Vault 21 is a unique dining and event space located in the heart of Dunedin. Housed in a former bank vault, this venue has been transformed into a vibrant hub for food and social gatherings. The restaurant offers a Chinese-fusion sharing-plate menu that has garnered numerous awards for its exceptional cuisine. The interior features elements of the building's history, with old structural beams repurposed as tables and heat-scarred pressed-tin panels adorning the walls.
Another nice place in the heart of Dunedin for dining or just having cocktails. They offer a nice fusion type of cuisine. The ambience of the place is very cool with a private room available for a small group. The staff are very friendly and attentive. I am not normally into fusion cuisine but the meals here are excellent. The portion is neither too big nor too small. Make sure you make a reservation. Many visitors come here since it's in the Octagon and in the close proximity of many hotels in town.
Christian C — Google review
It's chic, but sorry, the food is not my cup of tea. It has no doubt this is another fancy restaurant at the Octagon. Asian fusion, and it's very busy. To me, the taste of the food is more important than the atmosphere. The food only looks good or maybe I don't know what and how to order. I did see other customers were eating the wagyu slides, that might be one of the signature thou, unfortunately I didn't order.
Eric C — Google review
Staff friendly and efficient. Lovely atmosphere. And the food was delicious. Highly recommend the steak sandwich, won tons and the bang bang chicken. A very pleasant experience and good value
Maria C — Google review
Fantastic food in nice and relaxed setting. The windows were open, allowing the fresh air in. Dishes are well suites for sharing. Also good vegetarian options. Sticky date pudding is a dessert to die for … Definitely worth a visit!
Edith S — Google review
Great food, service and atmosphere. We were served very quickly and our food came out even quicker! I had the fish of the day and my partner had the bang bang chicken. Both were delicious. Would definitely recommend and go back!
Claudia M — Google review
Had a lovely meal here tonight and had the lamb shank. It was beautifully cooked however i would expect a larger size shank for the $35 cost. 4 mouth fulls of the shank, and it was gone. My overall experience was tainted by this especially when my dining partners had a decent portion for their money.
Chris F — Google review
The place to be in the octagon. Reasonably priced and good range of wines on the menu. Delicious cocktails. The kaarage chicken here is the best I’ve had so far! Very friendly and attentive staff 😋
Nancy P — Google review
I love this place so much! The food is always excellent, the menu is varied, and the staff are so accommodating. I had the weirdest request today, and the server and kitchen were so kind about it. I've come here for special occasions and casual meals. I'm always so happy to have chosen vault 21, whatever the occasion.

Nestled at the corner of Moray Place and Lower Stuart Street, Woof! is a delightful fusion of a diner’s comfort, a pub's warmth, and the allure of a cocktail lounge. This vibrant late-night bar boasts an extensive cocktail menu featuring both timeless classics and innovative monthly specials crafted by renowned Scottish author Damian Barr. The atmosphere is eclectic yet inviting, enhanced by top-notch music and attentive service that makes every visit memorable. As you explore Woof!
Great vibes!! Super cute little bar. Drinks were delicious and fries were *chef's kiss* - will 100% be back. Also really liked that the cocktails were vegan (i.e. aquafaba instead of egg white).
Lili O — Google review
My friend and I visited Woof! during our time in Dunedin and loved it so much we went back again the next night. The vibes were fantastic, the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful, and the place was decorated extremely well. The first night we both had the South Island Iced Tea which combined gin, white rum, gentian liqueur, spiced vanilla liqueur, cognac, Averna Amaro, cola and kawakawa tea. It was absolutely delicious with an earthy vanilla and caramel vibe to it. I've never had anything like it. The second night my friend had the Blood Orange Margarita and I had the Sage Advice. I'm a big fan of savoury drinks but never see much of them on menus so I was super happy to see it and even happier to drink it.
Caitlin S — Google review
Drinks are unique, staff are friendly and there’s a vibrant atmosphere. The food menu is light and tasty. Always love coming here to play board games with friends over a few well crafted cocktails.
ROS8215 — Google review
Atmosphere, vibes, drinks are just perfect. Highly recommend the cocktails. Get them to make a corpse reviver they do fantastic ones
Aysha W — Google review
Probably awesome if you have a lot of money and like fancy cocktails. $40 for 2 margaritas that includes 3 ingredients is not the place for me. Tiny, crowded, tables all sticky. Lights above the little tables are like heat lamps.
Danni H — Google review
The staff were extremely rude and unwelcoming. Instead of creating a safe and respectful environment, they spread negativity and intolerance. It was a very unpleasant experience, and I would not recommend this place to anyone who values respect, inclusivity, and basic human decency
Veronica I — Google review
Absolutely charming little bar with a friendly, cozy, unique atmosphere. Definitely recommend their cocktails (Mai tai is the one pictured)
Erik R — Google review
An awesome busy place. Marvelous decor, great friendly staff and the music soundtracks playing are fabulous. I would recommend this place to everyone. And while you can walk in and be seated I recommend reserving a table in advance as it's a busy pumping bar/restaurant.

