Bright Angel Lodge is a historic accommodation located in Grand Canyon Village, offering rustic rooms with modern amenities such as TVs and private baths. The lodge also features surrounding cabins and historically significant structures available as guest accommodations. Conveniently situated near popular attractions like Bright Angel Trailhead and Grand Canyon Railway, the lodge provides easy access to the natural wonders of the area. Guests can enjoy on-site dining options, complimentary wireless internet access, tour assistance, and a picnic area.
Stayed in a basic, cute cabin( no fireplace or view) at bright angel. Great location-5’ walk to the rim and also eating. Parking was handy. The parks service has done an amazing job with keeping things up to date, but in keeping with the atmosphere.Every employee was friendly and patiently helpful and I think happy to be working there!!

Location, location, location! That gives this place 5 stars. We stayed in the Powell lodge. This isn’t a 4 star fancy place. But you are literally steps away from the rim. Like 15-20 steps. Depending what room, even closer. There are some rooms that do not have a bathroom in the room so you are sharing, we had an in room bathroom. There is no AC. We are here in October and thought it would be good. It got stuffy at night but you can open the window. There were also no TVs in the rooms we had but we didn’t need it. We were not in the room much. We ate at the cafe onsite twice which was surprising pretty good.

Staying at the Bright Angel Lodge was truly incredible. It is literally at the South Rim! Because we stayed here, we were able to see the sunset, stars, and sunrise over the Grand Canyon. Had to get up early for the sunrise, but it was truly one of the most magical, stunning experiences of my life. I was also pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room and amenities, and by the accessibility of the South Rim Trail. 10/10, have every intention of staying here again.

I just returned from a trip visiting the south rim of the Grand Canyon and I had reserved 2 rooms in the Bright Angel Lodge last year. Much to my surprise, we were in one of the smaller cabins which was just steps to the rim trail. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. We had some delicious dinner food and drinks in the Harvey House bar and we used the shuttle service that was close by. It was a great experience and will hopefully have another chance to return.

THIS is the place to stay when visiting the Grand Canyon. Cabins are nothing fancy, but quaint, clean and cozy. You walk out your door and to the Canyon rim in 30 seconds. Unbelievable! Very nice people, good food in the restaurant, well designed shuttle services. We enjoyed out stay very much.
Samantha R — Google review
Simple, comfortable rooms with a great location close to the Bright Angel Trail. We stayed in the Buckey Lodge in a double queen room with private bathroom and were surprisingly pleased. Didn’t know what to expect from a lodge, but we were happy with the cleanliness and convenience. You can even stargaze right from the parking lot, with the entire Milky Way visible at night. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Uday K — Google review
Our stay at Bright Angel Lodge was absolutely sublime! Right outside our window was the most stunning view of the Grand Canyon and we could just walk outside to walk the south rim. Breakfast at Harvey House was delicious and all staff were friendly and welcoming.

Stayed at few nights in one of the cabins on the South rim of the Grand Canyon. Rooms were rustic and very comfortable. Enjoyed relaxing on the covered porch in the wooden chairs and benches located just outside the room's door.

