The Old Venetian Port of Chania is a historic harbor that dates back to the 13th century and was used for trade by the Venetians and Ottomans. The bustling waterfront is filled with fish restaurants offering stunning views of the port and its elegant antique lighthouse. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll around the harbor, savoring seafood meze or grilled octopus while admiring the picturesque setting.
What a beautiful place to visit. We wound our way through the many alleyways of lovely shops selling everything you could imagine them the Port just appeared in front of you. So much to do and see. We took an hours boat trip, which stopped offshore and you could swim with and feed the fishes. Their is a great choice of bars and restaurants to have food and drinks at. Try the Chicken Gyros, delicious. Some fab photo opportunities, as well as a Maritime Museum. A lovely way 6o spend a day, a must visit.

Really busy
Lots of tavernas to choose from. Selling lovely Cretan dishes. Great shops down tiny little streets. Beautiful handmade wares. Stunning scenery in the little streets and across the harbour..

Well worth a visit. I would suggest trying to get there early morning for breakfast and a walk. Late morning it was absolutely heaving with fierce competition for seats in the harbour restaurants. A walk into the harbour and along the outer harbour wall is a great experience set aside at least an hour to do the walk both ways.
A number of places advertised real Greek food, but to be honest, the fare on offer was pretty similar in terms of an "intetnational" menu. The exception to this were a few better quality restaurants just on the edge of the main drag.
This place is absolute magic. The history of nearly 5000 years of civilization is on fully display here. The old Venetian port area is beautiful, restaurants are fantastic and the people are very friendly. Will definitely visit again!
Have been there 7 years ago, returned again for good wibes and memories. It's a gemstone of Venetian architecture with a bit of Ottoman influence, some ruination after WWII and flavours of Greek cuisine. Definitely worth a visit and a walk, if you're on the Crete island. Save couple of hours to stroll in the labyrinth of the narrow streets, wonder in the shops, savour some local food! Just enjoy it!

Chania is an absolute must visit.
Beautiful old harbour.
Lots of fabulous shops, restaurants, bars. Those around the harbour front are no more expensive than the ones in the maze of streets behind. The streets behind have a great vibe both day and night. Chania is services by a great bus station with buses running into the early morning to outlying areas like Kato Stalis, Agia Marina, Platanias and much further.
There is a wonderful fort to visit and the whole area is very safe. I just love it ❤️
Love from first sight. Great cul de sac water port with many venues. Excellent food, shops, tourism. Great for a weekend getaway
Archaeological museum

Nestled in the charming district of Halepa, the Archaeological Museum of Chania stands as a beacon of Crete's rich cultural heritage. This remarkable museum showcases an extensive array of artifacts that trace the island's history from the Neolithic period through to Roman times. Visitors can explore treasures unearthed from ancient sites like Kydonia and Aptera, offering a glimpse into Crete’s storied past.
New, open modern museum layout that we spent 1.5 hours wandering through. Downstairs has 3 large rooms/sections for the permanent exhibitions, which is where we spent most of our time. The downstairs temporary exhibit was closed when we were there, and the upstairs Mitsotakis collection is a small room able to be viewed in 10 minutes. Signs available in English and Greek throughout, with an audio guide also available (though we passed as the signs were great).
What makes this museum unique is their recreations using authentic objects, such as a kitchen, illustrious warriors grave, and the 365 AD earthquake. Most museums provide the objects, sign, and diagrams, but they displayed it as it would’ve been which gave extra context. They also had great small touches like presenting coins so that you can see both sides, and used a non-reflective glass so it’s a LOT easier to see and take photos of the objects. (Whoever curated and displayed these rooms did an excellent job with the details!) Similar to other museums, will also see a lot of pottery, figurines, jewelry, and more.
Air conditioning: Is inside. We felt comfortable throughout when around 28-30C outside.
Access: Both a lift and stairs are available between the floors.
Cafe: More of a fancy restaurants vs. quick museum eats. It’s table service only, upscale/pricy, and a little slow (compared to other museums, not restaurants). The views are absolutely superb, and the small pancake with mizithra cheese snack we had was excellent - but not quite what we expected when heard there was a cafe.
Lockers: Available for free (it seemed) near the ground floor toilets.
Toilets: Nice, clean on ground floor.
Shop: Small shop. A little pricy for some items, but interesting books and kids items.

