Art Museums
Museo Federico Silva is a must-visit museum showcasing the work of Federico Silva, a beloved Mexican sculptor. Housed in a 17th-century building that was once a hospital and later a school, the museum seamlessly integrates its neoclassical finish with Silva's haunting monolithic sculptures. The museum offers an excellent opportunity to appreciate the artistry of this renowned artist.
Great exposition of the Federico Silva's sculptures. The author is one of the best Mexican contemporary artists. I like all there, the modern style sculptures, how they are presented in the Museum (perfect lightning, colours environment, descriptions and visualization). The little patio inside the building is a gem of the architecture there. And particularly I loved the Silva's interpretation of Canto I, a journey into Dante's inferno. Wonderful!

I am a big fan of contemporary sculpture - this did not disappoint. Federico Silva's larger than life interpretation of Mexican traditions are fantastic. I particularly loved the journey into Dante's inferno. Wonderful!
Deanne M — Google review
A collection of large-scale works by the famous sculptor. Most of them depict abstract humans extracted from large blocks of stone and made out of geometrical shapes, mainly cubes or rectangles. Rarely will you see a curved line.
Jose I — Google review
I was stunned by those sculptures, but a bit more information would have been nice :)

Nestled in the heart of Plaza del Carmen, Nstra. Señora Del Carmen is a stunning example of Catholic Baroque architecture that captivates visitors with its rich history and artistic treasures. Construction began in 1743, culminating in its inauguration on October 15, 1764. This magnificent church boasts an impressive collection of 18th-century paintings and sculptures, alongside a breathtaking multicolored tiled dome that adds to its charm.
Beautiful church. I walked up through the alley and saw the side door and thought, "wow, how beautiful." Then I walked into the plaza and saw the front of the building. It truly is amazing.

Museo Regional Potosino, located on Plaza de Aranzazu, offers a captivating journey through the history of San Luis Potosi state. Housed in a Franciscan monastery dating back to 1568, this museum not only features intriguing exhibitions but also includes the stunning Aranzazu chapel on its second floor. The baroque architecture and ornate decorations of the chapel showcase a unique vision in the Americas.
I loved this museum and all different exposition from mexican native to religious

(Translated by Google) Like the Cultural Center of the former penitentiary, this museum space is also widely wasted. There are many rooms closed and without access. It's a shame because the little that it exhibits is very interesting. The chapel on the second floor is very attractive, but the museum in general is somewhat neglected, there is little interest on the part of the INAH, a shame because it has a lot of potential (Original) Igual que el Centro cultural de la ex penitenciaria, este espacio museográfico también está ampliamente desperdiciado.

(Translated by Google) It's a good cultural and historical site about San Luis Potosí, very informative. It's a bit deteriorated by time. It's smaller than it looks, the police are somewhat rude, and there's a man who constantly follows you and scolds you even if you don't do anything. Other than that, it's a good experience to visit. I hope they restore it soon.
(Translated by Google) It is located in what was once a Franciscan convent, construction of which began in 1590. The Reform Laws made it possible for this building to house workshops and schools of arts and crafts, as well as a Masonic lodge. In 1952, the museum was established under the direction of the INAH (National Institute of Art and History). In its four rooms, you can learn an overview of Mesoamerican cultures, as well as the history of the people of Potosí, from the evangelization of the Guachichil Indians, the daily life and faith of the settlers during the viceregal era, to the struggle for independence and the agrarian revolution. In some museums, I have found pieces without descriptive cards; here, however, the cards indicate the place where they were found, the material they were made from, the culture, the historical period, their symbolism, etc. Very good. What needs to be improved is the typography; it is very small. Something interesting I found in the museum is that in 1925, in the Grand Masonic Lodge of El Potosí, the Chee Kung Tong Workshop No. 4 was established, made up of Chinese migrants from different cities in Mexico, with Masonic backgrounds dating back to 1905 in Monterrey, the State of Mexico, and Torreón.

(Translated by Google) The museum is very interesting; it has incredible potential, but it hasn't been fully utilized. The font on the information signs is very small, only available in Spanish (perhaps a QR code with a translation?), and the space is very dark, making it difficult to read and tiring for the eyes. The bathrooms are very clean, and everyone is very friendly. The place, in addition to what the museum contains, is historic and beautiful! I would have liked a little more information about it.

This elegant museum is dedicated to the art of mask-making, featuring an extensive collection that ranges from traditional ceremonial masks to modern artistic interpretations. I loved it. I just love the creativity of each artist. They also have a room display of masks from around the world. It’s a small collection but I enjoyed it. Oh they also a a display of Mexican wrestlers.