Phantom Ranch is a rustic accommodation located below the Canyon rim, offering cabins and dorms in a stone lodge. The canteen provides meals for visitors. The national park offers various options, including the remote North Rim, the more crowded South Rim, and attractions like Phantom Ranch and the Colorado River. Boating trips are popular on the river. Additionally, parts of the canyon are within Indian reservations such as Havasupai Indian Reservation and Hualapai Indian Reservation.
Phantom Ranch did not disappoint! You can t ask for a more beautiful, tranquil setting! The cabins were adorable and functional. The food was ample and satisfying- make sure you reserve your meals in advance. The staff were friendly and helpful. Staying here is a great reward for the hike.
Katey P — Google review
First of all, 5 stars to the actual Phantom Ranch camp, Canteen, and staff! The cabin was adorable and complete with your own toilet and sink, the food was decent, and the staff was very friendly and hospitable. That being said, I was very unimpressed with the lack of information available to prepare for your trek to the Phantom Ranch. You can’t call the people who actually work/live at the Phantom Ranch- you can only talk to the reservations employees. There’s a phone number you can call to book the reservation, and there’s a separate number for confirming your reservation two days in advance. I called these numbers at least ten times in the weeks leading up to my trip with questions as I was preparing, and despite having talked to multiple different people, no one seemed to have any answers. I’d have to push them to maybe put me on hold and find out instead of just taking their response of “I don’t know.” Oftentimes the answer was “you’ll have to ask them when you get there.” I can understand that people taking reservations wouldn’t know everything, but given that people literally die in the heat of the inner rim, it would be nice if there was a way to get these questions answered ahead of time. Having now travelled to Phantom Ranch and back, here are the things you should know. 1. The cabins are great! Air conditioning works well, and each room has a toilet and sink. Showers are communal and located near the canteen. Beds were far more comfortable than expected, especially after a grueling hike. 2. Duffel service via mule is nice, but make sure you understand the booking! We assumed one duffel per person came with our reservation. Turns out, each bag needs a separate itinerary number, so we had to combine two bags into one and leave items behind. Also, it might not be worth paying for a return mule—our return bag was mostly dirty clothes. $90 to save a few pounds didn’t feel totally worth it. 3. Cold storage tip: Have them put a note on your duffel to refrigerate it. I sent down frozen Gatorade and it was still cold enough the next morning for the hike back up. 4. Skip the sack lunch. At $35, it’s just a collection of canteen snacks (frozen bagel with PB&J, apple, peanuts, jerky, etc.). You could easily assemble the same for half the cost, and better tailored to your preferences. 5. Their “early” breakfast is too late. The inner canyon temperatures are high enough that rangers panic and scare you and make you think you’re going to die if you leave the Phantom Ranch later than 4 AM, yet the earliest you can get breakfast is 5 AM. So skip paying for breakfast if you need to leave earlier than that. 6. Dinner was decent. We had the steak dinner at 5 PM (family-style). It was nice to chat with other hikers and swap advice. They also offer stew at 6:30 PM. 7. Plan your downtime. We arrived by 8:45 AM but couldn’t check in until 11:30. It was over 100°F by then, and though we considered hiking to Ribbon Falls, it’s 13 miles round trip, and we didn’t want to over do it. We cooled off in the creek and relaxed in the canteen instead. Next time, we’d stay two nights—hike down day one, visit Ribbon Falls day two, hike out day three. 8. The lemonade is touted as legendary—but it’s just Minute Maid. 😂 Don’t get me wrong, the first ~$16 spent on lemonade were worth it! First cup is $6.75, but you get $1 refills if you keep the cup. Despite the lack of accessible prep info, Phantom Ranch is an unforgettable experience. The rustic charm, the oasis-like setting, and the hardworking, kind staff made it special. Just go in as prepared as you can—and hopefully this review helps fill in the gaps!
Rosie J — Google review
We stayed in a private cabin at in July and it was a nifty experience. Accommodations are rustic. Food and lemonade are amazing after the trek in. If you check every morning for reservations, you will almost certainly get the dates you want. I have made reservations for three different private cabins and been able to secure North Rim lodging, Phantom cabin, and South Rim lodging in sequence each time. I never have in the lottery, but diligence pays off. It was worth the morning ritual to stay in what must be one of the most exclusive accommodation in the United States. In summer it is imperative to drink electrolytes and consume salt while timing arrival before 11am and departure immediately after picking up breakfast/lunch sack. The box is dangerously hot in the day. And the final climb out can start getting pretty warm by noon. Do not underestimate summer temps.
Amy S — Google review
I love visiting Phantom Ranch every time I go. The location and setting are otherworldly, dramatic, and striking. At the same time, it is beautiful and peaceful, rugged, and rustic. Experiencing such a place in this way is a rare treat. All that said, there is a lot of room for improvement down there in the maintenance and overall appearance of the place. There are piles of random junk and half finished or never finished projects all over the place. Random hoses and wires should be hidden, and the things that need to be there should be organized and stored in a way that looks good and not like a redneck trailer park.
Kent L — Google review
Staying at Phantom Ranch was an unforgettable experience and the perfect reward after the challenging hike into the Grand Canyon. The cabin we stayed in was cozy and welcoming, with a surprisingly comfortable bed—exactly what we needed after hours of trekking through the canyon’s rugged terrain. There’s something deeply comforting about settling into a warm room surrounded by the peaceful sounds of nature after such an epic journey. We opted for the steak dinner, and it did not disappoint! Meals are served family-style in the canteen, which adds such a special touch to the experience. Sitting around a table with fellow hikers from all over the world, sharing stories, laughter, and a delicious meal, created a strong sense of community and connection. It’s amazing how a shared love for adventure can bring strangers together so easily. The food was fantastic—hearty, flavorful, and satisfying. But the real star? The lemonade! Hands down, the best lemonade I’ve ever tasted. It’s refreshing and hits just right after a long day on the trail. And of course, the views are absolutely breathtaking. From sunrise to starlit skies, Phantom Ranch offers some of the most spectacular and serene scenery you can imagine. It’s a peaceful oasis that allows you to disconnect from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with nature in a deep and meaningful way. If you’re considering hiking the Grand Canyon, I can’t recommend staying at Phantom Ranch enough. It’s not just a place to rest—it’s an experience that stays with you forever.
Jessica T — Google review
This was by far one of the coolest experiences I ever had in 2021. Getting to stay at the bottom of the Grand Canyon look at it from the bottom and hang out in a really cool pasture was unbelievable. I’ll never forget this.
Harison G — Google review
If I could give 10/5 stars for service, I would. The staff were so nice and helpful for our backpacking group. We were in a bit of distress since a member of our party was injured, and the staff helped us use their phone to call a shuttle to get us at the North Rim, plus they helped us fix a broken hiking pole. They were kind enough to give us extra tape, which was a lifesaver when another hiking pole broke when we were about to ascend the North Rim. Romey gave us amazing words of encouragement to get up the North Rim: “Don’t just stare at the mountain in front of you - make sure to turn around and be proud of what you’ve done” - these words were what helped us make it out. Amazing place!