It is an absolute treasure trove of history and culture. Nestled in the beautiful district of Chalepa, the museum’s architecture alone is worth the visit—modern, elegant, and thoughtfully designed to reflect the layers of civilization it houses.
Inside, the exhibits are beautifully curated, offering a fascinating journey through Crete’s rich past. From Minoan artifacts to Roman relics, each piece is presented with care and context. The layout is spacious and intuitive, making it easy to explore without feeling overwhelmed.
Highly recommend spending at least two here during the day skipping beach on 30C summer days.
Excellent museum! Building looks new. Parking is on-site and free. Ticket price is €15 per adult which is more than some places but is absolutely worth every penny! Extensive inventory of exhibits going back to pre-history up to the Roman period. Lots and lots of pieces, videos, audio clips.... Staff were all forendly and helpful. Visiting exhibits very interesting too. Cafe upstairs is reasonably priced and serves good coffee and cake. 👍 You will be transported through time for at least two hours. If you are in west Crete you should really visit here.
This very new museum is a real gem! It's modern style and well laid out presentation is both beautiful and appealing.
The show cases are well organized with easy to follow descriptions. It presents time lines of the area through prehistoric times to the Roman period. As a ancient history buff this museum was really perfect for me.

It is also worth the time to view the private collections on the second floor.
There is a free parking lot at the left side of the entrance. It is wheel chair accessible.

A great introduction to a historical look a the changing lives and culture of Chania. 4000BC to more modern times. Romans to Turkish rule. Lots in between. Bronze to steel. Clay to Glass 1st Century AD.
Newly purpose built museum with lots of ancient items to look at which are clearly labelled and neatly displayed. Lovely cafe with a terrace and a small gift shop. Plenty of parking when we were there.
Quite expensive for the size of the exhibition. Modern building with some parking lots on site. Barely any people when we visited Saturday midday in October. There’s the rooms on the ground floor then one small room above.
This place is mind-boggling from a perspective of treasured it holds - if you like early pottery mosaics and jewelry this is the place for you.
If you speak English or Greek,DO use the free speaker unit. It has lots of extra information on it and means you can look at things while listening. Cafe view is stunning but the few food is subpar. Woman at the desk area would spend 10 to 20 minutes with each person repeating basic info which was kind of exhausting when made the waiting queue very long for five people ..

The Maritime Museum of Crete offers a fascinating journey through the maritime history of the region, spanning from the Bronze Age to modern times. The main collection, located at the entrance to Firka Fortress, showcases models of ancient ships, fortified towns and ports under Venetian rule, shipbuilding and repair structures, as well as modern Hellenic Navy vessels. A section is dedicated to the German invasion of Crete during WWII.
A fascinating museum packed with models, instruments and information about the boats that featured in the history of Chania and Crete overall. The star exhibit is the replica of a Minoan ship. Fittingly, the museum is located within an old building associated with shipbuilding. This is definitely not a tourist trap as some called it. This is an informative museum with a special story to tell that rewards anyone who can spend the time to go through the exhibits with care and attention.

