Canyons
Provo Canyon is a picturesque ravine featuring a cascading waterfall and historic railway. Additionally, it boasts a notable ski resort famous for its film festival. This canyon offers plenty of parks and opportunities for fishing along its scenic river. Nearby towns such as Midway, Orem, and Provo provide convenient access to the area. Squaw Peak road also leads off this route, offering an exciting off-road experience. However, busy crowds and ongoing construction are common due to the region's rapid growth.
Very nice spot, the falls is where most people will go to and take photos. You can climb up higher to take photos but do so at your own risk. Nuns trail is also a nice walk to see nature. It was a mostly quiet walk but it might be different when it's warmer

Good running and walking trails. Waterfall has a natural pool at the base. Great for photos and family time together.

I will never not love Provo canyon. The trail for biking/running is so nice and not super steep. We run and bike it all the time. The views are beautiful and it’s my favorite canyon! Plenty of spots to park- canyon glen, timp park, bridal veil, Vivian, etc.

Amazing place! Very pretty, easy walking trails

Provo Canyon reminds me while I’m grateful to live in this state. It’s absolutely gorgeous with tons of hiking trails, waterfalls, and playgrounds. Its free to park and visit the canyon which makes for an awesome day trip for the family wether your on a budget or not.

Gorgeous canyon which leads to a gorgeous mountain landscape once you hit Deercreek reservoir and beyond.

This is where I received my testimony that the Book of Mormon is true, that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and he restored Christ’s church on the earth. This was my own Sacred Grove experience. I know that I know and I’ll never deny it. I was 17 years old. That was 32 years ago. I’ve chosen to follow Christ all the days of my life and I’ve only been blessed by following His Gospel ❤️

Super fun area. It's a great start to the Alpine Loop if you're looking for something fun to do. It has the best views and is honestly just pretty. There's a lot of walking on biking paths, and even a waterfall.

Art museum
Museums
The Brigham Young University Museum of Art (MOA) boasts a diverse collection of art spanning from religious to contemporary pieces. Its 10 galleries and sculpture garden offer visitors the opportunity to appreciate and understand the artwork on display. The museum is highly recommended for its prestigious status as one of the most renowned art museums in the American west, and it's also free! It provides an immersive experience for those who prefer physical viewing over digital means, showcasing numerous exceptional pictures and art pieces.
We loved the guest exhibition. The whole museum is wonderfully done barring the color on the walls in the soul exhibition downstairs, it made the informational plaques hard to read. I loved the diversity, there are many materials and subject matter to give lots of choices for different people. I can hardly wait to see the two new exhibits they are constructing. My teenage son recommended the museum so that is saying something. They have family activities to go along with the art. The cafe was closed, that was disappointing. It took us around 3 hours to go through it. It is free so great family cultural activity.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🔥 One of my favorite places in Provo. The BYU Museum of Art is honestly a peaceful and inspiring space, and every time I visit, I leave feeling recharged. The exhibits are always a great mix—some classic, some bold and modern, and some that really make you stop and think. The lighting and color exhibit in the main entry is stunning, and everything is displayed in a way that feels intentional and calming. Some highlights from my recent visit: the iconic LOVE sculpture, the powerful “Christ Healing the Sick at Bethesda” painting, and the playful (and kind of thought-provoking) “China-McDonald” piece. The whole place has this quiet energy that’s both creative and reverent. Whether you’re into art or just need a beautiful place to slow down for a bit, MOA is a gem. And it’s free, which makes it even better.
Jason F — Google review
I edit this post every few months to add photos—check out the most recent!! Definitely a place worth visiting if you are in the area. The presentation (lighting and spacial placement) in this museum was very well done. The pieces themselves were obviously quite stunning and the location was really easy to access. The Spanish Exhibit is going on now! Highly recommend!!
Rachel S — Google review
My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed this museum. The pictures of Christ were our favorites, but their pop culture exhibit was fun too. It's not crowded either people-wise or art-wise which makes for a calming experience. Their gift shop is cute and has lots to choose from but feels a little bit cramped. I would highly recommend visiting. Especially since it's free!
K W — Google review
Love their public programming for families. The exhibits are also stunning. One of Utah’s gems even if you’re not Mormon.
Amy M — Google review
Amazing exhibition and permanent collection, top-notch among university museums, free admission!
Steve F — Google review
Great museum! I went for a class project but they have some really good pieces of art. I look at one for my class that showed the story of Jesus and Peter walking on water so that was really cool
Xavier R — Google review
This is probably the most interesting museum I’ve ever visited! There weren’t many visitors when I arrived, so I was able to take my time navigating the museum. Both entrance and parking is free but you’ll need to enter through one of the campus entrances. The exhibits were eye catching, interesting and educational. I highly recommend!

Science museum
Nestled within the Brigham Young University campus in Provo, Utah, the Monte L. Bean Life Science Museum is a treasure trove for nature lovers and curious minds alike. Since its inception in 1978 and subsequent expansion in 2014, this museum boasts an impressive collection of over 2.8 million specimens that span various ecosystems.
I did not have much expectations for this place, with it being free. I was pleasantly surprised! There is lots to see and discover. The museum is fairly large, very well kept, and helpful staff. If you’re looking for an interesting, educational thing to do with your children without spending a fortune, this is a great option!

Such a cool FREE way to entertain kiddos (fun for adult animal lovers too!) It's also been redone, it's not the same as its old 70's look, beautiful building! I like that the animals are stationary too, the zoo you pay a bunch and often can't see the animals well. Super cool byu does this for free thank you!! There's a fun slide and bus exhibit too which our kiddo loved. I loved the gospel messages scattered throughout the museum too! There's a cool story time area to the left as you enter that I want to bring our kiddo back I think it said Tu Th
Drew H — Google review
What an incredible free experience. This museum is really awesome, and really informative. The conservation efforts are really awesome, and they have a really cool auditorium for presentations. All the taxidermy on the animals was done really well. My favorite part was the Boyd K Packer room.
Brayden W — Google review
The Bean Life Science Museum is a hidden gem located on the campus of BYU, and it's free and family friendly. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with displays of mounted animals, including an elephant and two giraffes. The museum features an huge collection of taxidermied animals and birds from around the world. There are also displays of insects and fish etc. The displays are well-maintained, combining information with engaging visuals. Kids and adults a like love the interactive exhibits. The museum is clean, spacious, and stroller-friendly, making it ideal for families. There’s also a small gift shop near the entrance with science-themed toys, books, and souvenirs. Free Parking is available, you just need to register your car with the person at the front desk.
Lorraine M — Google review
Didn’t expect this inside BYU. There is a section even for human evolution. Great stuff, hats off. Enjoyed the two hours visit very much.
Omae S — Google review
What a fun museum for adults and kids. If you love animals, you will love this! I never knew there were so many duck and geese species until visiting here. Its free!!!!
Jeaneal B — Google review
Way bigger than I expected. 3 floors of well-curated animals and exhibits. Clean. Free. Get a parking pass from the front desk.
Brent — Google review
This museum is decently fun! Wide variety of animals to see and appreciate that it is free. However, the kids play area I think should have age recommendations. While an inviting tree nest and slide screams toddler play area, there is a small tunnel at the back with a terrifying bear inside. It is markedly different from the other bears with pleasant faces on display in the musuem, it has bulging eyes and bared teeth. The entrance to the tunnel is toddler sized, kids who can’t read would use it, there is one sign with small lettering about there being a bear inside. Why make the fun kids area terrifying? Genuine question. If it is going to have something scary and in the dark, why not make it age appropriate for bigger kids who can read and not be scared of that?