Nestled beneath the streets at no. 12 The Octagon, Mr Fox Tapas Lounge Bar offers a unique underground experience with a hidden courtyard among historic buildings. The bar serves up signature cocktails like the Basil Brush Bramble and the Lost Giraffe, along with tapas from the Bacchus kitchen upstairs. With a late-night cosmopolitan vibe, cozy booths, and local ingredients in their drinks, it's an ideal spot for those seeking sophistication and excellent cocktails.
A hidden gem located through a doorway and down a set of stairs. Great selection of cocktails. Professional and knowledgeable staff
Liam S — Google review
Staff were fantastic — friendly and welcoming. The cocktails and shots were great too. Unfortunately, the experience was let down by the lack of atmosphere and poor choice of DJ. The DJ and their friends came across as quite full of themselves, and the music selection lacked talent and energy, which really brought down the vibe of the night.
Heather L — Google review
Server was by himself on a busy Wednesday. He was very friendly but service was unavoidably slow due to lack of staff. I had a corpse reviver no2, which was delicious but it took 40 minutes to get here.
Nunya N — Google review
Outstanding service from the team. Especially Jess. What a living legend. If you want a killer bramble and a fat vibe this is the place.
Jonte — Google review
Great cocktails but the bloke serving was very rude. Felt very unwelcomed and uncomfortable. Smart comments as we finished our drinks and were leaving.
Deano — Google review
Didn't want to rate, just wanted to inform that Google hours are wildly off. They had done last call by 23:00. They close based on business volume.
Tracy R — Google review
Had a really uncomfortable experience with the manager. He was very rude and demeaning to my friends and I when we came in for some drinks. We had 2 seperate groups of girls tell us that he had been awful to them too that night. I did reach out privately in order for the issue to be resolved but I was never contacted by them in the end. I was very surprised to find out this is the manager, when I had never experienced such awful service. I would not want him working and representing my business. Won’t be back, and don’t recommend.
Lily — Google review
We had amazing cocktails and Alan was the absolute best! The space, yes it is small but its a cool hidden bar with great cocktail makers and a little outdoor area which is well done. Come before 10pm as the young crowd will almost seat on your lap ... but that has nothing to do with the service nor the delivery of the cocktails. Awesome! Cheers

Bacchus Wine Bar & Restaurant is a European-style establishment located in a historic building dating back to the 1880s. The classic high ceilings, ornate cornicing, and stunning sash windows offer a spectacular setting for diners. With a dedication to exceptional food standards, it has been awarded the NZ Beef and Lamb Hallmark of Excellence for the last 15 years.
We were having a hard time deciding where to go in Dunedin and we are so glad we chose the Bacchus! Very good food, I really enjoyed the lamb, and there is something special about the flowerpot bread but I couldn't put my finger on it! All the portions were perfect and left just enough room for really good dessert, and the decaf espresso was delicious. Next time I'm in town I'll be back!
Ryan G — Google review
Very nice restaurant with a view overlooking the octagon (not all tables). Small menu with different options and a very long wine list. The flowerpot bread comes freshly baked with butter. The sweet corn risotto was the best. The steak was of very good quality however overall it was missing some seasoning, but salt and pepper were available to help myself. My only recommendation is to provide a proper steak knife (mine was not sharp at all and made the cutting a bit of an adventure) as well as a larger fork (I’m not tall, but the fork was tiny considering the steak is served in a bowl shaped plate).
S. K — Google review
My husband has been raving about this place for the past couple of years, and finally my travels brought me to Dunedin. It was such a wonderful meal that we returned the next day! We highly recommend the delicate ceviche in coconut cream appetizer which was rich yet light. We also had the chicken Waldorf salad as a shared starter one day and that was equally delicious. The chicken was perfectly tender and the mix of apples, walnuts, celery and assorted other fruits and veggies was beautifully balanced. Our exquisite mains of a flavorful baked sole with passion fruit glaze and a perfectly prepared fillet steak were also elegantly prepared and presented. I'm usually skeptical about restaurant steaks because they're oftentimes not as good as what we can cook at home but this was far from the case. It's a combination of the high quality NZ grass-fed beef and some outstanding cooking techniques. There was a very slight hint of wasabi and it came out perfectly medium rare and as tender and tasty as they come. For dessert, we enjoyed a decadent sticky date and banana pudding. The hospitality was exceptional as is the restaurant's ambience. Located right in the Octagon in an elegant historic building, the restaurant sparkles! We’re excitedly planning yet another visit.

Simply great! We were in New Zealand for our honeymoon and Bacchus was easily one of the best dining experiences of our trip! Our host Gabby was just lovely, food was great and we had an amazing time here.
Sencer T — Google review
Our experience at Bacchus was one of the best during our entire trip through New Zealand. The owner talked with us, gave us so much insight into his 30 year history in Dunedin and the food was absolutely amazing! The fish was so fresh and served beautifully, and the desserts were fantastic. Plus, our daughter is still talking about the best chocolate martini she's every had!
Joy K — Google review
Beautiful old building. Great selection of wines. I had a perfect risotto and my husband had a steak with a side of veg. Both delicious. We shared a crème brûlée and what a treat that was. The best I have had for a very long time. Thank you so much.