Local-feeling museum across two floors that was heavily indexed on World War II, and felt like a collection of models and objects vs. a narrative story or overview of maritime in Crete.
We spent about 30-35 minutes wandering through, not doing in depth reading as the English signs were a little off given typos or unclear meaning given the vocabulary or phrasing used. It also felt extremely nationalistic Greek at times (to the point of almost being propaganda).
There is also no AC and some rooms without fans, so wouldn’t go at the hotter times of day.
However it’s like a good fit if you like ship models or World War II objects, as there were many ship models (centuries ago through World War II), and unique WWII objects to see like radars, binoculars, uniforms, photos, and a small model of a destroyer bridge.
It’s located on the edge of the Venetian harbour and has good views from the upper floor.
Other people were there but it didn’t feel overly crowded.
Toilets available upstairs, which were stocked and mostly clean.
No cafe or drinks onsite.
Set at the entrance of the Venetian harbour, the building itself feels like a guardian of memory, a quiet reminder of how deeply the sea has shaped Crete’s history and spirit.
As I moved through the rooms, I was struck by the sense of continuity from the ancient Minoan sailors to the Venetian fleets and the brave Cretan seafarers of World War II. The museum isn’t just a collection of artefacts; it’s a story of courage, resilience, and identity told through ships, maps, and photographs. The detailed ship models, handcrafted with care, seemed almost alive, as if ready to sail into history once more.
What touched me most was the balance between pride and melancholy. The sea, which brought trade and connection, also carried conflict and loss — and the museum captures that duality beautifully.
This musuem hold an outstanding array of memorabilia, model ships, pictures and paintings, shells, nautical instruments etc. on two floors, so there are stairs to climb.
It costs €4 for an adult ticket and there is no time limit to your visit. There are public toilets on the first floor.
There is lots of information to read, and a video to watch (with English subtitles), however there are a few exhibits with information only in Greek.
Overall a good couple of hours.
Visited this museum with a couple hours spare during a few days in Chania and was pleasantly surprised. Cheap entry (less than £5 equivalent), and a myriad of exhibitions on Chania and Greece's naval history (militarily and otherwise).
Some of the exhibition boards are woefully out of date and I'm pretty sure there's at least one board which is borderline offensive with regards to how it speaks about non-orthadox religions, in particular Islam. Broadly the layout of the museum on the ground floor is sensible, by era - though you do have to move non-intuitively to do it 'in order'.
Upstairs is where the real showpiece of the museum is (for me) - the content, artefacts, ancdotes, and exhibits on the World Wars are fascinating and worth the admission price alone.
I wouldn't visit again - but would reccomend it for anyone interested in finding out more about Greece's military history on water and its complicated relationship with naval tradition.
An interesting and very patriotic maritime museum in the centre of Chania. Quite old fashioned, lacking much of a narrative and heavily reliant on ship models. It's good value at only 5 euros for adults.
I found the English translations very funny though because of how terrible they are, many errors and it uses soaring patriotic language which made me laugh.
An impressive collection of models as well as other memorabilia making the visit certainly worth. One can walk through very fast (30 minutes) but equally can spend 2 hours if interested in details. Note worthy is the location as well as the views from the windows.

The Lighthouse of Chania is a historic structure originally built by the Venetians in the 16th century and later modified by the Egyptians in 1839. It stands on a mole protruding into Chania harbor, offering breathtaking views of the old port and Chania's old town.
The lighthouse is so beautiful!! Built in the late 1800s, the site has been preserved and maintained and is now a great tourist attraction. Would 10/10 recommend visiting at dusk to see the sunset on the village! The lighting is incredible! Lots of little windows to look out and see the sunset as well!

Nice enough for a spot of lunch or a glass of wine. Maybe a quick walk around the town. 15min on top of lunch is plenty if you eat in the harbor area. Pretty much all the pics were from the table or close to.

We were very lucky a kind local explained the parking rules. In short you can't park anywhere convenient, round red/blue sign is resident only. No clue how you get your plates back.

Very nice lighthouse. There is a short walk to get to the lighthouse, you walk by the wall on the one side, and sea on the other. I went there when it was quite hot, maybe you should visit early in the day, or late in the day. Access to the lighthouse at the end is locked, but you have a nice view on the city of Chania and onto the sea.
The highlight and the reason of every walk in the old town.
Great in any moment of the day or night for that matter.
Even better when going to the Sea and come back to the harbor.
Beautiful landmark that is totally worthy of a closer look after a short walk around the old port with its beautiful corners and shops that show up between its historical buildings. Also, the walk offers a great view of the sea and there benches for stops.
Very picturesque place to visit. The sun sets right by the lighthouse, when viewed from the boardwalk.
We walked the levy all the way to the lighthouse, which was enjoyable, but also tricky once the sun went down and we walked back in the dark (pavement and bricks are uneven).
We did not pay to go inside the lighthouse. We had a very nice outing just walking around the area.
Pleasant walk to reach the lighthouse. The lighthouse itself is closed for visiting, but while walking there you may walk the walls and have a nice view either towards the open sea or towards the Venetian port.
Do recommend the stroll before sunset.
A bit of a walk to the lighthouse, over some bumpy cobbles, but otherwise easy walk. Nice views. You can't get access to the lighthouse as it has a locked gate but can't walk up to it and stand on walls leading to it, with breathtaking views out to see and marina.

Signed shirts from incredible football players make it a must-visit for any fan. One of the best experiences we had in Chania.