Croquet club
Provo Beach is a massive 50,000 square feet amusement center located in Provo, offering an array of exciting activities for visitors. From bowling and indoor surfing to laser tag and an indoor ropes course, there's no shortage of fun here. The main attraction is the Flowrider, providing a realistic surfing experience in a controlled environment. Families can also enjoy arcade games, carousel rides, and exploring the Mega Playground.
For $25 you have unlimited bowling, croquet, laser tag, rope course, carousel, etc. It also has an arcade. For $10 /hr you can add the wave pool for surfing and boogie boards. Great for all ages. They also have birthday party packages. The staff is fabulous and it is really clean. There is also a food option for ice cream, etc. that is reasonable.
Greta C — Google review
Lots of great activities with the all inclusive pass. The Black Friday deal is amazing. Everything is high quality, modern and nice. There’s flow rider, a ropes course, bowling, laser tag, mini croquet, a carousel, and arcade. They also have both large and small play structures. I was unimpressed with the cleanliness of the play structures. They were both obviously not cleaned recently and covered in dust. It actually felt kind of gross and not on par with the other activities. I also felt like most employees did an ok job but there weren’t any crowds, so a good amount were just wandering around doing nothing, even though stations were unmanned. Monday night was crowd free and a great time to go.
Holly B — Google review
We came here for the first time, to attend a birthday party. Such a fun place to go, we will be returning with the family. There are so many options, for all ages! There are super nice bowling lanes, a kid playground, ropes course, mini golf, arcade games, and of course the wave runner! Great place to go have a fun experience.
Hannah L — Google review
We had such a fun date! Pretty sure the laser tag was broken though — my husband won twice, which clearly defies all logic 😜 I especially loved the surfing — it was a blast. The staff were all super friendly, and everything looked clean, new, and well taken care of.
Diana R — Google review
Staff was nice and friendly, but everything else about this place outside flowriders is pretty "blah". Bowling very outdated, equipment breaking down(people asked to change lanes), games feel very overpriced, underwhelming for the prizes being rewarded at the ticket cash in. Wouldn't recommend, nor return for a second time.
Victor D — Google review
I took my grandson there not knowing what to expect as we've never been there before and he loved everything about it! Unfortunately we didn't bring our bowling ball/shoes or his swim trunks so we didn't do the surfing thing or bowling but he had a blast. We opted for the $25.00 all day pass and the price was reasonable for everything there to do! We're already planning our next visit!
Brenda C — Google review
We had my sons birthday party here. The party room left more to be desired, not decorated at all, but the pizza that came with it was tasty. The Arcade is AWESOME! It is fun for all ages. The ticket redeeming station is pretty sad. The bowling is fun, we all enjoyed it. The Lazer tag was FABULOUS! We absolutely loved it. All in all, we will for sure be doing more parties here.
Joe S — Google review
We took advantage of the black Friday deal in November. We redeemed our tickets this week, and the kids loved it! They all said that they would like to return, and we will. A few helpful hints with laser tag: walk up the stairs and along the bowling alley lanes. The line to wait is at the far door in the back. If nobody is there to let you in, stay put. Just watch the time on the screen. Once the time is up, someone will come to let you into the arena. The arena can accommodate a large group (maybe 20?) at a time, so even if the line seems long, it will go fast.

Nestled in the heart of Provo, the Provo Pioneer Village is a captivating living-history museum that invites visitors to journey back to the days of early settlers. This enchanting village features an array of meticulously preserved wooden buildings and artifacts that tell the story of pioneer life. Run by dedicated volunteers, guests can witness traditional crafts such as blacksmithing, woodworking, and quilting firsthand.
Amazing history in the heart of Provo! Free to visit with donations welcome. Very knowledgeable staff/volunteers who wear period pieces which adds to the experience. Would highly recommend for all ages to learn about the history on Utah!
Miranda P — Google review
Amazing beautiful place to bring your family or also I guess a date. It's free and you have the option to donate, and they do have limited days/times to come visit. You get to see the lifestyle of the pioneers. And if you bring kids they have games, clothes to dress them up, and a school house for them. They do have a gift shop but they only accept cash or venmo. Will be coming back here more.
Jared — Google review
There was a cute scavenger hunt and a bunch of sweet ladies teaching you about pioneer life! Free entree and tons of things to see! Definitely recommend!!!! Good and easy parking and clean bathrooms ☺
Erin B — Google review
This little heritage village is a hidden gem. The old cabins, blacksmith shop, and gardens make you feel like you’ve stepped back into pioneer times. The volunteers are great at telling stories, and it’s a really fun way to learn history. Quiet, charming, and especially good for families with kids.
Cole N — Google review
While visiting Provo, this was a big highlight of my adventure. The village looks plucked out of the past and the volunteers there are so sweet. My friend and I really enjoyed walking around, taking pictures, and learning about the history!
Kira A — Google review
Places like this are why people think Utah is weird. How am I suppose to explain to people out of state that I live closer to a 19th century pioneer village than a grocery store. If you have an afternoon to kill and feel like speed running contracting lice, perhaps stop by and try on a bonnet while you think about how you should’ve never put that dusty piece of pioneer candy in your mouth.
Bridger H — Google review
Simple, authentic, and free. The hours are limited but predictable. My kids enjoyed the object search. It seems like it is probably volunteer driven and they're doing a great job.
Dallin K — Google review
This interesting, free historical park has costumed interpreters. There are free games and activities. It was a pleasant place to visit. Our young children were finished exploring in about 30 minutes but they had lots of questions and it definitely made them think. We have returned to Provo Pioneer Village for the autumn and Christmas festivals. The volunteers are wonderful and my family enjoys it every time. It is small and quiet but a lovely place to be.