Stairs lead to the cosy restaurant over looking the Octagon. Friendly and very accommodating staff and chef for specific food requirements. Prompt service. I sat at the table by the window for airflow and view.

Moiety Otago, situated in the historic warehouse district, offers a complete dining experience with its five-course menu. A finalist in the 2021-2022 New Zealand Cuisine Good Food Awards, this restaurant is known for delivering unforgettable fine dining. The venue's rough former wool store setting exudes a cozy yet sophisticated vibe. Guests can enjoy snacks and appetizers, with oysters being a popular choice.
Absolutely brilliant food. Coming from a very basic eating preference I was somewhat dubious looking at the menu. But went in with an open mind and SO glad I did. Each and every course was absolutely exploding with flavour and highlighted the clever chefs take using different ingredients of the meals. We had the feed-me menu which was 5 courses and although plates look small, it was certainly filling by end of 5 courses. We’ll be back and will be telling anybody we see to try the unusual meals. Brian and Chris Wadsworth
Brian W — Google review
We had a fantastic time at Moiety. We sat at the counter watching Sam artfully craft our dishes. Each was deftfully presented and tasted exquisite. Kim has selected a fantastic set of wines by the glass. All were excellent but Q Wines's pinot gris was especially delicious.  The wine definitely accented the meal. Moiety is one of the top restaurants in the South Island. I recommend it for a lovely night out or a special occasion.
Dan X — Google review
First time visit to Moiety 🌻 We made a dinner reservation for a 5 course meal and arrived promptly at 5:30pm. We were welcomed in by a kind host and took our seats at the table facing the mini bar area. The atmosphere was great and the ambience of the restaurant was an ideal spot for a dinner date. The food was however average in my opinion - some of the dishes were overpowered by a charcoal smell and taste - perhaps these dishes would have worked better minus the charcoal. Just my opinion though! Our hosts were really lovely and took the time to explain what each dish consisted of. Our meals were served promptly at first. However, as the restaurant started to fill up to capacity, we noticed that we had to wait a tad bit longer for our meals. Parking is available opposite the restaurant - however, do make your way at least 15min earlier than your reservation in order to secure a good parking spot as they do fill up really fast!
Heambrosia R — Google review
Good meal experience. Service was good. Food was mostly fantastic. Lots of experimental ideas which where really interesting and not something I would of ever chosen. Of the 5 courses my wife and I both agreed the roasted yams where exceptional. The flavour combinations where spot on. The other was the desert, pumpkin icecream with a crispy wafer of meringue and a crumbly base with a small poached pear smash. We both thought the rest was great just not stand out. The beef cheeks where amazing for the first one or two mouthfuls. Then unfortunately the flavours kept building on the palette of the tounge and eventually got too rich with the richness of all the components of the dish. Totally beautifully cooked and presented. Atmosphere was like smart casual modern dining with a bar. Music was modern with a varied arrangement of popular covers and some 00s-10s classics. Overall good experience.
Cam D — Google review
Wow Moiety is amazing! Had such a fabulous dinner sitting up at the bar so we could watch all the action. the Oysters were outstanding! Melted seaweed butter cooked over charcoal highly recommend. All of the dishes were super tasty and executed with such care and attention to detail. We will certainly be returning the next time we are in town.
Katy L — Google review
Our first go at this fine eatery located in a fabulous building in our pretty city. The girls get along with the cocktails list moving upwards one cocktail at a time. Lots of laughters and gossips have a hint that the cocktails were yumm and they were doing their job. Somehow we felt that the tall, bare brick wall needed a painting. Perhaps the upbeat ,usic also felt slightly out of place. The food was fantastic. As you come to expect from these fine dining places, each meal has several components, complimenting each other with flavours and textures. Charred pumpkin, battered cauliflower, duck breast, fillet steak and the sweet course of sorbet were all high quality. Our friends felt that sous vide meat loses its texture comapred to cooking steak on a pan, hence they weren't a huge fan. The vegetarian guest felt her jackfruit lacked some flavours. Overall, a fantastic first experience and we all agreed we will be back for more.
Raunaq B — Google review
the food was unbelievably good. beautiful wine to match. very attentive service. I would highly recommend this little gem.
Allana O — Google review
A dinner for the books! Amazingly good food that should be Michelin starred! One of the dishes was lamb neck which had been sous vide that was so sweet and tender. The pate was fluffy! Orange wine was a great combo. All in all a very memorable meal served in a beautifully sleek setting run by a husband/wife team with warmth and service at their heart. Will repeat whenever possible.