Such a great place to visit while in Chania! The entrance is free but there’s so much to see for football fans. They have every national kit possible, the guy talked with us about everything they have and was such a sweetheart. He even charged our phone while there 🫶🏻 I wish we asked for his name. We are very very thankful! He promised they’ll have more souvenirs next year, hopefully we’ll visit again
It was incredibly interesting – as a football fan I was hooked for a long time. And what a wonderful owner! His passion and dedication to his favorite business are simply top notch. He is very open and gladly shows and explains football history, with jerseys from matches and many other unique items. A must-visit for all football fans!
An incredible museum for all, even if you are not Greek, and even if you are not a football fan. The collection of (signed and/or match worn) memorabilia here is truly remarkable. Mr. Flekkas does a superb job at making every visitor feel welcome and also sharing his unique stories and experiences. I highly recommend this museum to all visitors to Crete!
A wonderful place for football fans. It's packed with souvenirs and memorabilia from various events, not only from Greece but also from other countries. It has original signed jerseys from all eras, also.

The Old Chania Market, also known as Agora or the Municipal Market of Chania, is a historic indoor market located in the heart of the city. It offers a wide variety of local products such as cheese, olive oil, wine, olives, sweets, honey and carved olive wood items. In addition to food items like vegetables, fish and meat, there are also stalls selling crafts and souvenirs.

It was very busy due to the number of cruise ships in. Still a great place to visit. Just allow time for the crowds.
Everyone was awaiting for the new year, 2020. Cobble stone roads to walk with shops and places to eat indoors or outdoors. The retail stores closed early. I was surprised I only saw one souvenir shop. You don’t and old strolling having a good time. A lot of excitement at midnight with the new year.

Wonderful place to spend the afternoon or the day, great coffee houses and taverns, the local shops are great to get a souvenir from, that said they are not cheap comparing to other locations around Crete.
Touristic area but definitely worth a visit.
Before packing out from Chania visit this lovely market to take away some of the cities flavours and memories with you.
Almost all shops are selling same stuff but it good to look around. You can buy olives, olive oil, spices, cheeses and some mountain teas from here. Options are available for Souvenirs as you can see many beautifully crafted wooden items and some well painted pottery.
Keep an eye on your weight limit before going crazy.
Lovely market it's got lots of the same shops you would find else where in chania, but there is little food places that look nice and and some traditional butchers and fish mongers. The prices are better than the other tourist places and there is a nice educational display in the centre of the market. There is also the old walls of the original market just out side interesting if you like to see the history of places All in all a good little wander for a hour.
Interesting, but not too much to see, since I was there in January and it seemed the market had low-season too.
What I liked were the traditional cheese and olive stalls and some eataries.

The cinema wasn't crowded or busy at all, only 4 people all together ( us 2 people and another couple). It was overall a fun experience. Museum bit is very little. Only a few statues and some painting. Staff were friendly and helpful. The show was really short and focused on mythology instead of actual history. Which was a bit disappointing for me, as I booked this experience to learn about Crete and the history of its people, instead I learnt about Zeus and how he turned into a bull etc. It should be 20 minutes longer and include an actual history bit.
Another shortfall of the show was the quality of the animation, it looked like an older video game.
It was a fun roller coaster simulation at the end of it, which was fun.
Overall we left with a smile on our faces. I would recommend it to anyone, but don't expect too much and you won't get disappointed.
We visited this place as a family of 4 with young kids. One of our kids was feeling apprehensive of the 9D cinema (I think we traumatised him young with the hyperspace mountain at Disneyland 😂) and the staff was extremely kind and accommodating to him. They were all polite and warm, made us feel like home. The experience itself was a lot of fun, a good mix of history, mythology and just a bit of pure fun. A really interesting and unique experience in Chania!

I made a very good choice because the museum and the film of the Minoan civilization were what I wanted for my children to see about the history of the Domain and the Minoans! The staff was very helpful, well done to the owners!
Very interesting experience. Friendly and helpful staff who asked if I wanted her to take my picture for me as I went alone. The movies is 30 minutes to see, so all in all you would only need about 40-50 minutes here to experience the movies and read all the information. 10/10

The reception area was very well done! Bringing the Minoan world to such a great, fresh visual was really eye-opening. The shows were fun and educational and my child loved them. It's probably time to upgrade the animation though.
We loved the Minoan world experience!! It was a ton of fun and suitable for all ages :) I went on it twice in two years and still had a blast with all the different movies in the experience! Would recommend for anyone in town!