Waterfall
Nature & Parks
Bridal Veil Falls is a scenic waterfall located close to U.S. route 189 with a paved trail and picnic area equipped with tables. The falls are accompanied by frozen sections that enhance its beauty making it an ideal spot for sightseeing. It provides an opportunity for a short hike along the river, showcasing a series of waterfalls providing picturesque views.
Took my teenage granddaughters to this free experience. Of course, they wanted to climb up to get close in personal with the falls at the top. I figured there was an easier way to get there than straight up the waterfall. But that is the path they took. And I figured I needed to stay with them. It was not a super easy route, but I am in my 60s and I made it and lived to tell about it. On the way down, I found the proper trail That zigzags at a much better grade to the top. That trail starts at the bottom, right near the bridge from the parking lot. I highly recommend going that route. I also do not suggest hiking up on icy days. It was June when we made the trek That said, the falls are gorgeous. My granddaughters are from out of town and said this was one of their favorite hikes. They loved the waterfalls and spent considerable time, taking photos and selfies at the top and enjoying the vistas. There are some wading pools at the bottom where younger children—with supervision—can get their feet wet while those more venturous can hike to the top.
Paul N — Google review
This was a great hike up to the fall. You can see them from the bottom without much of a hike, but we took the actual trail up further to get better pictures and it was just enough to get your blood pumping, but it wasn’t too tough. Two seniors and an asthmatic managed without issues.
Sailormoongirl323 — Google review
I was recommended this place by a local. At the water falls base is a kid friendly basin that holds the water before it enters the river: couple feet deep. For hikers: there are a couple ways to get up to the lookout. Up the river, and the two unpaved, rocky paths that starts from the path to the base of the river. I’d recommend the “hard path” for more experienced hikers and the “easy path” for everyone else willing to walk across some relatively vertical and shaky spots. Having a hard time finding the “easy path”? Go back down and look for the diverge to the left: it is easy to miss. When you make it you will be rewarded with a gorgeous and comfortable view, sparkling clear water and some clay. Overall, pretty quick hikes (maybe 15 mins?).
Miki K — Google review
We love riding bikes on the Provo River Trail through Provo Canyon. You have to dismount by Bridal Veil Falls and walk through the crowds before you can mount bikes and ride again, but the stop to look at the falls is always spectacular no matter what season of the year.
Stephanie A — Google review
Walk and roll, disabled veterans use this trail for wheelchairs. We love it, paved, with good parking, enough restrooms, just a nice trail for all abilities
William C — Google review
Such a beautiful place to visit with a wonderful, paved walking trail and lots of shade. Keep in mind that there is no shade directly at the base of the falls and it can get hot and crowded. I hope they clean things up around the base of the falls soon. There has been what looks like a makeshift bridge there for a while. It makes things look half baked, messy, not ready to make a great impression for visitors. If I came from out of town, I'd feel a bit let down. What can the community do to help?
Christie A — Google review
Parking areas are under construction. Still easy access. W PAVED Walking trail is well main maintained. Great canyon views. Fall colors in season. River acces. Watch out for cyclists.

Utah Lake State Park is a vast nature reserve that features Utah's largest freshwater lake. The park offers various recreational activities such as fishing, boating, and camping. It is an ideal place for families and friends to enjoy the water and have fun with different water sports like jet-skiing or bringing their own boat. Besides, there are numerous picnic spots available with ample parking space as well as RV stations for RV drivers.
Visited Utah Lake State Park in late April and had an amazing experience! The views were stunning — especially in the late spring when the skies are clear and the weather is just right. The mountains in the background with the lake in front make for some incredible photo opportunities. Parking was plentiful, which made it super convenient even on a busy weekend. The entry fee is $20 per vehicle or $5 for pedestrians, which felt fair considering all the amenities the park offers. This spot is great for fishing — we saw quite a few people casting lines from the docks and shoreline. There’s also a lot of open space for camping and picnicking, with shaded areas and tables that are perfect for families or groups. Whether you want to relax by the water or have a full picnic setup, there’s room for it all. Water sports are definitely a highlight here. People were out boating, kayaking, and jet skiing — it’s clearly a popular spot for lake activities once the weather starts to warm up.
Manish K — Google review
Such a fun place for the family. Whether you’re launching the boat or just wanna go to a really cool park. Or fishing or birdwatching it’s just a genuinely cool place. We don’t have a boat, but we go at night to go fishing and we go during the day for the kids to play on the park and have a little barbecue Depending on the time of year, there are bugs, but bug spray takes care of them. They stop allowing people to enter at 10 PM but if you’re already in, they will allow you to stay and fish throughout the night
Court L — Google review
We got here early (8am) on the 24th and it wasn’t crowded at all- we had our pick of the place! It was getting busier when we left around 3pm. Bring shade, chairs, and paddle boards for a great time! There were a ton of mayflies, and when I say a ton, I mean like clouds from The Mummy (you know that scene where he “eats” the plane as a sandstorm? Like that). We had to beat about a hundred of them off our chairs before sitting, couldn’t leave the food open, obviously. That was the biggest downside. No mosquitoes that I saw. There’s shaded pavilions and unshaded picnic tables. People were being respectful.
Sheri M — Google review
Best kept secret in Utah Valley! Beautiful spot to enjoy nature. Hike along the Provo River estuary, watch the ducks, geese, and pelicans looking for food in the water, and watch the sunset. 5-6 boat ramps and plenty of parking for trucks and trailers. Opportunities to boat, kayak, sail, fish, and all water sports.
Kent M — Google review
We had a great time with the family! We also could bring our dog! The day was perfect for us. We played at the beach for kids, we had a picnic under shade trees and some of us fished all day.
Audrey L — Google review
Great small campground with both back in and pull through sites. All sites have water and electricity (30amp). Sites are paved with a picnic table and shade pergola over the table. Each campsite also has a firepit and a nice grassy area. The day use area of the state park has a beach, picnic area, large kids playground. The marina has boat launch ramps and curticy docks. Lots of places to fish from the shore.
Joseph S — Google review
Delightfully scenic and quiet, yet close enough to civilization. $50 a night, limit of 14 days in a row. Watch the site widths on the website. There are some 20 ft and some 10 ft wide.
G&C E — Google review
I went for my birthday after seeing some ads that Utah lake was nicer now. It would’ve been ok if there hadn’t been so many stinking mosquitos! I have never seen so many in my entire life. My wife and I went early in the morning to go fishing and had 0 luck but the guy next to us pulled out an almost 13 lb catfish. Overall the mosquitos just made it unenjoyable and it was pretty expensive to bring a vehicle in ($20). My wife and I just make the trip to strawberry now, the fishing is much better and there are less mosquitos. It could’ve just been the one spot we were at but either way, WAY too many mosquitos.

Covey Center for the Arts is a performance facility that boasts an auditorium, experimental theater space, art galleries and dance studios. The center has exceptional acoustics and cleanliness which make it an ideal venue for various events. Additionally, there is a nice collection of pianos located on both floors. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the center's purpose, as well as upcoming performances. Hopefully, future construction will enhance accessibility to parking for patrons who visit this arts theater.
I attended a concert with a band who played Elvis Presley music. They were talented young men. I very much appreciated the experience. I was able to go back in time (metaphorically) and see my son and his friends playing for a competition. I felt the same pride watching and listening to such hard work come to fruition.

