made the mistake of forgetting to get take out for later. Will come back in the future and see the evolution of this Greek treasure.

Alchemy Restaurant is a stylish and cozy hangout in Gloucester that offers creative small plates, sharing platters, and craft cocktails. The restaurant is known for its great cocktails featuring unusual liqueurs like absinthe. The menu includes simple and delicious appetizers such as warm dates stuffed with mild blue cheese and wrapped in smoky bacon, as well as perfectly grilled grouper and scallop dishes.
This was our second visit to Alchemy; the other time was to sit at the bar and enjoy a couple glasses of wine. Overall, I would describe the atmosphere at Alchemy as cozy/funky. There are a number of small rooms throughout the restaurant, perfect for small parties or intimate diners. Artwork on the walls appear to be by local artists. The food was quite good. The menu has something for most everyone - beef, seafood, chicken, vegetarian. I ordered the Braised Lamb and my girlfriend ordered the Trout Special. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Service was very attentive and our server Danielle was always right there when we needed her. A great addition to the burgeoning restaurant scene in Gloucester

Great cocktails with unusual liqueurs, such as absinthe. Our appetizer was simple and delicious: warm dates stuffed with a mild blue cheese and wrapped in a slightly smoky bacon. For the main course we had one of the best scallop dishes we've tasted and perfectly grilled grouper. I think the grouper could have been paired with something better than sweet potato fries. The wait staff were friendly and competent, but a little overwhelmed. We encountered this in other similar restaurants on Cape Anne. The restaurants seem understaffed for high tourist season. It's not terrible -- we didn't have long waits between courses -- but it could be better.

Mixed Bag for two The roasted chicken was overcooked and very dry with very little sauce and hardly any vegetables. The half serving of Pasta with shrimp and sausage was very good and just the right amount for one.

The head bar keep at Alchemy is a flat out pro. He understanding of mixology is second to none. I don't think i've ever come across an American born person who adamantly demanded to stock tonic water that hasn't been run through a siphon. The chef has an eclectic and esoteric knowledge of the regions seasonal harvests and plans his menu accordingly. It's not a fine dining joint, but it is certainly the standard for gloucester's cuisine.

Foreign Affairs Wine Bar & Bistro is a charming and inviting restaurant that offers a warm atmosphere with exposed beams. It serves American cuisine and boasts an extensive selection of over 40 wines by the glass. Located in Rockport, it is situated near popular attractions such as Bearskin Neck and Halibut State Park, offering visitors the opportunity to explore quintessential New England scenery.
One of our favorite restaurants on the North Shore (the second being Barrel House in Beverly). The servers are always very attentive and timely. The dining room is well kept and clean. The menu is changed so often to reflect what's fresh that we've gone back only to find the entire menu is different from our last visit. The flavors are well balanced. The prices are fair considering the quality and (depending on what you get) the portions can be generous.

I went for brunch with friends. I had an expensive egg sandwich. No one at my table had oysters however, I bit into my sandwich and broke my tooth. I found the offending object in my sandwich and called over my server. The waitress was lovely as I quietly explained my situation and the need to identify it the object, which my husband an oyster LOVER identified as an oyster shell. Because I am allergic to shellfish you can understand the need to absolutely make sure WHAT went in my mouth!. No one at my table of 8 or surrounding tables knew of my incident except my husband. The waitress came back from the kitchen saying the Chief could not identify the shell. A Chief couldn't identify a sea shell. huh? I went to the dentist a couple hundred dollars later I contact the office they were kind to instruct me to send in my dentist bill and it would be taken care of immediately......almost a year later I am still waiting. They did send me a $50 gift card which I have not used because really that was the most expensive egg sandwich I have ever taking one bite of and not enjoyed.....at all!! Again, the server was lovely the rest of the staff and big ol' fat raspberry. ....And thanks for the unwanted dentist bill, the lovely letter of lies and the day of worrying if I was going to need to use an epi pen or not. I'd say I hated it but, my husband said his food was decent.