Kucuk Hasan Mosque, also known as Yali Tzami, is a significant Ottoman-era domed mosque situated in the Old Venetian Port of Chania. The city has a rich history dating back to the Minoan era and developed during the Byzantine and Venetian periods. The mosque stands out as the only one of its kind in Chania and is often referred to as 'mosque of the sea' due to its proximity to the water.
We went for an art show. It was amazing! The space was clean and light. There was a lively feel to it. Not at all what I expected in such an old and historic building. I was very impressed with the restoration and upkeep of this place. The location could hardly be more beautiful. Highly recommend if they have an art or craft show that you stop by and take a look!

While I perfectly understand why the Greeks and other Balkan countries such as the Serbs wished to decolonise themselves from the architecture of their Ottoman oppressors, this building with its almost spherical dome is a handy landmark while walking along or looking towards the seafront.
I can't comment on the exhibitions or anything, as it appears to only be open at the weekend and the weekend I was there, everything was shut for Easter.
Repurposed mosque that is now an art gallery. Great artists who live and work in Chania have made this place an ideal exhibition spot for their works. Check out the paintings 🖼 of longtime resident artists like John Tierney; impressive abstract work with serene nature themes
A nice remembrance of 300 years Ottoman rule in Crete. There are few other Ottoman period buildings. Inside mosque is now a exhibition art display. You can still admire the mehrab area with Quranic inscriptions. Noted the recent comment mentioning Ottomans as "oppressor's". its a game of power. What were Portuguese were doing in India Goa, Spainders in South America, colonized half of the world. Many places are so beautiful that classed as UNESCO sites. Why not go ahead and decolonize Cordoba mosque and remove this masterpiece architectural site. Anyway, who cares. This old once a Mosque is standing their in Chania for world to remember this period and admire the Ottoman architectural wonders.

The spherical dome is a visible landmark in the Old Port, showing the mixture of cultures Crete has experienced throughout its long and rich history
I do not know the history of the mosque, but when taken in the context of the full view of the harbor, it's a pleasant site. I had no idea you could go inside, and hopefully I have an opportunity to see it again.
historical and one of the rare preserved mosques, reflects the sunset colors, and attracts hundreds of tourists every evening. Open as an exhibition center. I have to say that before the renovation, the pink domes reflected the light much better!

This picturesque beach spans about 1.5 kilometers and boasts stunning views of the Aegean Sea, making it an ideal spot for sunbathing or taking a refreshing dip in its crystal-clear waters. The central area is well-organized with sun loungers and umbrellas, while the western side retains its natural charm with rocky outcrops perfect for exploration.
I live close by. I hit this beach up at least every other day. I take my own umbrella and towel and chill. If you want to rent some beds and umbrellas they range anywhere from 12 to 15 euros potato want you bringing outside food or even water. It's a good swimming beach though there are just a few rocks but mostly nice sand on the bottom and the water is clear. It does get crowded with tourists especially on Sundays. Enjoy this beach and please keep it clean.

Very nice sandy beach in the vicinity of the centre of Chania. Sunbeds 10€ each, clear water and sand. Nearby restaurants serve very tasty meals (breakfasts, lunches, and desserts). Lovely waves to swim and play around. Highly recommended.
Comfortable shallow sea with amazingly clean water and a lot of small fishes. Cabins and showers are free of charge. But the beach is pretty narrow and full of chairs (2 chairs and umbrella cost 20 euros). So, if you don't wanna pay, it's difficult to find a place.

It is the best beach ⛱️ in the northeastern part of the city of Chania. At the beginning of the beach, the free zones are really dirty and with lots of trash in the sand. You should visit the eastern end of the beach which is clean and with more space to enjoy. The water is clean and beautiful and you will spot lots of fish in it.
Very beautiful beach. The water is not very clean. The umbrella and sun beds are 15 euro for the first line and 10 for the rest. But if you want to be in front you shall wake up early. On the left part you can rent kayaks or SUPs.
The is located not too far away from the old port and the old town of Chania. Its a soft sand beach without many rocks in the water. The water is crystal clear you can see the bottom where your feet stand and the small fish around you. There's a lot of restaurants/bars behind the beach which is where you can loan the present beds with sunshade. The prices may vary but wr paid 20 euros for the day for 2 beds. The water is not cold at all so you can stay inside a long time having fun. Overall a pretty amazing beach!