Great, modestly sized stage, with great technical support and lighting. I've seen many productions here and really enjoyed them all! The visuals always impress me. Even for relatively small shows, they have lights and videos that go so well with the music and performances.

My daughter has had her dance recital here the last four years and we have loved it! Buying tickets online is quick and easy and being seated is similar. Seats are normal (though an older person behind me complained about them, just fyi?) and there is floor and balcony seating options, though I have never sat in the balcony section before so I can't say much about that. Overall great experience!

This is a really cool performing art center in downtown Provo, Utah! I really like the seating and the location. Parking can be somewhat tricky but there is a huge gravel parking lot next to the facility! The stage is huge and they can remove the stage to expose an orchestra pit. Nice big auditorium and stage with nice bathrooms. 👌

Went and saw the Lamb of God here. The sound quality and acoustics were great. The seats were good no matter where you sat. There is great artwork in the lobby. The parking is also very easy and accessible.

We've always had a great time here! We've been to many many shows here, to watch my husband play in Ryan Shupe and the RubberBand. We've also seen Tedx talks, the Utah Valley Symphony, etc., and this venue can handle it all. The concert hall is a good size... not too big and not too small. There are drinking fountains, and a nice restroom that stays nice and clean. There is always an art show of some kind happening in the foyer and side room. At the most recent show we attended, they brought in superheroes so that the kids could have their picture taken with them. Great idea! No food or drink is allowed in the concert hall but you are allowed to bring in bottled water. No food is sold inside the building. There are couches in the foyers that are nice to use in the case of a restless kid or something. We'll be back to this venue again soon I'm sure!

What a great concert and excellent facilities to share and get involved in the arts and their beauty. The Covey Center for the Arts at UVU in Orem is an absolute gem! As someone who loves the arts and appreciates quality performances, I cannot recommend this venue highly enough. From their international performances to their incredible staff and student performances in various art forms, the Covey Center truly has it all. The center's international performances are a highlight for me. I have seen some truly breathtaking shows from performers all around the world, showcasing their unique cultural traditions and talents. From the captivating dances of India to the soaring voices of European opera singers, I have been blown away by the talent on display at the Covey Center. But the center's local talent is just as impressive. The staff and students at the Covey Center are incredibly talented and dedicated, and their performances are always top-notch. From theater productions to musical concerts to art exhibits, there is always something exciting happening at the Covey Center. I must also mention the staff at the Covey Center. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure a great experience for their patrons. Whether you're a seasoned theater-goer or a newcomer to the arts, the staff will make you feel welcome and ensure that you have a fantastic time. Overall, I cannot recommend the Covey Center for the Arts enough. It is truly a cultural treasure in the heart of Orem, and I will continue to be a loyal patron for years to come. Five stars all around!

Yesterday I truly enjoyed the performance of the Nutcracker! It was magical and the orchestra was perfect! All of the dancers are very talented and clearly have been working very hard to give a fantastic show. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. Sorry, but I did take a few pictures, because I never want to forget this day.

It is a student-run museum aimed at providing educational experiences for both the public and the BYU community. The museum features diverse displays representing different peoples and cultures from around the world. With its ever-changing exhibits, it caters to visitors of all ages and interests.
This was a nice little museum. We were able to just look around. There was no one else there when we went. They have wheelchair accessible doors and a couple hands on exhibits that are fun for kids. There's also a drinking fountain and bathroom in the back. It's pretty small as far as museums go, but has some fun local history.

Well, I would really love to actually review this. Unfortunately, as a visitor from Washington State with my kids I was greatly disappointed to discover that there was no visitor parking available for us to use. We would have loved to go here, but parking around BYU is already a nightmare. Having a visitor lot would have made it accessible for me and for any other distant visitors that may want to go here. I'm leaving the same review for the Paleontology Museum. Get better!

This museum wasn't really my thing and maybe that's why it wasn't that captivating. It was clean, well taken care of and free though

This museum is a spare 4 rooms, but it nonetheless packs a real punch. As a regular museum goer, I am always appreciative when I see and learn something new. For me, these stick dice were new and very cool. Also a big fan of these beautiful stamps. And the sheep horn—super to see that! Thanks for a fun stop—anticipate about an hour.

Small but mighty! Absolutely stunning, respectful, global, and local collection. This museum is curated by the students! If you are interested in First People's culture and lives, take the 1-2 hrs and visit! Make a donation to keep museums like this going!

This was a super cool museum! It’s free and it was a nice walk through experience. It’s a small room but it has cool artifacts and explanation from a lot of different cultures. It was much worth going!!!!
Caylor H — Google review
This is a tiny museum - an hour would be the max you would probably spend. That said - it was interesting, well organized and had a nice variety of displays. They were at different heights, which preschoolers enjoyed, and many had interactive features. There was a concept puzzle teaching children that not all pottery in archaeology will be complete, bead work, building pots with rings and coloring on pots with chalk. The section I described above was about an archaeological site in Mexico. The second section when we attended was about shoes. Both sections were fresh and creative in their approach, and informative about the topic, inviting viewers to connect on a variety of ways. The shoe display suggested building your own shoes and sharing them online to win prizes. I realize not everyone liked this museum but on this rainy day it was a fresh, fun spot to visit.

If you're looking for a splash-tastic adventure in Provo, look no further than Seven Peaks Water Park! Spanning 26 acres, this vibrant water park is the ultimate summer destination. Thrill-seekers can conquer exhilarating waterslides that promise to get your heart racing. For those who prefer a more leisurely experience, the wave pool and lazy river offer perfect spots to relax and unwind. Families will appreciate the shallow play area designed just for little ones, ensuring everyone has a blast.
My kids and I love this place. We have been becoming here for the last 7 years every summer instead of Cowabunga Bay and Lagoon. It's more affordable and fun if you go early and get a seasons pass. I'm surprised there's less good reviews but that's ok that makes the place less crowded!
C P — Google review
Closed a ride 8 minutes before it was supposed to. Me and my friend wanted to ride the orange ride called “free fall” and some lifeguard in yellow that sounded like a girl but might have been a boy after we just wanted to ride the ride one last time threatened to take our season passes even though we didn’t have any. Not even kidding argued for a minute for being 5 seconds late and forced us off the ride leaving us without the rest of our friends. felt totally betrayed and i want my money back. Took an hour to get in because there were only 2 people that were at the front gate. The only part about it that was good was another lifeguard that was super chill named Kai.
O-Man — Google review
BUSY I guess it is not a bad thing because at least they can stay in business but there were so many people. This made the line long. I timed the slides and they ranged from 40 minutes for the “orange” bowl slide to 8 minutes for the classic five lane race slide. Purple and blue slides were around 20 minutes each. Best ride or at least the most enjoyable ride for me was the Purple slide (for whatever that is worth to you) Actually, the best water activity overall is the wave pool. Super packed but it was still really fun. Should have stayed there instead of sanding in long lines or waiting for a tube. Speaking of tubes. We paid for the tube rentals ($6 a person) and I am an honest person so I will still pay for the rentals but nobody ever checked if we had a wristband. I saw a lot of tube users without one. The food is not too pricey. The changing room is really just a bathroom. The lazy river is great with a good current though no shade. There is a lot of grass areas to leave your stuff at but if you are there for the whole day I would suggest you bring some shade device. The water was clean. The staff was friendly when you spoke with them and they seemed to be really attentive at the pool. So why three stars? The lines and the changing rooms. If you count the slides I was able to get in and add in the wave pool moments it averages out to $4.60 an actually activity. Your mileage may vary
Admiral S — Google review
Staff were curt. Lifeguards seemed like they didnt want to be there. Lines have been inconceivably long the two times ive gone, so going on big slides takes 30 minutes or more of standing in a line, shivering from the wind on your wet skin. The two things you can always do are the wave pool and the lazy river, but those still get crowded. I had teenagers splashing me, bumping into me, and having no regard for their surroundings. I hope they had more fun than I did.
Nathan C — Google review
We had fun (visiting for the first time). The lazy River was awesome. The slides looked fun. The kids area needed some love. It looked like it might have been updated a couple years ago. Might need a face lift or two. The wave pool was the most disappointing. It made waves for ten minutes and then you had to wait fifteen minutes for them to start again. Seems kind of silly to have to wait so long for waves that only last for so little time. We had fun and won't return to this location. Maybe salt lake has a better one.