Under new ownership, the bistro has received positive feedback for its cocktails, food, and service. Customers have praised the reasonable pricing and enjoyed drinks like Anejo Old Fashioned and Hope Feels French cocktail. The California Burger and Osso Buco are highly recommended dishes.
Speedy service and great food! We enjoyed the crispy, plump fried clams. The clam chowder had a smooth and creamy consistency, not too thick. The lobster roll had a nice mix of large to small lump lobster meat, and it was so fresh. The haddock sandwich was fried well — crispy, but not dry.

We asked a local where to eat and were led in the right direction to Topside Grill! The clam chowder was rich and flavorful which paired nicely with the flounder being light and delicate. French fries = crispy without being heavily fried. Watermelon margarita = so refreshing. Absolutely loved our experience here!

We had a very nice lunch. The outdoor seating was all filled up but plenty of seats inside. There is a parking lot for the restaurant. The kids were happy with the kids menu (but does not come with any fruit or vegetables). The fish was very fresh! Our server Zuri was great. Will definitely come back again - forgot to order the mussels so will have to try those next time!

Now under new ownership, the new Topside Bistro is great. We checked it out for the first time and were impressed with the cocktails, the food and the service. And the pricing seemed very reasonable, especially these days. I had an excellent Anejo Old Fashioned, and my wife loved the “Hope Feels French” cocktail. Rave reviews for the California Burger and I had the Osso Buco which was superb and beautify presented. We had the Carajillo for “liquid dessert”, a combo of espresso, Licor 43, orange and cinnamon. Killer good! Overall, we loved the happy vibe of the place and its new owners. They are off to a great start and we will certainly be back.

My husband and I were staying in Rockport last night, and picked the Topside Grill over our usual Gloucester House and I'm so glad we did. The food was wonderful! The scallops wrapped in bacon were amazing! I had the sirloin which was so tender you could cut it with a butter knife. My husband had the clam chowder for starters, he said it was the best he ever had ( and we travel alot!) . His lobster was cooked to perfection as well. The service was excellent, we did get there early just before 5 beating the rush. I highly recommend this restaurant, we will definitely be back.

Topside is tops. The third try is the charm they say. Visiting Gloucester Monday we found Topside after two other restaurants we we tried were closed - one because of a lack of staff and the other for renovations. Anyway, we are glad because we ended up at Topside and discovered a nice restaurant, friendly staff, good food and a nice beer selection. My partner had the pulled pork and I opted for the haddock sandwich. Both we’re delicious and filling. We’ll be back.

Went there for our first time today. My husband got the Lasagna. It was nice and cheesy with a good portion of meat. Didn't care much for the sauce. For the price, it could've came at least with a side salad or even bread. I got the Seafood Casserole. It was ok, little bland & mushy. Was expecting a little more. Servers were all great, very friendly.
Nikki — Google review
Travellers, topside grill is a solid stop for lunch or dinner. They have a full menu of items and something to please everyone. Burgers were very good, sandwiches were excellent especially the Ruben. Sandwiches came with fries and Cole slaw and made a wonderful lunch. Caesar salad was very good but not thrilled with the salmon it came with as it was dry and overcooked. Appetizers are standard fare, we had buffalo shrimp and calamari and both were great. We would go back again and we recommend you do too.