The fortress on the northwest side of the old harbor of Chania was built by the Venetians against enemy threats and possible invasions. Cnstruction started around 1610.
There isn't much to see but tou can see the barracks. There is also lookout tower, which you can climb to get a great picture of the harbour or out to sea.
The Maritime Museum of Crete, is housed at the entrance of the Fortress.
I enjoyed this place, didn't go into the fortress itself, but i was on top of it for a rest after walking around the area to enjoy the view and the music that was being played down by the pier. it was a majestic and lovely building to visit. Beautiful church that’s free to enter, and wander through in a few minutes. There are no signs, but it does have some icons and art to look at. Note: There were no fans or air conditioning on when we went so it was very hot inside.
What a disappointment. This church was mentioned in the guide book and sounded interesting, having been a mosque until around 1913. Although when we arrived at the church it was closed. There are no opening times listed outside, or ironically in the guidebook.

A very nice place, but the man outside the church, who probably takes care of it, is extremely rude and disrespectful — completely against the values of the church and the place he represents at that moment. My girlfriend and I have a small dog (a dachshund) and we were visiting the site. I was standing with the dog at the entrance of the church when the man stopped me in a very impolite way. I immediately apologized and did not enter at all, yet he kept shouting at me aggressively. Just imagine someone behaving like that at the entrance of a church.

A very big St.Nikolaos church. Built as an orthodox Christian church and taken by the Muslims later on. The minaret is still there to remind the locals what happened. Next to the small square that has a huge platanus tree. A sign there says that on that tree the Turks hanged the bishop and a priest in 1821 during the revolution of Greece.

The Folklore Museum of Chania, situated near the Catholic Church in the Old City, offers a glimpse into daily life in Chania during the 18th and 19th centuries. A little hidden treasure trove of historical items dealing with everyday Cretan life through the ages. Beautifully presented in a tiny house. Amazing collection of historical postcards, books and embroidery.
Entry fee of €3. Gorgeous little lady looking after the museum works upstairs, making the most intricate silk embroidery and happily chatted about the pieces. They are also for sale and make a wonderful souvenir to take home that is 100% locally and traditionally made.
Note: Lots of narrow stairs, so not wheelchair accessible.

A very small museum consisting of a few rooms. It took us 10 minutes to look around it all. The woman demonstrating machine embroidery was the only interesting part.

It's not the best and most modern museum in the world but it's still worth visiting. It's a tiny musem hidden very close to the touristic area of Chania. The tickets are only 3 euro, and it's an honest price for small and quite dated exhibition - still has many interesting details regarding folklore arts such as basket weaving, loom weaving, or tailoring.
The main reason for visit in this museum is that one of the rooms is a studio of an embroidery artist (apologies but I didnt catch her name). The embroidery paintings she is creating with silk thread are something absolutely fenomenal. Combination of folk, naive style with craft mastery is mind-blowing. I honestly had tears in my eyes. You can watch the artist work there and admire some of her works (and they are for sale too).
Just a note - to enter the museum you need to climb some steps and inside another set of narrow and steep stairs.

I was recently in Chania and was delighted to visit the Folklore Museum. It was very cheap to visit and once inside there was so much history and so many stories from another time. The highlight of the visit was to see Irene, who put together the artefacts in the museum from her long career in textiles and machine embroidery. Indeed you can meet her and watch her creating original and enchanting pictures, cushions and bags which are for sale. It is not often you can meet and watch someone making such imaginative and novel depictions of a time gone by. Truly a one off.
This is a wonderful little place. It has been put together with love, and that comes through in everything. 'Official' museums in Crete have some tremendous artefacts and are very scholarly -- nothing wrong with that -- so they can come across as, well, a bit … dry, but the Folklore Museum is joyful. Looking at the multitude of items, it felt as if one was touching the lives of people who made and used them.
We visited in April 2022 when it cost 3 euros to enter, and I'd say it's the best thing that you can get in Chania for that price!

This beautifully restored house was well worth the visit. I enjoyed learning about the life of Greece’s most fascinating and influential leader. The house is slightly outside of the tourist center of Hania but just a 10 minute cab ride and couple of blocks from the archaeological museum. Such a fascinating museum. I knew very little about this former Greek Prime Minister before but I left with such a strong impression of how important a figure he was in shaping modern Greece. The museum is beautifully set out with lots of explanations in English and Greek throughout. There are many very interesting and relevant items from his life and the bullet ridden car stands out as an example of not only his incredible personal history, but as an extraordinary exhibit. The young woman on the front desk was extremely helpful and the cafe/bar area was a lovely quiet spot to enjoy a glass of wine at the end of our tour.