Live music venue
Inch Bar is a charming and intimate establishment located in North East Valley, near the Botanical Gardens. It's well-known for being a hub for the local gay community and for being one of Dunedin's original craft beer suppliers. The cozy atmosphere, complete with a blazing fire, makes it an ideal spot to enjoy local beverages and live music. The bar features unique decor inspired by Gaudi and hosts open mic nights as well as gigs on occasion.
Short walk from our accommodation, this pub was a little gem with a warm atmosphere. We enjoyed our chat with the lady behind the bar. The locally made Albar's Original Salted Caramel Whiskey that we tried here, was so smooth and unique that we bought a bottle at the Bottle Shop before we left Dunedin.

What an absolute gem! We came here not expecting much, and got an amazing night! People were so friendly, the local performers were all amazing and the drinks were perfect (local beer and mulled gin). We can't wait to be back

The best & strangest bar (to me). The chips are awesome. A nice selection of tap drinks. The decoration is surreal, the couches are painted into sculpted walls, along with the “light holders” and many other features following this interior style. Worth a visit! Tuesday nights in particular, generally it’s open mic nights with awesome people performing.
Tage T — Google review
Fabulous little local bar, shades of Gaudi in the interior design. Loved the mulled gin on a cold winter evening- a gathering of locals with welcoming smiles. Staff always quick to engage in a yarn or two, good vibes, usually some interesting local music or acts on the teeny tiny stage.

Love me my alleyway haunts: we were rewarded for our adventurous choices in food as everything was sensational, from the korean beef tartare, to the chicken liver wontons and savoury rice pudding, topped off with the beautiful orange rose syrup cake; a beautiful atmosphere where one can while away the hours... cheers to a newfound haunt in Ōtepoti (visited Dec 2021).

Pretty buzzy experience that I haven't really encountered since I was a teenager tbh. It was quite clear when I walked in the barman had an ego but I have a facial deformity and TRUST ME when I say you know when people are treating you differently in regards to it and yea I waited literally in the middle of the bar for some dude with an earring in to serve me but he kept going right around me to others and hwn unquestionably snickered about me to what I assume was a regular referencing my facial issue. It's so far beyond devestating to a level many can't understand and made me realize these people still exist in 2024. I will highly likely make a discrimination complaint as in this day and age we should be last this especially for people who have absolutely no control over their issues 😔. I'm saddened to a level I haven't been in over a decade and pretty angry tbh as it was extremely embarrassing. Disgusted in that specific staff member and disappointed at people like that still existing.
Neo D — Google review
Has the vibe of a closet and the bar staff are the coats. Dry and crusty like a plain piece of toast so I suppose the name is fitting. Clearly very picky about who they allow to come in but the criteria is being just cool enough for them
ENYA M — Google review
Received awful service from Cam. We went into the bar with a positive friendly attitude, and were ultimately met with with disqualified service. My friend and I ordered the same drink, and tasted obvious differences. The other staff were accomodating but dismissive, CAM was especially awful, possibly profiling me as a “dumb white girl”. The drinks were fabulous, (despite the obvious alcohol restriction), and the other staff were lovely. Really takes a team.

Speight's Ale House is a must-visit destination in Dunedin, New Zealand. The brewery, established in 1876, offers an engaging tour that shares the rich history and brewing process of their iconic beers. Visitors get to immerse themselves in the sights, smells, and tastes of the ingredients used in crafting these renowned brews before indulging in a tasting session. Additionally, Speight's Ale House offers delectable food options with recommended beer pairings.
An ale house that wears its brewing heritage with pride, right in the heart of Dunedin, New Zealand. Speight’s is more than just a name. It’s an ale brand rooted deep in tradition, established in 1876 by James Speight, Charles Greenslade, and William Dawson on Rattray Street. Dawson brought the craft, Greenslade the malt, and Speight the business acumen. Together, they built what would soon become the country’s biggest brewery, with their brews making their way across the Tasman and into the islands—Australia, Fiji, Tahiti. Fast forward to 1999, the Speight’s Ale House was opened: giving longtime fans a place to enjoy the full Speight’s experience. And what a lineup! From the bright, citrusy kick of Summit Citrus to the crisp, well-layered Triple Hop Pilsner, and of course, the bold, unmistakable Distinction Ale—each pour feels like a celebration of Speight’s legacy. The food? Solid. Think classic, hearty pub fare that keeps things grounded without stealing the spotlight from the beer, which is exactly how it should be. The service is fantastic! Attentive, friendly, and full of that down-to-earth Southern hospitality. It made the whole visit feel that much warmer. All this, set in a charming two-storey building that echoes the character of the old brewery it once was, complete with that inviting, rustic feel that makes you want to linger just a little longer.

This Iris bar is good as Google recommended. We ordered 4 main and came with pretty big portions. The beer is also very tasteful.

Ribeye steak with peppercorn sauce was delicious. The meat was tender and flavourful, with the peppercorn sauce spicing up the dish. The Gold Medal ale was refreshing with a mild malty fragrance. It was so good, we went twice for dinner.