Great place to take kids and adults as well. Lots of things everyone can enjoy. The food was decent but you can take your food too.

Nestled within the vibrant campus of Brigham Young University, the BYU Museum of Paleontology is a treasure trove for anyone fascinated by prehistoric life. Established in 1976, this charming museum showcases an impressive collection of rock and dinosaur fossils meticulously gathered by Dr. James A. Jensen and his teams from various states including Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana over several decades.
Free admission is a great perk, but my kids definitely had lots of fun putting coins in the donation glass box and watching them fall too. It was lovely on a Tuesday afternoon! Barely anyone else there and toddlers and young children had such a good time learning about dinosaurs! At the end of our visit, around 3:30 a group of paleontologists came in and there’s a glass window with a step so you can watch them work! Very very cool.
Olivia B — Google review
The Museum of Paleontology at Brigham Young University is a very well curated museum. Great lighting, display angles, groupings and decor all create an enjoyable experience for patrons. The staff here should be proud of this show-piece, as well as the ongoing commitment to research here at BYU. Well done, KUDOS!!!

This is a great place to visit if you are into dinosaurs, paleontology, fossils. Very impressed and we were at 2 previous places in Utah prior to this one. Had some fossils for sale in vending machine. Had several "touchable" items clearly marked. Worth the stop.

Our kids had such a great experience. Very informative experience.

This is a fun little museum. It says student parking, but there are about 4 museum parking spots. It's usually pretty empty and self guided. Recently when we've gone parts of the museum have been closed off, but it's still worth a quick visit if you're in the area. It's free.
Ariel L — Google review
This museum is curated very well and is well worth the visit. It is unique in the fact that it focuses on fossils and ancient life found specifically in North America, and many are from Utah. I only saw two or three fossils that weren't found in North America, so I felt it made it more real for me knowing what dinosaurs actually lived where I "roam." I gave it 4 stars because it was rather small, which I wasn't expecting because the building itself is quite large. Having said that, it is a research laboratory, as well, which I assume is what the extra space is used for. Also, be forewarned that there are not a lot of hands-on things for little children, to be fair their are things for them to touch it is just not as easy to find those things as you would hope. So although my 4-5 year old really enjoyed looking, it wasn't as easy to not touch it. 😉
Anna D — Google review
This museum isn’t too large but it is really cool. Entrance is free and they have several unique Utah dinosaurs on display. They have several replicas that are available to touch and feel (great for little kids) as well as real bones behind glass. They have full skeleton replicas that are great for pictures. This is a working museum. There is a large glass window where you can see into the workshop. We talked with one of the employees who works as a paleontologist which was very interesting!! This is a great activity.

While the lack of shade and locked bathrooms are drawbacks, the park offers diverse play equipment suitable for various age groups. Visitors appreciate its proximity to amenities like libraries and restaurants. However, some have noted issues with drainage and unpleasant smells in certain areas of the park.
Awesome park, plenty of space for your little ones to go run around, full of so many unique and engaging pieces of play equipment. After taking my little ones here, I've convinced them that I'm the best dad ever!

Great park with bathrooms, swings, drinking fountains, lots of parking, slides, merigoround, zip line. The park is totally fenced in so children can’t escape! One way in and out. There is a separate smaller park for younger toddlers. The park is large and fun for the kids to explore. Certainly worth a visit.

We came for the PBS Neighbor Day with Daniel Tiger! The playground was fun and the whole park is great!
Jill L — Google review
Overall a very cute park, pros there is One entrance one exit, they have swings & slides, hiding spots under the play area, tunnels and toddler friendly, they also have a little table to eat at or play a game of cards in the play area. Cons there is no shade & the ground gets very hot and so do the slides. So make sure you are prepared for that when you visit. The bathroom is close by and there is plenty of parking.
Alyssa S — Google review
Rating this park is difficult because it's so phenomenal in many ways, but there is also large room. For improvement. As far as size, quality, and variety of playground equipment, there are many parks that can compare. They have a truly extensive selection of equipment, with large boardwalks and many interactive area. It also does a good job creating a strong divide between the older kid and toddler sections. My main issues are mostly maintenance and upkeep. There are a lot of interactive pieces that I think are supposed to simulate musical instruments, but they've always been too broken to tell. There's also a spot with animal sounds not working. The cleanliness is a little rough as well. Another huge point in favor for this place is how friendly it is to disabled and handicapped individuals. They have a merry-go-round with a little gate you can open up to park a wheelchair in it, as well as a swing for wheelchairs. The whole thing is also pretty much completely flat with lots of ramps on the boardwalk areas.
Logan J — Google review
Fun park, but geard towards little toddlers. My 11 & 12 year olds got a little bored. The metal sculpture in the front is really cool though.
CkDesignz K — Google review
This park was is so fun. Seeing it from construction to finished product was awesome. Lots of recent history with this park. The playground is awesome. The ground materials are really interesting. Good for a park. But it seems like in some spaces they don’t drain very well and it has some unpleasant smells. 1 ⭐️👎The bathrooms are in sub par conditions. Not working or leaking sewage in the floor. Poor sink design.

Super duper good place to go to. I have a 4 and 7 year old and come here once a month for the last few years. I usually put 15 bucks on the each kids card and that’s perfect for them to get like 1500 tickets. My kids love this place. We have visited every nickel arcade in utah and SLC county and they like this one the best. Pros: -games are never down - never a large line to redeem tickets -bathroom is always clean -parking is always available -almost kinda crowded but not too much( my kids want it kinda crowded) Cons: It’s kinda far from my house. But ya, this one is a winner. I highly recommend. PS: this place is popular for dates or at least I see people on dates on the time.