We had a lovely time at Phantom Ranch! My friends and I successfully completed a R2R hike with a surprise overnight at Phantom! The amenities were great and we loved the stew dinner!

Yavapai Lodge is the largest lodge in Grand Canyon Village, conveniently located near the South Rim. The property offers comfortable and budget-friendly rooms with modern amenities. Guests can enjoy a variety of dining options including Southwestern fare, classic dishes, and grab-and-go food at the coffee shop. The lodge's central location provides easy access to nearby facilities and shuttle bus stops for convenient exploration of the area.
Very enjoyable stay at Yavapai Lodge. We stayed two nights in mid October in the west block. We checked in after watching the sunset at Mather Point and there was no wait. The staff was friendly and polite. The west block was super quiet and the parking is very convenient, right close to the room. The outside lights were very dim at night; we needed our phone light to find the trail to the tavern/cafeteria. There is a shuttle stop right there, which makes it very easy to go from point A to point B without having to worry about parking. The room seemed "renovated", except the bathroom. There was little to no space for our toiletries. Other than that, no complains. We would return. We booked through Hotels.com and saved approximately $100 CAD/night.
JF P — Google review
Our experience at the Park and at the Lodge in general was great. We really enjoyed the park during our stay. However, I have to point something about our room, not as a critic but something that would make the place more enjoyable. We stayed at room 7104 and since we opened the door, a strong odor pops out and remained during our night stay. We believe it was the carpet so it could be easily resolved with a deep clean. That little change will make this place even better.
Carlos R — Google review
My wife and I stayed at the lodge for two nights in October, 2025. We initially had some trouble checking in and had to switch rooms but Kim came to the rescue and did a GREAT job helping us. The area around the lodge is very convenient with the store, the post office, the dining options, and the shuttle bus stops. The drive to the Bright Angel Trail, which I was hiking early was very easy to get to. We did see some cob webs in the ceiling corners but the room was very adequate and the coffee maker worked great. The whole experience was actually better than expected, except for those initial problems.

Enjoyed a 1 night stay with a group of friends. Check in was easy and the self serve kiosk helped us skip a longer line at the front desk. Food in the tavern and dining hall was convenient and staff was super nice! We loved the hot chocolate after watching the sunrise at Yavapai Point. We also loved how close we were to major viewpoints and that we were actually inside the National Park. The room was comfortable and the bathroom amenities were decent. No issues with noise, cleanliness, or staff. Would 100% return for future trips! Next time I hope we get to stay a little longer.

Perfect place to stay to visit the Grand Canyon. Internet worked great, rooms were clean and comfortable. Had a frig for my granddaughters special food. Right nearby is a regular little grocery store. The staff was extremely helpful. It is so nice to be able to just swing by the lodge to get lunch or to even rest a bit without leaving the park
Barbara B — Google review
I had family coming in to Arizona for the first time, and they wanted to see the grand canyon. We decided to stay on site so we could see the sunrise. When we checked in, we got the most unique key card; it looked like a piece of wood. The room was nothing special. Bed and bathroom. Only big issue was there was no hand soap in the dispenser. The sink height was not fun to work with. I'm a 5'9" male and the countertop came to my hips. Beds were quite comfy and the added mini fridge was a nice perk. The lodge has a nice breakfast buffet for around $20. Eggs, breakfast meats, fried apples, and all your major breakfast staples. Overall, a nice place to lay your head if you're exploring the south rim.
Shawn L — Google review
The main advantage of Yavapai lodge is that it's right in the middle of the Grand Canyon area, so you don't have to drive an hour to and from the national park to begin your exploration. This benefit has its price though, as the hotel was about 60% more expensive that similar category accomodation elsewhere in the region. Still, the location was worth it. The room itself was OK, with the carpet a little bit on the dirty side, and the washbasin (sink) in the bathroom almost falling off the wall. But the beds were clean and comfortable, and the fridge and coffee maker were a nice touch. Check in and check out was unfortunately quite slow due to large queues.
Xevronixussor C — Google review
Spacious, clean, rustic rooms. Could use some updating, especially the bathroom sink was really low and the floors were quite squeaky, but can’t beat the location and price. Stayed at the East Lodge facing the forest and saw several Elk outside our window! We opted to stay here instead of the village to be away from people. It is a further walk to the rim trail, about 10-15 minutes, but there is a shuttle bus nearby. Its in the middle of the woods which is what we prefer. Suggest to bring flashlights as there are very few lights at night and the tavern and lodge is a few minutes walk. As mentioned the floors are very squeaky and we could hear the people walking upstairs so would opt for a second floor room next time.