American restaurant
Restaurant
Duckworth's Gloucester is a locally sourced New-American bistro that offers innovative, full meals with tasting-sized portions of food and wine. The restaurant has recently undergone a transformation and now offers quality takeout meals. The menu features dishes like steak with chimichurri sauce, roasted sweet potatoes, smoked pork belly tacos with roasted green tomato sauce, pickled onion, and salsa sides. The upscale yet unpretentious restaurant provides impeccable service and a lovely wine list.
Awesome place for a quality takeout meal experience! I knew Duckworth's as a bistro and while that is SADLY missed, its newest incarnation is not to be missed. A great addition to (East) Gloucester! We had two entrée dishes: 1. steak with chimichurri sauce and roasted sweet potatoes as well as 2. smoked pork belly tacos with some amazing roasted green tomato sauce, pickled onion and salsa sides. Pricing is fair since what you are getting is innovative, full meals. And the portions are right. Next time we will pick up some baked goods, desserts, and/or fresh bread (from Iggy's of Boston). The store itself is adorable, with fun sundries to buy: kitchen towels, straw hats, glassware, etc. They have a few tables to sit at if you prefer to eat there but we were just looking for an easy evening meal. Also, we ran into some of the original DW bistro staff, notably Michelle who was at the register. Congrats on the new endeavor, DW team, and those looking for a good meal, stop in!

I have only been there a few times but it is one of my favorite places in Gloucester! The sandwiches and pastries are great, a big variety of unique foods that are worth the money. Also very nice inside, seems like a great place to relax and enjoy some amazing food.

This is where we go to celebrate. The best restaurant I've been to on the North Shore. The food is delicious (we've been here 5 or 6 times and it's consistently excellent), and this is the place to pair it with a bottle of wine. Our waiter has been knowledgeable and kind. The setting is intimate, so get a reservation well ahead of time.

Always the finest time here. Service is impeccable. The menu is not gigantic, but every single thing on it is something I want to eat! Lovely wine list. Home made super decadent desserts (I’m lookin at you chocolate bourbon pecan pie!) finished off our amazing meal. Been going for more than a decade and never have had a bad bite. Bravo!
Hallie B — Google review
Went here for dinner with my aunt and cousin. Our server Colleen was awesome! Super friendly and put us at ease. The food was amazing. We ordered all the salads. The frize was the favorite. We split three half portions of entrees. Hanger stake was killer, duck was delicious, and the salmon was to die for. Recommend all three l. Finished the meal with a Banana cake. WOW. Also love the half/full portion option.
Hunter S — Google review
Excellent. They were so accommodating of my wife's gluten intolerance. Many gluten free options, and each better than the next. Service was perfect, they spent so much longer than they needed to talking through the changing menu items. I grew up 10 minutes away and couldn't believe I'd never been.
Taylor H — Google review
Service was excellent; our waiter was patient and explained everything. Leave a large budget, though! Even without desserts (and with half a glass of wine each) it came to $90. I had excellent salmon with carrot sauce, roasted carrots, and risotto. Most importantly, you can get EVERYTHING in a half portion (even the wine!) There are only 10 tables so make a reservation! Also had wonderful soups (we tried the creamy mushroom and also a cold cucumber soup.) I highly recommend Duckworth's.
Gwendolyn S — Google review
I was taken there to celebrate my Birthday. What an experience! Everything was fantastic. Between the 3 of us, we had the Salmon, Mushroom soup, the cesar Salad, Fish Stew (i think) and we had to try more than one dessert! Banana Cake was to die for; Bread pudding was so good I did not want to share.. I can't say enough about the food and the service. I can't wait to go again.

The Rudder is a seasonal fine dining option offering inspired seafood and seasonal menus. Guests can enjoy their meal in a rustic dining room or on a heated harborside deck with an amazing atmosphere, including live music on certain nights. The restaurant has received praise for its excellent food quality, preparation, and execution. While the drink program is still being developed, there are decent wine choices available.

Ginny H — Google review

Colleen M — Google review
Fantastic food. Loved the Maine oysters, shrimp gnocchi, and bread pudding. Our server Franklin was lovely.

The cafe's homey atmosphere and mouthwatering offerings are definitely worth a visit for anyone looking for a satisfying meal in a relaxed setting.
Why are you not already eating there! The apple Pie pancakes were the best thing EVER! The green giant omelet was amazing with completely fresh ingredients! We are visitors from the south, and were impressed they put biscuits and gravy on the menu. It did not disappoint! These ladies need to make this a chain and head down to Memphis! RUN to get this breakfast!