Surprised by how large the meal was and it was delicious. If you’re traveling and after a home cooked meal would suggest trying out this place.
Marnie M — Google review
Unfortunately the quality of the food has dramatically dropped, have been back here twice this month I've noticed that the beef quality and the cooking is very poor The stakes are full of gristle and overcooked The chips was so overdone that when stabbed with a fork they flung off my plate. Here how it was 4 months ago as per my original review: I'm always impressed with the exceptional experience at this establishment! The food is consistently delicious, the service is top-notch, and the wait staff are friendly and attentive. The prices are well worth it, considering the generous portion sizes and prompt delivery of drinks and meals. I've never had to wait long for my food, and it's always hot and prepared correctly. . The manager should be incredibly proud of their team and the outstanding service they provide. I'm happy to give this place a well-deserved 10/10 - I'll definitely be back!"

Took my mother out for lunch and dined off the set lunch menu (2 course options). There was also the full lunch menu available. We had Blue & Gold blue cod, and Vegetarian Filo (I’m not a vegetarian but they sounded delicious), followed by chocolate mud cake and berry meringue mountain. We were not disappointed by our choices. Always great food and I’ll definitely be coming again when I’m back in Dunedin

The staff were very helpful and assisted us very well. The food was pretty good, just regular pub food in my opinion. I got the fish and chips and it was decent. I actually enjoyed every single drink that we got with the beer flight. Would visit again

Fantastic food and drinks. Our meals arrived quickly and were delicious. Rib-eye steak cooked to perfection. Generous portion sizes and the Salted Caramel White Choc Cheesecake capped it off beautifully. Excellent friendly service. Can be very busy so best to book in advance.

Stopped in for dinner - bartender recommended the lamb shank. Yep, it was amazing. I loved it so much, I returned the next night (in town for business) for the ribeye with mushroom sauce. OH MAN, that was SO delicious too! Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Can't recommend enough.

Great Lunch. Blue code fish and chips was good and the portion size was big. Chicken parmigiana was mouthwatering. Great spot for relaxing and enjoying with friends and family.

Really enjoyed my experience here. The place is pretty big, but it gives off the feeling of being small and cozy due to the way the cafe is laid out. The staff were friendly and quick and the food was pretty incredible. I had the siracha maple friend chicken open sandwich and it was one of the best meals I've had in a while. If I'm back in Dunedin, I'll likely return to this place.

Lovely ambience to this pub that serves triple chocolate craft beer among the many brews available. Limited hot tea & coffee selection though I guess this is a pub! I thought the polenta chips were nice but the small portion size certainly didn't match the price. $3 each for a yummy small crumbed cauliflower & cheese croquette I thought was equally overpriced

Loved going here! Even though it was very busy when we arrived they quickly found us a table (party of 4) which was very comfortable. Service was friendly and efficient. Atmosphere is relaxed and cosy despite the decent size, and I would'nt say it's too cramped. I ordered gluten free seafood chowder which was delicious and creamy, and came with actually nice gluten free bread! What a treat. Nice big portion size and very affordable at only $18 if I remember correctly. Will definitely be going again!

Pequeno Wine & Cocktail Bar, located near the Octagon in Dunedin's Savoy Building, offers a cozy and intimate atmosphere with leather-cushioned chairs, a fireplace, and an extensive cocktail list. It gained attention as the hangout for celebrities during the filming of Sylvia. The bar also features live music on some nights and a good selection of wines.
Absolutely loved this random find down a shifty look alley way. Seems the tucked away places in Dunedin are the best! Amazing cocktail list like nothing I've seen re the combos, at least six pages of yummy. The lychee martini was amazing. Going back after our meal out for more

Great cocktail bar! The service was top notch. Enjoyed sitting at the bar and watching all of the amazing drinks being crafted. The bartender with curly hair was great and recommended some great cocktails. Welcoming bar and cosy vibes. Thanks 🙏
Sarah D — Google review
Really nice bar with wonderful options of cocktails. Loved the Emerald Osis especially Everything went perfect until I ordered a Ramos Gin Fizz when seeing on the menu that classic cocktails that are not listed are also available on request. The bartender seems unfamiliar with the drink but still said yes when I order. I regretted the order as soon as they started the shaking since they looked kinda confused and shocked about how long the shaking process was supposed to be. I’m pretty sure some of the steps were cut or shortened comparing with what I saw before at other bars in making this drink. Result is awful, non-drinkable at all.

We found this place in an ally that was a bit scary to get through but this bar was so posh and the drinks were really yummy and strong! I haven’t been tipsy off a drink in NZ since I moved here, but I got a nice buzz off my emerald drink!