Well-preserved house and well-structured exhibition with many interesting historical objects. Each one has a QR code allowing to access a description on the museum app, which is free to download. The information is available in Greek, English, German and French. I think it could be improved to contain more historical context for foreign visitors, nevertheless interesting. Plus there's also a cool space with educational games for kids in the attic.
This is definitely one of my favorite places in Chania. I am surprised how friendly the stuffs are and how well the house the preserved. All the items are well displayed, and with the app, you can scan any WR code and find out the background story behind the item. The garden is so lovely and well designed. First floor is my favorite because the book room and the room with fresco’s are absolutely amazing! The second floor is ok, but I do really like the piano and the balcony. The third floor is for presenting some of his personal belongings and some stuff made and named after him. Overall, I love this place. Highly recommend it!
A very nice and well-kept house full of ancient forniture and some nice 20th century finds of the family. I think he was a very important character of Greece and a tourist can't appreciate it completely.

Each work has a QR, which is good for dates and artist. Some works have more information, these are very interesting and worth reading. I hope they are still working on adding those extra information on all the works because its very well done. Also, with a QR instead of the fully printed information next to it you will firstly make time to look at the work. And then, when interested you can go to the qr. Beautiful art works and worth a stop off into! I entered late so I was let in for free but I believe it’s only €4 entry and it’s worth every penny. The gentleman (I assume is the owner) was very friendly and approachable. Even the security too! If you are in to art or ships (or both) I definitely recommend! You’re allowed to take photos inside (without flash) and also a detail that often goes missed… the museum is in the shape of a ship inside! Quite fitting and a lovely tribute to the artist.

I walked through this park today whilst in Chania and came across the most amazing tree! I've seen loads of huge plane trees here on Crete, I've seen some ancient olive trees as well, but this tree (not sure what it is, but I must find out!) is one of the most beautiful and interesting trees I've seen here. I will definitely be going back soon to see it again :) . The public gardens are great with some brilliant public facilities, a really interesting looking cafe in a fab building and some beautiful water features.

Great gardens, excellent renovation with new european standards playground. All in one with the children library, the cafe, the open cinema. Always in love with this treasure in the heart of the city.

There is not much to see here. I recommend that you first go through another park that is right next door, from there to see the sports stadium and from there to this park. Because really the things you can see/spend time here are one very large tree (really big), a playground and a fountain pool. I recommend the place only for the cafe, to go for lunch, or to eat treats. The ice cream portions were big and tasty.

Katerina Amusement Park is a great choice for spending quality time with kids or friends. It offers classic amusement park rides at reasonable prices and ensures the safety of its games. The park, located in a convenient area, provides an opportunity for children to have fun. Although it may be small compared to larger amusement parks, it still manages to entertain young kids and create a fantastic experience for all visitors.
Fun for all, had a fantastic time, balarina was the fav followed by the dodgem cars and the caterpillar. Everyone came away with a 🐻 bear, well happy 😊

If you’re looking for a game changing boating experience, this is it. It’s absolutely first class all the way. We had a midsize party with young children, adults, couples, singles, and everyone left wanting to book another trip for the very next day. If you go to Crete, this trip is an absolute must do. During the trip: very professional. We've been on boats in Spain, Portugal. Ibiza... we were impressed with their professionalism. Giving us room for privacy. Also, as everyone knows - locals know the best.. they recommended when and which stop to go- we were able to avoid bug boats coming in. We had our 3 year old son with us on the boat and they made sure he is taken care of... they also found a good place to have lunch - steady water.
End of trip- just pleasant and nice... we would be on this boat, Apollo, again when we are back in Crete. We loved both gentlemen that were handling the boat and welcoming us. Very professional...

Showed us some beautiful spots for snorkeling, made a nice lunch and were very respectful of our space so it felt like we had the boat to ourselves. What an amazing experience! We did the 4-hour Kalathas Beach Caves & Macherida Beach package and we wish we selected a 6 or 8 hour option because we had such a great time. Captain Antonis and Adam were very professional and timely. The food on board was excellent with homemade olive oil from Antonis’s trees. The boat was clean and spacious and although we enjoyed the crews company, they also gave us a lot of privacy by retreating to the cabins below.
I had done quite a bit of research before selecting Chania Boat Tours and I’d highly recommend them to anyone looking for a private boat experience.