Maswik Lodge offers casual rooms in a laid-back complex, featuring amenities like minifridges and coffeemakers, as well as a cafeteria and a pub. It's an ideal choice for families looking for budget-friendly accommodations near the South Rim, Bright Angel Trail, and transportation hub. Nestled amidst ponderosa pine forest, it provides a more relaxed experience compared to other lodges in Grand Canyon Village.
Staying at the Maswik Lodge was a wonderful time. The air-conditioned, large room was a two queen, ADA equipped with a refrigerator. It had an extra sink outside the bathroom which was helpful. We were on the first floor and handicapped parking was right outside. Everything was clean, neat, organized and comfortable. Outside, we saw a mother deer and fawn, elk, mules, and squirrels while in the National Park. Also, we saw the Milky Way stars at night, walked along the Grand Canyon South Rim, and went on the Sunset Bus Tour. The first evening we had an excellent dinner at the El Tovar dinning room. Then we had very great tasty pizza and drinks at the Maswik Pizza Pub/Bar.

We only stayed one night but had a great experience. The room was bigger than expected for a double and felt clean. This place seems like the best value in the village and is super convenient. The food at the hotel was mediocre but we didn’t exactly go for the food. We didn’t have any complaints. Staff was helpful and friendly. The property is incredibly dark at night but still felt safe, you can see the stars very easily which was something we wanted to see after being in the city.

I paid extra for a kitchenette due to the accurate reviews and warnings of previous guests regarding the quality and price for meal options in the Grand Canyon Village. To be fair, having civilization in an area not suitable for sustaining over 4 million visitors - is a daunting task and a modern, yet fragile, miracle. Here’s my complaint: because you are several hours round trip to the nearest retailer, Xanterra should provide 3 things for guests 1) fully equip the kitchenettes in a uniform manner 2) provide guests with a detailed equipment list for each kitchenette 3) provide guests with required utensils etc if they are missing from the kitchenette. We walked into a situation where we could almost make do with what was available. But I believe they default to the attitude of “we have a geographic monopoly on your options, take it or go pound sand!” I would have gladly given a higher rating if it wasn’t for this kitchenette mystery. Xanterra should strive for a higher standard of service rather than default to the lowest common denominator. Plan on 2.5 day visit with 2 night stay. Go to the watchtower on the east side (45 minute drive/24 miles) 1 hour prior to sunrise. Experience first light & sunrise at the watchtower. Stay long enough to explore the interior and views of the watchtower. Take an additional 3 hours to double back and stop at the 10 or so overlook locations as you return to the Grand Canyon Village for lunch and a much deserved nap. Take the sunset bus tour in the late afternoon to witness the west side overlook areas! This tour is about $40 and well worth the effort. (Except for renting bicycles, the only way to explore the western side is via bus! Private vehicles are not allowed.) You can sign up for the sunset tour when you make your room reservations.

We had an issue with our shower but maintenance came very quickly and it was repaired in no time. Room was comfortable and location is excellent! Easy 5 minute walk to a view of the Grand Canyon. Also same walk takes you to a free bus system where multiple views are easily accessed. Highly recommend this hotel!

Perfect location if you are planning to do the hike since it’s close to bright Angel trailhead and backcountry office. We stayed at the Maswik South rooms which are newly updated, clean and spacious. Not close to the rim like the other lodges but it’s less than 10 min walk. Food court was okay, convenient for a quick meal and snacks. We walked in at the El Tovar dining room for lunch around 12pm, food was good and nice scenery during the day.

My son and I stayed at Maswik Lodge and we were very impressed with the rooms, even though it's a 2-star hotel. The rooms are large and very comfortable. The location of the lodge is great as well. Staying in the park is important as you can walk or take a shuttle bus to most everything you want to do without having to drive. Maswik exceeded our expectations!

We had a great stay. Newer updated room. Food at the lodge was eh, but the pizza at the pub was great! We ate dinner one night at El Tovar, which was delicious. No views of the canyon, though. Easy walk to the village area and shuttles. We stayed in the Trilobite building.

Amazing experience being able to walk to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Was also able to walk to get all meals and the food was actually really good considering it’s made for so many tourists! Thunderbird Lodge is a 1960s lodging nestled in the Grand Canyon Village Historic District, offering simple rooms with modern amenities such as free Wi-Fi and parking. The lodge provides easy access to the Bright Angel Trail Head and the 12.8-mile Rim Trail, allowing guests to explore attractions like the Trail View Overlook and Yavapai Geology Museum.
The service all around is impeccable. From the phone reservations, follow up questions and modifications, the tour check in process, Harvey house service staff and snack bar service staff. The location is of course unmatched. Rooms are nothing fancy with few amenities. But they’re clean and comfortable and serve the basic purpose of visiting the Grand Canyon and being right next to everything. We wouldn’t have seen the sunrise, the big horn sheep on the cliff side, or been able to coordinate 2 different itineraries for our group, without being on site.

Unforgettable stay right on the South Rim! Thunderbird Lodge is everything you'd hope for in a Grand Canyon experience... peaceful, convenient, and just steps from some of the most breathtaking views on Earth. The room was clean and comfortable, and we loved how close it was to the Rim Trail and main viewpoints. Waking up and having coffee while looking out over the canyon felt like a dream. The staff were kind and helpful, and check-in was easy. If you're visiting the South Rim, this is the perfect place to stay, simple, scenic, and absolutely worth it.