If you're on the hunt for a pizza paradise, look no further than Pizza Bar! This vibrant eatery is a haven for pizza lovers, serving up mouthwatering pies crafted with seasonal ingredients and unique toppings like confit garlic, spicy sausage, and an array of cheeses. The atmosphere buzzes with excitement as patrons sip on trendy negronis while waiting for their delicious orders. One of the coziest spots in Dunedin is right next to the pizza oven—perfect for those chilly evenings!
I walked in and was taken by the beautiful minimalist interior, I had to go straight to the toilet. The walk through Pizza Bar to their toilet was awesome, first impressions of the interior design on fleek. I got to the toilet, I did not expect much, but wow, even the toilets were amazing! Sick hand dryer, great mirror lighting. Anyway, I came back in to appreciate the atmosphere, it was simple and amazing. All The service is attentive, well-paced and friendly! The food arrived, first things it looked stunning. Second, every bite was AMAZING, it is the best pizza I have had - I highly recommend it if you want somewhere to go in Dunedin After the pizza, we couldn’t help but get the Tiramisu - the main meal was so good. Next time I come, I will be getting a cocktail to complement the pizza. After the experience of just the pizza and Tiramisu, I’m almost confident it will be great. Amazing amazing pizza and dessert, the minimalist style was strung together well - leaving a nice feeling over the whole experience. Thank you! We will we back.

The pizza sandwich was delicious and great value—especially with the included drink. Unfortunately, the customer service left a lot to be desired. The staff member who served us (moustache, dark short hair, glasses) didn’t acknowledge my greeting or say a single word during the transaction. It wasn’t until he brought out the order that he spoke, offering a brief description and a half smile. I understand that everyone can have an off day, but basic courtesy—like a simple hello or smile—goes a long way in making customers feel welcome. I hope this feedback helps highlight how important friendly service is, especially when the food itself is worth returning for.

A straightforward pizza place. Good ingredients and done properly on a proper pizza oven. A page of beer options with several locals on tap (all pints). Surprisingly solid cocktails too.

Food was nice and good value. Looks like we got the same server as Angela though… Stood about for 5 minutes at an empty bar. Eventually saunters out from the back, but the only words we managed to get out of him was “paying together?”. Can’t blame them for hiring students in all fairness, but wouldn’t come back nonetheless. I’d kick him off the music as well… tragic.

Tonight was the second time i have come here. I wish there were more places like Pizza Bar in Dunedin! the atmosphere is great, awesome food (took about 15? mins to come out was very busy aswell) and the service is good as well. The vibes are great and the pizzas! holy! so delicious. the spicy pie and the hot sausage pie were great. The hot honey is just perfect! i had the white pizza the previous time i was here and it was good aswell. I haven’t tried cocktails but keen to come back and give those a go.

Honestly the best pizza I’ve had in Aotearoa. The mushroom was next level and the sesame seeds on the white are incredible. Amazing drinks list, fantastic kind staff, easy going venue. Huge fan!
Rachael C — Google review
A decent pizza place in Dunedin, if you're feeling hungry for some, worth checking out. Personally I was a little underwhelmed by the experience. Staff were lovely and all food and drink came out in a timely manner, however didn't really get to enjoy much of the pizzas. Were ordered the sweet corn and mushroom and while both were definitely well cooked (enjoyed the chewy base), the toppings and the sauce tasted slightly bland which was a real shame! Even the Chili oil wasn't very spicy. As above, would be worth checking out and trying (perhaps another base would be better?)

Central bar/cafe with reasonable options for food and drink. Pint night specials on offer some nights. Fries are expensive for a handful, which varies in quality, i.e sometimes under cooked and not crispy. Some bartenders here will short pour pints, while others are fine, based on multiple visits. Table, leaner, streetside options for seating.

Stumbled across this place while visiting Dunedin. Had a variety of different craft beers. Had the rump steak which was cooked very well with a nice butter on top. The salad was fresh and crispy and the dressing was very nice addition. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a nice steak served with a smile.

Service was very good. Fries good and aioli sauce beautiful. However the cheeseburger was not the best. Partner liked the mash potatoes but steak abit rubbery. Could smell urine from the toilets from where we were sitting. Toilets had no locks on the doors in the men's, and no tap handles to turn taps on in women's toilet.

Lovely bartenders but easily the worst cocktail I’ve had in a long time. They charged $22 for a “Jaffa Martini” which tasted like a bit of orange peel in straight ethanol - seriously not drinkable and was left really disappointed. And it was significantly small serving unfortunately. To make the drink worse - the bartender garnished my drink with an orange peel she took out of the pitcher with her fingers after she handled cash merely seconds earlier. Cherry on top - bathroom pretty gross and no toilet paper available. Definitely not impressed and won’t be coming back in a hurry.