Who needs couples therapy when you have Nickel City? This place didn’t just save my marriage—it supercharged it. Nothing says “eternal love” like an intense game of air hockey and a shared basket of stale nachos. And if that wasn’t enough, I had my first-ever kiss right here, next to the glow of the Deal or No Deal machine. Who made it all possible? The legendary employees of Nickel City. Every single one of them. I don’t know if they slipped some kind of love potion into my cup of tokens or if the romantic energy of the arcade just worked its magic, but here I am—forever changed. Thank you, Nickel City. Thank you, Palmer and the entire Nickel City dream team. My heart, my marriage, and my high scores will never be the same.

Located in the vibrant cities of Provo and Orem, just 40 miles south of Salt Lake City, the Provo Recreation Center stands out as a top-notch facility offering an array of recreational activities. This award-winning center boasts impressive indoor and outdoor pools, pickleball courts, bouldering walls, exercise classes, and more. Visitors can enjoy the expansive outdoor pool along with various indoor pool options including a relaxing lazy river pool and hot tub.
We love the Provo Recreation Center. It has a great indoor pool for the cold months, and the outdoor pool is excellent with plenty of grass space to lay out blankets and coolers. The basketball courts see a lot of games in the early mornings and evenings if you want to play pickup. The pickleball courts are set up inside and outside at certain times. The app is so easy to use and schedule classes. It's very clean, plenty of equipment and even has a fun indoor play area in the cold months which is free to use (no pass required).

Seriously, we have so much fun here! We don’t live in Utah, but we visit Provo Rec every time we come into Utah to see family!! This time the outdoor slides and wave pool were completed and up and running!!! Indoors they have a floating river, rock climbing, lap swimming, hot tub, kiddie play pool, dive pool, instruction pool. Outdoors they have a covered area (thank you!!), wave pool, water slides and another kiddie play pool. There are so many youth lifeguards, you’ll be safe no matter where you go! The changing room is for families… with private rooms for showering, changing and using the toilet. If you need a lock for your locker, they will be happy to provide you one in exchange for your license. I haven’t mentioned the gym… because I didn’t look around up there, but my teen boys loved it. Also basketball courts… and much more. For only $5.50 for the day!!!
MJ M — Google review
This place is so rad and has something for everyone. My kids spent hours swimming. I saw several parents who had their kids swimming and they went to work out. There’s open gym hours for all sorts of different sports. I wish we had something like this where I live. It’s open to residents and nonresident.

Beautiful rec center! We utilize the pool and kids area. Silver sneaker program and community classes are really fun. Our whole family from grandparents to kids always have something fun to do.
Julia H — Google review
Great access to sport courts, weights, pool. Pricing is reasonable. Weight machines can get a little busy during peak hours but that’s every gym. Overall a very good facility especially in comparison to some of the older rec centers in Utah valley.
Garrett G — Google review
Great rec center with lots of equipment, indoor track, exercise classes, childcare for young kids, indoor playground that is open to the public only during specific hours, indoor and outdoor pools, and an indoor competition pool, billiard tables, indoor basketball courts, racquetball courts, and outdoor skate/skateboard park. There is something for everyone! My kids love the indoor playground and indoor pool. The indoor pool has a hot tub (only for 15 years and older), lazy river, pool that is 3-4 feet deep, climbing walls over a pole, and a water play place. There are two large indoor slides but they aren't always running. I personally did not have great experiences with the childcare center when I tried it. I've known people who had good experiences with it. 9 out of 10 of my experiences with indoor swimming lessons for my kids were satisfactory to quite good. The 1 out of 10 was terrible (my child in the youngest child group nearly drowned while the teacher had her back turned to the group while she taught one child. I yelled to get the teacher's attention while the lifeguard watching the pool did nothing. The head lifeguard was very apologetic afterward. I was constantly vigilant watching all my kids swimming lessons after that.). So I'd say the swimming lessons are likely going to be fine, but be watching if you have young kids taking lessons for their safety because there is not great supervision.

Listen, my experience with Provo Recreation has been largely positive after playing in intramural volleyball leagues for the better part of the past 10 years. The refs this year were, for the most part, excellent. You know who you are. Thanks for all the fun, guys. We sure had a good time. This review is actually for the team "Big Dig Energy" in the A division of the fall women's volleyball league 2025 and their extreme display of small dig energy, if you get my vibe. Girls, we get it. Losing is hard and grown adult women complaining is just so easy but honestly a little tired. A natural reflex even to whatever unearned sense of entitlement and privilege you all seem to have been born with. Ugh, may that condition never find me, and may the universe bring you all the same type of energy you put out there in return. Hope your bra straps always dig in, hope your pants are too tight, and maybe you get diarrhea at the absolute worst time with nary a bathroom in sight. Every time you stub your toe, break a nail, or get cut off in traffic, consider it a little wink from us because what goes around, sure comes around in the end. Special shoutout to Rylan and Mele with Provo Rec., you sure did your best.
Kalli V — Google review
This rec center has it all! I'm not a Provo resident but I felt it was worth the fee to buy a non-resident pass for all the amenities that are included. The triple play pass includes discounts at the Provo municipal golf course and skating rink as well as access to classes and programs at the rec center. There is a fine aquatics program, cardio and aerobic areas and classes, an indoor track, several pools, lazy river, pickle ball court, tennis courts, racketball and handball, basketball, billiards, ping pong, and senior fitness classes. You name it, it's got it. The Provo Senior Center is also part of the complex and seniors can buy a discounted pass to access all kinds of programming for their interests and needs as well.

Ice skating rink
Recreation center
Peaks Ice Arena is a fantastic destination for ice skating enthusiasts and sports lovers alike, nestled in the scenic backdrop of the Wasatch Mountains. Originally built for the 2002 Winter Olympics, this expansive facility features a large rink that caters to both novice skaters and seasoned pros looking to refine their skills. Visitors can enjoy public skating sessions almost daily, making it an affordable and enjoyable activity while exploring Provo.
THE place for ice skating in Utah County. Nice staff. Nice programs to learn to skate.

I've been playing soccer here for several sessions (8 games per session, about once weekly, same day). It's a pretty good league. The competition level has been pretty wildly different each session. We won a session, then came in second, moved up one league and got annihilated, moved back down and have barely won a single game. Seems a common issue around most leagues. Not sure how they determine teams in each league. The field is fun. Good size for being able take good runs and full kicks...a whole lot better than the new fields at Timpanogos if you ask me. There is out-of-bounds on this indoor field. So plays a bit more like traditional soccer, but small enough it's 6v6 (including keeper). There are a couplenrough spots on the field, full seams that run the entire width. Would be really nice if those were fixed. I haven't done any other activities here. There's always some hockey camps/training and then games going on. A gym is available. Honestly not sure what the rest of the building is used for. Apparently it's going to be closed and refurbed soon for upcoming Winter Olympics. I'm leaving four stars because while I enjoy playing, there isn't any special draw for me to this field and the imperfections are pretty bad on the field. At the same time, I expect to keep playing. It's just what's available nearby now that Timpanogos turned into a bunch of 10 year old practice fields.