I was pleasantly surprised by Thunderbird Lodge. I expected more of a roadside motel situation, but it was definitely nicer than I had hoped. Plenty of space for up to 4 people, though the person sleeping next to the window had to shimmy to the end of the bed to get out comfortably. Not a problem for us, but if you have 4 people who might have mobility limitations, that would be an issue. They could move the beds a little closer to the nightstand to make more space. It's an older building but more outlets near the bed would also be nice, as we all have phones, plus one person has a C-PAP device to plug in; I travel with a little extension cord so it worked out. The staff could take an extra minute to wipe down the sides of the refillable soap, shampoo, conditioner bottles though.

This hotel has an excellent location and strong potential, but it is in need of a full renovation to match the price point. The property feels dated, with a musty atmosphere throughout, and although some updates have been made to the bedding, the mattresses and linens were not especially comfortable. The bathrooms are very small with limited counter space, a shower head that my 5’4 self reached and my 6’3 husband had to bend over to use, a door that hits right at the toilet and blocks the toilet paper when open (which you want because the bathroom is so small and dark), and the hairdryer was quite outdated. Accessibility could also be improved, as there are many stairs, limited parking, and no accommodations for guests with mobility needs. In addition, the Wi-Fi was very slow during my stay. With updates, this hotel could be a wonderful option, but at the current rates, it does not provide good value for the cost.
Leandra S — Google review
Great room, very affordable for being right on the South Rim, steps from the edge. Gorgeous view out our room window. Clean room with everything working fine. Near the shuttle transportation as well as some great restaurants (El Tovar and Arizona Steakhouse were where we ate). Would highly recommend.

Stayed 4 nights at Thunderbird Lodge with a nice view of the Grand Canyon from our room. Central to everything we wanted to do. Will happily stay here again on our next trip.
Gordon S — Google review
Thunderbird Lodge is in a spectacular location, with plenty of paved paths around the rim, as well as food and gift shop items. The motorcoach tour was excellent and allowed for multiple opportunities for viewing the canyon from different angles in addition to the local wildlife. Rooms were dated but that is to be expected for an historical sight. However, no complaints about cleanliness and amenities. Deedee at the activities counter and Rich who kindly helped us with our luggage to the second floor were excellent representatives for the property. If we ever have the chance to visit the Grand Canyon again, we will definitely be staying here! P.s. If you're going in July you may want to bring a small fan to supplement the air conditioning in the rooms.

The rooms are super clean all staff at restaurants, shuttles etc are super friendly. However, the front desk is nasty. We had more than one staff that was very rude to us. They acted like we were bothering them with questions.

Lodge
Kachina Lodge is a relaxed and contemporary lodging option located right on the edge of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. The lodge offers comfortable rooms with modern amenities such as flat-screen TVs, minifridges, and Keurig coffeemakers. Many rooms provide unobstructed views of the canyon, allowing guests to take in breathtaking scenery. Situated in the historic district, it offers easy access to restaurants, shops, and the Bright Angel Trailhead.
Well maintained and you can't beat the location! Walking out at all hours of the day or night to see the views and the stars was phenomenal. The staff were so friendly. The room was clean. The beds were comfy. The food at the restaurants was great and the views and nostalgia were awesome! So convenient to everything. We went end of August and the weather was awesome and there were no crowds! Only complaint- add a microwave somewhere!
Amanda C — Google review
You are paying for the incredibly convenient location here - and, if you get one of the canyon-facing rooms, you're also paying for the view (though the view from the first floor rooms is actually pretty limited). The building and rooms are pretty dated. Nevertheless it was a great base camp for our family vacation to Grand Canyon, with everything in the area a short walk or shuttle ride away.
Michael F — Google review
The rooms are basic, but certainly good enough. What is beyond amazing is the location and our Canyon side view. Having such easy access to grab a coffee and walk the rim trail first thing in the morning to watching the stars twinkle in the still beautiful sky at night. You cannot beat the location for the money!
Kortni S — Google review
The canyon view from our room was the best part of this place. The AC worked and the sheets were clean, so no complaints there, but this place needs MAJOR updating and renovations. Room felt small, dark, and just overall drab. Bathroom wasn’t much better. There was a weird smell too in this hotel and room which we couldn’t place…. Also was overpriced - you’re definitely paying for location and being along the rim. We stayed at the Venetian in Vegas the next night and still can’t believe our suite was over $100 cheaper than what we paid for at this place! NOTE: Check-in was next door at El Tovar and staff was very nice. She told me parking is extremely limited and hard to find since it’s all public parking and if we found a spot to stay there and just walk to Kachina which was next door. Not a bad walk but a little awkward carrying lots of luggage and passing next to people walking the rim trail lol.
Barb V — Google review
The website said that there was a bellboy to help with luggage, but we had to flag down two different employees before one arrived. We still had to carry some of our own stuff. Like everyone else has stated, the rooms are dated. While comfortable, the beds sheets/covers are uncomfortable and I sweated all night. Room service was horrible. The maid didn't give us nee towels, I had to remind her to take out the trash, and nothing was wiped down. We did enjoy the view since we were facing the canyon. Will definitely be staying at another hotel when visiting again.
Paulina W — Google review
Total Dissapointment! The location of Kachina Lodge is absolutely fantastic — you can’t beat being right on the rim of the Grand Canyon. Unfortunately, the rooms do not live up to the setting, especially for the price. Ours was very dirty, with a layer of dust everywhere, chipped paint, slimy wall plates, bleach marks and holes in the bedspread cover, sticky film on the dresser, top and table, stained walls and doors. When I went to use the in-room coffee pot, it was so filthy it was unusable. This isn’t about the property being old — it’s about poor maintenance and cleanliness. The surroundings outside are breathtaking, but inside was a huge disappointment. On our next trip, we’ll enjoy the Grand Canyon again but will definitely choose a different hotel.
Ilena V — Google review
This wonderful hotel was located right within the Grand Canyon national Park, and on the edge of the south rim. We had a fantastic view from the moment we checked in and got to see the sunrise. The hotel is updated and was very comfortable. I would stay here again!
Audrey S — Google review
Kachina Lodge location is very convenient with very close access to dining, lounge and outdoor activities. The rooms are well maintained. Canyon view rooms are amazing.