Love this place. Came here curiously wanting to try a few cocktails one night with my fiancè. Have visited a few times since then. There's such an extensive range that will meet all pallets. Haven't had a bad one here. Photos are from a few weeks ago - pina colada, polish sunset, key lime and bee's knee's. Service is pretty quick too. Props to this team for that - cocktails can take a bit of extra work. Local turned regular visitor (:

I tend to prefer clubs that support local Dunedin DJ’s/musicians as it provides a much more exciting and enthusiastic crowd, Unfortunately whilst I was there (Saturday night 10pm-1am) almost all the music sounded as if it was being played from a Spotify playlist on a laptop and was WAYYY to loud to even communicate with the others around you (that is unless you like strangers screaming your ear all night :/). They also allow smoking in the dance area so often their breath is not too pleasant. Above all this, I saw a bartender pour out another patrons beer on the dance floor IN FRONT of other customers and did not show any initiative to clean it up whatsoever (I understand it can get rowdy inside nightclubs especially on Saturday’s, but this is unacceptable) it made quite a hazard for others, luckily no one slipped but I feel that was because most people avoided that particular spot for the rest of the night. Unfortunately the food was quite disappointing and very overpriced for what you get. I was still quite surprised by how busy this club was through the night, perhaps the fact people were able to keep coming out of the toilets with bulgy eyes and sniffly noses might have something to do with it. Would not recommend this club for people looking for a nice evening out with Whānau and/or friends and would suggest looking at other clubs within the Octagon/Dunedin.

Sool Dunedin is a vibrant Korean eatery and cocktail bar that promises an unforgettable dining experience. With its lively atmosphere, this spot serves up mouthwatering fried chicken available in various seasonings, alongside a delightful selection of hot pots and stir-fries bursting with flavor. The kimchi soup stands out for its perfect balance of taste—rich and satisfying without being overly sour or spicy.
Authentic Korean food with a great atmosphere. Kimchi soup is balanced in flavour , thick and yummy. Fried chicken with bone...the bone version, personally not for me because I do not enjoy certain parts of the chicken meat. But flavour wise is superb. Will order boneless chicken next time. The side dishes are my favourite...one of the best tried so far and the best part, it could be refilled. On our second visit, we ordered boneless chicken in garlic mayo sauce. Chicken is succulent and tastes good.

This place is my favourite place to go for authentic Korean food now. Fancy being in Dunedin, NZ I have found my favourite Korean restaurant. I love the fried chicken any flavour as they were crisp outside and tender inside. So so yummy! The kimchi soup was so good too. The best that I have tasted so far. Not too sour, spicy or sweet. The owner is a friendly Korean lady, can speak English very well. Quiet and cosy ambience. The price was also reasonable and affordable.

If you're looking for a lively night out in Dunedin, Vivace Karaoke Bar is the place to be! Nestled on Hanover Street, this vibrant venue offers an unforgettable experience filled with laughter and music. The atmosphere is electric, making it easy to let loose and enjoy yourself. While the karaoke machines may have seen better days—some TVs reminiscent of the '90s—the charm of Vivace lies in its nostalgic vibe.
Our experience of Vivace Karakoke Bar was excellent. Really awesome atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. The karaoke machine are super outdated some of the T.V's look like they have come straight out of 1996. I personally think this adds to the whole experience of the place. Some people actually had amazing singing voices. Some and probably most did not..... this Karaoke bar had a massive range of songs to choose from and had a lot of the great hits. I would highly recommend this bar to anyone who wants to have a go at Karakoke. Whether you are good or bad everyone is welcome and encouraged to give it a go. Was a fantastic time and I think it's awesome seeing people really enjoying themselves while they are up on the stage singing their hearts out. Even I'd they can't sing.......... well done team we had a blast.

Had a bad experience last Wednesday evening and felt that management acted in bad faith towards us. Please tread cautiously. We were first charged $50 a room the other night, and then when enquired about 2 microphones, we were told it would be $100. We said we were happy staying in the $50 room and just sharing one microphone between the 3 of us and didn't want to pay more. We said we would stay there thank you anyway. The man told us to follow him into the bigger room with two microphones and we thanked him so much for giving it to us for the same price and made a big deal thanking him. Turned out the second microphone didn't work anyway and cut out. He then came back in a few minutes later demanding the extra money and we were horrified. I talked to him outside the room and left my mum and sister in there saying he had misrepresented, and it wasn't fair. He backed down, and said next time it would be $100 though. This was a really unfair experience as a consumer and we felt really taken advantage of and felt uncomfortable using the venue. Won't be coming back which is a shame as my sister, mother and I used to go lots together. When I messaged the business my feedback it gave us automated message about costs and "up to 4 people is $40 an hour and up to 8 is $50 an hour." There was just 3 of us in a family outing for one hour, and he made up $100 an hour for two microphones, and$50 for 3 people for one hour. They do not act honestly here and try to take advantage of friendly people.
Nikita R — Google review
We called mid week to book a private room for 3 people. The owner saw us walk in with our mum and decided to over charge us by $10 (rooms are normally $40 which we didnt bring up at the time because we thought maybe they upped the price) then he tried to charge us another $50 by putting us in a bigger room at his own accord. We regularly go here and normally would extend our hours in the room - we didn't want to this time after the confrontation of the owner coming into the room asking for an extra $50, next time we will make other plans, don't like getting ripped off.