We had an incredible visit to the Mask Museum, and it quickly became a highlight of our trip. The museum is very affordable and offers a fascinating look into the history and artistry of masks from Mexico and around the world. The collection is diverse and beautifully curated, making it both educational and entertaining for visitors of all ages. One of the most fun parts was the luchador room, where we saw a variety of wrestling masks and learned about the rich tradition of lucha libre. My kids were thoroughly entertained and fascinated by the colorful masks and the stories behind them. The museum is housed in a stunning building, adding to the overall experience. It’s a perfect spot for families, history enthusiasts, or anyone interested in the vibrant culture of masks. We left feeling inspired and more connected to this unique art form. Highly recommend!

The Centro de las Artes San Luis Potosí is a cultural hub housed in a restored 19th-century prison, offering visitors a unique blend of history and art. The center features a museum within the former prison cells, showcasing local and international artists' works, including traditional paintings, sculptures, digital art, and jewelry. The charming rooms and patios host occasional exhibits that highlight the creativity and talent of Mexican artists.
Absolutely magical! The refurbished former prison has been turned into an art center. Probably the most beautiful place I've seen recently, the transformation is a must see. Walk around the many different gardens and visit the museum.
Stephanie C — Google review
From the videos and reviews that I have seen and read, they make little justice. First, the place is ENORMOUS. You really can't capture it until you see it for yourself. From outside one can't tell. There's many patios and places to explore. Everything is kept extremely clean, quiet, serene, just beautiful. To top it all a fresh clean breeze runs constantly. And this is just the outside. MUST SEE MUST VISIT.

The facilities are safe, the instructors are very friendly as well as the reception. 💯 Recommended both as a couple and in a group (Original) Un lugar muy padre en la ciudad de San Luis si se quiere pasar un rato diferente. (Translated by Google) Excellent place to spend a pleasant moment with family and loved ones I remember one time I came with my uncles and we played for like 2 hours, we had so much fun. Unfortunately they have no longer been able to come, since they moved to Monterrey :( It was very nice to spend time with them, I remember they had a little dog named Max, they had him since he was a puppy and he was super cute, once he even ate 2 pairs of socks that were hanging to dry. They had to take him to the vet and they opened his belly to be able to take them out, despite that he was very well behaved, I also miss him a lot: c, the truth is I don't know if they still have him, I hope so, one of these days I can go visit them and see him, it would be great.

Movie theater chain, offering state-of-the-art sound & projection technology.
*** Who doesn't like Cinepolis**** Our favorite Tuesday hangout spot. Movies in Spanish and/or English. Prices are extremely reasonable for both show and snacks. Remember you will have to pay $18 pesos for parking for the 1st 3 hours.

There are lots of movies to pick from. Nice theaters and even nicer mall! VIP section is also nice & clean. I think you have more food options here than you do in an American movie theater. Like Cinepolis.

I love their imax experience!
Juan F — Google review
Even if you don’t use the VIP (a la carte service + alcohol) you have a lot of options on food and drink. Not just popcorn and nachos. I love that you can see a movie drinking coffee and eating crepes.
Sem B — Google review
The cinema shows movies in English and Spanish subtitles (as a foreign I find it very nice). The seats are amazing, very comfy where you can lean your seat backwards a little. Only downside, it is more expensive than other branches of Cinepolis in Mexico.
Matan L — Google review
I've been here before to see a movie in 4D and the service was great, my second time not that much. On Tuesday there is a 2 for the price of one deal and we were struggling to get that promotion. It took a long time but they finally accepted us. However, we went to go see a 4D movie in Spanish and they informed us that it was in english with Spanish subtitles and that we'd have to wait till later. The lady instead of explaining to us that all the showings in 4D were going to be english with spanish subtitles, said there was a showtime later that was going to be in spanish and therefore we waited. To our surprise the showtime in spanish was NOT in 4D or even 3D it was just standard. At that point we just chose that option but were pretty disappointed. There needs to be better communication and online they should put whether the movie is in english or spanish so another day could be picked.
AAA — Google review
Cinépolis doesn't have a lot of personnel, so most of its employees are on the entrances (the main entrance with the covid filter or on the entrance to the movies) or in the dulcería (where sodas, sweets and popcorns are sold). There is no one to sell the tickets in the taquilletía. I don't know if it's possible to get them on the dulcería. We bought them in a machine, for which it is necessary to have a credit card and a tarjeta club Cinépolis. Make sure you arrive with enough time to make line for the tickets and for food, in case you want to buy food, and to have with your tarjeta club Cinépolis and a credit card. You can also buy tickets online, I think.

There are several areas, one for the older ones with different floors, another with tumbling and there they have a balloon party with music, another for the little ones and only children under three enter. On the sides there is something to rent and have birthday parties, in the back they have tables to make Legos and a giant SpongeBob SquarePants inflatable with a soccer field. The truth is it is very well distributed, the music is not loud and you can talk. The food is well served and the pizza tastes good. The staff is very attentive, the facilities are great, and something I like about it (compared to other places with the same concept) is that it's not too hot inside, they have air conditioning and ventilation, and they have several options, whether you choose by the hour or for the whole day.