Nestled within the breathtaking landscapes of the Grand Canyon, the Grand Canyon Lodge - North Rim offers a unique rustic experience for travelers seeking adventure and comfort. This charming lodge is conveniently located just steps from the North Rim Visitor Center, making it an ideal base for exploring nearby attractions like hiking trails and mule rides. Guests can choose from cozy motel rooms or private cabins set amidst a serene forest environment along the canyon's edge.
After several visits to the South Rim, we found the North Rim to be so much more our relaxed style. The Grand Canyon Lodge was a wonderful place to stay and much more budget friendly than any hotel on the southern rim. And it is on the RIM! With great views and a friendly staff. We found the food to be okay, not great. We stayed in a cabin and it was quite comfortable, clean and felt rustic, but really wasn't. And the drive in was long, but so beautiful. We plan to return and stay longer next time.
Mike H — Google review
The views from the lodge are breathtaking. The staff are friendly and helpful. The cabins are adorable and everything is very clean. The food is excellent. Mitch was my server for breakfast two days and he is amazing. Mitch is very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. I give him a 10/10. The mule ride was so fun!

4.5 stars. Location is unbeatable. The lodge is in one of the most spectacular settings in the world. Lodge dining is pretty decent for a national park and especially given its remote location. The cabins are almost a hundred years old, but are clean and functional. The advantage of staying on the rim is that you get to enjoy the surroundings across the entire day— sunrises, sunsets, stargazing, afternoon thunderstorms. Don’t miss it.
Dell B — Google review
This is a beautiful lodge with panoramic views of the canyon. The restaurant is nice and the staff at our visit was friendly. The food was good. It’s a little pricey but it’s the only option in the area and was expected. Make reservations in advance to get a table for dinner. The cabin we stayed in was perfect for our needs. The overall surrounding property of the park cabins, and lodge is well taken care of, clean, and has many trails and paths with beautiful views. Highly recommend!
Angela E — Google review
We had a great time at North Rim in our cabin at Grand Canyon Lodge. I made my reservation a year in advance and tried for a partial view western cabin and boy did we get it. I would say cabin 320 probably has the nicest view from the porch in the whole park. The only downside with that view was everyone else coming by to check it out. We stayed 2 nights after staying 3 nights on the south rim. I would say this a great way to get a fuller experience of grand canyon. Everything feels so different on north rim. The pines, pine fresh air, and bison herd really sets it apart. Less people everywhere and it feels more like a historic campground than a polished resort. My favorite part was the saloon where you can order a drink and enjoy it anywhere on the grounds. My wife and I enjoyed sipping our prickly pear margaritas on our porch after the kids went to bed. However there were some negatives. Our cabin definitely had mice. I was noticing reviewers mentioning this but it seemed the western cabins may have been safe, however that was not the case for us as they got into some of our food and there were plenty of droppings around the mini fridge and coffee pot area when we woke up each morning. This didn't phase us much but it could certainly be a problem for others. Still the cabin did match up with the pictures and looked very impressive We did reserve a table for dinner one night and it was fine, although maybe not at the level of quality for the price. We ordered the ribeye which was not cooked correctly. My wife ordered medium-rare which came out well done, barely red in the center. My steak was supposed to be medium and almost no red in the center. They still tasted good, just kinda not worth the almost $50 price tag. The service we received was exceptional. The porter played a game with our kids while we were loading and unloading. The bartender at the saloon was pleasant to talk to, even tho she thinks her Springfield is better ;) and the park staff did a very great and thorough job swearing in our kids as junior rangers after they filled out their books.
Jeff B — Google review
We recently stayed at the Grand Canyon North Rim Lodge and, while we did run into an unexpected issue during our stay, I have to say the customer service was absolutely exceptional. The lodge manager went above and beyond to make things right, handling everything with kindness, professionalism, and genuine care. It's rare these days to see that level of follow-through, and it truly made all the difference. The location is, of course, stunning — and thanks to the way our concern was handled, we left feeling cared for and grateful. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again!
Lisa K — Google review
What an amazing experience to see the sunset and sunrise from this lodge. We had such a wonderful stay and highly recommend this side of the canyon! Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the fire and we hope that you get to rebuild bigger and better! Will definitely be back once everything is cleaned up and rebuild. We are all thinking of you!
Luisa H — Google review
The young people on staff were the highlight of the trip, especially in the deli! We stayed in the motel and were disappointed- no data/service, NO AC, no outlets near the bed, paper thin walls, and wall-mounted hair dryer did not work. There's no privacy as everyone has to have their windows open due to lack of AC, luckily our neighbors were super friendly. The older woman who helped us check in was not kind and would snap at her coworkers in front of us. Great location, super hit or miss service, meh rooms.