Very hard to understand when detailing with. Not very good English. Sorry. Perhaps needs to make bookings online rather than the phone. Or hire someone who can understand English better. Disappointed our booking wasn't placed correctly. Then we couldn't have food either. Like I thought we arranged. But we all had a great time singing thanks 😊
Bridgette B — Google review
Showed up slightly late for our booking (which I acknowledge). We were rudely told by the staff that the bar was closed. It appeared that something had happened to distress the staff but there was no excuse for their behaviour when we showed up. We weren’t given a reason and were forced to leave by an extremely rude staff member who treated us like we had done something wrong. If they had calmly explained why they couldn’t honour our booking we would have happily moved on. Instead, we were abused and physically removed from the premises. As long time (and I mean 10+ years) customers of vivace we were really taken aback by the rude and confronting behaviour of tonight.

Pretty average. Sound system has way too much reverb and echo to be able to sing well. One song per drink only.
Craig S — Google review
Rented a private lounge for an hour and that was just long enough for those who wanted to sing to do a couple of songs each. Staff very helpful. Equipment quite dated as was song list. Public bar was not very inviting so we skipped joining the regulars after that. Overall - a bit of a blast from the past and good for a laugh with friends as a one-off.

Love the karaoke! Good music selection. The place itself is ok. Drinks are made using bottled fizz for mixers so wasn't as nice as it could be. We had a really fun night there though!

Nestled just 5km southwest of central Dunedin, Noisy Brewing Company is a delightful gem for beer enthusiasts. This family-run microbrewery has been crafting small batches of innovative and bold beers since its inception in 2018. Head brewer Chris "Noisy" Noyes specializes in dark brews, with standout creations like a milk stout infused with toasted coconut and almonds that have garnered quite the following.
I love a hoppy beer, like the original APA with its citrus, grapefruit notes. Noisy have rebelled from the modern trend of redefining an APA to create a beer not only true to the original style but its bloody epic in taste. If you want a top quality genuine APA fly to Dunedin and try their Crutch Control. Out of 100's of similar beers this one is up there at the top. Go find them and enjoy

This is the best place I’ve ever been, I come here with my fam every Friday and maybe Saturday. Staff are so kind and awesome. Some would say good looking. Great beer, great food. My fans happy place!!!!

It was wet day in Dunedin so decided to go out for a beer and a bite, look no further than Noisy Brewing Company. I got a tasting paddle for $20 and serve of the chipotle cauliflower and some fries. Great beer and good food with a very friendly relaxed atmosphere. I think I need to go back on a sunny day! 🤭 ( LOL in addition I’ve read a couple of other reviews and can assure you my wife enjoyed the space, wasn’t smelly and the artwork was great. We’re in Dunners for a week so will be back!!! )

Great lil spot. Service was very welcoming and friendly. The food was delicious. Really enjoyed the beer too. Only thing is we wished we had more time here before flying home. ❤️ Thanks 🙏

We loved visiting Noisy Brewing, it was very busy when we visited so perhaps booking a table might be an idea. But otherwise great beer and food options, funky interior design and card games to play incase the conversation runs out with whoever you go with. Put favourite was the chap behind the bar, he was super happy, engaging and just an all round joy, we would visit again just for him (the beer was a bonus)

Visited on a recent trip to Dunedin. It was pretty chill on the Sunday afternoon that we went. Definitely enjoyed the beers. A great IPA, and I really enjoyed the American Brown Ale. Will be returning the next time we're in town.

I have tried your tasting tray, it was excellent looking forward to coming back again soon

Came across this brewery just before we moved to Dunedin a few weeks ago. Had a Pale Ale and a hazy IPA delivered today. Very impressed! Great beer! No doubt we're going to be regulars.

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Dunedin, XYZ Bar is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to enjoy an unforgettable night out. This multi-level nightclub offers an eclectic mix of entertainment, including lively karaoke sessions, a dazzling dance floor that lights up with energy, and even a mechanical bull for those seeking adventure.
Little bit of a late review but have been going here for years. Can honestly say one of the best bars/entertainment spots in Dunedin I have been to since moving from the uk. Below are a few amazing cocktails made by the duty manager Logan that I seriously recommend trying. With other staff like, Mackenzie, Cameron and Maddy, you are sure to have an amazing experience 😊😊😊😊

Love love love this bar. Best karaoke in Dunedin and my favorite place to bring friends. Staff are so lovely and friendly. Best customer service I’ve ever experienced. The Manager Logan pours the most delicious cocktails. Ask him to make you a drink of the month you won’t regret it!!

Especially if Logan is your server - he will make the perfect drink for you and make sure you have a great time. Had lots of good laughs here.

We had such a wonderful night as a group of 12. We did the cocktail making class followed by karaoke. It was so fun we ended up paying for An extra hour. Definitely will recommend to other friends and family
Polly M — Google review
Had the absolute best customer service from Logan (number 1 employee). Excellent customer service skills, inviting and incredibly warming. Never experienced customer service like this before. Please give Logan a raise. We need more Logan’s in this world!!