Super nice facility. The north ice has great seating to watch a hockey game. There are plenty of snacks available, except they don't have popcorn, which is kinda sad. Overall, love bringing my boys here for hockey!
Lafe M — Google review
Really fun and casual place to go ice skating! I recommend going during the summer or on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, as it's usually quieter those times. The prices are reasonable and there are 2 rinks so there's plenty of room for skating. This is also the Olympic rink, which I didn't know until I went!
Alora N — Google review
Very nice facility. My kids took introductory ice skating lessons here and really enjoyed it. The instructors were nice and seemed to enjoy teaching. The rental skates weren't of high quality, but they were on par with my expectations for rental skates. They have a hockey specific rink as well, along with indoor soccer fields that look pretty nice (see attached pictures).
Benjamin P — Google review
Peaks Arena is a great place for ice skaters of all levels. They have multiple ice rinks, have hockey leagues you can join, take ice skating lessons, have private parties (with a reservation), public skate times (look at their calendar), and more that I have not listed on here. Peaks Arena is fairly priced for most things and does provide skate rentals. They also have concessions if you get hungry and facilities that are clean. It's a fun time! The only thing I wish would change if they put a cap on the amount of people the allow to skate on public skate nights. It's way too crowded and dangerous. If one person falls, they more often than not create a huge pile up due to the amount of skaters allowed of all ages. That's my only recommendation. If there is a limit for the amount of people they allow on the ice at a time, it needs to be halved. People of all levels and ages on public skate nights going maybe 2mph (basically a slow walking pace in speed) due to how packed it gets just isn't worth it. My final recommendation is to provide coat racks and booths for people to put their shoes and coats in. I have had countless things stolen and destroyed because hundreds of people kids and adults come on public skate days. They trample everything with no care for people's property. This could easily be implemented as their is space. Other than that this is a great facility and can be a lot of fun depending on the time you choose to go!
Ryan H — Google review
Two skating rinks and plenty of seating areas for those not skating. Sometimes the snack shop is open, usually during the cold season. I didn’t see it open in the summer. You can rent skates for cheap. They should build more parking as sometimes it’s hard to find a place to park.
Dahlee — Google review
Nice place to come ice skate as a group. Pretty straightforward. Been here a few times and it's always consistent. I'd recommend it!

Water park
Splash Summit Waterpark, located near Brigham Young University, is a fantastic family-friendly destination with an array of attractions for all ages. From thrilling water slides to a relaxing lazy river and a high-capacity wave pool, there's something for everyone. Toddlers can have a blast at the 'Tadpole Pond' with its fun slides and floating toys. Despite occasional rain showers, visitors can take cover and quickly resume their water adventures once the weather clears up.
Had a great time with the family. Great slides and tons of lifeguards. The views are beautiful. The cabana rentals come with free food delivery which was awesome. Dole whips were awesome and the pretzels were the best I've had. Overall just a great value for the cost of things.

My husband has been taking the kids here for over a decade. It’s clean and safe and fun! Lots of areas for younger kids to play and swim safely. You can’t bring in food but there is a picnic area right up front where you can store your cooler and then go eat. They even have picnic tables there. Fun music at the wave pool creates a great atmosphere. And the mountain backdrop is GORGEOUS. They have everything’s from baby slides to some slides that are quite scary and thrilling. The lazy river I usually a little warmer which is nice. Tips: it’s expensive to get a day pass. If you think you’ll go even twice, get the season pass when it’s on sale on Black Friday or other times. You also need a pass for tubes and parking which are really cheap if you buy them with the season pass. There are options for parking for free but bring a wagon cause you’ll be hauling your stuff and walking for a while.
Vanessa B — Google review
So much fun! Great Water Park. We enjoy that the water isn't overly saturated in Chlorine. The Pizza is decent as well. We do wish they had more umbrellas, and Lounge Chairs vs the picnic tables, & Cabanas. And nobody likes to pay $10 for parking.
Myranda B — Google review
Lifetime Membership is the way to go! Parking and Tubes included! We come every Saturday open to close and being one of the first in the Park! And yes a weekday a time or two after a well planned sick day from work! 😉. Can’t wait to renew for 2026!
Mike R — Google review
2 stars would be too harsh, 4 would be stretching it. (It's probably a 3.25-3.5). We definitely had a good time, but there's a few things to note! #1 I think it's pretty expensive for what it is. You have to pay almost $30 a ticket, and on top of that if you want to ride the tube slides it's an extra $6 a person. (We didn't bite on that, the lines were ridiculously long for those slides, and we didn't think it was worth it for the money). Also, it's important to note that they absolutely do not allow food from the outside. In fact, they check everyone's bags who comes in to see if they bring food... So many families had so many snacks taken away. (But you get a pass if you have a medical exception!) This means the only food that you can eat is their overpriced and not super great food. A small burger is $8, and they don't have a great selection, so keep that in mind. (Oh and if you don't walk, parking is an extra $10. Lots of little things that add up). #2 We didn't get a tube pass but it was still super fun! They have water slides with these mats you can use, and you can also ride some slides just with your body. These lines were shorter and so it was actually really good that we didn't buy a pass! #3 It was just really crowded. I'm normally fine with somewhat crowded places, but this was almost bonkers crowded. It's like no one has anywhere else to go, and so everyone just ends up here. The wave pool and lazy river are fun until everyone and their tubes are involved and then it was really hard to swim. #4 Just a few more things to note, no cash (crazy right, for the amount of people there?) and seating is minimal so I would recommend getting there early. The lines were also crazy long and we arrived before it opened, so you should definitely buy a ticket online to bypass those lines (we did and it was much easier). Sure, hope this helps someone, because we were a bit unsure going into it and learned a few things. Still a fun day though! Would go again if it was less expensive and less crowded.
Mirah S — Google review
Splash Summit is definitely our favorite water park! They have so much to choose from! Great for all ages. The wave pool and lazy river are definitely family favorites. The food here is also really good! Just be prepared to pay extra for parking and tubes but I think it's definitely worth it overall! One bad thing is it can get too busy and lines are long.
Stephanie M — Google review
You never know with some parks and attractions, are they safe, are they clean, is it worth it? This place checks all the boxes! Showed up on a Saturday early and yes there were lots of people but there are so many rides that not one line is too long. The staff were very kind and helpful with all sorts of questions. We did a Private Cabana and it was amazing! Prime service. There are plenty of places for the kids to go and have fun, places for the parents to chill, and for the adults there are CRAZY slides. I always thought that you could only get those kind of thrills at amusement parks but this place has slides that will make your stomach DROP. So fun and totally worth it!
Evan H — Google review
Splash Summit is hands-down one of the best ways to beat the summer heat in Utah Valley! The park is super clean, well-maintained, and full of fun for all ages. From thrilling slides like Cave In and Free Fall to the lazy river and kiddie areas, there’s something for everyone. One thing I was especially impressed with was the staff—almost all young employees, and every single one we interacted with was kind, respectful, and on top of their game. Very competent human beings for their age. Kudos to their management team for allowing them to have jobs this young, and start learning how to become adults! They create such a fun and welcoming vibe throughout the park! Prices here are also very transparent—no hidden fees, and the day pass is one of the most affordable in the area for what you get. The tube policy is also really fair: free use for most slides, and renting a tube for the wave pool and some slides, is totally optional (and very reasonably priced if you do want it). As for the no outside food rule, I actually think they handle it really well. They make accommodations for families with dietary restrictions and for little kids, which I appreciate. Plus, there’s a shaded picnic area just outside the park where you can take a break and eat if you packed your own lunch. Don’t listen to those complaining about it, it’s really not a big deal, and not a money grab with all the accommodations they provide. I saw customers buying Little Caesar’s from across the street, which is smart because they are saving tons of money on food that way. All in all, Splash Summit totally exceeded our expectations. Perfect for families, teens, or anyone looking for a fun, affordable day out in the sun. We’ll definitely be coming back!

SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre is a popular amphitheater-like venue that offers outdoor film screenings and live theater performances. During the summer, visitors can enjoy affordable tickets for plays, concerts, and movies while basking in the perfect Utah weather. The venue provides a cozy atmosphere where guests can bring blankets and snacks to relax on the hillside with optimal views of the stage. Additionally, there is a disc golf course available for those seeking recreational activities.
I had a fantastic summer at the SCERA Outdoor Shell, enjoying shows like Crazy for You and Fiddler on the Roof. The concerts, especially Richard Marx and Lauren Allred, were also a highlight, creating some unforgettable nights under the stars. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy the entertainment. It’s the perfect place for making lasting memories with family and friends. Can’t wait to come back for more!

More comfortable and much better sight lines than expected! Safe, family vibe and great concessions options. Can’t wait to see future shows here.

In July 2025, we visited the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theater in Orem, Utah. I have gone to the Scera Shell Outdoor Theater before to see performances of "Fiddler on the Roof" and "Evita". These theatrical performances were great and fun to experience in the outdoors. Today, I went to the Colonial Heritage Festival, which takes place around July 4th each year. The colonial costumes and decorations were imaginative and clever. I recommend patronizing the Scera Shell Outdoor Theater for plays and the Colonial Heritage Festival to learn about history. Today has been a great day to experience the Colonial Heritage Festival.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lonestar under the stars...what more could you ask for? Tonight at the SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre felt like stepping into a country love song wrapped in mountain air and soft summer twilight. We tossed a blanket down on the grassy hillside, leaned back, and let the music roll over us like a warm breeze. Every note was crystal clear, like the soundboard was blessed by a Nashville angel. The hill sloped just right, the lights twinkled like fireflies, and somewhere between “Amazed” and “I’m Already There,” the whole crowd quietly agreed that life was pretty perfect in that moment. Staff were friendly, respectful, and somehow everywhere and nowhere at once...like concert ninjas making sure the night stayed smooth. And the whole vibe? Relaxed, joyful, easy. Like summer itself had decided to throw a party and Lonestar was the house band. The SCERA Shell isn’t just a venue...it’s an experience. It’s where you go when you want to feel music, not just hear it. It’s where your shoes come off, your heart opens up, and the stars lean in to listen. Bring your blanket. Bring your people. Leave with a story you’ll want to tell over and over. SCERA Shell, you’ve officially stolen the show…and a little piece of my heart.

I’ve been coming to their show “Dance Under the Stars” for 5 years now, and it’s always such a wonderful experience! Every performance is full of energy and talent. It’s something I look forward to every year, and I truly appreciate the effort they put into making it special. Highly recommend

Comfortable outdoor stage. We had general reserved seats, which means we had chairs already set up for us .vs bringing our own and sitting further back. Great production of Newsies!

Hiking area
Buffalo Peak Trail is a popular hiking spot in Provo, offering stunning panoramic views and diverse wildlife. The trail connects to several others, providing hikers with various options for exploration. While the drive up to the peak offers beautiful fall colors, it's important to note that the road becomes rocky and challenging. However, the hike itself is relatively short and rewards visitors with spectacular views. The area is particularly picturesque during the fall season, making it a great spot for photography enthusiasts.
This trail has some great mountain views and views of the valley. There were a lot of flowers along the trail this time of year. The path is pretty easy, just gets a little steep at the end but we did it with children just fine. There is not really any parking near the start of the trail (located just under 3 miles after the dirt road starts there’s a gap in the fence and a fire sign on the opposite side of the road from the fence) there was a pull off we parked at sort of before the trail starts. You can walk along the road or through a meadow to meet up with the trail head. I’m sure this trail would be beautiful in the fall.
Michelle O — Google review
Awesome little hike and a fun drive to get up to. The views were amazing and with all the flowers and other vegetation the air was very clean. DPS was surveying at the time of our hike and I got some cool pics of that too!
Teo S — Google review
It was a fun and beautiful hike. It was doable for the kids in our group even though it was a little steep at the end. We saw deer and lizards and lots of flowers. The dirt road to get there was very bumpy and dusty though. We told the kids it was a fun ride. 😂
Jessica B — Google review
It was so beautiful! Not very crowded! We went unaware that some of the drive would be dirt and rocks but my Elantra made it through! def worth it🤍
Aurora P — Google review
One of my favorite short hikes in Utah County. The trailhead is a little hard to find. Pull off next to the split rail fence and walk through the opening, go to the left and follow the trail. The climb isn't too step until the end. With a moderate pace, it takes about 15-20 minutes to get to the valley overlook. You'll pass through a couple of dense tree stands, a beautiful field of Wyethia (Mules Ears) wildflowers that peak in June. On either side are spectacular views of gorges and mountain fields. Bring bug spray, if you're coming in Spring especially. For a fit individual, this is an easy hike because it's so short. If you're not in shape, just take your time on the last stretch.
Dan's I — Google review
No marked trailhead that I could find, but I just followed google maps to “buffalo peak” and right before I “arrived,” there was a place to park on my left. Hike was maybe 1.5 miles total. Beautiful meadows with flowers and the last little climb was loose rock and sand. Great views from the top though, and a good little outdoor activity for me and the littles. 🙌
Maria T — Google review
Beautiful. You will need a good set of tires as you have to drive on a dirt road.

We got lost on the way back, but a lovely detour. The view was worth it. Definitely take a car that can handle rough roads and not bottom out.