The Grand Canyon's South Rim is a pet-friendly destination with plenty of trails and pet-friendly lodging. There's also a kennel available for pets to spend the day while you explore areas where they aren't allowed. The cost of entry is reasonable, and there are options for annual passes. It can get crowded, so arriving early is recommended. Visitors suggest making restaurant reservations in advance due to high demand.
Awesome, of course. The walkway at Mathers point behind the visitors center from the south entrance is great and easy way to see a lot of the scenic overlooks. The grocery store in the park is expensive. The shuttle buses are a great addition, too. Be sure to google and see if they are having their night star gazing with interpreters pointing out constellations. That was a great bonus activitiy.
Meda W — Google review
I don't think we should even be able to rate something like the Grand Canyon. What is there to say? It's absolutely huge and gorgeous. The south rim is a dog friendly paved trail! Highly recommend going to the south rim if you're traveling with a dog. Tons of overlook pulloffs as well. I was so happy to see Elk as well!! A herd of 15!
Kae S — Google review
We visited 2 days in a row. The cost was reasonable. You pay by car load. We bought a senior pass for all National Parks for a year and it was $20. No charge for the second day obviously. If I remember right it was $17 for a car for 3 days without a pass but I can't guarantee it. The first day we got there around noon. It was an hour wait to get in the gate. The second day we drove right in at about 8:30 am. Both days the Visitor Center area was packed. You could barely get to the Rim. Once there you had to wait to get a clear shot. Don't get me wrong, do it if it's what you can do. I was shocked that all across the top of the rim was asphalt trails and it made for much easier walking. It was relatively easy to get to the rim at the Visitor Center area and handicap accessible. I had flown over the Canyon a few times, I'd seen lots of pictures. When you look over the rim of it the first time.... it will take your breath away. I've traveled to a lot of beautiful places, this was truly awe inspiring. So glad I could check it off my bucket list while I was still pretty mobile. The second day, we drove on past the visitor center. We found an empty parking lot and a sign that said 'To Rim'. We had a bottle of water apiece and set off UP the trail. I hadn't realized we were at 7,400 ft or so until we started a steady climb. My husband and I are in our mid 60's and after about 20 minutes of a steady up grade he was ready to turn back. I talked him into a few more yards and we saw the opening in the trees. We walked out of the trees and we were totally alone with the Canyon. We almost cried because it was so incredibly beautiful. We spent about 2 hours walking the edge of the rim. We maybe saw 6 people.
Pam T — Google review
An amazing wonder of nature, well worth visiting - book a few days if you can as there's so much to see and experience. We hiked the Bright Angel Trail but be careful as it was scorching hot! A hat, sunscreen and plenty of water is essential.
Darren E — Google review
Pictures do it no justice. You must experience the beautiful landscape for yourself. These shots start from Hermits Rest to Desert View Watchtower. We explored most of the viewpoints in between with a stop at the Grand Canyon Village Market. Which has everything you need from food to camping gear. It took us roughly 6 hours we wanted to spend more time but it was 15° that day. All in all it was a truly a trip of a life time.
Jared A — Google review
Grand Canyon is a MUST see at least once in your life. Stunning views as if it were God’s painting! Pictures do not do it justice by any means but if you love national parks as much as me definitely put this on your list and get a park pass for a year to hit up as many parks as you can! The world is a beautiful place for those adventurous people!!!!!!
Alyssa W — Google review
The National Parks in our country is one of the most under valued organizations. The Grand Canyon is absolutely stunning any time of year at any time of day. Words cannot express how amazing it truly is to have something like the Grand Canyon.
Cara R — Google review
My parents and my brother visited us. They wanted to see the Grand Canyon since it’s few hours away from our house. It was beautiful day sunny and cool breeze. We’ve been there twice now and I still love going there to hike and see the beauty of nature. We saw an Elk on the side of the street and then they show up in the parking lot. Also, they cross on the road and that’s why I’m calling all the drivers. Please don’t drive too fast be careful to an Elk and other animals that are crossing the road. Too bad they missed to see the Dessert view and we drove like 25miles from visitor center and we didn’t see the Dessert View building because they close it. I hope next time they should put a sign that it’s close so that we don’t need to go up there and see it. But anyways, We will definitely coming back and we will never get tired looking a breathe taking views.😍😍