My family eats here all the time, but this is my first time coming and I was blown away by the positive and sweet customer service, the cozy interior, and the quality of the food. The owner, Katie, was such a sweetheart. There are specials you can choose from as well as a curated menu with breakfast classics that everyone loves. I absolutely loved my time here, and I can’t wait to come back!

I had the Lingucia scramble but asked for the over easy eggs instead of scrambled and I got the pistachio homemade bread. The lingucia was nice and crispy. The pistachio bread stole the show! It was so moist and hearthy, I would eat the whole loaf! The place is small and quiet with rustic live edge tables and the lady who was working was very friendly. Service was quick even though she was the only waitress on a Sunday morning !

My first time here and right when I walked in it was a homey feeling. The waitress and their was on a first name bases with her customers. And she was very nice to me. I ordered the French toast and it was delicious. I love the homey vibes. I would recommend.

Mexican restaurant
Jalapeno's Authentic Mexican Restaurant, located on Main Street in Gloucester, offers a spacious dining room and a bar with an extensive margarita menu. The restaurant is known for its hearty and authentic Mexican dishes, such as the popular chicken mole and street tacos available at discounted prices on Taco Tuesdays. Customers have praised the flavorful chicken enchiladas with habanero sauce, noting that the warning about its spiciness was accurate.
The best Mexican food around! I loved the chicken gaonera and the cranberry margaritas. Chips and salsa were bangin' and loved the weakness of the salsa. Shoutout to Brittany, whose service was 10/10. Can't wait to come back and experience all that is Jalapeños.

Five Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Jalapeño’s Authentic Mexican Restaurant in Gloucester, MA, is a must-visit! The tacos were absolutely fantastic—fresh, flavorful, and just perfect. The salsas and pico de gallo were on point, bursting with authentic, vibrant flavors. For dessert, we had the churros, and wow—crispy, sweet, and served with delicious sauces that made them irresistible. The draft Modelo was ice-cold and complemented the meal perfectly. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with live music that added to the lively vibe. A special shoutout to Lisa, the bartender, who was courteous, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Even the person at the front door greeted us with such kindness and professionalism—it really set the tone for a great experience. If you’re in Gloucester, don’t miss this gem. Can’t wait to go back!

Not good food and ridiculously overpriced for what you get. Typically Mexican restaurants have large quantities, but not at this establishment. I had to capture the kids “burritos” because it was truly just comical. I have never in my life seen anything like it! $8 for a bite-size burrito, chips with microwaved cheese, and hard refried beans plus $4 for drinks (not included in kids meals anymore?!) Ended up spending $60 for 2 kids meals that consisted of pretty much nothing, and 3 skimpy shrimp tacos. Won’t be back here.
Hannah W — Google review
Grabbed dinner after an afternoon at the beach. We grabbed 3 entrees and soft drinks. Service was friendly and quick. Chips and salsa were fresh and flavorful. The main meals were all served hot. Each was delicious in its own way. I don’t think that you can go wrong with anything on the menu.

We waited more than 20min just to get water, The order took a long time. Probably they are understaffed but they need to let us know so we can decide. The food wasn't great either, some of the fast food places are far better.
Fitineverstep — Google review
I used to love Jalapeño's especially for its mole that was not overly spicy. However I return there recently after 5 years away and I was disappointed... The margarita was not really drinkable and the chips came out of a supermarket bag. I didn't stay for anything else. Que decepción después de tantos años buenos...
Nicolai C — Google review
Good Mexican joint. Service was strange: new waitress who was actually very good just lacking confidence. Food was good and good portion. The drinks (margaritas) were very strong! Beware! I give it a 4* for a good meal and nice evening overall. It just didn't blow our minds overall.