Nestled within the North Kaibab National Forest, about five miles from the northern entrance of Grand Canyon National Park, Kaibab Lodge offers a serene retreat. Originally a cattle ranch dating back to 1927, it now provides rustic cabins and a relaxed atmosphere away from the bustling tourist spots. The lodge sits at an elevation of 8,770 feet and is praised for its tranquil setting where guests can spot wildlife like deer.
Beautiful view from our cabin. We would watch the deer every morning and evening, then enjoy the spectacular blanket of stars. A short drive to the North Rim entrance to the Grand Canyon. Betty, the concierge, is fantastic. She was cordial, courteous, professional and pleasant. The entire staff was most helpful. We will definitely be back.
Syl L — Google review
The location being 30 minutes from the North Rim is fairly convenient. That's about the end of a positive review. The lodge advertises internet but in fact, it's only in the main lodge, not in any of the cabins. The furnaces in both of the cabins we rented did not function at all. When we notified the front desk we were provided one space heater for each cabin and we're told the maintenance man was on the property but he never stopped by during our two night stay. The only place to hang up coats, clothes etc was with 4 flimsy hangers in an otherwise enormous closet. Mice are a problem. We were able to trap one our last night there. Don't plan to cook in the cabins with only mini fridge and microwave. There are no horizontal surfaces, sink (other than the bath vanity) and food scraps should not be placed in the tiny, uncovered waste basket - because of the mice. We couldn't find any outside garbage cans other than one at the main lodge. All the posted signage seems more intended to keep the facility in good condition rather than to provide a pleasant experience for guests. The owners need a class on Hospitality 101

Lovely area, quiet while we were there. Staff were friendly and very helpful. So glad this place was spared during the wildfire. Thanks to Forest Service hotshot crews and all of the wildland firefighters. This is the perfect place to stay if you want to enjoy or hike the Grand Canyon. They will do their best to accommodate you. Will stay here again.
RN X — Google review
We stayed here in later part on June 2025. It is a very nice property with independent cabins. The location is amazing. The cabins are heated and have running hot and cold water. We could park our car right next to the room. In the morning we enjoyed the view of the vast meadow in front of the cabin. We did not use the restaurant in this visit, but make sure we come for a longer time and use it. Shout out to Betty for making our trip special.

We arrived at the Kaibab Lodge on a holiday weekend and we were fortunate enough to snag a reservation last minute. The staff here were amazing, Betty D was a pleasure, and the lodge was clean and comfortable. It’s in a great location on the Kaibab National Forest, just a short drive from the north rim of the Grand Canyon. Plus, not many places can offer these beautiful views and location at this price.

I had a wonderful experience at the Kaibab lodge this last May of 2025. The staff is wonderful and helpful. The facility and rooms have a rustic charm. Yes, there are some limitations with thin walls and no air conditioning, but the charm of the place for the cost is a great experience. Showers are a little small, but lots of hot water to shower after hiking all day. I will definitely return.
Rich W — Google review
Our stay at Kaibab Lodge was truly wonderful. We arrived late at night after a long drive, but the late check-in worked perfectly. The lodge had a cozy, welcoming feel, and everything, from check-in to check-out, was smooth and stress-free. During our stay, we hiked down to Roaring Springs and did a guided mule tour on the second day. The starting points for both activities were conveniently close (only about a 30-minute drive). In the afternoons, we relaxed outside the main lodge building, sipping sodas and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. A special shoutout to Betty - she was incredibly helpful, kind, and informative. She really went out of her way to make sure we had a great experience. Highly recommend this place if you’re heading to the canyon or just passing through!

I stayed here the night before hiking the Grand Canyon and it was absolutely perfect. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, and the buffet breakfast hit the spot before a long day on the trail. A special shoutout to Betty—she was incredibly helpful, kind, and informative. She went out of her way to make sure I had everything I needed and answered all my questions with a smile. Her warmth and professionalism really stood out. Highly recommend this place if you’re heading to the canyon or just passing through!

The Grand Canyon Lodge is the sole accommodation within the North Rim of the National Park, offering stunning views of the North Kaibab Trail and Bright Angel Creek. Originally constructed in the 1920s and later rebuilt in 1937, it retains much of its original charm with preserved stonework and floor plan. The lodge provides excellent services for hikers, including information, refreshments, and souvenir shopping.
Didn't get to stay in the rooms. However, the services they provide up there for hikers are great. Always more than enough information, drinks to be had, gifts to buy, and many things to explore. I would recommend the lodges to any guest that has plans for the Grand Canyon.
